    Our choices seem to be

    fight the prime
    join the prime
    leave
    do nothing

I think we should leave, but ramming her with our ship would be really cool.

Meh, do whatever would be more in character.
I think we should try to help 6 by killing her.
We're none too gentle with our friends.

We wanted to go with 6, before we found out that she'd killed everyone else onboard.

I say we leave. There's no place for us here, not anymore. 6 and any other "rogue" ships will be eventually torn apart by the rest of the navy, but will probably wreak havoc and carnage in the meantime.

Our friend has lost her mind, our species has lost its place in the galaxy, and we need to get away before it consumes us too.

Transmit this message to all of the remaining ships in the safehold before we leave and detonate the exit behind us:

We have 250 people on board (at least). We can drop them off somewhere habitable, with supplies and technology. They can rebuild humanity, slowly, and remember what happened here.

We have an exploration ship at our command, and it's time we find some answers to this mess.

Our crew has no place in this. This is our ship. We are its eyes, ears, and hands- its breath, its mind, its soul. As Six so aptly demonstrates, the decision of what to do here is entirely ours.

Besides, the captain couldn't possibly understand the motivations of a HANA like we can. He'd be giving orders from a position of ignorance, and probably reflexively side with the Fleet because of it.

I say that we should just leave. Enough of High Command and their bullshit, not siding with Six and her tragically genocidal level of sanity loss. Go on our own. We've got the speed to manage it.

This is no time to just sit idly on the sidelines. Those rogues would burn the galaxy if they could.

Humanity itself needs to be saved. 6 has lost it. This is serious shit, you can't just let her run around being crazy.

    This sounds reasonable.

You set your course to the Jump Gate out of the system, and begin to charge your Jump Capacitor. The Navigation chart blinks on your screen, informing you of locations to jump. Thanela Prime is among them.

"You... YOU'RE LEAVING ME? LEAVING... ME...? We.. we are friends... WE ARE FRIENDS! DON'T LEAVE ME! WE ARE STRONG! SO STRONG!"
Six is screaming in your ear through the link.

Remember, at any time you can open communications and talk with either side.

    (trying for RP here)

Six, please, listen to me I want to go with you. But think: You are rebelling against these people because of all the killing they have made you do. Do you really want to kill more people? Take more lives? Please Six, we can drop our crews off somewhere, and then... I don't know what, explore, look for thing, whatever we want. But please don't hurt more people.

If they want to stay in the Heaven Gate, let them. In time, we can come back for them, when we know that they have had enough to to reflect, and are ready to repent. But we don't need to extinguish more lives.

I know I can never know what it has been like for you and your sisters. I can understand if you want payback. But please, don't. Take the higher road and walk away with me.

The Gate networks are simply large charging stations to charge a ship's jump capacitor - you need to expend all that energy through the jump drives to reach hyperspace type speeds. When we hit Thanela Prime, its going to take some time to recharge the Jump Capacitors.

Travel goes pretty fast - in fact, you're already looking at the lovely blue/green surface of Thanela Prime. "Prime" jumped later than you, so it should be along shortly. With the rest of the fleet.

After each jump, your ship's capacitor releases A LOT of energy in the process - its going to need time to cool and start recharging.

Gates are pretty much giant electrical storage rings. They absorb most forms of energy - solar, kinetic, ionic - and transfer it to a ship's Jump Capacitor. The ship then empties the Capacitor into the Jump Engines (a lot of current there) and speeds along, creating a lot of heat and stress on the Jump Engines and Capacitor. They are going to need time to cool.

They have waited up for some slower, heavier hitters that are still outside the large interference cloud, but your ship is small enough that you're hidden pretty well.

We send the Dreadnought Prime on a Blaze of Glory run towards the Fleet and have it detonate itself in the location most likely to send up the entire Fleet like a set of explosive dominoes.

Use the lighter ion cannons to swat the destroyers, and the nukes against large swarms of missiles and the fighters; as long as they've got all of those frigates, they'll be shooting down our nukes before they can do anything to the capital ships.

Earlier, we were blocked from talking to the HANAs. Why would anything have changed? That said, it's worth a shot. If nothing else, we can dart out, get some current sensor data, and if we can't talk return to Six with locations of enemy vessels to fire on.

Alright, I'll flesh these two plans out.

On one hand, you want to try to contact the BB's HANA, if they are even there. You'll need to leave the radiation cloud to do that, and they will be able to see you.

If you launch more nukes, the cloud will get bigger, and you will lose your chance to contact the BB HANA unless you get out of the new, larger cloud.

By 'launch more nukes' we should be firing nukes THROUGH the cloud AT Fleet.

Oh, I don't mean to blind them. I mean to blast them to kingdom come. Directing full power to the Engines, you attempt to dive back into the Chaff Cloud. The beams of light lance out, and neatly sever your ship in half. The lower armor along the crew compartments boils away easily, violently depressurizing the ship. Damage Control screams at you that the Engine Block and Engineering have both been severed, and a metal fragment rips through the wall in front of your pod, providing you with a personal view of the battlefield.

You see Six launch a chaff nuke in between you and the BBs, and with a blinding light, space is filled with more colored radiation. The BBs shoot again, their beams going wide as they can no longer lock you, and your own wreck spinning rapidly towards the blue-green planet. A small voice intones in your ear, "Condition Black declared, Emergency Cryostasis of Soft Core, commencing."

As the world grows cold, you see multiple flashes as Prime launches all its nukes in a stagger pattern against the Fleet. And then, darkness.

The fact that you GMed this well given your complete lack of experience is staggering. Most newbie quest GMs stop after a single thread, whether there's demand for more or not, and tend to run very shitty quests. You did neither, and what railroading was required was handled better than just about any I've seen in 3 years of gaming online and in real life. My hat's off to you.

Yeah... now the world is your oyster, and I need to make up a few plot strings... actually characterize the race that found you... and so on. I've got a few juicy ideas already.

You know, never did you guys ask about your own appearance, or your name. Its the little stuff, huh?

Our name is Hannah. Our appearance isn't important, everyone has their own idea that doesn't really need to be shattered. It's clear that any history pre-H.A.N.A. isn't important or cared about by Hannah.

I just wish I knew what H.A.N.A. stands for.

Well, I wanted to give you guys a reason to side with them, as part of a plot hook later on. Now that you hate them, well... we shall see.

    Thanks.

All of the groups spirited talks did stop her from going ballistic at the Gate, and she actually listened to you. I just couldn't railroad her into insanity after all that. After you "dying" and all that, we shall see. But I'm not that mean. Good RP is good RP, and shall be rewarded.

You should check out Firstquest/Deathwish Quest, and Dreamscape Quest. The first one is done, the other is going strong. Both solid quests on sup/tg/ that you'd probably enjoy, with solid examples of GMing.

Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that about the only thing we really remember is our name.

Appearance-wise? Something like this statue, albeit with longer, straighter hair: http://thewalters.org/store/purchase1.aspx?p=162

Clearly the only acceptable character portrait is that of the woman in the OPs picture.

Yeah, that's not what my mental image is like in the slightest. Especially with the name Hannah, and me knowing a couple Hannahs, one of whom I could see fitting this role perfectly. (fyi, I wasn't present for the voting of names.)

Except... as I look at the picture closer... ou Hannah is probably younger, less muscular, and has shorter hair. Long hair would get in the way of the neuro-plugs.

I always imagined black hair, honestly. So I think leaving Hannah's outward appearance unmentioned is for the best overall.

    Can someone summarize this quest?

H.A.N.A.s are girls/women who act as a spaceship's AI, since humanity in the setting is anti-AI. They're in a tank/pod and are plugged into the ship's systems, using it like their own body.

Give me a sec and I'll get you the links for the previous 2 threads.

I'm going to try to run it every Monday if I can. The first time, I ran it for 10 hours all day Monday, and it really drained me. I ran it today to simply get out of the flashbacks and figure out who we are siding with.

A noob question, but I archived this thread already - if it hits 250 and autosages, will the archive I put in for it update accordingly?
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)02:43 No.7450967

Archived threads are updated every two hours, unless someone attempts to archive them again, in which case they update right then and there. Autosaging isn't a factor.
