    >The Supernatural Registration Authority collects information on behalf of various government organizations, including the United Nations Economic and Social Council, the US State Department, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) and INTERPOL. This information is used to monitor, track, defend and defend against supernatural entities. The information collected may be shared with any or all national governments or international law enforcement agencies.

    >Mandatory registration

Permanent records for every non-human and licenses just to walk down the street. Can you believe this shit? What if a hate group like the Silver Flame gets a hold of the database?

They won't. There's some real shenanigans that go behind keeping supernatural records away from prying eyes.

I'm not a supernatural myself, but don't you have like, witches and shit to reality-fuck the records into being unable to be found by the Silver Flame in any way shape or form?

    >Emile Ravoldef

There is practically no danger of that. The database is warded against malice. Anyone who accesses it with ill intent will find only gibberish.

    >don't you have like, witches and shit to reality-fuck the records into being unable to be found by the Silver Flame in any way shape or form?

Sure, but all they have to do is slip up on their background checks, employ a Flamer and it's compromised. Magical seals are great but they won't stop someone who has the authority to open them in the first place.
    >> Anonymous 11/23/10(Tue)06:00 No.12901934
That's assuming that Humanis isn't already infiltrating the organisation so they'll have legitimate access to the records.

That used to be the case but with a very large database it becomes unreliable. A bad report or major crime by a werewolf goes across the news and suddenly half the staff can't access the werewolf records for a week.

I worked with billing accounts for a while (only normal humans) and it's totally impractical to ward all of it against something as broad as Malice. Sure, a business will tell you they're usually every magical trick in the book to protect your info...

I won't say it's a perfect system, but sacrifices have to be made. The database is under assault at all times. Redefining the wards would be like knocking down its walls. Not to mention that it would have to be taken offline while the procedure was performed.

Fortunately, construction of the next generation of supernatural data storage hardware has been approved. A great deal of problems with the current system can be traced to its age. As it is phased out, those problems will cease to be.

Now now, since I've registered with the SRA, I've been very well off.

The town even respects me now, I think having registered has eased their worries about me. (I'm one of the alternatively animated, you see, and it takes a bit for normal people to get used to me.)

However, the cops still don't let me near the graveyard, thinking I'll spread my condition. Although I've made great friends with a few people, even though one asshole keeps Max Brook's book out in the open intentionally every time I visit his roommate.

And as for the honorable Governor - the law doesn't say constructs aren't allowed to run for office, just that constructs are not allowed to register to vote.

The laws are in place for good reason. If constructs were allowed to vote, then those capable of making constructs would be capable of manipulating the election. The country would become an Arcanocracy in all but name.

Blegh, I swear, they really need to get their classifications better. I get that the damn states need blanket terms for us Sagodjur, but come on . . . Troll? We're not all related, you know. I'm about as close to a huldre as I am to the damnable Dövrekungen. Yet the undead get four or five different classifications.

Besides, it's maddeningly unclear. In my home county, I have to register as a fey, because hey, that's how they see my people. But if I want to leave Sweden, I have to register as a troll, because people don't accept that anyone from the North can be anything BUT a troll.

Seriously, give us some more options. The Fossegrimmer will not stand for this bullshit. Might as well start laying off the sanctions as a form of protest; if a few young ladies happen to stray too close to the water, it's not like they'll be able to trace it to me. Besides, I happen to know there's a norm who looks EXACTLY like me and plays the fiddle, so if all goes according to plan, he'll end up taking the heat.

Throughout human history, supernaturals haven't even come close to the level of cruelty that humans have inflicted on their own kind. I'd like to bring up Joseph Stalin, Chairman Mao, and Adolph Hitler. These individuals all have one thing thing in common: they're all human and they're all in the top 3 for number of human beings killed by their actions. The only famous supernatural I can think of that committed any significant massacre was Vlad Tepes, and he did all of his massacring *before* turning supernatural; he became somewhat of a depressive recluse after he joined the undead.

This man is a true patriot. Are you? America was founded by humans. Patriotic humans who wanted to be free from the tyranny of old Europe. But it seems old Europe won't let go. It sent vampires to bite our good citizens, and werewolves to eat our children. It sent fairies to lure us from God, and artificial men to confuse us. I don't want to be confused. I don't want to be scared. I don't want to live in a world, knowing that one day, they're all just going to... snap. Snap, like your spine when they break your back. Snap like their teeth over your heart. My fellow Americans, my fellow humans, don't sit there, RISE UP! Get a gun, get a bat, get a cross! You ever wonder why they use 'troll' as the generic term? It's because of idiots like you who think it's a great idea to protest by offing a few college students. We're still trying to get over the whole "smelling Christian blood" thing, and you're holding us back.

Come on; the state has already stopped ringing the damn church bells thanks to the whole church issue, and now you want special classifications from an international agency? I don't see anybody else whining.

Then again, you're obviously a little prima donna. Sure, we may not all be musical like your kind, but at least we'll admit that we're trolls. Stop trying to carve a special niche for your little sub-group.

I'm guessing you're in Västerbotten, judging by your idiot plans. The Agency has already noted the last couple disappearances, so I'm betting it's not gonna be long before you disappear as well. This is here for our protection, not so you can have a special category.

Human psychology has proven itself time and time again to be VERY susceptible to power. If you don't trust someone that's formerly human, you probably shouldn't be trusting someone that is currently human. But it wasn't a vampire that executed millions of its own citizens for the sake of its own delusional paranoia, it wasn't a werewolf that destroyed hundreds of square miles of valuable farmland and caused widespread famine that cost the lives of millions, it wasn't a golem that dragged the entire world into one of the bloodiest wars mankind has ever known.

And the task forces? Please, give me a break. I live in the middle of a forest that doesn't even see sunlight during the winter. I doubt any international force could find me on my home turf, much less drop a bullet into me.

And so what if it gives the hate groups ammunition? They'll dig it up somewhere. Even if I stuck with willing seduction, they'd find a way to make it out as though I raped the poor woman. Look at it, it doesn't find any problem luring innocent women to their death. Hey, genius, you could stop your damn playing, or maybe help them out of that freezing water. Thankfully, that's all dying down these days. Maybe in a few years, that little church will finally die out, the huldre will realize you've been tricking them into joining you, and we can get back to showing you why leaving the forests and lakes alone is a good idea.

And what help can I offer? They're the ones who decide they need to jump in the water. It's not as though I've got a heated room to give them. Besides, not all of them die. Some women merely enjoy the music, give me a bit of thanks, and go on their way. Too many of your women just aren't used to hearing the old tunes. I blame the MTV. Keeps them from building a good immunity to the more . . . intoxicating effects.

It just seems that no one can appreciate a good tune anymore. I haven't been approached to teach anyone the art in years now; shame that we offer such wonderful gifts, and the most you can do is hurl curses and drive us off of our lands.

You mean the awful crime of being continuously butchered by humans for the sheer act of existing? Yeah, they're real monsters alright.

I'm going to laugh my fucking ass off when we push the supernaturals far enough that they start unifying and fighting back. All treating them like this does is give groups like the Children of Lilith credibility and teach supernaturals that we are the enemy. It's going to be an ugly, ugly day for human when they do decide we're worth actually going to war against. They're stronger than us, they're tougher than us, they're faster than us, many of them are extremely difficult to kill, many of them are possessed of abilities that we can't even understand, let alone possess. We're not going to be on the winning side of that fight. Especially if they get the help of the supernaturals that are actually out to destroy us. The whispers in my mind have had some very interesting things to say of late, and we're at the threshold of something big.

I think that unless we receive a formal 'surrender' from representatives of supernatural groups, we should treat them as enemies in a conflict which has gone on for centuries. We should be getting reparations for the past ages of supers attacking us, drinking our blood, stealing us for their own sick games and generally being assholes to us.
Frankly, any discrimination going on now is turnaround, which is fair play. The supers only care about it now because the balance of power has radically changed and the human way has been vindicated.

No, you look at human/supernatural history it really isn't the case. They were no more aggressive with us than any human nation. There isolated incidents of supernaturals preying on humans, but they exist in roughly the same scope as human serial killers. Most supernaturals are entities that try to live their lives and be left alone. The goblin that works in an illegal sweatshop to feed its family is not preying on humanity.

But hey, let's keep pushing creatures that make us look like ants in comparison. Let's keep reminding them that we don't want anything to do with them but we're alright exploiting their labor and contributions to our sciences and understanding of the mystical arts. I'm sure they're just fine with being denied basic necessities despite being completely willing to work for a living and contributing to society fairly.

Never mind that some of the wonders of the world were built on the backs of Minotaurs. And speaking of, whatever happened to the Minotaurs.

In the last thousands years, people like our lake troll friend have been content to sit in their lairs and stew in their own bile while humanity has advanced. A dragon just isn't a threat in the days of jet fighters and guided missiles and a troll is as good as a human to a bullet. And in the end, we can render the planet uninhabitable.

Most fuckers don't understand the difference between us and a zombie, and so a lot of the time when I take my nightly walks I'm stopped by police for apparently doing some little thing zombies can't do, I used to have to try and explain to them "see, I'm not a zombie, zombies are living people that died and came back, I'm a ghoul see, I never actually died and..." but they would always cut me off and shit, and I spent a few nights in jail before someone that didn't have their head up their ass released me.

Now I just carry around a certificate of registration and they leave me the fuck alone.

Besides, as I've said time and time again, not all of them die, which is what I wish I could say about those who get taken to the mountains. Middle Sweden, actually. Got pretty good relations with the the Norwegian mountain trolls, though. Not much visiting either way, for obvious reasons, but there's some correspondence and of course the younglings get these traveling ideas sometimes. I think it's to do with the humans and their romanticizing it.
Now that you mention it, there's this family quite a ways from here (sadly not far enough) that seem to behave in that primitive, stupid way. Shitty mountain, gaudy decorations, can't tell real gold from fool's gold. Sound familiar?

I don't get why anybody would want to eat humans, anyway. It's not even practical, with so little meat for the effort. So I get a choice between finding, killing and eating a scrawny, but thinking being, ruining our relationship with the people in the area, and just, you know, butchering one of our fat cattle and having a feast. Killing humans is both tasteless and dumb, the way I see it.

Hm... Oh, I see. The ones up in northwestern Dalarna. I'm down a bit south-east from Falun. We've had a long relationship with the humans, what with the mine and all. In fact we used to live not far from where they started digging, but when they got close to our halls they asked nicely, so we ended up relocating. The city was getting a bit too populated for our liking anyway, we do like a bit of isolation. Maybe that's the difference, we've had a lot closer contact with people. Those guys up north... Completely senseless. We don't talk about them much. I'm always as surprised that humans keep going on trips to Älvdalen. Seems suicidal to me. I mean, if they're going to have the downhills open in the evenings, they have to keep everything lit up and have guards around just because those lunatics living in the mountains. Wanting nothing to do with them is perfectly understandable, I'm sorry you have such horrible relatives.

The 'Nukes are Dragonfire' claim is true, actually.

What the dragons won't admit, though, is that they weren't the result of secret draconic teachings, so much as the result of hacking dragons apart, experimenting with the organs, discovering the properties of certain glands, combining it with existing research and theory, and then turning it against them. Nagasaki? Former home of the world's largest Den. The Japs had finally convinced them to join in the war, and we weren't about to let that happen.
