    Hey, guess who?

Anyone care to hear what happened since last week?

Also, looking for advice as usual.

I did for some of it, like last time.

    I'll start posting.

tl;dr = Essentially last time, "that girl" Illora snuck into my guy's room, and tearfully confessed that everything that was going on in the world and everything she'd achieved was too much for her. She was plagued with guilt and regret, and wished to take it all back.

Seeking amends, she said she was giving up the evil act and wanted to do good. She said that she would use her powers to help people, and make up for what she was. Despite it all though, and the fact that she bore me no ill will, if I tried to stop her from making amends, she may have to kill me despite not wanting to, but would drop out of world affairs if that was the case.

    That was last time.

So, starting with the next game, my guy woke up early in the morning. Just a habit of his by now, so I didn't even need to roll or anything.

Getting in my pimping new wheelchair, I went out and started to make breakfast. My sister soon joined me, wakened by her husband who was getting ready for work. So she helped me make breakfast before the husband came down, as well as my mother, and we all had breakfast before he headed out to work.

After that, I convinced my sister to head into town to go shopping for whatever, and to take mother with her. It wasn't exactly their weekly trip yet, but she figured it wouldn't hurt to go early, or simply twice that week.

So they obliged, and a short while later they left, making sure we were fine there.

Now it was just me and Illora who as of yet remained absent.

That's this time, what happened. I'm getting to it.

    ---

So I made breakfast for her, because why not? Then I headed to her room and knocked, no answer. Slowly making my way in, I saw her still sleeping, laying sprawled out across the bed and drooling on her pillow. Clearly not as refined as she liked to put on.

Also next to the bed was her arm and her leg. True to her word, she took them off to sleep, as she inferred previously that she couldn't sleep with them lest she injure herself while asleep.

Well, what else to do but wheel over and open the curtains, let the sun in. I told her wakey wakey, she groaned and pulled the covers over her head, asking for five more minutes.

Before wheeling out, she asks if the family is still here. I tell her no but ask why. She says if she'd rather eat before washing up, so she won't need to get dressed or anything fancy yet.

She said she'd be ready in a bit, I could do whatever till then. So I headed back to the kitchen, set her up a plate and such, while I assume she reattached her prosthetics.

So sure enough, I hear the thumping of her leg a short while later and she comes in and sits down. I guess she only put her limbs back on, because she was still in the underwear she slept in. Good thing the family was out.

So she ate and said it was really good. The chefs back at home and in Spain always had the best ingredients, but the way they prepared it couldn't compare.

Other than that we just talked about all sorts of crap. It was nice, and almost exactly like the old character interaction we had, back when things were normal.

My dude's a cripple goddammit! I don't even think he can get it up, cripples can't right? At least not easily... or whatever, this is weird conversation.

Plus you know... she's like a murderer cyborg monster.

    ---

So talking about this and that, what she and the group have been doing, what they need to do, and what she needs to do when she gets back. Things for the country. Admittedly it mostly went over my head because I don't know allot about politics and running nations.

Also we talked about the thing that happened the night before, how she was going to proceed. Among other things she inferred; "I used to care about politics and changing the world. I'm done with all of that, I just want to help people."

Also pic related, she gets another portion.

So eventually she finishes up, I take care of the dishes and cleaning so she can go wash or get dressed or whatever, and get ready to leave.

I finish after awhile, and a bit later she come back in her red attire (I think she must have like multiples of the same set, hence why it's like what she's always wearing). Her carriage won't be here for another hour or two, so she suggests we go for another walk.

Nothing big, she just pushes me around, past some fields and forest. Noticeably, a different way from the day prior.

We get back to the house, and just sit outside together waiting for her ride. Some more talking, but about nothing in particular, some stuff about her augmentations and the process involved. Mostly watching the time pass though really.

So her ride pulls up, and after she hefts her luggage I see her off. Noticeably inside, I could make out someone familiar, although I couldn't tell where from. Regardless, I just waved it off.

Before stepping in, we said our goodbyes. She wondered if maybe we could meet again under different, better circumstances. The world was in a strange place and time now.

I responded "Hey don't worry, we'll get through this together, alright?"

So I see her carriage pull off, and I head back in, prepare for the gypsies to arrive. THANKFULLY everyone is gone.

About another hour or two later and they show up, armed to the teeth and looking for blood. I'm the only one there though, so their efforts are wasted.

We meet up and I explain things of what was happening for them to clear the air, but leave out that Illora apparently seeks to reform her ways.

Yes, we love each other and would never hurt the other.

    ---

So I go over with them more details, plans she had and things she intends to do. Eventually they figure I'm still worth something to them and likely haven't turned sides, but I'm on thin ice with them. I guess they really didn't like seeing her, especially not me with her.

I tell them to be back in a few days, we'll go over things in more detail and such and plan whatever course of action. Until then I'd like to spend time with my family.

Anyway so seeing them off, I head back in and wait for family to come home. The husband won't be back until later as usual, but mother and sister should be home soon. With Illora and the gypsies gone, it's nice just to take things easy and spend time with them.

Over the next few days, I ponder the situation of everything while spending time with family. Illora's confession, the actions and reactions of the gypsies, my own prospects and what I'm to do.

Eventually gypsies arrive a few days later and I go back with them, while discussing all sorts of things on the way to try and restore their confidence in me. It sort of works, they at least believe that I can still provide them will all sorts of valuable information.

Anyway, so now we're headed back to civilization the lot of us, and I'll be back at my desk in a few days.

I don't think I can really do police work anymore, but at least one thing before I consider leaving or doing anything else, I aim to find out who the mole is, working for Illora.

    ---

Anyway so that's where things finished off. Next game I'll be back in the city, and ready to act from there, for whatever purposes.

At least, as far as I can tell, I don't need to worry about Illora's looming sword overhead, as long as I don't do anything against her. Assuming she was telling the truth that is.

Well I said in the last few threads, but more and more it looks like my options are being limited to magic or Nemo, or that third route.

It's appearing more and more that I simply can't compete with her in terms of common tech of the day, and save for maybe getting myself walking again, I shouldn't try to go about robotting myself up to try and compete with her in that way.

So yes, I think magic is looking to be perhaps the most probable course of action to take.

One thing before I leave though, is I wanted to finish the investigation on Illora and the formal ball. The only part left, I can do without suspicion or being found out.

With the gypsies help I can get access to a mystic, and with my dead comrade's belongings, including the dead Prince, I can contact their spirits to get their takes on everything, and help if I missed anything or they know something I don't.

Good good. I like the Mystic help angle. She won't be able to do much about that...

As for the mole, you might want to engineer something unfortunate to happen to him. If he's under you, plant some evidence of something on him and have him locked away - death row if possible. Get him to sing. Find out what intermediary she used. Rinse and repeat.

The problem with getting rid of the mole, in terms of disposing of them as some people said, is that they'll just get replaced, and in eliminating them it will raise Illora's suspicion.

As far as she knows, assuming I even know about the mole, I'm just going to go back to my old life and line of work.

Anyway, as long as I know who it is, as long as I'm leaving anyway and it's someone at work, they can't follow me. They're not going to give up their work as well, plus that'd be too obvious.

Well for time passing's sake I guess the mole is a good route. However, I would profess that the mole may not be as simple an issue to root.
Think of it this way, there may not be a mole, but a network of complacency and subjugation. Ergo, she has the members of the police under wraps and that's why there is no further investigation.

Ditching that chair right? Paranoia at full blown right now. I presume that it has the ability to transmit your location and or audio letting her know where you are and what you have said to who. Meaning she has no contacts in the gypsies aside from you making everything you do with them blackmail potential. It also means that what you have said she may now know making you an unintentional mole.
I suspect this, trouble when you get back to the precinct. If trouble, paranoia verified, if none, then I fear she is biding her time for when you do something. Which is even worse.

Again, ditch the chair, pay the Outside a visit if possible. Do the spooky speak to the dead thingy with any one you can. Anyone. Especially an old close contact of hers maybe?

My mistake I thought in one of the last threads she reviled a mole in the gypsy ranks which had me hella nervous for you. Probably me just Mixing up sentences. If the gypsies are safe I say get out of the city. The best thing you can do is use him to feed false information. What I would do is plant info that you are going some were to work for a while. Maybe someplace warm claiming the cold hurts the amputated areas so you can cover your tracks leaving the city. That way she does not know when and were you left too.

I don't think she could have a network of surveillance, my superiors don't like her at all. If she's got someone spying on me, and in the police, then I don't think she could get it under their noses with having multiple cronies of hers. Just a thought.

As for the creepy converse undead thing, it can only work with dead people of course, and if I have some belonging or vestige of that person. All my old friends I have that for, same for the Prince. The only other person I'm aware Illora's killed (I mean she's probably killed others, but I wouldn't know) is her former husband, but I don't have a way to get something of his.

As for the Outsider, as said in previous threads, I think given her current state, meeting her would be impossible. If I want to see her, it would have to be done by breaking in there, and in doing so, might as well break her out. It's really like a one way street with her.

I mean I suppose I could use my position maybe to see her, but that's like a huge if. The English are really big on keeping her locked up and away from everyone.

That's a good point. The herself or a drone that is.
If we have given her way to much credit thinking that she has generated great influence just doesn't sit right when you think of it. She has influence and money but she doesn't use them outside of doing it on her own.

Here is a really really wierd, and /x/ style thought, but it hinges on if its actually happening. Walk (roll) down a street with a camera (assuming its not to huge) with it pointing behind you. Stop, snap a picture of where you have been. Do this about 1-5 times depending on the ease of replacing the silver plate (old cameras used metal silver plates and various other things but just a thought).
Once developed you might get an insight on things you didn't notice before. I imagined you seeing her staring at you from behind or a drone thingy floating in the distance tracking you expertly. That and the thin man... but in reality it would be an interesting thing to do.

Cool, are you willing to go learn magic. I can easily think of a few steps to be taken to get a huge jump start on your magic career.

    1. Take the confiscated occult books the police have collected when you leave the city. The gypsies mystic can probably tell you which ones are garbage and which ones contain real power.

    2. Make contact with the Fey. Fairy tells are rife with people making deals with Fey for boons. Whether it is skill as a magician, your body fixed, or even both, all are within reach if you strike a deal with the Fey. Another benefit with dealing with Fey and not demons is generally Fey do not want your soul. A good deal can often do more than offering your soul will. My idea for the deal is "I will use your boon to kill "that girl" causing WWI and give the Fey needed time to recover their strength so they can take back their place in the world." With that deal not only can you get a boon you technically have not given them any thing either that you would not already have done.

All right, here we go - The Police Requiem! This form is achieved when The Police is stabbed with the same Stand Arrow that originally gave Markus the power of the Stand. Its ability is to switch, dampen, or increase the relationships people hold with each other. At the height of its power, it can dampen the bonds people hold in an entire city, forcing everyone to think selfishly and live only for themselves.

Why do such a thing? Well, look at the face hanging in the middle of its chest, look at the betrayal and evil close friends have inflicted on Markus.

Maybe then you'll realize there are no heroes left in man.

One of the bigger elements of this game was correspondence. And through this I envision you sending out letters that are sent back to a post box that you pay someone else to check. Through this contact you maintain tabs on the world as you know it. Sending your letters out all signed "Disarmed Policeman' just so that very few would know who you were.
Batman complex and all... except more sinister... with a huge amount of foreboding.
Like a letter to the outsider that you somehow manage to get to him (worth investigating honestly) with each one signed with that mantra. Become the BBEG (sorta) and extract her from this world so that it may develop on its own terms instead of the terms inflicted on others through a tyrannical ideal of one!

    *cough*
but then again, my vision of your character and the future may be different than how you go forward. Again, fun game, wish I had a game like that going right now...

Let me explain with words! Say Person A dislikes Person B, while Person B likes Person C. Person A is indifferent to Person C. The Police Requiem can:

-make Person A HATE Person B with an utter passion, even more than normal.
-make Person A LOVE Person B, in an opposite twist.
-make Person A like Person C instead of Person B, who is now indifferent about Person C.

These are a few of the things that can be done.

Very true, I mean just from what I've seen it could totally be an option.

The only thing is, that it negates the possibility for revenge (going down this route, I'm sorry but I couldn't do that to her if she was being honest). Although, considering the possibilities, revenge may not be necessary.

You're right though, I could totally just go back with her, and we could go back to how things used to be. It'd really only be that other guy against me, and she relates with me probably better than anyone. The rest of the party just follow her because she's strong and gives them gifts and such.

    Hmmmmmm.

I can see how you'd have moral problems backstabbing her, despite everything. So now you have to weight the options.

You can change her, and the world, for the better. But is it worth giving up your entire motivation up to this point.

    Deep man.

I don't know. I mean I don't want to let everyone down with that option, but looking at it now, it seems to be best way to wrap up all loose ends.

She made mistakes, huge mistakes, but she realizes that and seeks forgiveness. Is forgiving her the equivalent of copping out? Things would just go back to the way they were when we were all one big happy group.

I'm not saying this is the route I'll take, yet, but it definitely is something to consider...

    >Are you trying to infer something sir?

Sure, she can face justice. But I think for awhile now, personal revenge has been taken out of the picture. And facing justice doesn't entail killing her.

    >It's 1885

You know, OP, I ran across your archived threads awhile back and I started thinking...

Why are you aiming to reform or negate your nemesis? Why would you seek to undo the good she has done in hand with the evil?

OP, I think you should kill her.

In 1880, August Fiedler of Stronsdorf, Austria developed the world's first telescopic lens with the intent of making telescopic sights for rifles. In 1885 Winchester produced a single-shot with higher muzzle-velocity than other bolt-action rifles of the time. If you're not confident of your aim, then purchasing a bolt-action rifle may work better. But you'll need to fire more than once.

Train with your rifle everyday, shooting as often as you can but avoiding notice from even those you would call friends and allies. A simple claim that you are investigating crimes abroad should suffice for covering your tracks, but take winding trips and avoid contact with people as often as possible. Always -appear- to be going out of town, but never go where you say you will. Allow your enemy to become the hero that unites Europe and save the downtrodden...

Then shoot her. Aim for the abdomen, preferably a lung or the liver. Something that, cybernetics or not, she will not survive. Shoot twice if necessary. You won't escape, because you're a cripple. When you are arrested, attest to your target's good nature. Let her be a hero, and let the secret of the villain you killed go to the grave with you.

Which, admittedly, will probably be immediately after you're tried. You know, for murder.

    Either way: Good luck.

Anyway, after reading your exploits, I don't think it will ever be back to normal. But at least you'll all be on the same side again. Also, does she deserve some punishment, other than death. But... You know WWII came about from punishments from WWI. Either be fair or destroy her absolutely.

My apologies for missing the thread. ...It sounds like Illora might not be completely evil, and definitely has it bad for Markus. ...Time will tell if her change of heart will result in any changes of action, but fortunately traveling the world and gaining magical power and allies is a rather time consuming process.
I think you can trust the wheelchair (for as long as you'll need it) as I don't think steampunk is capable of transmitting your location, much less what you see/say across the world.
Also regarding completing your investigation, make sure it's unofficial, and only done with the mystic, so Illorra won't be able to find out. If she does, you can just say that you wanted to say goodbye to your old companions before starting a new phase of your life. Retire/take an extended vacation from the police, as you're being spied on and it doesn't seem like you'll be able to accomplish much, especially if you're still in that wheelchair and missing an arm.

(Try to rephrase it as something different to your gms, like don't just go 'it's from JoJo's bizarre adventure' but say something about an 'extension of your soul' or some metaphysical claptrap)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

Get Nemo tech, burn Europe, restore "normal" history, with the rise of the United States and the rise to power of other former colonies, and the rise to power of the colonies.

In the end, she'll unleash a terrible burning weapon on you.

But you'll keep marching. And as your flesh burns away, you will lift her up with your robotic skeleton, high above the remains of the Louvre (ahk, my heart, so much lost culture), and whisper "And the girl in red though she could be the difference, but in the end, the future refused to change."

Religion is pretty big, although not as big ass it used to be. And not because of Nemo or anything, just simply because overtime devotion to Relgion has become less important in favor of devotion to your nation, similar to the real world in those years.

It's still a prominent thing, but not so much as that people structure their lives around it as much anymore. That said, Religion in it's various forms have provided much use to many countries in combating magic and the like.

Like our Nun character, I call her a Nun simply because she worked for the church, but really she was our expert on all things occult/magical. If we encountered some monster, she knew how to kill it. If there was some ward or curse on a place, she knew how to break it. As an actual role she was like a cleric, helping with buffs and stuff as an ordained church mage.

In practice though she was like a Sister of Battle I suppose, she was a good fighter too and had some various strong items to help.

As for angels and demons, they're known to exist. Just that, it's rare if ever that people encounter holy entities/powers, whereas demons are much more willing to show themselves and interact with people. It's kind of like in the real world how you have Saints, and accounts of people interacting with demons. Just that, those accounts are known to be true.

Just because of the presence of the church and it's powers though (catholic) however, doesn't mean Judeo-Christian religions are the only religions to be seen as having tangibility or the dominant religion. Hinduism, Paganism, etc... all have presences in the setting.

It's just that as I said, with Religion not such a big factor anymore, and in most cases religious displays and vestiges of power limited to the utmost highest ordained members, it's become more like what Religion is in the world today, rather than what it was with actual events affecting people.

    >>12879660

The Ottomans I believe can pull it off, because the integrate magic into the process of industry. Making sure the tech they produce is sound with magic and vise verse.

Nemo doesn't exactly combine technology with magic, so much as that his machinery and science simply isn't affected by magic, nor does it affect magic. They can coexist perfectly.

When dealing with a mole the best solution is not the obvious method of getting rid of him. Getting the mole outed will only get him replaced, as will outright avoiding him. With mole being replaced not only do you not know who the new mole will be, you will have to start looking for him instead of acting on your plan. Instead it is better to feed the mole information you want him to hear. This way you control what information is going back and forth and can manipulate your target to your advantage.

Yeah pretty much. Each DM has used different sheets usually, but to the same effect.

Just basic things like character details, skills, possessions, physical traits and abilities.

Like right now I think my current sheet is one for L5R, while Illora's is Shadowrun. Overtime we've just lost or had to redo them, and simply used what the DM had at the time but for the same purpose.
