I'd say 1 is probably most trust worthy, depending on how he'd look in colour. I mean, if he's got a lot of red and dark colouration on him that would feel demonic and thus untrustworthy. If there's more brown and earthy colours I'd say he looks very benevolent and worthy of trust.

8 is the most trust worthy after that. He doesn't look openly hostile but nor is he trying to look too appealing, some of the more open faced ones feel a little untrustworthy because they look beguiling.

4, again depending on colouration, looks like they can be trusted. They have a hopeful look about them.

5 is definitely the least trust worthy, they are making an effort not to make eye contact.

since you're not giving me much in ways of background information, I assume that I'm supposed to judge based on my personal biases and predisposed opinions.

The first thing I'm looking for generally when I meet someone is facial reactions. I assume that this picture intends to show how they look when we first meet.

A friendly outwardly appearance goes a long way in our society right now, sadly. Mainly because everyone who is not smiling at you tends to be pricks.

Number 1, 4, 5 and 7 are smiling at me. 3 Is POSSIBLY smiling, but personally I think he look as if he just saw something awesome behind me and he just can't contain himself. That's never a good sign.

Number 1 and 4 have horns and otherwise rather alien looking appearances. Assuming this isn't some kind of larp roundup, I'm instantly untrusting towards everything looking as if it could have jumped out of one of my childhood scare-tales. No 1 in particular. Really I'd give any of them a chance in most campaigns because usually I work with the DM so that their plots have a modicum of a chance to go off. If any of them were going to get the boot, it'd be stoned-ass number 3, mary-sue-pigtail # 5, or obviously-a-demon number 4. 6 would be suspect depending on campaign but is probably not very good at lying anyways.

The question you're asking makes me a little biased though. When you say who looks the most "trustworthy", I'm immediately trying to guess what they would do in a video game based on how they look. So like numbers 5 and 7 I'd watch carefully in a video game because those kinds of nice smiley chicks are always stabbing you in the back. However! Again, this is biased due to the question. I'm looking for characters in a video game that might betray me, usually video games don't have complicated twists, and cute chicks betraying you is not a complicated twist.

Number 4 looks like a kind of guy who'd ditch me if we didn't know each other and were just thrown together when shit hit the fan. But if we became friends I have a feeling he'd be very loyal. #6 looks like he's biting back emotions, and is doing a poor job of it. Unreliable.
#2 appears indifferent. He could go either way, but I'm going to lean towards untrustworthy, since he doesn't seem to care what anyone thinks of him.
#4 gives off the vibe of a decent guy who just isn't good at smiling, but I'm prone to not trust him because he's clearly not human and I could easily be misinterpreting his expression.
#1 could go either way. He looks relatively honest, but honesty isn't the best way to judge trustworthiness.

1 started as a pacifist demon. I wanted him to be obviously demonic and dangerous, but with a non-threatening demeanor. In the end, he seems like a very good-natured fellow, and I think the antlery-horns make him more of a nature spirit than an infernal demon.

4 started out as the female representative of 1's race. In the end though, I think I pushed it towards being androgynous. 4 looks very kind, and it was supposed to be a "can you trust a demon?" type of dilemma,

For both 1 and 4, since they are demons, I'd never trust them. They'd never do anything to break my trust if I did put it in them, and they'd try to do everything to gain my trust, but I wouldn't do it on principle.

2 started out as a woman (in terms of drawing, not in regards to any backstory). I ended up making him more manly, and he turned into the kind of guy I'd be neutral about. He has his own issues, and they'll always take priority. If your goals coincide, great, but if they diverge he'll do what he wants.

3 is as noble as you get. I get a bit of a "Minsc" vibe from him. While everyone seemed to pin him as unreliable, I don't think anyone could think he harbors any evil at all.

5 likewise probably doesn't have a trace of evil. She's just cute and while she's not particularly kind she's never exceptionally mean. I had her with that mischievous expression because I needed to see if just a "hint" of villainy on an otherwise pure surface could really make a person seem untrustworthy than the other candidates. In my eyes, it really doesn't.

6 looks bitter and angry. I don't know, I wouldn't really think he cares about anyone else at all. It might be part of his species' thing (being unable to make "warm" expressions) but he seems way too tense.

7 was supposed to be the counterpoint to 1 and 4. Somewhere, her evil expression became more flirtatious, and in the end I dropped it back from "Evil faced elf" and it went towards more of "Tipsy elf."

8 was added in because I needed another fantasy race, and dwarf popped into my head. He's really just a dwarf being a dwarf, though he has a little more age to him. I'm sure everyone else sees him as gruff and stern, but he seems like a softy to me, at least as far as dwarfs go.

In the end, my personal list from most to least trustworthy is
5 3 8 2 7 6 4 1

For trust, #7 looks like someone who would make sure to pay her debts on time, grab the first aid kit if I got cut, and spot me $40 if I lost my wallet.I wouldn't trust any of them with my life, but for minor things I'd go to 7 first.

For untrustworthiness, it's a tossup. I'd doubt #3 would respect duty or commitment but more out of apathy or ignorance than malicious intent. Still, I could at least trust him to keep a secret simply because he wouldn't remember it. #2, on the other hand, looks like an intelligent, sardonic, and maybe selfish young man quite capable of finding and using any edge he has over me, sooner or later, though he would probably keep at least the pretense of trustworthiness for a while.

That's a hard question with a really, really long answer.

In any case, I learned a lot, and I hope other people have as well. Some of the concepts that are floating around in this thread may be difficult to stitch together into concrete ideas, but there's a decent amount of material simply on the matters of perception, trust, and social interaction, to say just a few.

#9 is the most trustworthy, because he's the one not in a criminal lineup.

I'd go with #1, oddly enough.

1. I'd trust him. I don't give a crap what his is.
2. May or may not be trustworthy, but he/she does not give a fuck so I don't give a fuck about he/her.
3. Might be trustworthy, but he looks too excited. I'm suspicious.
4. Could be trustworthy.
5. I'd trust her.
6. I'd be scared of him, but he might be trustworthy. He looks like he'd want to kick my ass.
7. A hot elf that looks shy. I'd immediately want to trust her, but I'd have to second-guess myself.
8. Dwarf is looking dwarfy. Dwarf=reliable.

So most to least: 5, 1, 8, 6, 4, 1, 3, 2

If I had to pick only from appearance, I'd have to go with 5 for most trustworthy.

For the least, I have to say 8. He looks like a dwarf. I fucking hate dwarves.

If you trust 1 and 8, you're a bro.
