    >Oh, hey, look at the time.

The world of Ivalice took a very different path in its iteration in VieraQuest. Much like our own world, magic (that is, any force perceived as true magic) is used only by the very powerful or the very deranged, and to flaunt it in public would be foolhardy at best. Technology has become the art of choice among the people, and life, from our relative position, has continued as normal, with a few exceptions. Alongside the realm of Man, the Humes, dwell four other races:

The proud, reptilian Bangaa, warlords of the deserts and pirates of the high seas,
The diminutive but crafty Moogles, traders to all and enemies of few,
The sagacious Nu Mou, a nomadic and reclusive race thought by many to be only legend,
And the lithe and enchanting Viera, forest folk who dwell both closest and most removed from Men.

Thankfully, you didn't end up very far from your new home after waking up in the middle of a field. On the way back to civilization, you came upon a rogue Rocktoise, intent on dislodging something from its shell, which turned out to be not one, but two ash wyrm fangs, highly sought after by hunters. Though the encounter disconcerted you, you and Nieve managed to slip back into your apartments mostly unnoticed... That is, until Elma awoke from her alcohol-induced slumber. Narrowly avoiding death at her hands, it is revealed that you are not, in fact, the head of a Guild due to a drunken pact made the previous night, but the newest inductee into a guild consisting of the Elma, Laya, Fyna, and Nieve! You have decided to report to the girls' apartment to discuss all of the strange goings-on concerning the Green Word, as well as the strange moon hanging over head that no one else has seemed to notice...

    >Head to the girls' apartment... again.

You have awoken bright and early, something you are not usually wont to do on an off-day. You're full of questions, and you're intent to get them answered. Grabbing a bundle containing the Kenpo Gi and Power Sash you found yourself in the previous day, you make your way up to the apartment.

Upon your arrival, you notice Elma and Fyna standing in front of the door, talking quietly amongst themselves. They haven't noticed you yet, and you can just make out snatches of their conversation; They seem to be having a quiet argument, and their expressions are both anxious and annoyed. You hang back a bit, unwilling to get in the middle of anything too personal. You could continue to hang back and perhaps listen in on a bit of the sisters' conversation, or eschew all pretenses and approach them. You're not sure which approach would be better at this point.

    >Approach slowly.

As you peek around the corner as inconspicuously as possible, you catch more of the Vieras' words; Elma is plainly upset, and Fyna is trying to reason with her.
"... can't go back, not after we left like that! Just because Nieve thinks she knows what the Green Word's saying best doesn't mean she gets to run our lives!" You hear Fyna sigh. This may be a sore point. "She's not trying to run our lives, Elma. She's worried. You heard what she said about that boy. He's done something funny, and now he's getting in deeper. Not to mention YOU pulled him into a Guildpact, what were you--"
The two women abruptly stop talking, and look in your direction. You make your best effort not to look like you've been listening in, and it appears to succeed. Elma, as usual, looks tired of you already. "What is it? If you're here to see Laya then this might not be the best time. We're kind of busy." Fyna holds up a hand to silence her elder sister. "Hold on. We haven't quite heard your version of what happened yesterday. Think you can clarify a few things for us?"
You, frankly, couldn't agree more, but you're unsure of what to say. There's so much you don't know that it's difficult to decide where to begin... perhaps you should convince them to let you speak to all four of them at once.

I Don't know, maybe we should give them the regular version there on the stairs, then give the condensed version when we meet the others. Elma is kind of the leader of the guild, so it would be better to be straight up with her than with everyone else, that means not presenting any thing that could be misconstrued

    >Sort things out with Elma, then gather the Viera.

Elma frowns at your proposal, but gives Fyna a nod. "Tell Laya to make herself decent, we've got company. I'll be a minute." Fyna nods and heads inside, looking at your all the while. You outline the events of the previous day to Elma, who listens with a serious expression on her face. You make it clear that you want to be on the level with her, and she seems to respect that. She crosses her arms over her chest, leaning against the door frame. She looks surprisingly professional; all she's missing is a jacket and some horn-rimmed glasses and she'd be the strangest looking businesswoman you've ever seen.
"Okay, so you're seeing another moon, and you're obviously not under the effects of some kind of drug. Let's say you're not making this up, and that I believe you. What should I tell the others? That we've got a problem that needs fixing? We've got enough problems right now." She thinks for a moment more, before stepping in to the apartment, looking back at you. "All right. >This one's a bit long, gotta break it up.

As the two of you enter, you see that the others are already downstairs. Nieve seems to be lost in thought, and Fyna is finishing a bowl of some kind of stew. Laya is busily toweling off her incredibly long hair; it appears she has just taken a shower. Greetings are exchanged and Elma takes a seat on the couch. You take a deep breath, and begin your story. You leave nothing out, detailing the strange dreams, the second moon, and your encounter in the forest. Nieve seems troubled as she listens, but Fyna and Laya are obviously interested, though somewhat incredulous. As you finish, you look at each of the Viera, who all seem to be looking between you and Nieve. Finally, Nieve speaks up. "If it's true, and you can hear the Word, what does that mean for us? I get the feeling that we've done something we shouldn't have, and it makes me nervous..." Fyna glances up into the sky before turning to you. "Well, I don't see another moon up there. Sounds a little crazy, if you ask me. But, if the mystic and our fearless leader believe you, then I guess I don't have a choice..." You turn to Laya, who smiles understandingly at you. "It sounds like you've had an interesting couple of days. I don't think you've any reason to lie, but perhaps we are not the best experts on this subject..."

Elma crosses her arms again, deep in thought. "I'll be honest, I'm not sure what to do at this point. If this has something to do with that Mistwyne, we might be biting off a bit more than we can chew by dealing with it ourselves. That stuff's not to be messed with." At this, Nieve slumps in her seat, and Elma places a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Relax, you didn't know. No one's going to hold it against you. Now, the real question is, are we really going to go through with this? It's not something I'm looking forward to, but I say we do it." You have no idea what she's talking about. Nieve shakes her head. "I don't want to go back. Even if there's something wrong, you can go without me." Elma turns to you. "Well, you've got a say in this too. What do you say; we'll take you back to our village and get this sorted out. Sound good?"

    >Any alternatives?

Elma chuckles slightly, impressed. "Well, I'm not even sure if our elders will even let you in to the village, but it's not like we can call them or write a letter. Vieran settlements are officially known to the general public, but I think you could probably count the number of outside visitors to one of them during the last hundred or so years on one hand." Laya nods, folding her towel neatly. She smells like incense. "Yes, Vieran society is very insular... I doubt you will be received very eagerly. But it is most likely our only option... Luckily, our village is not far from here, considering. It should not be too much trouble to get there, and it would only be for a little while." Fyna nods, clapping a hand on your shoulder. "Yeah, it's not like you've got a job anyways. Then again, neither do I..." Elma nods with finality, cementing the decision, and looks out at the sun. It is nearing midday. "We should get going, if we want to be back before dark." She turns to Nieve, whose gaze is fixed on her knees. Her tone is somewhat softer than you're used to. "I know you don't want to go back, but no one's going to turn you away. You know how they worry about you. If you really don't want to go, I won't force you." Nieve sighs, looking at you for a moment. "No, I'll go. It's my responsibility, anyways." Looks like that's that. You should probably get ready for a whole day's journey, and sort any remaining issues out now.

As far as work and classes are concerned, you're free for the time being. You moved in quite early in order to get acquainted with the new town before classes began, and you have no summer session to attend to. As far as work is concerned, your previous employer has yet to transfer your position anywhere even remotely close to where you live now. It will be some time before that comes together, but luckily you are frugal enough to have built up some savings.

Our neighbors aren't ready for groundbreaking Canadian prog rock or Mercury's soul-petting vocals. Especially because if we played either in a car on a roadtrip, we would have to sing along and air drum. When we don't know our musical prowess, that's dangerous.

    >Pack, prepare for a ROAD TRIP.

Before you head back to your apartment for provisions, you stop to see how Nieve is doing. It's obvious that returning to her home village is troubling her. She smiles weakly at you, assuring you that everything is all right. "I just didn't leave on very good terms... There's really nothing there for me. I'll be okay though, I promise. And thanks." She smiles again, and this time it is genuine. You dash back to your apartment, stashing your STRANGE CLOTHES, your CELL PHONE, your WALLET, a FIRST AID KIT, some GRANOLA BARS, and a small POCKET KNIFE in your SMALL BACKPACK. As you make your way to your car, you notice that the Viera are bringing their tree effigy. You're puzzled, but you pop the trunk and the five of you stow everything with no problems. Laya hands you a tightly-wrapped bundle, winking and patting it proudly. "I did my best with what I had, but I think they turned out all right. You're very lucky, not many people come across materials like that. If you find any more, you might just be worth keeping around." She giggles teasingly as you pile into your small sedan. Elma takes the passenger seat, leaving Nieve sitting between Fyna and Laya in the back. You do one last double check to make sure everything's secure, and hit the road. It is only after you get on the highway that you realize you forgot your mix tapes. Damn!

Now would be a fantastic time to learn about Vieran culture and customs in preparation for your first visit, though you're not sure if you're close enough to all four of the girls to make the subject less than awkward.

Wouldn't it be socially responsible of us to keep an accurate record of this trip, like tape recorder or some such? I don't know what the fuck we're going to school FOR, but this is like anthropological expedition-grade bullshit we're setting out on, if what they say is true about NO SOLICITORS. Before you even have time to adequately form the thought, Elma reads your mind. "Now, I know you've never been to a Viera village before. Not many people have, unless there's an emergency or something. If you don't want to be tied up and thrown into the forest for all the beasties to snack on, just follow what we do and don't wander off. ESPECIALLY don't let your little eyes wander, and watch what you say; despite how stealthy you might think you are (you wince at this), if you so much as yawn everyone in the village will know. Now shut up and drive."

Nieve giggles as you groan. The gravity of the situation is apparently lost on the other girls. Thankfully, Nieve changes the subject; her spirits seem to have risen somewhat by being cramped in the back seat, though the windows are all halfway down to prevent the crippling claustrophobia that plagues the Vieran race. "It is customary to bring our home's totema back to its origin point, to reestablish our link with the Wood. To leave it here would be rather disrespectful." Well, that explains that.

Elma bats you on the side of the head, stating that you have "no hope." Laya suppresses a giggle and Fyna rolls her eyes. You decide that the time for coy double entendre is probably over, and get down to brass tacks. Elma scoffs. "Our elders think that staying in the village and living without any influence from the outside world keeps them more attuned to the Green Word. It's like a cult, almost; the Viera call it the "Green Way." Don't get involved with outsiders, don't mix with other races, help your family. The Wood is their life. More and more lately, though, younger Viera are leaving their villages and mingling with the outside world. I personally don't buy into that whole Green Way thing, but I can respect it. That's what it comes down to. Oh, you're going to have to pull off the road pretty soon, there aren't any paved roads where we're going." You oblige and pull onto a rough dirt road when indicated. The trees are very thick here, and eventually the road all but disappears. The five of you climb out of the car, the Viera stretching and rubbing shoulders and knees. Packs are donned as Elma points south, deeper into the forest. "It's that way. Say goodbye to everything you might have heard before, 'cuz this is something only a few people ever see."

The four of you trek through the wood, the taller Viera easily outpacing you, though Nieve hangs a bit behind her kin to sneak glances back at you every once in a while. You busy yourself with the parcel Laya handed you; you figure there's no harm as long as you don't parade them around in front of the girls' elders.

    Whoa.

Inside the parcel are a pair of cestus, carved from the ash wym teeth. Your fingers slide comfortably into the holes set into the concave face of the each tooth, and the serrated outer edge looks sharp enough to maim. A bronze grip completes the weapon, along with several inscriptions in what you assume to be Vieran writing. You'll have to think of a name for these babies later. You hastily slide them into your pack as the forest gives way to an astounding sight. The trees in this section of the forest curve outward, creating an almost perfect, sphere-shaped clearing large enough to fit your entire complex. Within this clearing are a number of intricately-constructed homes, somewhat resembling weaver birds' nests. Talismans and charms seem to hang from every branch, and the whole place has an incredible air of mysticism, like time has stopped. You stop for a moment and look around, the whispers of the Green Word resonating in your head. Elma stops and leaps neatly into one of the trees nearest to you, disappearing into one of the constructs in its branches. You gawk for a moment at your surroundings; it's all a bit much to take in. Laya turns to you, as Fyna and Nieve walk towards an impossibly large tree in the center of the clearing. "It will be just a moment. I could show you around, if you like, as long as you stay close. I'm sure this is a bit overwhelming."

"This is one of the places where the people of the Wood can connect to Her. It is also the origin point of much of the Mist in the area." You nod, and the two of you walk around the village for a while. When you ask if it would be all right to record your visit in some way, Laya quickly shakes her head, her hair making silvery waves in its wake. "I'm afraid that would be frowned upon by our elders. You must understand." You nod sagely, but make a mental note of a notebook you had set aside after the events of the previous day. It would be best to be as attentive as possible during your time here. Laya points to where you entered the village, and you notice Elma and another village hop down from the hut she had entered earlier.

The two viera stride powerfully over to the rest of you. You can tell Elma is in her element here, but she's remaining quiet. This other Viera must be one of the elders. The older woman looks you over somewhat disapprovingly before turning to Nieve and Fyna, who have joined you once more. "So, my daughter tells me that you are having trouble with the Mist, Hume. I cannot imagine why that would be so." You can almost feel Nieve shrink back from the imposing figure in front of you. THIS is Elma and Fyna's mother?! You do your best to remain stoic but respectful, stating your reasons for visiting clearly and concisely. Elma's mother nods, the beads around her neck rattling as she raises a hand to her chin thoughtfully. She turns to Elma again, who straightens immediately. "You must take this one to the shaman, to assess just how deeply he has drunk of the Mist. Then you must leave." Elma nods, and the five of your depart, Elma leading the way. Everyone is rather quiet, and now that you are alone you consider asking if everything is all right. Elma's pace has quickened, and your group has exited the main village and entered a smaller sphere, somewhat removed from the rest of the settlement.

    >>Examine SURROUNDINGS.

You look around, curious at the lack of activity within the village. You can feel eyes on you from all angles; obviously the Viera's legendary suspicion of outsiders can be substantiated. You focus again on Elma's slender but powerful back, confident that now is not the time to probe her personal life. Laya looks uncharacteristically cold, and Nieve is practically shivering. Only Fyna remains unchanged by the visit, breathing deeply and looking around, as though to see if anything's changed. Soon the four of you come upon a smaller dwelling, this one at the base of a smaller and incredibly twisted, leafless tree. A viera is standing outside of the dwelling, her hair drawn back into a long, slender ponytail. She wears a garb similar to the one Nieve found herself in the previous day, and carries an impressive-looking staff adorned with all manner of animal bones and colorful fragments. "You are here because you do not know your path, Hume. Speak. Tell me what troubles you, but do not waste my time."

You try to collect your thoughts, but the Word is making it difficult. You can hear another voice within the normal melodious hum of the Green Word, which sounds eerily similar to the shaman who now stands in front of you. The girls look at you, waiting for you to speak; it's clear that none of them are willing to overstep their boundaries in this situation.

    >GOOOOO PLANET!

The shamaness nods, as though you have told her this before. She looks at Nieve, who looks away immediately. "Little one, I understand your feelings, but know that I hold no ill will towards you, nor does anyone in the village, great as the loss of your mother was. You will come to terms with your actions soon enough." Facing you once again, she approaches, towering over you. The effect is like burying your face in a pile of warm pine needles. "What you see is the flow of Mist on this world, taking the form of a second moon. Its waxing and waning are in direct relation to the flow of Mist. It is not uncommon for one's latent awareness to be awoken by ceremonial consumption of the Mistwyne, as that is its purpose. Your awareness of the Word, uneducated though it is, is a by-product of this as well. Furthermore..." The shamaness turns her back to you and the girls, her tone becoming more serious, as if it were possible. "This is not a boon granted to you by the gods. One of your faculties being shown the subtle workings of the world will bring trouble. There is nothing else to say. You may leave."
You can't help but gape. That's it? That's all she can say? You had thought there would be some kind of ceremony, or an antidote or something. All she can say is that you're trouble? You almost speak, but surprisingly Laya beats you to it. "And a Hume possessing the knowledge of the Word is permissible?! There must be a way to--" Before you can blink, the shaman has rounded on Laya, and you're sure that the figures watching you collectively recede. The shaman's voice is cold and even, and all of you flinch at her words. "Do not venture to speak out of turn, child. There is nothing to be done. Leave as you did once before, and weigh more thought on your next return."

Your group walks back to the village entrance in silence, and the sounds of the forest slowly return.

    >Make your way back to the car. Thank the elder.

As you return to the village proper, you find it to be much busier than when you had left. Apparently a good talking-to from the resident shaman was enough to convince the villagers that you are no threat. You realize, though, that they are all more or less ignoring you, or are too busy preparing for nightfall to care about one Hume. Elma and Fyna's mother stands at the entrance to the village, along with an incredibly tall, muscular Viera that you do not recognize. The latter woman is wearing a long apron-like garb and has wrapped her hair in a scarf, adding a matronly air to her. The woman's body, however, looks rock-hard, and her arms and shoulders are criss-crossed with innumerable scars. The women turn as you approach, and the taller one's eyes light up as she notices Laya.

"Ah! My daughter returns! I hear you've been busy out beyond the wood. Not selling our family secrets, I hope!" Laya blushes a bit as you shoot her an impressed look. "No, Mother, I haven't. I still only know a fraction of what you do, anyways." Laya's mother laughs heartily, and you find yourself wondering if this woman is really a Viera. She bends down and hefts a massive bone, which is almost as long as you are tall, and addresses the elder once more. "Well, I've got work to do. One of the hunters found this out beyond the marsh, says it was a recent kill. I'd double the sentries for tonight." The elder nods, and you can envision a cadre of Viera leaping from some hidden place deeper into the forest. Finally, the elder turns to you. "I trust that we should not worry about you having been to our village. May the Word guide you." The five of you offer your farewells and exit the village, heading back to the place where you left your car. When you're about half way there, Elma grabs your shoulder, almost pulling you off your feet. The other Viera stop as well, turning to look. Elma is her usual fiery self once again. "Okay, so you got your answer. Happy? I'm not. We're gonna blow off some steam before we leave here, whether you like it or not. How about it, short stuff? We're gonna put those shiny new fists of yours to work."

You put on your best imitation of Elma's expression and crack your knuckles, signaling your agreement. The other three girls sigh and shake their heads. Fyna laughs. "All right, just don't go messing with any more ceremonial awareness-enhancers. And hurry up, you heard what Laya's mom said."
Elma reaches into her pack and produces a thin, curved blade-- a shamshir, the trademark weapon of the Blue Mage. Drawing the blade, you see that it is a pale blue-green, shimmering with years of care and use. "We're going that way," She points with the tip of her blade to the east, "And downing the first thing we come across that has some fight in it. It's not like I can go to the corner store and buy a bunch of Antlion claws, anyways. Let's go!" Before you depart, you toss Laya your KEYS, which she grabs with a somewhat annoyed smile. "Right. We'll be waiting for you. Don't be too long, the sun's going down." Nieve has remained silent, and has been clutching the tree effigy to her chest since you left the shaman. You shoot her a concerned look, which she waves off. "Go ahead. We won't leave without you." Elma stretches impatiently. "No one else wants to come? Am I gonna have to do everything?" At this, you consider bolting off ahead of her, knuckles at the ready. Your years of experience with fighting games has already thought up a few flashy moves that are sure to put her in her place.

With your newfound perceptions, you know that you are inherently capable of utilizing the skillset FISTFIGHT. Currently, your abilities include the skills AIR RENDER, BACKLASH, and COUNTER. You are also cooking up a surefire one-hit-kill move trademarked to your as of yet unnamed weapons.

Using your expanded awareness, you note that Elma is currently a BLUE MAGE with the spells DRAGON FORCE (I shit you not, it's a real spell), FLAME BREATH, and WHITE WIND. Laya and Fyna are just out of sight, but you can make out their jobs, a SPELLSWORD and a WHITE MAGE, respectively.

You dash off into the underbrush with Elma, occasionally overtaking her with sudden bursts of speed, which she easily overcomes, laughing wildly at the challenge. The two of you eventually come upon a stream meandering through the wood, and Elma stops to examine some tracks next to the softly gurgling water. It appears that there are several sets of tracks leading north, while a single set of larger tracks follows the stream further east. It's obvious which way Elma wants to go, but she's not too keen on leaving you in the forest to find your way back. The light is still good enough to examine the tracks more closely, but Elma is getting impatient.

Deciding that this is most likely Elma's element anyways, you follow her along the stream, which eventually widens into a small grotto in a wide clearing. Beside the water is a strange beast; it has a wide and flat body, with four outwardly splayed legs and a long, thick scaled tail, Its head seems to be divided into thirds, with two upper jaws above a larger, powerful lower jaw. Stranger still, the thing is covered in a shaggy coat of long fur. Elma eyes the beast hungrily. "Ah, a baritine croc. They're not usually out when it's so hot. Guess this one's lost. Lucky for us. All right then, show me what you can do. This thing shouldn't be too tough, and you can always tap out if you feel like wetting yourself." Elma's gaze is enough to stun a full-grown Gigas, but you have to admit you're a bit nervous, even with your newfound abilities. The crocodile hasn't quite noticed you yet, and is busy drinking noisily from the grotto. Now would be a great time to get a jump on it, but the sight of those powerful jaws has you second-guessing yourself...

Same range, actually. The other one is shorter range but can hit targets outside of its normal range due to its blast radius. This blast-radius induced extension in range allows it to be just as long ranged as Air Render.

You decide to stick to the basics, and not waste your element of surprise. Sneaking around the perimeter of the grotto, you clamber up onto an outcropping as quietly as possible, Bolt and Mercury at the ready. Calling upon your inner conduit to the Mist, you augment the air around your fist to bend an accelerate, effectively punching the reptile from a distance. From the reaction, you might as well have thrown a paper ball at it. The shaggy croc notices you, letting out a cry oddly reminiscent of an opera singer. You seize the moment and leap from the outcropping, careful to avoid the now-gaping jaws of the beast. You plant one fist squarely into the croc's back, the razor-sharp weapon leaving a gash big enough to stick your head into. Your opponent howls with pain and rage, twisting around in an attempt to snap a limb off. It barely gets a third of the way around when a dreadful rushing sound fills the air. Your eyes snap immediately to the source of the sound; Elma stands directly in front of the both of you, a twisted wyvern's horn magically sprouting from the side of her head as her eyes become golden and predatory. She inhales deeply, and you leap off of the croc just in time to avoid the white and gold flames that soon engulf your mark, the ground behind it, and most of the grotto. Picking yourself up slowly, you stare at Elma, who has already lost all of her draconic features. She lets out a puff of smoke nonchalantly and looks back at you. "You were taking too long. Help me carve something and let's get going."

As you protest that you were, in fact, taking just the right amount of time to murder a hairy alligator, Elma laughs and severs the beast's still-twitching tail, taking note of the color and thickness of the meat. "And I suppose you would have been fine when it caught you in those jaws and started going into a death roll? I think ranged fighting might be more your style. Speaking of, I'm glad you can recognize mine, at least. It wasn't easy taking down that drake, let me tell you. Other mages learn their spells from books or scrolls, but I get to fight for mine." She flexes her free hand into a fist for a moment, a smattering of golden-red scales rippling across it. You make short work of carving out the croc's impressive vocal cords and stashing them in a bag for later use. What kind of use, you have no idea, but they're surely good for something. Elma begins to recount tales of her acquiring Blue Magic while the two of you walk back through the darkening woods towards the road, soon catching sight of your dusty pile of junk. You can just make out the shapes of the girls inside; Nieve has taken the passenger seat, and Laya is leaning on Fyna, probably asleep. As you heft the croc's tail and your pack into the trunk with everything else, Elma smiles at you approvingly, patting you on the arm. "Don't worry too much about that one- a few more like that and you'll be doing all right. Now, let's go home." You nod and slide into the drivers' seat, unsure of whether or not you should wake the others.

Elma sits behind you, crossing her arms and resting her elbows on the back of your seat. She's practically talking into your left ear, most likely for the sake of the other girls. When you finally work up the nerve to ask about what happened in the village, Elma sighs, leaning back for a moment as if to reconsider talking to you. When she does talk, her tone is somewhat wistful.
"I don't want to get into the details too much, it would be unfair to her," You guess that she's referring to Nieve, "But basically, when we were younger Nieve's mom was the village's shaman. Nieve pretty much grew up expecting to take her place, but before she was old enough there was an accident, and her mom died. She never told me what happened. Everything sort of went to hell for her after that, and we all started realizing that maybe we didn't want to live in the forest till we died, so we decided to leave. Our parents made us take the Pact so that we could look out for each other, but none of us ever really wanted to come back. Kind of sends the wrong message after we make the break from tradition, y'know? As for Fyna... I never know what she's really thinking. I was originally the next in line to be Warder after our mom, but Fyna never had any interest in that... I'm amazed she was so calm today. It was torture listening about how much of a disappointment we all are to them."
You decide not to press the issue too much and set the radio to something soft and ambient. Soon, Elma has fallen asleep against the seat, her ears occasionally brushing against your head. You're still plenty awake, thankfully, though now that it's so quiet you can hear the Green Word buzzing away in your head. Strangely, you can hear what sounds like the girls' voices - no, hear is the wrong word. What you sense in the tumult of the Green Word are the same feelings you identify with each of them; it's a bit like you're eavesdropping on their dreams.

    >Listen to the GREEN WORD.

As usual, it's almost impossible to decipher a damn thing the Word is saying - it all just sounds like a bunch of half-whispered nonsense to you. Maybe that's the point, though. If you remember everything that Nieve and the shaman have told you, the Green Word isn't just the voice of the forest, but a kind of road map for the circulation of Mist. Why would it be in English? You attempt to focus more on feeling rather than logic, and you start to get a half-formed idea of how it works. You continue in this fashion you get too bored and frustrated to continue, but thankfully by then you've just about made it home. The girls begin to stir as you pull into the apartment complex (Viera are known, among other things, for their incredible timing) and you help them gather their things from your trunk. Laya stares in disbelief at the croc tail, looking disapprovingly at Elma. "What? He said he wanted to keep it, who am I to judge?" As you begrudgingly take the bloody tail stump, Elma gives you a thumbs-up. You say your good-nights and prepare to make your way into your room for some well-deserved shut eye; your shoulder has become a little sore from landing poorly on the crocodile earlier. Before you can make it to your door, however, your realize Nieve has stayed behind, still clutching the tree totem to her chest and looking at you over it. "Um... do you have a minute?"

    >Invite Nieve back to the apartment.

You suggest that it might be easier to talk when your arms aren't full of stinking crocodile meat, and head in to your apartment. Nieve sits on the loveseat, her arms wrapped around the tree totem. You busy yourself with attempting to shove the tail into your freezer without getting blood everywhere, which succeeds admirably. you wipe your hands on a towel as you head back into the den, flopping down on the couch. Nieve looks down somewhat nervously, pulling the totem closer to her. You cock an eyebrow and ask what's on her mind.

"Well, uh, I'm not really sure how to ask this, but... um... do you... like... Elma?"

Nieve smiles, blushes noticeably and resumes looking at her feet, fidgeting a bit. "O-oh, I see. Well, that's good, then. Sorry to ask such a weird question. I'll, uh, see you around, okay?"

You bid her good-night and close the door, scratching your head at the whole situation. Man, as if Hume women weren't complicated enough, Viera are a whole other kettle of fish. After completing your exercises for the night, you decide that it's best to get some sleep. It's been a full day.

Well OP I think I am going to crash as well.

So far so good. I think you are a pretty decent writer, if I may say so myself. Looking forward to the next part.

It's easy to forget when Nieve's acting all cute and shy and anonymous is GO FOR IT that Nieve is actually seven feet fucking tall and probably stronger than most people on /tg/
    >> Anonymous 09/12/10(Sun)05:31 No.12056004
I've been lurking this quest since it started, and the fact that it hasn't become a fapquest is piquing my interest.

I don't mind sex happening as a part of the overall plot, but the game PURELY being about sex is fucking stupid.

I shall lurk more and perhaps participate soon, if things keep up as they are.

I'm also a fan of the FFT/Job system this is running. Nostalgia'd hard.

its hard trying to remind everyone that theres an actual quest and not just a fapfic, AND NIEVE THAT WHORE IS A LITTLE COCK TEASE, WELL I WILL NOT FALL SO EASILY BUNNY, IF YOU THINK IM GONNA THROW OUT ALL THAT WORK I PUT INTO THE OTHER 3 JUST BECAUSE YOU KEEP CRAVING MY COCK YOU GOT ANOTHER THING COMING

Hey now, FAPQUEST would be a stupid idea, nobody's debating that. I'd just personally like to see the GM NOT arbitrarily shy away from perfectly good opportunity for sexy shenanigans.

Hotness and PLOT do not have to be mutually exclusive. Plus banging all four bunnies would probably do hilarious things to the group mechanics that would make the QUESTAN AN FIGHTAN all the more enjoyable.

    >plot
The plot will happen. Currently, the plot IS just Main Character Man getting to know the girls until something interesting pops up, so perfect excuse for hijinks.

    >Nieve = slut
That's why we need to lead her on and make HER do the initiating. Because shy domineering tall bunnygirls are hot.

You kinda just mirrored what I said, man. I dunno if you saw something in my post wrong, or what, but...

Anyway, I wish one of the girls was a Time Mage. I used to love Stop + Charge 8 + Monk/Samurai/Knight for one-shot hilarity.

    Ah well.

Sorry if my post was utterly redundant. I'm just being redundant. There was no need for it. It was totally superfluous.
