The Overmind has roused from Its long silence, and provided the Swarm with its newest agent: Kerrigan, infested and prepared to do Its Will. She still seems off to us, as if she does not belong. She has taken Mengsk, whose punishments we finally concluded. We are not saddened by her departure.

Our problems number many, but Kerrigan is not among them.

Meanwhile, infested Raynor remains on Umoja, preparing to begin a career as the head of a mercenary company, Raynor's Raiders. He does this because the Umojan Protectorate and its Kel-Morian Combine cohorts refuse to even speak with him.

Spylord reports that security in Confederate space has become of paramount concern to its government. Checkpoints are being maintained, with bio-scanners that it fears may notice the considerable biological changes resulting from the infestation process. A strict curfew is in effect on all Confederate worlds. Interstellar traffic has been near-universally co-opted by government authorities.

The Protoss still elude us, as well. That Templar, Feneschal, has hidden them well. We must be cautious of her. Also, we must watch for her dark cousins, who may strike down Cerebrates permanently.

    From the last thread:
Kingston is likely preparing the Confederacy for our incursions. He's seen us operate, experienced first-hand our (to him) clumsy attempts at infiltration and subterfuge. That is likely why the Confederacy is moving towards martial law, and he may have informed the Protectorate and the Combine about the possibility of Zerg infiltration.
So, I propose that we execute a full frontal assault against Tarsonis. Kingston will be expecting an attempt at a subtle infiltration and a knife from behind, not a reckless berserker charge straight into the heaviest defenses in the Confederacy.
So, the plan on the surface is an apparent all-out assault against Tarsonis.
The hidden plan is to use the berserker charge as a distraction while infiltrators use Duke's knowledge of the Tarsonis Defense Network to wrest control of the Confederate Navy's weapons systems away from Kingston.
The plan within the hidden plan, our true objective, is to use a flight of cloaked nukes to reduce the Tarsonis space defenses to rubble, then send in our captured Protoss carriers to reduce the surface of Tarsonis to ash.
If the first plan succeeds, then all is well. If the second plan succeeds, then we will control one of the most powerful fleets in the Sector. And if the third plan succeeds, then we will have destroyed the heart of the Confederacy, and given Kingston but a taste of our wrath and vengeance.

Next time we find the Protoss world, we'll RAM it with mostly uninhabited Zerg World. No letting the fuckers get away again.

Have Labbrate spawn more overlords to take control of the primary kaydarin crystal used in the Protoss warp network. Then, have it begin attempting to fabricate the necessary warp gates needed to create stable warp endpoints.

Begin construction of cloaked nukes for our eventual fight with Kingston. At least 20.
Continue using the psi emitter to take control of more of the rogue Zerg Broods.
As for the other Broods, have them replenish their numbers in preparation for the bloody fight against the Confederacy.

They would only be able to get away like that again in the laughably remote case that they had another crystal the size of Tsinoseng.

A bit big of a plan for one post. Gonna have to have some support, first.
    >> Anonymous 08/23/10(Mon)21:45 No.11799209
Our first goal is defence. To the overmind and all our brothers and sisters we should construct a defense agasint these knives in the dark. 24-hour watch, and close units for killing these Protoss.

How goes the control of the Dark Ones?

And controling the powers of the large crystals we fougth so hard to control?

If martial law is the ruling idla, go after the marshals. We have a mayor, we must have realitives of important famlies. Go to them as the sick, begging for help. Infest them. COntrol the screening process - after all, if no one can enter without being infected, clearly their law is working, isn't it?

    Of course, of course.
The plan is for a berserker charge straight into the waiting guns of the Confederacy's strongest defenses; we will need the strength of numbers to be able to pull this off.
Besides, the linchpin of this plan is being able to deploy a flight of cloaked nukes while the Tarsonis Defense Grid is occupied shredding our forces to a bloody pulp. We need to have those nukes ready first.

I'm just asking for support for this strategic objective and operational plan.

Yes, this was the plan in the first place. To use Jormungand Brood and the salvaged Tiamat and Garm Broods to smash their way through the Tarsonis Defense Grid. They'll keep the Confederacy busy while we try to sneak in and take control of the Defense Grid using Duke's knowledge about the Confederacy's defenses.
Kingston will inevitably have predicted this and will foil us, but it won't do him a bit of good when our cloaked nukes hit the atmosphere of Tarsonis and turn the surface into a radioactive wasteland.

I agree with this but for one point: Kingston doesn't know we have access to 'toss stuff yet. If we do go this route it may be better to keep the carriers in reserve in case things go really tits up.
I mean, it's not like we can't just go all-out with the ground invasion and take Tarsonis that way. Better yet, this may help convince Kingston that we prefer the brute-force approach more than stealthy-stealthy one.

The reason why I want to wait until we have our warp gates finished is so that we won't have to move our forces away from defending our bases.

    Here's how I envision it:
With the warp network, once we have a warp gate in position, we simply warp in our Zerg forces from their staging areas at their bases. This means that if Kingston tries to attack, say, Antiga Prime thinking that it's defense forces might be depleted because we're tangling with the Tarsonis Defense Grid, he'll only end up crashing against our entire Brood.

We can also set up manufacturing and Hive clusters in uninhabited yet resource-rich systems and warp the products directly to the front line without waiting for days in warp travel.

I've gone googly eyed at that. Genuine googly eyes.

Warping to the front is perfectly reasonable, and I'm fairly sure Labbrate has a blank check to make it happen. I'm not sure if we can warp them back, though. If we can then everyone is fucked forever. Especially if we can convince the other Broods to fight beside us.

If Aiur Warp has a limited range, then we'll move Aiur to keep it working. The Protoss may not be happy with this desecration, but fuck them.

Also rush in some zergling patrols. Zerglings are cheap, and it might flush out whoever is there.

Keep our space forces busy with patrols, though. They might have an extraction planned, and I don't want them getting away.

We lost some expendable stuff which has done its job as ablative armor. Ghosts, other long ranged units, have a longer range than defenses. That they had to expend their surprise on defenses instead of factories means Defensebrate did Good.

Defensebrate: Just for future reference, mobile units are a part of defense too. Not just fortifications. Just FYI man.

That said, lets keep some detectors back to surround our base, along with escort ground units to make sure that nothing sneaks into the hole. This might be an expensive diversion to sneak something nasty into some place more sensitive.

Have Defensebrate and Warbrate analyze the pattern of the explosions. It's likely that they're trying to breach our inner defenses by using the explosions and the obvious Ghost presence as a ruse.
See what they could be going after.
Get cloaked Overlords and mutalisks to the area as well as to our important buildings, and have ground forces dispatched to our sensitive facilities where they will burrow in.

Also: on other planets institute aerospace patrol with muta/scourge/overlord and have overlords and other detectors keeping an eye on base perimeters. In addition to everything else. Hatch more overlords if necessary.

We can't make a raid like this totally impossible with anything less than total effort, but even some will make something like this very difficult to do.

    Good question.

For reasons of clarity, I'm going to allow you guys the metagame knowledge that the drone isn't special except in that it is carrying the Psi Emitter, which is broadcasting our thoughts at volume 11. Having it morph into a hatchery may or may not leave us with a hatchery that is in no way under our control and has no resources to Spawn Moar Ovarlords.

    Just FYI.
    >> Anonymous 08/23/10(Mon)23:47 No.11800707
Let's morph the drone into a hatchery, and then we immediately make another drone to collect resources and an overlord. The overlord will take the psi emitter to Tsinoseng and after getting the overlords that were there back under control, warp the psi emitter to Xenta.

I think it's too dangerous to send just the drone with the psi emitter. It could potentially be swarmed by rogue elements before we can get the psi emitter to us.

I agree. Let's get the drone to the nearest Hatchery or Hive, so that we can see if it's possible to reassert control. We should be trying to get control of any units that come within range.
Once we've got some overlords under control, we have to bring the psi emitter back to Xenta via Tsinoseng.
    >> Cerebrate Anon 08/23/10(Mon)23:55 No.11800797
We move the drone around, gathering forces. After a little experimentation, we find that moving too far away from the Emitter causes units to go fuzzy and eventually fall back out of our control. We seem unable to make buildings respond to us, though we can sense them again when they are near the Emitter.

We have overlords, and so we can transport our Emitter anywhere on Aiur, or perhaps Zerg World. We don't think taking the slow path back to Xenta without Warp travel is advisable. Where shall we go?

We move the Emitter to the Southern continent and surround Tsinoseng with as many overlords as we can muster. We're unsure of how many we actually need, as Labbrate was not finished with its research. We hope they are enough.

After a few moments' fumbling psionic experimentation, we believe we have a feel for the crystal. We are fortunate: Besilus is the moon on which we were first made manifest. It is our first and only true home, even if our base of operations is now Xenta. We will always know where Besilus is.

We focus, press psionic energy through our link as if it is all that matters in the universe, and hope. The crystal glows. Pain shoots through the minds of our overlords. A blue light envelopes the drone and its Emitter, and both disappear. The pain recedes from the overlords' minds, and the buzzing returns quickly, as their thoughts begin to fade away.

A searing pain runs through us as the Emitter and its severely injured drone arrive on Besilus. It seems that Protoss Warp travel without a receptacle such as a Warp Gate or Gateway is incredibly dangerous and painful.

The drone hobbles on broken legs, ichor pulsing from a severed stump. It will grow back, but for now it is a liability. The drone approaches Labbrate, and we feel our intellect expand magnificently. Labbrate's voice echoes in our mind again, praising us for returning to it, and lamenting the horrible fate of living in silence.

Labbrate considers the use of the Psi Emitter to combat the Disruptor brilliant. It praises our strategic thinking.

It theorizes that so long as contact remains between us and a cerebrate, the cerebrate may be able to extend the range of our control. It seems to resign itself to something before it speaks again.

Labbrate informs us that the resources necessary to reproduce the Emitter are on Xenta, not Besilus. It suggests regaining contact with Accountantbrate and coming back for it once we have a solid hold on our troops on Xenta.

It imprints the designs of the Emitter into our thoughts.

We transfer the Psi Emitter to a less edge-of-death drone and load it onto an overlord. It begins its journey as Labbrate's voice, buzzing at the edges, wishes us luck and asks that we not leave it in the silence too long.

We locate Accountantbrate at the center of its Hive Cluster quite easily. For the first time in a long, long span, it makes sounds of happiness instead of groaning about resources. We fill it in on the plan, and it imprints on our thoughts the locations of resource stockpiles and the facilities in the old Terran city which could be adapted to produce Psi Emitters. It begins groaning again, because we will have to leave it in the silence again to reach the factories.

We hear Accountantbrate groan in anxiety as the buzzing overtakes its voice.

Navigating the city as renegade zerg alternate between forlorn seizures and mindless slaughter is treacherous, but the Emitter allows us to recruit an honor guard for the drone.

That same guard helps us manipulate the machinery in the factory, and begin production. It takes nearly an hour for Emitters to roll off the line. We take a dozen to our physical form to imprint our psionic image onto them. Before long, we have Emitters planted next to Accountantbrate and Labbrate (who spend a few moments reveling in the ability to sense one another again), as well as around the factory. We have teams bringing crops of Emitters hourly for imprinting.

It seems that having an Emitter near our cerebrates increases the range that our Zerg may travel from the Emitters before the begin to fade away from our mind.

Labbrate quietly asks us if we have severed our tie from the Overmind. It reminds us that if we do not do so, we may die, as Cerebrates cannot survive without an Overmind. If we sever our connection, we may be able to function as an overmind in our own right, as we did once, long ago.

Also, ginormous 'vent mouths' which can speak (ala the Mycon of Star Control) which will continually sing, read poetry, conduct operas, and ring praise of the beautifully wondrous nature of these two planets' and their shared ballet dance through the cosmos. Trust me, seeing such a marvel of galactic art by such 'low born crawly things' will flip her shit and leave her mind putty on the floor. In other words, show the 'toss that the 'devouring' is nothing more than Peronist pressganging into our fleshy spongey labour unions and unique individuals are still allowed free reign to succeed beyond their wildest dreams. I'm talkin' bout, wherever you look, no matter what disgusting bodily fleshy materials the landscape might be made out of, the sheer artistry and technique would make even the most hardened and jaded marine weep. Pic related as an example, imagine that's Zergworld in the back, the water a specially crafted shiny and reflective creep, the closer mountains are spore colonies, the valley in the far back, the overmind's l'il hideyhole, and the sky filled with overlords, guardians, and mutalisks of different broods flying in ever-evolving fractal formations.

And as an added fuckyou, the atmosphere is poisonous only to uninfested 'toss. Mega. Fucking. Troll.

Now with that image out of the way, allow me to catch up with today's thread.

Shit, you might be right. Do as he says. We can withdraw later if it's truly disruptive, but if the Overmind is still around we need to request a diversion to give Kingston & co. something to do while we warm up Operation FUCK THE CONFEDERACY.

We send another Emitter to Araq, and the interference fades away. Araq is suddenly in our mind the way Labbrate or Citybrate (as of right now!) is. It is confused, joyous at being out of the silence, but feeling unsure of its position.

TL;DR version. We got owned by Kingston because the bastard brought on the Psi-Disrupter. We're regaining control via Psi-emitter spam, and might be the only ones disrupted. New overall consensus is to BURN THE CONFEDERACY TO THE GROUND via COLONY DROP ABUSE.

You will feel anger. Much anger. And a burning desire to Colony Drop Tarsonis into rubble.

As of now Cerebrate Anon is assuming temporary Command and Control of the Swarm. If and when we find the Overmind, we'll relinquish control (OOC: When pigs fly). Until that moment, however, the Zerg need leadership, and we're it.

Also, begin psi-controlling Araq's forces for him, and place them under his control again.

Inform Araq of the situation, and that until contact with the Overmind can be re-established, we are assuming direct control.

I know that Labbrate hasn't had much time yet, but how's work on Tsinoseng and the psionic amplification structures coming along?
    >> Cerebrate Anon 08/24/10(Tue)01:54 No.11802238
    >>11802186
The structures seem like a bust. We might be able to assemble a stronger Psi Emitter, but Labbrate isn't sure.

Tsinoseng is promising. Labbrate thinks that with some work, it could create a feedback loop and fry the Disruptor, assuming we can give it an idea of where the Disruptor is...

We tell Araq what has happened, and it does not approve. Cerebrates in direct control of Cerebrates? Our own mutated cerebrates were bad enough, but the holy Spawn of the Overmind serving any but the Overmind Itself? Araq cannot resist our will, but it is very disapproving.

Our carrier arrives at Char. The surface crawls with renegade Zerg, some of them burnt from falling or even walking into magma vents.

(I'm going to have to cut out, soon. I do have work in the morning. I usually don't work Tuesdays. It's weird)

Okay, I've got an early wake up tomorrow so I'm signing off and going to bed. Goodbye overplayed sig, now becoming my overplayed name.]

Assuming direct control of swarm. Heh. A good place to sign off. Next week, revenge for this transgression.

Tell Araq that this is a temporary measure, and that there is little choice with the Overmind drowned out be interference. Show it the images we have of Char and of the Zerg there having gone rogue.

See if the carrier can get in range of the Overmind's physical presence, but bug out (heh) if it gets too dangerous. We'll come back with more psi emitters, then.

Good point. Next week can begin with the mission on Char and Labbrate's use of Tsinoseng.

Will it be able to deliver on its promises, or will the Swarm have to mount an assault on the Confederacy while psionically crippled?

Find out next week! Same Zerg-time! Same Zerg-Channel!

You need to stop with that. Hydralisks should not be wearing trucker hats and mullets. Stop that now. That's the terrans' schtick.

Hmm, how about living psi emitters? Whatever the Overmind did to Kerrigan, he needs to share with us, so that we might take other psi-imbued humans and merge and play with their DNA. Think of it, infested terrans/fleshlings just under the 'psi-storm capable' bracket, who project or reject psionic occurrences. Now drop'em in a group and let'em mingle. (basically whomever we fight we modify a living emitter/canceller of their species so they can stand around loitering and blocking shit.) Next, we need to capture a psi disruptor, as the terrans are sure to mass produce them now knowing our weakness. Reverse engineer it into a psi canceller, which when activated nullifies both emitter and disruptor frequencies. (It may be beyond our current capabilities to fine-tune such a machine without also exposing ourselves to a concentrated mind attack, best to turn back the clock when terrans are around to before we, and they, had any of them at all.)
This way when Kingston thinks we've done only a single frequency, and adjusts it accordingly, no psionics at all other than in-born psionic traits function properly. We may need more overlords in suspected usage zones to prevent a riot, however.

So anyway Cerbanon what do you think of my 'art world troll' idea? Provided story reasons don't make it impossible I think it would be one heck of a milestone middle finger from 'inferior' to 'superior,' akin to what the European classical music world got over this guy:

I really think the best way to mindfuck Feneschal would be to respond to her in completely unexpected and pacifistic ways. Also such methods might aid in converting the Dark Templar, making them willingly sign on to get away from their fanatical J-pop worshipping brethren. Whoops, wait, that's Klaha. Meh, samediff.
