This thread was on /v/ the other night, probably one of the few things to come good from /v/. It's Monday, and it's nighttime, I thought after a hard day of work, /tg/ could use this.

    Cheers bros, and stay classy.

KEep in mind for Jazz, this isn't happy exciting ragtime style jazz.

    This is soul.

This is feeling. This is the music that makes you smile, sip a drink, and just live.

As such, I will list a few songs
All of these are by The Seatbelts.

    The Singing Sea II
    Space Lion
    Memory
    Adieu

Patricia Barber has a few good songs. I especially liked her Mythologies album.

John Coltrane is an exceptional gentleman.

Frank Zappa in his more calm moments may apply. I suggest the Yellow Shark.

I'll posy others, but alas my music is woefully stinted whilst I am away from my music collection.

    Just a few more.

Oscar Peterson I've found to be somewhat fast, but keeps to being a very solid performer. I recommend his stuff, but with the warning it might be too quick.

Dave Brubeck is also an exceptional man, as mentioned in the "Stayin' Classy" volume put out by /v/

Pink Floyd's, especially The full 25 minute version of Shine on You Crazy Diamond, music, can be very successful in achieving the state of classy. I do suggest leaving the music down, and staying away from their more intense musical pieces however, without the proper build up beforehand. Dark Side of the Moon and Shine on You Crazy Diamond (And Wish You were here, though the whole album is a little weak for this particular listening experience in my opinion.) are very good examples of this.

Van Morrison may apply. I personally enjoyed Moondance very much. Up to you.

Ray Charles, in more light hearted moments, is a very good addition this this. However, he is somewhat niche. When you are in a particularly soulful mood, yet happy, is when I would try his work.

As I designer myself, I must admit I truly enjoy the graceful curves of todays higher end cars. The supple lines, fast appearance, and every the low stature of such things gives way to something quite unlike cars from before its time.

I submit the Maserati Birdcage as one such example, and the BMW GINA as the other. I do hope that I way you. Beauty of a different sort is still beauty.

Though I must agree that we cannot let what was great about older automobiles leave our minds. That truly would be a tragedy.

I do agree, some of today's models are indeed beautiful, but, that beauty seems to be an afterthought, slotted in after the maximum speed is produced, to fit the aerodynamics and reduced to its barest bones to make the auto mobile lighter, such cars of today are beautiful, but alas it is not the designers original intention.

I must apologize for you, sir. For you seem to be mistaken. Speed was always the main concern with automotive makers. Cars have been aerodynamically designed for a long time. Why do you think teardrop-styled wheel-panels existed back then? They were created to match how air flows. Granted some of the design features were never perfect, but speed was always a large concern with manufacturers.

Hmmm. A good question. I can't speak for society really, but as for myself I do admit to being concerned with enriching myself over the good of the whole. However, I would consider my reasons altruistic. I have come from a poor background, and my family has become far poorer in recent years. It is my goal to enrich myself so as to provide support and comfort to my family. My parents, suffering through a terrible divorce and my younger brothers caught in the middle, have all lost their homes and live in small apartments. It's my duty to help them. I must admit that I do not much care for the rest of society outside of that, and probably because I feel to a degree that we ourselves were scorned by society. Of course, should be I be able to enjoy a few of the finer things that life has to offer during the course of this, I shall not complain.

I believe, and this is my own opinion, that many do wish to take designss towards beauty. However, as with so many other things this day, the ideal for cars beauty has become corrupted throughout the years to mean smaller, sleeker and faster. Gone are the muscle cars as we once knew them, and gone are the graceful swoops and falls of older cars. Even boxy shapes ar ebeginning to take hold as "popular." I can only hope that the advent of the smart car, with its powerful engine and design, will herald a focus on greater aesthetics over "performance" such as it is. There will be a time where a city car, whose optimized speed swill be around 30 mph, will be a masterpiece of art, free from the constrains of today's modern fetish for sleek.

Very well good sir. I do wish you luck on your upcoming 21st and hope that it shall be an enjoyable occasion. If I may offer some advice (I hope it shall not be undesired) then please be certain to sample a range of drinks on that day, trying to find what is most pleasing to your palette. Do not merely concern yourself with the traditional "getting drunk." That will come of it's own. Please, do not waste even a second on regular, plebeian beers. If you do wish to enjoy a beer have yourself a fine microbrew. There exists no place in this land that would not offer a decent selection.

    OP cohort here.

I can certainly identify with being from a family that was not well to do. Was born on a military base to a German national and a former Army Ranger in a highly urban area where gunshots were common. I've been attempting to lift myself above the poverty line, having failed my first year of college and having enlisted in the Air Force. I still find that I am instilled with "Old school" methodology. If it's leather, I polish it. If it exists in my care it will be in better condition when my child eventually will receive it than it was when I did.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there, though this thread did not produce much in the way of what might be referred to as 'archive material' (e.g. particularity engaging discussion, talk of work in progress home brews, or another such project) it does meet the requirement of being interesting and awesome. Since, even after the purges, we can still find threads which posses these attributes on the archive it seems to me that anything good for /tg/, and worth remembering, since, does it not say, in the archive rules "Before adding a thread, ask yourself this question: A month from now, will people say, "Remember the thread about ___?", or will they say, "Remember that one story, that single picture, etc.?" Will they remember it at all in a month?" This is one such thread, maybe it could be truncated into a simple screen cap, maybe it could be reduced to little more than an image macro, or a few lines of text, but is that what it deserves?

Far be it for me to criticize the activities of another, especially after such a long Captcha-enforced pause, but I feel I must take a moment to address something. You see, OP, the term "show, don't tell" is often passed around literary circles. What it means is that if you want to describe something, present it like a picture. Instead of mentioning that there is a tree outdoors, discuss its foliage, the loamy ground beneath, crooked roots and soforth.

You might think me meandering, but the point of my interjection is that it is not necessary to identify yourself as the OP every time you post. Let your words speak for you. This also goes for "OP's cohort".

I would agree, but in this case he's only doing it to show his appreciation to those trying to thank him or talk to him, so it is quite understandable.

As for others, to those who wish to make themselves clearly identifiable, let them do so at their own behest. It is their choice, we got rid of forced anonymous here a long time ago.

Though I share a similar disliking to those who do so only for attention, a name or title is the easiest way for someone to be identified, rather carefully analysing each and every post for their tell-tale syntactic style.

Admittedly that is easier with some than others, such as Researcher Sam, anyone familiar with him can spot his posts from a mile off.

This is glorious :O I refuse to believe it originated in /v/

I do believe that this will be my new writing / programming background audio. With occasionally swapped music.

Magic just happened guys. I thought the rainy mood loop was getting louder; "that's odd and sort've dumb." Oh, but it wasn't. It was real rain. I hit pause on rainymood and not a single iota of classy atmosphere was lost.

The directions were atrocious, but I finally made it. This entire place is rife with spambots. How droll. Did I miss anything of consequence?

Excellen/tg/entlemen and Exquisi/tg/entlewomen, I shall refer to myself as "Op's Cohort" only this last time. I shall learn how to give myself a name so that the droll will dissipate. Mort (OP) and I would like to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to join us this eve. We had originally wanted to set up a skype call to discuss gentlethings, but it has turned out as a greater success than either one of us could have anticipated. It was even archived.
We will return again, with better music, more incredibly handsome face parts, a varied assortment of topics and more class.
Again, we wish to thank you /tg/, may you always stay classy. ಠ_ರೃ
