    Right.
    Let's do this.
    For reals this time.

You are Commander David Lister, Elite Mobile Suit Pilot, CO of the veteran Nachtmaren Independant Unit, ZC Holder, Knight of Realm, probable newtype and all round bad-ass.

At the end of our last (successful) session, we'd fought against the best that the Federation had to offer when we made our infiltration of the Jaburo interior and come out... well to be honest we've looked better.

Let's just say that between us, Nimbus Schwarzen, Cima Girahou in a Gyan Marine and the Midnight Fenrir we gave as good as we got okay?

But after fighting so hard to open an entry point into the interior for the convential MS forces fighting up top...

    >"Where's the 101st? They're supposed to relieve us."

    >"They're not coming! All forces have been recalled back to their Gaws! Lord Garma's ordering a full retreat"

    >"What!? WHY!?" You shout over the comms.

    >"The Federation just mounted a full-scale assault on Odessa"

    THE SHIT. IT IS ON.

    Woot.

    From last weeks' discussion:

The plan was to have California send our MSs to New York while we would fly OH and Lil Marleen carrying us, Cirma's team and the Midnight Fenrir. MF can get a transport at NY.

According to our loads, we shouldn't be able to carry anymore more suits. However we should be able to carry over our limit for a short period of time. If we can, the 123rd can just hitch a quick ride to the evac point.

If not... lets use the most trashed suits and set them to self destruct at the entrance. Pilots are the main concern after all. /trollface.jpg

And hey, if we get lucky, perhaps we can finish up at Odessa and get back to wrecking their shit at Jaburo

The orders from on high are to carry out the pre-arranged extraction plan, and then make full speed to Odessa, with company level commanders making their own arrangements for ressuplying their units.

The Nachtmaren and Mashiba Teams extraction plans were to either escape the way you came in, or an airlift via their Zanzibar Cruisers.
You are unsure what the Midnight Fenrir's arrangments were.

For the conventional forces up top, the plan was to secure a pre-designated landing spot for the Gaw carriers and then load up a company a time, under cover by fellow forces and any air units available.

As for replacing your suits, all of your conventional MS are currently in California, which is most assuredly in the wrong direction to where you want to go. However, with your rank and clout with command, you could probably manage to get some Fat Uncle transports to carry the suits you want to a better location where you can pick them up.

YOUR ORDERS? (captcha is 'Papers Gamut' aptly enough)

Potentially? Another 2 in the MA pod and about 6 could probably cling to the top of the ship without too badly overstraining the engines. Don't expect her to handle or dodge fire as well as your used though.

As for the Lili Marleen, she can hold another 2 MS in the hangar bay, and hold about 6 on top as well. But this will strain her engines as she uses a brute force method to hover, whereas the Outer Heaven has more elegant Dom style hoverjet arrangement going on.

I'll be doing a map with your proposed route on it. Give me a few minutes.

The plan last week was to load up in New York then go over the pole to Odessa since it's a shorter route that way.

    >>11443281
I'll do it in a bit if somebody else doesnt.

    >>11443258
Right. We were also going to see if we could get Cima's team a beam rifle or two if possible and the Midnight Fenrir into better suits. Preferrably Doms so they could act in support of the Mashiba team later if necessary.

When we're enroute to NY we should see if the Black Tri-stars are being brought in to help defend Odessa. If not request them, it's rather flat terrain and Doms are good for that. If they are see if we can have some of the last few Pezun Dowdage upgrade kits assigned to them. There were 8 kits made total right?

As for who's here, it's about 4 MS from the 123rd, 3 from the Midnight Fenrir and 4 more from the Mashiba Team, but they have their own way out.

You do realise that Greenland and that part of Canada is Federation Central right? Hence why the northern front has been in continous fighting since the start of the war?
Plus, I'm pretty sure they have bases on either the Antarctic or Arctic, but I don't remember exactly which.
Hell it's only the adverse weather conditions in northern russia and above that prevent them from invading along that route in any serious numbers.

Both the Zanzibar's have arrived. You can easily carry the 123rd survivors yourself.
You ask the Midnight Fenrir if they need a lift.

"That's all right commander, we'll be escaping via the disused water-docks to the east that the Mad Angler team found for us last time. We've got a Submarine waiting for us. We'll meet up in Odessa!"

The Midnight Fenrir team take some spare ammo from the Outer Heaven and make their way off. You all load up in your ship before any more Feds find you and make your escape.

You are currently in the air. There is a Zaku II and a Kampfer riding on your hull.
    The Lili-Marleen is alongside.
Enemy Air forces are still in number, but your new Saber-Tiger fighters are giving a good showing. You can see the Gaw's making their way under escort northwards to the evac point.
Explosions on the ground denote the progress of friendly forces.

I was under the impression that Federation holdings and forces in Europe would be harder to evade than those operating in the wooded areas of Canada or the Arctic Circle. If this impression is wrong, then I am willing to concede to any of the other suggested routes to Odessa.

On the other hand, if the Federation is launching a major offensive on Odessa, wouldn't that mean that their manpower is depleted elsewhere? Would this mean that their troop strength in the northern territories have been reduced in order to gather forces for the Odessa operation?

You place the call for your forces to be shipped to the tip of Africa, somewhere quiet and out of the way from California. You drop of the 123rd survivors.

You wait for confirmation whilst the Outer Heaven continues to aid the evacuating forces as Air Patrol.
    About 15 minutes later...

"Commander! I'm sorry but it's all hands on deck over here! The best I can give you is 2 Fat Uncle transports! Everything else has been sequested by other units!"

"What!? Isn't there any way you can get a spare transport?"

"Hold on... wait, I've got an idea. We could ship the remainder by train to New York, if we flag it highest priority, and break some speed limits, then we might be able to get to New York and I KNOW that there are spare transports in New York."

"Then why don't you just transfer a transport over from there?"

"Because it would take 5 hours for it to arrive anyway! The downside is this, two Fat Uncles on time, and a third with the rest of the stuff you want an hour later. What do you think?"

    "What about the infantry?"

"I might be able to scrounge up a platoon... California DEFINATELY has a couple to spare if you want to wait..."

Yes Odessa has it's own forces, but not enough to stop the advance, or else they wouldn'dt have asked for everybodies help, including Gihren Loyalists.
(Odessa, being under M'Quve's control is pretty firmly Kycillia faction.)

Odessa is important because it's our primary source of resources. Without it we are well and truly fucked. Whereas with Jaburo, between our destruction of the MS block, plus whatever else the Mashiba team managed is probably not going to be making all much of a contribution to the rest of the war.

    1. Primary infantry from New York; if they leave now, then they should arrive at the same time as us. Get a second unit from California to come along with the Rhino if they can spare some; more reinforcements can't hurt, and they'll be able to help guard the transport.

    2. Morocco sounds fine, unless anyone can think of a better location.

Seconding this. Also see if we can get one company supplied with smoke launchers and flares. We could use these guys to generally sow havoc and misdirection. After all, I doubt the Feds are going to casually ignore a Zeon attack flare coming from their flanks or rear. We could use this to hopefully draw out and spread their forces around to make it easier on the defense. And the smokes would be good for covering any counter attacks or tactical retreats.

As for the situation in Odessa...
The Odessa Mining operation extends around the city of Odessa, from the town's of Baraboi, Alterstove and Sverdlove in a roughly circular pattern.
Odessa regional control is just north of city, in the town of Kotovka.
Beyond that, the defensive lines extend out roughly 10 miles out, and consist of 5 defensive lines, attended permanently by at least 1 MS Battalion plus Tanks, MA's and Air Units.
Details are sketchy, but reports indicate that the defenders have a decent number of Dom Mobile Suits as well as Hildolfr's.

As for the attacking forces, current estimates are rough at best, but everything implies a major push of AT LEAST 1 mixed forces Division of Mobile Suits, Tanks, Land Battleships and Fighters. Several Pegasus class carriers have been sighted, and it is strongly believed that General Revil is overseeing this attack.

That's why I was suggesting targeting artillery centers, if we can find them. That's what's going to reduce defensive lines best and quickest, so flattening them 1) puts less firepower on Odessa and 2) forces them to split their attention across the largest amount of territory and the worst angle for trying to direct fire at both Odessa and the relief force (that is, us).

If the Feddies are dumb enough to leave their back side exposed to us, we should stab it. Repeatedly. Unless we can get Gihren's forces to do it. I hear he's practiced at that.

Zeon special forces equipped with beam weapons will need to deal with those carriers and a good number of the suits. The local Hildolfers and Zaku II's should be more than a match for any conventional vehicles and land battleships. The Doms are fast enough to act as roving heavy weapons and fast attack teams, rapidly punching through Federation lines then retreating.

Has Zeon deployed any MS-05L's yet? That'd seriouly help against Fed Mobile suits.

We infiltrated Jaburo via a waterway our intel uncovered and met up with Incognitto who told us they'd put beacons on everything important, but that the MS production block kept getting moved so we'd have to chase it down. After that we headed for the HQ, linked up with Midnight Fenrir and killed the Gundam Mudrock. Bernie nearly got killed by a beamsaber but we threw our luna titanium shield to knock that hand aside, losing us the shield. Our suits were beat up even worse by then so we retreated to a hanger entrance hat that the MF had came in through. You have Anita relay a message to the local area commander that you'll be touching down to swap damaged mobile suits with fresh ones from California.

Anita doesn't give much of a chance to disagree, but you dont think he sounds like the type to rock the boat for the sake of it.

You pass the time before the landing making promotion requests for everybody on the team up to Ensign.

"You know boss, it's a real shame this outfit doesn't give frequent flyer miles"
    Zolomon comments as you touchdown.

"Yeah yeah." you reply as the Outer Heavens bay doors open you and exit first, checking the immiediate area.
You aren't expecting trouble, but you've learnt not to completely discount it either. After scanning the area, the rest of the team exit with their damaged suits.

About 5 minutes later the Fat Uncles join you and their reinforcements begin to offload.
"The Transport carrying the Rhino redirected itself direct to Odessa, and they should be about an hour to 45 minutes behind you."
    The techs inform you.

"How many troops were you able to get?"

"Another 2 squads, luckily we managed to get some Wappa for them to ride. The Californa transport's carrying another Platoon of Dragoons once it arrives."

You scan the skyline again. The sun is beginning to set, you'd better hurry. Who knows how much time the Odessa attack has left.
On the other hand, you've always been pretty effective at night attacks.

The remaining MS's swap over, your MSM's for a pair of Gelgoogs, a Zaku Kai for Bernie and a pair of Pezun Dowdages, all in Nachtmaren colours.

Within 15 minutes you're loaded up and on your way.

    >if we can get him to stop chasing his current obsession
Aside from being a bit of a dick, the last we heard his current obsession was hunting down White Base. We've had reports that there are a number of Pegasus class ships taking part in the attack, which means that Amuro might already be at Odessa. This could be a problem, but it might mean that Char's heading there already.

What really matters is actually getting US there so we can mess up all of those other people that are causing problems. If we can successfully defend Odessa, the whole tone of the ground war is going to change with the smoking holes we let in Jaburo.

First, David, Zol, Jol, Elaine, Calvin and Bernie get dropped onto the back of the Feddie lines and perform some hit and runs on such targets as present themselves. Then we rendezvous with the OH and get to the Odessa defenses. After prepping your team you prepare for a night time raid to the rear of the enemy formation.
From the information on the situation, it seems that enemy forces have already reached the third defensive line, but reinforcements from the Jaburo mission started to arrive a few hours before you and those troops have begun filtering out to the front where needed and the line is starting to stabilise.
But one big push could still spell disaster for you.

Currently locations of enemy supply lines have been kept relatively secret from our intelligence.
But you have found a fairly heavy Artillery force that are causing severe damage to the static defences near Vyhoda.
It looks like 2 Big Tray class battleships and a pair of Assault Gun companies. But they have at least a company of Mobile Suits and several Tank units supporting them.
Plus there's been reports of Pegasus class carriers acting in the area.
Despite this, it still looks like the best place to cause some chaos and take pressure off of the base defenders a little.

All air cover is currently in combat or under repair and refueling. Any air cover would be on a push basis, and only for something REALLY important. Like you find Revil, or you find Revil and he's with another 100 GM's, or you find Revil his 100 GM's and they're being led by the Gundam.
    Stuff like that.

    >Let's turn tonight into a really bad day for some Feddies.

Night. Technically, It's about 10 at night.

Okay, Airdrop, target the Big Tray's first then, the Assault guns then make your retreat before too many of the tanks and Mobile Suits respond.

On the way in you have to shake a roving wing of enemy fighters, but the Outer Heaven manages to lose the pursuit, for now.
As the bay doors open you mount the roof of your ship and spot your target. It's a bit hard to miss with all of that muzzle fire from the Big Tray's.

"Okay! We go in, we hit fast, and we hit hard. I want those Big Tray's out in under 5 minutes and the Assault Guns in 8 and I want us back in the air 10, 15 at the latest! We DON'T hang around here! Stick close to your wingman and keep on mission. Calvin you watch out for enemy reinforcements, Hovis you cover him, Jolyne, Elaine we'll take the first Battleship, Zolomon, Bernard you take the second. And Zolomon, no showboating we don't have the time. Ready?"

    "Sir!" They all chorus.

The seven of you dive into the night towards the enemy fire.

Falling at high speed you all angle yourselves for the best line of attack. At 200 meters you all drop grenades or fire bazooka shots at your targets and hit your thrusters to complete your HANO drop wduring the initial chaos and confusion.
Explosions blossom the ground below you and you land amidst explosions.
You quickly sight your target, the enemy Big Tray.

"Elaine, you and Jolyne take out the main turret's, I'll take the command superstructure!"
Beams flash out from behind you as you leap upwards onto the Big Tray, confused gunners spray defensive fire at you, but there shooting is inaccurate. You put 3 rapid beam shots into the bridge and follow it up with 3 more to make sure.
The port side Turret erupts upwards in a plume of fire as a shot from Jolyne lances through it, and you leap off just time as it's ruptured ammo magazine brews up and detonates. You're sensors pick up another explosion to the north east, looks like Zolomon's on track as well.

You see the tracked Assault Guns retreat from you at high speed and you pull out your Bazooka and give chase, your explosions taking the clustered artillery pieces in groups. Elaine and Jolyne following you up with devestating beam fire.

"Watch out! Enemy Guntanks to your left!" Zolomon warns and you dodge out of the way of close range cannon fire. You turn to see 3 MP Guntanks advancing away from you for better firing postions.
Until Zolomon's giant Heat Saber is brutally thrown into the formation, the giant whirling blade slices on of the Guntanks in half, severs the Cockpit head and main guns of another before lodging itself into the torso block of the third.
It jerkily tries to raise it's gun-arm to fire at you, only for Bernards Zaku Kai to nimbly jump onto the blade lodged in it and off into the darkness, slicing cleanly through and severing the Guntank in half.
The blade spins about in the air, before a high moving Zolomon grabs it in mid dash.

After this, the Assault Guns organised retreat becomes a route, and your able to inflict punishing casualties on it well under your deadline. Which is good as...

"Sir! Incoming reinforcements! Mix of Tanks and Mobile suits, Eta 90 seconds!" calls Calvin over the comm.
A flash of ruby light lances past you, near to your position.
    "Possibly sooner!"

    Eh, I'll just pick one.

You order the Dowdages to use their superior ground speed, and their Beam Spray Weapons in flash mode to stun the opposition and keep them off balance whilst you make your way to the Village and set up ambushes.

You give Zol, Calvin and Hovis a spread of covering fire and then quickly make your way west.
Behind you you hear explosionions and unidentified noises.

"Watch out! Those Green GM's have improved upper armour."

".... watch out for the Rail Guns Calvin, they aren't beam rifles, but they'll still leave a mark!"

"...Keep moving, we'll encircle them once more and retreat!"

You manage to make it to the village unmolested. You order the rest of the team to take up ambush positions and to quickly check for enemy in the village. Whilst the rest take up positions, you check behind a village church.

You barely manage to leap aside before the crimson beam shot fills the air. You fire a burst through church at where the enemy was, but there's a flash of white and the Gundam evades.

"Sir! We've got Dom remains here! It looks like Black Tri-Sta..."
