One month has passed, bringing with it more progress on all fronts. Greenhouses have been built in both the town proper and the farming center, providing a place for year-round growing. Intense efforts from golems and men alike have built the farming center into a sizable installation, equaling the 'capital' town in fields. The first, fertilizer-enhanced harvest, is expected next month, and, as expansion outstrips population growth, you should have a massive surplus again by year's end. The Evermain line is complete and in operation, using the spare loco, which is being powered mainly by the magelock, to take the edge off the greater distance.
A hunting group operating near your Northern border brought down a stray, injured Envid, thankfully felling it before it could close the range. After they reported back with their radios, a party was sent to retrieve as much of the meat as possible. The haul will keep indefinitely in low temperatures, but no one will eat it unless it's absolutely necessary. Its exoskeletal plates and eye-covers are being used for projects. Bem's network is expanding rapidly, not just in Fain, but in Sollis and Evermain as well. DCE has operatives emplaced in his workforce, keeping an eye on things outside the borders.
The College of New Aarmour, focusing a great amount of resources on studying electricity, have developed more efficient generators than you currently employ, and they are willing to transfer that knowledge to you in return for specs on your (patented) locomotives. Additional personnel are available, but much of their faculty is now involved in their own R&D projects. Several engineers, two economists, and another counselor have been dispatched. The College is part of a growing network of institutions instructed by the government to build on and further develop 'modern' concepts, many of which originated with you. They are having quite a bit of success, but without your guidance, not as much as they could have. |
