I was never able to get into the Redeemer mostly because the authors seem to love to show off his plot armour as often as possible without giving any real reason why it works out the way it does.

I never said anything about stopping S&P'ing, nothing can stop the Redeemer with plot armour that thick, he got hit in the head with a power axe to no effect.
My point was, why would the redemption bother making Malkav a cyborg to record the Redeemers tale when he's an embarrassment to them? But with my previous point in mind it makes more sense being that the writers don't give a fuck about 40k lore except where it's useful to their glorified fan-wank.
