9 KB Doppleganger Damacy XVIII TempDM !!WBgKxxhAACV 06/16/10(Wed)19:06 No.10541389
The basic premise: You started out as a generic creature with no voice, no skills, feats, or special abilities whatsoever, and every stat at 10.
Whenever you eat a creature you acquire one of its traits. Permanently. For the purpose of this quest, that means I'll give you a short list to choose from.

It's been about a week since you woke up in the city, weak, with only the ability to devour the traits of others. You've eaten your way to a strong, combat-ready body, and left behind a string of disappearances in your wake.

It's around noon. "My lord, I have lit the candle of your message. Your devoted who are not essential for their cells to continue their work will travel here as quickly as they can manage. They will bring with them gold, equipment, arms and armour. Forgive me, but it will take two days for the earliest to arrive. Most of your devoted here cannot be interrupted, forgive me my lord, for they are following the orders you gave us so long ago and preparing a truly worthy ritual to assist your full arrival." Oh yeah, there's that cult lady, Karreesa. She's prepared to sell your axe and armor, or add it to one of the cult's caches, whichever you choose.

What is your plan of action?

2)Buy a few more bottles of strong liquor

4)Head to an isolated guard post and, disguise check, and bluff our way into drinking with a few city guards. Get them drunk, passed out, then NOM. Take weapon proficiencies and knowledge of local criminal element, NOT appearance.

Tell her she need not understand, only obey. For now.

Get some of the best, strongest liquor the cult has to offer, and some good food for Claire.

Brief Claire, tell her to keep the an eye out for the bodysnatcher who we need to speak with. Then, we hunt.

What time is it? If it's close to closing time of the library, my recommendation is library/bookworm stalking from the rooftops first, then sewers (gator bowhunting from the roof) , then river, then disguise/bluff our way into some drunk guards NOM, then wilderness NOM, river again depending on how bloody we are, then check to see if the Cult got any criminal element together otherwise go get some for ourselves.

Potion shop comes last, in the middle of the night, preferably after nomming some criminals.

    >Stop off at the potion shop and take a non-direct route to Claire's inn.
You head to the pharmacy that you were at before. Looking inside, thoughts come unbidden to your head.

Ah yes, the potion shop, here we are now. It'd be quite the haul if anyone cleaned them out. Now according to the guys who've cased the joint real thorough-like, that right there's a fire trap set towards keeping the goods away from our prying fingers. Expensive little piece of work, and it'll do a real number on a guy. There's a couple other alarms rigged there, and there see, but those won't kill you like a bunch of burning will. What's the plan, chief?

    >...Did we absorb the thief's mind to an extent he became a aspect of our psyche?
No. (My post should have said "without effort" instead of "unbidden," by the way.) Either the guy talked inside his own head a lot, or it's his memories of telling the gang leader he used to run with about robbing it. The gang broke up due to infighting.

    >Do we happen to know where the potion shop owner sleeps? We could wait until twilight and eat him for knowledge on disarming the big bad trap. I don't think his trap covers any windows in his room, if he has any up there.
Where he sleeps? Not a chance, chief. The owner's not the one running the till, he's the one supplying the goods. Word is the guy's a nut about his own well-being. Young Hardcheese put in a full week and tried finding the guy, no thank you.

If she finds out now, particularly since we can still manage a "wtf" manner rather than a "I lead my minions of evil to devour all!" manner, we might be able to get her to stick with us even knowing all about it.

Yeah, that? Don't count on getting those from HD. You've got a different list of special abilities from HD; you're speshul after all!

    >Oh, also, TempDM, when's the next thread, you think? If you have a date, I'll be here.
I am going to try HARD to have one tomorrow, because starting Saturday I'm visiting family for a month, for the first time in over a year and half. Not expecting a lot of large time blocks for running sessions during that time. I will do my damnest to get at least a thread a week during that month though (not sure dates/times for that, sorry). Afterward, should be business as normal, with a new time zone.

Not that this wouldn't be a decent place to call "end of Part 1" and start the next one as Part 2 with the new picture. We'll see. >>10543555 is getting used, so expect it!

I have a special note I wrote down about this in my tiny notebook where I jot down ideas, but I'm having the damnest time finding it. I'll try to remember to state it at the beginning of next thread. I believe it was: it needs a base, so +1d6 before you get +2d6--but eating two +1d6s don't give you +2d6. (Ha, even +1d6 is nuts with your three attacks, I'm surprised /tg/ passed it up twice in a row.)

Oh geez, 28 HP. Please, TempDM, let us make next thread all about the NOM. If you could present us with a list of NOMMING options perhaps it would help facilitate things...

A)Head for the Library around closing time, find a bookworm or three to NOM.

B)After taking a new appearance, and possibly clotes, head to an isolated guard post and, disguise check, and bluff our way into drinking with a few city guards. Get them drunk, passed out, then NOM.

C)Beeline for the sewers, gator huntin' from the ceiling with our bow, and most likely huntin' other things as they come.

D)Possibly hit up the river for some fishing, real fast, just to see if it works for us.

E)Boar/Bear huntin', see what else is out in the wilderness (move from treetop to treetop).

F)At the end of the night, ambush some drunks coming out of a bar, maybe.

G)Get more thief NOMS from the cult. Or maybe a hunter/survivalist if they can provide one.

Just some ideas, but I think a list of NOM ideas at the start of the thread might help facilitate and... keep the VOICES from distracting us.

My question is: are we evil?

There's some people who argued for it, some who argued against it.

If we're possibly fighting a paladin, this could be SERIOUSLY important.
