    >Go into the next alley over, climb up the building and sneak over to the one the voices are coming from.
    >Double back around stealthily and see who's there. BE FUCKING CAREFUL.
    >Don't climb buildings, but this. Sneak in the way they're not going to be looking.
    >1d20+13 Hide=14
You duck into a side alley and approach the pair from the other direction of the building, staying off the walls and rooftops in case someone glances over. You turn a corner, a lot closer than you intended to pop out. The young man, looking your way, spots you immediately and almost jumps when he does. The woman, turning and seeing you, prostrates herself on the ground; when the still-stunned young man doesn't follow suit, she grabs his shirt and jerks him down next to her with almost savage roughness. "My lord, your pathetic servants beg forgiveness in not finding you sooner."

    Action?

The obvious course of action is to go to a bar and talk it out over drinks in the darkest corner. No-one is likely to eavesdrop - because it's a world were the consequences are really dire.

You've gotta have respect for tradition. Plus it's public - they can't start a fight, if they do it's a barfight, which is just chaos all around.

If you are NOT servants, as you claim to be, then "gorging upon" anyone in public in front of others would certainly be unwise of the one who you are looking for, would it not?

We have been tricked before (exploding ransom note, etc) and would prefer not to have it happen any more. That is why we request clarification before any further contact.

Many of our number were discovered by authorities and the sanctioned churches of this area; your loyal servants those who were of weak faith or will were unable to spill your secrets. Yet this has caused some to lose heart and desert the cause; they of course have been silenced. Your appearance comes when we need you most."

"Our numbers are few, but your servants continue to work to weaken the barrier between the planes that keeps them separated so. But we can trust this cult less than we can trust Claire.

Claire knows nothing of us except what we told her.
    These cultists know us.

    They KNOW us.
They know what we are, what we do, why we do it.
    They know us.

And they need to die because of it.

Granted, it would be most unwise to try and kill them in a fashion fitting a berserker, so we should try to pick off their numbers one by one, discreetly (and discretely).

Some means of scheduling the doppleganger's day or keeping a timepiece might help.

A means of sticking to a plan would be useful.
For instance, our plan at the moment is:
    Drill cultist for info
Sell Dwarven Waraxe and Studded Leather
Sewerdive during the rest of the day to see what we can pick up
Derp around the Library near closing time, trying to find one of the bookworms that seems smart. Follow him and eat him.

One thing I think everyone would like to change is the process of buying stuff -- I find it to be too time consuming, and we get bogged down when no one really intends to. What the fuck, monotreeme. What the fuck.

I thought you were a good person, what with all the monstergirl threads.

As always, thanks for running TempDM.

and they stick in the mind better.

besides it's a valid illustration of what he was describing.
    I think...

You guys are awesome, and I hope you don't forget that without you we wouldn't be having a fun quest. A DM is nothing without good players.

    >>10419269
That's it exactly! But with people. And both halves.

I'll look into both of these. The problem with carryover is that it makes a giant wall of text that people don't want to read. Heck, I barely wanted to read this last one (although I've been trying to inject a bit more atmosphere into the descriptions, hence some of the length). I enjoy the shopkeeper and haggling process a bit too much, it seems. Shortening that up without losing the fun will be on my to-do list.

    >completely out of left field
This, among other things, made my night.

Next session? I'm hoping Saturday or Sunday, but weekends aren't easily planned right now. Absolute latest should be Tuesday.

Well, objectively speaking, she'd (they'd?) be better laying down on the bed, rather than have a cord wrapped around their neck. The cord is terribly unsightly and looks really crass.
Ideally, they could made the stiches tighter, and washed the blood away, but that would take hours, and the corpse would begin bloating by that time. Unless they did it in a freezer...

    >Yes, at times a bit more GM-fiat would be useful. A little bit.
I'll see about doing that for the sake of speed in some cases. I really despise railroading though, because with enough preparation and being able to roll with things a DM doesn't have to do that. And I don't want you guys to feel railroaded, because I'm more interested in seeing the story /tg/ tells than telling one of my own.

Thanks again to everyone who helped make this a fun session. If you missed a chance to tell me I suck and should change something, or want to talk shop about GMing, the email I posted gets checked every so often.

    Night, /tg/.

    TempDM, one more thing.

YOU ARE AWESOME, AND SHOULD FEEL AWESOME.

Seriously dude, I can't wait for the next thread! How much I would like to play a campaign of this with exclusive control of the doppleganger...
