To try alleviate his concerns. "You know we are not friends of the Cloud, and it was not by Akatsuki's request that you come; it was the Lady Mizukage who believed it important that you be there as well."

There is the question about warning him about mental attack. Perhaps suggesting including someone like Inoichi in his honor guard would be prudent, if we want to put him on guard. It is a tricky choice.

Minato nods his head, "I am aware of our mutual distaste of the Cloud." he admitted and you could see a flicker of hope in his eyes, "Perhaps the Mist's new Kage is unlike her forebearer. Yagura was a mean-spirited young man." Minato said as he rubbed his temples, stamping and signing several papers as he looks up at you, "Is there anything else you would care to bring forth, Shimaru?"

I think it would be a good move to tell him of possible dangers for fair trading- an Inochi and a Hyuuga would make for suitable bodyguards.

"I see. Thank you, Shimaru, I will be certain to plan accordingly." he says and nods his head, the door opening for you.

As you leave the office three ANBU agents appear and the leader says, "Our Jonin Commander requests a word with you and your partner." He says, "This is not mandatory, simply the request of one Jonin to another."

You are taken to a council room where only a single man is sitting on the other end of the table. The ANBU close the door and the man offers you a seat. You can see his long pointed goatee and spiked ponytail remind you of your earlier battle with Konoha in what felt like years ago. "I am Shikaku Nara. It is a pleasure to meet you, Shimaru. Though, I believe we've met before." he says with a smile as he lights a cigar and breathes it out in a slow thick cloud, "I wanted to talk to you about Kisame Hoshigaki. In fact, I wanted to talk to you about a lot of things about that team of yours and the mission you were on. What exactly were you doing there?"

Well, if we get him to confirm that he's referring to the weapons shipment mission, we could respond back with a question:
"What, then, was so critical about a weapons shipment that it would require the Konohagakure Jonin Commander, Copy-Cat Kakashi, Itachi Uchiha, and I assume 2 other high-ranking Jonin. And why would you retreat as soon as it look like we'd put up a fight?"

Ah, that would be a good point to start with actually. Hopefully he feels like being open. We do know that's what he is talking about, I think its the only other time we've seen him, and I see no reason to be coy. Also, knowing he is the commander, that would be the preferable form of address. So a revision.

"Commander Nara. Perhaps you could tell me what attracted six powerful Leaf ninja, including a famous three-man cell, an Uchiha with full-inheritance (if Itachi is notable at this point then just use his name), Copy Ninja Kakashi, and the Jounin Commander. Right after the Hidden Stone, no less. And why they would leave so suddenly."

I expect He'll still press us for what we know, so I still stick with my previous post. Even if he divulges information that casts more doubt upon the situation, I don't think we want encourage mistrust in the new Mizukage. (unless it looks like she's been compromised by foreign influence already, but even then, we may not want to entrust such matters to the Leaf)

About summons, I personally don't think Lions fit us thematically, and the un-contracted teleport might be cool, if the OP is up for it, but we would have to do it when we have quite a bit of free time (in character) because we have no idea where we would end up, and we would have to prove to the group they should contract us.

Embracing the Chinese carp/dragon legend could be a thing for Shimaru, appreciating hard work to become a dragon, and encouraging it in the village. Plus, Shimmering Shoal: summons a group of iridescent Koi who's concerted movement is a genjutsu that entrances or befuddles the enemy. Summoning various Chinese dragons would be awesome, but would the koi get to swim through the air...? Otherwise that's a bit of a problem.

    >I don't think we want encourage mistrust in the new Mizukage
Actually, all things considered, it's more likely that Yagura realized that he was schizophrenic and needed to step down, but simply retiring wouldn't be a drastic enough change, sociologically, for the Hidden Mist to make a fresh start, and so created a situation where he would be vulnerable to a coup.

Remember that he had asked Kaji to delve into his mind for days at a time to find out what was wrong with him, indicating that Yagura knew that something was wrong with himself. And that it was him that ordered the Deep Current members away, leaving himself vulnerable.
It's still possible that Mei planned it this way, but it's just as possible that Yagura committed suicide in as public a manner as possible so that the Mist could break completely away from his psychotic influence.

Now, if Nara wants our analysis of all of that, he's going to have to offer intel of equal worth first.

To be fair, one of the previous Kages used a goddamn oyster. As long as the summon has strong enough jutsus, it doesn't really matter how physically powerful they are. I mean, Tsunade has a snail.

Hell, the carp could just bring his own lake.

Anyway, joke aside there are a bunch of other cool animals that we could use.

"Mhm. 'There', where we first met? 'There', when I spoke with Kisame-Sempai? Tch. Bothersome, there are so many 'There's." Sigh. "Commander Nara, if you want to know my relation with Kisame Hoshigaki it is simple. He is my," Pause and let the ghost of a smile as we remember that Gen recently fought you and that you will be the best man at his wedding, "He is one of my dearest friends, my first true friend, and he was my teacher. If you worry regarding his truthfulness of this meeting," Pause and close our eyes. "I share your worry, but I know that the Sempai I knew would not lie. 'Why lie when our blades are as honest as a man can be.' But this 'God' of theirs - I assume you know of him, a man who can be anywhere, and is covered in piercings." Sigh. "I do not know."

I'm assuming the question was 'You went to see Kisame and then immediately came here. What's up with that?' and I agree with the Nara. Even if Kisame thinks he's telling the truth, he might not be - Pein might have some trick up his sleeve.

As I was reading your first sentence, I was like "Kaji told us he was aware of the problem;" I'm glad you brought it up again. Although I'm more worried due to the canon Madara connection, I have to think his problem wasn't natural.

And damn, I am getting all jazzed about being the Koisennin <carp sage> and Higashi no Tatsu <Dragon of the East> when OP would totally be justified with a NOPE.jpg --But since I am thinking about it so much, I imagine Seiryu would be the Celestial Lord of that entire ocean. We would not have a contract with him. We would probably never see him. He would have a vassal who is the lord of the local sea, and we would have a contract with him., letting us summon local weather dragons (water is a given for Chinese dragons, but the right ones might be wind or lightning typed. The earth and fire dragons would have a different lord, I expect) and carp. Carp would probably just be messengers and group summon-as-a-specific-jutsu (like shimmering shoal) performers. Though real carp can be a 100lbs so a killer ninja fish isn't that hard to imagine.

My other idea is raptors. They strike fast and hard like us, and I would expect them having wind and lightning natures which covers elements we don't. There could also be individuals who use eye, plumage, or voice based genjutsu, another skill I keep trying to fit to our summon somehow. (I also support some big cat, but more like a panther or jaguar)
    >> Anonymous 10/04/11(Tue)10:51 No.16517825
Now, three things from the last thread:
Awww, I thought Gen was gonna help us get a new sword - or at least re-seal this sword - or help us perfect flicker-blading. Oh well, overcoming all damage is badass - I'm just a little confused how that sleeve looks.

    >The question is what does Shimaru really think about Akatsuki's plan? Does a united shinobi force represent a stronger Mist or a weaker one?

I believe that Shimaru wouldn't like the Plan for two reasons. First, it makes Mist grovel at Akatsuki's table rather then equals with the other villages. Second, I think that Shimaru might not support Akatsuki's ideals. Too hypocritical.

    >Summon
If we can't summon aquatic creatures onto land (Which stops us from getting an Eel, which I think would be perfect) - and if BOSS SEA is out of the picture - I'd actual like to ask OP what he thinks Shimaru should get. After all, he knows Shimaru the best and could tell us what he'd like us to get, and what he thinks Shimaru would be most interested in.

Mhm. Although, we might be going at this all wrong. We're trying to identify a creature that connects with Shimaru based on the creatures traits, but I don't think that a summons always have to fit the contract holder. I mean, how are Toads like Jiraiya or Slugs like Tsunade.

Has anyone given any thought to Salamanders? It's the spirit of fire in the form of an amphibious lizard so our elemental affinities match up. They're usually aggressive predators when it comes to food, actively hunting down their food though without relying strictly on eyesight to do so. They've got some good regeneration mojo to pair up with us also 'regrowing' an arm, and the palm salamander has that ludicrous tounge for our sudden burst attacks.

Elementally, thematically, and style-wise they're a dead ringer for us.

Honestly our main weakness is our lack of Ninjutsu and Genjutsu capabilities, not to mention our frontline tactics leave us vulnerable to other heavy hitters and attacks we can't simply parry or evade. Salamanders would work as all sorts of battlefield shenanigans from natural poison they'd be able to spread through the mist, giving us raw water to work with when we need it similar to frog-summon water shots, tanking hits like a bawss, and all around synergizing with our own offense by absolutely smashing through everything with their tongue blitz. Along with that they'd aid our sensor skills and (possibly) give us a lot of technique support.

On top of that, they've got variety. From small natural-sprinters to massive walls of 'Oh god that's a giant lizard with pointy teeth.' Not to mention having more bodies is certainly not a bad thing.

Actually, if Pein has seized control of Amegakure then Hanzo should be dead, I mean, Pein has multiple bodies so that means Pein summoned that demon statue which probably means either Yahiko or Konan are dead.

Of course, as far as Yamada is concerned Salamander Hanzo is still around being fucking scary and is still the second most powerful shinobi in the world.

Going to Rain to grab the Salamander Contract should make even Yamada pause in concern.

But you have to admit being an honest ninja does hit all the right buttons for it to be amusing. Personally I've no idea what sort of summon we should aim for, I like the aquatic animals like a moray eel, carp or narwal but they are highly situational. One thing, would we even have enough chakra to summon a boss? Shimaru seems more of a low chakra killing makchine who just uses support jutsu with a smattering of range ninjitsu.

Being an honest man and using genjutsu are two completely separate things. Also, being an honest shinobi doesn't mean we never lie or use trickery.
Being honest, in the sense that Kisame and Shimaru use the term, means not compromising one's integrity or ideals for convenience. It also means to not betray one's comrades for personal ambition or gain.

You use a definition of 'honest' that is too simplistic.

Yeah, and that was why I was being so over the top with the badger shit, I do believe I have a point, we are not a ninjutsu/genjutsu type guy, we barely have chakra. So I figure we should improve on taijutsu and ninjutsu, genjutsu is our one glaring weakness, sure. But hey, we could kill the piss out of people before they have a chance to use it in the first place. A badger companion or something similar would be ideal for that. And well, water type creatures kinda ooze the whole genjutsu/ninjutsu thing. I apologize for coming off as a prick though, I meant for it to not be taken seriously. Hence the poking fun at gypsies, blacks and russians.

Although what that means for us is that the thought of fighting Hanzo should only make us want to run away screaming in terror, wheras the prospect of fighting Minato should make us collapse into the fetal position sobbing into the handle of our sword as we await the merciful hand of death.

Alright, general consensus seems to be "ask OP what he think about Shimaru." as far as summons go. To be honest the idea has sort of bothered me for a while. What sort of animal would both be complimentary and similar to Shimaru?

I am a fan of some sort of raptor, its never a deceptive attacker, it favors speed as well as raw strength, and it would compliment our elemental nature perfectly. Plus it gives us a longer-range summon. This is a very good option.

A giant turtle, not a tortoise like Guy has, would provide a few things that are very nice. It's a huge walking fortress, which has its ups and downs, but also, it can open its jaws and let water flood out onto the battlefield. This is also an idea.

I have more incoming, but I'm getting breakfast.

Naruto is a gateway anime of the worst kind. It's a bad series, a clusterfuck of story and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive shipping faggotry and DARKNESS. The normal anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the series itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.

However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. The superpowered characters all trying their hardest to look cool, the jutsus, peculiar, colorful clothes, the whole ninja faggotry and everything about the Naruto world fuels their escapist fantasies, while the pity-party character backgrounds, emphasis on revenge, and overall preachiness of the series make it fit just right with the mary-sueish drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underageb& retards eat this shit right the fuck up.

Naruto is basically THE series to attract the most hated anime fanbase known to /tg/, which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every anon to troll the fuck out of this show and everyone who likes it, and ensure that no Naruto threads ever encourage the newfriends to show their faces here.

This file clearly is for higher ups only, and the fact that it's being disclosed to you means they need your support. Additionally, the reports are all dated on the same night several years ago. It appears Minato had Hiruzen and Jiraiya brought to ANBU to discuss everything and do a full disclosure on the night of Orochimaru's escape.

Personally, I think we should give him everything we know about Akatsuki movements and methodology. Orochimaru and Sasori in the Sand, the Five Chakra'd ninja (Kakuzu) and Deidara (perhaps leave out the details of his secret techniques, since it's not our secret to give and the stone and leaf aren't currently friendly, I don't think), and that they are currently doing mercenary work to raise funds. MAYBE even that we believe they wish to monopolize Shinobi power and abolish the national hidden village system.

So I'm wondering what we can do while we wait. We should check on what Gendo is doing and check up on him. See if he wants to do anything.

You know, with Jiraiya here - and we know how much Jiraiya hates Orochimaru - maybe we could go and hit up one of the secret bases, if Gendo doesn't want to do anything.

I still think that a tiger is a better option than a salamander. I think that it has more utility outside of combat, for tracking and infiltration, which we're weak on.

I vote Salamander; simply because you can get different types of summons from it by changing the salamander. Like You could summon something like that huge one from japan that's huge and all tank like and ROLLOUT, and then a blind one that could be useful for tracking because chakra or whatever.

A tiger is cool, but lacks that.

We'll just take the safe answer.

You and your teammate spend the next two days just lounging around, however you are occasionally called to talk to Minato about various security and other-type details.

On the evening of day 5 he calls you and speaks, "These are the final terms we will offer. I am to bring Inoichi Yamanaka, Fugaku Uchiha, and Asuma Sarutobi as my personal escort. I will give you a full disclosure of all items possessed by all members of my escort. We will depart on the sunrise of tomorrow morning and will arrive by afternoon in Kirigakure, ready for the meeting. As collateral, you will be forced to leave both Gendo and your blade here under ANBU's watch, as well as accompany us to your village and remain in our presence at all times." He said before leaning back and sighing, "I'm sorry, but this is the first time a Kage has entered another village for anything less than a Chunin Exam in decades."

"Very well then. We'll be leaving in six hours." he says and shakes your hand with a smile before he lets you leave, presumably to get ready.

In six hours on the dot you are standing with all your gear given back to you except for your sword, and he is with a small platoon of ANBU and his appointed escorts. The ANBU give you the paperwork that includes their itemized possessions and the agents show your sword being sealed into a scroll and then being locked and locked with your chakra so only you can open it as they put it away for safe keeping. The Fourth is dressed in his full battle attire with his flowing cloak and flak jacket under his cloak as he nods, "Alright, let's get moving."

Just short of the appointed time you return to the village, introductions are made and you go with Minato to the Mizukage who greets him pleasantly and with about thirty Mist ANBU agents you head towards Zettibara Village.

When all of you arrive Kisame is sitting in the teahouse at a table with a blond woman sitting beside him. The woman has her hands together and is scanning as well as looking at Kisame. He welcomes you in, "Come come, welcome." He says and bows his head, "Lord Hokage, Lady Mizukage, it is an honor to see you." He said and they greet him with politeness as he indicates the woman, "This is Hana Fuzen, she will be transmitting our words to the leader and I will be speaking for him." He says and draws Samehada, causing Inoichi and Fugaku to tense up as he winks and lays it down on the table, "Just to remove all feelings of doubt. You are outnumbering us severely and here is my blade, kohai." He says and gives you Samehada, "Keep it safe for me while we talk." The handle of the blade seems to writhe and squirm in your hand, accepting your touch at his master's behest.

Although it's mostly a symbolic thing, they'll have an idea of how precious our sword is to us, it also removes the thing we're most well known for being an absolute badass in.
I mean, we've already killed a Kage with our swordwork and have made short work of several powerful ninja with our sword as well.

I think it's actually a bit of a compliment that even so outnumbered by Jounin and the Hokage himself they think we're so dangerous that we shouldn't have a greatsword on us, just in case.
