    403 KB Cat Rogue Update CAT !!fzMkxxrtKt+ 06/11/11(Sat)20:27 No.15234592
Had another session today, thought I'd update /tg/ as to the progress of their cat-rogue.

    Important stuff:

    STR 16
    DEX 18
    CON 14
    INT 11
    WIS 11
    CHA 9

    Race: Housecat

So, first thing's first. The party sold all the human-sized gear that I no longer needed, and we spent a good deal on cat-oriented gear, most of which would take three in-game days to get made. In the meantime, I was sent out to scout the Weretiger's cave, since I would be unsuspected.

I made my way through the forest (read: leapt through the trees with a ridiculous amount of easy jump rolls) for about 3 hours, and came upon the entrance to an extensive cave system. It used to be a mine, and some of the older villagers were able to inform us as to the general layout of the place.

I slink inside, making a successful Hide check. Just as I enter the shadows, two lesser weretigers (not the ancient one we want to kill) stride into view from the forest, and enter the cave; they've got the mangled body of what appears to be a dwarf in their paws. I elect to follow them, and after several Move Silently checks, I'm able to follow them into the bottom chamber of the complex.

There's dozens of these jerkoffs just lazing around, eating innocents and stripping valuables from the bodies. The ancient one isn't in here, though.

I tell the DM that I want to leave this room, and I managed to fail both a Move Silently and Hide check. Suddenly, every pair (and a half-pair) of eyes in the room is staring at me. One of the weretigers lunges at me, and fails a grapple check to nab me. I start going "OH GODS OH GODS OH GODS", and suddenly, he stops.

"Oh, sorry about that. I didn't realize you were a new guy."

So they thought I was one of them. Which was cool, actually, because I was able to explore their complex freely. After a bit of conversation, I was able to get that

    1. there were about 30 total weretigers

    2. they planned on creating an army, starting with the village; they wanted to take over the continent

    3. the next attack was in 3 days

So after a while, I left, and made my way back to the town without incident... at which point I found out that the rest of my party was involved in a battle between the villagers and a scouting group of bandits. It was pretty much over, so I didn't get to do any sweet-ass backstabbing, but that's fine. As it turns out, this group was a scouting party for a larger bandit group that was going to invade the town in exactly 3 days.

...This could actually be in your favor, depending on who gets to the village first. If the two forces could be turned against one another (perhaps by convincing the Weretigers that the "bandits" are in fact mercenaries hired by the village), you could let them wear each other down before leading an assault on their flanks. If things get rough, make tactical retreats past hidden traps placed in the town proper and in alleyways, killing off or otherwise weakening any pursuers.

The good news is, you'll have all your badass kitty gear made by then and can kick some proper ass.

So I inform the party of what's going on, and we're at odds as to what we want to do. The Paladin, mage and cleric all want to go and wipe out the weretigers now, so we don't need to deal with them when the bandits come, while me and the monk are arguing that it would be best to leave both groups alone; this could work to our advantage.

After much arguing (a whole day of it, in fact), we decide that we're going to ramp up the town's defenses, and send me back to lure the weretigers into a trap.

Oh, and at this point, I was able to get some of my gear from the local smith and mage guild. I now had a ring of Lockpicking (+10 to LP) on my tail, and an amulet of Mage Hand waiting for me when the rest of my things were done.

I made my way back to the weretiger lair, and was actually able to find the ancient one this time. He was somewhat surprised to see a werecat (actually, still just a cat), but listened to me nonetheless. I informed him that the villagers were tired of his shit, and had called in an army of reinforcements that would arrive at about the same time he decided to invade.

Now, this was both good and bad, in his eyes. It was good, because these were more potential weretigers for him. It was bad because it would be all the more difficult to actually pass his lycanthropy on to others with so many enemies in one area.

After he dismissed me, I dashed back to town and let the others know what I had done. The defenses for the town (ramparts, normandy-style stakes everywhere, pit traps) were also coming along fairly quickly. The next day, the rest of my equipment was ready.

I was now decked out in:

+2 cat-mail shirt of Freedom of Movement
    Ring of Lockpicking +10
Amulet of Mage Hand (to do things that needed thumbs)
Light Repeating Crossbow of Sonic +1

The finishing touches were made to the defenses, everyone rested up, and many ate their last meals. This was going to get real ugly, real fast. I hopped over the wall in my cat-gear, and hid in a tree.

    The DM played this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiK3K5StDDk

The bandits came into view first. There were about 250 of them in all, intent on murderizing this town of 100 and plundering what they could. The bandit leader, a fire giant wielding a HUGE FUCKING TRIDENT steps forth, and demands that we lay down our arms and surrender; that way, instead of ALL of us being killed, he'd just kill the men, enslave the women, and take the children to be trained as bandits themselves.

Yeah, fuck his shit. A single arrow (fired by our paladin) flew out of the town, and connected with his arm. With a roar, he and his army charged, shouting about how all of us are going to be hung by our internal organs. At the same time, the weretigers begin to arrive, and start tearing into the bandits. All the villagers are firing arrows into this mess like mad, hoping to kill off whatever they can.

I'm sitting there in my tree, launching sonic bolts at whatever strikes my fancy, and the Ancient Weretiger lands directly next to me as I pop a bandit's cranium with said bolts. He bounds off to start fighting the Fire Giant. Shit's getting real.

The villagers decide that things are getting a bit too close for archery, and get out an assortment of melee weaponry; some swords, a few maces, but mostly farm tools. The party and them charge out, and start hacking in the general direction of anything that gets in their way.

In the middle of all this, the monk, ancient weretiger, and fire giant are having a royal shitfest, beating the living shit out of each other. The giant is the first one to really start hurting; the monk eventually plants his fist STRAIGHT THROUGH his skull with a leaping punch, and rips out a good chunk of brain matter.

Then, he's incapacitated by the Ancient Weretiger (-2 HP). The paladin runs up, and does a sizeable chunk of damage, but ancient lycanthropes regenerate at an ungodly rate. After leaving a small dent, she, too, is incapped. The Cleric is able to bloody him up real good, but is actually killed as the ancient lands a solid crit on him, slashing his throat clean open.

Now, after all this, the weretiger can't have more than 10 or so HP; regeneration can only get you so far. I sneak up behind him (only because of the incredible stealth my cat-form gives me), and call a shot directly for his head. It's a hit.

His cranium detonates outwards as my bolt passes into it, and he drops to the ground. Our mage had some healer's kits, and was able to save the paladin and monk after a few heal rolls.

The weretigers dispersed as their leader died, and the bandits were too few in number at this point to actually ransack the town. The local church was able to revive our cleric, and we got a nice cash reward.

Oh, and the fire giant? Yeah, he was actually the son of a rather important fire giant general in the southlands. Which we were in.

As we left the town the next day, we were attacked by a group of bounty hunters- two mages, a rogue and a fighter- who we managed to kill off. On one of the bodies, we found a letter.

Under that, it had a rather accurate portrayal of the party... except me. It still had me pictured as a human.

OP, listen closely, for this shall come to pass, eventually: You must build another, smaller, human-sized golem. It must be made to look like your old body. It shall sit in a cockpit, that contains a bunch of bars and switches that really don't do too terribly much. Make it basically a gunner's bay.

Why would you do this? The golemn is specced for ranged attacks. when you're piloting and fightin', the golem is making ranged attacks, front and back in his swivel chair, using ranged-attack devices--wands of scorch/frost ray, etc. He'll be your cannoneer. You'll take care of fist-fighting and arm-mounted weaponry. Full coverage? You bet your ass you have it.

Here's the kicker: IF, I mean IF your Zoid gets taken down, they'll be looking for a man-sized cockpit. They'll open it up and your golem will jump out to start kicking ass. Meanwhile, you hit a button, and your mech splits. Out pops an ogre-sized mech that you pilot. In the event your troll-golem and ogre golem gets offed, you hit your escape pod and blast off, right after your decoy-self-golem self-destructs and causes a distraction. Fill him with random bandit guts to complete the illusion.

You'll be defeated. Your enemies will never, ever, understood what happened: they'll have been beaten up by a group of combining robots. You'll have successfully brought the Megazord into your GM's game and he won't even realize what you've done until the campaign is over and you've told him, because it's that fucking genius.

He makes you into a house-cat, you make your house-cat into a Power Ranger.

If we can get somebody with enough skill to actually make this, and if we ever have the gold to pay for it, I'll do it.

Yes, they've got all the gold and non-cat things. I'm considering having a bag of holding jury-rigged to my armor. I could shoe stuff in there with my amulet of mage hand.
