Bioware makes a game similiar to Mass Effect 2. You play as a Radical Inquisitor Lord who must travel across the galaxy and assemble an elite retinue and prevent a catastrophy set in motion by the Necrons who have activated a new World Engine. What warriors (of any species) do you assemble to prevent this new threat?

    >Radical Inquisitor.

Option for Puritanism, please. It'd be fun to be able to swing between puritan and radical, pragmatic and fanatic and so on.

It should also be possible to execute any of your minions at any time without explanation.

As for characters, how about an old guard veteran who worked by your side as an acolyte and was gifted to you by your former master when you earned your rosette? Affable, scarred up as all fuck and trusts your judgement in *most* things. May turn on you if you go super-mega-radical.

So its exactly like Mass Effect, only using GW's 80s retro space fantasy setting instead of Bioware's own 80s retro science fiction setting?

Oh look its the same fucking plot for every bioware game ever.

-You must travel around the world/galaxy map recruiting allies and companions to fight the ancient evil

-While doing so you defeat the servants/lietenants/etc of the ancient evil and gather the clues as to the ancient's evil plan/location/plot device

-You arrive at the final battle to stop the ancient evil and everyone cheers you on, for some reason the other nations of the world/races of the galaxy are useless and it is up to you to save the day

-You defeat the ancient evil and may have to sacrifice yourself/someone else to defeat it

Fucked up scope. An active world engine is something for the navy to handle. Inquisitorial presence would sum up to an inquisitor being all 'yup, that's heretical, gotta kill it.' Inquisitors combat the inside threats. Invasion fleets are for the navy, guard, and astartes.

As you're a Lord, you're experienced and very important, so you'd be interested in something big. Let's say, a shrine world corruption, or a tech heresy cult in one of the asteroid belt mines.

I HAVE FANTASIZED (non-sexually) ABOUT THIS GAME

I think that, were it made, the inquisitor ones plays as should get:
-Deathwatch member who travels with the inquisitor after his squad is destroyed (During the first mission in which the inquisitor finds the terrifying alien/nemesis which he barely escapes) (Melee Tank)
-The Debonair rogue trader whose ship he requires for his task, and who will lead him towards radicalism should the inquisitor follow his advice. (Thief/striker/short to mid range damage)
-Eldar Warlock found as his craftworld is being destroyed by said alien menace (Caster, spec for damage or support)
    - Tau crisis suit operator (heavy weapons)
    - Ork Freebooter
    - Daemonhost (radical only)
    - Sororitas (Puritan only)
    - And a comissar too for good measure

/tg/ should flesh out a story for this wonderful game. This could be a truly awesome RPG if GW gets it's head out of its ass

They don't need to be party members to be catered to. Taking a cooperative approach with the Eldar is better than recruiting one and ending up with a slew of different big-name species aboard. It works in Mass Effect but not in 40k where aliens are inherently different, dangerous and xenophobia runs rampant through the Imperium.

It is a Bioware RPG though, so in all likelihood human = boring. Which is a shame, since you can get a stupid-huge array of characters from a place as diverse as the Imperium.

The Tau could work. Ethereals sending out a Tau to gather more info on the Imperium, an adventure with an Inquisitor would definitely interest them. It could also be for diplomacy reasons, the Tau party member could be a water caste member instead.

There should be a daemonhost. If you bring it along it should tempt you constantly. It will give you power beyond anything else in the game if you give in to it.

It should then fuck you, literally at metaphorically, during the finale of the game and give you a BAD END if you take it up on its offers.

Could one small section of the Imperium attempt to be on good terms with the Tau?

Say one in the middle of nowhere, the Tau showed up when they were expanding. The government there decided they didn't have the resources to outright destroy the Tau and the Tau didn't want to spend the resources to destroy this settlement. Overtime they grew okay with each other and started trading with each other.

Then the Necrons pop up en mass...

Yeah... you need to read more fluff before saying stuff like this. Daemon Prince is not the same as a Daemon or a Daemonhost. While they have True Names that could possibly weaken them, I don't think they could actually be bound to anyone, except their own Chaos patron. And I'm pretty sure that that particular Dark Eldar would have to be insane, even by DE standards, to follow a Daemon Prince of Slaanesh.

Running around with a daemon prince has a 100% chance of getting you declared Excomunicatae Traitoris. It's not even remotely close to Radicalism. Using a daemonhost and getting found out more or less guarantees you're going to be hunted by your peers.

Oh, and any daemon prince kowtowing to an Inquisitor is going to be manipulating the shit out of them.

Okay, as this is a BioWare game here is how it will go:

The opening happens. You are a rogue trader and you get to walk around your ship. SUDDENLY A DISTRESS CALL FROM THE ASUS COLONY! Because you're a good guy you opt to try and help humanity.

You go to the Asus colony. It's being over ran by Necrons. You kill some low-ranking necrons and save some people. The Imperium contacts you and offers you a job to figure out where the fuck they are coming from. You get three leads: the space hulk Orion which was recently attacked, a Tau world the Imperium calls Neesa, and an unknown contact who will meet you at a designated spot in space.
    >> Anonymous 01/21/11(Fri)11:30 No.13604172
    >>13604164
@ Orion: You wander around for a bit and sure enough, it was attacked by Necrons!! But, the Tyranids have shown up and are consuming it. You have to get the ship's black box downloaded and high tail it out of there. There is still one marine alive: A scout who has managed to survive for the past five months named Julian. Through one way or another, he ends up going with you. This part plays almost exclusively like a standard shooter: one small catch, though, with the longer you remain on the ship more and more Tyranids show up. Eventually you will be overwhelmed.

@Neesa: Because you already have contacts there, you are able to openly land there, after paying the docking fees of course. A Tau engineer offers to do extensive maintenance on your vessel while you are going about your business on the planet.
While you're on the planet, you need to first track down someone who knows what the fuck is going on. One of your team mates, Kees, goes off on her own. You then play as her going through the town, gathering information. She finds a xenophile and can then coerce the information out of him, either via her feminine charms or her rough attitude - both of which the Tau xenophile oddly likes. Regardless of what she does, she finds out nothing useful; the Tau was leading her in circles.
Back to the Captain, s/he meets with the Tau leadership and he explains that he's tracking down the source of the Necrons: Turns out he has evidence of this being an Eldar plot: They activated a group of Necrons and sent them in a direction. Their reason or location remains unknown.

@Space: The Captain meets with an old, old friend of his: Warboss Gorgutz 'Ead 'Unter. Sometime before being defeated by the SPEEHZ MARINES, the two of them were good friends. It's never explained or explored why and fans suspect that he was only put into the game as a shout out or because the writers couldn't think of anything better.
    etc. etc.

I know that. Why are you telling me that? I mean, it would be pure suicide even getting close to a Daemon Prince as in several books that have them appearing as characters, not just extras, pretty much tell that everyone around them is immediately physically sick, even their own allies who should be used to this sort of thing around them. And I really can't see a possible way of seeing any Daemon Prince, no matter who's their patron, siding with an Inquisitor just for combating a mutual threat. It would be fun though if somehow you did have some sort of Warp entity as your temporary ally, and always before translating to the Warp, he advises you to drop the Gellar field around the ship. Cue Event Horizon.

With regards to a Deamonhost as a party member I think there would be three endings to how that turned out. One where you manage to pry just enough info out of him to get an edge on the enemy, but you lose something important to you (but not your soul) as the cost. The second would be where you make a deal and get a BIG edge on your enemies but at a great personal cost which may or may not include your soul (you have no way to tell). The third would end up with you either him breaking free and devouring your soul, or you giving in to chaos resulting in a game over

    Ok I'll give a try.. hopefully I don't suck.

First recruit : Guardsman Sergent. Quite an old guy, blind in 1 eye, and the other enhanced by cybernetics optical implants.
Been through so many wars, seen so many die.
Decided to join you because he think his lived for too long, and hope to finally join his friends. Quite a depressing character.

Relationship: You try to cheer him up, show him that the universe still have much for him to look out for.
Special quest: He asks you to bring him if possible to some planet which his son and grandchildren where, he just wanted to say "Hi" to them again

Second recurit: A junior Techpriest, Not much modification done to his body. Wants to join you because he thinks its his only chance for
promotion if he can get some Nercon artifacts back. Always want to be the first to handle any so call artifacts. Over zealous guy.

Relationship: You make him see the importance of this mission. Its not about him only, that he needs to be a teamplayer.
Special quest: You need to somehow, "give" a Nercon artifact you found to him. The artifact is in "some other" party's hands.

The spaceship carries a shipment of glatiator slave for death fights. The slaves manage to break out and a fight to the bitter end. Only the sister
Repenta and Ork Komando are the last 2 standing. None know how to pilot the ship. Sister Repenta joins you because she finds you are doing it for a
good cause. Ork Komando joins you because HE WANTS your DAKKAS!!!

Relationship: You become the Ork Kommando's new War Boss, give him what he wants if possible, and in general, treats him like a bro <-- try
Relationship: For the Sister Repenta, cheer her up, like the Guardsmen Sergent. Sister Repenta becomes so sort of a foster daughter to the Guardman.
Special quest: Find Dark Eldar arena and destroy it. You probably need to fight loads of Dark Eldars and their slaves.

Fifth recurit: You are on this hiveworld that the gorvener is having trouble with the local gang lords. You are asked to help him get rid of the local
gangs. While doing so, you found a smuggled crate, inside splept a Venerable Dreadnought, from some long forgotten chapter. Dreadnought itself slept
    for too long, lost memories

Relationship: Techpriest is the only one that have at least some knowledge of maintaining a Dreadnought, becomes "buddies" with the Dreadnought.
Dreadnought is confused why you have "xenos" working for you. Need to convience it, that its "ok"

Special quest: Explore a long forgotten Space Hulk, for clues of the forgotten Chapter and how the Dreadnought ended up

Sixth recurit: Eldar Banshee. You found her while doing a side quest, trying to root out a local cultist group. The said Banshee want to find the
cult too. Know she can't just just walk around in a human settlement, decides to join you. Does not tell you why. During the cultist hunt you found
out that the cultists actually have with them a Eldar toddler, and want to scarifice her to Slaanesh. Thats when you know whats the banshee is after

Relationship: The banshee reluctantly follows you, since herself and her daughter have no place else to turn to. In general, the Sister Repenta grew
a sort of attractment to the Eldar toddler. And the banshee trust most of the crew, not the Techpriest and Ork, near her child.

Special quest: During a re-supply at a space station. Banshee asks you to baby sit her daughter, because she need to find a Eldar merchant
whom she knew, but does not know he is still around. The problem is, you also want to go out and have some fun yourself.
Convince the Dreadnought to baby sit the toddler for you. And make sure her mom does not find out.

You can only recruit her if you manage to convince the Dreadnought to babysit the Banshee's daughter.

Relationship: She is pissed off with you, and so is the Banshee and the Sister Repenta. You need to convince the both of them that its not your fault.

People, an Aspect Warrior cannot just get up and leave their Craftworld and Shrine just to follow a human who is preaching the end of the galaxy. The only response a Inquisitor would get would be something like "The Craftworld will find it's own way to deal with it, human." The Path and the Craftworld is much more important than any human. The only exception to this rule is an Eldar ranger, who lives for this kind of stuff.

The crew should all be human and if any xenos sign on the Inquisitor should be far radical. His human crew should also have a major problem with it... especially for you guys listing an Astartes on your crew and then you have like 5 aliens listed right after.

Some traveling companions for a rogue trader or a really really radical inquisitor:

A nameless Eldar Farseer who is using you to prevent the destruction of her craftworld by [ANCIENT EVIL]. Depending on your choices, she may help you destroy the [ANCIENT EVIL] or simply sell you out to save her own people (TREACHEROUS XENOS!) if you give her the opportunity. You can hunt down and destroy her craftworld if you shell out ten bucks for the DLC.

Lemong Ullyman, an Ork Komando disguised (poorly) as a Death Watch Astarte of the Spacemarine chapter. If you humor him he'll follow your orders and eventually forget his original mission. If you question his credentials he'll hit you over the head and flee into the bowels of your ship, reappearing throughout the game in increasingly ridiculous disguises.

Penny the loli psyker, rescued from cultists and brought aboard the ship before you realize what she is, takes over one of the mess halls and refuses to leave. As long as you're polite and keep providing her with servitors for her tea parties, the walls won't grow faces and start screaming at you.

Maude, the puritanical Missionary and former Sororitas provides the crew with spiritual guidance (Purge the Unclean), medical knowledge (Kill the Mutant), and fresh baked cookies (Burn the Heretic). After spending the better part of a century delivering the Emperor's wrath to those who deserved it most, Maude is nearly blind and has a body that a tech priest would envy. Originally a member of the Orders Militant, successive injuries forced her to take on less strenuous duties in the Orders Hospitaller, Dialogous, and Famulous before following the Emperor's call to become a wandering missionary. That call has led her aboard your ship, and apparently her, er, rich lifetime of memories holds some clue to defeating the [ANCIENT EVIL]. In order to find the truth, you'll have to sift through her awe inspiring collection of scrapbooks and listen to a lot of very very long stories about how she used to set people on fire back in the good old days.

Once Maude is unlocked, you can assign her to babysit Penny and reclaim the lost decks. Some combination of her unshakable faith and skull full of metal makes her not only immune to warp phenomena, but seemingly oblivious to it as well.

Dean is a novice tech priest, freshly anointed, 100% organic and miserably mediocre. Desperate to prove his worth to his peers, he will gladly take anything shiny that you give him and weld it to his body---The results can be impressive and/or horrifying. It's probably best not to let him play with anything necron-ish. Despite the historically strained relationship between the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Ecclesiarchy, Dean is strangely deferential to Maude, most likely due to the fact that she is approximately 80% bionic.

The Immuteable Glormshyx wasn't a very impressive daemon before being summoned, trapped and bound by a radical Inquisitor, and after spending several thousand years sealed in a chainsword he's mostly given up on bartering for souls or winning his freedom. These days he's happy not to get locked in a dark closet, and he'll readily trade forbidden knowledge for TV privileges. Although captivity may have dulled his ambitions, it hasn't dulled his cunning intellect, and none are safe from his cruel, sarcastic wit. Once he almost made a planetary governor's mistress cry with a carefully worded observation about her weight. It was totally worth spending a week in the closet. Glormshyx spends a lot of time with Maude who uses his vessel as a walking stick and due to her poor eyesight she isn't terribly bothered by the disembodied voice. The daemon tolerates this arrangement because it gets him out of the closet, and no matter how rude he acts to the rest of the crew none of them are going to tell the seven foot tall cyber-Sororitas that they keep a daemon on board.

Mu is a slightly used Eversor, not much for conversation since he spends most of his time locked in a crate. He only has a limited supply of DRUGS so you can only take him out for a few hours before he runs out of BEAUTIFUL SPARKLY DRUGS and explodes. Save him for really tough situations or do the side quests to acquire more WONDERFUL WONDERFUL DRUGS from scenic locales such as bombed out Inquisitional strongholds, slaaneshi nightclubs, or Adeptus Mechanicus Biologis testing facilities.
