You are Maple Son-Mahogany, husband of one and mother of two.
Your husband is missing, and your children have been tortured, physically and psychically.

>WARNING: This is an unofficial, unacknowledged, downright despised spinoff of Dragon Ball Tuffle Quest. Familiarity with Tuffle Quest recommended but not required, however this spinoff will also feature topics such as bullying, abuse, self-harm, drug use, grief, suicidal ideation, grooming, violence, and rape.

https://youtu.be/1mkBL39qxm8

From what you've gathered from your daughter through some psychic probing of your own, you have a list of things to look into.

>VIDEL SATAN and ERASA PARU
That incident where Peppa had volleyballs and then a medicine ball flung at her head is funky. Videl Satan learned to control her ki from the very best from a young age, and it's conceivable she could have wanted to take Peppa down a peg for acting out on Valentine's and used some tricks to humiliate her during a game of volleyball. Peppa also saw Erasa laughing at her after she was hit in the head with a medicine ball. You're up for some rounds of hardball to see if they can explain themselves.
>>
>IZUMI MAHOGANY
Peppa's talk with your niece revealed the cause behind her episode on Valentine's Day, where she had bled from self-inflicted wounds and suffered anxiety attacks. Some twisted studying method taken on from some tutor her parents had hired. Drugged candy was involved. You need to talk with her parents.
>>
>ORANGE STAR HIGH SCHOOL
The school you had entrusted your kids to has been the site of your daughter's bullying and your son's maiming. There has to be some answers there, and you will get them, even if they're hidden, whispered as rumors, or wrung from the faculty with your own hands.
>>
>CHUU LEE
Your daughter's teacher had a talk with Peppa, and from the way the talk went, things seemed to be looking up. Peppa was set to hash things out with Videl and Gohan, for better or worse! …and from viewing your daughter's memories and her current mood towards them both, it got worse. Maybe her teacher (your star pupil) can give you a a better perspective on this?
>>
>GOHAN'S… GIRLFRIENDS?
Arabiota and Krysmus… Who the heck are these girls and why do they look similar? Like, those faces. Peppa said they look nothing alike since they have different hair and eye colors, but you and your twin brother, even your twin kids, have different hair and eye colors, but similar faces. Still, they have wildly different dialects. Perhaps they're distant cousins? Real distant, like different corners of the Earth distant and coincidentally gathered in Orange City? Heck, you live in a weird world, can you really rule out some sorta clone conspiracy? You're so in the weeds on the two of them, and you, you… you just recalled that there are four girls who've gathered around your boy. Mrrrrhhhghh... guh, bigger data pool to test the clone hypothesis with.

Which of these to tackle first?
>A. Videl and Erasa
>B. Your niece, Izzy
>C. The high school
>D. Peppa's teacher
>E. Those sussy hussies
>F. Write-in?

I'm still surprised that's a thing and I don't understand why. Is it because of the harder themes here ?

our daughter's friends first.
Also welcome back, OP.

I'm sorry, I can't do this right now. I'm having trouble focusing on this, and though I said I would continue this month, I don't have plans springing to mind or passion to throw at this like I did the last thread. Thanks for showing up, it really does inspire me to continue later, just really tapped out at the moment.

If I get the drive to perform over the weekend, I'll hit this up, so keep your bananas peeled.

Hello

I think trying to split this up between /qst/ and fiction live was a big mistake, instead of getting two sources of votes like I thought I would I'm just putting one side on hold to wait for the other.

I think I'll refrain from running this on fiction live and focus on doing things here.
>>
>>6130730
wait, so you updated there and forgot to post here ? then yes, one will end up on hold.
>>
OP where are you

It's that I wait for people to vote on fiction live and here on /qst/, and it slows things down.

I have to admit a few things. I have definitely failed as a QM, as I cannot bring myself to update this quest from lack of motivation and time. Back when I said I would wait a month and restart in October, I had been expecting I would have more free time than I ended up with. Still, I do have weekends, but I use those to rest and catch up on media mostly.

I'm also going through some difficult things, my position at work is looking spotty at the moment, I was in a car crash and have to find a lawyer to dispute my case, and my dog was attacked by a bigger dog and had to be put down yesterday.

And with the thunderstorms going on here lately, I've been opting to keep indoors lest I get struck by lightning.

Sooooooo, not quite in the headspace to run a quest, but as far as the story goes, I think there's some stuff I could write down which this headspace would complement?

Would you like to read it even if it's not interactive like a quest? Like, required reading before the interactive stuff that would be in a new thread.
>>
>>6143929
sure, I'll take it. Also hope you get better OP, can't make you choose us over your own life happenings.

After spending much time in consideration, Maple finally decides on who to see first! …though really it was obvious from the get-go and all corners of her mind had agreed upon it unanimously, but that was in October when the only horrors were fantasies- oh wait, it’s March of Age 776 still.

Anyhoo, she taps her head.

Orange Star High School, Orange City

In a training room for boxing or whatever, a teenager- wait no… a highschool girl of 20 years does punch-kick-block combos on a sandbag. And she does it while her phone has this blaring: https://youtu.be/ucWYQaErACY

Now, Videl Satan could easily smash the sandbag just over a hundred kilometers away if she hit it with one of her special moves like the Sublimely Magnificent Dynamite Punch Mark II, but that wasn’t the point of this training. No, today was fundamentals, making sure she was in-tune with her motions so that when she had to elbow someone at Mach speeds she wouldn’t break her arm off. After all, Gohan was taken out before he could put up a fight, it wouldn’t do for her to be caught off guard.

Something taps her on the shoulder, “Videl.”

At Mach speeds, the girl whips around with a roundhouse kick, stopping just short of Maple Son-Mahogany’s head. The air pressure from the aborted attack still blows the lady’s hat away. “Maple!?” Videl backs up from her, and bumps into the sandbag… which then splits open from where her kick had cut it and unloads all its sand on the ground. “What are you, what do you want?”

“I need to ask you a few things,” Maple explains, face as serious as the grave.

Bemused, Videl swallows a bit as she recalls that Maple is usually a ray of sunshine with a dumb joke in hand when she’s not busy being a mom figure to all. “Okay?” she says, guard lowered but fists still clenched. “I’m sorry about Gohan, I swear I’ll find who did it, and-”

Maple waves a hand, and says, “Thanks, but this isn’t about Gohan.” Also, when she waved her hand, her hat swooped up from the ground and onto her head. Then, she makes a fist, and the sand on the ground gathers and forms into the shape of a chair for her to sit on… a chair with parapets and turrets. She gets out a notepad, flipping to a page, then focuses her gaze up at Videl.

Maple smiles. “Do you like sports, Videl?”

Videl frowns. “Yeah? Well, depends on the sport.”

“Heh, yeah. I’d say softball’s a bit too slow for my tastes.” She tilts her head. “How do you feel about volleyball?”

Videl sighs. “So, I take it you’re here to talk about that thing with Pep-"

A mere 5 centimeters away from Videl’s face, Maple shouts, “PEPPA HAD A MEDICINE BALL DROPPED ON HER HEAD! DID YOU DO IT, DID YOU?”

In the face of one of the strongest persons on the planet’s hysterics, instead of backing up, Videl Satan snarls. “Hell no!”

Maple glares at her, her teeth clenched and huffing… then backs off, descending to the sand chair. She reclines in it and lets out a sigh, which starts a coughing fit.

Now a bit disgusted, Videl crosses her arms, looking away from the well-respected former champion and savior of her mother. …ugh, she is the savior of her mother. May as well. “I could smell the smoke on your breath. You really shouldn’t, Ki is Qi and Qi is Breath. Forget about way down the line, if you get in a fight today and you can’t breathe right, you’ll lose. Big time.”

Maple gives her a pained grin, half chuckling and still coughing. “Thanks for looking out for me, sweetie. But I wouldn’t worry about it, cuz… I’ve died before. May as well live a little!”

Videl shakes her head. “No, you can’t live a little. You have a lot to live for, Maple.”

Maple smiles up at her. “...well, damn.” She laughs, looking over her notes once more. “Just got told. Tell you what, I’ll give you a ring if I survive the day, I do have some fights ahead of me.”

Videl lets a puff of air out her nose, and uncrosses her arms. “So any other questions for me? And why are you so sure I didn’t after I said I didn’t?”

Maple presents a pamphlet on The Noble Eightfold Path, and explains, “I have the power to tell when people are telling the truth by following these eight simple steps, you should check it out sometime! And I do have more questions, I just needed to get the easy one out of the way.”

Videl nods… “‘The easy one.’ That was the easy one?”

Maple nods, and pokes her notes, “Though she got hit with a medicine ball and passed out, after reviewing her memories with telepathy, she had a clear enough vision of your friend, Erasa Paru, laughing at her misfortune from a window above.”

Videl shakes her head, “That makes no sense. Erasa wouldn’t-”

“That is what Peppa experienced. She had doubts that Erasa could aim a medicine ball to fall on her from a third-story window, and figured you,” Maple regards Videl with a grim look, “had hated her enough to help Erasa with this prank.”

“...” Videl looks down. “She thinks I hate her?”

Maple continues, “Peppa thinks there’s a reason for it. Ever since the Valentine’s Day Incident, the two of you have been distant.”

“...”

Continuing, Maple lists off, “She roped you in on holding the class up for a bag inspection, she wouldn’t tell you what exactly she was looking for, but she would be forced to confide in her cousin, and then seemingly assaulted her cousin to the point of bleeding. And before you could determine what happened, she left to go see Izzy in private, against your advice.” With a sigh, Maple admits, “Yeah, she was asking much of your patience that day.”

Videl huffs. “That day, Izzy said Peppa had spilled some red paint on her, but Sharpner saw otherwise, and we had confirmed there was just a pillow on the desk they were using and nothing like a spilled paint container. Izumi was lying to protect Peppa. So I asked Peppa what happened because she looked really suspicious, and Peppa kept saying she couldn’t say.”

Maple glumly concludes, “So there was not only distance, there was distrust between the two of you.”

“But, I did trust her. Why couldn’t she tell me the truth?” Videl protests.

Maple considers. “She might tell you, one day. Or she might not, and you’ll have to leave it at that.”

Videl’s gaze narrows, and she asks Maple, “Do you know what happened? Tell me, please!”

Maple holds up a hand. “It’s both a medical issue and a family matter. It was something Izumi didn’t want to air out in public, and Peppa kept silent about it for her cousin’s sake.” Oh, that Peppa didn’t let her know about any of this until she had to go delving through her noggin was a sore spot for the proud mother and auntie, but Maple could still empathize with Peppa’s reasoning… even if it ended up paving a road to HFIL. “I’m going to see Izumi and her family about it later, we’ll discuss that. For now, please trust that Peppa had her reasons.”

Videl slowly nods. “I see, I… guess I should have thought better of her, then.”

Maple nods, “And she should have done the same. I can see you were mainly concerned and feared she was being reckless, but she didn’t see that and decided you were being vindictive to her because she wouldn’t confide in you.”

Videl winces. “Well, I… I guess I kinda did that too.” Tearing up a bit, she mutters, “I’m sorry.”

Maple rolls her eyes and wags the notepad, “C’mon Videl, I said you were mainly concerned for her sake. Even with the other stuff, that counts. You’re only human-” Maple the Alien then cuts herself off. “Uh, earthling, I mean? Wait no… Hrm… Mortal! That’s right, you’re only mortal.”

Videl still looks upset, so Maple clothes beams up a handkerchief for her. But Videl refuses, as crying is admitting weakness and is for weak little whiners who can’t, and she attempts to suck the tears back in with sheer grit and determination. She then shakes her head so it looks like sweat comes off her brow and it’s all cool and sparkly.

Maple pulls down the brim of her hat as droplets fall, muttering that even a Videl may cry. “Anyway!” She flips to another page. “So, glad I could bridge that gap a little, but that leads me to my next question.”

Videl sniffs. “Yeah?”

Maple presents a crayon drawing of Chuu Lee which is only recognizable from all the red for hair and the words Chuu Lee. “My former apprentice, and your current teacher, Chuu Lee. Peppa has memories of her saying she was going to get you, Peppa, and Gohan into a room together to hash things out.”

Maple’s grip tightens around the “CrayoLee,” and she chillingly asks, “Now, from our talk just now, I have an idea, but just to be sure, did she ever get all three of you rounded up to do that?”

Videl cringes at the intensity, and shakes her head.

Maple snarls, and slaps the cover of her notepad shut, tiny chunks of red flying off from it. “What is that girl getting up to… Well, in any case, a question for her.” Maple tips her hat, “Thanks for helping me out, Videl. I will have to see Erasa as well, I hope you can accompany me for that. I might flip out.”

Videl raises an eyebrow. “Wait, that’s it?” she asks, then shakes her head. “Now wait a second, I still don’t think Erasa could do something like that. I’ve never seen her use psychic powers before… well, she’s the best at gossip and knowing what you’re thinking about, but she can’t throw stuff with her mind. And she’s my frie- oh wait,” Videl cuts off as she realizes something.

Maple flips to a clean sheet of paper. “Whatchu got, Videl?”

Videl ponders for a bit, her expression growing more uncomfortable, even reddening a bit. After connecting some dots with some repressed memories, she grouses, “Okay, so, I just said Erasa is the best at gossip and guessing what people are thinking, she’s also really into fashion.” (“Mmhmm.”) “And, there were some other things that happened with Peppa.” (“Yeah that seemed likely.”) “One of the incidents, some of the stuff Peppa said in her defense sorta goes along with that.”

Maple looks up to Videl appreciatively. “Okay, okay. But before we get into that, Ms. Satan, you look like you’re burning up. Why don’t you lay down on that bench there? I’ll get a cool towel.”

“I’m uh, fine, it’s just,” Videl says, uncomfortable with what she’ll have to relay, but she still does as Maple directs, and the cool damp towel does feel really nice after exercising and that intense talk earlier.

After a bit, Maple removes the towel, and places her hand on Videl’s forehead. “Now to take your temperature and…”

~~~
In the middle of an orange desert, the Doting, Scolding, and Inquiring Aspects of Maple drive along Route 666, and then turn off of it to their destination, the Devil’s Palm. A drive-in theatre where five mountain peaks obstinately penetrate up through the sands, which have since been repurposed, four of the Devil’s Fingers to hold up the screen, and the Devil’s Thumb to house the projector. And the car-goers rest within the palm.
Inquiring asks the other two, “Did we get here too early?”
Scolding grumpily crosses her arms.. “It feels like we got here too late by literal months.”
Doting looks at the pamphlet for the showings. “We’re here to see ‘Shower Thoughts’ and ‘No Riches?’ seems like a double feature, and with our powers of foresight, I think we might get some previews of the coming events after the feature presentation.”
Scolding barks out a laugh. “At our pace, we’d be lucky to get through the first part by the time the thread falls off."
>>
Inquiring takes the pamphlet before Scolding can snatch it, and reads it. “It says here the film won’t start till ‘After bedtime.’ What’s that about?”
https://youtu.be/-AFil1Vm2KY
And then, a sandy gust of wind blows in from the desert, and gets sand in each of the Aspects' eyes.
Scolding grumbles, “You sunnuva… zzz…”
And they all fall asleep.
(Welly well well well, seems I can still write after all. And after all is after a weekend of no interruptions, all-nighters, and adderall. I'll see if I can get through the flashbacks, but I am definitely postponing the next thread till I can get free time at work. Thanks for reading if you're still there, Big Zam, and if anyone else read too, thanks!)
I'm here and very surprised to see an update here. Thanks OP, hope things get better and I think now there's a reason to archive this unless you wanna repost this "begining" on the new thread.
