It heals the wounds of people and Pokémon by sprinkling them with its sparkling scales. This guardian deity is worshiped on Akala. It said to has an unpredictable and mischievous nature and can cause harm instead of aid at times." Its staring at you. Like directly at you. Not Mallow. You. "Wow...She must see something special in you." Mallow whispers in your ear. "The Guardian Deities rarely acknowledge tourists."

This has always been a bit of a funny plot hole. If it can be ethically sourced from pokemon it usually is and with tons of attention drawn to it. Otherwise it’s either a joke, a plot point, or simply kept ambiguous, though supposedly some Pokédex entries refer to eating pokemon and to non-pokemon wildlife existing. I vaguely remember Slowpoke Tail used to be considered cruel, but recently it’s been retconned to grow back quickly enough to basically be harmless because it ended up being so iconic. I say go with whatever’s easiest.

You've never been in a kitchen before. You find the entire experience interesting to look at. Mallow moves sharp knives of various shapes and sizes with a practiced ease. The room is nothing but counters, drawers, and a huge fridge. There is a walk in freezer and the whole place smells like herbs and smoke. "We have a few hours before they come for dinner rush." She takes the bowls with a practiced ease to a table. "I hope water is okay." She sets it up. "So tell me how it is?" She seems genuinely enthusiastic to see how you like the food. Its rather spicy but also sweet and savory. You begin to sweat a bit from the spice.

"In Alola its not legal to fly around with your Pokemon without a special license. We aren't sure why...but on occasion the Island Deities get really mad if they see someone they don't recognize flying around. So the Kahunas worked on this system that special Ride Pokemon are approved. There are whole facilities and taxi services that are nationalized by the goverment....I read that in a brochure once. Interesting stuff. Of course if your really strong or you have the approval of the deities I guess you don't really need a license...even if its illegal. I know Stars rides his Altaria around without a care in the world. As a Trial Captain I get personal access to the Ride Pokemon free of charge. Hop on. I'll take you to my house on Poni Island.
