It has been 100 years since ancient beings, known as the Old Ones, walked the Earth with their two strong feet. Now they are gone and we animals now rule the remains that they left behind. With our new knowledge of sword and sorcery, we were able to survive in peace for a while, but then came the three factions. The Apes: Strong giants, claiming to be as just as the old ones and believe they should be the ones to rule over the new world. The Pigs: An intellectual but slothful group who wish to rule the world with an iron hoof and remain kings while the others remained as dumb animals. Then there the Lizards: A fast and large group that want to set the world a blaze. Trying to forget the harsh past that the old ones left. All three sides wishing to go war and destroy one another to bring in what they believe to be true peace. But, unbeknownst to everyone, there was another group. One that was trying their best to find a way to heal everyone. To bring back order. You found it.... and now you are taking care of it.A D&D Homebrew Adventure.Previous Quests:https://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Rise%20of%20the%20Awakened

Should be available in the morning.
>>5949578I should as well.

"You should remember it's Clayton's men and Wu Kong, not Clayton himself. Still you have a good point. Either way, your human when she turns back to normal has all the permission to stay around this area if she wishes.">Arsene says as he then rests his weary legs."But I must say you have definitely aged better than I did. What's your secret wolf? Prayer is what I did to keep myself alive.">Meanwhile with the others Maggie, in her bunny form still, just got done with her vinegar bath."Dear God that felt weird.">Maggie says with a shiver."Well I left enough vinegar for you all to clean your stuff with. In the meantime.... I'm gonna see if there's anyway to make me feel cleaner in this church.">Bobby, Ord, and Potato gave an affirming nod."Alright boys, you know the drill. Be very delicate when cleaning the artefacts. We don't know what could happen.">Bobby orders the two cats.
>>5949778Well it’s better than getting char broiled Ord and potato make sure the bullets have the seems between the shell and the metal round sealed as to prevent the small explosive powered from becoming moist and firing improperly same with the guns let Maggie clean her guns
>>5949800>Adler soon went up to the bear."Excuse me, but is there anything you need me to do?">The deer asks Ursus."If you don't I'd like to take a look around the church if none of you mind."
>>5949808Go ahead Adler if you need or see anything odd let me know, as for the plan in general be ready to face if and when things go wrong, there are a lot of dangerous elements around us, the more variables the more chances we will be found out, we already got caught and barely made it out through quick thinking from poko so be prepared to fight and or flee if the situation gets worse. We are in the monsters den yet we remain undetected
>>5949822(Replace face with fade)Forgot to add my name
>>5949822"Will do Ursus.">Adler said as he was ready to explore the church.>Suddenly Caramel joins him."Can I go with you? I want to see what this church is like as well. Plus there are some deer related questions I wanted to ask you.""I... I guess there's no harm in you tagging along.">And so Caramel and Adler went to explore the church. What do you do now Ursus?
>>5949828Ursus chooses to come up a plan to bug out if and or when mog’s plan fails or is forced to change, Arsene do you know what exits there are in the city and if there are any underground tunnels and sub stations? Possible points to hide and fade or possibly hold long enough for other people can escape? Any information of the number of the cities defenders and soldiers this can be useful to act as a plan B or to come back to if we have to come back to exfiltrate anybody in hiding.
Brb eating lunch.>>5949834Arsene is with Mog downstairs so it might take a while to get that question answered.
>>5949837Understandable my bad miss reading that. When she comes back Ursus will ask thus question also plan B for Bear
I'm here. Just give me a bit to catch up.
>>5949778"Prayer, a purpose, and an active life style. Keeps my mind from going dull, and my blood flowing. Lots of meat too, in enemy lands. Not like here, where one doesn't go about eating their neighbours, or at least that's how I remember it. Not sure about recently." Mog replied honestly, more at ease with someone who would understand.
Sorry for the wait, was making food.
>>5949860"Yeah I remember those days. I may not be Swift Old, but I am at least 75. I think.">Arsene says as he hobbles back upstairs."I remember when it was okay for us to eat our neighboring rabbits if they stole from our gardens. Now a days, the queen forbids such a thing. Says we need to better ourselves. Swift was okay with such a thing, I don't get why our queen forbids it now. Not like we ate all the rabbits or other animals. It was literally just the ones who commited crimes. Now she's trying to pass off a law with Louis about banning eating mammal meat all together. News flash sonny, not everyone is fine with eating just bird or fish. Oh. Sorry for ranting Mog. Anyways we're back upstairs. I got to check on the church and see if it's well protected.">>5949834"Huh? An alternate escape? Well there is the subway where the Old Ones are... but that might be a bad idea. Spiders live down there. Not sure how strong they are but back when I had an apprentice he went to check and see if the subways were safe.... he never came back."
>>5949875Spider do they by chance 8 legs?I might have some experience with fighting those they are definitely thinking beings definitely dangerous but with fire and axe their infested tunnel could become possible salvation depending upon how bad things get, they will have pitfalls pikes small hand weapons and a lot of other defenses they intertwine in their homes, we will need to be tapping each section of tunnel with long sticks and torches make ourselves too much of a hassle
>>5949878"If you think you can take care of the spiders, be my guest. Just be careful down there."
>>5949875Mog whistled "You're really pushing it, huh? Ever thought of writing down your wisdom for the next generation?"He quieted down to listen as Arsene recalled the past. Just before they reached the top of the stairs, he interjected "I'm fine with it, the insecure days when it was acceptable to eat a thief are long past. Back when I was young someone like that could ruin your life if you let them get away with it, them paying with their flesh was appropriate with food scarce and law's hold being weak. By the time I was called up for the war, the practice was already dying out. Nowadays such a law seems more civilized, but my concern is more about fairness. Is Louis gonna pass the same law in his lands, did everyone in his kingdom agree to the law? Something tells me the answer is no."When they got upstairs, Arsene and him parted ways. Mog decided to go explore the temple.I'm having Mog being slightly younger than Arsene. Since I said it wasn't, rather than was a time when one didn't eat each other for Mog. So Mog would've still experienced that era as a pup/young adult, but would've passed by the time he entered the war.
>>5949888"Like I said law still pending."
>>5949892"Right.">I wander the temple. Tell me what I find.
>>5949898>You see a bunch of statues.>All of them depicting his religion in some way.>All of them carved by the first preistess herself.>As you walk and observe the religious imagery, you also see Adler and Caramel.>Also observing the statues."What exactly am I looking at?">Caramel says."I think it's the image of the last old one dying?">Adler points out."Why would they depict that?""I don't know? Maybe because it's important to history?"Like to explain to them Mog?
>>5949906"This statue in particular is a bit eroded. Or defaced," the paladin noted darkly, "it makes things unclear which event this is depicting. Possibly it depicts them perishing for their sins against us, meaning the next one in the line, the broken one, would be the apocryphal prophecy that predicts the return of the old ones and our coming reconciliation and forgiveness and the dawn of the new age of peace and prosperity. Other accompanying eschatologies say that if a different path is walked, and war comes, then an apocalyptic age of strife shall ensue, though some also say some modest conflict will happen anyways before new dawn comes afterwards, a bump in the road before the smooth ride into the sunset so to speak."He walked the opposite aisle, looking at the similar near-mirrored statue on the other side "This one is a little different, though is about a similar thing, I think? It's about old ones that survived the end of their species, ones who didn't take Nihm, yet also didn't go into the pods. Seems they formed a settlement in the ruins of their people, but the rest of the murals and statues are too damaged for me to get a clear picture of how they died. Lizards probably, or too many accidents and not enough population to handle the losses. I only can tell this is what they mean because of the things I've learned on this recent journey, the history from Swift, Maggie's anecdotes, the Xenarus labs, and so on. I used to think these things depicted pre-historical old one life. I'm guessing these humans met the lizards but also Vitelia as well, since these are her works of art, probably the cause of a fair few ghost stories amongst the elders too, the ones who claim to have met old ones. It seems the lizards and our fair priestess learned different lessons from these creatures, probably where the lizards got their hatred from, though Vitelia seems to have picked up more positive lessons from her encounters."Coughing from the layer of dust covering the old stone, he turned to his fellows "Well, enough history. There's too many statues for me to count, we'd be here all day if he had to look at them all. We can come back here another time. I wonder what Ursus would think of these."
>>5949924>Adler was impressed by the wolf's smarts.>He soon followed him, carrying Caramel unintentionally."So the moon goddess.... she's nothing like the sheep mentioned. What was she really like then?"
>>5949930Mog chuckled at Adler's awe. "She's...not what I expected, though perhaps I should've. Uh...she's...shy, like a librarian I guess. Soft voice too. She keeps all knowledge, lost and found. Manages the afterlife, shepherds those who don't make it the first time, cleans up after her siblings, that sort of thing. So, mothering I guess is a good way to describe her too, though creation is the Earth's responsibility, though her green sister is rather harsh and uncaring for a mother. There's more to her though, and many secret duties to a paladin and her clerics that I'm not at liberty to reveal at the moment. One day I'll share, not now though. I can answer your actual question of what she's like as a...person...in greater deal though, just give me some time."He padded off towards their resting chambers, saying "Gonna rest for a bit first though. If Ursus or anyone needs me, feel free to wake me up.">I'm gonna begin a long rest for Mog. Since I want to skulk around at night as part of the plans we still haven't fully fleshed out with everyone. Mog should still be able to chat lightly though, since all the rest probably doesn't have to be sleep.
>>5949878>>5949887>After a bit, Arsene shows the bear the subway entrance.>It's one floor away from the sleeping humans."This is where it is. Like I said, easy to access but very dangerous. Wouldn't recommend entering in unless you are very skilled."
Rolled 9 (1d20)>>5949961Hmm >Ursus ponders upon the entrancePerception check to see if there are any Webb visible from above to below typically because they are vertically capable spiders can attack from all sides or at least the one Ursus fought
>>5949965>There is no web visible web."Checking for webbing? I would turn on the power but I am afraid it might drain power from the pods the old ones are in."
>>5949965>>5949968We do have torches remember? Ursus bought a bunch in preparation for us to enter the forest back in Plato on the recommendation of a shopkeeper, and maybe Lanesboro too. Maybe he can reroll when he lights one? Or Arsene can give him Assistance?
>>5949965>>5949968>>5949971I say if he lights up a torch he gains advantage.
Rolled 6 (1d20)Perception check>>5949968There are old ones down here?>Ursus whisper shoutsThis dramatically changes the situation. We must not let those reptiles and apes and pigs down here at all costs>>5949971Ursus procures a torch and lights it, it would be wise to not go alone without more pairs of eyes around
>>5949974lmaoWhere's Kinny when we need him? None of us can spot shit.
>>5949974"No problem with the Lizards. Feel how cold it is. The lizards would just fall asleep here if they take ten steps in this area. As I informed Mog. Now the apes, that might be a concern. But due to this being labeled as a santuary and holy ground, they would not dare enter here. Not if they want to start a war."Also you have one more roll due to advantage with torch.>>5949975I think he was here earlier right? That was the blue green one right?
>>5949977I think so, he was just letting us know he hadn't died and was still around. Probably still not feeling well though, if I had to guess. Not the most riveting stuff going on at the moment anyways, since we're in downtime after many sessions of downtime. The unfortunate (hypothetical) cycle is that we avoid doing anything important or super exciting to wait for him or to wait for me when I'm late, which may end up discouraging him since we end up not doing much more than talking and doing downtime activities. A brutal cycle. Not to say that we haven't had some kino moments in our downtime though, Kinny even said so himself. It is entirely possible the excitement of the particular moment in quest has nothing to do with his appearances or lack thereof, he could just be going through his IRL mental issues still.Still, sounds like we're ready to move on to clearing out an escape route and maybe afterwards skulking around in a preliminary information gathering operation if I can help it. Planning and history time seems mostly over, for now.
Rolled 19 (1d20)>>5949977Perception check once more
>>5949985>You soon find the webs.>Seem to be further down the tunnels.>Mostly down the right.>The left path is clear of spider webs.>Instead there seems to be some sort of hulking machine attached to the railroad path.>Convered in dust and looks like it could use bath.>Also looks like it could still work if you knew how to power the fucker up.>Still too many risks to take with it.Go down to the right or look at the train?
>>5949987Even if I cannot turn. It on I could investigate the cargo of the chariot construct if the machind cant even be opened it could prove to be a valuable asset in an emergency and gaging it’s operational status might be worth while that or a possible refuge if the spiders attempt to over power me with numbers then after I investigate it I move down to the right and begin to see how receptive to probing the webbing itself is with my old shovel
>>5949991Give me an Investigation check for the Train.
Rolled 14 + 2 (1d20 + 2)>>5949992Rolling
>>5949994>You can tell this machine was electric.>Even had sliding and locked doors.>But being a bear locked doors mean nothing to you.>You opened it up with ease.>Soon you see what's inside the huge metal carriage.>Passengers.>Or at least what look like to be passengers.>The mostly skeletal almost dust people, remain on their seats strapped in by their belts.>It's a grim sight but it's nothing you are not used to.>The train also seems to carry tons of leather bags with several documents, books, and what seem to be very expired creams and foods.Continue looking around?
>>5950003The books and documents could be important, but anything involving valuables are to remain with the dead may they rest in peace. Ursus will mark down the train to be emptied later and the old ones put to rest. Once I have fully acquired the books and documents I will leave the machine and head deeper into the tunnel towards the web
>>5950012>You soon start heading towards the spiderwebs.>You seem to see tiny bugs, mostly parasites like adult fleas, stuck in the web.>And somewhat eating them is a bunch of tiny spiders.>Almost the size of a penny.>All of them sucking the insides of the flea gone.>You then notice them looking at you.>As if they see you as a potential meal.
>>5950021Keeping the fire close but not touching I give them a reason to not view me as food
>>5950024The heat should scare them away
>be me on train at 9:40pm>suddenly remember today is catting dayAAAAAIIIIIEEEE
>>5950024>The spiders back away a bit.>Afraid of the flame.>As you travel further down Ursus you can definitely see more webbing.>Along with it, shed skin.>And from that molted skin you can definitely tell that this spider is definitely bigger than a bear.>You also see that there are other beings that have been wrapped and eaten.>Mostly big stuff like moths and flies.>Though you do see something a bit smaller.>Looks about Maggie (human) size.Investigate it?
>>5950030There he is!

>>5950086 Aye. She just stood behind the fence and YELLED at me while I fumbled with the key. Then after the photo someone was walking down the street and this bloodthirsty retard's head homed in on her like a Rottweiler and before I could react she was stalking through the rain to ambush a damn human for just passing by. >>5950190It's okay. Your health come first Friend. If you are tired then you must sleep. Sleep is important Friend.
I won't be able to make it tomorrow, just a heads up. Tuesday is still fine.
>>5950861Thank you for letting us know. Want us to just say your character is still sleeping if others are still wanting to play?
>>5950960Yeah, sounds good.
I won't be here either. Thursdays are the only busy day for me.
>>5951295Fair enough.Ursus already mentioned that he is waiting on Kinny or Mog. So I think it's best we wait til Tuesday for the session to continue.
I should be available nexr tuesday and thursday. If I don't forget like a faggot.
Should be available tomorrow.
>>5954494>>5952095I be should be available tomorrow as well. Hopefully I'll be able to make it earlier this time as well, but we'll see.
I'm around, though I probably won't be able to participate in earnest until 2 or 2 and a half hours later. Though that shouldn't matter since Mog is asleep and Ursus is the one with stuff going on at the moment. Plus sometimes Ursus isn't around until the time I'm usually available anyways.
>>5955222Sorry for being late alarm went later than usual>>5952095Kinny we go to you. What are ate you doimg at the church?

>>5955222>>5955238Guess while we are waiting for Kinny. What are Mog and Ursus doing for now?
>>5955241Ursus is debriefing mog on the spiders infesting the tunnels down stairs
>>5955234Here, but a bit confused. What can I do? Sorry I'm just REALLY out of it, to the point I can't think of anything the cat should be doing.
>>5955245>Maggie, now a human, while wearing Vinegar bathed clothes then approached the cat."Well that's something I never want to experience ever again.">She told the cat.>She then began to pet him.>Wanting to hang around him as they wait for the next phase of the plan."I'm not sure if you would get offended if I asked this question, but if we were to get in a battle and I was stuck in my rabbit form... how exactly do I hold a knife? You seem to be an expert on it so that's why I thought I should ask you.">She asked as she continued to pet the cat, almost gently kneeding him like a lump of dough.
>>5955248Kinny graciously accepted the human's affection and let her knead his back. Even though he was a member of species known for its indestructible spine, it was nice to receive a massage every once in a while. Preferably often. It was also good to get those spots that were usually smooshed by the belts and his backpack scratched thoroughly. Yes, this was definitely an acceptable state of being... Busy with these thoughts, the feline brain took a while to get to, and to process Maggie's question, resulting in an awkward silence during which only the loud - almost too loud - purring could be heard emanating from the black, furry piece of dough the human hands were rubbing."Urr. You don't... don't try to hold it in your paws." When Kinny finally spoke, it was sudden, like someone dropped gramophone needle on a record without a warning. "I know you homans have this reflex, I saw you try to grab things when you were a rabbit." The black cat extended his claws and dug them into the floor. He seemed ready to stop talking and just let Maggie remold him into a new form. But he valiantly resisted. After all, this human needed his guidance, his expertise, his... Kinny exhaled as he brushed off the desire to give into his intrusive thoughts, roll over and go completely limp. "You have to *bite* down on the handle so that it doesn't move, doesn't shake, doesn't do anything, otherwise you can easily get disarmed or get your teeth chipped. Once you get a firm grip, then you use your body and neck to deliver the blow. It's much easier to stab this way, but much more predictable. Swinging your weapon, on the other hand, requires either spinning mid-air to guide the blade using your body or a very, very strong neck, if you want to stay firmly planted on the ground and not turn your back to the enemy. I'm sure you saw Mog do that with his swords and felt what his neck feels like. He's practically made of steel there." Kinny's muscles involuntarily tensed in response to the topic. "For smaller animals I recommend just using the bodyweight." The cat looked up at Maggie with his orange eyes. "You should practice the stabbing motion and blocking first, the simple motions. Only try slicing when you feel like you can pull it off..." Kinny finished and trailed off into purring.
>>5955261"So body weight and pratice stabbing and guarding first. Got it.">Maggie said as she finished massaging the cat, giving him the best experience of his life.>You both then hear a bunch of cluttering downstairs."The hell is that?"Go downstairs and check it out?
>>5955267The purring has stopped. "Surely nothing horrible in this town of monkeyish influence." Kinny responded, voice filled with disappointment and annoyance over the disrupted massage session. Without skipping a beat, the cat rolled over, then rolled again, before grabbing one of his daggers that were lying on the floor. Despite this nearly theatrical display of laziness, Kinny was quick to jump to his feet and start stalking towards the door with a weapon in his mouth. Maggie could notice it was steady as he said it should.Let's assume Kinny was AFKing while I was away and has undone his gear for the time being. So he only has his dagger on him now, as he's going towards the stairs... so... "Grab my harness and backpack. If this is something serious I'd rather not leave it here." Kinny murmured over his shoulder as he disappeared in the shadow and reappeared on the stairs shortly after, the glowing blade being the only sign of his presence. Somehow, not having a backpack to disrupt his natural camouflage made the cat almost invisible at times.
>>5955282>Maggie followed.>Soon you and her go downstairs.>Where you see the traumatized bear and old wolf talking to each other.>Seems like there was something scary down here that even got to the bear.>Mudt be the reason you all feel a chill down your spine...>No wait...>That's a real chill.>It's colder around here.>Einstein then poked his little head out.>He sniffed the air."Hey guys! There are old ones around here!">The mouse shouted."Wait?! There are!?""Yeah! Should we check on them?"Check on the bear Kinny or check on the humans?
>>5955288First of all, do I know why Ursus would be traumatized? My dumb ass isn't sure how much Kinny heard of their plans and I have no intent on acting out on meta knowledge."You go check on the Old Ones, just be careful... there are elemental daggers in my backpack if you need them. Just don't throw." Kinny told Maggie. "Einstein, go with her. I'll check on Ursus and Mog first.">>5955222>>5955238Kinny walked up to the wolf and the bear, slowly easing the grip on his dagger. He then sat his bare black butt on the floor. "What's going on? Why are you shaking Ursus?" The feline rogue addressed Mog and Ursus respectively, clueless as to what could break the seemingly unbreakable bear.
>>5955292There are very big spiders in that tunnel, I killed one the size of mog but I saw the molts the size of me deeper in there and the remains of our hosts serpent in there, they where a bear, I would recommend if we go down there no one leaves anyone’s else’s side. If they get hungry enough they will go to the surface
>>5955297Replace serpent with servant and you get what I mean
>>5955297>>5955299>>5955292>Old Wolf Arsene then heard what the bear said."I'll inform your wolf friend. Old Mog definitely must jear of this news.">Arsene then went as fast as he could to the old wolf who was sleeping.>Leaving the cat and bear alone.>You then hear a call from downstairs."Guys you might want to check this out.">It's obviously Maggie.Go to her?
>>5955297Kinny remained still, only his pupils widened and then shrunk in response to the news of giant spiders. "Fire?" Was the first thing the cat blurted out. "Can't we just set them on fire?">>5955299"What was he doing down there?" Autocorrect?>>5955303Oh for fuck's sake, I thought it was Mog in there. I was about to ask, but then I've read "old wolf" and thought to myself there was no need. Amazing, lmao.>>5955297>>5955303"Yes, we should go." Kinny's fire dagger sparked in response. Are we going into spider den or some separate cryo chamber room?
>>5955307Cryo chamber
>>5955307It’s a tunnel with moisture not to mention we don’t know if there is anything explosive like pockets of gas that could alert unwanted attention to us
>>5955307The servent was sent down there to go checkout if there where spiders, I found their remains
>>5955222>Arsene then went to the old wolf."I am sorry my sleeping friend but your comrades need your assistance. There seems to be a spider problem downstairs and they need your help. Would you mind waking up?"
Yikes, sorry for being away for so long, had more to do than I thought. Just catching up now.
>>5955317>>5955319>>5955329"Fair point. I guess we could clean that place up once Mog gets back here. For now let's check out that fridge room Maggie went to." Kinny replied and ventured downstairs to see what the human girl wanted them to see.>>5955329It's fine man. I managed to manufacture one quality post today.
>>5955331>As soon as you get there, you see Maggie and holding Einstein, as if she hiding him.>As you get closer you then see...>Another black cat.>With a ring around her tail.>She notices you.>She gets in a defensive potlsition.>She hisses at you."Inns d’ ainm agus do shaighdear inbhe!">She... asks?>Wait?>A cat who can speak human?>Something doesn't seem right.>You turn towards Maggie, since she is the only one with a collar (not to mention the fact she is human), thus can understand>She mumbles to you."She's asking for your name and rank.">She informs you. What do you do?
>>5955243>>5955327>>5955307Mog slept, dreaming of she-wolves, blissfully unaware of the bear rambling just a hallway away about giant tunnel spiders. Suddenly his dreams took a dark turn. Atreyu's lurid tones took on an agonized quality, as her flesh smoked and bubbled away in Kinny's lightning strike. As she turned to ashes, her voice carried on the wind "You killed us...you killed me...for nothing."He turned to the cat standing in the barn's entrance and asked "Why was this bitch whispering lewd fantasies in my ear? And guilt-tripping me. I didn't even like her."Kinny replied in picture perfect nonchalance "Because..." the cat donned sunglasses in the middle of night as a guitar solo flared, "...she wanted to get Mogged. Yeeeeaaaaah!"The dream abruptly ended, Mog shooting violently awake to Arsene shaking him."Wuh?! W-what's going on? Kinny?! Where's Atreyu and the she-wolves? Why are you wearing sunglasses, it's night time?" Mog looked about confused, "Oh, it's you Atreyuuuh-...A-Arsene, Arsene, right, sorry. Spiders, o-okay, got it. Be right there."He hurriedly donned his war harness and ran out the door to join the others.
>>5955332Baffled Kinny instinctively stepped back from the hissing cat despite being a solid couple meters away, but upon hearing she's asking for ranks he relaxed a bit. "Introduce yourself and tell her to tell us her name in exchange for being taken out of this fucking freezer into a warmer place... You'd be surprised how well that works on cats." He added, when met with human's questioning expression. "Go on, tell her." Kinny forced his body to ease a little and set his dagger on the floor, keeping it upright just by resting his chin on the handle. All in attempt to make the foreign catress calm down too. The rogue wasn't gonna give up important personal information to a strange fridge-cat, he knew better than that after giving Mog's temporary address to a shady frog mailman some years back.>Attempting to defeat this cat's resolve by exploiting her cat nature.>>5955333She was whispering because Kinny ran out of lightning "wolfbane" daggers. Won't happen again! Kinny is currently butt-naked with just his fire dagger, Maggie has his backpack and stuff. AKA cat's in nightgown mode (sans nightgown). Saying this for clarity's sake.
>>5955332Oh god, another Scot. First the husky, now a human with a ring. I wonder how the fuck she got one of those rings though. Guess they aren't Moon Goddess rings after all, maybe they're Xenarus tech. Or maybe there are just two separate versions of rings that do the same thing.
>>5955343Oh I'm retarded. But maybe not very retarded. Maybe this one will be extra vulnerable to cat's hatred for cold and love for warmth, due to not being accustomed to it as a human.
>>5955343...or maybe she just has a ring on her tail. That's what I assumed because I keep forgetting those fucking rings. REE
>>5955341Damn frogmail, I'll never trust it again, not after they stole my real packages and left me their eggs and they later came back with the ape lawman to claim child support.Gotcha.
>>5955341>Maggie followed the cat's instruction."Umm... I am Cadet Maggie Bigby ma'me! As for my co-horts they are just civillians or really just animals that are descendants of the animals from the research center. Their names are Ursus and Kinny. They have no rank ma'me.">The black cat then sighed."Math cuid de charaidean earbsach.">She said as she flung the ring off her tail.>Transforming her to her true form."Neònach. Bu chòir innealan-fuadain a bhith an seo gus aodach air a bheil feum mòr agus biadh furasta a thoirt dhuinn cho luath ‘s a dhùisgeas sinn. Chan e gu bheil feum agam air aodach air sgàth an sgaradh anns a bheil mi. Fhathast càite a bheil iad?">Maggie turned away and blushed."If you are looking for some clothes we have some upstairs! Ursus Kinny mind helping a lady out?!"
>>5955344>>5955346To be fair, there are probably other magic rings in this world that do other stuff. It's just the only magic rings we've encountered so far are the transforming ones. Also, I assumed she was human because she came from the fridge-room which holds humans, and she's asking for a name and rank and we know Maggie and likely many of the popsicles were child soldiers. So, yeah.
>>5955350Am I there yet?
>>5955352Let's say you just arrived.
>>5955341>>5955319Mog dashed down the stairs into the basement where the fridge was. "I'm here guys! Where are the spiders?!"Then he saw the human. "O-oh. Another Old One."The still groggy wolf shouted over his shoulder back up the stairs "Hey! Arsene! An Old One just woke up!"
>>5955350"Goddamned tricked again." Kinny picked up his dagger and shrugged. "Give me my shit back, we've got arachnids to purge. In the other tunnel, I mean. They gave Ursus a run for his money." The cat took his things from Maggie and strapped himself with her help. The belts might've been annoying, but the protection and dagger-sheathes they provided were well-worth the itching here and there. Kinny slid the fire dagger into its place on his chest and mimicked a salute towards Maggie. "Why are you embarrassed for HER?" The cat shook his head but left under the piercing gaze from the female human.>>5955355"You've heard the lady. Lazy lady needs her lady clothes." The cat gave Mog an empty stare as he passed him on the way upstairs to fetch some of the Maggie's clothes for this new Old One female they've found.>>5955347Wait, the cat knows nothing of this. This might be grounds not for mere avoidance of providing identification to strangers, but completely torching down that fucking swamp in particular and kicking all the frogmail employees that we meet in the future until they denounce their croaked ways and pray for salvation to Moon goddess/es. For the betterment of animalkind, of course.>>5955351I sadly lack the common sense in DnD, due to my lack of imagination. You'd be surprised how much information is lost on me, because of it, lol.Quite frankly I am 100% focused on just my equipment, the fact the newgal needs clothes and being grumpy. Everything else including contents of my inventory, lore of this newfag and Einstein's geolocation data doesn't come to my mind. Only so much processing power.>>5955352For the record - You, Ursus and 70yo wolf are on the ground floor. Kinny, Maggie and Einstein are in the freezer and spiders are waiting for death (and taxes) in their tunnel.
>>5955357>>5955353>>5955319"I just got here, what's going on?" The wolf gave a confused glance as the cat walked by.Turning back and forth between the bear and two humans, he shrugged "Maggie, it's better if you take care of the clothes, privacy and all that she-ape stuff. We've got spiders to burn. C'mon Ursus."With a final shrug he walked back up the stairs. As an afterthought he shouted so both Arsene and Maggie could hear "You better explain to her not to go outside, Clayton wants his super weapon and the lizards will burn her alive if they get even a whiff of her! Make her take a vinegar bath too!"
>>5955357"Someone has to!">Maggie exclaimed.>>5955355>The old wolf then went to the cryochamber room.>Feeling just as tired as Mog."I can't tell if this day is horrible or blessed.">Arsene said as he observed the new human of this world.>He then offered her a collar from his satchel."Glè mhath, tha eadar-theangair agad.">The woman said as she gantly took the collar and put it on."Much better. Now then. What did the cat mean by spiders? And before you ask kitten. Yes I know a bit of your language. Helps when you are a spy that constantly takes the form of a cat to steal information.">She says as she pets the cat."Trust me when I say you are not first cat to say they were "tricked" again. Now then. Now then give me all the information you know about this spider situation. I want to hear everything you know.">The old wolf then looked confused."Why do you want to know?">Arsene asks."It is my duty to protect and serve the people who are trapped in this cryochamber. Now explain the situation so I may help."
>>5955365>"Someone has to!"Kinny stopped and looked at the floor. "Yeah, you do it. I'd rather be burning spiders than dealing with Old One clothing rituals. And the clothes are too big for me to carry comfortably anyway." The cat shrugged.>"It is my duty to protect and serve the people who are trapped in this cryochamber. Now explain the situation so I may help.""You're the only one who was trapped in here!" The cat hissed, confused about the new human's disregard of her lack of clothing and gave Maggie an annoyed look as if to accentuate she should deal with this, because he's fed up with the human business.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTZZPCw4nQM&t=125

QM said I just arrived, after the newbie finished talking and Maggie asked you to fetch her clothes. Though thanks for situating me, but I think I've been keeping track so far. I did actually spend the time to catch up rather than just rush out that dream post.
>>5955371In regards to skipping and rushing, I did read from the beginning of this thread, but I've lost some of the previous one, so I was still out of the loop as to where we currently are.

>>5955365>>5955373>>5955369Kinny hurried after the old maniac wolf, pulling onto his shoulder strap to get it into the perfect spot. "Yeah, I'm going alright! I don't exactly know the situation with spiders, but Ursus said they are BIG. As BIG as him and apparently killed another bear who worked as a servant here?" The cat rolled onto the last step and landed on his butt. The tail was wagged as he looked for >>5955375 Ursus' part.>>5955378Cool, take your time

They could rise again as an undead! Providing nourishment to those blood suckers is bad enough." Mog spoke up passionately, now even more determined to get right to the spider-slaying.>If no one else has any reservations, Mog will let Ursus lead the group to the tunnel with the spiders.Though if Ursus wants to talk more with this new human, then Mog will wait.I know Ursus enjoys history and talking with people, so Mog is willing to wait even with what he sees as an urgent task at hand. I'm not actually as impatient as my character.
>>5955375>>5955378>>5955384I imagine the newOne will actually come with us since she demanded to go anways. Would combine the two perfectly. Either way, I'm fine with waiting or even leaving Ursus here and going down there with Mog.

The final touches done, Mog nodded along and followed in the bear's weighty footsteps into the stark shadows of the spider's den."Moon preserve us in these trying times. Though your light does not pierce the earth, your sweet-song soothes your sister still. Gird us in your twilight raiment, O'mighty Luna. >>5955409Make sure to look above as well these things have the benefit of verticality
>>5955393Well, I still ask Ursus that question and adjust Kinny's strap, the speech stays too. I still use my Born Leader, but since talking is a free action, I will also start burning the webs with my torch. To lure out the big ones, rather than risk being ambushed. We're in a confined space, yes, but the smoke has places to go, and with electricity on later we can turn on the old vents.>In addition to the aforementioned actions, I start burn webs with my torch unless interrupted by my friends or the spiders.

And according to your friend we can't have that.">There you see the human that just woke up just a few inches behind you.>She approaches you, wearing only a tanktop and loose pants."So judging by the molted skin, I would have to say that spiders are no longer as big as a hand. >>5955420The wolf shrugged "Not enough pressure for explosion, too much open space and ways for the gas to exit, need more than fumes and an open flame to get more than spurts of fire. Besides, if there was that much gas, the spiders wouldn't be alive, and we would've died upon first entering the tunnels with our torches lit. A little webbing to add to the bonfire won't hurt."Attention returned to the fiery task at hand, he left the lieutenant to her musings with Ursus.

You get the ability back on a long rest, and we (or at least, I) were just about take one of those anyways before Ursus went exploring. Me sooner than you guys, since I voluntarily went to bed early, but sleep or not, we were probably gonna time skip a solid chunk of the day just for rest/lounging about anyways. I mean, everyone (aside from me who just decided to sleep, since I wanted to sneak without my plate armour at night) still had things to chat about and the rest of the temple to explore and old ones to talk to, but the jist of it is that it is all generally restful downtime activity that should contribute to a long rest.We should probably finish clearing the tunnels though, there may be more fights to come.

It could have possibly killed all these spiders with relative ease. The only possible reason not to take the train is if there is like a brick wall that is blocking its path. Also would very much help with your escape plan."
>>5957106Well actually that was one of the plans, the problem is we are effectively in a town full of our enemy factions, if we start it up I imagine the amount of noise and light would make us targets. As for our enemies they don’t know we are here, the current working understanding is the lizards and their draconian leader us up there, they typically burn down towns that have sn ounce of old one= human artifacts and information, then there are the apes who are attempting to deface and portray themselves as old ones, the pigs who are much more barbarous replacing limbs and parts with machinery and the belief that eating old ones gives power, then there are the wolves who have been possibly infiltrated by a pays actor attempting to alter mogs religion to favor the apes more killing any who protest against them with possible poisoning And that pretty much wraps up why I haven’t turned anything on, besides it would be pretty bad if the train? That’s what called it derailed on some rubble
>>5957121"Sounds like the lizards barely changed... still it is weird that animals have basically taken over the world. Though to be fair we have been gone for about... how long? 1000 years? If it has been a thousand I would have expected you guys to walk on two legs by now."
>>5957121Now mind you it’s not the people that are really to blame but their government I mean hell I’ve been told there are some apes in the government who would align with cause possibly, I have met a lizard bar keep and a pig who made his business brewing beer all of whom where quite amicable and quite friendly but they are the outliers
>>5957123Well I typically walk on two legs but I’m a bear and I have the anatomy to afford it, as for why we haven’t fully done that well I suspect it has to do with that nihm stuff expanding our minds rather than bodies not to mention we really don’t need to especially when we have the intelligence to work around it not to mention the lack of thumbs >Ursus shows his paw which is using all the fingers to fully grip the axe with a strap (like a wee remote wrap Ed around his wristI suspect nature works with what she provides after all
>>5957125"I don't know about you but I never met a damn good lizard in my life. Especially during the war. The cadet may believe in your story of lizards being good... but I would rather see proof than hear stories.">>5957128"I mean you can still work with what you got. I mean even old dogs can learn new tricks.">She then realized there was an old dog around."No offense wolf."
>>5957131You know it’s funny you should bring this up I have been working on a design for mounting those ranged weapons Maggie uses, I believe she referred to them as fire arms guns shorthand, basically the mount is meant to allow for 4 legged beings to use longer ranged fire arms or possible crossbows like the deer in our group who goes by the name Adler what I’m planning is to have a mouth piece wired up to a guns trigger and having it amiable by mouth although I could always have mice be able to sim it like some miniature ballista still work on the controls
>>5957133In concept of course I haven’t had the time to create a model yet or any guns to use for that matter
>>5957133"Got any sketches to go with those ideas?"
>>5957137(OOC I do not I have not had the time to other than ponder in character Ursus has been doing this)>Ursus brings out his sketch book, I am planning on having this with an armored compartment for mice and or rats of course giving them ear protection, for them of course same with the deer
>>5957140(There will be a design sketch later)
>>5957140"I would suggest earplugs but those work more for humans than animals. Maybe headphones or earmuffs might be better."
I figured I'd make a gif based on Kinny while I wait for responses.Sause: https://youtu.be/m6iYzl7t_2I?si=1twgXs3hiFEaFxqw
Heading towards the house now. Either BrB or see you guys later with a different tag.
>>5957179GOOD LUCK
Sorry about that. Took longer than expected.Anyways you all can continue.
>>5957142That’s the plan especially for the ones with the gun right next to their heads
>>5957238"Next to their head? I don't know about you but a gun next to this poor kitty's head would definitely hurt his poor little ears. No ear plug on earth could help him.">She says as she started to pet the cat riding on her shoulder.
>>5957234I kind of just have nothing to add. Sorry for not really being here but had a fucking shitshow of a day trying to make a bootable usb drive and failing. All day down the fucking drain.>>5957169I don
>>5957241Hmm then maybe instead of having them aim it’s probably the mice and rats that could use them as a weapon platform and aim without being too close to their partners head
>>5957245Just wanted to point out that basically everything that Kinny did to sneak up on that spider was technically doable for a cat. As for hanging upside-down, spider webs are sticky in some areas, he just used that stickiness carefully to not fall to the ground.
>>5957248Yeah I know. I just thought it was something funny to use for later.>>5957247"Yeah but then the head would get in the way. I mean you have a good idea, you just need to work on the execution."
>>5957252Yeah that’s my problemMaybe if they could use magic to hover the guns instead of relying upon a weapon mount, maybe a spell taught to all warriors and soldiers to be able to cover their lack of arms and hands
>>5957260>The human pauses for a bit.>She stares at the bear for a while.>With a look that expresses so many questions she wants to ask the bear."..... I'm sorry did you say magic?"
>>5957262Ya know I have a working theory on magic as well, magic is a possible bi product of exposure to nihm for instance Maggie has already supposedly manifested magic not to mention the lack of magic from Maggie’s time shows that it as because of something farther down the line, I suspected as lab mice and rats that where exposed to nihm began to propagate it through the food web effecting the entire ecosystem after all large enough spider prey upon mice the effects of nihm has caused most mammals to become people and as time progressed manipulation if the nihm would become uncovered. Not to mention the living human weapon that we found the shadow of, she was definitely monstrous she created hybrids of living creatures such as those owl bears and those poor half ape half trees>Ursus visibly shudders from the horror of that momentShe has discovered a way of hiding amongst us through these rings, some form of focus of nihm Ursus hands her ha ring, Maggie has already used the ring herself to hide along with us.
I'm here, sorry for being late again. Posts will probably be a bit haggard, I'm ultra tired. Only caught a couple hours of sleep and I have a few things to do, so I may be intermittently afk.
>>5957267I recommend keeping an eye out for any possible manifestations of nihm within your system although I think at this point we have changed so much from our ancestors that we could probably survive without nihm and still maintain our mental faculties
>>5957267>The Lt looks at the rings for a bit."Oh those rings. They're not really magic. Though I guess you can consider it magic. R-002 was playing with the cocoons in the Nihm chamber for insects and helped us discover that the coccons had some sort of strange effect on them caused by the Nihm, causing someone to tranform. So the scientists did a few studies on them and then force fossilzed the coccons in amber to make several rings. Those rings were given to me and a few group of elites and we used them to spy on the Dragoconians. You wouldn't believe how much they love cats. As for the other phenomenons I know nothing about. When we have time you really need to inform me how much the world has changed. That way I can tell other people when they exit from the cry chambers."
>>5957276There are others>Ursus paused They can’t stay here this spot is way to hot with hostile factions we need a secure place that we can send them to to avoid getting hunted by pigs apes and dragons even more of a reason to make sure this tunnel is clear of opposition
>>5957279"Do you even know where this tunnel leads?"
>>5957283
>>5957284"I'm going to take that as a no. Got a map?"
>>5957285Ursus brings out the map he was given from the arsene and a small pamphlet from the train that looked like a map
>>5957286>The Lt checks the map."Hmm.... where are we exactly?"
>>5957131"Not..." a pause as said old dog grunted under the exertion of hacking through armoured limbs, "...really..." another grunt of exertion, "...A DOG!"A final slash and the last limb fell. Panting for a few minutes while the tall ones chatted, Mog eventually said "But no offence taken."He then got to work harvesting what he hoped was the silk sac that Ursus pointed out in the abdomen.>>5957262>>5957267>>5957276When the human incredulously inquired about magic the wolf could only smile "Oh boy, who's gonna tell her? Hahah."Looking over his shoulder he saw Ursus gesticulating as the bear rambled on in his scholarly way. Of course Ursus would have an explanation for magic. Sounded like a good one too, but Mog knew that you couldn't know the unknowable. Magic was one such thing by definition. The truth of the origins of magic was obvious to all true faithful; the Gods created magic to create a new path forward for animalkind as the old paradigm fell away. Perhaps a hybrid way was possible, a balance of magic and technology. The processes of magic remained inscrutable though, Nihm may have enabled magic use by granting intelligence, perhaps it even empowered it, but Nihm did not explain the Divine. Clearly only the Gods could create such means. He was just about to share his thoughts when Ursus began offering his ring. Then the human shattered his world again. His sword dropped from nerveless jaws."That can't be true. They are Moonblessed artifacts! They recharge only in moonlight!"
>>5957293We’ll moon light is energy and energy can be transformed or at least that’s how Maggie and caramel explained it, it’s very possible Luna utilizes a form of magic compatible with the rings, not to mention how receptive they are to it, mind you it’s just a theory, the rings could just be highly receptive to it after all they don’t seem to charge from the sunlight, there is a definite correlation between this afterall I don’t believe that magic is actually connected by nihm rather it allows one to manipulate magic, mogs magic is distinctly lunar, it could be the rings are just compatible with all forms of mana but I don’t know nearly enough about magic to truly conjecture on the forms it can take but it is very clearly a part of the natural world
>>5957296Like the laws of physics certain aspects are hidden to the naked eye requiring specialized equipment to view or in our case the right biology to manipulate and sense
>>5957293>>5957296>>5957298"They recharge in the moonlight? These were supposed to be solar charged and charged in the sunlight. Something must have went wrong when making them. Still good thing you charged this one ring. There were only eight ever made.">You then remember that there are more than eight found over at the Forest Guardians base.>Which means... someone is making these rings.Inform the Lt or keep to yourself?
>>5957301(Better to inform than have to explain later)There where much more than 8 where we found them but that’s not really surprising because we found them in the living are if the human living weapon I have no doubt she has made much more
>>5957279>>5957283>>5957285>>5957286>>5957290The conversation moved on without him, but Mog moved to interrupt, the spider silk forgotten. "How do you explain the ability of wizards to transform without the aid of such a catalyst? This Nihm and its myriad uses cannot truly explain magic!"No, no, he was getting sidetracked. Bothering people with his beliefs could wait. At the very least he didn't want to be a boor, or a bore, he supposed."Never mind that, that can be discussed later. Anyways Ursus, she seems to already have a ring of her own, so you should probably keep yours. Who's this R-002 person?" Mog quieted down as he got closer, not wanting the noise to travel when the tunnels were still insecure.Joining them around the map, he said "Of course we should still clear our escape path and situate the lieutenant, but moving the humans, especially in such large numbers, is out of the question until we've secured a stealthy path all the way to Xana. Even if the tunnel led out of the city, we cannot move a herd of humans out in the open. If even a single patrol spots us and survives to tell the tale, the entire might of all the factions will be on us and follow wherever we go. Better for them to remain hidden while we do our work here. Once the diplomatic summit is over, the factions will have no reason to stay, hopefully at least. We can move in the open then, not before, it's too risky."
Something and up brb
>>5957306Should say *At the very least he didn't want to be a boor, or a bore, either or, he supposed.Forgot a bit of the sentence, sounds better with it in.
>>5957307Waiting warmly. I'll brb as well.
>>5957307Came up brb
>>5957303"I would say "That's impossible", but judging on what's happening here, I'm willing to believe it.">>5957306"R-002 isn't a person but rather a rabbit that crazy quackjob Niklas sewed Nihm Stones into along with two other rabbits. Probably not that important, they are probably dead now at this point.">Lanesboro is probably laughing somewhere."Sounds like a sound strategy. No wonder the bear calls you a leader. But what's this about a summit? Are you trying to request something?"
>>5957315I never said my theories were full proof just hypothesis being tested as we continue this journey we have been on, it’s been a combo of history gathering musings, and the like, afterall A lot of time has passed between humanity going dormant I mean our races collectively call you old ones, effectively gods or at least holy beings or divinity it’s only recently I had my suspicions proven that you are people like us only you had the benefits of being the first on the world stage as it was
>>5957315Mog laughed "You mean Swift, or perhaps Relm? Jeez, everything does tie back to those rabbits, huh?"He turned around and padded over to his sword, returning the butcher's work of carving out the silk sac. Over his shoulder he said "We're not really...requesting...anything, per se. More like, demanding what's ours is returned at swordpoint, preventing the subversion of my nation, bribing the politicians so they don't follow the will of our enemies, and raising an army to bring a close to an ongoing hundred year war. So, yeah, not really a lot of requesting going on."
>>5957354Didn't refresh, so I didn't see this. Fancy us coming back at the same time though.>>5957315>>5957356>Also, do I roll to see how my harvest goes, or what?
>>5957356Hence why I’m making an exit strategy for if his plan does not pan out
>>5957358Give me an Animal Handling or Nature check when it comes to gsthering the silk.Sorry for the late response.>>5957354"I mean according to my religion you guys came first and then the humans were made. Well 1 man and then woman was made from a rib of him, but point still stands.... Wait I thought animals knew there was a God?">>5957356"So what are you doing then?"
>>5957354>>5957356>>5957374Kinny just sat through right the conversation. He had nothing of importance to add and was busy obsessively licking his paws clean from the sticky web he clinged to. The feelings of determination and disgust mixed on the cat's face into a rather peculiar expression as he licked and wiped his feet time and time again, dissatisfied with the state, unwilling to continue and unable to stop. Such was cat life, sometimes.Lol, I just realized that I don't ever mention magic purely because I despise the spell bookkeeping it comes with.
>>5957374Well maybe becoming people results in the loss of knowledge or at least the knowledge becoming obscured, I’m not super religious. However you wanna interpret it is probably valid iether way
>>5957378>The Lt then pets the cat."You've been pretty quiet. You doing okay? Need to switch shoulders?">>5957385"Maybe we should have to discuss this later let's head further down."
>>5957388Yeah let’s move on further down
>>5957390Kinny and Ursus roll perception... I will tell you what happens once Mog harvest.
Rolled 19 + 1 (1d20 + 1)>>5957374>Animal Handling checkSorry, stepped away from the keyboard again.Busily groping the insides of spider, Mog had little attention to spare for the human. "What God? Some human God? We all have our own Gods. Yours may as well tell us why he didn't speak up when you guys invited the demons onto the surface of Our Harsh Green Sister."Up to his shoulders in spider gunk, Mog pried out some organ that looked vaguely like what he was looking for."Ugh, ahem. Some cultist stole our guns and are trying to bargain them for some nefarious purpose with the animal kingdoms. We're trying to stop 'Persephone', some human-experiment gone wrong from the Nihm stone embedded in her. That means stopping the arms deal. We're also trying to stop the other kingdoms from subverting my government's institutional and religious structures. Hence the bribing. Gotta play dirty when the enemy won't play fair. Got a dirty priest to fry too. Some crazy rogue wolves on top of all that as well. I wonder if Clayton's secret weapon has to do with the guns the cultists stole, or with Persephone herself, could be an indication of which camp she fell into. Maybe we can loose Ol' Lincoln on the ape camp, if that's the case. A chunk of the city may burn, but the new ape renovations aren't worth a damn in my book anyhow. Listen, we've got a lot of individual baby steps to get to where were going, so just don't do anything stupid while we work on our plan. Okay?"
Rolled 11 (1d20)>>5957394Rolling perception
>>5957397>The old wolf finally found what he was looking for.>The Web fluid sack.>Mog was careful and gentle with the organ.>Trying his best not to damage it at all.Mog gained the web fluid sack."Depends if I don't like where the plan is heading.">The Lt said as she listened to the plan carefully."Still... I can believe the son of a bitch actually did it. He embedded a stone into a human.">>5957399>As Ursus takes the lead he sees nothing at the moment.>Nothing but webs and baby spiders.
Rolled 8 + 2 (1d20 + 2)>>5957404Gonna wave the torch at them while burning the surrounding web to get them to retreat
>>5957406That’s a minus 2
>>5957406>>5957410May I ask, are you rolling to attack the webs? Cause if so, you don't need to roll to do that.
Rolled 6 + 1 (1d20 + 1)>>5957404"No, it really doesn't. It's our business, this stuff with you humans and Xenarus is arguably a side curiosity to us animals. Maybe it's the other way around for you. Whatever the case, we can't have you endangering the temple or the rest of your companions because of some disagreement over how we go about things. You go out there, you'll either be hailed as a Goddess by some fringe cultists, or more likely seen as an ancient predecessor with secrets to tell, but you won't get the chance to make use of either position because either Clayton's generals will kidnap you to try and coerce you into being a brainwashed super soldier for them, which would make you an enemy of us by the way, or Lincoln would burn you alive along with half the city. We'll find some way to get you to Xana, you'll be safe there. The 'R-002' you mentioned earlier resides there as Elder." Mog lectured, carefully stowing the silk sac into his side pack while he talked in measured tones.Deciding to balance out his bossiness with praise, Mog added "You're taking the news about Persephone rather well though. Maggie threw a fit and wandered off when we all found out. I take it you weren't close? Persephone I mean, not you and Maggie."Job finished, the wolf joined his friends in advancing up the tunnel, keeping his eyes peeled.>Perception check
>>5957414 No I’m trying to intimidate the spiders and I’m not doing a good job of it
>>5957420"Like I said we were all in different divisions. As stated I was a spy, so I was part of a recon and infiltration team. I was mostly out in the field as a cat. And before any of you asks, the reason why I chose cat is because they are the most inconspicuous animal you can think of. They are literally everywhere. So no one would guess a cat is spying on them.">As they continue, Mog sees nothing but webs, which Ursus is burning down.
>>5957427Uh, well, if we don't spot anything, I guess we just keep moving until we spot an adult spider, something of interest, a branching path or reach the end of the tunnel. We're exploring the tunnel til its end after all.Mog held his torch aloft, catching the webbing on fire as they went. Otherwise he stayed silent, listening, watching.
>>5957440Sorry cooking supper>You all continue on.>It is mostly just a straight path with a few curves here and there.>Still best to keep your guard up.>You suddenly feel your skin crawl a bit.>You don't know why.Give me a perception check.

Rolled 12 + 1 (1d20 + 1)>>5957444
>>5957467>>5957445>Ursus then feel that chill again but can't seem to figure out where it is coming from.>Meanwhile Mog looks up and sees exactly what it is.>Another Giant Spider.>Just above you.>Frozen in place and encased in ice.>You can definitely see that it had bitten into a pipe of some sort of liquid that instantly froze it.What do you do?
>>5957469>>5957445>>5957378"Above us!" Mog voiced his first words harshly, before quieting to a murmur, "Nobody touch the pipes. Or any gears or levers you see. There's...ice in the pipes."Unsure of the need for quiet with only a ice statue for company, he spoke normally once he'd confirmed to himself there were no hostile listeners "I guess this one isn't a problem? Shall we move on?"
Sorry guys I need to leave.Sorry for all the late posts.
>>5957482Alright, no worries. I was late to the session and to several responses myself, probably slowed things down.Take care everyone, see you all Tuesday.
>>5957481Ursus stops and looks at the frozen Goliath, so that’s why I felt cold, Ursus calls over lt I think they tapped into some integral system in the cryogenics you may wanna patch that before it impacts your systems
>>5957394Sorry I was tired and sleep won.>>5957469>>5957481"That's a first." Kinny commented on the spider-freezing pipe, before turning his attention to the Old One. "Is that why you woke up? Does this have something to do with your cold sleep machines?" The cat wondered if the pipe bursting caused a failure and was the reason for the cat-woman's awakening in the chamber.
>>5960871I am here
Sorry for being late just woke up.>>5957481>>5957497>>5957784"I guess that definitely a way I could've woken up. As for repairing it. Long cold day in hell. Without the right equipment, suit, or training, you are just as dead as that spider. The ones in the pod are a lot less harmless but the liquid by itself without any help from that, will kill you. So best to avoid the pipes for now."
I'm here, but I've gotta make breakfast/do some chores. Will be back in 40.
>>5961219Ursus no stranger to the dangers of being trapped under ice carefully avoids the exposed pipes, hey Lt I understand if you don’t wanna talk about the past but I’ve so far seen some impressive constructs made by humanity, how far did you get before the war?
>>5961228"My last order to go out into the field was to gain information and intel about the draconians plan. All I found however was just plans to build a new ship. No weapons. Just a ship."
>>5961232Hmm not what I meant but I think that’s probably a good thing, humanity must have been hitting them so hard they felt the need to run away, as for ship was it one those ships made to tread the void of stars? I think I remember Maggie talking about the moon and traveling to it, had humanity touched the planets out there
>>5961235"As much as we hate to admit it, it was thanks to them that we got to go to the moon and back. There were plans for us to go Mars but that never haplened."
>>5961238Nah I’m certain you would have been able regardless of the dragons or not, after all you who has tamed lightning in a bottle, you who forged titans from steel bones, you who stood against the dark night of apocalypse and said no. You and your people are self made titans given enough help to come back out of the clutches of the darkness I have no doubt your people will shine brightly once more in the darkness.>Ursus lays a clenched bear fist on his chest to fully convey his belief
>>5957497>>5957784>>5961219"I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to the sciences, so correct me if I'm wrong, but should we worry about the coolant leaking out and blocking or hampering our escape route? I mean, is the coolant in the pipe pressurized? Will it blast out the spider fangs, leak out and fill the tunnel with ice, such that we cannot move past this section? Or even if there isn't enough fluid to fill the tunnel, could it turn the floor slick? Either could hamper this tunnel's use as an escape route." Mog interrupted, anxious now that the lieutenant had expounded on the dangers of the fluid.
>>5961244Well you see how icicles have formed on those legs, water has already formed fullly around the body sealing the pipe in the process, not to mention most of the pressure has probably been released when that spider bit into it probably leaking excess until the spider fully froze around it
>>5961244"We should, but again, we have no equipment to deal with such and a thing, and even grazing that liquid even by a drop can cause serious damage. My best suggestion is to turn back and maybe try to find some of that equipment that will help us. Either that or try and find someone within the pods that can fix it.">>5961247"True but who's to say that will last long?">>5961241"You sure know a lot about human history? Are you a scholar?"
>>5961247>>5961248"Ah, well, clearing the spiders comes first I say. When we get back to the temple we'll have to look around for said equipment though. You humans are the only ones with the right kinda paws to work that stuff anyhow." Mog replied, nodding his head towards the darkness of the tunnel ahead."Shall we move on?"
>>5961248>>5961247I would recommend those amongst your enclave? Family? Troop? Group that can provide the maintenance to take care of it, I don’t trust my own clumsy hands to not mess up trying, as for human history I am no scholar, I am a hobbyist at best, as for how I know so much my people or at least bears in general actively seek out and attempt to preserve knowledge no matter what knowledge is gained, typically script or parchment is preserved in prepared amber slabs, artifacts are stored and preserved aswell as documents pertaining to their origin and placement to ensure if the old ones (humans) returned they can be returned to their descendants and or owners even with that knowledge of humanity is very scarce out in the public, what with three powerful factions actively seeking to destroy eat or deface it to gain power politically, symbolicly, or otherwise, by the pit my people worshipped a great frozen construct in the shape of an old one with an axe we called the frozen king for generations, he’s still an important figure of religion, point is it’s very hard to preserve knowledge and spread it around while avoiding the ire of apes pigs and dragon forces
>>5961253The pits I have learned more of human history following this group than my people combined have in centuries Most of what conjecture I have is from connecting knowledge gained Maggie and context clues.
>>5961251"Good point. But when we return, we have to be careful around this area.">>5961253>>5961256"Again for a hobbyist you sure know a lot."
>>5961258Thank you, I’m honestly certain if the information of humans still existing eventually reaches my people there will be an immediate mobilization to provide protection and infrastructure for humanity to lean on seeing as a lot of metal working techniques came from the remains of a frozen repository of human knowledge long since burned from dragons
>>5961260Pic related
>>5961258Mog is right let’s continue securing the cave once again to make sure the adults are all gone, make sure to check your fur afterwards because the young seem to be possibly parasitic
>>5961260"Interesting, I don't think you mentioned this before," the wolf's ears perked up and his attention piqued, "was it just metal working, or was there knowledge of the old one factories within as well?"Ever since their first big discussion of what to do about the factions, long ago in the ruins of the city where they met, Mog had wondered if they'd ever awaken a human that could bring the same prosperity the old ones had held as their right to the masses of animalkind, all without destroying nature.
>>5961274>>5961258>Move on and continue to search for spiders to kill?As much as I love the discussion and lore, we did come down here to clear our escape. We can chat anytime we want anyhow.
>>5961277I’m not certain as for why I didn’t think it was important I can discuss later right now let’s continue to fight and hunt these spiders, Ursus moves on to continue being possible bait

At least in regards to the stealthy stuff. I'll probably do well at the trial we were anticipating though, being good at persuasion and all, you could be my lawyer there also. I say this because this arc seems to be well suited for the kind of heist shenanigans that took place in the very first session. Lots of opportunity for bribery/break-ins/assassinations/sneaky shit in the capital under lock-down style setting we have going on. All our enemies are in one place, many NPCs that are stronger than us, a government that should be friendly towards us but has either been subverted or is following its own interests in a way that goes against our idea of how things should be in order to sell out for human tech. We just have to get past this tunnel/cyro pod shit, and get back to the urban sleuthing.

>>5963007(eg the turantula from 8 legged freaks)
>>5962997>>5962984Also, I think you can actually get close to matching me in damage, certainly you can easily surpass Ursus. Even without your death mark thing. You are level 4, so you get 2d6 sneak attack damage against anyone within 5 feet of one of your allies (us) or against anyone you have advantage against, which should be literally everyone in at least one fight per day because of my Born Leader giving you all advantage for several turns. In melee I suggest dual wielding ordinary daggers rather than your elemental ones, that way you get you dex bonus added to your attacks. Technically it would seem to even out with your elemental damage (2d4 vs 1d4+4) but the stat bonus is more reliable and puts a floor on your damage, so that you always do at least 5 per dagger attack. So that is 2d4+4 plus another 2d6 on top of it, plus your death mark thing once per day. For ranged your lightning daggers has almost the same average damage as me striking with my magic sword without divine smite. Considering Fighters and Paladins are like the best sustained and burst damagers in 5e, it is pretty good that you can almost keep up with me and regularly surpass Ursus in damage.
>>5963012Eh, I just hate all this math.>dual wieldwith what? my ass?

Mog whined, regretting having come out from behind his nice bear shield.Pausing to brush against the Lieutenant to wipe off some of the goo, Mog made his way over to the corpse. Another corpse, another harvest. Before he got to work he chimed in to the ongoing conversation "First we'd have to find said 'trusted' animal traders to begin with. In my view, we ought not to compromise the temple. It's more than just another facility holding old ones, it's the perhaps the holiest place in the world for those of us who worship the twin Goddesses. I can't risk letting it be burnt down by Lincoln for some humans. Not to mention the risk of a renewed total war if Lincoln were to burn it down. No, better to move all the humans to Xana, let Swift sort them out."Opinion given, Mog got to harvesting the queen's silk sac.>Harvesting with Animal Handling again.
>>5963015Just use 2 ordinary daggers. I can give you my spare if you only have one. Though I'm sure you have 2, it's on your sheet.

>>5963022We use mouths, not paws.
>>5963029>>5963019"Ergh, yuck. Well, there we go. Maybe it'll be worth something, though we have plenty of money. Perhaps it'll be better off if we can figure out how to turn it into some sort of utility item. Something that can spray webbing, y'know, disable people, make webs to climb up buildings on, spray it on our paws to use as a poor wolf's Spider Climb spell, that sort of thing. Poco may know someone who could hook us up." Mog mused aloud, trying not to gag from the stench of spider innards.Carefully putting away the silk sac, he started padding his way back the way they came. Tapping his plate armour, he said "I think the plate will have prevented the worst of the parasites. We ought to strip and take a bath when we get back home though. A long nap and a meal wouldn't be out of place either. I do wanna sneak out tonight during curfew. We've got dark deeds to do, and the night waits for no one."
>>5963029Ursus averts his gaze and checks himself for any possible stowaways on his person
>>5963033True, but there was talk of us learning how to use our paws like humans. Plus, you could hold one in your mouth and either use both paws or your tail to hold another.
>>5963039You can't use fingers if you have no fingers. And no, those rare cats with opposable thumbs don't count.
>>5963045Listen buddy, I'll spray some webbing on your paws, it'll fix up that problem right quick. Like a bear's snout to honey, your daggers are gonna stick to your paws one way or another, we'll make it happen mister! Put some webbing on your tail and you'll be a regular Zoro in no time!

>>5963053Well I don’t really know your customs in relation to privacy, typically my people value privacy as much as company not to mention I know next to nothing about you other than your station and skill and small tidbits from discussions on our history and your people’s history
>>5963053>>5963045Eh, I'm half joking, half not. Personally I think you should make the animal character traits from the pdf mean something. Only Ursus should be able to wield a gun out of all of us because of his 'human-like' paws. I do think Kinny should eventually be able to dual wield though, whether that be via his tail or holding a second dagger between two of his paws or whatever. I also genuinely think we could essentially glue/tape a dagger to each of his front paws and his tail with spider webbing, so that he can quad-wield. I wanna see a cat beyblade! It'll be funny!"Like I said, sneaking around, bribing guard patrols to turn a blind eye to us, bribing politicians to vote not to sell out my nation to the guys we were just at war with not even a few years ago, shanking any secret police we come across, the usual. No really, we've got a lot to do, redundant safehouses in case this one gets burnt or one of us gets caught out in a bad location in the city and needs a place to lay low while they're separated from the rest of us, otherwise we could be hemmed in. Hiring members for our warband, spies to get eyes and ears on what the big wigs are planning, lieutenants and administrators to handle secondary squads, that sort of thing. There's also still our guns to recover. We've all gotta do this surreptitiously, real cloak and dagger like. If we get caught or seen even partially, that means laying low and working through proxies or Kinny. Like I said, lots of stuff to do." Mog explained patiently.Brushing himself down for spider, he remembered who they came down here for originally "Lets not forget Arsene's apprentice, we need to recover their body to be put to rest on the way back."
>>5963063I’ll go get the remains I’ll work with you mog with the funerary rights. (Qm what religion did the apprentice have) speaking of there is also all those old one remains that might also need to be put to rest

We should also log where we found them and where they were moved for history along with their belongings incase

>>5963097Well we mostly cleared out the spiders found one frozen solid biting into a pipe in the ceiling, and where the tunnel will eventually lead to
>>5963095"We do in fact have several spare rings, though as I recall, you have one already.">>5963097"Saw and killed the biggest, most disgusting spider of my life." Mog replied cheerily, happy to see a friendly face again."Is Arsene around? We've gotta let him know we found his apprentice and are ready to bury him. Also, we could really use a bath, we're covered in spider gunk."After the brief downtime/transition scenes, I'd like to resume my Long Rest and wake up during the night, since it was daytime when I started sleeping. I wanna go out sneaking with the party, do some of the things I mentioned earlier. Skulduggery and whatnot.

>>5963097Out of character, I do have an addition to >>5963103, I'd like to talk to Bobby and ask her to buy some stuff for me. A new shield, and if Ursus and I can't strip off parts of our platemail to end up with just breastplates to be able to get rid of our Disadvantage in Stealth, then I'd like her to buy some breastplates for us as well. Also a disguise and forgery kits, doesn't matter if we're not proficient, maybe she is, or she can buy a tutor for us. We'll pay her of course. Basically tools for sneaking out at night and doing sneaky shit. If possible I'd like to disguise ourselves as the night watch. Also, gonna have to go afk for 30-40 minutes, so brb.
>>5963117"Regular hot water will do just fine, thank you."Nice. Long way to level 5 though.I would've done this >>5963118 before we went to sleep, if that is okay. So that she'd be back by the time we wake up.
>>5963122Fair enough. I'll allow that. Anyone else want Bobby to buy anything?
>>5963131I’m pretty sure we are good on rations and equipment

>>5964340correction! I have posted
I will be late tomorrow. Doctur appointment because I'm an old man with back problems.
Might be working on Underpinning tomorrow. Not a hundred percent sure but I will try to post here tomorrow.
I should be here tomorrow, around this time, barring any unforeseen problems.
>>5967024So.... my partner decided it was a good fucking idea to cut the fucking wires underneath the building.... I am now currently using 5G (which I'm not even sure will range ban me) because the fucking internet is gone. So yeah. RIP session tomorrow and posdibly Thursday as well.
>>5967386HOLY SHIT
>>5967386Shit, sorry to hear that man. Why'd they cut the wires? For the underpinning? Seems like a pretty random thing to do. Was there a good reason for it and they just messed up somehow, or did they just randomly do something crazy/inexplicable?
>>5967450No clue. He probably thought the wires were useless.
>>5967472Huh, weird. Well, no worries. I hope it isn't too much trouble for you to get your internet up and running again. We'll be here next week or whenever you're ready. Just let us know when you can run again. Take care.
Update! The wifi is repaired! Our internet provider repaired all of the damages. Thank God! A bit late to do the session. Will try to arrive this Thursday.
>>5963118>Bobby is given her order to get the stuff Mog requested.>She then heads to Poco's bar.>Where she asks to clean the basement too.>Poco understands this and allows her to browse his secret shop.>There she ends up getting some things Mog asked for.>A shield>Breastplates>About 10 Disguise Kits>At least 5 Forgery Kits>As for the tutor, well she could not get one.>A bit too expensive on her part, hell she was lucky to get all she was getting a huge discount thanks to Poco.>Plus didn't seem like there was an expert on forging documents around here.>What she would give for an elephant or a rat to be here to help her.>Still worth it though.>Thanks to Poco's discount this went from 725 Gold, down to 400 Gold, which Bobby paid for.>She then quietly snuck back into the church.>Thankfully no one noticed her.>She of course waits for her group to wake up from their nap.

These waffles and pancakes are fucked!">Bobby hissed as she looked at the burnt food.>It's a miracle this church has not cut on fire yet from all the awful cooking today.>The smell of burnt food seems to summon Maggie from her quarters."What the hell is going on here?! Let me try cooking for you guys."Rolling Survival.Do I hear three cooking fails?![/spoilers]
>>5969540"Me? Forgery? Never." Kinny looked at the tabby cat with reproach. "I only made my deliveries take less time by signing various documents in other animals' names. Sometimes without their knowledge." He finished matter-of-factly. "Why, though? You need signed vouchers for the local wolfish beauty salon or something?">>5969537 Bibby, heh.>>5969543"Are the two of you preparing chemical weapons right now? I'm starting to get concerned these black pancakes aren't pancakes after all." Kinny pointed at the waffle that was currently transforming into a piece of coal with the help of the ever-growing flame.
>>5969546>Ursus immediately spatulas the waffle away from the fire.CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP!
>>5969543>Maggie is somehow able to make breakfast for everyone.>Making pancakes for everyone.>Due to the mishaps of failed cooking however it is only going to be pancakes due to the lack of eggs.>Still better than nothing.>She is easily able to make one to two flapjacks for everyone.>>5969547>>5969546"I didn't expect us to make a fucking fire!">Bobby hisses as she tries putting out the flame."FUCKING HELL! Why the fuck did this have to happen today?!">She then looks over to Kinny."Well it was worth asking. Thanks for the effort. Mind asking if someone else in tbe group knows how to forge documents? I got a fire and burnt pancakes to put out. Plus I assume everyone is hungry."
>>5969547"We could really use whatever was in those pipes right now. If this keeps going at this rate, we'll all suffocate down here." Kinny commented on the communal cooking effort while coughing lightly, but didn't seem truly concerned.>>5969549"Forging is such a heavy word, you know. What needs to be written? I might know a good *writing* feather or two..." Kinny smirked ever so slightly.Kinny might or might be able to forge something, although that wasn't really his job. Man's been either using legal documents, lying or avoiding any controls altogether. His response was mainly just an act. Regardless, I'm not sure what needs to be forged.>>5969543I feel like I've said this, but just in case: in browser you can press [Ctrl]+[S] to place spoiler tags automatically. >>5969552>>5969553"Might have to ask Mog about that. He's the one who wanted me to get the forging kit if anything. I'm not 100 percent sure what he's planning but I think it has something to do with the summit. Either that or with giving Maggie and that new human a legal animal name and documents to prove they exist.">The fire was then finally put out."Finally.">The cat said in relief.
>>5969556That’s a good idea Bobby we might want to get multiples of false ids if necessary to help
>>5969553"Don't worry Ursus, I once almost burned a house too. Indirectly, I was simply haggling a better price with the house owner who, unbeknownst to me, left something on the fire. Lest be said, my contract was a toast." Kinny almost got sad, recalling the lost opportunity. Given his tendency to neglect important things, the story was most likely true.>>5969556"Finally." The cat said in relief.>>5969556>>5967052Kinny beelined for Mog, as was becoming the tradition, stepping on the tar-black waffle on his way and energetically kicking the air in futile attempt to clean his paw, making him hobble uncertainly all the remaining way towards the wolf. "Mog, how many times do I have to tell you." The black cat started catsplaining as plopped his ass on the ground. "Blacksmiths are the ones who do the forging, we do the subtle recontextualization of information through nonverbal means of communication." He started scrubbing his foot with the front paw. "When you think about it a bit, that's really what it boils down to." Satisfied with the state of his hoof, Kinny stood up and kicked the air one last time, just in case.
>>5969561>>5969564>With the fire finally put out, everyone then gathered around the table and began to eat their breakfast."Excellent work cadet. I assumed you did a lot of kitchen duty when you were in the army, correct?">The Lt said and asked as she was eating her pancakes."Not really. Pancakes were just something my mom taught me how to cook.">Maggie explained.>Adler seemed to be enjoying this meal over the salty eggs from the last time they had breakfast.>Even adding in more syrup to the food everytime he took one bite off of one."This is even better than the berries that the Forest Guardians were feeding us.">Adler comments.>Ord and Potato were both just enjoying their breakfast and just eating it like it was from a fancy restaurant.>Caramel looked over her plate of pancakes.>Unsure of what to think of them.>She then looks over to Maggie."This is human food right?">The brown rabbit asks."Yeah.">Maggie responds.>Caramel continues to stare at her food.>She then finally takes a bite out of it.>Her eyes then widen up in surprise.>Caramel then digs into the food.>Enjoying each taste of the food she was chewing."THIS IS INCREDIBLE!! HUMAN COOKED FOOD IS AMAZING!!">Caramel shouts out."Ummm... thanks.">Maggie says as she watches Caramel enjoy her cooking.
>>5969564Ursus nibbled on a few of the burned pancakes trying to salvage some nutrition (Did you know that Kodiak bears get to 9ft tall as adults 5 ft when on all fours)
>>5969571Ursus smiles at their reaction and then his face took on a nostalgic look when he heard about Maggie’s past, I remember when I first learned how to make pancakes, it was quite early in the morning and my father was up while my mother was tending to her vegetable field, I had wondered in wondering what that smell was and I saw my dad stirring a whisk while pooling out pancakes on the stove he invited me to learn that early morning and we spent that time making both burned and ok pancakes, burned on my end of course.
>>5969564>Einstein then poked his head out."I think he is sleeping. Maybe we should go ahead and eat breakfast. Those pancakes do smell delicious.">The mouse then suggested.>>5969576"That's a nice story you have there Ursus.">Maggie says as she then sits down to eat her pancakes."Your father sounds like he was a chef."
>>5969571>>5969583>The cat ate Maggiecakes, but didn't have anything to say
>>5969583Not even close he was at best a soldier for the local militia appointed by the town I grew up in, I would eventually gain the inheritance of the farm property as my parents move on to the nest realm of existence wherever it takes them, he taught me how to fight and be regimented, how to defend people and when to step up to fight against wrongs, my mother taught me how to tend to the land, to reap and sow, I learned the wisdom of returning nutrients to the soil cycling the crops and keep the farm alive.
>>5969584>Einstein didn't eat as much pancake as the others...>Then again he was a mouse.>So he was full with what he ate."Mmm. Buttery and sweet. Never had pancakes before. Grandpa always mentioned they were like bread but very buttery. I'm glad to have tried some at least.">You both then wait for Mog to wake up.>Einstein decides to talk to try and pass the time."Hey Kinny.... what did you do before smuggling? Were you always a smuggler?">>5969586"Sounds like you had great parents who taught you everything you needed to know.">Maggie said.
>>5969589To be honest they meant the world to me they where the rock my life was supported on, they hired and asked for extended family and friends to smuggle knowledge and history to me the tip of the iceberg of the world’s history under the eyes of those who would burn it at any chance. How where your parents Maggie? I feel like I have been mostly dominant in the conversation please share if you’d like
>>5969589"I was selling nosy mice to cat buyers. For a good price, too" Kinny deflected the question.
Sorry for the late response. Cats made a mess and I had to clean it up.>>5969598"...... How much would I sell for?">>5969591"They were good people. They were always there for me and Benji. We would often go out in the park and go fishing together. I was never good at it mind you but I would always enjoy the boat ride whenever we do go. Mom would always watch a movie with Benji, whenever she was not teaching me how to cook. To be honest, I think she was expecting me to become a housewife more than a soldier. She was highly against me even being drafted in the army. I think the last thing my dad taught me to do was how to hold a hunting rifle and told me that would be essential when I was out in the field. Still I kind of wished I had one more chance to say goodbye to them before I froze. Can't even remember the last time I spoke to them. I remember meeting my aunt a lot over at the research center but that was about it."
>>5969608Ursus offers a hug, I’m certain your parents would be proud regardless of what happened in the past, you clearly are still kicking, persisting no matter the challenge and circumstances you face, besides I don’t know what a house wife details but you clearly are more a warrior than that, you chose this struggle, to defend your people, your family that is a noble goal so stand strong feel your emotions allow them to wash over you and remember the best memories of your family, your parents live on through you ursus pukes the full tip of his claw on Maggie’s chest indicating her heart and then taps her mind to indicate her memories. Like how I carry my own family in my heart and mind
>>5969616Pokes not pukes GOD DAMN AUTOCORRECT RUINING TBE MOMENT!!!!!
>>5969616>>5969618>Maggie then give the bear a hug."Thanks big guy.">She tells him.
>>5969619Any time you need reassurance just ask>Ursus tells her
Just waiting for Kinny and Mog to make responses.
>>5969608"...I'd let you haggle your price." Kinny replied unsure whether the mouse was oblivious to his dodge tactics or secretly making fun of him. After finishing his food, the cat moved his furry bum towards the lieutenant. "So what is your actual name? Surely you aren't called "Lieutenant"?
>>5969620"Thanks Ursus.">>5969625>The Lieutenant looks over to the cat.>She decides to give him gentle affectionate scratches behind his ear."Rodriguez. Jessica Rodriguez. I assume ranks mean nothing to you. May I ask for your actual name as well. I can't go around calling you cat.">She continues to affectionately give the cat some pets and scratches.
>>5969636Ursus gives nod and then finishes the ruined pancakes that he was making
>>5969636"My name's Kinny. You'll have to forgive me, but I don't use a surname for... security reasons. It's not healthy in my..." The cat then looked to Bobby and her fat potatoes. "...our line of work. Ranks are largely meaningless to me as well, because I tend to avoid those that have them." Kinny purred when Jessica scratched his head.
>>5969640"Well Kinny, you seem to be smarter than the cats back in my day. All cats would say to me back when I was spying as a cat would be all about food and how much they want to reproduce. Honestly it's kind of nice hearing a cat say more than that. Are more cats like you Kinny?">Jessica said to the cat.>>5969638>Arsene then approaches Ursus."Excuse me Mr Ursus. May I have a moment to speak with you?"
>>5969644"Oh, that's rough. No, the cats I grew up around are not at all like that. I'm sure you've seen that Bobby and her... right, Bobby isn't stupid. Ord and Potato are... curious." Kinny scratched his cheek as soon as he realized the fat cats were probably not far from what the woman just mentioned. "Well, they are a bit slow, but not feral like what you've described."Kinny might be retarded, because I am retarded, but he's not actually stupid. He's simply a cat. Just as I typed that my retard jumped on the bed.
>>5969644Certainly arseneExcuse me please>Ursus moves to follow arsene to a private area to speak as requested
>>5969649"Well I guess I'll keep an eye out for cats. Now if you don't mind. I'm going to take a vinegar bath myself. Heard you wanted to get rid of any human scent so I figured I might as well get that out of the way. See you Kinny.">With that Jessica then goes away from you Kinny.>>5969651>You enter Arsene's Office."Yes Ursus thank you for coming. I have a very urgent question to ask you. You see, I am very old. I fear that my time is short for this world and Mog will have to perform the very same burial ritual on me in a matter of days. But I cannot leave. Otherwise the teaching of the preistess Vitilia will be lost and no one will be here to guard the old ones that she and Swift entrusted me to take care of. So I was wondering, since your team trusts you the most if you can convince them all to stay in the church and keep the humans safe and teach them the truth of the Twin Goddesses? Ursus... will you help me?"
>>5969661That’s quite the ask, Ursus seriously contemplates, not to mention the fact that all our enemies are here and if they find that out it is very easy for them to come in and dismantle everything, on the other hand an entire enclave of humanity lives down here as well.>Ursus pads a bit aroundI can’t say no but I can’t really force them I’m not their leader but I also believe that protecting this place is a high priority anyway seeing as it’s also a possible way to extricate people out should the dragons come down on us. I’ll bring up your case but I also believe you should probably tell Jessica Rodriguez she apparently has experience with hiding among non human people so she might be able to blend in and act as a proxy or some form of inheritor she could be given one of the rings if she wants to.As for the humans there are other places where humanity still hold out judging by the map we have but I’m not certain how many still survive. Ursus sits and contemplates this situation
>>5969671"Thank you for listening to me Ursus.">Arsene said with the most sincere gratitude. So what do you all do now?
>>5969696Ursus gently holds her shoulder you carry a great burden on your shoulders, you share a might that my people admire and respect, you stare down an uncertainty that many would buckle under, may Igive you company as you pass on I don’t want you to be alone when it draws near.>Once Ursus receives her answer he will bring her request to the rest of the party attempting to persuade as well as he can
I'm here, sorry for being so late. The electrician phoned to reschedule at the last minute and came in the morning, so I had to move away from the computer.
>>5969729It's alright Mog.
>>5969730>>5969729Is there anything you want to do?>>5969649Asking the same for you as well Kinny.
>>5969736I think I'll be taking a break for tonight, might post later, but not sure.
>>5969741Fair enough Kinny. Cats do need rest and relaxation.
>>5969736>>5969671>>5969649"Achoo!" Mog sneezed.Rudely awoken, Mog scrambled around blindly in the damp cave. There was no dream, no comedic or surreal transition from Moon fantasies to real-space. Just one moment he was wading in mind-froth, the next he was awake with his lungs on fire. He ran out into the main room, his nose dribbling."Why does it smell like burning!?"
>>5969741Take care. Apologies for being late again. I think next session we'll be more in Kinny's element, since we're transitioning to skulduggery.
>>5969748>Maggie looked at the old wolf.>She then sighs and hands him his pancakes."Nothing is burning Mog. Trust me we took care of that long ago. In the meantime enjoy your breakfast.">Bobby then went towards Mog "Hey I got the stuff you wanted. At least most of it.">She then showed him the stuff he requested her to get."So... why did you need this stuff exactly?"
>>5969756"The smell lingers. I guess it'll air out eventually. Thanks for the flat bread." Mog tilted his head at her sigh.Settling down at the table to eat his breakfast, he almost worried himself into a daydream. Maggie said 'breakfast', hopefully she just meant the first waking meal. He had intended to sneak out during the night. Seeing Bobby approaching, he dismissed these thoughts.Looking over her bounty, Mog nodded approvingly. "Well, you've outdone yourself, or perhaps overdone yourself. That's a lot of stuff, clothes, scrap armour, dyes and makeup. We only really needed the one kit of each. Works for us either way though, just means we have more variety of tools to mix things up with. How much was all this? I'll reimburse you."The wolf fiddled with his coin purse to hand out the metal she'd spent."As for what we're doing...lots. Disguises for sneaking around easier, false flags too, once we have information. Forging incriminating documents for the various foreign delegates, potentially seals and travel documents for various parts of the city and country, depending on how locked down things are, the works." he took a breathe, raising a placating paw to indicate to her that the crazy stuff wouldn't come until later."Most the initial work will just be sneaking around curfew while disguised into various bars that cater towards different segments of the city. Administrators, bureaucrats, and diplomats hangouts to get the word on what specifically going on in the diplomatic sphere. The police and military sprawl for how serious the subversion of our protectors is. Finally, we'll be hiring that army I've been mentioning for a while now, fighters, more of your kind, mages, dissidents willing to work mobs, whoever we can find. We just need to get a feel for what is actually going on." another pause, this time to eat his food."We'll probably end up culling some number of secret police, or whoever is enforcing the new order and killing off the old guard. Not that I plan on going crazy and getting into an outnumbered fight in the middle of a city full of hostile folk or anything. I just assume our guise will slip once and awhile, we'll probably have to quietly dispatch any pursuers or spies before they get help. There's also Father Gawain, we'll probably want to snoop on him before meeting him properly out of disguise." he chewed thoughtfully while he mused on how to say this last bit.
>>5969756>>5969779"Finally, we ought to consider meeting the Queen in secret. If possible I'd like to align our plans with her, or persuade her if our agendas aren't compatible. I want to avoid betraying my country in the process of trying to save it. Just because the new way of things is obviously bad in some ways, doesn't mean the leader of our country is a bad person who is evil, stupid, or being led astray without affecting plans of her own. We need to know why she allowed me to be branded a heretic, and what her intentions for the summit and the country as a whole are. She might be genuinely getting good concessions out of the negotiations, I don't want to step on her toes too much if she is making plays that are really in the best interests of my country. In the worst case, if she is just stupid, being bribed, or innocently incompetent, or...if our views differ too much, then I guess we'll resort to bribing the assembly and astroturfing mass protests, incriminating the foreign diplomats, and violent revolution to make sure the other factions don't get their way. I hope it doesn't come to that, but that is what we are ultimately preparing for."
>>5969779>>5969782"Nah you don't have to reimburse me at all Mog. This is going to be something big. A big job is going to require a lot of animals being at seperate places in seperate times though. Honestly if you ask for my opinion this seems like a time where we split up and get multiple jobs done at once. But then again I have no idea who should go where. What do you think Mog?"
>>5969792"I insist, you paid out of your own pocket for this stuff, it's only fair. We're partners in crime. Besides, we've got literally thousands in platinum, even after splurging on that huge stockpile of weapons back in Plato. Forty or fifty plat for a friend isn't breaking the bank for us," Mog pressed, fair was fair, before joking, "Besides, who'll pay for your booze when you run outta gold and are down to picking coppers out of your fur?"Turning serious again, he said "I was considering splitting up myself, just to be efficient about this. We've gotta multiple rogues in the party, if each rogue covers for each of the bumblers, Ursus and I, then we could have stealth and strength in equal measure. Still, I'm not sure what the rush is, obviously we don't want to doddle, but maybe my memory is slipping and I'm forgetting if we ever found out the summit's actual date. I assumed it was gonna be a weeks long negotiation, if not more. We have so much to do, those bandit wolves, the forest fuckers, lots of loose ends. Do you think if Ursus and I doffed the noisy plate armour, that you could cover for our clumsiness?"I genuinely forgot if the summit's date was ever given. A quick ctrl+F didn't help turn up a date or time limit either. Was hoping we had a lot of time for this, since this is a pretty important arc.I don't think it is in the rules, but it is pretty common in some other TTRPGs or even just as houserules for rogues to be able to 'lead' stealth scenarios, essentially letting other characters copy their motions or have mistakes covered up by the action leader, essentially just letting the PC in question roll stealth and not have every single party member roll. Would something like that be possible here? Having Kinny/Bobby roll for the group, maybe with assistance from the other cats to lead us through the streets without trouble and having to deal with Ursus and I's terrible stealth scores? It is pretty much what I'm asking IC.
Sorry for the late response cooking dinner.>>5969823"I heard from Poco that the summit begins in about four days. Which means we only have at least two days before registration closes. I think the leader of the Cottontail already went to register himself to be heard out. So I suggest we have Ursus register for us maybe. Leaving you, Kinny, and I for infiltration on this priest who is giving you a bad name and maybe spy on our enemies. Honestly I think Kinny is much better for infiltrating the enemy. He's got good stealth and ears. That's just the opinion of a drunken bobtail though. I'm willing to hear your plan on how we should split up."I'll allow stealth lead yes.
>>5969839Well if you’re going to register me I hope you have the critical points I need to discuss ready I’m not particularly good at talking to people so having key information and topic points you want discussed would definitely be critical
>>5969839"That's worryingly little time. We ought to spend tonight gathering information and recruiting followers then. On everyone, the situation in general, each capital F faction and their plans and agents, the bandit wolves, the forest guardians, the Queen and various political parties, any major power brokers or criminal factions, al
