Last time, in 40k Minor Xenos Quest: A Struggle To Survive Redux :
A Dominant Matriarch had evolved a mutation on an homeotic gene leading to bipedism - this gene happens to be ported on sexual chromosomes, making all female descending from this first bipedal female bipedal themself.
It's been two generations, and a handful females are porting the new mutation.

By the mechanics of egg-sharing, those females are found all around the crack as well as adjacent frozen peaks. (You) are one such matriarch.
Right now, you are lonely : far from the aesthetical favored criterion of the rest of the race, you were rejected as a malformed youngling.
This is only a setback, as (You) are the dominant. Your bipedal position let your Ichor reach your brain more easily. Ear farther. Exact more strength with your now-free, dexterous limbs.
(You) are the inevitable future of the Under Hunter. But, for now, your tribe is a mere dream in the head of a lonely Under Hunter.

>Evolution phasis consequence number 2 : The ecosystem is well enough to support a lone Under Hunter anywhere on the map. However, some place are better adjusted for the thrive of a large number of Under Hunters.

Claim a nametag and a trip.
Chose an hexagonal spot repreasenting your Under Hunter territory. It has to be on the Crack or the Frozen peaks, by editing the map to show your start location.
You can't pick an hexagon adjacent to another player's.
In addition, describe your Matriarch fur color, and roll 1d100 for your Matriarch psychic ability :

1 : You are a Dabbling Blank.
2-10 : You are a Minor Blank.
11-12 : Sucks to suck; no Psyker ability for your Matriarch.
13-33 : Minor Psyker.
34-37 : Dabbling Psyker.
38-99 : Adequate Psyker.
100 : Your starting Psyker branch is not Cryomancy.

For you three, let's get things started.
All your three tribes suffer from one main issue: they're one-hunter tribes. You'll need to grow in number. Once again, food and security are not issues.

GrassGreen:
The green matriarch stalks other packs and waits for key opportunities to challenge their matriarch to a ritual match of dominance.
Her favored strategy : challenging after the opposing matriarch has already exhausted herself in a different conflict. Underhanded and unscrupulous to be sure - and seen as such, but effective.
This behavior shows that the GrassGreen matriarch is Tactical, a behavior that will be teached to its offspring (+10 on Fight roll when you can master the engagement)

GhostClaw:
The GhostClaw matriarch of azure and white, ambushes in the snow and ice another matriarch at night right before it needs to sleep, once it wins the match it will gain their mates and take the pack eggs.
This goes around all the societal rules of the Under Hunter packs. Many males refuse to follow someone that betray the societal codes so much. Still, the strategy remained successful.
Assassin - +15 on Ambush rolls

BurningGrass:
The BurningGrass matriarch proudly intrudes on the territory of neighbouring packs and makes challenges to the matriarchs. upon victory, she then poaches with the strongest (and usually largest) male
The success of this matriarch can be explained by a simple matter of fact : its sheer Strength (+5 on all relevant rolls). Under Hunter are already a mighty species. BurningGrass matriarch and successor even more than the other genelines.

IceyOne:
A matriach of clear fur, with several icycles carefully groomed as ornaments, lets out loud mournful mating cries hoping to attract males she can choose from.
This works quite well - even convincing some males to leave a pack to join her own. This is because of a well-developed vocal pouch, making her quite the Orator (+5 on all relevent Charisma rolls.)

Jupiter :
The Jupiter Matriarch acquires reproduction through deception. Lurking at the edge of pack, stealing eggs and gobbling dying males spit testicles, a vagrant pack is forming.
This is one of the first display of Deception (+10 on stealth rolls.)

BadBack :
The Badback Matriarch Carefully prepares spots to lure in other Underhunters to subjugate in ritual combat where things are stacked in her favor.
She takes strongest male of other tribe and gives a randomly chosen male of her own tribe as replacement - leading her tribe to get quite strong and respected among the packs of unmuted hunters.
This is the foundation of being an abled Merchant (+10 on Trade rolls).

>Special event for Jupiter player
As a Blank, your mere presence is threatening to light moss - letting the rare patch around you combust easily. This shut down light which the Ivy feed of in the cracks and rifts. For now, your impact is minimal, but it might be a long-term issue.
>>
A 100 days passed, and all your tribe count 10 males, as well as growing younglings - including several daughters which you teach your ways.
The ecosystem is well enough to sustain all of your pack-size tribes - even if Jupiter situation is more strained.
>How do you want to develop your tribe?
>>
>>5921304
Take a party of the strongest and climb the southern wall, and take a vantage point looking into the crack, watching and waiting for an opportunity to yoink eggos or otherwise acquire easy prey
>>
>>5921304
Develop barter system within tribe to exchange favors for foodstuffs or services
>>
>>5921304
The GhostClaw matriarch decides to create a nest for the tribe in a remote shadowy cavern in one of the mountains. The nest will have furs and plants pieces left from the hunts and foraging, inside creating a warm spot for sleeping together and keeping the eggs warmer.
Outside of the entrance it self the tribe will place and create much snow and ice making it even more difficult to spot it, while creating holes through it for the tribe to pass through and begin their ambushes at night be for food or gain more eggs and mates.
>>
>>5921302
The green matriarch develops a strategy of intentionally triggering rockfalls among the mountains to throw prey into a state of confusion before an ambush.
>>
>>5921302
Seeing that someone has been stealing male genetic material and even EGGS from the packs south of her territory fills the matriarch with righteous furry. She approaches those packs and makes them an offer. In exchange for a continual flow of food, the Burning Grass Tribe will use their superior strength to protect the eggs and younglings of their clients.
>>
>>5921758
I'll have to reject that one.
You're too far away for now :
From thread one, about the crack :
>20 million square terran kilometers. Upon an average depth of roughly 20 terran kilometers
Each hexagon is 500 km big. For now, you won't interract with packs remotely close - a typical pack will roam in such a zone, but you're a bit too far to hear about this kind of matter.
>>
>>5921302
Then we'll start clearing the four beak population from my territory by aiming for the juveniles
>>
>>5921302
>The IceyOne trains her daughters in how to do mating cries as well, and starts to do choir-like harmonizations with her daughters, to make the mating cries even more enticing and enthralling. Hoping to lure more than just her own kind to the claws of her tribe.
>>
>>5921322
Allright, I'll take 1d100 each. DC is Meet it to beat it, higher is better.

>Jupiter, you are Exploring. You benefit from the species trait "Exploration" granting you +10
Being wildly adapted to the verticality, but getting out of The Crack is far from trivial, you'll have to beat a DC of 70 to find a way to the top of the Ice Wall.

>BadBack, you are developping a cultural research : Barter System
DC for simple research or Culture is 40, you get +10 for that roll.

>Ghostclaw, you are developping Nests.
DC for simple research or Culture is 40.

>GrassGreen, you are developping Trapmaking[rock fall]
DC for simple research or Culture is 40.

BurningGrass, you are Hunting.
You benefit from your +5 from strength, and +10 from targetting younglings.
Your result will be on a sliding scale.

IceyOne, you are doing a Cultural Research : Mating choir
DC is 40, benefitting from your Orator skill.

>IceyOne :
Your Matriarch is working on her voice, teaching to her daughters and attempting to merge several voice in a greater whole.
However, efforts made to create a choir are not paying yet. Still, progress is made toward this research.

>GhostClaw :
The Ghostclaw tribe took time to look for caves to use as places to spend the night more warmly.
To improve the comfort, the nest is lined with Fire Fern dried foliage - which turned out are also great insulator

>BadBack :
The Badback tribe communication now include a Barter system.
What could have been a simple exchange of favors for foodstuffs or services turns out to be a powerful motivator for this tribe's member.
This enable your tribe to work on a project without immediate usefulness - if your Matriarch have enough personal wealth to pay the tribe members.

>Jupiter :
The Jupiter tribe strongest member set themself the goal to climb the icey rim of the crack.
What could have been really hard, even accounting the Warp Travel of the species, should have been almost impossible for the Blank-led tribe.
However, Blank-led doesn't mean blank-only : some males of the tribe are psykers. In addition, a quirk of geology turns this particular wall as one of the best place of the Crack for easy access out.
Over the next hundred day, a new way out of the crack is ice-carved and passable for UnderHunterkind.
A new world open for the Jupiter tribe. Out of the Crack, you can see the brown of far-away peaks. But the landscape offering to your sight is a white sea, with erratic motion of walls of snow.
However, the Under Hunter is poorly, poorly equipped for navigating an horizontal, snowy terrain. Bipedism improves a bit the capacities of said Under Hunter to walk in snow, but this remains tiresome.
At the very least, your tribe got mastery of the high ground on this section of the crack. For now, this is more than enough for your tribe to fill its belly.

>GrassGreen
The GrassGreen tribe doubled down on its cunning. The tribe was chasing Lunar Dahu, but a youngling accidentally collapsed an unstable pill of rocks.
One of the rock knocked out a Dahu, giving the Matriarch the idea to reproduce this lucky encounter.
Among the hunting grounds of the Grassgreen tribe, the gestalt mind can see strange cairns. Built for creating ambushes or diversion, this development turns the GrassGreen tribe in incredibly good hunters.
>>
>BurningGrass
The BurningGrass tribe engaged into a systematic hunt of the nearby Apex, the Fourbeaks. They prove incredibly good at locating and targeting the younglings of the mighty armored mollusk.
>Over 100 result, with a small tribe size : you won't eradicate them on your zone, but...
In the process, the BurningGrass Matriarch observed a lot of behavior in the Fourbeaks, knowing them better. You acquired Knowledge[fourbeaks], granting you +3 on the interactions involving them.

However, as the matriarch is already among the good Psyker of the species, this genetic trade offered little improvement, and the less-than-favorable trades decreased the tribe size.

>CerulanandLilac
The tribe shape with their cryomancy ice nest for themselves.

With source material present, can mount a half-sphere able to withstand the climate's riguours. The usual strategy is to close the dome around a patch of moss, providing lightning.
As Ice, your favored resource is amply present so far North even in the depth of The Crack, your tribe can alleviate the harsh cold of the long nights. Those nests are temporary by nature, but can easily be set up.

The Whitemane tribe wishes to increase its size, but for that it must find a safe space. The Matriarch will attempt to create domes of frost around Stove Groves. If the ice starts to melt, the dome will be made larger, so the walls are further away from the Grove's heat. Once it seems stable, the insulated dome shall be used as a nest.
>>
>>5924994

>temporary by nature

>>5925023
I can accept that - but I'll appreciate if you chose a different shape for your favored nest for better cultural diversity in the long run.
>>
>>5925148
I chose Domes because they are simple shape. If its about being unique we could make the ice structures like this: a basic shape around the Stove Grove, like a square/triangle/circle/star made out by raising a solid wall of icicles, like a palisade. Just bellow the tip of the icicle wall, perpendicular, you make more ice in the same shape, until you fill the space above it, like a roof made out of "planks". You climb onto the new ice platform and you repeat the process to build more floors/levels. You leave a hole in the middle so the heat from the Grove can reach the upper levels.
BAM! Ice Pyramid/Ziggurat Nests!
They are easier to spot from a distance as well.
>>
>>5925219
I'll lock the Star Ziggurath - for now it will be two level high only, and semi-permanent as melting from the inner heat.

2nd turn Update!

The Badback matriarch worked on forming trails in the crack, with indication of safer places and resting places indicated with territory marker.
Of course, their psychic powers help. The matriarch tells her strongest daughters about the long-term goal : their tribe build for their sake and convenience, but also for the other - against fair retribution.
However, due to a lack of disposable funds, the matriarch couldn't bribe the tribe to work extremely hard on the infrastructure.
Plus, most of the packs walk the constructed path without paying anything as the tribe is too small, too mobile to effectively control the territory. Still, the goal of bartering with other is integrated in the cultural landscape of the tribe.

The BurningGrass matriarch use the end of her reign to grow the tribe size by integrating the best elements of the various packs around.
This worked well - maybe a bit too much. The tribe is almost one and a half time bigger than the bigger pack that the crack could naturally sustain - meaning hunger is omnipresent and starvation is near as the preys presence is not dense enough to sustain such a big tribe.
In any other bloodline, the solution will simply be splitting the pack in two. But a quirk of biology makes this idea unbearable for the bipedal Under Hunters.
This same quirk of biology is the reason Under Hunter tribes will need to adapt or perish.

The Jupiter pack will establish a home in the cracks and crevasses of this climbable area, in a resource-rich territory that is roamed.
This works well. The vertical mobility of the species is completely adapted to the terrain, which is getting tuned to their needs.
>1
That is, until the egg-spoiled pack comes back to attack. Retribution for not respecting the ritual rules, the local pack banded together and assaulted the Pongo-looking tribe.
Blood is shed, the tribe can't even mourn the victims - including the matriarch as it is pushed in the frozen plains, away from the Crack.

Meanwhile, the farthest away tribe of the GhostClaw made an incredible breakthrough : they discover how to break rocks for accomplishing functions.
Rounder rocks for Bludgeoning, oblong rocks sharpened into Piercing points, flat rocks faceted into edges.
Moreover, this discovery turns into practical aspect, as the Ice Shard spell, synergized with the Shape Ice one, turns the projectile into ice blades, boulder or points.
In turn, the youth of the tribe instantly internalize the desired shape of rocks, helping the transmission of the rock-carving technique.
>>
The GrassGreen Matriarch pursues an agenda of creating simple trails and way markers, to identify good hunting grounds, safe hiding spots and the way home.
>4
This backfires : the territory of the tribe is an historical territory of migration from packs going in and out of The Crack.
Other packs use the trails (degrading them), unintentionally stealing preys or triggering the traps. This led to aggression and minor bloodshed, with 3 death on your side before the situation is sorted out.
Trails end up degraded, tribe a few member shorter, but no more bad consequences for now.

The IceyOne Matriarch keeps on singing with her daughters in their off time.
Upon a life spent on her craft, the tribe created a few multi-voiced songs, desirable to males that sometime abandon their pack to follow your tribe.
>98 : Songs Harmonization - Passive male poaching by seducing them each turn (1d3 rolled behind the screen by yours truly for now.)
This lead your tribe inching closer to its current sustainability limit.

The Cerulean ans Lilac tribe started to sculpt the walls of their Ice nest with important events : healthy children born and successful hunts are typical scenes depicted for now.
In addition, the tribe use live Grass Moss, plucked from the middle patch, to give the Psyker Shine of spells for the few hours where the nest is occupied.
Sadly, this primitive art of Artistical Ice Carving disappear with the nests.

While some are kicked out of their home, other busy decorating, some are making unseen structure.
The Whitemane tribe establish a few temporary nests around stove-groves, by creating a walled-star shape mounted by a smaller, opened star, benefitting from a nice heat coming by the miracle tree.
Of course those nest melt quite fast, especially so far south, but Under Hunter sleep better and more comfortably.

A year have passed : 400 days have come and go, your matriarch are getting old and reached menopauses - except the Jupiter's one, which have been replaced because of fatality.
They still advise the tribe, but younger blood will replace them for leading.
>Very short life expectancy : you can't pick the same action (or even something I'll judge too close) on incoming turn as the new packleader will have different priority

We know where the Lunar Dahu gather, we sleep right on top of them! We can let them get close to the nest, and thus to the Grove, and ambush them from the second floor. Dahu are quite tough and dangerous with their back plate and fire rectums. Surely, wild Under Hunters will be impressed by our efficiency and wish to join us.

But there is something she wants, lately she has found herself mourning the loss of a youngling. Many died during her long life be pack members, mates, other younglings, eggs, but she changed. She can't just mourn them anymore. She can't leave it, she doesn't want to separate it self from her cub, so she brought back the body to the tribe nest. But what now ? She decides to create a space for his little corpse in an unused portion of the cave, that the matriarch clears it from rocks and ice alike. Then she digs and digs, creating a square hole. In the hole she places cut rocks at all sides, then in the center she places the corpse of her cup enveloping it in ice. After that she places more cut rocks on top and some of the ground she had dig. When the work is done on the rocks that are seen above, the matriarch begins to leave small leaves of fire ferns and skulls of holey moleys, the favorite of her cub. Other of the tribe watch this petrified has they never thought of doing this at all for the ones they mourned. I tend to forget we are already a spacefaring specie technically. Since we can travel between dimensions at will. No wonder our territory is so big despite the fact we are only 14-34 individuals per tribe, distance is not really a problem for us. This ability will get far more dangerous to use once the Chaos Gods finish coalescing and The Prince arrives. We need to put a big focus on discipline and mental strength in a couple thousand years
>>
>>5927552
Indeed, its kind of a problem while also very useful. Mostly because if we didn't have certain racial traits it would make the Under Hunters ungovernable, unorganizable and incapable of forming civilizations (since individuals/small groups could just leave and go far away). They need energy for use it, its not infinite uses so distance is still a problem especially if you cannot decide where to go and you lose yourself.

>in a couple thousand years
At the moment we are different tribes that are developing their regions with their cultures, tech and pop, nothing stop from us from doing it in this age or the civilization one really. Inevitably our cultures will spread and soon there will be smaller less important NPC tribes running around too, and much like our cultures our techs will also spread around likely. I had in mind to do something similar and maybe a primitive faith.

>BurningGrass : Extortion
The new matriarch seeing the starvation comes to a simple conclusion. With her larger tribe comes a need for a larger territory.
In particular, she needs more hunter - that don't directly need to be related to her by blood. Using their superior strength the packs around her territory becomes auxiliaries.
The weaker packs have no more choice than comply. Smaller packs leaving on the edge of the territory will keep food ready to let the BurningGrass pack indulge in eating them.
This lead to an Increase in maximum sustainable tribe size for the first species exploiting their brethen in the short history of this planet.

>Prideful : Growing tribe
Tempting wild pack members with better lodging and quality food easily huntable, the new matriarch spend the first half of her life to integrate new members to her tribe, reinorcing their low numbers.
Situation is less dire than it used to be, with the tribe growing to the comfortable size of 24 members.

>Icey : Battle-scream
The Icey matriarch worked on a new cry.
Her tribe member can now start engagement with an Ichor-thickening shrill cry, which grant a small +1 bonus to fighting rolls against any being able to hear it.
This cry is painfully mundane and not Psyker empowered.
In addition, the harmonized songs of the tribe keep luring males, letting the tribe grow slightly.

>CerulanandLilac :
Using their mastery of ice, a new cunning array of traps appear in the arsenal of hunterkind.
Mirrorwalls, pits with a thin ice ceiling, and preparing unstable stalactite proves as many valuable strategies to help the tribe's hunt.
The tribe can now develop Elaborated Traps.

>BadBack : Melee Weapon (ice-crafted)
The Badback tribe smartly applied their Shape Ice psyker power to extend their claws and nose horn for hunts and conflicts with Fourbeaks, improving their lethality.
>Unlocked Military research : Ice Weapons (+2)

>24
From that day the rest of the tribe completely forget about it, and when the matriarch dies she's just left to feed the crawlers rot as any other Under Hunter.

>GrassGreen : Research nests
The GrassGreen started resting in more permanent places, creating nests similar to those of the GhostClaw clan.
However, a massive distinction comes from the paths and trails exploited by migrant packs, resulting in the tribe walking to one of its several nest and find it squatted.

A/N : didn't have any juice to draw for this update.

You will have to do with that sad plain block of text tonight.

>The start of nobility.

The matriarch is pleased that the risk of starvation has been averted but knows her situation is perilous. after all, if she pushes too hard those packs may leave and her tribe would be back to square one. So, the matriarch comes to a simple solution. She will bind these packs to her with blood.

She offers the matriarchs of packs that bring the most food a chance to mate with some of the tribes' stronger males (keeping the strongest for her tribe). The Matriarch knows that the offspring of these unions will eventually come to rule these packs.
>>
>>5927948
It is time! We hunt Dahu yet they still come to our Nests, to our Groves. They depend too much on the fruit. There is an opportunity! We Shall gather fruits from the Stove Grove (using Shape Ice to make a handle around a rock to use it as a plate to move the hot fruit). The herbivore is flighty, so to persuade it, we must make sure it can't flee. We will corner a Dahu, place some fruits on the ground and back away, slowly. We should try to mark the Dahu somehow, graze it. Once we run out of food, we let it wonder, and catch it again later. It may take days, but the Matriarch is confident. If the Dahu no longer fear us, if they can be persuaded to sleep in the nest, like how Under Hunter can, then tribe will grow!
>>
>>5927948
The brazen theft of nesting spaces outrages the matriarch. The tribe turns its trap making talents to securing their other nests, marking their homes with the skulls of the fallen as a warning. Once the nests are secured only then will revenge become a priority.
>>
>>5927948
Capitalizing on their improved melee weapons the Matriarch decides to subjugate surrounding tribes for a tribute of food. in return she will provide protection against Four Beaks and invaders seeking to take other tribes hunting and grazing grounds.
>>
>>5927948
>Ghost Claw Tribe Advancement so far : Assassins-like tribe prefer night opportunism over natural matriarch ritual duels and natural hunts, cave nest, using rocks/shaping rocks (Rounder rocks for Bludgeoning, oblong rocks sharpened into Piercing points, flat rocks faceted into edges) + synergized with Shape Ice, turns the projectile into ice blades, boulder or points.

Development : Observation
The new matriarch of the Ghost Claw has learned a new thing after a failed hunt. Waiting is already essential for how the Ghost Claw Tribe hunts and kills, but what if we wait before and look around. For the land, for our preys, our foes and so on. Before an hunt, before a kill. Wait and look, for learn and adapt better. So that the hunt and kill might be even better.

Or it's a chance for you to get your own Huntisition. Anyway, it's one reason I wanted to give several individual voices for this phasis. More interresting and organic in my opinion.

Rolled 73 (1d100)

>>5930291
roll well

>>5930923
Maybe have him dispersed instead of extinction ? And the possibility to create a new tribe from one of the small pieces. With less experiences and the like. Otherwise, this part will not last much at all if more tribes suffer similar shit rolls, and i think its in the interest of everyone to get at the last stage minimum. I am playing for that at least.

One tribe getting chaos'd earlier would be difficult if not more likely impossible to deal with in the long run, since is also an entire region that would become chaosfied and develop a chaos civilization. It would be also meta for us to deal with it early one, and our tribes wouldn't have develop any kind of underhunter totem or underhunter tribal deity/deities and so on for at least some counters to chaos... while the chaos gods are already all fleshed out and all filled with spells, gifts and the like.
Ultimately its a choice of Jupiter, but in comparison all the other tribes are at major disadvantage, because they have nothing for deal with it. Chaos is stupidly powerful even when weak.

>>5930926
They will hate us regardlessly, but even if this is a major negative is just one player tribe. We have multiple other tribes still and much more regions, at the very least that's our benefit in this. Small really.

>>5930927
>Huntisition
Our tribes could make some spec hunters, shamans, totems at this point not really inquisition. It would be a basic start for counter chaos, and not much else. Not enough to win against it, slow it perhaps and ensure there is enough development for the future for deal with it next.

One reason i wanted the tombs was for build up my culture for get to faith. Since death and tombs, naturally lead towards making questions of that kind.
>>
>>5930937
Yeah I wanted to maybe try a Star Faith, but you can’t pray if you are starving. I wanted agriculture and animal husbandry first, so that Under Hunters have time to think about their self
Depending on which god they follow, if they do follow one, it would give us a time limit to figure out a way to spin this into a good PR campaign with the Imperium.
If I can make Star worship popular enough, since we travel between dimensions, we could maybe adopt the Astronomican as The Brightest Star
>>
>>5930953
We are tribes being half starved and with not much is kind of our deal, totems/spiritual beliefs are possible here.
I'll be honest the "good PR campaign", i don't see it working and the astronomican being the brightest start feels a bit too off grid. Diplomacy with the great crusade imperium feels not smart at all, the Under Hunters are aliens not built for that, and this quest is made for the specific of reaching the great crusade that our aliens need to survive.

The psyker heart doesn't allow to travel time, but teleport us around. Doesn't mean we find the astronomican or anything like that.
In regard to faith i will be going for something else too, i think other tribes should do too. It is much better that way. Develops more our cultures.
>>
>>5930923
Didn't even think this was an option, being blanks.
But yes, 100%. Give me power beyond power!!
>>
>>5931019
I think you have to choose one of the three.
>>
>>5930999
yes. it was just a possible idea. I did forget there's no Astronomican yet, forgot the Shaman King is undercover. Indeed, we can run, we can fight them off, we can hide, but we can't pacify them, it is not our Fate, nor is it in the interest of any of the big players.
>>
>>5931019
Can I interest you in a malal in these trying times
>>
>>5931151
having a cult of Malal would be something. Dead quiet, pitch black Hunters, their presence causing that blank-like anxiety and pressure, but with a distinctly alien, otherworldly air
>>
>>5931151
>malal
Well, I WOULD prefer one of the proto-three.
>>
>>5931160
Malal by preference, the lore is scarce so you can make up whatever works.
Khorne if not.
>>
>>5931822
honestly was leaning toward The Changer of Ways with your Deception trait.
However, Mork could fit too.
>>
>>5931859
tzeentch would fit quite well.
Khorne would not really give attention to a tribe with deception, one with strength would be in his sights if they allow themselves to be corrupted. Unless they do the equivalent of a mass massacre, a malevolent first catalyst for put his eyes on them.

Though he must have mixed feelings on them, because Under Hunters are in general very strong but also mostly all psykers. The other chaos gods probably all like the mixed package, just makes them more dangerous.

>Badback : 33+10(Merchant)+2(Weapons) - 45 : Success!
The Badback tribe now sell their service to nearby packs - essentially to hunt Fourbeaks.
>Cultural research achieved : men at arms.
Synergize with Barter as a way to passively get food. It result of an increase of tribe capacity.
However, mercenary is a dangerous job - Your number decrease, divide by half.

>GrassGreen : Reconquista - 33 +10 (mastered engagement) - 43 : Success!
You eliminated most packs thinking your nests where free real estate, and let skulls as well as pelvis plates as warnings.
However, fighting quadrupedal packs, even made of inferior Under Hunters, is a dangerous job - Your number also decrease.

>Cerulean : Bonecraft - 15
A blue and purple Under Hunter accidentally smashes a bone against a rock. The mineral structure now have a point and an edge. The Hunter investigates it curiously.
But a prey just come in ear range. The Hunter drops the bone and the subsequent ideas of marquetry.
Pretty sure it's the right english word. Check this https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabletterie_gallo-romaine

>BurningGrass : Noble bloodline
The previous "Extortion" research grant you the +5 bonus, letting you reach the 40 threshold - Success!
The extorted tribe's leader is impregnated or replaced by one of your own.
Of course, member of the tribe itself are higher in the pecking order. Still, this strategy effectively vassalize tribes, spreading your genes and bipedism among the local packs.
>Created 3 vassal packs (8-14 sized), lead by a Bipedal daughter of yours.
This vassal don't directly count in your tribe number. Still, they keep providing meat for you, and start asserting dominance on other quadrupedal packs.

>Whitemane : Taming
Trapped and acclimated enough for the tribe to have a good amount of cattle.
Lunar Dahu find easily Stove groves to graze. However, they have to move frequently.
Older Dahus are eaten. Dahu stumbled upon are reassured by their fellows presence, and are added to the tribe's cattle.
This led to a decentralization of the tribe. The Zigguraths act as hubs, with a handful of Hunter leading a handful of Dahus from grove to grove, mounting more Zigguraths as needed.
The tribe is decentralized, but still united upon meeting while herding the Dahus.
>Animal Husbandry subject :
However, birthes are rare among Lunar Dahu. They don't spit testicles upon death, so the obvious application of Under Hunter's known biology doesn't help in the matter.
This subject will require further investigation.

>GhostClaw : Observation
>Success!
Your tribe developped a new behavior, based on observing and inferring before taking action.
This will most certainly let the tribe find, and exploit, various opportunities in the future.
>Observant - +2 when applicable!
>>
>Jupiter :
The Jupiter tribe is no more. A single, injured Matriarch is slowly dying in the frozen wall of the Crack.
Her anemic Ichor let the neural structure responsible for her peculiar Blankness to temporary fizzle away.
"Most interesting. I have great plans for you..."
Before you now it, your way is changed.
Benefits :
>Can turn out Blankness enough for Warp Travel.
>Superior Intellect : +5 in all smart-test rolls
A surplus of vigor let you hunt this day. Recover. Try again.
Your keener mind let you take down the pack that maimed you and stole the life of your mates and daughters.
Gobbling on their freshly slayed testicles, stealing their eggs, you build back the tribe's number.
"Very good. Now, here are your orders..."
>God Mandate 1 : Conquer this hex territory and build, more than a settlement, a permanent City
>God Mandate 2 : Meet another tribe

From now on, you'll have to defend how each of your action acts toward one of your God's mandate.

>Random event :
Due to a quirk of the moons, this winter started early and is colder than usual. This result on increased competition : Predators will assault each tribe that haven't fought them (BadBack and BurningGrass are immune to this) at the end of this turn.

>Any lurker can 'steal' IceyOne spot. IceyOne, if you're still around claim back your spot

>How should your tribes evolve?
>>
>>5931940
All hail the great bananas in the sky
>>
>>5931941
The tribe has grown. Dahu and Hunter. Prey and Predator. Bound by the Grove. But Hunter is not Dahu. Dahu must graze, move from tree to tree. They are flighty. Hunter is smart. Hunter has ice and stone. The Matriarch wishes to make Dahu like Hunter. To do that the Dahu must be less flighty. We are bound by the Grove. We know, vaguely, the Grove spreads. It spits testicles into the snow like Hunter. We will cut out the fruit and spread it ourselves. We don’t know if the Grove is so spread out because Dahu eat Testicles or because it has to be or both trees starve. We will try anyway. We will bury the testicle into the snow. Into the ground. If there are Dahu nearby we will push them away, to already existing Grove, leave the testicle alone. The Matriarch doesn’t know when testicle hatches into Stone Grove. But one day, this will unite the Whitemane and the Dahu, permanently
>>
>>5931941
So Jupiter, now Changed. Has crawled back to 17 members? Or is this chart slightly outdated?
>>
>>5931976
Chart up to date.
Reduced to 1; lucked in the external roll.
Same for GrassGreen and BadBack : the progress they made was at the cost of random rolls of death. Somehow rng put them at round numbers.
>>
>>5931941
>put a bigger emphasis on recruiting the strongest males from other tribes to strengthen the own bloodline and recover from the losses.

Tell of the Glory and strength of your tribe to convince young strong hunters to come and join in hopes of mating with those of such a strong bloodline and reap the spoils that such a life can grant.
>>
>oral history: the older male of the tribe are tasked to remember and teach the history of the tribe
>>
>>5931941

The GrassGreen matriarch is pleased with their assertion of dominance, but now is a time to heal and rest. The regeneration of the Underhunter is a powerful tool, but it means nothing to sudden and terrible injuries that kill too quickly for the body to heal. So the Matriarch ponders the earliest concepts of wound management, binding injuries to keep precious ichor in the body, forcing moss to burst into flame to cauterize bleeding gouges.
>>
>>5931941
interesting, uhm i might need to do later those tombs regardless lol.

>Ghost Claw Tribe Advancement so far : Assassins-like tribe prefer night opportunism over natural matriarch ritual duels and natural hunts, cave nest, using rocks/shaping rocks (Rounder rocks for Bludgeoning, oblong rocks sharpened into Piercing points, flat rocks faceted into edges) + synergized with Shape Ice, turns the projectile into ice blades, boulder or points, Observation behavior

>Development : Subjugation
The second matriarch of the Ghost Claw tribe, now see its the time for the tribe to expand further. She shall defeat and put down on their knees, all the matriarchs of the nearby packs to the tribe. Them and their packs shall be watched and then ambushed one by one and defeated at their weakest moments, until they understand the Ghost Claw tribe and her are their superiors. They shall submit to her authority and command, and shall provide in eggs, mates, food and support when asked for.
>>
>>5932011
nice, giving the Males something to do.
>>
>>5931941
>Nursery Keeps

The matriarch sees the increase in predator's attacking and is suddenly grateful for her mothers wise decision to cull the four-beak population. Reducing the impact of the harsh winter on the packs and tribes in her territory. But the increased competition means that hunters have to range further and further to bring food back to the tribe, Meaning that less members are protecting the eggs and younglings. Seeing this as unacceptable she begins using the Psyker abilities that come naturally to the tribe to fortify the nest. Shaping Ice to create strong and thick walls to deter anything that would think to risk the future of the tribe.
>>
>>5931941
Adopt nomadic ways, taking the entire tribe wandering through the crack to meet other cultures and learn their skills and ways. If questioned, we will make promises of future dedications.
>>
>>5932277
would adequate psykers be able to tell those of the Jupiter bloodline are Changed in some way? They apparently still look the same and we only know Cryomancy, but can't we still sense that their souls have been tampered with, or do you need actual Telepathy to tell that?
>>
>>5932317
I mean he still is mostly a blank so we would get an uneasy feeling and revulsion. it looks like the bird just turned it down enough to allow warp travel
>>
>>5932277
also, you're going to want to choose a direction because we can only travel 1-3 hexes a turn (depending on how good you roll)
>>
>>5932277
>Adopt Nomadic Ways
Careful, this goes directly against your God mandate n°1

>>5932317
They're Blanks. You will find them disturbing and "off". I don't feel any of you have worked enough on philosophy, or theology, for the concept of "Soul" to have emerged though.

>>5932361
It's even more : Jupiter can flip out, and flip in again, their Blankness, like flexing a muscle
>>
>>5932652
>philosophy, or theology, for the concept of "Soul"
We barely started the tribal age, we are nowhere near any of that.

Tzeentch really thrown him two big tasks (a city is way way off), especially when we are far distant from each other, and not being easy to find. Not to mention tribe interactions might not be friendly immediately (for all the tribes matriarchs know, they might be the only Under Hunters like this in existance. We have only seen animal packs of Under Hunters after all).
>>
>>5932688
Wow, who could have thought power beyond power came with a cost beyond cost?
>>
>>5932692
XD
>>
>>5932652
I was intending on roaming around in hopes of learning some infrastructural knowhow, but after looking back it seems I would have to be wandering quite a while to meet anybody we could truly learn from. If I can, I will attempt to go to the south to meet the BadBacks, learn what we can about paths and bartering, before perhaps setting off to find a suitable location to found our city.
>>
>>5932708
Your god mandate is to set the city exactly where you tried to settle first - on the wall leading to a path out of the Crack
>>
Technically none of the Biped Hunters have actually met each other right? Jupiter’s city could act as a hub for other Matriarchs to meet and share discoveries and cultures. Of course, only Jupiter would be smart enough to plan something like this, everyone else (including the Nobles) hasn’t really clocked in that you could do something like this
>>
>>5932708
However, with the warp-presence of Under Hunter, your God can direct you toward BadBack territory in south-East.
>>
>>5932741
Our tribes haven't meet and don't know each other. They aren't near, thankfully. I am very glad the distance are that much large since that will actually allow some development, differences, story and so on.

Lol thats a funny proposal. If you want to immediately be influenced by tzeentch, and weirdly accept to work with strangers that by all means none of us believed existed beyond our own tribes go for it. It doesn't make much sense to me to just collaborate and be friends at the moment, there is really little reason for do so for our tribes.

And i prefer to develop my own culture without chaos stuff in it.
>>

>GhostClaw : Subjugation
The Ghostclaw pack, by underhands method breaking away strongly with the rituals of dominance, asserted control over the nearby packs, forcing them to share their food.
This increase your maximum tribe size.

>Prideful : Agriculture(StoveGrove)
The PridefulWhitemane tribe have come with a good understanding of biological process of the Stove Grove testicles and lifespan.
A Stove Grove is actually made of several intertwined lianas, supporting each other. Your tribe is now able to cut away older lianas and planting newer ones, while feeding the herded dahus.
This result on established grove being maintained, and kept alive far longer than what would be expected by witnessing them in the wild.
Your Matriarch even attempted to color-match lianas in a pet project, but the resulting grove never bore pods.
Your tribe also noticed the newer grove grow more easily in the feces of Lunar Dahus. Said Dahus like to munch on budding sprouts as a delicacy - quite easy for your tribe to set up a couple member to watch out the budding groves, preventing the herds and the wildling to eat the groves.
This biological knowledge leads you to spread more Groves, which definitely can use the help so far north.
Said grove are the home of Fire Ferns, which roots are a good supply of nutrient for your tribe.
>Two very good rolls on a row related to biosphere mastering
The way the tribe handled animals and plants proved really effective. This approach to animals and plants will be transmitted to further generations.
>Farmer Tradition : +1 to relatable rolls.

>BadBack : recruitment
The Badback tribe asked for testicles and eggs as payment for the further Mercenary work instead of food.
In addition, the life of wandering warriors, always eating good meat, entice a few young hunter and huntress to join the tribe.
This result to Badback's tribe almost tripling in size.

>Cerulean : Oral History
The older male of the tribe is tasked with remembering important events, and teach them to the younger generations.
This male will be known as the tribes' Living Memory.
>For now on, your tribe will be able to chart important developments and events it witness.
>>
>Grassgreen : Medicine [First Aid]
The Grassgreen tribe asserted the main source of death in fight : losing the Ichor.
Thus, a member of the tribe is in charge of holding back and apply a patch of burning light moss to wounds.
The pain is awful. But it works in some cases, saving a few Under Hunters - especially during the predator oncoming onslaught.

>Burning : Nursery Keeps
The BurningGrass tribe does not have a Nest behavior anchored in them.
Still, the eggs and the youth are not suited to dangerous hunts and are liability for extortion operations.
Thus, the tribe mount temporary walls where eggs are kept warm and youth can grow their first week, with fewer underhunter power necessary.

>Jupiter : roam south-East
Your tribe progressed slowly. Your objective might be reachable more easily in the future.
Your matriarch is plagued by nightmares.
You know why you're god is asking you to meet other tribes.

As stated, this turn is plagued by attacks of predators.
Some of you are unaffected. Other are a bit more protected by their nest.
Jupiter, exposed in the open, suffer the blow frontally.
>>
And i fucked up in the update.

>Jupiter
The knowledge will grant you +4 in whatever you'll attempt with the tribe met, as you glimpsed at the great plan.
>>

since predators are attacking invenst in researching defensive structures.

since everyone needs to rest some times and its easier to protect people if they are not out inthe open the tribe will have to learn to create sturdy shelters to hunker down in while out fighting. also useful for main settlement to make it more difficult for predators to attack with surprise.

could lead to further developments in the realms of builidng more permanent structures.
>>
>>5934681
Two pack members perish. The Matriarch sees this as a sign that her judgement alone cannot account for any possible attack or sudden change in our territory. She is not the only child of the original Whitemane, there are other Two Leg Hunters. Other pack members who are smarter than your average Under-Hunter. Perhaps she shouldn’t be the only decision maker. She will call all Two Leg Hunters, all of her kinsmen, into a separate room in the Ziggurat. Away from other Under-Hunters, who are far too deeply rooted in tradition. Her Mother was a visionary. So is she. So are her fellow Two-Legs. They will understand. A single Under-Hunter cannot rule an entire tribe. There should be a council instead! Let all Two Legs voice their ideas!
>>
>>5934725
The reason I didn’t just say siblings/brothers and sisters is cause I don’t know if we recruited anyone else who is Two-Legged or if every sapient Under-Hunter in the tribe is related in some way.
>>
>>5934728
As there were no tribe meet-up, yes your two-legged share at least a great-great-grandmother.
>>
>>5934731
Then let the Oligarchy commence! At least until we have anyone else who is smart enough to contribute to the council.
>>
>>5934742
All your number referred in the excel sheet are two-legged. 4 legs are oddities, and as the mutation is dominant, will be breeded out.

So I'm taking your vote more toward "Democracy". Unless you explicitely want only the cream of the crop of your tribe to make decisions.
>>
>>5934745
I think, in order to have at least some quality control, that the Matriarch will let in the council only those who personally contribute. The Gardner who manages the orchards of Groves. The Startender who makes sure the Ziggurat ice stays on during the night when the rest of the occupants sleep. The Digger who m plants the seeds and keeps the Dahu away from the saplings. The Nurse. The Nomad Guide, who teaches all young Hunters the route of grazing Dahu.
And so on. All tribe members who contribute something.
>>
>>5934757
I'll take exactly what you're Writin-ing .
>>
>>5934762
Well that’s my final answer. My move this turn is to have any member of the tribe that contributes in some way, from the lowly manure and dirt Digger, to the Startender to the Nomad/Herd Guide, anyone who does something, also pitch in with ideas. Instead of only the Matriarch deciding for the whole tribe, the tribe decides alongside the Leader.
>>
>>5934681
>Guardianship

The Matriarch seeing the Nursery Keeps as a proof of concept approaches the Tribes vassals with an offer. In exchange for their help in building a stronger and more permanent structure, the Burning Grass Tribe will protect their young and eggs freeing up up our vassals to hunt more and/or make more packs into their vassals (and also indirectly increase the amount of food going to the tribe)
>>
>>5934681
The Grass Green tribe dwindles and dwindles, yet keeps its eyes turned toward the future. With so many dead a hundred tiny discoveries are in danger of vanishing. The Matriarch turns to wall carving, scratching with claws or scraping with rocks, trying to capture memories, clever ideas and personal glories.
>>
>>5934681
>Hiding in Ice and Snow: refining their ice shaping capabilities, the tribe shape the ice and snow around them to hide their presence from others. Hidden tunnels and nests, false walls, false ceiling, false icey/show ground and covering their traces are exemple of this new craft.

With the increase in predators I'm trying the hide my tribe from them.
>>
*snow grounds not show grounds

>>5934680

>>5934681
Damn, i really want to do those tombs but might be best not to do it yet.

>Development : Snow Shade Spell

The Ghost Claw Tribe has grow even stronger and numerous. The great predators though keep trying to find it for fight-kill, so the second matriarch has thought they deserve to die and feed the tribe with their flesh. And for better kill them in the ways of the tribe, she thought of a new spell. Looking and listening at the snow she calls it and orders it to be around her body and surrounding her body. The white and azure fur of the tribe already great for not being seen, is further enhanced by such a spell. Now it will be more difficult for predators and enemies to find and attack the tribe, and the tribe will be able to attack them together constantly and unpunished.

This is a particularly uneventful winter.
The predator attacks slowly recede, dying of hunger, while the temperature slowly recover from the plunge.
However, most of your projects and development were hampered by the harassing and the sheer cold.
The Jupiter tribe slowly crawled toward their destination.
The BurningGrass tribe was unable to convince the vassal packs of the need to give away eggs and young : understandable, as the protection instinct of taking care of eggs and youth in their Dorsal Poach is much to overtake.
The Cerulean tribe attempted to work on concealed infrastructure : safer displacement for the tribe, traps for the intruders.
That is until said trapped tunnel collapsed over your Matriarch. Your Historian witnessed, and recorded the event.
The GhostClaw tribe tries to inspire themself of the snow storm.
Could they conjure it and hide in its heart? Sadly, their best effort does not yield any things.

However, a few success happen for three of you.
The BadBack tribe created their own Nest in the shape of Defensive Shelters.
Mainly utilitary, and mounted using the environment, this get the tribe in the more and more widespread "shelter-building culture".

In the North of Frozen Peaks, the Whitemane is no longer lead solely by a Matriarch. The Tribe created a council, with every active adult member taking part.
For now, you haven't researched [Specialized Jobs] for your Hunter, thus they aren't reflected in your council's organization.
>Consequence : can't take decision going against the Hunter's interest. Can keep course of action despite Matriarch dying.

In their caves, waiting for the bulk of the cold to recede, the GrassGreen tribe start carving the rock walls with their claws.
For now, those itches are crude and with few details; still this is the first occurence of Lasting Art, in a figurative and simple style.

Except Jupiter, which troubles lead to an early matriarch replacement All your matriarch died and you can't take the same action this turn.
Whitemane you could. But it's useless as you succeeded.
>How would your tribe progress?

Jupiter, you will reach BadBack this turn no matter what.
What's your plan? Something like stealing as much technological secret as you can and buzz off is valid.
>>
>>5936594
with Shelter secured the tribe looks to ensuring that a greater steady amount of food can come in without needing to risk the lives of hunters and elderly members of the community.

Repurpose some of the closest shelters into growing rooms for Light moss and Rock Ivy
>>
>>5936604
with closest shelter i mean closest to the main "settlement" where the tribe is staying.
>>
>>5936594
The Gardners and Herders have come together with a proposal for a new invention: the Grove is made of lianas. Young lianas are still sturdy even when cut and lose that searing heat. The Skin of Dahu, Hunter and Holey-Moley can persist if it is soaked in snow then left to dry near a Stove Grove. We Hunters have Pouches. These are for eggs, for young. But what about fake pouches? Made from dried skin and tied with a liana hung around the shoulders, or tied to the body, just bellow the secondary ears? These can be used to hold meat, for seed, for more skin and liana. Maybe even hold anything you want to carry with you?
>>
>>5936644
Once we fully domesticate the Lunar-Dahu, fake pouches can be tied to them
>>
>>5936594

> Begin utilizing Fire as a tool for cooking, warmth, and perhaps even a weapon

Most underhunters command the power of ice, but the GrassGreen line of matriarchs are blanks, cut off from the ethereal power their kin possess. Instead the GrassGreen tribe turns its attention to fire, that which can be claimed from the flora of this world. It can seal wounds, can it do more? Cook meat? Be tamed for warmth? Brandished at fourbeaks?
>>
>>5936594
>Hidden Gardens: the tribe find caves along their travel paths where they decide to cultivate moss. When they leave the area, they seal and hide this gardens behind ice walls. The idea is to preserve the moss as a food cache for their return.

>Ghost Claw Tribe Advancement so far : Assassins-like tribe prefer night opportunism over natural matriarch ritual duels and natural hunts, cave nest, using rocks/shaping rocks (Rounder rocks for Bludgeoning, oblong rocks sharpened into Piercing points, flat rocks faceted into edges) + synergized with Shape Ice, turns the projectile into ice blades, boulder or points, Observation behavior
>Ghost Claw Tribe Failed Advancement : Primitive Tombs, Snow Shade Spell

>Development : A better home carved out of the caverns

Displeased by the failure with the spell, the Second Matriarch decides instead to concentrate on something else. The tribe shall transform their nest cavern. But how ? Simple, they know they can shape and cut rocks, so why not do the same with the stone around their nest cavern ? Their nest cavern shall become larger and more refined, through ice spells and their cut rocks, they will cut the stones and create a better home.

I'm trying to think what my next move can be for the Dahu Domestication... Its between studying Dahu mating habits or attempting to make Dahu manure collection pits so we could farm Stove Groves easier.
There's also the possibility of improving the Council by making it so Under-Hunter Adults that are part of the Council can take a youngling as an apprentice. Follow them around and teach them their specific job, encouraging them to experiment and improve to impress said apprentice, which should make Specialized jobs...

>Badback : Glasshouse
For the first time, your tribe met a pack of Bipedal Hunter - not a pack. Another tribe, with strange two-prong thin noses.
However, none of you display aggressiveness. On a first gaze, they feel a bit off, but the feeling soon subside.
The two tribes live as one for a few hundred days. The newly met Hunters are unable to wield Ice, but they provide some mind-blowing insight on how to build in a better way.
>71 :
Shelters are build around Light Moss spots and cliffs with greater number of Ivy. When left, the shelter's door is sealed, while letting thin holes after it is discovered the plants don't like staying in a airtight construction.
The shelters provide a secure place for the plants to grow without getting munched by Ivy fatties, Ivy Gliders or Moss Crawlers.
However, the Under Hunter remains mostly a Carnivore. This innovation grants supplementary food, but not enough to impact the tribe significantly for now.

>>5936644
>Whitemane : Leatherwork [Fake Pouch]
>7 :
Turns out it was wishful thinking. Skins and hides shrivel and rot, with the notable exception of the scaly Dahu Rear Plate.
The tribe member that spent a good part of their life skinning, and then letting dry or covering in snow the Dahu's hide are wildly unsuccesful in their attempt.

>>5936658
>Grassgreen : Fire age
The 7 members of the Grassgreen tribe made a discovery : using Stove Grove pods and dead lianas, they now know how to start a bonfire.
It's actually quite simple - sending brutally the pod leads to a small burst of flame. Once dead, the grove's liana dessicate and become flamable, as well as dried Ferns.
This new discovery provide warmth during the harshest of climate and let them scare away packs of quadrupedal Hunters - Fire is extremely effective against Hunterkind
>Tactical + Past research : Trap Making synergy
Of course, the tribe finds a way to weaponize the fire by creating a new kind of traps : a ball of dried lianas with pods inside instead of a rock, turning in a searing hot blazing tumbleweed.
The discovery of Fire have been carved in on of your nest.
Your low number remains a serious concern.

The Cerulean tribe creates Hidden Garden, walling some larders on favorable spots.
>9 : Failure
However, with the roaming nature of the tribe establishing only temporary settlements over a vast territory despite the lasting memory of your historian, the caches are not found again, forgotten, and the idea disappears over time.
Your historian passed away. A new historian, trained by the first, takes the mantle.
He gained some Insight on how chronicles will be harder when you will reach daughter of daughter of daughter of daughter of first matriarch, or sudent of student of student of student of Historian.
>>
>Ghostclaw : Stonecarving
The ghostclaw tribe tried to dig the rock of the caverns to increase nest space, as well as creating a few new caverns.
>65 for DC 70 : not enough to succeed...
Your matriarch got an Insight on what you're missing.
Your rock tool, your ice and your claws were not enough to penetrate efficiently and durably the hard rocks of the peaks. But the Holey Moley can dig through...

>Jupiter : Brainstorming.
Your tribe learned about Trails from BadBack's tribe. You also lended your Big Brain to discuss Glasshouses.
Although your tribe got only 11 members, sharing the same direct environment as Badback's 28 member seems difficultly sustainable in the long term.

>BurningGrass : Food Storage
The matriarch had a ground-breaking idea : what if she froze the excess intake from vassals for later consumption?
Such is done with the next batch. However, the effort backfired, as there is no way yet to unfreeze food. The tribe spend the rest of the several hundred day-span gathering meat to make-up for that blunder.
>>
A/N : Introducing Insight mechanic.
If your next write-in is close enough to what I have in mind, your next roll will get a +10 bonus. Else, the insight will fade.

A/N A/N : Couldn't draw today. Sorry not sorry.
>>
>>5938834
The GrassGreen tribe turns its efforts to the simple act of expanding the tribe, challenging other packs of Underhunters after a demoralizing display of their mastery of fire.
>>
>>5938838
The time has come to further improve the livelihood of Hunter and Dahu. We shall construct dedicated circles marked with stones or ice along our herding paths meant to show where manure is collected and stored. We shall have the fastest of the tribe, once every few days, perform runs where they collect said manure from the circles and spread it to every nearby Stove Grove Sapling and stunted Liana mass. This will ensure new Groves grow quick and those who have stopped growing or are nearing the beginning of their withering spiral shall begin to recover
>>
>>5938836
Jupiter tribe will return north, practice making paths on the way back. Think about how paths could be made on more vertical surfaces. Ladders? Multi-story buildings?
>>
>>5938834

>>
>>5938836
>Fire

The matriarch was stumped. she could freeze the food but could not thaw it and the solution came to her suddenly while on a hunt. She spots a Bright Moss (was that the species I forgot almost all of their names) set itself on fire burning a "predator" and wonders if she could somehow use this to unfreeze the food.

if that doesn't work for you or you think it's too much of a reach she will instead be inspired by those flying jellyfish with both cyromancy and pyromancy

>Ghost Claw Tribe Failed Advancement : Primitive Tombs, Snow Shade Spell, Stonecarving

>Development : A new little friend (Holey Moley Domestication)
The Holey Moleys are good to eat.
Yet the Third Matriarch thinks they can be captured for see if they can be ordered to help the Tribe. The Ghostclaw Tribe will capture some Holey Moleys, and see about convincing them to work for them, by giving them food and indicating them to dig the great stone of the cave nest. If they don't do it the Tribe will repeat the process, giving to the more successful ones reward and the less successful they will gain punishment. Like more food and many touch-heads, or many violence-maim or murder-devour.

This is a quite non-eventful stretch of time. Half of the tribes stagnate - some of the ideas of the matriarches fails to become orders, some orders are forgotten due to emergency circumstances such as a cub falling from the dorsal pouch.
However, slow progress are made by the other half.

The GrassGreen tribe grows in size, more than tripling in numbers.
From a sparse tribe one bad night away from extinction, the tribe secured its future thanks to their extremely efficient weapon.
The evolution in such a cold environment for eons and with a relatively late appearance of fire in the environment, the basic biology of your species makes them extremely vulnerable to burns.

The GhostClaw tribe is not able to dig through hard rocks.
But Holeys Moleys can. The matriarch have a wild idea : what if they could get the ground-swimmers to dig for them?
The matriarch send as an order not to hunt the Holey Moley, to let the roots of the fire ferns near to the nests for them, and even set aside a few of the roots for the diggers.
A few smart yellow burrowers start to follow the tribe around.
>Tamed Holey Moleys

The Whitemane tribe acquired a new ressource : Dahu Manure.
The feces, containing pods and nutrient, are used to tend to the lianas.
Hunters tending the Dahu are collecting the feces in circular pits, and a youngster is sent running for shit when needs arise.
This increase drastically the amount of present Stove Grove, warming the peaks delved by the tribe.

Last, the Jupiter tribe is close to home.
Rising stone cairns in spot visible from far away, a path starts to line between the two tribes.

This slow progress period lasted long enough for your matriarch to die, your insights long gone.

All council members! By your side there shall be at least one youngling, perhaps your spawn, perhaps someone else’s. You will teach them what you know, how you know, you will teach them what got you into the council position, your tricks of trade. Whitemane encourages you to try your best to impress and awe these young ones, for they will be your successors. The future of the tribe depends on how well you handle these… apprentices.

The fourth matriarch knows what's best for the tribe, like her mother did. It is time to do something important more than anything else. Thinking. The tribe already does this, her family say. No not like she believes. When there is time to stay in the nest cave, she will do something other never did and do it better. She will be calmer and there will be great silence yes.

>BadBack : Oral History
81 : Success!
What started as an elder rambling on how it shouldn't be forgotten they've lent a meal to the Pongo-looking bipedal friendly hunters turned quickly in a concern inside the tribe?
What if the debt was forgotten? What if the friendly tribe calling themself Jupiter was forgotten?
Such a thing could not be permitted : your tribe started recording events in an Oral tradition.

>Whitemane : Apprentices
The Whitemane Council decides to train youngling better...
>32 : Failure
But kids does not listen to their elder. Each generation is unable to transmit specifics of hard-earned Knowledge. Is it due to kids those days or a lack of pedagogy and patience from the elders?
The children rebel, and makes life unliveable to their parents. The idea is dropped for now.

>Cerulean : Infrastructure - Tunnels; false walls, hidden nests
A descendant of the matriarch crunched to death by the tunnels succeeded where her mother didn't.
The Cerulean tribe now hides their nest and have trap-ridden secret corridor.
On one hand, this is stealthy and secures the perimeter. On the other, this is an ineffective way of moving.
50+5 : 55 - Success

>GrassGreen : Bone Armour
The GrassGreen tribe had a crazy idea : could the rear plate of Lunar Dahu or the flat bone of Under Hunter be used as body protection?
Good idea, poor execution : How to make the bones fit together?
One member of the tribe thinks, ponders, and comes with an Insight : maybe you could develop first some kind of Fixative for your tribe to use?

>BurningGrass : Psyker Ice Armour
Back in the depth of the Crack, a BurningGrass matriarch fiddle in the Nursery-Keep : Ice wall against a body could protect it.
>54 for DC 60 for New Spell
Your psyker ability is not subtle enough to yield results : the Hunter that attempted it remained encased in Ice, requiring help from other psykers to pry it out.
However, not everything is lost - a young Hunter wonder, and voice out loud his Insight - this failed Ice Armor might have its own use?

>GhostClaw : Meditation
>51
>Synergize with Hunter's 6th Sense and Observant
Deep in a cave-nest, a GhostClaw Matriarch is motionless. Eyes close, she breath in, and out. Slowly. In, out. The storm inside her becomes snow parted by the Glacier Drifter of her will.
In. Her gaze encompass all the Crack. Out. Maybe some Insight can be gained by watching the others?
However, Meditation takes a long time to achieve and require no weight on one's mind.
>New action : Ethereal Spy - Grants your tribe +5 to replicate one research from another non-blank tribes
Your replication will be less strong or can outright fail if I feel you lack development steps.
>>
>Jupiter :
The 11 members of the Jupiter tribe, big travellers, now carve wall and ice on the road roamed. The tribe gave abstract signigications to itches and scratches, letting scouts chart way for the rest of the tribe.
This helps them a bit while they travel. Helps them enough so that they keep the habit once back in the territory their God mandated to build a city on.
Granted, new packs, having long forgotten the battles, are scattered around.
>81 synchronism : A BadBack Elder had a dream where it seen a Pongo Hunter itches at a crossroad. Several ways are marked. The bulk of the tribe follows, gaze at the mark, and immediately goes forward.
Effect : Badback is Aware of the Pictograms. Unaware of their significance.

Event : Degeneracy
All of (You) feel like the quadrupedal pack's Matriarch are slightly wrong. Most doesn't respect the Dominance ritual anymore, and have a tendancy to communicate less.
This phenomenon does not impact subjugated packs of GhostClaw nor the vassal packs of BurningGrass.
>>
>>5945896

The GrassGreen tribe ponders the Riddle of Bone. Bone is strong, and easy to find, but there is no easy way to keep bone firmly on the body. A youngling of the tribe brings his frustrated Matriarch his own answer, a freshly killed Fatty from the walls of the Crack. Perhaps their natural stickiness could be used? The tribe sets to work trying primitive processing techniques to make the glue stronger and longer lasting. Perhaps mixing it with other sticky things like plant matter will help? (Stove grove sap from dead stove groves?)

> Develop adhesives by experimenting with the sticky glue of Fatties.
>>
>>5945896
>Watcher System: a watch is implemented; always 2 adults must at all times observe the surrendings of the tribe. The Matriarch and the Historian are excused from this Watch.
>>
>>5945896
>Ghost Claw Tribe Advancement so far : Assassins-like tribe prefer night opportunism over natural matriarch ritual duels and natural hunts, cave nest, using rocks/shaping rocks (Rounder rocks for Bludgeoning, oblong rocks sharpened into Piercing points, flat rocks faceted into edges) + synergized with Shape Ice, turns the projectile into ice blades, boulder or points, Observation behavior, Subjugation, Tamed Holey Moleys, Meditation
>Ghost Claw Tribe Failed Advancement : Primitive Tombs, Snow Shade Spell, Stonecarving

So much to do the tribal age is quite active !

>Development :Growing Fire Ferns
Many of the tribe members cant help but watch time to time what their tamed Holey Moleys do. It seems they really like the Fire Ferns roots. They are good to eat, the creatures are right. What if the tribe had more then ? It is a simple idea, one the Matriarch fully supports. They shall understand how to grow more Fire Ferns and eat their good and delicious roots.

>discover cooking
>>
>>5945925
Nice idea to use Fatty.
However, you don't have access to the crack from your spot - for getting a fatty you'll have to journey, and journey back. But maybe they can be introduced to the surface that way?

Despite nothing much going on for the BadBack and the Cerulean tribe over the last hundreds of days, much progress happened to other :

>Whitemane : Domestication (Dahu)
>80 : learn more about Dahu anatomy, can grow the Dahu numbers.
This is what the Whitemane have discovered :
- Dahu can adjust which leg's side is shorter or longer with two pelvic bones
- Dahu does not use testicles to reproduce
- Dahu reproduction involves "Mingling" in a horny, hoofy ball of fur that tumbles down the slopes of the peaks.
Hunter previously thought the Dahu were fighting, thus preventing them to get close and intimate
- Dahu testicle-eggs grow in a small-opening poach in their belly.
- Dahu wear their newborn in their horns. But usually, newborns are hidden.

>Burning Grass : Immobilize
The Burning Grass tribe turned the failed Armor spell into something new, something mighter : Immobilize.
A prison of Ice surround the target, left alive and aware. The Psyker that came with that new spell have the hunch this is a perfect way to show dominance to unruly packs.

>Grassgreen : Pilgrimage
Guided by their Sixth Sense, the Grassgreen daughter discovered two significant sites : the staircase leading to the crack and the crater that hosted the first Under Hunter out of the crack.
Both of them, despite far away, lit a bonfire and contemplated while it burns to ashes, thinking about the one that pass through that place in the past.

>GhostClaw : Agriculture (Fire Ferns)
The Fire Ferns grow under the blazing-hot Stove Grove. They are difficult to reach, under the melting effect of the scorching air trapped under the grove.
And they don't grow anywhere else than under the Grove.
However, Holey Moleys can dig and fetch the prize.
The pride is taught to fetch the delicious purple roots for sharing with the tribe : the Hunter escorts the Moley, the Moley brave the heat.
The alliance of hunters and diggers soon find that letting a few roots let them all grow back the next time the tribe walks to the grove.
However, digging them all out seems to prevent more ferns to grow. The matriarch have the genius idea to not-eat all fern and un-dig some at the barren grove.
A new food source have been secured for the GhostClaw tribe.
>>
>Jupiter : permanent homes
At long last, the Pongo Tribe have a long term shelter. how did they build such a thing without Psyker Power?
Using their wit, the tribe mash ice back into water. The wet slurry freeze back, keeping the rocks in place.
This is quite effective for mounting walls against the Cliff. Ceilings, however, are still at best a work in progress requiring frequent maintenance.
In her slumber, the matriarch see their god.
"You will have to grow in number. Your hamlet needs to turn in a village, the village in a town, the town in a city.
Village means securing food sources. Also, sending all your tribe away? So inefficient.
"
>God mandate number 1 : Secure long-term food solution
>God mandate number 2 : turn the Hamlet in a Village
>God mandate number 3 : find a way to travel without taking all the tribe out of the Hamlet.

The wild packs are becoming more and more bold, not hesitating to attack preys right in front of your tribes.

>How should your tribe evolve?
>>
Also, we're slowly getting close to thread end.
>How are you liking the tribe phasis so far?
>Are you not frustrated by the low amount of interraction among player for now?
>What should be improved?
>>
>>5951290
Such boldness only happens when they believe they outnumber us. We shall make it so we are never outnumbered.
Look at the ice surrounding us. Behold the way the light dances on it the way it tricks your eyes. On a truly sunny day, you cannot trust the Horizon it’s ever far, ever closer. The light betrays you, as does the snow and frost.
A new Psyker technique: Frost Mirror. We will make ice that under sunlight produces a mirage unlike no other, of a Whitemane pack.
>>5951291
I like it. Not really interacting with the other tribes is something that will change naturally, as we exhaust our options
>>
>>5951290
>Ghost Claw Tribe Advancement so far : Assassins-like tribe prefer night opportunism over natural matriarch ritual duels and natural hunts, cave nest, using rocks/shaping rocks (Rounder rocks for Bludgeoning, oblong rocks sharpened into Piercing points, flat rocks faceted into edges) + synergized with Shape Ice, turns the projectile into ice blades, boulder or points, Observation behavior, Subjugation, Tamed Holey Moleys, Meditation, Ethereal Spy - Grants your tribe +5 to replicate one research from another non-blank tribes, Agriculture (Fire Ferns)
>Ghost Claw Tribe Failed Advancement : Primitive Tombs, Snow Shade Spell, Stonecarving

>Development : Primitive Stone "Tools" (sharper rocks)
Looking at their nice rocks, the fourth matriarch can't help but think if they could be more. Better, sharper, less.... crude even. The tribe shall work on this and try and create better rocks to use. Perhaps they could make them like their claws or the claws of their Holey Moleys pets ?

>>5951291
>How are you liking the tribe phasis so far?
A lot. Its a slow road but i like it.
>Are you not frustrated by the low amount of interraction among player for now?
Not at all. I think it's necessary for allow everyone to mold their tribes.
>What should be improved ?
Not sure ..... maybe a tribal points system that slowly fills and allows our tribe to do a special additional action ? More events for interact with the world ? Npc tribes arriving ? I don't remember finding the outside species in the pastebin last time i used it. If you could add them that would be nice, otherwise i am just going to look at them in past threads.
>>
>>5951334
>Outside species

It's because of spoilers in my notes; thus I haven't shared them yet.

>Tribal point
I try to hide crunch a lot for now to avoid one player chaining a few good roll to stomp all the other. Thus, with insight and text-based mechanics I can "force" balance. You won't be all equal, but no one should be 1 bad roll away from utter destruction.
>>
>>5951290

Beligerence by rival tribes that Dependance on the Bad Backs Protection from Fourbeaks and other predators. Thatcher is sometjing that brings the Matriarchs blood to a boiling point.

With ice cold fury she Leids her pack into developing their Ice Basedow weaponry to become longer and more durable to be wielded in to hands for more killing power. The one that strikes first can kill first. And the one standing far enough away might not have to suffer retaliation

>How are you liking the tribe phasis so far?

Its quite neat so far. Good for a small distraction during work or in the evening befreundet bed

>Are you not frustrated by the low amount of interraction among player for now?

Not really. After All i share the number 1 Spot for interactions with other players with Jupiter

>What should be improved?

Some residual progress being made even on a failure that the tribe can build upon later. Would be neat but i dont know how much of that is already implemented by you

Just make them a permanent structure. Maybe use our new mastery of cyromancy to help.

>What should be improved?
I would like to get something even when I fail (as long as it's not a nat 1). It sucks when I spend five straight turns failing so I fall behind the other tribes. I don't really see a way i'm going to catch up at all.
>>
>>5951395
Well, Jupiter spent 7 turns not doing much. So don't worry. On paper, with your vassals and bonus, you should come ahead if you were to fight here and now.
>>
>>5951290
The Chosen Jupiter tribe must take actions to quell the wild ones, and bring things into line with our mandate. We will become nocturnal stalkers of the night, establishing hidden paths to strike at any of those who dare come too close to our holy home in the deep darkness of the nighttime canyon.
We will hone all of our wits and use all of our knowledge, marking the paths to guide our descendants and those similarly enlightened to plunder and safety, and also hone our vision to navigate by what slight starlight is available.
>>
>>5951396
To be fair my path wound up making things interesting, despite little material 'progress' being made.
Also can we get some headcounts for the tribes? Pretty please?
>>
>>5951290
Impertinence! The GrassGreen tribe works itself into a frenzy at the perversion of the degenerate tribes. Clearly it is time for another reminder of who controls this region. The GrassGreen tribe will go forth with flame and claw and goad the degenerate tribes into battle at sites of our choosing, taking advantage of the degenerate tribes fear of fire and our mastery of it to wield our traps against them!

> Subjugate, Enslave, or Drive Out the degenerate tribes with flame and claw

(Love the imagery of discovering the ascent of Under Hunters btw)
>>
>>5951401
You already have "trails" over your territory, with written signs.
I don't understand the write-in : you want to make secret paths for your tribe?

Also, current Headcount :
To be fair, the one that should be the most ahead at this point would be IceyOne tribe. Oh well, too bad for them.
>>
>>5934680
You said here that Fire Ferns grow near Stove Grove lianas and that their roots are nutritious for our tribe. But then Ghost Claw specifically has Fire Ferns Agriculture. Do I need to research if Fire Ferns are edible before I can actually farm them or is it common knowledge that a Grove is multi-purpose?
>>
>>5951497
You can eat them. But your tribe doesn't know how to securely fetch Fire Ferns without suffering burns, that leaving a few alones let them regrow and that planting some under barren groves will let you have more.
So you'll have to research. Or not, as your Dahu are a good food source for now.
>>
>>5951507
i have an idea and it involves Dahu...lots of Dahu.
>>
>>5951290
>Hidden Gardens the return: the tribe find caves along their travel paths where they decide to cultivate moss. When they leave the area, they seal and hide this gardens behind ice walls. The idea is to preserve the moss as a food cache for their return.
>>
>>5951418
Disguise our paths so outsiders don't know how/where to find us, become nocturnal opportunistic hunters.
Bogeymen styles.
>>
>>5951732
this goes completely against the trail+written post development. You want a parallel unofficial network or destroying trails on your territory?
>>
>>5951510
I still need your vote before proceeding mate.

So do i need Jupiter's clarification
>>
>>5952420
i voted already. I want to try and make a new Psyker technique, but by now I do have something else in mind if you think Cryomancy can't make frost illusions by itself.
If I can't make Frost Mirror (as in you won't let me because I need another Psyker path) I want to try and make Dahu Plate Armor. I tie Dahu rear plates with Lianas over my back, front and maybe head if it fits and tie Dahu Horns to my hands, for stabbing
>>
>>5952420
Well I assumed the only trails in the Pongo zone was the one path leading to the south. Also, I didn't think our level of development was at a point where a path needed to be completely destroyed to be obscured, or that the trails we were making were so advanced that we couldn't implement our own take on them, even if they were being constructed while we were moving.
If you're telling me that there is already and substantial network of established trails throughout my territory, then I'd prefer to make secret bunkers/storehouses throughout the area so that we can more effectively hunt in and protect our area.
Do you have any issues with nocturnal development?

The oddity of this few hundred days is the BadBack tribe :
Due to the increase of wild packs, the tribe decided to work on improved weapon. This fails, as much attempts since meeting the Jupiter tribe.
An elder wonder if the meeting with the Pongo-looking Hunter stole out their luck.
Are your people growing suspicious of them?

However, other tribes displays wonderful advancement.
The most notable one is the BurningGrass tribe.
The recent agitation of wild packs is, to say the least, concerning. The biggest and best-placed Nursery keep have received countless effort from the tribe over the ages, to improve the structure.
The keep, placed upon a rocky mound, is the perfect vantage point to prevent unwanted guests. Walls are mounted in stone, carved from the bare claw of the mightiest tribe, laced in Ice as a mortar, encased in hard ice, polished to emulate the hardest surface to climb.
The mound is big enough to contain the Keep itself and necessary breathing room from the tribe. This display of strength will remain deeply engraved in the sight of any Hunter seeing it, passed as a tail to their offspring.
>Critical : Created an Architectural Marvel
>Discovered StoneWork : Due to their unique biology, the BurningGrass tribe is strong enough to claw directly at rock,
Now, the matriarch only have to chose how to Name the Keep.

The Cerulean tribe luckily stumbled upon a thing of the past : an Hidden Garden. The tribe's historian remember a tale linked to such walled larders.
This time, the behavior engrains in the tribe with the historian taking upon himself to remember the tribe's garden locations.
>90+
The tribe even stumbled upon a hidden wonder of The Crack : a Mirror Hall. There, the Crack offers a Ice-sealed corridor including a light-well made of reflected and amplified light of the surface.
This Hall walls is covered by a large sheet ice, so the moss or ivy will not grow on that unique place.

South-East, the Jupiter tribe changed their biological rhythm. Now Nocturnal, the tribe created Secret Bunkers alongside the open path, giving them full control over their post-indicated path, and safe spots to feed or hunt better.
However, the tribe struggle to completely control the territory with their extremely low numbers - even BurningGrass the most populous tribe of the Crack with vassalized packs, have a mastery of a small spot of their territorial hex at a time.
>>
Out of the Crack, the Whitemane tribe discovered a new spell, the mirage-inducing Frost Mirror.

Meanwhile, the GrassGreen tribe displayed their Fire mastery to subjugate nearby packs - reaching the same point than Ghostclaw, but still one or two steps away from the feodal system of BurningGrass.
Still, the matriarch have the insight that striking the proverbial Iron while it's hot could be beneficial to the tribe.

Speaking of GhostClaw, they improved their tools by including in their arsenal the metalized claws of the deceased domesticated Holey Moley.
The claws are sturdy enough to go through harder materials, such as rocks.

Because of the erosion of the global social contract among packs, the ritual of Dominances are a thing of the past.
The behavior is still ingrained in the species' biology though.
>Subjugating/recruiting more Wild packs is now a DC 50 test instead of 40

Now, for maybe the last time of this thread...

>How should your tribe evolve?
>>
>>5954439
There is still anger burning in the heart of the Matriarch. Subjugating those she sees as lesser than them would be very difficult with no advancements in weaponry.

Instead she turns her eyes towards defence. Using the Shelters they constructed and construct still she seeks to strengthen her tribes grasp on the Area with increased patrols. Small hunting packs not of the tribe will be stalked and pushed out of the territory without any of the kills they managed to score. Where raw might is not sufficient, cunning shall be used. Somwthing the older Matriarch sees now as old age is starting to creep into her
>>
>>5954439
With security and travel being relatively secure, The Pongos need to focus on developing a steady source of food. We don't have access to the ice magic that keeps the other tribes' food fresh while ours rots, so we should try and find a way to preserve food. Make earthenware containers to keep food from getting dirty and spoiling faster, and maybe develop a method of preservation, fermentation maybe?
>>
>>5954439
>Burning Funeral: the tribe start to cremate their dead in their Garden Caves. Some ashes are used to paint a picture of the dead on the cavern walls. The rest of the ashes are then scattered among the garden too feed it. The moss will feed on the dead of the tribe and the tribe will feed on the moss. It's a virtuous cycle.

As the matriarch looks upon the walls of her great work, upon the glistening walls of Ever Ice Keep she knows her tribe is safe from any attackers so it's time to go on the offence. She gathers her vassals within the glorious halls of her home.

The Matriarch has decided that she can not allow these wild packs to roam on HER land. Firstly she offers the remaining four-legged vassal the chance to mate with Burning Grass males so that their blood may become elevated to the status of the two legs like her most loyal followers.

She then sets out with her host. using the tribes' numbers, strength, and the new spell to make these unruly packs fall in line. She would take the strongest of these packs and make them her direct vassals and the rest would be suburbanite to her vassals becoming lords themself.

Ah. It was their claws.
Not really what I wanted but I guess is something, even if not really tools more like picking them up. Scavenging essentially not tool making.

>Ghost Claw Tribe Advancement so far : Assassins-like tribe prefer night opportunism over natural matriarch ritual duels and natural hunts, cave nest, using rocks/shaping rocks (Rounder rocks for Bludgeoning, oblong rocks sharpened into Piercing points, flat rocks faceted into edges) + synergized with Shape Ice, turns the projectile into ice blades, boulder or points, Observation behavior, Subjugation, Tamed Holey Moleys, Meditation, Ethereal Spy - Grants your tribe +5 to replicate one research from another non-blank tribes, Agriculture (Fire Ferns), Holey Moley Metal Claws
>Ghost Claw Tribe Failed Advancement : Primitive Tombs, Snow Shade Spell, Stonecarving

>Development : Primitive Tombs
The 4th matriarch feels that the deceased of the tribe need a place. No more they shall be left behind or outside. Instead holes in the stone underground, in their caverns will be made for create what the tribe will call tombs. Each tomb will be marked with a series of rocks from larger to smaller for indicate the amount of time the tribeman lived. Ice will be applied inside for freeze the corpses. From now on the dead will be honored by the Ghost Claw tribe.

Strike while the iron is hot indeed! With lesser packs cowed before them the GrassGreen tribe seeks to make accord with their lessers, pressuring them into subservient sects who provide food in exchange for protection from other tribes. Let lesser tribes hunt for them, the GrassGreen tribe will earn their food through sheer might.

Ok. The final step, of phase 1 of my plan for this tribe’s flavour:
The Matriarch is old, the current Council is old. One day the Matriarch and one of the Nomads are watching a young Female trying to impress a group of Male with a feat of strength. She picks up a healthy Lunar Dahu that was peacefully grazing next to her, easily hefting it over her shoulders. The Dahu looks abnormally calm. As she places it back down she boasts how this Dahu was in her care since it was a calf and that it no longer is flighty no matter what she does! One of the Males challenges her to prove *just* how friendly it is, by trying to climb it, a thing most Dahu associate with pouncing. The female tries to mount the Dahu, but her weight is far too much for the poor thing, as its legs slowly give and it ends up on its side, female in tow.
The Matriarch and the Nomad Herder exchange glances… “that’s a good idea”
The strongest, heaviest Dahu, the calmest most Hunter-friendly Dahu; these kinds of Dahu shall be encouraged to breed, their calves will receive special care and attention. They will be encouraged to welcome Hunters mounting them with Stove Grove Saplings.
It will take a while, but the Hunter’s Dahu (name pending) shall become a beast of strength and valor, the greatest Mount!

Also what exactly does Frost Mirror do, mechanically? I envisioned it as a block of psychically enchanted ice that bends light to look like one or several Under-Hunters of the Caster’s Tribe. Or does it look exactly like the caster? So if a Bad Back Hunter learns the spell, grabs a rock and enchants a block of ice, does it now seem like 3 more Bad Backs with Rocks are standing near him from a distance?

Yeah, I envision it as a "Mirror Image" kind of spell

>>5955188
can rip a gorilla arm with a single hand strong

>>5955387
Stronger than the average hunter. Can wrestle them in submission, can literally crunch rocks in their hands while other are not that strong
>>
Sad that everyone but me and Cerulean gets a last page hurrah. Though of course, I wasn’t expecting immediate results, a breeding program takes a little more than a few months, the last days of a Matriarch

maybe next thread both of you will have a better chance.

We can always hope.
I'm trying to update tonight but no promises guys.

>BadBack : Repel wild packs
The Badback patrol their territory, to defend against wild packs.
88 : The Pack are repelled for now. Moreover, you suffered few losses and the gathered Eggs and Testicles amply made up for those.
Your number slightly grows.

>Jupiter : Earthenware
With the mastery of the ladder out of the crack acquired once more, the Jupiter tribe goes back out of the Crack once again.
There, one youngling digging in snow made a discovery : a snow-rock : taste like rock, flows like half-melted snow. The tribe began to experiment with this wondrous matter.
Exposing it to heat of stressed light moss harden it. So the Hunters shape it first. The resulting jugs are great to stockpile food, fetch more snow-rock, holding water, and even temporary storage of eggs and testicles.
Your tribe is pretty sure the BadBack's tribe would be greatly interested by this technological marvel and could barter for it.

>Cerulan : funerals
The act of burning a corpse was taken very badly by the tribe, with the usual stigma associated to fire, one of the few thing that can hurt deeply and lethally the Hunter.
The practice of burning corpse do not hold.

>BurningGrass : Lordship
89 : THe various efforts made to integrate Vassals, which have their own Vassals, have a couple benefits :
>Territory Mastery :
You're still not in control of every square centimeter of your Hex, but the feodal network you put in place let any wild packs confined to the outer ridge
>Hunterpower Tithe :
Furthermore, your numbers are constantly bolstered by the best elements of each of your vassals, leading to a steady growth of the main pack without much efforts.

>Ghostclaw : Primitive tomb
The GhostClaw clan developped cryogenical tombs : Holey Moley and Hunters dig a hold, put the body, and encase it in Ice.
>Spirituality unlock
The funeral rites takes a great significance to the GhostClaw clan. Such that they start to mold Beliefs around them.
What is the meaning of Ice-enclosure? Is Ice a pure force against Evil? Are Hunter preserved for coming back in the late days of need of the tribe?
>GhostClaw : Write-in your tribe's budding belief system!

>GrassGreen : Vassalization
The Grassgreen pack pushed their luck with the local packs, placing three of their daughters as Matriarch. The Fire-enthusiast Green Blank tribe's cave are now safer than ever.
Although, a couple questions are to be answered : Are the vassals allowed to remain in the main tribe's nest? Which of your traditions and technics are teached to Vassals, which are kept for yourself?

>Whitemane : Dahu mounts
Failure. The Dahu are too frail for now. The poor beast collapsed under the Hunter's weight. At least the tribe ate well.
>>
Most tribe defended effectively against the wild packs :
Badback's and Jupiter fighting effort, Cerulean Hidden trap and tunnels, BurningGrass and GrassGreen Vassalization, Whitemane's Frost Mirror where efficient enough deterrents.
Ghostclaw, on the lower effort sized, suffered from a few attacks from Wild Hunters. Your numbers reflect the loss.
