Last time on Cutémon, you found yourself all washed up and all alone near the tropical city of Aloi, where you were found by Surchin and its human trainer Ricky, a young man eagerly exploring the extinction of the Volitos! After accosting an Ambusher and finding yourself atop a strange tree, you were saved from out of the blue when some very much alive Volitos dropped from the sky before vanishing!

Missing your fellow mons, you almost bit off more than you could chew with Lottatax and its lick attack! Finding yourself in Aloi, you were found guilty by a pair of humans who claimed to oversee the mon market with their mons Capari and Reefin! An attempt to apprehend Lottatax left Capari at a loss for word, but before the humans could respond, their ruler the General reprimanded them and revealed the rumor of Volitos had reached him and that he planned to corner the market before mon traders from the mainland reached Aloi!

An encounter in the mon market sent you scurrying to the beach where Reefin reappeared to unleash an attack that knocked Lottatax out completely! You arrived almost too late at the home of Professor Mulberry, but just in time to see Ricky and Surchin forced into a car at Barleen-point by the General! After being introduced to his mon Vineapple, you found that you shared more than bread with the Professor when you found a picture of his childhood friends Booker and Rudy!

Awakened after dark by a surprise visit from Surchin, you followed as Surchin trailed the missing Mulberry to a meeting of the military and the mysterious mon trader, who dramatically revealed herself as Diamond, your petulant pursuer and owner of the Bronze Valley Arena where your friends are held hostage!

Captive Cutémon in hand, Diamond was eager to leave, but you were liberated by Lottatax, and Diamond, left livid, laid a trap for you with Surchin as bait! You followed aboard the General's boat as Professor Mulberry was forced to lead them to the Volitos, but before you were recaptured, Diamond learned a Barleen in the hand is more than enough to sink a boat if the Barleen can use Devastation! A third trial with Diamond ended with her taking a nap and you taking both the victory and a trophy... Diamond's hat!

The return of Ricky saw a standoff with the General, but just when things seemed their worst, the General saw how hungry an Ambusher can be, and you saw there are more Volitos than you can count! Returned to the ground, you and your human friends vowed to keep the Volitos a secret! It seemed the situation was settled, and your new friends saw to it that you were ready to leave Aloi through the seaport! Surchin was there to see you off on your boat ride back to the mainland, and luckily Lottatax was there to help you hustle through the seaport's mon detector!

It seems like your goal is in sight! The Bronze Valley Arena is just ahead!

[SFX: knocking on door]

What? Someone is knocking on your cabin door? You look away from the tiny round window toward the door and then look down at Lottatax on the bed.

Lottatax flattens its head spikes back and looks at the door and takes a step backward on the bed! It looks like Lottatax is ready to challenge whoever is on the other side!

What? You just remembered Diamond and Rattletrap are also riding on the huge boat? Do you think Diamond is knocking on the door?

[SFX: knocking on door]

You look back at the tiny round window and feel around the edge, but you don't know how to open it! You look all around your cabin but you can't see any other ways to get out! It seems like you'll have to open the door no matter what! You look down at Lottatax and nod and then tip-toe across your cabin toward the door and slowly reach for the lock switch and then flip the switch and fling the door open!

"Oh, good, you're awake!"

It's the Captain! "We're just about ready to dock in Bronze Valley. I wanted to make sure you debarked safely."

What? The Captain of the huge boat is going to help you get back on the ground? It seems like he really is a nice human!

The Captain looks down at Lottatax and nods. "You can take care of her after that, right?"

Lottatax looks up at the Captain and its head spikes stand back up and it takes a step forward and says "Lottatax!"

"Follow me." The Captain leads you out of your cabin and through the ship to where all the human passengers are standing in line waiting to walk through the mon detector. When you see the mon detector you can't help stopping! You don't know if you'll be able to trick the humans with Lottatax again!

When the Captain notices you stop he looks back and then looks at the line of humans and says "It's alright, I can take you directly to the plank." The Captain leads you past the mon detector and down a hallway and out into the sunlight next to the dock! "Do you know where you're going after this?"

You're nodding your head!

"Bronze Valley Arena!"

"I figured as much. I could tell you were a mon trainer. Well, it looks like you picked a good Lottatax." The Captain points ahead and says "See that big round building? That's the Bronze Valley Arena. You shouldn't have any problem getting there." The Captain pats your shoulder and says "Alright, young lady, from here you're on your own. Try to stay out of trouble. Bronze Valley can be a dangerous place for a kid!"

You walk down to the ground and look back and wave at the Captain!

"Thank you, Captain!"

When you turn around, you can see the Bronze Valley Arena ahead! You look over your shoulder at Lottatax.

"Ready?"

Lottatax looks up at you and says "Lottatax!"

You take a deep breath and start walking into Bronze Valley!

It's easy to find the Bronze Valley Arena because it's so big you can see it even from here! You keep walking with Lottatax on your back but after a little while there are so many humans walking around you that you can hardly see the arena because there are so many humans in the way!

Suddenly you step out from the crowd of humans into an open area and see the Bronze Valley Arena just ahead of you! Now that you're closer, you can't believe how big it is! It seems like the arena is bigger than the huge boat you rode on!

Lottatax peeks over your shoulder at the arena and flattens its head spikes back and says "Lottatax!"

You look around but you don't see a way to get inside the arena from...

What? You just noticed Joe is here? You don't know how, but Joe is standing in front of you!

"It's you! I was worried!"

You're so happy you can't contain yourself!

"Joe!"

Joe grins at you and says "I've missed you a lot. Come on, let's go inside." He gestures toward the Bronze Valley Arena.

What? Joe wants you to go inside the Bronze Valley Arena?

"Lottatax!"

"It's alright. All our friends are waiting inside."

What? Joe is saying your friends are inside the arena? Does this mean they're not captured anymore?

"Lottatax!"

"That's right, everybody is safe. They can't wait to see you again!"

What? Your friends are safe? It seems like you don't need to rescue them after all!

"Lottatax!"

Suddenly, Lottatax bites you on the shoulder! You can hardly stand the pain!

Joe disappears and when you look up at the sky you see a mon floating in the air above you that looks like a black ball with a face and dangling tendrils and pulsating brain veins!

It's a Horriborb!

You look down at Lottatax and Lottatax looks up at Horriborb and says "Lottatax!"

Horriborb's eyes rotate downward until they're looking at you and then its body rotates downward until it's facing you and its eyes start to glow!

You can't help crying out but you can't even make any noise or open your eyes because Horriborb's TK Drain attack hurts so much!

"Lottatax!" Suddenly you hear the sound of Horriborb getting slapped by Lottatax's tongue and you stop feeling like your skin is on fire and you can open your eyes!

Horriborb looks away from Lottatax and makes eye contact with you and grinds the tips of its teeth back and forth against each other and then swoops down toward you!

You can't help taking a step backward! Horriborb swoops past you so closely that it bites a strand of your hair! Before you can do anything, Horriborb flies back up into the air above you! Horriborb is too high for you to attack it with your Bite attack!

When you look around you see a streetlamp and then you take another step backward and turn and run toward the streetlamp! Horriborb swoops down over Lottatax and follows you!

Lottatax can't help crouching down when Horriborb passes over it! "Lottatax!"

You run toward the streetlamp but you can hear Horriborb behind you! It's getting closer!

You can hear Horriborb's teeth grinding! It's right behind you!

Horriborb swoops down and catches your foot in its mouth! You can hardly stand the pain! You fall down and Horriborb grinds its teeth around your ankle until you pull it free and crawl backward!

Suddenly you back up against the streetlamp pole! You look up and then look at Horriborb and grab the streetlamp pole and hop around behind it and climb up the pole! Horriborb flies around the pole but you jump off the pole onto Horriborb and grab onto its back! Horriborb can't believe it!

Horriborb rolls its eyes back to look at you! Its eyes are starting to glow again! You look down at Horriborb's pulsating brain veins! Are you really going to bite it?

You bite the top of Horriborb's head as hard as you can!

Horriborb sinks down to the ground and closes its eyes! When you stand up and look at Horriborb you can see its brain veins aren't pulsating anymore!

It seems like you won your battle!

"Lottatax!"

What? Lottatax is still here, even though it hardly helped? You had better tell it how helpful it really was!

"Lottatax!"

It sounds like Lottatax thinks it did all the fighting! You had better tell it what really happened!

You look down at Lottatax and Lottatax glares up at you and says "Lottatax!" It really does sound like Lottatax is angry! When you crouch down in front of Lottatax it takes a step backward and its head spikes flatten back against its head and it says "Lottatax!"

"I'm sorry, Lottatax!"

Lottatax can't believe it! Lottatax looks up at you and tilts its head and says "Lottatax?" but its head spikes are still flattened back!

You can't help starting to cry!

"Please forgive me!"

Suddenly Lottatax's eyes widen and it says "Lottatax!" and scurries across the ground toward you!

You pick up Lottatax and hug it!

"Are you alright?"

Lottatax looks up at you and says "Lottat..."

What? Lottatax sees something?

You look up and see Horriborb floating above you in the air looking down at you and Lottatax! Even though you thought you beat up Horriborb, it was just tricking you!

You give Horriborb a determined look!

Lottatax sticks out its tongue and its tongue stretches up into the air and sticks to Horriborb! When Horriborb tries to get away Lottatax digs its sticky paws into the ground and Horriborb just swings around in a circle because it's still stuck to Lottatax's tongue!

What? You were waiting for Horriborb? When Horriborb swings down toward the ground it looks at you as you swing your fist into its face!

You punch Horriborb's eye and it comes loose from Lottatax's tongue!


Horriborb is fleeing the fight!


Horriborb turns and flies away toward the Bronze Valley Arena as quickly as it can!

It seems like Horriborb isn't just a flying-type mon, it's also a psychic-type mon!

Copper Citadel is three days of travel at least, meaning it'd be over a week more of our friends in captivity, and it's too much of a hot spot after that run in with Plumtree. The kid professor doesn't know Mashi is a Mon and we don't know if he can be trusted to keep the secret of two humanoid Mon. Our best option is to see what might have happened to Joe after he made his escape and what occurred after the car crash. If Diamond lost her shit over it, rumors must have spread one way or another.

Lottatax is looking up at you! It's probably because Horriborb is getting away! You look at Horriborb and then look at the Bronze Valley Arena but you don't know what to do! It seems like it would be a good idea to ask Ward to help you, but it seems like you don't have enough time to get all the way to Copper Citadel and back!

What? You want my advice? Well, why maybe you could ask someone smart for help! Do you know anyone who's really smart?

"Professor Bean!"

You didn't mean to say that out loud!

Lottatax looks up at you and asks "Lottatax?"

Even though Professor Bean is a smart human, how are you going to ask him anything if he lives in Ferropolis?

What? You just remembered Professor Bean has a videophone? You look around and see a videophone at the other end of the open area and run toward it as quickly as you can with Lottatax scurrying behind you! When you get to the videophone you dig in your jacket pocket and pull out your sack of coins and take out a coin and put it in the videophone!

You don't remember which button to push! The last time you did this, Ramster was here to help you!

Lottatax sees you looking at the buttons and licks them! Suddenly, you hear a human voice!

"What name, please?"

You give the videophone a determined look!

"Professor Bean!"

"What city, please?"

"Ferropolis!"

After a moment the screen flickers and Professor Bean appears! "Professor Bean here. Oh, it's you. Thanks again for helping me test my portable mon scanner. I've been working on some... Hey, what's the matter?" It seems like Professor Bean can see you're upset! You had better tell him what the problem is!

"In a hurry!"

"You mean you need to get somewhere in a hurry?"

You're nodding your head!

"Well, you should try an airport if you're really in a hurry! By the way, is your friend Starr around?"

What? Professor Bean thinks you should try to go to an airport? You look at Professor Bean!

"Gotta go!"

You turn around and start running toward the airport!

What? You just remembered you don't know where the Bronze Valley Airport is? You stop and Lottatax catches up with you and jumps up onto your back and says "Lottatax?"

You look around but you don't even know what an airport looks like!

It seems like you might have to ask some humans! It's a good thing there are so many humans around here! You look around again and then take a deep breath and walk up to one of the humans.

"Bronze Valley Airport?"

"Huh? The airport?" The human woman looks at you and Lottatax and says "No luck at the arena, huh?" She points her finger and says "The airport is on the other side of the city."

What? It's all the way on the other side of the city? You look back at the arena again and then nod at the human woman and start running the way she pointed.

"Thank you!"

You have to ask more humans where the airport is and by the time you get there, it's already starting to get dark! When you get to the airport you look around and see a little window like the one at the seaport in Aloi! It looks like you'll be able to buy a ticket here!

You walk up to the little window but when you get there you see it's closed! You had better do something!

You knock on the window!

Suddenly the window opens and a human man sticks his head out at you! "Whaddya want?"

You give the human man a determined look!

"A ticket!"

"Well, where ya goin'?"

"Copper Citadel!"

"Ticket to Copper Citadel is 50 coins."

What? The human man says you have to pay 50 coins to buy a ticket? You don't think you have that many coins!

"The next flight leaves tomorrow morning. Now stop botherin' me!" The human man slams the window closed!

You don't know what to do! It seems like you won't be able to get to Copper Citadel after all! You look around but you're starting to cry!

Suddenly you hear a human voice!

"Get a move on! We need to get in the air so we can get to Copper Citadel!"

You crouch down behind some big wooden boxes and see a human man next to a big balloon! It seems like the human man is getting ready to fly the balloon!

This might be your chance! You wait until the human man isn't looking and then run across the ground toward the balloon and climb inside and hide behind some boxes!

The human man walks around and around checking all the boxes. When you peek out you see a mon that looks like a fat chicken with squinting eyes and stubby wings! You don't know what kind of mon it is!

You squeeze between two boxes and hold your breath and after a few moments you hear the door close. You wait a little while and then you hear a motor and the floor starts to shake! It feels like the balloon is starting to float up into the air!

You wait a few more moments and then squeeze back out and crouch down behind the boxes and look at Lottatax. Lottatax looks up at you and then looks up and says "Lottatax!"

You look up and see one of the boxes starting to fall over! It's probably because you accidentally moved them! You grab the box with both hands but it's too heavy and it falls over onto the floor!

"Huh? Hey, what was that?" The human man looks back behind his chair and says "The last thing I need is a wild mon in the cargo hold! Skowl, go back there and take a look!"

The Skowl flaps its stubby wings and says "Skowooo!" and hops down onto the floor and starts hopping backward toward where you're hiding!

You can't help crawling backward toward the stack of boxes to hide from the Skowl but as soon as you back up, you bump into another box and when it shakes a different box falls off of it! Lottatax has to scurry out of the way as you jump at the box to try to catch it but it lands on the floor!

When you look up, Skowl is standing in front of you glaring at you!

As soon as Skowl glares at you, your legs go numb and you fall down on the floor!

[SFX: clinking, rolling noise]

What? The Cutécaptor rolled out of your jacket pocket when you fell down? You must have left your pocket open when you took your sack of coins out to call Professor Bean! You watch the cutécaptor rolling across the floor but you can't do anything because the rest of your body is also numb!

Skowl looks at the cutécaptor and says "Skowooo?"

"Lottatax!" Suddenly Lottatax jumps at Skowl while it's looking at the cutécaptor!

Skowl spins its head the other way and glares at Lottatax and then Lottatax falls down on the floor!

Skowl looks at Lottatax and then hops across the floor after the cutécaptor! It looks like Skowl is going to pick it up! You try to grab the cutécaptor but you can hardly move at all! Skowl stands in front of the cutécaptor and looks at you and then picks up the cutécaptor with its stubby wings!

You can hardly move your head! When you look the other way you see the human man standing next to the boxes!

The human man can't believe it! "A stowaway!" He looks at Lottatax lying next to you and says "And... a Lottatax? Well, that Para Eyes should keep you both from causing any trouble until we get to Copper Citadel."

Skowl hops across the floor toward the human man and says "Skowooo!"

When the human man looks down at Skowl he says "What's this?" and picks up the cutécaptor! "Looks expensive. Where did a kid like you get something like this?" The human man is looking at you!

Even though you can hardly move, you can't help your cheeks turning red! You try to stand up and give the human man a determined look but you can hardly raise yourself up with your arms!

"It's mine!"

"Well, it'll have to do for payment. You're not riding for free, you know!"

What? The human man is saying he's going to keep the cutécaptor as payment?

"Hey, I already told you, kid. No free rides." The human man looks at Skowl. "Right, Skowl?"

"Skowooo!"

It seems like he really is going to take the cutécaptor! You had better think of something else to offer him!

"I have coins!"

You didn't mean to say that out loud but the human man and Skowl are both looking at you! Even though you can hardly move, you reach into your jacket pocket and take out your sack of coins and drop it on the floor. Skowl hops across the floor toward the sack of coins and says "Skowooo!"

The human man picks it up and looks inside and then looks at you and Lottatax and says "Hey, you must be a pretty good rookie mon trainer if you're carrying this much money." He looks at the cutécaptor and holds his thumb over the circle! You try to jump up and grab it but you can't move! Finally he says "Alright, I guess I'd rather have the money than have to deal with selling this thing. Skowl, let 'em up."

Skowl says "Skowooo!" and makes a happy squinting face at you and suddenly you feel like you can move again!

Lottatax stands up and wobbles back and forth and says "Lottatax!"

When you stand back up, the human man is looking at you! He holds up the cutécaptor out of your reach and says "You know, I oughta keep this gadget too. That might teach you a lesson!"

What? The human man is going to keep the cutécaptor even though you gave him all your money? That's not fair!

You can't help crying!

"Hey, come on, now!" He crouches down next to you and says "Hey, come on, I was just joking about keeping this thing!" When you look up and wipe your eyes, you see him holding the cutécaptor out to you! "Here, see? Take it."

You take the cutécaptor and put it in your pocket and close your pocket as quickly as you can!

When you look back up, the human man is still crouching next to you! He looks at you and smiles and says "You're worse than Starr!"

"Starr?"

You didn't mean to say that out loud but he's nodding at you! "My daughter. She used to get whatever she wanted by crying."

What? Is the human man saying he's Starr's father?

"Hey, you know something, you remind me of her a little bit. The last time I saw her, she was training a water-type mon."

"Waterbear!"

You didn't mean to say that out loud either but he's nodding again! "That's right!" He looks at you closely and you can't help your cheeks turning red! "Hey, do you know Starr?"

You're nodding your head!

The human man stands up and says "My name's Ben Currant."

You hold out your hand and Ben shakes it!

"Mashi!"

"Well, why don't you and your Lottatax come sit up front where it's more comfortable. We can make room, right, Skowl?"

You sit down in the comfortable chair!

...

"Skowooo!"

Suddenly you wake up and look out the side window and see buildings underneath you! It looks like you're already above Copper Citadel!

Ben drives the balloon through the air above Copper Citadel until you see a big open area with lots of lights.

"That's the airport down below us. Hold on to your seat, Mashi!"

Lottatax looks out the window and says "Lottatax!" and then hides between you and the seat!

You close your eyes and hold on to your seat as tightly as you can and the balloon starts to sink out of the air down to the ground! You keep holding on and then open your eyes and look at Ben.

What? Ben is grinning at you? When you look around it seems like the balloon already landed!

Lottatax squirms out from behind you and looks around and then smiles at you and says "Lottatax!"

After Ben shuts off the balloon's motor he stands up and walks toward the back of the balloon and opens the door and looks at you. "Do you know where you're going from here? Copper Citadel is a rough place. There are stray mons everywhere."

"Copper Citadel Arena!"

Ben nods and looks out the doorway. It seems like he's thinking about something! He looks back at you and says "I'll be here for a few hours if you need a ride back to Bronze Valley."

You stand up and walk toward the door and look back at Ben.

"Thank you, Ben!"

"Well, at least Starr has polite friends. Come on, Skowl, let's get these unloaded."

"Skowooo!"

You look at Lottatax.

"Ready?"

"Lottatax!"

You walk away from the airport into Copper Citadel! You keep walking down the street and then after a while you turn and walk down another street!

...

You don't know where you're going! The last time you were here, you had Tamounda with you to help guide you around the city! You stop walking and look around at the human buildings.

Lottatax climbs up onto your shoulder and looks around and then looks at you. "Lottatax?" It seems like Lottatax wants to know where you're going!

You don't know what to say! You look around but you don't recognize any of the buildings. It seems like you might be lost!

"Skyyyyy!"

Suddenly, you hear a noise above you and when you look up you see a purple mon that looks like a bat with huge ears and one clawed foot! It's a Skyrap!

Look out!

Suddenly, you feel sleepy even though you just woke up from a nap! It's probably because Skyrap attacked you with Leech Screech!

You look at Lottatax!

"Lottatax! Tongue attack!"

Lottatax says "Lottatax!" and sticks out its tongue but Skyrap flutters out of the way and bites Lottatax's tongue!

"Skyyyyy!"

"I thought you knew enough to stay away from here, Cutémon."

What? You just heard that in your mind?

Suddenly, you see something move in the shadows between two buildings and then it steps out into the moonlight!

It's Ward!

You're so happy you can't contain yourself!

"Ward!"

"At least Skyrap will get some energy."

What? Ward is turning away? Skyrap flaps its wings and glares at you and Lottatax and says "Skyyyyy!"

Lottatax flattens its head spikes back and glares up at Skyrap and says "Lottatax!"

You give Ward a determined look!

"We need help!"

"You shouldn't get involved with humans, Cutémon. They only lead you into trouble."

What? You just remembered the strange glowing square on Ward's head? Even though you can't see it because he's wearing a hat, you know it's there!

"You might get something even worse if you're not careful. Go back to your home terrain where you belong."

You shift your stance and put your hands on your hips!

"They're my friends!"

"I was wrong before. You really don't know anything about humans. Maybe it's better that you came here after all."

"Please help us!"

Ward turns away again and starts to walk back into the shadows! You don't know what to do! It seems like Ward really isn't going to help you rescue your friends!

"Like I said, at least Skyrap will get some energy."

Skyrap flaps its wings and says "Skyyyyy!"

You keep running past Skyrap and Lottatax toward Ward!

"Ward!"

When you shout Ward's name he stops but he doesn't turn around! You had better say something else!

"Friends help friends!"

"I'm trying to keep you safe."

It seems like Ward still doesn't want to help! You had better do something quickly!

What? You're thinking about challenging Ward?

"I don't want to hurt you, Cutémon."

"I don't either!"

What? You're really going to challenge Ward, even though you have a strange feeling in your chest?

Ward turns around just as you jump at him and bite his arm! Ward can't believe it!

Ward's eyes flash and a wave of rippling energy knocks you backward into the air! When you land on the street you slide backward and when you look up Ward is walking toward you!

Before Ward can do anything, you kick his foot and he falls over and you jump on top of him and bite his side! Suddenly you feel Ward grab both your arms and as soon as you look up at Ward he flips you both over!

Ward squeezes both your arms so tightly that you can hardly stand the pain! You can't help crying out! When you look around for Lottatax, you see it clinging to Skyrap and biting it as Skyrap scratches Lottatax with its claw! You look back up at Ward and he looks down at you.

"Give up?"

You look around and see Ward's arm and then grin at Ward!

You bite Ward's arm and he lets go and you scramble away and stand up. Even though you're panting, you still give Ward a determined look and then run at him again!

What? Two humans wearing uniforms are running up the street toward you and Ward? It's the Copper Citadel Mon Control!

You and Ward let go of each other as quickly as you can and stand up! You both can't help taking a step backward!

The humans take a step forward toward you and one of them says "We got a call about a mon fight happening in the middle of the street!"

Lottatax and Skyrap stop fighting and Lottatax drops onto the street and takes a step backward and says "Lottatax!" and flattens its head spikes back!

"You kids are in big trouble! We're confiscating those mons and taking you to the police station!"

You and Ward take another step backward! You look around and see two other humans wearing uniforms running up the street behind you! It seems like you're surrounded!

Ward glances backward at the two humans behind you and then glances at Skyrap and then grabs your hand!

What? Ward is holding your hand? You can't help your cheeks turning red!

Suddenly Skyrap says "Skyyyyy!" and grabs Lottatax with its claw and flies up into the sky!

Lottatax can't believe it! "Lottatax!"


Ward is using Evade!


Ward holds his hand out at the humans and leads you past them but the humans don't seem to see you, even though they're looking right at you! Ward holds your hand and leads you across the street and into the shadows between two buildings and then lets go and looks back at the humans.

"We lost it!"

"Those kids just vanished!"

"That's impossible! Come on, they must have gone down this alley!" The humans all start running away from you toward the other side of the street!

Ward is looking at you!

"Now the Mon Control will be searching for me."

You can't help taking a step backward!

"We need a ride out of Copper Citadel. A fast one."

What? You just remembered Starr's father Ben said he would give you a ride in his balloon?

"We'll meet you at the airport, Skyrap."

"Skyyyy!"

What? Skyrap is fluttering down toward the ground with Lottatax? Skyrap drops Lottatax and Lottatax looks up at Ward and then looks at you and says "Lottatax?"

"This is Ward!"

Lottatax says "Lottatax..." and flattens its head spikes back and then walks in a wide circle around Ward and climbs up onto your back and peeks over your shoulder at him!

Ward leads you to the airport as quickly as he can and when you get there you can see Skyrap circling around overhead! You look around and see the balloon you rode in to get here and point at it!

"There it is!"

You and Ward walk across the open area toward the balloon and Skyrap flutters down next to Ward. When you get closer to the balloon Skowl pokes its head out of the open door in the back and says "Skowooo!"

When Skowl says that, Ben stands up from behind some big wooden boxes! "Oh, Mashi! Great timing. We're just about to lift off." When he walks around the boxes and gets a little closer he looks at you and Ward and says "Must have been some match!"

"This is Ward!"

You glance at Ward but he isn't smiling at Ben!

It seems like you might have to be even nicer to Ben to make up for it! You had better say something quickly!

"He's my friend!"

It looks like that worked! Ben nods at Ward and says "Another mon trainer? Welcome aboard! Mashi, why don't you show Ward and his Skyrap around while Skowl and I get ready for liftoff?"

"Mashi?"

You and Ward climb into the balloon and sit down and a few moments later Ben and Skowl close the door and Ben walks up to the front of the balloon and grins at you when he sits down. "Liftoff is a lot easier than landing!"

You can hear the motor and then the balloon starts to float up into the air and you float away from Copper Citadel into the night sky!

"Oh, I almost forgot. Skowl, go and get that box of dried fruit." Ben watches as Skowl hops away and then looks at you and says "This got left behind on the last delivery."

Skowl holds a cardboard box with a picture of a fruit on it out to you!

"Skowooo!"

You open the box and inside is some dried fruit! You eat a piece and then give a piece to Lottatax and then hold out a piece to Ward.

What? Ward doesn't want any?

"I don't eat fruit."

You eat another few pieces and then give Lottatax another piece and put the rest in your jacket pocket! You're not hungry anymore!

After a little while you can see it's almost morning, and a few moments later Ben says "We're approaching Bronze Valley."

What? You're already back in Bronze Valley! This balloon really is fast!

The balloon sinks down at the airport and when it lands on the ground Ben turns off the motor and stands up and walks to the back and opens the door.

You stand up and look at Skowl!

"Goodbye, Skowl!"

Skowl squints at you and says "Skowooo!"

Lottatax climbs onto your back and you walk to the back of the balloon and look at Ben.

"Thank you, Ben!"

"You're welcome. Sorry for giving you a hard time before. Hey, Mashi... if you see Starr again... tell her..." Ben looks away at the sky for a moment. "Well, you're probably busy. I'll see you later!" Ben turns around and walks back into the balloon and Skowl hops after him!

You look at the balloon and then look at Ward and Skyrap and Lottatax!

"Ready?

You start walking toward the Bronze Valley Arena! It's easy to find because you can see it from the airport! You walk away from the airport and then start walking through an open field. As you and Ward walk toward it you see some humans all looking at some papers.

Suddenly one of the humans says "A human-type mon!"

What? Does one of the humans know you're a Cutémon? You crouch down behind a flat bush and look at Ward but then you hear the humans talking again!

"No way!"

"That's what it says!"

"A human-type mon?"

"Tonight in the arena!"

"No wonder there's already a crowd!"

"It's gonna be a sold out fight!"

What? A human-type mon is going to be fighting in the Bronze Valley Arena tonight? Do you think they're talking about Auroara?

"Auroara? Are you sure that's what she's called, Cutémon?"

Ward is looking at you! It seems like he's interested in Auroara!

"Professor Ginger was looking for one."

What? Professor Ginger knows about Auroara even though Auroara was sleeping for thousands of years?

"I know a lot about that place, Cutémon. If there really is an Auroara inside, we need to get her out of that arena before Professor Ginger or any of the others arrive."

What? You just remembered Diamond has a Horriborb guarding the arena?

"I don't sense any psychic-type mons outside the arena. If you already fought a Horriborb, it read your mind. It might be hiding inside now. We'll have to wait until tonight when they open the arena doors."

After it gets dark, you and Ward start walking closer to the arena and after a little while you can see a huge crowd of humans around the front doors! It seems like the entire arena is going to be filled with humans!

What? You just remembered you don't have any money to buy a ticket?

"I can get us in with my Evade. It only works on humans, so don't count on it."

You look at Ward and nod and then Ward holds your hand again! Even though you knew it was going to happen you can't help your cheeks turning red! Ward leads you through the crowd of humans with Lottatax on your back and through the front doors past the human guards and into the Bronze Valley Arena! The humans are all walking the same direction, so it's easy to follow them past the humans collecting tickets until you get to a big doorway that leads to the seats above the arena floor!

After a few moments all the seats fill up with humans and even more humans keep coming in until you can hardly move!

Suddenly, you hear a voice over the speakers! "Welcome to the Bronze Valley Arena."

It's Diamond!

"We have a full house tonight! Of course, you're all here for the main event, and I'm not going to keep you waiting."

[SFX: spotlight switch]

A spotlight turns on and you see Auroara on the arena floor! The audience can't believe it!

"Ladies and gentlemen, one of the rarest types of all mons, fighting exclusively in the Bronze Valley Arena. She may not be very big, but she's quite a handful. We only acquired her yesterday, but I have a feeling she's going to be one of the house favorites from now on. Believe it or not, she came here on her own! She's eager to put on a great fight for us, so let's get started!"

Auroara glares up at the spotlight and then looks around and tries to stand up. It seems like she doesn't have very much energy!

"Chompex!"

What? Chompex is here?

Another spotlight turns on and you see Chompex on the arena floor!

What? You just noticed Chompex looks different?

Chompex walks forward and then opens his mouth and runs toward Auroara! It looks like Chompex is going to challenge Auroara even though they're friends!

I'm starting to get the feeling we misjudged Plumtree. He may be a bit of a perv, but he might be a genuinely nice guy (he gave the cutecaptor to Joe instead of trying to use it himself, after all). I wonder what Springblock's story is.

The guy introduced himself with the prose version of an 'UOOH' post, of course the player would think he's morally dubious. He hasn't done much to change that impression or settle Mashi-mon's fears either, so the impression will likely stick. Ginger of course has skeletons in her closet according to Ward, but she's clearly better at hiding it than Plumtree is.
Joe being a swell gentleman who loves his family, Plumtree likely does hold him in some regard and wouldn't mind having is help, but I can imagine Joe being put off if Plumtree couldn't control his urges properly in a hypothetical route where the player decided to settle down for a long term relationship via Cutecaptor.

Chompex attacks before Auroara was ready!

Chompex attacks with Tackle Bite!


Chompex jumps at Auroara before she can stand up! You can't help covering your eyes!

Suddenly you feel Ward grab your arm and when you open your eyes Ward is looking at you!

"Forget about them for now. They're giving us a good distraction. Let's find the pens."

You stand up and Ward grabs your hand again! Even though you're expecting it, you can't help your cheeksturning red! Ward leads you and Lottatax past some human guards and into a stairwell that leads down.

"We can get to the staging area from here. The mon pens should be close to the arena floor."

You and Ward walk down the stairs and peek through a door at the bottom and see a hallway with a doorway at the other end! A human man walks out of the doorway and down the hall and you close the door and peek out at him but he doesn't seem to notice you! After the human is gone you peek out into the hall again and then look at Ward and he nods his head and you both tip-toe out of the door and down the hall.

When you get to the end of the hallway you peek through the door and see a narrow room with one wall that's just made out of cage doors and bars and a balcony above another doorway at the far end! It looks like you found the mon pens!

Inside one of the small cages, you see Ramster sitting in the back of the cage playing a tiny harmonica with his eyes closed!

[SFX: blues harmonica]

"Ram-ram! Ram-ram!"

[SFX: harmonica continues]

"Ram-ram! Ram-ram!"

What? You didn't know Ramster could play the harmonica? He's really going! You almost don't want to stop him!

You peek into the cage and grin at Ramster!

"Hi, Ramster!"

Suddenly Ramster opens his eyes and looks up at you! Ramster can't believe it! He jumps up off the cage floor and runs toward the bars and reaches his paws out toward you and says "Ram-ram!"

Even though Ramster is straining as hard as he can, he can't fit between the bars!

"Tamounda!"

What? Tamounda is here too? You look down and see Tamounda underneath Ramster in one of the bigger cages on the floor and then crouch down in front of him!

"Hi, Tamounda!"

Tamounda sticks out his tongue and licks you through the bars!

Lottatax climbs up onto your shoulder and looks down at Tamounda and says "Lottatax?"

Tamounda looks up at Lottatax and then backs up away from the cage bars!

You glance over your shoulder at Lottatax and then look at Tamounda!

"This is Lottatax!"

Tamounda trots forward and says "Tamounda!" and then licks Lottatax through the bars! Lottatax can't believe it!

"Waddabeah!"

[SFX: double shell clap]

What? Waterbear and Clambreak are here too? When you stand back up you see Waterbear and Clambreak inside cages on the wall next to Ramster!

Suddenly, you hear a voice from the doorway!

"Oh, wow! It's really you!"

You turn around and see someone walking through the doorway at the far end of the mon pens!

It's Mashi!

You're so happy you can't contain yourself!

"Mashi!"

"Yeah! We just escaped!" Mashi looks back over her shoulder and says "Over here, you guys!" and then Starr and Booker walk through the doorway behind her!

Starr grins at you and says "Hey, kid!"

Booker looks at you and says "Hrmph. Took you long enough to get here!" and then looks away before you can see him smile!

You can't believe it!

"Booker! Starr!"

It seems like your human friends aren't captured anymore! You had better...

What? You think this might be another one of Horriborb's tricks?

You give Mashi a determined look!

"Is it you?"

"Yeah!" Mashi grins at you and says "Who'd you think it was?"

You thought it might be Horriborb tricking you with its Mirage ability, but it seems like it really is Mashi, Booker, and Starr! You're so happy you can't contain yourself! You run toward Mashi to give her a hug!

Suddenly Ward grabs your arm! You look over your shoulder at Ward and see him glaring past you at your human friends!

"Look again."

Effects of Mirage cancelled.

Horriborb attacks with Mirage!

It doesn't seem to have any effect!


When you look back at your human friends, they disappear and you see Rattletrap, Catscan, and Horriborb in front of you!

The three mons look at each other and then realize Horriborb's Mirage isn't working and look back at you and Ward!

Ward lets go of your arm and shifts his stance and looks up at them!

Lottatax jumps off your shoulder onto the floor and flattens its head spikes back and looks up at them and says "Lottatax!"

Rattletrap raises itself up on its tail and looms over you and Ward and Lottatax and says "Ssssssss..." and snaps its jaws!

Horriborb's eyes flash and it starts floating through the air toward you and Ward and Lottatax and grinding its teeth!

Ward and Lottatax take a step backward!

Catscan says "Catscannn..." and takes a step forward but then suddenly turns around and runs out of the mon pens through the doorway behind Rattletrap and Horriborb!

"Ram-ram!"

"Tamounda!"

"Waddabeah!"

[SFX: double shell clap]

You look back at your friends in the cages but they still can't get out!

I hear you guys.
Catscan running off means he can get reinforcements, which can make the entire operation a bust. Ward seems strong so he may be able to fight off Rattletrap even with Horriborb's influence, but things may get complicated if more players appear.
While I do want our boys back in play, I'm not sure what we can do to get them out yet, short of just picking up the cages if they're small enough. We'd need to break through the locks somehow, since I doubt the cages wouldn't have been Mon-proofed to some degree.

In either case, we don't have much time to do things here. I think delaying anyone else coming can get use more wiggle room, but probably not too much.

It seems like you had better catch Catscan before it tells anyone else that you're here! You run forward toward Rattletrap and Horriborb but then crouch down and roll underneath Rattletrap as it tries to bite you! Rattletrap turns around to try and bite you as you run out of the doorway and into another hallway but then you hear Lottatax say "Lottatax!"

Your feet almost slip on the tiled floor but then you catch yourself against the wall and chase Catscan down the hallway! Catscan looks back at you and says "Catsc-" but then it slips on the tiled floor!

You jump through the air and bite Catscan's tail before it can stand up! Catscan can't believe it!

Catscan spins around and pulls its tail out of your mouth and says "Catscannn!" and jumps at you and tries to swipe at you with its claws but you dodge out of the way and Catscan tumbles through the air and lands on its feet!

Catscan attacks you with TK Drain just like Horriborb did! Your skin feels like it's on fire again but somehow this time it hurts even more! You can hardly stand the pain! It seems like Catscan's TK Drain is even more powerful than Horriborb's TK Drain!

You fall down on your knees and Catscan crouches down and gets ready to pounce at you! Suddenly you dodge sideways and Catscan disappears!

What? Catscan just jumped into a chute in the wall that smells like garbage? You can hear Catscan's claws scratching on the metal sides as it falls down the chute but then you hear human voices behind you! You had better hide somewhere! You look around and see a pillar and hide behind it and then peek around it and see two humans!

It's Diamond and Trent!

"Now that our mystery mon is charged up from defeating that Chompex, I think it's time we gave the crowd a look at our Sailater."

What? Is Diamond talking about the Sailater that Joe captured?

Trent can't believe it! "The Sailater? Are you kidding?"

"We have to give the audience a good show."

"You've been keeping that Sailater pretty hungry. You really think that human-type mon will be able to beat it?"

"No, but she'll give them a good fight, and besides, even if she is a human-type mon she's ultimately expendable. It's that Cutémon we really want." Diamond glances at Trent and says "Speaking of, shouldn't you be guarding the mon pens in case that Cutémon shows up?"

Trent waves his hand and says "Relax! I've got Catscan watching the pens."

"Go check and make sure nothing's amiss." Diamond walks past your hiding spot and looks over her shoulder and says "I have to go to the staging area and get the Sailater ready to be released onto the arena floor."

After Trent gets further up the hallway and turns a corner you look down the other hall but you don't see any other humans so you tip-toe up the hall after him. When you get to the corner you peek out and see Trent walking further up the hallway but suddenly Trent starts talking!

"'Go check the mon pens...' I didn't sign up to clean stables!"

What? Trent is talking to himself out loud? It sounds like he isn't very happy!

"Waiting around for some-"

[SFX: loud thump]

Suddenly you and Trent hear a loud noise from the mon pens and Trent starts running up the hall toward the doorway!


Rattletrap attacks with Wrap-Up!

It really hurts Ward!


Through the doorway you see Rattletrap squeezing its tail around Ward! It looks like Ward can't get loose!

Lottatax says "Lottatax!" and jumps at Rattletrap but Horriborb swoops down and grabs Lottatax with its mouth and starts grinding its teeth!

"You little punk! What are you doing here with that Lottatax?" Trent looks at Rattletrap and says "Take him to the staging area! Catscan and I will... hey, where's Catscan?" Trent looks at Horriborb and then Horriborb's eyes rotate toward the doorway!

Horriborb is looking at you! Trent turns and sees you and so does Rattletrap!

Trent can't believe it! "It's that Cutémon! Get it, quick!" He looks at Rattletrap and says "Forget about that kid!"

Rattletrap says "Ssssssss?" and then uncoils its tail and drops Ward on the floor and slithers toward you!

Rattletrap slaps you with its tail and you go flying backward through the air and land on the floor and slide backward until your back hits the wall of cage doors! You can hardly stand the pain! You open your eyes and see Rattletrap slithering across the room toward you!

Cutémon dodges out of the way!


Suddenly Rattletrap's head lunges down to bite you but you roll out of the way just in time!

What? Rattletrap is stuck to the cage door? It seems like its fangs are caught in the bars!

Tamounda sticks out his tongue between the cage bars and licks Rattletrap!

Rattletrap's tail starts thrashing around and then it tears the cage door off of Tamounda's cage!

Suddenly Rattletrap's tail slaps Trent and he goes flying backward into a panel on the wall!

When Trent hits the wall, electricity shoots out and the lights above you flicker and then suddenly the wall of cage doors all pop open!

You turn around and see Tamounda looking inside the wall of cages. When you crouch down next to him you see the back of the cage is open! It looks like all the cages open on both sides of the wall!

What? You just realized that's how the humans get the mons from the cages into the staging area? You know what that means, don't you?

It means you can get to the staging area from here!

"The staging area!"

You meant to say that out loud! You look at your friends and point at the cage and then climb inside and out the back of the cage and look around and see a big doorway on the other side of the room! It seems like this must lead to the staging area!

What? You just noticed there's a mon detector at the end of the hallway? It looks like the sliding door of the mon entrance you saw in the Rust City Arena! You walk up to the door and it slides open!

"Come on, you! Get in there!"

[SFX: loud roaring]

What? Diamond is on the other side of the door trying to make the Sailater walk through a doorway onto the arena floor? You can see Chompex and Auroara from here!

Diamond and the Sailater both stop and look at you and then suddenly rainclouds form inside the room and lighting strikes everywhere and the Sailater starts charging across the staging area toward you!

Look out!


Sailater is challenging everyone!

Everyone is fleeing the fight!


You and your friends all scatter out of the way and the Sailater charges past you through the mon detector toward the mon pens!

Diamond can't believe it! "No, stop! Those walls aren't double-reinforced!"

The Sailater smashes through the wall and keeps going!

What? Mashi, Booker, and Starr were on the other side of the wall? When the Sailater broke a hole in the wall it opened up the room where your human friends were!

Waterbear says "Waddabeah!" and waddles across the room toward Starr!

Torrentani flies across the room toward Booker and then spins around in a circle and says "TANI!"

Booker grabs Torrentani and says "Torrentani! You're still alive!" What? Booker is starting to cry? He turns away but you're pretty sure he's crying!

"It's you!" Mashi is smiling at you!

What? You're not sure if this is another of Horriborb's tricks? You look at Ward and he glances at them and then nods at you!

"It's really them."

You hug Mashi!

Clambreak flies around Starr's head and claps twice!

Starr is smiling even more! "Clambreak!" Starr glances at Ward and says "Didn't expect to see you here."

What? You just remembered Starr thinks Ward is a human boy?

Starr looks at you and asks "What made you want to bring him along?"

You don't know what to say!

Starr looks at Waterbear and Clambreak and says "Hey, where's Chompex?"

"Get back here, human! You will answer for these... indignities!"

What? Auroara and Chompex are here? You look across the staging area and see Diamond running away from them through a doorway but the door slides closed before Auroara and Chompex can get there!

Speaking of the LOVE option, I wonder if it's possible to train it, or if it's something that's at the story's discretion. It's clear that Love isn't just blushy-crushy romance stuff and will end up functioning differently than the other two stats. We've already seen it related to de-escalation options in conflict, as well as options relating to trust.

While I'm not sure if Sailator will appreciate our affection, I agree that it's odd that Joe is the only one missing.

You turn around and look at the doorway!

What? Ramster, Tamounda, and Lottatax are here? You give them a determined look!

"Run away!"

Ramster jumps onto your shoulder and says "Ram-ram!"

Tamounda huddles against your leg and says "Tamounda!"

Lottatax climbs onto your back and peeks over your other shoulder and says "Lottatax!"

It seems like your friends are going to face Sailater with you!

You and your friends hold onto each other and look at the doorway! Suddenly you see Sailater's shadow appear! A moment later Sailater sticks its snout out of the doorway and sees you and roars! Are you really going to try to hug Sailater?

You look up at Sailater and put out your hand but then Sailater starts charging across the staging area at you!


Sailater attacks with Fin Slice!

It really hurts!


Sailater leans sideways and whips the big fin on its back through the air so quickly that a shockwave knocks you and your friends all the way across the room! Sailater stomps its feet and roars and charges across the room toward you!

You wait until Sailater is almost in front of you and then jump to the side! Sailater can't stop and smashes through the wall! You can see the night sky so you run outside as quickly as you can! It looks like you might be able to run away from Sailater!


Sailater attacks with Land Rush!


You start running away but Sailater stomps one foot on the ground and a groundquake breaks up the concrete in a ripple wave that knocks you and your friends backward off your feet! The wave of concrete rubble rolls outward in a huge cloud of dust and when the dust starts to settle you see you're standing on the edge of a chasm!

You can't help taking a step backward and starting to fall into the chasm! You wave your arms and fall forward onto the ground and look up and see Ramster and Tamounda and Lottatax!

What? They're all looking at something? You look past them and see Sailater!

Sailater sees you and stomps its feet! It looks like Sailater is getting ready to charge! You look around but you can't run anywhere because you're at the edge of the chasm!

"Ram-ram!"

What? Ramster sees something? You look up and see a balloon flying toward the arena!

Sailater looks up at the balloon and roars! You can't help looking up at the balloon but then you look back at...

What? You just noticed the back doorof the balloon is opening up even though the balloon is still really high up in the sky?

Suddenly a human on a motorcycle drives out of the back door of the balloon into the air!

You can't believe it!

It's Joe!

Joe flies out into the air on the motorcycle but then he starts to fall out of the sky!

Joe is falling straight down! You don't know what to do! It looks like he's about to crash into the ground! You cover your eyes with your...

Suddenly Joe leans forward and says "Now, Volito!" and Volito rises up behind Joe!

"VO-LITO!"

What? The motorcycle is starting to sparkle and fly through the air toward you and Sailater? It's probably because Volito is making them fly!

The motorcycle lands on the ground and skids across the concrete in front of you in a wave of sparkles and stops between you and Sailater!

Sailater can't help taking a step backward!

You're so happy you can't contain yourself!

"Joe!"

Joe stands up off the motorcycle and looks back at you. "Are you alright?"

You're nodding your head!

Joe looks at Sailater and says "Thanks, Volito."

[SFX: loud roaring]

Sailater is stomping its feet! It's getting ready to charge!

What? Joe is walking toward Sailater? Joe walks right up to Sailater and puts his hand on its snout and Sailater sniffs Joe's hand and then closes its eyes and lies down!

It looks like Sailater is taking a nap!

Joe keeps his hand on Sailater's snout for a moment and then turns around and smiles at you!

What? Suddenly you have a strange feeling in your chest? This isn't quite like the other strange feelings!

You run toward Joe and throw your arms around him and hug him! You feel Joe hugging you back and when you look up at Joe he looks down at you and grins. "I wasn't sure if Volito understood what I wanted him to do."

What? Joe drove the motorcycle out of the balloon even though he didn't know if Volito would save him? It seems like Joe really is a brave human boy! You look up at Joe and hug him even more tightly!

"Hey, let's go!"

You look over your shoulder and see Starr in the back doorway of Ben's balloon as it lands on your side of the chasm! Starr is looking at you with Booker, Torrentani, Mashi, Auroara, Ben, Skowl, Chompex, Waterbear, and Clambreak!

You and Joe let go of each other as quickly as you can and take a step back!

"Volito!" Mashi runs out of the balloon and Volito spins around in the air toward her!

"VO-LITO!"

Mashi hugs Volito and starts to cry! It seems like she's crying even though she's happy! Mashi looks up at you and says "Thank you!"

Starr leans out the doorway and shouts "Hey, come on! I don't want to hang around here any longer than I already have!"

Ramster says "Ram-ram!" and starts running toward the balloon! Tamounda says "Tamounda!" and runs past Ramster up the ramp into the balloon!

Lottatax says "Lottatax!" and sticks its tongue out at Tamounda and reels itself onto Tamounda's back! Tamounda looks back and says "Tamounda!" and stumbles and Ramster runs into Tamounda and they all roll up the ramp into the balloon!

Joe looks at Sailater and taps its snout and Sailater's eyes open and it stands up! Joe guides Sailater into the back door of the balloon with the motorcycle and Sailater squeezes through the doorway with Starr and Auroara and Mashi behind it.

What? You just realized Ward and Skyrap aren't here? You look around and see Ward in the shadows away from everyone else!

"Looks crowded. Skyrap and I are staying here for now."

It seems like Ward isn't coming with you!

"Hey kid, hurry up!"

You look back over your shoulder at Starr but when you look back at Ward you can't see him anymore! You can't help looking at the shadows for a moment but then you turn around and run toward the balloon and climb up into the doorway next to Joe, Auroara, and Mashi.

Starr looks over Sailater's tail at you. "Everybody here?" You look around and see Joe, Torrentani, Booker, Volito, Mashi, Sailater, Ramster, Tamounda, Waterbear, Chompex, Clambreak, Auroara, and Lottatax! It seems like all your friends are safe! You look at Starr and nod your head and then Starr looks toward the front of the balloon and shouts "All clear!"

It sounds like the motor is having a hard time getting the balloon back in the air! It's probably because Sailater is so big! Everyone is crowded together so tightly that Sailater can't even turn around!

After a moment the balloon starts to float up into the sky and you see the Bronze Valley Arena through the window getting smaller and smaller!

You look over at Joe and...

What? You just realized Joe is looking at Auroara's horns? Auroara notices Joe looking at her horns!

Auroara's cheeks are turning red! She glances away and looks back at Joe and says "I used to have a hat."

Joe looks over Sailater's tail at Starr and Starr says "You must be Joe."

Joe is nodding his head!

"It's a long story. I'm Starr." She looks at you and says "Hey, where's that weird kid?"

What? Starr is asking about Ward? You don't know what to say!

Starr shrugs and looks out the window and says "It's probably a good thing he didn't come with. I can't believe this thing got airborne."

"I heard that!" Ben turns around in his seat and looks back at Starr. "And now that I got this 'thing' airborne, where are we going?"

What? Ben wants to know where to drive the balloon? It seems like you should all go to Joe's house!

You open your mouth but suddenly Auroara looks at Ben and says "If Patina is northwest, our heading should be northeast until we can determine if we're being pursued."

Ben looks at Skowl and says "What do you think, Skowl?"

Skowl spins its head around and looks at Auroara and gives her a happy squint and then looks at Ben and says "Skowooo!"

Ben turns back toward the control panel and says "Northeast it is!"

You look out the back window and see Bronze Valley disappear and then notice Joe looking out the window next to you. Joe looks at you and says "That night in Rust City... after they captured us, they started driving south but when they got a flat tire I was able to escape. I tried to help Mashi and Booker but I couldn't do anything. When I got back to the Rust City Arena, they had already taken Sailater. I didn't know what to do, so I went back to my house."

What? Joe is looking at Volito? You look at Joe and he smiles at you and nods at Volito. "When I got to my house, Volito was already there. My sister told me you stopped at our house on the way to Bronze Valley. I guess Volito must have really liked my mom's cooking!"

"VO-LITO!"

"I met Mr. Currant yesterday when he was making a delivery run to the gas station in Patina. When he told me a mon trainer with a red hat named Mashi was going to the Bronze Valley Arena, I knew it had to be you." Joe looks around at the inside of the balloon and says "I'm glad we got here in time to help."

It seems like everyone was pretty lucky!

Mashi looks out the back window and says "Wow, look at that!"

When you look out the back window you see the balloon is passing by a huge tower that looks like the ruins east of Ferropolis!

What? You just saw two lights come out of the tower?

It looks like the two lights are flying toward you!

"Hey, what are those?" Starr pushes herself between you and Mashi and looks out the window at the two lights.

"Auraprimas!"

What? Auroara just said a word you've never heard before? You don't know what it means but Auroara is looking out the window with a strange expression on her face! Auroara glances at you and then looks back out the window without saying anything else! The two lights fly up into the sky toward the balloon and when they get closer you can see the two lights are really two human girls with blonde hair and gold horns!

What? You don't think they're really human girls? You might be right! It seems like they might be human-type mons called Auraprimas!

"Hey, what's going on back there?" Ben and Skowl peek over Sailater but none of your other friends can see what's happening because Sailater is in the way!

The Auraprimas fly up into the sky alongside the balloon and look at it for a moment and then look at each other and suddenly fly out of sight!

You don't know where they...

[SFX: loud metal creaking, wind blowing]

What? The back door of the balloon is splitting open even though you're high up in the air? It opens further and you see the Auraprimas are forcing the back door apart with their bare hands while they're floating behind it!

What? You just noticed their horns are glowing with a strange green light? It looks like the way Auroara looks when she has a lot of energy!

The Auraprimas force the back door all the way open and then look at you and your friends! You can't help trying to take a step back but you're already squeezed up against Sailater's tail! Both Auraprimas step into the balloon and one of them says "We have need of our lesser sister. Prima."

"Yes, Aura."

Suddenly both Auraprimas reach forward and grab Auroara and fly out of the balloon with her!

Are you really going to jump out into the open air? You try to take a step backward but Sailater is in the way and when you look back at the Auraprimas they're already further away from the back door of the balloon!

What? You just remembered Lottatax has a long sticky tongue? You look around but Lottatax is on the other side of Sailater! You look back at Auroara and the Auraprimas just as the Auraprimas drift away and then fly past the balloon so quickly that a blast of air makes the balloon tilt!

"Aaah!" Suddenly Mashi falls onto the floor and starts sliding toward the open door! You grab her hand but then you start to slide out of the balloon and grab Sailater's tail!

[SFX: roaring noise]

Sailater doesn't like it!

You pull Mashi back into the balloon and let go of Sailater's tail and push yourself backward onto the floor and then Starr and Joe push the back door closed.

Mashi is looking at you!

You look up at Ben but you can only see Sailater! What? Are you really going to climb over Sailater?

You climb over Sailater toward the front of the balloon!

[SFX: growling noise]

Sailater doesn't like it!

When you climb down from Sailater's shoulder, Ben looks over at you and asks "What happened?"

"They took Auroara!"

"What? You mean that..." Ben glances back and then looks at you. "Hey, I don't think I can do anything. I mean, we're already carrying more than we can-"

"Please follow them!"

"Hey, don't start that again!" It seems like Ben can see you're about to start crying! He looks at the control panel and then grins at you and says "You really are worse than Starr!" Ben pushes a lever all the way forward and says "Alright, here we go!"

[SFX: motor revving]

Even though Ben is driving the balloon as fast as it can go, it still can't go very fast because Sailater weighs so much! Ben checks the control panel again and says "It seems like they're heading north." You look out the front window of the balloon but you can't even see the glow from the Auraprimas anymore! You look at Ben and see him glance back and notice you and he says "We can still follow them with these." Ben taps a dial on the control panel. "Even if we can't see them with our eyes, we can use these instruments to figure out which way they're going and change our own course to match. That way, even if it takes us longer to get there, we'll know we're going the right direction."

You're don't really know what he's talking about, but it seems like you'll have to trust Ben and his instruments to follow Auroara! You crouch down next to Ben and Skowl and watch the water underneath the balloon. After a while the balloon floats over some cliffs and forest and then over the ground.

Suddenly Ben reaches over and starts tapping the instruments on the control panel and says "Hey, what's going on?"

You look at Ben!

"What's wrong?

"All of a sudden all the instruments are going haywire! I can't tell where we are!"

Just as you start to look away from the window, the clouds underneath the balloon are all blown away outward in a circle from an enormous hole in the ground by a huge energy beam!

Suddenly the energy beam swings downward toward the balloon!

[SFX: explosion]

When the energy beam strikes the balloon, everything starts to shake and the balloon starts to tilt downward!

"Skowooo!"

"Ram-ram!"

"Tamounda!"

"Dad!"

Ben can't believe it! He glances back at Starr and grins. "Five years and this is what it takes to-"

[SFX: roaring noise]

Sailater doesn't like it!

The balloon tilts even further and Tamounda and Ramster tumble over you and pin Skowl against the front window! Skowl can't believe it! "Skowooo!" Skowl looks out the window at the ground coming closer and says "Skowooo!" and starts flapping its stubby wings as hard as it can but it can't go anywhere!

Ben is flipping all the switches on the control panel back and forth and tapping all the instruments! "Hold on! This might be a rough landing!"

Suddenly the balloon tips sideways and swings around the hole in a wide circle and gets closer and closer to the ground and then you hear the sound of branches snapping underneath the balloon! The bottom of the balloon breaks free of the tree branches and then you don't hear anything but then the balloon crashes against the ground!

...

It seems like the balloon is done moving! Ben looks at you and asks "Anything broken?"

You shake your head and then look around at your friends!

"Ram-ram!

"Tamounda!"

"Lottatax!"

Ben leans over and says "How about you, Skowl?"

Skowl climbs back onto its feet and squints. "Skowooo!"

It seems like everyone is alright!

Ben opens the front door next to him and climbs out. "I've flown this route for years! That hole wasn't there before!" Ben climbs down onto the ground and walks around out of sight and then you hear the back door opening and everyone climbs out onto the ground.

When everyone is outside, Ben and Starr walk around the balloon and point at where it crashed. It seems like they're thinking about how to fix it!

After a little while they walk back over and Ben says "I think we can get her airborne, but we'll need some help." He glances toward the huge hole. "I'd like to be able to get out of here if we need to."

What? Ben is saying they need to fix the balloon before they try to help Auroara? You look around and see Booker looking at you!

Booker looks toward the huge hole and then leans on his cane. "Hrmph. He can probably spare a worker or two."

What? Booker is saying you should try to help Auroara? You look back at Booker and he glances at you and then looks away and says "Your three mons might not be enough."

What? Booker is saying you should take a human friend with you?

You can't help looking across the grass at Joe! When you look back at Booker he looks away and says "I think you made the right choice."

"Hey, kid! Keep that Sailater away until we've got everything realigned, will ya?" What? Ben doesn't want Sailater near the balloon?

Joe sees you looking at him! "Are you thinking about helping your friend?"

"Auroara!"

Joe nods. "Auroara." He glances at Ben and smiles. "It seems like they don't need me. Do you want company?"

You're nodding your head!

"What do you think, Sailater?" Joe pats Sailater's snout and it stands up! You look around for your other friends!

"Ramster! Tamounda! Lottatax!"

Lottatax crawls down from the top of the balloon and says "Lottatax!"

Ramster pokes his head out from the back door and says "Ram-ram!"

Tamounda trots out from the other side of the balloon and then looks up at Sailater.

[SFX: growling]

Tamounda runs behind you and says "Tamounda!"

You and your friends walk away from the balloon across the grass toward the huge hole. You can't see the bottom because it's too dark! You put Ramster on your shoulder and start climbing down and look up at Tamounda and Lottatax and then Lottatax scurries down the side past you!

Tamounda peeks over the edge and says "Tamounda!"

[SFX: growling]

Tamounda looks back at Sailater and says "Tamounda!" and starts picking his way down!

"Come on, Sailater! You can do it!"

You look up and see Joe trying to get Sailater to climb down! Joe starts to climb down and looks up. "See? It's easy!"

Sailater peeks over the edge and growls!

Joe climbs down further and Sailater starts to step over the edge to pick its way down!

[SFX: pebble tumbling]

What? Sailater lost its footing? Sailater is stumbling toward you and your friends! Everyone starts running down the side in front of Sailater! When you get to the bottom of the huge hole you all scatter out of the way and Sailater lands on the floor!

[SFX: booming noise, roaring]

Sailater doesn't like it!

What? You just realized you're on the floor of a hallway? This place looks like the place where you found Auroara!

You and your friends walk down the dark hallway. Even though you've been in a place like this before, it's still scary! You're glad Joe is here with you! After a while you see a faint glow ahead and...

What? Ramster is pointing up at the two hanging glass globes? You look up and see eyes glaring out of the dark at you and then two strange mons that look like gooey black blobs sink down into view!

What? You just remembered you brought Joe and Sailater with you? You grin and look at the doorway!

Sailater charges into the room toward the strange mon in front of it! The strange mon can't believe it!

You run forward through the doorway toward the glowing light and suddenly you hear voices! You stop and tip-toe forward and then you and Joe peek around the corner into a huge room and see an enormous glowing shape floating in the middle of the room! It's even bigger than Sailater!

What? You think it looks like the strange glowing square on Ward's head?

The Auraprimas and Auroara are standing with their backs to you! It seems like they don't notice you!

"There has been an intrusion here, Prima."

"A human has been prodding at this captured Vitium, Aura."

"We must destroy it before it fully reawakens, Prima." One of the Auraprimas glances at Auroara and says "Auroara, use your-"

Suddenly the Vitium glows brighter and a line of white light passes over Auroara and the Auraprimas from their heads to their feet! The Auraprimas can't believe it!


Vitium attacks before Auraprima1 was ready!

Vitium is using Replicate!


The line of white light disappears and then a glowing white shape forms in the air in front of one of the Auraprimas and turns into something that looks like a glowing copy of the Auraprima made of light and then a beam of energy shoots out of its hands that looks like the beam of energy that hit Ben's balloon! Another light appears in front of the other Auraprima and in front of Auroara!

The copy of Auroara doesn't look very friendly!

When Sailater's teeth scrape the Vitium the surface begins to spark and then Sailater growls and bites down even harder and the Vitium starts to spark even more!

Suddenly the Vitium flashes and Sailater disappears and then reappears upside-down above your head!

Vitium's not just strong, but it's got a lot of tricks up it's sleeve. To get Auroara out of there we'll need to distract it since it seems like it can just teleport us back it it's mad enough. Ramster and Sailater are strong, so they may be able to keep it's attention. Mashimon is brave and doesn't leave her friends behind so of course she'd stick around too, even if she has to bite.
Joe is a normal human so of course he can't fight, but he can grab Auroara since she and the Auraprimas are out. If we want to be extra nice we can have Tamounda and Lottatax (if conscious) help the twins too.

Just putting that out there for the moment. I want to see what other voters say before rolling.

Every trainer we've met this far doesn't use a specialized device to bond with their monsters, with Joe specifically capturing Sailater with a rope and his nerves. I assume that being able to unlock Mon abilities is something that just happens with time and familiarity. The Cutecaptor apparently fast tracks that, but it also does other stuff we don't want.

Speaking of that, Mon ownership is vague in general. Ramster initially only listened to us as a favor, but he is pretty gung ho about it now, with Tamounda and Lottatax being on board too. I don't think our Cutemon can 'own' other Mons like the humans can, but I'm sure the players consider them as our Mons, and there is some bond there.

Even though you aren't sure, you look at Joe and nod your head!

Joe looks at the cutécaptor again and then touches the circular groove and everything around you disappears!

It seems like you must be inside the cutécaptor even though you don't remember going into it! You were a little nervous about being captured by the cutécaptor but it seems like it's really not scary after all!

What? You just realized Joe is on the outside of the cutécaptor? Even though you feel like you could stay inside the cutécaptor forever, you can't wait to help Joe! After all, he was your first friend, and it really does seem like he's your best friend!

What? You just realized you can tell Joe is thinking about releasing you from the cutécaptor? Even though it feels like you've been inside it for a while, you know you've only been inside it for a moment!

Suddenly you look down and realize you're on top of the Vitium again! It seems like Joe released you from the cutécaptor! You look down at the Vitium and...

You can't help crying out! When you open your mouth you feel your teeth getting bigger and sharper! You can hardly close your mouth because your teeth are so big and sharp! It seems like it would feel nice to bite something!

What? Now you have another strange feeling? Your hair is getting longer and longer and waving around on its own! It seems like it would feel nice to wrap your hair around something! Your baseball cap comes off your head because your hair is waving around so much!

What? The strange feeling in your head is getting even worse? It feels like the tiny fangs on the sides of your head are getting bigger! You really don't know if you like it!

The fangs on the sides of your head keep growing bigger and bigger! They keep getting bigger and bigger until they're hanging down over both sides of your face!

What? Now that it happened, you really do like it? You look down at the Vitium and then look at Joe! When you look at Joe you feel happier than you ever have before!

Joe looks up at you clinging to the top of the Vitium and shifts his stance and shouts "Cutémon! Use Overbite!"

You can't help crying out!

It really hurts Vitium!


You plunge your fangs downward at the Vitium and its surface begins to spark!

You hear Joe shout "Sailater! Use your Jaws attack!" and then you hear Sailater roar and suddenly you hear sparking next to you!

"Ram-ram!" You and Sailater both get knocked above the surface when Ramster strikes the Vitium from underneath!

"Ah-ah-ax!" It sounds like Lottatax is trying to bite the Vitium!

"Tamounda!" What Tamounda is even here? You feel a thump shake the Vitium! It seems like Tamounda is using his Tail attack!


Vitium is using Shift!


You open your eyes and see Sailater disappear and reappear across the room but Sailater stomps its feet and charges back toward the Vitium and jumps at it and locks its jaws around the edge of the Vitium again!

Suddenly Tamounda appears in the air in front of Vitium!

Tamounda stretches his tongue out and licks the Vitium and it starts to shudder! It seems like the Vitium can't concentrate because it didn't like being licked! This might be your chance! You look at your friends!

When you bite the edge of the Vitium with your Overbite attack you feel your fangs sink into the surface because your attack is starting to crack the surface!
