Last time we nearly went through a whole year, the tribe starting off from Canyon tribe and quickly becoming a tribe that strives to advance progress more then any other. Taking a stray spawn he is now an adult an recently became a warrior, taking his trials in the caves. A strange group you took in has also given your tribe its first shaman, trained by the Grand shaman who you recently rescued and is waiting at your tribe for it to be safe to travel.

Last week your tribe witnessed a Altfylis being dragged off by a hunter. Your shaman told the Grand shaman they ignored your tribe because its too small like the fish cast back from your nets. Your tribe rests this week, Hunters and their beasts spotted a few times but still they ignore the tribe. Its making the older villagers nervous, the young ones getting overconfident. With time to simply mingle and work on personal task. Jewelry made from shells and bone and Furum silk soon adorn many in the tribe as necklaces and bracelets. Clothes that were wearing out are now repaired with patches cut into abstract symbols of animals.

Stirred by his success the openeyed one proposes an idea at the start of the village councils meeting to decide what to do this week. Gasps filling the communal den as he proposes finding out if the Hunters can be hurt. The council looks to the Grand shaman her eyes wide. She can't force your tribe to do anything but many would do as she asked, trusting her guidance in most situations. She brings up the obvious danger and the lack of immediate reward. Even if you killed one what then?

It’s now the 4th week of Despair.

Is it any surprise that the vast majority of villagers refuse? The openeyed one accepting the vote… for now. His hands kept busy as he assisted in the making of more bricks. A nice supply built up, enough to start fortifying the base of your scaffolding. Three of your women also reported that they have laid spawn, they were well fed the six weeks they were carrying the young and all three spawn are healthy as reported by both our shaman and spawn tender.

Your village has eaten through its fresh supplies with plenty still stored away. The fortification of stone bricks held together with a mix of the powder leftover from carving, and the sticky substanced gained from heating the bark of the sour fruit tree. The time it took should show its worth come Discord when the storms that might have made your scaffolding bend and break can’t.

The point isn't immediate reward the point is starting the first steps to eliminating the threat for good. If we can figure out a way to hurt one we can start figuring out how to hurt many, or maybe they'll avoid us if we seem to dangerous, it's what pretty much any other predator will do.

More bricks get carved from the rock left over from digging into the cliff face with plans to dig more out a bit away from the village when those run out. The group gets talking about what the bricks will be used for, with some saying to fortify the rest of the scaffolding while others argue that no one has used bricks to build that high, wouldn’t the weight sink into the soft ground too much? Others want to build flood walls to prepare for the flood season. The oldest among them say that such walls like what Cavern use need a lot of upkeep once a cycle, as the fast floods erode the wall too much. Making it so you rebuild half the wall each year.

Maybe more important than those discussions is that a Teft has left the water to join the working population. Bringing your working population to nineteen, this raises your community by one as they celebrate. This new member can’t recall what the sun looks like as early memories are quickly lost as they age. It's a strange time to leave the water, those who reach working age at this season are associated with being reckless and overly brave.

Your new worker lacks shelter and currently is sleeping in the den used as a meeting hall. You do have enough clothes.

Den digging is important work that must be done periodically as the tribe grows. Most den’s start out simple, after all they are simply places to sleep. Unremarkable holes with dirt walls and pelt or cloth piled on the ground. As an Altyflis grows comfortable in its home they will spend their free time carving out indents to sit with a friend or smaller ones to store jewelry or other personal items. Your tribe isn’t quite at 20 yet but with the extra hands you manage three new dens. The stormy season of Discord is approaching and with it the air grows warmer.

The storms of Discord are different from those of Downpour, they are dry and made of harsh dust. The clouds above grow dark but refuse to let loose a steady rain instead crackling with angry energy that lights up the sky and creates loud booming sounds. But that's the future.

While gathered to discuss next week's goal the endless night gives way to a sky full of bright falling lights that somehow never reach the ground. As far up as the points of light that have always filled the sky. This event creates a mix of emotions. Your shaman says they dreamed of this but had no idea what it meant. The Grand shaman declares it a good omen and your people celebrate the good fortune giving you 5 community.

(at 100 community you will be able to once a season roll twice on an event and use the highest roll.)

Your tribe spends the time watching the sky on and off, the endless night of the season allowing lots of time to observe it. It’s so much more alive than first thought. Strange lights, celestial objects that seem to slow drift a bit each night. The brighter sky fire’s draw on the imagination. The older members tell stories of their most ancient ancestors. Those from the first lake, before they were scattered the land broke and shifted. Your shaman gets to learn about the stars' positions and how they affect the meaning of dreams.

It’s growing quite warm, your people removing their heavier winter clothes with each passing day and each day more sunlight pours into the canyons for longer. The immediate danger of the Hunter’s is less, their unsettling glowing seen less and less on the cliff tops. But with the return of light comes the change of weather. Rumbling can be heard far off where dark clouds strike the ground.

It’s safer to go out looking for food though you still have quite a lot and many animals are still hidden away. The Grand Shaman borrows the Open eyed one to take her into the caves where she gets two of the slugs that grant visions. After consuming them she tries to determine if she can make the journey back to Canyon or if she is needed elsewhere.

In a few weeks Wandering will be stopping by and she could go with them but they will be heading to Cavern and her vision tells her to go to Plateau. It would take you two weeks to take her there not counting your return trip and that's if you travel on top of the plateaus where high winds could throw you to your death. Traveling in the canyons is safer but longer. If you don't take her she will take off on her own.

It's time for the meeting to decide this week. Last week your people rested, gaining 2 community and readying the village for the bad weather and bonding. Repairing the warmer season's clothes cost you 10 crafting supplies.

The escort team

Getting a ways down the canyons at J10 the escort team has to decide what route to take. Going up the plateau would save 4 days of travel both ways but risk the high winds and has a similarly risky canyon gap you’d have to cross. If you keep following the river it's safer overall, only getting up high when necessary.

The tribe takes it easy, a young tribe member helping an older member dye a blanket. The tribe only has a few dyes, red and yellow and when mixed orange. Other than that colors come from the hide of the animal the hide is from. Cavern gets green clothes from using a thick green substance in their Furum silk to help it keep out water. The red dye comes from a kind of spider and the yellow from a flower. Covering her hand in the red dye she tests it against the wall of the communal den. Her hand print left behind.

The escort team

Going low is the safer choice, the escort team feeling vindicated in the choice as the strong winds blow an unprepared Yip off the plateau above. It makes a spine shivering snapping noise as it hits the ground. No reason to waste a good meal, the team ends up eating it.

The canyon down is especially thin, forcing the group to swim. The leathery winged predators are out of hiding and ravenous from their hibernation, their four intense eyes waiting for the group to leave the river. They have no opportunity though as another thundering storm kicks up and forces them back into the canyon's cracks and crevices.

That storm doesn’t let up creating heavy coalescing sandy winds. It's impossible to see through the whipping sand. The group is forced to stop frequently, slowing them down substantially as they follow along the canyon's sides so they don’t get turned around.

Sticking close to the village and gathering from the river as it teems with freshly hatched Eleks. Leaving most of them alone, their see-through bodies are hard to see in the clean river waters. Save for their solid inner workings. Their small snapping mouths are only big enough to pinch. The larger brown four finned fish are what most of the food you bring back are. Once you're away from the edge the wind shouldn’t be too dangerous but there's quite a lot of ledge to skirt along. In sight of their position, the dark clouds flash and rumbles echo through the canyons.

Push through the danger (moderate dice roll)
Wait for it to be calm (lose even more time, and roll an easier dice roll)

if we wait the storms will just get worse

Art is not completely unfamiliar to the Altfylis, the patterns on their clothes are decorative. But inspired by your youngest members, your people are experimenting with applying the paints and dyes to the walls of your village. Not all the colors stick well, others stain your villagers hand for days. By the weekend it's mostly messy geometric shapes like the clothing patterns but alongside them are crude images of Altfylis and animals.

Gained 4 community.

It’s now the 5th week of Discord. How to spend this week?

Explore/forage (give a coordinate quite risky this time of year on the plateaus, safer in the canyons.)

The escort team

Pushing through seems best, the storm could get better but may just get worse. Tying rope around the teams waists and making the climb up goes well. The ledge above is thinner than they thought it would be. But for a while it blocks the wind allowing them to make it rather far before the wind changes direction. Thunder echoing through the canyons. But it's not enough, it only takes one slip up for one of the group to fall and be pulled off the edge. The rest of them struggled to pull them back up.

Roll a d100 +15 needs to be above 40. Only the first roll counts.

QM? You still alive there?
>>
It's been two weeks with no word. I'm guessing the Quest is sadly dead.

Looks like QM is sick with the usual case of Flakoma
