You are Hector, son of Richtor, Grandson of Gabriel. You have numerous titles :
The well endowed, Blessed Champion of the crystal dragon Sidridijika, Errant Banneret of Equitaine's Kingdom, the Mother's chosen, Soup pocketer
Heir of the Tumulus' sleeper, Griffin-tamer winner of the two battles of Griffinmount, survivor of the Tragedy of Brno, Avenger of the Hunt.

You volunteered for one more year of Errance - sheer dedication for the kingdom, roaming roads to clear presence of bandits and greenskins;
help a village assaulted by the local menace, answer the call to arm and take place in the front line of the battles of the King.

Your current group is made of :
>Guillot
Minstrel, learned bardic magic, fight with a sword or a sling. Met Hector at the beginning of his Errance.
The king knows him on a first-name basis, though his exact birth rank is irrelevant as an Errant.
>Renée
Young girl native from the Empire. Suffered atrocities under a band of outlaw acting under the banner of a white dragon.
Joined an Errant knight pack disguised as a boy, that eventually lost its leader (and got saved by Hector) in an assault from greenskins.
Hector think there's a possibility she might like him, maybe. He's not sure. Well, she never told him, so there's no way to know.
She reacted less bad than expected at the discovery of Hector's link with a dragon though.
>Claire
Got knightlyhood beat into her by her Father. Loves to cook, especially with various bits coming from monsters.
Hector think there's a possibility she might like him, maybe. He's not sure. Well, she told him several time, but she's just teasing him, right?
>Tyler
KNIGHT FIGHTING WITH A DOUBLE-BARELLED RIFLE WHICH IS USED TO PROPEL LEAD BALLS USING BLACK POWDER.
NEVER TAKES AWAY HIS HELMET, AND IS KEEPING MOSTLY TO HIMSELF - DESPITE USUALLY BEING LOUD
>Raymond
Pickaxe knight. Knows how to read, really interrested in siege warfare - can't get him to stop rambling about dwarven fortifications.
His strange mannerism seems to point at him coming from the Empire - although he denies it heavily.
>Ryner
Light-armored, fight with a shortaxe and a sword. Hector does not know him well yet.
>Julius
Heir of the Carnerion family, exhibes his family's crest on his shield and donned the skull helmet, not giving a damn about Errance etiquette.
A skilled fighter, with a psychopatic side, Hector does not know yet if he's prone to backstab, a battlefield fanatic threatening everyone close or a reliable ally.
>Crane
The new beastmaster of the pack. Where Allen mastered hounds, Crane is a bowman using pigeons for communication.
This is also a new addition to the pack that Hector does not know well.
>Vaillant
Last, but not least, is Vaillant. Griffin youngling, he and Hector share a bond. He's grown quite a lot, almost reaching the size of Sidridijika. Still too small to be mounted.
>>
After a few days of celebration, Hector's new pack heads north. The mission : a dragon hunt.
After a wildly uneventful week in the heart of the kingdom, with travel at the fast pace of around sixty kilometers per day, you reached the blessed plains : a geographical feature sheltered by the empire on the east, the capital on the south, several dwarven hold on the west and the marchs on the Nord.
Tonight, you rest in a small village outside of the main roads - Errance is not about taking the shortest and most efficient road. Gathered in a tavern, Guillot is entertaining both the squad and the villagers with...

It smell likes burned fat, ale, and smoke in the Inn. Not sweat, for once.
The Errants ate an hearty meal - boiled cabbage, turnips, carrots, with pork knuckle and sausages.

The air is surprisingly void of conversations and laughter. A few people drinking, long shadows projected by flickering torches on the rough-hewn walls. Even the place owner looked reluctant to accept them for the night - but money remains the most universal language.

Guillot step up, standing on the table.
"Gentlemen, allow me to entertain you for the night.
- With one of those song we heard again and again and again?
- Of events or impossible feats done long long ago with all witnesses dead?
- Well, if the classics doesn't meet the favor of your sight, I can propose you songs of my making... "

Geste of the Errants, from Minstrel Guillot :
>Dam against the green tide :
A collection of skirmish against a Waaag, saving a county from the invasion.
" As if any of you fought orcs outside of your dreams...
- Tough crowd, Eh? Well, for next one, you could check official proclamation of our claims...

>Mankind's shield :
Tale of a battle against demons, highlighting the various feats of Arms of the knights, at the cost of their compagnon Eugene
" Everybody knows demons are not real. The court clerks are lying, under order of the King!
- Next song is about events that happened across the whole Kingdom, I sincerely hope you could deny that one happened here too.

>The backbone of the Kingdom :
How both squad united after the errant tournament to repel the Tomb King attack
" So you're telling us we all owe you our life, right? Bollocks.
- ...Moving on.

>The third battle of Griffinmount :
How knights, archers, and lowborns (definitely not goblins) repelled an undead army near Griffinmount.
The battle was won, at the cost of the life of Boniface.
" Griffinmount? Never heard of bummfuck nowheres "

>A dance with demons :
The invasion of an empire-border castle, overtaken by vikings and cultist, concluding in the execution of a demon thanks to Hector Inheriting Boniface's technique
"You knights have nothing better to do than fight for empire problems? Or maybe you like having your feats of arms unverifiable? "

Hector's patience grows thinner and thinner.

>Critfail of Guillot

The tension in the room is palpable, and you can feel it building with every passing moment. Guillot decided to keep his merry-happy facade going. That seemed to be a poor choice, making the villagers more and more seething. Maybe he didn't appreciated the critics on the songs - in particular, the disrespect facing the losses of Eugene and Boniface seems to have tilted him, and his performance became more and more daring, taunting the villagers as weakling hiding in the safety provided by warriors, oblivious of how bad things could have gone at every opportunity that rhymed.
Hector feels danger boiling.
"Put that poor cithare down, it did nothing to deserve such bad placed touches! Instead, pick a hoe -not the skanky kind of other villagers that swoon over your metal that is, the tool - and work for one day of your life!

There it goes. Jeers. Next step will be someone taunting them about wearing heraldry - as if they even understood etiquette - and Julius painting the whole town red with blood.

"Well, we are off to kill a dragon. If you want to be a witness feel free to come along.
Or are you too cowardly for that? It's easier to hide behind excuse isn't it?"

>Crit fail
that's how you built it in your head. Reality, however...
"Well, we're off to kill a dragon
- A dragon? Where, haven't heard of a dragon this side of the Kingdom for years!
- Near the border.
- You mean on the other side? Why are you killing a dragon menacing the Empire - The Empire! Long-time rival and ennemy! and far away - never me or any of the lad put a foot there!
- Humanity blood is red no matter where you're born on the map.
- Yeah, 'specially here where our hard-earned gold is taken in taxes for your steal, to parade around villages drinking our wine and eating our meat, for so-called protection."
Hector remain silent, attempting to get the footing back in the conversation.
What if... Me and the lads... We decided we don't need such "protection"? Neither the knights, the barons, or the King did us any good.
The man forage in his pocket while talking. Danger. The time for diplomacy is over. The knight lefts armor and weapon in the bedrooms. The peasant outnumber you three to one. Hector decided to...
>They want a fight? We'll indulge. Fisticuffs will put villagers less at risk, at the cost of the risks for the knights themself
>They want a fight? They'll taste steel. Flip the table, open a pathway to the rooms, use torches and chairs as makeshift weapons to cover your mate, and let the seditious peasants face the wrath of attacked knights.
>Maybe a Miracle can sooth the situation. If it fails, it puts Hector at risk.

>They want a fight? They'll taste steel. Flip the table, open a pathway to the rooms, use torches and chairs as makeshift weapons to cover your mate, and let the seditious peasants face the wrath of attacked knights.
Why do you think the dragons are in the border and not inside the kingdom you fucking idiots?
It's funny how the dice make the Equitainian peasants act like the lore and be consistently dumb, like trying to stone dragons and now treating superhuman knights
>>
>>5661564
>>They want a fight? They'll taste steel. Flip the table, open a pathway to the rooms, use torches and chairs as makeshift weapons to cover your mate, and let the seditious peasants face the wrath of attacked knights.

Yes..... because a DRAGON can not just simply fly over the border whenever it wants to to avoid the wrath of whatever kingdom is coming for it.

The low-born indeed grasped a serrated blade, thrusting for Hector's gut. Anybody would have been it by that sucker punch. Good thing Hector isn't anybody.
>Training : +2 for CQC roll.
Hector breath in, saving his skin for the couple centimeter that would have turn that fight in a disaster. The wood tanker circled of metal still in his hand, he brings it downward in a diagonal motion, meeting the temple of the peasant on the way down.
"Flip the table, to our rooms!"
>Leadership : failure.
The knights took to long to react. The group is split, Hector's strategy won't work. Most knight are isoled, barring Renée and Claire, holding their ground back to back. Julius and Ryner are doing ok - the former with a broken plate, the latter with the long dagger he always keep in his boot.

>17 : Success

Ryner was on the verge on finishing is opponent - a first dagger pummel blow to the head of a ruffian, a second one held in choke with the blade on the throat. He let go the peasant once he sees the situation settled.
Julius, however, send another punch, jump on his opponent, ready to bash his head in.
"Julius. I said stop."
A look around, and social pressure does its job. Getting up on his feet as if nothing happened, Julius approaches Guillot.
"I want a song.
- What?
- Why don't I have a song about my prowess when Hector got two full gestes and a theme song?
- 'Cause I bringed a poet around to take notes?
- Well, now I have a poet around too. Make me a song."

This surreal banter concludes the night, with surprisingly no casualties. Errant leave the village the next day, leaving behind them a slightly better opinion on knights and the kingdom. Still, Hector feel this bottled-up peasant feelings could turn easily in rot inside the heart of the Kingdom.

That was a surprisingly fruitful week. Kreenio made good progress in behaving. You had the greatest difficulty in the world to get him to cast the spell again - he was scold because of that, after all. Marksmanship, however, is making tremendous progress. Under supervision, the Skink learned how to aim - and when provided with bolt, even strike more often in the bullseye than outside the target. Trigger discipline is not aquired yet though.

No need to rush, maybe take them to a test drive hunting, but when we go take back our fort, we should prepare as many good cards as we can, to completely annihilate them (and for that, many ranged units to deal with the giant bats will be essential, as we don't want a repeat of last time).

Infiltrator instincts would have required the young dragon to play all friendly, building kinship and camaraderie among fellow oarsdrows. But, well, this is drow. Such an act would have been seen as weakness and need for allies, turning into bullying and attempt to take Edwyrd.

Trying to fix one relationship by ruining another is foolish. Plus, fixing our relationship with the dwarves isn't her job, so I'd say:
>Are quite eager to beat the crab lice out of the fully haired bodies of the sharp tough fuckers. Plus, your glamour won't incriminate dragons, so it's a win-win.
If conflict breaks out, she fights for "her crew", but if possible, without turning into dragon.

The ship close distance under the drum's beating, pushing the oarselves in a transe. The boarding crew gather on the ship's nose. The dragon in disguise is ready. Spinning a grappling hook from the foremast, she launches it on one of the chimney of the dwarven steamboat. Guided just by a little bit of invisible magic, the rope coils and knot around the target. The drow-gon swings, slashing at the throat of a bearded nuisance on the way, flip, land on the helmet of a second dwarf. Jumping, dashing, ducking, Throdenslemoni is an untouchable ghost on the dwarven deck.
>Choice-based trait acquired : Swashbuckler - Dancing on the battlefield, can disengage an opponent on a success in addition to wound him. Also, allow free success for swinging on ropes or other chandelier
And while they focus on the slippery short-sword fighter, more and more drow board. It is inevitable that dwarves start turning their chainmailed back to the day's protagonist. Fatal mistake. Mail can do only so much against stabs, nevermind force-propelled ones.

The foe are falling, one after an other. The survivors are mentally broken - the throat-slicing of your captain as the first blood of a fight tend to do that to people, no matter the race.

And now you put in my head the idea of having a "secret church" with that name...
"The heck is a secret church?" I hear you ask, and while godhood is our ultimate objective, with light and salvation as the base, and a church dedicated to us would obviously focus on that, kindness, healing and such, one can't protect everything with kindness alone, thus, some branches of the church, or a "completely unrelated" church, that secretly functions as an "order of assassins" to "remove opposition" would probably be necessary (even if very far in the future).

"No quarter. Kill all of them, loot what can be, sunk their ship.
- Well, dear, this is not exactly what we'll be doing. Leave that quartet to me."

Four unharmed dwarves are given to the captain, while you explore the ship for plunder.

>90
Your own loot is not made of metal, weapons or armor. You found a book - pages made of thin stone slices, protecting them from water, binded with what appeared to be a leathered-wrap metal wire, the stone pannels are engraved in dwarfish - that you still don't know how to read, mind you. Their are various schematics engraved on the panels, making you stop and take this as your reward : this is a treaty on steam engines.
Books are a way to transmit knowledge without an expert. Most able to write one doesn't want to - it takes their expertise away after all, making them worth less. They are usually ordered by government against hoard of moneys and deeply protected as holding the unique knowledges of one species.

Back on the deck, you are back in time to witness the slicing at tendrils of dwarves, then thrown into the ocean. Death by drowning, carried away from the stonebed and bodies feeding the fishes.

The four spared one? A cutlass caught their right-hand finger at half length, then thrown into a lifeboat.
"We are the dread elves. A lost ship? Well, it could be scurvy, tempest, ocean swallowing it whole. Sending those crippled back home? That's sending a message."

The elves proceed to weld shut the steam exhaust using a dash of elemental magic, then quickly leave the ticking bomb of a boat toward new pillage.

Pic related.

However, doppelganging them will require observation of the captain to learn behaviors (how they normally act) and relationships (do they treat everyone equally? Is there anyone who would more easily see through the substitution?), not to mention mimicking their fighting style, among other things probably.
It's probably safe to say that the way lemoni made quick work of the dwarves earned her some respect from the crew, so ideally, she should build up on that, to the point where the captain would feel threatened and challenge her themself, that way, if she wins, I don't think the rest of the crew would have any problems with accepting her as the new leader (alternatively, gain enough influence to convince the crew that the captain's decisions are foolish and they should be removed. . . Well, assuming lemoni will even be there long enough to do any of that).

Also, is the captain also female?

>Complete failure

That week is certainly the worst of your life.
No progress from the lizards whatsoever, no time to hone any skills for you and agathe, it's been a month you've been lizardsitting in the small cave, letting Agathe use her magical items for supply runs.

They will never be real persons. They have no brain, they have no wit, they have no free will. They are common reptiles-men twisted by drugs and magic into a crude mockery of nature’s perfection.
All the “progress” they make is painstakingly slow and half-hearted. Behind your back your siblings are mocking you. You're getting disgusted and ashamed of them, your “friend” the white skink might laugh at your gullibleness to train the untrainables.
And what's the point? Men are utterly repulsed by them. Thousands of years of evolution have allowed men to sniff out frauds with incredible efficiency. Even lizard who have “free will” act uncanny and unnatural to a sentient species. Their brain structure is a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to get a drunk guy discuss with one of your pupil, he’ll turn tail and bolt the second he gets a sight of their creepy, toothy grin.
You will never be happy so long you're in this cave. You wrench out a fake smile every single morning and tell yourself it’s going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the depression creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight.

Yeah, it's too much to bear - you have to get out of this cave.

"You're having dark thought, light embodiment"

What you wanna do first?
>Get Sidridijika out of the cave (To do what?)
>Play Hector's dragon hunt
>>
>>5676305
Go out there. Murder some necromancers blwo of some steam from your frustration and maybe force them to expend more ressources to keep their magical supply lines open.

Contribute to the Wareffort in your own way and get some time to yourself. Maybe you can even add something valauable to your hort.

invent Icecream with your cold affinity and Agathes Ice Magic and eat a Dragon sized tub afterwards.
>>

It's good to stretch your wings.
Although, the territory of the undead is really starting to play on your nerves - maybe a reason you unconsciously kept yourself locked in a cave so long? The air is dusty in your nostril, water is rough in your throat, food is tasteless. But worst of all, the colours. The environment itself seems desaturated - like colours have their essence sapped toward greyness. You, a being source of light, feel it interract wrongly with your primordial essence.
In other words, you will get weaker the more you stay here. The cave shielded you somewhat of that effect so you didn't noticed it, but now you're bored out of your mind, you won't accept staying there lizardsitting anymore.

While you're flying closer to the ground, you noticed something - that noticed you too. Decharnated limbs points to your position in the sky, a eyeless skull tries to cover its inexistant pupils from your natural brightness.

>60 : undead encounter - pack of zombie (number of opponent is rolled)

Back into Griffinmount...
Today is the weekly Pit-fight challenge. The day of gathering of all the dwelver, usually separated to avoid friction and incidents due to culture clash.
The undead above are sending probing zombies in the maze, usually quickly dispatched by goblins.

Jack steps in the arena, his eyesight adapting to the relatively more enlightened environment.
The green wyrm is on a makeshift throne, with the child-dwarf and the unbreakable goblin at his side. Two of the Three he never beat either in training or real match. Jack shudders. He knows who his opponent will be.
A hand rests on his shoulder, instantly appeasing him.
"Don't worry, Nimloth ristadan. I'll patch you back.
- No faith in me winning?
- Faith has nothing to do with the fact you're a worst fighter than the orc."

There he is. The Berserker known as Cargnorm. A vicious grin split his sharply-tooth faced
"Ya vil get krumped, humie
- Fighters, raise your weapons"
The lizard focus, coating the woodsticks in that curious cristal-like blades - an axe for himself, a nasty looking claymore for the Ork.
The cristal explode upon hit, leaving big bruises and a color mark. Hurt like hell, but less than real blades. Jack brings his hand to his forehead - he thought his skull was split in half last time the frightening fighter culled him.

The elf step back. The Ork rushes. Jack waits. At the last second, he steps forward, in a diagonal direction, to dodge and attempt a strike.
He's met with a green bony knee to the midsection. But months of fight and training turned the already-strong lumberjack into a battle-hardened fighter. Using his axe as an hook, he catches on the support leg of the greensking, pulls.
Axe head breaks, leaving a brown mark on the calf. The ork fells.
Sportmanship won't get him anywhere. Jack learned at his own expense that groin was not a critcally painful spot for greenskins. He aims for the throat.
Cargnorm sweep the human leg, pulling him in a crushing embrace
"Com closer humie. Imma sure ya ear taste wanderful"
Those teeth are getting closer.
>78 for Jack
"Use your head, Jack!"
Allright. Orks are strong, but a bit dumb. There's a weak spot to his technique.
Found it.
Jack headbash the teeth of the berserker. He wrinces as the pointy bones graze all over his skin, blood clogging his left eye. The axe head enchantment have came back, and the grasp have weakened. Jack steps away, felling his axe on the trunk-sized neck of his opponent.
Jack wipe the blood. Eye have not been touched - the cut is on his eyebrow level. Good.

>66 for community-buiding
The spectator cheers. That goblin giving him thumbs-up... He wrecked his nose two weeks ago, right?
And does that grumbling dwarf gave coins to another goblin?

In this place, Jack never suffered from hunger, or the cold. Are all those people - no, greenskins can't possibly be people, right? - under dragon's tyranny... A nicer society than what he knew before?
>>
>>5683666
His thought are interrupted by Maëllyeva
>"You scared me! I thought he was crushing you to death!
- I thought you already knew I was weaker than him?
>And that makes me less afraid for you?"
Jack fails to answer. After all, they barely share a language and a prisoner condition.
That's not true. They both have each other back since the dungeoning time.

His thought are interrupted by the wood elf touching his face, drawing her own closer. Probably to examinate the wounds, right? But why is she taking more and more time at each examination?

Jack fights the intrusive thought.
No matter how much he wants to indulge into his impulse, it's probably unwanted attention - especially in the middle of the fighting pit.
Back to the cell they call their quarters, Jack lie down.
>"Remove your top.
- I don't think I got hit there
>I want to make sure you have no ribs crushed."
Jack sits, take his shirt away. Maëllyeva approach, run her hands on his bare torso. The precise, inquisitive touch turns into caresses, embarassing quite a bit the lumber man.
"Is that medical procedure?
>- Sorry... Just amazed by the thin fur. It's soft... Your ribs seems fine. Let me take care about your face..."
The healer cups the man's head in her soft, long-fingered hands. A yellow-white glow enshroud him, with the itchy feeling of blood drying, cuts closing, skin weaving itself back. The itch stops, then the light.
Alright Jack, now's the moment. Wrapping his strong arm around his companion's slender frame, holding her like a bird - firm enough to avoid her to fly away, gentle enough not to hurt her, Jack start pulling her a bit closer.
Immediately, she slides against him. He's painfully aware of her warmth against his bare chess, only separated to her soft own by her tunic. His embarrassment grows. She grinds her hips. He locks her gaze, go for the kiss.

"Congratulation pit-fighters! Thanks to your enthusiasm and excellent behavior, you no longer prisonners! You're free to come and go in the undercity!"

The green dragon disappear as it came, leaving the two baffled freed people.

"So... Are we going to see the underground city?
>Well, we were a bit in the middle of something, weren't we? You took long enough to take me in your arm, I'm not letting you go this easily."

Jack's heart melt a bit.

You choose to wake up. You feel more would be voyeurism - although a valuable lesson for Hector might lie in that vision you just had.

Now is a time as good as any other...
How comfortable are you with romance thematics and how it's been treated so far? As you can tell, I'm more an advocate to evocate over direct telling
>>
>>5686123
I don't mind a bit of romance in my stories. keeps it fresh. but don't let it get overgrown and squash everything else.

and you mean to say that you are an advocate for the Show dont tell principle in stories?

Dont just say someone is smart but have them do smart things and so on.
>>
>>5686148
More like in the specific case of Romance, I'm not writing smut and explicit content, trying to be somewhat subtle.
Not sure how well it is conveyed. The previous post might be my most explicit piece written so far; not sure how I feel about that yet.
>>
>>5686156
i think that the above one is probably stradeling the line to outright smut but has not stepped over it.

anything more explicit than that would be unfitting for this board.

Nothing seems to be around.
Releasing companions, you start the day with a hearty breakfast. A welcome change after a month of rations and questionably sourced proteins. As your teeth tear the juicy lukewarm meat, you realize that color where not the only attenuated thing in the deadlands. Odors, sounds and taste where equally dimmed. The pleasant ones at least. Stench of corpses, blood and stools where exempt of such a prejudiciated treatment.

>We see you accepted our gift.
Wait, where did they come from? Three androgynous silhouettes are at arrow distance from you. Elves.
"One day, I'll have to ask Guillot why the stereotype regarding ear-daggers are so charming when I am unable to gender nine out of ten you met, Sidridijika.
- It's because Sidridijika doesn't have the same beauty standards. What's not to like about perfect, smooth skin, beautiful air, gracious and fluid gait? Oh wait, I'm describing myself..."
Follows a clothless mental picture. You feel Hector dropping the connection.
"Agathe please, stop teasing Hector, he is romantically decision-making challenged enough as is."

You tentatively accept the hospitality of the elves.
For a limited time.
"Isss there a way I can rrrepay the favorrr?
- Well, paying the respects to our elder is a must, of course."
The elves are pleasant, but not extremely talkative. You walk back to the glade you first went through (>>5683598)
"On your right Exit 1, the road leads to the land of the walking dead. Our village can be found on the other road..."

After some more hours of travel - sun is high in the sky, even if shaded by canopy, you make it to the village itself.

A forest of tree, bent admirably into shelters. Graft? Woodsing? A mix of both, probably. The village is completely integrated in the scenery, spanning way farther than any settlement you ever saw, be it the human settlements with houses hugging each other as if they want to hide the word's ugliness among each other, the dwarven even more compact settlements spawning in height and depth as well as cardinal directions, or the highborn elves with tower grazing the celestial voute itself.

Your escort brings you toward a hut that seems bigger than the surrounding ones.

Waiting outside, you step in with Agathe on your side - your lizard long stashed into the necklace to avoid by all mean a diplomatic incident.

Inside, a woman is working on a bark-made cauldron. The colors swirling inside escape as fumes, that the druidess seems careful not to inhale.
Her striking green gaze seems to pierce through you as her eyes locks on you when you step in, as if looking far beyond you.
"Young Dragon."
She state your age and race with an imperceptible nod. As your equal - or even your superior?
"You made the good choice. Rest. Get your strength back. "

Your host smile. Not the welcoming one, it makes you feel more like you're facing someone with knowledge of thousands of year each bearing its score of secret lore.

"I know well who you are, Young Dragon, as well as your quest for reconquest. "

You perk up. Did you just stumble into allies? People to raise under your host and march to take your land back?

"Before you ask, no. We won't fight your war for you. However, we can support you in other ways...
- I do not wish to be a burden. Is there something I might be able to help around here?"

The elfe smile once again.
"I'm Geneüewe. Sidrijika, your name means the Omen of Miracles? Let's just say I'll gladly accept your presence, if it means chances of miracle only with you staying..."

Heh. That smile again. That goddamn smile. That shout to the core of your bones that you can't fully trust the woman. There is more, much more happening here and now. That's why you gave her a false name - close enough to your nature, different for avoiding any use such a knowledgeable person might have to bind someone...
"I'd prefer to warn you, young dragon : a name is a powerful thing for your kind. Giving it so lightly to people you just met is asking for troubles..."

They seem to like rabbits, right? There's far enough for them to eat in the forrest, so this shouldn't be a problem. Just have to make sure all male in the surrounding area are, well, more performing, and so will be females.

>Crit Fail : the plan works perfectly. You get XP. Consequences are NotYourProblem™
You even got XP out of it, lucky you

You feel the threads of fate spinning. You know it will go wrong. You don't know how. You don't really care, either. After all, she is hiding things from you, so that's fair.

"I'd ask, fair lady, if I can relinquish on your advice.
- Speek, young one.
- My lizardmen followers. I'm training them since they emerged. But I struggle. They're slow. Not learning.
- ... Those ones? You tell me they're younger than you? ... They show autonomy signs of lizardmen at least fourty year old!"

Well, that's a thing. Poor, poor, poor other lizardmen wranglers.

"If you need advice, I'd better teach you how to use your breath as a strategic asset in battle. You will face many, and this is a dragon's mightier weapon..."

Here's a recap of your breath attack:

Breath weapon : 3 uses in normal condition. Then, White shall Recharge.
Modes :
Sniper : a 100m range, 5cm wide Breath. DC is 15/Crit for 1/2 damages. Bypass "Look out, Sir!"
Trait : Piercing breath (propagate success to opponents behind target in sniper mode) : acts like a skewering siege machine
Trail Effect : a 30 meter range, 20 cm wide Breath. DC is 15/17/Crit for 1/2/3 damages.
Flashbang : a 10 meter range burst of sound and light. DC is 15, incapacitate.
Cristallize : a 30 meter range breath turning the surface hit into a stable cristallized structure. Does not work on flesh.
Recharge : DC 15/Crit for recovering 1/2 dice of Breath use. Failure will trigger the "Breathless" status

>17 : i'm giving something undisclosed
>Nat 20 under training : Choose one subskill. Choose one upgrade. Debate and vote, the highest ranking one will be granted. QM's discretion about what's accepted or not; will update you.

For example, a range increase of 1m is an auto accept. Set the DC of the to-hit roll to 2 will be an auto-reject.
>>
>>5691518

Trail:
Explosive Breath: Allows to reroll all Dice that did not deal at least one point of damage against Groups once per attack.
>>
>>5691518
An aoe breath would be good, either something that deals damage in a short but wide cone or a circle being stronger at the epicenter.
>>
>>5691589
Hmmm... how about a mine breath. Pretty much expend a charge to create a light magic claymore with a near indeffinste shelflife that we can trigger remotely.

Chaos Army areives. Find the floor crystalliued. Startsnpocketing stuff which suddenly violently explodes. And an entire chunk of the army grts turned to chunky salsa
>>
>>5691518
>>5691527
>>5691589
>>5691601
Guess we all thinking about roughly the same thing.
Any surface the breath hits, after a delay of 1~2 seconds, the area explode giving extra light damage. If we draw a path with our breath, the explosions will form a wall that deals constant light damage (duration of the wall increase with training).
So:
>Uses breath on a single fixed point = big explosion with big damage
>Draw a path (such as a circle around a group of enemies if we are flying) = wall of light with minor but constant damage

How acceptable is this? It's technically an alternative/upgrade of the trail effect.
>>
>>5692084
that sounds pretty useful not gonna lie.

probably a straight upgrade with the lingering hazards or explosion ability.
>>
>>5692084
It works
>>
>>5691527
>>5691589
>>5692084

Let me try to put it in term of game mechanics
>Breath mode : Light Hazard
DC : 15/Crit for 1/2 success. You can draw a light wall that remains 3 turns. The length of the wall is 5m*Number of success. Shape is up to you. Walking through the wall or beginning turn in collision with the wall is (1 in d6 roll) chance to take a wound.
People will react to it like an obstacle. For example, drawing a X shape in the middle of a 40 skaven blocks will hit like 20 of them, killing 3 or 4, but mostly break the pack in 4 packs of ten, lacking coordination (mechanically, rolling independantly with bigger maluses)

Works for you?
>>
>>5692841
That sound suitable enough.

Even on a miss do we still create the obstacle?
>>
>>5692841
Seems fine to me.
I'm assuming the explosion part is a "no go"?
>>
>>5692860
Dropped my name.
>>
>>5692860
Rerolling fails in AOE attack?
Yeah, that kind of upgrade would require you to pull out a Miracle increase of breathing power.
>>
>>5692864
Not sure what you mean by "fails in AoE attack", but the risk of fucking up our breath attack surely isn't worth it (I'm kinda tempted tho).
>>
>>5692866
I mean
>Trail Effect: Explosive Breath: Allows to reroll all Dice that did not deal at least one point of damage against Groups once per attack.

That's way too strong for one day of coaching. This kind of effect would be a clutch-improvement of a miracle success in the middle of a battle after a fail.
You roll 4 dices. 1,2, 12, 11. Crit fail? Bitch, nah, your roll becomes 20, 19, 20, 11 with the usual swinginess of that game using that trait.
>>
>>5693582
I see. We can leave that for the future then. But just for the record, what would happen if we failed a miracle to strengthen our breath? Can you tell?
>>
>>5691327

"A dragon's breath is a tool that should shape a battlefield. Your own breath have been trained. But should be refined further. "

Your teacher of a day gives surprisingly good insights and pointer on how to maximise the effect of your explosive trail effect, using wood dummies she grew in a snap of fingers.

>Undisclosed gibs - Trail Effect DC decreased to 14/16/Crit for 1/2/3 damages.

Growing dummies...
"Excuse me, witch. Can you grow walls?
- Why, yes, white lizard"
The passive-aggressive is one-upped. You're not certain if this is because of the growing familiarity with the elf and her mean of communication or symptomatic of a tensed relationship, ready to snap like a ballista damaged string.

The enchantress proceed to show a thorned wall growth.

>Crit
You get some altitude, and shape your breath in a lingering cristallized thorn carried by light.
It seems to remain airborne around half a minute.

"This one, well, you don't stop as easily when part of a squad than one foot, or while charging on horseback..."

She proceeds to explain you basic shapes - Half circle to contain some ennemies melee units for a time, or protect your own troops holding a position; X shape to split a squad, straight lines to funnel units into traps or siege weapon fire arc

Meanwhile, you attempt to get lizard get some insight too.
