“Autobots wage their battle to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticons.”

—--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your consciousness rises from the empty void of a dreamless sleep. The sensation of feeling rushing into your awakened mind. Your optics open to the brilliant light of a shining star. You crane your head away from the burning gas ball and glance down gingerly to survey your frame. You're greeted with a mess of shiny plates and thick wires, and you can’t help but feel naked like this. You pull your limbs into a cannonball and spin, releasing as you try to orient yourself upwards. You turn yourself from the sea of void pocketed by dots of light and turn to see a big blue sphere in your path. Glowing streaks luster in the planet’s dark, the sun’s radiance illuminating continents of green and tan as unstained white clouds swirl carefree. As you turn to survey the rest of space you fail to make notice of anything of interest, and realize that you don’t have any method of altering your course.

With some time left before you hurtle towards the surface of the planet, and the situation of your surroundings solved, you decide to try and remember more about who and what you are. The celestial body in front of you blurs as your processor focuses on recollection. You recall a night of violence, vivid lights of weapon fire and the sparks of metal scraping against metal, nameless voices shouting, bellowing commands and threats to murmuring followers who were trashed in the indefinite brawl. Two symbols dance around in your head, you feel a plethora of emotions but can’t decide which feelings belong with which insignia. You bring a hand to your head, as if a bit of pressure would push the fuzzy memories into something more recognizable. Groaning in disappointment, you consign the issue to be resolved later, mostly out of a hope that your memory will spontaneously sharpen.

Gravity pulls both your attention and your body towards the planet you were heading towards. Instinctively you transform. Your limbs and digits twisting and turning as you fold yourself into a more protective shape. As you begin your descent you notice you have some control over your fall.

>Fly into Northern Africa

The atmosphere coats you as you plummet to the ground. You can faintly feel the heat grow on your metal skin, an enjoyable sensation after feeling the coldness of space. You lurch towards a large, brown tipped continent, flying straight as you speed towards the surface. Smashing into the sand with a crash, you briefly skip along the dunes as you lose momentum. When you finally come to rest you transform, the meteoroid body snapping and locking away to form your bipedal mode. You survey your surroundings; sand, dirt, a few metal towers, a cluster of blocky structures in the distance, and a vast expanse of blue liquid are all you spy. Narrowing your optics at the structures, you see a few wheeled vehicles, some are even moving at fairly fast speeds, kicking up a dust in their wake that obscures more. You feel an odd familiarity in these machines, and instinctively approach them. As you approach the group of buildings, you see a mass of rusted metal and dilapidated machines that was obscured by a dune. You find one hull that you are inexplicably drawn to, and your body moves on its own, a scan covers the….

>Tank
>Jet
>Helicopter

And your body changes to adapt to this new altmode. You hear a disembodied voice in your head. It speaks with dignified authority in spite of the patchy quality. “Unknown Cybertronian lifeform…..Decept…..identify immediately.”

In conjunction with this, another poor quality transmission graces your mind, though the voice that speaks has a peculiar, almost bubbling speech that makes you think the speaker is submerged in something. “ ….bots….danger….please respond.”

As you mess about trying to get a clearer transmission from either of the two parties hailing you, your receptors pick up some commotion happening inside the array of buildings. A series of pops and bangs sound off without harmony, and the boom and flare of an explosion rises somewhere in the midst of the structures.

You roll your shoulders as you settle into your new altmode. You press your thumb to your head’s side as you try to hone in to the first voice, eventually you find the right frequency and enjoy a far greater crispness to the message quality. “Unknown Cybertronian lifeform, this is Shockwave of the Decepticon forces, identify yourself immediately.”

Decepticon. That word jolts your memory some, one of those insignias you remember, the pointed one materializes above the word. The other symbol gets its name too, Autobot if you recall correctly. Well that’s part of the mystery solved, but you still aren’t sure which feelings you have for which faction. You pause as you ponder if you should answer the Decepticons request, mostly out of an uncertainty if he is a friend or foe.

I only have surface knowledge of the setting, but an Autobot flyer seems to be a rarity. Also, nothing stopping us from going cold-cooled killer within the Autobots too. It would let us stick out a bit more character-wise. Necessary evil and all that.

Even with the chopper, I'd be game for angling for an ambusher rather than a brawler. Stalking Decepticon patrols on ruined Cybertron, picking them off one by one to expose a weakness in their flank or an overextended commander.

Someone powerful and efficient enough to be respected, but who wouldn't go belly up for random humans like a certain someone...

I’m of the mind of saying ‘fuck off humans, I’m not suddenly joining your damn military, you dumb fucks’. As long as this happens, I’m happy. With the Autobots though, by necessity, we probably would be working with them, which is… distasteful. Honestly, if we could be free agent, that would be best, because nothing is locking us in to go one or the other
>>
>>5657316
I would be willing to support a neutral character, but it is a bit late at this point to get a majority, and while we got a write-in option, it often doesn't have the same pull by default.

What we could do is join the Autobots, and build the MC as either prideful or strongheaded. The kind that respects Optimus for his strength and leadership, but wouldn't stoop low enough to work with organics. Which may cause a lot of tension within the Autobots, and could eventually result in us leaving and becoming either a neutral mercenary, or continuing the war on our terms, Rambo-style, consequences be damned.

It'll depend on what the QM wants to write and what the other anons will support, really.

>>5657404
While I applaud the Mechanicus reference, this does has me curious about whether any part fo the (apparently massive) Transformers lore has ever touched on Cybertronian religion? We get a lot of civil war and old nobility stuff with the Primes, but what about faith, worship, idols? The All-Spark comes to mind, but it seems to just be a tool, not some revered life-giver.

Being a Doubledealer like character would be interesting, working with both sides depending on what they have to offer at the time.
>>
>>5657443
Apparently Primus is the creator god of the cybertronians, and he apparently transformed himself into the planet Cybertron itself. Optimus Prime would technically be the cybertronian pope in this case.
>>
>>5657443
>>5657477
Would that make the All-Spark equivalent to their Jesus then? It does seem to "resurrect" dead cybertronian corpses. Or maybe not, considering it doesn't seem to be a living thing.

Now I'm thinking about how you could equate the holy trinity to this...

feel free to write dialogue, it'll speed up character creation personality wise.

You mull it over, your processor spinning as you try to remember more about the two factions. You decide not to answer this Decepticon, and switch to the other frequency.

“Attention landed cybertronian, this is Seaspray of the Autobots’ maritime forces, there is a great Decepticon danger in the area, please respond!” The voice gargles.

“I read you Seaspray.” You answer, pondering if you should’ve given your words a similar quirk to make sure he understands it.

“Thank Primus, you gotta speed outta there quick! You landed right on the Decepticon’s shore, and they’ll be sending in the big guns to scrap you if you stick around! I’ll send you a sensor ping so you know which way to head.” The Autobot relayed the danger of the situation to you.

After tuning in to the Decepticons frequency earlier there was a very good chance they knew exactly where you were, so there was no time to waste. Leaping into the air and transforming, you cut through the air in your helicopter form. But as you depart, you feel something strike you, it’s almost unnoticeable, but you're still curious as to what’s causing it. Your vision shifts to the cluster of buildings, and the sight is fairly strange. There’s groups of native machines, many with weapons attached, firing at you. Additionally, you can make out small, moving figures that also seem to be attacking you if the flashes from them are any indicator.

>Transform and give the natives a piece of your mind

The damage to your frame is almost nonexistent, however you are deeply upset by the action of the bots on this planet. While your memory is hazy at best, you know that greeting someone with cannonfire is not proper, and you decide to give the ground borne machines a lesson in respect. Transforming back into your walking form you swat aside a few of the locals as you descend, and give another group a good couple of punches to their fronts. To your surprise, you send the machines flying off the ground, crumpling their armor as if they tumble across the dirt or hit the nearby buildings. The drones that were ineffective firing on you earlier are shouting something in some foreign language you can’t decipher as they continue to helplessly pelt you with their weapons. As you see more of them crawl out from the wrecked machines, you see that their bodies are completely alien, and you have a realization. These smaller, non metallic beings are controlling the larger machines, and when they fail to transform to scuffle with you, you come to the assumption that they're unliving. As you pause to decide what to do with this new information the voice of Seaspray fills your receptors.

“What in Vector Sigma’s name are you doing!? I’m detecting at least six Decepticon signatures converging on your location and you’re messing with the humans?! You gotta get out of there now or we both may end up as slag!” The worry that bordered on panic was discernable even from his strange voice.

You respond to the Autobot, ignoring the humans’ unfruitful attempts at damaging you. “Sorry there Seaspray, I’ll be right there.” You answer. “Just had to clean up some trash.” You say to yourself as you gaze at the totaled human vehicles.

Transforming back into your alt-mode and taking to the skies once more, your travel is interrupted by your sensors picking up 3 fast approaching objects. Wagering a guess they’re the welcoming party Seaspray was talking about you give him a call. “Heading to your vector now, I got three Decepti-bougies on my tail.”

“Keep on course, we’ll have an easier time shaking them off at sea. I’ll radio for help.” The Autobot responds.

Soon enough you reach the coastline, and you spy what has to be Seaspray hovering above the blue sea. You also notice that the three Decepticons that were giving you chase are now visible. Three jets, one blue, one red, and one white are speeding towards you. The bright beams of laserfire speed past you, instinctively you dodge and evade the shots. Seaspray shouts to you over his own weapon fire.

“Follow me, reinforcements are inbound!” He shouts as his altmodes fans spin, sending him streaking across the waves.

You do your best to avoid the shots of the rapidly encroaching jets as you follow the hovercraft. You see two red jets of different models heading towards you, must be the reinforcements you think.

“I heard you bots were having some trouble with the welcoming committee. It’s a good thing ol’ Powerglide is here to save your tails!” The voice of the jet doing a brazen spin reaches your receptors.

The far bigger jet seems a bit more serious. “Cut the theatrics Powerglide, we’ve gotta shake off these Decepticons and pull out of here.”

The two Autobot fliers open fire on the encroaching trio of jets, breaking their formation. The Decepticons aren’t backing down from that attack, it seems like you and your current allies are going to have to make them leave.

You turn around and tilt forward, outpacing your comrades to challenge the jets’ charge. The white one takes the first shot at you, booming at a nauseating speed. “I’ll skewer you Autoscum!” he shouts meager meters from colliding with you. With a remarkable deftness you rise above the Decepticon just as he was about to strike you. You pour out uninterrupted laser fire directly into his engines and tail fins. You catch both a billow of black smoke and the shout of a helpless bot tumbling to the ground as you turn to take out the yelling red jet. “You’re going down, Autobot!” He taunts as two missiles fly off his frame towards you. With daunting precision, you snipe the two missiles out of the sky, and use cover of their explosions to fill the Decepticon’s cockpit with plasma. As you watch him streak towards the floor you hear the last Decepticon threaten you from behind. “You’re finished!” And you would be if you were a bit too slow. With remarkable agility, you jolt upward, looping in the sky before stopping right behind the helpless jet. There’s barely time for him to express his bewilderment before the missile you fire slams into his aft and sends him careening down to join his allies. Your audio receptors are filled with the cheers of the other three Autobots.

“Fancy shooting there pal!” Powerglide compliments. “You should’ve told us you could handle them yourself.” The other jet says with a chuckle.

“Just doing what came naturally.” You answer, it was the honest truth. You guess you’ve had some skill in fighting.

“Say, what’s your name pal?” Powerglide inquires.

You pause at the simple question. Your name is among the many things that are stuck in the murky recesses of your incomplete memory. You decide to tell the truth.

“I don’t remember.”
“Don’t remember?” Powerglide asks.
“I woke up in orbit with no recollection, I’ve just been figuring things out as I go after I landed.” You explain to the Autobots.
“Sounds like you must’ve suffered some serious damage.” Seaspray comments.
“We’ll head back to base, they might be able to treat it there.” The larger jet says while he, to your surprise, swoops down to the water and transforms into a ship far larger than his jet mode.
Following Powerglide, you land on the deck and transform into your bot mode.
“The name’s Broadside, feel free to relax, we should be out of the Decepticon’s neighborhood soon enough.”
You take the downtime to check your bot mode’s weapons.

You adjust your wrists, extending your arm out as you fine tune your weapons. You simulate the firing angles, and eventually adjust your wrist guns to a satisfactory accuracy. After this you withdraw a long blade from your back. You slice the air with it, moving entirely off of instinct. The sword has a good heft and you dare to see if you can wield two. With a blade in each hand, your movements are a bit more awkward. You think you hear a snicker as you move across the deck, swinging the blades without any superb rhythm. You’re unsure if the other blade is simply a backup, or if your skills with two blades have atrophied with your memory. Finished with your adjustments, you decide to speak with the other Autobots about some questions you have.

Ok quick question, but what’s our stance on humans? Active stomping or inactive stomping?
>>
>>5659457
Im guessing the latter since we’re sticking with the autobots and we didn’t attack the humans until they attacked us first.
I feel like proactive stomping would just get too boring and edgy after a while so I’d support a more “fuck around and you’ll find out” kind of mentality when it comes to humans
>>
>>5659482
"Don't make me come over there, meatsack" is a stance I can support. I gotta wonder though, if we do end up going for a merc route would we work for humans if they have something useful for us? Admittedly I can't really see what humans could offer for a Cybertronian. My Transformers lore is very surface-level.
>>
>>5659519
Assuming we're a merc, we don't have to even go the "Autobot/decepticon" route we could be a part of the Cybertronian Knights or even a Wrecker.
>>
>>5659482
yeah, sounds about right. We could also be very derisive of humans and their capabilities, unless proven otherwise.
>>
Thinking about it, what did we do before? We take to combat pretty well, but we weren't recognized by either decepticons or autobots. We could have joined one a long time ago and became MIA, but for now Occam's Razor points to us just not being part of either.
It'll be fun to figure out.
>>
>>5659559
Which is why I brought up Wreckers and Cybertronian Knights. Personally I lean towards Cybertronian Knight because I want to dab on Deciptitards and the insignia is badass.

Hmm. Now, assuming we were anyone of any fame or renown back on Cybertron, you'd think we'd be recognizable to some of our fellow bots. But-

Knight or not, I doubt we'll just meet another Cybertronian that recognizes us anytime soon and I'm all for it.

“Something must have scrambled my circuits. I can remember some things, I remember how to fight, how to transform. I remember small details, but at the same time I can't remember anything. Nothing important. I know you're my allies, I know they're my enemies, but I can't remember who they are or why we're fighting.” You say as you bring a hand to your head.

“Chances are you were one of the Ark’s crew that got spaced during our fight with the Nemesis.” Broadside explains.

“As for who the Autobots and the Decepticons are, it’s a long story, but to keep it short we’re trying to stop those creeps from turning any planet that isn’t Cybertron or its colonies into a slave world.” Powerglide chimes in.

“It all started when the Decepticons tried to overthrow the Cybertronian Conclave. The Autobots stopped their power-grab and the war’s been going ever since. No one has managed to break the stalemate.” Seaspray gives some needed background.

“The Decepticons wanted to institute a more aggressive, expansionist government with themselves as the head. As someone who stuck with them before the war I can say that most ‘cons are better fit for a scrapyard than a throne of plunder.” Broadside states flatly.

“I can’t say I was the biggest fan of how things were being run, but you didn’t have to be a genius to figure out that everyone would be worse off if the Decepticons were in charge.” Powerglide interjects.

“The Autobot creed is to protect freedom, and the Decepticon’s plan for intergalactic domination led to the conflict.” Seaspray gargles.

“There’s a few bots back at base that can give a more complete detail of the war.” Broadside says.

That is satisfying for now, so you move on to a few other queries. “Who were those three Decepticons I shot down?”

“That was Dirge,Thrust, and Ramjet. A nasty trio of seekers, but nothing that I couldn’t have handled.” Powerglide boasts. “But you did a fine job grounding them yourself.” He slips you a compliment.

“And exactly how backwater is this rock? Are the natives all as stupid as the ones back there?” You jab a thumb at the direction of the land you just left.

“The humans call it Earth among other things, as for where it is we can’t say.” Seaspray answers.

“Most of them prefer to run when they see a Cybertornian, but you’re lucky you landed where you did pal. Some of the humans here are packing serious firepower.” Powerglide cautions.

You’re a bit doubtful that these frail organics really have anything that could cause you serious damage, but you humor the Autobot and only let out a titter smugly.
>>
>>5659889
With all your questions answered, you spend the remaining time of the trip trying to see if you can remember more of your past. You find no success, and are soon at another coastline. You bid farewell to Seaspray as you, Powerglide and Broadside transform and fly deeper into the continent. At the foot of a reclusive mountain range Broadside approaches, revealing a large door hidden behind a cover of camouflage. After walking through a series of doored checkpoints you are finally greeted by two other bots, one is tall and red. The other is small and golden.

“Glad to see you made it back unharmed.” He says to the two jets. “And you must be the one we tracked hitting planetside.” He extends an open hand which you grasp and shake instinctively. Seems your etiquette hasn’t been forgotten. “The name’s Goldfire.”

After you finish the red one gives a shake, alongside a pat on the shoulder with the other hand. “That was some fine shooting. I’m Ironhide.” He speaks with a noticeable accent. “Fine job you two, you can head off now.” He says to Powerglide and Broadside. As they move to leave down another corridor Powerglide faces the two and speaks. “You might want to send him down to medical, he’s suffered some pretty bad memory damage.” Ironhide and Goldfire look towards you as you nod in confirmation. “I can’t even remember my name.”

“Best get you to Ratchet then, if anyone can fix ya it’s him.” Ironhide speaks as he motions for you to follow.

You pass by a plethora of different bots on the short walk towards the medbay, the door opens and you see a few bots milling about, a white bot with a cross on his arm turns towards you. “What’s the trouble now?” He asks with a smirk.
“I can’t remember anything, only vague pieces of memory at best.” You answer.
“He’s the one we tracked landing in Africa Ratchet.” Goldfire explains.

“Well let’s see how bad the damage is,” He motions for you to come over and lay down. “Fixit, Red Alert, give me a hand here. You’ll be offline while we operate, shouldn’t take too long to figure out what’s wrong.” Your vision blacks out as you feel something on your torso.

You’re on a ship, floating in the cosmos. Explosions and lasers the only source of light as a shadowed figure charges you, its fist connecting with your face. You watch as you bring your sword down from an overhand swing, cutting across the other bot’s chest as you follow up with a punch of your own. The fight continues to escalate in brutality the both of you tearing pieces off of eachother, jamming your weapons right into each other and blasting. You hit the other bot with a pulverizing punch, knocking him off the ground and sending him floating into space. He twitches, raising his gun. The world slows as it fires, you’re helpless as the blast hurtles towards you, becoming brighter and brighter before your vision fades into black again.

The light soon returns, and you’re looking at the neutral face of Ratchet and the other two bots.

“I had a vision, or a memory maybe.” You say.
“What was it?” Ratchet asks.
You recount the vision to Ratchet, who rubs his chin as he listens to you.
“Well that settles it.” He states as he moves away from the table.
“Did you manage to fix it?” You question.
He shakes his head. “No, that vision of yours was likely the last thing you saw before your spark got scrambled.” He brings up a picture of the skeletal frame of a cybertronian, alongside all the machinery and circuitry that fills it. He points towards a warped, box-like part in your center.
“Here is your spark chamber, judging by its appearance it was almost blown apart by whoever you were scrapping with in your memory. Based on all of this and what you told me, my diagnosis is that you were so heavily damaged in that fight you reverted back to a protoform-like state, the alt-mode you have now might not even be your original.” Ratchet concludes.

“So it’s just the damage to my spark that’s causing my memory loss?” You restate.
“Oh no, your brain module’s just as damaged.” Ratchet says with a somewhat disturbing casualness. “But with your spark in the state its in any repairs to it would be useless.”
“Is there any way to fix it?” You ask, the worry that you may be forever stuck an amnesiac rising.

“With the right tools it’d be possible, but on this planet the only hope would be a wholesale rebuild, and that’s far too risky of a process.” Ratchet elucidates.
Your gaze falls to the floor, and you place a hand on your head, a sigh reverberating from you as you process the info. The good medic speaks up again.

“It’s nothing to worry about, your body has been repairing itself the whole time, and you’re already starting to regain your memory if that vision of yours is anything to go by. It’s only a matter of time before you're back to normal efficiency.” Ratchet tells you something uplifting for once.
“I’d recommend picking a name for yourself to go by until your memory recovers, if you don’t some of the younger bots will and it’ll stick.” He says with a chuckle.

I wouldn't mind watching this go down with a more anti-hero like bot. I also don't mind a little "edge" in my stories and characters, but my main concern is like what the other anon mentioned, where it feels like it's treading a line between "cool antihero gets shit done trope" and "decepticon cope for the guys who lost the decepticon vote" and I just didn't want to see this devolve to the latter. But, it's not seeming that way anymore so I've got no issues.
It would be interesting to see the contrast between the typically goody-two-shoes autobots interacting with a bot who's not afraid to delve into the grey zone to accomplish what needs to get done.

“I’ll come up with something.” You answer to Ratchet before turning away. You see Ironhide talking with one of the other medics. He walks over and says something to Goldfire before the two of them approach you. “Sorry the docs weren’t able to repair ya.” Ironhide says. You shrug “I’ll be back to normal eventually, no point worrying about it now.”
They both nod in acknowledgment before Goldfire speaks. “Well if there’s nothing else wrong with you, Commander Optimus is going to want to speak with you.”
“I’m ready.” The name is familiar, and you wonder why the Autobot commander would want to meet you personally. You follow the two bots around the base. While walking you overhear one bot yapping to another about bats or something.

As you pass the doors into what you assume is the Command Center, you catch sight of tall, imposing bot, who turns to face you. “Greetings, I am Optimus Prime, Supreme Commander of the Autobot Forces.” He extends an open hand. You shake it, and introduce yourself, feeling spurred on by the Autobot laying his full title on you. “I’m Sunshrike.” You promptly name yourself. “Excuse my asking, but why did you want to see me?”
“Any Autobot survivor we manage to find is a victory worthy of my attention, and the report Ratchet sent tells me that you could use my help. I imagine you have a multitude of questions, and I’m willing to answer whatever I can.”

“What are the Autobots and Decepticons doing on this planet?” You start off with the most immediate question.
“The Ark departed to make contact with the colony of Caminus in the hopes of finding troops and resources to break the stalemate on Cybertron; somehow the Decepticons discovered the plan and attempted to destroy us. We landed on this planet millions of stellar cycles ago, following a battle between the Ark and the Nemesis that left both of our vessels in critical condition.” Optimus answers as he inputs something into the nearby computer, showing a simulation of two very impressive battleships firing at each other, pulling right up to each others’ broadsides, and then separating and crashing into the Earth.
“We’ve both been in stasis until around one orbital period. Since then we have both been engaged in trying to construct a space bridge back to Cybertron while sabotaging the other.”
As you suspected, coming to this planet was something the Cybertronians didn’t do deliberately.

“What are the Autobots and the Decepticons, I don’t understand the reasoning behind the animosity.” You ask, broaching the deeper meanings of this conflict.

“It is a story that stretches back to the beginning of our history, but it is only more recently that our two ideologies have come to blows. In the time of Nominus Prime, the Cybertronian Conclave was created in an attempt to resolve hostility that had been mounting between various groups concerning the future of Cybertron and its colonies. Unfortunately, it was not as effective as Nominus hoped, deadlock plagued the colonies’ and the Conclave, and unrest only rose. It was around this time that the Decepticon faction proper was created, led by conclave member Starscream. They were not an openly hostile group, though I’ve had reason to believe they were behind many illicit actions, and they were most likely behind Nominus’ assassination and the attempt on Xeon and Xaaron’s life. It was only after Megatron became their leader that they made an open attack on our Government. Megatron and the Decepticons marched on Iacon. My predecessor, Sentinel Prime, and an army of Autobots stood in their way. Neither side would yield, and the confrontation came to an exchange of weapon fire. The fight spread to the rest of the planet, and the Great War began. Sentinel was gravely injured in these early battles, and he passed the Matrix, alongside command of the Autobot cause to me. I have led the Autobots against the Decepticons for well over one hundred million meta-cycles. Both of our sides have been locked in a stalemate.” Optimus Prime explains.
>>
>>5662525
“And what’s with this planet and these humans?” You finally inquire.

“The humans are the sentient species of this planet. Organic beings that have constructed machines similar to many of our alt-modes. They are a fractured race, with many different sub groups that have varying relations with each other. Their view on our arrival is equally as varied, but most of them have an understandable aggression towards us…”

“Understandable?” You interject.

“We have brought our war to their world, they have every right to treat us with hostility. I know your encounter with them has made for a poor first impression, and I do not blame you for your actions, but the humans are far more dangerous than you might think.” Optimus Prime presses a few buttons and brings up an airborne view of what seems like a human base. A car, a truck, and a helicopter ride past a checkpoint, transforming and firing with reckless abandon across the base. You see a few of them recoil from being hit with explosives, but what really shocks you is when one of the human tanks fires, a brilliant blue flash sending a similarly colored streak into one of the bots, tearing their arm right off. It fires again, ripping off the leg of another bot. Now the bots are in a retreat, straggling away as they’re rocked by explosives, evading the shots of more tanks as they rumble in pursuit.
“There is more to the humans than meets the eye. We must exercise caution and subtly when interacting with them. If you are to join our forces, you must obey this rule.”

“I’m starting to doubt if I even am an Autobot or Decepticon.” You reply skeptically.

“The Ark and the Nemesis were the only way a Cybertornian could have reached this planet. You responded to an Autobot message when the Decepticons were broadcasting a similar signal, you didn’t attempt to negotiate with the Decepticons when they were pursuing you, you shot down three seekers by yourself in spite of the presence of Autobots moving to engage them. While I will make no assumptions on your past, your actions speak of a bot who is no friend of the Decepticons.” Optimus rationalizes.

“I understand that you are likely still confused about what to do with so much of your memory gone, as such you are free to stay here with us. I cannot force you to fight for the Autobot cause, but I ask that you consider standing beside us. You may leave now if you please.”

“Thank you, I appreciate the generosity.” You reply earnestly.
Optimus nods in response, turning to speak with Ironhide as you depart the room. Goldfire exits with you and gives you a layout of the base before going back inside.
You vocalize the smattering of words, and begin to move towards the mess hall.

As you stand in the doorway you see that the room is fairly crowded, bots clustered together at tables all conversing with each other. You spot Broadside approaching a table filled with a diverse group of bots, one of them even seems to have a helicopter alt-mode like you. There's a dim turquoise bot that you passed by before narrating something to a group of far brighter colored bots. There’s a group of bots that seem to all have jets as altmodes discussing something. A table filled with smaller, wheeled bots are snickering amongst themselves. Two conjoined tables hold a group of bots that are all engaged in conversation, You see Powerglide talking with a bot that seems to have a gun built into his torso among the group. There’s one shadowy bot who’s leaning against the wall, arms crossed as he eyes you. Another bot is simply standing, a sour look on his face as he takes sips from a canister in his hand. Over at the counter, there’s a bot who’s slouched over and seems to be offline.

Before deciding to sit down with anyone, you decide to sate the welling urge to recharge.Moving past the slumbering bot and empty stand, you approach a large dispenser of some sort. A multitude of words are written on a series of buttons. You press the one that says liquid energon, and a small cube plops out of the machine. You grab it and look it over, trying to figure out what to do with it. You gaze back and notice another bot with a battlemask tilting some cylindrical container onto his face. You mimic the action and let some of the cube’s contents pour into your mask. You feel a bit more re-energized.

Satisfied with the cube you move to sit with Broadside and the other helicopter bot. Broadside welcomes you to the table. “Here’s the bot I’ve been telling you about.” The jet says.

The cycloptic bot extends an open claw in greeting, you shake it with your own digits. “Nice to meet another helicopter, the name’s Whirl.”

“Sunshrike.” You introduce yourself. This prompts Broadside to speak up.

“Did they manage to fix your memory?”
You shake your head slowly. “No, Ratchet said that it’s a problem with my spark, says there’s no way on this rock to repair it. Only good news is that he says it’s coming back with time, just have to wait it out now.”

“I can’t imagine what it would be like to lose my memories.” Whirl speaks.
“With the way you fly I’m surprised you haven’t already.” Broadside jokes.
“You’re just jealous that you can’t pull off any stunts like I can. Speaking of…” Whirl’s unmoving red optic settles on you.
“Broadside here told me you downed three seekers all by yourself. Pretty fancy flying for someone who just landed planetside.”
“Just going off of instinct.” You reply.
“You must have some experience then.”
“Do you think he was with us?” Broadside asks Whirl.
“I think I would’ve remembered if there was another helicopter in the Wreckers.” The mono eyed Autobot answers.
‘Well Ratchet said this alt-mode may not even be my original form. Are the Wreckers some subgroup?” You question.
They both nod.
‘Toughest of the tough.” Whirl states
‘Highest success rate of any permanent Autobot taskforce.” Broadside adds.
“Wreck and Rule.” The two of them say in unison with a noticeable pride in their voices.

“So you think I might’ve been a member?”
“It’s possible, but I’m not sure if rejoining is the best idea if you’re still recovering.” Whirl says.
“I’m not even sure if I’ll be joining the Autobots.” You say to the two.
“Going to wait for your memory to get better before throwing yourself into anything?” Broadside asks, to which you nod.
“Are you just going to sit around the base then?” Whirl asks.

“I’ll try to find someone who remembers me. As well as trying to relearn Cybertorn’s history.” You answer.
“If you’re looking to study up you should head to the archives, Teletraan 1 should be able to help you.” Broadside offers.
“If you bump into Rewind you should ask him about it too, he probably knows the most about that kind of stuff than anyone else on this planet.” Whirl adds on.
“Thanks, it was nice talking with you two.” You say as you down the rest of your drink before getting up to leave the table.
“Seeya.” Whirl says as Broadised gives a wave farewell.

Following the example of another bot you ditch the empty container in a nearby chute.
You approach the shadowed bot, who shifts his gaze from one of the tables back to you. His dull red armor is visible now.
“I haven’t seen you before.” He starts the conversation
“I just landed on this planet, the name’s Sunshrike.” You introduce yourself, hoping the info might bring some revelation to the other bot.
“Sideswipe.” He introduces himself. “So you’re the one they’re talking about.” His gaze shifts over to the tables holding the various groups of bots.
“So what are you doing here, not much use for a neutral in this base.” Sideswipe says as he gestures to your unmarked shoulder.
“My spark was damaged before I landed, I’m staying here until it recovers and I get my memory back.”
“Memory problems huh? “
“I’m hoping to find someone here who might remember me.”
“Shouldn’t be too hard, though I don’t remember a bot with your name and altmode.” Sideswipe says casually.
“The medics say this might not even be my original altmode,I’m not even certain if my name is my own either.”
“I wouldn’t bet on anyone recognizing you by your face alone then. Maybe you should look for alternative forms of remembrance.”
“Like what?” You ask.
Sideswipe stands from his relaxed lean. “They say motor memory holds as much as any brain module, and you seem to be a martial bot…” His gaze narrows at the blades on your back. “Maybe some fighting could help recover your memories, or atleast whatever skills you had before you got trashed. There’s a couple bots here who might be willing to spar with you.” He gestures towards the table filled with the brightly colored bots.

I'm sure Whirl would be one of the first to raise his hands.
Challenging Optimus would be interesting but he'll probably just say no since he probably has important Prime duties

“I’ll keep that in mind.” You say to Sideswipe as you leave the mess.
The walk towards the archives is uneventful, with the exception of passing by a bot with a visor and fins on his head rushing down the corridors with a crate, and soon you enter the archive room.
At its center is a large screen, surrounded by many smaller ones displaying various data. There’s a few tables with chairs neatly organized. You approach the screen and notice a vast array of buttons marked with different letters, symbols and numbers.
You press one and a monotone voice flows out of the machine.
“UNIDENTIFIED CYBERTORNIAN, PLEASE PROVIDE IDENTIFICATION.”
“Sunshrike.” You blurt out your name as you type it in.
“SUNSHRIKE. NO DATABASE MATCHES FOUND, ACCESS LIMITED TO GUEST LEVEL.”
You slump from the news, it sounds like there’s no record of your past self in the machine, a discomforting truth that gives you pause, letting your processor spin as you try to come up with something else to put into the search.

Deciding to start with the basics, you ask the computer for a history of Cybertron.
“CYBERTRONIAN HISTORY BEGAN ROUGHLY 100 MILLION KILOCYCLES AGO.”
A video of an ecumenopolis orbiting a single yellow star appeared on the screen.
“HOWEVER THE ONLY REMAINING RECORDS OF THE NATIVE POPULACE ARE SCATTERED ARTIFACTS AND ERODED ENCRYPTIONS IN THE DEEPEST BOWELS OF CYBERTRON. SOME HISTORIANS BELIEVE SENTIENT TRANSFORMERS ARE A BYPRODUCT OF NATURALLY OCCURING SERVOS, JOINTS, AND CIRCUITS COMBINING TOGETHER TO CREATE MECHANICAL LIFE. OTHERS BELIEVE THAT THE TRANSFORMER RACE WAS DIVINELY CREATED BY THE GOD PRIMUS. THERE IS ONLY EVIDENCE THAT CONFIRMS THAT THERE WAS MECHANICAL LIFE ON THE PLANET ROUGHLY 90 MILLION KILOCYCLES AGO. PROPERLY RECORDED HISTORY BEGINS AT WHAT HISTORIANS DUB THE DARK AGE OF CYBERTRON, WHEN THE QUINTESSON RACE HAD SUBJUGATED THE PLANET AND FORCED THE NATIVE CYBERTRONIANS INTO SERVITUDE.”
A serpentine figure with a skull face was shown on a chiseled piece of metal, below it are some tentacle armed figures, below them are humanoid figures, and below them a series of beasts.
“THE QUINTESSONS ARE BELIEVED TO BE A MECHANICAL SPECIES THAT OPERATED ON A CASTE SYSTEM, AND HAD TRADE WITH OTHER SENTIENT RACES.”
“SCIENTIST BELIEVE THE LACK OF PRE-DARK AGE RECORDS IS A RESULT OF DELIBERATE DESTRUCTION BY THE QUINTESSONS. THE QUINTESSONS PURSUED A PATH OF MODIFICATION ON THE NATIVE CYBERTORNIANS, MODIFYING THEIR BODIES, THEIR MINDS, AND ALT-MODES TO BE USEABLE BY OTHER SPECIES.”
Two very simple looking cybertronians are shown on the screen, they quickly morph into much more detailed and distinct forms, one seems to have gained a tank altmode and the other that of a truck.
“THE EXISTING POPULACE WAS MODIFIED INTO TWO GROUPS; MILITARY HARDWARE AND CONSUMER GOODS.”
The screen showed a simulation of transformers toiling away in great factories, or tearing eachother apart in arenas.
“THESE TRANSFORMERS WERE FORCED INTO SERVITUDE ON CYBERTRON ON BEYOND, AND WERE ENSLAVED FOR MILLENIA.”
The early scenes are disrupted by laser fire and explosions, armed figures leading their compatriots against their alien overlords.
“BUT THE QUINTESSONS HAD UNDERESTIMATED THE CYBERTRONIANS’ INTELLIGENCE, AND ONE HAD MANAGED TO ACQUIRE THE MATRIX OF LEADERSHIP.”
The five bots that had led the attacks in the videos were shown standing at each others’ sides.
>>
>>5676309
“THIS TRANSFORMER FOUNDED THE RESISTANCE ALONGSIDE HIS COMPATRIOTS A-3 AND SP-2, WHO THEMSELVES BROUGHT B-0 AND U-4 INTO THE YOUNG REBELLION. DUBBING THEMSELVES MUTUS PRIME, ALPHA TRION, SPARKTICUS, BETA, AND UPSILON TETRAD THE FIVE EXPULSED THE QUINTESSONS FROM CYBERTRON.”
The video showed the five leading an army of transformers against fleeing Quintessons. The five folded themselves into limbs, attaching to form a far larger bot which rocketed into space, being followed by four gargantuan cybertronians that transformed from the planet’s cities, crushing the orbiting ships.
“AFTER THE LIBERATION OF CYBERTRON SPARKTICUS AND UPSILON TETRAD ARGUED WITH ALPHA TRION AND BETA OVER THE FUTURE OF CYBERTRON. THE FOUR DEBATED WHETHER TO PURSUE THE FLEEING QUINTESSON FLEET OR TO REMAIN ON CYBERTRON AND REBUILD.”
The video screen showed the four transformers arguing before Mutus Prime entered the picture.
“MUTUS PRIME MANAGED TO CONVINCE THE TWO TO REMAIN ON THE PLANET. ALPHA TRION AND BETA REBUILT THE PLANET, WHILE SPARKTICUS AND UPSILON TETRAD PREPARED FOR WAR.”
The video screened showed various transformers reconstructing cybertron, manufacturing various tools and equipment, and others training.
“AFTER 200 MEGACYCLES MUTUS PRIME WENT INTO EXILE, AND THE MATRIX OF LEADERSHIP PASSED TO ANOTHER BOT, ZETA PRIME.”
The screen showed a large, intimidating figure.
“ZETA PRIME USHERED IN WHAT MOST HAVE CALLED THE GOLDEN AGE OF CYBERTRON. HE CREATED THE GUARDIAN TRANSFORMERS AND LED A CRUSADE AGAINST QUINTESSON FORCES ON THE FURTHEST PARTS OF THE SECTOR, SOLIDIFYING CYBERTRON’S INDEPENDENCE AND BRINGING AN END TO THE QUINTESSONS.”
The video shows a new fleet of various ships firing on Quintesson vessels.
“WITH CYBERTRON’S SAFETY SECURED, ZETA PRIME TURNED HIS SIGHTS TOWARDS COLONIZATION, AND STARTED THE SEEKER TOURNAMENT TO ENCOURAGE TRANSFORMERS TO DISCOVER NEW LANDS TO SETTLE.”
Various flyers of different shape, size and color blasted off the surface of Cybertron, venturing into deep space.
“THE GUARDIANS BECAME COLONY SHIPS, LEADING TO MASSIVE GROWTH AS THEY SETTLED THROUGHOUT THE SECTOR.”
The screen showed a map of space, with Cybertron as its center. The various colonies lit up and were labeled.
“ON CYBERTRON ZETA PRIME OVERSAW IMMENSE DEVELOPMENTS OF CULTURAL AND SCIENTIFIC SECTORS OF THE PLANET.”
The video zoomed in on Cybertron, showing the thriving urban planet bustling with life, one of the cities sparkled with a brilliant light.
“LIKE HIS PREDECESSOR, ZETA PRIME RETIRED INTO EXILE AFTER TEN KILOCYCLES, AND THE MATRIX WOULD COME INTO POSSESSION OF NOMINUS PRIME.”
The screen showed the imposing figure of Zeta Prime fade away into the visage of Nominus Prime.
>>
>>5676310
“NOMINUS PRIME’S LEADERSHIP WAS BESET BY BOTH POLITICAL AND SOCIAL TROUBLE. HOPING TO STAY THESE ISSUES, HE CREATED THE CYBERTRONIAN CONCLAVE AS THE GOVERNMENT FOR CYBERTRON AND IT’S COLONIES.”
The lone figure of Nominus Prime was joined by a group of other bots, all of varying appearance.
“WHILE THE CONCLAVE ENJOYED A BRIEF PERIOD OF SUCCESS IN RUNNING THE CYBERTRONIAN REPUBLIC, THE RISE OF THE AUTOBOT AND DECEPTICON FACTIONS AS MAJOR POLITICAL ENTITIES EVENTUALLY CAUSED DEADLOCK IN BOTH THE CONCLAVE AND THE COLONIES.”
Now the Autobot and Decepticon logos appeared behind the bots, leaving Nominus as the only one without a banner.
“THE RISING ANIMOSITY BETWEEN THE TWO FACTIONS CAME AT A HEAD DURING THE ASSINATION ATTEMPT ON XEON AND XAARON’S LIFE, AND THE SUCCESSFUL ASSINATION OF NOMINUS PRIME. DESPITE HIS INJURIES XAARON WAS ABLE TO COME ONLINE TO MOVE THE VOTE OF SUCCESSION INTO THE AUTOBOTS FAVOR. SENTINEL MAXIMUS WAS GIVEN THE MATRIX AND THE RANK OF PRIME.”
The screen shows the gruff figure of Sentinel Prime, shield and cannon drawn.
“SENTINEL PRIME ESCHEWED THE ROLE OF CONCLAVE MEDIATOR TO PURSUE ACTION AS THE HEAD OF CYBERTRON’S POLICE FORCES. SENTINEL’S ACTIONS WIDENED THE GAP BETWEEN THE AUTOBOT AND DECEPTICON FORCES, BUT HIS ACTIONS PREVENTED THE DECEPTICONS FROM SEIZING PLANETARY CONTROL.”
The screen showed two lines of bots facing off against each other, all armed.
“THE FIREFIGHT THAT BROKE OUT SPILLED OVER INTO OTHER PARTS OF THE PLANET, RAPIDLY PLUNGING THE ENTIRETY OF CYBERTRON INTO WAR.”
Teletraan-1 showed the planet being engulfed with explosions as millions of bots scattered about, firing at each other.
“NEWS OF THE CONFLICT SPURRED WAR IN THE COLONIES AS WELL, AND WITHIN SOLAR CYCLES CYBERTRON AND HER COLONIES WERE ISOLATED.”
There were videos of satellites and space bridges being destroyed as the map of the colonies dimmed.
“SENTINEL PRIME WAS GRIEVOUSLY INJURED DURING THE FIRST VORNS OF THE GREAT WAR. HE PASSED THE MATRIX ONTO ORION PAX, ONE OF HIS STUDENTS.”
The screen now showed the figure of Optimus Prime.
“AS OPTIMUS PRIME, HE HAS LEAD THE AUTOBOTS AGAINST THE DECEPTICONS FOR MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED MILLION META-CYCLES IN THE GREAT WAR, A CONFLICT THAT IS STILL ONGOING.”
>>
>>5676311
Well that gives you an idea on what Cybertron is, though it still leaves you with bigger questions about this war. You ask Teletraan-1 to provide more about the Great War.

“THE GREAT WAR IS AN ONGOING CONFLICT THAT EXTENDS THROUGHOUT SPACE, WITH THE AUTOBOTS AND DECEPTICONS AS THE MAJOR FACTIONS OF THE CONFLICT. THE PRELUDE CAN BE SAID TO HAVE STARTED AFTER THE LIBERATION OF CYBERTRON, WHEN ALPHA TRION AND SPARKTICUS ARGUED OVER WHAT TO DO AFTER THE EXPULSION OF THE QUINTESSONS. THE SENTIMENTS OF THE TWO BECAME THE FOUNDATIONS FOR THE AUTOBOT AND DECEPTICON GROUPS THAT ROSE TO PROMINENCE DURING THE TIME OF NOMINUS PRIME. THE EARLY AUTOBOTS HELD TO THE PHILOSOPHY THAT THE FREEDOM THEY HAD ACQUIRED WAS A UNIVERSAL RIGHT, AND THAT TRANSFORMERS MUST PURSUE A PATH OF CAUTION AND RESTRAINT LEST THEY BECOME ENSLAVERS THEMSELVES. THE DECEPTICONS BELIEVED THAT THEIR FREEDOM WAS ACQUIRED THROUGH THEIR STRENGTH, AND THAT THEY MUST STRIKE DOWN ANYTHING THAT COULD THREATEN THEIR HARD EARNED FREEDOM. THESE BELIEFS WERE REFLECTED BY THE FOLLOWERS, WITH MOST AUTOBOTS WORKING TOWARDS REBUILDING AND MOST DECEPTICONS FOCUSED ON TRAINING. AS CYBERTRON AND ITS COLONIES BEGAN TO GROW DURING THE GOLDEN AGE, RISING LEADERS BROUGHT THEIR FACTIONAL BELIEFS WITH THEM, AND THE AREAS UNDER THEIR JURISDICTION CHANGED TO REFLECT THEIR BELIEFS, FURTHER SOLIDIFYING THE TWO FACTIONS’ IDENTITIES. THIS WOULD HOWEVER LEAD TO CONFLICT AFTER ZETA PRIME’S EXILE. THE ESTABLISHMENT DECEPTICONS AS AN ORGANIZED GROUP WAS DONE BY CONCLAVE MEMBER STARSCREAM, ALONGSIDE OTHER NOTABLE FIGURES SUCH AS THE SCIENTIST SHOCKWAVE AND THE RULER OF CHAAR STRAXUS. THE DECEPTICONS FOUND SUPPORT IN PRIMARILY WEALTHY CYBERTRONIANS HOPING TO PROFIT OFF OF A ZEALOUS EXPANSION POLICY. LATER ON THEY WOULD RECRUIT FAMED GLADIATOR AND FORMER WRITER MEGATRON INTO THEIR RANKS, AS A WAY TO GARNER SUPPORT AMONGST THE COMMON TRANSFORMER. THE DECEPTICON CAUSE CONTINUED TO GAIN POPULAR SUPPORT, WITH ONLY TOKEN RESISTANCE FROM THOSE WHO CONSIDERED THEMSELVES AUTOBOTS. IT WAS ONLY AFTER THE ASSINATION OF NOMINUS PRIME AND A RISE IN CRIMINAL ACTIVITY THAT THE AUTOBOTS BECAME A DISTINCT FACTION, THROUGH BOTH THE ACTIONS OF SENTINEL PRIME AND CONCLAVE MEMBER TRAACHON. THE AUTOBOTS FOUND SUPPORT AMONGST LAW ENFORCEMENT AND RANK AND FILE TRANSFORMERS, AS WELL AS SEEING A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FORMER DECEPTICONS JOINING. THE WAR AT ITS OUTBREAK SAW FIGHTING RAPIDLY SPREAD FROM THE OUTSIDE OF IACON ALL THE WAY TO POLYHEX. THE WAR INTENSIFIED WITH THE DESTRUCTION OF CRYSTAL CITY, WHICH IS BELIEVED TO HAVE PROMPTED THE MASS NEUTRAL EXODUS FROM THE PLANET.
>>
>>5676312
IN SPITE OF THE ACTIONS TAKEN BY BOTH AUTOBOT AND DECEPTICON FORCES, A SIZABLE AMOUNT OF THE POPULATION TOOK NO ALLEGIANCES AND WORKED AS MERCENARIES. AN ESTIMATE OF THE POPULATION SIZE AT THE HAD THE AUTOBOT AND DECEPTICON FORCES AT 35% OF THE POPULATION, NEUTRALS 10%, AND MERCENARIES CONSTITUTED THE REMAINING 20%. DESPITE THIS MERCENARY CONTRACTS WERE SHORT FOR MOST MERCENARIES, AS THE AUTOBOTS AND DECEPTICONS SUPPLANTED THEIR FORCES WITH AIR WARRIOR AND AUTOTROOPER DRONES RESPECTIVELY. THE DESTRUCTION OF VARIOUS COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT AND SPACE BRIDGES ON BOTH CYBERTRON AND THE COLONIES HAS LEFT ALL THE PLANETS ISOLATED, AND THE LAST TRANSMISSIONS RECEIVED FROM MOST COLONIES POINTS TO A SIMILAR OUTBREAK OF WAR OCCURING BETWEEN THE LOCAL AUTOBOTS AND DECEPTICONS. AS SUCH THE PLANET WAS LOCKED IN A STALEMATE, WITH THE AUTOBOTS HOLDING THE SOUTHWESTERN HALF OF CYBERTRON AND THE DECEPTICONS THE NORTHEASTERN HALF. EFFICIENT RECYCLING AND REPAIR MECHANISMS PRESENT IN BOTH FACTIONS HAVE MADE ATTRITION NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. THE LEAVING OF BOTH THE AUTOBOT AND DECEPTICON’S COMMAND HAS LIKELY LED TO A CEASEFIRE ON CYBERTRON. THIS LEAVES A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR EITHER FACTION TO RETURN AND LAUNCH AN ASSAULT ON THE OTHER WEAKENED FACTION. AS SUCH THE OUTCOME OF THE WAR MAY DEPEND ON THE ACTIONS TAKEN BY EITHER FACTION ON THIS PLANET.”
>>
>>5676312
A sweeping overview of the conflict, with greater knowledge of the conflict it was time to see who the combatants were. Asking Teletraan-1 for a list of the Autobots and Decepticons you are denied.
“AUTOBOT ROSTER AND INTELLIGENCE REPORTS CONCERNING ENEMY NUMBERS ARE RESTRICTED.”

Well. it’s not too surprising. At the very least it should be able to tell you about this planet and the humans crawling on it. Asking Teletraan-1 for information about the Earth, it begins.

“EARTH IS A SOLID PLANET WITH A GREAT VOLUME OF WATER TRAPPED IN AN ATMOSPHERE CAPABLE OF SUPPORTING CARBON LIFE. THE ONLY SENTIENT SPECIES ON THE PLANET ARE THE HUMANS, OR HOMO SAPIEN, WHICH MEANS WISE MAN IN ONE OF THE MANY LANGUAGES THEY COMMUNICATE IN. THEY LIVE TO AN AVERAGE OF ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY STELLAR CYCLES, THOUGH THIS IS ONLY A RECENT AVERAGE, AND THEIR LIFESPAN HAS VARIED VASTLY DEPENDING ON TIME AND REGION. THE HUMANS HAVE SIMILAR OUTLOOKS ON FACTIONAL ALLEGIANCE AS THE CURRENT CYBERTRONIAN, BUT THE EARTH IS SPLIT BETWEEN HUNDREDS OF VARIOUS FACTIONS, WITH VARYING DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THEM. IN SPITE OF THIS DIFFERENCE HUMANITY IS TECHNOLOGICALLY COMPETENT, THOUGH THIS IS CONCENTRATED IN THE NORTHERN AND EASTERN PARTS OF THE PLANET.”
Teletraan-1 displayed a screen that showed a map of the Earth, marking the base’s location somewhere in “United States of America.” and you can see the continent that you landed on.

You still want to know who’s on the roster. Heading out of the archives, you start to ask some nearby passing bots if they could help you. Unfortunately they all refuse, you decide to head to the medbay, hoping that one of the medics could see the value in seeing a familiar face. Once you get there one of the medics that assisted Ratchet greets you.

“Is there a problem?” The female bot asks.
“I’m trying to see if there’s anybody I recognize on this rock, but the roster is locked.”
She hums as she stares at you. “ I suppose there wouldn’t be too much harm in letting you see a limited list.”
“Thanks…” You pause trying to remember what her name was.
“Red Alert.” She answers as she starts heading back towards the archives.

She stands at the front of the computer, rapidly typing away, letting a heavily censored list appear on the screen, she stands aside as you get closer to have a better look.
You don’t recognize any of the faces on the list except the bots you’ve already talked to, and there’s even bots you know missing from the list, like Broadside and Whirl.
The Decepticon list is far less incomplete but none of them pique your interest either. You groan in anger.
Noticing your frustration, Red Alert speaks up. “The roster is damaged, not everyone is listed on them.”
“And you’d censor them if they were on here anyways.”
“Security is a serious matter, you aren’t even an Autobot, letting you see what’s on the screen now is more than generous.” The medic retorts before leaving.
You bring a hand up to your head as you try to decide what to do next.

You need to get your mind off of all this. You head off to the training facility, prepared to occupy yourself with the only thing you know you have some skill at. You are surprised at the size of the facility and how occupied it is. There’s rows of firing ranges, all filled with bots blasting various targets. You spy that one bot near the end is having trouble hitting anything with his wrist guns. There’s couple of fighting circles where Autobots are dueling with either their hands or melee weapons. You see a blue transformer instructing two other bots in a swordfight. In another section of the base there are a few Transformers practicing against groups of training drones. There’s one pink female who just finished trashing a horde of drones idling by. There’s a video screen showing a blue Transformer with a resemblance to Optimus Prime running through a training course with dizzying speed, taking out the targets with superb accuracy. Another viewscreen shows to your astonishment, a bot maneuvering around the course while swapping between six different altmodes. You ponder how he could have gotten that many. Finally you see a small “rest” zone where most of the Autobots are checking over their equipment before getting up to train. There’s one white bot who seems to be thoughtfully sharpening his sword. Sideswipe’s suggestion of fighting to recover your memory plays in your mind, now the only question is who do you ask.

Seeing someone who has experience with swords grabs your attention. He may be able to recognize a fellow swordsman even if your appearance has changed, and while you feel comfortable with your blades practicing with them might be a good idea. The instructor congratulates the two Autobots as they leave the fighting circle. The masked bot turns to face you.
“Hail Cybertronian. I haven’t seen you before, come to learn the finer points of swordsmanship?” The Autobot speaks with a prideful voice as he eyes your weapons.
“That and a bit more about myself. The name’s Sunshrike.”
“Thunderhowl.” He introduces himself. “So you must be the new arrival, I’d be honored to help your recovery if you’d allow me.”
Seems your story is starting to spread, saves you the trouble of describing your problem with every bot you meet.
“I’d appreciate it.”
“Then follow me, the circle is open.”

You step into the small depression, the Autobot on the opposite side with sword and shield drawn. You’re still not completely sure if you still have your sword skills, so you only draw one blade from your back as you wait for one of the other Autobots to give the signal.
“Go!”
You take the offensive, bringing your sword down on Thunderhowl. He blocks, but it does nothing to stem your assault. Carrying your momentum you continue to strike forcing the Autobot to block and parry your unceasing advance. With how well you’re doing, you withdraw another sword and swing overhead and at Thunderhowl’s side.

The Autobot finds a weakness in your double attack, blocking your side strike with his shield and using his sword to disarm your blade. Surprised, you are forced to the defensive. Thunderhowl’s quick strikes prevent you from making any retaliation impossible as he takes control of the flow.

But you find an opportunity when you evade one of his thrusts, countering with an attack of your own, getting back into the same rhythm you made earlier, though you find yourself making defensive swings and parries more often then when you had started.

With your fight starting to stalemate, you take a gamble and, after diverting one of Thunderhowl’s slashes, dash forward and grab your other blade. Learning your lesson from your mistake, you attack with greater caution, applying the blades to the same target and separating them to break the Autobot’s concentrated strikes.

With this Thunderhowl begins to strike back with his shield, while throwing some powerful swings that require you to divert both your blades to intercepting. Eventually he outmaneuvers your defense and strikes your side, making him the victor.

“You fight well.” He compliments.
“You too. Got any other comments?” You ask hoping your style might be recognizable to him.
“Your style is similar to some of my compatriots, especially with just a single blade. Though some of your techniques are closer to some other martial arts, especially Metallikato. You might want to train with Drift, if anyone would recognize another practitioner it’d be him.” Thunderhowl points toward the white bot, who is now examining two different swords. Most of the other bots you saw when you entered are also in relatively the same spot as well.

“Thanks for the help.” You say as you leave Thunderhowl.
“May you find fortune in your quest for recovery.”

Approaching Drift, he speaks without facing you, wiping one of his swords.
“Come to spar?” He asks, looking over his sword before sheathing it.

“So you were watching my match with Thunderhowl? Then you must’ve seen that I’m a user of Metallikato.”
He stares at you as he stands up.
“You have some skill with a blade, but if you are a Transformer of Metallikato is something we can only discover through combat.”

The white armored bot moves to an open circle.
You move into it and stand opposite of him, he has already withdrawn the large sword from his back. You mirror the action and hold a single blade in your two hands.

One of the bots gives the signal to start and you rush forward, meeting Drift’s strike with your own, causing him to stumble back as you slash at his side. He twists his sword, meeting yours. You push him back with more and more of your strikes. But you stay with your single sword, not wanting a repeat of your last duel.

Parrying one of your strikes, Drift sheaths his sword and draws his other two blades. You pull another sword from your back and start matching his blows. The sound of the clashes echoing throughout the building as neither of you manage to seize the advantage.

Then Drift’s strikes begin to disorient you, defying your optics, gliding through your attacks, forcing you to make hasty, sloppy changes to your stance to defend yourself. Slowly you start to sense the Autobot’s movements, your defense solidifying against his assault.

But it is too late, already on of his blades passess through your defenses, maneuvering with your evasion, marking your side.

“You have a history with Metallikato, though I can not be sure if you were trained in it or trained against it.” Drift speaks as he returns his swords to their scabbards.
“With more time I could have a clearer idea of your skill, but I have other promises to keep.”

You want to ask for more from the Autobot, but you yield and depart the circle. You see the pink fembot enter the circle with Drift.

The training facility is still active. You spot an opening in the shooting range. The six-changer who was running one of the courses is standing around the rest area, checking over his two guns.

We've seen how good we are with a sword, I'm curious how good we are with a gun, too.
If that one struggling bot is still at the range, maybe we can help them out now too.

What origin the Transformers has varies from different continuities.

In several of them there are various religions, which just like in irl offer overlapping and contradictory versions of the events (for example, Primus, Quintessens, the Thirteen, the Guiding Hand etc)
The Allspark since the concept was introduced in 2007 (related and later conflated with the earlier "Well of All-sparks")

Is closer to the Great Spirit from Shaman King. It is the ultimate source of all souls that (depending on the Canon) all souls return to when they die.

With only your sharpshooting untested, you walk towards the range. There’s a small console with buttons on the platform you’re behind, and a list of instructions telling you how to input which sort of scenario you want to practice. You input a targeting exercise that ramps up in difficulty. Readying your arm, you start firing as holograms of Decepticons appear across the range. You hold your arm as you snipe the targets, releasing your grip to snap your guns towards the ones that appear nearby. The targets start to get trickier, running around, transforming and blitzing across the range. But you remain unintimidated, hitting ‘cons as soon as they show their ugly mugs. You are however startled when the bright purple flash of laserfire rockets towards your head. You reflexively put a hand up to your face, but luckily the target's gunfire is as fake as them. Your shots are intangible among the light show of lasers as it seems like the range is throwing the entire Decepticon army at you. After the faux-firefight is over the terminal gives your score. An 87% accuracy rating. Not bad for a first try.

“Are you finished?” A young voice asks politely. You turn to face the bot that was having some difficulty shooting when you first came in.
You nod as you exit, he thanks you as he quickly types something in, causing a solitary hologram to appear at the furthest part of the range. You stand there as you watch him miss his shots, your attention shifting from the target towards the bot, noting his awkward firing angle.
“Try aiming with your wrist instead of your hand.” You blurt out at him.
“My hwuh?” The younger Autobot babbles as he turns his head towards you.
To emphasize you curl your digits into a fist, extending your arm with it held down.
He copies you, and misses his shot, though it was closer than the last few.
“Your gun doesn't have the vent power to brace from the top, support it from the bottom.” You lecture him.
He heeds you and the next shot strikes the target, causing it to fade away. He tries again on a few more, experiencing the same success. He then tries a few moving targets at a far closer range. Before he even readies himself to fire you start telling him how to hold his guns. You stand there for his entire session. At the end he gets a rating of 72%. He seems very ecstatic about it.
“72%! The best I’ve ever had has been a 48! Thanks…” He pauses.
“Sunshrike.”
“Sunshrike, thank you. You don’t know how much I’ve tried at this. Sometimes it seems like the other Autobots don’t even want me... Oh, yeah my name’s Novus!” The young Autobot stops his rambling to introduce himself.

“Nice to meet you, glad to have helped.” You reply as you move towards one of the courses.
Novus returns his attention to the range as you stand at the entrance, reading a leaderboard with the top 10 clear times. Stepping inside you find a simple series of walls and barricades, obviously meant to be overcome in your bot mode. There’s a clock to your left that sits idly at 0.00. You get yourself ready and sprint forward. You throw yourself over the obstacles, climbing up walls and deftly jumping down and over anything in your way. You pass by an arch and slow as your foot sinks into a pit of sand. Pulling it out you transform into your helicopter altmode, passing over the terrain with ease. You’re greeted with the face of a large wall, and quickly transforming you cling to its face, scrambling to the top. There’s a plethora of jumps, and you’re too close to the ceiling to try and fly over them. With skilled agility you hop across the chasm, gliding down a ramp to the next room, where you’re greeted by a couple of holographic Decepticons. Swiftly slicing and shooting the targets you proceed to the next area, where a variety of obstacles wait for you to scale them, and a few holograms wait for your attack. You finish the room with ease, and confidently move on to the next. You are surprised and quite literally shocked when a hologram fires on you in the next room, the spherical projectile it fires numbing you as you move to return fire. While you silence one of the holograms, the other continues to fire, your slowed movements doing little to prevent getting hit again. Eventually you blast the last of the drones. The next rooms are similar to the last few, but the staggering fire hampers your speed. You’re either losing time tanking shots or losing it clearing out the drones. Eventually you reach the end, your name doesn't appear on the leaderboard, but you see a few Autobots talking and giving you a thumbs up. You take a closer look and find yourself in the 49th place in a 100 bot list. You look around and notice the facility is far emptier than when you had entered, and decide it’s probably about time for you to leave as well.

You leave the facility, walking through the corridors out to one of the large doors making up the entrance.
“Where do you think you’re going neutral?”
You turn to face a white and black Autobot with a car altmode, he gives you a contemptuous stare as you turn to face him.
“Heading out to do some flying, is that a problem?”
“Only if you make it one, we have to protect this base’s secrecy. If you start trouble don’t try to bring it back here. Prime’s allowed you to leave the base, but that’s it, you’re on your own out there.”
You scoff in acknowledgment as you turn towards the opening doors.

It’s night on the planet, the sun has set leaving only the crescent shine of a single moon and the sparkle of a few lonely stars in the sky. You see a sea of light rise above the horizon of trees in the form of a city. Transforming you take to the cool air, wind pushing past you as you fly across the land into the unknown.

END OF THREAD 1

With the thread finished I'd like to use the rest of the time it has before it slides off the catalog to ask for your input. I'm going to be a lot more active about when to expect posts in the threads from here on out. Next thread will probably happen a week from now at the least. Any advice, complaints, or suggestions are very welcome.
>>
Thanks for the thread, Teletraan. It's been fun, and I'm pretty curious to see what you've got planned for Sunshrike and the story.

If I had to say something though, I'd suggest working on pacing a bit and give us more impactful choices, maybe. We had a strong start with plenty of great choices that felt like they really mattered, like choosing where we landed and seeing how that went, choosing our alt mode, choosing which side to interact with first, the fight with the seekers that showed off what we could do with our alt mode, you had me at the edge of my seat for a while and every choice felt like it went somewhere with substance and it felt rewarding and important. But once we got to the autobot base, it felt like it bogged things down and a whole lot of nothing just happened for a while.

It was definitely neat giving us so many of the 'bots to interact with and choices on what to do in the base, but a lot of it felt kind of hollow. We interacted with a bunch of autobots, but it didn't feel like we really made any connections. It's like playing a video game where I press X to talk to an NPC and hear two or three generic voice lines before walking away and completely forgetting the interaction even happened. Maybe it would be better to let Sunshrike spend more time with the 'bots he interacts with so it feels more substantial than just "press x and walk away"?
There were a lot of things to do on base, but most basically ended the same way of "nope, no clues about who you are", which got tiring after a while and made it feel like it dragged on since the same message was repeated over and over. The training grounds were interesting because we learned more about what Sunshrike is capable of through it, though.

Anyway, I hope I don't sound to whiny, just my two cents. No matter where or how you take the quest though, I'll definitely be sticking around since it's still a fun ride and I'm grateful that someone's finally doing a Transformers quest.

I also wasn't that much into staying in base (liked the lore dump tho) but you gotta take into account most anons consistently voted for staying. Not really QMs fault.

What I disliked tho was a choice for a continent to land into which seemed pivotal but it got railroaded into US in just a few choices later. The travel time from Africa to North America also seemed unreally short. Traversing distances should feel more impactful.
>>
>>5689059
Fair point about the voting. Admittedly, I also voted to stay in the base, but just because I thought we'd find some kind of clue about who we are as a next step in the breadcrumb to follow.

I agree with getting railroaded to the US being a bit disappointing. I thought we'd stay in Africa a while and make some kind of impact. Maybe we would have if we chose to interact more with the humans rather than go to Seaspray, but eh. At the very least I thought the trip would be a thread-long journey of discovery, both in terms of discovering more about Earth and the humans/cybertronians we meet along the way, and learning about Sunshrike himself. Instead we kind of just "skipped to the next scene" of being in the base and just fucked around doing nothing of importance or consequence. I'll chalk it up to QM just getting a feel for the story, the readers and the writing though and I'm sure we'll have a more refined story in thread 2.
