Welcome back.

Rules are simple: Votes are tallied every hour, with whatever course of action being the most popular being the course of action taken. Write ins are encouraged and non-mutually exclusive votes will be combined if possible.

When a roll is called for, roll however many D100 are specified. 5- is a 'crit fail' and generally means something bad is about to happen. 95+ is a 'crit success' and generally means something good just happened. a 'crit success' trumps a crit fail. User input on both will be taken into consideration.

For a short summary for the new and to recap:

You are Alex. A newly minted trainer and camping enthusiast just starting out on your journey at the age of seventeen after your father lost his job in order to help pay the bills. On the road, you met Fie, the Fire Gym Leader, Gareth a novice Aura Guardian on pilgrimage and Holly, a runaway heiress using a pseudonym. You've also made enemies of Team Green a group of violent, radical activists looking to abolish pokemon training.

Last time, you defeated Team Green after luring them into a massed battle with yourself, Fie, Jacky, Wendy - the Flying Gym Leader, and Holly. In the wake of the battle, you found Holly a teacher and returned the Bell Tongue to Slowking before making camp as a storm hit the island.

Actually, on reflection, you do know what to think:

They've graduated from being an annoyance to an actual problem and if they're going to keep throwing themselves at you like a swarm of Zubat, you welcome the experience for your team and the sweet, sweet money they pad your trainer card with.

You'll have to ask Detective winters about being deputised or something...

When you wake up the next morning, it's to the sound of hard impacts on the canvas of the tent rather than your alarm going off and a quick look outside shows that the culprit are hailstones.

Fortunately, they're not massive. Still plenty large, but golf ball size instead of tennis ball size.

You still don't really want to go out there right now though.

Looking at the weather map, the storm should blow out to sea by around late morning or lunch time.

It's not ideal, but it's better than somehow missing a cyclone warning, you suppose.

Still, between the trees and Syurm's canopy, the worst of the hail is being stopped, but it's still ice cold outside.

You're suddenly very grateful for Sage's clinginess.

Tempting as it is to have a lay-in, it's a better use of your time to get the fire going.

Going out to check, you find the coals still hot, mostly sheltered from the wind and rain.

The addition of some light wood later and with a little help from Sage, you soon have the fire crackling merrily as you feed on some heavier wood and set some water to boiling as you get breakfast cooking.

You're looking forward to tea when you hear the brush rustle behind you.

You go shake out some food for the Wingull, then return to the fire and start a fresh lesson with Sage.

She's a lot more alert and attentative this morning and you manage to move on from just the alphabet, to basic words.

You're about half an hour into the lesson and breakfast is just about ready when you hear more rustling.

Turning around, you see that Wingull has been joined by a similarly bedraggled friend and they're both enjoying the food you left out.

It's back to just raining now and it's still windy, but the camp is a lot warmer than it was when you woke up and you can hear Holly waking up and getting ready for the day.

Show them a picture.
Also if they are succesfull offer them more food if they can show us Meditite or Medicham.
These could really work well for our aura training and if the idea of mastering a move leads to creating an ability then the Yoga meditation of the Meditite line means potentially unlocking Pure Power (Yoga Powa in Japanese), if nothing else Alex gets physical exercise and meditation training.

We need to lean more into our aura training and benefit the pokemon we can specialize in so right now aside from more fighting types we need more fire types too otherwise Alex will be mistaken for a Dragon type specialist (especially if he catches a Cyclizar later).

A list of what i would include:
>Medicham (to see if Alex can gain the ability and if nothing else aid for meditation)
>a male Blaizeken (to pacify Cinder so she wants to mate with Alex's pokemon rather than him)

Other than those two the rest is a blank slate for type specialty but i'd like to mention a few that would be suitable:
>Hitmontop (it's the capoeira pokemon)
>Incineroar (it's toolkit is amazing and can really mess with opponents+catboyfriend for Volta)
>Breloom (Spore and being able to work on a field covered in Toxic spikes would be great for setting traps against TG)
>Houndoom (we are already training a doggie and the experience will apply here as well/a mate for Blitz)
>Paldeian Tauros Fire (for the farm plan, it's stronk and we can ride it)

As for non Fire or Fighting types:
>Cyclizar (ride, mate for KayO and we can attempt to let her teach Shift Gear to Rusty... Shift Gear Rock head Aggron sound terrifying)
>Scyther (mate for best bug Syrum, something tells me Ethan will offer that first Scyther we caught to us later after he tests us, potential Keavor)
>Shuckle (home support for making rare candies in the garden and maintaining boobytraps around home)
>Several Miltank (for the farm plan)
>Several Mareep
>Several Gogoat
>Several Wooloo

The Wingull look at you, before the first one caws and flutters off.

The remaining three shrug, before returning to the food.

You guess the first Wingull has decided to bring you a friend of its to meet.

Leaving the three other Wingull to it, you return to the lesson with Sage as Holly and Gardevoir come out.

"Is it going to stop raining today?" Holly asks anxiously.

"It will." You assure, looking up from your practice with Sage.

She's definitely on the ball this morning and ready to learn. You're running out of three-letter words and off the top of your head, you can't actually recall the hundred most used words in Galarian, so you're actually running out of material. Not necessarily a bad problem to have, but still one you'll have to rectify.

"It's just going to be a few hours. Breakfast's nearly ready, by the by." You add.

Holly nods and settles in to wait, before at a polite cough from Gardevoir, she fishes out her own pokedex and haltingly begins teaching Gardevoir to read.

You run out of material for Sage to review just before breakfast.

It's pretty simple, since you're running out of food by now - just a simple porridge, really - but it's hot and warms up what chill the fire hasn't been able to drive out of the clearing.

Once you're finished and the dishes are cleared, you decide to read up on the Gym Leaders.

Next on your list is of course, Fie, but you already know enough about her to be going on with.

Emma is another matter and to say she's formidable would be an understatement.

Looking at her profile and her usual World Tournament team, it's small wonder she was an Elite Four member:

Where some Fire-type leaders opt for raw power, Emma has a reputation for leveraging status effects and debuffs as her favoured strategy - rendering her opponents helpless before sweeping them.

Either way, after Saltcoast comes Redmont on the overland route, where Fie's father, Norris, is leader and reading his profile, the impression you got watching his exhibition match with Justine, the Ferrisville Leader, is spot on: His strategy is that of brute force and simply pounding his opponents into the dirt, without finesse or subtlety, before they can set up.

The closest he apparently comes to any sort of tactical consideration, is using dual-type pokemon like Pangoro or Scrafty to counter Psychic types.

After Norris, is Halfway City and the Electric Leader, Schafer, referred to throughout his profile by his other moniker of 'The Colonel'.

His favoured strategy is apparently speed and pivoting, backed up raw strength, though he's rather clearly more tactically inclined than Norris, going by his profile.

Then there's Wendy, Fie's mother and the Leader of Galeport, whom you met yesterday and you're not at all surprised to learn that she has a reputation for being a far harder prospect to beat than her ex-husband.

Switches, buffs, pivots, counterplay, entry hazards - it's very evident from what you're reading and what you saw yourself yesterday that Wendy is ferociously competent and isn't inclined to going easy on her opponents or letting easy strategies like 'electric types' go unpunished.

Moving west along the southern ocean route and through the Ferris Bay Islands to Ferrisville and Justine, it's not much of a surprise to read after her exhibition match with Norris that she's a fan of counterplay and messing with accuracy, but as befitting a Steel-type specialist, she also likes to play Defense a lot.

You blink and rub your eyes before checking the time.

A good hour has passed and your legs are starting to go numb from sitting down so long.

You stand with a stretch before going to fetch your grooming kit and almost immediately have Sage jumping on you with excitement as she takes your spot.

Her excitement is a actually a little bit of an impediment to doing a good job until she finally calms down, by which point a good ten minutes have passed, but you do eventually manage to brush the tangles out of her ear tufts and ruff, before moving onto the rest of her coat and tail.

You're about to move onto Kay O-o after you're finished and Sage stands and walks off looking very pleased, when a squawk alerts you to Wingull having returned to the flock of fifteen others on the periphery, accompanied by a Wattrel, which is eyeing you curiously.

"Hey there, Wattrel. Would you like to come with me? I've got a great friend who would like a flying buddy to accompany him on his journey. Are you interested in having a trainer?" You ask, maintaining a respectful distance while you ask.

Both because you don't want to come off as too aggressive and because you don't want to get attacked if Wattel isn't interested regardless.

"Naturally you would get training, grooming and great food from him." You add as the little yellow and black bird tilts its head in clear interest.

I've not seen or heard anything.

There's been sour grapes from the Opposition that got booted in last year's election over the Budget and some minor grumbling about Tasmania getting an AFL Team when cost of living is as high as it is, but beyond that, the only thing that vaguely fits the bill is the Greens party misrepresenting a minor expansion to an existing coal mine that mines coking coal for steel manufacturing to make it sound like it's a whole new mine for energy production.

That's all recent and minor bullshit though, the biggest piece of shitfuckery I can think of is the Robodebt Royal Commission, but that's about the criminal cunt-baggery of the party that got voted out last election.

If it's none of that though, I'll have to look into it, because I do try to stay informed about that sort of thing.

You're tempted to tear down camp now and get going, but before you get more than halfway to the tent, you pause and realise you'll have to pitch it later to dry it later to stop mold from growing on it.

Packing a wet tent is also miserable, so despite your eagerness to get going, you instead pack up your sleepgear and bags instead before going to your spot from last night and starting to work on your Capoeira.

You're just getting into the swing of things when your phone pings a message from Gareth.

Even better if you can levitate your self or teleport short distances.
The first lesson in any martial art is to pick your fights and run circles around your opponent or run away when it's too much trouble.
A fully grown man, even a slob will easily overpower most women that aren't as trained as Fie or Martha so you need to be careful, think fast and fight dirty.
Pepper spray, extendable batons and so on are also options as long as you remain within legal boundraries.

+1 she isn't ready for training morever that will take a while for her to manage anything even with the all clear from the doctor.

While it's probably best to get her legs looked at before doing the martial arts practice, we could just focus on getting her in shape, general strength training and all that are the foundation of any good martial art.
Of course, maybe giving her something basic like a horse stance to practice would be good too b/c we don't want her to feel like she's useless

"Sure thing." You reply. "We'll start with some general conditioning until you've seen a doctor about your feet." You say, before setting her to planking and holding the position for set intervals.

You quickly finish up your own practice in between timing her, before focusing exclusively on conditioning training for her.

"What's this got to do with self-defense?" Holly asks after a while in-between sit-ups.

"For one thing, fighting is exhausting, so you need stamina to maintain it." You explain. "For two... well, you're a girl." You say apologetically.

"Thanks for that, Captain Obvious." Holly says as she goes back down and struggles up again.

"Not what I meant." You reply. "Even an untrained, out of shape man could overpower you, so you've got to be careful - think fast, stay mobile and fight dirty." You explain. "Even Fie doesn't go in for straight-up brawling. She trips, targets joints and sensitive points." You add, recalling some of the times you've seen her fight.

"So... I've got to be strong before I can fight?" Holly asks.

"It would be for the best. Also, I don't want you hurting your feet today, because we've still got to get back to Saltcoast, so for today: conditioning." You reply. "In the meantime, I'd focus on your pokemon and training your psychic talent with Gardevoir." You reply. "Even if you just float a rock or something, that ought to be enough to convince most people to leave you alone." You add.

"You think that's all it'd take?" Holly asks.

"Would you want to fight someone who could bounce you off the scenery and is visibly showing they have the capacity?" You ask in return.

Holly grimaces, before shaking her head.

"Point." She admits.

The rain has by now, finally stopped and the sun has even come out.

Your tent is going to take a while to dry if you wait for evaporation to do its thing.

Time to cheat.

You seal it up, before calling Rascal over.

"Okay Rascal, I want you to use Wing Attack to raise a draft over the tent." You reply. "Try use Gust, or Whirlwind."

Rascal cocks his head to the side, before cawing and fluttering into the air, spreading his wings, then bringing them down and across, raising a blast of air that rips the tent pegs clean out of the ground and sends the tent sailing into the brush.

Well, so much for that idea...

"Good try, Rascal. Or work? I dunno." You admit sheepishly, scratching your head, before looking after your tent.

There's a pause as the Wingull look at each other, before one caws and they shuffle their wings in apparent assent.

You hurry on past and retrieve you tent, now slightly drier, before heading back to the camp and returning with some trail mix, which is starting to go stale and shaking it out.

Almost immediately, the horde descends and starts devouring your offering with many an appreciable caw.

While the horde feasts, an idea strikes you.

You head back to camp and blend a batch of poke blocks, before coming back to see all the Wingull looking up at you.

Perfect.

"So..." you say, crouching down and showing them a picture of Team Green from a news article on your pokedex. "You see these guys?" You ask, receiving an affirmative caw.

"Well, if you do your business on them, people will give you food like this." You say, offering the batch of poke blocks.

They take them happily and perk up immediately, before cawing enthusiastically, some taking off and heading away.

Apparently this tidbit was very well received and understood and soon the flock's dispersed.

You get a very firm sense that here in the Barrier Islands at least, Team Green will have an absolutely miserable time.

You just sit back and enjoy the cruise, feeding some of your dwindling supply of treats to Wattrel as he perches on your shoulder.

You're wary of another attempted ambush, but either the whatever Team Green members are on the boat have some twisted code of honour about being in-uniform or not, or they're not game enough to try after the island.

It's an uneventful trip back to Saltcoast and after returning the saddle you borrowed for Rascal, you catch a taxi back to the gym and make it back around late afternoon.

Syurm lashes out with a hail of razor-edged leaves just as Rhyhorn is beginning to glow and scores a direct hit, earning a pained bellow from Rhyhorn as it collapses onto its belly, leaving Mike staring.

Apparently, he was expecting to at least survive one hit from Syurm, but it's clear her own experience far outstrips Rhyhorn now.

Before you can get a word out, Breloom darts in and plants its fist hard into Syurm's thorax.

"Secret Power!" You order and before Breloom can withdraw, it's been knocked off balance as Syurm shoulder checks it, before she trips it with a length of String shot and then jumps and comes down hard on Breloom's back in an elbow drop, scattering a cloud of spores everywhere, but having no effect on Syurm as she bounds up and leaves Breloom struggling up to its feet, spasming occasionally from paralysis.

A brief look at both pokemon through your aura sight reveals both their vitals still green, but a pale green rather than the vibrant forest green it normally is.

You've got a major advantage right now with Breloom paralysed and Mike one pokemon down already. The question ultimately is how you want to round this fight out, because while Syurm doesn't have any moves that would really finish this quickly, the same can't be said for the other members of your team, some of whom arguably could use the experience more.

"Well, you've been training, at the very least." He concedes in annoyance as he recalls Breloom. "Whatever. See you around, faggot." He says, before walking off without a backward glance.

You get the distinct impression that there's a lot less genuine hostility behind the insult now and that he's had to grow up some along the way.

Not a bad change in your view, in the slightest.

You head on into the Gym and the receptionist waives you on through into the back.

It's getting kind of late by now and as it turns out, Gareth is done for the day and enjoying a cup of tea in Fie's apartment when you walk in with his team.

"Hey, how did it go?" He asks. "Fie said you'd run into some trouble."

"Wait, you talked him into coming along to meet me?" Gareth asks incredulously, absolutely floored. "...Why?" He asks, baffled.

"Wound up having to rough it for a few days due to Team Green." You reply, then smile wryly. "You should see them. They decided to try chasing me and one of my friends into Frigoris Forest. It didn't end particularly well for them. I'm expecting a pretty good bounty payout once the police have processed them."

Your dad shakes his head.

++"Well, so long as you're okay."++ He says in what sounds like defeat. ++"I suppose we'll hear about it on the news sometime this week."++

"Probably." You confirm, before pausing. "So... How're my pokemon doing?" You ask.

Switch :

>Out : Kay O-o, Syurm and Blitz
>In : Nika, Rusty and Ayumi

It should be safer the following days.
We can focus on babycare for Nika, meeting Ayumi, pushing Rusty over the edge of evolution.

Blitz and Syurm are tough outs; we already have a strong-ish fire type, can be convinced to switch out Sage instead for Blitz. If we go on the road, maybe keep Syurm instead of trading for Ayumi

Also, can be convinced to get Queenie for training a match made in heaven against Fie's dad team.

You chat for a bit, before swapping Kay O-o and Syurm out for a break, replacing them with Fluffy and Volta for the time being, before swapping Blitz for Nika.

At your dad's questioning, you assure that you're not going to be doing anything to strain the former pair and just want to spend time with them for the evening and you'll swap them for Rusty and Queenie in the morning.

You say your goodbyes after that, before releasing the three of them as you settle down to fill Gareth in on everything that happened.

Or, try to.

You wind up relocating to the couch so Volta and Nika can tuck in either side of you while Fluffy settles on your lap.

Nika seems particularly clingy, though it seems more because she missed you than anything like how Sage is.

Volta and Fluffy meanwhile just seem glad to have some downtime with you and with how Volta's purring, it's clear there're no hard feelings.

Gareth meanwhile is growing more and more incredulous as you outline first how things went at the shrine on Imbrium Cape, then at Team Green's doggedness in trying to find you in Frigoris Forest, before by the time you get to encountering Celebi and the ensuing battle, he looks so overloaded you're not sure if he's going to faint or not.

"...Arceus above..." He manages at last. "So Team Green was trying to mess with time somehow..." He says.

"Seems that way, but I never bothered to try getting their actual plan out of them." You reply.

"It'll have been something like trying to propagate their beliefs in the path somehow to overwrite proper history." Gareth says. "Or something inexcusably stupid like that."

"You going to tell the other Guardians?" You ask.

"Yes, this is the sort of thing we're sworn to prevent." Gareth confirms. "Meanwhile, you managed another Aura Strike?" He asks, sounding intrigued.

"Yeah, I was meditating and practicing and I guess I got carried away, because I cut a tree down accidentally. Somehow."

"It might be for the best if you stuck with less kinetic meditation until we've visited Genesis Cave." Gareth suggests. "Just so there're no accidents. You've got a strong connection with Aura, but your control over it is... Well, you've only managed these strikes sporadically, so not quite up to the task." He says politely.

"Oh. Well, that makes sense." You agree. "How've things been here?"

"They've been getting busier now that the League season is starting to get going properly." Gareth replies. "I've been managing to get in some good training though and playing the Gym Trainer's been good for helping get some more practice at battling."

"Yeah, I'm going to give syurm and Kay O-o a break." You admit. "They've both more than earned it."

"I'm glad you're not going to lean on Kay O-o for everything." Gareth agrees. "It's a terrible habit and you've got plenty of other pokemon to train yet."

"And don't I know it." You agree with a grimace, ruffling Nika's ears.

Just then you hear the shower cut out, just as the door opens to admit a tired looking Fie.

"Well, I couldn't have timed this much better." She says, walking over.

>Let Fie go first.

Gareth shakes his head.

"That's rather shameless, don't you think?" He asks Fie.

"I just got done chasing a pack of idiots with delusions of grandeur around South Crescent Island." Fie says. "If I want to spend half an hour under a hot shower making out with my boyfriend, I'm going to do that and damn what anyone thinks." She says flatly.

"...If you say so..." Gareth says politely, apparently sensing he was on shaky ground.

"Good. Now c'mon." She says, addressing you.

You give Nika, Fluffy and Volta an apologetic look before returning them.

"One sec..." You say, before going and swapping Fluffy and Volta for Queenie and Rusty.

This done with, Fie tows you into the bathroom implacably as Holly comes out.

She gives Fie a startled look, but doesn't have time to say anything before the door's shut and Fie is stripping off with an air of impatience.

"...Was running around really that bad?" You ask, turning your back as you follow Fie's lead and try not to have a heart attack.

Nothing happened last time, after all...

"It sucked." She says flatly. "As did having to listen to Team Green carry on like two year olds for not letting them assault me for trying to stop them."

"Well... let me make it up to you." You say.

"Don't go getting any funny ideas." Fie advises.

"You know the past few days i really wished you were there with me. Barring the interruption of TG we could have taken a dip with a family of Swampert at the lake clearing i mentioned.
I could have done without the getting high on Musharna dream mist tho."

Do give her a slap on the gluteus maximus after being done with talking and shower.

"I won't." You assure as you step in after her and are met by a scolding hot spray of water that doesn't seem to bother Fie but nearly has you jumping straight back out again.

"Too hot?" Fie asks.

"A bit." You admit.

She adjusts the temperature, before passing you the shampoo while she works on scrubbing herself clean.

"That wasn't a bad showing out there." She says after a bit as you focus on working knots out of her hair and getting it clean.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah, mum was impressed and she's got super-high standards." Fie says as you continue to work. "But man... you just can't seem to go ten steps without finding trouble." She says as you finish up and obligingly turn around to let Fie finish up.

"In fairness, I hardly go looking for it." You defend.

"You can get out of it pretty reliably as well, which counts for a lot." Fie agrees before hugging you from behind and handing you the soap. "So. Find anything interesting besides an Ariados nest while you were camping out?"

"Found a herd of Musharna and got high on Dream Mist." You reply as you focus on washing yourself. "There were a pair of Swampert and their young in a small pond at our first camp in the forest as well." You add, before you briefly describe the clearing Latias found.

"Arceus, you're game. One of these days, you're going to run into a pokemon that's not interested in talking or being placated. You know that, right?" She asks.

"I know." You assure. "Just with this whole circus, I kind of figured that it was worth the risk though."

"Still, you get hurt pulling another stunt like that, I'm breaking your legs." Fie warns sweetly.

"...Okay..." You say cautiously.

You're quiet after that as you finish up washing, before you just stand there under the spray with Fie and luxuriate in the heat until she kills the water with a sigh and steps out.

"No peeking." She says, before handing you a towel through the door.

You dry off and head out after Fie's done and get changed quickly before retrieving your team as you find Fie all but passed out on the couch while Gareth cooks and Holly practices with her abilities with her Gardevoir.

"Dinner's going to be about an hour." Gareth says.

"If you're looking to train, just pick up after yourself." Fie says, waving a hand. "I'm being lazy tonight and woe be unto anyone who tries to stop me." She declares as she switches on the TV and cues something up to stream.
