Ah, yes, Cuddling, commonly defined as the act of lying closely together while caressing each other. To hug tenderly. To nestle. To snuggle. To stay close in a long embrace. These incredibly handy insights are being provided by your level 5 Knowledge, aren’t you glad that this information is useful? You wouldn’t have had it otherwise! You were already the one true monarch of coziness, but every inch of knowledge makes you a better human being, doesn’t it?

‘Why are you concerned about cuddling?’ You ask yourself in your own inner monologue. The answer is simple! Before you went on an adventure where you cuddled with many women, you promised one particular sweet redhead that you’d snuggle with her before drifting off into dreams. And that’s what you’re about to do!

In one of the many rooms in Matilda’s dojo, a futon was specially laid out for you for a good night’s rest — you know it was Wilma because she left a one-line note on the pillow wishing you sweet dreams.

This place doesn’t look big enough to hold these many rooms, they’re tiny and compact, but still! The fact that everyone has their own space for the night is pretty impressive! So here you are, in your own cube waiting for Scarlet to return in her pajamas. She didn’t have any clothes when you randomly decided to stay the first time (she had to borrow clothes from Ruby, and you’ll never forget how that went...), but she requested a change of clothes while in Dream Hill.

The first thing you’ll do tomorrow morning is to pay a visit to the cemetery. To meet Fiora… But will you go alone?

Recruit someone for tomorrow?

>Yes. Bring Amelia.
>Yes. (Write-In Who.)
>No.

Votes:

Votes are counted until 25 minutes have passed. This rule doesn't apply to the last reply of the day.
Votes that require a dice roll are counted until 15 minutes have passed, so we can speed up the process. Rolls are counted until 10 minutes have passed, so be prepared!

(NEW) Dice Mechanic:

We always roll 1d100s!
Since most people weren’t happy with the system of averaging top four rolls, we’re using best of 2/3/4 depending on the attribute a prompt requires. If Johnny is a genius and it’s a Knowledge based roll, he gets more rolls (Max. 7)! If he sucks, he gets less dice (Min. 2)!

When asked for rolls, I will specify how many you’re going to get. Rolling begins after it’s asked.

Rolling 100 is a critical! There are no Critical Failures anymore!

The difficulty of the roll is tied with the effectiveness of the action. In other words, the harder the option the better the result!

Don’t forget that at the end of the day, this is a story-driven quest! What the prompts are describing is more important than the difficulty of the rolls, for results in a fight.

Again, rolls are only counted when they are posted within ten minutes of being asked, so watch out!

You’ll probably bring Amelia. It’s looking likely that it’s going to be about your mom, it’s in her grave. You don’t want to feel guilty about excluding your little sister from any family business unlike that worm Joel. Anyway, the decision has been made. You better start thinking about something else before souring your mood.

The pessimistic shadows of the past are scurried away by the bubbly redhead’s rays of positivity! Scarlet has arrived! She’s wearing a tight top that shows her midriff and short pants. Perfect clothes to laze around in after a long day of work, and even better for cuddling! She drags the door closed without turning around.

“I-I’m back…!” Scarlet sounds a little nervous. “Did I take long?”

A-ha! Your next answer will set up the mood, tread carefully… Or don’t! It’s Scarlet! You’re close with her, you can be yourself.

What do you do?

>“No, not at all.” Be casual. Also, compliment her looks.
>“Are you ready for some good old-fashioned cuddling?” Open the covers and wiggle your eyebrows. Have fun.
>“Any time without you feels like an eternity...” Be cheesy like one of Pascaline’s dairy products.
>“Join me in my chambers, fair maiden.” It’s time for the Comfy Kingdom to capture The Bubble Mountains.

“Pay no mind to the time and join me in my chambers, fair maiden.” You open up the gates for the Frosty Princess.

“Oh yeah.” Scarlet starts relaxing. “I forgot you’re a goof.”

“That’s no manner of speaking to someone’s kind invitation…” You act a little offended. “I’m sincerely opening the doors to my kingdom for the night of our dreams, fair maiden.”

“Oh no, it’s just like Mat said...!” Scarlet is starting to feel cheated out of a nice moment.

“You wish to decline?” You look dejected.

“Nope! But I’ll make sure you’re going to have a good night’s sleep!” The redhead is legitimately concerned. “Leave it to me. Let’s get you really comfortable!” Scarlet gets inside the futon! “Let me take these off you…”

The Frosty princess wants to take your glasses off. She’s most likely planning on caressing your head until you fall asleep while holding you tightly. That doesn’t sound bad in the slightest, but…

What do you do?

>Fall asleep in Scarlet’s arms. You're a joyous king...
>Demand to use her buttocks as a pillow. A king’s whims must be satisfied.
>“You’re getting wrong, fair maiden. A king’s will is to cherish his people.” Hug Scarlet and take charge. She’s the one who’ll get her dream night!

“You’re getting it wrong, fair maiden. A king’s will is to cherish his people.” You turn sideways and put your arm around her back.

W-What?” Scarlet freezes before touching your glasses…!

You pull the dummy redhead’s head on your chest, and start patting her hair.

I said it’s your turn to relax, dummy.” You drop character for a moment. You know she was worried about you the entire time you were in the bubble. “Do you enjoy the comfort of my chambers, fair maiden?”

“Y-Yeah, my liege…?” Scarlet tries to play along but her ignorant ass doesn’t know how the great people of the middle ages used to speak. You don’t know either, but you know you can’t drop the facade no matter what!

“I see an utter lack of belief in your words. Please, make yourself as comfortable as you wish.” The king’s words are law.

Alwight...” Scarlet decides to hug you back. Your bodies are pressed against each other! “Much bettew.” She closes her eyes…

Does this count as conquering the Bubble Mountains? She’s the one gaining territory!

What do you do?

>Let the Fair Maiden do as she pleases. Make sure she falls asleep first before closing your eyes.
>Say something nice before falling asleep. You need the rest.
>Launch an attack on Bubble Butt Town. Let the hand of comfy justice survey the area.

Whatever this is, you feel like maintaining this peace between these two territories is more than worth it. You’ll let the Fair Maiden do as she pleases, it’s her time and nobody else’s!

“Tonight it’s all about you, my Frosty Princess…” You whisper.

What did you call me…?” Scarlet didn’t hear you right. Too comfy to care, really.

“Rest, my dear. Don’t be concerned about anything else.” You rather not repeat that.

“Hmm…” Scarlet is bugged by that. “Did you call me what you always call me?”

“Beautiful perhaps?” You try to smooth this out.

“I’ll let this go…” She liked that too much and was too sleepy to keep this going.

But what she didn’t let go was those risky grabs in near-dangerous zones of your body, mostly concentrated around your back. Do the ladies have a thing for what you have behind or what?! Anyway, when it comes to getting touchy, Scarlet is a little far from taking full advantage unlike a little smug lady and a pair of tomatoes…

It’s very ungentlemanly to recall other encounters while giving comfort to a lovely lady, so you’ll stop. But to be fair, you don’t get groped like this often!

Scarlet is slowly being drifted into the realm of dreams… The funny hand movement is all but over, all it’s left is the actual act of lying closely together. Hugging tenderly. The nestle. The snuggle. The long and loving embrace.

It’s nice and comforting.

You’re a happy king, and a lucky man...

What do you do?

>It’s your turn to fall asleep, a long day is ahead.
>”Thanks for sticking by me and helping, Scarlet. It really means a lot to me.” Say nice things to Scarlet even if she is asleep. Then sleep.
>Tease Scarlet during the morning about her happy hands.

Hey guys so I was thinking and…aside from Fiora knowing our mom and Kobashi (allegedly) we have no in-character reason to trust her. For all we know, she’s calling us to our mother’s grave for an ambush.

I think that in addition to inviting Amelia, because this meeting is pertinent to her, we should invite one other person to act as potential hidden backup. Either Galactic Calamity or Henry would work well I think.

We kinda fucked up with Henry and pissed him off, causing him to go solo, because we didn’t invite him to our cult-busting shindig. To be fair, that’s because we were supposed to just be scouting, it wasn’t supposed to go loud. I think that if we explain that to him and tell him it’s a similar situation this time it should go a long way towards patching up with him. He’s actually a fairly strong combatant, it’s easy to forget but he was pretty clutch in the fight with Nina/Icioba back in the day.

On a separate note, we owe Susie/Neko a favor for the info she looked up for us before we went into the bubble realm. Obviously we’re going to tell Scarlet and the Motley Crew about the intel we gathered, but I propose that we phrase it such that supplying that info serves as our payment to Neko.
>>
>>5598808
Good idea

>>5598060
Backing inviting Henry like >>5598808 said too.
A way to get some more older characters into the plot again. Screentime and all that
>>
>>5598808
Eh, Fiora ambushing us is a pretty big stretch. We've talked to her before and she seemed completely fine and like, we know for a fact that she knows Kobashi.

I think just Ame will be enough, especially since we'll probably be discussing some personal stuff and I feel like it'll only make Henry more mad if we bring him on a mission and he ends up doing nothing
>>
>>5599000
No harm in being cautious. I don’t personally suspect Fiora either, but having an ace up your sleeve is never a bad thing.

Sure Henry might get pissed off from being called out then not doing anything but like…can’t help that. As long as we make it clear we have don’t expect trouble but want to be ready for it he’s free to decline at that point.

Out of Johnny’s character, Fiora ought to be part of…the temple lady’ team that I forgot the name of. That temple lady is known to be heading up the Prancijan govt’s team dealing with flame shenanigans. They are definitely an unknown quantity at this point, no telling if they’ll be friendly or hostile to Johnny.
>>
>>5599057
But there is a way to to help it, just like don't invite him a random meeting about our dead mom, right? I feel it'd just kinda be awkward and make him think we just invited him to give him something to do instead of actually trusting him with an important mission

And if you're actually worried about us being attacked and wanna be more safe than sorry shouldn't we bring a whole bunch more people other than Henry? I just think that Ame is enough and she actually has a reason to be there. She can even fly us away on the off chance shit goes awry
>>
>>5599106
I think there’s enough possible threat to warrant one person being hidden (accordingly not hearing about all our dead mom stuff and avoiding that awkwardness), but not so much as to warrant bringing a huge force to bear. These things aren’t binary where we have to throw 0% or 100% anyway.

As for Ame flying us away, I’d agree that it alone is enough…except that Fiora specifically has already demonstrated a very strong ability to lock opponents in place. If we try to fly away with Ame she can hold us down, but if we try to fly away with Ame and have someone round to disrupt Fiora’s ability we’ll definitely get off scot free.
>>
>>5599258
But let's say we bring Henry and we decide to get the fuck out cause things are looking bad, that's gonna be a whole lot harder when there's another person to deal with. Like, are we just gonna leave him behind? I feel like we can just throw a spear at her with Philo in the very slight chance she decides to something and binds the bear

Also, why bring Henry in particular? Like, surely Nariko would agree and she's more involved in our personal lives and she probably wouldn't complain if there's no action (which is the most likely outcome). I'm just saying, if we call Henry to join us on a mission he's probably gonna expect something at least closely resembling the cult stuff in importance and is probably gonna get mad if it's just a low level importance mission like something Nina would give him

”Thanks for sticking by me and helping, Scarlet. It really means a lot to me.” You say nice things to Scarlet as you caress her face, even if she is asleep. Maybe she heard you…

“….” Nope, Scarlet is 100% asleep. No sign she heard you. She was already smiling before you said anything and nothing changed. She still looks cute but…

You steal her nose before going to sleep yourself. You wish Philonune a good night, and hope you don’t pay a visit to any dream world that isn’t in your subconscious…

It’s morning…! Of Which day? Who knows! You should learn what day it is. You can check it on your phone. Oh yes, your beautiful phone that disappeared while you were in the Bubble Dimension. You didn’t appreciate its return so you’ll do it now. Appreciation time is done! It’s Friday the 23rd of June!
You’re in time to prepare to go to classes, but screw that, you have a meeting at the cemetery! Even if you wanted to go, it’s not like you can prepare your day with Scarlet on top of you. Hmm… You don’t mind staying cozy together for a little longer…

Too bad, Scarlet’s alarm decided it’s time to be a nuisance! She bounces on top and off from you by the scare! You got a little chuckle out of the situation. The redhead was a little embarrassed. You two went to the kitchen to eat breakfast and get on with your day. It was you, Scarlet, Matilda and Oliver.

Lise, Dorothy, Xavi, Galactic and Kata all left yesterday to the clinic to meet with Constance. Jesse left by his own accord, citing that he had business to take care of (like going to college). And lazy Wilma sleeps late.

Just because you’re skipping school doesn’t mean everyone has to (Except Oliver, he doesn’t have school). Bubbles has her own petty excuses (like not having her uniform), but Matilda was happy to provide one with the sole purpose to annoy the redhead. Obviously, you let the gang know about your plans of going to the cemetery with Amelia, and arranged things with the little bear demon to meet here before leaving. You hear no complaints from anyone, but a request from your dojo master.

“Can I get a moment of your time, Johnny? Just the two of us.” Matilda is being very serious about this.

“Well, school starts in a while, so you can talk if you want…” Scarlet isn’t worried about going to school, almost like she wants to miss it! Miss it to help you out with your plans!

“Sure, Mat. As long as I don’t make you late, we can be a loan.” You make a shitty pun about money! Matilda loves money, and you love puns! Your newfound knowledge is being put to good use! And yeah, Matilda can’t be late! You, on the other hand, with the level of smarts you have, can take it easy with classes, but Matilda? Matilda is... smart too... But if Mat doesn’t go, Scarlet will worm her way into staying! Guess you’re more worried about the redhead not having any excuses to skip today than the fit girl’s grades.

“Heh, I get it.” Oliver finds you funny. That’s not a great sign. Scarlet didn’t seem to get it tho.

“Please, come this way...” Matilda leaves the room first, ignoring your genius pun, leaving the door open. You trail behind.

“Well, Bubbles, it’s just the two of us now!” Oliver cheerfully states as you hear them across the hallway.

“You don’t have to call me Bubbles.” Scarlet pouts again. You can feel it. She’ll never live that down. Never.

“I… actually forgot your name.” Oliver comes clean. To be fair, he barely knows her.

“Hmph! It’s Scarlet! If you forget it again, I’ll get really angry, and you won’t like it!” Scarlet rolls her eyes. “Let’s watch TV and forget about this!” That’s the positivity back!

“Yeah! Put the opera on! Oh dear Barchinni, how I have missed you and your devilish vocal cords!” Oliver is glad to be home where he can watch quality shows and not Mr. Excitement.

You follow Matilda to the Dojo’s Meeting Room. You know it’s a meeting room because a sign next to the door has the title written in Traditional Prancijanian Lettering. With the amount of Knowledge you have, you can read shitty signs made by old people in an archaic language. Hooray.

“Please, make yourself comfortable.” The fit girl starts rummaging through her closet. “We would’ve done this sooner if I had the materials over there in Xumenlo.”

“Alright!” You sit down on a pillow in front of a table. “I’m ready to lend you an ear!”

“All I need is a smidgen of your blood…” Matilda shows you an antique box with some kind of needle in the middle.

Of my what now?” You’re thunderstruck.

“Johnny Ando, after the many trials and tribulations we’ve endured together, it has become more than apparent that you deeply care for my well-being. As a signal that I reciprocate those intense feelings, and that our bond has reached a status of the utmost loyalty, I’m formally proposing a blood oath between us. The ultimate sign of camaraderie. Just like my grandfather did with his own close confidants.” Matilda explains. “Now, please lend me your thumb for a moment…”

Matilda is not playing around…

“Incredible, partner! She’s as legitimate as an ally can get!” Philonune loves every moment of this!

“Mat, I don’t mind doing this with you, but first…” You put the pointy needle inside the box to grab Matilda’s hands. “Is there a reason why you insist on using your Grandfather’s gestures to express yourself rather than your own? First, the handshake instead of the hug, now this. I understand your respect for him, and I know you’re sincere in doing these things… Still I can’t help but feel that using these traditions is a sort of block that keeps you from expressing your feelings in your own way. You smile as the cherry on top! Y-You’re ready for the Blood Oath!

Matilda remains stoic, hand holding not mattering to her in the slightest. She stares at you in an odd way, like an animal confused by technology or something.

“I remember from a young age being told that putting your neck on the line to protect an ally is the greatest display of trust one human being can show to another. Willing to forsake your life, to bite the bullet, for the well-being of a confidant illustrates a bond between two people that cannot be matched. Essentially, you become family in every way but blood.” Matilda moves her hands away from yours. “Many of those who relayed this knowledge to me went through this oath with my grandfather, and swore loyalty to one another. The same people who ultimately betrayed my grandfather when he needed them the most. Yet, you — without this oath— did what they could not do for him, for me.”

“Johnny Ando, before our trip to Xumenlo, I thought of you as nothing but a close acquaintance. A foolish man who almost lost his life for people who didn’t hesitate to stab you in the back. But now, I see you in another light. You’re still much of a fool for risking your life for people like them. Like me. But now I find value in that naivety.” Matilda is speaking from the heart. “I’m not the kind of person who goes through empty gestures for the sake of appearances. I let my actions speak. You may think I’m honoring these traditions as a way to mask my true feelings, but I disagree. There is no better way for me to show you that, no matter what, I will have your back like you had mine. I expect nothing different from you with this oath, but I want to reassure you that I’m your ally… that I won’t abandon you...

“Mat…” Blood Oaths are serious businesses. What did you expect?

“Please, show me your hand…” Matilda asks one more time to make it official.

“Here you go…” You do as you’re told. Matilda puts the box directly under your hand, and gently nips your thumb, then hers! Since this is a serious situation, you don’t even flinch thanks to your level of Courage. “Now we press our thumbs against each other.”

“Right.” You continue following orders. It’s not a hard press.

“We have to wait until a drop of blood drops into the empty cup of wine inside the box…” Matilda lets you know. You wonder who made this stupid ritual. The drop falls not even a second later. “Together, we will ride the tides of destiny until our very end...” Your blood sister recites from memory. “It’s official.”

“Cool.” You’re not good at this serious stuff…

“Indeed.” Matilda doesn’t care about a smidgen of goofiness.

“...Do you have a band-aid?” You don’t want to get any diseases.

“It’s right in the box.” Matilda takes a couple out. There’s something odd about the way she’s doing this, it’s almost like she has done it before. She puts it on your finger, then kisses it! “...For a speedy recovery.

Aw, that’s cute.” You smile.

“Cute? It’s utterly necessary for the healing process.” Matilda is legit confused. Ame and your Mom would agree, but...

“I-Is it?” You know it’s not scientifically proven!

Absolutely. My grandfather assured me it heals the wounded soul.” Matilda is too confident about this. You don’t want to imagine Jun Spice kissing thumbs… And you did. Fuck.

“He’s right, partner! I’m not bleeding anymore!” Philonune shows you his adorable thumb hand. Wait, he was bleeding?!

“Do I have to kiss yours?” You ask.

“No.” That’s a fast response from the stoic girl.

“W-Why not?” But it makes sense if you do!

“I already did it.” Matilda shrugs. She didn’t think you’d be interested in that.

“And that works?” Isn’t that some kind of cheat?

“I’d say my spirits feel rejuvenated.” Matilda starts stretching.

“Hmm, I’ll keep this in mind…” You know this tip is so stupid it’ll become useful.

And that’s how your first Blood Oath went. Hooray! You have created a bond with Matilda that will never be broken! W-Why are you making this sound like a threat...? Anyway, both of you have stuff to do and it’s getting late. You, Matilda, and Scarlet leave the dojo...

You reunite with your sister on your way to the subway and split ways with your irreplaceable allies at the station. The two duos go in different directions. You ride the train to the Southern District with your goofy little sister… She disguised herself in a try-hard hoodie with a bear paw symbol and is trying too hard to be discreet; so hard that she doesn’t want to idle chat until you get there. Where did she learn these stealth tactics from? Nina? After learning from the best, this feels embarrassing!

...The coast is clear. No enemies in sight. We can talk here.” Tactical Ame informs you as you leave the station. In an odd way, you’re happy your sister is being a little goofy like before she got all depressed. “It’s been some time, brother.”

“What’s gotten into you?” You raise an eyebrow. Amelia was jumping from electric pole to the next during the walk from the Dojo to the station. It was awkward!

“We’re on a mission, dummy! We must keep a low profile.” Your sister was replaced by her stupid SoL card. “In fact, it’s better if we keep our briefings short, and only do them if they’re necessary! OK?”

What do you do?

“Anything important happen while I was away?” You have to go through some briefing

“Lots, dear brother. Yet, not much.” Amelia tries to be vague. “The battlefield has shifted in unexpected ways…”

“How exactly?” You feel like she doesn’t want to talk about this.

“It’s a long tale of twists and turns, Johnny. It’ll take us all morning to understand the severity of the repercussions.” Tactical Ame looks around for possible threats.

“Well, keep it short.” You raise an eyebrow. She’s the one who wanted to rush things.

“OK…” Amelia clears her throat. “The ‘No Flame Possession Clause’ has caused a lot of unexpected headaches.”

“Yeah, I know, there was a big battle to stop the Behemoth, right? Richard and B-WORM went there, right?” You remember Xavi telling you.

“Y-You already know?” Tactical Ame loses half her ammunition.

“Not how it went.” You shake your head.

“There were big repercussions! Big!” Amelia tries to sell this as a bigger deal than it is. “A crystal piece exchanged hands!” Okay, maybe it is a big deal… “Nina's former-friend stole it from the Behemoth! All the flame users there went after her, but she escaped in one big whoosh!”

“C-Carmella?” You ask. That’s the drunk girl you saw piss her pants… ew.

“Yes, that very rude lady! The cats are looking for her, so it’s just a matter of time before we find out where she’s hiding.” Amelia avoids directly talking about Susie.

“And? What happened to the Behemoth?” You want more details.

“The flame users left —that didn’t chase after Carmella— stopped the Serial Killer; when the Zeppelin Referees were about to take his flame away, the big meanie let the host back in control, and they didn’t go through with it!” Amelia is pissed. “It was chaos! The Judges held a meeting to know why the punishments weren’t carried. It was like a big court trial! The Evil Fossil Judge explained that the man behind the mask was part of his defensive protocol personnel, and that prohibits the other Judges from taking his flame. He’s still around, Johnny! Richard was beside himself, he believes he would’ve won the case if he attended.”

“That ain’t good.” You say… “Does that mean he was working under Gordon Sr.’s orders from the very beginning?”

“We don’t know.” Amelia shakes her head. “But that’s not everything! That dummy Henry and his friend got into trouble. They had their own confrontation with a guy named ‘Joe’. If it wasn’t for Billy, things would’ve gone horribly.”

“Joe? The Assembly guy?” You recall that unforgettable name…

“Yes! That one!” Amelia is surprised you remember. You wonder why. “Billy only focused on retreating, and that’s what he did. Now the problem is...”

“Problem is?” You raise an eyebrow.

Carmella stole Billy away.” Amelia makes this shocking reveal.

Why?” You’re confused. You must help Billy, baby!

“I don’t know…” Amelia is as confused as everyone else. “But don’t worry! Like I said, the cats are on the case!”

“Let me know if you need any help…” You’ll offer assistance. Amelia nods rapidly.

“Another biggie! The biggest nastiest criminal in the history of Prancijan escaped jail!” Amelia starts looking sideways, all shifty. Is that why she’s worried? “The cats learned that ‘The Markgician’ was the mastermind behind this move!”

“What? That kid?” You’re deeply confused. The goofy cult guy who steals underwear?!

“Yes! Becoming a wanted criminal was all part of his plan to get access to the super prison!” Amelia can’t believe the GENIUS of the Markgician.

“I hardly doubt it. Who’s this super-criminal?” You wanna know more.

“No clue. All records of his existence were wiped…” Amelia gets worried. Who could possibly be that bad that you have to do that? You could guess, but what’s the point? “But the truly spooky bit is that… the Markgician has a flame now!”

“How’s that spooky or possible?” You don’t get it.

“We don’t know… Only Judges can hand over flames, but they all denied having a hand in it!” Amelia recounts Constance’s experience.

“I mean, one of those Judges is a known liar AND an idiot.” You point out that Gerard is a judge.

“Hmmm, I don’t know, it happened during the defense protocol, so they were all with each other in the Distant Frontier, all have solid alibis.” Amelia reveals that it isn’t that simple.

“Huh, that’s odd.” You’re starting to get it. “Anything else?”

“Yeah, here’s the biggest one…” Amelia looks like a sad cub. “The White Flames captured Flint Masterson and Brahma… They telepathically told us what happened as a last-ditch effort, and asked us not to get involved. Lloydington himself did it, and revealed to us the nature of his power, so one day we can stop him. And they weren’t the only ones captured.”

“I’m sorry to hear that…” You have mixed feelings about this. You helped Flint once, so it’s not like you hate him or anything.

“That big bonehead Flint probably deserves it, but Saraswati has been all depressed for her husband. I’ve been doing my best to be cheerful for her!” Amelia smiles!

“Shouldn’t we help them?” You gingerly wonder.

“Didn’t you hear? We can’t get involved!” Amelia feels like you didn’t listen to her story! “We are not going to waste our time discussing this. We’re on a stealth mission…

“Oh, you don’t wanna know what I did, then?” You raise an eyebrow.

“……...I do.” Amelia wants to hear it. “P-Please tell me!”

“Alright, I’ll be brief…”

You weren’t brief, but you gave a snippet of everything that transpired inside the bubble to Amelia! Well, not everything, you don’t want her to know you had sex… she’ll be all weird about it.

“Mom… and a Judge… were friends?” Amelia is flabbergasted.

“And the lady we’re meeting with will probably clarify some things for us.” You conclude.

“Woah…” This is too much to take for your sister’s little brain. “Then what are we waiting for?!” Amelia wants to know more! She goes ahead to the cemetery…

Regardless of if it says so or not, everyone in this field believed in the peace of Prancijan. A rusty sign reads at the entrance. It’s been quite some time since you were here. Amelia is the one leading the charge…

“Jo-Johnny, look...” Amelia points forwards.

A stylish looking Goth lady puts down flowers on your mother’s grave. Is that little Fiora…? She’s not little at all anymore!

T-That’s the creepy lady from Mom’s funeral…!” Amelia gets spooked. She’s hiding behind you now!

Fiora (?) turns her head, then smiles and waves at you two. The lady in black walks over. You don’t feel threatened…

What do you do?

You silently ask for a moment to Fiora, walk over to your mother’s grave, and pay your respects. Fiora smiled in response, and watched over you. Since your little sister was attached to your back, she joins in the rites.

You tell your mother that you will continue doing your best no matter what.

With a warm feeling inside, you two walk back up to Fiora.

“You’re a lot taller now and more composed.” You break the ice by pointing out the slender lady’s transformation. She’s only an inch taller than you because of those stilts… You bet if she didn’t wear them, you’d be the tallest person around!

“It’s appropriate for the place.” Fiora is being stoic for good reason.

“Being taller?” Your scared dummy sister is confused.

Fiora smiles without saying a word. “Thank you two for coming, Johnny and Amelia. It’s a pleasure to meet you two again. Shall we take our discussion some other place?”

That’s odd. You don’t remember telling her your names. But if she knew your mother, her odds of knowing them are pretty high.

“H-Here is fine for now.” Tactical Amelia doesn’t want to go to crime scene number 2…

“Has your brother brought you up to date with what we’ve discussed?” Fiora wants to make sure Amelia isn’t lost. And more importantly, make your sister lower her guard a bit.

“Mhm…” Amelia machine gun nods.

“How wonderful.” Fiora is glad you two trust each other. “Would you rather hear it from me in more detail just to be sure?”

“OK.” Amelia continues, her head wobbling.

“I am Fiora Kobashi. I’m a private investigator and a Spiritualist. I’m currently working in a special case for the N.U. here in Pokyo Lokyo. The first paranormal case in my career that has any validity. I’m here to prevent a disaster from happening.” Fiora doesn’t reveal any new facts, except for one…

What do you do?

“What’s this disaster you talk about?” You want to dig into the main topic.

The Consequences of Ohrmazd’s Great Revival. A dangerous group of individuals is planning to open a gate to the heavens, and through it, feed the unhinged lord to recover all of its original strength.” Fiora succinctly explains. “I’m afraid the process will only lead to an enormous part of the city being wiped out from the face of the earth. Allow me to explain, the demons you know as ‘Judges’ can open gates between both worlds, but the restrictions they put on — like size and power, and the only spiritual energy can traverse — are there as safety measures. An unstable gate will cause a massive explosion of said power. With that being said, do not fret, there’s still plenty of time to investigate. The necessary requirements cannot be met in this city yet. For starters, there’s no building tall enough to even attempt a connection to another dimension.”

“Johnny, Saraswati confirms what the lady is saying about how the gates work.” Amelia looks shiftily around.

“You’re talking to the Goddess of Knowledge, Amelia? Send her my regards.” Fiora smiles tenderly.

Grrr…” Amelia is on the fence again! “Where do you know her from…?”

“She’s one of the most important deities in our culture...” Fiora doesn’t know how to respond without sounding condescending. “As I was saying, there’s one construction in the works that will eventually meet the requirements, and I have gone through my due diligence to know who is behind it.”

“Lloydington, isn’t it?” Amelia tries to beat Fiora to the punch. The tall lady nods, all content. “Knew it! After Richard changed sides, he and Carmella are the only White Flames left.”

“Whose side are you on, Fiora?” You want to know if she’s an enemy or a foe. Wait, that’s the same thing.

“I said it once, and I will say it again. I’m an ally to everyone who is trying to keep our world safe.” Fiora speaks from the heart.

“Hmph, she talks like one of those White Honey Badgers…” Amelia says something that doesn’t land with you.

“I want to know why you know our mom. And why you were upset that Esperanza didn’t know her.” It’s time to know the one thing that bothered you the most since your first interaction at the invitational.

“Because we were friends. Quite good ones, in fact, I carried you both when you were adorable little babies.” Fiora’s smile is full of affection.

“W-We were never adorable!” You refuse to believe it!

“Y-Yeah, we’re too cool for that! The coolest babies!” Amelia sounds like a dork! But you’ll back her up on this occasion.

“Aw, you two cinnamon rolls are as charming as ever.” Fiora giggles. Hopefully, Nina didn’t hear that, or she’ll eat you again. She loves her cinnamon rolls. Or were they swiss rolls?

“Anyway! Mom didn’t have any friends! None!” Amelia doesn’t believe it.

“I can assure you that isn’t true in the slightest.” Fiora shakes her head. “Have you ever wondered why you carry the name you do, Johnny?”

“No. Have you?” You raise an eyebrow. Does anyone?

“...I’m trying to get somewhere.” Fiora was asking a rhetorical question. “I’ve never confirmed it, but I’m sure you’re named after my father.”

“Who? Sieb?” Oh god, what kind of fucked up connection do your mom and Sieb have?!

“...No, the one whose name I will carry for the rest of time: Jonathan Kobashi.” Fiora feels nostalgic. You’re happy that you have nothing to do with that freak Sieb. “Our parents were great friends.”

“But his name is, ew, Jonathan…” You sound disgusted. “Nothing to do with Johnny. In fact, he had great disdain for my amazing name.”

“Ema noticed the same, and to mess up with him, he called you as such. You know her sense of humor.” Fiora didn’t want to say anything about your mom’s tombstone, but she’s implying something and you don’t like it! No sir!

“Sounds incredibly far-fetched if you ask me.” You refuse to acknowledge a connection that isn’t simply there. What a delusional lady.

“No. It isn’t. Don’t be hardheaded.” Fiora refuses to let you be an idiot.

“O-Okay…” You’re not going to follow her logic.

“Well, after the tale I have ready for you, it’ll all make sense… It’s all intrinsically tied with my reaction towards Esperanza.” Fiora is ready for a massive plot dump.

“Excuse me! Before you start!” Amelia raises her hand like you were in class.

“Yes...?” Fiora doesn’t mind the interruption.

“Which great friend of my mom I am named after?” Amelia is excited to know.

“I don’t recall anyone with your name, dear. As I was saying—” Fiora wants to go ahead with her tale.

“Where did mine come from then?” Amelia interrupts the goth lady.

……...I don’t know.” Fiora is obviously lying. She can’t even look at Ame!

“I knew it! You’re hiding something! Grrr...” Amelia wants answers.

“It’ll all make sense later…” Fiora wants to get on with her story.

“Let it go, Ame. Nobody cares.” You shrug.

“B-But…!” Ame cares!

“No buts, we’re in a graveyard.” You want your sister to be respectful.

Awie…” Amelia kicks the ground.

“Before we begin, it’s a long tale, does anyone have to go to the bathroom?” Fiora doesn’t want to be interrupted again.

Amelia sheepishly raises her hand…

“The bathrooms are over there…” Fiora points at them. “I’ll take the opportunity to visit a close friend’s grave.” Like a magic trick, Fiora pulls out another bouquet of flowers.

“OK! But I-I’m going super fast…!” Amelia starts running!

You’re not really in the mood of waiting outside a bathroom, so you’ll follow Fiora, with her permission of course.

“Can I go with you?” You ask.

“Of course.” Fiora is a very nice lady. She starts walking away, expecting you to follow her steps.

“So, where did Amelia's name come from? I’ll know if you’re lying.” You’ll continue the previous topic.

“My father always said the best way to keep a secret is to keep your mouth shut.” Fiora recalls Kobashi’s words! But he wasn’t the best at keeping secrets, right? “And rather, it’s all speculation on my part.”

“Sounds like it’s based on hard evidence though.” You raise an eyebrow.

“Ah, you’re quite observant, aren’t you?” Fiora is trying to avoid the topic.

“Flattery isn’t going to let you get off scot-free.” You frown.

...And persistent.” Fiora doesn’t know what to make of it.

“You don’t have to tell me now.” But you’ll ask later. This tall lady is lucky you’re at a graveyard. “Who are we visiting?”

“An old mentor of mine.” Fiora halts all of the sudden upon laying her eyes on her destination.

“Something wrong?” You look ahead. There’s someone squatting in front of — what you assume — is the grave of Fiora’s mentor. Because, otherwise, this doesn’t make sense. You have passed by some people, and Kobashi’s daughter didn’t act up until now.

Anyway, it’s a slim girl, almost to the bone. She’s wearing a big sweater that doesn’t fit her (just like your hoodie!), and her hair is all messy (just like yours!). She’s cleaning up the tombstone with one hand — then looks disgusted at it due to the amount of dust there was. She claps to clean them up and shakes her head all disappointed. From the corner of her eye, she becomes aware of Fiora’s presence.

“Long time no see.” The boney girl smirks.

“You look unwell.” Fiora steps closer, all concerned.

“New diet. It’s a family trend to look all boney lately.” The girl stands up. “Sooo… You’re paying a visit to aunt May?”

“That is my intention, yes.” Fiora grabs the bouquet more tightly.

“Who’s the big guy? You look the part, Fio, but don’t tell me you go on dates at the graveyard…” The boney girl sneers.

“He’s an important acquaintance.” Fiora ignores all the sarcastic remarks.

“Work stuff. Got it, got it, got it.” The boney girl seems disappointed. She wanted Fiora to be weird.

This is it, the moment you’ve been waiting for so long, it’s all or nothing, everything you have worked for has led to this! This requires you to use all of the stats you have harvested your entire life. At last, you’re going to say your world-renown catchphrase out loud! Some beasts howl, but you ask about vibes. Good vibes. The best vibes. But not anyone can ask about vibes without sounding phony. You need to be casual, but sharp. Loose, but confident. Aloof, but determined. Paradoxically, it really requires a lot of effort and energy to look like you’re doing things effortlessly! This is *the moment*.

“I’m here with you, partner.” Philonune KNOWS how important this is.

You have go back a little, to see how this interaction has led to this moment! You channel all your strength to remember what was said 5 seconds ago.

“Who’s the big guy? You look the part, Fio, but don’t tell me you on dates at the graveyard…” Yes! The skinny girl is one sarcastic bonehead!

“He’s an important acquaintance.” Fiora skillfully moves past the messy girl’s jokes. Is this the time to talk? No! This isn’t the moment.

“Work stuff. Got it, got it, got it.” The boney girl’s disappointment is palpable. She wanted nothing more in this world than for her dear Fio to be an oddball!

Eureka! You’ve found it! This is it! THIS IS THE *MOMENT*!

—GIVE IT ALL YOU GOT!—

“What’s good?™” Your shiny smirk dominates your face, as your brows dance majestically!

W-W-What’s going on?! W-Why?! Why is he shining?!” The boney girl is dazzled by the greatness of your catchphrase. The radiant energy is too much for everyone to take!

Look closely at the tenderness of his smile! His light isn’t blinding, it’s welcoming! He has ascended to a superior form!” Fiora realizes there’s more than what meets the eyes.

Ascended to what?! A lamp post?! Make him stop!” Messy hair can’t handle it.

It only stops being suffocating once you accept his gift… It’s so warm and beautiful...” Fiora is in tears. “You only have to look at him, and you’ll understand.

Y-You’re out of your goddamn mind…!” The ghostly girl refuses to go along.

But the Boney girl’s curiosity got the best of her, and she took a good look at you. Then she understood everything... even though, if she actually read this narration, she’d disagree.

“Nothing much, things are chill.” The boney girl is back to reality, she’s a little embarrassed, and can’t take her eyes off you for some reason. Fiora can’t either… You know what wouldn’t have stopped them staring at you? If you went for the musical number you were planning! Too bad you’re at a graveyard and you don’t want to dance over anyone’s tomb...

“Cool.” You answer. There’s something that is bothering you… “I’m Johnny, by the way, nice to meet you. What’s your name?”

“I’m Odetta.” The boney girl reveals her name.

“I’m Fiora.” Fiora responds too. You… already know that.

Why are these two staring at you like that…? This isn’t like the Tomatoes! This is creepy!

What do you do?

>“Uhm, so who is Aunt May?” You want to honor this person.

His hair was much shorter earlier in the quest, and Johnny never did get a haircut out of 146 threads. I'm glad the QM is keeping that in mind, and has been for the past 5 years

“So, who is Aunt May?” You break the ice! It’s getting really uncomfortable! They’re not reacting. “Hey. I asked who Aunt May is.” Or was?

“...Don’t ever do that again, big boy.” The frail girl named Odetta snaps out of it first.

“S-Sorry?” You don’t want to cause trouble at a cemetery of all places. “I didn’t mean to pry.”

“The *other* thing you did, lamp post.” Odetta grinds her teeth. “And as far as Aunt May goes, all you need to know is that the world is worse without her, right, Fio?”

“Y-Yes, absolutely.” Fiora snaps out of her trance too. “She was a heavy loss to everyone who knew her.”

“See? I’m not a liar!” The frail girl sneers then turns to the sleuth. “My aunt was one of the prettiest flowers in the garden. The best of the best. A light in the darkness, and whatnot. That’s why this is your first visit in... how long was it, Fio?”

Fiora smiles without saying a word.

“...I’ll leave you two be.” Odetta wants to take a hike. “Anyway, I have my own business to attend to.”

“If you’re concerned about businesses, I’d like to hire your services.” Fiora wants this girl on board!

“...No, woman, I have people to visit *here*.” Odetta didn’t expect an unwanted job offer at the cemetery.

“Very well then, I’d like to accompany you to pay my respects to your sister as well.” Fiora makes another bouquet of flowers appear from under her sleeve.

“Eugh, not her… And don’t call her my sister. She’s my cousin.” Odetta acts with absolute disdain. You hope no one reacts like that when visiting your future grave.

“Oh yes, you meant Percy. I’m interested in paying him a visit as well.” Fiora puts the bouquet on top of the other over her arm and takes ANOTHER bouquet of flowers below her hat. “My deep condolences.”

“For fuck’s sake, you know what happened too?” Odetta is a little annoyed.

“As a matter of fact, I discovered who was responsible.” Fiora didn’t want to play that card. Her arms are too occupied by the many flowers she’s holding!

The girl smirks from ear to ear. “...You’re boring your date by being all enigmatic, Fio. He looks all clueless. Aren’t you bored, big boy?”

Feels like Odetta is trying to use you to avoid the topic… And it seems important to Fiora to keep this girl around. So maybe you need to help?
>>

How do you respond?

>Shrug. Agree with Odetta. You have no clue about what’s going on. Well, you do. But you'd rather not involve this stranger yet.
>“That’s where you’re wrong, kiddo. I’m more interested in what’s happening than ever.” Back up Fiora, but don’t involve yourself too much in the conversation. You don’t want to interrupt.
>“Just tell me more about your lovely aunt.” You weren’t satisfied with the previous answer.
>“I know way more than you think but not as much as you hope, Little O.” Of course! Aunt May, Percy, and Odetta! All of those names are from Oliver’s backstory! She’s Jaylene’s sister! Try to be terribly on the nose to catch her attention.

You’ve noticed all the important, minuscule hints thrown at your face, if you had any doubts before, they’re all gone by now. This Odetta is the same one in Oliver’s backstory. She’s Jaylene’s sister. The prankster: Little O. You thought she was dead, but she’s right here, and the confirmation is Aunt May’s tombstone, and it reads…

Marcela Larsen.

“I know way more than you think but not as much as you hope, Little O.” You smirk.

“Little O?” Fiora doesn’t seem to follow. “You already know her?”

What did you call me...?” Odetta mutters under her breath.

“Little O.” You repeat.

Ah…” Odetta tilts her head backwards, mouth half opened. Now a fabulous grin appears on her face. “Hey, I think we started on the wrong foot, pal. I’m truly sorry if I was rude to you. I’ve been stressed lately, and graveyards aren’t exactly my favorite comfort place…” She starts coughing.

“No, I understand. You weren’t that mean anyway.” You check on her. Hey, that worked! Odetta is friendlier now!

“Sheesh, you’re really a cool guy, huh? Like a really cool chill guy. I think we can be good friends. Great pals even.” Odetta’s dastardly smile doesn’t spell friendship… but great friendship!

“What’s gotten into you, Odetta?” Fiora harshly interrupts.

“Hey, Fio, mind the tone! You’re the one talkin’ to me, not the other way around!” In Odetta’s honest opinion, she has her hands clean. “Our big boy is doing his goddamn best to be all friendly with me, and you’re squandering it. We’ll talk about your proposition later. But first, I need to catch up with an old pal of mine...” Odetta puts her hand over your shoulder. “Tell me, big man, how’s Big O doing?”

How do you respond?

>“You mean Oliver? He’s doing great!” You need to be friendly back.
>“I don’t know who Big O is.” You assume it’s Oliver. But his backstory was so far back you won’t risk getting it wrong.
>“What are you scheming, young lady?” You have been around enough suspicious people to know there’s something off about this.
>“Girl, I know the whole story, I know you probably hate his guts. I’m not telling you.” What? Does this chick think you’re stupid? Nuh-uh, Smart Ando arc has begun!

“What are you scheming, young lady?” You’ve been around enough (van) suspicious people to know there’s something off about this!

“Simmer down, buster! What’s up with these wild accusations?” Odetta got some of the information she wanted from your reaction. “I wanted to know about the old dog, that’s all.”

“That’s all?” You squint your eyes.

“Yeah, I don’t come up with schemes on the fly. What do you take me for? A troublemaker?” That’s a lie. This Little O is a big liar! It’s not like she’s trying to hide it!

“I don’t know, you’re acting a little suspicious.” You aren’t stupid! At least, no more!

“Me? Suspicious? You two are the ones trying to bait me into a conversation...” Odetta seems annoyed.

“...We didn’t intend to upset you, less in a place like this.” Fiora leaves one bouquet on Marcela Larsen’s tombstone. “I know it may seem hard to believe, but our meeting today is a twist of fate. Even if it was tacky, I couldn’t waste the opportunity to catch up.”

“You’re right, it IS hard to believe.” Odetta crosses her arms. “But you don’t lie about small things like that, so I’ll let it slide… this time.”

“I wholeheartedly appreciate it.” Fiora smiles. “I’ll leave pretenses aside and ask directly: would you care to join us? It involves you directly and the job I mentioned.”

“As I said, I have more graves to visit...” Odetta looks away.

“Please, Odetta, you don’t need to lie. Your uncle’s grave is on the way here and has fresh flowers. Your last bouquet is on Marcela’s tombstone too.” Fiora points out.

“Your deduction skills need work, sleuth; what makes you think I came here carrying flowers?” Odetta scoffs. She’s broke!

“And where do all of them come from?” Fiora wants a good explanation.

“Don’t know about Uncle Percy’s. But I took these from that one...” Odetta points at another grave… This psycho stole them from someone else’s grave! Poor Mickey Wright... W-Wait, isn’t that…?

Before things could get even more awkward, you get a phone call. It’s your sister! Is she calling you from the toilet? Why? You hang up. Immediately after, she sends a bunch of texts, she said she pretended to go to the bathroom to ask the Motley Crew for info on Fiora and Odetta. Yes, she mentioned Odetta too! Was she listening to you? Anyway, while all this texting is going on, Fiora takes another bouquet of flowers out of nowhere and forces the Unhinged girl to replace the ones she stole…

What do you do?

>Call Amelia. Get the information directly.
>Ask Amelia to look around and find out who put flowers on Percy Larsen’s grave, if she can, obviously.

You text Amelia to bring her ass over here instead of doing things nobody asked for yet. It’s more important to hear what Fiora has to say than to get the upper hand when there’s no perceivable danger.

“You should’ve told me you were being facetious, Odetta. You could’ve saved us a lot of trouble.” Fiora feels guilty about what just happened.

“W-Who cares? Everyone got extra flowers…” Odetta seems somewhat content that the lady in black hasn’t changed that much from what she remembers.

“I’m back!” Amelia shows up from a bush! That wasn’t subtle at all, but with how quirky she is, you think she’s not going to raise any eyebrows. “I couldn’t find you!”

“Apologies, I thought my visit to this grave would be brief, but I found an old mentoree of mine. Allow me to properly introduce her to you two, her name is Odetta Larsen.” Fiora wholeheartedly feels sorry for this.

“Hey there...” Amelia doesn’t trust the grinning girl as she hides behind you.

Odetta is taken by surprise by Amelia’s presence. Well, not exactly, something about your sister seems to bug the boney girl.

“You have realized it, haven’t you? She’s spitting image of the lady from *that* picture with Marcela. They’re her children.” The goth lady nods at the not-as-goth girl.

“And with that, three strikes...” Odetta put her hands behind her head. Curiosity has gotten the best of her. “I’ll listen to what you have to say, but the moment I’m bored, I’m leaving.”

Fiora is glad to hear that.

Psst… Johnny.” Amelia starts whispering. “The lab confirmed everything the tall lady has said to us. She has been telling the truth as far as we know… She seems trustworthy.” Your derpy sister looks both ways before continuing. “But that other girl… she’s a ghost! There’s no information about her anywhere!”

“Who the fuck are you calling a ghost?!” Odetta gets really pissed off. For the first time, you feel like you saw a genuine reaction from her. She starts coughing shortly after.

Ah?!” Amelia didn’t expect to be heard!

“...Join me on a walk, everyone.” Fiora diffuses the situation by moving on without acknowledging it. She still has the two bouquets to get rid of… “This long remarkable tale is about how the end of the world was prevented by people who were once close to us…”

You soon will enter a flashback…

Let's see
>Genesis
After this tale, the Motley Crew can just look up who Ihor's surviving relatives are, and find her that way
>Cal
On record as Percy Larsen's lawyer, findable that way
>Valdemar
Johnny knows he's connected to Ophelia, probably her son, so that's easy(?) to trace
>Mark
I dunno how anybody is going to figure this out outside of actually looking at prison/system records
>Gerard
Kobashi mentions him in that thread a few times, so I figure Fiora will too. Then its easy enough to find him because he's a Judge
>Qiao Ning relatives
Known, can be found
>Percy Larsen's killer (Strawberry)
Would be the odd one out that would be interesting to have here, but then Odetta will try to kill her for being in the exact same place where she killed him AND being Percy's killer. She'll be around regardless given she's a surviving flame user, assuming she didn't die offscreen like that would ever happen

My vote is

24 years ago, in the small mountain village of ‘Gyerhae’, within the ‘Temple of Courage’, a Powerful Spirit remained sealed in the form of a Green Ignis Fatuus for over 200 years — guarded by the many priestesses that worked inside this monastery. One day, a mysterious criminal let it escape its prison to freely roam the world.

After weeks of work with no results, the fairly new leadership under ‘Qiao Ning’ decided to seek outside help to find the Spirit by hiring as many competent private investigators as they could find, among them, Jonathan Kobashi and Ihor Testudinata, the only two skilled enough to realize the roaming spirit was set free in Pokyo Lokyo. Impressed by their efforts, one of the monastery’s own decided to help them: Marcela Larsen, later picking the former cop to ally herself with.

At the same time, your mom used to be your run-of-the-mill office lady, but due to chance, she began working under Professor Bombastus’ tutelage on a project to find a new energy source using spirits, as she was the only person who could see them without the need of any type of device. Together, they captured the Green Ignis Fatuus for their research about Spiritual Energy. But it wasn’t the first Ignis Fatuus they found…

Nobody knows how the fraudster demon of unknown origin who went by Lokie came to this world, but under confusing circumstances, after escaping his imprisonment from Dr. Bombastus’ hands, he possessed your mother’s body and began his devilish plan to open a portal to the demon world. After stealing Ema’s comatose dearest friend Esperanza from the Grand Hospital, he made his way to the Summit of the Monastery of Courage...

It came into the hands of a ragtag group of individuals to stop Lokie from opening the gate to the other dimension. Jonathan Kobashi, Marcela Larsen, Vanessa van Zullekom, Ihor Testudinata, Leon the Leon-Tamer and Qiao Ning… failed. The powerful being known as the Anti-Thesis of Life was the first one to cross through the gate, not even Lokie could stop her… Angra Mainyu was about to run rampant onto the world.

But miracles happen! Kobashi entertained the beast for long enough that humanity protectors from the demon’s side of the portal arrived! They threw themselves to stop the heartless monster! And when hope all seemed lost… Ema Oka took control over Lokie, tamed the power of the Green Ignis Fatuus, and used it to close the gate with the help of a cloaked individual…. and by doing that, they ended up severing the head of the greatest evil that ever graced Earth.

M-MY AUNT did WHAT...?!” Odetta is as flabbergasted as the rest of you. “T-This is a bunch of horseshit, you empty coconut head!”

“Y-You’re telling us that OUR mom SAVED the world?!” Amelia is in utter shock. “She was afraid of the mailman! S-She couldn’t have possibly done anything like that!” She was more of a victim, but you stand by your sister’s point! Wait, what does this say about your chances?

“N-No offense, but I can’t picture Vanessa doing anything you said.” Are you the only one who noticed that Vanessa is a super fighting machine…? Heck, ignore that, she was *useful*! Can you imagine?!

“Y-Yeah, t-there’s no way Bashi drop kicked the incarnation of evil in the face from 60 yards in the air! That simply isn’t how physics works!” A random unemployed pirate eating a hotdog doesn’t think the policeman could do something like that.

“It’s all the…” Fiora stops talking midway when she realizes something is off.

You all turn to the uninvited guest. That’s not a pirate! That’s Gerard Luther! One of the Judges...!

“Who’s this clown...?” Odetta is utterly confused about where this guy comes from.

“It’s Gerard Luther, one of the Judges.” You casually explain to the ghostly girl.

“What do you mean by that?” Odetta is genuinely curious. She doesn’t seem to know about the war, but she’s aware of Luther for some reason.

“Me? A mere clown?! That description only fits the tall mademoiselle with the tacky make-up in front of us.” Gerard points at Fiora. Now that is very rude.

“You’re more like a pirate.” You expertly point out.

“Exactly!” Gerard agrees. “H-Hold on a moment, I’m no filthy freebooter! I have class! Refinement! All the oola-la-las, and none of the ta-ta-taahs!” He dances with each syllable.

“...But you’re eating a hot dog.” Amelia points out.

“Yes, the perfect meal that contains all my favorite animals.” Gerard takes the last bite of the hot dog. “What about it?”

You and Amelia share a look. For some reason, you feel like the world is doomed even if you do your best...

“Oh, Mr. Luther, I was not expecting you or your attitude today...” Fiora is annoyed by his presence. “What brings you here?”

“You’re asking the wrong questions, madam. You should be wondering why shouldn’t I be here?” Gerard smirks like he has everything figured out.

“Any answer will do as long as you explain yourself.” Fiora tenderly smiles.

“...I got nothing.” Gerard dryly replies. There’s a moment of silence “...But surprises!” He added that to his answer due to the reception he got. Still, nobody’s reaction changes. “In due time, it’ll all make sense. Please, go on, I must take a quick visit to the restroom… Don’t leave! I’ll be back! I swear!” Gerard leaves with both hands on his stomach… You guess his favorite animals don’t like him back.

What was that?” Amelia feels uncomfortable.

“Let’s make the most out of this while he’s gone.” You propose to everyone. They nod back in agreement. “Fiora, why are you telling us all of this?”

“You should know better than anyone, you heard it from the man himself: Lokie has somehow returned.” Fiora reminds you of Bubble Kobashi’s words… You can’t forget that Esperanza is the demon’s target. “And as the descendants of the people involved in his first demise, I believe we should join forces.”

“You should ask Aunt May’s *actual* daughter. She is over there… six feet under.” Odetta points at the horizon.

“Blood ties are trivial. I know better than anyone, I have none.” Fiora points out that she’s a CotF. “We’re the ones carrying their legacies.”

Mom’s legacy…” Amelia gets some determination from repeating those words.

“But it doesn’t end with Lokie, we’re living in tumultuous times, he’s only one of the many disasters looming in our wake.” Fiora looks up. “Through cooperation, we will triumph over those perils. I have relied on you this tale, not only as a warning of what’s to come, but as a signal of trust. I’m looking for allies.”

“You should’ve started with that.” Odetta feels like she wouldn’t have wasted this much time otherwise. “Hard pass.”

“Odetta, you’re too ill-prepared to make a conscious decision. I won’t let you go until I’m certain you fully understand the situation the world is in.” Fiora won’t take a No for an answer.

“Go ahead. Tell her what you know.” You don’t mind if they take long enough for Gerard to come back.

“I’ll be as brief as possible.” Fiora will take the chance.

“If it’s anything like the last story, I’m gonna wish I had my own hot dog…” Odetta sighs.

Fiora briefly explains the war to Odetta… Man, that was a good and concise explanation… You’ve enough knowledge to add it to your repertoire in case someone else asks! It’s like Matilda’s technique to knock out people but in storytelling form! In effectiveness that is, because if you want to knock out people by talking, you should ask Nina for tips.

“Got it, got it, got it…” Odetta knew about some of those things before. Weird.

“I’m glad you understand.” Fiora can’t stop smiling. It’s getting uncomfortable to see! “Let’s return to our previous topic, shall we?”

“Fiora, I need you to clarify something for me. It’s about Esperanza.” Since you’re touching this subject again, there’s something that has been bugging you. “You were really upset about Esperanza not remembering my mom. Are you even sure she’s the same girl?”

“Absolutely.” Fiora responds without hesitating. “There’s something I omitted about the aftermath of their grandiose tale. Which is… the broken promise.”

Fiora explains that after the inter-dimensional gate that Lokie opened was closed, the Green Ignis Fatuus asked Ema for her aid to seal all the inter-dimensional gaps left open in your world, as to prevent this from happening again. And as a reward, the forces inside the Green Ignis Fatuus promised your mother that she will meet Esperanza again after they heal her. It’d take time. And your mom waited. But the reunion never happened, and never will.

“...I won’t accept that the spirits made a mockery of such a hefty promise by pretending Esperanza’s memories wouldn’t be lost. There’s foul play here, I’m certain.” Fiora looks down. This is the closest you have heard Fiora acting upset.

“C’mon, Fio, you’re better than this. They lied to her. There’s no big conspiracy.” Odetta is very cynical about this.

Grrr...! They tricked my mom! After all these years, those stinky demons lied to my mom about the one thing you shouldn’t lie about!” Amelia seems to agree with the ghost girl.

“Even the weasel agrees.” Odetta shrugs.

“W-Weasel?!” Amelia is offended. She’s a bear! Not a weasel! Wait, she’s neither! She’s your sister!

“Where’s Esperanza?” You continue on the topic.

“In The Comatose Wing inside the Grand Hospital. It’s underground.” Fiora recalls from memory. “Shall we pay her a visit?”

How do you respond?

>Accept. You’re going on a trip!
>After this. You’re not sure if you can trust Odetta just yet.
>Decline. You’ll go by yourself when the time requires it.
>Write In.

Another topic you want to touch?

>Kobashi’s whereabouts.
>Marcela. Tell them about her death from Oliver’s point of view.
>Qiao Ning and everything that happened with Monastery after Angra Mainyu’s attack.
>The Cloaked Figure. Why did she save the world?
>Ask what happened to the other people involved (Ihor, Vanessa, and the Leon Tamer.)
>Force answers out of Gerard! You want to know his deal! He’s the stupidest enigma in this entire thing, and you want him to stop being important!
>Write In.

“Later, after we’re done talking.” You prefer to keep things here. Odetta isn’t trustworthy yet.

“Very well.” Fiora doesn’t object. No one else seems to mind either. Going from a graveyard to a comatose wing isn’t the most uplifting of prospects… “There’s a beautiful garden over there. Let’s move our business to that spot. We shouldn’t be a bother to the ones mourning, and the mourned...” The tall gall commands as she cleans up the hot dog crumbs near the graves.

Originally, Fiora wanted to go on a walk while telling Kobashi’s story, but the tale proved too dense to not stay in one spot. Hell, it was so captivating, you didn’t notice when she got rid of the bouquets! Anyway, she wants to move away from Marcela’s tomb in case that filthy Gerard comes back.

You’re by the central garden inside the cemetery, it’s a large beautiful circular spot full of flowers with sidewalks. There are no tombstones, no graves, or any type of plaque. Except for one right by the entrance that reads ‘Life Continues’. Weird thing to have here, but you’re not going to question it. People create strange things when they’re mourning.

“Hmm, Ms. Fiora. I have a question.” Amelia is slowly warming up to the goth lady.

“What is it, my dear?” Fiora continues having her inviting aura. Despite her appearance…

“What happened to everyone else involved in the battle against Lokie? I mean the people that didn’t have superpowers, like Mr. Ihor or the Lion guy!” Amelia asks.

“I don’t think we should talk about the Lion guy.” Odetta has a cool head on her shoulders.

“He went on trial again for escaping prison, won the case, and was exonerated from all previous charges. He then married his lawyer and settled down.” Fiora reveals the most surprising thing of the evening. “He ended up with one gorgeous child.”

“Y-You serious?” You have to ask…!

“Yes.” Fiora shows you a lovely family picture. The kid reminds you of the Markgician… Could it be? “The Lion-Tamer always gets his man, and in this case, his woman.” Fiora has a beam of satisfaction. You, Amelia, and Odetta are speechless.

“J-Johnny, that kid, I-I think that’s the supercriminal: Mark the Markgician!” Amelia points out.

“Stop. He’s NOT a supercriminal.” You don’t want to live in a world where this guy is taken seriously.

“I, too, believe in his innocence. He would not hurt a fly.” That’s not what you meant, Fiora is way too nice for her own good.

“Can we PLEASE stop talking about him?” You beg.

“As for Mr. Testudinata, in the following years, he immersed himself in his work. All to secure his family’s future. Bigger and more difficult cases, one after the other. I helped a couple of times, and he tutored me back. Then one day Mr. Testudinata simply disappeared without a trace...” Fiora adjusts her hat. “But what makes it truly perplexing is that he returned, almost three years ago, begging for my father’s help for his ‘final case’. I wanted to contribute, but he declined as the case was deemed too dangerous. He told me that if anything goes awry, I’d be the last hope. Then they were gone and I haven’t seen them since...”

“Maybe they’re over there.” Odetta points back at the visible graveyard portion outside the garden…

“Wah! Y-You’re a monster...!” Amelia is flabbergasted by Odetta’s indifference. The ghost girl finds your sister’s reaction funny.

“Twisted sense of humor aside, I’m certain they’re alive. No simple hunches. But facts.” Fiora doesn’t hesitate. Odetta liked the detective’s straightforwardness.

“Y-You people! How dare you move this meeting to some other place without my consent?!” Gerard Luther is back, and he’s pissed!

“Hey, if you wanna talk so much, why don’t you tell us what your deal is, huh?” You’re way too annoyed at him.

“W-What do you mean by that?” Gerard is taken aback by your question.

“What’s your problem, Patches! That simple!” Odetta wants to make fun of the Judge.

“W-W-What a quaint nickname you’ve come up with! From what kind of children’s book did you steal it?” Gerard is really offended by this.

“Your autobiography.” Odetta didn’t put any effort into her response. She was too underwhelmed by Patches’ own retort.

“Witty, aren’t you?” Gerard pouts. He can’t believe her genius...

“Just tell us!” Amelia has enough and roars! “Why have you been a huge jerk to everyone you’ve met this whole time?!”

“Little child, what you’re doing at this moment is something we adults call ‘Hyperbole’, to some peasants. it’s a valid figure of speech, but to me and other grown-ups alike, it is nothing but exaggerated lies. And let it be known that through lying one cannot conduct a serious conversation. So, behave!” Gerard refuses to admit everyone hates him.

“But why? Why did you betray Mr. Kobashi? Why join the Terrorists? Why betray them too? I don’t get it!” Amelia has had enough.

“Ah, you’re aware of my adventures… If you’re so interested, I will explain everything to you peasants. These seemingly nonsensical patterns will reveal the one true crossword puzzle that is my ethos.”

Gerard pulls out his phone to put background music on…

Sadly, this is all we have for this thread! Thanks for playing! See you next one!
