Welcome to Hogwarts Genesis!

In this Quest you will start your journey as a first-year student at Hogwarts! To start things off lets determine your blood status in the Wizarding world to determine where you will begin.

>Muggle Born- You were born from muggle parents. You have no understanding of Magic and will start the journey with a strange man arriving at your families doorstep. You are the youngest of four siblings.

>Half Blood (Muggle world)- Your mother was a witch but your father was a muggle. Your mother slowly introduced magic to you when you started showing signs but did not fully explain it until your letter came in. You also learn that your younger brother and sister have magic that flows in them as well but don't know it yet. Your mother is a magizooligist and as you live on a farm many of the animals are disguised from their magical forms.

>Half Blood (Wizarding World)- Your father was a wizard and your mother a muggle. You grew up knowing about magic but also lived in the muggle world until you first showed signs of magic developing. You are the only child and you father is an Auror, he moved you and your mother fully into the wizarding world three years ago and has been eagerly awaiting your Hogwarts letter.

>Pure Blood- You were born from a magical bloodline. You fully comprehend magic but have no understanding of muggle culture or their world and have been waiting for your Hogwarts letter to come in. Today it finally has. You have an older brother that is already a 5th year, and your parents are famous alumni of the school.

I'll leave this up for 30 mins to an hour and whichever has the most votes by then we'll go with that!

I want to go pureblood but being ignorant of muggles is too big a weakness.

Blackwell Manor, 07/16/1895

It was another hot but windy day at the Blackwell Manor. You stand at the front steps of your home in front of you family's carriage. Suitcases are float from the front door to the back storage of the carriage with your family house elf, Fisher, following and ensuring there safe storage.

"Today's the day." You think to yourself as you continue waiting patiently. " I hope at least one of them will see me off."

Your mother and father have a bad habit of promising to show up but getting swept up in there work and not appearing. Today seems no different.

Sensing your distress fisher approaches you with his arms folded behind his back and posture stiff. He has always taken his position seriously and with honor.

"Young Master Blackwell are you feeling alright? Can Fisher assist you in any way?" the old house elf extends a helping hand.

"No Fisher that's alright you reply. I was just hoping my parents would be here to see me off." You say solemnly

"Fisher knows that the Masters of the house can be quite busy but Fisher believes they will be here any second."

As Fisher says this the medallion he wears around his necks flashes green twice indicating the Floo Powder Fireplace has been used.

"Ahhh see Fisher knew they would get here just in time!" He says as he rushes to the front door to open it for the masters of the house.

You straighten your blazer and fasten your tie as you ready yourself to greet your parents.

How do you feel about your parents showing up late?

> Annoyed. There always breaking there promises and showing up late.

>Relieved. You know there very busy people and you're grateful they even made it.

>Indifferent. They are always late or don't even show up, you've gotten used to it.

>Smug. You know that when your parents are late or don't show up they spoil you rotten to apologize.

You relax your shoulders and wear a neutral face. You've grown indifferent to their punctuality. At least they showed up.

Or so you thought.

Fisher charms open the giant doors to your mansion and instead of your parents standing in the doorway it your brother and his girlfriend.

Your brother stands around 5'10 with a sharp undercut of jet black hair. His green eyes brighten his smile as he looks at you with pride radiating from him.

Your brother has always been your biggest supporter, he is the one that helped you focus your magic when you first started casting and has always gone out of his way to be there for you when you needed him. At least that's how he is when he's around, he too is always busy since he is now a 5th year at Hogwarts and has been hanging around with his girlfriend more and more lately.

This is maybe the 5th time you've seem him since he's been back for summer. Hopefully now that you too will be attending Hogwarts you'll get to see more of your brother.

Your brother examines your face as the door open and grins

"Well don't look to excited to see me little brother you might have a heart attack." He smiles sarcastically as he throws open his arms expectantly

You rush over and hug your brother. The two of you have always been close and nothing seems to have changed.

"Sorry mom and dad couldn't make it. As soon as they said that I told them I'd make sure and take you to Diagon Alley myself so you wouldn't be alone."

After your brotherly embrace his girlfriend smiles and greets you

Your brothers girlfriend is a little taller than you standing at 5'6 with long blonde hair and crystal blue eyes.

"Hi there! I don't think we've officially met." She says sweetly and shakes your hand.

Its true, you've definitely seen each other when she sneaks over to see your brother but he's never introduced the two of you.

Your brother clears his throat and introduces her.

"This is Serena, we met at Hogwarts last year."

Serana offers you a warm smile

Fisher finishes loading the carriage and opens the door for you all to step in.

"Fisher hopes the young master has a great first day and wishes him good luck" he says with a smile

You thank Fisher and climb in.

The carriage is enchanted to be much bigger on the inside, its the size of a small elegant suite with a full kitchen and living room. You take a seat on the white and gold sofa.

Your brothers spends a moment outside speaking with fisher but then joins you in the carriage with Serena following close behind.

After a few moments you feel the carriage tug and you know you are now beginning your journey to Diagon Alley!

Your brother removes his blazer and finds a seat right beside you.

"Listen I know this is your first year at Hogwarts so you wouldn't really understand but you're going to meet a lot of different types of witches and wizards when you get there. Mom and Dad might now approve of it but I'm telling you its okay."

You furrow your brows in confusion. You aren't sure what he's trying to tell you

Seeing this, he explains "Serena isn't a member of House Slytherin nor is she a pure blood. She's a hufflepuff and was muggle born."

Your heart sinks a bit. Your parents are staunch pure blood believers and have always told you that anyone of impure blood was not your equal and to be interacted with as little as possible. They don't see them as people that belong in the wizarding world let alone being witches or wizards at all. Your family also have all been members of house Slytherin with your parents being famous Slytherin alumni

Serena's smile disappears and is replaced by a look of worry.

"Damian is that really okay to tell him? Now of all times?"

Your brother turns around to Serena "He's my little brother and he's going to need to know eventually, besides like I said he's going to meet all types of people in Diagon alley and Hogwarts. Better we talk about it now then later. I remember my first year and I wish someone had talked to me about it."

Your brother looks back at you "I'm not going to force you to believe one way or the other but where do you fall on that sort of stuff?"

"I don't hate people who aren't pure bloods." You reply

Your brother sighs in relief

"I think people with pure bloods are superior but I don't hate those who aren't" You clarify

Damian and Serena both wince slightly but wear faces that show they somewhat understand what your saying

"Well like I said you are going to meet a lot of different people at Hogwarts so all I ask is that you try to keep an open mind and learn as much as you can not just about spells and magic but also about different people and experiences."

You nod to your brother

"Okay well settle in for a long ride, we have about two hours before we arrive at Diagon Alley" Your brother raises his hand and says "Accio"

When he does a panel in the corner of the room opens and one of your suit cases flies to his hand.

He hands it to you.

"What'd you bring with you anyways? To pass the time I mean." he asks

You open your suit case and find

You reach into your suitcase and pull out your dummy wand.

Damian looks at you puzzlingly but also with a small grin

"I didn't know you were into dueling. Did mother teach you?"

"Yes, she said it was important for me to know the basics of how to defend myself."

Damian rises to his feet and pulls his wand out. You instantly recognize what type it is since your mom had you study wands and their dueling effectiveness.

Your brother wields an ebony wood wand with a dragon heart string, measuring at 11 1/2 Inches. You note that in your studies many dark wizards have had this wood type but also many great wizards, its a wood type with an impressive appearance and reputation.

Your brother casts a spell on the wall and 3 target circle appear. He leviosa's the furniture out of the way and makes an impromptu shooting range. Serena stands off to the side wondering what your brother is doing.

"Alright little brother lets see what you can do!" He says excitedly.

You ready your dummy wand and let out a deep breath.

Focused you unleash you dueling training.

You quickly let off 6 basic strikes with half as many seconds. You had always shown an aptitude for speed casting with basic strikes, your mother showed you how to hone those natural abilities and it has paid off.

You look at each target and see that you didn't hit any bullseyes but you were within two rings on each blast

Your brothers stares at you slack jawed

"How did you learn to strike that fast? I can't even do that!"

"Mother says I was just naturally this fast." You shrug

Your shakes his head and focuses on the targets.

Your brother fires off 3 basic strikes in as many seconds but his basic blasts are noticeably larger.

You look at his blast marks and he managed to score 2/3 bullseyes

Your brother puts his hands on his hips and smiles smugly.

"Sorry little brother, you may be fast but Im stronger and more accurate. Maybe if you ask nicely I'll show you some training tips" He teases

Serena rolls her eyes "Damian you're 4 years older than him are you really feeling that proud of yourself?"

She then turns to you "I can show you some training tips too, I may not be as good as Damian but I know a thing or two"

Interested at the proposal you agree to have Serena practice with you for the rest of the carriage ride.

Serena wasn't wrong when she said she wasn't as good as Damian. Her basic strikes power, speed, and accuracy were all average for a 5th year but you still beat her out in speed and matched her accuracy despite being younger. Her power was only slightly better purely due to age and little training

Watching you both practice Damian chimes in

"Serena might not be good at basic strikes but she is one of the best defensive magic users in her class. Her protego is 2nd only to the best 7th years. And she's great with utility spells as well" he praises "I'm decent at defensive magic and really need work on my utilities." He admits

Serena smiles proudly "When you start to learn spells like that you can come find me and I'll show you how to cast protego and other defensive magics better. Its a simple spell but you're going to use it all the time"

You nod your head and thank her for the offer.

"Now look at how you point your wand here" She says as she offers basic casting techniques for the remainder of the carriage ride. You don't gain any new skills but get to know your brothers girlfriend a little better. You can tell she appreciated you choosing to learn from her over Damian.

After a 2 hour ride you feel your carriage finally stop.

Damian puts his blazer back on and waits for you by the carriage door with a proud smile on his face

"Welcome to Diagon Alley little brother!"

You put your dummy wand back in its suit case and take your first steps out and onto the bustling streets of Diagon Alley.

"Take it all in little brother, it was a lot for me when I first came here for school supplies too" He says wistfully

You've been to Diagon alley with your mother many times for general shopping but you've never seen it so busy nor so many kids you're age here all at once. Its a little overwhelming and exciting but you remain calm as usual.

Serena steps out of the carriage last "Damian did you remember the list your mom gave you?"

"Oh right." He remember.

Damian pulls a list from his blazer pocket and skims over it briefly

"Ok little brother where do you want to go first?

You look at your brother as if he even had to ask

He chuckles "Of course you want your wand first"

With that the three of you set off into the crowd for Olivanders wand shop

Arriving with little trouble you open the door to the famous wand shop. It's wonderful. Shelves that look to go into the sky, thousands of wands stuffed in each cubby, and a line that extends to the front door.,

Slightly disappointed you patiently wait in line and take in your surroundings a little deeper.

Standing in front of you next in line is an Asian boy with an excited look on his face. He appears to be here on his own but looks like he's your age. His hair is long and tied into a ponytail. He seems to be wearing clothing you'd see on an average boy like most of the other kids here.

You continue scanning and see the line is full of children your age with a few older looking people sprinkled in. Off to the side of the line you see another boy your age although he looks no where near as happy as the one in front of you. He has short brown hair and wears expensive clothing, not unlike your own. In particular you notice an expensive looking ring that you would guess is a magic item.

He seems to be disappointed with the wand he was given and is trying to argue with one of the assistants. You can't tell what type of wand he has from here

The line moves forward a bit and you are able to move past the door.

As soon as you step from in front of the door it opens and a girl walks in. She too is alone and seems terrified. She notices you looking at her and averts her gaze quickly. She has medium length light brown hair and seems to be wearing hand-me-down clothes that have frayed ends and faded color.

Damian taps your shoulder

With your brother holding your spot in line you turn around and approach the girl behind you.

When you step up to her a bead of sweat appears on her forehead.

You aren't sure what her deal is but you just calmly introduce yourself.

"I'm Adrian Blackwell." You say nonchalantly and extend your hand to shake hers

Your calm demeanor seems to put her at ease and releases at least some of the anxiety she was feeling. She meekly grabs and shakes your hand. Her hand feels a little rough, you can feel she has little calluses on her hand.

"Hi, I'm Bethany Nortle." She speaks softly but actually maintains eye contact when she does

"I saw you looked kind of scared and this line is pretty long so I figured I might as well introduce myself and meet someone new while I wait for my wand." You explain. The line moves forward.

"Oh, well its just that I've never seen anything like this before. I was brought here by an odd man who said I could do magic and that there was a school to help me control it. My parents said that if it was true that I should come here and get the help I need. Bizarre things always happen around me but I never imagined it would be magic or anything crazy like that. But the odd told me to wait in line here by myself while he grabbed some other supplies and I'm just a little overwhelmed I guess." Bethany says deflated

Already meeting non-pure bloods you think to yourself.

You didn't think meeting your first non-pure blood would be this different. Shabby clothing, callused hands, no knowledge of magic. It seems so alien to you.

Your face must be showing a strong emotion because Bethanys turns from shy and scared to slightly frustrated

"Why are you making that face? You're looking at me like I'm weird or something. This is all crazy not me." She gestures the store and street

You explain to her that you've grown up around magic your entire life and that you've never interacted with someone like her before. Someone who has no concept of magic is indeed bizarre to you

Her expression softens a bit at your first explanation but rehardens when you double down that she is weird.

"Well you're weird to me too so I guess we're even."

Remembering your brothers words from earlier you try to extend an olive branch to this poor uneducated girl.

"If you want I can try to explain magic and some of the things you're seeing around here." you offer

Bethany looks a bit surprised "Oh well yeah that'd be really nice"

And so you spend the next 20 minutes or so giving a very brief overview of magic that an 11 year old can give before you finally reach the front of the line.

"Adrian its our turn" your brother turns back and tells you.

Bethany offers a look of gratitude "Thanks for trying to explain this stuff to me. I still don't really understand." She chuckles "And thanks for-"

Mid sentence a black glove comes down on her shoulder and a tall man with an eye patch appears behind her.

"Ms.Nortle. I hope the wait wasn't too long." The man says in a deep voice. He stands at around 6'2 and has a fit physique. He reminds you of some of the Aurors your mom works with

"Oh no it wasn't that long plus he kept me company" She points at you

The eye patch man turns his gaze upon you and is about to speak but your brother taps you on the shoulder again

"Adrian come on Mr. Olivander is waiting" he says hurriedly

You turn back and give Bethany a quick nod "Pleasure meeting you Bethany" you say before following your brother to the counter

"Nice meeting you too!" you hear her call out behind you.

>Bethany Relationship +10

Finally it's time.

You reach the front of the desk and find an old man in a set of green robes and a tall green hat.

"Why, hello there young man!" He greets you cheerily "If the trouble maker beside you is any indication you must be the famous Adrian Blackwell he always talks about." The man laughs loudly " I am Gerbold Octavious Olivander at your service!"

Your brothers smiles proudly "Yes this is my little brother that I told you about. He's finally starting his first year at Hogwarts." Damian explains

"Ahhhhhh so this'll be your first wand?!" he asks

"Not quite I've been using this dummy wand for practice" You pull out your dummy wand to show him

Mr.Olivander takes your wand and examines it closely

"Yes I can feel your essence radiating from this wand. You can tell alot from even a dummy wand like this."

Mr.Olivander pulls out a small magnifying crystal and examines your dummy wand further.

"Yes... you've used this wand many times, a soft wood wouldn't do. A duelist wand maybe? Or a reliable utility type wand? Curious. A calm essence is infused in the residual magic left here. Calm but determined to improve itself. A lighter wand is necessary. Mid length perhaps. Definitely know the core will be......"

Mr. Olivander puts away the crystal and hands you your dummy wand back.

"I think I know the type of wand you need. Give me one moment" He says as he goes off into the many shelves looking for wands

You turn back to Damian and Serena and both give you a thumbs up and wear excited expressions.

You turn back around again and find Mr.Olivander already back with three wand boxes in front of you

"Here you go young man, try these out" he says with a big grin

>Choose your wand

>Blackthorn Wood, Dragon heart string core, 12 inches in length with a slight flexibility

"Ah yes I believe I gave your mother a Blackthorn wand as well. A very unusual wand wood, has the reputation, in my view well-merited, of being best suited to a warrior. It is a curious feature of the blackthorn bush, which sports wicked thorns, that it produces its sweetest berries after the hardest frosts, and the wands made from this wood appear to need to pass through danger or hardship with their owners to become truly bonded. Given this condition, the blackthorn wand will become as loyal and faithful a servant as one could. Its dragon core produces great power and allows for quicker learning than the other cores but is a bit more prone to accidents than the other cores if not wielded correctly."

>Aspen Wood, Phoenix core, 10 inches in length and sturdy

"Oh the Aspen wood is quite interesting especially this one! Wand-quality aspen wood is white and fine-grained, and highly prized by all wand-makers for its stylish resemblance to ivory and its usually outstanding charmwork. The proper owner of the aspen wand is often an accomplished duellist, or destined to be so, for the aspen wand is one of those particularly suited to martial magic. In my experience, aspen wand owners are generally strong-minded and determined, more likely than most to be attracted by quests and new orders; this is a wand for revolutionaries. Its Phoenix core is quite rare. Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike."

>Rowan Wood, Unicorn Core, 13 inches in length and flexible

"Last but certainly not least we have this wand. Rowan wood has always been much-favored for wands, because it is reputed to be more protective than any other, and in my experience renders all manner of defensive charms especially strong and difficult to break. It is commonly stated that no dark witch or wizard ever owned a rowan wand, and I cannot recall a single instance where one of my own rowan wands has gone on to do evil in the world. Rowan is most happily placed with the clear-headed and the pure-hearted, but this reputation for virtue ought not to fool anyone – these wands are the equal of any, often the better, and frequently out-perform others in duels. Its unicorn core generally produces the most consistent magic and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard.

Minor disadvantages of unicorn hair are that they do not make the most powerful wands (although the wand wood may compensate)

You try both the Rowan and Blackthorn wands.

The Rowan wand feels completely wrong and misfires when you test it out causing a bright strobe light effect to go off and vibrates rapidly in your hand.

Mr. Olivander snatches the wand from you and places it back in its case. He offers a nervous chuckle "Looks like that one isn't compatible"

Rubbing your eyes as you agree, you grab and test out the Blackthorn wand.

It actually doesn't feel terrible. You are able to successfully basic strike but you lose a noticeable amount of speed in exchange for power. Coming to this realization flips a switch in the wand as if it sensed your hesitation and it immediately spits little fire balls into the air and tries to shake itself free of your grasp.

Mr. Olivander once again snatches the wand and slams it back into its case. He flails about for a moment trying to beat out a small fire in his beard. "Testy wand that one." He grimaces

You don't feel at all disheartened or embarrassed. You are calm and confident about the fact that you know the right wand will show itself and you simply need to be patient.

Finally Mr Olivander presents you with one more wand.

"Here you are young man, I think this one will fit you just right." He says as he hands you the wand box

You take it and open it to find an Aspen Wood wand. You can tell it has a Phoenix core because it has completely changed the normal Ivory colored Aspen Wood to a fiery red shade. It seems to be about 10 inches in length and study flexibility.

As soon as you take the wand in hand you immediately feel a surge of power rush through your body!

Feeling empowered you flick your wrist and cast a basic strike and it feel magnificent! You throw out a few more blasts and the power and speed you feel are incredible. You feel like with practice you'll be able to get even faster with your basic strikes and cast normal spells quicker as well with this wand.

Mr.Olivander laughs loudly and pats you on the back " Another perfect match! I dare say with a wand like that you'll be giving your brother a run for his money in no time. The Blackwell Family legacy of greatness seems to be following you young man. A wand like this doesn't go to anyone without a great destiny in store for them." he says earnestly

Mr. Olivanders words fill you with pride as you accept your wand. Finally a real wand for you to train with.

Damian steps forward " Congratulations little brother. A great wand for a soon to be great wizard." He says with a warm smile. He shakes Mr. Olvanders hands "Thank you like always Mr. Olivander it was great seeing you again"

"Always a pleasure Damian. Good luck on your 5th year." He turns to you "And Good Luck on your first year Young Adrian! I look forward to seeing you and that wand grow."

You thank Mr.Olivander and shake his hand with a small smile.

With your new wand in hand you, Damian and Serena make your way out of Olivanders and back onto Diagon Alley.

"Okay little brother where to nex-"

Your brother is interrupted by a chirping noise.

He pulls out a Pocketwatch from his blazer and grimaces at the time

"Okay Hogwarts express is leaving in about an hour. I still need to grab a couple things for my semester. I was hoping to spend a little more time with you but it looks like we are going to need to hurry up a bit."

Serena speaks up "I can go grab our stuff and meet you at the station! I sent an owl ahead with our purchases so it should be fast! I'll even grab some of Adrian's things while I'm over there. That way you two can at least check out one more place without being in a rush."

You are taken aback a bit, you aren't used to people offering to do things like that. Usually if it were your mother or father they would have just taken there time and made you late with little care or left the task to fisher to complete. No pure blood you've ever met has done something like that. She's offering to do servants work in exchange for nothing. Bizarre. These Non Pure Bloods are fascinating. Bethany as well.

Damian embraces Serena and kisses her tenderly "You're amazing. Thank you my love. I'll make it up to you I promise."

Serena blushes and begins to walk away "Don't be silly think nothing of it! I'll see you in a bit and meet you at the station!" she calls out

Now its just you and Damian.

You look up at your brother and can see the love he has in his eyes for that girl. You've never seen that kind of look on him. Maybe on Father when you were younger but not recently. Old People are weird you think to yourself.

You nudge his side as he stares into the crowd

"Sorry about that" He refocuses "Okay we can hit one more shop and take out time with it the others Serena will hit and we will just speed through the others"

>Owl wins

Damian gives you the list so you can quickly review your options.

You have to be honest with yourself. You are torn between three options. The Tailor, The Pet shop, and The book store.

Spending a few too many minutes thinking it over you figure you'll go tot he Tailor first and spend most of the time there but want to check out the other too as well even if its just a quick run through. You compromise with yourself.

You inform your brother about your decision.

"Alright then little brother, let's hit the tailors. Mrs.Edrell is "friends" with Mother so this should be interesting. " and with that you and Damian make your way down Diagon alley

You reach the tailor shop with little trouble. The shop itself is small on the outside like most buildings here but the inside is massive, more so than the wand shop it looks like. Looms and sewing supplies everywhere, workers carrying magical threads and materials flying around, magical clothing if every kind you can imagine on display shelves and enclosed within glass chambers.

Its all so chaotic but clean and organized at the same time. Even with the influx of kids roaming around

Upon entering and briefly looking around small cloud of sparkling dust poofs in front of you and a small pixie appears.

"Welcome to The Wonderous Wizarding Thread World! My name is Sortra. How can I help you two gentlemen today?" She welcomes you

Before you can say anything Damian steps forward

"Hi, we're here to see Madam Edrell. We're Galatea Blackwell's son." Damian asserts

Immediately upon hearing your mothers name the Pixie's face turns into a panic

"Oh I'm so sorry, yes sir I'll go fetch her right now!" And the Pixies poofs away

You aren't surprised by the Pixie's reaction, your mothers name often has that effect on people if not the polar opposite. Either unbridled fear or undying admiration. No in between.

You look up at Damian to gauge his reaction and its different.

Damians usual smile and positive energy is gone and replaced by a frown and stoic gaze.

You know Damian hates name dropping your parents, especially your mother. You aren't exactly sure why but mother must have instructed him to do so on your behalf.

After only a few moments a person blinks into existence before you both.

It is a tall woman wearing a red robe covered in what looks to be eye balls. Her face is obscured by magic and only her purple eyes are visible.

This must be Madam Edrell.
>>
>>5574421

Madam Edrell bows before you and Damian.

"It's always a pleasure to have Blackwells in my store." She says with a cautious tone

Her eyes narrow at you. She begins floating and starts flying around you slowly, examining every inch of you with every eye on her robe

"This must be the first year your mother had said would be coming." She says absent-mindedly still examining you. As she continues examining you eight random arms begin folding out of the robes as well with measuring tapes and magnifying crystals to measure and examine you closer.

"Yes this is my little brother Adrian. Our mother said to notify you when we arrived at this store and you would know what to do."

Madam Edrell finally finishes examining you and the arms retreat back into the robe only to return with threads, needles and curious materials. The arms then begin moving at a blinding speed.

"Yes, I've been awaiting your arrival all day. Allow me."

Another arm appears from the robe but this time with a wand. With a flick of her wrist you all are teleported to an empty white and gold room.

Another Flick of her wrist and the empty room is filled with chests of varying sizes and shapes

"One moment." She says as she begin floating away to several chests.

She returns with three. She opens the first inside lies a set of goggles shaped and designed like a eagles.

"These are the eyes of the eagle. Wear them and you will be able to see everything at extreme distances with clear detail. Great for use on brooms." she explains

The second chest opens. Inside is a white robe with many ? patches on it

"This is the robe of useful things. The patches on it when removed have different magical effects and summon useful things."

The last chest opens and inside is a pair of black slipper with intricate glowing spiderwebs interwoven throughout them.

"Lastly these are the boots of spider climbing. Wear these and you will be able to climb any surface vertical or otherwise."

The three chest lie before you with Madam Edrell floating behind them

"Please select one item you would like to take. A personal gift from me to the newest Blackwell at Hogwarts." she says and offers and bow

You nod your head and look at the three chests

Making your decision you grab the Boots of Spider Climbing.

" A very practical choice." Madam Edrell says as she waves her wand and all the chests disappear and you are transported back to the front entrance of the store. An arm reaches out from the robe with a bag which you drop the boots into and take.

The arms behind her hadn't stopped moving the throughout your entire interaction but finally stop. The arms reach around and hand you a set of freshly woven robes. The material is very expensive and craftsmanship is superb. Truly robes fit for a Wealthy Pure Blood Wizard.

You drop the robes into the bag as well and and thank Madam Edrell for the items.

"No thanks are necessary, it was truly a pleasure to serve the Blackwells once again." She bows before you again

As you and Damian are about to leave Madam Edrell clears her throat and looks at you both meekly "You will tell your mother I was helpful to you, Yes?" she pleads softly.

Damian nods his head stoically and you both exit the shop.

Not having much time left you quickly make your way to the book store next. You are able to get all the standard books neccesary but the long lines made it to where you almost didn't have enough time to get to the pet shop.

You arrive at the Petshop at the last second but everything was gone already. Damian stressed that you needed to make your decision quickly so he takes you to a small stall on the side of the street with small cages of scared looking owls that didn't exactly look healthy. You look quickly decide to go with a black owl with one missing eye and an injured wing. It was the only one that didn't seem scared of you. The stall owner assure you that the wing has already been treated and he can still fly if not slower than other owls.

Damian also assures you that the owl might need surgery to be fully restored and that isn't an issue later on. With it all being said and done you take the owls cage and set off for the Hogwarts Express station at the end of Diagon Alley.
>>
>>5574577

You arrive at the train station with 5 minutes to spare.

Serena spots you both through the crowd and makes her way over.

Damian turns to you "Alright little brother this is where we part ways. Serena and I will be further up the train with the rest of the 5th years, 1st years are in the back" He gestures to the cart behind you quickly filling with students.

"If you need anything use this." He hands you a red stone. "Just hold it and think of me to activate it." He pulls out an identical one and shows you "I'll know to come looking for you when you activate it."

You accept the stone and thank him.

Serena finally makes her way to you both and hands you a suitcase

"Here you go Adrian, everything you need is in there! Goodluck with everything and it was really nice to meet you! Sorry if we're in a rush but we HAVE to get to our cart before it closes." She says with a charming smile while tugging Damian along with her.

Damian goes along with her and calls back to you "Goodluck little brother! Try to make some friends on the ride!" and like that they disappear into the crowd and leave you alone to board the train.

This is it.

You grab your suitcase, bag and owl cage as you take your first steps onto the Hogwarts Express.

As you make your way through the tight halls of the train you notice most of the seating room are particularly full minus a few.

You scan your options and decide to sit

You decide to go with the cabin with the most students. You approach the cabin and knock. The student all go quiet and look to the door confused. The kid from the wand shop stands up and looks at you through the glass of the door

>Pure-Blood Trait

He gives you a quick scan and his face switches from confusion and skepticism to a welcoming grin. He slides the door open

"Sorry about that mate, didn't know if some muggle born had wondered into the wrong cabin again." He extends his hand with the smile of a wolf "Asmodeus Gaunt"

You shake his hand with confidence. "Adrian Blackwell."

He seems to instantly recognize the name " Ah a Blackwell! Your brother plays quidditch with my sister and your Father slayed that mud dragon last year! Please meet the rest of us."

Asmodeus turns to the side and introduces the rest of the cabin

He points the boy he was sitting next to. A tall boy with long fiery red hair and thick glasses wearing what looks like a magic blazer from the faint glow it lets off

"That's Phineas Prewett." He fixes his glasses and offers you a nod and a smile

"I've heard a a lot about your brother. Welcome."

Next he introduces a girl with long blonde hair and piercing blue eyes wearing a magic set of gloves.

"That's Morgana Malfoy." She smiles at you and then starts fiddling with the board they were all messing with before.

"Pleasure to meet you Blackwell. Let me set the board so you can join."

Asmodeus continues the introductions. Next He points the another tall boy but this one looks looks to bulkier that the rest of you, not fat just big for an 11 year old.

"That is Solomon Bulstrode." He gives a simple nod and wears a stoic expression on his face.

Asmodeus introduces the last student. A girl with long black hair and serious purple eyes.

"Last but not certainly not least Teresa Black." She gives a courteous nod and practiced smile.

You greet them all and thank them for having you. "Finally people I'm used to" you think to yourself as you recognize all of their house names. They all come from pure blood families like you.

You step into the cabin and Asmodeus stands next to you.

"Sit wherever you like" he says but then corrects himself "Wait with you we can play in teams! sit whoever you want to pair with. The game is hunters and beast. Its awesome!"

You've never played this game but know its very popular and involves two hunters and two beasts hunting each other in the forbidden forest and you roll magic dice to see who wins.

You decide to pair up with the girl names Teresa.

Solomon gets up and sits across from Morgana so you can sit between her and Teresa.

"Okay!" Asmodeus claps his hands together "Have you ever played?" He asks

You shake your head and he gives you a quick rundown of the rules. It's a game that relies on cunning strategy and cooperative play with your partner. Almost like Wizards Chess but with a partner and dice. The board is enchanted to project the characters and the forbidden forest and have simulated fights when they occur.

Having been explained the rules and ready to begin Asmodeus pairs with Phineas.

"Alright Blackwell lets have go, Phineas you're with me. Losers buy lunch for the everyone." He says with a wicked grin

Not afraid of a challenge you accept the terms without hesitation.

Phineas speaks up "Lets spice it up Asmodeus, I want to learn more about this Blackwell fellow. How about winner gets to ask losers any one question and they can't lie." the others in the cabin nod there in agreement seeming to want to know more about you. "We can use Morganas gloves to make sure."

You look over at Teresa who just shrugs her shoulders.

You again accept the terms unafraid of losing.

Asmodeus and Phineas grin smugly as you all ready for the game

Both lose the smugness and gain embarrassed grins instead.

You and Teresa beat them easily

>Teresa Relationship +2

>7/100

"Alright Blackwell ask away" Asmodeus casually lay back and crosses his arms

Phineas pulls the lever to summon cabin service "What did you all want to eat?

You decide to order yourself a full meal since you aren't paying and then ask them about what clubs they plan to join at Hogwarts

You had only meant to ask Phineas and Asmodeus but everyone decides to chime in

Asmodeus goes first "Obviously I plan on playing quidditch, I've been practicing my broom handling since I was child. Plus my sister is one of the starting chasers and co-captain for Slytherin so I'm sure she'll get me in no sweat." he wears a confident smile.

Phineas is next and says "I plan on joining Herbology club, I want to grow my own Tentacula and Chomping cabbages so I can explore the forbidden forest and find rarer combat plants!" he seems genuinely excited describing the forbidden forest.

Morgana speaks up next "Well I plan on joining the Duelist club, no one has better aim than me. I'm going to be the youngest champion Hogwarts has ever seen." She says yearningly

Solomon motions to Morgana and say "I'm joining Duelist Club too."

Finally Teresa also jumps in and says "I'm joining the alchemist club. My father told me about all the extra potions you can make that they won't teach in the regular classes. Plus we're allowed to sell them in Hogsmeade if they're good enough. Father says he'll buy me a shop if I can master potions brewing

"What about you Blackwell?" Asmodeus asks

"More than likely Duelist Club. My mother has been training me and I've got a knack for speed casting."

The rest of them look intrigued particularly Solomon and Morgana

But before they can say anything a loud thud rings out from behind you like something heavy was thrown at the wall in the cabin next door.

All of you turn around and look at the wall in disbelief.

Another loud thud but this time its accompanied by a loud bang like a spell going off inside the train and sounds farther away

While this is going on you feel the stone in your pocket from Damian growing hot. You pull it out and see that it's glowing bright red.

Asmodeus rises from his seat "What the devil is going on?" He makes his way to the cabin door then looks back to you all "Come on lets go check it out."

Everyone else seems to be getting up and plan on going with him besides Teresa who says she's not going anywhere.

You look down at the glowing stone in your hand and wonder whether it means Damian is coming to look for you or if he's trying to get you to go to him. He didn't explain what it meant if your stone glowed.

"Blackwell, you coming?" Asmodeus asks

You think for a second about going to find Damien but ultimately decide to go with Asmodeus and the others. You rise from your seat and draw your wand, ready for danger.

"Of course." You say with a determined look

Asmodeus grins and at the sight of you drawing your wand he does the same, as do all the others.

"Alright then let's go take a loo'"

Before Asmodeus can finish his words you all hear a girl scream and cry for help.

At the sound of this you all rush out into the hall and are met with a stampede of students running in the opposite direction of you. They all wear faces of terror and rush their ways past you in a panic, slamming the five of you against the wall.

"MONSTER!!!" One boy with a shirt that's been ripped to pieces shouts as he too runs past all of you.

Asmodeus and Phineas look at each other as if contemplating whether they should really go further.

The girl screams out again for help but is followed by a horrific inhuman howl that sends chills down your spine.

Morgana and Solomon rush forward beside you

"Are you ready for this?" Morgana asks you with a face courage.

"Are you insane? We're first years Morg! We don't even know how to cast spells! Besides we'll get into so much trouble if engage in whatever that thing is and one of us gets hurt for it. We need to go with the others and find an adult. Only an Idiot would go further. We need to be smart and get away while we can." Phineas's face grows serious. He doesn't seem frightened or at the very least he is hiding it very well. You sense he's coming from a place of pure logic and not cowardice.

Morgana does not back down however saying "Listen we are Pure-Bloods, we are more powerful than those cowardly mudbloods! Besides think about it, if we all take on this thing together with just basic casts and either kill it or drive it away, we'd be famous before even getting to Hogwarts!"

Phineas looks at her slack jawed. "You really are insane." He says in complete disbelief

You look to Solomon who rolls his eyes and Morganas reasoning but stands ready to go forth.

Asmodeus looks conflicted and doesn't know who to go with.

As this is discussion is going on you notice that the screaming has stopped. Its dead silent.

The others notice this as well and silence there bickering and turn their attention to the end of the hall.

A grotesque green scaly hand with long overgrown black nails grips the doorway to the cabin at the end of the hall. A thud rings out as it takes a step. You barely see the end of its foot. It almost looks like the foot of a giant bird. Yellow dry and shriveled skin tipped with razor sharp talons.

Once again the stone in your pocket begins glowing and gets hotter. It had cooled before in the silence but seems to be reactivating.

The time for action is now. Before the creature fully steps out.

What do you do?

I like Morgana's reasoning and attitude here, we are better then the rest of them and so who else is going to do anything?
We're unlikely to do much, but we might be able to drive it off and that's plenty enough.
We might also want to touch the stone and think of Damien if and when we can, since it will at least let him know we're alive.

Also a monster, huh? I would'a bet on the Irish. Bombing a train like that seems right up their alley.

You stay where you are with Morgana and Solomon.

"We'll stay here and hold off whatever that thing is. You and Asmodeus go and get help." You say while steeling your nerves in preparation for whatever comes through that door.

Phineas readily agrees and is already turned around ready to bolt "You got it. We'll be right back!" He says as he takes off

Asmodeus however shakes his head and joins you, Morgana, and Solomon, standing ready to fight beside you.

"I'm not going anywhere mate. Now go get help. They should already be on their way." He asserts

Phineas shakes his head and continues into the next train carriage.

When the door to the exit shuts your attention snaps back to the end of the hall where you find a horrific creature standing a still as stone.

The creature is a grotesque amalgamation of limbs, and skin.

Its skin is covered in sickly green scales with puss filled boils in between the cracks. Its arms look to be poorly stitched on at the shoulder with its limbs far to long for the rest of its body as they nearly drag against the floor.

In its right hand clutched is an unconscious girl you remember from earlier. Bethany. You only assume she's unconscious because she isn't dripping blood or has a dramatic injury that you can see

Its legs also appear to be sewn on but the already shoddy looking threads appear to be hanging on for deal life as they uncomfortably threaten to come undone at a moments notice. The legs aren't remotely human, they look like the belong on a giant diseased chicken.

All of these bizarre and terrifying limbs are attached to a somewhat human torso covered in stitches and and scars along its disturbed scaly skin.

The worst yet however is its head.

Thin spindly strings of hair sparsely cover the top of the creatures head but not enough to cover its enormous bugling eyes.

Its eyes are murky bloodshot moons staring at you with intense aura radiating into your spine.

Its fanged maw drips with a bloody saliva as it gibbers to itself softly with its canines being elongated to the point where it couldn't shut it mouth if it wanted to. You can't imagine what it might be saying

All of you stand there paralyzed by fear.

The creature then closes its eye and inhales deeply with two mangled slits where its nose should be. Its sniffing the air.

Its eyes shoot open at you all and lets out a horrifying screech and drops to all fours like a feral animal.

Bethany's body drops with a thud as the creature releases her.

"NEED PURE BLOOD!" it howls "I NEED, I NEED, I NEED!"

Its body tenses and you can tell its readying an attack.

Your body fills with adrenaline and dread at this sight and is now running on pure instinct. Fight, Flight, or?

Your mothers voice echoes in your head, her training, you two sparring, her kneeling down in front of you telling you never stop until you are the victor. These memories flood your mind and snap you out of your paralyzed state and you act!

With flawless precision you weave the basic cast sign with your wand and a lighting fast bolt of energy erupts from its tip. With a swift flick of your wrist another bolt of energy follows the other out.

Both blasts hit the creature with stunning accuracy sending the creature flying into the wall behind it with a thunderous crash.

You hear your heart thumping in your skull and feel it beating through your chest pumped full of adrenaline. Your mind races and doesn't let you take even a second. GO GO GO is all that's running through your head.

Morgana, Solomon, and Asmodeus are still standing there paralyzed by fear. You turn back to them and yell "DON'T GIVE IT A CHANCE TO GET UP! WE CAN DO THIS!"

You turn back around ready to attack again but come to see the creature attempting to pick itself back up.

However it suddenly is assaulted with beam after beam of magic energy.

You turn your head back around and see Morgana, Solomon, and Asmodeus with faces of pure tenacity as they fight there fear and fire their wands over and over.

Your words snapped them back to reality and your actions rallied them up to attack alongside you.

You turn back and fire your wand with them over and over for until all of you are out of breathe.

A cloud of smoke hangs at the end of the hall encasing it in darkness. Luckily Bethany is still on the floor and not within the smoke so now blasts hit her by accident.

All of you wait in with anxiety as you try to catch your breathes. All of you huffing and puffing as though you had ran three miles. All staring at this cloud of smoke.

After a few eternal seconds you all get the answer you did not want.

The creature shoots out of the smoke with stunning speed like a tiger pouncing for its kill.

The creatures sickly green scaly skin hangs off its body revealing its true pale white emaciated skin, so thin its blood vessels are completely visible, in patches where your magic blasts hit. Its true skin smokes and burns from the sunlight peeking through the train windows.

Its mouth opens inhumanly wide as its jaw unhinges itself to do so and it screams in pain from the sunlight, its saber like teeth drip with bloody saliva.

It turns its attention back to the three of you and looks at you with crazed eyes about to charge and strike again.

"DEPULSO!" You hear faintly before the door to the left of the creature is blown off of its hinges and smashes into it with a sickening crunch as its thrown through the wall and into the cabin beside it.

The roaring wind of the moving train blows inside and and you all cover your faces to block any debris that might fly your way.

After a moment however you hear a set of boots step inside the cart from the doorless frame.
>>
>>5580400

A man in a black trench coat and hat steps into the cart, carefully approaching the hole the creature was knocked through. The man has the distinct look of a monster hunter from the stories you used to read as child. The man beneath his trench coat has silver and wooden stakes strapped to his belt. A spray can holstered on his side and a blade attached to the side of his boot. The man wears black gloves as he holds his wand steady and ready for attack with the form of a seasoned veteran. HIs face concealed by a black bandana. You do recognize one thing though, the Beast hunter insignia sewn on the shoulder of the mans trench coat.

As fast as it went down the creature returns even faster. You hear the creature throw the door off of itself and roar in preparation for another attack.

The hunter on reflex shouts "ARRESTO MOMENTUM!" and the spell fires off into the debris.

The creature shrugs this off however as you hear the spell land but the Creature still launches itself at the hunter.

Your hear the hunter curse to himself as the now twisted and mangled creature slams into him with full force and his wand flies out the doorless frame into the wind. The hunter is tackled to the floor with the creature viciously snapping its jaws trying to rip the hunters throat out with its teeth. Its awkwardly large avian legs trying to find some footing to push itself further down on the hunter but manages to rend a deep gash in the hunters leg with one of its talons

"I NEED! I NEED! I NEED! PURE BLOOD!" Its yells into the hunters face covering him in bloody saliva as it again goes back to chomping the air now just centimeters from his face.

The creature stops is stopped in its tracks however as the hunter slides a silver stake from his belt and drives it into the emaciated belly of the creature. The creature howls in pain and is then kicked into the wall by the hunter.

In one swift move the hunter is back on his feet with a hand size round glowing bottle ready to be thrown.

He looks over at the four of you and yells "COVER YOUR EYES NOW!"

All of you do as asked and then a bright light flashes as you hear the bottle smash.

Then, Silence.

"You can uncover your eyes now." The man says.

As you begin to uncover your eyes you get a strange feeling in the pit of your stomach like you recognize that voice.

Sure enough.

Standing above the creature in front of you all is none other than you're father.

Before you have time to process all of this the creature lets out a weakened groan and twitches

"DEPULSO" The door behind you also slams open.

You turn around to see the tall fit man with an eye patch that was with Bethany earlier rushing through the doorway with his wand at the ready.

Phineas is following close behind him.

The man with the eye patch reaches you all in a split second and begins checking you all for injuries and asking what happened.

This is followed by the sound of a blade slicing and the creatures final death shriek.
>>
>>5580471

You turn back around to see the creature decapitated with its head hanging in your fathers hand, green and crimson blood coats the blade in his other hand.

His leg finally catching up to him he drops to one knee in pain and drops the creatures head.

The man in the eye patch then pulls you behind him and orders the four of you to go with Phineas to the next cart with the others.

You all follow the mans instructions without hesitation. Still trying to processing the last five minutes.

Phineas guides you all to the next train cart which is completely filled with other students all yelling questions at the four of you asking what happened and where is the professor and why you all look like that and who died.

Phineas tries his best to shout down the other student down and to get them to give you space.

An elderly woman in a Hogwarts robe pushes past the mob of students and orders them to back up. Slowly the students back away enough for the Hogwarts woman to guide you to an empty cabin followed by Asmodeus, Morgana, Solomon, and Phineas.

"Please wait here and we will come back to check your injuries. Please do not leave this room until a member of staff comes and retrieves you." The woman says in a gentle tone.

The door to the cabin closes and you all are left there in silence.

Wowowowow sorry about how long all of that was fellas.

Taking a small 1 hour break to chill out and then I'll be back (fr this time)

Hope y'all are enjoying so far.

I made a character sheet and its almost done, should be complete by Sunday. Am going to go back and re read everything and add traits/feats/etc based off of what we've done so far plus inventory.

Class schedule will be after the sorting ceremony and you will get to choose one elective and two after school activities with Sunday being a free day. You will plan out your week every Sunday and classes will be graded based homework completed during the week with events sprinkled in randomly.

Finding a balance of school, after school activities, and socializing will be the key to a successful school year.

Lucky? As Morgana said we're superior and this really ought to be plenty enough proof for anyone.

>>5580533
I can definitely agree with proud and relieved. Seems a reasonable reaction considering his rather calm and collected personality so far. Tho I will argue for a degree of smugness because... Well, we're an eleven year old who just fought a monster that everyone else ran away from, and have been raised on what I assume is a pretty diehard diet of racial superiority.

>>5580536
>Bethany
While I understand where you're coming from mate... I think we had more pressing things on our mind and there's a major adrenaline rush right now... Also worrying about some muggle and not our father (or even worse: Our father's thoughts on our performance!) is kinda weird.

>>5580548
Sure am. Otherwise we wouldn't be here
and it all sounds jolly good to me guv
>>
>>5580565
But I was worried about dad
>>
Right here
>Thinking that monster hunters are cool, and having a new appreciation of father's job
I even put it higher on the list, although I guess worried is the wrong word, but more thinking of him.

Kind of a stream of consciousness deal of the thoughts leading to one another (if I hadn't forgetten the proud): First being proud we fought it, then think we would be screwed if dad didn't arrive, then think he is cool, then think of the monster yelling about blood, and lastly think of Bethany (because the monster was holding her)
>>
>>5580589
you really ought to be more worried about what father is going to say. Did he approve of our effort? Is he disappointed that we did something dumb which could (should?) have killed us?
Everything we've heard about our parents paint them in a very particular light and I could very much see Adrian fretting over his father's opinion of what we did. Cause it could go either way. It very much could.
>>
>>5580609
You should suggest it then.
>>
Unless QM also reads the comments when taking the feelings in consideration
>>
>>5580612
Fair enough!

I think we should add worrying about father's opinion to the list. Thoughts, gentlewitches and wizards?
>>
>>5580618
I think it could be an interesting thought, showing a wish to make our family proud, or at least avoid our parent's disappointment. Our interaction with our brother and training under mother shows that we care for our family, and know what to expect of them.
However we did feel indifference with their being lateness, being used to it. So perhaps we are used to simply accept their judgement instead of hoping for praise or fearing punishment?

Tldr; I'm torn, there's good reasons for either.
>>
>>5580522
>After those events how does Adrian feel?

>Mostly proud of his skills and the training of his mother
>glad to be alive
>>
>>5580618
Sure. We should really try to stay concise though.
>"Proud, relieved, worried"
seems like the most plausible option so far. I doubt Adrian is going to think of anything complicated with adrenaline still in his blood.
>>
>>5580634
Actually, is there some word for a feeling between worry and acceptance? I think that could fit. I'm sure there is one but I'm drawing a blank right now.
Expectant, anxious, apprehensive?

See that is the exact same interaction I'm drawing my conclusions on: He wasn't surprised when the parents never showed up.
It's not a warm and nurturing relationship, and given that our mother has trained us to fight with magic *and* how scared people are of her and ontop of that they are full on "Purebloods are superior."
I can see the two of them being rather harsh and demanding parents, and rather prone to critique.

Before anyone can speak Morgana bursts out into a fit of laughter

"By Merlin we actually did it! We actually beat that thing and lived!" she pats herself down still laughing "And not a scratch on us! Wait until the whole school hears about this! We're ganna be so famous!" she exclaims

Morganas excitement infects Solomon who breaks his stoic character for a second and begins chuckling lightly

Asmodeus begins to laugh nervously mostly in disbelief that everything that happened HAPPENED. "I can't believe we're alive after that."

"I told you! We're Pure Bloods, we are so much stronger than those mudbloods who ran and this is exactly the proof that shows it! Not one of those cravens tried to stop that thing even with that girl crying for help. Disgraceful. Just like a mudblood to tuck tail and run when things get start happening." She spits on the floor

Phineas speaks up with an annoyed look on his face "First of all you're insane. Second of all what the heck happened when I left? And who was that guy that killed the creature? And why did-" Solomon covers Phineas's mouth.

Morgana lets out a dramatic sigh and proceeds to explain what happened.

"Then Adrian fired basics at the thing faster than anyone I've ever seen! And he wasn't scared for a second! I mean neither was I but he's the one that rallied us and got us all to fire at the same time! Merlins Beard we hit that thing like a thousand times but it still didn't go down!"

Phineas's jaw hangs open listening to the details.

Morgana then finishes describing the rest of the events with the hunter and the creature until Phineas is fully caught up.

Phineas's jaw is on the floor by the end. He stares at you like you are a god or some higher being.

"THAT'S SO COOL!" he yells in excitement.

He quickly realizes that he yelled that and clears his throat in embarrassment before speaking normally

"I mean that was a really admirable performance and you should be proud of yourself" He says in an attempted cool voice

Morgana rolls her eyes "You are so lame."

She then turns her attention to you "But Phineas is right, that was amazing back there! You're going to be the most popular first-year in Hogwarts after this." She says in admiration. "We all are!"

Asmodeus and Solomon nod their heads in agreement

Morgana then puts her hand out in front of her and between the five of you.

"I think we all make a pretty good team, so lets make it official! Us five against Hogwarts! Together we can own this school and anything it throws at us and be known as the greatest Witch and Wizards they've ever seen!"

Solomon and Asmodeus both again nod their heads in agreement and put there hands in the circle

"We all watch each others back and push one another to be the best we can no matter what!" Morgana continues

Phineas shyly asks "What about Teresa?"

"You're lucky I'm including YOU in this. Are you in or out?" She asks annoyed.
>>
>>5580707

Phineas's face glows bright red as he claps back "You're lucky I'M considering being included in this! I'm the one that went to get actual help, you got lucky this time but next time you'll be grateful I found someone so fast!"

Morgana Rolls her eyes again and sighs "Yeah Yeah whatever, In or Out?"

Phineas concedes and puts his hand in the circle." Only because I know you guys will get yourselves killed without me."

As the last person without their hand in the circle all eyes are on you.

Each of them look to you with eyes of admiration and respect.

Putting your hand in this circle is no small ordeal. It binds you all together as close friends that watch each others back and look to better one another. It doesn't mean you can't be friends with anyone else or hang out with other people but if the anyone from team needs something or wants to hang out you will automatically be ready unless you roll otherwise. Declining to put your hand in would be a sign of great disrespect and more than likely lead to them becoming rivals/enemies. You all are 11 year old children and emotions run high with these things. You can't help but let a smug smile escape as you nonchalantly put your hand in the circle with the rest of your new friends. You all smile at each other and laugh at how ridiculous you all look. Except for Morgana who swears you all look cool and stresses how important the circle is. After a silent second all of you laugh again, her included this time.

And so it was. Today was the day you made your first real friends.

The moment is short lived however as the door to the cabin suddenly slides open.

In the doorway stands the man with the eye patch.

He steps in and closes the door behind him.

>Attacked Creature

The man wears a scowl on his face as he looks at each of you individually.

"Before we begin. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Hogwarts's Professor of the Defense against the Dark Arts Classes. Professor Rumania."

The professors eye lands on you and you can feel your spine twitch under his gaze.

"Now. Would any of you like to explain exactly why four children no older than my shoes stayed behind in a train cart with a monster that could have ripped them all to shreds while one of their peers with a somewhat functioning brain between their ears came to acquire my assistance only for me to arrive there with a dead creature, a destroyed cabin, an injured huntsman, and most egregious of all, four wands in the hands of said children with no magic training and fully aware of the laws prohibiting spellcasting outside of school grounds with magic residue dripping from those very childrens wands as we speak." The Professor calmly inquires with venom secreting from every word that leaves his mouth.

You nervously look down at your wand and cant see any magic residue he's talking about. It looks completely normal. Could he be bluffing?

His words sting your stomach and freeze your heart.

You all look to each other, cautiously waiting for one of you to speak up.

"One of you. Explain." He demands.

Morgana crosses her arms in defiance of the professor in an attempt to show she doesn't fear him.

Solomons face switches from slightly worried to his usual stoic face but dares not look the professor in the eyes or show disrespect.

Asmodeus sighs and give you all a look that begs for your goodluck as he prepares to jump to his death and is about to speak up

The Professor awaits an answer. You know this is going to end badly.

What do you do?

Our parents do this for a living, we know some legalese
>"The use of magic by underage individuals is permissable in life-threatening situations."
>"As you clearly pointed out this creature could have 'ripped us all to shreds', which I'd count as you agreeing this sub-paragraph to have been fulfilled."
>"We heard a scream, came to check out why it happened, saw that injured people were already running away from it and figured that they would have already be calling for help."
>"Then we saw the creature over an already unconscious girl, and we decided to distract it so it wouldn't get the chance to kill her. Even if it puts us in harms way."
>"Tell us, what did we do wrong, Professor?"
>>
>>5581221
Sub paragraph? Legalese?
First of all we have no indication that we know any of these things and second we're an eleven year old coming down from an adrenaline rush...
Something like "there was a monster and since all the cowards ran it was up to us (purebloods) to hold it off"
Short, calm as Adrian is want to be and with hints of supremacy.
>>
>>5581221
Supporting this if possible. Though, based on the "Pure blood!" thing it was screaming, it probably wouldn't have harmed her, but Professor Rumania doesn't need to know we know that.
>>
>>5581229
Our big brother is not an adult yet, and he and his girlfriend clearly used magic in our home without either our parents being present for the sake of training.
I very much expect us to know the loopholes to when one is allowed to cast magic
That is to say that I should not have deleted saying I up the bullshitmeter. Especially bullshitting on saying something about 'sub-paragraphs'
I deleted it because we technically still tell the truth in accordance to that option
>>
>>5581092
She decided to stay in the cabin instead of coming with us, so she didn't even need to run away.

Since you guys do have Prideful as an official trait this option would be totally valid and would play into Adrian's character and develop him more so I'm going to include it. Nice work anons

To promote this type of behavior I'm giving you guys 1 Merlin Point (Destiny Points) I wont give them away like candy but when you earn'em you earn'em :)

They can be used at any time to do the following

Stabilize Adrian when he would have otherwise died.
Bring Adrian from being unconscious back to 1 HP.
Transform a missed attack into a success.
Transform a successful attack into a critical hit.
Transform a successful attack by an opponent into a miss.
Influence a NPC to have him favorably change his attitude towards you. This will possibly not change the NPC's general intentions, so for example even if the NPC is favorably inclined towards Adrian, he might not decide to abort his planned attack on the school; however, he might decide to capture Adrian instead of kill him, or to give detention instead of taking away House Points.
Succeed a skill-related act with the best possible result.

If there's something else you want to use the Merlin Points on just ask and we can work something out :)

>Prideful

You furrow your brow and look Professor Rumania in the eye refusing to allow him dimmish you and your friends accomplishment defending yourselves from a monster everyone else ran from.

Besides you know the laws about underage spellcasting and spellcasting outside of school grounds more than most. Your mother, being an Auror and Alumni of Hogwarts, ensured to instill in you that every rule was followed and respected while training you. You know basic magic casting like you all did do not constitute as spells and even more so using them in self-defense without a muggle within miles further cements your justification in what transpired in that train cabin. Pure wizarding blood going back centuries runs through your veins and you would not stand idly by while everyone else ran and a fellow future wizard was being attacked and screaming for help, you all didn't do the right thing, you did the only a thing a pure blood wizard should do. Stand up and show your power. You came to Hogwarts to grow and prosper, not to wither and hide.

And before you it you catch yourself out of breathe not realizing you had not just thought those things but spoke them.

You spoke up for yourself and your new friends with nothing but the truth and unwavering pride bolstering the conviction in your argument. Maybe a hint of left-over adrenaline helped.

Morgana, Solomon, and Asmodeus stare at you in disbelief.

Professor Rumania's face does not yield however.

The professor then pulls out his wand and closes his eyes to recite and incantation.

"Cogitationes deprehendere" his wand glows and he then lightly place the tip of his wand to the center of your forehead.

After a split second you find yourself replaying every moment of what happened in the train cart like some sort of arcane vision or dream.

Next he recites "Anima quaerere"

Now you feel as though he's peering deep inside your soul, searching for the slightest flaw or flicker in the cold flame brewing in your heart. A flame that you know hasn't ever grown this size. The calm blue flame that normally is there has been replaced by a blue inferno raging with passion. But only for a moment.

"Tranquillitas motus"

You feel your usual demeanor returning.

And Professor Rumania doesn't seem to find what he was looking for.

"What is your name boy"

"Adrian Blackwell." you reply calmy.

"First of all Mr.Blackwell engaging a monster that everyone is running away from is not self-defense, however it is devoid of any reason or logic within my comprehension. You are not a warrior, you are not some almighty being because of your blood, and you certainly are not a wizard. To even slightly infer yourself as one is an direct insult to all of Wizard-kind. You are nothing more than child with an ego the size of mountain, rich to the core with non sensical notion of blood superiority. A delusional, self indulgent tadpole swimming in a pond no bigger than a drop of spit, thinking its the ocean."
>>
>>5582757

"Infantile. Without legs to walk or explore the real world of magic and the dangers it holds, ready to extinguish anyone or anything that does not show it the respect it deserves without a second thought or care."

The professors face grows angrier.

"Had it not been for Thomas coming in and risking his life to save you four bumbling dimwits you would all be dead! Do you understand that?!" He says raising his voice to almost a shout.

All of you are to stunned to speak. Coming from the backgrounds you do none of you have ever been spoken to like this. You all are at a loss for words.

The Professor takes hold the brief moment of silence and looks at all of you individually once again.

He then turns his back to you all and opens the cabin door.

"All of you are dismissed. I will make a report of this incident and present it to the headmaster. He will determine the appropriate punishments for five of you and your lack of judgment and senses in this matter."

Morgana grumbles something under her breathe before getting up and angrily walking out the door.

Solomon looks more annoyed than angry but only for a moment, again prioritizing respect and obedience, as he too gets up and walks out.

Asmodeus looks as though his soul has been sucked from him as he slothfully rises from his seat and sulks his way out.

Phineas's glasses are completely fogged over as his jaw hangs open.

"I'm sorry P-P-Professor but perhaps I misheard you hehe.... um did you say the f-f-five of u-us?"

"You did not mishear me Mr. Prewett." The professor replies in cold tone.

"W-W-Well its just that I Didn't"

The professor cuts him off "You are dismissed Mr. Prewett."

Phineas lets out a small yelp "Yes Sir." before scurrying out of the door.

"You Mr. Blackwell can stay seated." The Professor says as he turns back around to face you.

Yeah right. The guy got a chip on his shoulder.
What's with that projection "ready to extinguish anyone or anything that does not show it the respect it deserves without a second thought or care"?
Someone got his ass kicked by a pureblooded mage in the past for sure. Probably got bullied in school and couldn't recover ever since.

"I meant what I said. You are but a tadpole when it comes to magic. But you have potential. Lots of it. You displayed courage, leadership, and an instinct to grow and display the things you've been taught. All qualities more powerful than any spell, and more rare than any jewel when couple together."

The Professors face hardens a bit. "However that potential is completely useless in the hands of a corpse. Your pride and lack of judgement hinders you from growing into your true potential. Your non sensical beliefs about blood purity and superiority are outdated and outlandish and allow for you to underestimate anyone you deem "inferior" and overestimate your innately "Superior" self."

"To become a great wizard you must face your ignorance and be willing to learn from it and all that you can from the world around you."

The Professor turns back around and begins walking out the door but pauses and continues speaking.

"There's a difference between Pride and Confidence. You have too much of both. Over confidence is a slow and Insidious killer. Excessive pride is a terminal illness that will blind you."

He then turns his head slightly to look back you with half a face and one eye.

"Should you want to rid yourself of said debilitating weaknesses and grow into your potential I would offer to take you under my wing and mentor you. I can temper that potential with the flame burning inside you and forge you into something great. It won't be easy and I will not coddle you nor will I cast kind words towards you. But you will grow."

His eye looks away for a moment distracted by a passing thought before refocusing on you.

"Think about it. Find me when you have an answer."

And with that Professor Rumania leaves the cabin and you are left alone with your thoughts.

>How does Adrian feel about what just happened?

>Feelings about the Professor and his offer

>Write in

All answers will contribute to the vibe check but whichever is voted on most will be the main factor.

Time to see if Adrian holds his convictions (If any. You are eleven so you aren't permanently bound to an opinion or ideal yet) or is easily swayed or maybe even is a bit more mature for his age and is willing incorporate compromises without sacrificing his heritage and status.

Also time to see what Adrian values in Mentors and Authority Figures. The Professor stands as both at the same time in this instance.

Take your time with this one boys and chew on it. After these first couple threads Adrian's Character, morals, ideals, etc will be locked. Traits are still flexible but require time and high rolls to change after his character is locked

Goodluck

>How does Adrian feel about what just happened?
He both angry at the insult, smug about the compliment and confused at the happenings. Also an odd sense of nostalgia

>Feelings about the Professor and his offer
He thinks that the professor is an odd man, that is probably judging us for his own experiences.
He is intrigued by the offer. Mother's training was not lax, and he feels a needs to prove the professor wrong.

>How does Adrian feel about what just happened?
Justified but sees where it could have gone badly
If we failed to stop him there would be a lot more funerals on the first day
We need to be better like mom and dad

>Feelings about the Professor and his offer
Tutoring has never done us wrong before
Surely an older man alone with a young student that he has biases towards will only lead to positive things
Ask mom and dad first

In terms of how much i care about blood purity and status
Muggles are ok but magic is inherently unfair. Pure bloods are just naturally more inclined but not the end all be all

>>How does Adrian feel about what just happened?
Insulted, offended, pissed off. This weirdo that he sees for the first time in his life just shit on his parents and everything they tought him. Then he laso got insulted to his face for the first time in his life. Unlikely to hold any positive emotions over this interaction.
And what's with the mind reading? Is that even legal to view memries of someone without their consent and without a guardian present?

>>Feelings about the Professor and his offer
Intrigued probably. I am sure the offer to get stronger interests him if just a little. Considering who it's coming from though iwould expect him to be conflicted over whether to accept it or not.

It hurts too, because Professor Rumania is right about it too, but Adrian doesn't have the maturity yet to recognize that properly

>>Feelings about the Professor and his offer
I personally like strict teachers, because usually you really know what they are about
getting a personal mentor this early is amazing because almost necessarily we will come to share his network of contacts too, but I don't think an eleven year old should be too worried about networking...
He is the first person we acquired as a contact ourselves, and while seriously taking us down a peg, still recognizes our potential. Not now but we will find him

Unfortunately Incest = Wincest in the Wizarding World but you are correct about it not being the end all be all. The worst lich in recent history that started a world wizarding war wasn't even a pure blood.

Pure bloods also have access to more magical resources, knowledge and training from the get go.
A talented and rich muggle born is going to work harder to achieve the sames results then a untalented and poor pure blood, and not even because of racial superiority.
>>
>>5582854
going to have to work harder to achieve the same starting results
Basically, a muggle has to constantly play catch up.

There's also the whole mentality around magic, I imagine plenty of muggles have trouble wrapping their head around the more nonsensical parts, and end up fumbling spells because of it. At least in the beginning.

In full agreement there.

I mean look at it. We take the first steps out of a rather cold, if not outright lonely, home have a good time with our brother and something happens! We rise to the challenge, just like our parents do, and earn the praise of our newfound friends while it all seems to confirm everything we've been told. Riding high on all that good stuff and this guy barges in, smashes all of that with a proverbial sledgehammer and insults us to boot!
That's unfair, entirely unreasonable! We did a good dammit, we did!

When the Professor leaves you can't help but feel angry and insulted. Who is he to question your judgement? This was your first time meeting him and he just dismantled you piece by piece and insulted you in front of your friends. Worse yet though, you know in the back of your mind that he was right. At least about some things. And that offer he gave you wasn't bad. An opportunity to gain a mentor this early would be extremely beneficial in terms of power, connections, and growth. But at what cost. Is Professor Rumania really someone you want as a mentor. Is what he offers to change about you something you want?

All of these thoughts race through your mind.

After a few moments to yourself the elderly woman from earlier appears in the doorway and tells you that your father would like to speak with you.

You sigh to yourself not knowing what to expect.

You get up from your seat and make your way back to the train cart where the incident happened.

When you enter, the destruction of the hall and cabins is gone. Everything seems to be back to normal. Like magic.

"Adrian." You hear your father call from an Open Cabin.

You make your way down the hall and into the cabin your father is waiting for you in.

On the seat in front you is your father. He has removed his trench coat revealing a white tucked in dress shirt with two holsters fitted at both sides of his ribs. A bandolier he uses for a belt lays on top of the trench coat beside him with each strap holding a different vial, or tube containing some unknown herb or liquid. Potions, Poisons, and Ingredients of all types at the ready.

Your father has also removed his big hunting hat and lets his long black locks breathe. The strong but simple face with sharp features, now exposed as your father pulls off his bandana and tosses it with his other items.

He then looks at you standing in the doorway. His familiar green eyes meet yours and you know you're about to have a long talk.

"Sit"

Still recovering from the whole professor ordeal you let out an annoyed sigh and sit down reluctantly. You feel yourself cringe as you know what's coming. Someone else is about to shame you for doing what you did.

You feel angry not understanding why they can't be proud of you for accomplishing what you did. Everyone else ran and you stood up and did something. You did good.

Your train of thought is broken though when your father snaps you back to reality.

"Adrian look at me when I'm talking to you." he says with a stern tone.

You refocus and look to you your father. Ready for another verbal assault.

Your father wears a face of disappointment.

"You could have been killed today. And for what? " He leans forward. "I almost lost a son today for what Adrian?"

You don't respond.

Your father sighs.

He then taps your temple "You need to start using this. I need you to start THINKING about what you do before you do it. Do you understand me? I expect more from you Adrian."

As far as I can tell I would think this man is crazy. It’s 1895, ant least 100 years too early for newfangled wizard diversity hogwash, aren’t pure bloods universally agreed among wizards to be the most powerful? He seems like a radical with a chip on his shoulder and nothing to really back it up so far in comparison to mom and dad who we know are both certified badasses and taught us that’s partially because of their pure blood. While we don’t hate muggle born wizards, the idea that they are on par with us is directly contradictory to what we have learned for our entire life so far and have all evidence we know currently supports that belief. Saying pure bloods aren’t more powerful by nature seems like a direct insult to our parents and family.

As for his offer, we might take it in the long run just to prove due to pride or straight up ignore it since right now he’s coming off as a whack job who thinks he’s hot shit for being better at magic than literal children as a grown ass adult. This dude screams inferiority complex, the question is should we dismiss him because of it or attempt to grind it in?
>>
>>5583328
Or he is a teacher whose job it is to keep his students alive, and a big part of that is not biting off more then you can chew...
But I love that we're actually coming across as a child. Someone who did something incredibly stupid and risky and genuinely does not understand why he shouldn't have tried to fight a ghoul monster.
>>
>>5583310
He taps your temple again.

"Because this. Is going to save you more times than that ever will." He points to your wand.

He then grabs his bandolier "Why do you think I carry all of this around? I have a wand, I know spells that can do things you can't even imagine. So why do I carry this around if I have magic that can do things beyond imagination?"

You stay silent

"Because knowledge is power. This." He taps his temple "Will always beat magic."

He reaches over and grabs a book from the inner pocket of his trench coat and holds it front of you.

It's his old bestiary. The one you used to read when you were younger.

He points to the book. "This. Is just as important as your wand." He hands you the book "Knowledge is power Adrian. Don't ever forget that. Don't lose sight of the real world while learning about its magical side. Both are important. Everything has history. Everything has weaknesses. And Everything has Secrets. If you want to be powerful then start using that head of yours and don't just learn spells or how to cast them better. Learn from the world and start using that knowledge to become stronger. That book is yours now. Take care of it. Let it be the first of the many other books you collect on your path to becoming stronger."

>Fathers Bestiary added

You look down at the book in your hand and idly flip it open. Pages full of magical moving pictures of beast and monsters fill the pages. Each with a plethora of knowledge written with everything you would want to know.

"I had meant to give that to you earlier, you know."

"Earlier today or earlier like before?"

"Both."

When you hear your father say that something clicks in your head. When you look at him you see a tired man. A man with regrets. A prideful man that has accomplished so much in his life is trying to pull off a mask that he's been wearing for a long time.

He sighs.

"I know your mother and I aren't always there. We wanted to but we had other responsibilities that took up that time that was meant for the both of you. But we always made sure you and your brother had everything you wanted and needed to be successful."

He takes another deep breathe

"But we also know that, that wasn't enough and we regret it."

He puts his hand on your shoulder and looks you in the eye.

"I know what its like to feel like you don't have parents when you do, its just that they aren't around. Your grandparents made me feel the same way. An empty mansion with nothing but useless bits of Opulence to display faux power and prestige from a family fallen out of grace. For three generations. For almost a century The Blackwell name was attached to disasters, degenerates, and disgraces. A name up with the top wizarding families in the world fell down into the mud for nearly 100 years."

Your attention is full. You've never heard anything like this about your family. You had thought your family had always been prosperous and among the most powerful families. Apparently not.
>>
>>5583340
>"Someone put that thing on the train, right? Is that why you were even on board?"
>>
>>5583340

"Your grandparents were Dark wizards and witches with gambling addictions. They nearly lost every galleon, artifact, heirloom, and other pieces of our family's history with their addiction and stained whatever was left with the shame and disgrace of practicing the dark arts for petty crimes and evils."

Your fathers eyes intensify.

"Your mother and I worked our asses off and out this family's name on our back and crawled our way out of the mud and the cesspool of failure it was stuck in. We alone brought the Blackwell name, this family, into a new renaissance. This Golden Age we live now is because of your mother and I's blood sweat and sacrifices. Your aunts and uncles. Gone. Disowned and disinherited. Purged from the pages of the official pure blood family tome."

You are too stunned to speak. You didn't even know you had aunts and uncles. At the very least if you did you were to young to ever remember them. Your parents never spoke about them and you never had reason to expect or ask different.

"They didn't deserve to bear the name Blackwell. And they will never. Because they didn't earn it. Leeches on the fat of our success. The black century of our family is over. No more. Not again. We are the last remaining Blackwells."

The look in your fathers eyes tell you that he is dead serious when says this. He cut out his brothers and sister and stripped them of there name. You've never known your father to be this ruthless. This cutthroat. A level of cunning you slightly fear.

"You are not great because you are a Blackwell. You get to become a Blackwell because you're great. Never the other way around. Its a lesson that the others never learned."

Your father leans back and relaxes a bit. His wound wrapped and bandaged from a first aid kit under the seat. Blood begins to seep through.

"Your brother is having a hard time learning that lesson."

Your heart sinks to your stomach.

"Being Great takes sacrifice. Being a Blackwell takes even more. I'm sure you've met that filthy little mudblood he's been dragging around."

Serena. You think to yourself. You dare not name her in front of him.

"Do not speak to her. Do not look at her. She does not exist to you after today. Do you understand me?" Your father speaks like a snake with ice for blood.

"Your mother and I didn't rebuild this dynasty from the mud and sacrifice as much as we did just to have it destroyed by having its main heir marrying down and diluting the purity of our ancient bloodline two children think there feelings of teen romance is more important than the survial of their family!"

Your father takes a moment to calm himself. He runs a hand over his face and through the his hair in an attempt to wipe away the problems and stresses that have been thrown at him lately.

After his moment he refocuses back on you.

"Or by having its second heir die like an idiot because he didn't use his head." he offers a small smile as he jokes in attempt to lighten things back up.
>>
>>5583357
Well, it looks like both our parents are super fucking intense.
Seems we have a lot to live up to.
>>
>>5583357
"Your mother and I were too hands off with both of you and we recognize out fault in that. But that's going to change. You are about to attend Hogwarts. That mean you will represent the Blackwell name. Do not tarnish your reputation or this family's like your brother is doing."

You don't know what to say. You're overwhelmed with so many emotions. The ways he's talking about your brother...

"I know its not fair to put that you but that's the world we live in Adrian. Because if your brother doesn't start making those sacrifices to be great and start proving himself worthy of inheriting the name Blackwell. Then you will be the only one to do so." He says this not with malice or contempt for your brother. You can hear the pain in his voice when speaking about him. He doesn't want to but also won't hesitate when it comes time. The Blackwell Dynasty must continue.

"I know you're still a kid that wants to go to Hogwarts and make friends and learn spells and that all fine. I hope you get to experience all of that. But you need to understand that your mother and I expect you to be great. We expect you to earn your name. You are our son. We know what you're capable of and want more. Push yourself Adrian. Being good isn't good enough. Take pride in who you are and what family you come from. You are going to become great. I believe in you. Your mother believes in you. And you need to believe in you."

Your father pulls you in for a hug. You haven't been hugged by your father since you were a toddler. A tear rolls out of your eye down your cheek.

"No more stupid stunts like today. Only great stunts that you know will succeed." he laughs and releases you.

"Keep your head up and represent this family well. I'm sorry for being hard on you like that and dumping all of this on you so suddenly but I know you're strong and you can handle it. You're my son. You've got this."

He gives you one last hug before getting up from his seat and starts to collect his things.

"Good work on your form by the way. Your mother is going to be proud when I tell her. Try and work on making your father prouder by using that head of yours. And keep up with that book. I'm going to quiz you next time I see you." He says with a playful smile. But you know in the back of your mind he isn't kidding about quizzing you.

As your father begins to take off you ask him a question before he leaves.

"Someone put that thing on the train, right? Is that why you were even on board?"

Your father turns around and looks pleased that you are asking.

"That's what we think but we don't fully know yet. I didn't know what I was looking for initially. Legs of a cockatrice, arms of a trolls, lizardman skin covering its body. Looks like a strigoi torso and head. Probably covered in the lizardman skin to allow it to move in the sun. But its been starved. For a long time. And stitched together like this. I'm going to report back to the guild and bring this abomination in for investigation."

Based pure-blooded Father trying to keep untermensch hoes away from his children.
Here's a free advice for you Papa. If you want to keep your bloodline pure you gotta do some of that betrothing and do that before your child goes to school.
Because you see Dad teenagers are horny and disrespectful creatures. They don't give a fuck what their parents want. So by finding a suitable future marriage partner for your child and them grooming them to like each other before he starts flipping skirts is the only way to increase your chances of successfully protecting his family genes from thirsty mudblood broads that are going to surround him 24/7 in Hogwarts where he's out of your grasp.

After your father says this the book he gave you begins glow and then floats out of your hand.

The book opens itself up and flips its pages at great speed. You hear your fathers words play back about the creature as the pages keep turning. After a few moment the book stops and then falls back into your hands.

You open the book and find a new page at the end. The book sketched a moving picture of the creature and wrote the notes your father just gave you into the pages.

You stare at the book in awe.

Your father puts his hand on your head and laughs.

"Alright I've got to get going." he says as he makes his way to the emergency exit door he blew off before and opens the repaired version normally. The train still speeding along. He whistles loudly and a broom appears a few moments later speeding just fast enough to hover near the door.

Your father turns around and gives you one final goodbye hug.

"Goodbye my son. Take care and Make us proud."

and with that your father hops on his broom and flies away.

You spend the rest of the train ride alone thinking about everything that happened today. Too much. Far too for a normal 11 year old.

You don't know how much time passes but enough for you to fall asleep in an empty cabin with your thoughts.

>Later

You are awakened by the brakes of the Hogwarts express and the blaring of its horn. You sleepily rise from your seat and look outside.

That when you see it. Hogwarts castle in all its glory sitting across The Black Lake waiting for you. You finally made it.

A knock rings out behind you against the door to your cabin. You turn around and go to the door. You open it to find

We are 11. We know pure bloods are better because mom and dad said so and so far have proved it. Kids reflect their parents at that age, especially since we really don’t have any outside influences yet. When his mud blood peers start outperforming him/other pure bloods then maybe Adrian can question if they are his equals, but for now, we have seen them have no clue what’s going on, get captured by a monster, and try to puff themselves up for being more powerful than a child as a grown adult. If we want to stay in character, seeing them as equals so far is just kind of silly. From our perspective we are clearly their betters. Where we go from here should be developed by future events and our reactions to them. Forcing nonsensical ideals or “development” on a character due to our own personal views is cheap from a characterization standpoint and robs the fun of quests/literature/fiction in general.
>>
>>5583497
Who you are and what flows through your veins are one and the same.

Playing a Pureblood who believes in Pureblood politics does not by any stretch of the imagination require playing an asshole, and its extremely unimaginative to think that it does.

"Tis ours, the dignity they give to grace
The first in valour, as the first in place;
That when with wondering eyes our confidential bands
Behold our deeds transcending our commands,
Such, they may cry, deserve the sovereign state,
Whom those that envy dare not imitate!"

This is cold. I can totally see the reason, and I even agree with it: Of course we want both our parents and our brother to be happy. We're 11 and so that compromise makes a great deal of sense. But man is there some serious ruthlessness going on behind the scenes. Even if I doubt Adrian understands what his brothers banishment will actually entail.

What the bugger are you lot on about? Adrian so far has been condescending, yes, but seems to have a sense of duty tied to that idea of superiority. We, an eleven year old child, decided to stand up to a nightmare fuel of a monster because we see us as everyone else's better: It was an obligation to do so. Otherwise we wouldn't be their better.

That is true, Adrian has yet to see proof that muggles can be as capable as pure bloods.
And anyways, we don't hate muggles, we only have a sense of superiority over them. So even if we keep on this path, we wouldn't become the standard purity obsessed asshole.
Rumania or father's speech were colored by their own perception of things.
So let's continue playing, and see how things settle as they come, since QM said that Adrian's personality will be locked only after the first couple of threads, we still have time for the events and lessons to shape it.

Or Teresa to know what happened on the cart while we were away.

Damien for the boat ride
Teresa for the Sorting Ceremony

I'm voting Teresa for that reason, also because she wasn't a part of our circle of 5 and I feel sorry for her being left out (even if it was her choice not to join us attacking the beast).

Seems like a fun quest, the pure blood debate is interesting, I think there's a middle ground where we can aspire to be better because of our blood without necessarily being a cunt about it.
I do hope there are enough pure blood girls in our year that we won't feel limited when we eventually have to decide on a love interest.

>>5583599
>seems to have a sense of duty tied to that idea of superiority. We, an eleven year old child, decided to stand up to a nightmare fuel of a monster because we see us as everyone else's better: It was an obligation to do so. Otherwise we wouldn't be their better.

I can agree to this, it lines up with what father was saying, since we have the prestige, we have to rise to it. hold ourselves to a hire standard. pure bloods aren't just better by default. I think someone said it earlier, but if we just believe pure bloods are better flat out, we'll end up underestimating anyone who isn't, and that's a sure way to get our chit kicked in by a rival down the line.

>>
>>5583656
I mean, I get what you're saying but isn't kind of the point that there are relatively few purebloods around?
Besides I don't think we have to worry about that for a good, long, while. This quest has the potential to go long, and I hope it does.
>>
>>5583683
I think there are a lot of purebloods on technicality but honorable great house purebloods are relatively few
How much can blood be diluted before you lose pure blood trait?
Do halfblood or quarter blood families still produce magical children?
If you are 63/64 pure blooded and 1/64 muggle blooded, what would you be classified as?
Is there a muggle 1 drop rule?
>>
>>5583692
I would guess that "pure" means just that. Pure.
No muggle blood at all, ever. Which is why father is so very upset with Damian, since that is 50% of the remaining Blackwell legacy tainted forever.
Which is why the people who care about such things make such a deal out of it: It takes effort to maintain and so very, very, easy to ruin.
>>
>>5583599
>there some serious ruthlessness going on behind the scenes
Well Adrian may be 11 but we aren't. This opportunity for intrigue is just too good to pass up.
I am not going to push for anything out of character but it's definitely in character to support his brother.
Now whether he is going to be a cold manipulator about it or just a child unable to choose between his brother and his parents or something inbetween is up to the QM.

For the Damian talk what do you guys want to talk to him about? (Damian doesn't know you talked to father or has been told any of what you have, no family history, no pending disinheritance, etc)

>Dump the info your father told you on him?
>Keep your mouth shut but try to subtly pull him and serana apart?
>Keep your mouth shut and just try to enjoy his company while staying out it until father talks to him?
>Ask Damian for his side but don't tell him you talked to father?
>Ask Damian for his side and warn him about father?
>Write-in

Sorting ceremony and first week of classes will be in the next thread, I'll finish this one with the Damian talk

Thanks for playing guys and I'm excited to continue next week. First quest went fucking great compared to what I thought it would be. Any suggestions or improvement lemme know. Based debates/chat going on, really helps me with writing and expanding character depth.

>Ask Damian for his side and warn him about father?

Feels like he should definitely know what's going on. I don't think an 11 year old would keep these kind of things secret from his big brother.

BTW, are we all thinking Slytherin for sure to keep the family tradition or should there be a little upset to the status quo? We could pull a Sirius Black and go to a different house.

Given the way Adrian has been so far, we are either Slytherin or Gryffindor.
Maybe Hufflepuff if you consider being family-oriented as loyal to friends, and training with mother as working hard, but it would be a reach.
>>
>>5585040
>are we all thinking Slytherin for sure
Absolutely. All of our new friends are going to Slytherin, our whole family is in Slytherin, all best people for us to know are going to be in Slytherin.

I want to be ravenclaw
I am most invested in learning lots of spells and magical creatures
There are purebloods in the other houses so I don't think its a huge issue

>Ask Damian for his side and warn him about father?
We will become heir, and Damian will thank us for it.
>>
>>5585031
>Ask Damian for his side and warn him about father?
I think we probably disapprove of his choice in partner but respect him enough to just openly ask him for his side of things.

Also I think our dad would approve of us going ravenclaw given "knowledge is power"

>House
Obv Slytherin

Most of our pure blood gang are going there I’d wager
>>
For house, i could see either Slytherin, or maybe Gryffindor. I havent seen much of the clever side of the MC come out to justify Ravenclaw, and no one wants to end up in Hufflepuff.

Slytherin sounds more fun, but being a Gryffindor with a group of friends in Slytherin sounds like it would be hilarious and we'd also know more about what's going on in both common rooms. Rumors, social standings, general gossip would be coming at us from our friends and also what we gather from our own house mates. It might be worth considering.
>>
>>5585031
>Ask Damian for his side and warn him about father?
We're such a Slytherin it isn't even real. The ONLY plausible other choice is Gryffindor. I don't want that for obvious reasons.
>>
>>5585031
Only thing id say about reccomendations and such is no not feel the need to follow game logic (friendship quests etc) if you don't want to, and to enjoy yourself. This isn't a job so don't make it into one.

>Ask Damian for his side and warn him about father?
We are eleven and don't want our father and brother to hate each or fight. Seems reasonable enough

>Ask Damian for his side and warn him about father?
daddy dearest already erradicated every member from the family tree he didn't deem worthy

>become hatstall (sorting hat taking more than 5 minutes, because traits align with more than one group)
I'd love to see a "neither Slytherin nor Gryffindor" and honestly would vote Ravenclaw
I think the scales are a little unfavorably in this vote as I think people here might rather vote on the binary of "Slytherin vs. Not-Slytherin" than a first past the post vote on all four possibilities where Slytherin would obviously win.
But as it stands now I vote Gryffindor because it has the best chance of winning the vote against Slytherin
>Gryffindor
>>
>>5585625
"Erradicated" did he? because my little conspiracy theory is that one of our relatives are responsible for that abomination on the train.
Think about it: Dark wizards, but not necessarily overly competent ones with a serious axe to grind with his "legacy" and the knowledge that if his children die they get what's left of the inheritance. I'm just saying: It adds up worryingly well.

As for Gryffindor may I ask why? What about Adrian makes you feel like ravenclaw/gryffindor is a good fit? I'd much prefer a discussion to people just throwing votes around so please.
>>
>>5585627
>erradicated
wrong word. just that they aren't on the tree anymore and maybe not allowed to call themselves Blackwell anymore? I didn't mean to imply he killed them all.

>why house
I'm voting fot the thing that has the best chance to win against the thing I don't like. You know, like american politics.
I voted Gryffindor, but I would want Ravenclaw
Ravenclaw and Slytherin have overlapping traits for ambition and competetiveness, which is a trait also most of /qst/ protagonists have.
Of the traits we displayed so far the best fit is Gryffindor
"Bravery" as the gained trait, but coupled with the cocky attitude and reckless to storm into situations before thinking too much about it.
But brave is also a trait of Hufflepuffs

"Prideful" applies to Gryffindor and Slytherin all the same
"Observant" is a clearer Ravenclaw trait
and "Family Oriented" is Hufflepuff
"Respected" and "Leader" I wouldn't put in any house. Leader maybe to Hufflepuff as well as they ascribe to loyalty and strong work ethics

Nobody here defended Slytherin besides "it's what the people whom we had one conversation with go to"
we didn't display cunning or tenacity for self preservation.

But we are still in character creation, anything that we haven't displayed yet can be backstoried
>>
>>5585647
Fair enough, I do suppose. Now I'm no expert on the pottery nonsense so I did a bit of reading to make sure I wasn't entirely wrong.
Gryffindor is for people who are brave, bravehearted and chivalrous (ideally), Ravenclaw seems to be all about knowledge and wits and being insufferably smug about it.

Slytherin have the traits of ambition, cunning, leadership (!?), resourcefulness... And being insufferably smug about it.
So yea, we do fit with Slytherin and Gryffindor but I'd argue the point that the bravery doesn't work. We didn't look at the situation and go "On noes! The hideous monster have captured a poor girl, we must save her!" and instead went on a rant against the professor about basically egoism. We didn't act bravely because we are an upstanding knight in shining armour... It doesn't fit as well with the lions ideals. If anything it subverts those values entirely: The right thing for the wrong reasons.

Furthermore, iirc, Gryffindor and Slytherin don't like each other. Our parents would probably disapprove.... A lot. And It's not really "people we had a conversation with" but rather "people we just swore friendship and support to" so it does carry a wee bit more weight then you suggest.
I'd say we fit Gryffindor on a surface level, but no further, Ravenclaw not much at all since we seem to prefer acting to thinking things through and Slytherin because while we do the right things, it is for the wrong reasons. For ourselves, for us being "better" Just look at the debate about people wanting to let Damian and Serena be happily ever after, because in part that benefits us. Everyone wins... Ish.
And in this case "Family" means living up to their expectations. They are *Not* expecting gryffindor.
>>
apparently aberforth dumbledore starts hogwarts this year (1895)
albus started in 1892
was aberfoth in gryffindor like albus?
>>
>>5585666
This actually has convinced me to go Slytherin. I was on the fence between Gryffindor and Slytherin for those reasons you were arguing against, and year i gotta admit we did do Gryffindor-like things for very Slytherin reasons. Hell, i even argued Gryffindor would be cool because we could get more dirt and connections that way, which is how a Slytherin might see things.

I'd like it if the hat was at least conflicted for a while, though.

>>5585674
I couldn't find anything that flat out said which house, but i did find a few things to suggest he could have been Slytherin.

>He is a morally ambiguous character who hobnobs with the dodgy clientele of his pub, the Hog's Head, and indulges in illegal activities himself (from half-blood prince)

>Unlike Albus, Aberforth preferred to solve his differences by duelling, rather than dialogue. (Deathly hallows)

>Aberforth was rather willing to use underhanded tactics against his foes, as he suggested to Harry to hold Slytherin students hostage against their parents who also served as Death Eaters. (Deathly hallows)

That, combined with the fact he he felt like he had to break out from his brother's shadow makes for very good chances he could have been in Slytherin.
>>
