The puzzle pieces are in front of you.
It's not a hard riddle but it still requires you to work on it.
You came to this town looking for the creature they were summoning to kill it and complete a contract for someone you barely knew.
Good pay if you manage to find it

You had set up your camp in the main square a few hours ago.
You had wandered around the place trying to find someone and found only ruins,
a ghost town created a few days ago, you estimated.
Emilia, who had taken the liberty of looting some houses,
Informed you that there was no one inside, and nothing of value.
Only houses that they were already collapsing due to their age and lack of maintenance.
Ihlist and Ghal had gone a little further in their exploration,
going to the fields and finding that some of the domestic animals were still in the area.
And the Church, the only building that would have been remarkable in this lost town, was a heap of stones.
The destruction of the town seemed to have spread from that place, and as such, it was the one that had suffered it the most.

You knew more or less what you were looking for, yet there was no clear indication of where it was.
It had to be hidden in the woods, but without a clear direction to follow you would need to get lucky.

You looked at the blue sky that carried the many clouds the signal autumns coming, beams of light break through them, giving a gloomy feeling to this place.
The humid air brought a cold that seeped into your bones.
The only thing you can do is take a walk and take inventory of the facts you know.
1- This was a backwater village struggling to survive.
2- Metis had given them a fake summoning circle. The why is unclear.
3- They had tried to summon a human, such as yourself, and brought something that destroyed this town. Their reasons for doing it are also unclear.
4- It was something from planet Earth, and it had left alone the farm animals

You could ask the question of where is everyone or where did they summon the creature, but that did not matter to you or Ihlist , your employer.
You needed to know in which direction it had fled.
The rain had erased almost all the tracks that you could have followed.
You needed luck or a way to track the creature.
Perhaps a tool like the one used by inquisitors, another limiting factor in this hunt.
Would any show up?

While you were considering all these ideas, your walk took you to the riverbank.
It wasn't very deep and the buildings from when they panned for gold were sinking into its mud.
The murky waters moved slowly, dragging bits of shore with them as they passed.
You wondered why the town hadn't already submerged, if there was such a high degree of erosion.
Another weird thing about this place.
You sighed, thinking how you were going to do this, how you were going to find the creature.

Where are you going to look for evidence?

>>The ruined church
If you wanted to answer the questions of what had caused this, the best place to investigate would be what was clearly the source of what had happened here.
The church was probably chosen as the basin of the catastrophe because of its thick walls and the belief that the house of God would never fall.

You crossed a bridge that dipped into the mud to find a pile of rocks vaguely brick-shaped.
There were no walls left and several birds, acting as scavengers, jumped among the rubble, searching their crevices.
They looked like crows, if a little distorted.
They gave you a few furtive glances, but they did not stop their search for your presence.
You decided to act like them and started scouring the terrain for clues of some kind.

It was impossible for nothing to remain.
Although it really seemed that the rain and the collapse of the building had erased all traces of what happened here.
Only held here was a smell that you couldn't identify and what you thought were gargoyles in pieces.
Gargoyles only in function, they were sculptures of humans dressed in robes.
It made you wonder what the building would have looked like when it was still standing.

>1º [ Roll 17 + 6 +3 (Rascal) DC 10 : Note]
You were wondering if there really was something here when you saw movement of something that wasn't a bird.
A piece of white cloth caught between two rocks.
The pile of stones was not very high, but it did not look like a product of the collapse.
It had been put here after the building fell down.
There was no doubt about it, someone had prepared this.

You approached, expecting a grave.
At the foot of a pile of stones, a small wooden box.
You didn't really think about your next actions, you just opened it up and took out folded paper.
It was the only thing in it.
Opening it you discovered that it was a note.
Waiting for answers you began to read under the gaze of the almost crows
>>
"Dear reader

If you are reading this, a demon has destroyed this town.
I'm not sure where he is but I can assure you it's the same one who was described as assassinating that mayor.
He came here a few days ago, he was dressed as an elf.
Before we knew it, he sacrificed a lot of people to summon more demons.
They had a lot of demon tech but they were not accompanied by chimeras.
I survived by hiding in the forest and now I will flee north.
Please find the demons and kill them.
All Mother, please hear our prayers.

-John

Ps: I drew the demon behind, in case it helps. "

You turned the paper over and there was a drawing, its quality left to be desired.
You pushed those thoughts away and focused on the madness the note told.
That was not what had happened, it was not possible.
This was... Metis instigating the inquisition's paranoia.
How many of these notes had he made?
How many have been found?
How many inquisitors are roaming the area?
How long will it take for them to track you down with their magical gadgets like the one Salazar showed you?

This was a problem and you began to consider giving up this hunt.

>2nd [Roll 18 +6 +3 (Rascal) DC 15 : People]
This was worrying you more than you expected.
You knew that several villages had been destroyed, so Metis would have left similar notes in different places.
A storm of terrible possibilities and wicked futures clouds your judgement.
You stayed stuck in this state of mind until one of the birds fell to the ground near you.

You turned your head just in time to see it take flight and attack another.
They were fighting over something they had pulled out of cracks in the rubble.
You found the scene entertaining, it relaxed you a bit and you paid a little more attention to them.
And so you noticed, that it was a finger what they were fighting over.
It was wrinkled and had a gold ring on it, and one of the birds quickly swallowed it.
before its opponent could steal its lunch.
And with a bit of horror, you paid attention to the other scavengers.
Shreds of meat in their beaks, they plunged their heads between stones to devour what was left of the villagers.
The unknown smell finally identified as meat beginning to rot.

After emptying the contents of your stomach, you continued to observe, sometimes moving stones to better see what was left of these people.
The bodies couldn't tell you much other than what you already knew.
They were poor and old, elves nearing death.
The only real discovery, that their death was accidental.
What came out of the portal didn't try to eat them.
So you deduced that the destruction of this town was due to the panic that this caused the animal.
>>
>3º [Roll 15 + 8 +3(Animal empathy) DC20 : Specific direction]
With the idea that the animal had fled through the town, you drew a map in your head.
Observing the demolished buildings and those that were still standing, you traced their route.
It wasn't perfect, but you found a trail.

At first you had dismissed them as random puddles of water.
Now you saw the pattern, and they painted a picture of a gigantic creature.
The prints are as big as your forearm, somewhat round and very deep.
This gave you a clearer idea of the type of animal, and now you had the certainty of where it had fled.
It only remained to kill it to complete your contract.
Although, you weren't quite sure how to do it.
You had time to plan, luckily.

The group climbed into the truck, and you followed the trail before more rain washed it out completely.
You would decide what to do once the risk of not being able to do anything disappeared.

[While traveling to the animal's location, choose an interaction for the journey.]

>Ghal and Geth (existential crisis)

Ghal was frustrated at the situation in which he was trapped.
For another creature thirsty for knowledge harassed him in search of understanding.
The metallic fairy had discovered that his body was a creation of humanity.
Ghal had no confirmation of how the creature had obtained that secret, but he was betting on Flora.
And sadly he couldn't send his annoyance away like he did with her.
In his last attempt to ward off the vermin, he had locked himself in the truck's freezer.

"Cloak is no grace in thee. Answer have not supplied to the riddle."
"Go away you hack, there is no answer."
The metallic irritation crawled out of one of the vents.
Ghal had learned that the creature had taken a liking to inhabiting the walls of the cold room, but he hoped that the iron bars would prevent its entry.
Geth had already taken care of that, having filed them down enough to make way for him.

"Always expected, looming over you.
I carry primal fears that cannot be ignored.
And in the end, I will flood your mind.
What am I?”

"I did not consent to participate in this game! Leave, pest."
Ghal said, angry to be forced to entertain the critter and fearful of what could happen if he answered incorrectly.
"A body without freedom cannot sanction, participation is imposed.” The pixie answered without changing its monotone or abrasive voice.

“I’m free, I can choose where I’m and what I will do. Now go away.”
Ghal dismissed the creature instinctively, his words left his mouth before he had though the through.

“Thee call the human a Master when not in sight, thee cannot see a fate without the gent and barks at who can.
Bid of a path alone thee might take? Serfdom breed in though, slightly above a hound.”

There was only a small tone of mockery in the machines voice, for it believed everything it had said.
Ghal was shocked by that, and began walking towards the creature perched on the wall like a cockroach.
And when he got near enough to have thoughts of striking it down, an epiphany.
“Why am I doing this?”

The only answer he got was “hatred”.
Not good enough, was his response.
He did not want to be taken down to its level, he would not fall.
He breathed out, trying to recompose himself.
“Don’t play into its game, its taunting you.” He repeated to himself.
“I’m free, I can do as I want. I will ask Master to get rid of this vermin later.”
The Master, he had freed him from the old Masters
The old Masters, the Humans , the ...
“Why can’t I insult them?”
a sorrow began to creep up his voice, he fears that the metallic abomination has a point.

“Blossom in doubt, insight is upon us. Revelation in Introversion.” Geth cheered for him, knowing this would be interesting.

The sparse woodlands in the area were almost unsuitable to be called a forest.
Trees scattered with a lot of space between them, something that would have helped any other hunt.
But in this case it was a nuisance, the creature's trail was so large that it blended in with naturally formed puddles and broken brush to track was almost non-existent.
On the plus side, your prey was a gigantic creature.
And either by luck or skill, you managed to find it.

It was a gigantic reptile from an extinct era.
A long-necked dinosaur ripping apart a small trees to eat them.
Fat but sickly looking, the animal chewed loudly.
You could hear the wood snapping on its molars..
You did not remember the name of the dinosaur in front of you, but you were sure that you had seen in books and movies since you were a child.
The herbivore was something different from what you expected tho, many of the scales had thorns.
But you were thankful the creature was peaceful at this moment
Its small black eyes watched your group, making sure you didn’t get too close.

It was a beautiful creature, but a notable corruption spread across his back.
It's something you've seen before, when Gaia possessed the Chimera Butcher.
in this case, it hadn't spread that far and it didn't seem like she was in control either.

After a few seconds appreciating what you had in front of you, you remembered what you were here for.
Ihlist also made it known, but it was more about the confusion about the lack of demons.
“Anon, I thought we were tracking what emerged from the village. While it looks odd, it’s not a demon.”
“Its what got summoned at the village. No demons.”
Your quick response caught her by surprise.
“Oh. How do you plan to kill it? This thing will still get me enough fame to get included in the family tree again.”
She must still be in awe at the creature, because she was not rude to you.

And she had made the correct question, how are you supposed to kill it? [Roll 2d20 Bo3]
>Simple, you won’t do it (How do you tell Ihlist?)
>Cast some spells (Which ones) then attack it (With who?)

>TRAP
[Immobilization with grease spell and ropes + spikes with Rending spell + attack to neck with Rending spell.]

The creature in front of you is gigantic, as big as a house.
So you come to the conclusion that if you're going to kill it, you have one chance before it gets ugly.
So a trap is the most reasonable option.

[Animal empathy skill + Insight = autopass; Trap prepared.]

You've never interacted with a dinosaur, but you understand how animals think well than most people.
This is a prey animal, but its large size prevents it from seeing you as a threat.
So, with slow movements you are able to get reasonably close to prepare a trap.

[ 11 aberrance used in spells (Greater grease)&(Vicious weapon)*2]
[Aberrance batteries Empty, Potato on 3 Aberrance]

With magical assistance from Potato and Flora, you create a thin layer of oily liquid that covers the obvious exit from the clearing.
Hildra and Rakta prepare the second part, felling some trees and transforming them into gigantic stakes.
They place this barricade at the edge of the oily "lake" so that if the creature were to slip, it would be impaled.
You also took care of enchanting those giant stakes and your polearm with spells to rend the flesh.
One more layer to make sure the animal died quickly.

This, however, only lasted 10 minutes.
With no time to lose, you executed the plan.
A loud sound behind the creature to scare it away, and it began to flee.
Its speed and great mass gave it enough inertia for it to lose control of its direction once on the grease.
You heard the dinosaur make a deep wail in panic as it tried to regain command over its path.
Its head trying to turn its body, the weight rotating out of position so much that it fell to on the side with a loud crash.
And it kept advancing thanks to the oil for a few seconds until it was stopped by the stakes.
Splitting scales and ribs, they sank into the abdomen.
A piercing shriek of pain echoed through the forest.
And Flora tried to pin down the animal with roots animated by magic.

[You have 1/6 HP]

All the air rushed out of your lungs, followed by a lot of blood.
You were about to hit the dinosaur's neck.
But it turned around, you saw a flash of the huge tail and then light.
Before your thoughts came together or the adrenaline let you feel the sharp pain of broken ribs, you hit the ground.
You still had quite a bit of speed, even in this heavy armor.
The world moved very fast, making you dizzy, but you hold on to consciousness.
You retained your senses to see the rest of your companions having paused their attack to see you fall, worried that you got killed.
And the cretaceous monstrosity, went mad with pain, destroying the forest around it.
The rage and agony making it do even more vicious attacks.

neat map.
The plan is completely valid.
I'm not sure how you want to maximize damage so I'll give you the stats of the NPCs.
If two or more NPCs attack at the same time, you can add the bonus of 1 to the attack of another,
but there will only be 1 attack (if they miss, the damage received is spread among all of them.)
Or let each one attack individually and be combat one on one. (If they miss they take the whole hit.)

It has more advantages than disadvantages to group up but it means that you do much less damage.

All NPC stats that i have.

You were staying on your feet with some difficulty, but you gave your teammates a thumbs up in the distance to continue with the plan you had created.

You had left Flora exhausted from casting protection spells on your teammates, but they attacked following Rakta.
Before they got too close, you decided to use some fire arrows to block exits.
Your secondary objective, damage the dinosaur a little more.
With a few well positioned the medium puddle of oil burned.
The creature managed to move away but its rage turned into absolute panic.
With wails of terror and his little eyes wide open he began to run.
The flames were not very high but they spread quickly, giving the animal the impression that it was surrounded.

[Roll 20 + 8 DC: How do I do this? Result: Success becouse nat 20 And i dont want to deal with this]
[1d4 damage - 2 (Creataceous Vigor) = 2]

Your arrows hit without any problem, the animal too scared to notice the pain.
Or the fact that he was charging at Rakta and the group.

[Roll 16 + 9(Rakta) + 6(hildra) +3 (Ghal) + 3(Emilia)= 37 ; DC: 17 + 15 = 32 ; Result: 5 pure damage - 2 (Creataceous Vigor)= 3]

The four of them managed to block the animal's path for a few seconds.
Hildra struck at his knee and the beast fell back to the ground.
Ignoring the pain it kept trying to move, frantically waving its tail to keep you away.
But it didn't work, a coordinated diversion from Ghal and Emilia was enough for Rakta to get close enough.
He received a deep cut on his neck.
From where you were you were able to see a bit of bone from the vertebrae.

The group moved away a bit, waiting for the death throes of a cornered animal.
The dinosaur got up, and began to run.
These attacks had caused him much pain, but the terror of the fire prompted him to flee.
Much faster than you would have expected from an animal of that size.
You stood there waiting for it to bleed out and fall to the ground dead.
But it didn't, the risk of you losing it became very real.

FUCK!

You were all exhausted and almost out of magic, and the dinosaur is running at full speed!

You all got on the truck and quickly started following the animal.
You were a little sad that you couldn't kill him with one blow.
It was in pain and refused to accept that you had to kill him.
It was a tough creature that had given you more trouble than many other opponents.
Honestly, you were considering using bullets since you didn't know how much fight it still had in its body.
And now, driving down muddy dirt roads, you wondered if it was really worth it.
What if you were able to capture this majestic creature?
What if you could live every child's fantasy?

[Roll: 18 + 6 (Instinct); AD 16; Result: Dodged!]

You swerved quickly to avoid a large rock and you lost focus.
You didn't remember what you were thinking
but it was probably a dangerous idea.
Something that might work or kill you.
Oh well, since you didn't remember it was time to kill the dinosaur.

You didn't have to keep driving for long.
You found the animal in a clearing, panting.
It was trying to fill its lungs with air, but there was blood inside them.
Each breath of air took was a struggle against a rending pain.
But it clung to life.
The wounds around the body bleed less, the reason was unknown to you.
Maybe it was its physiology, maybe Gaia’s corruption.
But the dinosaur hadn't stopped, it was still walking, albeit slowly.

The creature was in a trance, moving by inertia.
Unbelievably, some conscious remained since you got too close and it cocked its head in your direction.
It quickened its steps a bit.
But you could see in those half-dead eyes that it was not afraid.
It was furious, but it didn't want to fight.
This gave you a little preparation time.
[Rakta heals you to max HP, she does not have Aberrance left]

What are you going to do? [Roll 1d20 Bo3]
>Cast some spells (Which ones)
>Attack it (With who?)
>Shoot at it
>Ram it with the truck
>Use Psalms of the vagabond before stabbing it in the neck (How many times?)
>Try to tame it (HOW?) (Failure will result in taking a hit)
>Write in

How much time did it pass since it ran away? 1d20 min/ Mage armor last 10 min.

I'm tempted to change my vote to taming it after that roll, but I feel like it would be cheating.
Also OP said that some things are impossible no matter how well we roll, and in my opinion befriending an animal after hunting it down is something like that.
Althought we could try to heal or feed it? It's furious but doesn't want to fight. But how do we keep a dinosaur fed and healthy?

It was time to put it out of its misery.
This was the only thing that mattered now.
You had thoughts of doubt that imagined a different present.
Thoughts that questioned your decisions, stating that there was another way.
"Was" being the key word, they were options that you no longer had.
And being honest, they had just as many problems.
So you swallowed your regret and shot the dinosaur while apologizing to it.
How many creatures had you actually killed since you arrived?
Except for chimeras and cursed abominations...
None came to your mind.

[Roll 20 + ; DC I don't care; Damage 2d4 + 1 - 2= 7 - 2 = 5 damage]
[You spend a bullet]
[That was the amount of damage needed to kill it, neat]

The sound of your gun startled some of your companions.
They didn't know you had a firearm.
It startled you a bit too even inside the power armor, this was the first time you had fired a real weapon.
And by some coincidence of fate, you were very good at it.
The bullet traveled quickly and nestled on the animal's brain.
It didn't make any noise, it just stopped walking and fell to the ground.
With the exception of the shot and the falling corpse, it was an eerily quiet death.

"Good job." Ihlist patted you on the back, unable to understand what you were feeling.
"I think we should have done things differently." you mentioned
"I think not, there wasn't a lot we could have done."
"Capture it?"
"My father wants something to brag about not a financial burden, for that he already has my mother.
And keeping the beast a prisoner would be cruel, killing it is more expedient."

>Gain 3d10 Rations or 2*Trade Good [Food; Bulk 1] (For trading)
[Ihlist receives the dinosaur head, the contract has been completed]

"Excellent, it's taken a little damage but it's as expected. I guess we should have negotiated the payment sooner." Ihlist spoke,
beginning the negotiations. "I was thinking of giving you a choice between trade bonds with the Saintimors estate, a bag of gems or a medium amount of paper money,
and before you say paper money, the small merchants will not accept it. The idea would be about 220."

Ah yes, the payment.
It was something you had to decide.
And you would have paid more attention but you couldn't concentrate.
The orange mist that is emerging from the cadaver was very distracting.

So now you choose what plot changing event will happen next.
All of these events will be VERY important and all of them will happen in this thread, you choose the order and what happens inside of them.

Stats of the dino in case you were curious:
Apatosaurus (Kind of)
Strength-[15] /Aberrance -[0] /Instinct-[9] /Speech-[0] / Corporeality –[18] /Insight – [2]
Chosen; when you roll for an action use Bo3
“Soulless”: Immunity all types of charm magic.
Cretaceous vigor: Reduce all damage by 2, resistance to diseases.
Rage: It can be activated if HP is lowered by half, it cannot retreat but gains a +5 to hit.
Monstrous prey: This creature ignores ALL injuries inside of combat
Natural weapons: + 3 to hit with natural weapons.

Tail whip [ + 18 to hit; Range: Medium; 3d6 blunt damage ]
Stomp [ + 18 to hit; 1d10 blunt damage and 1 permanent injury]

Also, I will do a rework of the combat system.
While contest rolls work well for melee, it's a pain in the ass for ranged.
I will be forced to adopt the classic armor save.

Probably something like
No Armor: 5 + Instinct = DC to hit you
Leather: 7 + Instinct
Heavy Steel 8 + Corporeality
Power Armor: 12 + Instinct

Or something like that, I'm getting ideas.
This will also create the need for initiative, but I will simply reverse the Corporality.
That way the squishies go first.

Considering everything that gets summoned here (at least from our world) gets "demonized", does this mean the skins and bones are exceptionally tough can we craft them into armor?

I'm sitting in this old meeting room,
The walls are a yellowish color and the ceiling is falling apart.
One of the walls had already collapsed, leaving part of the room sunken.
This room is the heart of the Confederacy, and it’s as decayed as its people.
The unpleasant buzz of the lights was drowned out by my two captains, arguing over what action we should take next.
Our only witnesses are the mummified corpses of former military officers.
Here they had their last meeting before ending their lives, I could not bring myself to order a burial.
They abandoned us.
And when us became just me, I could not bring myself to let them go.

Them me became the three of us, and I don't know how long this will last.
The only thing keeping me afloat is my pride.
I pay fleeting attention to what my subordinates are saying.

“ <HUMAN> = 1 // Laws.List ( 1 ; 43 ) == True // PriorityQueue< HUMAN , Find > “ the android spouted, pointing accusingly at his opponent

"He left us, Charon!" the opposing abomination claimed "I'm not wasting my soldiers so you can have a new toy for your sex dungeon!"

I sigh disappointed that I expected anything else, so I look around the table for inspiration.
My creators and true brothers are just bleached bones.
Their hollow eye sockets give me a grim comfort.
It will all be over soon and I will rest.
Though my guts churn at the prospect of what I plan to do.
But I have nothing left to hold me here, or so I want to believe.

My fantasy is shattered when Rigek pulls me into the conversation, trying to get me to support his plan.
After centuries of service together and being his maker, I still don't understand how he follows his role with such passion.
He looks at me, expecting an answer to a question I didn't hear.
He is so repetitive that I know what he was asking me, and I give him my same repetitive answer.
"And what do you want me to do, Rigek. Approve a war we will lose?" I say, exhausted by this routine.

"Well, yes. There is nothing else to protect, we have an obligation to end the war." Rigek said calmly, convinced that this time I would agree to follow his plan.

"IF ( logic ) = False // <HUMAN> = 1" Charon repeated, as if that was a new revelation. "Main [ Protocol.List ( 1 ; 20 ) ] //< Humanity must endure # > "

"And WHAT?! Are you going to get yourself a few hundred clones? To do what?"
Rigek expresses, frustrated at the robot's inflexibility. "You just want to run more experiments, at the cost of everyone else, including humanity."

"Rigek == Traitor" Was the solemn reply.

"You egocentric toster, How do you dare say that?" The captain slammed his fist against the table,
the rotten wood couldn't take it and it shattered into pieces that fell to the floor.
"You have been ignoring orders since Cedalion created you, you are a failed experiment with delusions of grandeur."
>>

At that moment I intervened, I don't know why.
"Rigek, this meeting isn't getting us anywhere. Dismissed." I looked at Charon “both of you.”
And to my surprise, instead of getting up and leaving, they both stayed seated.
I knew the android could ignore my orders, but I did not know the chimera was capable of it too.

"No. A decision has to be made," Rigek said seriously, "Charon wants to clone the human. And that has the same problems as creating more captains, you have to ban it now."

Charon fumed, his words mixed with static.
" FALSE // Order.2 != [Proposal #224] " The android continued to speak monotonously, but his voice was too distorted to understand.

“It IS the same! You want to create sapient life under these conditions to be use as pawns in this sick cosmic game you see yourself as a player!”

I sit quietly and observe, Rigek is right on that point.
I remember our other captains made after the fall, they are the only successful ones, the rest didn’t made it far enough.
They couldn’t take this world or our mission at the time.

And as I wonder through my memories, I can distantly hear Charon call Rigek a hypocrite that advocates for war selfishly.
I find that funny, considering this entire city has only the three citizens.
Should we try to bring other races under our rule again? We have failed a few times on this idea, it’s a time consuming project that would keep this two occupied.
I peek out from my memories to see if this two have finally ended their scripts, but they are half way through this play.
How many times have they said these same arguments over and over again?
The fact that a human has appeared and they keep saying the same thing from a century past speaks poorly of our kind.

"Its the only way to have closure! We were made soldiers for a war that should have ended long ago.” Rigek speaks passionately about his war, about OUR war.
“I will forgive neither the Empire nor the Democracy. They want a real victory to help grieve? I will give them a war that feels earned, a conflict that finally unites them!
I will not be put down like a dog when we can do so much good."
He masks his bloodlust with good intentions and some truth, something that always bothers Charon.

“Process.Start("Self-destruct","/Rigek /t 0") == <False> // Process.Start("Self-destruct","/ALL /t 0") == <True>”
>>
The chimera abomination refutes that is unfair to force people to be a legacy. The android points out that he wants bloodshed to be the fundation of his.
I don't react, there is nothing to say, I let them tire themselves out with arguments for the future of mankind, their death and how much is truly lost of the confederacy. They even bring the happiness of the humans into the debate, but it’s an argument done without real consideration, just another excuse to shut down their adversary.

They only passively agree on one thing, I failed at my mission. The rot eaters i had kept alive for... as long as i knew about them, are dead. All advantage we once had I have lost.
If the rot eaters had been killed two centuries ago, we might have won this war. But now… no, we will die.
Our only real alternative would be to flee, leave almost everything behind and go to uncharted lands. The risk of failure so immense that it would require a miracle to survive the first years, and we would still have the problem of reproduction and lack of direction. It’s an impossible dream at best.

I’m a monster, I have done nothing to prove otherwise.
Not to the world, not to myself, not to the old masters.
I just want an ending.

>I am not strong enough, all was lost long ago. I just want to rest. (Cedalion dies, the remnants have a civil war.)

I really want to see some kind of closure to my life.
If what keeps me sane is my pride, what keeps me alive is the force of inertia.
It is unfortunate, but it is better not to question it, not to force it into the light.
I can't focus on the end of the road or I'll lose what strength I have left imagining futures.
I sigh deeply, concentrating on the now.
If I stop to think I'll have to start crying and I won't stop.

I am alive, I am surrounded by my two creations.
My city is in ruins but the infrastructure works.
The human proposed a plan to extract underground water.
It is a plan that will leave us in an unstable situation, but there is no longer a Titan to contain.
"Rigek, you have a recovery mission. The sub-levels of the Hephaestus mines are still full of heavy mining equipment, it must be recovered and brought back. Exterminate the ferals that prevent us from recovering it. You have 72 hours, take everything you need. "

"Yes sir!" This was not the war Rigek wanted, but it would suffice for now.
He left the room immediately after a military salute, delighted to be no longer just a watchdog.
It would only take a few hours to make preparations and leave the city.

"Charon, you are tasked with the mass production of chimeras. There is no time to grow them from scratch so go south and capture specimens for conversion, you have no restrictions on living material. Sapient or animal, I want capable troops.
Rigek's ferals, turn them into rations."
The mechanical abomination bowed and departed.
This new line of unsupervised experiments would distract him from the human.

And I am left alone, for when both captains leave the city,
The heart of the confederation will be exposed.
Almost without soldiers and weapons.
If I die, I'm prepared for it.
If I survive, I will continue with this direction.
In the meantime, I need to keep busy.
Gaia's containment will serve that purpose.
I have to work.

....

You, meanwhile, were stunned by the scene in front of you.
The orange mist took on a humanoid shape.
Pulsating translucent circuitry coursed through it.
He got out and started walking.
The person who took the initiative was Rakta, trying to summon a miracle from her god.
"May Qothos return your lost soul to Avernus. In prayer I send you to him."
Her sword, catalyst to divine violence, was ineffective.
The metal went through the fog just as you would expect.
Any spell or miracle had had no effect.

Gaia's fragment petted her, despite the attempt on her live.
And she continued walking towards the mountains to the south.
saying goodbye to you, you weren't sure what exactly you had done.
Another tiny fragment of Gaia had been released.

The Armor system is now implemented
Attacker rolls against a set Dc established by armor, ties go to attacker. With exception of surprise attacks the lowest Corporality goes first. Pooling attacks can still be done but the NPC’s will be considered a unit, so the attacks will be 1 roll that will be tested against the DC of all of them.
Changes relevant to your inventory and stats are:
Naked Armor Value = 9 + Instinct
Chest plate AV = 14 + Strength/2
Power armor AV = 26
Shield = +2 AV
Buckler shield = +1 AV
Mage armor spell = Add Insight/2 to your armor, dispels after 1 hit or 10 min.

...

Okay, you can't let this piece of Gaia just slip away.
You have decided that, you want to know what she wants.
it's complicated.

"Emilia, could you stay butchering the dinosaur while I deal with this? I'll leave you with the truck, Ghal knows how to drive, pick me up when you're done."
"Sure, but I'll take a cut and then explain to me what exactly you're following, Charmer."
A quick farewell and you turned and ran after the orange fog.
It wasn't moving fast but you didn't want to let it get too far away.

"Where do you think you're going, Anon!?" Rakta was following you.
Responded as you walked.
"Ah, well. Talk to Gaia? Know where she's going and what she's doing?"
"That's not Gaia, that's a Demon soul. Something like rot-eaters but spiritual, stay away or it will corrupt you.
I haven't been able to deal with it but as soon as an Inquisitor shows up we can contain It."

What?
Seeing the confusion on your face, Rakta explained a bit more.
"If you could find that demon beast it's only a matter of time before an Inquisitor shows up with demon slaying equipment."
That was not the part that got you confused
You knew that was a possibility when you came,
What confused you was that this clear fragment of Gaia was mistaken for a human soul.
Well, it wasn't obvious. You know it's Gaia from experience, though you didn't know she might not possess a creature.
Maybe that was one of the ways to lock her up.
Would it work to capture the fog physically?
Could you trap god in a dehumidifier?
>>
>>5467546
I'll vote for corporality to break the tie
That dino hit and the faggot kobolds were too close for comfort
>>
As you pondered your mission to contain a force of nature, Rakta attempted to kill the fragment again.
This time with magic.
Darts of meandering light pierced the orange figure and felled a tree behind it.
When the tree fell and almost hit you, you decided it was a good time to interview this shard from Gaia.
"Hey, uh, whatcha' doing?" was your first question, you didn't have any prepared to be honest.
You didn't expect to be able to have another conversation again.
"It's a beautiful day, enjoy what is at hand."
Gaia's incredibly generic voice rang in your mind, the humanoid shaped fog unchanging.
"It is, but I'm interested to know where you're going."
You said, glancing back to see how Rakta was questioning your sanity.
She couldn't hear Gaia.
Was it because of the type of communication or because the Chosen one can't?

"There's no need to talk about the destination, life takes us there anyway."
"Okay, if you're going to not tell me anything we can't cooperate."
"But you already do. You are a good kid that does not wander far away from the path, I am proud of you my child.
You managed to free the chimeras from their grief long enough for them to rise up, I too love them for their tenacity."
She tried to put her hand on your shoulder, trying to make a gesture of thanks.
But the phantasmagorical member dissolved when it touched you.

[Thread 4: Gaia wanted to help the chimeras rebuild so the Empire and the Democracy would unite against them,
last posts you have set the chimeras on the same path.]

Had you had such a big impact on the chimeras?
For a second you wondered if she had everything planned.
If the events plotted could even alter her plan at all.
But that was incompatible with what you believed, you were free to choose, no one had told you what to do.
right?

You had more questions, and wanted to attempt to put Gaia in an empty jam jar to see if you could catch her that way (the answer is no).
But after walking for several minutes, floating in the case of the goddess, you arrived at her destination.
Another clearing in the woods through which a stream ran.

"This place is perfect to warm up, I have so many ideas to put into practice. Sweetie, you might want to get some distance.”
Was the last thing you heard before you were blinded by a orange light

I'm next to Emilia butchering this beast.
She knows more about this than I do, I already knew it but it's always amazing to see her small hands nimbly cutting through flesh and bone with ease.
Should I say something? I think it's better not, what can I tell her?
`Good hands girl, you have great skill with your fingers.´
I can't say that, it sounds bad, but is this awkward silence normal?
I'll concentrate on work, yes.
Continue cutting the meat and separating it from the bone.
Lots of guts, that doesn't work, I don't want to eat the organs.
Who knows what would happen, a ghost has come out of the guts.
You have to throw them away.
Sure, I don't want to take any more risks.
Killing it brought many, the animal gave a good fight tho.
It wasn't fair, but it was good.
It reminds me of when I was young and the girls and I would gan up on the exiled ferals.
It wasn't fair but they were good fights.
Could I beat the human in a fair fight?
I'm stronger but he has those weapons, maybe without equipment.
As gladiators. But better not.
`Do you want to fight me without armor or weapons?´
Sounds like an invitation to sex, I can't ask like that.
And besides, who could I tell? a fight without-
uh, that was soft.

stomach fluids and half-digested food fall to the ground.

Clean clean clean.

It stops after seconds, it was the direction of Anon and the Tyr.
I need to challenge her one day, I have never fought against a Chosen one.

I have seen some and they are all the same, if I beat one I can beat them all.
That if you could talk about it, you should look for her and ask.

Too clean, there is no wind due to expansive force.
It was not an explosion.

Runs, I run more.
Clear, clean trees.
Anon and Rakta on the ground, they move, disoriented, light has dazed them.
No burn marks around, it was not an explosion.
There is only a stream and big tree...
The tree is, meat?
It reminds me of my childhood, when the world was much bigger and stranger.
When I first came to the surface.

The tree has bark like veins, it's a parody of the wooden monoliths I've gotten used to.
There are marks like on the dinosaur on the side, but they are not orange, they is no light.
The tree has fruits, translucent purple sacs, I can see inside the larvae of something.
I hear wood creak.
I look at the base, there is an opening.
A red-eyed creature emerges, it looks like a dragon.

Emilia hasn't noticed, silly girl, she's busy making sure our friends are okay.

"Emilia, I would need a hand." I tell her and she realizes what is happening.
Hands, she has nice hands, no, focus Hildra.

You wake up groggy.
You remember Gaia warning you to get away and then light.
You're like hungover but without the benefit of having a good time.
You look around you, although your vision is not one hundred percent.
Hildra and Emilia are with their weapons raised, pointing at...
mothman?
it looks a lot like it.
The mothman is on a gigantic tree that was not there before when you fell unconscious.
Its hissing at all of you but not moving.
Emilia and Hildra aren't moving either.
"Anon, get up and drag the tyr away, slowly." Hildra orders you without taking her eyes off the creature.
You obey and gain distance.
Rakta does come to her senses eventualy but she is now convince that was the Demon lord's soul.
You are more worried about the creature but it does not follow you.
It just stays on its tree.
You take a few minutes to process what just happened.

Fucking back of tricks. First of heal our injuries if we can, then figure this out. No clue how smart Gaia made these things and no idea if we need to kill it or not, or if we're even capable of. First off observe it to see how it reacts. This thing is completely new, so it's a mystery. Can't even try to be nice to it without risk of it taking that the wrong way. >Stay around and figure out what they are (suggestions on how to do that?)

Okay, you can't just leave.
You establish that quickly with various reasons that you give yourself.
So you have to get to establish communication with something that you're not sure if it's even intelligent.

Giving an order to let you do this alone, you approach the gigantic tree.
It is mid-afternoon and the breeze is soft.
You see the mothman up on the branches where you left him.
It is still tense about the situation and does not want to stray too far from the larvae.
Which, upon further observation, appear to be connected to the bark.
The creature snarls at you when you get too close.
It is a sharp but not loud sound, it reminds you of the squeaks of dog toys.

You have a plan, you start by making a food offering.
Food is a good incentive for all the animals to interact.
So it gives you a lot of information when it doesn't react.
Two options, it does not eat that or it doesn't trust you.
It's progress, maybe
With more time maybe it would take the ofering
But you don't have that much patience or time on your hands.

Plan B is pictography.
Picking up a stick you try to make a picture of the creature on the ground.
It's not perfect but it's recognizable.
Here you do get a reaction.
Without getting down from the tree, the mothman begins to make gestures with his hands.
Something you recognize as sign language, but not the specific words.
Its bright red eyes show no emotion when you give it a thumbs up.
It doesn't react.
The plus side is that you know it understands language, so it's sapient.
The problem is that its sapient and there is a major lenguage barrier.
Leaving it here would be cruel, right?

An idea comes to mind with this, magic.
If it can understand a language there should be a spell that can make you share one.
There are no obstacles without at least a solution.
So you immerse yourself in your work.

[Roll 20 + 8 +8 (Spell crafter) DC 20 Result: Telepathy spell]
<Telepathy spell; (1 aberrance) The user can share/receive thoughts with/from a creature it can see for 5min. The user dictates all conditions and restrictions for the interactions, but they apply for both targets.>

You are proud of your spell, it is complex but it works very efficiently.
And it doesn't have many restrictions so you could use it for anything.
More or less, it was a stroke of genius that you have to experiment with.

"Do you really think that will work? The bug has no spoken language so it will be all visual information."
Flora's voice over your shoulder scared you a little.
You hadn't heard her coming.
"I thought I asked that no one come near." You said a little worried that she had ignored an order.

"That's true, but the tree got close to us so it doesn't count anymore.
And I've been bored there ever since Ghal forbade me to talk to the necromage."
"The tree got close?" you asked, trying not to think about the other things she had said for now.
She didn't give them much importance either and pointed to the base of the gigantic tree.

"There's a gigantic spell down there, it's connecting the tree to the rest of the forest to absorb aberration.
Then it channels it into those runes like the ones the dinosaur had and producing something.
I think it makes more larvae."

"Is it going to kill the forest like when you absorb aberration from the trees?"
"No, but it will starve the highly magical creatures like spriggans.
I never though of something like that, damn, I could have killed so much competition."
Flora seemed a bit aroused by the idea, and that was very creepy to you.

So, that had made the situation more complicated.
Because the tree was feeding Gaia, not just the larvae.
If it burned down, what would happen to that weakened fragment?
If we cut off the larvae from the tree, will they survive?
Would the adult even allow that to happen?
Those were some of the dark ideas that crossed your mind when you realized what was in front of you.

What will you do? (roll 1d20 Bo3)
>Burn the tree down, "starve" that fragment of Gaia [Martyrdom route]
>Try to destroy the tree without killing the larvae (How do you do it and how do you deal with the Mothman?) [Martyrdom route]

>Try to destroy the tree without killing the larvae (How do you do it and how do you deal with the Mothman?) [Martyrdom route]
Does anyone know sign language to know what is saying? Anyway, cast the spell anyway, we need to communicate with mothman.
Could we try to copy the runes, and find a way to feed aberration to the larvae while trying to remove them? That way we can bring them to the capital.
The mothpeople can become new citizens for the chimeras to take care of.
We could try to explain that to te mothman, see if he has any ideas too.

...

The sun had receded beyond where the tree line limited the visible sky.
It was still light, but you didn't expect Flora to take so long.
She was kneeling at the base of the tree, her head lowered before it, almost touching the ground.
With eyes closed and hair covering the abomination that came out of her mouth
Vines and roots plunged into the earth.
You saw the things under your feet twist like snakes, but you decided to ignore it.
She had already managed to separate the larvae from the bark.
Each one in bubbles of sap and aberrace, a kind of temporary stasis.
You really didn't understand the specifics.

Somewhat far away and constantly watching the larvae was the mothman,
God, please let this one have a name.
Because all the magical creatures you've encountered didn't have any.
Is there a pattern? Maybe it's too much to ask, he was born today after all.
Well, the telepathy spell worked, but Flora was right.
Its thought structure was visual, so your conversation was the exchange of images and memories.
You managed to explain what you wanted and you had to lie a bit with what Gaia was.
Explaining eldritch monsters with images is hard.
It understood that there was a monster under the tree, it was enough for him to let Flora do her thing.
From time to time you would hear it try to repeat a few words from the memories you had shared.
But it couldn't articulate sounds, sounded like a deflating balloon.

Your attention returns to Flora, she started to move, the roots disconnected from her face but golden blood flows from the orifices.
when she gets up you can see the gigantic tree start to wither.
The leaves fall quickly and the wood turns grey.
She puts a couple of golf ball sized seeds in your hands.
"I'm done. You owe me, a real meal and i call us even" she said, wiping her face.
I own you, you thought to yourself.
"Another indirect request to kill people?" You knew the answer, but it was good to confirm.
She didn't answer, she just went back to the truck.
>>
You stood there watching Gaia's gigantic creation disappear.
Within minutes there was only a dead trunk left.
And from the markings of the goddess on the side emerged the stones.
They were the same as the ones in the Demon capital,
although the pristine appearance gone, they looked dirty and burned.
you kept them in your pocket, leaving a fragment of Gaia there was too irresponsible.

"I assumed you would pick the gems, you have the air of a mercenary." Ihlist said handing you your payment.
"But a safe heaven? I could easily disguise some people as house servants and grounds keepers, but not in the conditions you are in now.
My refuge would be if you are able to follow a dress code and not be armed at all times, And this is not negotiable."

At first you thought she was kidding you,
But when you asked what was wrong with your outfit to go along with the joke
She then started a harsh criticism of your "soggy hobo" style, as she described it.
She made it clear to you that right now you wouldn't be presentable in any social situation higher than a bar fight.
Not that you minded, but it hurt a bit when Emilia openly laughed at the comment.

Gain:
-Sack of gems
-Hideout: Saintimors state

Apart from that you had to explain to Potato what the mothman was and why you were helping him.
Also how you were doing it and why you had to burn the tree.
"So why are you taking them to the capital?"
It was a valid question, there was nothing in that wasteland except ruins and chimeras.
You know they need protection, but you're not sure you can give it to them.
You asked your companions this question, to see what they thought, and you got a couple of ideas.

Hildra proposed taking them north, near the Conglomerate.
It was an area so chaotic due to the Kobolds that it could take decades for another race to become aware of their existence.
The kobolds, if they didn't see immediate benefit, would forget about them.
Tog confirmed this truth, but, he mentioned that it was still dangerous.

Rakta proposed to travel south by boat and leave the "dragonkin" and the eggs in the Wild lands.
If they survived the first few weeks, no one would find them.
An existence far from the rest of the races at the cost of living on the edge of the knife.
When you asked her what the church would do if she found them, she responded hesitantly.
"Maybe they will accept them and try to find a place for them, or maybe they will purge them. It depends on which Cardinal we get."
Emilia supported the idea of taking them to the capital.
She said it was the safest place.
Although you could see that she wanted to go back to loot the capital at last.
And finally Ihlist proposed to separate the group and the seeds together with some larvae to different places.
"Don't put all the eggs in one basket. Diversifying investments is the first step to getting good benefits."

You tried to explain the situation to the mothman to see what her opinion was.
But this was too big for her, she couldn't understand the concept of what you were explaining or the problem.

[Ihlist and your group will part ways since the contract is complete]
What will you do?
>Return to the Demon capital
>Aim for the Wildlands
>Travel West in search of a favorable Cardinal that will take in the moth-men.
>Leave the mothmen here, maybe deeper in the mountains.

>Return to the Demon capital

You had avoided committing yourself to this path for quite some time.
Binding yourself to the remnants of humanity was an important decision.
Not permanent, but dangerous in many ways.
You didn't trust the chimera captains much either.
But it was a place where if you gave the order to protect the mothmen, it would be carried out.
It was no longer for your safety but for theirs.
You had a cause, a cause that needed power.
Not only military, industrial as well.
This was the most direct path to it.
Your decision was accepted by the group without complaint.
Everyone understood what was calling you, what was your motivation.

What do you do during the trip? (choose 1)
>Talk to someone (who?)

[2 fuel spent, you have 11]
[3 rations used, you have 20]
[I will assume you work on 1/2 rations and harvest the rest]

The way back was suspiciously easy.
you descended to the south on dirt roads and followed the foot of the mountain range.
No important towns on your way, the largest hamlet were five houses close to each other..
In it, Ihlist left your group.
She unloaded her trophy from the truck and asked you to buy better clothes
stating that eventually someone would mistake you for a demon trying to hide its identity
You had never told her that you were a human, it was a detail that you had forgotten to confess.
And at this point you decided that it was better to continue like this.
She hired some locals to help her with the "luggage"
She took her time saying goodbye to Emilia and Hildra.
To the rest it was a generic farewell without depth.

you left her behind
there wasn't much more to say.
The winding path between crags and overly steep hills was taking too much of your attention.
And you were making good progress, it wouldn't take long to reach the capital.
Although every action has its obstacles.
Yours was shaped like a person, and you didn't realize it until it was too late.

You were traveling in the truck while taking classes from Flora.
Her instruction on principles of magic had ended and she was beginning to talk about the specifics of illusionism.
Like how it was the only school of magic which couldn't be replicated without runes.
No natural phenomenon with aberration condensation ever created pure illusions.
Only derivatives of other magical phenomena.
Potato also attended these lectures.
According to her mother, he had the instinct to use the principles but not the knowledge to understand them.
That was the difference between adult and infant spriggan.
She was also making you practice a lot, pushing the limits of the precision you could achieve.

Gained skill:
>Illusionist(novice); Your illusions cost -1 aberrance to cast to a min of 1. All your illusions can be visual and auditory without increasing the cost.

Hours later, with Ghal at the wheel, you had to stop in the middle of the road.
Several felled trees were blocking the path.
it had been a normal event on hilly gravel roads, just on a smaller scale.
So Hildra didn't give it much thought as she got down to estimate how long it would take her to get them out of the way.
She approached the natural barricade and began to circle it.
With one hand on the wood, she was inspecting the old trees.
He stopped at the base of the tree and looked at it more closely, realizing it had been cut.
By this time you were getting off the truck.
"AMBUSH!" Hildra gave a sharp cry of alarm, there was no panic in her voice, just another rutine of her quasi-military life.

The sound of breaking wood echoed through the forest.
Three other trees a little further back on the road fell to the ground, blocking the exit.
they had left you trapped.
Rakta and Emilia got out of the truck and watched the edge of the forest for movement.
In the tense silence your companions whispered theories.
Bandits, ferals, inquisitors...

You expected many things, but not a vagrant.
A sickly-looking red kobold emerged from the bushes.
Covered in cloth and bound with ropes, he walked erratically in your general direction.
His scales were falling off and his voice was a ragged shriek, it eard like he had been screaming for days on end.
And the worst thing is that you recognized him.
It was one of the kobold musicians, the one who went berserk while he was trying to kill you.
The one who ran away with his sane partner in the same camp where you left Flora's fat fan.
And that's how you knew who was preparing this.
>>
While you were thinking about the lizard, it had come closer, but he going to pass by the group through it side.
His erratic steps interrupted by episodes of laughter and hoarse crying gave him an unpredictable route.
"Does that lizard have a sign?" Emilia was the first to notice.
The kobold had a sign on its back, although you couldn't read what it said.

You heard someone else get off the truck,
It was Flora, with that maniacal grin of hers with too many fangs.
When she had changed her teeth?
Did she know where her fan was hiding?
Was this her fault?
"Don't look at me like that, I think he's more obsessed with you than with me now." She said, licking her lips.
Fantasizing about the taste such a mind would have.
"You have to let me kill him. Pretty please?"

What will you do?
>Investigate the Kobold (You or someone else?)
>Burn the forest (this could backfire)
>Have Flora track/kill him (what is the order?)
>He walks towards the forest, he wants you, he will follow you.

>Only for the most far-gone
I got to love this quest and the players.
I set up a world where the humans were considered demons for doing some fucked up shit,
and the players eventually follow the same path of "Demonhood" because that shit is practical and might be the good choice.

Like Ghal, he was a war criminal, he was considered "too far-gone".
And I’m not making this shit up on the spot, he told you when you meet him back in thread 1 and he just had an existential crisis over this a few post back.
Its fucking great when it clicks.
Also, good news Anon, that spell must exist somewhere in the demon capitals library due to this.

Now the question is how i top that.

The stalker was hiding somewhere in the visible forest.
Probably watching as he waits for his chance to act.
You don't have to risk it.
You turned to Flora, who was waiting for your order.
"Capture him. Do not hurt him. Make sure he is without weapons or traps. Bring him to me."
You gave her some simple instructions to follow, and her ghoulish smile crumbled.
"You are fucking with me? I can get rid of him permanently and you force me to capture him just so I don't enjoy it! You're going to force me to dis-arm him!"
You understood her outrage, and you didn't care.
It was her fault that he was on this path and you weren't going to let her win.
You knew her so well, that you had quickly understood the strange way of saying the words.
She was trying to ask your permission to rip his arms off.
"You can hurt him a little, but no permanent injuries or broken bones." You specified.

She got even more frustrated with that.
She clenched her fists and opened her mouth, thinking of some appropriate insult to use against you.
But she just huffed and she turned away, swallowing her pride and her anger.
She used some spells to search the nearby forest.
Several bushes stirred simultaneously.
The she jolted upwards.
"Fucker! That stings."

She started walking into the woods in a very specific direction, she had apparently found him.
she walked quite deep into the woods, you could barely see her silhouette.
You saw her approach a bushed area and try to hit something.

[Roll 2 +5 (strength); DC 14 Armor; Result= Failure]

[Roll 20 + 5 (strength); DC 14 Armor; Result= Hit. 1d2 damage=1]

You don't know what she was trying to do, probably provoke the man.
And she did, she called the man a bastard before disappearing from your sight in a flash of movement.
Why wasn't she using magic?
The question didn't matter much when you heard her squeal and then silence.
Had she allowed herself to be captured or had she really been defeated?
Was it part of her plan?
Hildra advance a little to shot some crossbow bolts in that direction, but nothing came of them.

>Investigate the Kobold (You in power armor)
You were frustrated, and returned your attention to the prowling kobold.
His erratic path was leading him away from the truck, so you moved closer.
Maybe he knew what was going on and who you were dealing with.
You approached him cautiously, you were in a power armor but that animal had tried to bite you to death.
When you were close enough, the lizard shot you a look.
But he laughed and continued walking, ignoring you.

"Do you remember me?" you asked him.
"Book, Book, it is a wrack. Mommy wants it back.
Boom, boom, go the chap. Mommy won't pick it up."
Yeah, it's gone.
The kobold in front of you is a shadow of what it once was.
His mind is long gone and all that remains is a tied up lizard covered in urine.
Wait, it doesn't smell like urine, is it more like... gasoline?
You look at his figure and see that those bulges have too sharp angles to be part of his body.
The kobold turns in time for you to read the sign on his back.

Now that that is done, we have several options.
We can continue the story with another character.
We can end this thread here, and I'll continue writing stories in this setting ( we can work on the next one together)
You can revive as a Rot eater
Or you can fall unconscious and receive a permanent injury.
These are my ideas, vote how you want to continue.
There can also be a literal divine intervention, but that comes at a cost...

>Take a permanent injury, you are unconscious (We go on)

If they take more damage than their negative health I just kill them.

>Doesn't the PA reduce damage by 3?
>>5467546
I have been fighting the combat system for a while.
I did some changes so it sadly works more like D&D

Naked Armor Value = 9 + Instinct
Chest plate AV = 14 + Strength/2
Power armor AV = 26
Shield = +2 AV
Buckler shield = +1 AV
Mage armor spell = Add Insight/2 to your armor, dispels after 1 hit or 10 min.

right now you have the best armor

>>5476118
>Ayy wtf just from a little gremlin dipped in gasoline?
Used the same profile for explosives you have been using.
A good idea? no, but its fair.

Injury table apropiate for this situation:

1-You lose a hand = You can hold only a single object at a time. (you carry to two ganded weapon but the power armor can ignore this by giving a -3 to hit)
2- Disfigured = -2 to Speech, No one will recognize that you are human but disguises will have no effect in hiding your identity.
3- Burnt Retinas = -2 to Instict and ranged attacks.
4- Deep Arsonphobia = -5 to rolls that directly involve fire or derivatives.
5- Tinnitus = -1 to Insight, Speech and instinct
6-Damaged Lungs = Each successive (Strength) roll after a first receives a cumulative -3 modifier. You lose penalties after a 5 min rest.
[each roll in combat after the first one loses strength by 3 by 3]

You can roll or choose. I don't mind.
>>
>>5476498
One of these:
2 - Disfigured
4 - Deep Arsonphobia
6 - Damaged Lungs
I think disfigured is the best for darth vader, arsonphobia is the least crippling and the the lungs is the most appropriate because
>Collapsing lungs meant you were going to suffocate.

I have to think which one I choose

hmm either this
>6-Damaged Lungs
or this
>1-You lose a hand
But Im okay with both if we go into challenge mode until we reach the remnants then getting cybernetics and become power armor bound to complete the fantasy darth vader aesthetic . I dont think [disfigured] is nescessary since we didnt get dunked in lava and we also wore power armor when the lil jihad gremlin exploded.
>>
>>5476498
>Damaged Lungs
this one seems like a pain in the ass but it makes the most sense
>>
>>5476595
I decided on
>6 - Damaged Lungs
Because while it's the most crippling, it's also the most fitting to the situation.
>>
>>5476790
>Seriously, we got one shot in power armor? That's not fun
I agree with you, it is not.
It is my problem because its a design choice at the core,
most creatures have very small HP so they get one shot.
How do you recommend i fix it?
one of the options is reduce the Armor value of power armor and have a damage resistance but that does not feel right.
I could also reduce the damage of explosives, but that scales weird comparing it to the damage of other weapons.
No clue how to make it better.

>Would we be able to get a replacement Skywalker style from Cedalion?
You can get replacements but they won’t be as good as your hand.
Unless you get a god/wild patron to fix it.

>illusion magic to hide this when necessary
Yes? the speech is still going out tho, missing lips and burned noses will still make you sound very odd.
>>5476958
>Because while it's the most crippling
its a problem for extended combat or constant fisical work.
It works like having short stamina.

Fires of ambivalence preside over your meeting with death.
The loss of consciousness was not an end for you.
waking up in space, unable to move.
floating between nevules of thought, presided over by an eye that judged your arrival.
Whether this was the afterlife or a hallucination of a dying brain was something you wouldn't know until it was too late.
your body ached and your eyelids were heavy.
You weren't ready to die, and the distant orange eye closed on that thought.
the impassive metaphor that surrounded you faded and lost color.
The pain in your body was increasing, the burning sensation in your lungs was strangling you.
You needed an oxygen that you couldn't catch.
A sharp blow to your chest turned the world around you black, but you got the coveted air.

"He's stable." Rakta declared to the small audience that had surrounded her
Everyone was a bit in shock at what had happened.
So did she, but not because of the explosion, but because she helped save the life of a demon.
After Hildra and Emilia took him out of that armor and brought him inside the vehicle, they had begged her to heal him.
Although there are no miracles to completely heal a body, they were enough to prevent it from dying.
The fact that Qothos answered her call this time disturbed her.
So she submerged deep in thought over Qothos plan while the others debated the best action

"Flora still doesn't show up and the master is in need to rest. I'm going out to deal with the problem." Ghal said as he collected his weapons and headed for the door.
"Stay here in case there is more than one attacker."
"Ghal, while I know you would do anything to save him, getting killed wont help. The guy out there is a fat fuck but you are not even average in a fight."
Emilia quiped while trying to get him to stop.
"I have read the master's library, I know the spells and I'm the one in charge of leashing Flora, again. I would prefer to use a firestorm but He is not done tormenting that fiend."

"You are not very resistant to damage, Cast some magic shield on me and I will take care of it, maybe i get a good fight out of the deal. Plus, I have a better nose for tracking."
Hildra offered, she though herself more suited to a combat situation than the scrawny Tyr.

Jerico proposed using magic, but without an exact location of your target it wouldn't work.
Several more ideas were proposed but none fully caught on.

What will the group do? [Roll 3d20 just in case]
>Let Ghal use the Psalms of the vagabont.
>Use magic to create a fire storm and burn that general area
>Wait this out till he moves and makes a mistake. (???)

Qothos is very much dead.

_Game of deduction_
How do the miracles of Qothos work if he is not "There"?
+1 to two stats.
>>
>>5477067
Maybe Qothos miracles are like Philgo and magic, a self contained system added on top of the world, maybe powered by faith. Or a subsection of magic itself.
Maybe this is the reason why Gaia would make life incompatible, not because of terraforming world, but changing the rules of the game. So the Gheist plan of surviving wouldn't work because their flying city would just stop working?
>>
Also another idea is because there are parts of him still around, and Raktas are clones of his daughter.
So they just channel echos of Qothos power?

>Maybe Qothos miracles are like Philgo and magic, a self contained system added on top of the world
>Raktas are clones of his daughter. So they just channel echoes of Qothos power?
this is correct.
Much like magic, his miracles are created by a machine, Rakta has better access to this machine because she is a clone of his daughter.
But the machine is not powered by faith, but by his corpse.
You can probably guess how the church is involved with it.

Alas, poor Flora, she's probably dead.
>>
>Use magic to create a fire storm and burn that general area
The idea of using a firestorm was a simple idea that didn't put anyone at risk.
well, except Flora, that was something Jericho asked.
"Don't worry kid," Ghal replied confidently. "Knowing that bloodthirsty harlot, she will be pretending to be a hostage.
If not, no one will mourn her death, not even her son."
This last was said looking at the infant spriggan who was triying to talk to the mothman.
Ignorant of what was happening outside.

He and Jericho went outside, the kobold's flames were already out.
Only a skeleton with charred flesh ligered.
Jericho began to draw the runes on the ground while Ghal shielded him.
In addition to checking Flora's situation.
"FLORA! The previous order is cancelled, come back here immediately!" Ghal screamed into the air.

"no no no!" He could dimly hear the attacker talking in the depth of the forest.
A minute later, Flora emerged from the bushes, waving at him with her hands bound.
She emerged half-naked, her dress torn and shredded, filled with stains of blood and other fluids.
She had some bleeding cuts on her arms and many on the stomach.
Plus half of her face looked like it had been crushed with a stone.
"What's up jerk." She said as if nothing was happening.

"What the hell were you doing?" Ghal was direct.
"I was pretending to be dead until he let his guard down,
but the fucking pervert would not give me an opening,
if you had given me half an hour more or whatever it takes him to jerk off again, I would have gotten him."

Ghal sighed in frustration, and an arrow shot out of the forest to hit the spriggan in the shoulder.
She moaned in pain and smiled.
"You know what? I don't care, get in the truck and don't get out." Ghal gave that order and signal to Jericho.
A blaze of orange fire erupted from the runes and spread like a wave through the forest.

[Roll 15 + 4 DC 15 Result: Success]

The elf's cries were heard echoing through the trees.
And they began to get closer, the ball of fat that was the elf was charging Flora in a last attempt to drag her into the grave with him.
His skin was falling off his body, bone was beginning to show in the fingers.

[Roll 16 + 3 Armor 14 Result: Success]

Ghal hit him on the back of the neck with his hammer.
The elf's eyes bulged out of their sockets and the sound of bone breaking reverberated in the air.
The morbidly obese fireball fell dead to the ground.
Ghal spat at the dead man and kicked him.

Flora was starting to approach the corpse when Ghal stopped her.
"To the truck, now."
She looked at him incredulous and furious.
"WHAT! No, he's dead! You can't take this from me! It's mine, I've earned it! He's violated this body, you can't-"
Ghal interrupted her. "I can and I am doing it. The human didn't want to see you win and I won't let you. Go back to the truck now. And cover yourself, now that your disguise is broken, maybe our Master will discard you once and for all."

When you came back to your senses you felt a great weight on your chest.
It didn't go away when you tried to get up.
Your eyes began to get used to the light and you saw that Emilia had her hand on your shoulder.
"Welcome to the land of the living, Charmer. Have you brought any souvenirs from your trip?"
The dim light didn't let you see her face well, but she was forcing a smile.
You looked around trying to see what had happened.

Hildra was sleeping against the wall, her mace near her.
Rakta next to her, sleeping, still wearing her armor.
Flora was there, awake and greeting you with a serious expression.
she had bandages on her face and body.
Tog and Jericho were at the end of the truck, both stuffed into a sleeping bag.
A little closer the Mothman curled up with the larvae.
Ghal must be driving.

You asked what had happened and Emilia gave you a quick explanation.
When you asked what you did with the elf's corpse, the Ghal gave the order to bury it.
His stuff had been charred or was useless junk.
And if there had been accomplices, they fled after seeing the fire.

You were still a little groggy, but you had free time during this part of the trip.

>Talk to Flora
You had to talk to Flora, mainly because it was the first time she didn't seem happy.
Or at least, she wasn't pretending to be happy for the first time.
Also because you had sent her on a mission that had failed, something odd.
Why didn't she use magic?

You got up from your makeshift stretcher with the help of Emilia and went to the free seat next to the Spriggan.
"I was wondering if you're better for me dead or alive." She spoke quickly without looking at you.
"And what is the consensus?" you asked, humoring her.
"You would make a cute vegetable." She grew a small smile but it quickly disappeared.

"How are you holding up?" It was the only question you really wanted to ask.
"I'm so hungry. I can barely use magic at this point, and it's your fault. You wasted my perfect meal,
I had groomed that fat ass to be THE best meal I could have ever had. And now its gone forever! Fuck."
"Doesn't it bother you that you didn't kill him or...?" Your eyes drifted to her bandages, you could see something moving under them.

"Fuck no, he died splendidly, on fire and trying to kill me, again.
And getting hit was part of the plan, do you know what that would do to the taste of his mind? I don't, and now I'll never know!"
"Yeah, it might have been better if I just told you to kill him."
"You think!? FUCK! Do you think I like this game we have? Not anymore! If you want to tame someone, sodomize the kobold."
Ah yes, the classic. But it was off topic and maybe Jericho had gotten there first. Next question.
"Couldn't you eat the aberrance from the trees?"
"Would you eat tasteless, pre-chewed food?"

"And the wounds?" you said passing your hand over a deep cut in her shoulder.
"I'm not attached to this skin, I mean, the tits are incredible, but if I wanted to spend all day cosplaying I would join the Tyr court again."
That was new, maybe you should ask her another time.
"Okay, I'm going to fix them now."
"Why?" She was genuinely confused at your proposition.
"To repair the disguise?"
"You're driving a truck and you're wearing demon tech armor. Disguise? You're drawing so much attention. This is me," she said, removing her bandages.
"If you don't want to look at it, I understand. But if you just want the tits, I can put them on Ghal.
He already is your pooch, you could make him your bitch."

"So you don't want me to fix it?"
"I say, kindly fuck off. But if you just want something pretty to look at, I can make it happen."
Ghal would probably hate you for life if you did this to him.
But it is interesting to know that it is possible.
Maybe with a man's skin... where would you get that!?

Three possible answers... damn, i suck at making them.
>Answer to the riddle

The riddle was ambiguous at best.
But that was good.
"Several things come to mind, luck fits quite well, but so does greed."
"... yes. Apt are."
"And if we get a little more philosophical, violence too. After all, it is necessary but we try not to justify it."
The little metallurgical abomination screeched softly.

"Aaahhh! Why is the task at ease with you? I have failed. Knowledge is power and power comes with strife, if not, devalue hits. Trials more demanding in design, the only salvation, yes!"
"Dude, if this is stressing you we can work on information exchange." you tried to calm the small creature down.
But the mental breakdown was in full swing and you could only watch.
"Never! Salvation given freely corrupts, no more humans will eat my sins. I must be better."

>She can take off the skin
"Finally, I was getting tired of being in someone else's shoes."
Flora's body began to bend in an unnatural way, you could hear the sound of ribs breaking.
Her body fell to the ground, leaving her in an awkward sitting posture.
And then you heard the sound of her skin breaking.
Like a chrysalis, she split from behind and emerged a mass of tentacles and leaves.
A wooden mask centered her body into a coherent shape.
She reminded you of Potato, on a much bigger scale.
"I've gotten a little attached to that face, but I'm not going to use it if I don't have to." she said with the same voice as always.
It was bizarre to hear her speak from such an alien form.

>The event today.
At some point after talking to Flora you had fallen asleep.
It seems the injuries you had had really left you tired.
Your awakening was long after breakfast, actually at the lunch stop.
Hildra woke you up with the smell of the food that they had prepared for you.
They still didn't want you to move much in case you had a broken bone.
The Miracles of Rakta and your demonic constitution made it unclear how long it would take you to recover.
But you were beginning to suspect permanent damage to your lungs.

On your lap was a bowl of dried sausage and less than fresh vegetables stew.
A good travel meal in this world, although it made you think of airplane food.
However, what distracted you was that Hildra was sitting in front of you, watching.
She clearly wanted something but didn't know how to ask.
So you tried to goad her into talking about it.
"How is your day going?"

"Okay, calm down, although there was a little incident when I woke up and saw Flora without... undressed? I don't know what the word is."
"It worries you?"
"No, but I was thinking about David, and I know you have the machine to make cyborgs.
I've seen it. I was wondering if maybe it would be possible for you to help me use it. I don't know how to read what it says."
You remembered what that machine did to David, it was a lack of self-control that wouldn't help his mental stability.
And it was a miracle they didn't kill him, so it worried you a little that Hildra had an interest.
She had been complaining about her old body and lost youth.

"What were you thinking?" you were cautious
"I want an eye that works." She said pointing to her blind eye.
It was a reasonable request, and a dangerous one since it would be operating very close to the brain.
even more dangerous because you had no idea how to use the machine.
But that was something she knew, the fact that David was successful probably made her think it was easy.
Maybe it was, but you had no way of knowing.

What will you tell Hildra?
>No, it's too dangerous (try to convince her of that)
> At another time (If you take too long, I may try to use it on her own.)

Because the only thing I can think of is

What's the history of the first god? We know he was a human that fucked the eldritch moon god and then died, through the power of OOC, but there got to be more. Like how did he come over? Was he an actual god or just a very powerful person? Is there even a difference? How and why did he stick his dick in crazy, the absolute madlad? I need lore, all of it! GIVE IT TO ME!

And that feels like bullying the poor thing.

>"It's a very delicate surgery Hildra, even back home with eye surgery, only specialized doctor did something similar, and there was a risk of things going wrong. And I didn't finish college before being brought here."
>"The eye nerves are connected directly to the brain. In the case of a problem, the worst case scenario is a lobotimization of the front lobe: You risk losing the capacity for rational thought, slower thinking, even change of personality or memory loss, and that is if you survive getting a niddle impaled inside your cranium. And even if it doesn't happen, the eye nerve still directly connect to the brain, and without heavy anesthetic, you would feel everything. That means trying to hold you down, when any wiggling can cause the last problem."
>"Maybe we can take a look at the capital? If we find a manual it would make it easier. Ghal was a librarian while imprisioned, he may know the sorting system if we find an university or hospital. He knows only the parts he was present at.

>We know he was a human that fucked the eldritch moon god and then died, through the power of OOC, but there got to be more.
>Like how did he come over?
The only one who knows is Gaia

>Was he an actual god or just a very powerful person?
There is no mystery.
He was just a guy, no powers.

>How and why did he stick his dick in crazy, the absolute madlad?
He will know more than your average priest but he was still an outsider to it.
Ask any one of the gods for a personal take on the situation.

>Huh, you kinda look like a tree Cthulhu. Did Gaia make your people in her image of her?
"nah, it depends on the materials we have around.
The spriggan socialites have more doll like bodies, porcelain and silk, and I once met a spriggan in a coven of ferals who built her body out of bones and fungi."
>>
>>No, it's too dangerous (try to convince her of that)
The idea of Hildra getting her eye back was nice, but the risk was incredibly high.
Just thinking about the number of things that could go wrong was dizzying.
and you looked at her, she was pleased by the prospect of regaining full vision.
You really weren't sure how to convince her that it was a bad idea.
So you told the truth, that would have to do.

>"It's a very delicate surgery Hildra, even back home with eye surgery, only specialized doctor did something similar, and there was a risk of things going wrong.
>And I didn't finish college before being brought here."
"I don't think the ones who operated on David have college either. I'm sure you're more competent."

> [Detail explanation on all risks, omitted so as not to bloat the post.]
"That…sounds really bad. Are you sure about that, David did it without anesthesia and he had an artificial eye." The concern was beginning to show in her voice.

Your gruesome description of what would have to be done and its possible consequences carried weight.
"David wasn't sane, it was very likely that if he had brain damage we wouldn't have noticed."
"Okay, okay, not a new eye. But there has to be something else that can be done, right?"

>"Maybe we can take a look at the capital? If we find a manual it would make it easier. Ghal was a librarian while imprisoned, he may know the sorting system if we find a university or hospital.
> I also know that there is at least one chimera running the chimerization process and trying to clone humans, so the may have proper surgery tools, although I was told he is a bit insane and evil."

"I will take your word on it." She said she, you had managed to convince her
He stayed for a while thinking about what you had said in silence and asked "There is a chimera cloning humans?"
"Charon, I have briefly talked to him."
"There are chimeras that talk?" Her inquisitive tone gave hinted to many other questions.
You could see how she suddenly understood why you were returning to the capital.
Had you forgotten to explain the situation to the group?
It seemed so.

Taking advantage of the fact that you had not yet started traveling again, you gathered the group and began to discuss the plan you had.
And answer the many questions about these anomalous chimeras.

>>Inquisitorial Experimentation [Fate of Qothos]
I was going to post this, but it's probably what the inquisition is doing with Qothos anyway.
>>
>>Inquisitorial Experimentation [Fate of Qothos]
We are at a turning point for the Tyr, and no one here knows what they are doing.
The artifact was recovered by Inquisitor Salazar in elven lands.
This action has been enough to stop his excommunication, but his silence on the source is accusatory.
I have not been informed of anything else to leave in writing.

We are in the guts of the mountains. The [---] facility is built with tunneled stone corridors.
It is a rough but functional structure, which was not designed to take this amount of people into account.
In this room are two inquisitors, a select group of researchers, and me, the scribe.
Blessed our fallen star, no one wants to do paperwork and I am considered "essential" staff for that.

In the room opposite, behind two iron doors, the artifact.
One of the best preserved Qothos fragments seen in centuries.
Established purity of [---]%
And surrounding it is a mound of charred corpses, the walls sweat blood.
The group of inquisitors and researchers in front of me don't know what to do.
They had sent several people to try to contact the fragment.
All burned or [---] after success.

Soldiers, the Rakta and an Inquisitor with too much bravado.
They died terribly.
Luckily, the infant and some soldiers let go before being consumed by the flames.
They are changed.
The important thing is, they are recognized as still being Tyr.

The nuns we had tried prayers,
We now have [---] catatonic women in the infirmary.
They have not been changed.
And they achieved their goal, we saw a violent manifestation of miracles.
There was almost an outbreak of Rot eaters and [---].

"It's not a well-preserved fragment, it's trapped in a single moment." was the argument of some.
"It's too well preserved, still in the moment before his death." was the answer.
The inquisitors are maintaining a neutral position, they do not intervene except in openly heretical cases.
There has only been one execution, that of Dr. [---].
His crime was proposing to dilute the fragment so that communion would be safer.

"The problem is the quality of the vessels, we need something non-organic. A construct."
It was the strange plan of the spokesman for the resurrectionists.
They had a design, theoretically, that would free the fragment.
The unspoken fear was that all that rage couldn't be contained.

"That's forcing it into a new form, it already has a stable one. Let's treat it for what it is, not what it could be."
The apostolates tried to use it as it was.
his ambitions was to change more people, to spread the new blessing.
They hadn't talked to the survivors, I did.
It's a blessing, but it's painful.

"We agree with the vessel problem. That's why we should choose something with high resistance and be familiar to him.
A Rakta deviant will allow incubation in Tyr essence."
The desecrationist bordered on heresy, it produced a new unpredictable factor, but a tyr factor.

The last proposal was the silent one, the option that everyone knew existed.
The option that was not explained to me beyond "Offer it to the vestiges."
It was the safe and easy option from what I understand.
But the fear that the rage of this fragment polluted the rest caused anxiety.

What will they do?
>Use deviant Rakta (A God-kin is born, Desecrationist rise)
>Spread the new blessing (stats up for many Tyr, Apostolates rise)
>A new form of iron and fire. (Unchained shard, Resurrectionist rise)
> Connect it to The Machine (New miracles that can do damage, All congregations shift in creed)

Should i roll or we wait till a tie breaker.
Does not feel like a decision i should roll,
and its not like down time where i sometimes do more than one option.

More context on consequences of each decision might help?
>>Use deviant Rakta (A God-kin is born, Desecrationist rise)
A creature with the capacity to become a true god is born, good news is that its neutral, bad news is that its on the inquisition hands.
Has the funny benefit of following a bit on Cthylla and Cthulhu.

>Spread the new blessing (stats up for many Tyr, Apostolates rise)
Its the most plain but its the least disruptive, the tyr get a new racial skill and some minor stat up.
It is slow to spread, so there will be pilgrims to this relic, turns the most of the church’s attention inwards.

>A new form of iron and fire. (Unchained shard, Resurrectionist rise)
The god shard can act, and it gets out of the loop its in.
It wont feel like he has been on a loop, and its not Qothos.
Some random memories don’t make a person.

>Conect it to the machine.
Miracles can do no harm right now, so if the could suddenly some would take it as a sign of something.
There is also the change on perception of the god, inner turmoil that will need a great reform.

>Write in (propose an experiment or solution, might get Veto from inquisitors)
Depends on what you want to try to do.

No need, bud. None at all..you're doing a fine job and this quest is still plety fun and interesting! It's simply a slow month for quests. I experienced the same thing last December in my quest, and likewise again this year. My number of active players pretty much halved. Don't sweat it at all!

>>Use deviant Rakta (A God-kin is born, Desecrationist rise)
The decision to use a deviant was not unanimous.
The main argument against it was that the same thing would happen with the birth of the original Rakta.
But there were many clones and the hope that something like Rakta would emerge was captivating.
The vote resulted in 12 against 5, 3 remaining neutral.
The plan would be executed.

There were reasons why the Rakta's carried those swords, and there were reasons to take them away.
In this facility, there were a couple of cases of the deviants created by letting them grow without restriction.
The inquisitors brought one and the scientists explained the plan to her.
The Amazon was two heads taller than a scientists of average height.
Dressed in a habit that did not hide her dense musculature.
She looked like one of the changed, but taken to an extreme.
Penetrating eyes analyzed the situation and accepted the mission.
I was forced to follow her, I had to take note of the incident and its results.

She entered the artifact room.
She took off the cloak that hid her expectant body.
I have later found out there was no conception, that was a side effect of deviation.
The Rakta stepped forward, and grabbed the sword.
Withering light that killed researchers who got too close, blinded the rest of us.
When we returned to the almost gloom that the torches held for us, there was no sword.
There was no Rakta either, just a corpse that had exploded like a balloon.
And covered in blood, in the center of this horrible place, was something new.
A worm like creature with an odd number of apendages and eyes over its sides.
I looked into its eyes for a second and I saw the spark of understanding.

The inquisitors quickly picked it up and walked away.
I don't know where they took it.
The researchers have returned to the room, to discuss results and plan how to raise this creature.
May our fallen star protect him.

[6 rations and 2 fuel used]

After several days of travel and a couple of stops, you have arrived.
In the distance you can see the steel and concrete pillars that are the demon capital.
The sun is still hidden among the permanent gray clouds and the autumn winds have knocked down the unstable buildings on the periphery
There are also fewer plumes of smoke than the last time you were here.
The chimes that used to ring every certain number of hours had stopped.

Your classmates had mixed reactions to being here.
The most notable was that of Tog, who refused to get out of the truck.
"You said you were going to contact the chimeras, are you planning to enter through the front door?" Was Emilia's question.
She didn't ask if they were going to shoot you, but if she was going to give you time to loot.

Where do you plan to go?
>Go to a location (with what intention?) (Game or distortion or from map)
> Enter the city, call Cedalion until he appears.

_Game of distortion_
What has Cedalion been up to? (aside from being depressed and the wall around Gaia)
Add a photo/proposal, the more complex or abstract, the more changes it will have.

> Enter the city, call Cedalion until he appears.
You had no plan because you didn't need one
The chimeras recognized you as a human and any automated system would not attack the truck
You only had to move forward and search for a path into the capital

The search didn't last long
There was a cleared path in the south, a highway to the heart of the ruins.
An ashened path that held the tracks of a dozen vehicles.
Emilia guessed they had passed a few days ago.
She also said that they were not uniform, you didn't know what that was for now.

With no more clues in the area you decided to press forward
It was a strait path towards the center,
the debris that would have blocked progress had been cleared
tossed to the side or used to fill potholes.

And yet the decay was all encompassing
Concrete skeletons of abandoned houses and rotted architectures bowed around you.
And high on some rooftops of the dead constructions, your group cold see the green glowing eyes of the android used by the chimeras.
They were terrible sentinels if they could be spotted that easily.
But they were a signal you had been noticed, so you turned the radio from the truck on and you called for the chimera leaders.
>>
It was not long before you saw the silhouette of Cedalion in the distance.
You got out of the truck and started walking towards him.
"Human? I did not think you would return. Why did you?" Cedalion sounded confused by your presence.
"I promise you guys I would return, where else would I go?"
"I was not informed of such promise, and I expected you to go far away from this cemetery."

You were already close enough to be able to see him well.
He was extremely skinny compared to the last time he saw him.
You also noticed that he had no escort of any kind other than some poorly armed androids in the distance.
"What happened here?" you asked.

Cedalion made an explanation of his action plan
[>>5466427 ; >>5465382]
This would have been fine on its own, but there was an incident with contaminated meat at a ration factory.
The blood plague outbreak spreaded but was contained.
[Game of distortion]
They are at quarters of rations until Rigek makes his first delivery of Feral meat.
"Do you need help?" you asked for inertia
"We are holding and the abomination is contained. There is no need to put anyone in danger."

There was a quiet sigh, and Cedalion spoke.
"Human, I implore you to go back. Take the gold from this city's reserves, buy a farm or set up a shop, it doesn't matter, but have a simple and happy life away from this."
"But someone has to stop Gaia and I can't let this place rot away."

"You don't have to be the one to stop her.
My primary goal remains to protect humanity and the best thing for you is that you build your life elsewhere.
The desire for adventure, is that what motivates you? I can give you that opportunity.
I can offer you a ship in Victoria Harbor, run away."

"What happened to you? Where is the 'last protector of humanity' that I met."

Cedalion looked at the ground, frustrated at the answer he had to give.
"I have proven that I'm not that, I am a soldier who was supposed to be dead long ago."

What's the plan?
>Take control of the Remnants (civ quest)
>Leave them a plan to follow and leave (You leave a list of objectives and they will try to fulfill it. You can attend or let them do it alone.)
>Before this we are going to see what is left of this place (Chraron Labs and/or Headquarters)

We are at a crossroads, Im happy that we got here without (too) much trouble.

Now Im not sure about a pure civ quest but is it possible to do a mixture of the first 2 options?

By that I mean doing missions for the Remnants while being a co-commander of Cedalion going around the capital exploring/repairing the fallen facilities going on the water mission with chimera squads and our own little team. Witness the revied infrastructure and industrial base churn out resources, develop new weapons. Essentially being a commander that does shit and not just sits on its ass all day.

Also we still gotta get our aesthetic with a lung implant and do Hildra's surgery.

So:
>Write in: Become co-commander and help rebuild the Remnants do missions for them

I support these, though I would also be fine with leaving the Mothmen for Cedalion and crew to look after, ordering them to treat them as honoured guests and honorary humans.

If their programming won't allow it, let's develop that brainwashing spell and try again.

>"These creature have no history, no place, culture or kin. If you and the Chimeras are soldiers of the Federation, and refuse to be anything but that, then let them be it's new citizens."

>"Come on I cant just leave you guys here, besides I wouldnt be able to live as a medieval "peasant"."
Cedalion considered your words, thinking over his response meticulously.
"I don't know that he's a medieval peasant, but is there anything I can say that will convince you to live a quiet life?"
"Nope."
"I will try to shild you then, but I will prepare an escape route for you," Cedalion said with weariness in his voice.

>"Charon, I need to know if there are any universities, hospitals or libraries still around, or manuals how to operate a cyborgization machine."
"Intact public buildings are not many, but we made a recall to other cities of books and certain machines. We had preparations for when-
we got back humanity.
Most of it is in the Bastion, but Charon took a lot to his lab."

>"After I killed a creature from my world, a spirit of Gaia appeared. It created a tree that was empowering itself, but also giving birth to these larvae of Moth people. I destroyed it, but I got the blueprints, and saved the dragonkin."
>"These creatures have no history, no place, culture or kin. If you and the Chimeras are soldiers of the Federation, and refuse to be anything but that, then let them be it's new citizens."

"Why would you bring me more people?" Cedalion asked anguished.
"Do you want someone to live in this wasteland? I don't even want to be here.
Creatures without history are pure, why would we want to contaminate them with Chimeras? The world will hate them if they stay here."

"The world will kill them anywhere else, they can't survive without help." You told him, a bit surprised by his response.
"I can't stop that, I couldn't stop losing humanity, twice.
I'm... you said that I refuse to be anything, I tell you that I can't be anything else.
If you give me the order I will help them, but only if you order it.
Chimeras can only destroy."

>Crap almost forgot about donating some dino flesh
"Yes, this is, a more familiar topic." He collected the samples, talking about the war brought him back to familiar ground in his life.
"I'll need Charon back from his assignment but integrating creatures into our ranks is how we've survived so long.
It will not be a modification to all our soldiers as a new type of troop.
Difficult maintenance, large size, artillery piece? We'll need a source of-"
Cedalion began to do mental calculations on how to integrate this into his army.
Absorbed in the thought of him so much that he did not notice when you tried to speak.
A tap on his shoulder brought him back to the present.
"ah, sorry, it's been a while since I could do my job without worrying about something else."

>Can we get a checkup for Ghal to see how his body is holding up?
>Also we still gotta get our aesthetic with a lung implant and do Hildra's surgery.
"A medical check for you and your companions? Yes, I think we can do that. In the bastion we have an advanced medical team."
He told you to follow him.

Would you kindly give feedback? this is getting out of hand.
I have no experience but I have an idea how it works.
I try to keep the numbers in the background for now, I don't want the game systems to overlap.
But trying to carry out two different quests in one is difficult.
I am going to need to postpone the decisions until tomorrow so that you can give me a hand with this.

Plan is, you have your quest, but you can create and cancel missions for the chimeras to complete.
If you want to participate in one, you go with them.
The decision of success if you don't go is a bit of luck + other factors.

You can always ask at the QTG, and hope someone other then the resident schizo answers.
But a few recent civ quests that mix narrative is Untamed Civilization Project, Moonbase and Dragon's dungeon quest. There was these dead quests >>5437523 https://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2022/5404015/that surprised me by surviving more than 3 posts.
By what I can see, you could go a bit further in making the numbers and structures more abstracts.

Instead of going for both sets of rules, make so it's two rules that help eachother.
I'm not very good at explaining things, so I might be making things more confusing for you
>>
>>5486095
What >>5486106 said. Use as much math and as many mechanical things as makes you comfortable, or as little. I think the idea is just to keep the quest rolling as-is without abandoning the chimeras. That's my notion of how to proceed, anyway. That could be as simple as doing a rough probability for any action we command them to perform in our absence, rolling it, and then dealing out preordained success/failure consequences.
>>
>>5486085
You could look at the eco quests on SV ive always found that they have a good stucture for managing civs. And a lot does have to do with parts being out of the players direct control.

He is a plant chimera/person who we managed to cut out of a wall at some point in an update we learned that he is kind of unstable, might die tomorrow on ten years later. Also just being torn off of his little patch of wall goo cant be better than properly being disengaged from it.

Okay, I think I have a good idea.
Since I have the stats for most creatures I can use those.
Except for combat, I will give them a number so it’s easier.
You can create mission for the NPC’s to do, you can assist them or lead those missions yourself.
You can’t control what assigned “commanders” will do most of the time with the exception of game altering decision
and even then you will be limited by the personality (lack of in case of leaderless) of the group doing the task.

Civ quest rolls are (group stat * Bonus * Roll (1d6) Vs DC)
Character/heroes use their stat, a group of people use their common stat.

{Medical check-up continued}

You got back in the truck and followed Cedalion's vehicle through the ruins.
You weren't sure where he was leading you.
Finally you saw your destiny, the titans of concrete and glass.
The only skyscrapers that were still standing in the city.
Arriving at the base of the buildings, there was nothing surrounding it except rubble no taller than you.
The craters between some of the cement hills reminded you of the explosives the expedition brought here.
You wondered if these were from that moment or another battle.

You arrived at the base, most of the glass windows were broken.
And what looked like it had been a very luxurious reception was worn out.
You walked in, the only guards were a swarm of flying chimeras who ignored you.
Cedalion led your group to lift and after entering a code on the keypad, it began to ascend.

"Why a laboratory in a skyscraper?" you asked, somewhat curious
"It's where Charon can train the Chimera bats, and he likes the views."

The elevator doors opened and you saw a sterilewhite room with a large window to the outside.
A receptionist android followed a script upon seeing you appear.
"WWWWWelcome to Atlas banking general, h-h-how? h-how? How may i assist you?"
"Medical check up, Password: 1234. Offer medical implants, password: 1234." Cedalion told the machine.
"Seriously?" Emilia was holding back her laughter.
"Don't judge, uninportant fuctions share the same code for convenience." Cedalion tried to explain.

A quick medical check was done on the group.
Some implants were found for Hildra and you according to the requests you had made.

>>5486945
Ghal, being a hybrid of animal and plant, has been detected with a serious problem, the runes of the plant tissue have been worn away by bodily fluids.
They have estimated a life expectancy of 6 years with variation depending on diet and use of aberrance.
This process can also be "paused" by reconnecting Ghal to an arboreal computer matrix.

(Note; I did not expect you to remember this detail, GG.)
Someone rolls a medicine Check on the patient against the DC from the implant.
Success means correct installation, failure means a permanent injury.
The auto-Doc at this station has a +10 to roll, you can nominate an NPC or yourself to do the operation.

>Who and which ones?

I'm not going to bog you with the civ choices right now.
But start thinking Who do you want to leave in the city apart from the mothman.
>Named NPC’s you want to leave with the Remnat civ?

They are named NPC so they will act as commanders, giving bonuses to the teams they lead into missions.

>Give lung to the MC
You enter the operating room, the only light is a blue one that keeps the place in semi darkness.
an android cast to the wall with mechanical arms tells you to lie down at his table.
He has an organic eye which wanders to the tools on the table he has.
You obey, he puts a plastic mask on you and you wonder what will happen.
You wait a while.

[Roll 8 + 10; AD 12; Result: Success]
[Lost lingering injury, gained Synthetic lungs skill]

You raise your head how long it will take to do the operation.
but the android stops you with his hand, pointing the staples at a scar on your sternum.
You have the impression that no time has passed, but he has already finished the operation.
The cybernetic android is getting rid of bloody gauze pads and used needles.
You do not notice any different except for a discomfort in the side.

"Don't.raise.arms.in.72.hours." He said, his voice prerecorded from him long ago.

>Give eye to Hildra
You left just as you came in, and after a few minutes the room was ready for the next one.
You asked Hildra if she was sure, she pated your head and entered with her resolution.
You waited for about half an hour until the doors opened again

[Roll 7 + 10 DC 22 Result: Failure]
[Lingering injury, Blurry vision]

He returned silently, a patch covering her evil eye.
Her good eye was red.
the operation had been a failure.
You tried to cheer her up but she just smiled.
"It was a risk I took, I don't regret it. Although it's going to be hard to fight if I need to wear glasses."
She laughed at her joke and returned to the group without giving importance to what happened.
She asked Emilia if she could get a weapon hidden in her empty eye socket.

>Talk with Ghal whether he would rather live free for 6 years or spend some time being stuck again.
"We all have the time we are given, regretting things we could do only prevents you from thinking about what you can do now.
I'd rather accompany you these years than live trapped thinking about what I can do with infinite time."
You already knew his answer, knowing that he had asked for "release" when he was trapped in that bunker.
>>
>Leave Flora, Ghal, Mothman
You talked with Cedalion about letting some people live here permanently, creating citizens.
He gave his consent, he would not deny you.
The mothmen was part of the plan, you had to hand Cedalion the telepathy spell so he could communicate with him.
“I will give him a few weeks to get comfortable and pass him supplies. Not sure what they will be useful for but I will make an effort.”

Flora took it surprisingly well.
She seemed happy to be left in a place filled with death, and began making questions to Cedalion.
She was very pleased to hear that half of all chimera rations are created from dead sapient creatures.
She volunteered to be the “Quality inspector” for them, chimera looked at you trying to figure out how you had acquired this ally and asking for advice on what to say.

When you told Ghal he would also stay here he did not flinch.
“I understand. I will make sure your domain does not fall to greater ruin… and keep Flora in her leash.”

Commanders:
-Flora (*1.3 Combat)(*3 Magic)
-Ghal (*1.3 Combat)(*1.8 Diplomacy)

[Note: The ciborg creator works the same way this place works, you tell it an implant and it rolls with a +8 bonus, the implants it has are limited by a number you dont know.]

Several hours later, you were inside the Bastion.
It was a sturdy building with low height and few windows.
Maybe it was a police station in the past, or some sort of over ground bunker.
At the moment it was the headquarters of the Remnants.
Cedalion had provided everyone with luxurious rooms.
“They are the rooms of military officers, but since no one uses them you can take them for now.” Was the explanation of the well maintained accommodation.
They were pristine, something you could find at some hotels back at Earth.

You left your room with the plan to visit some of your classmates.
It was making you nervous to sit still and do nothing.
The first one you visited was Emilia, you had a clear idea of what to say.
Thank you for walking you here and offering a way out.
The situation was getting more and more complicated and you were on your way to become the new Demon Lord.

"Ha ha, come on Charmer! Why would I want to leave now that you've got your business set up? Except for the rations that might be made of elves, this is a luxurious life where I don't have to worry about my…failed business in the Democracy.
And I doubt this place is boring.
Your virgin ass is not getting rid of me. At least not until I find out where they're hiding the gold."

"Cedalion offered it too us. For free."
"I know, but where is the fun in that? I'm a treasure hunter at heart."

You talked a little more with Emilia about a couple of other things.
Future plans and ideas, you did not get clear ideas.
So you visited Rakta, and gave him the same options.
Rakta was lying on the ground, covered with a sheet.
Her armor on the bed and sword by her side.
And she seemed annoyed by your offer.

"You are the embodiment of why we hunt demons.
With my conversations with your companions I know that you have been in this world for about a month.
And you are on your way to restart the war machine that is the Chimeras.
But I know I can't kill you, Qothos wants you alive.
So, until The Fallen Star lights my way, I'll stay here.
On vigil"

It wasn't really the freedom of choice that you were trying to give her.
But the hostility towards you had stopped.
Damn, almost dying had helped you.

>Leave to assist on an already created mission (Which one?)
>-Leaderless(Blood plague containment)[18 Chimeras, 15 Swarm bat-chimeras] (1 week) (Str = 25)

The next day the group had rested.
Breakfast, at the request of almost everyone, was food that was proven not to have come from "conversion" plants.
And what was put in front of you was canned food from before the war.
The only one who ate well was Tog, but according to Jericho the kobold would eat anything.
This event did not help your restless mind.
So you decided to go to the ration conversion center contaminated by the Blood plague.
Cedalion seemed to think of stopping you, but she didn't say anything.

_Game of distortion:>>5483674_

When you arrived at the place it became very familiar to you.
It was the place where you accidentally released a fragment of Gaia.
Was it still on the run? You would have to ask.
The red brick factory that looked and functioned like a slaughterhouse was surrounded by a perimeter of Chimeras.
Similar to the one Rigek had created in time to catch the expedition.
And in the center of the circle of soldiers, flown over by man made vultures.
The red building bubbled with meat, a liquid that covered windows and doors without coming out.
From time to time, a tentacle would try to escape and be shot.

You approached one of the chimeras and asked for a report.
The machine took a while to respond, silently processing the situation.
"Perimeter. Controlled.
Incident Number: #5#
Lost Units: #1_C//6_B#
Status: Nominal"

That seems... fine?
Nothing goes wrong apparently, you could just let them do their job and nothing will happen.
Although you eliminate the risk of a leak if you kill the slime now.
The inquisition used fire, Cedalion will have explosives.
If there is no magic

"Report the incidents." Rakta said disgustedly, her military training helping her understand what was going on.
But it didn't help her deal with the creatures that had killed several of her sisters, and nearly her.

"2 Rounds. Depth: Medium. Losses of=[ 1_ Chimera// 6_Bats]. Resolution: Repelled.
3 Communications. Resolution: Rejection.of.Admin "
She said the chimera in her monotone mechanical voice.

Did it say that the mass of meat was communicating?

What will you do?
>Kill the Blood plague slime (What is the plan? magic, try to get explosives, fires, etc)
>Try to communicate with it (How?)
>Contact Cedalion and ask for more troops (How many?)
>Command the Chimeras for an attack (Battle plan?)

We can always try to use telepathy too

Quick question, if we decide to kill the thing, can we use the gas + fire combo, or would it not work because it's an open space?

>If we decide to kill the thing, can we use the gas + fire combo, or would it not work because it's an open space?
The acid mist will work on the creature but its not flammable.
Since the resource is limited we roll 1d6 and on a 1 you expend the last of it.

>Try to communicate with it (How?)
>Ask the chimeras how the infection was attempting communication. Was it auditory? Visual? Magical in nature?

You had questions about the nature of what was happening.
You had seen blood plague, you had survived it and this did not fit.
Rakta, who had studied almost all the creatures in this world, said that the slime could not be intelligent.
So you gave the order to the Chimera to explain what happened.

The chimera was a half-formed abomination.
Elven traces were visible only physically.
His monotone voice repeated reports.
"Communication 1_GH#//Communication:Auditory//Transcription:
<AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
HELP ME!> //
Note: 1 KIA. (-Cedalion)

Communication 2_GH#//Communication:Radio//Transcription:
<Why are you doing this? We only want to help.> //
Note: Communication looped for 18 h. I will reply. 4 KIA flyers. (-Cedalion)

Communication 3_GH#//Communication:Radio//Transcription:
<Come back! We need your help setting things right, please.
Your path is not fair.>
Note: Communication Looped for 6h. Infected elf was chimerified. Collective consciousness, delusional like me. 2 flyers KIA (-Cedalion)"

There was some information in what the chimera had told you, but you were betting there would be more in the interview Cedalion conducted.
Therefore you asked for it, the chimera said it was not possible.
There was nothing on record about this, it had not been left in writing.
That narrowed down the things you could learn from whatever happened there.
It didn't make the situation any easier though.

Contacting Cedalion was also proving impossible.
She had gone out to try to find housing for the mothmen and there was no good way to find him.
You could start looking around the city or wait until tomorrow when he showed up at the Bastion to keep an eye on you.
Both options had their own problems, so if you wanted to deal with this today you would have no more context.
Unless...

You launched a general message on the radio, greetings.
the answer came a few minutes later.
"hello? Ced𝔞lion? *BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ* Ple𝔞se, let us help you. “ A gargled choir answered in unison.

What will you do?

>>
>>Try to ask questions to the thing.
The situation was strange, but you were a cautious person.
You didn't make decisions without being informed, you didn't take unnecessary risks.
Most of the time.
And you had few questions so you could take advantage.
"I'm not Cedalion, but I'm in charge here. Who are you?"
"We are many, Hazul, Jasik, Rosa, Franz and more hiding below the surface."
It said gasping for air, you could hear more names being said in the background. "Is Cedalion alright?"

"Why do you ask?"
"He would die sad, we must help him. He should join us."
This was throwing you off, why worry about someone trying to kill you.
Were they aware of that?
On the plus side, they made their intentions a bit clearer when they talked about joining them.

"Is joining you the path you speak of? What do you want to help with?"
"Yes! Come inside, let us show you. Let us unburden your worries, never alone, no more pain, no more fear."
the gurgling voice became more clear
"Hold each other as dear as yourself, eternal life, we are cogs of a god that is us!"
This started to sound like a cult.
and the motives of isolation of Cedalion became a bit clearer.
"You do realize that not everyone may want to join you, right?"

_Game of distortion:>>5483746_
"I know, but these soldiers never wanted to join that path. We were used, we must give them freedom.
If they have nothing but what they were made for in this world, let us do good and free them."
There was a silence.
"You should dissent, soldier."
Ah. It thought you were a chimera.

But this made you fully understand Cedalion.
They were threatening to destroy all Remnants.
Deconstruct what was left of humanity with good intentions.

What will you do?
>Join it (The quest ends or Players lead the slime collective. New quest basically)
>Free it (All the Remnants in the capital will get absorbed by the slime.)(Civ part of the quest gets cancelled.)
>Kill the Blood plague slime (What is the plan? magic, try to get explosives, fires, etc)
>Try to ask questions to the thing.
>Commander more troops (how many?)
>Command the Chimeras for an attack (Battle plan?)

>I can't dissent, and I'm not a soldier. I'm a human.
>I'm trying to give purpose to the Remnants besides war and suffering. To give a future to a new lost race. To stop Gaia from being freed, and to heal this broken world.
>What you offer isn't freedom, it is death. It is an escape, with everything else is left behind and destroyed.
>Cedalion refuses to believe that the chimeras can become anything other then a machine of war, that the Remnants can't revive the good of humanity, and not it's atrocities.
>But I refuse. As long as there is even a slight shimmer of hope, I'll hold onto to it.
>I'll find a way to free the chimeras without ego death. Without some sort of hivemind cult of a plague that I saw destroy an entire town.

>A lot of dialogue
There was something wrong with this thing, something that made you sick to your stomach.
You weren't sure what it was, but it was there.
You knew how dangerous the blood plague could be, that it was intelligent only made it worse.
"I can't dissent, and I'm not a soldier. I'm a human."
You weren't sure why you said that, maybe gauge his reaction.
Maybe to be honest, so she'd know what he was dealing with.
"So you see the truth? *BZZZZZ* I don't want to kill them, help me." The chorus of voices pleaded.

"I'm trying to give purpose to the Remnants besides war and suffering. To give a future to a new lost race.
To stop Gaia from being freed, and to heal this broken world.
What you offer isn't freedom, it is death. It is an escape, with everything else left behind and destroyed."

"NO! no, no, no! You don't understand, why? We want to help, we want to heal, we will make good.
You are a scared, you reject our embrace, we don't need you, we are help, no no no..."
Gargled desynchronized words flooded the radio channel.
discordant messages of grief and hate, blaming and forgiving you at the same time.
You tried to keep talking, but it wasn't listening.
Sounds of movement emerged from inside the factory.
>>
You tried to continue talking to the creature, telling it about your vision of the future of the chimeras.
"Cedalion refuses to believe that the chimeras can become anything other then a machine of war,
that the Remnants can't revive the good of humanity, and not it's atrocities.
But I refused. As long as there is even a slight shimmer of hope, I'll hold onto it."

There was no true answer, but you heard conversations from different voices.
They were trying to understand you, but they couldn't.
"Broken, he is broken." "Let him hurt, we can wait." "Hell is him! A true devil!" "Why can't we love them?"
"NEVER! I'm here!" "It's time to wake up." "Let him lie to us, he is happy that way."
"Burn the wicked, free their minds." "Sleep, I'm tired."
You felt like a teacher trying to calm down your class, and you didn't have any success.

"I'll find a way to free the chimeras without ego death. Without some sort of hivemind cult of a plague that I saw destroy an entire town."
You declared with confidence.
Howls and laughter could be heard between sobs of frustration.
dozens of voices were responding to you in different ways.
But they all disagreed with you.
They were all rejecting your message.
So you decided to nip this problem in the bud before it got out of hand.

>Kill the Blood plague slime (What is the plan? magic, try to get explosives, fires, etc)
>Firebomb

It took you a while to get the materials.
But the helpful Chimeras would not refuse any order.
They quietly left their post and returned with what you needed.
You built the firebombs and gave the order for all the chimeras to throw one at your signal.
You used a bit of magic to enhance the effect and the building went up in flames.

The thunderous inferno of your creation was born quickly, and devoured the factory in seconds.
The roof fell in shortly, and the windows shaded from the heat.
And the abomination within suffered it.
Burnt flesh mist was the best way to describe what you saw.
Though it didn't last long.
The creature didn't want to die, so it knocked down a wall and charged into the defensive line almost opposite you.
You had forced them to try to escape, and you could only trust that the chimeras would hold.
{Next quest we will open with this battle, you will play as the Chimeras.}

>The Emperor and Milagros [Fate of War]
In an imperial palace extruding from the mountainous walls of a fjord,
The palace loomed above the thick forest, its tallest tower functioning as a beacon for guests, guiding them through the perpetual mist.

The fog covered almost the entire area and hid the high-nobility visitors.
Leaving anonymous the depravity contained within the lavisly decorated walls.
The interior of the palace was poorly lit, the precious paintings and master sculptures hidden by the need for each guest not to feel exposed.
The air was charged with fetid and extravagant perfumes,
and soft orchestral music echoed through the wealth soaked halls, though it had no clear origin.
The great hall, where patricians mingled was the focus of activity.
Groups of aristocrats were constantly forming and dispersing,
Silent waiters would wave betewen them carrying large plates with food and alcohol.

The guests would also dance among themselves, using it as an excuse to have their private interviews.
Others would break away to go to plush rooms for equally intimate affairs, sometimes bringing along hapless waiters or other nobles.
Whatever they asked for would be provided, this was an Emperor's house after all.
The only limit was what the gods had put into this world.

The Emperor was walking through the crowd, carrying one of the silver trays.
Masked, like several guests and the entire service.
The formal tunic covering the aberration of his flesh.
Only the most attentive nobles would identify him, and none of those would dare reveal his identity.
He had organized this not by choice, but by necessity.
What he and the minions could eavesdrop from this event would serve him well.
In addition to gaining favor with the houses of power.
It was a calculated move before the worst happened.

And as he signaled to the serfs to dispose of an unsavory baron, something caught his eye.
Surrounded by a small crowd of aristocratic socialites and a few spriggans he couldn't shake off, there was a woman singing.
the song meshed perfectly with the background music, the audience enchanted by the show.
But the Emperor knew what it was about, he gave a discreet signal to the staff.
A distraction by a falling waiter and courtesans being ushered into the party was chaos enough.
The sovereign passed the tray to another waiter and grabbed the singer by her arm, gently leading her away into one of the privacy rooms.

(1/4)
>>
The emperor locked the room and blocked the passages while the girl paced the room.
Dragging her hand across the gold plated furniture, she began to speak.
"That hasn't been as subtle as other years, Atropos," the lady finally said, sitting up on the bed.
"Although I see that you finally adapted to your audience."
And she pointed to the cabinets full of objects with which the aristocrats could perform their perversions.

"I am no longer a young man with the charm and patience to escort you out with dignity. And I formaly request that you cease your scheme."
The sovereign said with an austere tone, unfazed by the creature before him.
"I don't do anything a mirror can't do. How they react to their reflection is entirely up to them." The woman explained honestly.

"And those revelations create unpredictability, I'm still paying for your last incident. I won't accept any more unchecked sadists."
"The problem is with the character of the people you surround yourself with." The woman retorted absently, touching the golden bedframe and rusting it.
The Emperor breathed in, containing his frustration.
"I can't choose the nature of people, I can only work with them."

The dim light in the room went out.
and only the faint glow of dreamlike wings remained behind the woman.
a headless silhouette twice the size of the Emperor.
The walls of the room felt distant, and the sounds of music or chattering nobles had been muted.
The melodic voice of the goddess echoed.
"I am not here to judge, Emperor. What do you really want?"
The strength of the goddess was behind that question, forcing the tyr to answer without hesitation.

"I want you to leave." It was true, the emperor knew the goddess, he had been subjected more than once by her.
This was the best way to get rid of her, to not participate in the turbulent essence that she shared.
A small laugh rang out and the light returned.
The young singer was still sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Time doesn't seem to have made you any sharper, friend."
"Your clarity brings disadvantages, I will work without it." The tyr relaxed his posture, the worst was over.
"And what will you do with the war then?"
Milagros asked this question without exerting his strength, he had lost the previous battle and now he was treating him as an equal.
(2/4)
>>
He knew that this would only last until they left the room, like other times.
It was something he had accepted from her, the constant tests she put up.
He answered the question with only what he was willing to share.
his fear.
"I don't know, innaction will collapse the empire internally with civil wars, but going to war with democracy will create the same number of deaths."
"Mortals always desire a strait path towards their desire, even when desire changes. Ironic that you move forward even when it is not in your interest."

Atropos had to sigh with sorrow.
"You mean the chimeras, right? The situation has worsened, they are more active.
In the end it may have been a mistake to monopolize hatred against demons. Useful as it is, a two-sided war is not desirable."
The singer had no words of consolation, she already warned him of this at the time of her.
Now he had to pay for having been able to unify the Empire.
And he would have to do it with the blood of the people.
"And a new crusade to the Wild lands?" the goddess asked.
The sovereign did not answer, he maintained a rigid expression.
It was an organic way to get rid of dissidents and get more territory, but it took the focus off keeping the peace in the Empire.
Not counting other external dangers.

(3/4)
>>
"Alright, let's get back to the party. But bring out some real alcohol, let these aristocrats break free of their masks."
The lady said, offering her hand to the older man.
he he he took it and gave the order to bring the strongest liquors.
Although he still had a lot of work that would allow him to finish sooner.
Alcohol would create fights, for women or politics, the important thing is that he would listen.
His only concern is that no guest will pull out a knife, like on one occasion.

What has the Emperor decided?
>Eliminate dissidents [ A bloody but short war against breakaway states]
>Increase the pressure against Democracy due to breaches of treaties and the situation with demons [Possible war, possible vassalization of Democracy.]
>Reinforce the war against the Chimeras [Reinforce borders and launch assaults against the Remnants.]
> Crusade to the Wildlands [ They will permanently react more violently to any provocation, internal or external.]
>Write in (not all options will work.)

We have all the time in the world for this tie breaker.
Anyway, the thread is archived + draw from yesterday.

I'll take a few weeks off and then I will run some oneshots before picking up this quest.
the ideas are:

>Rigek’s Expedition [Skirmish game][ 6 NPC’s you control, you are retrieving mining equipment from a Feral den. ]
-Meatshield serv [PC works as a pencil pusher for the inquisition in one of their labs, main objective is to survive your bosses and the experiments for 1 week. Pure narrative]
>Multiplayer village defense [ 10 players (more or less) with characters , simple people that need to survive a raid from Giants.]
-A dolls scheme [A spriggan trying to worm its way into a elven guild, starts with the body of a doll, ends when you have managed to position yourself adequately]

Some of this ideas might get scrapped,
and as always I appreciate input about this quest or the one-shots.
