Error, Reformatting.

You booted back to consciousness in a trash heap.

You looked down. Your chassis, once polished to a mirror sheen and your outfit, once pristine are both now ragged and torn. What little of it you saw, at least, buried in the muck and scrap. You try to move, but the weight of refuse holds you tight, not to mention it sticking to you.

Batteries ticking down hour by hour, you wonder when it’ll finally be over. You predict 3 days. Every moment, you wonder if it could’ve gone differently.what might’ve happened, had things been different.

This is how you would die, thrown out in the trash. A work of engineering, no, a piece of history, reduced to so much scrap.

As your vision dims, you see movement. Your loudspeaker crackles for help, but it all goes dark.

You wake up on a table. You try to sit up, look around when-

“Ey, slow down there big guy. What’s your name?”

“M-M-M-M-My Name is Cesare M-M-M-Marzano the 7-7th, finest r-r-r r-obotic c-c-chef the world has e-ever sssssssssseen!” you stutter out, your voicebox clearly clogged or otherwise broken.

“THE Cesare Marzano? I find it hard to believe you were just rusting away in a scrap heap.”

“I-I-If y-y-y-”

“Let’s get you fixed up first big guy. Then we can talk.”

His name was Antonio, and he was a kind man. He repaired you, cleaned you, and found you a job after his nephew dug you out of the trash.

You liked making pizza. So, so simple compared to what you used to do and make, but what you used to do never made people’s eyes light up when they saw you, not for long.

He was a good man, and you regret that you couldn’t protect him when Man and Machine turned against each other. You tore the bastards that got to him apart, then buried him and his nephew together.

You regret deeply what you had to do those days, and regret you couldn’t help Antonio.

When you heard about Hell, you knew it was the answer.

The stats don't all line up to ULTRAKILL's health and damage-wise to make it easier on my brain.

You are Cesare Marzano the VII, and you have a job to do.

You need to get to hell, and there's only one confirmed way down, straight into its mouth through the now defunct elevator shafts. However, that's where all the other Machines will likely be trying to enter hell, and you are VERY LIKELY to encounter one.

But you've heard rumors that there's another way down, that in a cave nearby you can make your way down at a slower, safer pace.

Of course, you could always go scavenging, if you feel unprepared.

Let's go back to the pizzeria and get some ingredients, just in case. In the wars for blood I'm sure the dough, mozarella and olives were left untouched.
They might have taken the pepperoni though.
Might have even taken the tomato sauce if they *thought* it was blood.

You decide you need to get your Ingredients from your shop, and a weapon. Maybe some parts, too.

However, you have little idea WHERE to go for those, other than your shop, and a vague idea about salvaging a blade from a bread factory.

>Your shop is locked in for ingredients and some of your spares, but what about the weapon(s)? You can do multiple, but the longer you take, the higher chance of finding something nasty.

You feel your resolve strengthen.

Once, a long time ago on your "birthday," Salvatore, Antonio's nephew, made you a gift. An oversized, paper mache pizza cutter, with a blade the size of your head.

You need to make it real, to honor his memory. And you need to go bigger, to make your way to Antonio and him.

But then, you aren't sure you could even hack it together. You have to try, though.

Still, it wouldn't hurt to go looking for a more conventional weapon, would it?

I mean. You can try. But you are certainly NOT v1, although you are roughly the same size and proportions.

The thing you need to remember is that V1 is a Warmachine, no, THE motherfucking Warmachine. Had the Final Peace not come around when it did, V1 likely would have ended the war all by his lonesome, by sheer force of skill and tenacity. You, on the other hand, are NOT. The closest comparison is a streetcleaner, although you are very slightly more durable and much less mobile, in return for much stabler footing in the bloodsoaked wastes of hell.

However, while V1's bodyplan is mostly static to facilitate his intense acrobatics, near supernatural precision, and absorbing blood through his plating, you have a far more traditional method of blood intake and construction which allows you to make alterations to yourself as your skill and material allow. You could pull a Swordsmachine and scrap together a better body, or you could pull a Mind Flayer and start blasting with hell energy, or even some other crazy thing, like taming a demon and riding it around or some shit.

Your current strengths are quick hands (good fer cuttin'), a solid tread (bad for acrobatics, great for not slipping), a preprogrammed affinity for all things majority sharp and pointy, and VERY high heat resistance (a part of your body, if you start making upgrades it doesn't stick).

Your shop was ransacked of everything mechanical, unfortunately. However, you find the holy grail: Canned cheese, sauce, and toppings, along with a sack of flour and some seasonings. You normally never used them, originally being bought for a bet, but they won't rot, and, considering you won that bet (to make a good pizza with terrible ingredients), you feel fine taking them with you.

Antonio's is a bust, most everything taken. There's a couple of wrenches and some duct tape though, so it's not totally a waste of time.

The bakery though... it was not a waste of time an assembly line remains mostly intact! The important parts at least, like the ovens (mostly), and more importantly, the bread cutter. The bread cutter appears to have been brand new, and not only that, appears to have been a grinder that, from the logs you read, was bought as surplus from a recently shut down steel processing facility as a harebrained corner-cutting measure, with a thick wheel and diamond-edged cutting surface. It's wholly unsuited to cutting normal bread and was set to be replaced.

>We all know you're taking the "bread cutter," but would you like to break down anything else?

>Y/N

If Yes, choose as many as you like, and how long you'd like to spend doing so

We are not going to find anything in the police station with a roll of 14, so might as well get something out of this scavenging run.
Our rolls decided we are going melee like a swordsmachine. But our pizzacutter shall be a tool of justice, not used in anger.

The oven is actually a method to, assuming good rolls, let you leverage your other benefit.

And fair warning, while a Giga Pizza Cutter is a very powerful implement, it doesn't make full use of your current strengths like, say, a knife does. Although, you could remedy that by using the magic of tearing an enemy's limbs off to replace your own with them! And of course, although it doesn't make full use of your strengths, its base power is so high that it doesn't matter so much.

Although you aren't the best mechanic (that was Antonio's forte), you have quick hands and the ability to use them.

You manage to salvage 2 units of machinery, and 1 unit of electronics from the factory, which is enough to make your weapon if you find a small but powerful engine and some appropriate structural material to make the frame with.

When you get to the police station, you are met with an unwelcome surprise. A damaged SwatBot is inside, holding the shotgun you've been looking for.

>A relatively rare Machine, used to replace humans in the most dangerous parts of policing. Although relatively slow, they pack quite the punch with their 8 ga shotgun and high caliber pistol, in addition to great durability.

>Now, they roam the wastes in roving squads, “Confiscating” blood stockpiles and “Securing” the scene until the blood is gone and they've all recovered before they move on.

>Some may have alternative weapons, such as SMGs or plasma breachers.

This is quite the issue.

>How do you deal with the SwatBot? It looks twitchy, and is quite damaged, although it's still likely to take a significant beating.

>For reference, you currently have a large, heavy knife as a weapon, in addition to whatever rubble you can find lying around.

You don't find much, other than a disassembled cruiser on a lift and rusted-out shells of cars and vans.

The disassembled cruiser frame looks quite sturdy though, and would be of great use if only you had something to cut it with.

You hear the staticy stuttering of the SwatBot as it settles back into its seat, presumably near where it's keeping its loot, with its back somewhat turned to the garage.

>0 successes for salvaging, 2 for using, decent loot

You make an attempt to scrap its body for materials, but end up getting nothing more than a few scraps, which you use to patch your clothes.

You do, however, manage to find some goodies
>Some illegal drugs, of which you have little knowledge.
>a few spare parts
>a few low power coilguns, most have the serial numbers filed off

And most importantly:
>A stockpile of 50 units of blood, which you drank immediately
>The SwatBot RailShot

>The EM Arms 86P is a variant of the EM Arms 86 rail-powered shotgun. The alterations include a sturdier frame, corrosion-resistant finish, more powerful capacitor, and various minor alterations to allow the gun to use varied ammunition. It is known mostly as the "SwatBot RailShot" to the masses, or just the RailShot to those familiar. This accidental bit of alliterative marketing allowed the gun's popularity to skyrocket.

A little bit of behind the scenes knowledge, the Swatbot collected everything movable into one hoard to protect it better. The low roll means you didn't get too much and had to fight it, a high roll would have meant there was no SwatBot, and you would have had free run of the place. A lower roll would have meant it was in better condition, and taken much more effort to kill.

A 1 would have been an entire squad, with a pristine station. This would have been certain death unless you ran or took a peaceful option, because they're too slow to follow you at full speed and still retain some morals.

>This is why you take your time, but it's understandable, we've got things to do.

You decide to go looking for a hardware store, tools being important to keep up your scrapping.

And you find nothing. All of them, either collapsed or empty. When you do find one, all the power tools are gone. The only thing you didn't already have is a hacksaw, which, with time and effort, would let you cut through metal cleanly. Invaluable in making your weapon, because it's not like you're going to find a frame ready-made.

Although, back at the police station[/b[ that you looted earlier, you found an intact car chassis, certainly sturdy enough to use as material.

>Keep looking (Where? A construction site, a warehouse, where?), you'd probably need a welder too, and you'd certainly like to find an angle grinder to speed up the work. Not to mention the engine.

You find it. A welder. It doesn't seem like it's very full on fuel, but it should be good for your purposes.

You now have all but one ingredient for the perfect pizza (cutter); A small, high-power engine.

You have a few choices.
>Start searching vehicles (Most have been gutted, but you might find one with a small enough engine that still works. Most machines will leave you alone, because you're still in relatively good shape and have a shotgun.)
>Start searching shops (More likely, but more dangerous. You might just break into some machine's home.)
>Go hunting. (Guaranteed, relatively quick, quite dangerous.)

And, of course how fast you go:

The pizza cutter is vital
>>
>>5436157
The former. Talk your way out of a fight, convince someone of your intentions, narrowly escape death, or throw defiance in the face of the Heavenly Council's will by hitting Gabe in the face with The Giga Cutter, anything you could reasonably do with good luck and strong will.

Defying the odds may have consequences, but none as bad as the actual failure would have been.

If you want my recommendation, Scraphead will be the one you can wring the most use out of. Swordsmachine is a high-rank Scraphead only held back by the lack of advanced machines to salvage from in his area, for example, and probably used to be roughly at your level of power before putting on a few feet of height and several hundred pounds of steel. You could do the same, and more with esoteric upgrades and ideas (tesla coils, heat rays, magic, etc), combining the best of ULTRAKILL's machines with few downsides.

Determined, however, is a very powerful get out of jail free card that only gets more powerful the more levels you invest into it, each rank letting you use it one more time a thread. Eventually, it turns into a "put this guy on death row" card. Enough ranks in Determined and you could fight Gabriel with your bare hands in your current state (damage included) and win. You'd tear yourself to pieces and die afterward from the strain, but you could do it.

Basically, Scraphead is the Isekai Protag (using big smarts to improve combat abilities) choice, and Determined is the Shonen Protag (using the indomitable power of the children of mankind's spirit) choice.
>>
>>5436709
I should mention that "enough" ranks of determined to do that is roughly 17 ranks, assuming he just stands there and takes it, which he will NOT.

Save it.

You're starting to get frustrated. Maybe a little desperate, but mostly frustrated.

You start breaking into shops, focusing on machine shops, but funnily enough, it's a garden and landscaping supply store that's the jackpot. It has 2 high-powered chainsaws, each of which, under normal circumstances, would be insufficient to properly power the Giga Cutter, but with the addition of some ingenuity you feel confident that you can get the 2 working together to power it.

Additionally, you find a few pieces of strong metal from various sources perfect for building the frame.

You have all the pieces; the machinery, the frame, the engine, and the blade.

>IT IS TIME
>roll 8d6s, every 5-6 is a success

After 8 days of consecutive work and becoming increasingly thirsty, you have finally done it.

>The Giga Cutter. Created in a bout of obsessive madness by world renowned pizza chef Cesare Marzano VII in preparation of his hell expedition, it is a murderously powerful weapon, nearly unusable by any but the largest machines. Although its creator is not among them, his unending desire to find his saviors Antonio and Salvatore grants him the will to use it in spite of this.

>The Giga Cutter can cause damage in two ways, and has 2 attacks that each make greater use of one function. The first is the hard, diamond edged cutting wheel and tool steel frame’s sheer mass, and the second is the rotation of the cutting wheel. The first attack is a simple swing, the force of the swing augmented by the Cutter’s edge grinding into the target when hitting. The second attack is simply holding it forward, letting the grinding wheel do most of the work. The former is good against soft targets, and the latter against hard ones.

>The Cutter has 2 drawbacks. Its sheer mass, and the fact that, being a powered weapon, it costs blood to use effectively.

You have two choices before you.

>Time for hell. YOU. ARE. READY.

>Prepare some more. The mind may be willing, but the body is thirsty and has taken some hard knocks.
If the latter:
>Go hunting and drains some poor bastards of blood to test out your weapon.

While the environment and general state of the world may bring to mind the thought of complete ruin and every machine for itself, there are still vestiges of civilization. Blood farms and banks, trading towns, and hunting parties aplenty still live and die in the wastes and wilds, although there certainly isn't enough blood to go around for all of them.

But in this place, there's enough, at least for now.

Not how I imagined him, but a great interpretation and better than anything I could draw!

If you want how I imagined him, he's got a vaguely human silhouette so as to integrate better into an existing kitchen, and the tread refers to the tread of his "shoe". Most of his mechanical bits are hidden under a (now patched, after that fight) chef's outfit, with the stereotypical tall poofy hat, both now bloodstained. The face is about how I imagined him, albeit on a head instead of a cylinder.

Honestly, I have no idea how the Giga Cutter would look, except that it's a pizza cutter only in name. Something like if a chainsaw and an angle grinder had a baby, then fed it growth hormones, then that had a baby with a piece of high-strength industrial scaffolding.

Only such roundabout measures can describe the glory of the Giga Cutter.

You spy on the following rumors, seemingly quite reliable:
>That there's some good scrap in the area, the whole reason for the town's existence
>There have been a LOT of machines heading toward hell recently, mostly military that can't deal with the lack of blood in the wastes.

It's a lot harder than listening for rumors in the past, considering chalk and board is the new standard, but some peering over shoulders and occasional direct askances work wonders

However, you find the following rumors, spouted by a mildly circuit damaged bot too poor to repair it:
>There's a 'nother way to hell other than the Hellevator, a twisting cave that leads right down into it. None who have entered have left, but that just means they went all the way down, right?
>He swears on his remaining circuits and blood he saw a bright yellow beast in the night running towards hell like a bullet

As for work
>The scrappers could always use someone with a tool like that
>So could the salvage crew
>And the Chopdoc

When you ask what the difference is, you find that
>Scrappers take apart fallen Machines and machinery
>Salvage crew takes apart buildings and vehicle frames afterward
>Chopdoc turns salvage and scrap into useable parts, and installs them.

What do you want to do?
>Fuck this, leave and go to hell.

You go and get some work with the Chopdoc, who is a tall, thin bot that is glad to see someone wants to help, instead of heap on more work.

Your job is, naturally, going to be amputations. And minor, non-urgent repairs, but most are taken up by the Chopdoc herself so you're relegated to buffing out scratches and tightening bolts for the most part.

>Still, experience is experience.

>roll 2d10s. It's how many bots come in, and thus how much blood and experience you get, being paid on a bot-by-bot basis. The second is the general severity. Roll low and it's mostly scrapes, roll high and somebot is likely to die.

You get plenty of bots coming in. Most banged their arm or leg on something and just need a tightening, and one needs a plate replacement, the only one the Chopdoc does herself, seemingly relishing the time off you've given her for the others.

But then the 3 stooges come in. You call them this because they're all injured in an interestingly stupid way, seemingly by "trying to wrangle a wild hog and drag it back here for its blood."

sigh

One has a fucked up arm, another broke his lenses, and the last got his leg near torn in half. None are urgent, their self-sealing tubes having stopped the bleeding, but the Chopdoc drags you aside and asks a favor of you, being one of the few bots left with a usable voicebox.

"Hey, Cesare was it? I saw that thing you came in with, and I think some healthy fear of injury would help them stop doing this kind of stuff. Seeing as they can't feel pain, y'know?"

She then elaborates on her plan. After taking a look at the other two, she'll dramatically announce the need for a swift amputation and bring you in here with the Giga Cutter.

"I'm sorry, we'll need to amputate."

And that's when you bust down the door.

BRMMMMBBBBMBMBMBMBBRRRRRRMRRRRRRRRRR

And while mechanical eyes can't widen, per se, you still see him panic on the table as the Chopdoc ties him down.

"Hold still, it'll be quick!"

He has no mouth, and he must scream. His friends watch on in horror, unable to act seeing as one's blind and the other's arm is disabled and awaiting repair.

On this day you remember: As much as you like bringing joy to pizza-deprived faces, so too do you enjoy bringing fear.

I really want more ranks in determined because of how awesome a line such as, "The indomitable power of the children of mankind's spirit burns bright within you," but we need to modify the body to be more effective. I wonder if we pick up enough determined ranks, Cesare can get fiery eyes like a true Shonen Protag.

>Terrifying Presence
Unlikely that anything but Scraphead will win, but if we're going to open the greatest Pizza joint in all of hell we'll need to be responsible for protecting that establishment from all sorts of ruffians and unlikeable cretins. Being able to terrify (at the very least) normal machines to compliance so that they don't break our restaurant sounds like a good option. Doesn't meant we have to be an asshole at all times, just means when you make Ceasare snap you don't want to be in the same room as him.

You'd already know how they work as it's pretty common knowledge, albeit the exact mechanics escape you. It's a genetically engineered organism somewhere between a fungus and an animal, spread on flat shelves or in boxes (the exact method varies). You throw in nutrient slurry (preferably a mix between fruits, grains, and vegetables, but meat is fine too), and out comes blood to fuel machines. It isn't very high quality, basically the robot equivalent of those all-in-one nutrient shakes, but it works for all but the most high-performing machines.

There are medical-grade ones capable of outputting blood of equivalent quality to humans, but those are rare and all in the prototype stage, given that they required human DNA to make. This means that there are Blood Barons controlling these few sites, guarding them jealously and doing anything to keep them producing.

>Turbo 89

As you run, you encounter, on the side of the path, a cave with a menacing aura.

For such an intimidating entrance, it has surprisingly little blood, viscera, and scrap machinery surrounding it.

>Do you enter The Cave

>Y/N?

Sorry about the wait and short update. I'd love to say that I agonized over this and couldn't come up with anything better but in all honesty, I just monkeybrained after a long opening shift and short night's sleep and got increasingly distracted.

As repayment, I will say that this is a Very Important Decision.

Based, all of you. Especially you Namefag.

As you enter the cave, deciding that a detour is no issue (and filled with no small amount of curiosity), you take note that the floor is worn smooth by countless feet.

Of possibly greater importance, is that as you enter, you go down more than you go forward.

It's seemingly a loose spiral, almost like a staircase. Crude, yes if you judge the walls (unshaped stone), but seemingly intended for some greater purpose.

Suddenly, the air shifts.

Prelude /// Alternate
Orpheus' Dance

Hell Energy Manipulation unlocked. You now have access to upgrades and traits that allow you to manipulate the powers of Hell, much as its denizens do. However, you currently have none. Think of this teaser as repayment for the wait.

Ahead, you can hear the sounds of shuffling.

Caution pays off.

Ahead appears to be a small group of deformed creatures, menaced by another group of less deformed creatures. The first, greenskinned and lacking arms, appear to be standing over a collapsed statue and gnawing on it. The latter are few, and much taller, tossing the occasional projectile at the opposing group. As opposed to teh first group, most of their deformity is seemingly caused by damage, rather than development.

While the deformed green ones are sticking to gnawing on their statue, the tall group is significantly more aggressive to you. Although they aren't attacking you, they're making screeching noises and although most are still focused on the greenies, all of them spare you at least a glance and a few of them are even focusing on you. It looks like they'll need more aggressive action to be cowed, unless you wish to start running or fighting.

Quickly, you decide that the Giga Cutter, while amazing, is NOT suitable for such weak trash.

You quickly pull your shotgun, making the rookie mistake of firing before fully level, your first shot missing, and your second barely hitting. "Barely" is enough, seeing as only a few pellets hitting the creature tears it to pieces.

The second gets some special treatment, as you pull out some knife to put your skills in the kitchen to use in battle, stabbing it with intent to, you know. Stab it, and not nearly tear it in half. You did though, as it made no attempt to dodge.

>it seems like the armless green creatures are incredibly fragile, and don't seem to dodge.

As you go ahead, you notice that there seems to be something of a party going on.

There is a swarm of Security Drones and a Swatbot, fresh from a recent fight, the latter drenched in the blood of their unfortunate victims while the former seems to be alternating between keeping a lookout and lining up to get their portion of the loot.

>What do? Come up with a plan Cesare! It'd be a bad idea to take them head-on, but it's probably also not the best idea to try and sneak around, considering that they're security bots.

That there is. Every once in a while there's an alcove or a statue, "standing" (sitting, more like) or toppled. Doesn't matter TOO much either way, considering just how big they are you can squat behind a fallen one pretty easily and stand behind an intact one. It hasn't really come up so far because there's been no need for stealth until now.

Get lucky enough and there still isn't, but you don't have plot armor. Yet.

>While the blood kept you from noticing originally, the Swatbot seems to be well maintained, if a bit damaged.

Currently, they're setting up a blood tapper to get whatever they can from their hunt, which looks to be a large stone head.

>Unfortunately, it lives. For now.

As you leap from hiding, the Swatbot is alerted to you by one of its drones. You expected this, and the Swatbot was prepared for it. What it was NOT prepared for was the giant pizza cutter that came for its head and tore apart its shield, now good for nothing but scrap. It's still fine, if shocked.

Your second swing, thankfully, hits as it tries to bring up its shield. Its shield that's barely hanging onto its arm. Its arm that, after your swing, was messily divorced from its body and barely slowed your attack. "Barely," however, is enough for it to survive, if only by a wire. A stiff breeze could kill it by now, but unfortunately the air's dead and still in the tunnel, so you'll have to do it yourself.

You ready The Cutter for the finishing blow-

and miss. Its scared scrapless though, so you still feel somewhat satisfied.

>Enemy Turn
>Enemy Turn Skipped due to Surprise Round!
>Next Turn

As you go to ready yourself for your next assault, you find that there's an unforseen consequence of The Giga Cutter. While you had expected it to be unwieldy, yes, and you knew it'd take blood to keep running, you hadn't expected it to throw you so...

>Off-Balance.
>Off-Balance is a status effect caused by the usage of weapons too large for someone of your size to handle, at the rate of 1 point/attack. Each point of Off-Balance means that, for the next turn, you may attack once less.
>When using a weapon that gives Off-Balance, the best strategy is to either play conservatively, or to try to kill everything before it can take effect. Either that, or mitigate Off-Balance entirely by becoming heavy enough that the weapon can't throw you around, and you can use it to no ill effect.

They don't seem to be the most powerful projectile, likely some kind of energy-based shot, and the thing about those is that they can be deflected away before destabilizing and doing their damage, you've seen it live on TV.

And so, with a dopamine-inducing (or it would be if you had dopamine receptors) PLINK, you knock aside one projectile after another, astonished at how easy (even if it was still difficult) it was.

Rolling for blood gains, scrapping and loot is next post

>LVL UP - LVL 4

>Machine Hunter I. You know what makes Machines tick, and have gained skill in identifying and exploiting weakpoints in mechanical foes. Any Machine you've previously fought, you gain a +1 bonus to hit against, barring exceptional circumstances and enemies (It won't work if they fight completely differently to others of their kind, or they start purposefully throwing you off). You may also gain this bonus by watching a machine fight for an extended period of time.
>Scraphead II: Electric Boogaloo. Not only are you better at scrapping (+1 -> +2), but you can now salvage power sources and delicate mechanical components, the former of which being vital to increasing your size (and thus ability in Giga Cutting) and/or speed (amount of actions) in combat.
>Bladework II: Blade Harder. You've grown defter with blades, upping your innate +1 to a +2. Unfortunately, the Giga Cutter is too Huge to count, but were you to get big enough to wield it properly, it would be fine.
>Heavy Weapons Bot I. You gain skill with large, unwieldy weapons, and know how to mitigate some of their downsides. The first time in a turn you would gain Off-Balance from using a Heavy Weapon, don't. Heavy Weapons include things such as the Giga Cutter, Rocket Launchers, Miniguns, and generally anything that weighs more than 1/10th of your weight.

Yes, but most of what Heavy Weapons Bot does is remove penalties, rather than add bonuses. Were you to hit lvl 3 you'd get rid of the negative the Giga Cutter has to swing it for anything under 5 might.

Some things are too big for you to ever NOT be a heavy weapon assuming you want to fit through doorways, such as anti-mech or vehicle weapons.

V1's use of them doesn't count, he's got some physics-defying fuckery packed away in there with the blood-permeable plating and self-repair nanobots.

The fact he can switch between 11 weapons in under a second is, but I am abstracting away carry weight for the sake of brevity and not getting a headache/burnout.

You can switch between the shottie and knife at will, but you need to drop the Giga Cutter to swap away from it, you're not big enough to tote it on your back and secure it there midcombat. Out of combat you can take a minute to get things situated, but in combat you either drop it or keep swinging.

Were the shield small enough (buckler sized ish, maybe a bit bigger) I'd allow it and give corresponding effects for its size. Maybe not with the shotgun (you can't pump it telekinetically as V1 does), but certainly with the knife.

Using some odds and ends and the High Impact Plastic, you manage to throw together a Buckler. It's small and light, good for close quarters: But not as effective as your knife. Ironically, you're so familiar with the knife that by now you're better off parrying with it than your new shield... in melee, at least. When parrying ranged attacks, the extra surface area would make it worth it, despite your unfamiliarity and the current jankiness of the shield.

>Yes
Can we make ourselves bigger and stronger with the current materials? In addition to refitting our chef outfit to the bigger form?
>>
>>5477550
>>5477549
You can make some improvements. You have about half to a quarter (I haven't decided for certain how much stuff Scrapping gives) of a sturdy, roughly human-sized Machine's worth of metal, a large amount of wiring and basic electronic parts, and a few solid mechanical components.

You could squeeze out some extra strength with those materials, assuming you made good rolls. Durability is much easier, assuming you don't mind getting a bit slower. If you just want to get a bit taller to flex and intimidate, that's also possible with little downsides, because who cares if you move a little slower if the moves are bigger?

Really, it's all a balance. You need to be tough to survive, but plating and structure are heavy and slow you down significantly. You need to get stronger to hit harder and lift more, but you can't do that and get tougher at the same time with the current resources on hand, because the amount of strength you can get from 1 Mechanical Component is minor and only enough to cover the weight from getting tougher.

Either way, you can refit the Chef's outfit. You have enough material to make 3, should you so desire. But that material'd be better served making it fit a bigger you or toughening it up.
>>
>>5477582
It was to get bigger to swing the cutter better.
Would it slow us down because of being heavier, or would it counterbalance like getting taller?
>>
I would prefer we go with the extra strength over durability so we can score some hefty cuts whether it be the knife or the GIGA CUTTER.
>>
>>5477593
You'd need to get larger than is possible with current materials to remove the Off-Balance penalty. However, were you to devote resources to just getting stronger, you'd be able to swing it a little better, and be a step closer to removing its other penalty: a -1 from being not just heavy, but heavier than you can lift with reasonable ease.

The penalties are caused by different things and are solved in different ways. If you get big enough to not be thrown around by The Cutter you'll stop receiving Off-Balance, but you'll still have the -1 unless you gained enough extra strength to not just keep up with, but outpace your own weight. Get strong enough to lift The Cutter and you'll still have the Off-Balance, because even if you can lift it well it's still a sizeable percentage of your bodyweight that you're swinging around wildly. Think about the difference between lifting a barbell and trying to swing it around without stumbling.

Ah, I went on a tangent. To answer your question properly, anything that adds mass without offsetting it somehow slows you down. Slow down enough, and you lose an action. Add enough things that pull more than their own weight, and you speed up. Speed up enough, and you GAIN an action.

A bit of height doesn't appreciably slow you, because the extra stride length makes up for it. A bit of extra plating, 1-2 points of Durability's worth, won't slow you appreciably either, but 1/2~ to 1/4~ of an entire Bot's worth? That would.

There is a way that you have on hand to increase your staying power noticeably without slowing down at all, but you'd need to come up with it yourself.
>>
Spitballing an idea, but perhaps we could improve the za bot's leg strength. That could improve the bot's speed, weight-carrying ability, and ability to apply more force into melee strikes. I don't have much of a head for mechanical engineering, but maybe we could put pistons in the legs or hook up a system like the knuckle busters in the legs (using the heating coils or something) so za bot can propel more effectively.
