You can't recall much before the Invasion began. In fairness, most people - the handful that probably remain that is, couldn't. All you remember before the sky came apart and the world got plunged into an unending nightmare is a sudden bright light. Not unlike the sun, but brighter and worse somehow. Much, much worse.

Just a short while ago, you, a completely unremarkable Power User were doing as you usually had, scavenging and salvaging from the corpse of a long-dead world. Now, you were in over your head and dealing with the consequences. You only pray that things will not get any worse than this.

Rules:
Rolls will almost always be a best of 3 1d100 from every player participating. DC will vary and will depend on what's being rolled for.
1 and 100 are a crit fail and a crit success respectively. In the event that both a good and bad crit are rolled simultaneously, the good will outweigh the bad one unless two or more 1's are rolled.
Vote periods will close from around 50 minutes after posting to 1 or 2 hours, or after a unanimous agreement between posters.
In the event that a tie is made between two different rolls, a tiebreaker roll will be made to decide which course of action to take.
Asking for more context behind a given choice is welcome and a vote extension can be given in the event that someone can convincingly sway other people to another vote.
Rules may be changed at my own discretion for any reason.
Write-ins are always welcome and are actively encouraged so long as they aren't extremely out of character.

You tell the module about your run-in with the Positive Energy entity. It makes a hum in response.

>"Statement: User's Fluxium exposure was notably higher than average - presumably as a result of your encounter."

>"Statement: User states that the Entity wished to know their identity? Free floating masses of Fluxium commonly anchor themselves to non-tainted individuals or locations. It is likely that similar process was engaged here."

Hm, possibly.

Well, if that's all for now, you have some options on what to do in order to pass the time until you're ready to head back onto the surface.

You decide to train for an hour, dedicating your body towards regulating your energy flow and balancing out the power that you possess.

You're not sure if you're doing it in the most efficient manner, and the module spends some time pointing out perceived flaws in your stance, but you think you manage to gain some improvement from your short practice.

Choose one Power to develop:
>Bubble^2: Create a dense multi-layered bubble around yourself, capable of soaking on moderately powerful attack - May be used once during combat encounter - Melee/Physical -`Will replace current Bubble power.
>Energy Leech: Absorb energy from the area around you and convert it into minor amounts of Fluxium - Increases rate that Guns or other Fluxium-based weapons will restore ammo.
>Adisylavib Ball: Create a dense sphere of kinetic energy in your hand that you can toss to deal moderate amounts of damage to a single enemy - Ranged.

After that, you eat some food. Which unfortunately, it seems like one of those cans HAD in fact gone sour at some point, leaving an awful aftertaste in your mouth and the feeling of nausea. Blegh.

>x5 Food

Status: Nauseous - You feel ill, will fade with Sleep.

Holding out your hand, the feeling of energy coursing through your body quickly becomes apparent. Then, in the middle of your palm, a tiny white-hot pinprick of light forms.

It grows larger and blazes brighter, slowly over the course of minutes. Until finally you hold in your hands a nearly football-sized sphere of energy. Just by feeling it in your hand, you can feel the warmth and power behind it - but it doesn't burn. It's a roiling sphere of kinetic force that you can tell has immense destructive potential, so you'll have to be careful with it. At least in your bunker.

Letting the energy dispel, you watch the sphere vanish out of existence before you eyes.

What else will you do?

You get ready for bed, bidding good night to the module - which is still pouring over the VELES Project documents you managed to pilfer and curl up into your pile of sheets and blankets.

You start nodding off immediately, body exhausted from the long day that you've had. And just as soon as you do, a haze of green enters your vision.

Oh God damn it

The green fog resolves into an expanding sea of buildings - like the Dead City, but vaster - stretching from horizon to horizon as you drift far above the land. You don't see an signs of the mysterious girl anywhere, which you're only partially thankful for.

To the south, you see a humongous tower trailing high into the sky. To the east, a pillar of light shines brilliantly. To the west, the collapsed body of a titanic beast looms over the desolate landscape. To the north, a palace of glimmering crystals dances across the sea of buildings.

You float over, feeling your 'body' (for lack of a better term) drawn towards the titanic body of the collapsed creature.

As you approach, you can see that its form doesn't entirely make sense, as unrelentingly abstract as it is. And as your eyes trail off, you get the feeling that you are still failing to capture it in its entirety.

Faces - deceptively human - quietly stare into nothing as you watch the beast's body slowly be drawn down lower and lower into the soil, like it's being...absorbed. Near one of the titanic faces aligning its body, you see a spark of energy periodically materialize and dematerialize as it fruitlessly mouths words that you cannot hear.

>Try to help free the Beast in some way.

>"Aysi iipsi Xiao-tel mungluctohl, aiat Soneorel, aiat Onusivar."

The face of the Beast mouths a string of words that register as nonsense to your ears. You get closer, and you see that more of the faces are beginning to chant in the same low tone, that same string of nonsense words being repeated over and over again.

Flashes and sparks of energy run along the great beast's body, which slowly sinks lower and lower into the soil, but it still continues to chant.

You try and memorize the word it's saying. Sonerol, Onusivar - they sound like names. Names for what, you're not sure - possibly entities or whole locations - but they sound important nonetheless. You attempt to commit them to memory for later.

You draw closer to the collapsed Beast, watching as it is being slowly and painfully pulled into the ground, incantations slowly increasing in volume, and you press your hands against its side. Energy flows through you and into the Beast, as sparks of energy fruitlessly tear into the suckling earth. The faces of the Beast turn towards you, though their incantations do not cease.

It doesn't work. You press your hands against the ground instead - energy shooting down into the ground and tearing it up. It starts to stitch itself back together like torn cloth before your eyes even as you blast it apart. It doesn't work.

Frustration forces itself into you - how can you free it from this? Can you even free it?

One of the faces turns to you and stares. It's mouth is unmoving, but the expression is one of sympathy.

>"I...thank you, Child. But - your efforts are in vain."

It speaks to you, in a language of words, energy and feeling that slowly becomes something understandable. It is slow and takes time to speak, but the words do come. Across it's body, the other faces keep chanting tirelessly.

>If it is actually speaking at you, then ask the Beast why it is here and what is it doing.
>Ask it if there's any way you could possibly help it.
>Can you tell me what this place is and why I am here?
>Can it explain what is happening to it - why is the ground absorbing it?

[bold]Can you tell me what this place is and why I am here?[/bold]

It struggles for a moment, body quivering with energy -crackling arcs racing across it even as it speaks, a droning melody of voices.

>"This - 'space'...exists outside of the reality you know. A dream of a Dead Thing implanted in your world long ago.

The voices whisper amongst themselves once or twice, a static-like humming filling the air before it continues.

>"It is shapeless in its pure state - but reflects the souls and lives it assimilates. Here - through me, it eats through many layers of reality...into words you cannot perceive. In your eyes, you possibly see it in more limited forms - as constructs of your psyche, a sea of buildings, reocrpurring figures..."

It goes silent, the other heads slowly starting to chant once again.

>Ask it if there's any way you could possibly help it.

What are Sonerol and Onusivar?

The mouths repeat another long string of words - that unfortunately, whatever psychic or energetic force is allowing you to understand this entity fails to translate immediately. You do catch a part of it however.

>"O' Guardians of the Omnetheon, holy and eternal - aysil ixzcrutel Soneorel, illsidad Onusivar. From above and beyond, they shepherd us."

It goes silent for a while after that, only the sounds of its body cracking as it is absorbed and flashes of energy flickering in and out of existence punctuating the moment. After a while, the faces start chanting again, slow and rhythmic.

You decide to ask it another question, one to perhaps aid you in your predicament.

Is there a way to stop the dream from swallowing us?

The faces mutter between themselves for s moment, before reaching some consensus.

>"The Tower and the pillar. There were secrets pilfered there that could aid in breaching the Dream, to breaking its sway. I searched for them - but I was struck down before I could escape with much. Now, I lay here and await the Dead One's dark machinations."

It stops speaking with that.

>Thank the Beast for its aid, and apologize that you cannot do more for it.
>Leave without saying anything - there is nothing that can be done.
>Inquire as to what the purpose of this 'dream' is before you go.
>Ask the Beast for any parting wisdom it may share.

You pause for s moment, taking it in. Then you breathe out slowly, heavily.

Thank you.

You feel a tug of energy, pulling you up towards the shimmering green skies once more, growing harder and harder to ignore over time. You look at the Beast, hearing it speak in a multitude of voices even as its body gets pulled down lower and lower into the earth.

Is there anything left that you can tell me, before I go?

One of the faces turns to look directly at you, staring deep into you - past you even. Into all you are and could be.

>"Beware the Thing that walks the dream in the shape of Man. It is not what it presents itself as."

With that, you feel your body rocket back upwards into the air, hurtling into the skies once more away from the giant beast. Eventually, control returns to you and soon, you can direct your body once again.

Once again, you see the previous options available to you: To the south, a humongous tower trailing high into the sky.To the east, a pillar of light shines brilliantly. To the east, a pillar of light shines brilliantly.

You fly towards the Tower, drawing closer to it. The dazzling glow from the pillar of light to the east briefly draws your gaze, but you turn away - now is not the time to be distracted.

You touch down along the ground near the imposing Tower, a structure of hewn dark grey stone, settled in such a way that it looks almost like the rippling skin of some bizarre creature rather than any inorganic structure. It stretches far into the dark green haze up above - so high in fact that you cannot get an estimate of how tall it must truly be.

All around you and surrounding the base of the tower, a network of greyish-white veins stretch far and wide. And atop those, strange figures, cloaked in grey dresses, stand idly by - motionless.

They don't appear to be doing anything, but as you've found, looks can be deceiving.

>Approach the strange figures and try to strike up a conversation.
>Approach the figures, but stop short of getting too close before you speak to them - cant bee too careful.

My guess is they are guarding the veins. If this place is an eldritch dream and we saw the ground eating the only friendly creature we've talked too here;then we should be very careful around this place.
The tower itself and the pillar mentioned both hold secrets we need. But this place is guarded,we are outsiders and will be devoured like the Beast if we do not tread carefully. Anything guarding the functions of a place like this is unlikely to be our ally much less our friend.
