This is Boruto Quest, a quest set in the universe of Naruto. It is during the generation of Naruto's son. I haven't kept up with the series beyond the end of the original one, so this one is intended to recapture the feel of that time of Naruto. I will not be incorporating the main show or the Boruto movie's plot into the quest, although some recognizable characters will be present.

You play as Takeshi. A highly capable Chunin, who is returning from years of training with Sasuke Uchiha. A new journey is starting.

As always, voting rules are as follows. Voting is typically completed following 15 minutes after the first vote. This may be subject to change according to activity.

Last time, on Boruto Quest Shippuden.

--

You, Kichiro, and Kayo all travelled together on a mission to a small town in the Hidden Leaf countryside. Kayo is a member of the Inuzuka clan, and the daughter of Kiba Inuzuka. Her ninja dog Akahiro also attends the journey with you, and their enhanced animal senses are a great help in tracking your target.

Toshi, a missing nin from the water country. Apparently he posseses the ability to use Ice-Style techniques. This ended up being the least of your problems, however. During your recon, you ended up tracking a suspicious young boy in a white robe who was a member of the organization in question. He led you to their temporary camp, but his advanced sensory abilities caused you to get discovered while you were separated from your group.

During the ensuing discussion, you agreed to a a 'spar' of sorts with one of the members of the enemy team. The leader, a huge bald man named Tadashi, seemed interested in gathering more information about you as well.

The fight was entirely one sided in the enemy's favor. Manabu, your opponent, is a master of Fire-Style and also happens to be a Jinchuriki. You're heavily considering simply retreating and regrouping with your allies.

--

"Do you feel that, Majima?" you ask. The huge owl telepathically nods, pulling away even further from the odd sight. All at once, the grass and vegetation surrounding Manabu turns brown, and then crumbles into smoking ash. The ground darkens and cracks, all of the moisture evaporating silently as an intense heat bakes the land. All around Manabu in a field, all life begins to die. He himself is glowing bright orange as his Fire Armor protects him from the heat of his own technique. Some of the trees burst into flames before beginning to crumble.

Your nose begins to bleed. Even though you're far enough away for it to not harm you, it's still dehydrating you completely.

"This is a spar?" Majima mentally inquires.

"You're right." you say. "This has gone far enough."

>A. Wait for the attack to finish and then fly down and surrender
>B. Just fly away to your allies
>C. Wait for the attack to finish and pepper him with fly-by attacks. If you keep wearing him down there may be a shot.
>D. Write-in

Don't think they'll just accept surrendering at the moment.

It is Wednesday my dudes.

Did someone say Bankai: Zanka no Tachi last week? Even if they did I feel like someone should say it again.

Hey mini, you said we can't stack genjutsu but what happens when two people use genjutsu on the same target? Does one override the other?
>>
>>5389888
Yeah whichever one was cast most recently, or is more "powerful" (proportionate to chakra cost relatively)
>>
Once his ultra-destructive jutsu ends, Manabu turns back around and swoops downwards towards Manabu. The temperature of the surrounding area has raised considerably from his attack. Far below you, the rapidly approaching earth is darkened and smoldering. Majima, your huge owl summon, does a barrel roll and tucks his wings to dive in at high speed.

This allows him to twist and turn to dodge the incoming Fireball Jutsu from Manabu. The huge projectile screeches past the both of you, the blaze singing the tip of Majima's wings.

As he swoops in, Majima unfolds his wings to brake himself and glide across the landscape towards the opponent. His wings begin to fire razor feathers in a rapid spread, raining down onto Manabu. Above his shoulder, you stand, preparing to cast a Jutsu of your own.

The suppressive fire of your owl's attack gives you a moment to consider what to do.

>A. Use the Bubble Bomb Jutsu. Drop it as you pass, and then use the False Place Jutsu to disguise it.
>B. Use the Soap Spray technique as you pass to coat Manabu in soap.
>C. Use the Starch Syrup Capture technique cover him in a gluey substance.
>D. Use the Water Bullets Jutsu.

"Once his ultra-destructive jutsu ends, Manabu turns back around and swoops downwards towards Manabu."

I meant to say "Majima turns back around and swoops down towards Manabu."

As far as you can tell, he has to concentrate in order to use his wind based sensory technique. If you drop a bubble bomb and quickly disguise it while Majima gives suppressive fire, you may just have a chance at landing it. After that, you're honestly not sure what your plan is, but this is better than giving up or outright running away. It's hard for you to imagine what this enemy is really thinking, but one thing is for sure, you don't intend on letting them have their way. If they want a spar, they're going to get one.

Majima's spread wings fire down a torrent of razor sharp feathers, spread out in a tight fan pattern as he swoops by. The rapid-fire attack causes Manabu to put his forearms and elbows up to defend his head. The arrows bounce off of his Fire-Style armor harmlessly, but they do their job of blinding him for just a moment.

You've already formed the seals for your Bubble Bomb Jutsu. The creation swirls to life in your hands, your reflection barely apparent in it's mostly clear form. You let the slippery bomb drop from your hand, and quickly fly through the seals for False Place.

Your owl companion spins once more, turning upside down and giving you the perfect angle to fire your Genjutsu downwards at Manabu just as you pass. You can feel it confirm, and you instantly turn the bomb invisible.

Majima spins once more, righting himself before flapping his colossal wings and kicking up dust and ash from the burnt wasteland before taking off again. He soars, upwards before turning to the side and gliding, giving you a good view of Manabu.

You turn back and watch him. The razor feathers dot the landscape around him. He simply stares up at you, considering his next move. Safely, he thinks. He has no idea of what's about to fall directly beside his head.

It gently floats down. From up above, you stand atop Majima, steadying yourself against the winds with your chakra. Holding up a senbon, you shout. "You're not the only one who can invent Jutsu, motherfucker!"
>>
>>5389935

Manabu smirks, staring up at you with supreme confidence as you fling the senbon forward, calculating the trajectory of the shot on the spot. Against the winds, the needle soars. It's all too reminiscent of the kunai you threw at the tiger in the Forest of Death, fighting for your survival as a Genin.

The overconfident Manabu doesn't even move, thinking the senbon was a clear miss. In reality, it was targeting the bubble bomb directly beside his head.

The explosion blasts him forward, launching him off of his feet with brutal force. From there, he hits the ground and skips like a stone on water before flipping and skidding on his face. Manabu's head collides the stump of dead tree, the impact causing the top half of it to break off and crash onto his back.

Majima swoops down, landing a small distance away from the enemy group. You stand atop him, your shoulders crossed and a scowl on your face. Behind you, you can hear footsteps. Thankfully enough, it's Kichiro and Kayo finally arriving. Turning your attention back to your former opponent, it doesn't look like Manabu has moved.

The blonde girl, Kanna, looks at Tadashi, the huge leader. "What happened? He had his Fire-Style armor on. Shouldn't he have he been damn close to invincible?"

Tadashi grins. "I don't know whether or not Takeshi planned for this, but it's possibly one of the only ways I could think of to get 'around' the armor so to speak. You see, Kanna, no matter how much armor you put around the skull, the brain within it still stays as vulnerable as ever in it's cavity. Therefore, if you can rapidly shake that cavity, and cause a concussion, well... you can see the results. That's the real dangerous part of an explosion, my dear. The shockwave. Our friend Takeshi has created a bomb that harnesses that exact quality, whether or not he knows it. Fascinating."

Kichiro and Kayo skid to a stop at your side. "Is everything alright!?" Kichiro asks. His fists are clenched, and his knuckles slightly scraped. Otherwise he and Kayo seem unharmed. You imagine they took care of Toshi with relative ease. These guys are the real problem.

Tadashi claps, and calls out. "Well, the spar is over I think. Is there anything else you wanted to ask of us before you left? Or were you thinking of taking us all on now that your allies are here?"

>A. We're gonna leave now
>B. I had some questions, actually. (Write-in questions for Tadashi. He may or may not answer you.)
>C. What do you think, guys? (Ask your allies what to do)

Damn, he went out like a bitch. I guess even Jinchuriki have their limits.

Similar to Usagi back in the Chunin exams, you got him in a way that would affect just about anyone.

He really is immensely powerful. Your Bubble Bomb just happened to be capable of KO'ing him at close range. He didn't even have a chance to tap into his demon power because he didn't think he'd need it.

"What's your opinion on the defunct terrorist group Akatsuki?"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kr7pv2fin8&ab_channel=MUSASHIPROJECT-Topic

Tadashi chuckles. "Well, I can't blame you for asking that. The resemblance, well.."

The other members of his group collect Manabu, and Kanna begins to heal him.

He looks around at his allies in robes, led by a man with the Rinnegan. The huge man shrugs.

"I guess you could say there was an element of inspiration. I was a shinobi, back then, during those wars. When the dead walked the earth. For most of my life, I hated the Akatsuki. I thought they were responsible for everything that had gone wrong in my life."

His face is uncharacteristically grim. So far he's been fairly jovial, but now the giant's knuckles whiten from his fists being clenched. "I was wrong, however. It isn't their fault. Pain almost had the right idea, I think. His methods were simply.. unsound."

Kichiro barks back. "Are yours supposed to be sound, then?! Look around you, this place is totally destroyed!"

Kayo looks on, silently. She stands closely next to you two.

"What do you know about my parents?" you ask.

At first, Tadashi doesn't say anything. He merely looks at the ground somberly. Then, he slowly looks up and meets your eyes. "I know that the what happened to them is the same thing that happened to my children."

The color drains from your face. You can't help but be surprised. What does he mean? His children were murdered?

He grins, suddenly. "But that's enough for today. Come, let us make haste, my allies.."

Suddenly, Tadashi puts his hand to the ground. A colossal bat appears, larger than even Majima in scope. The enemy shinobi all leap atop it's back, and before your group can do anything, they depart in a gust of wind.

Kichiro grumbles. "We could follow them, with Majima!"

Kayo chimes in. "No.. That's not what our mission is. We've got Toshi subdued down the road with Akahiro keeping watch over him."

"Then let's get out of here." you say. "We've got a lot to report.."

That's all for tonight folks. Join in next week for Boruto quest. I'll keep trying to find time to run extra, as I know this thread was rather sort. I'll be around a bit for questions.

Ah, former dad gathering superpowered children, I guess that's a new take on the concept.
So, say we did take on all these guys, would that be a game over?
>>
>>5389979
Really happy that you included my last ditch plan from the end of last thread as one of the options, even happier that it actually fucking worked. Also welcome back Mini, looking forward to next week even though I missed this one.
>>
>>5389996
You would get whooped, at the very least. As a team there's no hope, currently.

>>5390008
Thanks anon, glad your idea carried through.

If his allies had been backing him up, they'd have pointed out the bubble to him, but since he wanted it to be 1v1 they didn't say anything.

I feel like I can vaguely recall these threads from years ago, how is Mari doing at this point because I clearly forgot.

Hey Mini, have you found the milk yet?
>>

Finally back. I missed my two week deadline by a day.

Unfortunately, it seems Mini has disappeared again. Regardless, I've archived the thread anyway, if only so that we can pick up from this point rather than having to retcon.

Here's hoping for his return next time!
