>Boom + Fake her death 2 (+1 if you secure artifacts)
>Steal cart + contact Cedalion 2

You were sitting on a rock, looking at the remains of a fire that had burned all night.
An ash mound indistinguishable from the wasteland around it.
The sun had already casted its first rays into a gray sky flecked with blue patches.
They signaled our approach to the edge of the wasteland.
The other members of the expedition had already finished their breakfasts and were beginning to move into the distance.
Preparing to pack up camp and continue the journey.

Sitting across from you was Rakta, a Chosen one of Qothos.
And your bosses had given you the order to kill her so she wouldn't hand you all over to the Inquisition when you got to the city.
It was an almost reasonable request, you too would end up in trouble if she lived.
But you weren't that kind of person, so you had decided to solve the problem another way.
Making brash decisions and praying you don't get bitten in the ass in the future.

A plan was forming in your head.
She had played the joke of stealing the car and fleeing to the ash desert.
It was an option, but it would have the entire expedition after her.
Giving the chimeras more time to reach you.
that had the positive that they would recover the artifacts.
The negative that it was still possible for them to try to kill your companions.
The other plan was to put explosives in the cart and pretend that Rakta was dead.
And it was the best idea you had.

You just had a problem getting a corpse to make it look like Rakta was dead, and you had to convince her to fake her death.
You stared at her in silence, trying to gather a resolve that would not break mid-sentence.

"What's bothering you?" she asked you like a parent who knows its child is hiding a mess they made.
"And if we use explosives?"
She sighed.
"That's your solution to all problems, isn't it? You must have more demon blood in your veins than the average elf." She said jokingly, with a tired voice.
She worried you a little when she stopped moving, thinking about what she had said.
So you told her about the plan in depth to distract her, hoping she would not clue in to the truth.

"We take a doll, we put your armor and equipment on it, we put it in the carriage and we put explosives.
The dangerous artifacts are destroyed, you pretend to be dead so you don't have to report them to the inquisition."
"And would you make me hide in that demonic abomination with your maid and butler?" she said pointing to the truck.
"Yes?"
"And you do realize I have to inform the inquisition anyway right? What you guys are doing is bad, very bad.
I have an oath to fulfill and all the people here need to be judge for this incursion.”

"Out of curiosity, what would the punishment be?"
"The scholars will probably be executed, the mercenaries and you, I don't know.... maybe a penance crusade?
Except for the abomination, David was his name? He will need to be put down.”
*shit*
“And you don’t care what happens to them, your duty is just to the church?” you continued.
She seemed a little distraught, squirming in her seat.
“Of course I…can't save everyone. okay? Happy that I admit it? I can’t d- Damn it, it doesn't matter. It's not like you understand."

her face showed irritation for a few seconds before taking on a more gentle expression.
With a sigh she started to yield.
"Okay, I'm inclined to agree with you. But that only gives you and Ghal an excuse.
The rest of the people have no knowledge of the titan, I asked, they're here out of greed.
So I'm willing to let you go, you can keep your secrets.
I will not investigate whatever you are, and you can flee in your abomination of a vehicle into the sunset. Deal? "

[You, Ghal and maybe a few other people(your choice) will not be denounced by Rakta]
>Is this what you want? (yes/no)

“Okay, with that settled we should begin with the plan.”
“Yes, about that. Your plan has a flaw, If we pretend I die in the explosion who will you stuff in my armor?
These people might be sinners but I won’t kill them for this ploy.”
“Then we pack somethings on a horse and make it run away, we say you were on it.”
“That… Would deeply hurt the image of the Chosen, I also don’t understand your urgency.
Why now?”

Well, you suppose you ought to tell her the reason you want her to pretend to be gone.
“The bosses told me to kill you… they don’t want the inquisition involved.”

She froze when you said it, a spark of understanding in her eyes.
“Ah. You are a good man, thank you for telling me. But you fail to see a simpler solution.”
She stood up, a hand in the hilt of her sword.
“I will just kill them, these sinners I can sort out myself.”
Oh no
“How is that better? You would get swarmed by guards!”
“On who’s orders? I will cut the head of the snake.”
*wait, they have snakes here?* you though to yourself, but quickly snapped out as Rakta began to move.
Cursing under your breath you tried to come up with more bullshit to keep her from committing murder.
>>
“Wait, wait, wait. If you do that Nhave will be in charge, she will imprison you and
you won’t be able to make sure the artifacts are destroyed when we get to the city.”
“That’s true.” She said stopping, “Damn it, why does it always have to be complicated? What’s the plan then?”
yes, the plan.
Plant the explosives and make a horse run away?
With a bit of luck you might save some artifact along the way.

....

The cat:

The orange shadow had been with us long before we arrived in the wasteland.
Many of us had come across it at some point, always on the edge of our camp.
Only seen at night and under wayward lunar light.
The priests who accompanied us denied the existence of such an omen.
But they always slept with holy symbols in hand, betraying the truth.

It was on the third day, about to reach the capital, that we heard her shrieking.
The fires were out and the night guards were asleep.
We insomniacs had to seek refuge in Milagros.
The Goddess of Delirium did not save us.
We felt the end coming.
And we survived the city.

When the sun first set after the escape of the winged beasts, there was a ray of hope.
Death had been outwit, fate eluded, we would live.
And for the first time we saw the omen of our doom.
It moved freely under carts and tents.
Being ignored or unseen by the majority.
But I see it.
And here I sit, writing you my last letter
My food is getting cold and my companions have moved away from me.
I know I will die tomorrow.
Under the light of the stars I have the devil by my side.
Howling my doom.
The laughter of the beasts that fly over us reinforcing its message.
I won't sleep tonight either.

Yours truly.
Edrat.

>Yes (lose 1 horse) (+1 group suspicion)
[group suspicion = 5 minimum group suspicion= 7]
The plan was launched quickly.
It was easier than you expected.
There was a discussion going on about something you didn't care too much about between the priests and some of the scholars as usual.
creating an easy distraction

You knocked the guard unconscious and with Rakta's help you brought him to a safe distance.
three cans of gasoline and a fuse was what needed to be brought.
Then you sent Rakta to steal a horse to make it look like she ran away.
Standing alone and watching the fuse shrink, you pulled out the artifact that might allow you to trade with Cedalion.
You hid it inside the truck, your little personal storage room.
And in the distance you saw the stain of that horse granted freedom.
You wished it luck and prepared yourself.

>The creator of cyborgs acquired (???) (You dont know how it works)

The explosion was more powerful than you expected.
He knocked over one of the nearby carts and several went up in flames.
A temporary deafness affected the entire expedition.
And in the confusion Rakta hid as you had agreed.
the plan was going well.

You didn't get moving until two hours later.
Only once the panic and fire had been put out did the questions begin.
After having confirmed that there was nothing left among the relic fragments.
And that the three bosses pulled you aside to yell at you.
Blaming you for not killing Rakta in time and taking possession of your artifacts.
But at the end of the day, they had no power over you, at least not here.
They vented their frustrations on you.
once the anger is over
They sent you away sullenly, ordering you not to join the scouting team in case Rakta returned.
As you started to walk away you heard one of them start to cry.
>>
[Road event 3/4]
The journey had been hard but you had made it
The forest was on the horizon.
But hope had not returned, for with the loss of the artifacts a new inevitability awaited.
A reality would be confirmed with a cry of alarm and the cawing of excitement from the beasts that circled you in the air like vultures.

In the distance was a rising cloud of dust, led by 3 armored vehicles.
The chimeras had located you, it was something that in hindsight was perhaps avoidable but no action was taken.
The expedition made their horses run, but fear had been supplanted by resignation to the situation.
It was a dangerous mission that you had signed up for and there was still only one dead, no one expected an easy ending.

Everyone was anticipating the perceived climax of your adventure, the final confrontation with enemies seen only from afar.
For many it was a confrontation with the avatars of "Evil".
Slowly they began to get closer, you would reach the forest before them.
Even if the winged beasts tried to prevent it.
The sense of urgency and terror finally set in when they realized you no longer had the tools to get rid of the vermin.
What would happen then, that you crashed, they reached all of you, or luck would prevail?
You had the protection of your truck, the rest, if you were lucky, had a tarp to protect themselves.

The truck's radio came to life, intercepting messages.
At first you thought they were communications between the chimeras, but the idea disappeared when you realized that they were talking to you.
Or at least the crew that should be on this truck.

“SQUAD-D7 //Relocate to = <Bastion> // Comply immediately “
You took the microphone and asked to contact Cedalion, identifiying yourself.
Thankfully Ghal was distracting Rakta, they were both on the back of the vehicle, looking out of the rear windows

“Find (CORONEL “Cedalion” ) = False // Occupied.by. = [Redacted] // Present{ self }: CAPTAIN “Charon” // <How may I assist you?> “

What will you do? (Roll 1d20 Bo3 ) (You can choose several)
>try to negotiate (speech)
>Get to the forest, create a forest fire (The chimeras will lose track of you, but there is a wildfire now)(auto success)
> Cast a spell/ use an item (+ X group suspicion)

We managed to get the god sword, a duplicate of the chimera schematics, and the cyborg thing. We couldn't save the religious and cultural objects, the medical equipment, the batteries, and the Radical Cutter, but at least we managed to save that much. Please return back to base and we'll see about coming back to the capital to return everything once the expedition forces return home.

About the expedition leaders trying to swipe our stuff, they would have to deal with Flora, Ghal, and Rakta. The latter of which would probably try to kill them before anyone notices. Hopefully before anyone notices. Worse case scenario we just park the truck outside the city while we go in the city to get payed, do some shopping, then fuck off back to the demon capital to do things.
When we get back to the capital, we should try working something out with Charon and Cedalion. Maybe make new types of chimeras, and modify pre-existing ones. We could use Ghal and Potato as templates to make new and old chimeras semi-like spriggans, at least stable ones so they can possibly generate Abberance and drain other of their magic juice. The former would hopefully be used to nonlethally incapacity people once they run out of aberrance.

“ACCEPTED // order#175 Priority // Request: Return != {7 h 36 min 19 s} // Order#176 & Order#177 Expiration= TRUE // < Give them hell.>”

At first you didn't think it would be so easy.
Simply asking them to please not do it should have created a negotiation.
But slowly the trucks that were chasing you slowed down and the winged abominations moved away.
You couldn't believe how easy it had been, and neither did the rest of the expedition.
Rakta panicked because she feared there was a trap.
Flora couldn't contain her laughter, having overheard your conversation.
The rest of the expedition could be seen holding their weapons long after you entered the forest.

There was a stop in a clearing.
Nobody said anything, nobody understood what had happened.
Scouts were sent out and the rest began to move at a slower pace.
You were assigned as a rear guard.
It was boring; Ghal didn't dare to talk to Rakta so close.
Flora had been given orders not to talk much about her because you didn't trust her.
And Rakta didn't dare to speak, she spent her entire journey praying and trying to avoid Lucy, despite the space being small.

...

You spent the whole day on the road.
Even surrounded by the trees and with the barren ash in the distance, no one could help looking back in fear that the chimeras were on your heels again.

Your path was only interrupted by the sighting of wild animals.
Everything was quiet, and so it continued until the scouts returned.
They reported that a Kobold camp lay ahead.
You would arrive late in the afternoon, so without having to talk about it, you all knew that you would rest near them.
Probably the fear of chimeras made them believe in the safety of numbers.

first sign of civilization was found a few hours later.
They were not signs on a dirt road or a fire break.
It was the smell of garbage that informed the group that there were people nearby.
>>
A stench of decaying matter and burnt wood permeated the air creating an unpleasant haze that made you question where exactly you were going.
The second sign of civilization to arrive was the noise, which was quickly accompanied by the sight of the settlement.
The best way to describe it would be a mountain of shacks and garbage, stacked in order to escape the filth that formed its base.
There were several dozen kobolds on the move throughout the area.
Some working, many sunbathing and the rest had approached you like kids who sees the circus come to town.
Their fascination with your expedition began to worry you when they began to climb into your truck.
They did not enter, but even with the vehicle in motion they climbed onto the roof.

The bosses and Nahave were the first to dismount to go talk to the mayor or whatever this heap of garbage had.
The expedition stopped at a reasonable distance, but it didn't prevent the lizards from swarming all of you.
Some selling herbs and food, others trying to buy them.
Lots of questions and probably some thefts.
Ghal took on the role of grumpy old man in order to drive them away.
I didn't do much.
Several of the kobolds climbed onto the roof and many wanted a tour of the interior of the vehicle.

Over time the novelty passed but not the energy of the lizards.
You were given the order to prepare camp and rest.
It seemed that you were going to spend the night here.
The food was made and the kobolds prepared for their work.
Some gathering in the forest, they didn’t explain.

The first thing you did was lock all your artifacts and other valuables in the truck's refrigerator.
That put everyone in a smaller space but in hindsight it was a good decision.
The tide of visitors to the camp was too wide.
You got out of the truck to look for Hildra and Emilia and you almost didn't find them.
The quiet you were used to had been supplanted by the energy of a schoolyard.

The first one you found was Emilia, bartering with the lizards.
Trinkets exchanged for sacks of herbs and dried mushrooms.
You talked to her for a while asking how she was doing and where she planned to go next.
"I don't want to jinx the trip, but I was hoping to get something more.
I have some money saved that I will use to travel to the south, that was the plan.
I don't know if I told you that I am wanted in the north, well I have heard good things about the south.
A Tyr kingdom in the wild lands, I'm sure they'll have some work to do. And you?"
You were talking for a while, commenting on your plans but you were not very clear about what would happen.
You wished her luck and sought out your other friend.

Hildra was sharing her drink with some Kobolds.
This wasn't so much charity as the entertainment of watching the lizards get drunk on one drink.
"This shit trip hasn't given me any trophies so I think I'll stay as a mercenary in the steel lady.
Are you considering hiring us? I can give you a friend discount." She said jokingly as she took her jar from one of the lizards.
"I'm really just going with the flow. I know it's not good and I should start thinking about quitting, but how do you do that?
How do you accept living without a single worthwhile victory?"
Before you could reply some kobolds who were definitely too young stole one of the small barrels nearby.
Hildra ran to stop them.

With the sun still visible you decided to return to the truck.
You were already exhausted from the day and wanted to rest.
You took out the computer in the cab of the truck and had some light reading on first aid.
>1d2 training
You were quiet until the sky turned orange and activity outside reached a worrying noise level.
You steped outside with Ghal, closing the truck behind you just in case.
>>
All the kobolds were outside, having some kind of concert.
All of them were equipped with bags and backpacks which seemed strange to you.
On a small podium were three kobolds, two with string instruments and one with a megaphone?
I was singing something.
but you didn't quite understand the words.
A feeling of enervation seized you, making you very dizzy.
You looked around and the rest of the people were in a worse situation.
The Kobolds cheered as if possessed and looking back you saw Ghal and the rest of the expedition doing the same.
A musical climax that sent everyone to the brink of madness.
You wanted to tear your ears out with your nails, and to your surprise you saw an elf doing it.
The mass of people began to spread in all directions and you lost control.

If we have time after breaking free, try casting dispelling magic to see if that has any effect on people, maybe steal the instruments and megaphones from the kobolds. The goddess of luck and music is up to her usual shenanigans.
If we dun low on abberance, sneak around and use soul drain on people, but only enough to not kill them and then knock them out. Repeat. Dispelling magic. Sneak. Soul drain.

Northern elves have very little to none, Ihlist is one example.
Taller and with more animal bits.

Your headache was killing you and all your muscles were tensing up.
Your vision became blurry and your stomach did not stop churning.
It wasn't magic, you knew it wasn't magic.
It was something in your head, a compulsion although you didn't know what.

You looked up to see a masochistic orgy of naked bodies.
Covered in the blood of others and their own, animals without control.
Biting each other apart as they writhed into a single mass of flesh.
A little further away you could see David surrounded by mercenaries wanting his head as a trophy.
The cyborg laughed hysterically over a small mountain of defeated opponents.
He greeted you before continuing, electrocuting the next challenger who approached.
He did not seem very affected, nor worried about the situation.

You took a few steps back and bumped into Ghal, making you fall to the ground.
Your vision was slow to focus on your friend, who was trying to tear his skin off with his hands.
He wasn't scared, just determined and focused on the task.
Luckily, he wasn't succeeding.
The rest of the groups were too far away for you to see them properly.
You vomited.

[Roll 16 + 7 DC 20 Result: Success]

You didn't know if this was a hallucination but you were the only one who was aware
Everyone around you was lost in their own desires.
Your instincts also wanted you to let yourself go.
Join the impromptu festivity that was taking place.
But you knew what you wanted, you wanted to be in control.

Spiraling Frenzy: One action will be performed for 1.5 h without stop.

The sphere expanded with you at its center.
You looked around hoping that something had changed.
And you were distressed when you saw that it had no effect.
With the exception of Ghal who had fallen to the ground unconscious.
Although that was due to him being partially a construct.

With this plan ruined you looked at the podium where the two musicians were still.
They had stopped playing and were watching the chaos unfold.
They sat at the ledge while commenting the things happening around them.
They were the guilty ones, they were the ones who knew what was happening.

You had a lapse of consciousness.
When you came back you had one of the musicians by the neck and the other one was running away to the piled up shacks.
He was holding a book in his hands.
You surveyed your surroundings, and to your disappointment the instruments were completely normal.
So you yelled at the orange kobold, ordering him to stop this.
He panted trying to breathe, trying to gasp out an answer.
"Can't." Was what he said, trying to kick you in order to escape.
"Can't... stop it."

What do you do?
>Chases the Kobold who has fled.

While eating your food you were sitting next to Ghal, and 3 kobolds.
They didn't eat, they were trying to sell you some herbs that they were collecting in the forest.
You suspected it was a drug of some sort.
You gave the nearest one some head pats and asked if that was what they did in the woods.
"Yes, there are many hidden treasures in the forest. They hired us to come here and harvest them. Good deal, I hardly remember working."

Taking advantage of his distraction, you lifted him off the ground and treated him like a child.
Congratulating him on his achievements.
Ghal dropped his food in an attempt to stop you.
But the kobold kicked you in the jaw first and then ran off.
The others followed quickly.
You suspected that you had picked it up the wrong way,
Ghal insisted that the problem was something else.

Now that I got a look at the DC, I think throwing would be better. If anything we should be able to run up and catch them both before they're able to pick themselves off the ground, and we throw hard enough the thrown kobold will be too hurt to pick himself off the ground or run away efficiently.
I'm voting throw.

Rolled 12, 8, 20, 6 = 46 (4d20)

Kobold tossing
[Roll= +7(strength) - 1(lingering injury: Light burn); DC= +6 (instinct, reaction);
Bo3 vs 1 roll.
Improvised weapon so damage is 1
>>
You saw the kobold walking away and you panicked.
What was in his hands? a grimoire? the cause of this?
"COME BACK HERE YOU LITTLE SHIT! I'LL END YOU!" You screamed at the top of your lungs.
You ran after the scaled fugitive, with his accomplice grabbed by the neck.
You wouldn't make it in time, it was too far.
You considered using a spell, but in a flash of genius you had an idea.
First you lifted your prisoner above your head.
And with all your strength, ignoring the pain of your burns, you threw it.

Once he saw you screaming through the air, you regretted it a bit.
And if he ran away? maybe you would kill them.

[Roll= 20 +7(strength)- 1(lingering injury: Light burn) ; DC= 6 + 6 (instinct, reaction); Result= Crit success]
[Crit: Double damage. 2 damage to each kobold]

The fugitive turned his head in time to scream but not to move away.
They collided and you could hear a crack from where you were.
They both slid on the ground for a while and stopped.
They tried to move but could only crawl.
It didn't take long for you to reach them.
You tied them together with some string and picked up the book.
it was titled "Psalms of the vagabond"
You opened it to look at it.
It was poetry, you turned the pages quickly and only found that.

<Psalms of the vagabond: You can spend 30 min reading this book, if you do, you can auto crit any one roll of your choice
BUT you roll 1d20 + insight, DC 12, if successful you lose 1 points from Insight permanently, failure will make the user go insane.
NPC's that use this book and succeed will additionally suffer manic episodes for 1d4 days.>

You turned to your two prisoners as the chaos around you continued.
They were staring at you like a child who knows he is going to be punished.
"What the hell did you just do? Why?" It was the only thing that came to your mind.
They looked at each other, searching for a truth that would save them.
"We... add poems to our music..."
"But WHY?!" you asked in disbelief
They, bound hand and foot, pointed to the kobolds who were pillaging your camp.

They were collecting everything they saw of value.
Among the crowd of lizards you saw a couple of elves and Emilia.
"Everyone wants money, so we increase the need. They work better looking for herbs."
"Don't joke around, that's...stupid."
"It took us a while to perfect it, now they forget about the past when the effect wears off." the orange said somewhat proudly.
"Shut up, how do I stop it?"
"I don't know." one of the prisoners said before the other head butted him to shut him up.

>"It took us a while to perfect it, now they forget about the past when the effect wears off." the orange said somewhat proudly.
>when the effect wears off
The how isn't hard. We're bigger, stronger, and could do anything to them, anything foul only their own imagination could think of without having to do much on our end. Strange and spooky how we're not affect, hmmm? When does it end? The magic that has everyone mad?
By this round about logic, it would only be fair if we stole from them too would it not? Maybe do something particularly mean? We could even do it once the madness is abated. It wouldn't be hard to explain, then these fine kobolds would have an entire convoy -not to mentioned dwarves- very displeased with their shenanigan's.

So be careful to not kill them.
>>
Note for the future: We should make an induce pain spell. It would be very useful for negotiation.
>>
>>5393078
And a ranged weapon would be nice too, never know when we are going to need to hit some from far away.
Maybe a crossbow, javelins, or even a sling?
Also bolas or a net if we want to take down someone without hurting them.
>>
>>5393075
They're small. They probably have 3 HP. So long as we dont drop them we should be fine.

>>5393078
We might not even need to. If we can upgrade our illusion sleep to manipulate all five senses instead of two or three (sight, sound, touch, sight, smell), we could do some serious fuckery while controlling the illusion into whatever we want. Like making a pants shitting shoggoth to scare someone into cooperating, scaring them away, or a great distraction.

>Go get Rakta and Flora, maybe they can help you with another plan.

This was a something created by one of the gods.
So Rakta would have to know something about it.
Qothos had to have its own eldritch literature, right?
With that hope you picked up your two prisoners and headed to the truck.

It was surrounded by several Kobolds trying to open it.
They were very insistent on seeing what treasures it contained.
You tried to convince them that there were more valuable things elsewhere, you had to kick the most stubborn ones away.
When you finished you realized that your two "prisoners" were debating which of them should kill you.
"He caught you first, do it yourself."
"He took the book from you, get it back."

You interrupted them to ask where they had gotten it.
"We stole it?"
"from where?" you asked exasperated
They looked at each other and then shrugged.
Unable to remember an answer to the simple question.
Then they continued debating which of them was responsible for killing you.
They were still tied up so you decided to concentrate on seeing if Rakta could help.

You opened the closed gates of the truck and got in.
Lucy was in the booth, looking out with Potato, amused by the chaos.
Flora seemed to be somewhat affected, but mostly it was just nervous twitches.
Rakta was sitting on the ground, staring off into space.
Lost in her thoughts.
When you spoke she reacted and asked you what was going on.
You tried to explain everything calmly.

"Shit. That book is banned in both the Empire and the Democracy."
"I understand, but does Qothos have something similar? If these are Milagros poems, do you have any way to combat them?" You asked urgently.
"Not truly, the legacies of Qothos are tokens of order and unity. Milagros is..."

It was then that Flora intervened.
"Weren't you A Chosen One? Or is that title just for show?" She said with a calm smile.
"Gag in your pride, heretic. Our fallen star doesn't need to prove anything to you."
"True, I can handle the situation on my own. A couple of spells to restrain the most violent ones and just wait it out."
With that, she looked at you.
"Our contract requires me to help, but I don't have enough aberrance and I need your permission to use magic."
(Rule 7 & 8)

"Do you have a contract?" asked Rakta.
"We'll tell you later. Shall I get to work?" The spriggan answered, laying the groundwork for the next plan.
"Not yet, I know that I have no real power, but the legacy of Qothos is within my reach... although it is dangerous."
"What is the legacy of Qothos exactly?" You asked curiously.
"Unity."

> Let Flora restrain them (Kill the bulls)

Rejecting Rakta's plan, you told Flora to kill the bulls if she needed aberrance.
Between the three of you, the creatures were slaughtered without much difficulty.
They were masses of pink meat with three legs and a single horn.
And quite large, but they took a long time to turn, so with a side blow to the neck they bled out quickly.
The stubborn beasts that even mortally wounded, tried to drag you with them.
The kobolds wouldn't be too happy about this, but they didn't have to know who had done it.

And as Flora disemboweled them to extract the precious aberration from the entrails, Rakta approached you.
"Not so long ago, I told you that you could keep your secrets and that I wouldn't come after you.
I'll extend my promise to that contract you have with her, but don't make me regret it."

When Flora finished her meal, she made preparations for her spell.
Her arcane flesh gleamed slightly from under the skin she wore.
Making it glow softly, the size of the spell larger than any you've ever seen.
and as simple as you expected.
The roots of the trees rose to the surface, rebelling against their nature.
And directed like serpents, they assaulted the most violent of those affected by madness.
They were quickly seized and thrown to the ground.
Tied together with wood, Flora made sure the thickness was enough to contain them.
They vociferated protests but could not act on their desires.

You were done with this madness, in a sense.
And you could still hear the kobolds debating what to do.
"And can't we just grab the book and run?"
"If we do we lose all the money here, right?"
"Certainly."
You interrupted these two muppets, irritated to their complete disregard for their situation.
You decided to make some vague threats that if they didn't shut up you'd let Flora fuck their asses.
They were very surprised, even more so when they saw Flora greet them.

"Okay, I kill him but I want 60% profit" said the red one.
"55%"
"65%!!!"
"What? It doesn't work like that!?"
"70%"
"60% and do it now!"
And with that, the red kobold took a bite out of the ropes and snapped them.
You went to stop him, but he jumped for your throat.

The Kobold went into a berserk mode, all you see is several rows of teeth approaching.
The crazed rascal was faster than you, and you couldn't help it.
Lucky for you, he wasn't armed.
He gave you several bites on your forearm that made you bleed quite a lot
But most of his attacks were stopped by your armor.
and little by little, you saw how his green eyes grew more engrossed with each bite.
The kobold was becoming more animalistic.

He reached the limit of what his mind could take.
He began to bleed from his eyes and stopped in mid-assault.
He was in a catatonic state, looking at you with marble eyes.
"Salt?" asked the orange kobold, who had gotten up.
The red lizard turned to his friend, smiling with tears of blood.
"Now is the winter of our jolly, made glorious summer by truth. I know the shape of magic, it has my grandmother's face."
"oh no... Hey how about we leave now, Salt? You can keep the 60%, the book does not matter that much, we still have the songs right?"
"Our dreadful marches to delightful measures, Grim-visaged war hath smooth'd his wrinkled front."
"Sure buddy, just keep walking."

The orange Kobold took his friend by the arm and started to walk away.
You finished putting on the last bandages to stop the bleeding.
Flora asked you if you were going to let them escape.
Rakta was frustrated that she didn't know what to do.

but it's a machine. the only machines I remember were our computer, the truck, the power armor, some misc. stuff in the demon city, the generator in the research lab, and the research lab we were summoned in.
Magic was created by Philgo, the god of magic as OP stated.
All machines, at least human in origin are organic and kinda alive by design.
Machines sort of run on magic, or they're the things that generate magic?

>_Game of deduction_
>What is the purpouse of magic?
This is pretty broad for me. Maybe someone with a better memory knows. We know we can use magic to kind of program things, make new spells, sustain the life of constructs like Potato, or use existing spells. Magic to some degree has been used to bind Gaia, and Philgo hates the abuse of magic, which might be related to the purpose of magic. Philgo and his siblings did bind and lock away Gaia, so maybe ( M74b/HEc ) has the right idea about magic originally being used to keep Gaia asleep, with the secondary effect of mortals having access to use magic as a byproduct of the actions of the gods. Hence why Philgo will rock your shit if you fuck around with magic too much, on the chance that the disturbance will wake mother dearest.
>>
>>5394357 (cont.)
More or less the same line of thinking? Magic was created or introduced to this world as a tool to lock away Gaia, with a (un)fortunate consequence of allowing others to use it.

That is entirely correct.

Now you know why she wants to cause a war/mass chaos.
If the machine that keeps her bound (the pillars) falter due to overuse of magic, she gets out.

[Also, I forgot to count the “Demonic” Vigor trait, You took 0 damage]

This crazy day had been caused by these two.
And you weren't going to let them get away.
You took out your polearm and tried to sneak up on them.
Rakta looked at you as if you were about to do something stupid.

You just wanted to knock them unconscious, nothing serious.
If you wanted to deliver them to the leaders of the expedition, you would need them to be alive.
That led you to wonder if they had organized the kobold expedition.
Would it be good for them to arrest their leaders?
That led you to think about the singer, was he the other accomplice?
All these questions, you found were unnecessary.
Since the orange Kobold was not foolish enough to turn his back on you without watching you.
The orange lizard took his friend in his arms and began to run.
(any plan that did not involve talking was doomed to fail)

[The orange Kobold uses "Psalms of the vagabond"]
[Autocrits action][He runs away successfully with his friend]
[Roll= ? + 6 ; DC= 12; Result= ???]

He ran away much faster than should have been possible.
he swiftly darted past the tree line and you lost sight of him.
He reminded you a bit of a silly cartoon sketch.
"Why did you think I hesitated to do something?" Rakta asked you.
"I didn't think he would dare to use psalms." you said, unsure if it was really what you thought.
You gazed at the part of the forest where the pair had disappeared.
You asked Flora if she could find them, she told you no as long as she kept her concentration on the spell.
You wondered if the orange one had made it.
Would he go insane like his accomplice?

The situation was under control
The culprits were on the run but... if they came back could you recognize them?
Probably not, that would be a problem.
But you still had a few hours until the effects wore off from other people.
So you dedicated yourself to studying first aid.
You didn't know when they were going to be useful to you, but it was better to have them.
Rakta decided to heal the wounds of those affected
Flora taunted them.

A surprise came when Rakta came to heal David.
Apparently, he hadn't been affected by the concert.
His overcooked brain was immune to mental attacks.
But he did complain about the interruption of his “glorious one man war."
He was left there, chewing on the wood that had him prisioner.
>>
The night had entered when the effects of the frenzy passed from the rest of the people.
The kobolds began to return with bags full of their loot.
And the elves and dwarfs calmed down.
Rakta informed you that there had only been five dead.
A mercenary David had mortally wounded.
Three kobolds that had been trampled in the initial chaos
And an elf that had been eaten alive during the orgy.
Flora removed the spell before they fully returned consciousness and you waited.

What you saw was a parade of groggy people, crawling into tents that weren’t fully set up
others went sleeping where they had awoken.
You tried to talk to many of them, but they just confused you.
Most didn’t want to talk, claiming to have a hangover.
And when they talked about what happened, each one told about different events of what had happened.
With stories of parties, chimera attacks and divine intervention the most common.

You got back to your truck just in time to see the kobolds deal with their problem.
Several sleepy lizards of various colors picked up their dead mates and threw them into a hole they used as a dump.
When you asked what they were doing, they answered between yawns that "their work".
A normal routine in which there was always someone to pick up.
They asked if they should pick up the dead from your expedition.

You were hesitating whether to wait for morning to speak with the leaders of the expedition.
But there were still two corpses, so it would be best to deal with the problem now.
They weren't too happy that you picked them up and forced them into an impromptu meeting.
But they still stayed awake and paid attention to you while you tried to explain what had happened.
Mentioning the psalms, but omitting that they were in your possession.
They accepted the explanation that being inside the truck had protected you.

“Its real? I though the book was a myth, like cats and feral magic.”
"The book is real, Claire. What have I done in my life to deserve this bad luck?" asked the young man when you finished speaking.
"At least there's not much permanent damage." The bearded man replied.
"But if those responsible are hiding inside that garbage heap the kobolds call a camp, we won't be able to find them."

"Maybe if we put a bounty..." the woman suggested
"We have neither money nor artifacts to barter. And if we offer a payment in the future, we will be asked for money for generations."
"Going after them directly is not an option either, we don't fit through the tunnels and we could lose more people." the young man said.
"Blackmail or threats?" suggested the bearded man
"They will shirk away the blame, all will claim to be innocent."

"So nothing is done?" you asked
They seemed reluctant to have to come to that conclusion.
Until the woman proposed another plan.
"Or we get rid of a problem at the same time as this.
The chubby elf we have arrested, we give him a description of the culprit and tell him that if he brings him to justice we will not open a file on him.
We let him into that camp deathtrap and we're off."

"That's... immoral." asked the bearded man
"I support the idea, it ceases to be our problem and he is punished." declared the young man.
They made a couple of preparations and ended the meeting.

you spent the night finishing studying first aid thanks to one of the spells.
You felt as if you had had several cups of coffee, and you successfully concentrated.
>First aid; You automatically succeed rolls to bring someone from 0 to 1 Corporeality
>>
...

The morning arrived and the camp began to be cleared after a brief breakfast.
You had time to see the three bosses and Nhave talking to the chubby elf
And the opportunity to talk to Emilia.
She didn't remember anything that had happened either.
Although, she did have her bag full of possibly hallucinogenic and/or poisonous mushrooms.
In addition to dirty cloths, a small box full of nails and a lantern.
She didn't know where they had come from.

Emilia had tried to see what else was missing in the expedition and it was a bit of everything.
tools, cutlery, fabrics, spare parts, rations.
And since the cart storing the artifacts had blown up, nothing irreplaceable was lost.
You knew that most had ended up in the pockets of the kobolds.
But it would be impossible to search each one's pockets individually.
They didn't have a centralized storage, each of them had an individual pile in the area where they slept.

The order was given and you all left.
leaving the stinking and unstable Kobold camp with Flora's admirer.
and began the last part of your way to the city of Dico.
A place that felt very distant in your life, even though you had left it a little over a week ago.

The slow trek through the forest finally ended several hours later.
the green roof of leaves opened to reveal a pure blue sky.
The undergrowth of the forest, transformed into grassy hills.
Your surroundings changing into more pastel colors until you felt very out of place with your vehicle.
You still had some time till the arrival to the city, and patches of forest were scattered between the hills.
And a question that you had asked yourself before it was raised again.
What to do with the truck?
and maybe more importantly, do you even care about getting paid?

So what will you do?
>Keep going with the truck until you get to Dico (Roll 1d20 Bo3 Speech)(The guards need convincing)
>Park the truck, hide it and continue with the expedition (what will you do with Ghal/Flora?)(Rakta will continue on foot)

Do you want to go and get paid? (Roll 1d20 Bo3 speech)

>>
>>5396508
>What exactly do you want to tell her?
what Gaia has told us.
how there's a guy out there trying to start a war between nations.
the fact that the god of magic created magic for the purpose of containing Gaia, and why he smites people for abusing it.
How war will involve copious amounts of magic and the chance of Gaia to escape.

30 imperial coins in our pocket, +144 for doing the job.

sell the Silk attire (85), rusted pistol (56), chimera skull (100), acid mist container (160), Chitin shield (38).
Purchase monster manuals for Humanoids, Beast, magic-beasts, and god-kin (300 total.
purchase Camping equipment (Camper skill becomes: +2 to all survival skill rolls) = 50 coins
buy Medkit x2 (this has 3 charges [each], add a +8 to medicines rolls if you spend one) = 50 coins [100 coins]
purchase like 20 more rations [???] coins
buy more fuel Fuel (35 coins each x 4 = 140 coins)

This would leave us with 23 coins all together.

Can we convince Rakta to stick around a little longer to teach us how to fight? Does she still owe us? Hey they're free lessons.
>>
>>5396593
I think that we should sell the servo claw instead of the acid canister, since it is incompatible with our polearm, while we could use the canister if we ever need to completely destroy a place.
Some questions for OP: How much would a longbow cost? What is the maximum draw weight we could actually pull with our physique? Do the arrows materialize whenever we need them, or do we have to buy them? If we have to buy arrows, how much for some bodkins?
>>
>>5396762
I'm on team sling.
Rocks are plentiful and you can make it non-lethal by tying two balls together and throwing at the legs.
It needs a lot of experience for it to be as good as a bow, and lead balls for it to be as dangerous. Also has a shorter range.
>>
>>5396781
Slings are dirt cheap, so we don't have to worry about them or their ammo, and tying 2 rocks together to make a takedown device is free.
However, slings have 0 AP, which means it's trash against stuff like cow sized chimeras, or armor with decent padding.
The shorter range part is not true though unless you compare it to heavy warbows.
Basically, slings are either really good or really bad with enemies, while longbows are more likely to do the job when up against the more bizarre types of enemy.
Also, special hardened steel "needle" (no clue what that means) bodkins will penetrate decent plate armor, according to wikipedia.
But we really don't have to sweat about the choice since we have infinite inventory space, and we can apparently pull whatever weapon we have instantly from our pocket.

35?
>What is the maximum draw weight we could actually pull with our physique?
Long bow 1d4 piercing damage (Range: Long)
>Do the arrows materialize whenever we need them, or do we have to buy them?
I should not let you materialize them, but your inventory + skills is already a lot to take into account.
Don’t want to run more numbers, so don’t abuse it.
Standard ammunition is free, special types depends on what they do and what weapon.

>>5396781

>Simple Servo Claw (DC 10) (Lose a hand) (+5 strength to rolls using the claw)(1d2+3 crushing damage)(this mod cannot be unequipped)
This makes me wonder if we can upgrade the servo claw to advanced to upgrade it's strength bonus and crushing damage. If anything if we can enchant it with whatever was used for our Poleaxe, it might arguably be deadlier. Food for thought.

>Anon: Can we attack the simple servo claw to the forearm of the power armor, or add an arm to it then attach it to the back of the power armor like an extra hand? Like tech priests from Warhammer 40k with their giant robot claws.

>OP: The claw is supposed to replace a hand, it can be installed in the power armor but you lose the ability to grip well.
(Two-handed weapons cannot be used.)
The tech priest idea i have no clue on how to balance.
Multi attacking will not be a thing so maybe choose one when attacking?
We get there when we get there.

>Anon: What if instead of multi-attacking with the claw arm, it's used for grappling scenarios like choking someone out, stealth knockouts, over powering someone. Situational uses but not a direct damage dealing option.

Yeah, but I must endorse that the acid canister would be really handy as a WMD, since it is 1 damage every 20s for around 3 Days, over a large area.
>>
>>5396872
The thing is, there's nothing stopping people from just running away from the acid mist, and they first need to stay inside the mist for at least 20 seconds before receiving the 1 damage.
>>
>>5396875
Don't we have a spell that makes people slip?

Still, you'd just need a barricade to hold for 2 minutes to kill most life forms, and since we have demonic vigor we can fight inside the mist with no negative effects.
Imagine cracking it inside a large building right after boarding up the entries, or opening it while people are asleep in a campground and tying the tents shut.
>>5396881
Also that.
The total damage would be so humongous as to kill literally anything that doesn't have acid/damage resistance.
>>
>>5396887
It's a very situational tool that's very useful for that "one" scenario.

Here's some more examples:
>Going through a hazardous place, don't want to deal with enemies
>Want to sabotage a meeting
>Literally the mine where there's the drilling equipment. We could get rid of almost all possible enemies without even entering.
>Very effective smoke screen for fleeing
>Ultimate form of concealment, gives us the advantage when inside the mist, for fighting or other crimes.
>Will absolutely nuke low corporeality vermin and pathogens
>Anathema to regenerating and/or high surface area creatures (think flesh halls)
>Area denial for days
>Can kill or weaken any creature, no matter how great, if you can hold it in for long enough (assuming it isn't acid proof, which most aren't)
Just because it won't instantly kill doesn't mean it's useless.

I dont like how the acid can destroy loot, our loot, and hurt allies. We can always grab more acid canisters later by visiting the demon capital.
Right now we should probably focus on acquiring supplies, and maybe chartering a boat so we can get those supplies the general needs for our plans to drill deep enough to pump water.

Also I really like the Ark and its concept. Have you ever heard of the game called SOMA? Spoilers if you care.
So this is my butchered interpretation from what I vaguely remember. Your classic apocalypse scenario. Humanity tried to fix it, they fucked up. There was a disease or some bullshit and they made a machine or machine goo to fix everything. That got fucked up too. The grey goo tried to save everyone by assimilating everyone. Fast forward a bit and humanity made some last ditch effort to save themselves by copy and pasting millions of minds onto a satellite machine called -now get this- the Ark. All the people copies are "safe" on the ark, but all the original flesh bodies are still kinda dead/dying.
Tl;dr the Ark in SOMA has a shit ton of A.I.'s and I thought it would be cool if we find A.I. copies of some of the humans in this world.

You knew that trying to enter the city with the truck would attract a lot of attention.
And you really didn't want to deal with the consequences just to keep an eye on the vehicle.
Leaving the rest of the expedition pass you, you took a detour into an area of tall brush and trees.
You hid the truck with branches and left Ghal in charge of the truck, Flora and Lucy.
It was half an hour's walk away and it would be good if someone kept watch.
You didn't trust Flora in the city either, remembering the urban buildings made of living wood.

The last part of the path you did on foot with Rakta
so you tried to talk to her about what she was going to do.
"I know you don't approve of me condemning this expedition, but it is something I must do. I have an obligation to Qothos and the world."
"That's the thing. If this gets out of hand it could cause a war and an event like that could wake up Gaia." you refute her

"We've had a few wars, albeit small compared to the Great War. Don't tell me what another one of your truths is for having 'contacted' Gaia?"
"It is, Gaia is the goddess of life and change. And if we wake her up she will start changing the world and we may not survive."
"The world is always changing, you can't stop it. And what kind of version of the All Mother is that?
She's not evil, I'll admit that not even her own children painted her as a caring person, but she doesn't want to destroy us.
I think your "interaction" with her fried your brain a bit. Maybe that's why you resisted the psalms."

"No, no, no. Her children locked her up for this reason and-"
"Stop," Rakta cut you off visibly annoyed. "I don't know what you heard but shut up.
I won't allow those accusations against Qothos, I'm going to report that expedition and you won't talk anymore or I'll have to break my promise and report you too."
"But-"
"NO! The only way to stop me is for you to kill me.
The artifacts may have been destroyed but if we let these criminals go unpunished there will be more going to the city.
And then you will have that war you fear so much. So what will you do?"

you looked at her in silence.
and her anger did not dissipate
"You all assume my job is easy, but the tough decisions come and you try to avoid them."
The rest of the path was walked in silence.
The guards at the gates let you in without stopping when they realized who Rakta was.
"Goodbye and good luck." Was the Chosen one's farewell.
And she went to the cathedral that was in the center of the city.

You considered going directly to collect your payment, but you wanted to take a literal weight off your shoulders.
You went to the pawn shop that Emilia had shown you on the last visit to the city.
Hidden behind an alley and with almost no sign that this was a store.
The sound of the bell as you entered was followed by the merchant's notice that he was now going downstairs.
That made you look up, and you saw the Gheist floating in the air, organizing a shelf four meters high.

"Ah, you're Emilia's friend. How's that bastard? Will she visit me soon to give me more of her crap?"
"Are you always this affectionate?" you asked as you started to pull out what you wanted to sell.
"Only for those who are not a pain in my ass. Now, what can I do for you, sir?"

Sale:
30 + 85(silk) + 56(R. Pistol) + 100(skull) + 38(Shield) + 30(Instruments) + 160 (acid mist) = 499

"Good items, I think I could even restore the pistol."
"Really?"
"Come back this afternoon with enough money. Firearms are not very popular, but there's always some idiot interested on them. It'll sell quickly."
"Now that you mention it, why aren't firearms popular?"
"Empire restrictions and charm magic really screw users up.
In the Great War the demons tried to use Gatling guns. A single spell from the enemy and you had those things aimed at your allies,
and if they manned them themselves they got targeted. Late in the war they made chimeras so firearms got discontinued.”

You left the store and passed through the market.
You bought some things you wanted and left the fuel for after you got paid.
You weren't sure if you were going to go for the pistol.
You would think about it.

All books = 300 (Books) + 100(medkid*2) + 20(Rations) + 35(bow) = 455
>Result: 44 coins
>Monsterkiller (All); +1 damage to all types of creatures
My notes tell me you already own Camping equipment

With your purchases almost finished you headed towards the offices of the Seeker clan.
It had been almost two hours since you had arrived in the city, so they should have prepared your payment by now.
You entered the modest facilities and addressed the receptionist.
You explained who you were and why you were here.
"Ah, you're from THAT expedition..." He leaned a little closer to you and started whispering "You should leave-"
Before she finished speaking, she froze.
And a hand was placed on your shoulder by someone behind you.

Was it Rakta, accompanied by Rakta?
*Fuck* You thought to yourself
There were two Chosen one here, one of them missing an ear but otherwise identical to the Rakta you had known.
"You are required upstairs." Said one of them with a neutral expression
You looked up the stairs and there was a third Rakta there.
You knew they were not the one you had known because her armor was somewhat different.
But their faces and gestures were exactly the same.

They escorted you upstairs in silence, and you noticed that the building seemed empty except for the receptionist.
They guided you to the same corridor where those crappy chairs were, and the door to the room where you had been hired.
"They're waiting for you inside. We'll wait here." I inform you of one of them.
So you walked in with a bit of trepidation, your mind tracking who the person on the other end might be.

The room was well lit by a closed window.
The wood floor was a light brown color with the exception of the center of the room, there was a large stain of dried blood.
Not enough that someone would have died here.
There was also a chair waiting for you and a table.
In it you saw a glass of water, a bottle filled with a green liquid and a small leather bag.
In addition to various papers and a compass.
Behind the table, a Gheist floated against the wall.
He was very quiet during your entrance.
And in the center of the table was Salazar, the inquisitor.

"This situation gives me a bit of déjà vu to our first meeting.
Anyway, excuse the measures I had to take, the last time I tried to talk to you, you jumped out a window and ran away, very rude."

He spoke with an affable tone, although you could tell there was some irritation in his words.
"Please sit down. Allow me to introduce my fellow inquisitor, Sarayud." He said pointing to the Gheist, who just nodded.
"And before we begin, here you have. What the organizers of the expedition owed you." He said he pushing the leather sack.
You took it with a bit of hesitation, but really was just the money.
[144 coins acquired]

"Your bosses have already informed me of what happened on the expedition, no details were left behind.
And interestingly enough, I have received another report of this expedition, but from Rakta #492.
And even more fascinatingly, this report does not mention you at all. "
You were looking at each other in silence, you didn't know what to say and Salazar wanted explanations.
When this conflict became obvious, he continued speaking.

"To tell you the truth, I know that neither of them is the truth, and I don't want to torture a Chosen One to find out how much they are fictitious.
Not that it matters much either, because I asked you, you ungrateful human, that if you did not die you should at least lie low.
But no, you go and do this!"
The mask of calm cracked a bit.
Salazar took a deep breath and pulled himself together.
You could see how his hands were shaking, although you knew it wasn't because of fear.

"What are you planning? There's been a lot going on, and I don't feel comfortable letting you go free anymore.
I’m sorry, it's my fault for trying to be a good person, I should have killed you the first time I saw you.
But now we're here and you're going to tell me what you plan."

Instant +1 supporting. I don't trust myself to ask good questions, but what do you think we should ask?
Would the Inquisition, but more specifically Salazar and his group be willing to work with us?
Can we get some confiscated good from confiscation box (demon tech stored away, confiscated swords, armor, etc, aid).
Beyond some creatures, chimeras, and rot-eaters, we've not killed a single person here. Shouldn't he give us the benefit of the doubt, and instead of trying to second guess himself he should use this as an opportunity to collaborate with us to prevent further disaster?

Yeah, mixing the help through goods with the help through services might be a good idea. And it also could mix with your first question of whether they are willing to work with us.

So maybe something like: Are you willing to directly help me, or would you just turn a blind eye again? If we work together and keep in contact, there's less chance either of us will make a mistake. Support from Rakta 492 (we need to give her a nickname), goods, information, anything would help.

The statement
> I know what I'm going to say sounds crazy, but I hope that as inquisitors you know enough lore best kept hidden to believe what I say.
> I want to stop Gaia's plans to start a war through her cult and agents, which would unleash large quantities of magic and free her. Because I know that she would reshape the world and most people wouldn't survive that. During the the expedition I already stopped two of her attempts to free parts of herself or start a larger conflict.
> She has been contacting me. You probably already know why, she was the one that convinced humans to be brought to the world in the first place. But I refuse to be her pawn, genociding the entire world for her freedom is just not right.
>I also want to try and make so the chimeras become an actual civilization and disarm them from the most dangerous technology. They been carrying out their war because it's what they have been made to do, and only I have enough influence with them to try reshape them into peaceful creations. You may think that destroying them is a better option, but there is enough demonic technology in their hands to break the pillars if they activate it, and they are willing to do it out of spite if nothing else.
>So that's it Salazar, your choice: Kill me and let the world end or let me try to stop this madness.

The Q&A
> Considering how I'm not dead yet that means you're giving me the benefit of the doubt and are willing to consider working together. I've answered some of your questions, and it should be fair that you answer some of mine. I Should reiterate to you though, that I have no ties with the long dead humans of the past beyond being of the same race, and I hold no ill will to what happened. As far as I can tell everyone suffered for it.
> Are you willing to directly or indirectly help me, or would you just turn a blind eye again? If we work together and keep in contact, there's less of a chance either of us will make a mistake. If long range communication is an issue, I can help with that if you don't have a solution. (haggle and purchase the broken walkie talkie at the market) Perhaps you could even make me an honorary Inquisitor or Interrogator so I can bypass certain social and situation situations, not that I would abuse such power mind you. Though, if you don't trust me with such responsibilities or have the social etiquette to maintain such a title, perhaps you could have Rakta #492 act as my minder. Both to legitimize the fake inquisitor person, to keep me in my place if I act out of line, or to put me down if you think I'm too much of a threat.
> The Gaia Cults, Metis, his noble family. I know you've been keeping an eye on them, or at very least have been trying. What can you tell me about them? A Share in information would make collaborating easier, and gives me something to keep an eye out for should I ever find clues to pursue.

Pic related I wonder if we can make a suppressor for that pistol.
>>
>>5397455
I just realized that I should have said "she was the one that conviced an emperor to summon humans tot his world" instead of "she was the one that convinced humans to be brought to the world". The old one gives the impression that humans came willingly after she negotiated with them instead of what I meant to say.
>>
Soo why do we propose work with the inquisition when our goal is to return to the capital and rebuild the Federation? To spread order, stability and civilisation to the unwashed masses. Didnt we promise Cedalion and the others to return and bring the relics? Or you want to go the other way because that Raktussy got you actin unwise. Cause if we mention our Rakta they might use her to try control us.
>>
>>5397960
We do plan on rebuilding the federation, but we got reform the chimeras to be an actual independent people instead of retarded children led by their three older brothers that are waiting for their dad to come back with the milk.
But first we need to stop Gaia from destroying the world, it's where the federation is after all.
So basically the difference between working with someone and working for someone. Our goals kind of align.
As for getting rid of the strongest tech the chimera have, that's kind of necessary to make sure someone don't accidentally launches some magic nukes and free Gaia anyway.
>>
>>5397960
We can do both. We can "work with the inquisitor" instead of working under. We're both using each other to further a similar goal: that being stopping Gaia from (not on purpose) killing everyone.
>>
>>5397651
I think, maybe we should withhold talking about us being a human or related to humans, in case these Rakta and his fellow inquisitors dont know.
>>
>>5398298
The Raktas are outside the room, and given how Salazar is talking about our first meeting, I think he already told Sarayud about us.
>>
>>5398492
Better safe than sorry yeah?
We could try to ask if Salazar has told anyone about our identity or not.
>>
>>5398533
Yeah, it's a good idea.
It's just the more we talk and ask, the bigger the update will be, and the more chances that OP will cut some parts for it to not be a giant monster.
>>5397455
But I'll trust him.
>Ask Salazar if Sarayud know about our whole situation first
>>
>>5397651
OP I need more tomboy abs. I cant live without it.
>>
>>5398692
You just had 3 new Raktas show up, and by the numbering there should be aorund five hundred.
How many more do you want?
>>
>>5398701

>>
The situation made you a little nervous.
Many thoughts stirred in your mind, competing to be the first to be spoken.
But you had clear objectives, and Salazar, in your opinion, was a reasonable person.
At least compared to some lunatics that were loose in this world.
But first things first.
"How much does Sarayud know about my situation? And the Chosen ones? Do I speak freely?"

With that question you managed to get an ephemeral smile from the inquisitor.
"I appreciate your concern. This thug knows everything," he said, turning to his partner "The Chosen ones know nothing, I might explain later. Speak freely."
The gheist did not move during the exchange.
You didn't know if that had to inspire confidence.

>"I know what I'm going to say sounds crazy, but I hope that as inquisitors you know enough lore best kept hidden to believe what I say.
>"I want to stop Gaia's plans to start a war through her cult and agents, which would unleash large quantities of magic
and free her. Because I know that she would reshape the world and most people wouldn't survive that. During the expedition
I already stopped two of her attempts to free parts of herself or start a larger conflict.

"Stop right there. Neither of the two reports I've received mentioned anything like this. I'm not even going to question why you know so much about Gaia, but I want you to explain what happened."
You gave a brief description of both incidents, omitting that one of them was caused by you.
It would not be nice to say that you removed a piece of Gaia from her prison.
But in your defense, you didn't know what was going to happen.
Salazar listened carefully and took a couple of notes about what you were saying.
"A copper for your thoughts, Sarayud?"
"That you have more problems than you thought."
"Thanks mate, please continue." he indicated you.

> Gaia has been contacting me. You probably already know why, she was the one that convinced humans to be
brought to the world in the first place. But I refuse to be her pawn of her, genociding the entire world for her freedom of her is just not right.

"And I thought the Inquisition did a good job of censoring." Said the gheist in a mocking tone very clearly directed at his associate.
Salazar just snorted in reply.
>>
>I also want to try and make so the chimeras become an actual civilization and disarm them from the most dangerous technology.
>They have been carrying out their war because it's what they have been made to do,
>and only I have enough influence with them to try to reshape them into peaceful creations. You may think that destroying them is a

>So that's it Salazar, your choice: Kill me and let the world end or let me try to stop this madness.

"I don't believe it, the bloody human gives me an ultimatum." Salazar said, raising his hands to his face.
"It serves you well. And you, human, have you gone mad? Rebuild the confederacy? with the chimeras?"
"You know how humans are, Sarayud." Salazar tried to defend you, although you didn't know why.
"He's planning to build an empire with himself as the only citizen. It would be funny if there wasn't a risk of the nuclear fire coming back."
"Those monsters would have used it centuries ago if it still existed."
"They haven't had a human for centuries, too, and look what he's done. We have to kill him." Sarayud rebuked him.
"The human is bluffing, I already offered him death and he ignored me. With that same bottle of poison."
He said pointing to the little green bottle on the table. "If you try to kill him, he will fight, and will he? The Chosen ones?"

You were amazed by the conversation, and you asked something you didn't understand.
"What you're worried about is… nukes? Not that Gaia has a house-sized fragment in the middle of the city?"
They both fell silent, Salazar indicating that the gheist should be the one to answer.
"The Gheist are prepared, we will survive if Gaia escapes. My only goal is that the secret of nuclear fire is forgotten."
"What this sociopath is trying to say is that he's too stupid to realize what's coming." Salazar said accusatorily.
"We are the perfect children of our father, we are not limited by your fear of adversity!"
"The only thing you're limited about is your attention span, you snobbish bastard."
After that last insult they both fell silent.

"Even if he says he's going to dismantle the most dangerous technology, we can't believe him. He's human."
"And I have to agree with you." Salazar replied, looking into your eyes.
>>
The silence that had remained was uncomfortable, you were waiting for something to happen.
but no one moved a muscle
So you decided to start talking, to see what happened.
>Considering how I'm not dead yet that means you're giving me the benefit of the doubt and are willing to consider working together.
> I've answered some of your questions, and it should be fair that you answer some of mine.
>I Should reiterate to you though, that I have no ties with the long dead humans of the past beyond being-

"Stop," Salazar said, interrupting. "Get to the point, please."

> Are you willing to directly or indirectly help me, or would you just turn a blind eye again?
> If we work together and keep in contact, there's less of a chance either of us will make a mistake.
>If long range communication is an issue, I can help with that if you don't have a solution. (haggle and purchase the broken walkie talkie at the market)
> Perhaps you could even make me an honorary Inquisitor or Interrogator so I can bypass certain social and situational situations, not that I would abuse such power mind you.

Salazar started laughing, something that soon gave you the impression that he was having a panic attack.
Sarayud didn't seem to care about his partner, but at least he answered you.

"#492 has been compromised, by you. The fact that she hid you means she could hide more from us.
We can't let her go on this kind of mission alone. And the idea of you being an inquisitor is ridiculous, just a group of three inquisitors can give you that rank.
The title of assistant to inquisitor, although it exists, we cannot give it to you because..."
The gheist stopped talking, hesitant for the first time in his speech about him.

"Because Sarayud has his position for political reasons and I am being investigated for treason. Neither of them has real power and it is your fault."
Salazar said, recovering from his nervous breakdown.
"How is it my fault?"
"I'm accused of treason because after I let you go on our first meeting, there were sightings of humans.
And the truth is that it's my fault, they just have to prove it.
And Sarayud was given the position of him because he was the son of someone important, and now that the situation is tense they have taken almost all authority away from him."
>>
"And the three Raktas?" Asked
"They have me on "house arrest", I didn't ask for them. The only reason they aren't in this room is because this sociopath is here."
"This psycho is the only one who has an ounce of control here." Said the Gheist
"The only reason you are here is because you want to show yourself that you deserve the titles you have.
And that is not shown by doing what is most convenient, it is done by fighting for what is right."

> The Gaia Cults, Metis, his noble family. I know you've been keeping an eye on them, or at least have been trying.
>What can you tell me about them? A Share in information would make collaborating easier, and gives me something to keep an eye out for should I ever find clues to pursue.

"I don't know anything about Metis, the man doesn't exist.
The noble family is a lie, the house Niven told me you were in belonged to someone else, who we found dead in the cellar."
That caught you by surprise.
Though you had a vague recollection that there wasn't a single picture of Metis in the house he said belonged to him.

"And regarding Gaia worship it's clearer. I know he's been impersonating you, but the worst thing he's done is start spreading this around."
Salazar produced a scroll from his robe and passed it to you.
Inspecting it you recognized what it was very quickly.
"They are schemes to create summoning circles, the first thing that comes to mind is that they are summoning humans.
There are many dukes, collectors and slavers who would kill for this.
But this ones have been tampered, they are summoning something else.
The inquisition has had four cases of different , unrelated people using this.
The only thing we find are ruins and corpses of those who were waiting for a human slave.
We don't know what it is yet."

You wanted to inspect it more in detail but Salazar took it away from you.

"And now that?" asked Sarayud "Are you going to let him go? You have to stop him."
"And what do I do? I've run out of cards to play with."
"Coward." Said the gheist
"I know, I tell myself every day."
"I should call the three Chosen Ones, so they can kill all of us.
One for demon, another for traitor, and the last one for negligence."
"Nobody stops you Sarayud, you have the rank of inquisitor. You know how to act like one, right?"
The tyr scoffed, now fumbling with his holy symbol.

What will you do? (Roll 1d20 Bo3)(Speech?)

>Say something else
I'm calling the geist's bluff right now. They are most certainly not prepared for Gaia. Pretty sure if they had their god of order to help things would be better, but hes not here right now, and that leaves only the god of Magic who can be reliably counted on, and the goddess of the kobold who is doing who knows what. In addition with the potential war, dealing with Gaia, and Metis, their hands are tied.

>Offer them a deal
Salazar might be executed and Sarayud might have his title revoked. Killing us might solve a short term problem, but wont solve the long term. We are most certainly equipped to help them out. Just saying if they want to kill us we're still very much armed and willing to defend ourself.

>Oh please, the Gheist will survive? How do you think you will? It took three gods to stop Gaia and her Will of the World before, how will 2 do it? It took summonig humans to stop her giants, and she was the one that put that idea on the emperor's head. Fucking actual hell, humans aren't even the real demons, those were her servants that got killed in the God War.
>And that is if Malegius will even help, given that Gaia's wanted to tell me a message that she forgives her, so she might just comvince her to switch sides for shits and giggles? I've met Kobolds caring her little Psalms, that thing is pure madness. Whoever wrote it is not someone that thinks two steps ahead. Do you think your god can defeat his sister and mother, fix the world, and make a new prison alone?
>You think the god killing nukes were bad? I've learned a human spell while exploring that creates an ever exanding black hole that consumes everything, and eventually only could be stopped by the god of magic after growing enough. It starts at the cost of 20 aberrance, that's around a very small herd of bulls. How quickly do you think the chimeras can gather 200 sacrifices when they realise that they are going to lose the war? Specially if you send people to march through their territory?
>One of the things that were holding them back is thinking that Rot Eaters were still humans. They started putting all of them in a stadium, and it became a massive self canibalizisng mass of flesh. And I've killed. Now before you think I did it because I wanted to usurp the title of last human alive, which I won't since they wanted to freeze and clone me instead of making me their leader, I did it because that mindless creature was somehow amassing divinity. I want you two to think WHY a giant GRAVEYARD next to the blast zone of a DEAD GOD and a PIECE OF GAIA that is basically WORSHIPPED by the chimeras would be becoming a god. Hint: some Tyr heretics think they can do the same thing, but not by accident.
>Yah, I did not want a cannibal roteater to be a living mockery of gaia's ex-husband. Specially because that's an extra god around to stop.
>I don't give a shit about making me the next president or demon lord or whatever the fuck you call that. I just want to give a chance to the people of this world to heal from their scars, and that includes the chimeras.
>So I'm goign to tell what is going to happen: you are going to help me get out of here, and I'm going to stop this madness even if I'm hunted down. Than you two will decide if you are going to let your idiot superiors sniff their farts while the world dies or if you are going to come with and stop this.
>So yeah, help me run the fuck away and stip this. I also rrcommend coming with me, better to report to your bosses since it seems they would rather sniff their own farts than do sonething productive.

That looks like a warcrime. I love it.

Plus illusions and charms don't really work on us, and they don't appear to be armed. Sure they could try and call in the Rakta's but we've gone invisible before and this ain't our first rodeo.

I had an idea. If we went fishing and killed some fish, we could recover some amounts of aberrance in maybe a day or two, plus earn some side money. Then again that would cost us time since we have to stop Metis and his bullshit. Problem is trying to find him. As unlikely as it might be, maybe we should pray to the god of magic or luck for advice, or directions?

Hidden in a small forest plot, Ghal read books he had found in the Ark.
A distraction to the monotonous uncertainty of when the human would return.
It was a moment of calm in which he could remove his disguise, letting his gaunt appearance feel the sun.

This flash of quiet interrupted by the creature he hated the most.
“Leave me alone you abominable charlatan.” He said at the approaching nuisance.
“Don’t be like that, I just wanted to talk. “ Flora said with a innocent smile and open arms.
“And I gave you the order to stay away from me, so obey slave.” He said in a dry tone
“We are stuck here till he comes back, and I can’t really wander very far, right?”
“As long as the truck is visible, you can be there.”
“Not great, but since I’m already here I wanted to ask-“ She said stepping a bit closer to him.
“No, leave me alone.” He spoke with tamed anger in his voice.
She bowed to him and left, murmuring a few insults under her breath.

Welcome ladies and gentlemen to our program, I'm OP your host of the day.
Today we have three participants.
A round of applause for Salazar, Hildra and Cedalion respectively.
On today's show they will be answering some questions.
If they know the answer they get points and if they make a mistake they will lose them.

First question on the board:
>>5399061: So why'd they make Rakta so hot? Was that an accident or was that on purpose?

Salazar: "They are clones of a biological daughter of Qothos, so I guess it's accidental that players find her attractive."

Wrong answer! -5 good boy points for you.

Salazar. "WHAT!!!"

Hildra: "Is it on purpose because... it's a propaganda tool?"

Wrong answer! -5 good boy points for you.

Cedalion: "..."

The correct answer is: It's on purpose because the players created it that way in a distortion game.
Next question.

>>5399079: What is southern Tyr kingdom doing right now?

Hildra: "Political secession from control of the Empire"
Correct answer! 10 good boy points for you.

Salazar: "How do you know that?"
Hildra: "They are importing mercenaries, they pay poorly but it's easy work."

Next question.
>>5399120: Was it the southern or northern elves with the more human genes?
>>5399150: Southern elves got HUMAN'D, the northern got spared.
And the public takes the lead!
Correct answer! 10 good boy points for you.

Follow-up question.
>>5399120: Did the tyr get human genes, or did they remain mostly pure?

Cedalion: "The Tyr have more noticeable hybridization changes but the genes are recessive."

Wrong answer! -5 good boy points for you.
Salazar: "Any hybridization was the product of rape, so they did not reach maturity.
The cases that were not due to rape were exterminated by the inquisition. There are no humans genes in the Tyr genome."

That is correct! 10 good boy points for you.
next question

>>5399180: Are 3 Chosen ones enough to kill the player?

Cedalion: "No."
Hildra: "Definitely."
Salazar: "I don't know, I prefer not to depend on those things."

That answer is [WÌ2XæûÛ š yhô
óÏù¯iÙÈo¦üΆ p~`Æõ‘csÔ×/P

Next question.
>>5399197: Is Philgo a bro?
Salazar: "He is a perfectionist, he created the elves and he was dissatisfied, so he created the Gheist.
But he hasn't abandoned us either, so it depends on his mental state of the day if he will be a bro or not."

Correct answer! 10 good boy points for you.

Well, this is all the time we have for today.
Stay tuned for more and have a wonderful day.

I got to study today so I'll probably not be able to rewrite it.
But my suggestion is to make mine way less confrontational and cut parts of giving even more details of things that we did.
So no mention of the resurecting the external god, since you said that depending on the group the other gets really mad, or the exesitence of the will of the world or the original demons.
Instead of Insulting Milagros, say the she was neutral last time, and Gaia is trying to get her support.
We can still say that the chimeras were holding back because they thought roteaters were humans and didn't want to destroy the world when it still had hope.
Last proposal would be like, we still are willing to extend offer the deal for help and we are willing to defend ourselves.
>>
>>5399623

>Well, this makes everything much more difficult. At least I was right thinking you were reasonable Salazar, I got to apologize for running away at the cathedral, I knew way less back then and was pretty much scared out of my mind of getting executed.
>Before you think that I put a spell on Rakta’s mind or converted her to be a heretic or something, I actually helped her. She attacked me thinking I was a cultist, so I took her down on one strike, and then saved her life to patch her up. Check her left abdomen if you do not believe me. I simply told her what I was doing, and she helped me stop Gaia’s plan. She didn’t believe me at first, but when the crazy things happens in front of you, people tend to change her mind. I refused to kill her like the expedition leaders wanted, faked her death and blew up the artifacts that needed to be hidden, because there were too dangerous to be in anyone’s hands.
>She has been incredibly competent, and she is way more loyal than you might think. There has been not one moment she has not tried to follow the teaching of Qothos, she has questioned me all the way and even gave suggestions that help the goals of the inquisition, that I would have not thought of. And it is exactly because she would have been “compromised” as you put it that she would make for a good minder, since she would not report this to your superiors.
>I doubt that the Gheist are truly prepared. Even if you can hide in some pocket dimension and wait out Gaia to transform the world, you would still have to deal with an incredibly hostile existence afterwards, probably full of creatures like giants and spriggans, if it would even be possible to breath and grow food on it.
>And that is if Philgos can even hold back alone against Gaia. He may have been prepareing for this day, but he had Qothos help’s last time. And she is attempting to convince Milagros to join her instead of being neutral this time. By what little I have gathered about her, there is as much chance of her doing that as any other option.
>>
>>5399715
>You may not believe me, but I’m saying the truth. I just want the people of this world to heal from their scars, and this includes the chimeras. If I wanted to remake the federation as the only citizen, I would have just stuck around the capital, since that’s a deal I was offered: To be hidden in some bunker while they try to win a war that should have ended a long time ago. The chimeras, they are holding back, the few leaders are either insane or hold on to hope. Some think that rot eaters are still humans, others are trying to create new ones. And if they do decide to destroy the world out of spite, nukes aren’t the only weapons of mass destruction they have.
>For example, I learned a spell from a machine while exploring: Spatial Torsion. It’s an ever expanding black hole, that becomes harder to dispel the bigger it become. Eventually, only Philgos would be able to stop it, and I do not know what would happen if it grew even more beyond that point. And honestly? It’s incredibly cheap for what it offers, and it can start out more powerful the more aberrance you put it in. The chimeras could very well capture a hundred of POWs during an invasion to fire a couple fully powered ones, not only breaking the pillars but making Philgos have to deal with even more problems at the same time.
>I will not pretend I know anything about inquisition politics or your superiors, but I doubt that having the Chosen kill you would solve anything, other than avoiding being alive to see the apocalypse. I very much doubt it would even remove the stigma or shame of what happened so far.
>So the deal still stands, let me go and I’ll do everything in my power to save the world. Help me or not, something has to be done to turn this back. I don’t know how to help you avoid execution or to have your title revoked, other than just running away and trying to prove it was the right think when this is all done, but I would really rather you stay alive. But whatever you choose, know that I can defend myself, have plenty of tricks up my sleeve, and more than capable of making a window to jump out of.
There, hopefully my autism has been appeased and I can try to finish the essay I should have been writing instead.

lmao no comment. So long as we don't say that humans created the black hole spell (because I'm not 100% sure if they did) and we don't antagonize these guys I'm fine. I'm more for a diplomatic approach then politely calling them cunts.
>>
>>5400032
I didn't really say that humans made the spell, only that the chimeras had acess to it. Bit if you don't like it still, we can cut that part of there being other WMD, it's not really important.
I don't see how the rewrite could be calling them assholes instead of being diplomatic, but I didn't think that the original talk about the black hole was a threat, so I'm not the best judge for it.
If you have any more ideas on what to change, it would be welcome.

“I understand a human mind works differently than mine. I can forgive that.”

>[Try to explain the situation with Rakta]
Salazar once again, raised his hand to eye level to interrupt you.
“I’m sorry but I need to interrupt you again. We know you didn’t charm her with magic because we checked.
And she is not a heretic because she is a Chosen one, she lives for Qothos in a scale no one can understand.
But she withheld information from us, the most likely outcome is for her to become a bodyguard for a bishop or field work with much less independence.”

“And it is exactly because she would have been “compromised” as you put it that she would make for a good minder, since she would not report this to your superiors.”
“Are you implying that,” Sarayud started talking with disbelieve in his voice “That we hide the existence of 492 from other inquisitors and use her as a private agent?”
"I am already a traitor, pending proof. I could do it." Salazar quipped.
"That's a conversation for later."

>[doubt that the Gheist are truly prepared ]
Sarayud was visibly angry with this statement you made.
“I’m probably the first gheist you have seen in your life, you know nothing of us.
And if you cross the ocean you can find civilizations that have survived Gaia, we will do the same. Now stop trying to bullshit me.”

>[Question the gods ability to protect people from Gaia.]
Both inquisitors gave you a look, Salazar was amused, while the Gheist seemed annoyed.
“Its like an apprentice to inquisitor, he gets a few truths and he thinks he understands everything.” Salazar said, nudging his partner.
"I agree, it shows how little he understands. But why does he treat us like idiots?" said Sarayud.
Salazar tried to dismiss the question.
"All of his interactions with scholars have been with the idiots from this morning. It's normal for him to have a bias."
"I guess you're right, those who study demon tech are the ones with a less common sense.
Although it doesn't excuse this demon's behavior, we have professional studies for the Gods sake."
"Leave him be, he is like a teenager. He believes that now that he understands the world he is capable of changing it."

“We don’t care about the shame, stigma or our own deaths, we care about doing our job. That’s why we are inquisitors.” Salazar said very plainly.

“Have a good trip.” Said the Tyr while the other inquisitor left.

“That went well. You should leave unless you want to take my offer and drink the poison. Its still your easy way out.
Also Sarayud lied, its not 60%. We already killed a few, the organizers and a few priest, and the one called David is being sent to a grand inquisitor.

+1. Salazar seems alright. Now let's clear the bucket list and make sure our Dwarf friend and her buddies dont all die.

Also we REALLY need to get around telling Rakta to ditch her sword. We're 95% sure its radioactive and is slowly killing her. If she doesnt want to get red of it then at the very least let us add a lead lined scabbard to it.......unnleeeesss we can create a "Cure for Cancer" spell. That would solve the long term issue.

>>5400763
Ask Salazar if it would be safe to reveal to 492 who we are, or if it would be for the best that we keep our identity hidden.

If an iron shield costs 45 and has a protection difference of 4. What about an alabative chemically treated steel shield? Could we possibly make our own with some tinkering and use of the Ark?

the rest of questions I think they are for Salazar
>>
>>5400851
Due to the strength of the PA, would a normal sized shield be able to be used a a buckler for it?
If the basic servo claw being added to the PA will make it an extra arm with only 5 strength, does that mean we need additional insight to successfully install it and be able to use it (move it, grasp things, attack)?
Could the servo arm hold a heavy shield for us, leaving our two primary arms free to hold our giant killer gun?
>>
>>5400861
Why would you add an arm with a shield when you could weld thicker pieces of steel into the power armor?

There were many things to do, but right now you had the opportunity to speak with Salazar in private.
A opportunity that you knew would not come again, possibly never depending on how the situation developed.
"Well, I can see why you said he is a thug. He jumps to conclusions quicker than I do." You said.

Salazar sighed wearily.
"He is a man who, like everyone in my profession, tries to protect what he cares about. He has his reasons for being that way, or I think he has at least."

"I also wanted to ask about the Chosen Ones weapons. Why are they made from radioactive materials?"
"Main reason, mess up their metabolism so they stop growing. Weapons are calibrated so they don't kill them... with exceptions.
There are more reasons, but your human morality may not approve.
I assure you, it's for the best."

"Sounds suspicious, but I also wanted to ask if you think I should reveal my identity to Rakta."
"492? No, I'd better tell her. She would react badly if she realizes that she has a demon in front of her. Are you going to spirit her away into your floating castle?"
sarcastically asked the inquisitor, taking notes of the conversation.
"Is it even possible? Her leaving I mean."
"A chosen one deserting its post? Dont know, if it happened it would have been censored. She is currently in the east wing of the cathedral, she is unarmed."
"Why are you telling me?"
"Because I can't stop you from going and if you get lost in the halls you might be discovered. That's when the head would start to roll."

>Pocket the poison.
"Drop that immediately!" ordered Salazar "If you are not going to use it, return it, I may need it in the near future."
(You can't take the poison)

"The address for Sarayud to pick you up is at Port C at 8 am tomorrow. Goodbye." he said pointing to the door as the three Raktas entered the room.

So you left, knowing where to look for Rakta...
You should find a way to refer to her, 492 feels impersonal, but now there are a few of them.

...
You found the place that Salazar had indicated.
A section of the cathedral with the appearance of a convent.
It was almost deserted, so it was easy to avoid the people.

Rakta was surprised to see you, asking why you snuck into this place and why you were still in town.
You gave her a summary with many omitted data of what had happened.
"I guess it's my fault that this happened, what a shitty plan I came up with.
Although I assumed you would sell the truck and retire from this adventurer role. By the way, how did they let you go if the rest were arrested?"
"I know Salazar, if you need help you can always trust him."
"I think you mentioned it, but I didn't believe it. And what are you doing here? Because I doubt you need me to teach you how to pray... you know how to pray, right?"

"I think I'm going to help them."
"Good luck, remember, those infected by the Blood plague don't know they are infected until they explode, their eyes are bloodshot and they have anemia.
Protect your eyes and mouth, and use fire against the slimes."

You weren't sure what she was telling you but you nodded.
"Now go before someone else comes. Don't do anything that will make me regret helping you."

Short story on the origin of the Blood Plague.
“Once upon a time there was a forest of crooked trees and silver stones.
In its depths, lost even from its crones.
An abandoned infant lay on pasture bedding
Sacrifice to the elements or wolves, whoever found him first.
Left there alone, came to accompany him, one cold night.
The infant cried, but he knew not return before daylight.
Parents who couldn't feed him had left.
And the infant fell to the ground, cold and hungry.
The Night saw him sigh his last breath, drank his last tear and whispered goodbye.

Morning came, and the world unfroze.
The infant woke up on red eyes
And walked back to his village without cold.
The parents received him, scared.
and the infant shared his blood
so they never left him again. “

>Help fight the Blood plague
>Convince Sarayud to delay the plague extermination

You had come this far, and the truth is that you couldn't think of many alternatives.
Hide in the wasteland? You didn't have enough supplies.
Flee to the Wild lands? You had to cross the Empire.
Escape by boat? You had nowhere to go.

You had no confidence that the group of mercenaries would survive what the inquisitor was going to force them to do.
So you have to wait for the morning.
Although that only made you think about more things.
What if he had lied to you? And if it was a trap? Or if it was a low-risk situation and it was a way to force you to come?
You wouldn't know until you came face to face with the problem.
Or ask one of your companions.

You eventually met the inquisitor at the agreed point.
"I'm kind of surprised you show up. This is a dangerous job, are you sure about this?" I ask, surprising you.
You stated that you wanted to do it, although you asked him to delay the extermination a bit to prepare resources.
"I've already got the materials... I was going to lie to you but there's no need.
I stole them from the town hall, they can't do anything when it comes to this. And we don't have more time, the perimeter isn't that secure."

I ordered you to follow him to pick up the rest of the people.
He was accompanied by four city guards.
Once the entire expedition was in front of him, he gave a short speech.
The classic "do this job and they'll get a reprieve."
And then I explain to them what they were going to do.
They were going to get some fuel drums and they were going to burn down houses.
The whole town is infected by the blood plague.
The job of this group was to burn houses in a specific pattern and kill anything that came out of the flames in their direction.
The order was to kill everything that moved, but not pursue them
He also gave a brief explanation of what the blood plague was and how it is transmitted.
A slime that replaced the blood, until the body of the infected could not stand it and died.
and then the slime attacked new people to infect them.
The security protocol was the same as the one Rakta told you about.
The only difference was that if someone broke it, they would be executed.
And that at the end of the job there would be a medical check-up.
>>
After that you were taken to the destination.
A large town on the outskirts of the city.
It was surrounded by a makeshift wall of mud and logs with constant patrols of guards.
The inquisitor kept his promise.
You were given the materials to start the fire, and basic protection from the plague.
Once in position, the group was told to wait for the signal.
They needed the wind to blow in the right direction.
So, on the edge of this seemingly normal village, you had time to prepare.

>Prepare a wall with spikes
It was obvious that whatever was prowling around this town would run away with the fire.
So you started the preparations.
The first idea was to create a wooden wall which you could defend.
Everyone agreed that it was a good plan and got down to business.
But this was farmland so there weren't many trees to cut down.
and those that were had already been used for the wall that surrounded the area.
The other option for wood was to go inside the houses and take wood planks from them.
Noone wanted to risk it, so the plan was scraped.

So the group decided to make a kind of trench.
The objective was to fill it with stakes to hold back whatever tried to escape.
The problem was that you had no equipment to dig.
No shovels or pickaxes.
Some dwarves digged with their bare hands, but it wasn't very efective.
All your efforts to try to reinforce the position left you with a small pile of wet mud as protection.

A red flare in the air gave you the signal to begin the operation.
So you didn't have more time to prepare.
One of the mercenaries went to the edge of the houses and poured fuel around them.
A spark later and the flames began to spread.
At first the red tongues moved slowly along the walls.
But when the inferno gained strength it began to jump between houses.
A cloud of black smoke rose violently from the chaos, blocking visibility.

You were all silent, holding your weapons tightly to gain confidence.
Aside from the crackling of the fire, the world was silent.
The tension was increasing when the first shadows emerged from the buildings that had not yet gone up in flames.
Dry screams echoed the empty streets.

Within seconds, people covered in rags began to emerge from the abandoned buildings.
Arms raised, asking for rescue from the nightmare.
They began to slowly approach.
You could count four people, but they were too far away to see them clearly.
Nhave gave them the order not to come any closer.
They hesitantly obeyed, but continued to cry out for help.
if they started to run you would have time to react, but you were too far away to ensure that these people were not infected.
Nhave had decided that they were going to stay there until the mission was over.
Forcing the inquisitor to act.
This did not seem like a great idea when the fire was speading and they were forced to advance a little bit more.

What is going to be done?

Research is a little dodgy. This is only my speculations, but we'd need a lab, some books that have already documented this disease, and a facility to help prevent the spread of the disease as we research, containers to contain the slime, and several hosts (animals) we can use to infect for the purpose of creating cures to battle it. In the optimal conditions I'd expect we'd be able to develop a cure in a few years. However, this slime disease looks like it eats people from the inside out. So if it gets to the point where they're already bleeding red slime from their eyes out mouth they might already be gone. Kind of like those parasitic wasps that zombify bugs?

>cast Illussion [Aberance 5] to make several duplicates of us to distract attackers and confuse infected so they're less likely to attack us [lasts 1 hr]

The first thing you did to prepare was cast an illusion spell on your allies and the terrain.
Creating a mirage on the ground, you blurred your presence.
Ranged attacks would cost them more to hit you and would confuse the enemy about positioning.
If they got too close it wouldn't do much good but in the absence of a real defense, confusing the enemy would have to suffice.

>loan our horse to a ranger to shoot down any run aways, nonlethal take downs to the legs until they can safely confirm they are infected or not from a distance.
(only ranger is Emilia)

You wanted to maintain a pressure throughout the entire area.
Just in case someone was trying to breach the perimeter.
So you gave Emilia your last horse along with some simple instructions to keep an eye on the area.
"Are the orders serious? Or are you giving me the horse just in case this turns into hell and i have to run away?"
"They are serious, I need you to watch them."
"Ok, but don't ask me to rescue you on horseback, Charmer. We're not into those kinds of stories."

After a while, Emilia was on the periphery of your defensive line, watching over the ruins that were not yet burning and the four survivors.

>use PA speakers to project voice and demand all citizens to get on the ground with their hands behind their backs.

You gave a couple of orders to the survivors and asked them to cooperate.
You informed them that they would be checked for signs of infection, and if all went well they would be removed from town.
This, was a deviation from the inquisitor's orders, Nhave said this to you.
And he also told you that she wouldn't put her girls at risk.
Ihlist made it clear that she would not risk it either.
And casters would be more useful in the rearguard, where they had time to react.

That leaves you as the only candidate to check the status of the survivors.
So you moved forward, aiming your pistol at them in case they made any sudden moves.
That you were wearing poweramor left them in a small state of shock.
Panic that the chimeras had captured them.
Still, they didn't move.

You checked for symptoms, three of them were very thin.
Which could be initial symptom of infection.
But between the four of them there was nothing that screamed danger.
If any were infected, it would have been very recently.
While you did an inspection they kept asking you for help.
Explaining how they had hidden from the rats and abominations.
The only thing that is clear to you is that they had been lucky.
You gave them a thumbs up, letting them walk away from the inferno in creation.___
The group decided not to mingle with them just in case.
They were pushed to the side of the defence, Nhave wanted no distractions.
>>
And then the wind changed direction.
The cloud of smoke and ash swallowed the group, preventing you from seeing the houses from where you were.
The sound of the flames had increased enough to be difficult to talk to each other.
But you could still hear when someone screamed.
The cry of alarm was one word "RATS!"
The cloud of black smoke prevented you from seeing very far, but the fleeing mass stood out in the chaos.
Mangy rats with red pustules in the hundreds ran towards you.
And just as your mirage made you hard to see, the smoke protected them.

Nhave took control of the mercenaries, ordering the use of blunt weapons.
And the wizards were preparing to use area effect magic.
But everyone's attention was momentarily caught by what followed.
The infected rats were only heralds of the abominable brute fleeing from the fire.
A semi-transparent flood of bodies blended into a single creature.
It crawled with a wet sound, a slug that was afraid of flames.
Slowly charged against the mercenaries, who were occupied by the besieging vermin.

>Helps deal with rats (ranged or melee?)
This is a tough decision to make, and I wasnt sure which was the best choice. On one hand, killing the abomination would probably make the swarm of rats lose cohesion. On the other, that would cause the rats to flee and escape who know where. So if we can kill the rats fast enough, we can focus on the blob.
><Sleep = [3 Aberrance] (Range: Short) (creatures that fail their Insight save will fall unconscious for 1 min) (Save DC = to 10 + caster Insight)>
It says creatures which is plural. If the sleep sleep can target a whole bunch of rants, or treats the swarm of rats as a single entity, use the spell.
If the sleep spell doesnt work start cleaving through the rata with the cleaver.

The vermin masses advanced in undulating movements.
like the waves of the sea, they charged without clear direction.
Crashing against bulwark defense, it did not seem to be stop.
and with the abomination approaching without a sign of fatigue, the situation looked dire.
Although the solution came quickly to you
Tapping slightly into the Aberrance reserves from Potato
You cast the sleep spell on the horde.

[2 hordes of vermin resisting sleep]
[Rolls: 7 , 20 (+1); AD 18; Result: 1 failure 1 success]

Your spell had the desired effect on half of the creatures.
Many of the pustulous balls of fur fell over, dragged into unconsciousness.
But the most corrupted by the infection did not stop.
The slime had devoured her insides leaving husks and bones for itself.
And without a brain to charm, the spell couldn't latch onto anything.

[Blood plague infected trait: Nerve decentralization: Immunity all types of charm magic, immunity to beheading.]

While you watched the results, Ihlist had organized the rest of the casters to help her with a spell.
The magic she directed took the form of cold,
Similar to water ripples, a wave of frost spread out from their direction towards the rats.
Niven and the other wizard focused their efforts on giving it more force.

[1 damage to each horde]

The spell killed quite a few rats, and the ones that could still move didn't feel like such a huge threat.
The only risk was infection, which with so few creatures could be minimized.
Nhave took the initiative to eliminate the surviving creatures.

[Roll: 17 + 8 DC: 12 + 4 Result: Success]
[Damage: 1d6 +1, min damage 2]

Swinging a broadsword madly, the mercenary captain somehow cut down the horde of vermin very quickly.
And this only left the abomination to be dealt with.
And Emilia and the rest of the mercenaries concentrated on this task.

[Mercenaries]
[Rolls: 15/4/16/14 (+8) DC: 3/9/12/15 (+8) Result: Success/Failure/ Success/Failure]

Blood plague abomination traits:
Slime: Reduce damage from normal weapons by 4, to a min of 1
Infectious: When a creature is hit, they have to succeed on a corporeality Check DC 13. If they fail, they become infected by the blood plague.

The mercenaries tried to hit the creature, but their attacks proved ineffective.
Swords or maces, the only thing they did was scratch superficially the mucus or break structures of the devoured victims inside.
The arrows Emilia was using didn't work either, getting stuck in the flesh of the monster.
Although the worst part of the conflict was taken by two of the mercenaries, who you had not learned their names.
Receiving retaliation for the attack in the form of heavy blows that pushed them back.
Luckily, their armor prevented physical contact, so they weren't at risk of being infected for now.

Only this creature remains.

>Ranged combat (magic arrow)
The abomination was surrounded by uncertainty and a miasma of blood.
The threat of infection was greater than the idea of death,
Somehow making every choice harder than what it would seem.
The fear of harm was highjack by the fear of disgust towards the crawling pile of viscous necrosis.
You took the first shot, using one of the magic arrows you had bought thinking of this scenario.

The arrow did not strike very well, the smoke was still in the air.
With blurred vision, you tried to make the shot.
And you narrowly missed, the arrow passed where the creature had been a few seconds ago.
But its charge against the mercenaries had made you fail.

The creature was injured none the less, this made the mercenaries advance with an insidious confidence.
Risking themselves so their hammers and swords could draw blood.
Nhave made a quick job of attacking the weaker parts.
Several of the victims still to finish digesting, were vomited in this assault by the slime.
When the rest of the mercenaries had their chance, the beast was trying to retreat.
Fleeing into the flames and charred ruins it had been trying to escape.
With a path blocked by design, there could only be one end.

Still, the abomination did not want to go down without a fight.
The mercenaries' first blow left a clear wound.
And the others attacked, neglecting defense and hoping for a quick victory.
The creature counterattacked, wounding two severely.
They both began to bleed and stepped back to catch their breath.
The last attack of one of the mercenaries hit within the chaos.
It damaged something inside the slime, or maybe it was all the small injuries.
But it began to crumble into shreds that couldn't hold their shape.

Only a puddle of viscosity remained, which Hildra made sure would also burn, just in case.
You all relaxed, celebrating the victory.
And quickly you all returned to your positions.
Waiting for the next wave.
One that never came.
The flames increase in size and devoured the entire city and whatever was in it.

So in the maximum tranquility that you would achieve here, they began to heal the wounds of the mercenaries hit by the slime.
All the wounds were from the mercenaries you didn't know by name.
Something that you ended up thanking, when it was realized that one of them was infected.
Neros was a dwarf with an unusual number of scars, a reckless woman who never though much of it.
And one of the lacerations that was deep enough to stick half an index finger, did not bleed.
Her wound was covered by a membrane of red slime that pulsed with her heartbeat.

She bursted into tears as her battle-sisters tried to comfort her.
She would die today, and nobody could do anything.

[Corporality rolls: 3/19 (+5) DC 13; Result: Infection/Healthy]

You stood waiting for reality to come back for you as you watched a town burn.
And even with the noise of the fire you were able to hear the explosions that were happening on the other side of it.
The uncertainty of whether they would come back for was your accompany for the two hours that you sat there.
By then Neros had made peace with her death and the rest of the people had joined the pessimistic attitude that the four survivors had.
The town was just charred ruins, something that would take days to comb through for anything of value.

...

Sarayud arrived on horseback, accompanied by ten soldiers who seemed exhausted.
The inquisitor didn't look too good either, one of his tentacles had been mangled and his exoskeleton was fractured in several places.
"Congratulations on surviving, I am pleased to inform you that the mission was a success. The infection has been eliminated.
Please line up and I'll check to see if anyone here has been infected."

This process consisted of checking all the wounds and boiling blood from that area.
He also brought a little bag of herbs that made everyone who smell it vomit.
This last test, you did not know what purpose it had but there was no room to question it.
Sarayud only stopped twice, when he was inspecting Neros’ wounds and with the survivors.
The survivors, luckily for them, passed the Inquisitor's tests.
Neros didn’t, the blood from her wound curdled quickly under the heat and tried to escape from the jar that contained it.

"Neros, it was your name right? I'm going to have to ask you to stay here. Would you mind waiting around?"
The mercenary accepting the inevitable, obeyed in silence.
Her comrades did not dare look up.

The inquisitor turned to the four survivors to speak to them.
"I gave the order to kill everything that moved, but luckily for you these people do not follow my orders, and you are not infected.
So you have my permission to go, but since you have nothing, and here almost all my troops died, I need more guards to enforce the quarantine.
You have already seen what happens if this is not controlled, if you are interested in a job please do not leave."
>>
Sarayud cleared his throat and addressed the rest of you.
"Thank you for your effort, officially you are pardoned for your crimes. Now leave and never come back. Hegiol, please take them outside."
"Sir, I'm just a private, to get out of quarantine we need a captain with us." the soldier replied.
"Congratulations on your promotion then, now obey the orders."
Three of the survivors took the gheist's offer.
The fourth talked about having relatives in Dico.
The soldier escorted you outside the perimeter and left you in a car that would take you to the city.
there you reunited with the survivors of the other group.
Two mercenaries and a scholar, their group had been slightly larger than yours.

Do you want to have a vial of Plague Blood?
>yes
>No
(no trap, it's very dangerous on its own)

Your time in the city was coming to an end, there was nothing else tying you to it.
Now you could return to the Demon capital without having to worry about anyone.
Would you come back like this though?
>You don't really want to go back to the Demon capital (You stay longer in the city. Other plot hooks.)
>Convince someone to come with you (Who?)(How?)
(all the NPC's you know or people you want to come are available. Whether they do it depends on your arguments.)
>Request a payment for your services from Sarayud (What are you going to ask of him?)(Roll 1d20 bo3 Speech)
>You are going to steal something before fleeing to the wasteland (What are you going to steal?) (Roll 1d20 Bo3)
>Write in

>>5406272
The survivors situation is resolved.
You dont have to worry about them anymore.
They will probably end up some working for the inquisitor.
Not sure if its good or bad for you, probably good since they will remember the bro in power armor.

They use cars? Isnt that demon tech? Do you mean an actual car, or a horse drawn cart?

>yes, take a vial. maybe a cure could be developed some day.

>Convince someone to come with you (Who?)(How?)
Rakta #492. First I wanna see how they've reacted to learning who and what we actually are. Depending on her response, it might be impossible to recruit her, though there still might be a chance.
Pretty much just go out and find our friends and simple ask them "do you want to go on an adventure to fight evil and do shenanigans?"

>Request a payment for your services from Sarayud (What are you going to ask of him?)(Roll 1d20 bo3 Speech)
I wanna say some forged ID's and legal documents made for our persona, but then that would give the Inquisition a File on us, and we're already banned from the elf holy capital unfortunately. Maybe a bunch of rations, fuel, medkits, and some regionally accepted coins in all countries? Do you guys use the same minted coins and system?

>You are going to steal something before fleeing to the wasteland (What are you going to steal?) (Roll 1d20 Bo3)

>Convince someone to come with you (Who?)(How?)
Hildra, Emilia and Nilvre.
Also ask the dwarf captain and Ilhest if they still want to adventure around, because we plan on going on more. Even if they don't follow us, we should still keep contact, they were good people.
>>
>>5407248

Why not?

>no capital
But we dont have any buisness in any other city, nor do we have a leads beyond the demon capital.

Hildra and Emilia I know, but who's Nilvre? You mean the old man elf? Isnt he a little old and infirm?

Isnt Ilhest the one elf that was with us as the scouting party? I vaguely recall that she's kinda rude, and doesnt know that we're a demon.

We could definitely bring the dwarf captain along....if we had a lot of money, which we dont. Why do you want to take the captain with us? Do you expect she will just come with us for the sake of it? Pretty sure she also doesnt know we're a demon.

So the votes are for:
>Request a payment for your services from Sarayud (documentation)
>You are going to steal something before fleeing to the wasteland ( someone rich)
>Try to recruit people (see if anyone is interested in generic adventuring)

and some indecision over if leaving to another city or returning to the demon capital.

The vote for the heist could take some posts to resolve and the recruiting offer looks more like seeing what everyone will do.
I will not begin writing right now so you have time to decide on what you want to do.
Problems of having a “sandbox” quest.
But i will say, if you return to the demon capital I will need some help to transition this into a civ quest since that appears to be the direction.
>>
>>5407660
>Why not?
I just don't want to carry a vial of spooky conjunctivitis
>no capital
I want to go there, but not now. If we go there it becomes a civ quest instead of going to investigate shit in an adventure.
So go to another city, set up a base and go to lot and discover more shit.
I was hoping to take the southern Tyr kingdom offer of mercenaries, hoping that we do find the recruiter/diplomat on the road so he can give us the job offer. The whole point of me suggesting him is because QM had said didn't know how to keep the expedition together in a /qtg/ post, so it wouldn't be us that wuld be paying for the company
>Isn't he a little old and infirm?
He is a scholar and know of our identity. Also I do't want to lose any more named characters, I still miss Anny.
>>
>>5407907
Technically you also loose characters and friends if they die, as in if we taken them with us theres a chance they might die due to dangers.
You also didnt make a convincing arguement as why Emilia, Hildra, and Niv should come with us.
>>
>>5407927
There is no argument, I just like them.
>>
>>5407952
>Convince someone to come with yo

It's like you're not even trying. They're more likely to join us if you give them a convincing argument, and appeal to their interests. Toriel likes fighting, fem con artist likes money, and the old man likes learning about magic things.

>>5407771
Sticking with my vote of recruiting Rakta #492. She could teach us how to not be a complete pleb in a fight, in addition to giving us insight in regards to the world, the church, and perhaps the gods. Shes also another competent meat shield which is nice, and I still want to know why the radioactive sword is nessassary for her biology.

Emilia, by appealing to the possibility of great profit to be made (look at all the are, weird shit we've found so far!) and our friendship (we'd really appreciate a familiar, friendly face).

Final votes:

>Request a payment for your services from Sarayud (documentation)

>Try to convince Emilia with the idea of Profit and Adventure.
> recruiting Rakta #492
>Recruiting Hildra and Niven
>develop a Cure Disease spell for this infection, use it on Neros if we can
Very sweet but its not something you can just whip out, Neros is dead.
You could set a lab and investigate it the blood plague but for now it’s in the back burner of another quest idea.

>>5407907
>If we go there it becomes a civ quest instead of going to investigate shit in an adventure.
Ah, yes.
Its a radical change of concept and there is no way around it.
Good news is that i would keep the setting for more quests, a lot of effort put into this…
Not sure if its good news since half the attractive of the quest is exploration.

>Also I don't want to lose any more named characters
Yes, that is the fault of the premise and my poor DMing choices.
Since the original premise of the game was to have you bound by the contract, you would have been stuck with them and them with you.
That got derail first thing in this thread.
>>
>yes to plague vial
You now have in your possession a vial of Blood Plague.
I will not involve him in any event because it is exponentially dangerous.
I trust you use it wisely.

>Request a payment for your services from Sarayud (documentation)
Before you were sent back to the city, you asked Sarayud for help with a problem you had.
"You want me away from the city and from you right?" you asked, leading the conversation.
"What do you need?" He said quietly, expecting to be disappointed.
"Well, I was going to ask for some documentation for myself, but since you want to ban me from entering the city, I'd appreciate supplies so I don't have to sneak in."
"That's reasonable, but I refuse to pay you. I'll get you the documents and I won't send the order to ban you from entering."
But leave in less than a week, more inquisitors are coming and we don't want a situation, do we?"

Sarayud talked to you for a few minutes while writing a letter.
He stamped and signed it, and put it in a sealed envelope.
"Give this to the guard at the entrance. You'll have some basic papers."
When you arrived at Dico, you obeyed instructions with a bit of skepticism.
Half an hour later you received a piece of paper resembling a slave contract.
The only condition was that you were tied to that number and if you took another or impersonated someone, you had to stop.
It was the document that identified you as a citizen of the Elven Democracy, signed by someone who seemed important.

What name do you want to sign with?
>Anon
>John
>Better not sign
>Write in

"Elven Citizenship: You are recognized as a citizen of the Democracy.
You do not have the right to vote because you do not pay any taxes but you can own property in the Democracy, among other things."

>You are going to steal something before fleeing to the wasteland (someone rich)

Already in the city you thought that it was possible that you were never going to come back here again.
So you recruited Emilia for a robbery, you had been to the noble district before and more or less knew how the houses were built.
And since you were leaving in less than a day, it would be very difficult to catch you if you crossed a border.
Emilia signed up as long as you didn't go to specific houses.
She didn't want to piss off those who controlled the military or clan leaders.
So merchants would have to be.

I dont want this to take an entire post so:

>Try to convince Emilia

The decision to recruit Emilia was not a difficult one.
She had been there since you got into this world, something you wished you had phrased differently in your thoughts.
And you made her the offer to continue traveling together.
"Maybe, where do you plan to go?" she asked.
You knew her well enough to give her the answer she wanted.
"Far from here and where there is more to explore. I want to get more artifacts before I stop somewhere."
"Sounds good to me, Charmer, but then will it be You, Ghal, Flora and me?"
"I also want to ask a couple more people."
"Ah, yes, the harem is not complete. If only the Chosen one were here."
"It's in the cathedral." you replied
"That's... oh man, if you can get her to come it'll be a lot more interesting. Tell me you're going to try it."

[Emilia will go with you as long as you don’t travel north.]

>Recruit Hildra
You made Hildra a similar offer.
You asked her to accompany you on your continuing expeditions into the unknown.
"Anon, are you sure this is a good idea?"
You asked her what she was thinking.
"I'm a dwarf mercenary, and not a young one at that. My only job is being a hired muscle, and you seem to have that covered on your own.
I don't have any skills that can be useful to you."
She said with a heavy voice.

"Oh don't be like that, you've survived two expeditions to the wasteland and you beat me in an arm wrestling match, remember." You said trying to cheer her up.
She looked at you with her only healthy eye and half smile.
"I'm thinking you let me win back then. But okay, I still owe you, if you need me I could change the pace. I'll find something to do."

[Hildra is an available companion]
>>
>Nhave and Ihlist (I will not make an offer because there is indecision)
Nhave was still leading the Steel Lady mercenaries.
Their numbers had been decimated by combat and retirement.
But she insisted that it wasn't the end yet, and that they were going to do a recruitment drive in a nearby dwarf city.

Ihlist seemed pissed that the inquisition had erased all paperwork pertaining this last expedition.
“You ask me what I’m going to do, I’ll demand this assholes for compensation.”
This confused you.
“They didn’t pay you?” you asked.
“No, Yes, they did but that’s not the problem. My father is an adventuring type, like you but cleaner.” She said as if this was a fact of life.
You decided to let it slide since you were curious as why her father was involved.
“Well, the old man is obsessed with the family name, and wanted me to earn some, badge?
Something he could brag about to his friends, fucker left me out of his will unless I do it.”
“I don’t really get it. Why would you even want his money then? Wouldn’t it be better to make your fortune on your own?” You asked
“I know you don’t get it, but it’s not about money, it’s the position. With all due respect to your hobo lifestyle, I want something better.”

"Well, from my understanding, you're going to have to live through it for another couple of months. Maybe years." You said in a small act of revenge.
“Fuck off , I’m not a kid, I can take it. Anyway, where are you going?” She asked in a manner that was very serious.
“Wait, why do you ask?”
“You have several demon tech artifacts and the inquisition hasn't taken them away from you.
Obviously you have something with them, where you finish something will happen and I could put myself in the center and earn my inheritance."
"Why I do that?" you asked confused
"Because I'll pay you, of course."

[Ihlist has given you a quest for her to earn her inheritance, do you want to accept it?]

I'm halfway done, but I may fall asleep so I will post what I have for now just in case.

>Recruit Rakta
It was in the afternoon when you decided to visit Rakta
You were a little afraid of how he would react to the revelation that you were a human.
You didn't know whether to prepare yourself with a weapon or with a strong drink.
In the end you decided to carry both in your body.

You made your way through the cathedral to the monastery where you knew I would be.
The corridors were more full of life, but they still didn't see you.
Or at least they pretended not to see you, imagining you as a Don Juan visiting some nun.
You prayed that you really were as stealthy as you thought you were.
These thoughts were interrupted when you reached Rakta's gate.
You knocked on the door and were given permission to enter.

You found Rakta sitting on the floor in her room, sharpening her sword.
You appreciated being armed and somewhat drunk when I looked up to see you.
Her expression was a pure mixture of surprise and hatred.
"I never expected to see you again, I thought you would disappear." She said very calmly, taking her time to observe your movements.
"I know this looks bad, and I know you hate me for lying to you."
"I understand why you lied to me. I forgive you for that, it's natural. I hate you because you're a demon and you helped me, that's not natural."

"Would you have preferred that I let you die in that city?" you exclaimed
"If you had, I wouldn't be compromising what I have to do and the principles of the Qothos in this conversation.
You've put me in a horrible situation and I've had a lot of time to think."
"Is that good? Or have you decided you're going to kill me?"

"The principles of Qothos support personal sacrifice for the world we protect.
And since I know you are a demon and the inquisition did not recover the relic sword of any of the people on the expedition, I believe you have it."

You were silent for a few seconds.
You expected her to continue talking and she expected you to confess.
when that didn't happen, Rakta kept talking.
"If you have it, I want you to deliver it to the church of Qothos.
In exchange I will give you my soul, is it a deal?"

fuck, he hadn't taken well that you were a demon.
[Rakta wants to buy the Relic Sword from you with her soul]

>Recruit Niven
You had to look for Niven the next day.
Although it was a simple task.
You just had to go to the Seeker clan and ask about him.
Life had returned to the guild, there were more people hanging around.
And he directed you to a secluded office in the building.
When you entered you could see a table and shelves in the bones.
And Niven doing some paperwork pretty excited.

"Anon! You won't believe it, I've been given a promotion!"
"Congratulations." you said a bit worried, considering the absolute maniac this man was.
"Yes, since the inquisition killed some those three we had for bosses, they needed someone with experience to replace them." he said he a little happier than he should.
"I thought your interest was in the study of runes." you told him
"Yes, but now I don't have to leave my office to get stuff. I solve a couple of things and I have my whole day for my projects."
"Sounds good, I came to ask you if you signed up for a little expedition but I think I know the answer."

"There are a lot of people who would be interested, just to be able to study the truck while you travel." He started talking.
"But if you need someone you trust, why not Tog and Jericho? The kobold and the kid from when we summoned you.
I talked to them the other day about my promotion and hiring them, they might be interested in your offer. They live together so if you find one, will catch the other."
"They live together?"
"I don't know why, but it's convenient for this."

John was our fake name yes? Go with that. Make sure to appraise the contract to ensure it doesn't bit us in the ass. If the only clause was to stop impersonating someone, then I see no reason to not sign it since there is no consequence to us actually disobeying. In the original contract there was mention of receiving pain or death for not following the rules, but this has neither!

rolling for loot or consequence I think. Can we make liberal use of the illusion and invisibility spell to reduce the consequence, and possibly place the blame on another known criminal?

definitely recruit Hildra. If she doesn't like being a one trick pony, she's free to read up on stuff from the Ark.

Friendly suggestion to Nhave: maybe they should invest more in heavy crossbows and longbows. Ranged weapons could suit them nicely.

Accept Ihist's quest, but she has to at the very least be a bit more nicer. She hurts my feelings.

Regarding Rakta, I'd like to ask why she wants to give the church the sword. Then afterwards I wanna radio the general and ask if he knows anything about the sword, and if it would be a bad idea to give it to the church. Did they have any plans for it?

Cedalion is too far away
But the sword is exactly what you think it is and the church may just pray to it like the fragments of the cross in Christianity or it may do an Alexander Anderson.

> Ask Rakta why the church would want the sword and how he understands souls.

You were a little worried about what she was telling you.
Aside from seeming like she had no understanding of how souls worked, something just didn't click with you.

"Why would the church want that?" you asked carefully
Although all your care was wasted, your question hit her like a sledgehammer.
"Wha- Because it's a piece of my god! It's Qothos! Or so I think, I didn't have time to commune with it. SOMEONE stole it." She said with daggers in her eyes.
You tried to explain yourself better in a hurry.
"Yes, but what would they do with the sword? Would they try to do more? Would they use it as an icon to pray?"
She relaxed and accepted your doubt in the church,
She forgave you for the abruptness of your earlier question.

"We are in Dico, the bishop is an Apostolist but this city is large and contains many sects.
In the hands of which congregation it would end up is difficult to estimate.
If they confirm that it is a relic of Qothos, probably resurrectionists. But that is good, if the warmth of Our fallen star can be brighter its a future I must pursue."
She said running her hand over her sword, believing the radiation to be a sign from her god.
You didn't understand how she was alive, Salazar mentioned some things but didn't explain it well.

"Yes, and I'm willing to die for this."

Recruiting Jericho and Tog was not difficult.
You knew that the Kobold worked in the arcana clan so you visited him and had a "meeting".
You tried to convince them to come with you on a new adventure.
"You know we're not good at that, right? What do you need us for?"
"Well, it helps with magic and I have several artifacts that you could study. I still don't understand them."
Tog offered you another option.
"You can always leave the objects here for us to study."
"Tog, he's human, he doesn't want to part with his stuff. It's like the argument we had about toothbrushes."
"I understand, I think. So we go with him to study the artifacts?"
"As long as we're not out for more than a month, we won't have any serious problems."

[Tog and Jericho join unless you want them to stay here and study an item/items you give them]

>Accept Ilhist's quest, let her tag along
You accepted her request, it was reasonable.
And it was a good gig while you explored more of the world.
an excuse to travel more.

She then proposed several options for this trip.
"I've been looking at a couple of things we could do. Notes on a couple of contracts that might give me enough prestige."
She took several papers out of her bag.
It seemed that she had been looking at this in depth.

"We could go west, if we get to one of the dwarven fortresses there are several feral nests in the mines.
If we take out one of the big ones, simply being associated with the extermination team should suffice.
Problem of this plan, we have to get into deep caves, very dangerous."

Then we could go in the opposite direction to the east, near the Tyr border.
There are rumors of demon cults summoning creatures from Avernos.
If we are the first to capture or kill one we will have enough recognition that the Empire might congratulate us.
The biggest problem, there are many Inquisition teams doing the same thing, so competition.

Then we could go south, dragon hunting in the Empire.
This is very stupid for obvious reasons,
but the rewards are worth it.

Going further south might give other types of prey but its more dangerous.
and the option of taking on a sea monster is off the table, I fucking hate boats."

So, how do you want to earn Ihlist some prestige?

The wild patron was envious of the gods, for he could not truly create, all that it made were mere mockeries. Even when he put pieces of himself into his carvings in desperation, they remained mindless. When the external god found the patron's grove, he took pity on the plight of these orphaned, half made children and gifted them true life and shape.

Okay this dialogue chance with Rakta is too good to pass up. I wanna redpill her some facts and see if she'll go renegade. I doubt it will come to that though. If time is short we can just hide under her bed, or use a illusion spell to disguise ourself as an inquisitor. But first step let's show her what our face looks like.

Okay. As a clone of what I assumed to be the original Rakta, she should understand that what she knows and told is heavily biased. To make an example, say that there was a warring country that used clones of a really strong person. The clones are zealot and will fight to the death for what they believe in. Because they're right, they're just, but you're evil and wrong. Sound familiar? (think Star Wars clone troopers getting phased out and replaced. they also have short life spans)
Another thing, since she knows so much about demons, she should know some things. Like, we know souls don't exist. Everyone is just a bundle of magic or aberrance. There is no afterlife, you just die. Doesn't mean you shouldn't live your life though. We'll, there's no after life "here", but no clue if there is one back where we're from. She can doubt us, but she has few reasons to believe we'd lie to her. We've omitted some facts but never lied. I think.
What else can we tell her- right! Humans. We're called humans, not demons. The actual demons of this work would be the giants. I think she knows more about the human-tyr war than we do but like humanity isn't inherently evil. Just very spiteful, persistent, and curious. I mean, if you were summoned into another world as a slave army and expected to fight someone else war, how would you react? Not saying we're all for going to war or support war, just hoping she recognizes some reasoning as to WHY the war happened.

I have a counter offer for her. Lets say, theoretically, if we had the sword, instead of bringing it back to the church for them to do weird things to it, why don't she travel with us so she can commune with it? lets mention the fact that when we touched the sword we saw her god, or at least the last moments of him. She might learn something cool!

Take Tog and Jericho with us!

>Hunting the summoned “Demons” in the east
If they somehow succeed, there's gonna be a lot of endangered humans. We should go out and help them, and we could potentially maneuver around the inquisition teams with some tactics and magic.

>The external god, god of knowledge
He probably made a few things before kicking the bucket

>The writting just drains me too much to feel like it.
>Not a real excuse but its what it is.
Writers block and chugging out posts can be a real drain. I've seen QM's quit wholesale cuz they're too tired, too out of creative juices, and too out of everything to continue. If it's becoming too much of a chore to make updates, you should probably relax and do something else for a while to get your almonds rolling. Unless this quest is your creative outlet then I dunno man.
>>

ngl that some good deepest lore. +1 for external god and wild patron.
>>
>>5409194
Meant to say grave, not grove.
The idea is that it was some mad fey master artist type that was obssessed with trying to create a race too, and in his madness he started putting pieces of his soul and/or body, and ended up dying surronded by his unfinished work.
The external god would then bury him and finish what he started, just without sacrificing anything since he knew gow to do it properly.
Tried to make the story have a bit of old children's fairytale feel, whimsical but still dark and with somesort of moral, since I thought it would be fitting for pixies.
Maybe this can be the bedtime story version parents tell their children to not be prideful or envious, and the real thing was more complex.

Thing I have notice when reading your coments.
The summoning of "Demons" in the east.
They are not summoning humans, Salazar told you, its something else but they dont know what.
And they dont know becouse whatever is comming through is killing all the summoners.

They are from earth but not humans.

After considering Rakta's offer, you decided to accept it.
You do not like it and the connotations bother you, it also worries you what it will happen with the sword and to her.
There are many reasons for you not to do it.
But if you did not do it, you would regret it, in addition to seeing if you could des indoctrinate a Chosen One.
If you succeed you would mean that you could live in tranquility in this world at some point.
Was that for what you were doing this?
To show yourself that you didn't have to hide?
Was it just a test?

You took those thoughts out of your mind and started this task.
You told her about control that the Church had about it and that it affected her perspective, you used yourself as an example of that.
She contradicted you by agreeing with you. She was a tool of Qothos, and even if it was frustrating sometimes, her work was to make the world better.
You tried to convince her that this was not incompatible with having a life outside the Church.
There was no afterlife and souls were only pockets of magic, that it made no sense to use her life without enjoying anything.
This argument is a bit more effective.
But Rakta had been raised in an atmosphere of personal sacrifice,
She made this clear to you with the passionate debate about responsibility.

You know she was just one of hundreds who had to live at the idealized standard of the original daughter.
You know that this is a good point, but that she is not prepared to accept it right now.
Although you managed to convince her of what Salazar said the first time he saw you.
"Humanity is not inherently evil, probably."

She collected her equipment and left the cathedral, nobody prevented it.
The sword was left in charge of the two inquisitors,
She had no interest in the weapon but to return to its legitimate place.

[Rakta is recruited, i guess]

> Hunting The Summoned "Demons" in the East
> Final Team: [Ghal, Flora, Emilia, Jericho, Tog, Hildra, Rakta, Ihlist]

Once with the team gathered, you decided to go to the east.
In order to join the demon hunt.
You really didn't know what you would find, but it was dangerous.
And your sense of adventure also boosted you,
And since you had the compass that Salazar gave you it would be much easier to find the creature, right?
You just had to deduce What was killing people.
Maybe a bear or a cat.

<Soul Resononator: (x Aberrance) (Points to the Nearest [INSERT Species Name] In 150 * x Meters Radius>

Ihlist gave all of you an inspiring speech about the power of money and that she would pay you if you helped her to capture or kill the demon.
Or demons, it was not yet known.
She only had an interruption and that was when she saw Rakta, that threw her off quite a bit.
But she continued talking and explaining the route that would be taken.
One that would cross a town that had been destroyed by this demon.
Ihlist had brought a cart because he didn't want so many people

So inside the truck was the usual group.
In addition to Tog, because he was studying the power armor.
Rakta, because she said it made no sense to go with the others
And yet your first day of travel was quite good.
With the exception of the incident in which Lucy scared Tog so much that he fell unconscious.
Something that you think had already happened, but you are not sure.
So with all the calm of the world, you stopped on the side of the road to camp.

[Road Event 1/2]

You awoke in the morning, the night had passed without a sound.
Ihlist prepared a meal, refusing to consume the rations you had bought.
Describing them as "a culinary incest between cardboard and leather shoes."
You didn't argue because she knew how to cook and it was free.

You were preparing to leave when you realized that some of your things had disappeared.
Although they soon appeared again.
In the refrigeration camera of the truck you found the book of psalms, the abominable tool and the laptop on the ground.
There were small burned marks on the ground and the computer had all its files opened.
This was weird.

This was not a problem, but when you asked the group, nobody knew anything.
So or someone was doing something odd and barely hid it, or someone had sneaked into your camp.
Which should be impossible with the truck closed at night.

Personally wouldn't argue with Ihlist because as a noble she inherently knows more about incest than most people.

Ok, list of people that might know about mischievous creatures: Ghal since he was the library receptionist, Rakta since she is a church girl, Flora and potato because spriggans.
Then

Although it is not like teleportation, which has rules that prevent it from happening, this would be game breaking.

>Ok, list of people that might know about mischievous creatures

You really didn't suspect that anyone in the group had done this.
So you asked your companions if they knew of any creatures that were "mischievous".
You knew it was something like that by metagaiming the last distortion game.
Although that wasn't your fault, it was an unavoidable side effect.
And unfortunately for you, OP invented half of all the lore on the spot.
You suffered some dizziness from the backlash of the fourth wall rebuilding itself and continued talking.

Ghal asked if perhaps it was a mimic.
Flora stated that after Philgo blocked some magic functions decades ago, they had all died out.
This led her to assert the superiority of Spriggans as magical creatures.
She also denied that it was a spriggan, since she would have noticed it.

She asked you if the thing you had in the vial hadn't escaped, but no, the blood plague clot was still there.
Squirming slowly in a clear liquid.
Rakta proposed that perhaps it was a necromancer.
Creatures built of matter that shouldn't be alive.
It would explain why they were searching your books,
but not where it was or how it had entered.
Ghal tossed another idea, one of the creatures across the ocean.
It was an explanation that did not help so it was discarded.

Tog proposed that it was your computer doing this.
His arguments could be reduced to the fact that he did not understand how it worked and was attributing sapiance to it.
You looked at the computer somewhat worried, but you were very sure that it was not the culprit.

>Take a look on the burn marks, see if you can detect nay magic
You investigated the burns on the floor very carefully.
There was no type of residue on them and what seemed burned was the floor itself.
A mark of that style without the use of fuel could only mean that they were electric.
That didn't help you too much for now.

You left magic detection to Potato.
The spriggan had a better view on this subject.
He told you that the truck had aberration cables similar to the computer and the abominable multi-tool.
You did know that the computer had magic in it, but not the abomination tool.
It had more functions that you did not know about?
When you asked how much aberration he had he told you that he wasn't sure.

The book of psalms did not have spells of any kind.
This shouldn't have surprised you, but you were expecting at least one protection spell.

>Use the compass. Invest 1 aberrance in each use, and try going for broad strokes? Search for magical beasts, abominations, constructs.

Using the compass to search for creatures in general led you to discover a couple of things.
Rakta was considered a magical beast
The servo armor and the multi tool were constructs.
And the laptop was an abomination.
The rest of the ideas were too general and nothing appeared.
>>
>Set a trap with invisibility

You had a more or less clear idea of what was happening
but you needed to prove it, mainly to yourself.
So you closed all the tabs from the computer, rehid your porn and set the old Doom game playing.

With the bait done, you prepared the trap.
You told the rest of what you were going to do and sat in the corner of the cold room with an invisibility spell.
The rest of the group took a break.
They were going to do things, but you didn't know what, you were sitting in silence.
waiting for something to happen.

The group had made a camp around the vehicles.
The human had given an explanation about having to set a trap for something.
He had asked a couple of strange questions and had locked himself in the back of the truck.
No one understood how he planned to catch anything if everyone was sitting outside camping.
Ghal stated that it was better to let him do his own thing and get on with their lives.

Ihlist was annoyed by the sudden stop, and amused herself by telling all the drama of her life to Jericho.
The young elf tried to put on a good face but he really didn't want to be there.
Tog would have rescued his friend, but Lucy was hanging around the camp,
So he had gotten on the truck, staying away from the omen of death.

Rakta and Emilia were sitting on some rocks at the edge of the green.
"What did Charmer said so you would come?" Emilia asked, excited by all the questions she could ask.
"My agreements with that man are none of your business."
Said the Chosen one, watching as Flora drained some trees of life, killing them instantly.
"And what is that thing exactly? Is she an elf?"
"I'll tell you if you answer this question," Emilia said with a grin on her face.
"Do all the Raktas treat each other like sisters or is it more like friends? And do Raktas make out with each other?"

"NO! That's blasphemous! How dare you ask that question?"
"Are you going to punish me? Is that your thing?"
"Fuck off, I don't have to -" Rakta stopped talking, seeing Lucy approach them with a massive dead dragonfly in her mouth.
"hey girl, what do you have there?" Emilia asked the cat, which gave no response.
The feline then dropped its prey and jumped on the lap of the Chosen One.
Much to her horror.

With her arms raised and trying to touch the cat as little as possible,
she tried to ask for help, but she was speechless, frozen in fear.
Ghal sat nearby to watch, contemplating the memories of his life.
And he began to speak, disappointed at what he saw in front of him.
"And you are a Chosen one? Terrified an emblem of a fallen civilization?
I remember Rakta, his favored daughter. I saw her briefly on a battlefield once, and you are just a reflection of her shadow."
Rakta was turning red, and now tears were coming to her eyes.
Seeing herself unable to act under the slightest psychological pressure.

"Wow Ghal, that's too direct. You cross the line from teasing to abuse." Emilia said, unsure where that hostility had come from.
"You are not better, you associate with the Master because you use him to hide yourself.
There is no memory of camaraderie in this world, only parasites and slaves.
I remember a world of horror, where the wilds surrounded us, and yet we were all united.
Where did it all go?”

"Come on big boy, lets go hunting." Hildra approached, having heard the conversation from afar.
She grabbed the Tyr by the arm and dragged him into the woods, where no one would hear the insults she was going to use.
"Hey, this...why don't you start out soft. Just pet her slowly, it will make her go away."
Emilia took Rakta's hand and guided her until the soldier calmed down enough to do it herself.
As predicted, after a few long minutes, the cat got bored and wandered off.
Probably to try to terrorize the other elves.
"Are you OK?"
The chosen one nodded, but she still did not speak.

….
And you were sitting in silence on the cold metal floor.

Little eyes in the abominable tool. You can saw them look at you, but they didn’t close fast enough.
You saw past the disguise!
Something was hidden in the metal, little vermin that was planted in you.
A trap set by who?

It did not matter, the intruder was discovered.
It tried to keep up the lie, even when you had stood up and picked it in your hand.
It did not waver in its resolution as you tried to pry it open.
Something you found impossible to do.

So you spoke to it.
At first soothing words, but it did not respond.
The interloper was committed to its role.
Your patience grew thin after speaking to it for too much time.
You pretend you didn’t care, saying that you would abandon it on the forest.
But there was no reaction
So you planned for containment.
You listed your plans of keeping it locked under key.
Your boundless curiosity fueling ideas for experiments
Things you said outload so the spy could hear you.

This finally hit, and the metal began to unravel.
It was only a matter of time until you got a response from it after all.

The handle of the tool became akin to cloth.
And from the inside of the slab of metal a diminutive humanoid arose.
The tools on its sides bended into armor and extremities.
A select few raised up above it, to transform into brittle wings.
A metamorphosis that was quick to act.
The creature jumped off your hand as soon as articulation was possible.
And the last embroidering’s took form.
A single lens like eye stared at you.
Mechanical chittering sounds accompanied its voice.
" ι тнιηк ∂єραятυяє ιs α мυsт вє.”

The way it spoke was confusing, and you wanted answer
"What? No, what are you? Do you have a name?
" ι'м мysєlƒ. α нσρє ƒσя α ηαмє ιs ι∂lє."
"What do you want?" you said tired of its shit.

It said patting the laptop
The machine did not react

[Created without thought.
Never to be held, I can be lost.
Treasured by the old, buried by the troubled.

>Make a spriggan handle for the polearm + talk to Flora

You've been planning this for quite some time, and you don't know why I've been putting it off.
You approached Flora and explained what you wanted.
The bases of a spriggan to serve as a handle for your weapon.
The goal being to gather aberrance when killing a creature.

"So you plan to turn our flesh into a tool? Wouldn't you rather I cut off your arm and put there the spriggan?"
"Would that arm work in an antimagic field?"
"A little."
"No then, can you make a handle?"

Flora thought about it for a while.
And she said yes
She spent a couple of hours working on it.
You watched her go layer by layer, inscribing runes into living wood.
But you didn't see in detail how she was doing it, she sent you away so you wouldn't see the secrets of creating spriggans.
That was knowledge she didn't want you to have.

The end result was the polearm with a handle that looked like a tree branch had grown around the metal.
>Rending Oakflesh Polearm = (1d8 + 3 slashing damage)(-3 to hit)(Range: Short)(2 hands)(0/6 Aberrance storage)(You can cast spells while you attack)(Gains aberrance on kill)

"Are you going to need anything else?" she asked you sarcasticaly
"First, don't mention the contract to Geth, the necromancer.
Second, do you need anything? We've been traveling for a while and I haven't heard any requests from you… except to let you kill people."

"I'm fine, it's quite entertaining looking for ways to get out of your contract.
It's been a long time since I've done something so dynamic and fun. If I ask you for something, it's that you stay alive.
If someone is going to kill you, it has to be me."
"Do I have to take that as a compliment?"
"Of course, this is very personal after all." she said winking at you.
Great?

>Learn Illusionist from flora
You continued with your lessons,
Still a novice, Flora kept you practicing simple illusions.
"Today we would cover the use of illusions simultaneously. But we have a necromancer nearby, so we can talk about illusions in that.
Polymorphism doesn't exist, or doesn't exist now at least.
The god of magic blocked almost the entire temporal transmutation branch.
So how did that creature present itself as an object?
First, his physical form allows him to get very close, but he uses an illusion layer to get the texture right.
There is a material to touch.
If we use illusions to cover a corridor, the only useful one would be visual.
Touch will not deceive the fact that there is nothing.
But you can for example make something feel wet to the touch.
>Illusionist(novice) (2/3)

>Movie night + [Road event 2/2 >>5399458]

New discovery, the power armor has a projector.
And that led you to decide to have a movie night.
Everyone in the group understood the concept.
In Democracy there was a company dedicated to making them with technology replicated from humanity.
Although the quality was black and white with the exception of some human films that had survived.
These were collector's items, which some traveling circuses used as their main attraction.

The Empire had the magic-assisted theater as a competing show.
Something that in some occasions could be superior.

That did not matter too much to you, since you had in your hands something that you had discovered was a luxury in this world.
So you started with something simple.
A monster fighting movie, your main reasoning being to see their reactions.
And these were mixed.
Tog and Hildra were confused, asking if this was fiction or some kind of documentary.
Ihlist made more promises never to get on a ship if those bugs existed.
Emilia and Flora made bets on who would win the fight.
And it was Jericho who informed you that Mothra looked a lot like the dragons here, though not quite.
Before he explained more, you heard Potato scream at the top of his lungs.
Lucy had caught it and taken a bite out of it.

You quickly pulled the spriggan out of Lucy's mouth.
And although you managed to save his life, Lucy had eaten a piece.
The crystallinities that had surrounded the spriggan since you injected them to him had emerged from her orange fur.
And so charged with aberration in a non-magical body, they began to release energy in violent discharges.

Lucy didn't seem to be in pain, but she was scared of the lightning emerging from her.

Does this mean Lucy will take +1 damage? Oof. Touch break.
We should teach her a spell since she can hold abberance now. Maybe we can teach her a spell to find the best places to nap?

Do we have some fish? Offer her some fish. Maybe tell her to come over so we can calm her down, as us running to her might freak her out.
>>
>Cast Sleep
> Try to distract her from her / calm her down (>> 5414656 + >> 5414999)
>Does this mean Lucy will take +1 damage?
No, she is not taking damage.

Your companions backed away, they didn't know how to deal with the situation.
And the fact that bolts of energy emerged from her worried you too.
Lucy didn't dare move in fear, her large eyes transfixed with every flash of electricity around her.

Your first idea was to use the sleep spell.
One of those spells those were very useful in all situations.
With your little notebook, you poured energy into the runes.
A fine mist surrounded Lucy, and had no effect.
[All creatures that are summoned come with this trait:
"Soulless": Magic can't put you to sleep or charm you.]
There was no fight against the spell, it just didn't affect her.
It was not something you knew, although it was good for you to know it because you were going to hunt something that came from your world.
But right now you had another problem to deal with

Your other idea was to try to calm her down.
Without approaching her, you tried to comfort her by offering her food and speaking softly.
This had an unexpected effect.
Lucy, focusing on you, ran in your direction while she was still shooting lightning bolts.
You really didn't have much time to react, the cat charged at you in terror.

[Make a Corporality roll Bo3 DC 15]
[Failure gives: Internal Injury = damage taken increases by 1, heals in 1d4 days]

You received several electrical shocks, and it hurted a lot.
But you stayed there to be a load of balance in aberrance.
You absorbed enough for the lightning to stop.
The crystals in Lucy's fur fell to the ground, though bluish stains remained permanently on her orange fur.
[Lucy can now hold aberrance, for better or worse, Lucy is now a Magic beast]

...

You had to rest after the incident.
But the group had not been still, the journey had continued.
You arrived at the village where a “demon” was supposed to have been summoned.
You had joked to yourself that it was maybe a cat or a bear.

You saw the place in the distance, stone and wood houses by the side of a stream.
Surrounded by green forests with very few trees and beginnings of swamps in the distance.
You didn't expect much here, Ihlist had commented that it was an unexceptional town.
Abandoned by the people of power once the gold in the stream ran out.
Today it was a town that did not see much traffic.
It was not well situated for any trade routes, and the swamps were too close for animal husbandry.

And yet it was a town that managed to mark you the first time you saw it up close.
In a deathly silence you saw the stone houses knocked down, leaving piles of rubble.
The others were uprooted, as if a tornado had thrown them around.
And the buildings that were left standing, were empty of life that could greet you.
And you just thought, this couldn't have been a bear.

>[Next threat we will make the investigation of the town.]

....okay so some concerns I have. If they managed to summon something from the past, I can image we might have to deal with a dinosaur or mammoth.
