Welcome back.

Rules are simple: Votes are tallied every hour, with whatever course of action being the most popular being the course of action taken. Write ins are encouraged and non-mutually exclusive votes will be combined if possible.

When a roll is called for, roll however many D100 are specified.

For a short summary for the new and to recap:

You are Alex. A newly minted trainer and camping enthusiast just starting out on your journey at the age of seventeen after your father lost his job in order to help pay the bills.

Last time, you helped clean up Silveridge museum, had a barbeque, said goodbye to Jean and her group, trained your team and battled Holly.

"So, who wants to get take-out tonight?" You ask.

"That sounds like a plan to me." Gareth admits. "The pub here actually does really nice meals."

Fie and Holly look at him startled.

"I went there on my way down to Origin Cave." He explains.

"Ah." You, Holly and Fie nod in understanding.

"Well, it's either that or the pokemon centre again." Fie says. "Got to admit, I've not been to the Silveridge Hotel, so this ought to be good."

You finish packing up and say your goodbyes to Darren before following Gareth through the town to the hotel.

It's a beautiful, old building on the outside and even though it's rather modern on the inside, the original Galarian decoration is still intact. It's also lovely and warm and you can hear the sound of talk coming from the bar, while the restaurant area is a little underoccupied right now. Mostly, it's locals here, though you do see a couple of trainers from last night who give your group a friendly wave as you go take seats.

On the big TV on the wall, there's a televised gym match being held. It looks a little bit like an exhibition match between two gym leaders.

>Ask Fie who they are.

You don't recognise either of them, but one of them is a swathy, muscular woman directing an Aggron, while the other is a huge bear of a man, in high-vis and grease-streaked overalls, directing a Machamp.

Despite the massive type mismatch, as you watch, you notice the Machamp keeps missing its attacks, as if it simply cannot see its opponent before the man, in apparent frustration orders Machamp to Lock-On, giving the woman an opening to launch a counter attack, her Aggron hitting Machamp hard with an Iron Head, before neatly blocking the Dynamic Punch that Machamp uses next.

You think the man's going to pop a vein, but his next order is for Vital Throw, but an order of 'Roar' results in a switch to a Breloom before Machamp can react, before the newcomer is pelted with Stealth Rock and Spikes and summarily Flamethrower'd.

You hear a scoff and look down to find Fie shaking her head. You're not sure if it's in embarrassment or disgust.

>Who's she?
>I take it that's your dad?

Fie nods.

"Yeah, that's him." She confirms tiredly. "Getting out-manouevred and trying to brute force his way through things, as usual."

You wince.

Even you know that trying to persist with a strategy that isn't working is a bad idea.

"He looks pretty mad." Holly observes as Machamp comes back out, gets pelted with Stealth Rock and Spikes and is knocked out by a Mirror Shot.

"Yeah, he views any sort of strategy outside of 'brute force' as cheating." Fie confirms. "You're going to have him shitting bricks with how you seem to like to battle, Alex." She predicts. "He hates stall tactics."

"How exactly is he still a Gym Leader?" Gareth asks with a frown. "I thought being a Gym Leader entailed having a high degree of skill."

Fie nods again.

"It does." She confirms. "The League's kept dad around for so long, despite his shortcomings, precisely because he's a one-trick-Ponyta." She explains. "He makes for a pretty good teaching tool for trainers, with regards to how important moves like Protect are, or how combining a Focus Band or a pokemon with the Ability Sturdy with Counter can make for a good tactic with the right support in the right circumstances."

"That sounds a little harsh." You note.

"It can be, but there's a way to do that sort of thing without getting crucified by the League. Support from moves like Recover or Drain Punch, for instance, but it's a bit of a niche strategy regardless." She admits, then gives you a thoughtful look. "About time I came through on that invitation." She admits. "From tomorrow morning until we hit Saltcoast City, wake me up when you get up to train and Cinder and I will start teaching you our martial art of choice."

Now it's your turn to nod.

"Sure thing." You say, before a waitress comes around and takes your orders.

When she's gone, you're left in a comfortable silence again.

>D'you think we're ready to face Darren?
>I think some more training or battling in the morning might be in order.

Holly you should take the opportunity to teach Checkers a new move like Protect or Confusion.
Also you should train your Barboach, it's a good matchup against Darren.
You need to rely on more than a single pokemon.

"So, who's your dad facing?" You ask.

"That's Justine. She's the Steel-type Gym Leader from Ferrisville." Fie says, then grins. "It's always a helluva match when we face off." She says. "This isn't exactly a master-class in what she can do, but it's pretty indicative of how good she is."

"Yeah, she's... really got your dad on the ropes." Gareth agrees politely.

"She's kicking his ass, is what she's doing." Fie corrects as Aggron knocks out a Hitmontop next, mid-Rapid Spin.

You nod, but the match is making you feel restless and under-prepared.

"I think some more training or battling in the morning might be in order." You say.

"Same." Gareth agrees. "Maybe we can have a look around town or something?"

"Maybe." You agree. "At worst, we can keep battling one another."

He nods.

"What do you think I should do tomorrow then?" Holly asks.

You think on that for a moment.

"Train your Barboach." You advise. "It'll be a good match-up against Darren."

She nods as your orders arrive.

You simultaneously feel your mouth water at the huge parmiagana and chips put in front of you and intimidated, because damn, that's a lot of food.

You find yourself wondering if you can even manage all that.

The user ID tags were a bad idea tho considering that most ISPs are dynamic due to shitty network providers.
The only countries that don't have those problems are like Romania and North Macedonia who have brand new infrastructure.

Eating the meal in front of you turns out to be a chore.

By the time you're done, you feel absolutely stuffed.

The barbeque last night had arguably healthier and better food and you've been eating well whenever you've stopped to camp, but man...

This was hot and greasy and you couldn't get enough.

Everyone else is absolutely stuffed as well.

It's a genuine effort to stagger back to the pokemon center and you're out like a light when you get to bed.

When your alarm goes off the next morning, you find Fie up and dressed already.

"See you in the court in five." She says, before heading out.

You throw on some clothes and follow her out and find her stretching alongside Cinder.

After some warm up, Fie starts running through some basics.

"So, first thing's first: You want to jump in the deep end and try sparring with Cinder?" She asks. "Or would you prefer to start with some basics first?"

"Hey, why not?" You ask rhetorically. "I've seen you spar with her. She's pretty good at holding back."

Fie chuckles.

"That's the spirit." She says, before you square up opposite Cinder.

There's a beat, before she's aimed a kick at your head.

You duck smoothly, then it's nothing but movement as you respond with a leg-sweep which Cinder jumps before her follow-up forces you to lean under her next kick and do an awkward back-kick to gain room to get back up and launch a counter attack.

It's obvious that Cinder is holding back, but she starts going as easy on you once you start to put her on the back foot and she starts throwing punchs into the mix.

She scores a few hits on you, very clearly pulled and takes the hits you score on her in stride before after what seems simultaneously like an eternity and all of ten seconds, Fie calls a halt.

"Not bad." She says. "No need to worry about your footwork and your kicks are on point. I think we'll just work on boxing for the time being and then work on tying things together." She suggests.

"Sounds like a plan." You agree.

Over the course of the next half hour, Fie runs you through the basis of stance, guard and how to throw ounches before giving you a brief demonstration.

Without a bag or something to practice on you have to shadow box, but you get the general gist of what Fie's showing you. You really want a bag to practice on, but so far as starts go, this was a pretty productive one in your mind.

After a quick breakfast, you all start towards the gym when you hear a familiar voice coming up from the direction of Route 2:

"Oi, Faggot! Got a minute? I want a word with you."

You stop and suddenly you're hit by a distinct feeling of whiplash.

That's probably the politest you've ever heard Mike address you and sure enough, he's striding towards you looking and smelling like he's in dire need of a shower and a laundry.

"Go, Volta." You order simultaneously.

Volta stretches as she appears opposite the swaying, frankly weird looking pokemon, which oddly, you recognise.

It looks like a primitive Grass-type because it is one.

Evidently, Darren doesn't ascribe much value to the stereotype of Rock Gyms being 'easy'.

"Rhyhorn, you're in. Rock Polish." Darren orders as he swaps before you can really process.

The low-to-the-ground behemoth glows as it starts to streamline itself and you get the sense you might be in a spot of trouble.

Darren apparently takes a ghoulish delight in subverting the expectation of anyone thinking they might have a speed advantage against him. Or an easy battle ahead of them.

Either way, you need to act now before you're completely overwhelmed.

"Low Kick." You order.

"Stealth Rock!" Darren orders simultaneously.

It's a pretty even race to move first, but it's a race that Kay O-o just barely beats Rhyhorn out on, sweeping its legs and sending it crashing heavily into the ground, knocking the wind out of it and leaving it sprawled in defeat.

"Rhyhorn is unable to battle." The referee pronounces, before Darren selects his next pokemon.

"You're a sharp one." He says. "Guess I better stop being fancy. Aerodactyl, you're in."

Uh-oh.

The prehistoric flyer roars as it does a tight loop before it pulls up hovering on Darren's side of the field.

You've got maybe a second to come up with a plan.

"Rock Slide." Darren orders.

"Aqua Tail." You counter.

Aerodactyl swoops in, dropping a broad swath of rocks at Kay O-o as he jumps, getting clipped by the debris before using them as footholds to jump to Aerodactyl, then slam it with Aqua Tail, resulting in it giving a shriek and crashing into the ground, just short of you.

"Let's see how you against this." Darren says. "Aron, you're up. Sandstorm!" He orders.

The diminutive pokemon appears and very quickly stirs a Sandstorm that makes it difficult for you to see and stings where it whips your face. An experience that Kay O-o is likewise subjected to.

"Dragonbreath." You order.

Kay O-o blasts Aron with dragonbreath, making it stagger and you're half convinced that you knocked Aron out in one go, but no, it's still in this, its outline changing from a healthy green to a sickly yellow from the attack.

It shudders as you watch, apparently paralysed from the blast it just took.

The sandstorm batters Kay O-o again and you frown as you see Aron recover, its aura reverting to a healthy green again before your eyes.

Either it wasn't hit as badly as you thought it was or Darren has some strategy in mind.

This is what a friend and I always say in nuzlocks when we spam calm mind or such with potions. Financial fair play victory. The joke is in European Union football league, Financial Fair Play regulation says that a club can't get indebted more than its worth. Thus, big club such as Paris Saint Germain can get indebted like 100 times what Fortuna Düsseldorf can, but they still respect Financial Fair Play. Commentators often present that as a good thing benevolent manager do for the love of sport instead of an hard and still unfair rule of the federation

"Low Kick, try and clear this up!" You order as you squint against the sandstorm.

"Endeavor." You hear Darren order as Kay O-o bounds in with an almighty swing that cleans Aron up and momentarily clears the sand before it closes in again as Aron body slams Kay O-o in response, making his outline shine the same angry red in your vision. The sandstorm isn't at its full fury after that sweep and Kay O-o ascapes the battering, but before your eyes, Aron's aura reverts to green again.

What the hell is going on?

You distinctly recall the referee saying that healing was forbidden and yet, they don't seem to be doing anything about this Aron.

As you watch, Aron is wracked by muscle spasms and Kay O-o collapses under the onslaught of the sandstorm, though he seems to have gotten his attack off, as a slight blue discoloration has crept into Aron's aura, like a bruise.

You recall Kay O-o, before slipping his ball onto your belt as the referee declares Kay O-o unable to battle.

"Volta, you're in." You say, releasing her again. "Double Kick."

"Rock Slide!" Darren orders.

Volta bounds forward and slams into Aron, then kicks Aron again, finally knocking the diminutive pokemon out.

"Aron is unable to battle. Victory to the challenger." The referee calls over the sandstorm, which slowly peters out before you both recall your pokemon and cross the field to shake hands.

(Part 1)
>>
>>5378119

"Well done." Darren says as you shake hands. "The Geode Badge is yours." He says, presenting you with a badge that is exactly that: A small geode that's been turned into a badge.

You clip it into its slot by Silveridge Town before you say anything.

"What was going on with that Aron?" You ask. "The ref said no healing and Kay O-o should've knocked him out three times over."

Darren grins.

"A devious little strategy, is what was going on there." He says. "I wasn't healing him, he just had some leftovers from tucker last night."

He goes on to briefly outline the trick, which admittedly is quite a clever one and you realise this was what Fie was talking about last night.

"If you hadn't have thought to have that Luxio of yours use Double Kick, you'd probably have gotten swept." Darren says. "Either way, now you know that little trick, I doubt it'll give you much trouble if you see it again." He adds.

You go up to the stands and meet Gareth half way.

"Rusty's the only one who knows it and he's out with a concussion right now." You remind Gareth. "No way he's battling with a concussion." You add seriously.

"...True." He says, sheepishly. "Well. Wish me luck."

You clap his shoulder, before heading into the stands to watch.

His battle is in someways tighter than yours and in other ways, easier:

He winds up using the full four pokemon he's allowed by the rules, two of which, Druddigon and Geodude, get knocked out, while Mien and his Riolu carry the day after a brutal battle with Darren's Aerodactyl.

Aron this time isn't even a speed bump, thanks to the Stealth Rocks.

Aerodactyl is another matter.

It takes a lot of manoeuvering on Gareth's part to bring it down and you're not sure it would've worked out if Geodude hadn't tagged Aerodactyl with Thunder Wave.

When the beast falls, Riolu is on the verge of collapse itself, having Endured a Wing Attack in order to deliver a Counter to secure the win.

Gareth all but collapses in relief after recieving his Badge before rejoining you.

In the aftermath, Holly looks hesitant.

"...M-maybe I'll challenge you instead, Fie." She says faintly. "I don't think I-"

"Oh, no." Fie says. "None of that. Get down there and have a go."

Holly looks doubtful, then nods and skips down to the arena.

This battle is a lot shorter than yours and Gareth's were and despite what you expect, it's not at all straightforward on Darren's part:

His team consists of Rollycolly, Alolan Geodude and Tyrunt.

Holly doesn't struggle as such, but if it weren't for her Barboach, she would have.

When the dust settles from a big Magnitude that knocks Tyrunt out, Holly has won, but not before her Feebas and Espurr got knocked out by it.

Darren congratulates her on her vistory before she wanders back to you in a seeming daze.

"Phew..." She manages as she collapses back into her seat, apparently exhausted. "That was nerve-wracking. I thought it was just tough on your pokemon, battling."

Somehow, by some Arceus given miracle, Mike isn't waiting at the door to ambush you.

You put your team in to get checked over and healed before settling down to wait.

It''s all of five minutes before they're back and you go to the PC to change up your team.

Blitz has probably recovered from his misadventure back in Newport now and Fluffy must be dying to see you by now.

You decide to swap her for Rascal.

He needs some more training, even with the marathon he's flown so far, but you doubt he'll mind. Especially considering that he won't be flying all the time.

With this taken care of and some last-minute notes for taking care of Nika, not that you think your dad needs to be told, you end the call and stretch.

You've still got that piece of amber to take to the museum, but the option is there to take it to Blackstump instead, although that is on the other side of Arnet and there's no guarantee it'll be worth it.

Before anything, you suppose you'd better take that fossil Jean gave you to the museum.

Even if you don't keep whatever pokemon they get from it for yourself, you're sure that it'll make a nice surprise for Gareth or Holly.

It takes no time at all to get to the museum and the man at the counter is quick to point you towards a counter off to his right where a lady takes the fossil off your hands.

"There's a bit of a wait on getting this processed and whatnot." The lady warns. "The smoke from that fire got into the machinery and damaged some components and the analysis components, so in the interest of not committing crimes against Arceus and nature like that psycho from Galar, we're shutting it down for a few weeks. Not that we have much choice, when it comes to the replacement parts.

"That's okay." You assure. "I'll just leave my number with you and we can arrange a pick up when you're done."

Filling out the necessary paperwork for this arrangement is fortunately, a painless process and when you're done, you set off tolook for Mike.

This finished, you send out Kay O-o.

"Stomp, Kangaskhan!" Mike orders.

"Low Kick." You order as Kangaskhan charges at Kay O-o.

They meet in the middle of the court.

Kay O-o gets his sweep off first, fouling Kangaskhan's Stomp somewhat, which has the effect of bleeding some of his momentum.

In the aftermath, Kangaskhan is hurt, but still up and Kay O-o is mostly alright.

Unless you miss your guess, Kay O-o and Kangaskhan are about equal in experience, or there abouts.

Knocking her out quick will be a big blow for Mike.

It makes you wonder if you couldn't train Kay O-o to bake Detect or a similar move into his movements, before he's finished.

"Taunt." Mike orders. Apparently, he's not willing to let you set up any more than that. You don't understand what Sneasel 'says' but with how Kay O-o bristles, you can only assume it wasn't very nice.

Sneasal hasn't even drawn breath before Kay O-o has slammed into Sneasal with a tail swing into its gut though, sending it tumbling back to Mike as Kay O-o snorts in evident satisfaction, glaring at Sneasal.

"Settle." You chide as Mike selects his next pokemon.

Kay O-o grunts. He's still riled up from that taunt clearly, but you suppose a prickly sense of pride from a Dragon-type is to be expected.

Staravia is probably still going to be faster, even with Dragon Dance's speed boost and it can fly.

Sure enough, Staravia tags Kay O-o, though to little effect from what you can tell, while in response, it gets caught full-on by the blast of indigo fire Kay O-o belches at it.

In the aftermath, it's wing beats are laboured and it's shuddering, apparently having been paralysed into the bargain.

"Endeavour!" Mike orders, clearly deciding that he's still got a shot of at least knocking Kay O-o out.

To Staravia's credit, it does get the move off, swooping in and slamming Kay O-o, hard, into the ground, but it has the effect of both coiling him tighter and giving him a direct shot at Staravia's gut.

When he launches, he bowls Staravia over and lands it flat out on its back on the bitumen, before landing nimbly behind it, hurt, but fired up and ready for more.

Mike for his part, recalls Staravia looking just a wee bit broken at having not just lost, but been swept by you, four nil by your first pokemon.

He looks like he's reining in his temper somewhat, which is unusual and honestly an improvement, but you feel compelled to give him some advice.

"If you're-"

"Shove it." Mike says, then storms off back towards the pokemon center.

Honestly, compared to trying to take a swing at you, that was a big improvement.

You don't have much else to do right now and Gareth and Holly are both intently studying their pokedexes while Fie takes a call.

This in mind, you head on over to where Mike is sitting.

He scowls as he sees you coming.

"If you're here to give me battling advice or tell me how to raise my pokemon, you can fuck off." He says bluntly.

"Nope. Nothing to do with battling." You assure. "Just figured you'd want to know a bit about how Team Green operates."

He gives you an odd look.

"Why would I want to know how a bunch of dumb, underfed yuppies operate? All I've got to know is they'll fold like paper if I so much as breathe on 'em." He says dismissively.

You grin despite yourself.

"Fair, but they don't fight fair. They're cowards."

"Well, yeah." Mike says. "They wouldn't be hiding their faces otherwise."

"They're also not just going to battle you. They'll gang up on you three or four to one and then try and bottle you while you're distracted." You persist.

This actually get's Mike's attention.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah. One of them cracked me over the head with a bike lock. I'd probably have gotten stomped the way they were going, if it weren't for the others and my pokemon. And I had about three of them out of the fight before them."

"What, with those stupid dance moves of yours?" He says skeptically.

"Nope. Just had a good Bug-type pokemon with me and she webbed them to the nearest building." You reply.

Mike snorts. Apparently the mental image of that is as amusing to him as the memories are to you.

There's just something funny about them webbed to buildings or kissing bitumen after trying to pick a fight with you.

"Alright then, what's your suggestion?" He asks, crossing his arms and leaning back in his seat.

"Get yourself a Sewaddle or any pokemon like them. Something most people are going to dismiss as not a threat." You advise. "Even better if you teach 'em Sticky Web," you add. "They're also super useful if you need a shelter in a hurry, 'cause so long as their silk is reinforced with sticks and crap, their silk'll hold up to pretty much anything short of a cyclone."

"If it turn's out you're fucking with me Dicko, I'm going to break your nose." Mike warns.

You decide to start with Blitz.

He barks happily and jumps up to lick your face when he sees you, before settling when you tell him to sit.

After that, you have him do some sprints up and down the court with you before you fish a tug toy out of your bag and quickly get into a tug of war with him.

You go back and forth around the court for nearly fifteen minutes before Blitz finally tugs you over onto your front, knocking the wind out of you before he returns to licking your face.

This is nice. Besides, it's been a while.

You decide to just sit and give Fluffy pats for the time being, much to his contentment, to the point that soon, he's fallen asleep on your lap.

You don't have to debate moving him for too long though as Gareth comes to find you.

"We've just finished up doing grocery shopping." He says. "Fie's kind of anxious to get a wiggle on." He explains.

"So, we're moving after lunch?" You guess.

Gareth nods.

"Yeah. So, try get your shopping done and grabbing anything extra you need or want before then." He advises.

Moderate amount of money (5000P)
Pokedex (Which includes a smartphone.)
First Aid Kit
Poke Balls x4
Potions x4
Ultra Ball x1
Paralysis Heal x3
Leppa Berries x3
Food for a day (mostly dried or preserved)
An extremely sturdy towel
A really nice tent
Nice sleeping bag
Tent carpet
Hiking Boots
Survival Knife
Hatchet
Shovel
Nylon rope 20 metres
Camp Grill, pots, frying pan, utensils
Travelling clothes.
A flashlight.
A headlamp and caving gear.
Camping shower and stall.
Secret Power TM
A grooming kit.
Pokemon toys.

There's the inventory. You used all your Pecha berries and you're basically out of food. And yeah, you're very low on poke balls.

Update either later on or tomorrow. Got a bit of a headache just now.

"The Rock Shop?" The Cashier asks. "Bit of a fixture around here. The owner goes prospecting in her spare time looking for opals." He explains. "She's got a knack for finding evolution stones though, so she sells what she finds. Apparently she's decided it's time for a clean out, so you ought to be able to get yourself a good deal if you get in there before next week."

It doesn't take you long to find The Rock Shop and sure enough, a sign in the window is advertising a 50% off sale.

It's an old building, apparently once having been the town mining exchange.

When you go in, you can smell dust and metal.

There're displays of semi-precious stones along with a display of evolution stones in a case with a thick perspex lid.

There're also horseshoes on sale and riding tack.

Behind the counter is a woman in a broadbrimmed hat with gnarled, sun-bronzed skin who gives you a pleasant smile as she looks up from the fossil she's painstakingly cleaning up.

"Good morning." She says in a slightly coarse voice. "You just here to have a look around or can I help you with something?"

Espeon and Umbreon evolve without stone. You get Espeon by leveling up with friendship during the day and the same for Umbreon but at night.

I'm guessing Nympheon is supposed to be Sylveon , the fairy evolution which you get by Eevee a Fairy-type move and having at least two levels of Affection (Generations VI and VII), or high friendship (Generation VIII), except in areas with a Moss Rock or Ice Rock.

"I was hoping to buy some stones, actually." You reply. "A Fire Stone and I was wondering if I could have a look around with my Eevee-"

The woman cuts you off.

"If you bring that Eevee out in here, I'll wring your neck." She warns sharply. "I've had too many kids whinging about their Eevee evolving spontaneously in here or refusing to pay for a stone that went spent on the shelf."

"Oh... Alright." You say awkwardly, then clear your throat. "Anyway, do you have any Fire Stones?"

"I turn them up decently often." She says. Just in that case there in the corner." She says, leaning over the counter and pointing with a probe at the case in question.

You gape at the price listed on the case. It's hefty to say the least, even with a fifty percent discount.

Still she has them and they are discounted, so it might be better to grab it and be done with it.

There seems to be more than just evolution stones in here though, so maybe it'd be worth having a look around.

>>

>>5396123

Before anything, you decide you need to talk with Fluffy.

You head outside and around the corner before releasing Fluffy, who stretches and looks up at you curiously.

"Hey, bud." You say, ruffling his ears as you crouch down. "I know I've said I want you to evolve into an Umbreon, but you don't have to." You say.

Fluffy flicks an ear as he gives you a curious look as you take out a pokedex and start going through the various evolutions with him.

He doesn't seem particularly interested in Jolteon or Flareon, but he examines Vaporeon curiously, along with Umbreon and Espeon when you get to it and actually shrinks back when he sees Sylveon.

So he is ok with Umbreon or Espeon, good. Get the fire stone so Blitz can become an Arcanine and let's get this show on the road, just remember to keep it far away from Fluffy so he doesn't accidently evolve into Flareon.
>>
>>5396180
>If Fluffy evolves day or night, you'll be happy for him.
>Go have a look around the shop.
I'd ask about Leafeon and Glaceon, but those are presumably still environment-based evolutions and we wouldn't know where to start in that regard.
>>
>>5396252
I actually didn't think of that. I am wheezing now though. Thank christ I wasn't drinking anything when I read that.

>>5396277
Yeah, they're still environment-based.
>>
>>5396289
So I take it next time we fight Team Green there's going to be a few Sylveons on their teams?
>>
>>5396293

Maybe.

The issue there is, for a trainer to have a Sylveon, the Eevee has to actually like said Trainer.

And considering how Team Green's inspiration are...

I doubt they're actually any good as caretakers, if you catch my drift.

'Vegan diets for cats' level retardation a happy pokemon does not make.

Taking Fluffy's reactions as indicators, you guess you'll be happy with Umbreon or Espeon.

You definitely have a preference, but you'll be happy for him whichever way he ends up choosing.

"Alright. It's your choice either way, bud." You say, petting him again before returning him before heading back to the shop.

You buy the Fire Stone first of all before having a look around.

The woman running the shop has certainly accrued quite a collection.

You're not sure what half the stones and rocks on display are or what they do, but a few questions get you an idea of what she has and what they do.

The colourful quartz clusters along the wall have an effect on moves like Sunny Day, Rain Dance and Sandstorm, extending the effects of said moves, while the small, dense haemetite chunks on the shelf below it are Hard Stones, which are apparently loved by Rock-Type pokemon and boost the power of Rock moves.

On the opposite wall, a collection of convoluted crown-like rocks turn out to be King's Rocks, which are required for the evolution of certain pokemon and also apparently boost the effectiveness of moves that cause flinching like Headbutt, which makes sense looking at how jagged some of them are.

There's definitely some interesting stuff in the shop, but it's all pretty expensive, even with the discount.

Besides, you're wasting daylight you could be using to make tracks for Saltcoast City.

You thank the woman behind the counter then head out.

Sure enough, the others are packed and getting a little training in when you get backed.

Fie wastes no time in helping you pack your groceries before you head for the edge of town.

"What kept you?" She asks as you walk.

"There was a sale at a boutique that sells evolution stones." You explain.

"Ah." Fie nods. "Yeah, I know the one. It's a nice little store. There's another like it in Blackstump Town that has a different selection as well." She adds. "What'd you buy?"

"A Fire Stone."

"Nice. For your Growlithe?" Gareth asks.

You nod.

"I'll use it once he's gotten some more training." You say.

"That's probably a good idea." Fie agrees. "There's nothing quite as destructive as an Arcanine that still thinks it's a little Growlithe pup. Or one that's not quite gotten basic obedience down. Your little guy is good, but you're going to want to keep an eye on him for the time being."

"I'll do that." You assure.

It's cloudy today, but it's not going to rain, if you're any judge.

Route 3 is on the short side as well, so you could probably make Saltcoast City tomorrow night if you pushed.

There's a beat where everyone takes in the field, before orders are given.

"Syurm, Electro Web!" You order.

"Counter, Riolu." Gareth orders.

"Umbreon, Assurance on Riolu."

"Bubblebeam, Seadra!"

Oddly enough, Syurm is first off the mark and lobs a arcing, glittering web of golden silk at Umbreon and Seadra as the latter pelts Riolu and her with bubbles.

Umbreon doesn't seem too badly hurt by the shock, but Seadra is another story with how it cries out and sways in the aftermath.

In the aftermath, Umbreon bounds up to Riolu and shoulder-checks him, sending him staggering and swaying, before Riolu's counterpunch skids it back past the Gentleman, completely knocked out though Riolu looks like a light breeze could knock him over as a result of the attack.

Apparently these two actually take training semi-seriously.

"Quick Attack!" Gareth orders.

"Razor Leaf!" You say simultaneously.

"Dragonbreath that Riolu!" The Beauty orders simultaneously as her beau recalls his Umbreon.

Riolu dashes forward and tags Seadra, before before promptly being blasted in the face with indigo fire.

It's looking rough in the aftermath and Syurm's Razor Leaf puts it down hard as Gareth recalls his pokemon, leaving Syurm the only one left on the field, more or less fine, except for the Bubblebeam.

The couple stair at you, dumbfounded.

"Well now, I can't say I was expecting that." The Gentleman says with a chuckle. "I was expecting your friend's Riolu to be the main offense, rather than that little Sewaddle." He says.

You're about to reply when Sewaddle begins to glow.

"Look at you." You say as you pick Syurm up with a grunt. "Aw, you got heavy." You manage as you put her back down carefully.

She gives you a semi-sleepy look before promptly nodding off.

You guess she'll be doing that a lot for the time being.

Shaking your head, you return her with a smile before looking at the man with a vague thought to asking if you can introduce Fluffy to his Umbreon.

"Something on your mind, son?" He asks, catching your look.

"Oh, just a thought. I've got an Eevee myself, I was just thinking..." You say a little awkwardly.

"Of socialising them with my Umbreon?" The man guesses with a knowing look. "Ordinarily, that wouldn't be much of an issue, but I'd wager that you'd all like to get a move on and to do that properly, Umbreon would have to be in a state for it, which at present, he's not." He says drolly.

You nod with a grimace.

"Fair." You agree.

"No need to be sheepish for a battle like that. Either of you." The man says, looking between you and Gareth. "Still, my daughter and I had best be leaving." He adds.

"Alright, see you." You reply before you part ways.

When they're out of earshot, Holly starts giggling.

Ok, I figured it out. Holly knows the girl and his happy she was not spotted.

Whatever she finds so funny, she doesn't seem inclined to volunteer it to everyone, so you decide to leave her be.

You've got a long way to walk yet and only so much daylight to be going on with.
