You are Kynigos the Ancient, a mysterious traveling mystic who has arrived to the city of Loc'ea, in the hopes of bringing prosperity to this land desolate of freedom and virtue, that is named Nuceria. Having trained the urchins and beggars of the slums and poorer districts of the city how to defend themselves with martial arts, while sowing the seeds of wisdom amongst them by tutoring and instructing them in the hopes they would one day share your worldview shaped by the hardships and lessons of your life long Journey, you then used your discerning eye to your benefit in the arena grounds, earning a fast fortune by betting on fights the outcome of which no other could predict, and then, having covertly freed the slaves you purchased with this wealth, you were granted an audience with the ruling family of Loc'ria, who had sought you out in the hopes somewhere in the vast troves of your knowledge lied the secret to free them of a mysterious plague that had befallen their house.

In truth it was scurvy, and you are not the withered, crooked back wanderer known as Kynigos, you are Lieren of Nothing, who has traveled from Shangrala in search of one of his lost brothers, bound in iron chains. Having spread the Journey amongst the oppressed lower classes of Loc'ea, and cunningly earned a position of power and station of high respect within the palace and court of the Loc'ria clan by applying basic knowledge of nutrition and health, you used the privileges and powers afforded to "Frail Kynigos" as the highest and most honored diplomat and herald of House Loc'ria to further the spread of the journey amongst the destitute and poor, while also ensuring your gladiators would spread it to their fellow fighters within the arena.

Having given the task of traveling to the slums of other cities to the most skilled and cunning of the sect of beggars, thieves and peddlers you have formed, you realized that you had already stood before the bridge that would lead you to your brother's cage. As Kynigos, you had earned something of a reputation as a lover of the arena, who spent most of his time in the stands or in the school he owned, teaching and raising a crop of fighters of such excellence there were even whispers they could, perhaps, one day produce a challenge to the "Lord of the Red sands"

An epithet you knew belonged to your collared and enslaved brother, the "Unbeaten" as he was called by many. And, while you are prone to constructing and following complex plans, you are also, at the core of your nature, a pragmatist despite your idealistic belief and emotions as powerful as a storm raging through the heavens to strike and split the earth below. So, not long after you had set in motion the dissemination of the Journey's teachings and values, you approached on of your "Fellow" patrons of the arena.

Which in truth, you held with total disdain as a financer of the most cruel sort of blood sport, and were you not focused on your kinsman well being, you have seen this man, a conniving, greedy tax collector of the likes of the long dead Ling.

"Eh? Don't tell me you're success as Lanista has given you a big head, old man" The blubbery fool chortles as he shoves a handful of grapes down his gaping, greasy maw, flecks of roasted bird and stewed fruit clinging to the dirty, bramble of a beard he wears "The Thal'kr will not part with their favored dog! He has brought them much wealth and influence through his victory in their arena, which as you well know is already the most profitable and popular of tournaments hosted this side of the Desh'elika, if not all of Nuceria! Hah! Even if you had such grand success when you were a young, hale man, you would not have enough wealth to purchase Angron from his house by time you twice the age you are now, Kynigos! And unlike your friends and employers here, the Thal'kr will have your head if you meet them with the same brazen audacity you treat all men your younger! Which is all men!, Har!"

You wipe spittle from your face, smiling as you groom the beard of your mask of Kynigos in thought.

"Perhaps, or perhaps this weary hunter possess wisdom worth more than all the gold of Nuceria's deep mines" You says smugly as you look to the fight, watching your man force a yield against his opponent, to the dissatisfaction of the bloodthirsty crowd, you smirk grows wider as you watch him whisper into his ear, a lesson of the journey you knew would resonate with the killer's closed off and ice cold heart, and so, a new journey men walks from the sands of the fighting pit, arm and arm with his brother who had moments before been his deadly enemy

"Besides" You say as if pondering out loud "I never said I wished to purchase the man, I was simply curious. A man as old as I, only has so many days left to pursue his dreams, and my blood doth boil when I watch the men of the arena clash their blades and exchange blows, the aroma of read sand soothes this mind of mine weary from long, and lonesome years"

"Oh, you just wish to attend one of his matches before your time is up? Ah, I see, I see. I suppose then, you will have nothing to fear" The bloated trader of death purred as he scratched his jiggling chins with his greasy hand, before dipping it back into the bowl of peeled grapes he kept balanced between his blubbery thighs "Still, Desh'ea is quite a distance away from fair Loc'ea, and the season is turning dry and arid, a man of your extreme age and frailty may not survive halfway to its walls. Perhaps, you should wait until the weather is kinder, more relenting, and then make the trip, eh?"

"I have lived long enough to know what I can survive" You say, rising from your seat, no longer able to even tolerate the company of this bloated tick of a man, and not wishing to make a scene by driving the fork he was poking in a block of melting cheese through his eye socket and into his brain to kill him swiftly and mercifully remove his presence from the already foul airs of Nuceria.

Besides, he had served his purpose, the thankfully brief conversation had revealed to you the location of your brother's interment. Now you simply needed to travel there without arousing suspicion, either with your "masters" of house Loc'ria, or his own oppressors.

As swift as a raging wildfire, your mind worked to concoct a fitting alibi to explain away your sudden interest in Desh'ea and its prize champion.

What excuse do you use to travel to the grand arena of Desh'ea without arousing suspicion, Lieren?

>The nobles who have realized the value of the Journey and its truth, will decide, on their "own" accord, to invite you on a holiday to Desh'ea, in thanks for the good you have already brought to house Loc'ria and Loc'ea

>You will create a fake plan to bind Loc'ria with the Thal'kr through marriage, an offer to escort their heir to meet her potential suitors.

>Just travel there. You will soon have little need for the mask of Kynigos, and there is no time to be wasted on such frivolity as creating a false narrative to hide your presence

>Plainly state you need to fill your stable of fighters, and intend to approach the Lanistas of Desh'ea to procure "Fresh blood" for your school and stables

As much as I enjoy Lieren being Kynigos, Angron's been in the carpool pickup line for too damn long.

The informing of our leave will not tale any significant amount of time, and we could probably organise transport.

We have no idea how meeting Angron will go and if we already went this far with our infiltration why would we throw it all away for nothing?

They won't sell Angron but we can overpay for his comrades perhaps. Simply moving them offsite should make any plan we decide on (jailbreak, disappearance etc.) more feasible. The nobles we come with could make buying Angron's comrades less suspicious as well.

Regardless, we can set up a cover and sneak on ahead alone if we're worried about time and let our cover story show up after we have seen Desh'ea with our own eyes.

We can get his men out first. Then we'll break him out in the middle of the night..... With fire and blood.

And none will suspect the old man with the gladiator slave caravan.

Travel-training trip.

We have freedmen gladiators who fight in the arenas for us willingly. We can bring the best of them to watch and learn from the best by viewing some matches of angrons.

Their presence, will also allow a pretense for some contact if they are willing to spar with him and canonically, angron spares those who fight bravely and skillfully even. Through them, he can be informed of our presence and we can meet.

I think this will give us our best in with Angron. If we can buy out some of his fellow gladiators, and give them the closest thing to freedom they can have before the revolution kicks off, and treat them well, that will do a ton for a relationship and his mental well being.

btw peeps, don't forget that Angron is already an active psyker. He was taking his fellow gladiators pain via psykerism.
>>
Dudes, Gentlemens lend me your ears.

Clearly the only correct time to throw off our deception as Kynigos is when we meet Angeron for the first time. He'll be well impressed.
>>
>>5351820
The correct time it never.
>>
>>5351843
There will be a time for honesty. We cant live a lie forever on the world, nor should we.

But dropping it for Angeron may be what we need to make sense.
>>
>>5351699
Oh yeah, I forgot this setting is all about maximum tragedy.
Of course the canonically insane daemon prince of murder would actually be an empath.
>>
>>5351820
In private, sure. I see no reason to deceive him since he's likely to be invaluable in planning his own rescue.
Then there's also the reasonable assumption he would appreciate the transparency and be elated to realize he's not completely alone in terms of blood.
>>
>>5351916
That’s a hot load of shit. Lieren is fully okay with lying, especially when it’s not harmful. Him lying for a joke is a good example. He often doesn’t tell the whole truth.
>>
>>5351967
>innate power allows him to see the truth in all things

like fucking poetry.

Y'know what, both sides of the same coin is actually a pretty interesting trait for a legion.
>>
>>5352005
Don't forget what happened to our Legion as started talking to them
>Preach harmony and unity above all things while denouncing zealotry and mindless worship
>Legion immediately divides itself into sects and starts treating your words like gospel
>>
btw, kekking taht we're also doing something our father did back in the day too
>>
>>5351967
I really dont think that it is in lierens best interests to continue to lie when it no longer serves any purpose and is just an active detriment the longer it continues.

Like when the inevitable war of cleansing occurs, are we going to continue to pretend to by an old man as we lead these demigod soldiers with our beggar sect against the high riders? Why? And if that lie comes out AS a lie, then we have done a massive blow to our credibility.

Are we going to lie to Angeron with this false face? Keep it going forever and ever?
No, of course not.

I will revise my statement and say that it is within our abilities to live a lie on this desert world, but eventually we wont need to and to continue pretending to be an old man will breed more resentment than anything else.
So yes, there WILL be a time for honesty. Either with our brother or when the war begins in earnest.

I believe this is you trying to assert an opinion as fact. Why would treating Kynigos as different person be a bad thing? It would quite awful to make it known that Lieren solves all problems in the history mankind for it make everyone more dependent on Lieren. Likewise it would pull attention from Angron's own efforts if Lieren solves all.
For the people that want to reveal the truth to Angron, I think it would be bad for Angron's long term growth. Having Angron know he got saved by his brother rather than a random old man will affect his growth trajectory. If a random old man defeats Angron it becomes a lesson in how appearance can be decieving, how skill can triumph sraw strength, and the value in experience. If we defeat him as the older brother it becomes more about us being the better Primarch then anything else and everything he learns becomes tainted from that knowledge. Everything becomes about how Lieren is the better Primarch.
>>
>>5352051
Pretty much what happened to the emperor too...

But let the little munchkins learn through religion until they become greater munchkins...
>>
>>5352128
>Are we going to lie to Angeron with this false face? Keep it going forever and ever?

While i understand your point and agree... especially with your wholesome view point.

I view the deception as basically going:

"hey... bro... look at what i can do... tehe"

And given that Angeron thrives on conflict this might just be enough to give him pause for thought rather than just going all blood for the blood god.
>>
>>5352128
Dude, the face of Kynigos is useful for however long we decide to opperate in secret on this planet, we can very easily speak to angron in private to reveal who we are, and then swap back to Kynigos as we explain how useful the face is for now. This isn't some grand secret that we're hiding for the fun of it. Its a useful cover we can still get milage out of and discard later. Angron won't bite our off for that.
>>
>>5352223
>Angron won't bite our off for that.
>>
>>5352196
Because its a case of "you let us spent days, months, years (probably not years in all honesty) believing that you were somebody else. You dont trust us with your actual identity, and everything you have ever said is now brought into question because you entered our lives with a lie and have done so with such flawless ease that nothing you say can be taken on anything but faith, which you clearly dont have in anybody here."

Being lied to, even with good reason, sucks ass. Being lied to for no reason and in such a way as to damage your credibility and others ability to trust you is even worse.
Its home you get traitors and lose allies because they believe you have disrespected them and taken them for fools.

I'm not going to reply to the idea of fighting Angeron in this guise, because I think that's a bad idea with too little reward for so much risk.
I also disagree on the idea that it becomes about Lieren fixing all the things, all the time to tell Angeron of our identities. Especially as the player base has, over the previous thread, thrown the concern backwards and forwards and come to a few conclusions, one of which is involving Angeron in his own battles and simply acting as a facilitator. Which he needs, as evidenced by canon where he was unable to escape his own confinement properly.

>>5352223
I know how useful the false face we have constructed is. I know it still serves a purpose. And I am not advocating for its discarding until it becomes a liability rather than an asset. But my words are directly in refutation of this post.>>5351843

Which says directly "the correct time to throw off our deception is never". And that is wrong.

Angeron and the Beggar sect will learn of our true identities eventually. And that should be when we no longer need to move secretly.

>Angron starts his rebellion with a new comrade 'Kynigos' at his side, a cantankerous old man
>Kynigos manages to spirit his other comrades to safety allowing him to take the fight to his 'masters'
>A bloody campaign lasting months during which Kynigos' advice and wisdom prove invaluable saving lives and out maneuvering the High Riders
>It is strange as the poorest seem to flock to his side and even the nobles turn on each other some preaching freedom and equality
>Angron cannot place this new friend, he calls himself his ally and acts as a wizened mentor while his contempt for the tyrants somehow matches his own
>Kynigos show his age when he snaps and belittles some bloodthirsty gladiators for wanting a massacre as revenge
>Kynigos even going so far as to thwack Angron himself with his walking stick when he agrees with the gladiators
>Angron is unmoved and so Kynigos collapses claiming his age has caught up with him and he lies in bed near death
>Angron rushes to his side offering a thousand apologies to this serendipitous friend
>Kynigos begs Angron to swear to show mercy where possible and to temper his rage and only unleash it up the deserving
>Just as Angron is about to swear the oath the sky lights up and a star winks into being in the sky
>How auspicious
>Sudden a voice like an angry goddess psychically whips across the world shouting into every mind
>LIEREN YOU BASTARD! WHERE ARE YOU, DAMNIT !?!?!?

>"A thousand apologies, my brother. My emerald songbird calls across the horizon for me."
>Angron immediately swears his soul to Khorne

Win some lose some.
>>
I think we need to show ourselves to our brother asap. Show him we've come as we swore an oath we would. Ask him then how he wants to go about this rebellion, teach him the journey a little and let him know we've been sowing seeds whole looking for him. He needs to know he has someone's love and trust
>>

Leiren takes the Russ route. Taunting Angron for falling for it. Where upon we swear never to lie to him again except for comedic purposes.

Because as brothers we need to keep each others on our toes.

Result

>>5352250

Yeah i suppose you're right. He'd probably only value directness.

Let the victory lap commence as we crusade to our brother like a snowballing crusade.
>>
You know, the way we've gone about saving Angron is almost painfully similar to how Lorgar would do it. We showed up quietly, started subverting their society with the POWER OF RELIGIIIIIOOOOONNNN and are moving pretty slowly as to avoid unnecessary damage or bloodshed
Where many of our brothers would have just popped out, beelined to Angron, and started conquering as soon as they landed
I don't think Pops will be happy with us when we actually take an active role in the crusades
Angron might be grateful that we left him shit to conquer and actually do the work himself instead of being Mortarioned
That is if we don't keep up a facade of being a happy old man the entire time. If we did that Primarch pride would call for our head for babbying and misleading him and probably lead him to chaos anyways
>>
>>5352313
hate to break it to you but Lorgar was retardly slow. Also Dorn uplifted and fixed up the planets he brought into compliance and was still moving faster then lorgar.
>>
>>5352313
There's doing it fast and then there's doing it right.
The infrastructure (if it exists) needs to be preserved, lest the planet end up costing a fortune to retrofit.
The leadership, should they prove loyal to the Imperium, needs to survive, lest we waste valuable time and resources shuffling politicians around.
The civilian population shouldn't have any credible reason to hate us, lest they foolishly attempt to rebel or fall prey to Chaos.
>>
Malal save us, the autism is too strong!
>>
>>5352255
Personally, besides the comical arrival of best Ship, I think this would be one of the best routes to take.

I like the idea of angron getting to conquer his own world, with us just nudging him forward just enough so that his victory is his own, rather than a gift handed to him by his brother. Primarch’s are naturally very proud individuals, even Lieren has times where he is prideful.

Angron needs to be allowed to conquer his world on his own, to gain experiences both martial and personal, with only enough interference from Lieren to prevent the fate of his loss and fall.
>>
>>5352372
we don't need a disguise to let him have his own victories. we can still nudge/advise him if he knows our identify. I don't get why you guys think the planet is so easy that we will just do all of Angrons work for him.
>>
I say we help as an advisor role, conquering a world together is great bonding after all! We can practice working with other Primarch, we can bond and share the glories of conquest together! Make him more an Iskander figure than Spartacus
>>
>>5352313
False. We can't do that. They have Archeotech weapons. We do need an army for the conquering part.

We're doing the cold war communist route.
We're stirring unrest/uplifting amongst the poor through our JOURNEY/MANIFESTO!
Then we're subverting the upper class by playing the ACADEMIC/TEACHER!

And then when things bubble to a boil we GLORIOUS REVOLUTION!

But since we're not an idiot, we make good laws and give people british common wealth/free market style economics so we don't crash and burn.

We are still going to need to get to Angron first because all this is a Secondary Objective at best.
>>
>>5352372
Angron won't see it as that though. The primarchs are one and all pridefull to a fault. What Angron will see it as is us manipulating him, pushing him to act and war how we want him to, using him as a tool, patronizing him
At the very least we need to reveal ourselves to him if we're to gove him advice
Otherwise Kyngios and his beggar sect will always be an area of suspicion for him, something that a god like Slannesh or Tzeentch can tempt him with, and when he learns the truth, that we facilitated his conquest, that we lied to him for all these years to save his ego, that he didn't even earn his own freedom, that he wasn't truly the one to save his people, well he'll blow a gasket
>>
All this Angron deception is real gay ngl. Let's just meet him, chat him up, and collaborate with him on how to start the rebellion. Two heads are better than one right?
>>
>>5352465
That's what I'm saying.
We have nothing to hide from Angron, so why not just meet him as his brother?
>>
I think this might be the stupidest argument this quest has had yet. Can both sides please shut the hell up?
>>
>>5352475
Pretty much, we should keep the mask for the public but talk with him as Lieren and you know, ask him how he wants to do this? We can help him and offer our experience but if he wants out to start a rebellion or play a longer game, its on him.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Cy7t-vzz7U

Oh look a synopsis for the guy we came to save.
Okay we need to ensure that those nails disappear before they stick those in his head.

And it seems like he's got the Paladin package.
He's got empathy and the ability to absorb pain from his allies. And the ability to resist even the worst suffering.

And since Lorgar is the "Cleric" they should be paired together to reinforce loyalty and hope instead of the crap that happened in canon.
>>
>>5352487
Trying to get all the nails to disappear is going to be a piece of work. There canonically are supposed to be thousands of butcher's nailed gladiators in below the arenas. And they wouldnt likely be throwing away archeotech unless they have some sort of production means like some fucked up STC machine that only fabricates the things or what not. Especially when you consider the rate of usage for those nails.
>>
>>5352488
We've erased larger example's of mankind's hubris before. It'll be done.
>>
>>5352488
Well... we could bomb the room/s they're kept in. We still have that nuke stashed somewhere right?
If not then there's probably an armory we could raid for ordinance.

We'll still need to arm and equip the rebellion.
>>
>>5352488
It will be a bloody work to eradicate. But we will manage it.
>>
>>5352478
Fair enough. Bonding through brotherly conquest is also Narrativly entertaining
>>
>>5352478
I agree, Angron would understand the help of Lieren, once explained the sheer military might of this tyrants. Any small gladiator rebellion would have simply never worked. Lieren himself judged their soldiers incredibly dangerous, and they had powerful weapons just for a simple hunt while half on drugs/drunk. Meaning, all Primarchs if in the same position of Angron would have never get out, unless with help from outside the arena.
>>
>>5352487
This sounds good.

I mean, i think lorgar is a loose cannon and theres no amount of politics that can heal that. But its entertaining to try and reimagine him as a paladin.

I mean, in real life i'd just leave the fucker, i have zero fucks for people who enjoy their own pain.

What? Angron didn't enjoy pain. He was a depressed lobotomized support tank who got hit by a nerfbat, the emperor not giving a fuck and then died.

Then he got repurposed by Lorgar into a daemon prince running on pain and rage.

It's quite literally the opposite of what I said.
>>
I think he had Lorgar in mind, anon. Whom did enjoy it, since he had a martyrdom complex.

I guess I should also vote.

>Plainly state you need to fill your stable of fighters, and intend to approach the Lanistas of Desh'ea to procure "Fresh blood" for your school and stables

The locals here are far too well armed for us to just simply abandon a perfectly fine secret identity, though I agree with other anons that we should be honest with Angron.

Calling the vote now.

Just travel there. You will soon have little need for the mask of Kynigos, and there is no time to be wasted on such frivolity as creating a false narrative to hide your presence:3
-Plant as many seeds like the ones planted in loc'ea along your travels:1

Plainly state that we need to fill our stable of fighters :14

The nobles who have realized the value of the Journey and its truth, will decide, on their "own" accord, to invite you on a holiday to Desh'ea, in thanks for the good you have already brought to house Loc'ria and Loc'ea:8

You will create a fake plan to bind Loc'ria with the Thal'kr through marriage, an offer to escort their heir to meet her potential suitors.:1

So Lieren will plainly state he needs to fill his stable of gladiators, and intends to approach the Lanistas of Desh'ea to procue "Flesh blood" for the Arena of Loc'ea

And once again, the simplest choice is the most effective. You, as Kynigos, are a well known patron of the arenas, and something of a rising star amongst the Lanistas that supply the gladiators to the killing games. Due to your treatment and training of those slave fighters whom you have purchased and freed, the gladiators raised and tutored within the school you purchased to serve as their home have risen to become the stars of Loc'ea's tournaments and renowned for their skill in battle and "Humiliating" shows of mercy. It wouldn't be unreasonable then for you to seek out other, hidden gems of the arena who could be cut, polished and refined into warriors as great as your current stock of fighters. With victory in the arena, comes prestige not only to the fighters, not only to the owners who leased them to the bouts, but to the rulers of the city state itself. While you have only been in the service of house Loc'ria for a short time, you are trusted above all their other servants and vassals. You saved their lives, so they trust their wealth and social standing to you. They wouldn't raise a single complaint if you asked permission to travel to the coliseums of their rivals in search of talent to appease the mob of Loc'ea and ensure their ruler continues as peacefully as it can upon the blood soaked sands of Nuceria.

So you do just that, and bring up the matter during the midday day mean you share with Lycuarch, his close family and most trusted of advisors and officials. And just as you anticipated, the patriarch of house Loc'ria is all to willing to permit the endeavor and recruitment of fresh gladiators into your personal school and employ when you bring it up between courses, suppressing your outrage at the sight of the excessive portions of their feast and the cost of each dish, each of which could feed an entire block in the slums of Loc'ea. Lycuarch pauses in his praising of your wisdom, to reprimand one of his cousins, who has taken to the Journey's lessons like a swallow to the skies, angered that he is only taking enough to satiate his hunger, rather than piling his plate high with meats stewed in honey and milk, and roasted berries served atop an aged and oozing block of cheese that you know is worth several months of wages of an well trained and oft commissioned artisan. You keep silent, as the master of the house, tipsy already, mocks and tease his kinsmen, whose even shaved his head in a show of piety and humility, unlike the long, braided styles favoured by the tyrannically and virtueless members of house Loc'ria.

And, for the same points he shames and humiliates his own cousin for, he praises you, calling what he named as ingratitude in his nieces and nephews as temperance and frugality when you eat a single brined olive from your plate, and where he derided them for taking cups of water flavored with citrus and petals instead of dark and sour wine, he applauded your concern for your health.

And he did so in the same sentence, rudely turning to even his own brother, with a mouthful of food, grease and wine, to scold him for the same virtues he had a moment before praised in you. You wipe your hands on a white cloth, waving away the servant who came for you to dry your hands upon the curled hair of his scalp, as your nearest neighbor at the table grinded his teeth in frustration. You saw his hands drift to the knife on his plate, and a plan begin to form to kill the tyrant he saw before him. Disguising the motion of dissuading him with a wag of your finger, you passed him a plate of ripe, sugar powdered dates which he used to distract himself and hide the gnashing of his teeth.

You might not have a chance to hang Lycuarch, his own kinsmen might judge and execute him before you have the chance to personally bring the high tyrant of Loc'ea to justice and expose all of his crimes and follies to the populace he had long kept pressed beneath his iron fist, though the possibility doesn't concern you in the slightest. So long as his death is not needlessly prolonged, you care little of how a tyrant, or oppressor of any coat is dispatched.

After the infuriatingly long and rich feast comes to an end, you help the servants assigned to your office of first herald pack the few belongings you own as Kynigos, repeating the almost comedic shows of hypocrisy shown to you by your host and "master", if only to keep the ember of disdain you feel for the man and his similarly hedonistic ilk amongst the house of Loc'ria and their lessers in the high society of Loc'ea and their peers across Nuceria burning and alive. They are certainly not amongst the worst tyrants you have had the displeasure and ill fortune to encounter, but they have committed enough wrong doings and lived wicked enough lives that they can only repay the damages and harm they have done with their lives. Irritatingly, the jolly, red faced drunk Lycuarch has followed you from the dining room, rambling about his "ungrateful" family as he stumbles after your shadow, interweaving his complaints born of pique with warnings concerning the dangers you'll face while enjoying the hospitality of house Thal'kr, before meandering into a surprisingly poetic and verbose description of the hanging orchards and public pools of Desh'ea , public meaning in this instance open to the nobility alone. It is quite the trial remaining cordial and polite with the man, as he simply refuses to leave you in peace and talks about the most inane subjects, that would've driven even the most conceited and self centered of the Yan nobility to bored tears. Such a vapid conversation quickly wears on your patience and tolerance for outspoken idiocy and blind egotism.

It is amazing how much a man who spends all his time in the luxury and comfort of his palace can find to talk about himself whilst giving meaningless and useless advice that would be more likely to cause a misunderstanding or incident than it would be to avoid it. Thankfully, he leaves you alone when you respectfully refuse the escort he offers, excusing your denial of his generosity as preferring bodyguards you have personally trained. And he only leaves because in his drunken stupor, such an explanation shatters his fragile ego and makes him so sorrowful, that one might be led to think that a beloved friend of his had died sometime early in the evening, rather than an old man politely and with all proper etiquette and courtly manners, simply declining an offer he had made while delirious with drink.

You roll your eyes and sigh as you watch the lord of the city state of Loc'ea shuffle away, all but sobbing from your rejection of his protection as you return to your packing.

The trip to Desh'ea is uneventful, besides the nightly training you preform with the freed gladiators you have brought to travel at your side, both to prevent them from being sent to the arena without your oversight and thus without proper medical attention and care, and to not arouse suspicion of a Lanista traveling to expand his roster of gladiators without at least some of his current stable accompanying him to measure the quality and worth of the new recruits. Since you wear the colors of house Loc'ria and wear their emblem of three black wolves biting each other's tails in a circle, you are not harassed by the guards outside of the great gates of the great power of Desh'ea, which dwarves even the mighty walls of Loc'ea. To compare the two would be like measuring an anthill against a mountain.

Indeed, the walls are larger than any upon Shangrala, and you quickly measure their exact height, width, thickness and the density and weight of the stones used to build them, accurately calculating the durability of each section of the wall and the exact amount of force necessary to break through it, which allows you to surmise how long it would take for various kinds of weaponry to break through, from massed rifle fire, using solid bullet, lasers, dark light or plasma, focused artillery bombardment, Aerial bombings, tank fire, the march of the steel giants, and the arcane weaponry equipped aboard Kanzeon and her sisters. These walls would not withstand the might of Shangrala, no matter what form it would take. But the walls themselves do no present a danger, it is the army behind and manning them. You have witnessed the devastation and all to well know the cost of lives exacted by two armies wielding archeotech weapons meeting in the field of battle. The wall would fall, but there would be a price to be paid to make it crumble. And it would be paid in death.

You performed these calculations of the city's mundane defense, as you were questioned by the captain of the guard of Desh'ea, who, once you showed the written edict given to you by Lycuarch, and had spent close to half an hour discussing the minute details of running a gladiator school and caring for your fighters, and surprising him with the effort and expense you paid to ensure the health of your fighters, you were allowed into Desh'ea, with an unwanted escort of a dozen of its guards. Assigned to ensure you only do the business you have stated and do not go anywhere you shouldn't. They fear you're a spy, searching for weaknesses in the great city's defenses or secrets that can be used for the benefit of your "masters" of the house of Loc'ria.

How troublesome. You're already aware of where your brother is likely to be held, you saw the walls of the largest arena even before you saw the walls of this planet's capital city. It rises, as if it were challenging the heavens themselves, or standing tall enough for even the gods to witness the battles that took place within its walls. The difficulty would be of course, making contact with your brother, while being watched by the eyes of house Thal'kr for the slightest breech of protocol or show suspicious activity.

The message will be only for him

Our message should include a brief introduction, the numbers and power of the tyrants, what are the forces we have gathered and their potential, the layout of different settlements/fortifications/defenses, and a brief text that specifies "Kynigos" is here for aid him and Nuceria. And also for reveal something crucial about "Kynigos".

So Lieren will contact the members of the beggar guild, and have them sneak into the arena to deliver a message to his brothers, before meeting with the Lanistas of the city and purchasing a few of their fighters and convincing them to organize fights so he may place his most skilled gladiators in the arena to deliver a second message to his caged brother.

And meeting with the agents who have already covertly alerted you to your presence the moment you stepped beneath the great shadow of the towering walls, at least directly and openly, would be seen as suspicious in a bizarre sense, for what rich man and servant of the high riders would kneel and lower himself to speak with the lower classes and poor? However, if such a minor obstacle as being unable to hold a conversation or direct dialogue could prevent you from passing messages or orders along, you would not have so quickly brought the Yan tyrants to their deserved graves. You had, of course, anticipated the need to be able to pass along unheard orders and hidden commands to the members of your beggar sect, and part of their training that immediately follows their induction includes lessons to be able to translate messages and missives hidden within subtle shifts of motion and gestures that would be overlooked and mistaken as mere mannerisms rather than the complex, unspoken language they are. While this alone could not form a complete command, nor give them the whole of the message you intend for them to deliver to your imprisoned brother, if it is combined with the usage particular emphasis on certain words or syllables and graduals shifts of the pattern of speech used in the conversation you share with merchants and your unwanted watchdogs, the incomplete order and message to be delivered would become much more complete and complex and would draw the attention of the most trained of the beggars who have managed to reach Desh'ea. A feat which has caught you by surprise, you had not expected them to be able to move and spread with such whirlwind rapidity to reach and establish their operations and sink the roots of their unseen influence into the fertile soils of the capital of this world's slums and ghettos. An accomplishment you make sure to praise the local leaders for, as they pass by you as you pause to admire the jewelry hawked by a vender, while turning a dry apple like fruit you had been nibbling away out to write messages in its taught skin and juicy flesh. The head of the local branch of the beggar sect, a reed thin, saggy faced elder with a mangy, hanging grey beard, pauses and whispers a refrain of benevolence in azure and plum, translated to the Nucerian tongue.

The particular verse, when used with the cant and slang you had appropriated to serve as a private dialect and code amongst the urchin and beggar martial artists and thieves you had trained, is used to ask for further explanation. You oblige him, as you disguise your conversation by beginning a rambling conversation with the guards already exhausted with the winding and ponderous tales they, by means of your higher and honored station, are forced to listen to with true attentiveness and at least a measure of false interest, while the local head kneels down to scrub filth from his sandals and pick at his beard.

He nods, listening intently as you at last finish relaying the orders, by tracing a line of Long-Jian characters into the sand as you pass him by, knowing only he will understand what you have written. It is the message you have prepared for him to deliver to your brother, though you only refer to him as the "Lord of the red sands", which is what finally ties together the hidden and subtle messages you have given the head and his underlings, and reveals to them the whole of your command. He nods once more, and makes a show of begging and pleading to you, which you reply with a scornful slap and wordless growl, at least to the eyes of the onlookers. In actually, with all the tenderness of a grandfather, you caress his cheek and wish him luck in fulfilling the duty you have given him the privilege of holding.

"I must meet with the premiere Lanistas of the City, if you could be so kind as to send a messenger ahead, so they can gather together the wheat from the chaff of their stables" You bark haughtily, snapping your fingers as you ready to carry out the second half of your plan to establish contact with your brother, and begin your efforts to assist him in lifting the collar from his neck, and snapping the chains that bind him wrist and ankle
_
Angron sat, contemplative, in the gloom of his private cell. A rare moment of peace, brought about by his latest attempt to escape from the confines of the walls of the arena, that had been his home since he had been found upon those lonely mountains. Solitary confinement, was his punishment now. Far enough his cries and shouts could not reach the ears of his friends and comrades in arms, but close enough so he could hear the pained cries of those who had accompanied them, a cruel punishment, to force him to hear and feel the agony of those he held not only with respect, but with familial love as brothers and sisters of the sands. His mind wandered, as he accepted the tortures of his kinsmen of choice into himself, once more contemplating and pondering the strange dreams he had of golden and silver eyes, of raging fires and chilled waters, of fog and of queer, lions with silver and mist in their coats. He thought of The warrior, towering and dressed in raiment unknown to him or any other he had described them to, whose eyes were filled with golden fire and sorrowful rage, whose iron wrought hair flowed and whistle like blades cutting through the air, as he marched through the burning field of graves, sometimes at Angron's side, and sometimes against him at the head of a vast army of phantoms. He thought of the maid by the river, with innocent joy in her silver eyes, as she waded and danced through rivers touched by frost, who at times joined in her revelry and at times found his hands coated in her blood as her eyes once filled with joy and bliss emptied of life as the cold waters were dyed red.

These dreams had become increasingly vivid of late, and he had reexperienced the fantasy of the two, the warrior and maiden alike, appearing from the dark of his prison, and snapping his chains to lead him from beneath the earth to bask in warmth of sun as a free man, a dream that always brought him to bitter, weeping tears when he was pulled from it. And recently, he began to dream of a radiant king and a red skinned wizard, who spoke to him and offered him comfort and shared their wisdom with him, though he could never remember the advice they had given when he awoke, at least not completely and what little he retained from his dreams, had proven valuable indeed and had even saved the lives of a handful of his fellow gladiators and allowed him to nearly evade his captors, before he was dragged back in chains to his prison.

Again, the lord of the red sands began to wonder, if these actors in his dreams were ghosts of the past or visions of the future. He began to wonder as he had sometimes before, if that was why he was so treasured beyond his martial prowess, because he was thought to be the last of a titanic race of valiant warriors of free minds and willful stubbornness? His mood began to grow dark, as this train of thought lead to depressive and mournful thoughts, but before he could begin to wallow in the mire of his imagination. He heard a noise, the sound of iron striking iron.

He sat upright, and saw an old man, hidden by a cloak wrapped tightly around himself, striking a rod to the bars of his cell. Immediately, his contemplations and musings were dashed like skull upon rocks, and he forgot what he was thinking from sheer baffled confusion. But before he could growl a demand to know what this stranger was doing here, and if he had been sent by the high riders to torment him, the man pulled off the wrappings around his face and flashed a coy smile.

"This humble beggar greets the lord of the red sands, and brings with him a message, if the unbeaten would be willing to listen to it" He said, kneeling before him as if he were not a slave, but rather a master

"Who sent you?" Angron growled, lowering his voice as he pushed aside question such as "How did this man get down here" and "what the hell is going on" "Obviously not the Thal'kr, but who would have cause to send a slave a letter?"

"A friend" The man mysteriously answered "And my honored teacher, I dare not speak his name, while beneath the shadow of the riders, but, he seeks you out, and has commanded me to tell you..."

"Tell me what" Angron asked sharply , though not out of anger, but rather curiosity and hope

"A strange message, but my grandfather is a strange man, perhaps your ears can discern a meaning from where I find none" The beggar whispered, pressing himself against the bars and beckoning Angron to move closer to them. He obliged, and turned his head for the man to whisper into his ear....

What are the two messages you've sent to your brother, Lieren?

>As you cry out in pain, the blood in your veins resonates and carries your plea, and the blood within my veins hears its call | It answers back, shouting through the the storm of blades and intrigue "You are not alone, my brother"

>Golden eyes weep as they see you suffer, watching yet unable to intervene | Now, Golden eyes, offers you aid and friendship. He is near, but remains hidden.

>Once, there was a giant, who lived lonely amongst men, wondering if beneath all the stars in the sky, he was the only giant to walk | This once lonely giant, found his kin, upon these reddened sands and waits to join his brother in battle

>A hunter wanders, from fog swept valleys, onto the sun scorched sands thirsting for tyrants blood | The high riders shall soon taste the hunter's spear and feel his wrath, but not until the unbeaten is freed from his chains

"Hunter" should more than make it clear who this message is from when the night's festivities start, as well as give him the hope necessary to endure for a short while longer.

So Lieren's message to Angron will not only be in two parts, but be two messages halved

the first half of the first being "A hunter of gold wanders, from fog swept valleys, onto the sun scorched sands thirsting for tyrants blood"

And the first half of the second being "Once, there was a giant, who lived lonely amongst men, wondering if beneath all the stars in the sky, he was the only giant to walk"

Writing now. Sorry to keep you waiting, but I was feeling really ill after drinking enough to make Russ turn pale like the snows of Fenris

"For, the messages seem, to my dustworn ears, incomplete. Like parts of two different stories or songs taken from their whole and spoken together" The cloth wrapped elder spoke with an almost idle curiosity, as if he did not fear the unpleasant and painful fate and punishment that would await him should he be found here by the tech thralls of the high riders or their truly loyal servants, speaking a hidden, mysterious message to their prized slave whilst he was meant to be suffering in silence in the dark of his cell, alone and ignored. Angron narrowed his eyes, a queer, low form of suspicious rising from within his gut, he felt that this man posed no threat to himself, though he could feel despite his small stature and lanky frame withered and weighed by his age and a lifetime of toil, that he stood taller as a warrior than even some of his own valued comrades imprisoned within the tournament grounds. So, curious to see how such a fossil could possibly exude such an aura of danger despite bearing a crooked back and rail thin limbs, and why his mysterious master, a man who must be older than the very stones beneath his own feet if even an ancient, sun worn creature such as the beggar who stood before him was his grandchild. Angron furrowed his brow, trying to imagine the features of a being so ancient and so old, how wrinkled and liver spotted they'd be, how shriveled they would become. In the end, in his mind's eye, he beheld a ruddy skinned, monkey like creature with a leather tough hide and twinkling black hide.

"Perhaps" His oddly dressed guest eventually ventured after Angron had spoken no answer or reply to him "My grandfather has already devised and orchestrated the delivery of the other half of these two messages he has given to me, and a messenger bearing them shall appear as I have, and fade once more into the sands lifted by the winds. I cannot say, for even his closest students do not know the contents of that crafty man's cunning mind..."

"Speak them, and speak them quickly, for both of our sake" Angron said, in a low tone, kneeling closer to the old beggar as he clicked his tongue and adopted an utterly foreign and strange accent, unheard of to Angron's ears. It sound aristocratic, noble, but unlike the words spoken by the haughty voices of the High riders, it flowed like the wind, gently and gracefully rather than the whip like enunciation of his cruel masters "And then begone from here, to return to your elder, before you are lost to him"

"Death is but another journey" The beggar said blithely, as Angron eyed the passage he had presumably stepped from, wary of the sudden appearance of any guard on patrol, the statement being so shocking to the gladiator he looked back to the beggar immediately, nearly hitting the bars of his cell with his cheek as he felt a truly rare sensation swell within him, that of surprise

"But, I shall do as you command, Lord of the red sands. Perhaps these words will hold deeper meaning to you than they have for me, I have been told different minds are illuminated by different sights"

Angron held his tongue, wanting nothing more than to bark at the old man angrily, calling him a wind bag and other insults, partially out of irritation that he was taking so long to deliver the message that he had endangered his own life to speak to him, but he held his tongue, for his curiosity was far stronger than his anger. Besides, this strange old man, in his strange dark clothes, clearly did not fear death in even the slightest, he was like a hardened warrior, though he bore no scars besides a broken and reset nose. As if remembering his purpose for sneaking beneath the highest and grandest tournament grounds on Nuceria, beneath the noses of its most powerful family, the beggar nearly pressed his lips to Angron's ear, the sensation of warm breath washing over them as he whispered...Poetry? But not of the sort his masters had forced him to endure, for one it was actually pleasant and thought provoking rather than self indulgent and meaningless, and it was also structured differently. Angron knew there were terms to describe how it was different, but he was not educated in such matters. He only was aware enough to realize it was a different form of poetry, unlike any he had been forced to tolerate in the celebrations and private meetings with the family whose heel he had been born beneath.

"A hunter of gold wanders, from fog swept valleys, onto the sun scorched sands thirsting for tyrants blood" The beggar whispered, before pausing and allowing a heavy silence to fall within Angron's "private chambers". A silence that allowed him to ponder the intent and meaning of his words. Clearly the ancient man who wished him to hear his words, was an ally, for he to wished to see the throats of the high riders torn as their blood gurgle and spurted onto the hot sands of the arena floor. He did not know why he did not simply say as such, but, putting it in such a flowery manner did at least show he was not simply an ambitious rival seeking to turn the Thal'kr's own dog against them. If he was a noble, he was of a different breed entirely. And fog swept valleys? Angron, in his search for giants and golden eyes, had heard of no such place upon Nuceria as he studied histories, folklore and old wives tales in vain to find even a trace of the figures that haunted his dreams. Perhaps that was some kind of a metaphor? A hint to his faceless ally's origins or homeland? Perhaps there once, in a time long distant from the present, were valleys shrouded by fog, but they had been trampled and ground into naught by flat plains and arid air?
Cont
>>
>>5360029

Angron knew that there was a shift in the climate that caused the migration of the people who became the highriders, that was remembered in mythology as a cataclysm spurned on by the wrath of distant, nameless gods. Angron realized thinking about valleys and fogs would lead him no closer to finding the identity of this mysterious figure who saw fit to reach out to him as ally and friend, so instead he turned his mind to the first part of the message.

The unseen teacher of the beggar called himself a Hunter of Gold, assuming he is referring to himself in the message. Hunter of gold? A Mercenary? Or is it a reference to his prey being the gilded lords of the high houses? Again, it was a poetic turn of phrase, an odd title that one would more likely find in a fairytale. Whoever this Hunter of gold was, he must be one gutsy and audacious man, to so freely identify himself as an enemy of the nobility and the rich? Perhaps he had lived only so long because none of the high riders had the sense or ability to contemplate the meaning of the epithet.

Angron furrowed his brow, as he noticed the beggar was grinning coyly at him, like he was in on some joke or prank being played on him and he was struggling to keep himself from laughing.

"What's so funny?" Angron asked brusquely

"You're contemplating the words I spoke so deeply, you nearly began to meditate" He said, further confusing angron, as he had absolutely no idea what he meant and it must've been clear on his face that he didn't, cause the man giggled barely louder than a whisper "it is good, that you think on the deeper meaning of the message, and ponder it at length. Now, for the second message I was told to deliver by my nine times honored teacher"

"You really are fearless" Angron sighed, sitting back down as the man tapped his chin, and changed his tone and posture, seeming like he was now telling a story rather than repeating a line of a poem.

"Once, there was a giant, who lived lonely amongst men, wondering if beneath all the stars in the sky, he was the only giant to walk" He whispered, pulling up the shawl wrapped around his neck and face, tightening it to hide his features beneath its densely woven cloth "And no, I have plenty of fears, I simply accept death as a natural end to life. But I do not seek it out, and if I linger"

"You'll be butchered" Angron said, not so subtly motioning for the old man to leave him, and in return he was given a strangely familiar smile, as if the two had met before the beggar had come out of the shadows like a ghost

"If we were not under the shadow of the high riders, I'd tell you the tall tale that reminded me of, perhaps, my grandfather will be able to share it with you personally, but alas, I must away" The man said, turning his back to Angron and slithering away into the gloom, vanishing as if he were never there to begin with,

Indeed, Angron was only able to follow the path he took out of his cell through his superhuman senses and intuition. He smirked as he lifted himself from the ground, dusting his legs with the back of his hand

That was an escape route he had yet to try. Was showing him it also intentional? He sat down to ponder this, wincing as he felt the torture of his kin of the arena return to his mind, feeling like a burning brand of iron being pressed and jostled against his brow
_

"Kynigos the ancient, though you are...young as a Lanista, the renown spread by your name has even reached us here in the jewel of Nuceria and the crown of the Desh'elika Mountains" One of the Lanistas, the leader of the group you had requested to meet you, through possessing greater wealth, and influence than the rest, rather than his seniority, wisdom or virtues. You nod, wearing a smiling mask of pride and accomplishment as you stirred a finger in the darkly bitter, and drugged tea you had been offered. Clearly they had intend to swindle you out of your best fighters while you were intoxicated and under the influence of the swamp herp they had mixed into the beverage, hidden by more potent and flavorful spices, barks and roots that would find a home in Long-Jian cuisine, traditional or experimental. It wouldn't kill a man even as frail and old as Kynigos, and it'd do nothing to you.

So to establish you were not someone to be trifled with, and set the Lanistas you met with at unease to weaken their defenses and create an opening for your manipulations, you downed the beverage with out breath and let out a drawn out sigh, and nearly caused one of the skinnier men to faint from the vapors that rose from your hot, heady breath.

"I am humbled by your praise, for it is spoken both by my junior in years and my superior in this business of blood and guts" You sneer as the head Lanista visibly pales, motioning for his slave to not pour you a second glass, warily watching you as if he expects you collapse and faint at any moment, his eyes widening with ever moment that passes when you do not "I am honored to know that the names of Kynigos and those of boys and girls he has lovingly raised to carry steel upon the reddened sands as gladiators of the great sport of Nuceria, enjoyed by all, has spread even to the greatest city yet built upon it"

"Y..yes, it is truly a great honor, for you to be recognized by men of our standing, that we would denign to meet with you and speak business and slaves" The alpha Lanista said shakily as you, against their customs and sense of etiqutte, forcefully took the pitcher of wine and poured yourself another glass, emptying it as quickly as the first and narrowing your eyes in amusement as your hosts winced and pulled at their collars, worrying they were watching the death of a rival house's favored servant as you set your glass down

and burped in the face of the bald but bearded Lanista trying to sneakily move to your side to check your health and catch you when the potent elixir you drank would inevitably have its effect on your aged body. He fell to the ground, stiff as a board

"Haah, the constitution of young men has failed since the days of my youth" You sighed forlornly as the leader of your gracious and scheming hosts stammered, looking at his fellow in disbelief as the others looked at you with expression that said, "do you mean the dawn of time, old timer?". You chuckled, and tapped your fingers on the rim of the silver goblet you had drained, purely to establish dominance and superiority of these prideful young men and slave owners.

"Now shall we talk buisness, it does little good for us to exchange compliments and praises between one another" You say with a wink "Especially when some of us are staying up past their bedtime, clearly"

The head Lanista looked at you, his eyes barely concealing how insulted he felt by your demeanor, and the rest of his face showed how intimidate he now was of "Old, helpless Kynigos"

"Straight to the point, I admire such diligence and solemnity to our work as tradesmen and trainers" he said, after regaining his composure "I heard from my men in the guard force that you wish to purchase new talent"

"Yes, purchase, not trade for" You say with a sinister, feline grin "But I cannot suggest a price without seeing the quality of the fighters you keep stabled, to be butchered by...what was he called again? The red king? The undefeated? The peerless"

"Angron Thal'Kyr?" One of the others gasped, as the rest silently seethed by the sheer disrespect and disregard you showed to them the "Kind masters of the best fighters and war dogs of all Nuceria". And it was very much intentional, on your part. It has been too long since you could subtly insult and offend men like them, who had been rendered all but extinct on Shangrala's fair face by your lifelong effort to rid that world of the disease of tyranny.

"Yes I suppose that was his name" You say, imitating the mannerisms and tone of a doddering old man "I do not wish to buy mere fodder and chaff, whose sole purpose is to be mauled by...such a miraculous specimen, I hear he is a giant of a man!"

"We assure you, all of our stock is of the highest quality" The head Lanista says with a strained expression and a vein or two popping on his forehead

"Yet you send them to be slaughtered by a giant, daily" You muse outloud, plucking your illusionary beard, before pressing your knuckles to your chin and grinding your teeth "before I set the price for your gladiators, we'll have a series of..."

You pause and fake a look of sudden realization, as if you had suddenly arrived to an exhilarating thought and novel idea

"I know! We'll put your word that the fighting men of Desh'ea are superior to the test, and see how they measure to the gladiators I've brought with me, all personally trained by myself of course" You say, luring them into a trap you had set by giving them the burning desire to see you humiliated and knocked from the pedestal you had sat yourself upon above them, and prove their own greater worth and skill as Lanistas against you, the foreigner whose made a mockery of their careers and talents without directly insulting them in a manner that would give them just cause for open and violent or covert retaliation against your sharp, biting tongue.

Laughing gregariously, and boisterously pouring yourself more wine to spill across their silk covered table as you lift it and dramatically whip the glass around through the air to emphasize the words of your audaciously bold proposal as you speak it.

"I'm certain men of your standing can arrange for fights and matches to be organized, with a different roster than was planned for the nights entertainment to quell the angry hearts of the mob of Desh'ea" You state merrily as they watch you like starving jackals, thinking they have found a way to seize you by the throat, that they are all to ready to pounce upon "I do not care for the specifics, but, I shall lend the city my foremost talents as surprise entertainment, so we can put to the test whether the gladiators of Loc'ea or Desh'ea are superior through public combat, for all to see the outcome we find, rather than private and secretive spars"

And so, you found a means for the second half of your two messages to be delivered to your brother
_

"You'll be on your best behavior" one of the cruelest of the Thal'kr's taskmasters commanded Angron, as he secured the straps of the armor he had been given to wear, more ceremonial than his usual affair, as his beloved war dog gnawed on a meatless bone at his side "You will hold yourself with the dignity and poise of a slave of Thal'kr, and you will fight like a mountain devil, like a man possessed. You will not hesitate, as you have gotten into the bad habit of delaying your killing blows, to the dissatisfaction of your owner and wider populace. You will cleave through your opponents like a scythe through wheat"

"I thought I was supposed to languish in lonely darkness for a month after my latest...show of resistance" Angron spoke softly, hiding his spite, but only barely, through obviously faked politeness. However a genuine smile did crack his lips as he spotted his mentor Oenomaus amongst the fighters performing their drills in the yard below, under the shadow of the hanging gardens he himself sat within
Cont

"I can only wonder what the circumstances are behind the shortening of my punishment" He said with a grimace as he tightened his arm to the point it'd fit snugly to him, clinging to his shoulders, torso and upper legs, leaving his arms entirely bare and unprotected, revealing the scars he had earned upon them from the worthy foes he had cut down "Is there to be a celebration of sorts"

"I do not know, all I know is that you are demanded in the arena, whether by the mob or our masters, I do not know. And that gladiators from Loc'ea are to be present in the pit tonight, alongside the usual local combatants" The taskmask spat as he walked away "I suppose, some proud Lanista from beyond our great city's walls, is being taught a lesson in humility. Those gladiators have already arrived, if you wish to measure their worth with your own eyes"

Angron paused, having began to sharpen his sword, as the strange meeting he had this morning, with the old beggar who spoke of hunters and giants, return to the forefront of his thoughts. So, he chose to observe these strangers, as they practiced in a yard loaned to them to these visitors. And no sooner than he did, he was brazenly approached by the largest of them, a broad shoulder, bronze with densly corded muscles and a heavy, carefully braided beard. Normally, this man would've been cut down immediately for such impudence, but the guards were surprisingly lax...and unfamiliar to Angron, something about their manner was odd, they lacked the bearing and holding of the other guards he, and seemed almost purposefully lazy and idle...and their armor was wholely ill fitting. Angron's instincts curdled, as he worked to piece together the puzzle he had found himself in, realizing that the forces working to court his favor had a far longer reach than he could have ever anticipated.

Angron squinted his eyes, and took in a sharp breath as he noticed the scar upon the man's stomach. A deep wound to the gut. Only the high riders have the knowledge to treat such an injury. Yet this slave showed no obvious signs of bearing cybernetic implants or augmentation. The gladiator marching to him, glanced around, and dropped the act of posturing and strutting to him to try and cow the giant whose shadow swallowed him whole.

"I trust the first half of my master's messages have reached you, it took a lot of effort to make it so we can speak without being overheard. We shall meet as en...no opponents, tonight, but we are not your foes nor your enemies" The man said, as Angron wondered why he chose to specify between the three words that meant practically the same thing "My savior has told me to speak these words to you, whenever I find the chance, thankfully, it is before we must meet upon the theater of battle"
Cont
>>
>>5360034

"Speak your piece, before your replacement of the guards is realized and the imposters are found" Angron said bluntly, though he heard his own voice lift with a rare cheerfulness, as he began to, perhaps unwisely, hope that tonight would be the last night he'd be called slave or dog

"The high riders shall soon taste the hunter's spear and feel his wrath, but not until the unbeaten is freed from his chains" The bearded gladiator stated confidently, lifting both his head and chest. Angron felt his lips lift into a smirk, despite his efforts to present an emotionless face to this stranger. So, there were two messages being delivered after all, and the first was "A hunter of gold wanders, from fog swept valleys, onto the sun scorched sands thirsting for tyrants blood. The high riders shall soon taste the hunter's spear and feel his wrath, but not until the unbeaten is freed from his chains"

So, clearly this Hunter of gold, the ancient grandfather of the old man and master of this gladiator, is a rebellious soul like himself and seeks to make an alliance with him to cast down the tyrannical high riders from their palaces, but does not believe himself and his strangely skilled underlings from being capable of doing it alone, without the strength and will of Angron Thal'kyr.

"I see, the first message is clear to me now. If your master is listening, or if you live to return my reply, tell him I am willing if he is able to prove his trustworthiness and worth as an ally" Angron answered quietly, a strange chill and clarity rushing through him like flood waters, anticipation mixed with something like dread...some broken part of himself cried out that to hope was to be disappointed, but the fire in blood could not be so easily quieted, and his mind raced and filled with fantastical delusions of freedom from and triumph against his bloodthirsty and cruel masters

"I hope I shall see the old man's face again, I trust you won't be merciless in the ring" The man said with a strange, familiar smile like the old beggar before "But the second, I feel may prove him worthy of naming your ally, if it means what I think it may"

"Speak" Angron demanded, eyes wild and hands trembling with anticipation

"This once lonely giant, found his kin, upon these reddened sands and waits to join his brother in battle" The gladiator spoke with a beaming, almost blinding grin.

it felt as though he had been struck by lightning. The giant the beggar referred to was not him...or maybe it was, and it both referred to him and this other giant who now sought him out. His mouth dried and his eyes became teary as his head clouded and seemed to fill with vapor and steam as a triumphant, amazed voice repeated the whole message in the back of his mind.

"Once, there was a giant, who lived lonely amongst men, wondering if beneath all the stars in the sky, he was the only giant to walk. This once lonely giant, found his kin, upon these reddened sands and waits to join his brother in battle"

Angron felt the color drain from his face, and his breath halt in his throat. His heart seized and he nearly bit his tongue. He composed himself, taking in a sharp breath of air, that came out unsteady as he turned away from the smiling man, and hurriedly walked away from him, and the other agents of the man who was no longer faceless in his mind. The image of an aged, golden eyed warrior, marked with battle, appeared before him, illusionary like morning mist, smiling proudly and reaching out to him, dressed in the odd armor. The armor of his people. He wasn't alone, a freak specimen. He had family, blood family, living kinsmen. A never before seen, joyful and celebrant grin plastered itself on the lord of the red sands features, as he imagined what was to come by the setting of the sun, and a dire anticipation filled him as he felt the warm blood of his masters soaking into his face and sprinkling his tongue.

His wildest dreams, he felt, were soon to be realized. And he had to ready himself, and pass the message along to his own, trusted comrades. Another chance of freedom was soon to present itself.
_

"Hmm" You say, sitting in the seat of honor besides the Lanistas you swindled into bringing your plans to fruition "The shade is most pleasant at this hour, when the air cools yet is still warm and the beating, unrelenting light of the sun dims and ceases its assault upon these weary eyes of mine. I thank you, honored host for allowing me such comforts, why I think I can almost see the house of Thal'kr from this seat"

"What...was that drink you gave me" The Lanista by you whimpers, have tasted the venom of the dragon's spit, as you always kept a bottle on handy to serve as a disinfectant if the need arose "It..still burns within me, I feel it melting through my stomach"

"I did warn you, did I not, to mix it with fruit juice and water" You sneer as you kick your legs up on the railing before you "Your suffering is no fault but your own. Now, how much longer must we wait for the fighting to begin"

And for you to have your chance to see your brother with your own eyes, directly, and set in motion one of the thousands of plans you have concocted to see him released from his bondage.

"It will begin soon, after the heads of the Thal'kr speak to the crowd and deliver their good will to the people" the bald headed Lanista whispered. He is amongst the wiser of your hosts' number, as he did not take you up on your offer of strange, clear alcohol when you brought the bottle out from you satchel "And then the games will begin, as tradition dictates"

"Fantastic, I hope the winds cool further. I do enjoy a misty breeze" You sigh, leaning back to lounge further in the sofa you had been gifted to rest upon.

What is your plan to see your brother, Angron, freed from his chains, Lieren?

>Have your beggar sect create a distraction , using the skills you taught them to cause a riot/ stampede in the stands and execute a few, particularly repugnant individuals you have marked for death.

>Having taught your agents how to make remarkable potent explosives, considering the materials used in their construction, set off some "Fireworks" To give your brother the chance he needs to release himself from his servitude

>Watch the tournament apathetically, and then, when your brother enters the ring, declare you wish to fight the man yourself, and leap down into the Arena. An act that will surely draw the ire of house Thal'kr, especially when you, an "Old man" prove a challenge to him.

> Sigh heavily and crush the head of the nearest, Lanista against the railing and groan "I grow tired of this charade" and be the distraction yourself, and make for the seats of house Thal'kr to begin the hangings of the high riders.

An add on that I feel is a must regardless of choice. Have the beggers draw the anti warp sigils all over the arena. We do t want this bloodshed to pair with our mark and accidentally summon some damned Khorne stuff. No chances here

The beggars outside directing the freed slaves is the critical deciding difference between this attempt at freedom and all the others.
Pre-prepared routes and escape vectors.

While a riot helps and should ensure many gladiators escape, it will no doubt be repressed with a great show of violence. The rioters once they have done their part should be convinced to disperse away. Hushed suggestions among their ranks, made by members of the beggar sect should do the trick
Once Angron and his men are safe, we can talk in a private place without psyker concealments, showing that we are indeed his family and that hunter he dreamed of.

I'll try to get some visibility to this one too. Whether is a stampede or explosion, screwing Khorne out of empowerment is key.
Also grafitti is a roman tradition, so no one will notice.

We need to rescue his men or else we're going to be doing the emperor's mistake.

Freeing him and forcing the festivities continue so we can buy gladiators for cheaper, their status trampled and their stables drained will turn then into a laughingstock and allow us to further subvert their hold on the people.

Also, I had this mental image of Lieren undercover in some tyrant's court, being confronted by said tyrant and telling him "strike me down, and I will become more powerfull than you could possibly imagine" before he tries to kill him only for Lieren to cast his disguise and kill every enemy in the room with "Kind, Golden Eyes" the heavy metal version playing in the background .

He did that the first time. The goal is to do so without getting him involved in a man hunt by this currently powerful house... Who was going to murder him and his bois.

Hence the "I'mma buy some gladiators" scam we got going on here.
>>
heres hoping for a Gladiator inspired break with a happier ending. The transport ship that we have used for arrive here likely transmitted back informations and a position during travel and possibly arrival with probably Lieren switch off the ship for minimize detection.
Before that though i imagine Eldrad did give the correct coordinate to travel to the world by webway and Lieren didn't forgot to say that to his group or ask the position in real space too. After all the main reason he did this talk was to know where his brother was, because he would need more time finding it otherwise. Not having all the info he has come for and that he can just ask by talking, would be very not-Lieren.
Some of this is done in the background, is not for most of the time written, until is already done in story.
>>
If we're able to successfully hide Angron, I hope we can take the time to exchange martial lessons between brothers, and possibly help him achieve enlightenment to expand his empathic powers. Considering he's able to use it to ease the pain in his allies, it would be really strong if he could passively use it, more so if his empathy can develop into basic mind reading.
>>
you know if Angron is indeed a Psyker which he seemed to be before the Nails, the powers he shows. The Joureny will be massively useful to him given the pains and burdens he can take on. Equally and somewhat amusingly if he takes on some of Lierens rage or sadness some time

Oh dear god. If we some how take Leiren, Angron, Lorgar, Magnus and Perturabo on a DND trip.

Leiren as a Thief/Monk (With bad ass cape and use any item)
Angron as the Paladin
Logar as the Druid or Cleric

THat might be an interesting sidestory.

Maybe:
Russ: Warrior.
Jagathai: Ranger
Horus: Bard. No shit.
Ferrus Manus: Artificer of course
Guilliman: Paladin?
Peturabo: Some sort of Warforged for irony.
Dorn: Warforged. Because Perturabo still can't be special
Konrad: Hexblade Warlock because edgy mc edgy face has to be chaotic edgy.
Fulgrim: Swashbuckler? IDK

GM is Malcador because of who he is.
Emps is uninformed of the game.

Calling the vote now. Sorry for the super long wait

Have your beggar sect create a distraction , using the skills you taught them to cause a riot/ stampede in the stands and execute a few, particularly repugnant individuals you have marked for death:9

Have the beggers draw the anti warp sigils all over the arena:3

Having taught your agents how to make remarkable potent explosives, considering the materials used in their construction, set off some "Fireworks" To give your brother the chance he needs to release himself from his servitude:15

Station members of the beggar sect around the city, to help your brother run through the most hidden paths, and ensure he makes it into the wilderness. And to give him a location you found in your travel to be a meeting point, so you will be reunited.:16
-And the gladiators (as if Angron would ever leave them): 2

Total votes: 23

So Lieren will have stationed members of his beggar sect throughout the city, to help guide Angron and whoever joins him in his flight through the most efficient and secretive route to the wilderness, specifically a part of it where you shall be waiting, so you two brothers may at last be reunited.

and while these beggars wait at those key locations along the road to freedom, the more veteran and skilled among them, will create a "Fireworks" show by setting off several explosive payloads, giving Angron his chance to snap his collar and break from his master's cruel clutches.

The sun was setting, coloring the unshrouded skies of Nuceria various shades of red, like blood both fresh and dried, you felt the heat washing across your face, carried by the still winds, accompanied by the aroma of unsheathed, oiled steel and bronze and blood both fresh and old, lifted up from the sands of the arena. Sweat, heated stone, fear rising from panted breathes, sour and bitter wind spilt to cook on the ground below, intoxicating overripe fruit and herb roasted meat, boiling bubbling fat, and the electrical scent of excitement and the iron specter of blood thirst all mingled together into a sickening and anger inducing perfume, that which the people, particularly the nobility of this city, this world dressed themselves with. The air was befouled, thick and heady with the summer heat, and you wished for nothing more than a cleansing rain and soothing fog to roll in and drown it all out, washing it away like grime and dirt from the collective hands and minds of the people.

"It shouldn't take much longer, should it?" You grumbled, adjusting you position on the couch to sit up right, fingers tented together as you leaned closer to watch the combat beneath the high stands upon which you were seated, watching men and women, barely dressed and augmented with invasive, crude and unnecessary cybernetics fighting as viciously as starved jackals or injured panthers. Your eyes narrowed with disdain, as you saw all too clearly the resemblance of the slave gladiators to the soldiers created and fielded by the butcher king, and wondered if, before his rise to power, that similar games were held by the kings he had overthrown and slaughtered. How similar was the path walked by that freed slave who remade himself as a giant of black iron and murderous intent, accented by careless bloodthirst, to that your brother Angron has followed before you had arrived to his homeland? You were thankful that Kong Nue chose to mock you, for if not, you feared you would have met a second Nitya Sinha. Though, it is unlikely vessels like Kanzeon and her sisters are present beneath the sands and mountains of Nuceria, so the question stands, would Angron have made himself a monster? or would his masters.

You sighed, glaring at the Lanista whose sudden, unwarranted answer to the words he misinterpreted as a question as of when the main even, the arrival of the lord of the red sands, drew you from your deep ponderings concerning the so called "Destiny" of your brother enslaved.

"Oh, he arrives when the mob's excitement has reached its peak, when there is a risk for them to riot and do battle amongst themselves, For, the vapors rising from our fair arena's floors can intoxicate as easily as any wine" He says, voice cheerful but eyes threatening, dripping with venom and contempt for you.

You smirked, and glanced to the sun, as it was slowly drawing itself across the mistless horizon.

In a few moments, it will begin. You imagine all of your agents have arrived at their positions along the pathway out of the city you had made as you walked through it, creating a mental math of the route that would allow your brother to escape as quickly and efficiently as possible. And if they taken their posts at the time you expected they would, then a few minutes later, the more skilled members of the branch of the beggar sect that has reached and established itself in Desh'ea will have planted the explosives you had taught them to personally make. Explosives of remarkable power, considering they were made with local materials alone. Perhaps, it is fitting then, that the unbeaten champion of the Thal'kr shall depart from their death games with a fireworks show. It would certainly be the first seen by Nucerian eyes, and would be rather more destructive than those that are a part of Long-Jian festivities. So, you made yourself comfortable, and turned your gaze from the skies and gave your whole attention to the matches underway, idly twisting a lock of your illusionary beard as you waited for your brother to make his appearance. For, when his match began, there would be but a matter of moments until the city that had taken him as its thrall would be shaken by the thunderous applause of several hidden batches of high yield explosives, and the sky would be shrouded like Shangrala's own, but with fire and smoke in the place of cool mists and gentle fogs.

A satisfied, triumphant smirk graced your lips as you relaxed against the cushions of the loaned sofa you laid upon.

"It should not be long at all, then" You sneered, smiling mirthfully as you turned to face the Lanistas who gathered around you, and wondered if you would be able to get a noose around their necks before you to must retreat from this place to travel to the location you have prepared and readied to be remembered in history as the site of the reuniting of two brother primarchs, separated by the vast cosmic sea and heavenly sky.

Yes, it would not be long now.
_

Trumpets sounded and drums beat, rousing Angron from his day dreaming as he sat, motionless in the communal cells, were the thousands of gladiators that had been brought from their cages to fight for the amusement of the tyrants above, to delight the high riders and the creatures who served them with slaughter and death. He had been waiting, not for the summoning call, but rather a third messenger to emerge from the shadows dancing around him, cast by firelight. None had came, but, his instincts warned him to be wary and onguard. He was fighting against the gladiators brought to the arena by the mysterious grandfather of the beggar, who, from the messages he had been given by his followers, at least presented himself or believed himself to be kin to Angron.

A fellow Giant, who walked as Lonely as Angron did, unaware, dreadfully wondering and considering if he was nothing more than fluke birth, a freak of nature that would know no true fellow and peer. Angron glowered, his heart pounding in his chest as furiously, as scared as the day he, as a child, was thrown into the sand filled pit, and fought and clawed his way up and way from a rising sea of all consuming acid. The day where he had shed the last of his tears...or so he had thought, it would seem, after so long an absence, his ability to cry has returned to him. He was thankful it had, it made him feel...human, like his brothers and sisters of the arena, that he could show he to felt sorrow, felt pain and felt fear. He took in a deep breath, smoke washing against his tongue as he lifted himself from the bench, and alongside his father in all but blood, marched to see the sun's setting light for the first time in days.

They had lifted pillars, throughout the arena, upon which were chained men like beasts known as Ogryn. Angron understood, at least hypothetically, that these behemoths that were second only to him in size, mass and musculature, could be intelligent and speak like any other men, but the high riders had turned all of those native to Nuceria to little more than feral, cybernetically lobotomized animals, that stood as gross caricatures of true men. Their arms had been replaced with drills, flail heads, and the heads and blades of chainaxes and swords. They had no eyes, and were slobbering and roaring as they struggled to rip themselves from their chains to butcher everything around them until they were put down like rabid dogs. Angron pity'd them, for they had taken the butcher's nails, one and all, and knew well that whatever personality they had might have possessed before they were taken from their brainless mother's bossom, had been replaced with a clean slate of murderous rage and intent. He felt his skin rise up and tighten as a feeling of disquiet took hold of his breast, sinking its fangs deep to press against the surface of his warrior's heart.

"Poor bastards" Oenomaus whispered, from behind the visor of his helmet, his disgusted expression revealed through the gaps of of its visor, casting rings of shadow across his face "If I was ever given the nails, I hope, you or one of the other boys I've raised would be merciful and end it quickly"

"And I hope you would offer me the same release, father" Angron whispered back sadly, glancing down at the age worn fighter who had brought him up when all others had treated him like little more than a motherless pup "Such an existence cannot be called like, for all of one's feelings to be taken away, leaving only rage and hate"

"Too many live for years, after they've been nailed" Oenomaus sighed as he threw his trident into the air and caught it, while Angron checked the polish on the two axes he had taken from the armory having felt strangely drawn to them

>>5363850

"The greatest cruelly of the high riders...but, you have that fire in your eyes still, I take it, we'll try to escape later? I heard you spoke with those Loc'rian fighters. Are they are friends or foe?"

"Former, and I don't think we'll have to wait long, an ally has approached me, from beyond these walls. I do not know how he intends to help us but" Angron said, pausing as those fighters who serve his supposed kinsman approached, weapons raised in respect to the unbeaten. Angron dearly hoped he would not have to kill any of them. But he didn't finish his thought

As the ground began to shake violently, as a terrible roar filled the sky. Oenomaus caught himself, stomping down as the several more great bellows followed the first, rippling and cracking through the air like a thousand rips. Gouts of smoke, plumes of fire, were rising beyond the arena's walls. The crowd was panicking already, the blasts of noise and violent shaking were getting closer with every roar. Angron understood then, exactly, how his faceless friend and family member had planned to help him in his latest breakout.

An explosion of force pushed its way through the air, and against Angron's bare chest, as a pillar of fire and smoke erupted and broke through the Arena's walls. Several gouts of flame, containing more power than anything Angron had ever witnessed ripped from the earth and into the skies, cracking the unbreakable walls of the oldest and most treasured arena of all of Nuceria, the truest sign of Thal'kr's power and influence. It was breaking apart, and the gladiators brought here by the hunter of gold and lonely giant, rushed towards them, cutting the throats of the chained Ogryn as they ran.

Oenomaus, who did not realize the fire and roars were not produced by some great beast, remained on guard, eyes wild with fear as the other gladiators of Thal'kr readied themselves to fight the strangers or do battle against the invading firespewers. Angron snarled, growling at them to force them to stand down

"We're all brothers in chains, they are no threat to us, and will lead us to where we must go to escape this hell!" he roared, turning away from the foreign fighters "Follow me! We'll make our way through the cells and stables! We will not leave a single man, woman or child to suffer at the hands of our masters! The walls have been split open! We'll find out way to freedom, at long last! We will not be captured again"

"Your as cunning as you are strong, unbeaten, for you could tell we have been given orders to guide you along the path to liberation and to a place where a wise old man who dearly wishes to meet you is now traveling to himself" The one with the scar across his stomach shouted happily "And it will be our honor to help you cut down any bastard who dare to stand in your way"
Cont
>>
>>5363852

Angron grinned wickedly, his grip tightening around the haft of his axes, as he lead the charge into the holding pens where he and his fellow liberators washed over the guards stationed their like a red tide of blades and fury, a red tide that only grew as the locks were struck from their doors which were then torn open, and what was once a party of two dozen swelled its ranks to become thousands. And every step Angron took at the head of his army of slaves, was followed by another percussive blast as more and more explosives rattled Desh'ea's walls and streets to their very foundations!

He swung his axes, slicing through the ranks of the guards sent to quell the escape and impede his march out of this dammed city before they could even defend themselves. His face, contorted into a snarling mask of rage, beamed with excitement and a childlike joy beneath his furious visage, as the blood of the men who served his oppressors soaked into his arms, splattering across his face and chest as he painted his axe heads red. And, the few opponents he left to the others, were cut down with curious moves performed by the gladiators trained by Hunter of Gold, who fought without viciousness but rather cold, calculating attention. Angron smiled, as he booted down the gates leading to the training yard, and the fighting spread out, slaves, thralls and gladiators alike washing over the arena guards, pulling them to the ground and trampling over them as Angron exulted in the warmth of the setting sun and roared in triumphant, yelling louder than the last of the explosions rocking the city as Oenomaus cheered and cried.

But, there was little time to celebrate the first step of their mass escape, as the Loc'rian gladiators kept running, their eyes dancing around in search of something. And Angron found what it was, an man dressed in same dark wrappings as the beggar who found him in his solitary confinement, standing atop a broken wall, half hidden by smoke darker than any he had seen before with his own eyes, darker than even the depths of the arena's cells.

"MEN! FOLLOW ME! WE'LL HAVE TIME TO HAVE OUR REVENGE! NOW WE MUST ESCAPE TO THE WILDS! AND TO DO SO QUICKLY WE MUST FOLLOW THE GUIDES LEFT TO US!" He commanded, following after the gladiators "EVEN IF YOU CANNOT SEE THEM, EVEN IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THEM, THEY SHALL GUIDE YOU THE SAME AS I! JUST KEEP MY BACK IN SIGHT AND FOLLOW MY VOICE"

Angron did not pause to admire the destruction wreaked through the city owned by the Thal'kr, and couldn't even if he had a desire to, for it was filled with burning smoke and toxic smelling fumes. But beneath it all, he could see more men, waving him on and shaking banners of strange looking lions in the air. The beast must be a symbol of the lonely giant, he thought as he pushed his way through the smoldering clouds, leading his fellows through the chaos, chasing the snarling face of a white cat with threads of silver woven into its fur.

Cont
>>
His mind was blank, a joy brighter and clearer than any before filling him and radiating outwards like the light of the sun itself as he ran through the winding alleys and streets, followed an army of now freed men, an army larger than he had ever hoped would join him when he had finally freed himself.

And army, that consisted of every gladiator kept within the greatest and largest coliseum ever built upon Nuceria.
_

"Find these men's estates, and free the gladiators kept there" You order the head of the local branch of the beggar sect, who kneels before you, alongside the other elders who had been given the duty and privilege to organize the "Fireworks" That now hid your brothers flight to freedom. And the flight of a vertible horde of other slaves, who he had seen fit to free. Already, you could see the kind of man your brother Angron might be. He could have escaped quicker, and risked detection less if he had gone alone or with a small party, but instead, he ran back into the hell he had been raised in, to free those still imprisoned within. A detour, which you were all to happy to cover for, by keeping the attention of the High riders and their commanders away from that great escape, by setting off a few more explosions, closer to their palaces.

You smiled proudly, as you watched Angron vanish into the smoke, running along the route you had drawn for him, as you wiped your hands clean of the filthy blood of the slave owners you had been forced to keep the company of. They had taken you with them as they fled the arena, and had been trying to find safe passage to their villas, when your followers appeared from the rooftops. So, while they were distracted, you ended them swiftly and moved through them like wind through reeds, cutting their throats as you danced, and leaving behind the walking stick you pretended to need as Kynigos the ancient, so he would be counted amongst the dead by the nobility of this city, and not be suspected as the mastermind of this destruction, and the chaos it brought to allow the treasured champion of House Thal'kr to escape and begin a slave uprising. Perhaps, the vanishing of Kynigos would start a war between Thal'kr and Loc'ria, or perhaps, it would be better if he escaped back to his masters, so you may continue manipulating the tyrants of that house to their down fall.

You'd have to weight the two options and find which would be the most beneficial for your schemes. Later, of course, as now you had to make much haste to arrive at the preordained meeting point before your brother did, as he was moving quicker than you had expected him to, and if you did not wish to keep him waiting there with as many rowdy and vengeful slaves that followed him now like he was their mother cliffjumper!

"And once you have, escape the city, there is no time for hangings" You bark, as you throw the hood of your cloak over your head and leave to at last meet Angron face to face, still disguised as a harmless old man.

How do you present yourself to Angron when he arrives at the meeting location, Lieren?

>As Kynigos, playing a game of Go with the local head of the Beggar sect, and playing the part of the addled old man as you get the measure of his character and see the contents of his heart

>as Lieren, casting off the mask of Kynigos as he reaches you and at last standing tall and proud upon Nuceria to at once embrace your brother and apologize for all of his suffering.

>Dressed and ready for battle, blade raised. Issue a challenge to him, offering a spar so he may know you as a warrior, and so you can precisely measure his capability as a fighter. You know he is at least your equal, but do not know if he is your better as a combatant.

The only real option.
As tempted as I am to messing with him a little as Kynigos.
Speaking of which, I think there could be a lot of value in keeping up the façade of Kynigos. We could join the high riders attempts at capturing their gladiators back, since ours escaped as well, and the either leak intel back and/or manipulate them from the inside. It would let Angron be the face of the rebellion too, which might be preferable.

>you feared you would have met a second Nitya Sinha
I was just thinking how similar their circumstances were. But hey, there is no way that would ever happen right?
>>
>>5363970
Putting the person responsible for the crime in charge of catching the criminal is way too much of a classic for us to pass up, and ot would let us pass info to Angron for him to slip away while he does his guerrilla, while we buy time for the Shangrala reinforcements to arrive.
Hopefully by our sneaky tactics would have weakened the High Riders and convinced enough of the underclasses that a open rebellion doesn't become a meatgrinder.

just need to get hold of some resources and get equipment ready for the ones that can fight, of course more stuff would be useful for a rebellion. Like ensuring their coordination, logistics and communications are on fire when we strike

What we could do is urge our patron to build up his defenses and make ready for the encroaching slave army, then sneak Angron's boys in and have them take the city and it's freshly stocked armories.

Leiren does however adapt to situations nigh instantly. Fighting styles, Psykerism techniques, investigations.

I can see him proposing a fight if he deemed Angron to be the blood and glory type.

Signs point to no. He abhors fighting because of how he was raised. He's just too good at it to stop.
>>
>>5364875
It stands to reason that the circumstances and context in which he fought are what he truly despises, not the act of fighting by itself.
I'm sure he appreciates fighting as a beneficial exercise for a variety of reasons. If not now, then most assuredly later.

I know the 2nd Legion will try to imitate Lieren, ut I hope that some of them will try to develop their own offshoots of the fighting styles. Maybe take inspiration from the origins of the Carp stance and make their own stance or even shock their opponents with just no style whatsoever like when Lieren clowned that Khornate demon.

Here is hoping that we save Angron from falling to Khorne and in return we allow It to claim Sanginious. This would really go with our approach of taking inspiration from Big E and Malcador. We have the best of intentions but horrific consequences of our actions.

The sheer fact that the reclamation of the primarchs has started so massivly early gives Emps a big advantage.

With Leiren's technology, especially his portal tech, he can connect the worlds of Perturabo, Magnus, and Angron (with a solid possibility for Lorgar as well)

4 primarchs, able to work together with support as allies and brothers, backed by all their intelligence, skills, and the jump start of tech, means that Leiren is in the best position of any primarch to start empire building, before Emps has even left Sol.

Our only limitation is we lack navigators, which i think we still need. But even that can be circumvented if we secure eldrad as an ally.

As it stands, we might end up so strong and powerful that Emps has to accept us and our Sort of AI family, for the same reason he didn't conquer the mechanicus, we're to strong to be worth it.

This became me rambling, but I'm hype to see the L:eiren lead his brothers into space to reunite humanity and bring PROGRESS to the galaxy

a possible solution to a lack of navigators is to train weaker psykers to fill in the same roll.

i would like to say something.
And that is the use of our tech and in this case of the powerful warp anchors we were able to create.
Indeed both are incredible, it cannot be denied. Shangrila armies even without marines will be not an easy foe, and they are more than ready to prove just how good they are.
But there is the sensible problem of the tech nature for the future with our brothers if we don't talk, and for the warp anchors in reality they just need more time and testing. Lieren and Kanzeon created them in a brief time, but i feel like some additional time should be given especially if we want permanent golden dragon roads/paths/ways. The energy they would need would be large, and they need .... the Journey in there too, with the energy. Something that creates Journey or something similar to the Journey, needs to be there. It should ensure more safety.
Is obvious that any permanent portal (remember the amount of pressure on just the temporary one) needs a very large amount of defenses. And it might be best if they are in a safe place, not just for the portal but for things around the portal. Say settlements.

Lastly it is not impossible that a lot of tech could be recovered and repaired here in Nuceria, with reconstruction efforts. Which could be of additional help for Lieren, though that means we need to have a talk with our brother. Can't just go around doing that.
Beyond all of this i do agree that each of this 4 brothers could begin empire building around them, sort of like Guilliman. They would be connected, able to give knowledge, equipment and even arrange to send expeditionary forces from Terra for gain some Marines. But is best to talk with them first, and beyond that show Lieren cares for them. The second part will be overwhelming for them, when they see him in flesh and bones.

Kek. The Mechanicum would start to feel redundant if it keeps encountering space capable proto empires instead of backwards tech hovels with a superstitious bent

I just adore the image of Astartes marching Necron-style out of golden webway gates upon the imperial world than standing in parade-style raising their weapons in salute for their primarch. Can you imagine it? Underneath every imperial governers spire, there exists a room bearing runes that none know the meaning of except when looked upon they inspire reverence and respect. Upon the astropaths request aid only for astartes to come marching out that of that room to put down the problem before marching back into that room.

THE RETURN OF THE KING
>>
The blistering heat of the day, and the rush of freedom Angron felt both had began to cool as Nuceria's sun set upon the horizon. But neither had vanished, not completely, and the lord of the red sands was uncertain if the flushed, pleasantly warm feeling upon his cheeks that almost seemed to flow down his chest, soaking deeper into him like blood spilt upon cloth. He felt no exhaustion, unlike the still chained gladiators whom followed behind his every step, following him like pups after their mother. They had been joined by other slaves, who, amidst the chaos found or were lead to Angron, either by his guiding shouts or the machinations of the followers of his yet unmet kinsmen. And they, more so than his fellow warriors, were exhausted, and only kept pace by hope. Hope that even if they would not truly escape, they would die free. Some of the more cynical of Angron's comrades had advised him to chase or send them away, to serve as a distraction so they, those who actually could fight against the high riders could march further from their reach. Such cruel council had been spoken since Angron took one of the weakened, tired house servants who had joined the gladiators in their flight, and to the quiet approval of the beggars and freedmen who disguised themselves as still enslaved gladiators, caried her in his arms and slowed his stride enough that even the elderly, young or those too weak from abuse would fall behind and risk being recaptured.

Not that Angron feared such a thing, he could still smell Desh'ea burning through the night, the smoke of that foul, wretched pit of human cruelty carried by winds far more gentle than any he had before felt. The curling currents caressed his cheeks and washed across his back, yet still his face burned. Being free, truly free, had filled him with vigor so potent he felt he could fight all the armies of all the cities on his lonesome. His chest lifted and swelled with joy and pride, and strange sort of smile unlike any he had worn prior had been stuck to his face since he and his flock had been lead from the broken walls of the city that had taken a boy and named him slave. He was in high spirits, and didn't know exactly how to process that, or what to do next. He knew, vaguely, he was being lead to the Hunter of Gold, the other, lonely giant born upon Nuceria who had sought him out and through struggles of his own, surely, rallied to his side uniquely skilled and free spirited men and women and orchestrated the first strike against the tyrants while they sat comfortable in their thrones, surrounded by excess and committing their banal cruelties upon all those beneath the. That, brought a coherent thought to the excitement clouded mind of Angron. How had this man, his brother, remain hidden and unseen to gather such a talented force, and how had he devised a means to produce so explosives of so high a payload. How long had he been planning this escape?
Cont
>>
>>5370264

How long had he, growling and seething in the distance, watched Angron and wept for him. How many years have the plan that saw Desh'ea in flames and the Unbeaten unshackled been fermenting. Angron decided, it didn't matter in the slightest, and smiled all the more for it as he continued up the forested hill the beggars and the hale gladiators leads him up, in completely silence. The little girl in his arms moved, asking quietly to be let down. Angron obliged, but kept his hand wrapped around tightly her own, tiny and fragile hand. Oenomaus walked at his side, eyes narrowed and peering ahead.

"Do you know where they intend to lead us, son?" He asked plainly, hand still tightly wrapped around his sword's hilt

"No, but we have every reason to trust them" Angron answered just a bluntly, sighing through his nose "and I imagine you'll have your answer soon enough, we've nearly walked to the top of this hill and even the strongest of us cannot walk for much longer. And if this brother I have never met was smart enough to engineer the chaos that allowed us to make a break for our freedom, and set a route for us to follow, I imagine he'll have planned for the limits of our stamina"

"If he cared for any one but you, and we still do not know if he is your brother by birth or by breed alone" Oenomaus said cautiously, still not trusting the benefactor that had risked his men and perhaps himself to see them sprung from their cages, unlike Angron, who, at least for now, put his trust in the giant who called himself his brother "It could be he expects only you to meet him, wherever he's made his home, and we'll soon be forced to watch out fellow escapees fall faint and collapse"

"If he is as wise as his lackies hold him to be, he wouldn't have. And from how they speak of him, I can only believe he hoped I would see my fellow slaves freed" Angron said sharply, to which his mentor, respectfully nodded, clearly still holding his doubts to the benevolence of their faceless ally.

But, Angron was proven right in not even an hours time, before the sun had fully vanished behind the horizon, when the skies remained a shade of deep purple, rather than a sea of black speckled with distant lights.

At the top of a hill, was a fire from which arose white smoke that curled and danced through the air as if it were controlled by strings. Around it, sat old men and women, playing strange instruments, among them was the beggar who had met Angron in his cell and who had given him to the first halves of the two messages given to him by his brother. Yet, he saw no giant amongst these old timers, who sat, in quiet dignity, playing a song unlike any he had heard played before, it was delicate, like the hand he still held, and far more subdued than the bombastic music played to herald the arrival of a noble and his entourage
Cont

or the kind of song that would be played in the arena to smother out the screams and cries for mercy of the gladiators, to keep the mob happy and content without diluting their bloodlust and entertainment of the grisly sport.

Angron stepped into camp after handing the girl he lead's hand to another gladiator. He was followed by his father, while the other recently freed men watched from the edge of the camp, ready to bolt if things turned unpleasant, suddenly. The unbeaten's battle trained eyes gazed over the gathered, searching, perhaps, to see if one of the kneeling musicians somehow hid a replica of himself in their shadow. He held his arms out, looking up to the sky, wondering if, perhaps, the lonely giant had gone out into the woods to rip a tree from the ground and was not present in camp at the moment. His bafflement quickly heightened towards irritation, if not outright annoyance. A little flare of anger rose within him, souring his otherwise triumphant and joyous mood as he walked further into camp, neutral expression pulling towards a snarling frown as his apparent hosts ignorned them, mumbling gibberish as they played.

Except, Angron noticed as he now stood directly in front of the fire, staring through the white smoke that lifted up above his head but not before washing against his face with embers and the taste of ash, one of their number, more bent and withered by age than all the rest, with a long white beard and eyes that might have once been gold, before cataracts dulled their shimmer. Angron's heart skipped a beat, as an uncomfortable thought that, perhaps, he too would one day shrink and wither down to the size of the ancient, liver spotted creature, who had been bobbing and nodding his head to the peculiarly ethereal music his companions played.

Angron's lips trembled, as he forced his jaw to part so he could speak from beneath his shock as he realized, almost instinctively, the tiny old man before him, was the other giant that sought him out, as he slowly lifted his head and considered him with eyes of such profound wisdom and gentleness, he was almost brought to his knees in disbelief, they seemed to pierce him deeper than any blade ever had, looking into not only his eyes by the soul behind them. He was, in the simplest and most polite terms, shocked that this was the hunter of gold, the brother who sought him, the other giant of Nuceria. How long had he spent gathering his resources and organizing the liberation of the Thal'kr's arena, indeed

"Brother?" Angron asked, in disbelief, hoping that his savior had not devoted his youth and life to see him risen from his chains

The man stood with a casual, almost teasing smirk, as those clouded eyes of his flashed cold silver before becoming a blazing, sparking golden. Angron gasped in awe, as if he had seen the rising sun for the first time in his life, as the withered ancient lifted his shoulders and straightened his back, and grew with every step he took towards the fire
>>
>>5370267

No, it wasn't as if he expanded and suddenly lifted upwards, instead it was as if his weakness and small stature were gradually slipped from his shoulders like a falling robe. The other beggars, watched with awe very similar to Angron's own as the long, hanging beard vanished in the smoke of the fire and the heavy, drooping jowled face of the man was replaced with a fiercely carved image of vitality, masculinity and youthful power. There was a scar across his nose, and scarification on his head, like a slave brand of sorts, but shaped unlike any Angron had seen before.

His hair was long, and colored as iron. Angron's eyes slowly lifted up, as the giant grew to stand even taller than himself, his expression and the eyes set within the face that wore it never losing their tenderness nor sheer glee as they looked the gladiator king up and down. He was wearing a set of robes, white as the smoke that separated them and surrounded them as curling tongues.

"Brother!" the giant revealed answered, grinning ear to ear in a very feline way, as he stepped over the fire and wrapped his arms around the stunned Angron, tightly and lovingly embracing him as the bald gladiator looked ahead in astonishment, struggling to comprehend how the giant managed to make himself look so small and hide behind the face of a weak old man. But those thoughts were silenced, as hot tears filled the gladiators eyes, and he returned the stranger's affections, lifting him from the ground even as his arms screamed in protest

"BROTHER!" Angron bellowed in reply

"I am sorry you have suffered at the hands of such blind tyranny. I am all to familiar with the excessive sadisms that come naturally to those men who fall victim to the alure of decadence and wealth" His brother whispered softly, softer than the music or smoke surrounding them "I am sorry you had to endure their cruel attentions and serve their wicked wills as executioner and entertainment. My heart has wept ceaselessly, as my eyes could no longer shed tears unless I were to flood these plains with my sorrows, since the moment I learned of your plight and unjust imprisonment. No man should ever be made a slave or forced to kneel so low. We are meant to stand, tall and proud, amongst the stars in the heavens, not toil, shackled to the earth as beasts of burden"

Angron couldn't help but think to himself this brother of his certainly enjoyed the sound of his own voice, and had a queer, flowery way of speaking with it, like every word that left his mouth was a poetry or constrained to some unknown code of courtesy. Angron also wondered why he was apologizing to him, as it wasn't like he had anyway to prevent him from being enslaved to begin with.

"You have my gratitude" Angron said, confused as he still held the other giant in his arms, as he to was held by his own , but still trying to be at least somewhat cordial with him "I can tell you speak those words earnestly"

There seems to be a bit of a pattern to Lieren. He tends to be a person's right hand man. If that person is a tyranical despot then Lieren will absolutely ruin then and tear up their foundations covertly. If that person is somewhat decent or virtuous he'll raise them to great heights.

If the Great Crusade occurs as it did in canon as a planetary governor hearing that Lieren is temporarily serving you would be both terrifying and amazing.

Falling on the usual between updates gap; things we SHOULD mention to our brother?
I'd start in that we come from another world, we can get our initial city support with some scheming (none if the journeyman supplanted his brother).
Maybe add something about sparring when we have the time, to truly know each other through the flows of combat, as OPPONENTS
>>
>>5371568

We definitely should mention that there are others out there, more of the family that is. That him being here was one of the most unfortunate things that had happened due to "xeno's" fuckery.

Oh, and once we actually do spar, we should definitely teach him our techniques if he wants to learn them.

I also agree with what you wrote as well.
>>
>>5371669
I'm debating on whether or not we teach him the Fog Panther style or the Nightcrane style.
I'm sure he'd get a lot of use out of either one.
>>
>>5371670
I mean, if we are sticking by the theme of letting Angron choose his own path, let him decide. We can use all the styles in the spar, or multiple spars and let him decide if he wants to learn any of them.

Just imagined World Eaters (If they are still renamed as such) doing kung fu flips and shit, sparring with our own legion whilst everyone else just watches in awe and confusion.
>>
>>5371673
Alternatively, they create their own style based off of what we teach them, a la China and the Ryukyu Islands..

Oh God, imagine if we are quite literally China in terms of cultural influence for East Asia, wherein we leave a mark on every legion out there. On one hand, cool and funny, on the other, Big E might get very, very paranoid.

>World Eaters (If they are still renamed as such)
Since Angron isn't nailed, I doubt he's going to be doing any "world eating", per say, so I think the twelfth legion will have a different name after uniting with Angron. Shit, maybe they'll stay as the Warhounds, considering Angron canonically likes dogs.
>>
>>5372250
maybe they'll be called chain breakers or something to do with red or blood sand
>>
>>5372266
I think Chain Breakers is a great name, but if they go with something else, it's still works as a mission statement. Even more than Lieren, Angron will take issue with sentient beings being kept in bondage. The XII very much could specialize in planetary liberation on top of ripping and tearing, sorta like a Raven Guard who traded stealth for melee.
>>
>>5372266
>>5372515
I think Chain Breaker/the breaker of chains works better as a title for Angron, rather than the name of his Legion.

Zao'li of the Panther Legion was melancholy this day. He had held the line beside his brothers of squad for three months but now supplies were low and it seemed with them stationed so far from the other forces upon the Moon of Vaxol IV they would be lost tot he xenos hordes that hate become true enemies from simple foes with their betrayal of the Imperium.

But suddenly he heard a voice? Instantly on guard lest he fall prey to one of the Darkest Whispers tricks he steeled his mind but quickly recognised the speaker...Cousin Osarun of the Thousand Sons?

"You look worse for ware Cousin-" he spoke in a friendly ton "I do not expect you to lower your mental defences to reply but i offer this hope; help is one the way".

No sooner that the message ended from the sky rained several heavily modified drop pods? Each bore a shield generator and its own defence measures? all of which bore the Insignia of the Iron Warriors? Had their eccentric but beloved cousins come to aid them? Were they not needed back at the High Bastion siege? Did they have men to spare?

His question however was answer when not iron Warriors emerged but rather a heavily armed Squad belonging to the Chainbreaker legion, the Sons of Angron himself!

Zao'li stood from his cover as the sergeant of the newly arrived squad strode towards him while the area was secured by the others.

"Daylon son son of a bitch!"
>>

>name
On Terra they were informally called the Chimaera Legion, for how factionalized they were. Dae Hyun thinks Fortunate Sons might stick, but that could also just be a name for him. I sorta like Mist Stalkers or Far Wanderers, but that's purely my opinion.

>colour
Massive shitfest compared to the name. Golden helmet lenses are the only thing everyone can agree on. Someone made a scheme that people liked, but it wound up being the same as the Mentors chapter. Another one suggested colors that wound up being the Yan Dynsasty's heraldry. A third suggested an azure and plum gradient like the robes we sometimes wear. I don't remember what the problem was with that one, but the shouting match was large. Honestly, Malal should just pick himself to avoid half the thread being Pert-tier bitter. Better yet roll for it. 1st roll of the quest.
>>
>>5373133
my personal favorite was white and gold with a blue or green trim. I don't see why having the same colours as the mentors would be a problem. we can just say they later stole our colours. I also vaguely remember the azure and plum gradient looking just looking bad.
>>
>>5373128

>>
>>5373133
>I don't remember what the problem was with that one
The problem was it looked like shit. Gradients do NOT look good on armor. Maybe as part of the chapter symbol, but not as the main armor color.

Personally, I've always liked the idea of companies/chapters/warrior lodges/what-have-yous in a legion having different color schemes. Maybe we could do that for the Second Legion.
>>
>>5373475
As nice as that would be, it could get rather confusing quickly and its not really efficient.
I quite liked how our current sons distinct themselves in the sects with a trim on their gauntlets.
Azure and plum is a very important color for us so it could be in the legion banners and/or ceremonial robes; but I'd vote for something more practical, white and gold is too Yan so maybe replace the gold with jade green to go like Kanzeon, ultimately our heraldry should be decently practical though
>>
>>5373598
An idea I had for the armor color would be bone body, black trim, and azure and plum pauldrons and knees, but I'm fine with anything that's not that godawful gradient color.
>>
>>5373475
Idk the gradients looked pretty good to me, besides the schemes that featured azure and plum not as gradients where also pretty good

Chainging my vote here. Drooping the "tell him that his people can rest" from my vote.

>Introduce yourself properly and politely 10

>Tell him that his people can rest 20

>"We wait until my reinforcements 1

>"That is for you to decide 16

Write-in:
>Inform Angron of your army's voyage across the stars and suggest that it might be prudent to "set the stage", laying the groundwork for what will surely become a swift and decisive victory for your combined forces. 2

>"Your people are tired and we have much to catch up on, some let us hunt and bring the camp some more food. While they rest together we can come to know one another as we do our part" 1

>"My brother in sure you have many questions, please ask and I shall reveal all I can. (Keep the same chaos story as we used on Pert if it comes us) 1

>Lay out all the options we can offer to Angron. Although we are prepared to help, this is his home planet, so he should have a say on how it is freed from tyranny. Does he want to start with introductions first? Perhaps he would first prefer an explaination for our existence Would he like to wait for our army to arrive? Or would her prefer to act immediately? What is your choice oh brother of mine? 2

Calling the vote now. Sorry for taking longer than I had said I would, still felt too out of it to write yesterday.

>>5375663
This count is accurate, so

LIeren will tell Angron "That is for you to decide, you're the leader of the only army we presently possess. I am content following your lead, for now, though I'd prefer if you'd indulge my curiosity in you, my newly freed brother in blood and in arms against the most vile breed of villains, tyrants"
and that his people can rest, and that there is much for the two of them to discuss as brothers

Writing now. Very sorry for vanishing for a week. No idea why I haven't been feeling well so often. Think it might just be the summer heat.

Moving back across the fire, turning on your heel, you turned your back to your brother, whose gaze you never once felt leave your back as you took the long, striding steps necessary to stand opposite of him. With a twirl of your wrist, you banished the smoke you had been manipulating with spirit's touch, and then, gracefully, crouched down on your toes before gradually lowering yourself to the ground, where you then crossed your leagues and righted your posture. Angron remained standing, his shaven head shimmering with sweat in the fire light, framed by the blazing light of the setting sun, which surrounded his head like a crimson halo or crown. Still wearing the serene and content smile you had first met him with, you lowered your hand, bidding him to sit across from you with a motion. His eyes flicked back behind himself, as he barely looked over his shoulder towards the band of freed slaves he had courageously liberated and led from imprisonment, endangering his own chances of freedom so they too may savor the sweet taste of liberty and a life without fear of the whip's lash.

"Please, sit down" You say calmingly, seeing that he and his followers are still on a razor fine edge despite the distance they have placed between themselves and their captors. Angron took in a deep breath, and released it as a relaxing sigh as his sharp, piercing warrior eyes slowly closed and his powerful shoulders at last drooped and relaxed. Dusting his back, he sat down, one leg lifted and the other laid beside it, one arm resting upon the former and the other used as a rest for his chin. He says nothing, and his people do not move from the defensive formation they have taken, just beneath the crest of the hill you have made camp upon. Your own followers hide the shock they feel of you revealing your true-self well, realizing that this meeting is no time nor place for dramatic expressions of disbelief or questioning. Instead, they keep playing their song as your brother, Angron, stares at you fiercely, his eyes wordlessly repeating the question he had just asked of you.

Smiling still, you pressed your hands together and bowed your head, in deference to your apparently younger brother.

"That is for you to decide" You state, causing a brief flicker of confusion to express itself upon the sun hardened and battle scared features of Angron's face, which you allowed to pass and for him to recompose himself and resettle before continuing on, lifting your chin slightly and smirk coyly as his eyes narrowed "you're the leader of the only army we presently possess, after all"

That revelation gets him standing again, as he lifts himself from the ground with a start, as his eyes widen in disbelief and his face blanches as he looks at you as if just saying those few words was as audacious as being caught sleeping with a lord's wife. You chuckle, bidding him to sit back down as tensions raise and the nerves you had soothed rankle your warrior kin once more.

With hands raised, but still held together in mock prayer, as he clenches his jaw and bares his teeth.

"That is less than I had hoped" He states plainly, his disappointment and anger that you two brothers lead so meager a force readily apparent and clear as the skies of Nuceria "And that is putting it as kindly as I can, as I do not wish to sour our first meeting, brother. We're outmatched in every fashion, beyond the power you and I were born, this will be difficult, surviving the storm soon to come, I mean"

"I understood' You answer, nodding your head grimly "But all things worth doing are hard, in some manner or another. And things are not as hopeless as they seem"

"Yes, even if we only have sticks and stones to arm these men and women, they're all champions and legends of the coliseum" Angron states, as you grin jackalishly, knowing that soon you will have access to a much more potent force. Angron's anger dissipates as he sits back and chuckles heartily

"Why, when the winds of freedom travels to the other states, our numbers will swell, and slaves fight more fiercely than any coddled noble son" He boasts proudly, eliciting a chorus of shouted approval as his confident expression wilts as he considers and studies you again, trying to figure out what to make of you, as well as put words to feelings he does not know how to express that have sprouted upon the stony soil of his heart upon this meeting. He is overjoyed to have met you, to know that he is not alone, he is grateful to the point of tears, but he does not allow himself to cry. He would make a marvelous general, a peer of the Unbroken Thunder's howl, and the old fox who in his valor and death redeemed the name of Yan. If not their better. Even Yin Lei can be swayed his emotions, even the old fox could be distracted. But Angron, Angron is focused on what matters, completely and utterly. Winning the fight he has dreamt of since he was first collared and chain.

"So, how shall we begin brother? Fools would think you inexperienced, judging from how few scars you wear with pride" Angron continues, maintain his proud tone and confident presence, you feel his eyes focus upon the scar you wear beneath your eye "But I can tell you have so few, because you are a warrior of unimaginable skill"

"I am a solider by necessity alone, I take no pleasure in killing or joy in slaughter" You answer somberly, shaking your head "Thought, you are correct to assume my martial skills have reached a towering height, but that is only because I must fight, to achieve my ends"

"In that, we are the same, that is comforting" Angron says quietly, so as not to be overheard "Though I would be more comforted to know if you actually have a plan, I am out of my element, and you are clearly a tactician of a sort. All I know is battle, I do not know war"

"Wise words, but I am content following your lead, for now" You answer humbly, causing angron to grind his teeth in displeasure as he realize the weight of command is his to bare, at least for the moment

"You're a troublesome sort, aren't you" He laughs, smacking his knee. You simply shrug and grin excitedly

"SO I have been told" You admit with a wink "But while I would follow you wherever you may march, Angron, though I'd prefer if you'd indulge my curiosity in you, my newly freed brother in blood and in arms against the most vile breed of villains, tyrants"

"We have no goal or destination" Angron answered "When there is nothing to do but talk, talk"

"And it would be wise to allow your followers a chance to rest after the taxing journey you have lead them on, so they may recover from the ordeal of slavery and escaping it" You state kindly "Trust me, there is no danger here, so long as you and I remain"

Angron nodded, and whispered the gladiator with grey lining his beard, who must be to him like Jinhai is to you, or, more aptly, like your honored father Wenyan. You smile warmly, as the man marches back to the line of thralls and slave gladiators and delivers Angron's assurances that no harm will come to them, and that this lonely, isolated hill will suffice as a refuge for the time being.

"So, brother, what do you wish to say to me" Angron asks with a respectful nod as the two of you sit, surrounded by smoke and music, as tongues of fire dance between you, and the burning wood cracks and spits up embers and sparks "You talk a lot, and I clearly have much to be taught if a second giant existed upon Nuceria's red sands without my knowledge"

"Or anyone else's, including my own students, underlings and fighters" You answer back happily "And there is a great deal for both of us to discuss at length and as fair equals, both in terms of how we shall battle against the menace and agents of tyranny and oppression and each other"

"It'll be best for us to know one another, and forge a bond beyond the blood in our veins" Angron bluntly answered, as his fellow gladiators gathered around the fire in silent reverence, except his father, who sat beside him on his haunches

"Aye, blood means little until it is spilt. Family can easily turn on one another, or be forced to" He interrupts, boldly, and you can tell at a glance that he one of the rare few men who can speak on equal standing as Primarchs, like your own companions both living and lost. If only Wenyan were here at your side. What a pair they'd make.

"Trust, is a valuable thing, it must be earned" He advised Angron, who keeps his attentions solely on you, his eyes almost as piercing as your own as he measures you up without speaking a word

"Has he not done enough Oenomaus. Desh'ea burns and we are freed by his hand" Angron rebutted, wagging a finger at his father, who warily eyed you, enduring your piercing gaze as you examined the contents of his heart and quality of his character at length. He lasted longer than most before he had to break his gaze from yours, wincing

"We owe him at least our trust" Angron said with an attempt at a gently smile to match your own casual smirk, but it looks much more threatening upon his lips

"He'll have mine when I know his name" Oenomaus hisses, pressing a hand to his head as he hides the confusion he feels, wondering what was the sensation he felt as you looked upon him, fearful of it.

"I can't keep calling you only brother" Angron dully jests "Though know that, at least I already trust you, and admittedly admire you for that clever trick you pulled in breaking Desh'ea open and setting it aflame"

"Lieren" You state, and there's a period of silence as Angron and his adoptive father exchange glances

"Just Lieren?" They both as in unison,

"Lieren alone is enough for friend, foe and enemy alike to know me" You confidently answer, pressing your knuckles to your chin "It is the only name I have ever need, and one I had given to myself. It means Hunter, from where I'm from, and I believe that to be a most fitting description of myself, both in terms of character and habits"

"Strange name, and I've never heard Hunter's being called anything but Hunter" Oenomaus says, scratching his chin as he studies your expression, looking for signs that you're joking around or hiding something.

Angron however, has only grown more curious of you now that he knows your name

"Perhaps I should give myself a name, and cast off the one given to me" Angron says almost idly "Though, now that introductions are out of the way, Lieren my brother, I should learn more about you, since you seem to know much about me"

"Only the crimes committed against you" You answer sorrowfully

"Then we'll keep speaking our fair share" Angron said, frowning upon hearing your words "I have many questions to ask, and if you only know how I've suffered, I imagine you have about as many"

"You are correct, though the longer I look upon you the more your courageous spirit and compassionate heart are laid bear to these eyes of mine to behold and admire" You reply coolly, leaning closer to the fire "So please, feel free to command the conversation, I have a talent for understanding men at the briefest of glances, and can come to a deeper understanding of you, by hearing which questions you ask and what order you present them"

"You manner is strange to me, but somehow reassuring" Angron said, clearly baffled by your statement "But, if that's what you want, I'll start, and then you can ask the next question. Tell me, where were you when I was captured, and where were you when I was enslaved in the arena"

You bow your head

MALAL LIVES!! *stomp stomp*
>>
And then lift it, eyes glimmering merrily as you look into Angron's eyes, and from across the fire and smoke that separates the two of you, smile just as warmly as the flames dancing before you. Clapping your hands together, you quickly adjust your posture and take in a deep, ponderous breath, wisps and trails of smoke drawn to your lips as both parties that haven taken this hillside camp stare and listen at you intently, some with reverence and others with curiosity. Angron narrows his eyes, trying to anticipate what you'll say, but remaining silent despite the questions smoldering in his heart. Lifting a hand, you daintily trace it through the air, turning it over and lifting it above the fire, reaching out to your brother, whose eyes immediately and instinctively check to see if it is holding a weapon, a look of amused bafflement dominating his hard features as you lift your hand up higher and higher, towards the setting son and seemingly endless horizon. Then, swiftly, you swung your hand down, and smacked it against your knee, and did the same with its twin. Leaning forward, you took on the posture and mannerisms of a village elder, specifically your father Wenyan, and sighed out, smoke passing over your lips again as you raised your shoulders and stiffened your back. The sequence of movements you had just performed, you found would draw the obsolete attention of anyone listening, a bit of old wisdom that most grey or white haired yarn weavers had figured out or discovered on their own through a lifetime's experience of sharing stories and tales.

"Allow me to regale you with the story of a child who hatched from a metal egg and made jade from nothing?" You begin, speaking in a deep, booming cadence that could carry throughout the hills and to the highest peak of the mountains, with a powerful and low reverberation that sounded like it came more from the ground itself than even a man as mighty and large framed as yourself. You could tell from how your brother raised his eyebrow, and how his followers exchanged glances, that no one besides the members of your beggar sect knew what jade was, but none dare to interrupt the story that was soon to begin, even though Angron's restlessness flows from him like the heat and light of the fire separating him from you, though he has not yet become irritated even if your choice of how to answer him has somewhat exasperated and annoyed him. However, it has also piqued his interest and stoked his already high spirits of escaping the kennels of his former slave masters. So, despite how greatly enflamed he is from the rush of battle and the well spring of joyous passion he feels from leading his fellows to join him in freedom, he allows himself to become reposed and relaxed and leans further back until he is laying upon the wetted grasses of the hill, while Oenomaus and a handful of other gladiators grind their teeth, annoyed and angered that you aren't answer their leader plainly.

But they to, listen to the story of your arrival upon Shangrala and first great deeds and miraculous accomplishments, which you retell to them in the form of one of the many folktales that seem to spring up in your footsteps like so many beautiful and inspiring weeds, though it is of your own creation, since you'd find it rather shameful for the subject of the story to have to plagiarize or borrow from the stories told about him by others. You speak of the suffering of Nothing, and all of the rest of the lands once known as the Yan, and the great famine and hardships that worsened it brought about by the greed of the tyrants who ruled over the common folk with iron fists and sadistic glee. You tell them of the long dead Tax collector Ling, you tell them of your earliest allies, The first brave boys who joined the ranks and formed the Brothers of the panthers to join you on your hunt, Feng, Shaved head Wei, Half Jaw Hu, Liang, Jiang, and Dong, You told them of Jinhai and the other noble, Small Chen, Red faced Wei, Bai, Xin, Zian, Rong and even Fat chen. You do not know when, but as you tell the stories of each of these men, who stood by you since the beginnings of your journey, tears begin to flow freely from your eyes, bitter yet sweet, as you speak of those dead and gone, remembering their faces, their voices, their scents, the sound of their footsteps and sensation of their Qi, and how they looked as Spirits and ghosts.

Composing yourself as much as your able to, when speaking of the departed, you tell Angron of the great Black General, the Unbroken Thunder's howl, Yin Lei, who without you would have never been able to lead the armies of the rebellion as effectively as you had. You tell him of the ancient monk and world wise sage, Guozhi, who you consider both one of your greatest teachers and your honored grandfather, who without, you may have never codified your world view into the Journey, which spread and gathered more like minded and virtuous men and women under your banner to march against the tyranny of the Yan and their ilk. You tell them of the web weaving scarlet spider, Qian Xia, the most cunning and shrewd woman of a generation, whose lessons and assistance brought many putridly wicked nobles to their end by the blade of your Guandao or the noose. You tell him of Lai Song, the lord of cavalry, who was brought into your faction by Yin Lei himself along with the rest of his house, the unchallenged Lord of Cavalry whose expertise and courageous and at times reckless charges trampled over the legions of the tyrants of Yan.

You tell them of Gao Liwei, your time in his services, his monsterous vices, depravities, and cruelties, as well as his stupidity and blindness. You tell them of his servants, and the ends they met.

Cui Fu, who was the first man to ever land a blow against you in battle, and who, in the face of certain death, retained his dignity and honor to face a giant in single combat, without a moment of hesitation or fear. You tell them of Tao Song, a greedy miser who bled his people and lands dry of wealth to serve his own ambitions, who despite his villainous lifestyle and avaricious nature, was still a loving and loved father who accepted his punishment, and smiled contently as you snapped his neck, assured of his family's well being. You tell them of the Former lords Huang, Huang Tengfei, and Lady Luo, Luo Biya, wretched and idle rulers who represented two opposite vices of the old nobility, gluttonous excess and careless wastefulness.

You tell them of Tao Dandan and the Alchemist Shan, the first of Long-Jia's four heavenly geniuses. The nameless steed you inherited from Cui Fu, and your stubbornly Nameless assistant who helped you lay the first stones and bricks of the Giant's road and still serves you as the second in command of your ministry of development as the deputy of the Grand Architect. You told him of Daiyu, who along with her brothers and sisters, redeemed the name of Gao in the years that followed the end of the Yan Dynasty.

You tell them of Mao Bolin, and his brother Mao Jian the wild boar and the fates they both met as well as most of their kinfolk. You told him of Dai Niu and his sons, many of which gave their lives in the wars that followed the liberation of the Long-Jian people. You tell them of the honorable and resentful Kang, specifically Kang Yongrui and the role he played in the death of Small Chen and how you had forgiven him. You tell them of the three brothers Xue, and the two who were crushed by your army, Xue Hong who was obliterated by Shan's artillery and Yin Lei's cunning, and Xue De who had the misfortune of having front row seats to Tao Dandan's "Orchestra". You tell them of the Vishnu in the Bone Devouring forest, Aruna the Deathbringer, Kamakshi the graceful Rudra the strong, Manu the wise, and Akanksha of the rainbow feathers. You tell them of your tiger children, Avinash, Ananya, Sandip and all the rest.

You tell them of your beloved Kanzeon, though take care not to reveal her true nature, though you do loving describe her personality, caring heart and blinding intellect, and just thinking of her brings as fresh tears to your eyes, though these are far happier than those you shed for those who have been lost to you and all others

You told them of Yin Aiguo and the sixfanged spear, but not of the witch flames and fox tail he wielded alongside them.

You told them of Yan Zihao, the old fox and only equal of the black general, the hero of the Yan Kingdom who until the end of this days remained free of the filth that had so stained and consumed it, a reflection of what the yan once were and could have been were it not for the manipulations and seductions of Huli Jing, who you take care not to mention as you near the end of the story of how you turned nothing into Jade, the whole record of your rebellion and war against the Yan, and of all those who joined you in the righteous duty to see the people and lands freed from their evil misrule.

You tell them of Shirong and Cao Yunru, the wise inventor who dreamed he'd take to the skies, and the brave official who risked his life to see the Yan brought low, the two latter members of the four heavenly geniuses.

You tell them of the suffering of Luli, which so enrages Angron blood begins to drip from his lips as he clenches his teeth as you describe the horrific state you found that faithful young woman in. The crowd turns from entertained and amazed to darkly furious as you detail the nightmares and abominations that filled the Celestial incarnation palace, and the depraved desires and hungers of the six Yan princes. Cannibalism, rape of the body, mind and soul, inhuman tortures, the rivers of bloated, living corpses, the twisted mutations and degeneration of the human hunting dogs and steeds they collared and road. Angron's face grows redder and more twisted with rage as you recount to him the atrocities of your first, truest and perhaps most hated of enemies and their blind revelries and monstrous excesses. Oenomaus looks sick, and several hardened gladiators are covering their ears in a vain attempt to drown out your droning voice.

You tell them a lie, of Yan Weizha's death, and claim it was you who brought him to justice, and you who burned his body so his corruption could not spread any further from beyond his throne room. You do not mention his concubine, nor what she truly was. Though, in your mind's eye, you stand before Huli Jing, reliving that night, when you were pushed to your limit to kill a being you barely understood. A daemon, a wicked spirit, a servant of the discordant powers and chaos. And the damned sister of Kanzeon, who betrayed her family and their duty in pursuit of petty pleasures and vain glories. Just thinking of her twists your stomach, as the faces of Mari, gentle and shy, Al-Uzza, studious and proper, Anahita, boisterous and diligent, and the youngest of them, Liberty, Cheerful and innocent despite her colorful language and sharp tongue. Your hands tighten, clenched so tight your knuckles become white as mutton fat as you force yourself to remain silent, upholding the promise of your father as the stench of that fox bitch's musk and multicolored smoke fills all of your senses, even your sixth, spiritual sense that you had honed since you had dealt with her earthly manifestation.

"So, to answer your question, Dearest brother, now that you have heard how the Child of Wenyan made Jade from Nothing" You say, forcefully silence your rage and entering a state of manufactured tranquility "While you were here chained and collared, I was freeing my own world of the same disease that still infects yours, Angron."

"I had a feeling you weren't local, considering how I had never heard of any of these places, or ever met a man who spoke and held himself like you did" Angron says, after a moment of carefully measured calm "Explains most of your strangeness, and how you trained the skills you used to free me, What's the name of the world you come from, it sounds much more pleasant than bloody Nuceria, at least now that you're running it"

"I am not, my brother, Jinhai is emperor of Long-Jia, and Long-jia is not the only free country upon the world" You state simply, smiling as you stand and cup your firsts, to at last properly greet Angron as both brother and friend "I am Lieren of Shangrala, and here I was not born, but rather traveled, as you have already realized"

"Why? how did you even know I existed?" Angron asked more calmly than he had ever spoken to you before, at ease and comfortable now that he was certain his flock was under no threat of being recaptured

You smirk and turn your back to him, to admire the off silver moon of this world, dimmer and more distant than the one that stands above Shangrala herself.

"I despise tyrants, and I dreamt of your suffering, so I made a journey over planets to join your struggle" You say coyly

"And I guess you won't tell me, how you traveled from Shang-rala to Nuceria?' Angron chuckles, sitting on his haunches as he pokes and prods at the fading embers of the fire "Considering your apparent flair for acting mysterious and sly?"

What do you do, Lieren?

Cary's was a far seer and will already have to keep away from Lieren's boys who are coming so either they will know for one reason or another to stay away from Angron or they will just stay on Shangrala troubleshooting the portions of the planet we have no knowledge of.
Hopefully there aren't chaos nations/space skaven near any of the dead ships or at least the remaining three sisters will zip over to them fast enough to mostly prevent trouble if so.

Our first priority is to find a way to nullify the butcher's nails. They maybe archeotech but they're a good potential combat mod or perhaps we'll encounter something similar.

Lieren did make it a point to take an old Aeldari torture device and make it into something that isn't technically a war crime, so it's entirely possible that we could turn the Butcher's Nails into something worth using.
Maybe we could nix the part where they replace sections of the brain, cut off serotonin production, and make murder more pleasurable than sex.
After that we could limit its function to just providing an adrenaline boost under extreme duress or via manual activation. Like an extra little OH-SHIT button for Astartes and Baseline special forces.
>>
>>5383174
It’s outright not worth using. There were device even Lieren couldn’t redesign to separate the usefulness of it from the cruelty in its design.
>>
>>5383174
A noble idea but the nails are just horrid in everything, any benefit they could provide would be easily proxied by automatic combat drug injectors that I'm pretty sure astartes already have, not to mention most issues of power armour.
Sadly, like most of the butcher king's arsenal, there are things meant to be destroyed.
However, we have the knowledge Nucerians lack; like the automatic medical device Lieren "employed for alchemy", there are likely vast manufactoring and/or agricultural devices left unused.
Hell there might even be some terraforming device that was meant to be running and some technobarbarian ripped because he needed AA batteries for his gun, which could explain the migrations Angron thought about at some point.
Just imagine how we could use these forgotten technologies to bring MAXIMUM PROSPERITY
>>
>>5383378
I still think it would be worth examining any currently intact examples of the Butcher's Nails, if only to try and help the slaves who've already been implanted with them.

Looking it over would be alright but there really is no 'usefulness' for it when we have better tech and can do it in a less "your now just a murderhobo in the future" type of way.

Had an idea. So it is known that there are different editions of various texts in the imperium and these texts have actual tangible power especially when wielded by someone who believe they do and because of what they represent. (see book of Lorgar wielded by a word bearer). I say we do the exact same thing by including sections on being inquisitive. Yes I know that the whole purpose of the book is to allow baselines to make their own choices but we can surely hammer the point that humans can and should question everything, especially why they believe what they believe and why others would want them to believe that something is something. I also think that this focus on truth and questioning would accurately reflect Lieran. Further older editions in themselves can be used as chapter relics to assist our legion in battling chaos.

Im not sure whether we have reversed engineered the Astarte's method yet. My vote is we figure out how to do it without robbing our sons of their humanity. Personally I believe the emperor intentionally made the process do that since he did not want them to question their own existence, the hypno indoctrination, propaganda, or whether they could be or do anything outside of war.

>>5385622
If/When the heresy happens, and the Codex Astartes gets written, every Lieren descended chapter being fleet-based would be cool.

Every single chapter from the 2nd will be based, with fleet or without.

>>5385628
I would prefer if they weren't all fleet based. it's a lot harder to bring prosperity if you can't plant your roots. I would prefer if their worlds were bastions of prosperity in an ocean of incompetence.

You mean a one step below golden age level of society where we make Guiliman hate us more than Alpharius, Omegon, and lorgar combined? Then yes. Personally I would love a DornxPerturabo level of rivalry with lorgar or Roboute. While the other primarchs compete against each other we are going to be so far ahead of them that humans will actually be comparing us to the Emperor. Hell if we survive the heresy we make be able to take Daddy place as CEO of Imperium Inc.

So Lieren will explain to Angron in great detail how he came to Nuceria, and that any day now, reinforcements will arrive, whilst also telling him that he cannot reveal the identity of those who helped him travel to Nuceria, as they are of a private and reclusive nature. But that he can tell him of Magnus, Perturabo and their father and the truth of what they are. Primarchs.

"I would be an utter fool if I did, to keep such pertinent knowledge hidden out of a flight of whimsy or self centered desire to appear more mystical and mysterious than I am in truth am, would make me more akin to the tyrants of the old kingdom I overthrew and lead to their well deserved graves" You explain offhandedly, as you gaze into the leaping tongues of flame and dancing ribbons of smoke rising from the fire as your brother tends to it, smirking in amusement as his shoulders visibly lower in relief that you are not going to force him to work his way through riddles and enigma to understand anything or everything about you and the circumstances that lead you.

"Who amusingly enough named me both sorcerer and ogre when they tried to tarnish my good reputation and forcefully take away my away my face and shame my name" You say. Angron lifts his head suddenly, eyes narrowed and focused on the scar you wear on your face.

"The scar has nothing to do with it, Face is another term for societal reputation upon Shangrala, particularly my people, the Long-Jianese. Though I was not troubled by this, as I've never much cared for face or my personal reputation, but they also sought to stain the reputations of my honored comrades" You explain with a laugh as Angron's eyes widen in surpirse

"Huh, I wouldn't have been surprised if one of those Yan bastards had a hobby of skinning off face, considering the cruel art practiced by their princes" Angron huffs, sitting back down with a thud, content that the fire will continue to burn for a few hours more "So, it must be clear that I care little for the intricacies of etiquette and society of a world beyond my own, and would prefer if you could, in however poetic a manner as you must, tell me, how you came from the land of mist and fog to this realm of sand and blood?"

"Well, it is actually quite the fantastical tale, one that would perhaps equal some of my exploits of subterfuge and trickery that leads to my war against the rule of the Yan" You explain, rubbing your chin as your eyes lifted from the fire, to the brilliant moon wrapped and shrouded by pale white clouds, framed by stars that did not shine over the hills and valleys of Shangrala "For I could not have come here unassisted, indeed, though I knew how you suffered and bled for the amusement of devil's in human hide, I had absolutely no inkling of where you suffered or even a vague sense of direction where the world that sought to bleed you dry lay"

"Then how did you find me? Some spell like the one you used to look like a withered, blind fossil?" Angron asked with a snorted chuckle, lifting his nose as you grinned

"No, I traveled upon great rivers, cut through the veil between our material world and the world of dreams and souls, that I was allowed access to by those who serve the austere duty of acting as it wardens and keepers" You explain, idly twirling a stray lock of your iron hued mane around a finger as Angron's brow furrowed
Cont
>>
"That explains absolutely nothing, I've never heard of rivers that flow between the living world and wherever the dead end up" He explained bluntly, but not rudely

"Ah, even the most experienced and educated scholars of Shangrala do not know of these pathways, even the four heavenly geniuses no nothing of them. In fact, no man knows of them besides myself and our brother Magnus, as far as I know" You excitedly explain "They are...remnants of a great cosmic highway, known as the labyrinthine dimension, an apt name and description, considering how easily one can become lost within it, never to again emerge upon any world than man has tread"

"...So, these keepers of the webway, aren't human? What are they then?" Angron asked quickly, almost as soon as you had finished speaking "And there's a third brother? Where is he? Still waiting in the waters of these rivers"

"Magnus the wise, who aided me in seeking out these keepers, is still upon his own native world, and you have already met him. Perhaps, if I call him by another title of his, Magnus the red, you shall remember him?" You answer just as quickly

"Red...I do recall a figure made of red sand that told me...something I could not remember, it felt important and it enraged me that I could not, upon waking, recall what he had told me" Angron said, pressing his knuckles to his brow "Did he tell you of me?"

"No, I told him of you, and he sought you out, as I said, your suffering came to me as a dream" You say with a slow shake of your head "But, he did assist in convincing the wardens of the webway to guide me to Nuceria, of which they were initially hesitant to do so?"

"Because they weren't human, and so my plight meant little to them?" Angron correctly surmised, angry to the point his warm smile has twisted into a wolf life snarl

"Something to that effect, at least those who possess the maps to the Labyrinth, a number of their people actually were as enthused and driven as myself to seek you out and fight by your side, but they are certainly not the standard for their race. They are a cautious and reclusive people, you see" You explain, tenting your fingers as Angron's snarl gradually calmed and washed away from his scared features

"So you will not tell me what, who or where they are?" He correctly guessed

"They are private by nature, and prefer seclusion, and despite their hesitation, I do respect them enough to not reveal them without explicit permission or just cause" You explain, lowering your voice and speaking in a way that suggested sadness intertwined with appreciation both for Angron and those whose identities you kept from him.

As, you had seen before how your sons reacted to the presence of Aeldari, and know that your father had programed, at least into your gene progeny, a sense of revulsion and hatred towards the inhuman and alien. Unless Angron was your elder brother by creation, you were thus uncertain if he to had been born with an instinctive sense of true xenophobia.
>>
>>5385823

And, considering you had only just met, you did not want to gamble his trust and camaraderie on the off chance that he had been made in such a way.

"Fine by me, those who live by hiding have little interest to me, if they don't want to be known to anyone, then I don't care about them" Angron stated with a plain roughness "So, these cowards gave you access to the webway"

"I accessed it by own actions and even reversed engineered some of the ancient technology that construct it to meet our father" You explain sheepishly, feeling pride well in your chest as you remember your creation of the Gold Dragon's river "Though I was given permission to enter as a guest, alongside magnus, into one of their hidden sanctuaries"

"Let me guess, he lives on another planet? What are we? A race of giant conquerors who seed themselves across the stars?" Angron suddenly bellowed, laughing gregariously enough to bring a beaming grin to both his face and yours

"Oh, we are but me. Our father, is a collection of souls inhabitation one body, an ancient being that is devoted to the well being and future of humanity, though you could not tell such a thing at a glance" You explain, causing Angron's face to flush with surprise "He, did however, create you, me and our eighteen brothers to serve as his officers and generals in his effort to reunite a scattered and broken humanity"

"Eighteen?!" Angron gasped, face turning from red to corpse pale in an instant "We have eighteen brothers? And our father is some kind of? Hivemind of souls?"

"Surprising, is it not?" You jest, amused that he was not at all affected by the revelation that the two of you were designed and created rather than born as any other man "You and I, are part of a family more expansive than some of the noble houses of Long-Jia"

"Our mother must be one sturdy woman, even if she is a giant" Angron chuckled, shaking his head

"We have no mother, when I said created, I meant it literally. We were designed through arcane technology and sorceries, our wombs were made of steel and glass" You explain, and Angron's face fell for a moment, his good mood fading as he processed the implications of your words

"Then what are we? you said we were men. Sounds to me like we're meant to be weapons of war" Angron asked, slowly, carefully weighing each of his words

"We are, even if we are far strong, smarter, resilient and naturally talented in ways few men could even fantasize of being, but we are not perfect, for perfection is unattainable" You explain "We stand upon a higher peak than most men, but still, we are not born at our full potential, and have limits like any other men. They are just"

"Far further than most" Angron interrupted

"Yes, and our father does not see us as tool, I spoke to him and he even saved my life. I've seen him shed tears and smile like any other man would" You continue, bowing your head

"Many of the high riders act the same way, but I will reserve my judgement of the man whose left us across the stars until I meet him" Angron said simply in a neutrally suspicious, though near apathetic way "I must seem a failure compared to you who conquered a world, while I languished in chains.

"I got lucky" You say reassuringly

"I doubt that, considering the show you put on for me and the boys" Angron said appraisingly "I might have sounded bitter just , but, I am truly grateful that you are allowing me to succeed or fail on my own, rather than taking the reigns of the rebellion that is rightfully mine"

"We're equals as brothers, and to deprive you of the same chance I had to see my people freed with my own hands, would be unforgiveable" You say bowing your head "And as I said earlier this evening, you are in command of the only army we presently control, even if I was so vainglorious as to take from you the opportunity to uplift and nurture these people scarred and wounded by tyranny and ignorance, It would be rather foolish of me to try!"

You laughed, as Angron contemplated your words, realizing that you had described his force of freed slaves as "Our only army, presently" twice.

"And when your army arrives?" He asked pointedly

"It is still your fight to win, and in truth, I do not know when my friends will arrive through the webway, should be any day now that my betrothed appears at the head of the most elite fighting forces of Shangrala, to even the field against the high riders. Why, when they do, I can introduce you to some of my children!' You happily explain, smirking as you see the worry vanish from Angron's once narrowed eyes, as he is made certain that you do not intend to deny him his revenge against the villains who had made him a slave.

"You'd bring children to a foreign world, soon to be consumed by war?' Angron asked

"Oh by all the stars in the heavens, no. We have had legions of soldiers made in our image. A number of my genesons had been lead to me by our father, when we met. You are a father to one of the twenty legions of Adeptus Astartes, warriors modified in imitation of our own augmented and enchanted physique , as are our Brothers Magnus and Perturabo, and myself and the sixteen other brothers who I have not yet made an acquaintance e with?"

"Perturabo, that's a new name. Could you tell me of him and Magnus?" Angron asked respectfully, his eyes ablaze with innocent curiosity "And why it is we were not in our creator's care, or each other's company from birth?"

You touched the brand upon your brow

How do you answer your brother, Lieren?

>Tell Angron the lie your father had instructed you to spread, before regaling him with the excellence of Magnus and Perturabo.

>Explain you do not know how you were scattered across the universe, as your father never told you.

>Make up an excuse that the soul of a primarch could not be nurtured on polluted Terra, and needed to be "planted" on another world to be born.

>Take Angron aside, and lead him as far away from the camp as possible and then, breaking your oath to your father once more, tell him the truth of wicked and evil spirits

Guilliman is absolutely the jealous type, he seethed when Horus became Warmaster and part of the reason he clashed so much with the Lion during the Imperium Secundus was because the Lion's methods worked where his failed. He has such an ego he can't help but have jealous fits.

Can we outright say that this is not the whole truth, but that we swore and oath to our father to not speak of it except in the direst of situations.

Or tell him the same.thing we told perturabo
>>
Not sure why lying to Angron is getting so many votes. It's paternalistic and sets him up for getting told the truth from chaos demons rather than us. Better to tell the truth or at least say we swore not to reveal their nature. Either he is our equal or is not, no reason to talk out of both sides of our mouths.

We told Perturabo that we swore an oath of secrecy even if we did not tell him the full truth and also told him a story through metaphor so that he could find the truth on his own.

There are twenty primarchs in total, so Angron and Lieren have eighteen brothers.
I wonder if Lieren will be surprised with the Alpharius/Omegon deal and there being twenty one instead, given his truth vision.

More or less what we said to Perturabo
Then talk about, Magnus and Perturabo. He would probably like to know about them.

Seriously everyone, lets not lie utterly to Angron. Tell him we swore a oath to father not to speak the details but give him the basic gist of the whole event and let Angron try to puzzle it out on his own. Just like Pert.

Speaking of Pert I really hope we didn't fuck ourselves over not mentioning that Kanzeon keeps the same secret as Lieren and could only give Pert a sanitized version of the Eldar's history. God I hope Pert didn't think he was getting only the truth from her.

So Lieren will answer by stating "Father is a powerful man but one with many enemies. Enemies that feared our combined potential so they either sought to destroy or subvert us. When fathers attention was diverted they struck. I do not know everything that happened that day but the end result was the same they could not destroy us for our cradles were to well made so they sent us randomly into the universe to spite father"
