/qst/ - Quests

The past, the future, the present... all meaningless in this accursed land. The Heart is in murky stagnation. It no longer beats, drowning in its own lake of putrid blood.

Rancid corruption, nightmares of the dead gods and unspeakable abominations are festering around the heart. The prophesied Lourdihiem , the Realm eater, is starting to manifest around the heart spouting black thunder below the lake. Its eternal hunger will devour us all sparing not a single realm.

Yet, Not all hope is lost. These three brave souls have crossed the impregnable fog to mend the heart and to restore balance to the realms. They won't be the first.... and they won't be the last.

Which of these souls did I send to their demise ?

- Doesn't get along with non humans.

> Seinri
+ Blessed Human Shield maiden of Yuheira, Very high HP.
+ Will be the first to take any damage , protecting her party. Can deflect back some attacks.
- Vulnerable to corruption
- Will often charge first at any kind of foe be it stronger or weaker than her.

>Lokkalf
+A dark elf ranger cursed by Iblainn never to touch the ground, can fly to scout open areas.
+Corruption ( and other curses) increases his attack and health.
- Fairs poorly in closed areas
- Low starting Health
- Will never join the party if it has a light elf in it. Will kill any light elf on sight.

> Miesralf
+A light elf priestess graced by Tvye. Will generously heal any wounded party member with ease as well as any traces of corruption.
+ Highly resistant to corruption.
- Very low attack and health
- Can't heal herself
- Will never join the party if it has a dark elf in it. Will purify and dark elf on sight.

> Gundirr
+ A Fierce Winged Valkalre sent by Douten herself, exceptionally lethal against the corrupted and malicious spirits.
+ Incorruptible, can revive fallen party members at the cost of her maximum health.
- Grows weaker the closer she is to the heart
- Can't really fly too high, her maelstrom of feathers will be a hindrance to other melee focused party members.

> Wvalduur
++++ A bastard child of mortal and unkown divine blood, incredible strength and endurance. Will pulverise anything and anyone with his fists
+ Undying, Any fatal blow will knock him out instead for one encounter.
- Vulnerable to corruption , high corruption is to be avoided at all costs.
- Will curse the gods and desecrate anything related to them which might result in unfavorable outcomes.
- Will grow exceptionally weaker the closer he is to the heart.

Hello , due to how important the first choice is, I will probably update tomorrow unless many you have settled on a single choice. Take your time, anons.

Ah, I see...

Well, that is what I get for writing reviews I guess. That's two snail quests - that I can remember participating in - that I've stuck around with to the end that have died suddenly, I can't imagine what truly dedicated long term fans feel. Perhaps they like the novelty of frequent new creative ideas, or maybe they are perpetually disappointed.

Thier fates are interwined together, I made sure of that. Will it be enough to awake the heart from its fetid slumber? Will the Realm-eater fulfill its prophecy? That remains to be seen.

Brave as they may be, they are mortals at the end. The corruption stemming from the heart will surely consume them even if they managed to succeed. They... do not know that though I suspect the priestess has enough wits to uncover the truth on her own.

The trio are aware of the dangers up ahead. I have done my part and slipped some items of note while they were crossing the fog. I must not directly intervene...

" A blessing from the gods!" The young priestess flaps her rudimentary wings in glee.

" That's a trick, a hex! was it your doing, elf?" The foolish man calling my gifts a foul play? I dislike him... and his god. Brute strength alone will do him no good in these curse-riddled lands.

" Steady, Biserkyr. The fair lady had saved your hide from a troll a few moons ago. It *is* a blessing. " The voice of reason speaks. Yuheira knows how to chose her maidens.

Hul's hound grunts in response, baring his teeth for a blink while the light elf whispers a thank you to Seinri as they inspect my gifts to them: A trinket infused with my power.

Biserkyr picks ___ sniffing it as expected. I must conceal my gift with some Malice. Otherwise , They will find out.

> Moonlit Tooth
Doubles wearer's CR ( Combat Rating, basically determines how good he is in combat encounters) but Halves wearer's WR ( World Rating , for world encounters. More on the rules in the next posts)

> Moontear Gauntlet
Doubles wearer's first attack but Lowers wearer's CR by 20% of its original value

> Moonscathed Helm
Alters certain combat and world encounters for the better but its wearer's will take x1.1 more corruption

Seinri , on the hand, closes her eyes to listen to the power humming within ____

> Sunscorched Eye
The eye will glow whenever a hidden path is nearby. It does however require the wearer's blood to reveal said path ( -10% hp)

> Sunkissed Bracelet
The last enemy killed by the wearer will give extra CR bonus ( half of its original CR) in the next combat encounter with a very small chance for a certain corrupted Valkalre to join the fray...

> Suntouched Scabbard
Enemies hit by the wearer will take lingering damage after each strike... and vice versa.

As for Miesralf, She recites a prayer before checking on ____

> Star-studded beetle
A beetle burrow in the corrupted soil to unearth various items for the party... be it good or bad.

> Starborn Feather
When Outnumbered, there is a small chance for a celestial hawk to rain death on your enemies. Some World encounters will be altered.

> Starheart Pendant
The wearer will never get lost, no maze or foul magic shall cloud their senses. Enemies will tend to attack the wearer more.
>>

> Moontear Gauntlet

Thought about taking the Gauntlet since taking an early advantage in a fight probably helps influence the outcome to a greater degree, and I can't imagine a combat system that would take many turns given a daily posting rate, so combat should be short anyways meaning doubling the first attack is of great importance and little loss, but I don't know if the 20% debuff is permanent.

Whereas making both world and combat encounters better off...and nevermind I just talked myself out of it.

> Sunscorched Eye

Hidden paths woo! Maybe extra rewards or escape paths. The bracelet doesn't say which side the Valkyrie joins the fray on, so I'd rather not risk it.

> Starheart Pendant

Items are more fun but I'm not the biggest fan of RNG, particularly in a unique system that I haven't played thousands of time and where I know the meta like in some roguelike. Feather is kinda boring barring interesting world encounter shenanigans. Pendant hopefully won't be too bad with Seinri there to protect Miesralf.

World Encounters

- At the beginning of each act, you can choose one of three main paths with different positive and negative modifiers.
-Different Encounters will be chosen depending on your rolls ( d100, bo3) with the easiest/most rewarding one the very top ( 90s-100) and the most taxing/ hardest being on very bottom ( 0-10)
- Certain items or trinkets can interfere with our rolls/ choices. Be on the lookout for them.
- Once we reach a world encounter, we will be presented with different choices. Each choice will have its difficulty rating.
- Difficulty depends on our overall WR. ( d100, bo3+ Total WR) Easy= target roll lower than our WR, 100% Success. Moderate= target roll is close to or slightly higher than WR. Hard= Target roll is much higher than our WR.
- Sometimes, Impossible will replace Hard in terms of difficulty. It means that even if we rolled a 100 plus our WR, we won't get it so don't bother.
- Certain actions can replace Encounters with easier or harder ones. Some of the world encounters will be combat ones, they will be labeled so.

0+0+0+0+0+0

Combat Encounters

- They will follow the same vein as World encounters . Overall CR of the party versus CR of enemies.
-For the sake of simplicity, most of the combat itself will be automated ,same rolls will apply ( d100 bo3). There are some certain actions that will need your input but they are few and far between.
_ The only difference is my QM roll which will represent the enemies , damage dealt will follow this formula: ( higher roll of x- lower roll of y) รท 10

> The Bloodmoon Gorge ( Overall Difficulty: Moderate)

This seems best to me, not too gimmicky, we don't have a chance to get stuck in an infinite loop, we can gain trophies and whatever rewards each encounter grants if there are any, we have the sunscorched eye to reveal hidden animal trails and footpaths and we don't have the annoying halved healing and guaranteed damage per encounter.

Mischievous Critters
Party CR=80
Enemy CR =25 ( Base 5 x 5 enemies)
Enemy = Frenzied Critter (5/5 Hp) (A,B,C,D,E)
The once peaceful critters have been turned into rabid monstrosities feasting on the aftermath of a deadly encounter between several hunters and an unknown beast with enough strength to uproot trees. Can it be....?

" Stay behind me." The shield maiden urges her companion who is very troubled by the carnage ahead while Hul's faithful roars in defiance, brandishing his trusty axes. Those five squirrels are barely challenge, I hope. It will be a terrible shame to die from these critters. We shall see.

Someone else is watching them from the skies, ready to swoop in at any second...

These are no ordinary trees. What have she done with this place, I wonder? Fimvulhunnt isn't pleased to lose one of its litter as the Shield maiden quickly delivers a stab to the throat.

The obliteration may seem to be random and indiscriminate but none of my heroes is harmed in any way.... except for the man's pride. He mutters something about ' stealing his glory' or some such, Ugh.

Sunscorched Eye will no longer cost HP to activate!

Party CR=80
Enemy CR =90 ( Base 10 x 2 enemies, 70 from trophies)
Enemy = Haldfir (20/20 Hp) , Yorhom (15/15 HP)
Enemy Special= +10 CR for each trophy in possession.
Encounter Special = Surrendering all of the party's trophies will instantly end the fight.

The light elf has stopped her companions from progressing further for she spots a well laid trap. She picks a pebble from the ground and toss at this suspicious patch of leaves, activating the trap instantly.

Two dwarves emerge from the shadows. From head to toe , they hang their trophies on their bodies with twisted prude. Most of them belongs to the wild beasts around here but some are of human nature. Hunters , probably.

" You want to please her? Hehe hehe. Do you to Bury your face in her bosom? Won't happen...Won't happen.. Me first, first. She will..she.."

" Heads, heads, heads, hand them over.... live." The saner of the two dwarves steps forwards while drawing hid crude club made of hefty beast bones. His twin readies his bow and arrow, waiting for his brother to make a move....

All attempts for negotiation has gone awry when the hot headed shield maiden charges forward. No man or beast shall stop her!

Haldfir doesn't flinch when his twin's head is split wide open in utmost brutal fashion by the human, he lets loose one arrow after another, all deflected by Seinri's round shield.

Dwarves are known to be cunning and full of deceit. They must not underestimate their deranged foe.

In a daring move, Hul's hound throws his mighty axe at the dwarf, severing his right leg in one go. His eyes is full of rage, the dwarf is going to meet his fury.

The hunter doesn't scream, in fact, I think he may have enjoyed all the plummeting given him by the human. His head caves in after a few blows then I turns into a fine red paste.

" He is already dead..." The priestess' plea has fallen on deaf ear...that or the human simply chooses to ignore her. It takes one slap on the face from his other companion to return him to his senses. The party claims more trophies before marching to their certain doom...

Fimvulhunnt
Party CR=85
Enemy CR =50 ( Base 50 x 1 enemies)
Enemy = Fimvulhunnt (150/150 Hp)
Enemy Special= Can only attack once per 2 turns, deals damage to all of the party. Deals at least 10% of the current health regardless of the roll outcome.
Encounter Special = Trophies can be used to increase current roll by 10. Note: used trophy will be destroyed afterwards.

The Riftstone has lead the party to... the clouds? The red skies darknes, pillars of black lightning sprout from down below. A Horrible howl freezes their blood.

Fimvulhunnt has arrived.

Yellow and Black fur spewing lightning at very moment, gaping maw enough to swallow a giant in one gulp, tail so sharp that it can cut through this distorted land. The great beast has chosen to stay here for a reason.

Another roar, full of hatred to both men and gods. They shall know the true meaning of pain. And Yet...

" Uwrst ke Vaansi, Lookig ferrjtdn. " It speaks in an ancient tongue forgotten by all except the followers of Hul.

A ludicrous offer to be sure, Biserkyr had no love for the elf so he will not mind this... change of allegiance. His other companion , on the other hand, was a human following the ' wrong' God. She does have his back on several occasions. Will he abandon them for said promise? The great wolf is bound to an oath, never to tell a lie lest he turns to stone. Both of them know that.

" What are you waiting for? " The shield maiden was oblivious to the current conflict brewing inside him.

If we do fight then I think we have to spam heals every turn assuming the 10% is 10% of the Fimvulhunnt's health every turn, the fight would take forever because of decreased CR and our heal spamming.

Well then, with that clarification I'll switch my vote to the other option. Though, I am curious about the transformation and new characters. Would one of the new characters just be Biserkyr transformed and the other Fimvulhunnt itself? Or would the other two party members be transformed as well plus Biserkyr transformed? It is tempting.

No matter how hard they try to evade harm's way , lightning always finds them. Fimvulhunnt strikes the clouds its electrifying tail dispersing their light-as-feather platform. All has fallen down below....

Death is the one to embrace anyone who has fallen from such heights but she who watches has other plans for them. The triad has landed safety by a gust of rotten wind carrying them to the hollow Insides of a giant broken tree.

" We are not alone..." Hundreds of hungry eyes flashes around them, hidden between every crevice. Wolves, ready to tear them to shreds.

The last blow to the great wolf has enraged it so much so that its strikes become very difficult to predict. The last tail whip has sent cracks through the hollow trunk. In a blink of an eye, the wooden ground has caved in plunging everyone to the abyss below.

0+0+0+0+0+0+0+0

The priestess is the first to check on her human companions. The murky grounds feels... suspiciously fleshy which has soften their landing for sure.

"...!" Seinri suddenly realises what is she standing on: Corpses.

Fimvulhunnt corpses to be exact.

Dozens of them are littered all over this...cave? It is difficult to say where she is at the moment. All of them have suffered an array of injuries with ancient swords , arrows and axes buried in their rotten flesh.

" Show yourself!" Biserkyr is the first to notice ill-fated shadow slithering on the walls, whispering and laughing at their misfortune. Could this be her?

Though gravely injured, Fimvulhunnt stands up with great effort unleashing one final howl that invigorates its failing body. The other corpses begin to twitch in response, uttering dark and malicious words of power. It ends here one way or another.

Enemy Special shift! Choose two of the following.

> Heal for 50 HP
> +20 corruption to the whole party, Attacks will also deal corruption damage.
> In 2 turns , reduce all of the party's HP to 1
> +50 CR for the wolf
> can attack twice in his turn

+ Ascending aspect of Hul who has forgone his human for the sake power very high HP and Attack
+/- Corruption damages his health instead.
- Can't equip trinkets, extremely abysmal at world encounters.
- Easily overwhelmed by bloodlust, after each combat, a roll must be made to persuade him from attacking his allies.

HP : 50/50
ATK: 50
Corruption: 0/0 ( x3 damage modifier modifier)
Active Bonus ( Hul's Wrath) : Spend x% of max health to deal x/5 + 10 to ALL enemies. Once per two encounters.
- Persuasion roll: d20, bo3
CR : 30 ( Base ) + 50 ( HP) + 50 ( ATK) = 130
WR: -50

The human has surrendered to his inner desires , attaing great powers at the cost of his sense of self. His transformation is painful to say the least as his bones are broken and reshaped to accommodate the new soul dwelling in his vessel. His skin is replaced by a layer of thick black fur sizzling with sparks, his face is deformed... a midpoint between a man and a beast.

What stands before the shield maiden and the priestess is an abomination barely able to contain himself from ripping them to shreds. Indeed, Svartruum only wants to murder and to devour any living being within his arm reach. It is a constant struggle to quell his urges. How long will he be able to restraint himself?

An Offering
WR=15

After making their way back to the surface, the party stumbles upon a peculiar statue drenched in murky substance almost obscuring all of its details. At the feet of said statue, a large empty bowl awaits proper offerings for the statue to bestow some kind of blessing in return.

The Sunscorched Eye suddenly begins to purr for a moment before sending a beam of light in front of the bowel revealing a hidden path dimly lit by black candles.

" Thank the gods. Let us proceed." The sole human in the party sighs out of relief.

" Wait," the elf stops her " We must make an offering first. It is very unwise to proceed without doing so."

Svartruum has nothing to add except for scratching its uneven ears, drawing a speck of black blood. Though he loses his ability to speak, it is clear that he wants to desecrate the place.

A banquet of roasted boars, bountiful fruits and cold ale awaits the party at the end of the path. All of them are famished so they don't hesitate to dig in right away. It was rather ...irresistible to ignore so many dishes.

The trio has lost their sense of time and urgency during hours upon hours of feasting. The plates always seem to be self replenishing . This banquet is truly endless...

That was until the light elf has snapped out of it when she accidently knocked her cup. As it turns out, this feast consists of bloated corpses covered in the same inky substance covering the statue, none has noticed the wiggling maggots inside the rotten flesh of their meals.

Hul's aspect doesn't care even after finding out. It is a hard learned lesson to be sure. They can vomit as much as they like.... the taste and the sensation will never be truly washed away.

A Bloody Bounty

It seems the party has found themselves in a twisted field engorged with bulbous vines and blooming flowers made out of flesh. A living plant spanning over a whole field isn't that absurd compared to what they have encountered so far.

The plant acknowledges their presence by lifting most of its vines away , revealing a wicked garden of sorts. Said garden has dozens of living saplings growing from lobbed off beastly heads. No words are needed to understand that this giant plant wishes for the precious trophies collected by the party throughout their trek in this realm. They will be used as bed seeds for its offsprings.

The shield maiden has a pressing urge to attack, however, the rotten feast has dulled her senses... the glowing core of this docile creature may be its weak point assuming she will mount an unfavorable assault against it.

If that isn't enough, the Celestial Hawk has decided to finish off the shambling remains of the shrieking plant with a whirlwind of dagger-like feather. Utter decimation....

Star of Ruin

It is an onslaught which has left the shield maiden in utter disarray... the final screams of the light elf will haunt her forever and ever. She is weak, unable to protect herself and other around her. The shadow of self doubt follows her with each step sneering at every misjudgement and mistake.

The human finds herself not among the red-hued trees and flesh-like soil but rather the very stars silently watching and judging her in a shallow lake reflecting their gazes upon her.

There is a certain.... desire amongst the celestial beings. In such convoluted place and time, the barrier between their world and hers is non exist. They wish to burn thier burning light in her fragile flesh. Even the very gods wish for a prodigy of their own. I know that all too well ..

Yet, what they fail to understand is that mortals are hardly compatible with their gifts. They may go insane or perish in such flash of cosmic brilliance. Then again, what other choices does she have at a moment? I can not envy her in such a desperate situation.

With her limited knowledge , Seinri stares at each one of them silently listening to their outlandish voices.

The star of the North burns the brightest in the skies, it is young and arrogant full of life. Its burning light will surely invigorate her in one way or another.

The star of the South isn't as bright as its other celestial kin. Its mesmerising light is almost irresistible with a flock of lesser beings behind its trail.

The Star of the west is a lonesome one, barely visible in the skies, Its flickering light offer subtle guidance intertwining with the fates of all.

The star of the East.... no longer shines. The oldest of them all is but a dead floating carcass. This sad state doesn't portray its power.

An Elusive Trail

The human is no hunter or tracker but even she notices the Elusive trail of a four legged Majestic beast roaming these lands... the ultimate prize that will surely dwarf any trophy collected throughout this trek.

" Hooves dipped in gold? " The shield maiden asks herself as the track shimmers under the moonlight. The beast isn't of your average stock for it knows very well how to confuse its many, many pursuers leaving tracks in very single conceivable spot. Furthermore, The beast has left many illusions idling about to further puzzle the deranged hunters after it. An impossible task or one that requires patience?

Even the Sunscorched Eye is puzzled by so such facade. It will be of little help to the human. If that isn't enough, the tracks are brimming with certain dark powers, ones that will corrupt the mind and the body.

> The human ignores this foolish chase, she yearns to escape from this dreadful place.
> Seinri knows her limits, still, She decides to track down these ghastly figure to hone her skills ( easy)
> Rather than tracking down said beast, the human focuses on scavenging anything of worth from its dead pursuers ( easy)
> Corruption be damned! She WILL hunt down the beast for a sense of accomplishment ( hard)

+10 Corruption
Seinri 33/40

Through sheer grit and determination, the human manages to outsmart her prey slowly funnelling herself into the right set of tracks which has led her to a rather peaceful grotto where the beast is waiting for her.

A Golden Elk with silver horns and most lavish fur is actually.... dead. For decades if not centuries, it has spent all of its energy making false images of itself and corrupting every step it takes in fear of its life. It is rather a pitiful and anticlimactic end for such a beast.

The shield maiden hesitates to disturb its eternal slumber but she is in dire need for any hint of accomplishment even it is as hollow as this one.... pilfering the dead is a far cry from glorious battles and the like.

The twisted heart has graced the human with the power to leave this accursed place... if that is her wish.

The Mighty and The Shrewd

" There you are...." a distorted voice stops the human right in her tracks, she spots a golem made out of bones and a pulsating blue orb burrowed deep inside of it.

" I will have that head lathe in gold... and yours as well. One more for the collection..."

Unbeknownst to the shield maiden, the Majestic beast has greatly limited the powers of the golem and the evil spirit within it once upon a time. Even as a mere head, Its powers is still in full effect.

A successful riposte has sent bones flying as her resolve remains unshattered. The shield maiden is surprised to see some of the broken and discarded bone shard silently following their master during the fight. They don't reattach for the time being but that doesn't mean they are void of underhanded tricks. She must be cautious.

Third roll.

I have some thoughts in regards to the one shot, but I'll wait to the right time to express them and so they have some time to percolate.

I will say that I feel like there wasn't a ton of choices throughout the quest and that the choices weren't super interesting this time around. We spend most of our time in combat yet not only is combat overly long in regards to how long it takes to resolve but there is minimal choice involved in it, which again, sucks because we spend most of our time in it. Combat taking a long time is fine if it is interesting but it isn't. I'd have liked it more if more digital ink was spilled on the world-building - since I liked what little of it there was - or if there was banter between party members, it wouldn't have helped the mechanical situation but it would keep interest up.

I just realised that we are at page ten. My initial plans for the quest was a one shot divided by three acts but those two weeks disturbed my plan. Sooo what do you want me to do?

We will finish this act regardless of your choices. Pretty sure we can finish act two and three in a second thread but making a new thread kind of defeats the purpose of a one shot, I think. I have no problem running with only two players , you anons are engaging with me which I like so I will leave it up to you. Should I wrap this first act and maybe start another one shot or should I make it a two shot instead?
>>
>>5351878
That's what we get with more gameplay focused quest. Compare it my previous quest(s) which was lengthier in posts and had some resemblance of world building that is why I am usually allergic to rolls preferring a more narrative experience instead of lady luck. I am aware that is kind of quest isn't everyone's cup of tea ( probably not yours to some extent) but I like to add some variety in my quests.

If I only had more time, I would have fleshed this quest out a bit more. Still, I tried something new with the whole third( second? ) point of view with the narrator being the entity that drove the party to journey forth to the heart.
>>
>>5351883
>>5351897
I don't prefer half-measures. I would want to have this finished out in another thread and doing so would give you a chance to refine combat in future quests. I have been enjoying myself immensely, given the nature of the quest, and if you chose to do a different one-shot, I would be fine with that as well, though it is ultimately up to you.
Even a post write-up or cliffhanger for a future thread would be nice as well.
>>
>>5351883
I'm fine with continuing or not, either is fine. The idea of a one-shot is kinda moot when we aren't playing in sessions in person. It sort of made sense back with how things used to be on /tg/ or when we get the rare QM who runs live sessions with frequent updates all day, but with the month long threads and the typical 1-2 updates a day schedule that most QMs use nowadays even "one-shots" feel more like extended ultra-slow sessions or whole short quests with little content but intense, brief bouts of discussion - at least for active quests - or something like that. Basically I mean it doesn't feel like a RL one-shot, with the way /qst/ works a one-shot or two-shot is a whole month or two of updates which is enough for a whole arc to occur in a regular quest, may as well go until it is finished. This would be more like an ultra short quest than what we would've originally understood as one-shots.

>>5351897
I mean...I don't think have dice rolls or more 'gameplay' is contradictory with being mostly narrative, I'd say most quests have a mix and do just fine. I just don't think this one is that well done this time around. I like some of your other ones which I also typically think of as very "gamey" - more so than most - despite having more story to them. At least for the ones I've played, they tend to focus around a specific concept and central gameplay loop, from what I've seen you rarely are just a character playing in a sandbox with a plothook that leads to the end of the story for when people want the quest to end in your quests.

More and more of the Malicious Spirit is the visible with each hack and thrust, It burns with pure hatred for the fallen Elk. The lumbering strikes are easy to dodge for the time being. This can change very swiftly, the shield maiden reminds herself. She is no position to trade blows with that goliath. Focus.

" It seems that I have underestimated your prowess, Human." The golem stops pounding the ground while trying to crush her " Will you have what it takes to fulfill your destiny?"

" I will not fall prey to your vile tricks!" Although She was exhausted, The shield maiden refuses to relax especially when she is that close to achieve her victory.

" You can keep your head and bones. I only wish to take that precious head. What use do you have for it? You missed your sole opportunity to have an audience with she who watches. Give it to me and I will..."

The trail of bones behind the spirit suddenly begins to form incomplete skeletal figures, misshapen and twisted just like their creator.

" Two shall follow you till the end of times. They will blindly obey you. A fair bargain, don't you think? "

" I am inclined not believe you." The human spits blood on the ground " You could have used them on me during our clash."

" You are mistaken, they will only follow those with an untainted soul so they are useless to me. Allow me to demonstrate."

The spirit has reanimated a Two headed skeleton which immediately attacks its creator, another skeleton.... same result.

" I will fashion them in your image. You only need to part with what I seek."

Seinri 26/30 HP

Whether it is sincere or not, Seinri doesn't take the risk opting for a surprise attack instead followed by a woeful stab right into the spirit's core which manges to banish it right away.

Alone and exhausted , the human collapses on her knees momentarily only to regain her strength a few minutes late. She deserves some respite after all she has been through. This tree shall be good enough for a shut-eye.

I feel like for this quest and the similarly-done Dragon's Dungeon, I am a bit put off by the combat, heavy, short-post format. It can make it hard to parse QM posts from the players', and when there aren't major choices being made nor character development for long stretches, it can feel a little lackluster. Graphics might help.

Just my two cents as an anon who played initially and drifted off.
