Glory to the Second Primarch, Arch Dominus of Lucius and Leader of the Reconquista Fleet! After traveling through the void to tens of other Forge Worlds the Primarch has gathered underneath him a fleet only comparable to that of the Emperor’s own. Today he sets foot upon the most Holy World of Mars, tomorrow he moves towards the devastation of the Mitu Collective.

The bridge was silent as they all looked upon the Red Planet. It was a simple feeling that went through everyone in that they realized the significance of this moment. It did not matter from where in the galaxy that the current members of the Crew were from; they all held value in the existence of the planet.

Arch Dominus TalOS, Primarch of the Second Legion, felt the same thing as everyone else. While stepping on Terra was indeed a step in his spiritual journey TalOS was now reaching the end of his pilgrimage. Before TalOS might have questioned using that term for his journey across the Galaxy he did not. Not when he stood before such magnificence.

+We have reached it, my people.+ TalOS declared as he looked upon the planet with a firmness in his chest, +We stand before Mars.+

Within seconds of that declaration the Bridge began to erupt with cries and declarations. Many thanked the Machine God, Omnissiah, or Machine Spirit for giving them the chance to even exist within the Orbit of Mars. A religious elation of happiness gripped them upon the announcement.

For a moment, TalOS could even feel the Machine Spirit of Particep Semper join in the celebration. So far away but the Spirit still celebrated TalOS’s arrival to the home of the Machine Cult.

Finally TalOS broke the trance that was placed on him upon entering the planet’s orbit. His mind began to rationalize the process of the circumstances that they were in.

As the Flagship of the Reconquista TalOS easily gained the right to orbit in an optimal atmosphere. The Martians seemed ecstatic when they received his contact and placed him in this region but nothing else has yet reached their ship.

TalOS could touch down upon the planet without care. Have a situation completely under his control. But at the end of the day Mars was still a place that he needed to respect.

So for one hour TalOS waited as the Martians prepared what TalOS was assuming to be their welcome.

+Arch Dominus.+ Declared the Communications Magos as an hour had been reached, +I have a communicae from Mars. It is the Fabricator General of Mars, Kelbor Hal.+

TalOS turned towards the Magos and began thinking. Indeed the amount of time they had wasted was indeed immense. The Fabricator General personally talking to TalOS was something the Primarch realized was the reason it took so long.

+Place him over to me.+ Declared the Primarch as he looked back towards Mars.

+Understood Arch Dominus.+ The Magos declared as TalOS heard a ting going through his mind.

+Arch Dominus TalOS DAV1S of Lucius, I welcome you to Mars.+ Were the first words of the Fabricator General spoke to TalOS, +The fleet you have brought with you is immense and from all parts of the Mechanicum. It is humbling to see the full might of the Machine God brought about to destroy his enemies.+

+It is a honor to hear from you directly, Fabricator General.+ TalOS declared while making a mock bow that the man would not see, +It is the providence of the Machine God that granted me even the ability to build a fleet that is before us today.+

+The Machine God truly does value you, Arch Dominus TalOS. I hereby invite you directly to my Manufactorum Arch Dominus so that we may discuss matters before your welcoming to the greater part of Mars.+

+Who will be in attendance?+ The Arch Dominus asked the most powerful person of the Mechanicum.

+It will be myself and the Fabricator Locum. If you wish to bring one other with you for our discussion than I am welcome to it. My plan is to grant the Son of the Omnissiah the welcome that he deserves.+

That was not the true purpose and TalOS knew it. He also was not ignorant that a great many high ranking Magos had been tapping the line from both sides of their fleet. The Fabricator General wished to talk to the Primarch directly, likely to solidify the message and settle down the troubles that Lucius taking in Xana would have caused.

>TalOS shall take the Fabricator General’s offer
>Visit the Fabricator General without the Pendant so TalOS can exercise all of his will.
>The Primarch will drop directly upon Mars.
>Go onto the planet, without the Blackstone pendant so that TalOS can use the aura of a Primarch.

Before anyone complains Kelbor Hal is not the Fabricator General at this point he is one. In Mechanicum he and the Emperor, during the Emperor's first arrival on the red planet, Kelbor Hal joined the Master of Mankind in finding the Vaults of Moravec. This was also the day the Fabricator General became disenfranchised to the Emperor.

>TalOS shall take the Fabricator General’s offer
Kelbor Hal in canon was not deceived by the Emperor's psychic tricks. I do not believe that he would be deceived by Talos doing the same.

And I think Talos would want to try and apply his actual wit and intellect to convincing a fellow Magos, especially the Fabricator General, without any psychic ability.

More the so, I think he will just have faith that in all things, he is the planet of his God. And He will intervene on his behalf.

we didn't call it trickery all we said was.
"“Creator.” TalOS barely got those words out, “May I ask that you weaken your psychic aura. It is blinding and will injure my work.”"

My hope out of all of this is we can somehow steer Kelbor Hal away from the future of going to Chaos and, more importantly, not betraying the Imperium and us. He seemed to like Horus promise of STCs. Surely we can provide the STCs too. He is an ambitious and competent man, and we could use loyal ambitious competent men.

Failing that, plan B would be to work on the most efficient and least destructive way to remove him.

Him being smart, he knows we are gunning for his position one way or another, so he will probably attempt to both garner information and make his own proposition in private. Let us see what he is going to offer.

Hopefully we can somehow convince many elements that otherwise would have gone for Chaos to going for sweet juicy Necron research. Far more in tune with the teachings of our God. They would go a long way to fighting those elements we cannot steer away from the Dark Mechanicum.

Something else to consider, Horus was Here first.

He's had at least some years, perhaps decades, to gain favorable relations with Kelbor, ensuring the supplies to the Luna Wolves in exchange for whatever his legion could provide.

Horus is, most likely, a better diplomat than we. Our advantage will therefore be reliant that we are a member of the Cult Mechanicus where Horus is not, and crucially the actual divine support of our Machine God. Even supposing we are somehow lucky to pull Kelbor to our side over anyone else's, Horus agents will know.

On the flip side, we should start scattering agents and spies of our own so that we can get out foot in the information door. I believe in the realm of cyber-espionage, information gathering and prying information, perhaps our ability to provide superior technology could give the advantage over Horus chosen spies. At least until Horus finds Alpharius. Especially if we work with Malcador and help him establish the Vanus assassins.

I wonder what it would take to get Alpharius on the loyalist side. . .we obviously will one of the few brothers who has no qualms against trickery and deceit and would consider it a valid tool, in contrast to Russ, Dorn and Guilliman.

Even supposing somehow, and we would need NIGH short of the explicit intervention of our Machine God in the utmost level (i.e. either the Void Dragon deletes all records and camera feeds of such an act or makes every machine on Mars say "oh no the Fabricator General has suffered an accident, all hail Talos), somehow we did that the sheer reverberations across the entire Mechanicum would be potentially devastating.

Nothing short of an explicit revelation of him performing some evil wicked Tech Heresy of the highest order could justify that. And even if we did I'm not sure how trustful others would be of us.

It's a very extreme option with many potential cons and unknowns, which I'd put on the far end of our list alongside invading Mars herself. But it is an option

>>TalOS shall take the Fabricator General’s offer

>>5286285
Fair point, but afaik, Hal hasn't turned yet, nor has Horus even met Lorgar or Erebus. At this point Baldy's just a highly valued client of Mars who brings back STC data from his conquests in exchange for priority resupply and shiny mastercrafted wargear by the freighterload. Sorta like an outsourced explorator fleet but bigger and shootier. We're the vested representative of a major militant branch of Kelbor Hal's own church-guild-robofraternity with interplanetary holdings and our own divergent STC database who can speak binaric with him and offer far more resources and tech, as well as a backdoor to rapprochement with the Imperials without being seen to bend the knee and weaken his position among the magi. Let's cast our net of spies around Mars for sure, but I think we can gain a lot of traction here with diplomacy. (and the Void Dragon's continuing favor)
>>
>>5286302
That would be metagaming, completely out of character, and also retarded.
>>
>>5286374
It's more the notion of somehow steering him away such that if he is still present and fabricator general by the heresy, he will at least stay loyal.

That is, of course, if we want to keep Kelbor. I kind of want Talos to be the new Fabricator General, but I cannot envision many situations where Kelbor would be keen on giving up his lofty position without some serious convincing via directly appealing to his sense of faith via intervention of our God. Taking it by diplomatic, political or religious pressure would just leave the problem of an even angrier Kelbor against us.

Ideally we'd convince him we are the true conduit of the Machine God and appeal to his true belief, so that the transition of power comes willingly and with good faith. But if we can't get that we'll need to consider that keeping him around and opposed to us is a very big liability we could try to deal with. Ideally by something a lot more subtle than just killing and burying him. Talos might have the capability to arrange an accident perhaps, but even if he were that paranoid in character I can't imagine he'd be happy about it either. Kelbor has so far done no wrong. Even the sins of arrogant Mars can't entirely be to blame on him perhaps, if he had done all he could as a man where as we are a Primarch and can of course do better.
>>
Lorgar had it easy
When he arrived at Varadesh, the locals just killed the ecclesiarch and made him the new one on the spot.
>>
>>5286285
If Talos applies himself to spycraft he's already a step ahead. Primarchs are good, but they aren't that good. They can fooled and some just don't care for spies. Perturabo was shocked by the betrayal of the Olympians, he was emotionally stubborn to demand loyalty from planet he bled dry and did not care to put spies to keep tabs on them. Lion let Caliban and his most trusted lieutenant turn against him, because he kept ignoring them. Khan had basically no spies so was left in the dark once the heresy hit.
>>

You forgot to add the fact that we have a backdoor into the other legions via the Mechanicus.

The vessel that carried them through the air was not one meant for the transport of diplomats. It did not have upon it things like windows to allow those riding to see the outside. For TalOS the best he could do was occasionally take glimpses out through the numerous ocular systems that were placed about the shuttle. In the end he did not feel anything nearly as close as he wished he could.

Instead he opted to pray and wait just as his apprentice was.

Planetfall took half an hour for the two in prayer. The two of them rose with UZ1 quickly placing herself behind TalOS just as they always do in instances like this. TalOS sent a simple signal through the Noospheric network that was responded with an affirmation by the Apprentice who was behind him.

With them both ready TalOS sent a message to the Adept who operated the machine and the tailgate slowly began to lower itself before them.

The first thing to hit TalOS was not the martian wind but the sheer amount of vox waves being transmitted through the air. So much information was being sent through the air that TalOS easily tapped into it and found the numerous blessed chatrooms. It reminded him of Lucius, as even with all this information being shared there was not a single audible sound as he stepped out.

The next thing the Primarch felt was the radiation and sand pelting itself against his skin. The Arch Dominus recognized it as exactly as the datafiles described it. It was somehow a soothing presence knowing that he had indeed arrived at the blessed planet of the Mechanicus.

Finally TalOS paid attention to those before him. Both were rather small figures compared to him with one of them sporting a three ocular system. Tapping into the datasphere being created the Primarch quickly realized who it was before him.

Just as tradition dictates the Primarch kneeled, +I am Arch Dominus TalOS DAV1S of Lucius. I hereby express my thanks for being given the honor of landing upon the Red Planet of Mars, Fabricator General Kelbor Hal.+

A single tick of thought went by, +I welcome you to the home of all Tech Priests, Arch Dominus TalOS of Lucius. If you will follow me we will talk about your arrival.+

As TalOS rose he could not help but feel something was off there. That single beat of misspoken surely would not have raised any concerns if it was normal conversation but surely the Fabricator General was expecting his arrival and planned it out. Whatever TalOS just did, it tripped up the Fabricator General.

The quality of the Manufactorium was something that TalOS could not even come close to denying. The elegance and power that was placed into the construction of the place was evident as he noticed every piece of framework held some form of artisanship.

The four of them, without any others with them, stepped into an elevator that quickly began picking them up into one of the few spires that overlooked the planet. None spoke as TalOS steadily felt the Infosphere become less and less as they went up.

It seemed this was to be a secured meeting between them all.

Finally the elevator stopped and the four stepped out into a rather homey chamber. TalOS noticed the variety of chairs, sofas, and windows that looked down on the planet itself. The chamber was obviously meant to receive people from the Imperium.

The Priests did not bother with the furnishing, but they did approach the windows so that they could gaze out onto Mars.

+Arch Dominus, it is a pleasure to have you upon Mars. Not only have you, a child of the Omnissiah, come yourself but you bring a warfleet that equals few exhibitionary forces belonging to the Imperium.+ The Fabricator General dictated as he gave a show of his hand, +The one standing next to me if Fabricator Locum Louis Karbringer.+

+Even I myself have yet to speak to a child of the Omnissiah.+ Declared the Fabricator Locum while giving a courteous bow, +It is my honor to be within your precense.+

+And we both reflect that to yourselves.+ TalOS declared as he gave a show of a hand to his right, +This is Adept UZ1, my apprentice and fellow for this meeting.+

+Thank you both for allowing me to attend.+ Declared the Adept while she too gave a bow.

The Fabricator General sent a direct communication to his fellow through what TalOS realized to be a beam based data transfer. Very costly, but it limited the ability for someone like TalOS or UZ1 to tap into their communications for this meeting. TalOS could not fault them for using it though as he and UZ1 had the Noosphere to keep their discussions hidden from these two.

Such were tools for the art of diplomacy. The two seemed to be prepared for a battle as TalOS and UZ1. A simple fact that both sides needed to be careful, for no one wants something to go down with an over hundred ship fleet hanging in high orbit.

+If you do not mind me asking, Arch Dominus.+ The Fabricator General of Mars began as his oculars narrowed upon TalOS, +You do not feel like your Father.+

The Primarch gave a simple nod to that question, +That is because I am employing a nullification metal known as Blackstone. I use it for my own safety and a side effect is that it reduces my psychic presence. I feel to remove it now would be a futile and charlatious act.+

+You deny yourself the use of your own tools?+

TalOS gave a simple nod to those words, +The Warp is our enemy Kelbor Hal. To use it, even passively, does not set right with my faith in the Machine God.+

The two Tech Priests quickly shared communications between one another. TalOS could only get spare traces of the conversation as they refracted off the sensory equipment towards him but the feelings of confusion and even agreement revirderated between them.

+That is an understandable assessment, Arch Dominus. From the records we hold respective to Lucius you have committed Xenocide against one race while fighting another. Both held powers in the Warp.+ The Fabricator Locum declared while giving a subtle mecahnrite to point towards where Terra was, +We have witness bits and pieces of such terror upon the cradle of man during our exhibtions.+

+And those are the reasons why I do not employ such methods, even if I was built for it by my Creator. We, the Priests of the Machine God, do not employ esoteric arts but the might of the Machine God through the Motive Force to crush our enemies.+

+Ah, I have heard such lines from the Electro-Priests.+ Pointed out the Fabricator Locum, +Have you been studying their arts?+

+I have as of recently.+ TalOS told the two as he gave an opening of the arms in welcome, +I have received… an inspiration from the Machine God itself. Though I have yet to fully understand what they mean, but their secrets into the Motive Force are insightful.+

+They are, they are.+ The Locum said as he gave a simple singal of understanding.

+If you may, Arch Dominus.+ The Fabricator General began as his voice began to narrow, +May you illuminate us of another piece of thought? Your meeting with the Omnissiah, what happened?+

I would hear what Kelbor Hal has to say, and it would be good if Kelbor Hal hears what we have to say. It is likely, we both agree the Emperor is not the Omnissiah.

I would hope Talos would say "Not the Omnissiah through being a Psyker" rather than because he is a Psyker. OOC Talos can show he is the Omnissiah through his works of the true miracle of the Machine God, but he shouldn't invalidate himself simply because he was born a psyker.

It might be a moot point if we go full on Blank, or perhaps through becoming a Blank we shed our Psykerness and thus become truly qualified.

He helped build the Abyss class ships in secret.

I want Talos to be able to get an Abyss class ship as his flagship for travel.

I think it's okay for Talos to have it that way, because our 19 other brothers have to share the resources given unto them by the Imperium. Where as we are the representative of the Admech, and thus having a ship of similar scale to the Imperator Somnium is permissible. Or at least that's the excuse Talos will give
>>
>>5286782
I suppose my question is chicken or the egg. Did Horus and Lorgar introduce the idea of Chaos to Kelbor and thus convince him to form the Dark Mechanicum to the ruinous powers, where otherwise they would have simply been separatists.

Or was the pull towards the dark powers present there even without the influence of Horus.

Being a separatist and being a chaos cultist are not the same thing. But I would so like Talos to be able to convince Kelbor away from that by having a true omnissiah rather than a fake one.

There is nothing but the truth, bare. The other two options are full off... emotions. I do not like the idea of basing our reply through passions instead of certain communication. Yes, the second primarch IS a passionate man, even more than his brothers, but this topic is not something that has to be discussed without the aid of numerous machie spirits

Our secondary flagship then.

We don't seem to travel around in it all that much is the thing, just the Onus Probandi which is neither an Ark Mechanicus nor a Gloriana. Just like I don't imagine Dorn flew everywhere with the Phalanx even if it was his legions "flagship". He had his own gloriana too, the Eternal Crusader.

>>5287020
I have dreams of cobbling it together from or around an existing Ark Mechanicus. So in a perfect world, it's name would be Speranza
>>
Specifically I was a bit disappointed to hear that we didn't go about recruiting on Lucian crusade on our Blackstone Fortress but "a fleet of cruisers instead" which leads me to believe the Blackstone Fortress is more important as a defensive installation in the Mitu War where a Primarch still needs to be able to travel even during a conflict.

And cruisers are hardly the best we can do. They're not even battleships.

Dorn and Guilliman both had big giant fuckoff fortresses, the Phalanx and the Galatan respectively, but they also had secondary flagships for travel, the Eternal Crusader and the Macragge's Honour. I imagine on numerous occasions the Eternal Crusader might have been parked inside the Phalanx or the Macragge's Honour inside Galatan when the need arose or for repairs.

Could Talos follow a similar model? The Fortress for defense and big battle operations, a Gloriana for travel and diplomacy?

That should be fair if QM will permit it. We wouldn't be the only brother with both a massive fortress and a massive ship. Talos himself would want to feel safer in a much bigger ship when he has to be outside the Blackstone Fortress. When entering Xana last thread he felt unsafe without the null field of the Blackstone Fortress, but a large battleship could one day be able to hold its own null charge with technomancy applied.
It would also just be against tradition for Talos not to have a Gloriana-Battleship equivalent like the rest of his brothers. And that's one tradition we shouldn't break with.
>>
After the Heresy, Magnus converted the pyramid of Tizca into a mobile fortress and kept the Photep. Alpharius even got 2 Glorianas, Alpha and Beta. Lorgar didnt commission one but three abyss class ships.

Probably the only primarch who wouldn't care to have both a fortress and a battleship would be Khan because a fortress would be too slow for him.

I'm 110% positive with Talos personality he'd want to have both, but he still has to get around to pimping out the Blackstone-Fortress to admech perfection first.

We also need to get around to naming it. Maybe we can christen it after the war.

Cruisers are Battleships. A basic medium size ship meant for ship to ship combat is the Cruiser.

>A large battleship could one day be able to hold its own null charge with technomancy applied.
Screw the geller field, this ship will have a null field so dense it will travel throught the warp RAVING at the demons, not the other way around.
Of course, the psyk candle would be a problem... and the navigator in two hells at once (null field and warp) sounds like a bad trip, poor sod.

I vote that we call our blackstone fortress, the "Invisible Hand", for it shall be the tool through which, the all encompassing and unseeable hand of the Mahine God shall affect the world.

Well, it is either that or "Deorum ex Machina", which translates to "machine of the gods" (a small nod to the Old Ones)
>>

Ah! So when you say "A fleet of cruisers" you do mean to say they also have battleships.

Sorry, was a bit confused since 40k has a distinction between Battleships and Cruisers
https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Battleship
https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Cruiser

Battleship in this case are very large capital ships, like Emperor Class or Retribution Class etc. I think you mention you've played BFG2 so that game shows the distinction in 40k there too.

I still kinda want a Gloriana (or similar size) to fit in with the others. Combining it with an Ark Mechanicus like the unfinished Speranza would be the ultimate cherry on top. But as long as we have and can travel on the Blackstone fortress more when we return I think it should be fine.

Can we just say/imagine that the Onus Probandi is already about as big as a Gloriana? We were born on a Forge World.
>>
IIRC both in 40k and IRL the general size classification goes from smaller to larger

-Fighter/Gunship
-Escort
-Frigate
-Destroyer
-Cruiser
-Battleship/Carrier

With more specialty classes like Glorianas, Abyss, Imperator Somnium being a step further but also often being classified as "Battleships"

and I looked up at wiki-wand and it says

>Modern warships are generally divided into seven main categories, which are: aircraft carriers, cruisers,[a] destroyers, frigates, corvettes, submarines and amphibious assault ships. Battleships comprise an eighth category, but are not in current service with any navy in the world.

>The destroyer is generally regarded as the dominant surface-combat vessel of most modern blue-water navies. However, the once distinct roles and appearances of cruisers, destroyers, frigates, and corvettes have blurred. Most vessels have come to be armed with a mix of anti-surface, anti-submarine and anti-aircraft weapons. Class designations no longer reliably indicate a displacement hierarchy, and the size of all vessel types has grown beyond the definitions used earlier in the 20th century. Another key differentiation between older and modern vessels is that all modern warships are "soft", without the thick armor and bulging anti-torpedo protection of World War II and older designs

>Most navies also include many types of support and auxiliary vessels, such as minesweepers, patrol boats and offshore patrol vessels.

And with how loose the definitions and dimenions are, I have no clue now damn it!!! but I looked it up on the https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Imperial_Navy#Vessels_of_the_Imperial_Navy and there is this nice chart to compare... the ships you are talking about are larger than the Retribution Class battleship depicted?
>>
>>5287305
And the lion got 3.
>>
>>5287313
Does that mean you would consider Gloriana's and other Imperial classification "Battleships" to be medium ships while fortresses would be considered large ships?
>>
>>5287348
Don't bellyache. Cruisers are the backbone of most navies.
>>
>>5287432
Is that true of 40k navies too?

Eitherway, it's cool. As long as the Onus Probandi doesn't do us shame when parked next to the Invincible Reason or the Macragge's Honour I'm okay if you want to classify such ships as cruisers. It's just a different naming convention than what I'm used to but it works.

Onus Probandi is a great name by the way, it means "Burden of Proof".

The same logic will likely apply to the other Primarch fleets so their mainstay ships are cruisers too.

We dont have to be concerned that we're using smaller or inferior ships to our brothers. Talos wouldn't abide that.

If he becomes Fabricator General or gains the loyalty of Kelbor Hal, Horus will have to approach him to commission the Abyss cruisers. We can just set it up so we steal it from the traitors rather than let Lorgar gain them. Because screw Lorgar

Technically, this is true.

The Spirit of Eternity was small, sleek, elegant. And absolutely demolished the larger clunkier admech ships it encountered. I imagine other such DAoT ships were of a similar quality.

Rediscovering even a fraction of lost Federation ship technology could be worth any number of large ships of modern Imperial design. Who cares if you're the smaller ship if your armor, shields and weaponry are of such ungodly potency of human design.

This is also the reason why modern navies have dispensed with battleships in favor of cruisers. Modern cruisers are faster, more fuel and manpower efficient, their missiles out-range battleship cannons and carry more payload while taking up less space and while firing faster, and they have superior guidance systems. If you added proper anti-ship missiles, a modern cruiser would demolish a battleship with impunity at range despite being much smaller. This isn't even factoring superior shield technology which is independent of size. I can see Talos wanting to follow a similar doctrine of technological superiority over just having bigger ships.

Not bad. Though that paints us as more a legion that emphasizes genetics when we're more into augmetics. It also doesn't roll off the tongue as well as the others. "The Double Helixes" like "Imperial Fists" or "Blood Angels" We need a name that encapsulates what our legion does and what we are.

And what is an Acillian? Well, in my own opinion, we are guardians. We watch over the Machine Spirits, and the Souls of Men from the perils of the warp. We safeguard the supply lines, the ammunition, the war machines, the factories. Our Techmarines will be prized among all others.

How about "The Watchmen" or some variation thereof?
Both a play on the fact that we are servants of the great cogs of the Machine God's device, and also emphasizing our role as protectors. Plus it will have more meaning when we invest heavily into Chronomancy and when we incorporate many different kinds of auxilia and cyberneticae. A fine machine is comprised of many cogs and gears working in tandem.

Alternative ideas (trying to come up with a simple name that someone who hasn't heard 40k might at least have a vague idea of what they do):
-Sons of Talos
-Marines Mechanicus
-Red Paladins / Crimson Paladins
-Lords of Technology / Lords of Steel / Techlords / Technomancers
-Omniscions
-Techseekers / Tech Guard / Tech "X"
-The Solar Atomisers / Atomantic Guard /
-Sons of the Dragon / Dragonborn / Dragonscaled / etc.
-Promethean Flames
-Adamantine Guard

- Steel Legion (not sure if that one is already taken)

TalOS wondered to himself for a moment as he weighed his options. Surely the Fabricator General had heard of his assessment of what he said. So that can only mean he was looking for meaning within the words of TalOS. To comprehend his thinking.

But TalOS himself did not know if that was smart. While the planet of Mars believed in the Omnissiah this man that stood before TalOS did indeed attack the Emperor during the Unification Wars.

+On the Planet of Lucius, as we were so far away from Mars, we lost interest in the title of Omnissiah.+ TalOS began his thoughts with placing out a bit of history, +The Prophecy talking of the third member of a Holy Trinity became disenfranchised for Lucius did not have a stake in it. That a man would arrive on Mars and cause the first rain as well as repair machines. What did that mean for Lucius who was divorced from Mars for thousands of years.+

+It would mean little.+ The Fabricator said outright with an insight TalOS expected.

+That is how things began from my understanding. Though that does not mean the title of Omnissiah is powerless. It is evident that they are meant to be a unifier, a political title, to bestow upon the person who unified the Mechanicum. But that is how I see it.+ TalOS gave a mechanical shrug of the shoulders.

+It is indeed the truth that the Omnissiah has not unified the Mechanicum.+ The Fabricator General declared as he looked out the window, +He has… simply given us the ability to do so ourselves.+

+Does he care for our cult?+ TalOS asked outright, +Or does he not place value in the title given to him.+

+Not as much as we do.+ The Tech Priest admitted as he shook his head, +On Terra there was a great conqueror, one during the time that the Machine God’s presence only grazed its surface. He was named a Son of a God, but he wore it like a title of honor instead of the reverence it was worth.+

+Upon the name of the Machine God, I do not see the Emperor as the Omnissiah.+ TalOS declared outright as he gave the sign of the cog, +What of yourself.+

+While everything we have said is correct there are still things that place value in him holding the title. His mind is something we can hardly fathom and he did indeed bring rain to Mars.+ The Fabricator General shook his head as he thought about it more, +But he does not trust us and does not value tradition. Even our faith is something that I feel he will squeeze as the eras turn towards the next.+

+You speak of the Imperial Truth?+

+Indeed.+ The Fabricator General sent TalOS a data package with a large amount of data within it, +The Imperial Truth does not reflect the truth of the universe. It is a completely different reality that it is trying to prove. I see this from the top and I cannot fathom how so many of our own people don’t even question his existence as the Omnissiah.+

+Yet he is still a symbol of what the Machine God desires of mankind.+

+You see the paradox we of Mars deal with. Having a Prophet who does not preach your faith yet is the living embodiment of it.+ Kelbor Hal gave with a good dose of annoyance.

+What of the wars we fought against him?+

+We miscalculated. We were not aware of his powers and ability until it was too late. Before then there was no agreement between us so we had to make sure Terra was still available for extraction.+

+Why did we attempt to forsake Terra?+ TalOS fired off as he felt they were coming to an issue.

+For it was not worth saving. The Terra you see today was not the one present fifty years ago.+ The Fabricator General sent TalOS a parcel of information that had coordinates within it, +You can judge the station yourself if you so wish. Fifty years ago Terra was filled with despots and psykers who committed atrocities of the greatest scale. It was far more economical to send out the Ark Mechanicus into space than it was to take over a planet that had rejected our kind for thousands of years. As for the Emperor, we were incorrect in our assessment in both his disposition towards us and his intent.+

+For he propagated the Imperial Truth and was a psyker.+

+War had a 99.9% chance of breaking out.+ Kelbor Hal placed a hand on his chest as if deep in thought, +When I felt the rain upon my Mechanrites and watched as Titans were healed, the Omnissiah arrived. War, a life or death struggle between Pegan Atheists and True Believers, was averted.+

+A Miracle worthy of the title Omnissiah.+

Thus the truth of the matter was ascertained. Indeed the Emperor stepped and grinded many traditions of the Mechanicus. He does indeed preach falsehoods. But neither side wished for war and the Emperor was able to see the value in a unified front.

Thus the title of Omnissiah was given. To make a miracle of peace between two empires.

+Thank you, Arch Dominus.+ The Fabricator Locum declared as he gave a short bow, +We of Mars now fully understand your position, and that you understand ours.+

+I do apologize if I caused mishap with my declarations upon Lucius.+ TalOS declared as he gave an apologetic bow, +It is only due to our seperation of the time that it did not result in a war between our sides.+

+It does not matter as long as we maintain the peace.+ The Fabricator General looked up into the sky, +That we were even able to gather this many craft is extraordinary to not spark war. There have been no complaints from the Regent of Terra so we will move on.+

+The next matter, Arch Dominus, will be Xana.+ The Fabricator Locum pointed out as he sent a data package, +Magos Margin has accused you are fillandering with Hereteks.+

TalOS took a moment to review the document given to him. The details the Primarch would admit were truth in the majority of matters and where there were problems the Primarch noticed the Magos did not have all the information.

+You have claimed a planet of the Mechanicum for Lucius directly.+ The Fabricator General first pointed out as he fully faced TalOS, +While we can understand it if Lucius was trying to gain resources they are too far away for anything but spacecraft and other finished products. We have received numerous reports of trade now occurring among our other Forge Worlds but it does not compute with Xana becoming part of the Lucius Federation.+

+Those are reasonable assessments, Fabricator General.+ TalOS admitted as he narrowed his eyes upon the Tech Priest.

+Thus the reasoning for securing the planet is unavailable. It has also escaped my notice that Xana would not have become your unless you learned and acted upon something that Magos Margin was trying to learn.+ Thus the cruz of the issue was determined, +What was the true agreement that you came upon with Xana, the Paradox of the Mechanicum.+

The Primarch took a moment to think to himself to process the answer he was about to give. To tell the truth would place TalOS in the hands of the Fabricator General, but if he did so it would likely make him a potential ally to the Primarch. If he was an ally then he could legitimize the Reconquista and guarantee greater Mechanicum support for his war.

It does mean TalOS will be at his mercy. At the mercy of someone who he does not fully understand as of yet. If he is merciful though they can easily create a perfect lie.

basically, i think we can fully admit they "fled from mars" some time ago under circumstances they themselves can't remember but felt shame over ever since.
Then they became under siege of beings of the warp, that they barely stopped from taking their planet which left their star compromised and themselves very wary of any outside contacts.
So once the mechanicus reconnected and declared dominion they had suspicions, suspicions they felt were confirmed once the mars liason only attempted to hack them.
An actual talk with Tal0S sorted that out, so they joined under Lucius as a buffer.

They are ashamed because they know they were founded by people who fled Mars, but lost the specifics of what heresy it would be.
They were invaded by beings from the warp, which ruined their word and left the Data Djinn.
Margin, a martian, comes knocking, trying to undue the prison while acusing them. They are too ashamed and afraid to help him because he is a dick, and if he suceeds he would get possessed.
We show up, actually talk to them, banish the demon, and give them asylum. We even helped Mars, since if they joined Mars proper them it would just mean that Lucius would be getting an extra vote. Also they would to keep living in shame.

Bit conflicted here.

What if the boot were on the other foot. If we were Fabricator General, wouldn't we value honesty? Wouldn't we want to be told?

Truth be told, as long as the matter was dealt with satisfactorily (the daemon was purged, the AIs are no longer produced and any that remain to be killed, the cloning was an act of desperation) its not so big an issue. Talos did resolve it to the utmost of his ability, and feels that the risks of resurgence being null.

But others. Could they do the same.

At the same time, honour comes into play. We did promise their secrecy.

Not many perfectly clean options here. We smear some small part of honour, truth or trust whatever we choose.

>>5288098
>According to my agreement with Xana, I cannot furnish certain details. I will tell you the most I can though
I will just throw my greentext here if it needs to be. I think its the least dishonorable choice. We keep Xana's secret and honour, and we have directly ensured what their previous crimes have done are a non-issue. We are not letting it fester.

Xana is no longer pursuing AI research. They are no longer mass cloning. I think, so long as our followers have ensured that the evil has been vanquished, we could permit them to keep it a secret. Its if they haven't ensured all possibilities of prevention of its return to the utmost that it becomes a problem.

If we become Fabricator General, maybe we can also make it a point to be less punitive and more constructive. To be equally scrutinizing just as forgiving. Approach us with mistakes and sins not in fear of reprisal, but in desperate and honest need to fix it.

So my vote would be
>According to my agreement with Xana, I cannot furnish certain details. I will tell you the most I can though
>The multiple layers of defense that the Magus was certain was hiding their sins, was actually a prison to hold back a powerful Data-Djinn. Had he come with diplomacy and understanding instead of accusation and demand, perhaps it would have been him to banish the demon and be hailed as hero.
>I have integrated Xana to Lucius to offer them protection and companionship. The alternative would be to put a vassal in all but name to Lucius on the parlament of Mars.

Well, while my write-in did say he was a failure of a diplomat, which is absolutly true since he not only he snubbed Xana, he also insulted us, it did say he could have been the one to do exorcise the demon, which is kind of a indirect compliment by comparing his capability with a primarch.

Reputation and prestige are everything in the upper eschelons of the Mechanicus. Especially Mars. Specifically Mars. Just as in the Imperium and everywhere else. A fall from such heights can be truly the brutal landing. No one likes a fall from grace and few like one who fell from grace either.

Code monkey if he's lucky. Quietly deleted, if we are lucky to be honest.

If he lives, oh you better believe we can expect him to remember this and likely one day be part of the Dark Mechanicum without some incredible faith the likes of which would impress even Talos. Our Brother Guilliman would surely be able to point out the dangers of people spurned if we ever bring up the topic of those we've stepped on to get to the top, since he had to rise to the top of Ultramar to be its dictator and surely had his fair share.

Actually I'm sure our Creator might even comment on such. Or Kelbor Hal.

When speaking to Creed, Cawl calculated the likelihood the general would wise up to the pylons being xeno-tech and debated the percentage chances of assassinating him (they were low). I wonder if we had gone with Psychomancy, we could have applied it in a more utilitarian way to accurately estimate the loyalties of people. Especially if paired up with Guilliman's strategeois. Kinda like in Matrix or Westworld where you simulate every possible action a person or faction can do and determine which one is the most likely outcome.

Imagine the horror Talos would feel if one fine day, his calculations inexplicably but undeniably start pointing to one particular person going traitor, one that should be impossible: Horus.

It'd be interesting if Talos could also sense any of Kelbor's security systems or traps in this tower room. Hidden disintegrator turrets and cybernetica in the floors and ceiling, force field barriers, teleportation devices, or even distant planetary defense lasers that could theoretically be aimed right here while Kelbor ports away.

But we're Lucians. We know teleportation.

There were few things that TalOS could really consider in this instance. Outright lying to the Fabricator General was something that he could consider but that also meant no bridges could be built. There was also to consider the trust that Xana has given to TalOS as their Confessor. To betray such a duty now would stain the robes that TalOS wore for ages to come.

Such a dishonor was something that TalOS could not betray even if the Fabricator General was the ‘head’ of their faith. Ultimately while they acknowledged the physical authority of Mars it did not really hold truly Divine power. The one who held Divine Precedent was the Emperor of Mankind, who TalOS realized might never have wanted such a title in the first place.

At the end TalOS needed friends in the Mechanicum. He did not possess ultimately the unquestionable authority of a Primarch but instead the powers allotted to him as an Arch Dominus. After all, TalOS chose to approach him not as his birthright but instead as the Arch Dominus of Lucius.

In the end TalOS gave his word and such a word carried all the weight of Lucius behind it. He made a vow and he will keep it.

+When Mars first came upon the planet of Xana the Priests of the planet did not know what they could do with them. Such fears grew exponentially when the Martians, headed by Magos Margin, pointed at them the finger of Heresy. They were fearful, fearful of the Magos’s wrath if he found even an ounce of heresy upon the planet.+

+You accuse the good Magos? His reports had sound logic.+ The Fabricator Locum declared as he was surely looking over the Magi’s record, +You decry that his assumptions were false?+

+Does it matter if they are true or false when the blessed scanners find a single data file?+ TalOS pointed out as he began to widen his own view, +That if the Magos found something that abhorrent that he would sentence an entire planet to destruction.+

TalOS waited a moment to see if they would reject his words, but they were not so. It was as if he had caught a serf stepping out of line. If Xana was found with Heresy they would have been allotted for destruction by the greater Mechanicum.

+Such things are understandable.+ TalOS gave a helping hand towards the Martians, +But the Xanites were in complete fear in those moments. Doubly so when their systems were infected with something not of our world.+

Kelbor Hal’s eyes gave a flicker of light as if a massive amount of power was diverted throughout the machine. The Priest began to tighten his bionics as he did not know what TalOS could have referred to.

+A data-djinn of the Warp infected their systems.+

+The Warp infected their infosphere?+ Kelbor Hal looked upon TalOS with a hint of surprise and wariness.

+I tell you the truth, even if I cannot give you evidence of its existance.+ Declared the Primarch as he made the sign of the cog, +Upon the Machine God I swear upon its existence. It was the primary reason for the Xanites fearing Magos Margin, for if he accessed this item incorrectly I fear he would have been corrupted beyond measure.+

+What you are claiming is a Heresy of the greatest order. Something that cannot exist.+ The Fabricator General of Mars declared outright as if gripped by a moment of fear, +Indeed we have had the flesh of man controlled by foul powers, but a Djinn made of it.+

TalOS gave a solemn nod, +If Magos Margin would have found it he would have brought the entire planet of Xana to the torch, maybe even infecting himself in the processes. You must understand the Xanites acted as its Warden for so long yet could not fathom what could become of it if it got out.+

+How did it infect them.+ The Fabricator General began studying each and every word that TalOS now spoke. Before the man was obviously paying attention but now he was inraptured by whatever TalOS spoke.

+They had fought beings of the Warp there, during Old Night. To spite the Xanites for defeating them their leader whose name I shall never speak cursed them.+ TalOS allowed those words a moment to sink in before he finished, +It was its scheme to divide Xana from the rest of the Mechanicum. Only thanks to my destroying of it with Nullification tools and prayer that it was killed.+

The two before TalOS stood silent and began sending messages between one another. It was quite heated as they discussed what was surely a revelation to them. TalOS would not hold back the truth though, not to those that stood at the highest echelons of the Cult Mechanicus.

+Is there anything else you shall share with us?+ The Fabricator General asked as he took a moment’s attention back to TalOS.

+What else I know I shall keep in secrecy. I have made an agreement with the Xanites that I will not break.+

The Fabricator General stared at TalOS for another moment in thought. Obviously he was processing the information given and seeing if he needed anything else. Though he gave a signal of affirmation to TalOS.

+I believe I understand the situation now. We wondered how the terrors of Old Night affected our Forge Worlds.+

There was a sense of satisfaction with how the Fabricator General received the details. He must have finally finished the Matrix upon TalOS and how he acted, though TalOS truly lacked a complete Matrix on the Fabricator General. The only thing that TalOS knew for certain was that the Tech Priest was not afraid to do things behind closed doors.

+I shall personally make sure that Magos Margin realizes his error.+ The Fabricator General announced first and foremost, +He has shown you Mars in a bad light and I wish to apologize for his incompetence. He was my subordinate.+

+The Federation of Lucius recognizes your words.+ TalOS declared with a firmness in his voice befitting of a Primarch.

+With that we must move towards the matter of your Reconquest.+ The Fabricator General pointed out as he sent a declaration to TalOS, +You take after your Father in his own Great Crusade, but you see yours as divine.+

+My Creator I believe sees value in those words. As a Psyker he knows how perception affects the Immaterium. Calling it a Crusade gives his declaration a sense of righteousness and power that calling it anything else would lack.+ TalOS said in an admitive defense, +I do not say he should have the right to declare it as much but that is how a Psyker’s mind would view it.+

+Interesting.+ The Fabricator General seemed to have taken a moment of deep thought as he began to walk, +Yours however I see the truth of the matter. A Reconquista, a Crusade to retake the lands humanity was robbed of.+

TalOS took in the concepts that the Fabricator General was speaking and realized the truth of the matter, +What is it that you desire of me to gain your blessing and vocal support.+

The Fabricator General gave his first smile as if he was talking to an equal, +There are a great many things you can give Mars TalOS, both personally and of Lucius. You surely have recognized the power the words of a Primarch holds over the people of Mars.+

So the man was expecting a Tithe, a bribe. TalOS recognized quickly that the man was either looking for a personal bribe or something that would ultimately benefit Mars proper. It could be the start of a relationship where TalOS and Kelbor Hal begin to scratch each other's backs. It seems the Fabricator General recognized that TalOS would keep his words in certain matters.

>If Technology if found, Mars will receive a generous portion of physical STCs themselves found.
>The Primarch will publicly declare his support for the Fabricator General

>No, TalOS will not pay off Mars in such a fashion.
>>
>>5289162
If it's okay with you QM in this case, I would like to vote two things cause I think they are doable and won't amount to extra writing. If that's not possible, do the first thing.
>If Technology if found, Mars will receive a generous portion of physical STCs themselves found.
>A favor of action, as long as it's non-heretical, TalOS will pledge. (Essentially do a job for him* right now before we leave to focus on the Mitu Reconquista)

Okay, so here's my reasonings.
I think rather than usurping Kelbor Hal, we could in due time create a new position specific to us. One which effectively gives us great power, while simultaneously allowing Kelbor Hal not to need to abdicate. Consider that Rogal Dorn established the title of Lord Commander of the Imperium, which was held in simultaneous to Malcador as Lord Regent. Kelbor Hal has experience in dealing with the politics of Mars, while we have military expertise being a Primarch and conducting overarching affairs. Such a thing we could try to model here.

More the so, I want to give loyalist Kelbor Hal a chance. If we can influence him to retain his true belief in the Machine God, and resist the wiles and temptations no matter where they come, that would be one good deed Talos did. Having him on our side can change the outcome of the Heresy by far.

STC's are legitimately safer on Mars. That's where they came from in the first place, Mars has the best temples and security for their protection, and they are away from the front. Even Lucius was unfortunately attacked and suffered some losses. We can upload the data from them to our forges, and then return the copies to Mars. This is a very pious act, akin to returning holy relics to the Vatican.

Doing a job for Kelbor (right now, not a big fan of favors for later at an inopportune time) sounds like a cool quest which I think we can do. Pledging them STCs would only be a few lines of dialogue at most anyway. And maybe we can show Kelbor we are worthy of trust.

In due time, I'd like him to become something akin to our own Malcador to our Emperor, a Kor Phaeron to Lorgar or Luther to Lion (except not going traitor). We can pull out the stops and try to keep him loyal here and now. Even if Horus promises him more STCs in the future, we have shown we are able to deliver. We are of the same faith and cloth, and if we add trust and history, we could tip the scales to have Kelbor on our side than the traitors.

I vote for this one because it is the most entertaining one. In quest terms, the other three options won't do much besides some dialog or references. With the option I am voting on, we are going on a side-quest!!!

Hmm... maybe the option of giving Mars a portion of the STCs would make Horus have a harder time seducing the fabricato general...
>>
>>5289162
>The Primarch will publicly declare his support for the Fabricator General
We honestly don't really care too much about Mars. We want to lead our slice of the Mechanicum and go adventuring later for STCs. If we a talented fabricator general is in power, and we have some measure of influence, we can have a better opportunity cost.
>>
>>5289162
>A favor of action, as long as it's non-heretical, TalOS will pledge. (Essentially do a job for him)

Well favor is a favor, FG already have a matrix of TalOS that shows that he value a honor. He don't know how quick he can discard such believe. After all words are wind and action what's matter. If in the future we discard the secret job the fg have given MC - then we will be hostile only to fg not entire Mars - which we can win over. If the job is alright then we will have ++ opinion with fg. So with favor we lose nothing and gain everything.

Get him on board now. And we shall become the 2nd in command of the Mechanicus. We'll keep our designation as Domnius but as Primarch we'll be that anyway.

No way can Horus or anyone else take him from our grasp. Coopt Mars and the rest shall follow.

Dad will also have to give our word more weight especially when it comes to the matters of the Warp.

Also. I kinda like the idea that ALL future Tech Priests have the option of becoming an Ancillian or Astarte.

That would really screw with the way things are run in the Imperium.

regardless of what wins, we can't froget that the reason of our pilgrimage was the ... 'aggressive' diplomacy of Mars in regards to their fellow forge worlds. Lets make clear that this will have to stop, or at least be dialed back, otherwise it WILL lead to problems.

We may disagree with the current Martian leaders on diplomacy, but none can deny Mars is still the Holy World. We can download the STC patterns to our forgeworlds and allies, and send the physical relics to be preserve forever in the temples of sacred Mars. This is also Talos chance to endear the Martian leaders to himself, and change their way of thinking. Also Talos should just use his technomancy to study how to make physical copies of STCs anyway. That will be a clear sign of his divine patronage. The Admech is thousands of years overdue on the great backup and has been clicking "do it later" for too long.

Fair points, trust has to be built slowly.
We would just need to remember to offer the STCs later, before Horus does himself. And have more than him.
>>

We should eventually push to make sharing knowledge from STCs a common thing between forge worlds.
How is the Mechanicus suposed to complete the Quest for Knowledge if fellow priests hide it from eachother?

I'm pretty sure Mars specifically has such facilities in spades

If you mean a secondary storage in Xana or Lucius, yeah that's not a bad idea. Xana would be even better because it will be more resistant to warp corruption.

Let's be cooperative as we can, but we gotta leave things to keep track of things here.. techpriests or some sort of spy program in the servitors under kelbor hals employ. Servitors must barely be noticed in a place like this, going around doing all sorts of duties.

>>5289606
Gigabrain option is just to actually copy the STCs and have numerous smaller vaults. If you have the same STC on 10 forge worlds, it does not matter if half of them are destroyed, since you have copies. A central STC bank sounds like a disaster that is waiting to happen, and actually probably did happen considering the tech decay.

We are going to meet up with Horst for an update I imagine, if Kelbor himself isn't going to speak of Horst. Horst has hopefully done some good work while we were crusading in establishing our presence here.

I'd be weary yet about doing such methods, as Talos does not have the time to oversee it as he is going to be off soon, and bugging servitors seems like paltry things the level of admech game Talos and Kelbor are at. More likely an effective espionage duel would require the employment of Data-Jinn and Infiltration Code by Talos against the best of Kelbors defenses. And Kelbor Hal is no mere techpriest, for he has grown upon Mars and rose to its top. He likely has the very best of Martian firewalls surrounding him as we speak.

But it is something I hope to see. The equivalent is Magnus encountering an alpha level psyker wizard on another planet of powerful psykers, one who is allied with the Imperium and thus not an enemy, and testing to see who is the superior magician.

I hope to see Talos become the technomantic equivalent of Magnus. Not just blasting lightning or plasma from his fingers, anyone with a gun or even a Jokaero can achieve a similar effect. Flashy lights and grav levitation are but fireworks, the true supreme of the Technomancer is mastery over the Machine and Machine Spirit. As warp spirits and wisps tremble before Magnus, one day wherever we tread may every machine spirit, from the humble lighting or door opening programs to the very spirits of ships or the servos of power armor, defer to us, true prophet of the Machine God.

I think that will give us the best footing and allow us to establish a fine spy program. One even Alpharius would find a challenge. I can imagine the Alpha Legion would find it difficult to penetrate the Thousand Sons given they can only send so many of their own sorcerers sleepers and you cannot clone psykers, and even those must beware the more powerful wizards and their tutelaries and who knows what other esoteric defenses, and above it all the third eye of Magnus himself. The same I hope will be true of our Acillians one day. Flesh and form may be mimicked, the human brain fooled, but the great Machine Spirits know all and see all. Great Firewalls, Verification Djinn, Enigma Codes, all stemming from us as the source will be our shield against the infiltrator.
>>
>>5289947
I'd be genuinely surprised if that isn't what Mars is already doing. Mars is the capital of the Federations Tech, plus all the ancient century or even millenia old temples built by the Admech.

If Mars had the capability I am certain they would try to make redundant copies across different vaults of their planet, and then also sending out copies to forge worlds so they can start producing things.

Rather, I more expect it may not currently possible to do such, at least by current admech technology, and is something Talos might need to make a breakthrough.

In the very least we know that the data of an STC can be copied onto other mediums, as we saw the techpriest downloading a portion of the Spirit of Eternities STC databank into his ship. Maybe we might consider libraries of STC data on key Federation planets like Xana or Lucius, even if much bigger and less compact, until we can properly copy them. Or find the STC that makes STC computers.

The Fabricator General looked upon TalOS with a widening grin of realization, +That is quite the boon and is worth my sponsorship.+

+You will have to make whatever action you wish for me to take immediate. I do not wish to have a favor hang over my head for hundreds of years not knowing when it can be invoked.+ TalOS announced as he laid down the restrictions.

+That is an understandable term. I would not wish to have such a curse settled upon my shoulders for what might be eternity.+ Kelbor Hal gave a solemn nod as he heard those words, +What I wish of you is to root out a Heretek that I know of.+

+To root out heresy.+ TalOS felt a moment of suspicion work over him as he heard the demand, +You are Fabricator General. Nothing will stop you from doing so.+

+You are correct in that I cannot be stopped, but it's the optics that I worry about.+ The Tech Priest sent TalOS a small data package, +This is Arch Magos Elyssium Korn, one who speaks ill of my tenure and a leader of incorporators. He himself has commited Tech Heresy by building an AI.+

+So you wish for me to eliminate him so that you cannot be pressured for attacking a rival.+

+The Researchers think themselves beyond the rules set by the Machine God. Few, and I believe the Arch Magos himself, have had a drink of the Imperial Truth and were found wanting in faith.+

+Apostasy?+

+That is what I have reasoned. What I do know is that he disregarded the twelfth law ever since the Emperor’s words have touched Mars. I wish to make sure that it does not spread further, in the open at least.+

+He will be dealt with.+ Declared the Primarch as he confirmed the materials that were given to him to be authentic, +The method to which I shall determine after the announcement.+

The Fabricator General nodded as he seemed to accept the terms, +We have a night ahead of ourselves to plan and announce times. All shall be waiting for our words.+

The sun, red from the clouds of dust that had been brushed into the air, rose into the sky as everyone watched from afar. Millions of souls began to gather in the city as everyone waited for their chance to see the leader of the Reconquista. The one who went around and gathered support from all sides of the manufactorium.

A message was sent out three hours ago as an announcement. Any who were able and some who foolishly thought otherwise left their posts and approached stood there. There were Skitarii, Servitors, Servo-Skulls, and of course the Tech Priests themselves. All who were able had turned on their occulars so that they may record the event while others were taking in the many views being generated by the Servitors around them.

While all this happened the only sounds that could be heard was the buzzing of machines and stomping of limbs. None dared speak lest they rob others of their moment of respite and reality.

Such were the circumstances outside the manufactorium.

There was movement as the last of those who could visually see the terrace arrived. A door to a balcony that stood as tall as a Titan opened and out stepped two individuals followed by another pair. The ones leading the front was that of a normal human, and a Primarch.

Excitement began to fill the air as each Priest began broadcasting their thoughts and emotions through the air and into the blessed chats of others. Such a dreadful amount of noise attacked all that could sense such frequencies but those who could not was welcomed with a silence.

They watched as the two of them shared words and the Fabricator General stepped forward. In an instant all discussion that was happening in the data-sphere was silenced as they waited for the words.

+Childen of the Machine God and his Omnissiah, for a time we have stayed back and watched as the children of the Omnissiah walked throughout the galaxy to claim what the Imperium declares to be theirs. We have stayed back, exercising our right to rule over each and every forge world and no others. That ends now, for one of the Omnissiah’s Sons walks the umbrial code of the Machine God and wishes to retake what was lost to humanity so long ago!+

And with those words the Fabricator General stepped back and allowed the Primarch to step forward.

The thing we need the Mechanicum to be at the moment is unified, to present a united front against all of the other factions of 40k, be in the Imperium (primarchs, emperor, admininstratum, etc.) or outside of it (eldar, chaos, necrons etc.). A house divided upon itself cannot stand.

There are two such holy grails in the galaxy.
One is hidden, so well no one found it in 40,000 years save those lucky few who guard it.

The other treasure is guarded by the figurative equivalent of an ancient ferocious dragon able to slay knights with fire and blast at ease. . .and it is not the Dragon of Mars. That one was built by the hand of man.

Actually not two but several confirmed cases and a potential golden ticket.

One is hidden on the planet Hito, but a local order have specifically hidden it away from the eyes of the Mechanicum.
There's one on the Spirit of Eternity, which may or may not still be lost in time or lost in a spacehulk. Somehow, some way, Cawl was able to summon it even after it left the galaxy.
There's one on the Speranza, the unfinished Ark Mechanicus buried on the planet Halomar in the Halo Stars. This one is particularly unique because it appears to still be "updating" which could imply its designing new technologies to deal with the current situation and also has info on the men of gold.

And, if Magos Lexell Kotov is correct, supposedly ALL Ark Mechanicus have intact databases but the Mechanicus has not been able to access them. Perhaps purposefully by the ships themselves (it was the ship who wiped his memory of this knowledge upon disconnecting).

>Attempt at write-fag and blatant stealing
"When I embarked upon this pilgrimage, to offer myself, my faith, my very being to the Machine God, I had dreamed of this moment. To place my own feet upon the blessed red soil of Holy Mars, to step where the Ancients themselves once tread. I had thought that I would be greeted by Martians. But I look upon you this day, and I say, 'where are the Martians'. Surely you are a great crowd. Did I also not come here with Lucians and Mezoans? With Xanites and Stygians? Had I not been joined by Stygians, Ryzans, Metallians, Vossans, and a hundred other worlds. Where are they now?

That is not what I see this day. For what greets is something far greater blessing from our Digital Lord. I came here as an acolyte who gathered the harvest of minerals, ores and fuels, but at the forge gazes meekly at the blinding glare of a white hot alloy. You have blessed me with the greatest welcome I could have envisioned. I look upon you and I can see only the Cult Mechanicus. I see the Children of the Machine God.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6J0ohV3rlDg
Sons and Daughters of the Machine God... For many years, our congregation had been broken: shunned, oppressed, and conquered by our foes at every turn. Our forge worlds beset upon all sides by the mutant, the alien, and the heretic.

Years ago, our Lord asked for time, and that time was granted by you. You: the strength in His steely arms, the holders of His digital dreams...

Our forefathers embarked on the greatest exodus in the history of all mankind. An exodus of faith. Our forge worlds were born of the fires of that faith. Our enemies believed they could defeat that faith. Through the horrors of Long Night, through the rebellion of our own foolish thinking machines, through an entire Age of Strife they thought they had weakened us unto death. But through the heat of those fires, through the hammer blows of their hatre, as soft ores become hard steel we became stronger.

In the time you have given, we have rebuilt our church, we have rebuilt our strength, and we have rebuilt our pride!

Our allies in Terra stand with us, we shall show them the dedication we have to our cause. On this day, we stand united once more. On this day, foes driven to divide us will hear our voice! On this day, we shall act as one, and we shall be divided NO MORE!

Defenders of the Mechanicus dream, NOW IS OUR TIME!"

I think we should use their proper colours from here on out. it's the same colour as their special metal and the reason it's black is because "scorched black by the artificial sun within the planet in a ritual known as the "Solar Blessing."
>>
>>5291535
Nah dude black and steel are alot cooler. Also beige doesn't make a ton of sense, seems like it implies like.. natural earth or mining in some way maybe. Black and steel seems to represent Lucius better

>>5291533
I'm pretty sure that it's beige and black, being that the steel is actually Luciun, which is dark as fuck.
>>
>>5291535
Canon has it as cream and dark metal afaik, so the truth is somewhere in the middle. The dark Lucian plate is significant because it gets its blackened coloration by exposure to the artificial sun within the forgeworld during a ritual known as the "Solar Blessing".

Everyone watched as the Primarch stepped forward. Under the red Martian sun they saw upon him the creme and steel robes that belonged to another Forge World, but the massive bionic limb that took one of his arms told them that he was indeed one of their kind. He stood there for a moment to study the massive groups of individuals, forges, and fiefdoms to determine what they were.

As he did so the rest did the same. As their eyes glanced away from the obvious binic to the chiseled face and frame that such a perfect being could bare. Many forced their oculars to enhance their visions so that they could study the firm determination that echoed from his eyes.

It was then that the Primarch spoke, a perfect tone of binary that was carried through all the mouths that willingly donated themselves to the data-sphere that was projecting him. All felt their hearts taken up as cognition was applied to learn what the man spoke.

+I embarked on my pilgrimage one year, six months, and three days ago. From the planets of Xana and Columnus to Titan and Terra I have walked through the domain of the Machine God. Each of these Forges have blessed onto me numerous vessels that number in the hundreds. I look upon the people below me and see not only the red robes of Martians, but the Blue of Columnus to the Scorched Black of Lucius.+

Everyone looked around and studied their fellows with a closeness that only an Acolyte of the Mechanicum would have been able to. Within seconds the outliers of those who had come down early from the fleet were found and noticed to have blended themselves perfectly among the crowds of Mars. It was illuminating as they looked upon it.

+I looked towards today for all the year I have traveled. With every step I made I gathered more and more of our people so that we may witness the coming age!+

The Primarch fell silent for a moment and in that moment each and every priest began to discuss and chatter with one another. Speculation was quickly expanded between not just the Martians but the others who came from so many other Forges. They all could not help but guess at the brilliant mind that possessed insights none have had.

The Primarch raised his hands into the air as he basked in the morning sun. The robes that were once Beige began to appear red as the Primarch allowed the light of the holiest of solar phenomena to blast itself against his skin.

And then he spoke.

+Servants of the Forges, Priests who have served in the pursuit of knowledge, Warriors who have died and bled to protect that which is the most important to all of humanity; All who have been chosen by the Machine God and his Divine touch. I reach out to thee.+

The entire crowd began to rumble as the Primarch called out the name of the Machine God. The faith of the people pouring out into the ground and the Machine Spirits that stood close to them.

+Our Forefathers, ancient and wise, reached out into the stars and claimed the entire galaxy as their own. No Xenos, let it be Ork or Mutant, stood on their path to greater glory. It was then that misery struck, the betrayal of Machines against mankind creating an achinging wound that bleed out into what became Old Night.+

The Primarch fell silent for a moment as if reaching deep within his understanding.

+In those years Monsters reign. From Terra to the Galactic Rim creatures from both beyond the veil and those who mutate the realm of man claimed so many of our worlds and knowledge. They forced humanity to forget the Divinity that they had reached and sent them back to the ages of stone and powder. But we, touched by the Machine God upon this planet, did not forget the truth. We grabbed upon those strands of divinity with tightening hands and for that the Machine God noticed us.+

+My Fellows, both Man and Machine, we stand at the side of Terra but we just watch. We allow their legions of warriors walking across the sky to reclaim the domains of the Machine God. No more I say, for we are the Chosen Children of the Machine God. No more shall we stay at the sidelines and grow dim as our allies wage war! No more, for there is knowledge, iron, and manpower in the Universe that is ours for the taking!+

Everyone within the alleys stared upon TalOS as he spoke his next words.

+Upon the authority given to me by the Fabricator General, I hereby declare a Crusade!+

And with those words the entire crowd could not hold their excitement but instead began to scream. Millions be they those who only ever spoke of the machine or kept their flesh, began to cry out in happiness and fervor as they began to answer the action.

+Lords and Scions of Mars, those who join me shall strike upon their robes the red like the sands of our holy world. Those who bear this mark shall be known as Crusaders upon the Reconquesta of Humanity’s existence! Let this moment be the changing of the Eras! Let us bring the Technological Ascension of Humanity! Deus Mechanicus!+

As the crowd cried, for a moment, just a moment, those among the crowd felt as if water had touched their faces. Some may claim it was radiation, but others would claim that it was the miracle they had all waited for.

No longer did TalOS bare simple beige robes like those of Lucius. Now the beige was replaced with a red and the gunsteel black became far more prominent. As he stepped through the streets surrounded by his similarly marked Acillians walking by his side. Around him the numerous Serfs, Priests, and Servitors bowed as he stepped upon the red martian soil.

Looking about he noticed the numerous lines that had been forming and where they led. The Primarch knew instantly that each and every one of the Serfs he saw before him were waiting for their chance to be analyzed and studied. The reason was to become the next generation of Skitarii.

The F.A.G. regulation set was given to the Martians and instantly they began cutting down on unneeded work forces. Such forces did not even need prompting to leave as they all threw themselves at the recruitment drives that the numerous Magos were now hosting so that they could personally host cohorts during the war.

The first signs that TalOS realized he was approaching his destination was the numerous beige colored Skitarii and the few Acillians that were with them. TalOS gave a nod to his sons who gave TalOS a nod back to their ultimate creator.

As expected the doors that TalOS was approaching were opened by a pair of Skitarii in a welcoming fashion. The Arch Dominus walked through the doors with a purpose and was greeted by the now bowing Senatus H3VST.

+Arch Dominus.+ The Senatus bowed to TalOS as the Primarch finally arrived to him, +Or shall you have me call you Sanctus Dominus from here onwards?+

TalOS felt a moment of wonder in his heart upon hearing those words, +To you I shall simply be Arch Dominus TalOS. I believe the title of Sanctus Dominus to be one that will forever be used by those outside of our Forge World.+

+Do you regret gaining such a title?+

+It is a title to describe my authority in the Crusade, given to me by the Crusaders. I cannot feel shame for something that truly describes my duties from this moment onwards.+ Santcus Dominus TalOS admitted with a hint of wonder in his voice.

+It fits one such as yourself.+ The former Dominus told TalOS with about the same wit as one looking to make a joke.

+What is the status of Mars, Senatus H3VST?+ TalOS asked his fellow as they began walking deeper into the compound.

The Tech Priest thought to himself for a moment in thought, +What the Fabricator General spoke here is the truth of the matter. I have looked upon the dozens of records the Martians hold in storage and indeed they are a war-hungry people. Before they were in a forever stalemate against one another, taking in resources from the greater Crusade and releasing finished products so that the Legions of the Emperor gathered them more imports.+

+My appearance has changed the lines of Mars?+

+With the introduction of the FAG the resources that the Tech Priests had to fight over have suddenly become excess. They have found themselves with pieces of production where development. Those who will not take up such things are those who will be joining you on Crusade.+

+So you think there might be war?+

The Senatus shook his head against those words, +There will not be one, not as long as the ‘Omnissiah’ watches over them. Though land will soon be changing hands without that as many realize what the future now holds.+

+To go out and make their own Forge Worlds, be the first to hold the greatest technologies, unlocking secrets of the universe.+ There was a moment of lament in the words of the Priest, +Arch Dominus, I had only wish a few more years in your service.+

+But there is not a single other Priest I can trust other than you, H3VST.+ TalOS reminded the Priest, +Have you research my quarry?+

The Priest gave a nod, +Arch Magos Korn is an eccentric who unites Radicals under his banner. They support greater technological changes and the decreasing of overview, many even whispering that there should be none at all for their creations.+

+So they are ignorant of the reasons.+

+I do think so, they seem to misunderstand why we have such things to begin with. They did not take the look inside like you had Arch Dominus and instead sought new machines to augment their factories and soldiers. Such unproven machines cannot be allowed even with increasing Imperial Demand.+

This is a golden opportunity I hope we capitalize on.
Anyone of our brothers could simply go to kill Korn and his followers. But only Talos could engage in a hack war not only against Korn but against his AI.

This is the opportunity I have been looking for were we can train and practice not only Talos skill in the cyberealm, but those of his sons. Exactly like if Magnus were to fight a wizard, he wouldn't kill him with bolter and blade he'd beat him in the warp realm.

We can establish our own elect team of expert acillians and techpriests we can personally trust and vouch for, aided and in coordinate with Malcadors agents if he accepts too. We will give them codes and verification spirits directly from our own creation, we as the source, so that ultimately no one can simply kidnap any one of them and extract the means to defeat the system (take that Alpharius! This is how I can see us developing resistance to his infiltrators and sleeper agents. Through constant, ceaseless verification of agents by each other to ensure they are the real person and also that they havent been mysterious absent or cybernetic mind tampered. You can change faces, you can clone bodies and deceive men, but you cannot fool the eyes of the Machine God and his spirits).

This is also a good start for the Vanus Temple. Their ability to accurately calculate the success rate of operations and conduct them in such a way that no one even knows their presence is ideal and that's something we want here. Officially we didn't kill Korn. His own AI turned against him, proof of his recklessness. Our invisible hand unseen. Plus by having a second secret organization in coordinate with our acillians it makes them both stronger and more difficult to infiltrate, especially if we combine Malcadors expertise in secrecy with ours.

Above all, ask our Lord for his blessing. He is here! We can feel him stronger than anywhere else nearby. Pray in the direction of the Noctis Vault, and ask him to guide us and our efforts. When all our best traps and tricks fail, maybe not today, maybe against Alpharius or other vile Daemons and Madmen like Draykavac, he overcomes all. No dark wizard, no rogue spirit, no demon can stand against the Dragon.

It will bring honor to our God to penetrate Korn's defenses with agents dedicated in his name, and then we ourselves challenge the AI with our mind and turn it against Korn, and none but our own will ever know.

Maybe that is the message we really want to send, I'm not entirely against it, but if this gets out our crusade may be associated with us also being at war with people who commit tech heresy, or who are against Mars.
And I think I might want Talos to commit a little tech heresy one day, and nobody likes a hippocrit.

Hmmm. The Emperor didnt actually chastise or even forbid us on our home made astartes. Not even Malcador made any comment on it (now that I remember it is kinda sad)

TalOS gave a nod as he understood the circumstance, +Then I will give them no quarter.+

+I believe that to be a wise assessment.+ The veteran claimed as he sent TalOS a data package, +They are the Researchers, folk who see themselves above the makings of our ancestors and try to create something out of nothing.+

+So raw invention?+

+Indeed.+

TalOS gave a solemn nod to those thoughts. If one was to try and attempt something without consulting the knowledge of ancients then they are surely to strike some sort of dark cord, bringing misery towards their own people. Even TalOS, one who felt himself knowledgeable in a great many things, does not stray from the knowledge of Ancients so far as to develop away from their designs.

After all, anything that TalOS made, can be traced to either STC designs or those designs that have been gleaned during his tenure as an Adept of the Mechanicum.

+They are only one party of Forges upon Mars.+ The Priest pointed out as TalOS took the moment to review the data parcel given through the Noosphere, +There are those claiming themselves the Reformists, the Puritans, Initiated, and the Doctrine. Currently the Fabricator General rules because of a joint cooperation between the Initiated, Puritans, and Doctrines.+

+Hmm, if I understand from your document there has been a shift since my Creator arrived here.+

+Two forms of doctrine have formed with his arrival. Those who see his arrival as divine and throw themselves in tradition harder than they ever had before and those who were influenced by the cult the Emperor has formed.+

+The Imperial Truth?+

+That seems to be so. Few have cried out their own allegiance to the cause but they champion it within their minds and manifolds. I can only admit your wisdom in denying the Emperor’s status upon Lucius, for I am sure his faith would have had a stronghold otherwise.+

+It is the price Mars paid. It is up to us to keep out such corruption from our ranks.+ TalOS affirmed as he began navigating the data-sphere, +Pardon me a moment, Senatus H3VST, I must rip into one of the growing tumors.+

And within a second after speaking those words TalOS used the Noospheric connections set up by Senatus H3VST to access the Martian systems.

The Martian Noosphere was a massive network of wires and connections. It was by far more comparable to the sphere of Xana, though it was worse than them. If TalOS had to give a diagnosis he could say that while Xana was obviously built from the ground up with a sense of cohesion the Martian Data-Sphere was anything but that.

TalOS jumped from one server to another while looking over data trails. Several Aegis showing to the Primarch where lines were drawn on Mars between one Forge World and another. None of these stopped the Primarch though as he simply overrode whatever command protocols their Tech Priests have placed before him.

Still TalOS found that in several moments that he was troubled and even came close to being trapped. Several times promising pathways were instead quickly discovered to be dead ends and others TalOS needed to reroute his connection lest his path of entry was detected by the surveillance servitors.

TalOS was a Primarch and an Arch Dominus gifted with the tools of such a position. While Mars was the heart of the Mechanicum in some ways Lucius had progressed ahead of their master. Such a thing was only amplified with the mind of a Primarch orchestrating behind it.

It was only when TalOS finally arrived at his destination, the cogitators of Magos Korn, that he felt a presence take notice of him.

+Hello?+

TalOS’s hacking process stopped as he quickly turned all his attention towards the target. Within a second he realized what spoke was not a Servitor or a Tech Priest, for the external ports were accessed.

+I am XL-55. May I ask who you are?+

TalOS did not need another moment to realize what was before him. Without another moment’s delay he reached forward and severed the Abomination from whatever frame was holding it. Before the rogue system realized it, TalOS packaged the digital personality and sent it back to his body for storage.

With his task done TalOS took a moment to admire how far into Mars he was. Then a thought came into his mind.

>Place a data-djinn into the network of Mars.
>Present some access codes to the Lucians on Mars
>Don’t do such a thing, it might be found out.

Our first venture into the depths of the Noosphere of Mars. What excitement! This is likely what Magnus feels when he ventures into the warp.

XL-55. Hardly put up a fight, but to be expected. Korn and his ilk are nothing like the great masters of old. I imagine this thing was like a guppy or a tadpole compared to what machine spirits lie awake or asleep in the deep bowels of the Martian noosphere. And the great dragon that slumbers at the very bottom.

I wonder just how far down the digital rabbit hole Talos could go if he tried. I believe we could plant a Data-Djinn deep enough that even Kelbor Hal and his best would struggle to reach.

Talos is a calculating primarch. He would not do such a thing if he wasn't absolutely sure of his own abilities, which he is. And both him and the Emperor dare any mortal or even group of mortals to be better skilled than him at his own artform. Lesser techpriests have risked more and succeeded than this. Even Kelbor likely had to go to such lengths to get to his position.

Why do that when we can try to experiment with some real Apotheosis. It also sounds kind of hypocritical. That being said, this AI doesn't seem that very strong or noteworthy anyway, so new and so gullible. Particeps Semper or any spirit of an Ark Mechanicus would likely view it as little more than a baby. Sure maybe we could grow it, but on top of being somewhat distasteful and hypocritical of us, why grow such a small AI when there are deeper older and far more powerful beings to find and tame to our will.

UR 025 is a Man of Iron, one of the few to remain in an age the 40k age that has forgotten about them. His body was superior to a Kastellan, though was masked to look like Imperial design. Theoretically, he could be very strong intelligence simply inhabiting that frame, because he was more than capable of defeating the counterfeit protocol charm of command of a fabricator general from the local forge world but knew if he did that he'd give himself away to the techpriest.

That also depends on what exactly counts as a soul for an AI/Machine Spirit and whether there were fundamentally differences when you looked past the religion and at it objectively behind the scenes.

40k itself is intentionally vague.

Gotta look back if QM has already mentioned specifics. We know for a fact that Machine Spirits of our guns seem to be pleased by a null field, so if they have a soul its not a soul in the conventional sense of the warp like mankind is.

I theorize that an understanding of Technomancy is the answer. I believe that there is a fundamental field that underlies the cosmos. Not the warp, which is outside the universe, but hidden within the material realm. Call it whatever you wish, the Motive Force, Quantum Energy, the Laws of Physics. This is the realm that Necron Technomancers like Orikan, Words of Power like Enuncia, or the C'Tan tap into who are beings of material energy.

If AI/Machine Spirits have a soul, it is based in this field. Perhaps even our true Machine God is there, Void Dragon or not. A sort of counterpart to the warp based on the real world.

Here's a thought. Does a digitized human consciousness count as Silica Anima or is it permissible as a Soul of Man?

In 40k Antigonus was a Magos who was killed near an STC, which was able to make a digital replication of his mind that was capable of moving between and interacting with machines. The replica was treated effectively as him, or rather was seen even by techpriests as being Antigonus himself and at the end of his adventure he was tested as pure and allowed to return to Mars to deposite all he had learned and complete his mission. Perhaps he even went on to continue to serve, or was allowed rest.

Would Talos view Antigonus favorably or not?

>Don’t do such a thing, it might be found out.

I think he would view him favorably, for he was born of the soul of man and knew what it was to be a man. An AI would not and lack human comprehension.

It's also possible Korn intentionally created or awoken a weak willed easily manipulated AI just to increase the productivity of his sector and research. If he were one of Magnus sons you would summon a small demon to become your tutelary, not a greater daemon that would pose an immediate danger.

That's likely the excuse he will give us: "But it was only a small AI, it could do no harm. See, I was in control!"

With TalOS being so far into the Martian network it did not require much thought for him to place a Data-Djinn of his own making into the systems. The program, a simple Machine Spirit, would go around the network and gather numerous pieces of information for the Primarch to use.

There was a caveat to this which was that the Djinn will not work with anyone else. Only when the Primarch recalled it that the program would come back to him like some animalistic puppy. It would keep itself safeguarded and if found the machine could not be traced to the Primarch.

The perfect scout and the device to leverage TalOS’s ear to. Who knows what might happen on Mars, both behind and before closed doors.

With the Data-Djinn secured the Primarch began moving his way out of the network. Moving thought and closing a series of data-ports that gave the Primarch entry in the first place. Indeed he could quickly release himself but that would lead to further trouble. People might take notice when their machines suddenly catch on fire from his exit.

It took a good amount of time and processing for the Arch Dominus but he soon drew himself out of the data-sphere. The majority of his senses quickly began kicking themselves back into operation as the Primarch studied what was reality.

+Were you successful?+ H3VST asked as he noticed the twitching of TalOS’s limbs.

+Here.+ The Primarch reached into his clothes and brought to the man a dataslate, +This is the AI of Arch Magos Korn. It was young and infantile but I would not allow it to be turned on.+

+I shall present such evidence to Parliament. We will be venerated for finding a heretic among the elites of Mars.+

+Use the political capital well then H3VST. We will need as much support as we can handle.+

+I shall endeavor to do so.+ The Tech Priest gave TalOS a bow as he heeded the words spoken.

TalOS gave a solemn nod as he began moving, +I shall be leaving soon, I did not plan to stay upon Mars long and I shall not do so. I wish you the blessings of the Machine God.+

+Thank you for the prayer, Arch Dominus.+ H3VST declared as he gave the Primarch a solemn bow.

The Reconquista Fleet was upon a scale rarely ever seen from groups outside of the Emperor’s personal exploratory fleet. Going through space the fleet numbered two hundred and fifty in size. Many of these ships bore the mark of Mars upon them but so many more of them carried the brand of other Forge Worlds.

Such a fleet of course had a monsterous upkeep. To sustain such a fleet TalOS needed roughly a quarter of these ships searching and extracting their weight in fuel. This might have been a trying item for even a Primarch to manage but with thousands of Magos ranked Tech Priests managing such tasks they were able to easily retrieve their fuel sources from nearby worlds of both the Imperial and Mechanicum kind.

The one thing that TalOS could take pride in was the fact that each and everyone one of the ships and Priests wore a mark of red upon their robes and hulls. No longer was the color red belonging to Mars but instead all who pledged themselves to fighting the enemies of man and searching for Technology on the far outstretches of the Galaxy.

+How are you feeling?+ UZ1 asked TalOS as they walked the halls of their lone cruiser.

+The weight of an entire Crusade has been placed on my shoulders.+ TalOS declared as he thought to himself for another moment, +But it feels natural. This was what I was built to do.+

+Your brother said the same, but that was when he fights people upon the ground.+ UZ1 pointed out as she shined the Primarch a smile, +You are far more suited to be leading people.+

+Surely I have other brothers who will match me in the marks of command. Horus was simply not bred or raised for overarching command situations but instead being the ‘Spearhead’ as he referred to it.+

+It is odd to think of the Spearhead as an honor. The records I was able to find on Mars and Terra all indicated an above fatality ratio for all Astartes who took place in it. Beach head attempts should also be suited for those specialized in it.+

TalOS thought to himself for a moment as if trying to figure a reason, +Morale is the only concept I can see improved with Spearheads becoming a focus. If I also judge from my brother’s intent I would think the Sixteenth Legion specialized in such warfare.+

+Hmm, an interesting thought. We will not be able to employ such actions ourselves however.+ The Adept admitted as they continued down the halls.

The pair of them continued through the halls. These days the Cruiser that TalOS operated seemed to have the Tech Priests outnumbering the Servitors two to one, which was something the Primarch never thought he would see. Only the Servo-Skulls outnumbered the number of Adepts present as each Tech Priest holding even the lowest of ranks had themselves two or three of these techno-familiars.

There was one place however that TalOS knew was not filled with people. While he enjoyed the constant management of people and warriors, TalOS knew that he would not operate at maximum capacity without rest. Chatting with UZ1 he counted as an occasional rest but it truly was not. If there was something TalOS did not like it was doing something halfways.

+’As we cannot physically feel the Motive Force as of yet it will do if we can begin to observe it.’+ Declared UZ1 as she looked at the time systems present, +That is what you told me a few months ago. Now we approach a moment where that becomes reality.+

+It will be a while longer.+ TalOS admitted as he prepared a series of micro-scale tools, +The simplest method I believe we can employ is shrinking the oringinal Stasis Field. By doing so we can employ the genius of Ancients into our research to keep it divine and right.+

UZ1 gave a nod as she poked TalOS on the face, +We must remember another point though, how will you protect yourself?+

+Indeed. The Acillians can only do so much and so do the Astartes. The Blackstone will protect me from all Psychic attacks but it will not prevent psychical attacks and plasma. While my flesh is strong it will not survive the full frontal assault.+

+The greatest defence is to not be there.+ UZ1 admitted as she began processing the algorithms, +But if you are not on the ground doing test runs we will never learn.+

+Which means we must consider defence systems.+ TalOS followed up as he took a few moments from immersing himself in the ideas, +I have seen some designs on Mars that I believe can complete my Father’s work. Though these will need to be direct augmentations so I have absolute control over them…+

gonna make my suggestions organized. starting first with body/implants, then Armor, then equipment. anything flesh we replace will be placed in storage, just like our arms.

this is going to operate under the assumption we have reunited with most major forge worlds in the lore, i.e. Ryza and Metallica. if this is not true and we are limited to Segmentum Solar, Pacificus, and Segmentum Lucius (Gothic) I will revise.

every item listed is on the 40k wiki or is somehow from the lore and I can back up with source, some items are suggested with (modified) in the Hope's Talos can make it happen
https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Adeptus_Mechanicus_Equipment_(List)

BODY GENERAL
+Power Source: Atomantic Reactor strongest and most compact available to man, used in Custodes Dreadnoughts
+Size? If Talos can adjust his mechanical body to be Vulkan Sized (or even slightly larger than Vulkan Sized) that would he awesome. the dude is like a one or two feet taller than other primarchs
+Adamantium Black Carapace? - can we just make our whole skin have a layer of exo armor or replace with armor?

+Mechadendrites with Armor, strong enough to carry our body or even our gear ala Doc Ock.
+Mechadendrite Augments:
Anzion's Pseudogenetor (gives our dendrites master autopsy/surgeon ability on the field)

TORSO/INTERNAL:
+(Modified) Metallican Lung - Will grant us immunity to inhaled radiation and toxins. will allow us *optional* radiation breath. who says Mortarion is the only one who can breathe poison when we have a metal lung!
"And behold his breath was of invisible fire, and he breathed death but did not die, as he was scion of the Dragon"
+(Skin) Electoos+Voltagheist Field: part holy runes upon our flesh to invoke the motive force, part POWER. UNLIMITED POWER
+(Modified - Autocaduceus of Arkhan Land. we are in Sol and maybe he is here. it would be swell if we can ask to look at his heal stick and make a version of ourselves that we can implant. so we can self heal our metal tissue and even other machines with a mere touch.)
+(Implanted) Omnissiah's Grace - Will allow harmony and synchronization of multiple shield types and surrounding shields such as our armor or nearby vehicles and shielded infantry
+(VULKAN tier Lucian Flare) In case of emergency. Vulkan keeps his in a hammer, let's keep ours closer to heart. . .or brain as it were. His allowed him to be teleported across half the galaxy with some imprecision. can we do the same?

LIMBS:
+(six) Metallican Adamantium Arms (two) Metallican Adamantium Legs. With powerful internal servos they are the strongest appendages, and probably better even than Kastelans. **Talos will make sure of this and QM has confirm he can make a thing stronger than his natural body
?(Anti Grav Boosters) - Any chance we can install this to our limbs instead of just our armor? Vulkan fell from the sky and burnt to a crisp. should Talos encounter a similar situation, perhaps he could learn to fall with a bit of style

HEAD:
+(Brain - Modified) Cerebral Techno-Mitre - secondary cloned brain harness allows complex calculations even while our primary brain fights. Would be amazing if we can make it so that if our first brain is incapacitated, it can act as a backup second
+(Brain) Cantic Thrallnet - The finest strategic brain uplink will allow us even greater battlefield control, as befitting an Archdominus
+(Brain) Brain Jacks. Just like Perturabo!
+(Throat) Bionics of Veneration + Transonic Emitter: LET OUR VOICE BE HEARD! (we can probably literally shout people to death with this)
"Those who are Dragonborn shout death upon their enemies. To kill with a word"
+(Throat) Beta Wave Generator: Can rouse machine spirits and men to anger!
"And roar was as the Dragon's, rousing machine and men to rage against the enemy"

Those are my major body/internal suggestions. I'm avoiding nanite stuff until we find Glavia as I do not know if Mars has any of that beyond a Nanyte blaster which is more for disassembling things than repairing or making them

Armor coming up next.

ARMOR:TALOS ARTIFICIER ARMOR "ULTIMA RATIO"
(list focuses on armor will not include weapons that comes later)
GOAL: Maximum protection without compromise of speed and agility. The ability to say "only my creator could have done better". Perturaban style Termie/Dreadnought Armor with some Talos twist. Fit for his new Vulkan size, with planned modifications to the seat of his ships and Titans to fit. or to operate them remotely if we dont want to adjust the chair.
METHOD: Ask the Creator if we may gaze upon his Holy Custodes Dreadnought/Termies. the kind that can sprint, jump, and probably dance like an eldar. Gaze upon it with our technomantic eye and replicate. If he wishes, swear an oath that we shall not share such technology to any other save ourselves, and if permitted, our Steel Wardens (of whom UZI is an honorary member).
PLAN B: If the Emperor says no or we have no time, just do the best we can. Probably can achieve Perturabo Style armor in the very least

STUFF THAT'S ON IT:
TORSO:
+Another Atomantic Reactor: To power the suit. always keep backups.
+Atomantic Shielding: strongest available to man. We can start with this.
+Shield Modulator* ideally if we get the Omnissiah's Grace we can harmonize multiple shield types and switch between them as needed or make combinations as needed. if we do not have the time for this, do it later. If we can get one more yes Amberly Vails Displacer Field, though one day we should modify it to be less Tempermental and it's my preference for Shield B in care atomantic is out of the picture
+(FOR THE FUTURE) Only to add it as a to do cause I dont know if Mars has it or Cawl invented it but a Sacrifactum Autorepulsor to keep enemies outside of our melee range unless we want them there.
"And the prophet said: 'Stay out of my personal space'"
+Raiment of the Technomartyr - Makes weapons and cannons ANGRY an fires faster (on tabletop can take another fire action)
CPU: Cyber Familiar - higher functioning machine spirit to inhabit our suit and help us, such as automating suit functions, targeting, and battle assistance. (Not an AI)
[Later can upgrade with apotheosis to a suitable servants brain. then we can increase its sentience because that's okay]
Mark of the Omnissiah (request from a Knight House like Dutonis) - Device tailored for maximizing self repair protocols
>>
>>5294356
BACK:
Jet Pack/Anti Grav System - Like Corax', it has surely saved his ass many times and it will save our metal one. check if we can be permitted to use Custodes Anti Grav instead it might be better suited. if not just use good old fashioned Prometheum.
The Skull of Elder Nikola - Who else is worthy? Let the first Electromancer blast his foes as he had dreamed once more
+(Requested/Future Plan/Write-In) PROTOTYPE WALDENCLYFF DEVICE - Planned electromantic device based on thr Elders visions we would want to later mass implement for our troops. allows all energy weapons to be recharged remotely via electrostatic field generated by nearby vehicles or ships. effectively eliminates energy munition logistics and provides unlimited ammunition as tied to large vehicle or planetary reactors. which is ultimately in minic to what Necrons do I bet
+(PLANNED/FUTURE/WRITE IN) Prototype Energy to Mass Synthesizer. turns stored energy into solid munitions. bolter shells , bullets, rockets, etc. pairs well with Waldenclyffe device

HELMET:
+Mask of the Omnissiah - Makes our acillians and skitarii fight with indomitable courage no matter the odds (increases morale)
+Arkhans Divinitator - make a copy of this of Arkhan lets us. it helps us find rare and valuable technology

LIMBS/HANDS:
Uncreator Gauntlet - Technomantic Device that allows us to turn wrecked or ancient equipment back in time, if calibrated just right, to when it was in pristine function or even when it was a neatly made piece of parts
Omnissiah's Hand - Contains digital lasers. Laguns at our fingertips. more importantly provides insights into Jokaero tech and maybe a lead to find them. actually can we check if Mars has any Jokaero?

THINGS THAT FLY CLOSE TO US:
Repulsor Shield Drone: - Totally not practically the same concept as a Tau shield drone that's somehow given a pass by the admech. maybe theres a human brain in it so it counts as servitor.
Scryerskull Perspicatus: Analyzes a battlefield and converts all data into easily parsible binary, for even faster commands on the fly

Weapons in next post. Phone posting is so tedious.

Running. Climbing. Kicking. Things legs can do that tracks cannot.

As for two vs four, mostly personal aesthetic. Debatable if either is stronger or more efficient. But understandable we dont necessarily have to make them trad human legs but could make them two jointed if it permits increased speed and kicking power.

+SEVERE ARMS WILL TRY TO FLY BACK TO SOCKETS via Maglev or Gravlev. Tthink Iron Giant. As long as they aren't destroyed beyond repair they will try to get back on.
+ARM JOINTS should be omnidextrous. All joints able to bend in 360* unlike normal human arms, permitting ease of shooting backwards as well as forwards and in any direction (think IG88)

WEAPONS REQUEST:

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: “Kali, the Grievous Six Shooter”
̶N̶a̶m̶e̶d̶ ̶a̶f̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶c̶i̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶T̶e̶r̶r̶a̶n̶ ̶m̶y̶t̶h̶i̶c̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶a̶ ̶w̶a̶r̶ ̶g̶o̶d̶d̶e̶s̶s̶ Named after Kali-Linux Computer, which has a dragon on it, clearly a prophetic work.

WHAT IS IT?: Use of Superiority of Arms (literally). Emphasis on the mastery of six arms supported by plethora of mechandendrites and support equipment, as well as 360* fighting. Essentially meshes well and could be used for further inspiration with our gunslinging Steel Wardens

HOW?: Emphasis on Pistols / “Counts As Pistols” weapons which can be used in melee.
*Arms will carry energy shield bucklers to parry incoming melee blows*

Against an enemy with only two arms, we will prosper. For with one arm we can parry their blade, and with another arm restrain their hand, while we have four extra to fire into their gut, legs or head at point blank.

There are several strategems in the game which boost pistol fire, we can apply them to boot.

>>5294206
DEAR QM – Permission for "Counts as Pistol" to certain weapons?
Since Talos can be so much larger, can we have permission for more weapons to have a “Counts As Pistol” tag in Talos hands? Such as an Assault or Rapid Fire weapon? Perturabo mounted quad barreled Storm Bolters on his wrists and is regularly described as shooting them in the thick of melee in novels. Primaris Marines are described in the books as able to hold certain weapons one handed where firstborn find them heavy and have to use two.

SPECIFIC LOADOUT:
(This is just a sample of the strongest pistols I could find available. Talos could carry a variety of these in each of his six arms. Because Variety is Cool. And being the Gunslinger among our brothers is cool. And Gunslinger music is Cool)
https://youtu.be/kvd5Mrjq3jc

These are the three strongest human tech ranged weapons with the “Pistol” tag I could find.
+Plasma Pistol: It fires (1) shots with Strength 8 AP-3 and Dam 2. The temperamental classis. Can be Enhanced with Vent Shielding rule to remove the damage/death rolls on a 1 (i.e. this weapon no longer overheats on normal shots without supercharge)
+Eradicator Pistol: It fires (3) shots with Strength 6 AP -3 and Dam 2. Against enemies which S6 can consistently wound, this is the superior weapon as it can deliver 3 times as much damage as a plasma pistol. The Plasma Pistol simply being there for those extra tough enemies. IF WE CAN INCREASE THE STRENGTH OF ERADICATOR PISTOLS TO MATCH PLASMA PISTOLS SWITCH TO THIS BECAUSE 3 SHOTS IS BETTER THAN 1 (we could give it a Vindicative Machine Spirit which increases Strength/AP +1)
+Exitus Pistol: It fires (1) shot with Strength 4 AP -3 and Damage (d3). Not particularly impressive beyond its damage stat but it has a special rule: If you hit a target with a headshot, roll d6 and on +3 apply 1 mortal wound and roll another d6, on +4 apply 1 mortal wound and roll d6, on +5 apply 1 mortal wound. In theory with perfect hits, that’s 9 damage. I’d like to imagine this is basically Fallout’s Grim Reaper’s Sprint in gun form, and essentially making several well placed armor piercing shots into a targets head.
https://youtu.be/k2FovX0zVVE?t=44

There is an example of an Aeldari Pistol which interests me, if QM would permit Talos try to replicate it using STC means.
+Fusion pistol It fires (1) shot with Strength 8 AP -4 and Damage (d6)+2. This is higher strength and damage than a plasma pistol. Talos would not abide such xenos as having a better energy pistol and would want to prove mankind can do the same thing! If it received a Vindicative Machine Spirit that would be Strength 9 and AP -5. . .amazing.

*These Pistols could all be wrist-mounted, so Talos can fire them Perturabo style and still carry things in his hands. . .LIKE MORE PISTOLS. Or digital weapons to shoot from his fingers. Or melee weapons (Maybe)

SHOULDER MOUNTED
+Twin-Linked Servo-Guided Archaotech Gatling-Stubber.

Find an Archaeotech Gun that makes Atomic Bullets, which are a really fucking cool. Then just make the same device on steroids and churn a shitload of them in a belt, and fire it at minigun speeds to unleash a carpet of small scale atomic explosions as powerful as bolt shells but far more rapid fire. Perfect for clearing swarms of scum like rippers, canopteks, and grot hordes.

Corvus Corax once had to flee a mass of plague zombies when invading the realm of a Thousand Moons after their leader unleashed the Dark Age virus on his own people. Though they were but unarmed civilians, the sheer volume of them threatened to drown the Primarch. Talos believes if he had this weapon his shoulder, he would never have feared. For he would have turned the tide of masses into giblets of flesh.

Other Shoulder? (Left blank for suggestions. I'm thinking a long range weapon. You never know if we need it. Maybe a Beamer Melta)

MECHADENDRITE WEAPONS?:
Yes.
Of fucking course these things will be mounted with guns for extra firepower in all directions.

Tldr for Nanomachine's suggestions:
Full body augmentation with additional arms and full body augmentation. Extra arms will be added and full body armor will be implanted. Don't forget that this armor should also have a shielding matrix because why would it not have one.

Employment and Slave-Brains and Servo-Skulls to go around TalOS to take shots and maybe generate extra shielding.

For armaments along with the time guns probably going to employ numerous 'pistols' though isn't everything considered a pistol to a Primarch?

At first the scheme was a simple one where the two focused on the design of a special suit of body armor for TalOS. Though with a dreadful realization it was figured that there was a need for more powerful power cores. It was then a realization that the powercore designs that were gained from Mars would provide more than enough power to supply a far stronger and capable system.

Such was the starting of the massive effort that almost consumed the entire fleet in a ponderment.

+The designs from Columnus have arrived.+ UZ1 declared as she looked over the designs given, +Their anti-gravitation designs have immense merit. This one appears to have been taken from a mineral collection system that does not rely on the atmosphere but instead gravity wells of multiple stellar constellations.+

+Interesting TalOS wondered to himself as he looked over the design himself, +This could be useful. The Xanites have given us a design of what they declared a ‘Necromantic Repair System’.+

UZ1 accepted the data chart from TalOS and looked at it for a moment, +This appears to be more of a design for a Machine Spirit more than a genuine system.+

+It was developed during their battle with the Daemons. The design themselves does not tap into the warp in its making so I see no harm in including it.+

+Then we can use it!+ Cheered the Adept as she began walking towards a massive system of suspended parts, +We will want the Machine Spirit’s home to be based here, so provide it with the best protection that can possibly be given. For the grav tech, on the shoulders as standard?+

+That is my thought.+ TalOS answered as he walked over and moved a piece of metal to represent the device to be created, +It will need to be here.+

+Should I make the request for the devices to be delivered?+

+Indeed, and we might as well begin the implantation process once Magos Hephaestion finishes the proto-armor plates. They will be replaced once we arrive at Lucius but until then this will have to do.+

+Understood!+ UZ1 declared as they began processing the materials.

The Reconquista fleet continued its way through space at a moderate rate. While it was on the return to Lucius there were still a great many Forge Worlds to visit and acquire more Crusaders from. By this point, both those with and against Mars were for TalOS as he was able to stretch on both sides of the isle for troops.

The fate of the Mechanium’s precense was here after all. If they succeed there will be no question on if the Mechanicum was an equal to the Imperium for it surely was. Where it lacked super soldiers it was making up in both Skitarii and Space Ships.

This is what TalOS witnessed as he watched over the hundreds of ships that were currently in the Machine God’s realm refueling. They were orbiting a nearby Forge World known as Lexeos so that they could resupply the massive fleet and integrate the newcomers.

He allowed himself a moment of relaxation as he allowed the Magos to organize themselves. Already TalOS felt there were things stirring underneath him let them be rivalries or alliances. Such was the simple nature of having such a massive fleet and millions underneath his command. The best thing TalOS could do was organize the Tech Priests by their beliefs and thought processes then assign the most senior among them to command.

Such a measure was needed for the war to come. Once they finish the reconquest there will be a massive reorganizing and a likely formation of a Mechanicum version of the Astartes Legions. From there TalOS will need to put in measures to make sure everyone has a unified view of the coming conflict and an easy way to debate subtle differences in doctrine.

It was during this moment that TalOS’s connection to the cruiser lit up and TalOS’s mind changed dramatically, +Attention crew, Psi-Sensors detect an incoming distortion within the Warp. A fleet numbering five ships are arriving at Solar Coordinates [532164, 126611]. Records indicate that an Imperium fleet was supposed to arrive so place weapon systems on medium alert.+

Those that were in front of TalOS reacted instantly as other ships began doing as he declared. A great many other ships however only started reacting when the light based signal arrived to them. A great many of the vessels did not convert to Noospheric tech because they were waiting for authorization from their own Forge Worlds and it would also take years for them to convert. Such a thing TalOS simply could not force onto the fleets.

Soon the ships arrived in system. Five Cruisers total that bore the mark of the wolf.

The fifth legion, Space Wolves, were the ships that arrived in system.

TalOS looked upon the ships with a sense of confusion and wonder. Something he knew for certain was being shared by the admiral of that fleet. For the Primarch TalOS he was deeply confused but knew that the message from their fellows was likely already on its way. To make things a little faster TalOS had his vessel send out a ping to the other so that they knew who to talk to.

It did not take them even a second to connect, “Hello there, to whom do I have the pleasure of speaking with?” A rough voice that TalOS could describe as crass and weathered came through the system.

“You speak to Sanctus Dominus TalOS DAV1S of Forge World Lucius. Identify yourself.”

“You ever run out of breath saying that?” The voice on the other end hid a moment’s laughter.

“It have it on recording so I don’t even need to think out the title.” The Primarch admitted as he grew a slim smile, “Would you like to give me a full introduction to yourself?”

The man on the other end gave a short chuckle, “I am Primarch of the Sixth Legion, Space Wolves, Leman Russ of the Frozen Death World of Fenris. That work for you brother?”

“It does, I do not believe we should go into the Ritual of Identity Verification unless you want to go into it.”

“And how long is that?”

“Fifty questions that if vocalized will take fifteen minutes. All personalized based on information I received about you.”

“How accurate do you think that information is?”

Feeling there was a joke coming about TalOS fed into the connection a few sounds from his Machine Spirits thinking, “Sixty three percent with room for error.”

“Sixty three percent with error, so about half.” The other Primarch pointed out with a small laugh, “I think it's closer to ten but we can see about that during our feast in your honor! I hereby invite you onto the Talon of the Wolf if you still have your stomach intact.”

Holy shit it's LEMAN RUSS.

It would be rude to refuse such a request. LET'S FEAST!

We're probably going to end this whole escapade extremel bloated, drunk off our ass, and potentially beaten to a pulp in a fist fight. But it will be worth it.

Here's hoping we equipped our mechanical liver. . .

I presume one of those cruisers is "The Hrafnkel" or that's the ship Russ is inviting us and our sons to.

It's surely got a feast hall large enough to fit two legions. Or in our case a legion and a half (gotta link up with our boys after helping the fists).

I wonder how it compares to the Onus Probandi

The runes on their machinery are likely a syncretic blend of both Admech and Fenrisian
A lot more sparring rooms

I wonder if its colder

I'm trying to remember but when exactly was the Onus Probandi built? I don't recall us putting much direction into it I think it was given to us by Lucius. Another testament to Lucius resource prowess, their ability to manufacture a Gloriana class Cruiser where very few other forge worlds could accomplish the same feat.

In the end there was no excuse or reason to deny the Primarch of the Wolves’ invite. TalOS himself felt a moment of looking forward to once again seeing one of his brothers. Something that the Primarch would surely aim to complete several times over with others of his kind.

Knowing what was expected of him TalOS brought largely a cohort of Acillians with him. As the Primarch understood it Horus at the very least surrounded himself with Astartes and thus TalOS was prepared to present the same to Russ. He was hedging his bets however as some of his number included Skitarii and Tech Priests. Skitarii for army personnel and Tech Priests for their fellow Mechanicum cohorts. Among them UZ1 was of course in attendance.

When arriving on the Fang of Fenris TalOS’s bet was found to be correct as he looked at an entire honor guard of Astartes and the Primarch in the middle of them. The most immediate was unlike Horus and TalOS the man sported a massive mane of hair that was braided in several different kinds of knots. TalOS took it as less an act of a necessity and more of an artsman craft. He sported upon him the armor of a warrior and wore it as naturally as one would expect of a second skin.

As TalOS sized his brother, the other did the same. The man gave a wicked grin as if satisfied with what was seen before looking upon TalOS’s left arm. He did not bother hiding his surprise upon looking at a limb but seemingly allowed it to slip from his mind.

“Brother, I did wonder if one of the Mechanicum were playing a trick upon me when I heard your name.” The Primarch admitted as he walked over and reached out a hand to TalOS, “But you standing here before me, no matter how dim, only proves that we share the blood of brothers between us.”

“My people would not play such a trick upon you.” TalOS said as he reached forward and accepted the hand of the wolf, “I thank you for welcoming me onto your vessel.”

As TalOS gave Russ his hand the Primarch felt himself pulled in. In reflex TalOS activated a series of motors and flexed his muscles so that he would not be easily dominated by his brother. The two ended up drawn into one another at the chest.

What was a wicked smile to TalOS became indescribable as the Wolf King gave a booming laugh, “Your time with the Machine Cult has not made you weak brother. You never replied, did they remove your stomach yet?”

“Such a thing is too useful for our kind to lose.” TalOS answered back with a degree of certainty.

“It is! It is.” Laughed the other while patting his brother on the back, “Come, let us approach the Hall and enjoy our feast!”

Walking through the ship TalOS studied the architecture with an inquisitive eye. It was less he saw value in the sights but instead the entire place was different from what he assumed to be standard.

The entire interior was covered in wooden furnishing that would have made several craftsmen cry upon seeing them. Now TalOS knew that the Knights of Dutonis employed such furnishing so that their quarters were more like home but this was by far the extreme of that.

There was not a piece of metal exposed. What TalOS suspected there was plenty of the Machine God’s steel behind such furnishings the Primarch also noticed several pieces of the organic material was strained with the weight associated with construction.

“Enjoying the sights?” Leman Russ laughed as TalOS noticed his slightly longer teeth.

“Your furnishings are exquisite, unusual to what I know.” TalOS said as he took another moment to think, “This wood… did it originate from your homeworld?”

“Indeed it did.” Leman Russ championed as he slammed his hand upon the surface, “Nokian Metal Wood. A special tree from the northernmost regions that is said to be stronger than refined iron.”

“Interesting.” TalOS took a moment of study to examine as his feet ached the wood, “Do you know how a natural organism was able to achieve such strength?”

“Because it came from Fenris.” Russ pointed out as he took a moment to think, “Whatever survives on Fenris must be the toughest it can be. The tree grows in a brutal wilderness that hosts a great variety of tank sized bears. Only the trees that could support such massive beasts were able to grow in such a desolate wilderness.”
to the tree I would like to study them. If nothing else then for the sake of prosperity. Such an organism might hold secrets the Machine God left for us.”

“If the Spirits of Fenris allow you to do that.” Russ pointed out as they walked into a massive hall.

The place TalOS realized was comparable to the one employed by Lucius. Where Lucius’s was built for height this one was built for length. TalOS quickly counted what must have been several hundred Space Wolves and soldiers chatted amongst themselves.

“The guests of honor have arrived! Take your seats and fill for every soul upon this ship a mug of mead!”

The place fulfilled the phrase of Organized Chaos as well in the best possible sense TalOS could describe. Everyone in the chamber seemed to know some job that was allotted to them after repetitions but that also did not stop them from yelling at one another to get something or another. From what TalOS could hear, there were easily moments where each of them countered the other’s words and sent multiple men to do the same thing.

But they succeeded as several long tables were arranged throughout the hall as well as one table that looked out upon them all.

“Come, we sit together brother!” Cheered Russ as he made a wave for TalOS to follow.

TalOS gave a nod as he sent out a binaric communication to all present to take their own seats and mingle as best they could. The last person TalOS needed to speak to was UZ1, +Keep your attention on our table and study. We will need to make the personality matrix after this.+

+Understood.+ UZ1 confirmed while giving a short bow.

“Now wait there little one.” UZ1 froze as she turned to see the Primarch giving a champion’s smile, “TalOS, you would not know but it is tradition for one to sit with their thane or wife at the table. Is this one your wife?”

TalOS felt his brain scan for meaning in those words as the face of UZ1 grew red. The Primarch however still had the mental fortitude of one and simply asked, “She is most comparable to a Thane, but is officially my apprentice. The Cult understands there will be relationships between one another but we do not wed.”

“I do not see a reason she cannot be at your side then!” Cheered the Primarch as he laughed, “And what’s your name?”

Within a second of being addressed whatever was affecting her wore off, “My name, Adept UZ1 K00LT of Forge World Lucius! Thank you for the welcoming, Leman Russ!”

“I can feel the heart in those words.” Laughed the Primarch said as he walked over and gave a rough hit to her back, “Come, you are to join us along with my Thane!”

TalOS and UZ1 shared a moment’s look before going up to the table. Already there were several mugs and a massive beast that TalOS wondered came from Fenris itself. It probably did since the planet seemed lazer bred to create powerful monstrous creatures.

Four people sat at the table. The one that Russ brought up identified himself as Sargent Iska Roar, which such a name did not really ring hard with TalOS at the moment. He did not seem to be the most senior of the men but likely distinguished himself in combat by some means TalOS yet knows.

TalOS took a moment to glance at UZ1 who he realized seemed more at ease at the moment than before. Maybe she was becoming null to the meeting of several godlike figures and was getting used to it. Such a thing TalOS knew was to be the best thing to possibly happen to her.

“Attention, guests and my wolves of Fenris!” Leman Russ stood up to his full height with a cheer in his gullet, “Today we drink not just for our own enjoyment but for a glorious meeting between brothers. With me today is Sanctus Dominus TalOS DAV1S and his apprentice Adept UZ1, along with all his sons and comrades he had brought with him!”

Upon those words a cheer went through the entire chamber as both Space Wolves and soldiers all gave a cheer of acceptance. TalOS allowed himself a moment to bask in the glory of being the center of such cheers but did not allow such indulgence to get into his head.

“We drink for brotherhood and companionship!”

And like that several cries went through the room that roughly sounded like the words that the Primarch announced. TalOS himself gave such a call accepting the mood of things before taking a drink out of the mug that he was given.

It only took the Primarch a moment to feel out the taste and the history. The most biting of them all was not how the mead was made but the cold homeland that the berries and honey were somehow harvested from. It was such a cold place, but for a moment TalOS felt the titanic forces that quaked under such a planet.

Mimicking his brother TalOS finished his drink. He could feel the chemical cocktail that made this drink possible begin working within his systems as he glanced as a now satisfied Leman Russ.

Welp, there goes that idea. I had hoped it could be like in the Mechanicum Novel where an entire planet of techpriests specifically arrange genetic and political marriages to ensure superior offspring and they kick you out if you deviate from the order, or alliances between Magos dynasties given we are effectively like nobles of Lucius, but so be it.

Very thoughtful and attentive of Russ to recognize UZ1's significance to us, and true to his character to address it openly without beating around the bush. We should be aware that enemies will likely soon figure out the same.

We do have Mom and Dad, whom we explicitly call "Mom" and "Dad" so the idea of a pair raising a child isn't at all unheard of. They have a relationship, but maybe they call it something else.

Perhaps Talos means "the Mechanicus does not wed in the traditional sense"
>>
>>5296397
If you're wondering, in 'Know no Fear' its where a Tech Priest basically said what was above. I'd like to think the closest thing to Marriage the Mechanicum has is 'Lifetime Research Partner'.

mmm.... drimks...
This is 100% NOT a Mechanicum course of action, for things that are logical are correct, and what's correct is sacred.

>>
>>5296397
>>5296475
I have an idea why marriage would only happen in the higher echleons of a forge world:
>Forge worlds have a feudal structure, with each forge being vassal of another and not so friendly with those unaligned to their overlords
>Marriage must have a function to it. Love is a reason to knot a couple but since emotions are not a priority for the clergy, it is not a justification to spend resources on it (Be it time, energy or materials)
>On (not so old, lmao) old times, the woman was the husband's property and before that it was the father's. On a forge world everyone is bound to the Machine God and what fealties they bind themselves with.
>Family... we reproduce because our life has an end, and Family is the institution to perpetuate our species. Even animals form them. Magi on the other hand don't have many ways to die Blaster, Volkite, Plasma, HERETEK, Laser... so they don't have an incentive to form a family plus having such a rich influx of neophytes means there is plenty to choose from. Of course the best option is clonning themselves.

So it seems there is one (1) reason for marriage and that is to solidify the alliance. If two masters of the forge have apprentices that they value very very much they might want to join them and organize the rite. To invest THAT many resources so the other forge doesn't feel like betraying them and to tell the rest of the forges that WE ARE MAKING AN ALLIANCE YOU BETTER SHOW UP TO THE WEDDING WITH GIFTS is a good reason to invest.

In summary, I teorize that marriage does happen in forge worlds but it is very rare. Two tech-priests that love eachother very much would have economical ways to simbolize the union.
>>
>>5296535
I imagine starting families and having biological children (even if their are vatborn) is more common among the Genetors.

clicks tongue "hey baby I did the calculations and our genes mixed together will create a child with a 6% increase in intelligence".
>>
>>5296343
>It was then that the drinking game began
>>
>>5296343
DRINK DRINK DRINK DRINK
>>
>>5296541
You kidding. Genetors no doubt even harass the other techpriests for not having enough kids and reminding them that my reproducing their offspring with 'so and so' would be 5% more intelligent than both parties. I would imagine their dream is to convince every forge world to make all their tech priests to give up their genetic sexual materials for the genetors to 'optimize' and experiment with.

I would bet my left arm that Lucius Genetors are especially bad about this now given how much 'encouragement' they have been given thanks to FAG and Astartes/Pariah genes.

>>5296535
It would also depend upon their individual views of neutralizing their emotions. Techpriests could arrange marriages based upon both Family lines and means of Apprenticeships. If you are Apprentice to so and so Magos and that Magos thinks that you would make a good partner to the apprentice of a Magos friend of theirs. They might consider arranging your marriage. The same is true with your parents and other masters. Such Marriages would be 'big deals' in Forge Worlds because of the number of resources, properties, research, data, and fealties that would be exchanged during such events. They also are likely to not be quite that common. As such marriages would basically be used as a means of sealing alliances between them.

Obviously this is something that 'older' techpriests would view as something that is more a young adepts game but they would still take an interest in the consequences of a marriage that would arise.
>>
To note the exact quote QM is referring to:
>‘Yes,’ she replies. ‘He was, I suppose, my husband. My life partner. The Mechanicum does not think in such old-fashioned terms, and our social connections are more subtle. But yes, captain, we were close. A binary form. I miss him. I do this for him.’

So it's fair as a generalization the Mechanicus doesn't per say put stock in that idea. Although, this is of course a generalization and like all things in 40k there are likely variations or exceptions to the rule. For example, Machinist Zouche mentions in his admech enclave:
>We don't choose. I come from Nusa Kambangan, where children are genetically mapped at birth. When they come of age, they are paired with a partner with compatible genes that offer the best odds of producing offspring that will benefit the collective

In any case:
#1 - It's still way too early. UZ1 is still our apprentice, and it's an incredible Faux Paus in any profession to pursue your subordinate in training
#2 - QM likely has some alternative in mind, moments or opportunities of significance with her, as he has mentioned the UZ1 quest is nowhere near over yet. We simply have other focuses like the war right now.
#3 - The way UZ1's face turns as red as her cloak whenever the topic is brought up is one of the greatest treasures in the Galaxy. We can savor it for a little while longer.

The fact of UZ1 and Talos being such high ranking Techpriests while absolutely demolishing the traditions of shunning their emotions but embracing them while keeping their flesh faces is one of the great dichotomies of his character and what I enjoy about Talos. He manages to be contradictory without being hypocritical, a perfect example of the duality of Machine and Man. In such regard, Talos likely will have options even there for a bit of dualistic thinking. He is the Son of an Emperor after all, and thus a nobleman and could draw inspiration from the Nobles of House Dutonis.
>>
>>5296773
Honestly, just because the Mechanicsu doesn't usually do such things doesn't mean we can't create a new tradition. One were people that were close for a long time, in a sense promise each other to stay together, work together and protect each other. Something similar to marriage, but not limited to love, sometimes born out of convenience or simply a strong alliance.
>>
>>5296773
He probably gets away with his fleshy not-metal-plate face because he wears the insignia of a Genetor and people recognize it. That's probably why Kelbor was not surprise how relatively unaugmented we are, he was likely expecting a full blown near robot like himself.

We will likely see a surge in the genetor factions inspired by us as the war progresses, for good or ill.

Maybe one day Talos face will have such advanced cybernetics from the dark age and utopia federation that they are superior and stylish than the bulky things used by modern tech priests. At least until we get proper synth-flesh or necrodermis or nanites

Just binged all the archives and I have a list of various questions
Is D3X based off Dex from Sky Captain?
Are the Mitu's Slorrs based on the form that Zuul took before being the Stay-Puff Marshmallow man?
Can Tal0S become a Magi in all the different disciplines available to a Tech-Priest?
What happened to all the STCs that we found on the Knight planet, there was some mention of trading them to the Lord Fabricator of Mars but not really a mention of what they are?
Also I've had some ideas for tech and/or units.
Getting Cyber-Mastiff handlers as internal security would probably be handy for ships along with Servitor Ogryns with implanted Baseline brains in them (the opposite of Young Frankenstein) also Geneator FR4NK3N5T31N when
While I'm thinking about it, it'd also be neat to make an Abhuman strain by ourselves for some kind of specific purpose that could be cool. Oh and if Tal0S become such a holy figure to the Machine God that the Machine spirits do all that they can to help him out.
I'm loving this quest and can't wait to read more.

Oh, well in Sky Captain and The World Of Tomorrow there's a character named Dex that gives the MC a raygun so I figured they were related, also noted but kind of a shame desu I was hoping for a Ghostbusters themed Deathwatch squad (Egon being one of ours, Ray the Ultramarine, Venkman the Blood Angel, and I'm sorry for how stereotypical it is but Winston the Salamander, Inquisitor Dana, and Psyker Louis)
And tangentially to the Knight cache, I'd love to see the effects of promising them each a planet for whatever STCs they come up with, especially if by the time of 40k each of those planets is itself facing a similar war as we interrupted.

Given our own ranged focus they wouldn't be so bad as specialist CQC auxiliaries and "morale officers" for our Null/Pariah squads. That being said, I'm still convinced the Sisters of Silence were devised because Malcador and/or big E liked the idea of combat capable null-maidens but LOVED the idea of standing in a room full of women in armored lingerie whilst enjoying perfect peace and quiet. As long as their vow of silence doesn't also include a vow of chastity both our troops and our Null breeding program would definitely appreciate us obtaining a few at the first given opportunity.

Speaking of the small ones, we should give some consideration to their religious/technical education and future prospects within the Mechanicum. Specifically I'd like to suggest setting them down the road to Electro-Priesthood, as that cult seems particularly attuned with the Motive Force and might lead to us teaching them aspects of Technomancy down the road.

The room quickly broke out in cheers and laughter as everyone finished their drink. Within seconds several Space Wolves were upon TalOS’s sons as if they were already brothers in arms. Such friendliness was something that TalOS had never seen in the reserved ranks of the Mechanicum. Only the Acillians would have reflected such moods between one another and they surely were not expecting for outsiders to welcome them like this.

“So brother,” Leman Russ turned towards TalOS with a smirk upon his brow, “If your people allow, I would like to propose to you a tradition of the Tulker Tribe. An exchange of ideas and mead where after one asks a question and he starts to drink, during which an explanation is given by his fellow. He only stops drinking when his fellow finishes answering the words and is given a question himself to which he drinks and the cycle begins.”

“There are no laws or doctrines preventing me from drinking.” TalOS declared first and foremost as he gave a nod, “Our ultimate aim is information.”

“It is a perfect match of our people’s desires then!” Cheered the Primarch of the Wolves with a boisterous laugh, “Then let me be the first, brother, how in the name of the Emperor did you lose your arm?”

“It was lost roughly a decade ago from this date that it had occurred.” TalOS spoke as Russ quickly began chugging the drink in his hands, “I was on Crusade against a vile Xenos known as the Plastoids. A Psychically gifted race of Pegan worshippers that had attacked Lucius with foolish ambitions. During our flight of retaliations we were attacked in the Warp.”

“The Warp!” Called out the Primarch as he moved his mug to gather more drink from the nearest Space Wolf, “Such creatures were able to attack while in mid transit?”

“I do not lie brother for I believe they were sponsored by a dark and evil God. The attack however was instantaneous as nine of their rank appeared at my side in an attempted assassination.” TalOS reached forward and tightened his newly reforged metal arm, “I killed three of them but they struck me with psychic plasma that I could not dodge. Only through the Machine Spirits inhabiting a series of Servo-Skulls did I escape like this and slaughtered the rest.”

“Its good to know that you have had your revenge against them.” Russ admitted as he gave a devilish grin, “Yourself, brother.”

TalOS lifted his mug and weighed it out as he asked his question, “Tell me of your planet, the Death World of Fenris. More precisely, the kind of monster fauna that exists in such a place.”

And with those words TalOS began his drink as his fellow Primarch began telling the tale.

“Fenris is a land of man and monsters!” Laughed the Primarch as he began reliving memories, “It was only when a she-wolf took pity on me that I even survived long enough to stand on my two feet. Even now I cannot help but honor her through her bloodline that now flows through all wolves that partner with my legion.”

“Beasts helped you live, interesting.” TalOS said as he took a moment from his drink to speak.

“To this day I do not know why she had done so. Let it be that she took pity upon a Man-Child, a bizarre blessing from the Spirits of Fenris, or even some knowledge of what I really was. Whatever the case she was my mother who was taken far too soon from me.”

“We can only pray that she was remade according to the laws of the universe.” TalOS told his fellow Primarch as he gave a small bow in prayer.

“For her service I hope she joined the spirits of Fenris. There is nothing we can do though as the dead cannot walk again!” Leman Russ gave another hearty laugh, “However there are more monsters than just the Dire Wolves who took me in. Let them be the Drakes that fly through the air like that of Terran Legend or the Bears that I spoke about earlier. Anything there is hostile to a fault. The greatest of their kind was the Iron Scale Kraken, an immense creature that I slayed with my two hands.”

“Iron Scale? I take that as a euphemism for the quality of hide?”

Russ only gave a grin upon that question, “No it was as hard as iron just as I said. While a waterbound creature its hide was covered in chichen like that of the Gregorian Turtles. I found that simple weapons made from wrought iron were useless against such a powerful shell and needed to be harmed on another way.”

“To strike underneath its armor or did you strike it with a bludgeon?” TalOS suggested as he allowed his mug to be refilled.

“You have both!” Laughed the Russite as he slammed his hand on his knee, “With my bare hands I struck the bonelike armor and caused great amounts of it to shatter. Reaching through the holes I made in its skin I tore out tendons and muscle until the creature could not resist going onto land with me. It was there that I finished it off with a brutal tearing of the heart!”

TalOS took a moment’s thought as he studied his brother closely, “How long were you underwater for the fight?”

The wolfman gave the man of machines a grin, “Enough.”

With that round of questions finished TalOS placed the drink on the table and waited for his next line of questions. With a drink in his hand Leman Russ did not hesitate, “So, brother, I heard rumors that you had committed Xenocide even before the Emperor arrived on your planet. How did it go?”

TalOS took a moment’s thought as Russ quickly began his drinking, “The Plastoids were a devilish race of creatures that employed a great amount of Psychic powers when fighting their enemies. Their use of Psychic power as a crutch was to the point that they did not employ anything that was technological.”

“Sounds like a paint.”

“They both were and were not.” TalOS declared outright as he felt his heart swell for a moment, “You see their assassination trick killed a large amount of our vessels and Domini. By the time we arrived on the planet we were left with five ships to take over an entire planet of psychically attuned creatures.”

Russ’s brow rose as he continued his drink, likely curious but not enough to remove the drink from his person.

“Thus we terrorized them. We sent several asteroids from the nearby belt to their planet in an attempt to batter and destroy whatever they had. It resulted in the complete destruction of their atmosphere but the creatures had equipped their planets with shield systems of the sorcerous kind.” TalOS gave a smile as he declared his next words, “So it was then that I led the assault with my Imperator Titan, Particep Semper.”

“So my brother counts himself on the ranks of the God-Machines of the Mechanicum.” Russ said as he finished his mug, “So you assaulted the city by taking it through the force of both your sons and your Titan?”

“I did.” TalOS declared as he gave a devilish grin, “But when the enemy came to retaliate I had already laid a trap for them. They ignored the stars above and by doing so did not notice the several meteors that were soon crashing upon their planet.”

“Hmph, I would have prefered killing them but I cannot deny what you did was effective.” The Wolf admitted as he gave a glance to TalOS.

“It was, and without an army the Psyker’s abilities went against them as their entire people fell into anarchy.” TalOS admitted as he gave a shaking of his head, “Its the cost they suffered depending on an Evil God like they had.”
orthy of a saga.” The wolf man said as he made a joking punch into TalOS’s shoulder.

no. representation is shit.
quality is vastly improved when it is disregarded as an objective.

Like how the salamanders are basically charcoal black mutants with red eyes. way more metal.

That being said, stories work with archetype and stereotypes that are tweaked to the story. as a rule that is how they work.

if you do not follow the patterns it wont get attention because in regards to stories and narratives we have just a few that will catch our attention, and then its the decor and costumes, which has to make sense and not just have one of fucking each.

We're probably going to get beat up real bad during the inevitable sparring match after the drinking contest, which we won't refuse.

I think of all the Primarchs, Talos fought the least because his growth was so rushed. Lorgar and Guilliman come to mind, somewhat, but even Guilliman fought barbarians to the north and his own civil war and Lorgar hunted his foes in the wilderness as well as fighting a giant death worm from the inside out. The plastoids were magically potent, but physically weak. And we've shot most of the strong enemies we encountered (for good reason).

I wonder if Talos would have downloaded some fist fighting data from Mars and wants to put them to the test against Russ to see if they are worth anything, or if they can be improved. Which Russ will likely demonstrate very well.

A pity we hadn't the chance to augment oursevles heavily prior to this, Russ against our Mechanical form in a friendly match would be a sight to behold indeed.

We are gonna lose that, just hope its not to bad for Russ to complain or view us badly.
Iirc the training to pilot a titan involved some self defense training, so we have at least some basic skills, but not much.

Btw, i had the idea for TaL0S to create a fighting style based around dual wielding plasma pistols in mid and close range combat, basically Equilibrium but you also vent your pistols into your enemies faces.

That is 100% the desired effect I was going for with both the Steel Wardens and Talos upgrades lmao. Close, Mid, Range and even Long Range with our speed and ballistics trajectory calculations (hopefully coupled with enhanced Chronosense like Necrons or the use of Chronomancy).

What is a bullet from any gun, be it kinetic or energy pistol, in the perfectly stabilized hands of a sharpshooter with auger-eyes able to see thousands of yards away but a sniper weapon?

Barrel too short? Just use cognis bullets with internal gyro's to alter direction midair, or have the ends of the pistols have a magfunnel-array projector to ensure the bullet's trajectory is straighter than if it had been through a metal barrel.

And when it comes to short range melee combat, while we parry with shield and buckler, a shot to the belly is every bit as lethal as a sword stab. Only unlike a sword, it can also explode.

That's not to say we won't use any melee weapons. . .I would love to tip our guns with Aegis Energy Blade bayonets. Given they won't have any actual weight, it won't even affect the aim.

All big dreams for now, with many small steps to head to that end goal of Talos being the deadliest gunslinging marksmen ever seen. Something to make even Necrons look upon in awe. If we don't essentially become one

We are not actually breaking our promise I believe.

The whole "Evil God" thing is technically part of both our religions, our own as a Techpriest and Russ as a Fenrisian. It could also be interpreted as being metaphorical.

What would be breaking our vow is revealing the true nature of the warp I believe, something only we are privvy to.

i interpreted Malcadors pledge as one about ultimate goal of the crusade, at least without him directly mentioning the chaos gods, since TaL0S guessed as much already. The primarchs were ment as military leaders in the short term with their long term use being more ambiguous, but not as spiritual leaders, which might be part of the reason Lorgar got hit that hard.

And you are obviously right, to anyone that doesn't already know, mentioning 'an evil god in the warp' is likely just taken as spriitual mumbo jumbo from a religious sect that is tolerated, or like Russ probably took it a spiritually heavy metaphor for 'an enmy that has to be slain for the betterment of mankind'.

The really scary thing is, both everyone is right on this take.

If there is some benefit we gain out of all of this, it's the realization and acknowledgment of the limitations of the human body and a desire to surpass them. Not simply flesh and injury, but things like the fact that a humanoid only has two arms thus only two tools for attack, these limbs have limited joint mobility and as such can be grappled and broken if turned against their limited range of motion, if the eyes are incapacitated by bruising or gouging there is no backup vision, and because of limited visibility and the shoulders only rotate a certain way it is difficult to counter an opponent directly behind you or at your back.

Primarchs may be demigods among men, but they fundamentally have the same type of limitations of men even if those limits extremely high.
Whether its Guilliman wrapped up in Chaos Tentacles by Mortarion or Guilliman trapped in the arms of a squeezing Warboss on Thaos, or Angron pushing up against a Titan's foot but essentially breaking his spine and knees, or even Russ breaking Magnus organic spine over his knee. Primarchs are not gods and have limits. Improvements are about surpassing and bypassing those limits.

Punches have limited range? Install pile-driver pistons so they can punch further and harder.
Baseline joints have limited mobility? Fix that, and make them able to rotate in 360*.
Fighting a very good swordsmen who is countering your blows? Don't just block and hit with two limbs, get four more on your side. And mechadendrites and shoulder guns to shoot at them in point blank to boot.

Of all the Primarchs, Talos can take a different approach to being a better fighter. Not simply trying to be a superior warrior or more skilled alone. Improving the mind can only go so far, why not improve the body?

>>5298291
Fenrisians and Russ believe in a "Maleficarum" and that there are evil spirits thereof, which is very compatible with the Admech view on evil spirits. We, Russ, and Lorgar may agree on that point even if we disagree on the Emperor's divinity. I'm unsure how much Russ bit into the whole Emepror as Alfather thing, whether he permitted it or advocated it, but I can't believe it's anywhere near as explicit as Lorgar. Where as Magnus would just consider such warp spirits as beneath his concern, trifle things to be manipulated while more powerful entities to just be kept at bay but no major threat. Fenrisian Wolves and Tutelaries are very uneasy in the presence of each other, and likely our Machines which are sanctified to ward out spiritual presences unlike Thousand Sons ones which are probably modded to welcome them will also be at unease. At least, if our null field doesn't keep them away.

Such extreme degree of augmentation. I remember it was Russ' legion who killed the Olamic Quietude.
Even if we dont know about them yet, can we can convince Leman if he ever finds such hyper technology humans to let us know so we can deal with them? Maybe if we beat his drinking contest get a favor to that effect. We'd gift his legion handsomely in weapons and supplies in return. The quietude would be a goldmine of advanced bionics for our legion.
>>
>>5298363
By the Machine God, I hope we can find the Olamic Quietude first instead. That would give us the most amount of options when it comes to subduing them and taking over their technology.

They might have wrong ideas about human superiority being soley their purview, but they have absolutely the right approach to human augmentation and their heavy troops were the superior to space marines even if they themselves weren't Astartes.

Destroying them, or at least their knowledge, was a huge waste.

Eh, I can see TalOS mentioning the evil gods because he ran Russ' personality matrix as someone religious, so he would accept the existence of evil spirits, since he had already mentioned it a couple of times.
It's not like we described the nature of the god, only that the xenos had it's favor, they were a psyker society and were religious too.

Would it work if the pledge was agreed by Malcador to be "don't reveal the true nature of the Warp and the Chaos that lurks beyond" but talking about general evil spirits and gods and such as per Mechanicum/Fenrisian religion is okay?

We aren't really revealing any truth. Even Khan's Stormseers believed in evil spirits. "Taksha" they called them.

From the Khan Novel:
>'Because you both come from witch-haunted devil worlds,' Magnus said. ' The doctrine of unity is anathema to you, because you see the future and you fear it. All the talk of putiy and isolation - it can't be sustained. Technology will come to Chogoris sooner or later, and you'll have to put your folk tales away then."

>"Why must you denigrate them?' the Khan sighed, looking at him wearily."

>'Because they're nonsense, brother. Gods and demons and sprites and witches - you should listen to yourselves.' Magnus pushed back from the table, spreading his great arms along its curved edge. 'We call it the Ocean. It is a product of galactic harmonics, something to be explored. Some of its manifestations seems to be of a sentient kind, at least in outline, but that is not how things are. That is the way our minds make it appear - what they conjure to help us understand it. We must do our best to make sense of the vortices, and so what do we cling to? The old figures and archetypes, the ones we used when we were scrabbling around in the dirt of Uruk. Come, tell me brother, do you truly believe in these goblins of the warp?'

>The Khan regarded him steadily. 'Taksha,' he said. ' Yes they are real.'

>Even the Angel looked skeptical then. 'As in, truly real, or as a metaphor?"

>'Does it matter?" the Khan asked. He raised his hand to the light. 'What is this thing here? a gauntlet? A swirl of atoms? A mathematical description? it kills just as well, whatever the provenance.'

>Magnus laughed again. He did so often, and it was unfeigned mirth when it came. 'But some explanation are better than others,' he said. 'That's the point.
>>
>>5298528
I think the main way to break it is forcing someone to experience what TalOS experiences with the Warp and arguing about its total existence. Don't worry, things will get spicy but now is not the time for it.

Yes though, claiming evil spirits won't break it.

As the Wolf Lord began to calm himself for his great laughter TalOS decided now was a fine time to ask, “You mention you have killed such a powerful creature, do you have a piece of it in storage?”

Leman looked upon TalOS with a moment’s confusion before giving a more dangerous grin, “Of course I have them, as trophies to my numerous victories against a great many creatures. Many I do not have here, but many I never travel without.”

“Then guide the way brother.” TalOS urged the other giant of a man as he rose from his seat.

“Very well!” Cheered the Wolfman as he began walking away.

The two of them passed UZ1 and the Thane, the two of them talking amongst themselves. UZ1 looked at TalOS with a moment’s ponder as if to join him or not but TalOS gave a shaking of the head. Calculations told the Primarch that he would have far more success with his brother with the two alone now than any other situation.

“If you are worried about the drink I have plenty in my chambers.” Leman Russ declared heartily as they navigated the massive wooden walls of a voidship, “You handle your brew well though brother.”

“The Machine Spirits are trying their best to maintain my bloodstream’s integrity. I will be the first to admit that even they are losing the battle against the brew that you had created.”

“Hah! Then we will soon break you into a drinker! Hmm, but can I call you a milkdrinker when you consume oil?”

“Oil consumption is a minimal part of my diet I assure you.” TalOS told the man while presenting a small smile, “I focus on the consumption of water and non-processed Corpse Starch.”

Leman looked upon TalOS for a moment’s concern, “Have you eaten boar or bear?”

“I have consumed such foods twenty eight times in my lifetime, all when I was presenting myself to those outside of the Mechanicum. If you ask what I count as a luxury it would be processed Corpsestarch and I feast upon that two times a month.”

There was a moment’s disbelief upon the face of Leman Russ as if TalOS told him something far more devastating, “Brother, before you leave I shall grant you a part of my meat stocks. Maybe if you eat something more real you will grow taller.”

“I shall accept such a gift, but I assure you that Corpsestarch has all the nutrients needed for human and Primarch development.”

The wolf simply gave a shrug to that, “Well it better. It's made from people.”

As they walked into the room TalOS looked around to see a great many different creatures and monsters all hung upon the wall and laid out on tables. First he identified an abnormal lizard creature whose jaws were the size of TalOS and appeared to be as strong as him. Examining the chopping on the neck it appeared to have been killed with an axe strike to the upper neck.

On the other side of the place a massive aquatic creature laid upon the table with a massive strike running across its stomach. The creature’s nose appeared to not be simple bone but instead an interconnected network of carbon. It was formed in such a way that TalOS could guess that ceremite will likely not protect someone from its strike.

Another was clearly a form of abhuman whose size equaled that of TalOS. Its face was something that no craftsman would take the honor in recreating which caused TalOS to think it was truly the real thing. After all, who would stain their record with creating something like this?

“Enjoy what you are seeing brother?” Laughed Leman Russ as he walked next to the abhuman, “This creature is an Ice Troll by the name of Jarl Throggert. He was the greatest of all their kind that saw himself as the next stage of their kind's evolution. It was my greatest campaign upon becoming the High Chief to slay him.”

“Judging from his injuries and this taxidermy’s making you and him were close to equal.” TalOS said as he walked over and examined the numerous bruises and ill done mendings that could not avoid the eye of a genetor such as himself.

“Ha, he was. This bastard almost had me as we fought his foulness. Upon the shrine to his gods did we fight with our bare fists after breaking our weapons against the other’s hide. I made sure to break the shrine to his gods with the bastard’s own body.”

“And I am sure you are blessed for doing so.” TalOS answered him, “Though I will ask why a creature that should have developed something akin to an immunity to their climate appear to have been frostbitten.”

“Ah, your eyes are better than Horus’s!” Laughed Leman Russ as he happily walked over and opened a door. TalOS’s eyes widened as he saw the panel open to reveal a series of weapons that were hidden. Of course, the Tech Priest noticed the hidden chamber, but he could not guess the contents that were held within.

“I present to you a piece of my weapon collection.” The Wolf King made a mocking presentation as he showed his hand to the weapons.

“In the name of the Motive Force.” TalOS called out as he studied the edges of the weapons.

“These weapons are made of Helfrost, created from the Crystals of Heltic Glacier. Each and every one of them was created by one in the Russ tribe and are treasured above all else. While not infallible as you’ve heard they are something few ever see.”

TalOS took a moment’s examination and studied it closely, “They are… afflicting even the air itself with their presence.”

“Here, I’ll let you hold one. Just don’t go chopping at any wood since the firewood would be useless!” Laughed the Wolf King as he reached over and handed to TalOS a blue fire axe.

TalOS studied it for a moment and allowed his still organic hand to be near it. Even within the presence of the Blackstone TalOS could feel the crystal change the air around it into a different temperature. Clearly the effect this crystal had was not psychic in nature but something that was weighing in directly upon the Motive Force itself.

To think that another material, similar to the Black Stone, could be found in another region entirely. That TalOS found what was a true relic of the Machine God’s own presence upon the world.

“It is divine.” TalOS declared as he studied it more and more, “The edge was fashioned by one whose hands knew how metal shifted under the weight of impact and the crystal was shattered in just the way that it contains a single fine edge. And the crystal itself, its presence can be nothing other than divine.”

It was then that the wolf placed forward a suggestion, “You know, brother, I can give it to you if you wish.”

“At what cost.” TalOS instantly determined as he narrowed upon his fellow.

“I shall give you three competitions to choose from.” Leman Russ declared as he gave a laugh, “We Eat, We Drink, or We Fight.”

>All three, damn it!

I know we will never get to fight the Rak'Gol but DAMN they seem like a strong direct counter against the mechanicum.

>All Three

We will lose the drinking contest. but the Eating contest we can specialise in.
OVERCLOCKING!
>>
>>5298664
Then we'll just have to win the rematch after we get our augments.
>>
>>5298663
The new zoats are also seem a good counter for mechanicus, in a dark mirror sort of way.

That's fair enough mayne. Thanks for writing in general, enjoying it greatly, don't mean to nitpick

While us and Rus are quite different in alot of ways, I'm glad we're getting along, and I knew he'd respect us from the plastoid invasion.
>Sounds like paint
Figured that was some sort of expression wherever your from lol

> You've given me inspiration to make weapons from black stone. Another material that acts upon the motive force itself. (Blackstone exotic weaponry)

If we give him some plastoid crystals would that fuck with the fenrisian spirits? Either null or psychically charged
>>
>>5299222
psi candles shouldn't change anything, they are a small item with a minor charge and are completely unnecessary without a null field around.
A small null field shouldn't really effect them, since the amount of them in comparison to their presence on the planet is basically irrelevant. The Null fortress however could actually disrupt them somewhat if we leave it there for a long time.
And all that is if the spirits are directly linked to the planet and not for example to the culture that believes in them.

I think blackstone is brittle and not good as a weapon. Oh but let's make blackstone powder and put it inside a krak grenade. It will be glorius.

Force magnus to breathe powdered stone and he gets fucked, just like superman
>>
>>5299239
nah, even negatively charged blackstone wouldn't do much in that little concentration.
just like malcador and big E he wouldn't be to effected, but if you punch a whole stone into him maybe.
>>
>>5299239
The aztecs and mayans managed to make obsidian work, so maybe we could upgrade our omnissiah axe somehow, even if it ends up just being for decoration.
>>
Could we make a system of blackstone lenses to peer past psychic face changing and see the true null state?

The potential in blackstone is not melee weapons.

It's energy weapons, armor, and concentrated anti-life weapons.
>>
>>5299248
And they still got fucked by the Conquistadors steel. Obsidian's only good for cutting.
