The year is 3015, the Star League has been dead and gone for 235 years and conflicts still rage on.Waking up on New Years day bright and early with just a wee bit of hangover it is understandable that you might miss that this is not the body you went to sleep in the night before.Instead you are now an extremely fit twenty year old currently hugging a traffic cone and wearing a police officers hat. And your phone is ringing. You have been called to a lawyer's office for inheritance issues, from your father who you have never met, and well, your mother;s ramblings about him being a noble were true, apparently. Not to mention a man with extreme luck, having come across and abandoned convoy only to die shortly thereafter with extremely terminal cancer and radiation sickness.Twenty years old. That is what the civilian ID card in your wallet says. A just over twenty year old guy, looking at the streets after a bit of disorientation and searching from two sets of memories you recognize it is Geneva. Terra. ComStar.Talking with the Lawyers office you understood your father was also a Terran. Your mother was a StarCorps accountant, this made your head spin a bit as memories of her telling stories of old StarCorps glories from the thirty-first century and Tex's Talks of the twenty-first century intermixed.Reaching the lawyers office with a quick taxi drive you are intercepted by a massive grey haired man."Morning boy. Lets get you inside." The man leads you through the building and you end up in a maintenance closet. Understandably on edge with the massive beast taking up most space available you are relieved when he hands you a sealed case, with the words:"Your father and I served together and he entrusted me to make certain you get this. Whatever it is open it, carefully inspect it, close it and do not talk about it until you are reasonably certain it is a properly secluded place. Lawyers are waiting you at office room 23, first right after you exit the closet.">Thank him>Ask him to wait until you are finished with the lawyers, so he can tell you more about your father over a drink - your treat.Trying to open the case you find that it is protected by some kind of special thumbprint lock, and when you try to activate it it stings you with a needle. Inside it you find some star charts and some notes. It seems to be a place between Oriente, Andurien and Regulus, and features annotation like EXT-4D and BEM.Stunned you close it up and go to room 23.Also another chart to somewhere deep in the periphery and a mention of a large alien structure. There you are greeted by the lawyers who show you an overview of what you have inherited:>Five rolls of 1d6 (one for jumpship, one for dropships, one for Mechs, one for ASF and one for Ground Vehicles)and one roll of 2d6 (added to the sum of all previous rolls to calculate the number of liquid millions of C-bills) please

It would be the least I can do for your efforts. ""Sure thing, kid.">Room 23The two classically dressed lawyers started with cordial greetings and with happy expressions on their faces. "Welcome to our office Mr. York. I am Mr. Reginald and my this is my associate Mr. Michaelson. Our sincere condolences for your fathers passing." The younger suited man continued "While it is a sad occasion, please excuse our good spirits, however it is not every day you can execute such an impressive will." "Would you like to have some refreshments Mr. York?" continued the older man making the last words of the younger about a proportional commission barely audible. Sadly the lady has only one operable dropship collar, and requires some serious yard work. From the reports of the estimators, around 84 million C-bills. The Dropships are all functional but would also need some repairs to not look like they are about to fall apart, about 6 millions according to the reports, for a total of 90 million C-Bills should you want to repair the ships in full"At this moment the young Mr. Michaleson continued with the next part."Letting the boring and stress inducing parts and on to the fun toys part, you will soon become the proud legal owner of sixteen medium Mechs, twenty eight light Mechs, eighty combat vehicles - a dozen assault, a twenty two heavy, twenty eight medium, twenty eight light, eighteen artillery pieces, fifty five support vehicles, out of which 40 are ten ton trucks, and a battalions worth of jump infatry gear with SRMs - enough to outfit quite a force. I hear mercenaries are in high demand once you leave Terra."The older lawyer looked a bit at the younger one and waited for a while the youth becoming more subdued and embarrassed."That is an option to be certain. Your father beyond being an adventurer of some success also was a canny investor, his shares being liquidated prior to his death totaling 37 million C-bills. More than enough for anyone to live comfortably into old age with careful investment." At this he produced the old school paper documents and indicated a stamped and underlined section. SLDF grade war equipment all aside from the Jump and Dropships. Most likely chock full of lostech. And no one to crew it with.Especially the Space ships. Something that Mr Reginald certainly noted with his comment and offer, after it was clear that you were inclined to keep all the metal, at least for the short term."Regardless if you do the smart thing and sell the war material or the bold thing and try to use it what are needed are repairs on the space ships, should you want to keep them. There are running costs involved in even maintaining orbit or simply being space borne for the jumpship and port fees for the dropships that are landed.""Indeed it is also in our contract to proactively provide advise on this situation." said the young Mr. Michaelson. " We could try and find some kind of reputable crews for the ships at least should you want to contract our consulting services in that regard - we do have cordial relations with several Interstellar Logistics Enterprises, and even some acquaintance with Interstellar Expeditions and the famous Explorer Corps."Mr Reginald nodded with satisfaction. "Indeed Jump and Drop crews are the most necessary situation that should be tackled. I would suggest we look about getting a bare bones emergency skeleton crew out of whomever we can get - they will be temp hires with the options to prolong their contract should both parties be agreeable and then look towards what type of crews young Mr. York is leaning towards - with your approval of course Mr. York, this small thing will be free of charge - looking for a decent crewing from any of the three options will however require some funds to facilitate a smooth change or resumption of work for the persons involved">Thank them, but state that will not be necessary. You will seek some crewmen though StarCorp first - your uncle on your mothers side still lives and should know of someone. >Morietti's, Geneva, Terra. The old beast of a man did not wait either in the law offices our somewhere outside and thus you proceeded to Morietti's, head full of thoughts and theorems, be it from one life or another, but the picture was somewhat starting to make sense. It seems your father found a covert Star League Defense Force convoy, and going by the first case , one that has set up automated factories of some extremely valuable products. Far, far more valuable than everything else - provided you can secure it. The fact that this has been inherited by you and not the service he was in, a military service probably implied- on on Terra no less, means that his adventuring days were after retirement.Interestingly enough just this alone makes you think that he was certainly high up, to have his will respected and for you and the lawyers to not get black bagged, zip tied and bodies found in compromising homosexual positions that unfortunately lead the ground car you were in to fall into the sea.Thoughts about your narrowly avoided, and thoroughly disreputable, accidental death or suicide were brought to a halt once inside Moriettis you spotted the old gray haired beast of a man who gave you the blood drinking case containing the treasure chart. Seated in the corner, watching the door he seemed to be on his second beer, ashtray improvised out of the cup that coffee was already served."Hello once again Sir. My apologies for not introducing myself, I have been a bit out of sorts this day. My name is Alexander York, a pleasure to meet you Mr.. ?"The silver-haired gorilla answered through the smoke"Paul Wolfgang. Retired. Former Space Marine. And you are the son of Ion York, a great man who proved worthy of his blood."

You lit your own cigar. The packet more than half full for over a week, just like your uncle taught you, when others smoke or take drugs have one ready and do it exceedingly slow. Never more than the minimum to keep it up. Thankfully you are not a chain smoker like him, but the lesson did pay off on a few occasions to avoid worse substances."I certainly hope so Mr. Wolfgang. You must be aware of what I inherited and my lack of manpower to make it usable, would you have any suggestions"The response was immediate "Affirmative. I could see about either getting a veteran platoon of similarly aged men from my former unit.""Just one platoon?" a short question "More would be, obtrusive." replied by another short answer. "If from what I have talked with your old man still holds, the law firm offered you a freebie. I hope you have taken it. If not call them back and inquire about the best they can do - the best have standards after all." the laconic man suddenly became a bit more verbose and at the last part looking intently at your secured case with the starcharts. "Any plans for all that hardware?">I was thinking of selling or auctioning some of the hardware to get the ships repaired in a more tolerable state. >I was thinking of starting a mercenary company and see about doing some jobs with overwhelming numbers and firepower to raise the capital needed to fix the Lady"Nice enough drink I suppose, but since I am signing up with you I better see about rounding up some of those men. We will talk more once we board the ship", old Wolfgang said sweeping his eyes all around the empty room. "Transit times are always in need of distractions for passengers." With that said he raised himself from the table, you did the same and exchanged a handshake"Nice meeting you kid. Now we best go on about our business">Go to the MRB office and look for some prospective Manpower.>Go to your uncle at StarCorp>Optional (If Explorer Crew not selected): Call Reginald after handling things with your uncle at StarCorps for former Explorer Corps personnel (will bring ships to full crew status)

>>5283156In case people do not know who StarCorps Industries is, a brief history:StarCorps circumvented Terran Hegemony Mother doctrine via having totally legally distinct shell corporations in every other state.StarCorps then observed what everyone was doing when they started to build Mechs.StarCorps then created what some tried to do but kept failing producing one of if not the Heavy Mech, the Warhammer.StarCorps made the first official factory variant by partnering with GM who offered the dragoons logistics support and basically made a more affordable but similar, and in most cases better Warhammer upgrade.StarCorps also has one of the better Jump Infantry in the 31st century.
>>5283195As for our old marine, he is a ComGuard who i think officially are unofficial aside from some infantry formations for asset protection, and as they do not really exist definitely are not subordinate to ROM, the intelligence agency of ComStar who owns all FTL communication installation and is the largest interstellar banking endeavor.

>>5283129Going to the MRB to see what kind of manpower would be available at this time, or shortly if they are open to a contract. Another short taxi drive and you were at the office. There you, among the sparsely populated entry hall, you spot two colorful characters having a rather loud if unintelligible conversation of monosyllabic words, one with a prominent red bull on the back of his leather jacket and smaller version on the shoulder you can see while the other one looks the very picture of periphery barbarian, encased in a blue body armor , covered by a green cape and topped by a green haired crested helmet. Truly fascinating people the periphery holds. While they definitely looked tough that was not the requirement you were after. Your keen business sense telling you that you some things can be gotten a lot cheaper if you know how to go about it. Thus you proceed to the ComStar Acolyte serving at the entry of this small satellite office."Greetings Acolyte. I was hoping you could set me in the right path of finding reasonable mercenary histories""That is certainly possible Mr...?" "York. A pleasure to meet you." " Indeed for me as well. Any particular reasons or search queries?""I can not rightly say, I will know when the wisdom of Blake will light my path with inspiration, for I will have to travel a bit with such men" you replied noncommittally. "A wise choice. I am certain he will" the Acolyte answered while typing at his computer. "Please follow me" and with those words you were guided to a nondescript room and show to a computer. The Acolyte typed in a password and invited you to sit.
>>5284129Scrolling through hundreds of listings and wasting about an hour the keen eye of a merchant found what it was looking for.A former Legion of Vega Armored formation that was abandoned by its commander on a Lyran world in order to free up lift space for salvaged battlemechs. With orders to cover the retreat and fight on they did so until they managed to defeat the Lyran defenders, however said Victory was rather sour as by then the DCMS forces jumped out of system. They have swiftly created a mercenary company, called The Rat Bastards. They promptly took all the metal that could be towed, sold it to locals and chartered a dropship rimwards to the Free Worlds League. One Veteran Armored Battalion crewed and equipped, however the equipment might be of some questionable quality.> Rats Bastards available for contract, Veteran Armored Battalion (Veteran/Reliable). Approx 2 weeks travel time to TerraAside from a former Draconis Combine group the Inner Sphere sadly disappoints in any available offers that might be suitable to your needs.Sadly aside from the former DCMS the Inner sphere disappoints in relatively nearby mercenaries down on their luck. Providence it seems comes from the Periphery. With one interesting thing after anotherThe first listing originating out of the Magistracy of Canopus was essentially the remnant of a larger outfit, with only four mechs and mechwariors left, riding a Leopard and guarding a medical support company. The remnants of Majestic Marauders are looking mostly for small time contracts and the medical personnel are likely to split of and take civilian careers.> Majestic Marauders are available for contract, 4 mechs, 1 medical company, 1 Leopard (Veteran/Reliable). Approx one month travel time to TerraThe second listing is a space borne endeavor originating out of the Outworlds Alliance, formerly two Squadrons of Aerospace Fighters a Union CV, now one six bird Squadron of Aerospace fighters, with plenty of backup pilots, riding a Union CV due to and unfortunate docking collar and hangar accident. >Outspace Vampires are available for contract, 6 fighters, 12 pilots, 1 Union CV (Veteran/Reliable) available for contract.
>>5284134However the last two were true standouts among all that, and truly the best for your aims.Ones was a Taurian Mercenary outfit who in its last contract had to ransom its personnel back and leave the mechs as salvage to the Davions , members of a border raid that got too successful and could only go deeper into the Inner sphere eventually being ground down in equipment and subsequently captured for the most part. Almost a full company of mechwarriors and a dropship crew, Sneeds Savage Stampede sadly has no hardware any more, just elite personnel. The second is from a minor Periphery realm called the Marian Hegemony. Intially a mixed Mech and Infantry force it seems that after having several missjumps in a row they decided that fate wanted them to travel coreward, became mercenary and continued on their last contract saw them on the side of the Free Worlds League, but similarly the battle did not go well for them, losing most of their mechs and dropship in an ambush, however the infatry managed to recover the few mech pilots it still had in its employ, and retreat in good order to a friendly dropships where they hitched a very cramped ride, and a parting of ways. The Lost Legion, while reduced from its glory days still boasts an elite infantry battalion and less than a handful of similar grade mechwarriors also without hardware, but awaiting replacement from their former customer .Both seemed to be trying to fish for a contract on Terra if the two men you saw outside having their discussion. This meant that they were rather poor on funds as well. With these two you could have all Mechs piloted and an infantry battalion and bring two dropships to full crew. you just had to strike while the iron was hot.

>>5284170I am still trying to decipher the BT RPG, because autism hit me. any way the lifepath thus far is White Collar Kid who the dice said got immersed in culture and I decided it was lyran, giving me excuse to use the Lyran affiliation template.Prep School, where dice said you were the ''source'' of the fun stuff and became a budding unlicensed small time merchantTechnical College, with Dropship Pilot Field pick, where dice said you were top of the class, and got you some nice 2x +3 Skill points to any and a University or Military Academy invite.and then Free Trader where dice said you get 'In for Life' with some shady group or crime thing. I am thinking helping refugees crossing Terra from one great house to another to have easy access to dealers and the dealers coming already subsidized by their organisation to offer discounted prices this leading to most of those entering such transaction entering into the big embrace of a crime family. Terra after all has drugs on par with the Canopians , none of the production capabilities and why smuggle out drugs when you can smuggle in vulnerable people whom you wont have to manhandle and just open certain doors for them.anyway, i still have to do a lot until i figure out the whole system so votes will influence my allocation of electives. But thus far you are trained at least enough to not be incompetent with negotiations, protocol (terra/comstar?) and computers

>>5286195In all seriousness, this looks like an independent recon battalion with a premium set of integrated support assets. That means we ought to be really picky about out contracts and personnel, nimble like the proverbial mongoose, and let the artillery and disposable mercenary tanks do the heavy lifting. We need to avoid letting our own assets getting bogged down in line warfare as all this SL tech mech and ASF starter gear is quite literally irreplaceable in the mid-late succession wars era. That being said, the royal model shadow hawks are lovely chassis but configured like walking bombs so we should probably swap out the streak-2s for more medium lasers, especially since reloads will be nearly impossible to come by. Also we need to figure out logistics for the lb-10x ammo since that's not normally produced in this era either, but they are good enough guns to be worth the trouble of commissioning custom ammo for. Despite their AC/20 amd massive bomb capacity, the Stukas are too good to risk using in ground support roles, save them for decisively and vigorously sodomizing any current era aerospace assets that get in our way. Some of those Alacorns should be independently attached to current tech level heavy tank platoons, use them as command and fire support units for our Kuritans, letting them act as force multipliers for the other tanks while using others to soak casualties.

>>5286195Right now it does not matter what you plan on doing with all this hardware. What matters is some kind of security. Luckily you have been promised a platoon of Marines -well, Space Marines. But they should be tough and fierce enough even on standard gravity to make people think twice about messing with your stuff. Thus you call Mr. Wolfgang, inform him that you have inspected your planetbound inheritance and that it would be prudent to arrange for some kind of security. Something that he concurs with and tells you to wait right there until he arrives. You meanwhile take out your noteputer and adapt some of your previous contract forms for fast security guard employment, needing only to fill in the names of the persons, and all will be above board with their presence at the starport.Less then half an hour you get a call from Mr Wolfgang informing you that entrepot security will be asking you about a continget of men at the gates. You reply with the contract forms to be filled out by them men with attached delegated authority.Ten minutes later three groundcars arrive, unloading seven men, Wolfgang among them."Good evening Mr. Wolfgang. My thanks for your and your men prompt response.""Good evening. Thank some good drilling of our former employer instead. With me is Mr. Jankowski, Squad leader of second squad. They will be keeping an eye on things. Swich out with a fresh squad and so. The drivers will be in the area.""A pleasure to meet you Mr Jankowski and a pleasure to meet the second squad of the platoon""Likewise, Mr York. If you would guide us to the objectives..."You and the men make a less intensive walk around the areas of interest. Jankowski's men seem to be talking among themselves about some large machines things being missing. Mr. Jankowski silences them with the comment of 'Nothing is free bucko's' but some less than pleased murmuring lingers for a few seconds.Satisfied with the tour Wolfgang indicates that we can leave the men to their task and offers you a ride."Where to?">Home. Get some sleep. Tomorrow you have to figure out a way to not just contract mercs but create a merc company.>How do you feel about a 3 hour drive? I would like to visit some family. >>5286291>>5286307Gonna wanna refit the mechs for easier to replace and repair gear. Losing the vehicles will be a nightmare since unlike the mechs we can't simply salvage and repair them once their wrecked but even more modern variants if their heavy enough can murder mechs if you underestimate them. They just aren't nearly as mobile. Easier to retrofit the mechs but we can at least service the chassis of the mechs. That won't be nearly as easy for the vehicles and troop equipment. Trying to reload and repair damaged weapons/parts is gonna be hellish. Although it is possible to service the actual mechs themselves. Just don't ask for a brand new replacement. The tricky part is going to be using the support vehicles and equipment without it getting wrecked beyond repair. We can at least service the mechs and downgrade them with easier to replace equipment.>>5286430>How do you feel about a 3 hour drive? I would like to visit some family. >>5286430One sort drive to a couple of shops later resulted in two bottles of water, one emptied and now refilled with 2l of tolerable coffee and you were swiftly out of Geneva. And you where on the road to Prague. There were some comments about it being a longer drive to which the reply was 'only if you do not step on it on the mostly empty road'. Due to further comments of your new driver not being a racing driver, you managed to find a empty spot on a freight maglev train for some discrete service fees for the crane operator and the train conductor. While they are busy with the loading you call up your uncle to inform him of your late night visit."You are rather familiar with greasing civilian machinery operators, kid.""I am an reliable trader by profession Mr. Wolfgang. One in such a position must know how to ensure some measure of reliability""I see. They were very keen on seeing LAMs in action but it seems you got the Shadow Hawks, instead of the Phoenix- ."The discussion continues with presenting him with your initial recruits and asking ideas about how to best employ them, while simultaneously looking over various mercenary organisations funding and pay structures segments you are able to gleam on the networks. While Mr. Wolfgang admits his specialty beyond infantry and space ships is limited he does state the periphery heavy infantry will require instructors and some time to transition from one specialty to another relying on his experience in having to turn groundbound infantry into space marines and the time it required to adapt to Zero-G combat drills - he assumes the switch from foot or mechanized to jump infantry to be similar - at least a couple of months to get into workable state should the training be of a higher than regular intensity - and some degradation in proficiency level (Elite to Veteran). Would perhaps be best to keep foot and mechanized to what they know, unless you can not get jump troopers or want those men to become jump troopers for one reason or another. What he is more helpful in is creating several mercenary dummy accounts and fishing for job offers to enhance your crash dive into mercenary pay structure - something that it seems is truly and eclectic mix of salaried pay, salvage options and, or, percentage fees from missions.Three hours later and another personal service fee to a Czech crane operator and you are in Prague, where Mr. Wolfgang resumes his driving role to the outskirts. Once you start giving directions you notice he seems to have been familiar with the road to your uncles home in the neighboring village.

Wolfgang? Paul?"Takes one to know one" Mr. Wolfgang replied."Right. Asks Mr. Woflgang sounding mildly impressed."And more. >>5287153Under the gaze of your uncle and your fathers friend? you deliberated a bit on what subject to start on before electing to open with some inquiry about your origins first. You recalled that your father served in a military capacity but those memories were from a very young age and rather few of them."I do have a few things on my mind but the conversation I rudely interrupted was rather enlightening, seeing as I heard more about my father than I have had in years. Since it seems you have gotten in a talkative mood about such a sensitive topic, and I heavily suspect this is unlikely to happen soon, or ever I would like to know more."" Your father was in the Military, ComGuards, always present on Terra for only brief periods. Funny thing is he walked and talked like not just like brass but like a Mechwarrior, only officially the Comguards are just some infantry security forces, are they not Paul?"uncle Janos commented while opening a desk drawer full of cigars, taking one and proceeded to light it."Precentor Ion York, was indeed a ComGuard officer. His absences were as much work related as security related.""Let me guess, people didn't like him there either""Some did not, others did. Your dislike of him is at least understandable due to the situation you had no need to know.""Right. Nothing.""Affirmative."At this point you thought it best to get them talking in complex sentences again before descending into simple sentence statements."But who was my father really? Do I not have a right to know? Correct me if I am wrong Mr. Wolfgang but you did say I would prove worthy of his blood. Who was he?" Mr. Wolfgang took a noticeable breath, and seemed to deliver a previously rehearsed speech" Ion York, born Ion Sanders in 2939 the illegitimate son of Primus Hollings York and Carrisa Sanders, reclaimed the name of York 2995 with the private blessing of Primus Rusenstein. He was able to discretely marry your mother the same year, but starting 3000 affairs in the periphery demanded his attention as one of the men Russenstein trusted.""Something is wrong with that timeline a bit. Don't think anything in the Periphery has been burning for 15 years." uncle Janos needled putting out his swiftly expended cigar."You seem to be awfully informed about things Janos Rusan.""I have made it my business to get in the know considering my nephews crazy and unfortunately accident prone side of the family. I have not been wrong about that yet. Please continue. This sounds to be entertaining." uncle Janos replied lighting his second cigar and looking less than pleased.
>>5287483"In 3006 Precentor Ion York retired from the Comguards after Primus Rusenstein resigned. Before that he received a quest that has...""3006 you say? I was not aware you folk give dead spouses as retirement gifts.""We do not, and as far as I am aware she died of a stroke. As a rule that is not the MO it would have been used.""Had some practice in that field?""Such an act would not have been from our part. " at this Mr. Wolfgang turned to you "You are the grandson and last descendant of Primus Hollings York, heir to your father retired Precentor Epsilon X Ion York, discretely legitimized by former Primus Rossenstein. It has been both my honor to serve The Blood of York's twice bound by blood and oath.""Hold on. You ain't old enough to have served Hollings. You are younger than me or Ion. Also, ComStar titles are not inheritable. More over Junior here has a good thing going. Making contacts and deals, soon enough in a few years once he has some experience and proven track record he might get an offer from StarCorps that will place him at my side, and once I retire take my place and have a good shot at running the whole thing on Terra. Tell me you are not getting a robe instead of a serious job selling Warhammers that even a brain dead monkey can do and early retirement in a decade tops with more money than you will know what to do with and most of your life ahead of you.""I have not joined any cult, uncle" you reentered the conversation with a short statement"Good.""I have however considered it prudent to hire Mr. Wolfgang and a few of his associates as guards, as I am now in a position to start my own mercenary company.""As I was trying to say before you have interrupted me. In 3006 Precentor Ion York retired and when on a quest from Primus Rusenstein, a quest that has ended only this year but that has sadly claimed his life before being able to deliver it to Terra and share it with his son."Goddammit. What crazy shit have you roped Junior in? This is going to get him killed. You get him killed Paul, I will find something you care about just as much and kill them. Before making sure you are dead as well.""My aim is to keep him alive as much as you Janos. Although I find your threats rather impotent on the first part and superfluous on the second as should an unfortunate event were to happen to him I would not survive much longer.""Well, this escalated quickly" you once again intervened to lessen the tension."What did you expect Junior when picking at old scabbed wounds? Milk and cookies?""Some more answers and less death threats on the side.""You are jumping in his worlds were people tend to have accidents or just get shot or blown up without the curtains. Death threats are just common courtesy. Anyway, this can't be all. Like I said he was Ion's own personal shadow. Whenever Ion poped up he was somewhere nearby. Creepy if you ask me. At least they did not share a room and sleep together, at least as far as i know, but it wouldn't surprise me from the robed weirdos.""Right. Mr. Woflgang you did mention being bound by blood and oath. Would you be so kind as to expand upon that""Ha. Junior got you by the balls now Paul. Let's hear it."The Wolfgang's are longer time acquaintances of the York's. The custom is that a York will have a Wolfgang subaltern. The oath was one given to the then Primus Rosenstein directly to fulfill the missions of safeguarding the descendants of Hollings York.""So you have always been shifty weirdos. I always figured you were too well acquainted with Ion to be just colleagues. Childhood, yeah?" uncle Janos seemed to be going on on his own fishing trip. Mr. Wolfgang did not reply."See why I don't like them? Ion was the same. He had the charm to make Evelyn not ask questions, but I like knowing what is what, and he would clam up instead of confirming, leaving you only with half guesses. 'cuz we are family and he didn't want to lie or some similar drek. Fucked in the head their side I say.""You are a very abrasive and opinionated man Janos.""Because I am usually right."At this point continuing this might exploration into family drama might strain the old men nerves a bit too much. You suspected a man like Mr. Wolfgang was armed and you knew your uncle kept hidden guns around the house - its what he used when he taught you how to shoot, and where to store them discretely for easy but unassuming access.Better to focus them on something relatively neutral."Speaking of my father, he left me with quite a lot of stuff. Weapons, Combat vehicles, Mechs, Aerospace fighters, Dropships and a Monolith Jumpship."At this uncle Janos simply whistled while exhaling smoke, the smoke jet hitting your noteputer and secured case on the table between the three of you."That does indeed sound like a lot. It also sounds like you were kinda set up to do a mercenary company or something similar in that vein. I suppose there is more to this?""Yes, this is the full itemized list I have compiled"Janos Russan Rubinski was quiet for a time reading. Finishing his cigar he searched for a second and looked up at you, at Wolfgang and then back at you.""That is indeed some fancy gear you have gotten Junior. To bad when it gets wrecked most of it is irreplaceable."
>>5288403"I was thinking the same thing. Then I thought that my uncle runs the local Warhammer production and maybe I could have the mechs at least refit. Perhaps at a discount for a job down the line once my company has proven to be reliable? A quid pro quo.""Just the Shadowhawks I suspect. You show up with fully functional Sectors, that is way to shiny, and that will be found out. I think you would prefer if people did not find out too soon you will be running invisible mechs.""Something along those lines. Mr. Wolfgang would you agree that this hand without looking away from the document proceeded to take and light another one.The silence continued until he finished with it."Goddamn Motherfucking Assholes, Jesus Christ and jumping Blake's Blood on a pogo stick."That got everyone attention.Your uncle looked at Wolfgang and started with him "You know what BEM stands for?""It is a bit to vague""It's a thing. What thing would have a model series number BEM?"Wolfgang stared at your uncle for a while."Common, we haven't got all night""It is the Bug-Eye. Also known in some circles as the Bug-Eyed Monster""Fuck. That is ancient history. Fucking assholes." he turned to you with an intense look on his face. "Congratulations Junior, you have the coordinates to subaquatic autofactories of an invisible heavy mech and a spy ship legend. With this you just became a part of the big leagues whether you want it or not.""What?"
>>5288404Your uncle ignored that. Instead he produced a laser pistol from within the cigar desk drawer and pointed it at Wolfgang. Before it was pointed at him Wolfgang also produced one. "You knew what was in that case?""Very important coordinates to a SLDF cache.""This ain't no ordinary SLDF cache. This is as close to the motherfucking motherload as you could ever think of. People will break out the nukes to fight over this as soon as it is found out, and if they are not the ones winning they will be nuking it and continue to nuke it until the whole planet is glass if they have enough warheads."By this time you also had your own needler discretely taken out of the jacket and both of your hands beneath the table. People do not usually armor their legs, and if people have guns out it is best be prepared, depending on how this plays out."Affirmative." echoed the characteristic response of Wolfgang"And you didn't know what it was specifically?""Negative.""And where did Junior got it?""From me after I was handed the secured case from Ion.""And you never slept and kept an eye on it constantly?""Now you are being unreasonable and unrealistic.""Your acquaintances and friends could not have cracked it? Made a copy? Become aware of it?""They could. However it is unlikely.""Fine. Remember that threatening I did? Now those are promises."At this point you judged that it was the right time to intervene. Your uncle was less intent on getting answers and Wolfgang seemed a bit less tense compared to the beginning of the rapid fire questioning."I suppose if you are not going to be shooting one another, you could place the guns down?"Your uncle was the first to reply "Don't know. I am still debating if new identities and scorched earth would be a better path. You keen on taking this up Junior."" I am interested."
Warily they both let the lasers slowly on the table, and you retreated the needler into the jacket."If you are intent on pursuing this crazy shit I'd like to buy in. 65 million C-bills, my expertise, my vacation days - of which i have ten years overdue already, and facilitating whatever I can from StarCorps. In exchange I want a silent minority cut and a promise. You don't join ComStar.""Not that the offer isn't tempting, but might i ask what why exactly the not joining ComStar stipulation?""Easy. For all the stuff that can be produced there, you have really only one viable major customer that will buy, and not advertise it. The fucking Robes. Paul such an installation would require what rank in ComStar? Could he get one for presenting this find?""Were he to join now as an Acolyte, York junior would not be granted Precentor rank to oversee such a facility, for presenting such a find. Adept perhaps. Should it be staggered by first presenting the on hand hardware and then 'finding' the production facility, it would require a lot of work to ensure he would be named not just Precentor but the Precentor in charge of it""See? I say we fund its reactivation, and only come to with the product when we have some modicum of backup and enough product that they can not refuse.""I see. So just not joining?""Yeah.">Accept the deal or Decline the deal"Are there any unofficial ranks, or honorary ranks?" you tentatively ask just to make sure all bases are covered."Hah. Fine loophole, I will let you keep that one.""Demi-Precentor is what senior Adepts are unofficially refereed to and often do tasks that a junior Precentor might do, it would require a long term deception and the majority of the activity to be in the Periphery and at least four meetings for it to be presented as accomplished fact however I am doubtful of this course of action.""And it would mean twice as much commitments to your own workload to get this all done.""But it could be done?"
>>5288407"Makes no difference to me, as long as Junior is not roped into the crazy and is nice and cozy hidden behind someone. Prominent leaders of great powers have this nasty habit of getting killed or shuffled of into irrelevance when they shake things up. Anyway, I presented my offer, what do your side got to counter-offer?"Paul Wolfgang was silent for some time."Precentor Alexander Marillier was trained as a ship builder and designer apprentice in the York era. He is too valuable to ever retire. However he could lead part of his own Exploratory contingent, and if we were to meet up in deep space he would also be able to ensure the secrecy. However in case of showing up with compact Kearny-Fuchida drive ships, and the blunt statement of 'buy them', he would be retained at his post to train everything he could remember to future replacements""Finally a name I don't know" your uncle seems to be pleased regardless of what your answer would have been.>Accept the deal with Uncle Janos >Decline the deal with Uncle Janos>Angle to join ComStar. If we are going to sell mostly to them, might as well meet with some of them and have some other deals, since we might want to keep the explorer core members quiet and the implication it is a black op would be an easy excuse to have them retired into our own ops
I know it has been mentioned as a joke, but would it not be better to auqtion the shadow hawks and perhaps the alacorns to? They are esentialy collectible artifacts at this point. On auction of say 1 of each in each successor state, and then the next year or in a few months we come with 2 of them for similar results. Should net us way more than their nominal price and we can buy for them some serious heavy and assault mechs.
>>5290146The issue is Lostech has vastly better performance and specs while also drawing a lot more attention. Lostech mechs are easier to service and repair unlike other types of lostech but it's worth noting that some lostech variants are far more useful than others. Lostech phoenixes for example are amazing but their modern versions are crappy as they simply run too hot. A lostech Phoenix doesn't have that problem making them devastating. Its worth noting that heavies and assaults aren't always better. A firestarter mech despite being a light mech has the ability for ganking heavy mechs solo they are that deadly. It really depends on the mech in question rather than the weight class. As there are always shitty mech types no matter their weight but if it's a Lostech variant that can change everything.
So, the magical autofactory place is between Oriente, Regulus and Andurien. Drawing a very awkward triangle between the three there are three planets between it: Tiber, Avior and Fujidera. Also a massive amount of empty space, of course.

From what I can gather here it seems the notes say they require some materials and elbow grease to get started. 'refiling consumables to initiate startup' stuff like that. I'd estimate somewhere around 10 to 60 million C-bills worth of stuff and expertise to get them going but to determine that it will need an on site inspection. Still a pittance if it is similar to the output of Corean. Should spit out one Exterminator per week or so ""That should be possible. The plan was to create a mercenary company, and the Free Worlds is undergoing some kind of civil war or something similar, we can find some kind of job in the area, and then take a detour with the jumpship while on a supply run or something similar. We almost have the men, the gear , the ships need some repairs but other than that we should be able to start." you replied."Not quite yet." Mr. Wolfgang said. "They have not signed on yet, and while they have a very good rating they are different units. More than that they are not personally loyal to our young mr. York. Once assembled and signed on they will need a forge to unite all the components into one cohesive whole under your leadership. Then there is the issue of loyal manpower to ensure that in case of the unfortunate things do not spiral out of control - I might be able in one weeks time to get the rest of my former the space marine company to retire and join up, but one company might not be enough to keep a battalion of heavy infantry and one of tankers, plus the one or two mech companies and the extra support companies you might be able to gather."To this Uncle Janos proceed to present his own points "Hmm. In two weeks time I could arrange for some of the security heavy jump troopers to happen upon a good offer. Say, one company as well. More and then the security battalion might not be a security battalion training replacements. But that is not the only issue. We need a connection. Someone who was high up in our potential buyers employ and can talk to them in the same language and politics that they will want to take the deal and not send us packing."

"Today is indeed a wounderous day. Lostech finds of the highest order, setting up a conspiracy, Paul volunteering information...""You are the subject matter expert in this case, and when the subject matter expert requires information it is provided, with the expectation that they will come up with a solution.""Right, well Sims should be fine. Booted or retired under the previous leadership. Thing is we might have to read him in fully and ensure he is on board fully. Next we have to do the budget. How much to do keep liquid for activating the factories, how much liquidity for signup bonuses for the mercs, salaries for some technicians and engineers, I'll see about getting a few of those, and also the throng of astechs. Ok, so catching up. The coordinates our old man left us were to a fucking Bug Eye Spy Ship factory!? No fucking shit that is the motherload, forget the ship itself, the first successor state that is able to replicate the jump drive in those things has the ability to make proper WarShips.
>>5294523Yes. And we are practically a ComStar royal bastard line, and are about to recruit the former head ROM to be our introduction to the Primus. The plan seems to be get a covert deal with the Primus, hopefully former ROM head can impress on him to keep it hushed from the first circuit so we don't have to deal with rogue Precentor and after that we will be swimming in money. After that perhaps set a periphery world and try to move the factory out of the free worlds league. The other thing I would like if former rim head is on our side is occasionally recruit a small trickle of old has beens out of the explorer corps to study the factory and see how we can replicate some parts of it. Compact KF drive plus lithium battery, and on top of it null sig and chameleon light cloak and we could get clocked ships. However I think that will be the result of decades of work.

This is Mr Reginald calling in regards to the last part of our discussion. We would like to inform you that we have managed to acquire the required spacer crews as well as the expert technical support staff to comfortably keep the ships running without issue. This was done well within the approved war chest, only two thirds of it. Out of which, taking aside our five percent fee, the crews have been guaranteed a yearly salary commensurate with their skills. One and a third millions are now in an escrow account that shall release the monthly payments on the first of each month. Such degree of commitment, as well as some consideration was impressive enough to acquire the desired experience. Thank you for your patronage and please think of us when you require any other legal services. "> -1,332,000 C-bills in escrow account for yearly salaries(15,000x12= 180,000 JS crew; 12,000x12x5=720,000 5xDS Crews; 1,500x12x24 = 216,000 2xElite Technician Companies;)>-100,000 C-bills in lawyer 5% commission>-568,000 C-bills in miscellaneous necessities to facilitate (most of it bribes and hush money probably)
That was one particular piece of good news. One that you decided to share with your fellow table companions, still in somewhat in awe such a way to use money. A financial hammer if you will. Sure they used someone else's money as a hammer, but still there may be something to it. Outside of established mercenary units with extraordinary commanders that did profit sharing, most were salaried, and both had a mothly supply consumption rate that had a cost of 500 C-bills per squad, crew, or specialist like mechwarrior, pilot or technician. On top of that came the monthly administrative overhead, a percentage of the total monthly salaries and supply consumption. This was nominally 15%, but less fortunate or reputable units went for 10 or 5%. Some however went for 20% and saw some increase in morale. Thinking it over, going for such an approach universally most likely account for a 5% administrative overhead equivalent on its own. Meaning if you set the administrative overhead at 10% would be the equivalent of 15% with no morale issues and at 15% would be the equivalent of a 20% with some increase in morale. At least according to what some people said on some draconis basket weaving forum.Your uncle dispelled your thoughts on financial wizardry with a simple comment."You'll need five times those numbers in techs to maintain all the hardware you have, and have enough spare that you can salvage wrecks into working conditions. Never mind other projects. Make that six. If you have allies in need of maintenance you can charge them for the use of the spare time.""Luckily if there is one thing Earth can provide it's expert technicians and throngs of aspiring astechs. Anyway, speaking of hardware. Changing out your medium mechs. You got on them two streak twos and one ton of ammo. That should be four tons. enough for four Phototech 806c Medium Lasers. We can change them an l am able to make the installation on the house but it will cost us sixteen hundred a unit, if you want to keep the launchers and ammo. That would be two millions five hundred and sixty thousand cbills. If not somewhat less then a half at nominal values if I recall correctly, but, well these are lostech, so I think if you would dump them on StarCorps door I could arrange for a swap with no money involved. Maybe even have them consider dusting up LBX and Gauss ammo production files, and for that swap, not pay the gear-up costs of three times the price for the first delivery, twice for the second and nominal only in the third. If you are in a state with a StarCorps division.""I am going for a drive." Mr. Wolfgang stated. " If you want a ride to the airport, finish up.""Think about it junior and tell me once you decide."
>>5296076Leaving the home in Prague's periphery and being driven to the airport you make a call to arrange some repairs. One docking collar for 20 million C-bills, and fixing up the look of the dropships for 6 million C-bills. Those do have to look presentable.>-26,000,000 Repairing Dropships and one docking collarIn Geneva, at the MRB office you are unfortunately you only are met by the Acolyte and one mean with a gauntlet, and a short sword at the belt dressed in grey tunic, black trousers and boots."Greetings Mr. York. Unfortunately all the representatives were not able to arrive at the scheduled time."The unknown man puts his right fist to his heart and stretches out his arm palm opened and level."Salve. I am Centurion Patric Williams, Mechwarrior commanding the second Mechwarrior Century of our Mech Maniple. I regret to inform you that my Legatus and the Taurian Bull are in the custody of the Terran Vigiles for disturbing the public peace. May I impose upon your generosity to aid in the liberation?"Of course. Periphery people. There had to have been some kind of issue. You thank the Acolyte for his efforts and time and take your goodbye. On the road you find out that the Legatus, leader of the cohort, numbering 500 infantrymen and one maniple of 10 mechwarriors divided in two centuries of five mechwarrios, met with the leader of the Taurians at a bar and started a discussion. This went into history and then the Taurian had some critiques to the nature of Star League punctuated with 'the Camerons had it coming. If Amaris didn't do it somone else would have'. Such a statement had the very foreseeable effect. The Legatus was unhappy with the cessation of fine rhetoric and joined the Taurian in fending off the rest of the patrons using his cestus, the armored gauntlet, and improvised weapons on hand. The two subdued the unruly patrons but then in turn were subdued by the police. That the roman reenactor? neo-roman? still calls vigiles even when hints were provided to the current terminology. At any rate you think it prudent to call again upon the services of Reginald and his friends.Arriving at the police station you find that there are quite a few people milling about seeming to do nothing that note the gauntlet of your companion when you enter it. Inside you are immediately met by the younger Michaleson."Mr. York. Your arrival has unfortunately been noted. Maybe your companion here should not have worn his full ensemble."To this the centurion starts to speak but is immediately cut off."No matter. The two individuals are held separate from the general population, after they managed to get into a fight with the entire drunk tank. I've managed to argue that they be remanded into your custody, with payments for damages and the fine for disturbing the peace and rioting, with the promise that they will immediately and covertly leave the area and soon leave the planet. Please follow me."
>>5296078The three of you follow the fast talking lawyer to an office that reads Cpt. Hans Schwartz."Captain Schwartz, this here is Mr. York. As I was saying...""Maul. Shut it. I said I am in agreement. 3000 C-bills. They leave through the adjacent building back exit. Get a car there and leave before someone gets the idea that perhaps they should bring the guns. Mr. York, any other day I'd say it is a pleasure, but today I have to avoid getting my station besieged by the citizenry. Or some of my joining them. So, if you would please hurry up for all of our safety.""Danke sehr, Kapitan Schwartz.""Bitte schon, Herr York."Right again. Paying and collecting the troublesome officers you are on the way to the Starport. On the drive you have the opportunity to meet the two."Brigadier Sneed Smith""Legatus Boris Vasicek""Pleasure to meet you Sirs. As you might have gathered I am looking for men. Particularly skilled men, for I happen to have come in possession of particularly fine machines""That sounds mighty fine. We are decently skilled and are lacking in machines. What kind of machines.""I think it is best to show you a sample and you can then deliberate if you would rather find employment somewhere else or sign up with me."Seeing the royal Shadowhawks who were arranged to obscure the section housing the Spectors, and the collection of VTOLs and tanks they seemed suitably impressed."Judging by your pleased expressions I guess you would be inclined to sign up, with market rate for your skills?""Your guess is right for me""I am suitably impressed. No more improvised rides.""So, when and how many?""The lost legion is actually the second cohort, is consisting of five hundred mechanized infantrymen and a maniple of ten mechwarriors.""And I have two companies , a total of twenty four mechwarriors.""Your MRB file said one company and one dropship crew.""Yeah. I had the subaltern lie and pretend his company was the dropship crew- they did not get to the escape pods and the mechwarriors survived in the mechs. Some daring shuffling and we at least got one over the Davions.""Right. Good one. How much of a time to give me a final answer?""A few hours for mine.""I'll need two days to gather the men from all over. We have been visiting the artifacts of our spiritual progenitors.""Assuming the answer will be favorable, would you be amenable to an assembly of the troops here at the spaceport in a weeks time?""That should be fine""Yes"

>>5296082In the end with the surfeit of technical staff that will keep all the metal in working order you demurred in having the royal mechs refitted, as you are certain they could just disconnect the streak extra option and just use regular SRMs. Might have to get a first load of ammunition for them to not waste the Streak SRMs and they might be one ton of extra gear being hauled that does nothing but they should be more than functional.Seeing as now you had some manpower you started on the tedious work of bureaucracy, and considering the large amount of liquidity you had on hand it was an easy choice to go for the same method of metaphorical crowbars and bolt cutters the lawyers used to get Explorer Core people out of ComStar and into your private employment. It will also simplify payroll for the various officers and leave them thinking only of the distribution of the monthly living stipend and other administrative duties. The MRB files and documents where also a concern, considering that a Terran citizen starting such an endeavor was rather atypical. The Canopian mercenary remnants would perhaps do for a hostile takeover. They were not as exceptional as the lucky break you had on getting any recruits on Terra, but they would do just fine. >>5300640It was time to get some freedom from all the work and humdrum. Once back at the Spaceport the direction was straight to your personal storage cabin, and unloaded your personal equipment. The experience was interesting half the calming comfort of a pleasurable routine and the other half the exhilaration of the first time. In a weird way you were now both instructor and trainee. Strip to undergarments, slip in flight suit, seal boots on, affix grip gripp sandals to boots, seal gloves on, load on the vest, take neurohelmet under arm and walk like a strutting cock to your bird, well one of your royal birds.Flying a royal bird however was a complete new experience and that was a welcome contrast, it seems whatever mystical bullshit happened some things were still just as new. Pre flight check done, because although you felt noticeably luckier to not use game of chance to hand over money to others some things have to be done just right, you taxied to the runway while announcing your intention to the local control with a flight plan that will take you clear of any orbits in use.As soon as you got the go ahead with a push of a button the running engine roared and you slipped the ground.Accelerating to escape velocity you appreciated the heat curve of the aerospace fighter, your finger gently caressed the button of the extended range particle projector cannons, and then left it well alone. Best not to have a mishap.Once out of the atmosphere you guided the frame on the trajectory to a high orbit and sent a ping for the Lady of the Dark, it had to be the ship burning from the Zenith. She and all the dropships and cargo they carried was to be your ride, and not just in the literal sense.Where to direct her for repairs?> O'Neil Yards in orbit of Terra> Mercator-Campion Shipyards of the Belters orbiting Jupiter
>>5302826After a few maneuvers, figuratively stretching your wings and literally the aerospace frame, you started the burn back to the ground. Some things still had to be dealt with before everything is ready for operations. Some that are still logistical in nature, and others who, are more personal. On the logistics side you needed ironically some more gear. You had after all only 210 sets of jump trooper equipment. That was barely enough for a third of your newest ground ponders. You also needed mechwarrior and fighter pilot equipment and other various and sundry. Luckily you knew where to get those.Three years of private funded education while also serving as a belter militia cadet, you knew guns, medicines and other related stuffs were easy to get a hold of in the belter habitats. Thankfully you have been a fast learner and managed to work the system in letting your last two years of trade school be remote. That has fitted nicely with the less strenuous part of the militia training, and allowed you plenty of trips back and forth. Who knows maybe you can try and convince to get some pilots for your very sexy birds. You would just have to find a nice way to skirt BOTA as ComStar through the Bureau of Terran Affairs left the Belters alone to do what they want as long as foreign policy was not engaged in by the Belters, excepting of course at the request of ComStar, like with the Columbia incident. However that was something Belters also knew how to do, provided they would even want to leave the belts, because Belters really got everything they wanted out of BOTA. No one messes with them and they do not have to leave their nice habitats, except for asteroids and belts, and the void of space, and avoiding ungrateful planet bound wimps.Unfortunately that also brought you to the personal part of the equation. Cheap and affordable medical components and drugs from the belt, multiple trips and the way to finance your expensive ''hobby'' of playing ASF pilot meant you will have to handle some things. The eastern european syndicate counted you a reliable source of high value low volume items and consumables. That had to be settled in a way, preferably in a way that will keep the flow going without you here. Then there was a final loose end. A Underworld Lieutenant that did not like your effectively undercutting him, and reducing half his operation from drugs and girls to just girls. Of course he did not like it that you associated with non Terrans as he considered all those not of Earth non Terrans. Not that you can blame him, Belters don't like anyone else either, but unlike him they at least can manage to use the correct terms in articulating their dislike. You could of course leave him in the dust as you will be leaving most likely for good, but perhaps you should listen to the wisdom of an ancient philosopher that answered the question "What is best in life?" with three simple sentences.
>>5302831Landing your Stuka, and taxing it back in the warehouse you find old Wolfgang pushing an ancient man in a wheelchair inside."Good day sir, mr. Wolfgang.""Good day mr. York.""Hello. How do you think you get out of an old folks home without making people nervous?""I see. So who stole the body?""The mute mountain pushing this fosil around." the ancient man replied pointing with his walking stick behind him at Wolfgang who just nodded."We can do the introductions once we are all 'comfortable', as is proper but unfortunately I am tired now and need to nap. >>5300629Sorrt mate. Did not see your post once I started writing. .I do not particularly want to rewrite the same thing, especially since with Belters you can theoretically get pilots that good due to the whole -2 to TN for belters i saw.On the other hand it is a 3 to 1 for some kind of turning medlaser boats. and that part can be solved with two sentances and the mc being effectively 50% chan self insert.so, I will make it a redo of that one, but we will apply roman law to this and not common law, thus precedents are not jurisprudence just vague examples that can be taken at the judges, in this case OPs, discretion.see bellow the totality of updated options :>>5302826>>5302835Where to direct her for repairs?> O'Neil Yards in orbit of Terra> Mercator-Campion Shipyards of the Belters orbiting JupiterTutorial Campaign START>Mission 1a : Gearing up>Supplement equipment in the belt and either smuggle them to Terra or pick them up at the Belt once>Mission 1b (Optional): Alliterated Armed Asshole Acquisition>Convince Belter Volunteer Militia Pilots to fly with you. >>5303254> Mercator-Campion Shipyards of the Belters orbiting Jupiter>Mission 1a : Gearing upBut on the open market. They have plenty it seems, and are liberal with them as I understand. Try and get a good deal for bulk purchase.>Mission 1b (Optional): Alliterated Armed Asshole AcquisitionRecruit our unit, as they know us already. We bring in 26 million in businesses for the shipyards plus the guns, suits, and anything else we might buy. Try to swap one of unions for a carrier union. For this we will ty and recruit our unit that could be set to reserve while they fly with us. When they get back they can come with a delivery of four battlemechs for it as I do not think belters have that many mechs. Or something else as a not bribe on return. >Mission 2a: Ways of the Underworld.Buy some bulk drugs with the bundle of guns and gear, keep the combat drugs and give the rest as a gift to our boss. Maybe try and arrange it so that the union is crewed or captained by someone related to our seller, and give them the idea that they should practice landing in 1g occasionally. That should handle the logistics and get them higher volume shipments at lower intervals than we could handle as a one man operation. >Mission 2b (Optional): Bloody BonvoyageFly some scout Vectors around our enemies hideout, buy some spygear and have our new spy master practice the basics of getting Intel, get some a few of the marines and marians that can keep quiet for a trial mission and once the info is in park one of the EW vectors nearby with some men and show them how to turn on the EW to jam all communication while we fly a scout again to support a raid with its sensors and wall hack shoot anything that might be a problem. Get a deal with our boss so he can take over once we hand him the information. That should further endear him to us. Maybe get a few of the better girls as stewardesses. That should recoup some of the salary we pay them as they will spend it on in flight entertainment. >buy & install medlasers for shadowhawksWe need to get some xp for tactics, strategy, or protocol in whatever state we are going ply our merc business, preferably free worlds league I think since we have an interest in the area. Anyway we should be using mostly protocol, negociation and leadership mostly. Do what we are good at while leaving the on the ground fighting and spying to the professionals while we get in some vtol laser shots if required.
>>5303281I'll back this.
>>5303281just to make sure, the 'stewardesses' are intended to be the in flight entertainment as a way to milk the other employees of their wages, right?
>>5303254>>buy & install medlasers for shadowhawksPlease let's have this, Streak -2s are rubbish and sell for top dollar.
>>5304044Yeah. The amount we are paying on salary is quite the sum, even if yearly. Got to knock it down somehow. Also, I am tempted to have companionship prices be on the mid to low range for such services, and with the better skilled or enthusiastic girls we should keep this part mostly I. House and prevent as much pillow talk with foreigners as possible. Lose lips sink ships and all that. Also, do the shipyards at tetra and at the belt have some recharge stations? Terra got rebuilt to mostly SL era standards so I assume they have those. Because if they do, I want our dropships loaded with all the agricultural products the belters don't have but are fond of buying, Dock them to the jumpship and then have our expensive elote ship crews and navigators show of the skills by micro jumping from the lagrange pirate points of Terra to a pirate point near the belters. That should cut on travel time, and alow us to also load up the gear on the ships while they get fixed and spruced up. I expect the profits from dabbling in luxury food trade to cover two or three recharge fees and perhaps a bit more. Might be dependent on a few dice rolls, but why not cut down on the in system travel time, and make things go faster.>>5304080I think we are keeping them, probably to have all the parts for a real royal shadow hawk. Because those are collectibles, and any that survive our service or frankenrebuild with canibalized royal parts can be sold off not as battlemechs but collectors items.
>>5304105>I think we are keeping them, probably to have all the parts for a real royal shadow hawk. Because those are collectibles, and any that survive our service or frankenrebuild with canibalized royal parts can be sold off not as battlemechs but collectors items.Seriously no though, let's sell and trade them for petty political favours while pretending like that's all we found.
>>5304116Oh, I am more than game for petty political favors. We already need to have one the belters. This should indeed be on the table. For the dropships swap and being involved in the crewing option of the new belters dropship. Also as a naturalizer belter we might be able to switch our exclusive customer for lostech mechs to the belters militias instead of ComStar and avoid that snake pit altogether. One exterminator a week, at almost 16mils makes that something a bit under 832 Mills. Enough for us to swap the mechs for a starlord and some change every year. If it is one of the SL variants maybe even more, perhaps a monolith a year. Just from the mechs we can get ourselves a very nice jumpship fleet. I'd also like a union carrier dropship for every jumpship to play escort however and blast anything that tries to steal them but that is a future problem, once we get the lines running.
Rolled 3, 3, 3 = 9 (3d6)Right, so shopping trip first. I'll need quite a few 2d6, and i will apply modifiers afterwards. For starters we will need :So one 2d6 Administration (+3) to set up the whole logistics of it all. One 2d6 Negociation (+3) for Terran produce,One 2d6 Negociation (+3) for belter guns and gear. One 2d6 Negociation (+3) for belter drugsAll of them TN (Target Number) 8 One 2d6 Protocol Terra to do the bulk military supply licences so you can buy and sell in bulk with the militias systems directly for lower prices and to offload your own surplus. This one a TN of 9This is the whole gearing up, starting on the recruitment drive paperwork early that might affect the bottom line in a positive way and a small part of dealing with the underworld. With that i should be set. to go.Also, dice for the micro jump, 2 best of 3 on the navigator doing his thing.
An one more thing besides the drop and jump crews are you bringing anyone else?Do note that belters habitually escalate to usage of blades and guns even for minor joke spats between friends because medical is good and relatively affordable for such minor trifles as trauma. The other thing to note is that belters are a xenophobic lot, and your ship crews are basically explorer monks and nuns.
Rolled 2, 1 = 3 (2d6)>>5304485>>5305518Grab the taurians. They probably do not have the mech helmets and cooling clothing. Some of the Marians that are available nearby so we can vet if they are suitable for the planed criminal thuggery, and if our uncle managed to get some corporate recruits switch them with the Comguard marines so we have zero g troopers. Then get the spy master too, since we might need to buy some spygear as well and get all the purchases done once.
>>5305685Fuck. Can we re-roll?
>>5305688good question and something that i was debating myself. The standard rules say you got to burn one edge from attributes to either get +x to result (2x the burnt edge before roll 1x after roll) or burn it for a reroll. The alternative found in A Time of War companion is the edge save, that does not burn edge but you do an edge attribute check(2d6+ attribute value with a target number of 12) - this one pretty much guarantees that if you max out edge outside of a fumble(rolling snake eyes = 1,1,) you always save or get better. This one imho is rife for abuse.the other thing i was thinking is to do best of edge/2, rounding up, with priorities for fumbles and their counterpart of stunning success / miraculous feat (rolling double 6s means you get to roll 1d6 again and again if 6, etc, until you reach 30 for a miracle.)I think i will go with my own house rule since we have low numbers of participants. The good part of this is that i learned that in this system i can bundle skills up to the intelligence number to reduce the dice numbers required. There are some extra bits and parts but i think i am going to hand wave those away for an easier flow with the quest format. So, I am thinking get me 2d6 best of 3, I use the same dice for all the necessary actions for said update and we can get this show on the road.If anyone has a better option please say so.>>5304485after some reflection and revision dice>2d6 best of three

>>5303254>10+3=13, TN 8 >Extraordinary Success!"Take your nap, sir, and regain some strength. I think we are going to have a couple of nice two gee trips"The old man squinted at this. "Not interested. I was not in excessive hurry in my young days, and definitely not now.""Come now, I'll make it worth your while.""I dislike having to race to and fro, so lets see what you have in mind first.""More comfort in your golden years and less pains in your old years for a start.""Plenty comfortable here, on the ground.""And probably soon to be bored stiff, what with being dead and all that.""Hmh." Sims seemed to want to ask something but reconsidered. "Lets see what you have in mind.""Wonderful. You are also invited mr. Wolfgang"You had a plan, well a notion of a plan, and for that to work you needed to keep to some timetables. First, you recorded a message for the starship."Jumpship 'Lady of the Dark', this is the proprietor speaking. I request you perform a microjump to a pirate point near Mercator-Campion Shipyards and then proceed to dock for repairs."You contact the law firm to set you up in contact with the jumpship and as soon as you will receive that you have the message ready to sent. In a few hours they will receive it and proceed to repairs.Meanwhile you are rather busy. First calling your uncle saying that you are interested in buying and installing some medium lasers for your machines, while personally loading up five of each Aerospace fighters in the landed dropships to display the sexy birds to your unit. You also inquired about any replies for the security manpower, and being informed that at the moment you had a squad up for the job. Then came the second fun part. Creating a new legal entities in the belt, done via light lag and going active only once you signed it in person. On Terra you were using the practical classes brokerage licences, and buying commodities. Mainly beef, cocoa, coffee, chocolate and some of the older whiskey brands. Sure the dorpships you had were military ones and not the best cargo haulers but you were loath to go empty handed, and this was too good and opportunity not to pick up some funds to offset all the spending you had went through.5 Million C-bills worth of commodities, with a two day delivery at port for the belt. Even with light lag you managed to get a quotation of 30% returns once subtracting for fuel.Next was some manpower. You needed the Shadowhawks moved to the StarCorps facilities for refit and have the surplus also loaded up some of the men as security.
>>5309602For this you called up Brigadier Smith and Legate Vasicek informing them of a slight alteration of the schedule, and that you were wondering if the Mechwarriors wanted to test drive some of the mechs and some available infantry men for the customary honor guard. Afterwards there would be an inter system trip to have them all fitted for neurohelmets and personal cooling systems.Obviously this was not something they would postpone so you also rented the required neurohelemts for a day to make the move happen. With the move of the shadowhawks, that you saw mechwariors being suitably impressed, somewhat similar to yourself and the Stukas, Paul Wolfgang took the opportunity to meet the corporate jumptrooper squad, and having them enter the warehouse security rotation to free up a space marine squad for your planed trip. As you exit the Leopard , having loaded one of the Ironsides in it you are greeted by the Brigadier and the Legate."So, Aerojock? What happened with one weeks time?""Still happening, but after some reflection on how you came to be available for employment I realized you might need some additional gear, I overlooked. Neurohelments and suits. As to your first question yes, Aerojock, Belter Militia, thus why it instinctively escaped me how those would be missing.""That is true, when captured we were relieved of helmets and vests. Also Belter Militia? I was not aware there is such an outfit operating on Terra."" It is the military arm of the somewhat isolationist communities inhabiting the belt. I just finished with the financing of my own training.""So you are a fresh from the academy Aero Legionnaire?""Or Cornet?"Something like that I suppose, if they are a Pilot fresh out of officer school.""Right. I would have guessed an Aerojock would have preferred more ASFs than mechs and tanks.""We should also consider how we are going to organize the chain of command""Indeed. I shall reflect on that during our trips to and from the belt. Consult with you all and see about getting things in order. ""How long will that be?""We will launch tomorrow morning. Two days at two gees, one day in the belt, and another to day burn at two gees to get back our refitted medium mechs and hardware. The jumpship will be tugged at a clear lagrange point and awaiting our liftoff when the week ends." "That is some hard burning from some of the Dropships. And jumping from a pirate point?""I have every confidence in our ship crews. The Jumpship already microjumped from Zenith to Jupiter el four, proving they are up to the task."
>>5309604The next day the Dropship launch for a hard burn to the belt, loaded with 15 000 tons of agricultural comodities that speak to the american time capsule: beef, cocoa, coffee and whisky, 10 ASFs, 50 Roman larping infantrymen, all 34 Mechwarriors, a squad of space marines under Wolfgang and your new spymaster.Once you are clear of the Orbit you beam a message to the Quartermasters section of Metis military base."Specialist Master Rickles. I have a box of 2330 Jack Daniels you asked some time ago. Just left orbit and I'll reach Metis in two days. How about we meet up and taste a glass of it?"In about an hour and a half later you get the reply."Ah, Terry, you know you are the best Terry in my book. That thing is just what I need. I have to get the inventory in order. You got the proper schooling to deal with books so you know how it is - fiscal year end has to be done in march so warehouse got to be nice and clean by end of January. It will be a busy month for me having to liquidate everything we can't store any more and all that. I'll need some booze to wash away the memory of having to deal with all the stuck up regulatory commissions and the mouth breathing idjits in logistics."Of course he would be. anywhere from a third to a fourth of the surplus pharmaceuticals and weaponry around Metis was his actions of buying enough to keep production running, not fixing and liquidating in the open market. Kept everyone around happy and he pocketed a nice profit on the volume."Listen, Rickels I am switching to the reserves as I just started a surplus and salvage enterprise and I think i might help you, so why don't you wait before starting on all that work? I just might ease quite a bit for you.
