Gaol Quest: a text adventure occasionally illustrated. For your various (alleged) crimes against the Eternal Empire, the High Magistrate had sentenced you to life, and thrown you into the Gongalla Gaol: the pit of despair, the mistake of architecture and magic, the continent-sized holding facility. Thankfully, as per the required humanoid decency act, you are issued your mandatory spoon... for what good it does.Previous threads:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Gaol%20QuestPREVIOUSLY, ON GAOL QUESTYou are James Calaca, a violent rabble-rouser revolutionary who was thrown into Gongalla Gaol. There, you found allies: Petunia the ex-serial non-consensualist, Gobson G. Gobson the plucky goblin, and an amnesiac (?) yet sentient test dummy who you named Sierra, after a role model in your childhood. The last few days was a blur of activity. To save the entire prison dimension that is Gongalla Gaol, you have mined gigantic bones from under Goblinton; contacted the spirit of Gongalla's architect, Jorge Abraxas; learned that the four reality anchors were made from the corpses of four dead gods and goddesses; and found out you've carried two engrams with you all along. You've also acquired some sort of truth vision power; accidentally traumatized Pedro Rubeda yet again; fixed Frank, somewhat; and learned from one of the engrams that the Eternal Empire's core world, the Heartlands, was ravaged by an interdimensional reality storm - and thus the Eternal Empress is currently a refugee in Gongalla. So yeah, a blur of activity.
>>5273761Right now, you're on the way to The Crack, where you'll rendezvous with the ghost named Brody."Hey handsome, found out where we are?" Your partner-in-crime and soon-to-be wife-in-crime, Petunia, asks from behind you."Yeah, we're making good progress." You reply, holding a map that Borges graciously gave you. "We should be close to Wreck, and then we can continue to The Crack.""Right, I'll tell the others to go, then. Lead the way."You look back at your comrades - not all of them could join. Petunia says as she walks down the mound to the other members of the group: Borges and Ko, who volunteered to haul the realitynaut suits in their boxes, Gobson, who wanted to go on a trip together with Ko (and gets to carry half the bones in his inventory), and surprisingly, Pedro. Something about making sure Petunia doesn't go back to her old ways or something like that."Are we there yet?" Pedro asks, his inventory full of the other half of the bone materials."Yeah, we're close to Wreck, should be there soon." Replies Petunia, which elicits a nod from Borges."We are gettink halfway there, then." Borges declares, shifting the heavy box at his back.Another hour of walking through the gently rolling hills and mounds of the area, and eventually you see Wreck. A settlement built in and around the anomalous ship graveyard, its center is the huge Eternal Empire battleship hulk - rusting, and converted into habitation."There's the Wreck, everyone. She points to a ship laying on its side."Hey handsome, I bet Nemo would've liked it here. Maybe even fit in." Petunia quips as the six of you approach the establishment."Well, it was awfully nice of him to volunteer taking care of Nanna. I do wish Sierra was also with us, but she's got a few more goblin pageants lined up." You reply, adding a mental note to take Petunia to one of the matches."Frank and Bianca's still recovering - or so they say. I bet they're rocking Nanna's hut by now. Hehehe." Petunia blushes, remembering the events that night."Good thing the nuns were returning to the Ossuary with the Necrologue, they won't get enough sleep otherwise. How polite."Uhh alright... we'll be on our way soon, so we'll just order water, I guess." You quickly added: "Or perhaps Darkdrop if you don't have water?""Ah yes, feasible. Please wait a moment."The shark complies, and goes to prepare your order - just as the fox lady stood up."I think I'll be going now. Ta-ta, Maru." Is it your imagination, or did her left eye began to embolden itself? Nevertheless, she exits the bar in a hurry. One of the card players took a glance at your team and let out an audible sigh. "Just travelers, no worries, no worries." That's what she said, even though her expression told you she's still kinda skeptical.Meanwhile, the boogeyman sat up straighter as it looks towards your party's direction, and started vibrating. You began to wonder what is up with Wreck, as the shark returns with an unmarked bottle filled with a clear liquid and six shot glasses."Pardon me for asking, but where did you come from, and where are you going?" It seems as if you're walking in a straight line, Asshh homing in on The Crack in an inexplicable way. Thus, on the next day after you left Wreck, you see The Crack rising from the horizon. It is a literal crack in reality, propped up by massive steel supports from the city that sprang under it. Brody floats through the air, deeper into the city. You realized that you've ventured into the undercity of The Crack - unnervingly empty of people, bone white and sparkling clean, in contrast with the rust red of the huge metal platforms and supports. As you turn a corner, Petunia spots something green on your path amidst the white."Wait a sec, handsome, what is that?" she points to the object, which turns out to be... a familiar-looking potted plant. Maybe I could help mediate?"The erstwhile prince of Hell lowers his weapon. "Very well. Go, deliver your message." Surprisingly, he sounds just like a normal person, albeit with a sense of royalty and gravitas in his timbre.Taking your cue, you turn to the last Rubeda brother. "Hey, Pablo, was it? Your brothers are here in Gongalla, Pedro and Paulo. They say they're waiting here for you." You point down, where the rest of your crew await. "See? There's Pedro, down there. Paulo's back at Goblinton."Pablo's eye widens. "My brothers, here, really?!" He then takes a look at the masked woman behind him. "But... my duty..." He seemed really conflicted. The woman notes Pablo's distress, and was about to say something, when a movement occurs to your side.Lucifer has you at swordpoint. "You've delivered your message, and now you're available to arbitrate. But before that can happen, I happen to notice you're oddly well-armored - you did not just come here to deliver a message, haven't you?"Oops, right, you forgot to mention you were going to enter that crack in reality."Now then, explain your armor, and your motive." The morningstar asks tersely, his bone sword pointed directly at your neck joint. The armor's to keep us from dissolving in the gap between realities, or so I'm told. So please, keep that sword down, talking is kind of hard when it's pointed at your face."Lucifer gazes coldly at you and Petunia, and then at Pablo and the masked woman, before fixing his sights on you once more. "Save Gongalla? Like these others also claim to do?" He spots Brody flickering behind you. "You are definitely more prepared for this than they are. But your preparations are in vain!"The morningstar strikes a confident pose and then raises a question that might as well be an invitation for an ultimatum. "Why should Gongalla be saved? It is a miserable pile of trash in a rubbish bin, the residue, refuse and detritus of a thousand realities conquered by the Eternal Empire! Inhabited by the rejects, outcasts and unwanted, serving absolutely no purpose - there is no escape, even in death!" his voice rang true and clear."Why should Gongalla be saved?!"If you weren't sure this was a test before, you're absolutely sure of it now. You scarcely believed whose face greets your eye."I am... no, I was the Eternal Empress, Elena. I guess I am just Elena now." Memories of your time defacing her posters in Libertad resurface and gave you the confirmation that indeed, this is the face of your distant, longtime enemy. She then speaks again, in a voice way softer than your perceived notions about her. Not a single tone of imperialism, pride, or haughtiness. "I also believe you can save Gongalla, and maybe even the Eternal Empire, but that's just wishful thinking on my part. I've no qualms anymore, and I sincerely hope you can forgive me. Go now, for all of our sakes."She then turns to Pablo. "Pablo, let's go down there. Would you also introduce me to your brothers, please? I wonder if they are much like my most trusted royal guard, here."With mouth still agape from the revelation, you watch as the former empress descends down the ladder with Pablo, as Lucifer grins at your surprise. Petunia, however, takes the lead. "Come on, handsome, it's like she said: let's go, for all of our sakes!"And so, you, Petunia, and Brody cross the threshold.
>>5311188An infinite horizon of plain white stretches before you, with one notable, visible exception. You can see that there's a couple of faded yellow stripes on their face, and a mirror on their chest, bleached white."Ah, who is this approaching me? Could it be... visitors?" Their voice sound hoarse and tired, tinted with an accent you can't quite place."Well, we're here to fix you. Stay strong." You reassure the former god. "Petunia, let's unload the materials.""Ah. Then I will instruct you on what to do afterwards." The former deity awaits as you and Petunia removes the bags from each other's backs. After an inordinate amount of time unloading all 500 bones (seriously, these bags can pack so much), an obsidian mirror (uncracked), and the two engrams. One too many. Alright, in the interest of keeping things moving I have a quick question for OP: when you ask if this is the right godly remains, are you asking if we have the correct AMOUNT, or if we need to ADD OR REMOVE something? Not sure about the engrams, but Teszca is apparently associated with a lot of stuff including divination--would that match with Millie since she apparently has Telepathy per the last thread?
>>5315360The right deity/anchor, more or less, not the amount of bones (or deities). Although 'amount' might come into question in the next update.Soon will come the last CHOICE for this quest

You access her face-file, just to be sure."Ah, what a shame, handsome - she looks like a bright one." Petunia comments."Eh, she'll be fine, she's already dead."You then turn towards the deity. "Well, here's all the ingredients, what's the instruction?"The yellow-striped face of the deity looks on, despondent. "To tell you the truth, I'm so, so very tired of all this. I used to be one of the four pillars that held up the heavens and pinned down the earth way before Gongalla. So please, either restore me back to my full power, or kill me."The deity turns its head towards the ceiling. "To restore me, use all of the bones to create a new foot for me. Place the black mirror on top of my chest, and then surrender the engram on top of it. Or..."The deity pauses, then sighs before continuing. "To kill me, fashion a dagger from all the bones - then plunge it into my chest. That should do it.""Wouldn't that destabilize Gongalla?" Petunia, ever observant, asks."Perhaps - but Skadi, Durga, and Kagutsuchi could handle things as you find a replacement deity. I, Tezcatlipoca, am too tired. Have mercy."You distinctly remember the incident back in Wreck, with Pedro and Asshh.
