>What is this?
"The Mystery Dungeons" is a text-based role-playing game created to expand on the setting created by the spinoff series, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (particularly Explorers of Sky). Players isekai themselves into the world and become Pokémon, going on adventures with their newfound guildmates! SFW ONLY

>I'd like to participate!
Always feel free to join in to see if it will stick with you. People come and go as they please, but there are plenty of regulars, including artists and writers. Outside of the main quests hosted here on /qst/ twice a week, a majority of side quests, lore, and role play happen almost all the time on the Element!

>How do I play?
First, fate must decide which Pokémon you become: https://randompokemon.com

Settings to Use: Generate 1, All Regions, All Types, all boxes checked (natures optional if you feel like giving your pokemon a little extra in characterization).
Take a screenshot so we know you probably weren't lying—admittedly while rerolling is frowned upon, no one has any real issue with it—after all, it's just you and your consciousness to deal with!
Alternatively, if you're feeling much more truthful, go ahead and roll in the thread for your pokemon! (1d905). Some legendaries and mythicals have been dropped from the available roster. Assume that the box art legendaries are unavailable.

> Okay, now what?
Join the Element and read the sticky, it has the (almost) complete starter guide! It'll show you how to set up your character profile, create locations to play in, and record the lore of your exploits: https://matrix.to/#/#themysterydungeons:matrix.org

A majority of side quests, lore, and role play happen here! Otherwise, the two (usually) weekly sessions push the main stories along.

If you feel you might need help, feel free to ask!

Our next LIVE main adventures start on Tuesdays and Saturdays around 6:30PM CST in this thread!

Mistral has been assaulted by Sirocco the Vulpix, a doppelganger conjured from the scant rejected shadows of his personality. She had aimed to take his life and memories in hopes of becoming a complete entity! Now that her assassination has been twarted, she and her team has since fled into into the drafty Windswept Weald. Too busy collecting time gears to apprehend the outlaw among their ranks, the Sol Guild has left the task of bringing the attacker to justice to Lost Hope...

Charles's newfound build and reach allows him to pluck Scav straight out of the air, and achor himself to the ground with slime. Most of the rest of you manage to find trees to cling to while Sable digs underground, but Poli and Citrine are starting to fall back in the wind...
All of you notice a web across the ground ahead a few feral Gligar and and Whimsicott are using to get around unimpeded. You could do it too, but a sticky web could leave you vulnerable, and you'd have to find another way to get through the wind otherwise...

A bit too much surface area it seems. You can't step well enough to move anywhere you want...

Everyone else manages to dig in and move along just fine. About halfway through the web however, Astor and Bind cling to a string connected to a dense bush. A clicking sound can be heard from it as they put their weight on on the string, and immediately the bush erupts into flames! There must have been one of Sirocco's bombs planted within. The howling winds spread it to the entire web surrounding Bind and Astor in seconds! It's a fair bit too sticky to just get off...

Does that make ME murderously angry!? NO! I MOVED ON, I MAKE MY OWN MEMORIES. Trying to take Mistral's life away without his own terms is a DAMNED TERRIBLE THING. Someone's life is their own, and you have no say in it. So you either repent, and move on with your OWN DAMNED LIFE, or continue to antagonize us!"

The guild has Team Penultimate's items confiscated and their teammates in bonds, and quietly rushes them out of the dungeon before any loops can rejuvenate Dr Doppler or Milo. She's the only one of the three still conscious on their way back to town...

"Not to excuse our behavior, but you'll have to understand. My peers, no, my partners have daunting challenges ahead of them, and their backgrounds were not conducive to their success. These unfortunate two need nurturing and direction for their intellect and potential! That cannot happen from prison! For what it's worth, I am sorry we had to fight you for our freedom."
>>
Location: Outside of Windswept Weald's perimeter

Milo looks back at the dungeon as they exit it, escorted by the LHG team. She has her two teammates riding on her back as she slithers along. "I still apologize profusely for all of this. What I did as a Leader was wrong... but I believed it to be in the best interest of Sirocco." She gestures her head at Doppler. "The Doctor, however, could... care less. He has always been free-spirited."

The weather is still warm from the dungeon permeation. You have some time before you arrive back at Treasure Town.

"Please be kind to Sirocco," Milo asks. "That's the only request I have."

As the guild approaches Treasure Town, They find Team Paladins heading in the same direction from the opposite way. Aether the Pancham has a turquoise gleam about him.

So a lot of the Lost Hope Guild lost some, all, or none of their memories in the transition here, and this 'Father' took those memories, and shoved 'em in empty vessels. He... Brainwashed? Convinced? Manipulated them into kinda hating us and wanting to kill their counterparts, and to take our place or get back home or whatever, depends on the alternate. Thankfully, not ALL of them wanna kill us, like Kira or Leafa, but Sirocco here... Well, Mistral had all his memories, so Sirocco had none. And so, she tried to kill Mistral for the blatant unfairness, or something? Tried to take Mistral's place? Memories? I'm not the most sure."

"An attempted killing is a much more serious charge than anything magnezone typically has to deal with. "Sorry, did i say jail? See, there was this show on were..."
Astor explains in great detail how the "jail" is actually some kind of reality show where people is sent to a rehab clinic shaped to look like just a jail and how it works pretty well to keep problematic people outside od jail instead of the normal stats and how there's way less paperwork involved, in the middle of the filibuster he forgets what's he's talking about so he instead starts working on that great PJB sandwich he prepared once, then he remembers what he was talking about so he starts speaking on the criminal statistics on how Zoroarks seem to be a small group yet... he changes themes again to that cooking showdown he got invited to, how it is going to make his carrer go well over the stars and how is he planning to open several restaurants and a resort in volks using free labour from Blitz and Kira, then he corrects himself saying that he's going to pay both living wages while also leaving them a commision for every single guest, noticing that it was about to become dark, he offers to cook a spanish ommelete for them, he starts preparing it with some eggs he found in the road, salt, potato and more stuff, he guides them during the process on how to cook a egg, why you cook eggs to avoid salmonella, why you boil potatoes to make them less poisonus, how people used to create holes in the dirt to put oceanic water in them to produce salt and how big salt is destroying a ancestral artisanal work, he then rambles about chemicals in everyday food and how corn syrup was a menace to society, in the end he explains that he had never tasted corn syrup but that he was sure that it was the work of the devil in the UN, now at night, while preparing a fire, he rambles for hours about how the cold war was actually not cold and instead was very hot on proxy countries in sponsored wars, causing the destruction and almost causing the old world rapture, now that everyone is about to sleep, Astor is now rambling about the roman empire by some reason as filler content, he then starts talking about the irish menace and the end of the world, now that is about to be dawn, he talks about how several species evolve at certain hours and how it might be related to UV light damaging the several species DNA to make them evolve in a different way, now Astor prepares breakfast and guides them on how to cook a scrambled egg over the fire, how many oil you should use and how much salt it needs, now he talks about his cooking powers and how it might solve world hunger but how it also would ruin his restaurant chain, he starts rambling again about that PBJ sandwich and how it was actually not that good and how some crunchy peanut butter would be better but also points that peanut butter was barred after Maroon asked him nicely, he then remembers once again what he was talking about and countinues explaining why Sirocco should go with them to rehab
"... and that's why she should come with us"

Time: You're underground, does it matter?

After receiving a strange letter (made out of stone, interestingly enough) you traveled far and to one of the other continents (maybe) on the expedient services of the Lapras Travel Liner. Some strange entity only known as "Diancie" has forwarded you a message to arrive in her kingdom with haste and make it post. There's something that you all need to see urgently, apparently.

You arrive at the mouth of an impressive cavernous cave entrance and you head inside. You can see various rock-types and ground-types milling about on this long, paved road...

It feels hot in his paws, there's a powerful urge to just jam it in his-
"A-Ah!" he yelps, the Heavy Horn flies into his mane and embeds itself in Maroon's head. He shudders as the sharp pain quickly subsides.
"Arceus. . . What was that. . ?" He groans. It seems that it's just pierced the skin, held mostly in place the Arcanine's thick mane, but trying to remove hurts none the less.

Finally, you figure out what's wrong with that front entrance. There's even more Stonjourners just waiting behind the first gate! And... something ominous behind it.

Electing for the alternate route (Citrine and Vee do go rockily walking to the front entrance and was very obvious so they were turned away), the group walks through a long, dark tunnel, made of the same rock that Sable identified earlier.

Eventually, they come to the end of it with this elaborate and large cart system. Diancie is there, discussing angrily with Poli over the placement of a giant gold statue of a bird-guy.

"I Also Was Not Aware Frogs Had Beaks. Also Who Is Burghley. You Put The Statue Over The Cool Tracks That I Set Up On This Modified Mine Cart System And..." She notices the group arriving. "What. Why Did All Of You Enter From the Cool Ride Exit--"

She shakes her head. "Hoh-hoh-hoh-hoh. Lost Hope Guild. It Appears You Have Finally Arrived (From The Wrong Direction) To Get Your Asses Kicked. I Have Set Up This Mine Cart System So That We May Fight Most Epicly."

Mistral is still in the floating Geodude rock cage. "Finally! Guys! She's trying to destroy the world by removing all the ground from underneath the surface and making everything underground! It's... kind of weird but..."

"You Are Spoiling The Surprise Shut Up." She turns back to the group. "Also If You Lose You Will Become My Loyal Minions."

>>5268037
Ymir positions himself and anchors in the cart, shooting out a jet of water as he flies right up! He collides with Diancie and crashes back in the cart.

>>5268040
Charles coughs up the Acid Spray, failing to send it farther than a foot in front of him.

>>5268042
"Hoh-hoh-hoh--Get Off Of Me You Crystal Consuming Demonite Get Off Get Off Get Off Get Off Get Off-" She rips Sable from her dress and gems and tosses him back into the cart. "Remain Seated You Gemlin."

>>5268043
Steadying himself in the fast-moving cart, Escavalier aims his lances to a pinpoint and fires a cone of sharpened light! It slices right at Diancie who cries out, a shrill thing of both vocals and crystals cracking under the withering blow!

>>5268045
Diancie covers herself as she's about to be targeted, but watches the Hydro Pump harmlessly fly off into the distance. "Hoh-hoh-hoh. You Missed When You Had The Intention Of Hitting While I Did Not Miss When I Did Not Have The Intention Of Hitting."

>>5268049
Maroon hops out of the cart and starts running on the tracks! His legs thump and he jumps! The swing of the blade cleaves right through air as Diancie just floats out of the way! But the upcoming uppercut and faster-than-fast tackle hits right! Diancie looks unfazed.

ENEMY TURN 2

"Clearly You Do Not Want To Take The Wealth Option Otherwise You Would Not Have Attacked," she speaks, straightening her dress and summoning a glass to drink molten lava from. "Okay I Will Kill All Of You Now."
>Diancie (Calc: Level 65) used Diamond Storm! Beat her first roll to dodge it! (300 damage otherwise, flat)

She aims a pointed finger at Sable's cart. "Also I Will Single You Out Because You Are Evil And Attempted To Consume Me."
>Diancie (Calc: Level 65) used Moonblast!

"No Of Course Not Why Would It Be Powered By The Darkness I Am A Fairy That Would Be--" She's beamed in the chest by a more accurate column of swirling water. "Oh I See You Distracted Me."

>>5268074
The Mud Shot is sent soaring through the air splashing against Diancie's once clean sheen! She's all muddied up! Diancie looks on in disgust as she attempts to wipe it off.

>>5268075
Astor once again launches off from his rolling mine cart, wings spread in full, gleaming with a metallic sheen as they harden to the strength of tempered blades! Darting through the air, he strikes Diancie with a heavy and brutal diagonal slash from both wings, leaving a nasty crossing scar on her crystals! Crystal dust and shards glitter through the air as she falters, pained.

>>5268076
Charles coats his yo-yo in a ball of acid and grabs the end, swirling it around in an orbit around him. The yo-yo, sufficiently moving, is thrown forth, striking Diancie and hissing and ugly purple over her once-white-once-clean dress. She screams out, attempting to throw it off.

>>5268078
Diancie is nearly leveled with such catastrophic damage! The bottom of her fraying crystal chandelier dips below her original flight line and scrapes against the ground as she concentrates on staying airborne.

>>5268081
Diancie doesn't seem to bother with dealing the fast-running dog as Maroon bashes her with the sword! Her crystals further crack and spiderweb from the strike.

>>5268096
"Wait I Thought I Killed You How Did You Get Back Up And How Are You--" She's cut off as a hail of her own copied diamonds begin slamming into her fraying dress and broken crystals. They either deflect harmlessly or shatter against her body.

The air glitters with rain and diamond dust...

ENEMY TURN 3

Diancie is slowing down and speeding up erratically. Clutching her arm and keeping it up is already a massive effort. "I Did Not Expect You To Be So Strangely Suicidal And Also Be Very In Tune With My One Specific Weakness But I Should Have Guessed That One."
>Diancie smashes the ground with a Stone Edge, summoning a hazard right in front of Escavalier and Charles' carts! They'll need to jump ship and join someone else! (Share and work together!)
>Diancie points another finger and fires off a Moonblast shot at Astor!
