A newly minted trainer and camping enthusiast just starting out on your journey at the age of Seventeen after your father lost his job in order to help pay the bills.Last time, you made camp early to beat the rain, cleared out a black berry patch, played truth or dare, bonded with Holly, caught a Sobble and decided to push on towards Silveridge Town through the night, where you made camp by the roadside in the dark.
You wake up around when you usually do to the sound of rain pattering down on the roof.A quick glance at your pokedex shows that it's around about six o'clock and poking your arm out to reach your pokedex informs you that it's damned cold this morning, even with eight people, and a Blaziken in your tentThe reason why this is the case is made obvious as you look towards the door and see that Cinder has left it open again.Fortunately, you don't have uninvited guests this time.Still... If you go to close it, you'll wake everyone up and it's warm enough in your sleeping bag...And you walked a fair old way yesterday...What's the harm of a little sleep in?>Roll.

She says, handing you the bottle before showing you how to hold the bottle.Predictably, Nika has an appetite and starts on the bottle without much prompting. She drains it in short order, before yawning and settling down for a nap."Thanks again." You say.Kathryn just smiles."Don't think too much on it." She advises. "I just picked an egg at random." She confesses. "As for showing you the ropes... well. That's just obligation." She says prosaically as Holly comes out dressed and approaches you with an attitude of apprehension."Um, d'you want one of my balls for Nika?" "And unlike other specialist balls, they're no better at catching pokemon than a regular ball. They're just more comfortable.""Huh. Well, sure. Thanks Holly." You say, accepting the ball, before pressing it to Nika, who disappears before the ball clicks. You put the ball on your belt, then register her name in your pokedex. When you're done, the other girls have come out, leaving you and Gareth to get changed and come out for breakfast.while you eat, you look out over the surrounding scrubland:The rain has started pooling in some places and the edge of the road is looking pretty swampy and it's continuing to rain.A brief glance at the forecast confirms what you saw yesterday: It's going to keep on raining today."There's no point staying here, so we might as well make some distance today." Fie notes, echoing your thoughts. "The only question is, should we try and reach Silveridge today, or just try and get to the Roadhouse?" She asks."The Roadhouse is going to be packed out." Jean notes. "At least in Silveridge, we might be able to get a room at a hotel.""The Roadhouse is closer though. And we mightn't have a choice if it starts to flood." >>5236652>>5236675>>5236685It seems like today is determined to be a good day:The rain actually lets up about an hour after you leave camp and even though it's windy, you'll take a chill wind over humidity any day of the week.Between the exercise of walking and Fie letting her Flareon and Litleo out alternatively for exercise while Cinder wanders as she wills among your group, you don't really notice the wind that much. It's getting to around lunch time that you actually twig to the sheer length of Route 2:Discounting the detour to Lake Clarity, it's still a two to three day hike from Newport to Silveridge and the grassland further south has given away fully to scrub now.You suddenly feel very small and you're glad that you've made your peace with travelling in the rain, because at this time of year, there's a lot of it. You eat on the move today, just eating trail mix as you go.Holly seems to have about hit her limit, but Judy has come to her rescue with her Sawsbuck. You only pause long enough to feed Nika before you're walking again, though during the break, you notice that Gareth is looking rather wry.>Talk with Gareth as you walk.>Just focus on walking. Gareth assures."You haven't had a fight with Jean already, surely." You say.Gareth does a double take."What? No, we haven't been fighting." Gareth assures, then shrugs, apparently deciding that if you're this concerned, he mght as well share. "Just a bit jealous of the fact you've got Nika." He admits. "And that I'm not going to have the opportunity to try and befriend a Riolu myself because of this rain.""Ah."That definitely explains why he looked so distracted.>We can always come have a look around before we leave Silveridge.>Maybe you can find someone who'll trade in Silveridge.>...Well, thanks for telling me.>Other

He adds."Well, you can always ask Kathryn where she got Nika's egg from." You say after a beat.Gareth brightens."Yeah, you're right." He says. "Thanks." He adds."It's what I do." You say modestly, before he drops back to go talk to Kathryn. You're a little taken aback by how strongly Gareth dislikes the notion of trading, but then again, you suppose they're unsurprising, considering his upbringing. You see a sign off on the side of the road denoting the fact that the Roadhouse is only about an hour's walk away and that Silveridge is nearly a half-day's walk beyond that. It's relatively clear now, but who knows if that will last.>Stop at the Roadhouse and spend the afternoon training.>Keep going to Silveridge.>See if you can't find signs of Riolu around.>Other

>>5237930>>5237932Well, the weather is good now and if it blows in once you're past the Roadhouse, you can always backtrack and nobody seems to be suggesting you stop while the going is good.In the meantime, you fish out your pokedex and flick through to Riolu's entry and start scanning through its habitat entry. You're definitely in the right place, but it seems like Lucario, or at least, Lucario in Arnet, like to make their dens on the slopes of hills that have a good view of their surrounds. They're also very protective of their pups.To the point even, that there's an advisary attached to the entry as a whole to be very careful of catching Riolu.Reading further though, there's another note made that even if a trainer were to go searching, its unlikely they'd just chance upon a trainer:Their rarity doesn't seem to come so much from them actually being rare, so much as they tend to avoid trainers based on their aura sense and that most encounters with them tend to come about unprompted as a given Riolu seeks out a trainer, rather than because a trainer is searching for them.As you finish the entry, Gareth rejoins you."Apparently, Kathryn got Nika's egg from her own Lucario." "Riolu apparently avoid most trainers based on their aura sense and seek out trainers more often than they're found by someone seeking them out. I'd say someone as in tune with aura as you, would have a better chance at encountering a Lucario or Riolu than the average trainer."Gareth looks like he's having an epiphany right now, rather than wearing a polite mask like he was."...Yeah, that's right." He says, as though he'd forgotten this fact. "I guess this is kind of a test in and of itself." He adds. "Envy and jealousy are unbecoming at best for an aura guardian. I'm sorry." I've had to be the voice of reason a few times." You say with a grimace, then clear your throat. "Anyway... You said at the lake my aura was kind of loud, right?" You ask."Yeah, so we could get a curious Riolu coming to investigate anyhow." Gareth says. "I'm going to take a minute to get a hold of myself and try meditating while we walk." He adds, then smiles. Or they're keeping their distance and hiding in the scrub.Either way, you keep walking. She confirms through chattering teeth. After a moment's thought, you release Sage, then pick her up and hand her to Holly."Stay with Holly and keep her warm, Sage." You say as Holly gratefully tucks Sage into her coat, giggling as Sage's ear tufts tickle her chin. She almost immediately looks a little better as Sage snaps at the raindrops falling past her playfully, but doesn't make any move to get away from Holly while doing so."Thanks." Holly says. "But aren't you cold?" She asks."Not really. I'm walking, you're riding, so the exertion is keeping me plenty warm." You explain, before you fish out your pokedex and start reading. You're doing some training when you reach the roadhouse.Ethan's probably done teaching Syurm whatever he was going to teach her by now and your mother should be done teaching Fluffy and you're curious to see how that's gone.Meanwhile, you've got a bunch of new pokemon to train and another gym challenge coming up and you still don't know all that much about the Silveridge Leader or what sort of challenge they might put you up to.Either way, training sounds like it's in order and between Queenie, Coolie, Ayumi, Piker and Nika you've got a lot to do.There's also the question of the Sobble you caught, but you've got a good idea you're going to give it to Tom and you've not had any second thoughts on that resolution.(Part 1)
>>5242315(Part 2)Reading through your pokedex, you quickly find that there's not a lot you can really do with training Applin until it evolves and Nika, any training you give her is going to be along the lines of 'walking' for the time being. There're a few moves you could teach Queenie, like Draining Kiss, though most of the others that catch your eye are TMs and you still have to finish teaching her Protect. After the past couple of days, you really want Syurm back to teach her Secret Power as well.Piker, being a Feebas, doesn't really learn much more than what he already knows, but you might be able to ask one of the girls for help there. Getting Water Pulse or Scald and Rain Dance sound like really good ideas to you, especially with the interior desert in the future, not to mention Fie's gym.Reviewing Ayumi's move pool, you're actually pretty happy with what she's got, butyou can definitely teach her more: Aqua Tail and Dragon Dance are prime picks with Kay O-o to teach her. There's also your current team to think of, but knowing who and what to prioritise without knowing more about the Silveridge Gym Leader and some of the others sounds like a recipe for tripping yourself up.>Who cares? "So... what's his gimmick then?""If you mean the little side job he gets people to do before you can challenge him, you've got a choice: Go down into the old silver mine and do something for him, or spend about an hour helping remove fossils from rock." Martha replies."Get fossils out of the rock?" You ask, taken aback. "Isn't that a really delicate process?"Martha nods."It is, but the bit you help with is 'pass this tool', 'brush the dust away,' 'hold the light,' that sort of thing." She says. "Unless you're Jean, but she spends a lot of her off-time either in Silveridge Town or Blackstump Town helping dig out fossils."Well. >>5242502We can stick to the Discord idea tho.Making a scheldue for when you are on would also net you more players.Simple post the planned time for the GMT0 global time zone and watch the attendees flood in.You also said you were a writer or something in a previous thread, that could be a way to find some exposure with readers.

>>5242658>>5242659>>5242671>>5242685>>5242948You have to think on this for a minute.Part of the reason you found Ethan so easy was because you found out the fundamentals of his team and his tactics before you faced him.Of course, Rusty hard-countering his team Type-wise certainly helped, but knowing how he conducted battle was a big part of it.And if you're honest with yourself, you want the League to at least be a bit of a challenge."What are his challenges like?" You ask, before holding up your hands. "I don't want you to spoil. But which one d'you think I should take? Paleontology prep or the mine? And if I went paleo, would it help with that fossil you gave me?"Jean shakes her head."No, helping prep for fossil restoration is a bit more involved than prepping a fossil for display." She says. "It's a very precise and time-consuming process but... well. The reason why Darren offers it as an alternative is because the old mine is haunted." She explains. You pause."Haunted." You repeat.Jean nods."Yep. Haunted. It's got Ghost pokemon in there along with the Zubat, Rock-Types, Fighting-Types and Steel-Types you'd expect." She says. "So, Darren offers helping out with the museum as an alternative to anyone who happens to have a phobia or two. As for which you ought to pick... I guess that really depends on whether you're scared of ghosts." She says simply.Well. That sure gives you something to think about."Well, thanks for the heads up..." You say."Don't sweat it." >>5246178Might add in some Scarlet and Violet pokemon when they come out, but otherwise, I'm just sticking with what already exists.Reason why is, I don't feel I could make something interesting enough - regional variant, fakemon or legendary, to be going on with.Plus, it'd be *a lot* of work. And there's no guarantee it would actually come up.I do have ideas to tie in a lot of legendaries though.Galarian Zapdos, for instance, is obviously the King of Doduo and the Terror of the Outback. It was actually the pokemon that prompted me to make a map in the first place. And after that, might as well populate it, right? And after all that effort, why not do something with all that work?

>>5250284>>5250317>>5250396The first and foremost thing you could improve on, in your view, is that you've been neglecting the core reason you left home in the first place:Making money. And the best way to make money as a trainer, is to battle. Barring cases where you get turned down like Martha, Jean and their group, you decide that from hereon, you're going to battle as often as you can.And in that same breath, you could stand to train your pokemon more, so you stand a better chance at winning if you find yourself up against an experience gap.By that same token, Team Green are actually a godsend in that sense: They all seemed to be weirdly cashed up for petty thugs and after the scuffles at the Lake, you actually came out with a pretty tidy profit. The only downside to this resolution though... is you're not going to be able to blow off Mike. Or not. You could always make an exception for him, but then again, money is money...You finish up basking and get out of the shower before heading out to join the others once you're dressed. When you do, you find them staring at the girl in the front lounge with much the same attitude of awkward wariness everyone else is.>What?>Who's hungry?>Go make some calls and switch up your team.>Other>Roll. She asks incredulouslyYou start. This is the first you're hearing of it.Nobody back in Greenshoot is really a fanatic follower of the League, but you're surprised all the same that nobody at school said anything about this or that it wasn't big news. >>5265232>>5265256>>5265295You shift. There's a stone digging into your thigh, it's cold and the last couple of days are catching up with you. There's also so much *stuff* you've got to do and with the phones and teleporter out, it's really inconvenient, because it's set you back heaps...You try and refocus, but it's hard right now. The rain is actually kind of distracting, rather than soothing like it normally is.Eventually though, you do manage to relax to the point that you can properly sense the aura around you:Everyone in the Roadhouse is an indistinct riot of colours, most relatively subdued, some brighter than others.Close at hand, Kay O-o seems to be having about as much trouble as you are.Even if he's more used to the cold than you are, your agitation is rubbing off on him as well and his aura is irregular and his own restless shifting is another distraction, much like you surmise you are to him.Rufflet's aura is also subdued and a little dim. He's tired.Following you like he has for the past week is taking its toll on the little guy and stubborn or not, even with you providing meals and a safe place to sleep, he needs a break as much as anyone else.Beside you though, Gareth's aura is steady and bright, more white than blue, like a lightbulb or a star and beside him, Mien is similarly focused. There's no sense of pride, or amusement, or anything beyond serenity from either of them. They're perfectly in sync and at peace with themselves and the world at large.(Part 1)
>>5265416You're trying to refocus when you're distracted again by another aura that winks into existence at the edge of your sight, growing steadily larger, followed by another. You're debating whether or not to alert Gareth or not when suddenly, the first aura is right in front of you. It's small and bright and you sense an overwhelming curiosity from it.You blink and suddenly the real world reasserts itself.Beside you, Gareth is sat, hunched over and he almost seems to be asleep, except for how deliberately measured his breathing is.In front of you is a sopping wet Riolu, panting from what you assume has been quite a run.You can't make out anything through the scrub and rain coming, but you don't doubt that whatever that second aura is, it'll be here soon.>Wait and see.>Alert Gareth to the visitor.>Other

And they don't look particularly impressed. The Lucario glowers at you and Gareth, before pausing. Its vanes fan out and it closes its eyes before focusing intently on him. There's a long moment, before it to sits down across from him.You don't really know what to do just now.Moving seems like a bad idea, one way or another, but simultaneously, you don't want anyone coming out and scaring off the pair as they meditate with Gareth. You resolve to just keep watch for the time being and keep anyone from interfering.Nothing happens for a surprisingly long time. It's actually kind of soothing, now that you're not trying to relax and meditate, just listening to the rain. Then the door opens, just about making you jump out of your skin. You can hear the voices of a pair of kids who sound like they want to train or battle. You hear them gasp and stop cold, apparently having spotted Lucario and Riolu.>Intervene before the newcomers scare Riolu off.>Wait and see what happens.>Other

Jacky observes now the both of you are alone again."I don't know about that. It was a good match."She arches an eyebrow."You think?" She asks."Sure. I kept him occupied and stopped him bothering Gareth and his new friends. And I walked away with the realisation I should really teach some of my team moves like Swift and Aerial Ace and work on our aim." You list."Arceus, I forgot how upbeat and positive you are." Jacky says, shaking her head and smiling. "You don't think you should try talking to that kid though?" She asks."Nope. He won't listen to me." You say with certainty. "Tom used to get a bit like that. Sarah usually talked him around. Same principle here. I knocked him down a peg, now it'll be up to his brother to set a good example." You say simply."I wish I was as good with people as you." Jacky says."You've got sisters." You note."Yeah, but they were never bratty like that." She replies as she releases an Espeon which promptly dries the both of you off with a flicker of psychic power before you head back in and straight back over to where a bemused Gareth is trying to deal with the kid as he continues to be unreasonable.>Intervene.>Go get Kay O-o looked at.>Other

Kathryn repeats, giving her a second Pecha Berry to her delight. This seems to make things click for Nika and she realises why she got the berry. You keep at the walking practice until the nurse comes and returns Kay O-o at which point Nika is exhausted and contently munching on the last of your Pecha berries as she sits beside Kathryn."That's all there is to it, really." "It's *devastating* against pokemon with a weakness to Rock." She adds. "A couple of times in the League tournament, we all saw people forfeit because all the pokemon they had left would've been picked off with ease by either the entry hazards their opponent had set up or a combination of them and the use of priority moves." In fact, he seems to be getting a better idea of how to more easily make physical attacks skate off his carapace. He's ably helped by the fact Druddigon currently has a massive blindspot for him to work with right now, but with a little more practice, he shouldbe able to fend off physical attacks more effectively. In retaliation, Rusty lunges and scores a very solid hit of his own on Druddigon, forcing him to retreat to regain his balance and giving Rusty some breathing room. That being said, being on the defensive due to Druddigon's speed advantage is really restrictive. Time to change that."Rock Tomb." You order."Metal Claw." Gareth counters. This time, Druddigon's aim is spot on and a terrible screech goes up as his claws rake Rusty's armour. He's definitely starting to tire now, but in return, Druddigon is battered by a barrage of rocks and is starting to look quite tired himself, not to mention the rocks are hindering his speed somewhat, though he's looking even more pumped than he did before."One more time, Metal Claw!" Gareth orders.Nope, practice or not, you're not going down that easily."Protect." You order. It's just as well you went with protect as well, as Druddigon's swing looks like it would've smashed into Rusty's underbelly and fetched him up on his back. Instead, Druddigon's attack is stopped cold and the two are left face to face."You want to tie things up here?" Gareth asks. "I think I've got a good idea what I need to do with regards to training now." He adds.>Probably for the best we leave things there. I think I've got a few ideas to look into myself.>I think these two want to settle things.>Other
