Saiyans. Known throughout the universe as the warrior race, their power and combat prowess proved invaluable in the Covenant's downfall. And with the largest threat to the PTO destroyed, their remnants scattered across space, the universe has been united under one banner. Peace reigns across the galaxy, under the rule of Lord Freeza, Emperor of the Universe. But not all wish it to be this way. Remnants of those who were conquered are gathering in the shadows, increasing their power, and plotting their revenge. Despite this newfound age of peace swiftly spreading across the stars, there are those who would seek its end. Will you be able to stop them, or shall the universe once more be plunged into the fires of war?

Welcome to Saiyan Conqueror Quest! This story takes place in an alternate timeline within the greater Dragonball EU. You the players control Karn: once an ordinary Saiyan warrior with a meager powerlevel of 2,830 who has risen to become a mighty Berserker Super Saiyan, and so much more. Throughout your many adventures, the “Dragon of New Salda” has grown into the symbol of Saiyan might and power, widely recognized across the universe as Freeza's close friend and confidant, not to mention his right hand man and General of his forces. From humble beginnings on the now long gone Planet Vegeta, Karn has become the pride of his people, and their greatest champion.

Previously on Saiyan Conqueror Quest:

After the death Karn's father Tatsu, he confronted Caulifla's raging, fiery emotions before taking her a along to greet the Ginyu Force. Where a drunk Super Saiyan moron by the name of Goar was trying to pick a fight with Captain Ginyu and the Ginyu Force. Karn ended the drunk's idiocy, and accepted his sudden “volunteering” for joining his training sessions with his students. Then after catching up with the Ginyu Force, and learning Jeice's wife is pregnant, Karn then said his farewells to Freeza and the Ginyus, his son and daughter-in-law as they returned home, then spent quality time with his wife before finding another type of Abyssal creature nearing the land on the far side of the continent. Taking it to the researchers in their tower of mad science, Karn then got to give his input on the rebreather apparatus Daiko is developing for him to battle the Mindslayer creatures lurking in the sea. But these were the events of a week ago. Since then Karn has continued living his life; continuing his training as well as spending time with his family. This day, just after finishing training your students in the afternoon, you received a very important message through your scouter.

“Karn, can you hear me?” a familiar voice speaks into your left ear through the scouter. “Karn? This is Daiko. Good news, the suit is ready for testing!”
“Excellent.” you tell him, only after a moment realizing that you'd answered him telepathically. So you continue communicating via telepathy, not bothering to answer through the tech. “I'll swing by in a minute, and we can test it out.”
“Actually, I'm already on my way out with the suit.” he answers, catching you by surprise. “B7 and I will meet you by your ship, to begin the underwater test.”
“I'll be right over.” you tell him, then ending the mental link turn to Meloka. “Looks like they've made the suit, and it's time to take it for a test run.”
“Be careful hun.” Meloka says, Karn Jr waving his arms and with a smile shouts “Baaaaeee!”
“I won't be too long.” you say, kissing her and ruffling your youngest son's hair before teleporting to B7's powerlevel using your Instant Transmission. “Alright, let's try this thing out.”

But how will you test it?
>Multiform, don the gear with one and have the other without then spar yourself under the waves
>Equip the gear, then dive in and locate the nearest Mindslayer. Once you've found it take the monster down
>Swim down to the Rak'kari settlement while wearing it, and see how it handles the pressure at the bottom of the sea in their settlement
>Equip the gear, and try using your Energy Body around it then let B7 attack you

"Suit me up. Once I'm in, I'll find one of those creatures and we'll see how well it works." you say to Daiko and B7. "Worst case scenario, I'll use my Instant Transmission to teleport back to you two."
"Then let's not waste any more time, come on." he says, and starts spreading out the equipment in his arms. He and B7 put down all the suit pieces, you taking off your armor and slipping into the full body skintight suit. Once you're wearing it he and B7 begin putting the rest of the suit on, the last thing is the mask held in Daiko's hands. “Once this is on, you should have one hour of air at most. The faster and deeper you breathe, the faster you'll burn through the tank. And if you start feeling light headed, get back to the surface. Immediately. Understand?”

“Let's do this.” you say, donning the face mask and taking a slow breath. The air tastes a bit stale, but other than that it's just fine. “Let's do this.”

Your voice is muffled by the suit, your “Let's do this” coming out more like “Lrrrrr d'rrrr”. So instead you give him a thumb's up, and turn from them towards the sea. Crouching down you then leap, flipping once then diving into the sea with a splash. Now in the sea, you keep swimming down, while focusing on your ki sense. Expanding your awareness out, the first things you sense are Daiko's tiny powerlevel, and B7's exponentially larger ki. But as you swim away from them, and continue expanding you mind, suddenly you sense the familiar sinister ki of a Mindslayer. You can feel it slowly swimming towards you, and with a grin orient yourself on it and start swimming forward. Time to test this suit out.

Moving forward, you fly directly towards the monster until you can see it. The beast sees you, and opening it's mouth unleashes it's tremendous mental psychic attack. But you're ready, hardening your mind as it screeches. The attack washes over you, but with your mind readied the agonizing screech is barely more than a nuisance. Gathering your ki into both hands, you create your Super Ki Blade, and charge forward towards the creature. Seeing that you're unaffected it closes it's mouth, then surges forward to try and eat you. You close in, then as it widens it's mouth to bite down you surge forward, diving into it's mouth and swinging your blade. Emerald ki bites into the Mindslayer's flesh, and with a single slice decapitate the beast. Splitting it by the jaws you behead the beast. Blood immediately turns the water red, you ending the technique and grabbing the creature by it's tongue.

“Well that was easy.” you mumble, now holding a rather sizeable creature's corpse. Which leaves you only one question:

"This should be a good enough test." you say to yourself, and holding the beast's corpse by the tongue you turn back towards your island and start swimming back. You could use the relaxing exercise, especially after today's training. So you hold onto the tongue with your left hand, swimming through the water with powerful kicks and pulling yourself with your right arm. It takes a little time to get yourself back, and while you swim you pay extra-close attention to your breaths. The entire time you swim, your breathing remains even and deep, and you can't taste anything different as you see the island looming up out of the sea before you. So you reach out telepathically to both Daiko and B7. “Almost back, coming up on the island now.”

“But I don't see you?” Daiko responds, then before he can say anything else you burst up and out of the waves. Even through the suit you can clearly hear his shocked shout. You watch as he falls backwards, flailing in shock as B7 is just standing there, having no doubt sensed how close you were. Dropping the body on the beach you take a knee, telepathically reaching out to Daiko.

“Mind taking this mask off?” you ask him. “Don't want to break it or anything.”
“O-O-Of course.” he replies, rising back up and dusting himself off before reaching out. You feel one, then two snaps, then he pulls the mask off your face. “How was it?”
“Worked great.” you say enthusiastically, gesturing over to the corpse. “Brought you guys something for the trouble.”
“Nonsense, we can't-” he starts, you leveling your left hand at it and fire off a ball of ki. Your energy strikes and begins cooking the corpse, and after a second it's side splits open in a cloud of delicious-smelling steam. “Oh.”

“Both of you help yourselves.” you say, examining the suit and finding the clasp holding the tank to your front. With a couple seconds' careful effort you disconnect it, taking the apparatus off and setting it carefully on the sand to your other side before helping yourself. Reaching out with a blade of ki, you cut it's tail off and begin eating the cooked meat. It's just as good as always, you emitting an unconscious “Mmmm” before turning your focus to the Head Scientist. “This suit worked great. Didn't have any issues, nothing got in my way or hindered any movement.”
“Excellent! Then I will take the suit back, and go over everything.” he replies, then gestures to where the apparatus was resting on your chest. And looking down, you're surprised to see that there are marks on the suit where it'd been resting against you. “This suit was one of our testing rigs, which become more and more colored by friction once it's stretched out across a body. With this data, we can take the design and refine it.”

cont
>>
>>5224165
“Alright, then here.” you say, quickly stripping out of the suit and fold it up atop the device. “What sort of time frame are we looking at for getting the battle-ready version?”
“Now that I have this working prototype, and with what you've told me, making a durable, battle-ready version should only take us around a couple weeks.” he says, then takes another bite of seared Mindslayer. “Maybe three at most.”
“Excellent. You and your team can all share this one, call this an early reward for the good work.” you tell him, then after a moment's thought add. “As long as nobody tries to modify or splice it into another genetic monster, that is.”

“Fair enough. I'll ensure that nobody misuses your gift.” Daiko replies, before grabbing another handful and taking a bite.

While B7 and Daiko are eating from the beast, and you're eating the severed tail, you decide to reach out to Chaya. She's been out for three days, having left New Salda a few days ago to catch her ship to another foreign planet where her next event is happening. She had seemed very excited about this one, saying something about getting to test the combat efficiency of the newest DZ combat bots. So you focus your mind, and reach out to your oldest daughter with your thoughts.

“Hey kiddo, how's the fight going?” you ask her, and the moment the telepathic link is solid you can feel her surging emotions. The most prominent is her joy, with a small undercurrent of worry.
“Dad? Oh, hey! Are you watching?” she replies, then immediately feel her mental connection back off a bit. No doubt focusing on the battle. “Did you see that?”
“Sorry, not watching kiddo.” you say, and can almost feel her shoulders slump a bit. “Just got the prototype for that underwater fighting gear, and wanted to know how your fight was going.”
“It's going great! These new robots are super tough!” she thinks to you. “If I don't go Super Saiyan, I can't even knock them down!”

“Really?” you ask, genuinely surprised. Last time you'd seen her fighting those robots, your then barely-teen daughter had been able to demolish them with ease without transforming. “Huh. Looks like Vox has been beefing up his machines.”
“These are the special ones, going to be used in a new elite challenge Vox is preparing.” she tells you. “Something about a special challenge he's making for me.”
“A special challenge?” you ask, suddenly getting a bad feeling. She no doubt senses something through the mental link, and tries assuaging it.
“It's going to be a cool challenge event, one that will draw a huuuuge crowd!” she thinks excitedly to you. “And there's a special war machine he's building for the final fight, and it's gonna be wild! I'm super excited!”

“Well then, let me know when it's happening kiddo.” you tell her, feeling her attention heavily split between you and the fight she's currently in. “And I'll be sure to head over and watch.”
“Absolutely!” she replies excitedly. “When it's happening I'll let you, and Momma, and everybody know! But we gotta talk later, I'm getting' shot at now. Byeee!”

And then the mental link ends.

“I've got a bad feeling about that.” you mutter to yourself, shaking your head. You aren't sure why, but hearing Chaya speak of that 'special' event gave you a lingering bad feeling. Something's off about all that, but you aren't sure what. Maybe it's nothing, and you're still just a bit paranoid. After all, she's been fighting there for half a decade now.

You spend the rest of the day with that thought in the back of your mind, you thinking over and over that feeling you'd had when she said that. You can't get it off your mind, even at the end of the day while looking out over the sunset. Something's definitely wrong here.

But what can you do about it?

"Hey Raven, are you busy?" you ask her telepathically. "I need to make a quick trip."
"Of course, what do you need?" comes her reply, almost instantly. "What's wrong?"
"Something Chaya told me." you reply, raising your right hand to your forehead and teleporting directly to the Guardian's side. "It's been bothering me all day. Going to go visit with Vox, and see if I can get some answers out of him.”
“Are you sure that's a good idea?” she asks you, brows furrowing. “You're not exactly, well...”

“What, subtle?” you ask her with a laugh. “I'm not going to start a fight. Just figure out what he's planning for my daughter.”
“Alright. Good luck.” she says, opening a portal right beside you. “Just tell me when you're ready to come back.”
“Will do. Thanks Raven.” you say, ruffling her hair a moment before turning and walking through the portal. You step through her dark portal, appearing at the private landing zone where Chaya appears through. And to your surprise, there are a dozen soldiers all pointing some sort of rifles at you. “Looks like security has been updated.”

“Identify yourself.” one of those masked machines says, eyes glowing red and flashing brighter as it speaks. So you do, clenching your fists and blazing your emerald aura up around yourself.
“Karn. Chaya's father.” you say, all six machines remaining unmoving for several seconds. Then suddenly one lowers it's weapon, the other eleven all lowering them an instant later.
“You are authorized to proceed.” the one who spoke says, eyes flashing with it's voice. Then they all move aside, forming two rows for you to leave the platform between. You power down your aura, striding through them while trying to remember the way to him. You then have an idea, turning around back to the one who'd spoken. “Can I help you sir?”
“Take me to Vox's office.” you order it, then to your surprise the machine immediately snaps it's hand to it's head in a salute more common across the PTO.

“Of course, sir.” it says, snapping it's heels and turning, leading you forward. You follow the machine, slowing your pace to match the much-shorter machine's steps as it leads you into Dreadzone proper. The machine leads you down empty hallways, the only signs of habitation being more of the coated machines with their rifles held in a low ready. They all gaze upon you with lifeless eyes, but their heads turn unnaturally to face you as you go through. It leads you to an elevator, the machine walking past the two much larger machines armed with dangerous-looking, multi-barreled weapons without so much as a glance. You follow it in, the machine pressing several buttons then stepping out. It fires off a final salute as the doors close, then you feel it beginning to ascend.

After nearly a minute the elevator stops, and you hear a door open from behind you. Turning around, you're confronted by none other than Chaya's second-in-command, the young soldier Tanya. And more than a dozen of her machines, all aiming their weapons at you.

“General Karn. What a surprise.” she says, not gesturing for her soldiers to immediately lower their weapons. “Your visit is quite unexpected.”
“I need to talk to Vox.” you tell her, not stepping forward. You're sure that you could take them all down without much effort, Tanya included if needed, but Chaya works for Vox. And attacking her boss's protectors would easily send the wrong message. “Chaya sent me a message earlier today, something about a special challenge, and it's not sitting right with me. So Vox and I are going to have a chat.”

“Do you have an appointment?” she asks, loosening her arms behind her back and holding them at the ready by her sides. Right by the pistols she has holstered on her hips. Looks like she plans on stopping you. But why? She has to know she can't stop you, even with-wait, why is she glowing golden again? Your instincts suddenly start screaming at you in warning, alerting you that suddenly you're in danger. But then, before the tension can escalate any further, the door behind her suddenly slides open.
“That's enough, General Degurechaff.” Vox calls from within his office. “Let General Karn through. There are things we need to discuss.”
“Yes sir.” Tanya says, snapping her heels and walking out of your way to the right side of the door. As her heels clack, each of the soldiers lower their weapons simultaneously. You eye her as that golden aura disappears instantly, her expression looking completely neutral. You don't say anything to her, walking right past her into the office of the owner of Vox Media, Gleeman Vox.

Nothing much has changed since the last time you were in here, the orange-suited fishman sitting in his chair with his back to you, watching Chaya fighting some sort of heavy-looking machines. Even as a Super Saiyan they take more than one hit each, but Chaya's still easily dodging their heavy attacks.

“I heard that you're wanting to speak with me.” Vox says, turning around as Chaya rips one machine's arm off, and with the jerking motion's momentum spin and use it as a club to knock another one off it's feet. “Well, here I am. What can I do for you, General Karn?”

Well? What do you say?

Worth telling Vox that we're not going to tell Chaya anything / give away any secrets about the fight; we want her to be challenged here so that she doesn't grow stagnant powerwise (and knowing fully what surprises are coming ruins that challenge).

But we also want to make sure that any fight she might lose here will be the sort she needs to reset and bounce back from (mentally and physically), not something that will permanently maim or kill her.

"We need to talk." you say to him, stepping up to his desk as the door slides shut behind you. "I was talking to my daughter today, and she told me about what you're planning. But you're clearly hiding something.”
“Of course I'm hiding something from her. This whole event is being set up to test her abilities.” Vox says, steepling his flesh and metal fingertips together and addressing you with surprising-seeming honesty. “The Ultimate Champion Challenge. It's been in the works for two months now. Look to the screen behind me.”

Vox turns, you looking back up to your daughter fighting these unfamiliar machines. Chaya's finally seemingly fighting seriously, her Ascended aura blazing and sparking around her as she moves from robot to robot, dispatching them with one or two hits of her massive sword each.

“These are the strongest machines I've made.” he says, sounding somewhat proud of these machines as Chaya cuts them down. “Each one of these could take down an entire unit of those elite soldiers outside the door, the last strongest machines I've ever made. But look at her. Your daughter's cutting through them as if each one doesn't cost more than that ship you live in.”
“Huh.” you say, wondering how much your former ship turned home actually costs. But Vox continues, barely acknowledging your non-answer.
“She's such a powerful contestant, perhaps the strongest Dreadzone has ever had.” he says, you almost hearing the smile come to his face. “And she's reigned as Champion for half a decade now, the third longest reign of any Champion to date. Which is a problem.”

As he says this you narrow your eyes, sensing a hint of malice in his voice. Vox slowly turns back around towards you, a frown on his face.

“She's still holding onto good numbers, far more than her predecessor Ace. But that's not good enough.” he says seriously. “Her in-person audience for fights is down only 2%, but her online numbers are abysmal. Everyone already KNOWS the results of her fights, so many people have already tuned out. She's down 20% of her live broadcast audience from last year, which is 11% lower than it was the year before. She's hemorrhaging viewers who'll pay to watch her fights. Her other broadcasts' numbers haven't dropped, in fact her training streams are up 7%. But losing fight tickets is a massive loss of revenue for this organization. So, in response to this, we've created the 'Ultimate Champion Challenge.' This upcoming event will be the greatest battle of her career.”

“The Ultimate Champion Challenge will be a multi-day-long slog across a war-ravaged world.” Vox explains further. “She will be pushed to her limits against a seemingly-endless enemy force, much as you and your people were during the Siege of New Salda. Which was the highest-rated event we've ever had, thanks for that by the way.”
“All we did was survive, but you're welcome.” you say, a bit confused. “But is that it? A big battle ending with a fight against a giant machine?”
“Well, that's a bit of a red herring.” he says, lowering his voice a bit conspiratorially. “Can I trust you to keep this a secret from her?”
“Depends on the secret.” you reply, narrowing your eyes at the gilled snake. “If it endangers my daughter's life, then I won't.”
“Excellent!” he replies, then speaking past you calls out. “General Degurechaff, please come in.”

You turn curiously, watching as the short, young soldier walks into the room. She's completely unphased by your presence now, walking up directly to stand beside you. He gestures over to her, and continues talking to you directly.

“The machine is actually going to just be a shell, and destroyed before her REAL final fight.” Vox says with a sly grin. “Instead of a boring fight against an easily-destroyed giant machine, instead she's going to be up against General Degurechaff for the climactic final battle. And the winner will be taking the title of Champion.”
“You're challenging her?” you ask, turning to her.
“Yes, I shall be battling your daughter.” she replies to you. “I won't maim her, or leave her with any permanent physical injury. But I don't plan on losing.”

“I'd expect nothing less. If you're fighting against Chaya, you'd better give it your all.” you tell her, feeling a bit relieved that he wasn't hiding some crazy plot as you turn back to Vox. “And I won't tell her about what I learned today.”
“I appreciate it, General Karn.” he says with a genuine-seeming smile. “Was there anything else?”

Have we ever mentioned our idea of the 'Death World' (for the Saiyan youth to train/survive on now that New Salda is too safe and stable) to him?

If not, maybe we could get him to put up some of the funds to establish it (and maybe even help create or source some of the threats for it), in exchange for the exclusive rights to flood the planet with cameras for a 24/7 live feed for the universe to watch; Baby Saiyans vs The Worst Nature Has to Offer.
>>
>>5224680
Also, I am opposed to telling him about the Lin Kuei.

Keep that shit relatively quiet; leave it to Freeza, etc. to tell whoever needs to be told. He is smarter, and knows better who to trust with such sensitive information.
>>
>>5224693
King Vegeta and Tatsu both have refused to tell him. This is a private affair, the training of the youth, and not a spectacle. The less information about this world known, the less chance someone finds it and is able to kill/capture young, impressionable Saiyans.

Good to know.

In that case, doubling down on my vote of telling this guy fucking nothing sensitive. No Assassin shit. Leave the room.

Alright. Hello, new guy to this quest here. Before I get to what I'm going to say, this quest now that I have actively started to read it has embroiled me fully since the second thread. GD, I may only be on thread 68 currently but this is already a quest that I should've not slept on. Period. I can only hope that it gets better and better as I go through it at breakneck speed!

Now that that's outta the way.... where the fucking hell is the Towa epilogue. I know you all get what I'm saying, and know what i am referring to. I need to see the lewd, I need to see Towa take the plunge. I have A MIGHTY NEED TO KNOW THE UTMOST DETAILS, IT BURNS.

I'll be back in a few hours probably after I get through another chunk of the backlog. Here's hoping it ain't locked or something on that dang patreon you got GD or else I'll have a fuckin fit trying to not become a patron right away. See y'all then, and keep up the good work GD.

“There's one more thing we need to discuss.” you say, then tapping the side of your head say to both him and Tanya telepathically, “Off the books. I don't want any recording of what I'm about to say.”
“One moment.” Vox says, pressing a few buttons with his robot hand under his desk, then draws a rectangular device out and sets it on the table. As he does the lights go out, and he presses another button that ejects a slim holodisc from it. “There. Now we can speak freely.”

“Just in case, I'll continue speaking telepathically.” you say to them both. “From someone within the Zoldyck organization, and from what happened to my own son, I have discovered some disturbing information. Those Lin Kuei bastards have teamed up with a group of Covenant remnants, and begun making murderous machine bodies for those Sangheili bastards.”
“Unfortunately, I'm acutely aware.” Tanya informs you, speaking aloud then walking back to the unassuming box by the doorway opens it, drawing out a metallic Lin Kuei assassin's head. It has been dissected, pieces dangling by nothing more than wires, but it's clear that it's not been moving on it's own. Unlike that bastard Nefarious's. “I've encountered them before.”

“The fact they're either bold or insane enough to try attacking you of all people proves that, wherever they're dug into, they doubt discovery.” he replies. “I have a few of my most trusted people mapping transmissions, and checking dissident planets for the possibility of housing their fortress. We already sent the information of one potential spot to the King, and he sent his oldest son. Cold hasn't told us the results of this yet, so we're still searching for other possibilities.”
“I'll reach out to King Cold later, and ask he update you telepathically.” you think to him, then aloud. “I think that'll be all today.”
“It would seem so.” Vox says, rising to his feet and offering you his hand. “Feel free to stop by anytime, General Karn. General Degurechaff, would you mind seeing him off?”

“Sir.” she says with a forehead salute, then clacking her heels turns around, and starts walking from the office. You give him a final nod, then turn and follow her from the room. The door hisses with a shut behind you as it closes, Tanya leading you into the elevator then starts pressing the buttons to close it. The door before you closes with a hiss, Tanya turning to face the door you'd first walked into. She shows no interest in small talk, not saying a word as the elevator descends. The silence is oppressive, and despite the questions in your mind you aren't sure if you should ask anything. But before you can say anything to break the silence, the elevator suddenly stops and the lights cut out.

“The hell?” you mutter, flaring your emerald aura up enough to see the whole inside of the elevator as Tanya sighs out in exasperation.
“Why is it that whenever you and I are alone, something ALWAYS tries ending my life?” she asks, sounding more irritated than anything else as she draws her heavy, bladed-toothed rifle off her back. She then closes her eyes and starts murmuring something to herself. You catch the words “Gate of heaven” and “shit down his throat” but can't quite make the rest of what she says out. However, as she does, her blood-red gems all begin glowing golden. Then, as she opens her eyes, they begin swiftly changing from blue to gold. “Well, let's get to work.”

And as she finishes speaking, she revs the chainsaw blade of her rifle for emphasis. You just take a deep breath, rolling your shoulders to ease the meeting's tension out of them. You hadn't come here or a fight, but it looks like you're not leaving Dreadzone without getting in at least one.

>Karn has made a LOT of enemies over the years, but most aren't alive to try again.
True. But still, those that have survived are either strong enough to defy us or smart enough to try other avenues of subversion.
Hence why it's a good thing we're starting to clean house with the remnants.

“Which way do you think they'll attack us from?” you ask her, moving into the center of the elevator. Tanya begins levitating, flying up to your shoulders and leaning against the back of your neck, almost sitting on you. For a moment you're reminded of Chaya riding on your shoulders when she was a lot younger, but then focus on the task at hand.
“Doesn't matter. We're going up. Can't let any intruders get to the boss.” she replies, revving her saw. She then leaps off you, driving her blade into the ceiling and starts cutting through a raised area. She cuts it for about a second, then draws it out and flips back, kicking the hole wide open and flying up and out. Her golden light radiates in the elevator space overhead, but there's a problem. That emergency escape is far too small for your massive Berserker shoulders to fit through. Hell, even if you reverted back to your base form, you probably wouldn't fit through. But as you look up, you hear her call down. “Hurry up!”

“If I can't fit, I can always teleport to her.” you mutter, then suddenly hear an odd buzzing, almost grinding noise. Looking down towards the source you see what looks like a circular saw blade suddenly cut up through the floor. The circular spinning blade appears up between your feet, and begins cutting towards your right side. Looks like at least one of these bastards is below you as well, not to mention.

But what do you do about this?
>Leave an Energy Mine behind, give the one coming up from below a surprise then teleport to Tanya with Instant Transmission
>Tanya can handle herself, smash through the floor and destroy the bastard
>Wait in the elevator, and when the invader breaks through destroy it with overwhelming power

"Hold on." you call up to her, then between your hands quickly form a sphere of explosive ki. Your energy expands into an orb as broad as your chest, not your shoulders, then leave the orb floating in the room. Once your surprise is readied you raise your right hand to your forehead, focusing your ki sense on Tanya's tiny ki signature. She's moving away from you, rapidly ascending towards the top of the elevator shaft. You lock onto her energy, then with a moment's focus use your Instant Transmission to teleport right beneath Tanya. You leave the elevator behind, the world instantly shifting into the bare shaft as Tanya flies up to the sealed door. You watch as she tries kicking it, but her boot doesn't make a scuff, much less a dent or open the door. “Here, let me.”

You then fly up to her, Tanya moving back and giving you room to work. For a moment you consider just bashing them down, then have a better idea.

“Cover me.” you say, but before you even finish speaking, she's already pressing her much smaller frame against your back. You then close your eyes a second, taking a deep breath, and focus. Reaching out with both arms and your mind, you use your telekinesis to grab a hold of the two sliding doors. Then, as gently as you can, begin sliding them open. They open with a squeal of metal on metal, but as they open up, you're greeted with an unexpected sight. All twelve of the robotic bodyguards have their weapons drawn, eyes glaring at you with mechanical menace.
“Stay at the ready!” Tanya orders, flipping back over the top of your head and spinning to land on her feet in front of you. Then without looking at any of them keeps walking, marching right up towards Vox's door. “Sir. Elevator's power has been cut, we're under attack.”

“I'm activating the “Rampage” protocol now.” he says through the speaker beside the door, and suddenly not one, but two blast doors slide down over the main doors. “Is Karn still here?”
“Yeah, I'm here.” you say, walking up beside the tiny warrior. “Do you-”

KABOOM

“What the hell was that?!” Vox asks through the speaker as your energy detonates, putting a smirk on your face. Looks like you got that one. “What's going on?!”
“Left a present behind for the one who'd been cutting it's way up into your elevator.” you tell him, Vox not immediately responding.

What now?
>Tell Vox that you're leaving, and will cut down everything that tries attacking you on your way out

"General Degurechaff, how can I help?" you ask, turning to face her. She looks up at you, confusion all over her face. “I'm here, and you all are in trouble. Tell me what you need.”
“Very well. Stay here for a moment, I'll need your power.” she says, then walks forward and designates five of the twelve soldiers. “You, you, you, you, and you. Head down into the elevator shaft, and execute everything not authorized to be here. Go.”
“SIR.” they all say with a salute, then with zero hesitation form a single file line in front of the hole, and one after another leap down, rifles drawn and aiming down into the chasm. They all leap, then after a few seconds you hear the familiar buzzing of that sort of saw that was cutting up through the floor.

“Dammit. There's more than one of them down there.” you say, as the sawing noise suddenly stops. You then hear a rhythmic pounding, almost like heavy footsteps up the side of the elevator shaft as whatever's down there drawn near. Then, right before the noise is about to enter where you can all see, suddenly more than a dozen orbs the size of your eye suddenly appear out of the chasm.
“Don't sho-!” Tanya shouts, but she's too slow. The machines all fire at the orbs, and as they're shot, each one explodes into a smoke cloud. The temperature in the room immediately drops at least twenty degrees, a layer of frost forming across the floor, walls, and ceiling around the opening. “Dammit. Karn, be ready.”

“Right.” you reply, then you see a shape beginning to form. All seven of the remaining mechanical soldiers all open fire simultaneously, their crimson beams firing into the smoke cloud at the rising shape. For more than twenty seconds they keep firing, then the shape suddenly roars!
“RRROOOOOAAAAAAAR!” it bellows, then that cloud of icy wind begins spreading out towards you all. Recognizing this as something similar to Chilli's attack, you immediately throw up your right hand, and focusing your ki.

“Barrier!” you shout, emerald ki spreading out from you and forming a hardened sphere around you and Tanya both. That icy smoke covers your shield, freezing on contact and trapping both of you in place.
“Creating a construct to fire off an incapacitating magical attack. They aren't playing around this time.” Tanya says casually as you end your Barrier, her eyes and gems all glowing golden. “Let's break this down, and deal with these-”
“Get down!” you shout, knocking Tanya to the ground, and focusing your ki to create your Energy Body as the inner walls of this dome all turn into spikes that immediately expand directly towards you standing in the center. You knock the small woman down between your feet, but before you can activate the technique more than two dozen frozen lances impale you from all directions!

“GAH!” you exclaim, managing to shield your head with your arms but take several hits to them, your legs, and the unarmored parts of your torso. Thankfully your armor stopped a half dozen or so from directly piercing into your chest, but each one that stabbed into you or your armor begin freezing you from the points of contact. “D-Dammit.”
“Karn!” Tanya shouts as your blood drips down onto her. “N-No way.”
“Brace yourself.” you reply, focusing your ki. Then you let it explode out, shattering the icicles and the dome around you as well with a “HAAAAA!” Ice shards go flying out from you in all directions, your blast clearing the smoke to reveal three of the Lin Kuei machine soldiers, and a mecha Sangheili as well!

“YOU!!” the Sangheili shouts, synthetic voice full of hatred and venom. It doesn't hesitate, immediately crouching and leaping forward. But the splitjaw's focus was entirely on you, and didn't see Tanya drawing her beam rifle on him. She then fires, unleashing a tremendous beam that slams directly into the mecha fighter's frame. Her attack sends the machine flying back, slamming into the wall and ceiling at the far end of the room. Tanya ends her attack, the machine dropping face-first to the ground.
“Thanks for that.” you say, clenching and un-clenching your fists trying to warm them up and get feeling back into them. The mecha splitjaw rises back to it's feet, glaring at you with hate in it's artificial eyes.

“I wasn't here for you.” the splitjaw says, drawing it's energy blade in it's right and a Covenant-make weapon that fires those damned cursed exploding crystal needles. “But since you are, you're going to die. Even if it kills me.”

What do you do?

One question. If the crystals chambered by the Sangheili's Needler were to be shattered somehow, would they go off prematurely?

Not likely. They have to pierce into something, then enough have to be also embedded before they all go off

"Stay behind me." you say, focusing your ki and forming your ki into the hardened suit of armor around you. Your Energy Body blazes up emerald around you, forming a glowing full-body suit of dense ki to protect you from any attack. “I won't let any through.”
“Spear and shield? Good idea.” she replies, flying up behind you and resting her long rifle on your shoulder. Then without another word she fires, once more unleashing a powerful beam of magical energy forward. This time the Sangheili dodges, the Cyber Lin Kuei all moving in different directions, but the one closest to you doesn't move fast enough. Her destructive beam slams full-force into the machine man, obliterating him near-instantly. But as he's destroyed, the other three machines all charge directly at you from different angles.

“Perish!” the mecha Sangheili shouts, firing a spray of those evil pink crystals at you. You make yourself as large a target as possible, shielding Tanya from the incoming fire, and against your instincts remain in place and let them strike you. The crystals all stick into your energy, not piercing anywhere deep enough to pierce into you, then explode. Right after the explosion the two ninja rush through it, and are upon you. One creates a massive two-handed ice blade overhead, swinging it down at your head as the other one rushes low, directly at your left side. You try and stop both at once, raising your right arm to block the sword with your forearm while swinging out with your left fist at the low one. Your punch flies true, connecting the lower Lin Kuei's shoulder as the other's sword crashes against your raised forearm. Metal squeals as it tears, your punch ripping straight through the weaker robot as Tanya fires another beam, presumably at the Sangheili one.

The machine you'd disarmed reaches out with it's left, arm grabbing onto yours. Then to your surprise several cables spring from it's arm and hand, wrapping several times around your arm. They all begin emitting extreme cold, and to your shock ice begins encasing your energy-clad forearm. The same instant you feel this, you also feel it in your right, looking up and seeing the frozen blade has also encased your other arm, and is swiftly freezing your Energy Body itself!

“N-No way.” you say, shocked as their magic is actually freezing your ki itself around you. In the just two seconds since impact, their ice has already encased your entire forearms, elbows, and halfway up your upper arms towards your shoulders. Their magic is working too fast; if you don't hurry and do something you'll be frozen solid! But then this isn't your biggest worry.

“DIE!” the splitjaw snarls, dashing directly towards your wide-open chest with his blade drawn back. But as he closes in to swing, you can't help but smirk. He thinks you're defenseless just because your arms are occupied. But he couldn't be more wrong.
“Stop.” you say to him, focusing your mind and glaring at him with a smirk. You reach out with your telekinesis, and grab that machine Sangheili by it's left leg just as it starts swinging. Stopping him just short of you, his blade swing misses you completely. And instead of cutting you, the energy blade narrowly misses your chest and instead cuts directly into the Lin Kuei to your left's side. The weapon cleaves the would-be assassin in two, it's legs falling limply to the ground while still holding onto your left arm. It appears shocked that it's attack didn't work, then before it can recover you draw your right knee up, then fire off a thrusting front kick directly into the machine's face with a “HRRAAA!!”

Your boot smashes into the splitjaw's shocked face, metal crunching as your blow launches it back. And as it's sent back, Tanya goes on the attack. She'd dropped her beam rifle, instead taking her saw-toothed weapon and revving it as she springs up under your left arm.

“HAAAAA!!” she roars, golden energy coating her saw as she swings it up into the left-most machine's arm. It cuts through smoothly, her blade severing that one's last remaining arm with little seeming effort. With your arm freed you immediately swing it towards your right, breaking the other's icy blade and stopping it from further freezing you. The instant you break it's ice, Tanya leaps, swinging her rifle's revving saw blade at the other's collar. Her spinning blade chews through the machine's collar and torso until it makes a different sound, Tanya immediately leaping back. “Get clear! It's gonna blow!”

But you don't get clear, instead you grab the sparking machine and throw it directly at the Sangheili. The stunned machine isn't able to react in time, the beeping machine crashing into it and sending both flying back into the open elevator shaft. They drop together out of sight, then a second later the one Tanya'd sawed detonates. The fiery blast travels back up the shaft and into the room, not quite reaching you but sublimating the ice around the opening directly into steam. Leaving only the limbless one by your feet remaining.

“Well, that was easy.” you say, ending your Energy Body technique and physically shattering the ice remaining around your arms as Tanya fires a burst into the downed one's face, shooting until black fluid sprays up like a geyser and the soft blue lights of it's eyes dim and go out.
“Wait. Weren't there three of them?” she asks, your blood going a bit cold. You'd completely forgotten that there had been another one!

“SHIT!” you exclaim, immediately raising your right hand to your forehead and focusing on Vox's ki signature. One second you're outside his heavy sealed doors, the next you're inside his office, standing on the other side of his desk. And holding him in the air, with its right hand around his throat and left arm drawn back, spinning saw blade out and ready to end him. If you don't act quick, Vox is done for!
“Save! Mee!” Vox manages to get out as he sees you, while you notice his metallic arm laying on his table, sparks emitting from what is very clearly the results of it's saw cutting through. You have only an instant to act, or else the fish man's a goner.

“Die.” the robot says, swinging his spinning blade forward. You move, reaching out and catching the blade arm in your right hand, halting the weapon mere inches from Vox's face. “Wha-?”

Then before it can react you swing with left backhanded, the ridge of your hand breaking the machine's neck and severing it's head from it's body. The metal head clanks to the ground, body going limp a second later. You release it, Vox falling unceremoniously to the floor with a “Whuf” as he hits the ground.

“You alright?” you ask, the fishman pushing himself up after a moment and dusting himself off.
“Yes, I am quite fine. Thanks to your timely intervention.” Vox says, straightening his tie with one hand. “Luckily for me, you were still here. Appreciate the help.”
“You're welcome.” you reply, sighing out. Can't you go anywhere without getting attacked?

Remember, they were there to kill Vox. But, upon seeing you, the Sangheili’s mind changed. No amount of programming could erase that hatred.

Oh joy, they learned not to go after the kids again. Damn shame we were here for business.

I wonder if this is because of our fearsome reputation or Chaya's own skills. Either way I'm pleased.

The Lin Kuei know going after Chaya is not ONLY suicide, but that she’ll drag you into her spotlight and publicly humiliate your ass while kicking it. And publicity is NOT what they want.

>Chaya’s been able to murder Lin Kuei assassins since before she was Champion, they learned that the hard way when trying to kill Emilia
Now I remember. Around half of our children kick ass on a semi regular basis now, right (Chili, Broly, Chaya future and present, Caulifla, Maza, Milha, and Koruza)?
>>
>>5226782
Currently Chaya, then Caulifla, then Chilli in terms of who fights actual enemies and not just friendly sparring. Broly is surprisingly the least, aside from the half-demon kids and toddlers
>>
>>5226830
Its weird to say Broly is the least violent and most mentally sound of our children.
>>

I know it's bad to start thinking about what we should have done when the damage came and went already, but this makes me want to go back in time and slap Anon for mistreating the child. And also kill clown bastard all over again. And then do it again.
>>
>>5226957
That's an involved technique, not for a single day's visit. But he's developing his own magical teleportation spells, one each with Crystal and Dark magic.

If you REALLY want to go back, there's always those tapes....

Protip, don't fuck with time. It never goes how you want it to.
>>
>>5226969
>That's an involved technique, not for a single day's visit
I'm sure he can get a lot done if we at least lay out the method we use for the technique, that way he can practice on his own time and we can give him pointers when we drop by.
>>
>>5226969
>>5226972
Yeah I considered it for a few more minutes and realized that we'd have to deal with Carnival Forever AND the Time Patrol on our asses. But I can't help but wonder if we got our hands on the tape and televised it to captured Time Patrol members...
Ehhh, probably a really bad idea.
>>
>>5226973
True. But is that what he wants with this visit?

That’d be giving them a chance to escape. That Carnival Forever Requiem DOES lose, eventually

QM UPDATE

Having just realized what this weekend is, this episode will not be continuing this weekend, but the next. In exchange, I’m going to be beefing up the intermission and posting it this Saturday afternoon instead.

Hwut? Karn cannot enter his kingdom, so it would be ruled no contest?
>>
>>5228833

I'd like to see him or his Dad try to stop Karn.
Though it'd probably get ruled inconclusive since Jesus would just rise again in 3 days.

>>5228862
>I'd like to see him or his Dad try to stop Karn.
That’s what King Yemma is for. And if he can handle the likes of Buu, Omega Shenron, Demigra, etc, then he can take you.

>>5228873

Ha
>>
>>5228935
And if we decide to just beat his giant red ass until he lets us in?
Also what's the rule on using Instant Transmission to travel from the Mortal Realm to Other World?
>>
>>5228939
Remember that Goku who casually teleports across the known universe with IT still needed King Kai to telepathically give him a beacon to make it across.

Ain't no fucking way Karn can sense any powerlevels across that gap to teleport in.
>>
>>5228947
Oh yeah...he DID have King Kai on telepathic speed dial.
I guess there actually was a precedent for Karn being able to use Instant Transmission through telepathy after all.
>>
>>5228939
You’d have to best him. Even Future Chaya can’t beat him with all her power.
>Instant Transmission
If you have permission, you can go. Goku got his approval to traverse Snake Way and go to King Kai’s, which hasn’t been revoked yet.
>>5228947
It’s too far to sense normally, Goku couldn’t even sense Gohan going Super Saiyan 2 from the mortal realm after all. But Gohan sensed him going SS3, that seems to be more of a one-way barrier
>>
>>5228957
Where does Yemma stack up to the Grand Priest then?
Does his power vary depending on whether or not he's in his office?
>>
I just came up with a name for the training planet. Remember Action Park? ACTION PLANET!
>>
>>5228980
Real talk? I say we leave the planet entirely nameless.
On top of that, we remove any record of it from every star chart and archive we possibly can.
If it's a proving ground for the next generation, making it a priority target for anybody looking to subvert the PTO or exterminate the Saiyan race.
By that logic, it's best that we keep its entire existence a secret.
>>
>>5229019
Here's the kicker, we can just say its a Vox subsidiary, hide in plan sight.
>>
>>5228965
The angels are "outside" the authority of the other deities, barring Zeno.
>>5228980
Ha.
>>5229019
That's an exceptionally good idea.
>>
>>5229019
>>5229022
Soo... do we even have a location for this kind of planet? We should probably put it somewhere around the edge of the universe, kind of like namek but farther. It doesn't sound like an easy task terraforming an entire planet that may be inhospitable for life, but the PTO can cover it with no outside noses snooping in, right? I'm all for making the shit untraceable on the Galactic Wide Web and every archive in the galaxy, but I don't want some space urchin coming across it by chance and either
A: Getting their ass killed
B: Snitching about where it is and what it is
C: Hijacking young saiyan's gains.
>>
>>5229031
>Soo... do we even have a location for this kind of planet?
Classified.
>We should probably put it somewhere around the edge of the universe, kind of like namek but farther.
That's a terrible idea, leaving young Saiyans far from support in an isolated corner of space.
>>
>>5229031
It doesn't even necessarily have to be a planet, it could just be a forest moon orbiting a PTO controlled planet.
>>
>>5229045
>Classified
Fair enough.
>That's a terrible idea, leaving young Saiyans far from support in an isolated corner of space.
I am concerned about how far it would be. And just now I considered it would be out of the PTO's sphere of influence, which is also real bad. I just don't want some dipshit fucking around and finding it on complete accident. Then again, I'm probably underestimating how well the PTO keeps their territories, and how they keep secrets even better.
>>5229134
I like the way you think, Anon. There should be some good exoplanets around too.
>>
>>5229134
And why terraform a dead world, instead of slightly changing one to better suit your needs? The less attention drawn to the planet the better.
>>5229180
The PTO doesn’t have the same sort of space combat capabilities the Covenant did, relying more on the strengths of individuals. Best way to hide it, and the resources going to develop it, will be in establishing a new military base somewhere. Like Planet 79

Could always pay people for a sketch and then when it's completed you ask them to continue work on it and you'll pay the rest of the rate for a fuller piece. At least then you can get a framework you can still use even if you don't get the whole thing like you'd like.

Everything's such a hassle nowadays.

Artist are by their nature complete and utter faggots, shopping around for one hungry enough to do the work without them going to fucking furries for their filth money is harder than many realize.

Never had a problem until recently, which is a damn shame. At least my regulars kick ass, I just pay them and let them rock.

Hey now. The very first artist SCQ had that was paid was an /aco/ furry artist.

....well there is your problem. Its either furry's or footfags that draw the best. Wonder what he's doing right now.

-Saiyan Conqueror Quest 173 Intermission-

AGE 750, CRIMSON DEMON VILLAGE OUTSKIRTS

“Hey Chilli, what do you think of this one?” Megumin asks, holding up a red and black zigzag-patterned quilt up on the wall behind the head of the table
“Perfect.” you reply, placing your hand on the floor and focusing your energy. You create a small pair of crystal spikes by her hands, the twin spikes piercing into and holding the rug up on the wall. She then moves several steps aside towards the corner, you helping her by drawing steps out of the wall for her to stand on. Then when she has each corner spread out, you pin them one after another with more small crystal spikes. She hops off your makeshift steps with a satisfied grunt, walking over to you then turning to look at the hanging blanket as you retract the steps from the wall. “What do you think?”

“It looks great Chilli!” she says, hugging onto you from the side. With that final large rug hung, the dining hall with the massive, sixteen-seater rectangular table is finished. “I can't wait to have your whole family over here to eat with us!”
“I think that I'll have to go hunt us a lot more to eat first.” you say with a chuckle, then catching Megumin by surprise sweep her off her feet. “Hey, you gotta come outside. I have to show you something.”
“Ah-Oh, okay. What is it?” she asks, but you only give her a grin and wink in response. “Hey! C'mon, tell me! What is it?”
“You gotta be a bit patient.” you reply, flying down the circular flight of stairs then down into the main foyer. The main room is built around an ancient stone well, the wooden bucket full of water resting on the well's wall. You carry her out past it, through the portcullis with the sharp crystal-spiked lattice overhead then out onto the open mountainside.

You and Megumin had built your home outside the village proper, on the small mountainside overlooking both her home village on one side, and the no-man's land bordering the Demon King's territory on the other. You had gotten permission from Chief Hiropon to build your home as a fortress, overlooking the edge of the Crimson Demon Clan's territory to help protect the border. But you hadn't told Megumin this yet, wanting to surprise her with the final exterior design. You had spoken with her parents Yuiyui and Hyoizaburoo, as well as her younger sister Komekko about what sorts of house she had always wanted. And they all said the same thing: a castle. So a castle you'd built, and now it's time to show off your efforts.

“Here.” you say, turning around so the both of you face the castle. “What do you think?”

You hear Megumin gasp, watching with baited breath as she looks up, and up, and up. While she'd been decorating the dining hall, you'd also been expanding your magic, and raising your home higher and higher. The central hexagonal building now stands four stories tall, three opposite corners forming a triangle of circular towers that each stand another story above the central building. Your smooth, magical crystal forms the walls of this building, clear thinner crystal forming the windows on the second and third floors. It stands imposingly atop the hill, like a crystal spear pointed at the sky.

“It...This...” she stammers, struggling to find the words. “This is... AMAZING! How did you know this is exactly what I wanted?!”
“I asked your family.” you say with a smile, Megumin leaning up and kissing you. Returning the kiss you feel yourself getting that same warm, fuzzy feeling in your chest like always when you can make her so happy. As she pulls back her smile is infectious, you feeling a goofy grin come to your own face as well. “Did I do good Megu?”
“You did amazing.” she replies, hands wrapping around your head and pulling you into another deep kiss for several moments before pulling back and turning to look at the castle. As she does you see her brows go down a bit as she looks it over with a more critical eye.
“Is everything okay?” you ask her, suddenly feeling a bit worried you'd messed it up somehow. “Did I-?”

“Nonono, it looks great!” she says, quickly keeping you from thinking you'd done something wrong. “But it's just...Well...It looks too unnatural.”
“Unnatural? Megu, it's made out of magic crystals.” you say, feeling a touch more relaxed. “Of course it isn't going to look natural.”
“That's not what I mean. It's just...” she says, hand to her chin, before suddenly snapping her fingers. “That's it! I know what it is! There's no masonry!”
“Masonry?” you ask her, confused. “Of course there's not, it's all one giant crystal. If you want, I think I can put that sorta design on it.”

So you walk over, laying your hands against the smooth wall, and close your eyes. Focusing on the design of the Chief's house in the village, and the brickwork there, you focus and begin carving that pattern out from your hands. It takes only a moment, and as you step back you can see your handiwork. And you have to agree with Megumin, it DOES look even more impressive like this.

“It's perfect!” she says, hugging you from behind. You smile, reaching back and holding onto her back with your hands as you look over your handiwork for several quiet moments before Megumin speaks. “But what are we going to do with all this extra room?”

“I had an idea.” you reply, turning around and picking your wife up. Holding her in your arms you start carrying her back inside, then head over to the one tower that you all had been sleeping in as your bedroom. It's not a small room, not like being inside a pod, but it's only slightly larger than Megumin's room in her parents' home. “Instead of sleeping here, I was thinking we could have the entire third floor as our bedroom.”
“The WHOLE third floor?” she asks, eyes wide. Are you sure?” she asks, astonished. “What would we do with all that room?”
“I have a couple ideas.” you say, picking up the small bed and hoisting it onto your shoulders. “C'mon, let me show you.”

“Let's go.” she replies with a happy smile, you backing out of the small room and letting Megumin take the lead, following her up the stairs to the second floor dining hall, then up the stairs further into the barren third floor. You walk into the middle of the large room, then set the bed down there.
“We have this whole house to ourselves, we can have as big of a room as we want.” you say with a smile, then lay your hands down on the crystal by the smallish bed you two share. Focusing your magical energy surging throughout the crystal, you raise the bed off of the ground on four bedposts, raising it up a foot or so while making a headboard on the end not facing the door. “Our home can be whatever we want it to be.”

“Well, then if that's the case...” she says, bringing her hand to her chin as she ponders how she wants the room to look. She explains to you how the bedroom's decorations are the most important of any room in the house, as it's the room you'll see first when you wake up in the morning and the last thing you all will see before going to sleep. You have to agree with the sentiment, and as you all She has an idea what to do with all this space, and as you discuss it you find her idea for the room oddly comforting. Before coming to this world, you'd always lived in the more sterile, cold interior designs of the PTO. But that design isn't comforting or welcoming at all, the exact opposite of the soft, comforting design she lays out. “What do you think?”

“I like it.” you reply, and focusing on the crystals raising the bed you begin lowering it back to the ground. Then INTO the ground, you recessing your bed into the floor in a gentle dome-like slope. “But...I think we're going to need more blankets and pillows for this idea.”
“I agree. We were starting to run low anyways.” she replies, smiling as she looks down at what will be her proposed fluffy bed pit idea. “But I don't think that Mom's made any more yet.”
“I was thinking we should head to the bigger city, what was it called again?” you ask her, unsure. “Axel?”

“Yeah, we can go.” she says, then reaches for her coin satchel on her hip. You watch as she digs a few coins out, then frowns. “I don't have enough for more than one.”
“Guess I can take on another of those quests or two, perhaps they'll have a good one today.” you say, standing up as you quickly think over what you need. You and Megumin head back down to the first floor, and gather your things for a trip out to the 'big' city. As you return to the first floor you grab your coat, slinging it over your shoulders and sliding your arms in the sleeves, then grab your hat off the peg by the portcullis and put it on your head. Then you grab both your magical staff and Megumin's, your wife throwing her cloak over her shoulders then taking her staff from you. As she does she also grabs her hat, then the two of you head outside.

You reach back, laying a hand on the wall and exerting a small amount of magical power to bring the portcullis down, the heavy crystal spikes sliding down into their grooves and locking in place. Anything larger than your fist isn't getting in there, unless is can match your old man's physical power. And there isn't anything on this world capable of matching his might.

“You ready?” you ask, your wife nodding with a smile. Lifting her off her feet, you hold her in a princess carry, her free hand going to hold her hat in place as you crouch, then launch yourself straight up into the air. You soar far above your home, and turning in place slowly as Megumin scans the horizon. After the moment she spots the walled city, pointing it out and you take off. Flaring your blue aura up as you fly, your ki shields Megumin from the whipping winds she can't withstand as the two of you head directly towards the walled city. As you approach, Megumin suddenly starts, almost jumping a bit in your arms.

“Hey, we should give them a heads up.” she tells you. “Remember what happened last time?”
“How could I forget?” you reply with a chuckle, then telepathically reach out to the Adventurer Guild's main receptionist, a woman by the name of Luna. “Hey, Luna, this is Chilli. Megumin and I are approaching the city, and I'd appreciate not being shot at by the adventurers today.”
“Thank you for letting me know, I'll make sure you aren't designated a hostile UFO.” she replies, business as usual. “Are you coming into town to pick up another quest?”
“Actually, yes.” you reply, flying over the open plains nearing the city's airspace filled with those giant frogs. “We're looking to make a bit of cash, if anything good is available.”

“We just had new quests added this morning, so there should be something to suit your talents.” she replies, you nearing the city walls. And knowing the magical defenses, you slow down and begin to start your landing descent outside the walls by the opened gate. “Good luck, Dragonslayer.”
“Thanks.” you reply, then ending the mental connection speak to Megumin. “Luna says we'll have a bunch of quests to choose from, want to head there first?”
“You can go on ahead, I'll go visit with Wiz and Vanir first and see how much your prototypes made.” she replies. “If you need me for a quest, let me know.”

“Will do.” you say, kissing your wife then the two of you split up. She heads towards the small shop run by the undead lich Wiz and her fellow demon Vanir, both former members of the Demon King's Army. Despite being a demon and undead, they seemingly have a good working relationship with Megumin's father. Wiz, as you'd discovered, is actually your father-in-law's biggest customer. She buys even his more useless magical devices, some of which are so bad you could call them cursed items. You have no idea why, or who she's selling such devices to, but that's not something you're worried with. You're here for the quest board in the Adventurer's Guild, and making your way through the busy streets you're there within a minute. There is a small crowd outside, several people gathered around a figure wearing heavy-seeming metal armor, and wielding a sword absolutely radiating with magical energy.

“Amateur.” you mutter, walking past the boastful blond youth and heading inside. You open the door, bell ringing rustically as you step into the dimly-lit interior. You see several adventurers sitting at the gathered tables, some eating and others drinking, but nobody's there at the board. And all conversation stops, more than a dozen heads all turning to see who's walking in. And seeing you, they all seem to relax and go back to their meals, drinks, and conversations. You give a friendly wave to the receptionist, then walk to the board and inspect the quests hanging on it. There are the usual monster extermination quests, lost people, but one in particular catches your attention. It says that there is a powerful ghost haunting the old, abandoned church near the mountainside. Apparently the ghost is of a former cleric to a deity of revenge and manipulation, and has proven too powerful for anyone of the clergy to defeat.

“Should be easy enough,” you think to yourself, then looking at the reward for the quest feel your jaw drop. This has to be a mistake, there's absolutely no way a simple ghost exorcism is offering a reward more than ten times that of defeating a Manticore that's been spotted in the area. This has to be wrong. So you do your due diligence, taking this quest off the board to show the typo to Luna.

“Did you find what you're looking for?” she asks as you approach, seeing you holding one of the quest notes in your hand.
“Actually, I think I found a typo.” you say, handing it over to her. “This reward seems awfully high for an exorcism. Do you think they accidentally added a zero?”
“Oh, you found that one.” she says, and Luna's usually cheery attitude dims a bit. “Already four adventurer parties have attempted to lay that ghost to rest, but all have failed. Two never made it back, and I fear the worst for them.”
“I'll take it, and look out for your missing adventurers.” you assure her, and although hesitant Luna checks off the paperwork saying you're out on that mission. “Where is this church located?”

“A fool's errand, boy.” an older man's voice calls out, you turning to see a man in priestly white robes surrounded by drinks. “No mere child could hope to ever stand against such a malicious force. Hell, I don't think it's actually a ghost, but a demon summoned by those damned Regina cultists before they all died off. And good riddance to 'em!”

He then slams another mug of something back, then slams the wooden mug onto the table with a dull thunk, before turning around to face you. He looks like death warmed over, gaunt and pale, with dark circles around his eyes, and despite the drinks you see his free hand trembling. You recognize the despair in his face, having seen that same expression reflected back at you

“Do you know where that old building is?” you ask, curious why someone in one of the priestly orders is consuming so much alcohol. You'd been under the impression that wasn't something they did. “Could you lead me there?”
“Lead you there? Lead you there?! You're out of your damned mind, brat!” he shouts, rising up to his feet. He's surprisingly tall, easily twice your own height, but with his gauntness he's hardly intimidating. A sneeze could potentially end his life, if the deathly aura around him is any indication. This man was nearly killed, and survived due to no consequence of his own actions. “I lost my whole party to that monster, no way in hell am I going back there!”
“Oh my, you poor thing.” a woman's soft voice calls out. You look past the guy to the door, and see a dark-haired woman walking up towards the both of you. Several patrons mutter the name “Serena” as she approaches, the woman seemingly radiating with motherly kindness. And although she's shaped more like the demon Towa than your own mother, she just seems to exude a calming, comforting aura as she steps up to the older priest. Then, to his surprise, she takes his hands into her own before bowing her head. “Let us pray.”

The woman, presumably named Serena begins praying with the older man, and despite being right next to them you can't hear what she's saying. But as she prays, a soft, golden light begins enveloping them both from above. You can feel her divine power enveloping the man, it's soothing energy clearly calming and healing him. He takes a deep breath in as she finishes speaking, the golden light vanishing as he seems to have been reborn.

“Thank you, Serena.” he tells her, joy in his voice. “Bless you. Bless your heart.”
“It was my pleasure.” she says with a gentle smile, the man throwing money onto the table with his empty drinks and heading outside with a skip in his step. She then turns to you, giving you a better look at her appearance. She's rather well-dressed, wearing a long coat with a cloak and with a small casting staff holstered on her belt. You notice a mole on her left cheek, the woman's curious gaze on you. “I couldn't help but overhear that you're taking on that dangerous quest, umm....”
“Chilli.” you answer, holding out your hand. As you learned is a professional greeting among adventurers here on this planet. “Serena, I presume?”

“Yes, I am Serena.” she answers with a warm smile, taking your right hand in hers. As she does you can feel that she's got a lot of magical power, perhaps even double what you do. But it's not like yours or Megumin's, it feels more like that magic Caulifla uses. “And I do know where that abandoned church you are searching for is, but...”

“But what?” you ask her, releasing her hand as you feel her pulling back a bit. “Is something wrong?”
“Well, I can't in good faith take you there.” she says, voice full of concern. “If I was responsible for such a promising young adventurer having an illustrious career cut short due to biting off more than they could handle, I don't think I could forgive myself.”
“You don't have to worry about me, ma'am.” you say with a reassuring smile. “How about I head outside and show you? I can't do it in here, as that could upset some of the patrons.”
“Very well, if you're going to be so insistent.” she replies, but then gets a more stern look on her face. “But this does not mean I agree to take you. You're going to have to show me something extraordinary for me to agree to this.”

“Don't worry, I'll show you why I can do this.” you say, leading her out of the building. By the door, you see the mysterious, pink-suspender'd man with a mohawk, and he gives you a small nod. You return the gesture, then head out into the Adventurer's Guild courtyard with the woman before turning back to face her. “Here, watch this.”

And then you snap your left hand's fingers.

As you snap your fingers, the ancient tome gifted to you by the ancient Death deity Jergal is summoned to your open palm. The moment that leather-bound text touches your hand, you feel your connection to his power bloom. Death magic surges up your arm, the flesh and muscle disappearing from your right arm as the connection forms. Serena takes a worried step back, eyes wide in fear, then suddenly takes a step back forward. Then, to your shock, bows at the waist to you.

“Forgive me, young Reaper.” she says, raising back up to face you. “I hadn't realized that you were him.”
“Him?” you ask her, uncertain. “Who do you think I am?”
“You're the off-worlder, the one who beat one of the Demon King's generals, the Chimera Sylvia.” she says, seeming to be more tense than before. No doubt because of her being able to sense your deathly aura. So you snap the book closed, and send it teleporting back into your house with a thought. The menacing aura around you disappears, and the woman quickly relaxes. “Being a servant of Death, I'm certain you'll be able to lay that poor spirit to rest. Very well, I shall lead you there. But it will a bit of a trek there.”

“That's no problem. If you want, I can carry you and we can fly directly there.” you reply, and to your surprise the woman blushes a bit.
“Umm, no, sorry. I'd rather walk under my own power.” she says, sounding almost nervous about the thought. “But if you're ready to go, we can head out now.”
“Just a moment, need to let Megumin know I'm heading out.” you say, and after focusing your mind a moment think out to your wife. “Hey Megu, I got a quest. Going to go exorcise an angry ghost outside town, want to come along?”
“Can I blow the building up?” she asks, to which you answer negative. “No thanks. If you need me though, let me know. Wiz and I are cooking up something!”
“Will do hun. I'll be back shortly.” you tell her, then ending the mental link address Serena. “I'm ready.”
“Oh, you can Message as well.” she says, sounding a bit surprised before regaining her composure. “Alright then, if you're ready we can depart.”

“I'm ready if you are.” you reply, the woman nodding and begins walking away from the guild. You follow behind her, Serena leading you from the guild and towards the restless spirit. After a minute or so, you see that she's leading you to one of the city walls. “So, where is this abandoned church? I'm still not familiar with this area.”
“That old building is outside the city walls, but not outside the city itself.” she says, you seeing the guard lecherously leering at Serena before noticing you behind her, his expression growing confused. “I saw it once in my travels, before it had become abandoned.”

As she leads you from the city proper, she tells you tales of her travels while working as a priest, the places she's seen and interesting people she's met. And you begin telling her of some of your own adventures, like the war against the Hive creatures. Then, for some reason, you find yourself compelled to tell her of your troubles. You tell her about that damned clown, and how it still haunts your dreams to this day. As you talk about this, you feel yourself begin tearing up, and she stops walking. To your surprise she turns around, kneeling by you, and embraces you. Her warm, soft, gentle embrace simply breaks something inside you. All the emotions inside you just boil over, and as you sag against the older woman you just start crying.

You don't have any words to express what you're feeling, just a primal release of emotions you've kept pent-up and hidden away for so long. And the whole time you're crying, sobs wracking your body she just holds you, whispering nothings into your ear that are somehow just as comforting as her embrace. She holds onto you with such kindness that you just lose it, and for quite a time just bawl like your younger siblings when they were upset. After some time, you finally cry yourself out, and without a word Serena lets you go.

“Are you alright Chilli?” she asks, you wiping your face with the inner elbow of your sleeve before meeting her gaze.
“Y-Yeah. Sorry about that.” you say, the woman smiling benevolently. “I, I don't know what came over me.”
“It is quite alright, young adventurer.” she says, you feeling something unfamiliar in your chest. Looking down you see golden light around you, and feel that same unique feel of her magic flowing into you. Looking up curiously to her, you see her hands clasped before her, and that same magic around her hands. After a moment or two she lowers them, and gives you a glowing smile. “Anytime you need to get something off your chest, I am here. I don't understand those burdens you carry in your heart, but I am here for you.”
“Thank you.” you say, giving her a weak smile then walking over to a nearby pond. Splashing the water on your face, you focus your mind back on the task at hand. “Alright, I'm ready to keep going.”

“Good. I expect you to do your best.” she says, and again you feel her magic in your chest. It fills you with determination, and aren't sure why but you feel even more confident that you'll do whatever it takes to win. “Don't give in, no matter what.”

The rest of the trip is uneventful, as over the next hour Serena leads you from the city into the forested rolling hills at the base of the nearby mountain range. No monsters try attacking either of you, no doubt wary of your unfamiliar scent. But as you walk deeper into the forest over the beaten path, she eventually leads you to a clearly-abandoned building. It's an old wooden structure, windows missing their glass panes, and holes in the roof that have let the weather in. But despite the broken windows and vines growing up the sides, the front double doors are still closed up tight. No doubt the efforts of the last group who'd failed to subdue this spirit.

“Here we are.” she says, stopping at the edge of the clearing. Or former clearing, as the building's been abandoned long enough for new trees to have begun growing in that area. “This is the only known Church of Regina, the goddess of manipulation and revenge in all of the Kingdom of Belzerg. “Good luck Chilli, I'm rooting for you.”
“I won't fail.” you say confidently, drawing your staff from within your coat with your right hand. You flip it around to hold it by the back end, and with a small effort channel your magical power into the instrument. Your staff's pale crystal blade quickly grows from the instrument, motes of pale azure light raining down from it like a light dusting of snow. Armed with your reliable instrument, you begin striding forward confidently, walking right up towards the doors.

Standing directly in front of the solid-seeming wooden doors, you consider kicking them down and rushing in ready for war. But you decide that wouldn't be likely to peacefully send the ghost to the afterlife, and instead approach this a bit more respectfully. So you reach out, grabbing the left handle and pulling the door out. Rusty metal squeals as you slowly open the door, but while you do what looks like pale mist begins seeping out through the door. Opening the door fully, you hold your staff before you and walk in. Your crystal scythe blade's pale light partially illuminates the room, the knee-level mist hovering around the floor. The room has two columns of mostly damaged and broken wooden pews lining the central aisle to the altar, You can see signs of a previous struggle the nearer you get to the altar, but as you approach hear a ghostly, definitely-female voice start speaking.

“Welcome, traveler.” a source-less woman's voice calls, you getting the distinct feeling that someone or something is watching you. “Have you come seeking the blessings of our vengeful goddess, Regina?”

“Who are you?” you ask the voice, stopping in place and trying to discern where exactly the spirit is.
“I am Lucy, the last of my goddess's faithful worshipers.” the voice continues, you seeing a clear shape beginning to form kneeling before the altar. “I am sadly the last of my goddess's faithful flock, the only one who still believes in her. Have you perhaps come to join me in worshiping Regina? She can grant you powers you wouldn't believe. She could enhance the powers of an archwizard such as yourself to such heights that you could even defeat the Demon King.”
“No, I have not.” you tell her, raising your left hand towards her. “You have remained here in the mortal realm long past your death. It is time to move on. The afterlife awaits you, Miss Lucy.”

“No, I will not go!” she shouts, her spectral form raising and whirling to face you furiously. The mist hovering around the floor turns into spectral flames, blazing up to life around you both as the entire building trembles with her rage. “My goddess needs me! If I quit praying to her, she could disappear forever! I will NOT allow you to take her away, no matter what!”
“Your time in this realm is over, and so is hers! Crystal Magic: Paledrake's Lair!!” you roar, swinging your left hand down and slapping it on the wooden floor. The instant your skin makes contact your magic begins spreading, quickly covering the entire interior of the building in translucent, pale azure crystals. As the spirit is cut off from 'her' domain the flames and mist vanish, leaving the translucent woman looking around in confusion.

“Wh-What is this?” she asks, looking around at your crystals covering every surface. She reaches out, and to her surprise can't just go through it. “What have you done?”
“Taken away your home field advantage.” you reply with a smirk, rising back up to your full height. “Within this domain, I am in full control.”
“Hmph. You think YOU'RE in control?” the spirit asks, suddenly grinning maliciously and raising her arms towards you. “Your first mistake was coming here all alone, now there's no one to save you. And with me being the only remaining worshiper of my goddess, I can bring the full weight of her powers to bear! Ningyo Geki!

From each of her fingertips what appear to be violet threads shoot forth towards you, her magical energy feeling uncannily familiar. You have a feeling that, whatever she's trying to do, you don't want to be on the receiving end of it. So with a thought you focus, raising a wall of crystals up between the two of you. Her threads crash into the crystal wall, and to your surprise they actually pierce into it. But they lack the power to actually pierce all the way through, stopping only an inch or two in. Looks like her magic cannot compete against yours.

Suddenly your crystal wall begins changing, the side facing you transforming into a wall of spikes aimed directly at you!

“What the hell?” you say, shocked. Then the spikes all rapidly expand, thrusting towards you with lethal intent! You don't have time to try and control your wayward magic, instead twisting clockwise and leaping back to dodge them. All but one of the spears misses, but one cuts you just below your left knee. “Tch!
“Ahahahaha! I told you, Regina is the goddess of manipulation as well as revenge!” she boasts, then from the bottom corner of your eye see the spikes beginning to grow from the ground as well. Leaping back you again narrowly avoid her turning your spell's effects back against you. “With her blessing, I can not only manipulate other people, but their magic as well! This entire spell of yours is now MINE to control!”

“Oh yeah? Then let's see you control this!” you shout, crossing your arms before you while reaching into that wellspring of golden power hiding just beneath the surface. “HAAAAAAAA!!!”

Your ki explodes, surging golden up around you as your power explodes. Your aura blazes up around you, the sudden pressure shattering the crystals around you. More and more ki explodes out as you unleash your Explosive Wave, it destroying the spell around you. Crystals shatter, your Paledrake's Lair splintering and falling to pieces around you and quickly vanishing as if they never were. The ghost's jaw drops, the shock evident on her face as your golden aura blazes like a raging flame around you.

“Wha...What are you?” she asks, taking a frightened step back, then another. What the world ARE you?!”
“I am Chilli, son of Karn. Super Saiyan, Archwizard, husband, and Reaper.” you say, raising your left hand and snapping your free hand's fingers. The ancient tome once more appears in your hand, and the powers of Death begin inundating your body once more. The specter's eyes snap directly to your now skeletal-seeming hand, eyes going even wider. “And this is the day your spirit is laid to rest. Combo magic: Crystal Reaper's Scythe.”

Ghostly crystals begin sprouting out along your staff's length, each one radiating with Death's own power. They transform the single-handed short staff into a full length, two handed scythe with a more than two foot long blade at the end of it. Snapping the ancient book closed, you banish it with a thought then take your weapon in both hands. This fight is over.

“No, no no no! I won't die, not again!” she shouts in panic, backing up right against the altar. She looks back at it, then back to you, eyes wide with fear. She then throws her hands forward, and once more unleashes her spell once more with a desperate shout. “Ningyo Geki!!”

Again she fires ten violet magical threads, but this time you're not going to simply stand there and try to block them. Instead you dash forward, ducking under the threads and closing the distance almost instantly and swing. Your blade almost connects with her neck, when suddenly you feel several piercing stabs into your back, arms, and legs. And to your horror, you can no longer move!

“Gah?” you exhale, partially in pain and also in surprise. Looking over your shoulder, you see that the threads turned midair, and all impaled you from behind. “D-Dammit.”
“You almost got me.” the ghost says, sounding genuinely surprised. “Had you been faster, you would have gotten me. I must say, I'm impressed.”

But as the specter ducks under your blade and moves off to your right side, you feel her magic inundating your body; the threads binding you in place and keeping you from moving so much as an inch. But as her magic binds you, you feel your eyes widening in surprise as you realize that you've felt this magic before. This EXACT SAME magical energy, just an hour before. You feel your eyes widening in shock, realizing that you've been manipulated from the very beginning.

“Now, how about we have you take that pretty little head off with that dangerous scythe of yours?” she says, and for a second you feel your arms moving without conscious effort. But after less than a second of movement, your body simply stops. “Huh? What's this?”
“What're you waiting for? Do it.” you say, turning to meet the ghost's gaze. She looks worriedly towards you, and notice her hands are trembling. Then you hear it, feeling the two identical magics inside your body warring for dominance while that same comforting voice from earlier plays in your mind.

“I expect you to do your best.” you hear Serena's voice say, and suddenly the threads binding you are no longer enough to stop you. Whirling around your deathly blade flashes, cutting through the threads binding you to the ghost with a single fluid, practiced motion. “Don't give in, no matter what.”
“Why? Why could you resist my goddess's power?” she asks, shocked. “How is this possible?”
“You've been betrayed by one of your own.” you tell her, the ghost's eyes widening. “She led me here to take you out of the picture.”
“One of my own? Wait, do you mean?” she asks, you seeing a small, worriedly-hopeful smile on her face. “There... There's another worshiper of Regina in the world?”

“It would seem so.” you say, sighing out and ending your spell along with your transformation. “Looks like you are no longer the last worshiper of your goddess after all.”
“I did it.” the ghost says, taking a shaky step back and sinking down. She sits on one of the pews, looking down at her hands. “I did it, Regina. I held on long enough for you to gather more worshipers.”
“You did it.” you say, setting your staff on the altar and walking up to her, re-summoning your magical tome in your left hand. “Before you head off to the afterlife, what was your name again?”
“Lucy.” she says, you writing her name and date of death in your tome as per your duties. As you do, you say it aloud, the ghostly woman smiling softly as you speak.

“On this day, Lucy's duty to her goddess was fulfilled, and she passed peacefully from the mortal world.” you say, looking up as the spirit's body begins turning more and more transparent. “Farewell.”
“Farewell, Chilli.” she says, her ghostly body vanishing completely with a smile on her face. “Remember, do as is done unto you.”

And then she's gone. Lucy the spirit is no longer, and your quest is complete. But despite this, you have a feeling that your fight is only just beginning. Taking a deep breath, you turn back towards the altar, and take up your staff once more. You then spend a few seconds thinking over your plan, and as you walk towards the front door to face Serena you reach out to your wife telepathically.

“Change of plans Megu.” you think to her. “This quest was a trap.”
“What? Chilli, what the hell happened?” she asks, you quickly catching her up to speed on everything that happened. Then, to your surprise, another unfamiliar mind enters your private communication.
“Well well, looks like another clueless mortal fell into that temptress Seresdina's clutches.” an unfamiliar yet clearly-demonic mind reaches out to your own. “I'm sure she pulled at your heartstrings and made you fall madly in love with her as well!”
“What the hell?” you reply, confused, but instead of answering Megumin addresses this voice directly.
“Vanir. If you don't stop, right now, I'm going to destroy you.” your wife thinks, and you can feel her murderous intent through the psychic link. But then you remember that Vanir is supposedly a former Demon King General, and if he knows this woman,... That can only mean one thing.

“So she's another one then, out seeking revenge for that chimera.” you say, then ask directly. “So, how do I beat her? Or at least get over this stupid manipulation magic she's got me with?”
“Oh, that? That's easy.” the demon answers, your wife's rage not lessening as you both 'listen' intently. “Her manipulation magic only functions when the target, in this case you, feel as if you owe a debt to her.” the demon continues as if your wife isn't ten seconds from obliterating him and the magic shop he runs with that lich, the other former Demon King General. “No doubt by her expert manipulation skills. The key to overcoming this ability of hers is simple: you have to repay your debt to her.”

“My debt?” you ask, confused. “What do you mean?”
“However she did it, she no doubt got her magical manipulation hooks into you.” Vanir explains. “You have to figure out what you 'owe' her, and find a way to pay that debt back. Once you do this, then she will no longer have any hold over you.”
“Pay her back?” you ask, thinking it over several seconds. Then it snaps, you remembering something you'd learned just minutes ago. “How about making her the only remaining worshiper of Regina, giving her full access to her goddess' powers?”
“Oho, you have made her even more of a threat than she was.” Vanir replies. “That would certainly count. Although, I would advise fleeing, boy. You don't stand a chance against the full power of a goddess directly.”

“You clearly don't know who I am.” you tell the demon, confidence swelling. “I almost killed one god already, and would have finished him off if ANOTHER deity hadn't stepped in.”
“Wait, you almost offed a deity?” Vanir asks, you feeling the demon's shock through the telepathic link. “Impossible. There's no way a mere mortal like yourself went toe-to-toe with a god.”
“When I'm done with your former comrade, how about you try me yourself?” you ask, feeling yourself grinning. You've been through much worse, you can handle this easily enough. “I'll still have more than enough left to take you down, fly my wife home, and create a second home while I'm at it.”
“Oho, you think you're that powerful?” the demon asks, a happily taunting edge to his voice. “Well, how about you handle Seresdina first, then if you survive we can celebrate your great victory?”

“I'll hold you to that.” you tell the demon, then shutting him out focus your mind solely on your wife. “I'll finish this up quick, then we can finish up the shopping, okay?”
“You'd better.” she replies teasingly. “If not Wiz and I will go, and you're gonna have to carry it all back.”
“Well then, I'll have to make this quick.” you tell her, chuckling aloud. “I'll be right back.”

Ending the mental link you clench your fists, and digging even deeper into that golden well of power within you, and Ascend. Your aura blazes up around you, sparks dancing around your body as you take your strongest physical form. Then you reach out with your right hand, grabbing your staff with telekinesis and drawing it right into your open hand. As the staff strikes your palm you focus your power, creating the blade of crystal while snapping your left fingers. Your Jergal tome reappears in your left hand, the power of Death flowing through your body. And now, fully armed and ready to battle, you head towards the door, and kick it open.

“Oh, Chilli. Did you do it? Have you actually laid that poor spirit to rest?” Serena, or rather Seresdina asks you.
“You can drop the act, Serena.” you say seriously, glaring at her. “Or, should I say Seresdina?”

Her expression shifts, first shock, then doubt, and finally smugness. Her entire demeanor changes, but still she doesn't draw her holstered staff.

“So, you figured me out, have you?” she asks, expression neutral. “But that's too bad for you, Chilli. I have already neutralized you as a threat. KNEEL.”
“Sorry, but that won't work on me.” you reply, grinning a bit arrogantly. “Not anymore. My debt to you has been more than repaid by what I did here.”
“You figured out how my magic works? Hmm, very well, guess we'll do this the hard way.” she replies, drawing her staff in her left hand. “The Demon King has marked you for death or subjugation, either will suffice. But I would have preferred a cute young boy such as yourself to be my servant, instead of just another corpse.”
“I won't be the one falling here today.” you reply, and bring the full force of your power to bear. You won't lose, not today and not to her! “Death Magic: Dust to Dust!”

-Saiyan Conqueror Quest 173 Intermission End-
>>
>>5231759
Happy Easter everyone! I hope this epilogue is as fun to read as it was for me to write out!
>>
>>5231762
That's some good stuff, GD. Chilli's a fuckin BAMF.

Maybe we need to find him an actual trustworthy magic user to give him some therapy like this demon bitch did to manipulate him. Might be good for his clown PTSD.
>>
>>5231784
It's pretty clear Chilli needs somebody, anybody, to talk to about his problems.
That requires expressing vulnerability, which is why he vented to Seresdina as opposed to Megumin.
The only person more qualified than a complete stranger would have to be somebody that he trusts and knows he can let his guard down around.
If Karn doesn't fit that bill, I don't know who would.
>>
>>5231784
He can be, yes. But does it have to be a magic user?
>>5231798
Don’t we all?
>If Karn doesn't fit that bill, I don't know who would.
But does he WANT to appear vulnerable and weak to his old man?
>>
>>5231835
>But does he WANT to appear vulnerable and weak to his old man?
Of course not, but that's why we have to reinforce the fact that it's completely okay if he does so.
It might not happen at first, but that just means we have to show him again and again.
>>
>>5231983
He wouldn't accept, not at this point in his life.
>>
>>5232084
You're 100% correct. That doesn't mean we don't keep trying though.
That's what a father should do, right?
>>
>>5232206
Very true. But Chilli doesn't want to appear weak to his family, especially not to his father and wife. Who he wants to appear strong to, more than anyone else. Meloka would have a better chance of getting Chilli to open up, in a year or two.
>>
>>5232227
Damn, it's too bad we're not playing as Meloka yet.
>>
>>5232251
Not a likely pov in most situations.
>>
>>5232259
Would Karn dying even be enough to justify a POV shift at this point?
>>
>>5232334
It would, but it wouldn’t be to Meloka. One(or more) of the kids would take up that mantle, most likely Broly or Chilli at this point.

>take up that mantle
Oh, so it would be a whole "Death of Superman" type of deal eh?
Who's most likely to fill in the role of Doomsday?
>>
>>5232531
Nobody would tru and claim Karn’s title. But in that scenario, a lot of things would fall apart. If Freeza was denied his wish, which would be changed to reviving Karn, he’d become far crueler and malevolent than he was in canon. Meloka, well. We’ve seen how SHE’D take such a loss. Caulifla’s faith would be broken irreparably, and Chilli would go down a certain path we’ve already seen glimpses of. As for who, the better question is WHAT
>>
>>5232563
Holy shit that Chili is metal as fuck. my poor boy.
Funny how in the end that killing Karn would make the universe even worse. How much of a headache is the "Karn Dies" timeline for our favorite punching bags, the Time Patrol?
>>
>>5232593
Chaos Master Chilli goes hard.
>How much of a headache is the "Karn Dies" timeline
>the
>implying there’s only one
Karn, being a Fateless, creates many different timelines with his choices. Especially his failures, which have led to the darkest timelines. Including Future Chaya’s
>>
>>5232605
What about a Future Broly timeline? His power must be further beyond maximum.
>>
>>5232605
You'd think the Time Patrol would just cut their losses and put all the "Karn Ate Shit" timelines in their own little scroll closet.
>>
>>5232607
His timelines always end up in roughly the same place, without outside influence. DBZ, DBS, Heroes, it’s always roughly the same.
>>5232610
They don’t interfere with most of them.
>>
>>5232688
Yeah well this time will be different. He'll pull that hyourinjutsu thing and yank SSJ5 out his ass.

I'll still always prefer Z to Super's version of Broly. Even if the backstory is trash, the character is just way cooler.
>>
>>5232797
>hyourinjutsu thing and yank SSJ5 out his ass.
Hwut? Never actually read that fanfic. Z Broly was more menacing, but died stupidly to the power of plot like most movie villains. S Broly was an actual character, until he raged and couldn’t think. We’ll see how(if) that’s changed in Superhero
>>
>>5232827
https://www.youtube.com/c/Hyourinjutsu/videos
This guy.

Super-Broly wasn't much of a character tho. He's honestly like a poor man's Eighter but with anger management issues included. Then again, it's hard to find any movie characters that aren't absurdly shallow or reminiscent of previous characters.
>>
>>5232849
I’m not channel diving to find a singular reference. And I didn’t say S Broly was an original or deep character, but at least he had one compared to most watered-down movie villains. Slug and Cooler were their racial villain archtype but more bland. Turles was Evil Goku before it was done to death, Bojack was an even less interesting Turles/Slug, Janemba was worse Buu, and Hirudegarn was less-interesting Kaiju. Only Beerus/Whis are interesting movie original characters. S Broly’s less Eighter and more like Nippon Tarzan.
>>
>>5232892
Me either. Just thought I'd point it out in case anyone wanted to watch some classic DB pixel vids. Stuff's old school.

All I'm saying is that it's not really fair to say he's an "actual character" when he's just as cookie-cutter as the rest of them. Z Broly is an "actual character" too. And his entire personality is just looking up the definition of the word sadist in the dictionary.

Eighter and Super Broly share extremely similar personalities. With the functional difference being Broly needs to go to therapy. And a green waifu. Nothing wrong with it but when it comes to personal preference I just prefer Broly being a bad guy and not just a guy.
>>
>>5232797
Same, anon. I think i’ll always prefer lunatic Z Broly over space Tarzan S Broly. This is almost certainly because of nostalgia, but i’m too set in my ways to change.
>>
>>5232983
Nostalgia definitely plays a part in it. Simpler times.
>>
>>5232915
Why I said only Beerus/Whis are INTERESTING movie original characters.
>preference I just prefer Broly being a bad guy and not just a guy.
If Z Broly had more of S Broly’s backstory and would just snap, a Jeckel/Hyde dynamic it would have been pretty interesting. Everybody’s got preferences.
>>5232983
I’ll be honest, never liked Z Broly as a Character. Design and everything was cool, but he just wasn’t it for me.
>>
>>5233415
Kinda the inverse for me, i think S Broly’s character is fine but i really didn’t care for his design. I think it’s the colors that turn me off the most. But hey, different strokes for different folks.
>>
>>5233684
>I think it’s the colors that turn me off the most
Z Broly looked like an awakened, long-sleeping god while S Broly’s design is just derivative and less inspired. l
>>
>>5233718
I think the pelt over PTO armor is actually a classic Saiyan look, but the classic Z design does feel more appropriate given the circumstances.
The green and purple doesn't really work for me though, not gonna lie.
>>
Second Intermission is in the works, this time featuring Caulifla in the time between Karn going to see Vox and what happens when this episode continues.

Hey GD, I have a question, bit of a long one.
I understand that Karn's Danger-Sense is a trait that only came about due to the circumstances of his upbringing and subsequent adult life, but is it possible that any of his children inherited it as well?
To that end, would that make them more predisposed towards learning to harness Ultra Instinct?

No. Something like that isn’t inheritable over a single generation, or even 2-3 generations. Plus, Karn’s children all have lived far too comfortable upbringings for them to develop it.

Previously on Saiyan Conqueror Quest:

After a day of training, Karn learned from Daiko that the prototype underwater suit was ready for testing. Karn donned the suit and took it into the sea, finding one of the Mindslayers Karn wanted the suit to fight, and quickly dispatched it. Taking the sea monster's corpse back to land, Karn ok'd the design and gave Daiko, B7, and their team the Mindslayer he killed for their work. After this Karn learned of a challenge being designed for Chaya, but Karn had a bad feeling about this and went to confront Vox directly about it. Meeting face-to-face with Dreadzone's owner-operator, Karn discussed his misgivings with it and Vox revealed enough of the upcoming event to put Karn at ease. But as he was trying to leave, several Lin Kuei robots along with a mecha Sangheili attacked, Karn and Tanya dispatching them with ease. As we rejoin Karn, you've returned home, and nothing else of note happened that day. Nor the next, or the day after, the days progressing as normal. But the next day after, just after finishing the students' training, you received a mental communication from your oldest-born son, Chilli.

“Hey Mom, Dad. Megumin and I finally finished up our place today.” he thinks to you both. “Is everybody home? I was hoping to have everyone come up to visit and check our new place out.”
“Your sister Chaya got home just yesterday, so we're all here.” you answer, sharing a look with Meloka. And to your surprise, she seems genuinely excited by this news. She looks over to you with a wide smile, eyes sparkling. “Sure, when's a good time for us to head over?”
“Whenever you're ready.” he replies. “Lunch is on us, so don't eat before heading over. We're preparing a treat.”
“That sounds good, we'll all be up thataway in a bit.” you tell him. “Just finished up training with the students today, actually. We'll just clean up, and head on over your way.”
“Great! We'll be at the village to meet you!” he replies, ending the link. As he does, for a sliver of an instant you feel your mind connect to his wife Megumin's, but then the connection ends. Leaving you and Meloka sharing a look.
“He has his own place.” she says, looking excited at the prospect. “Our little boy's grown up quite a lot, hasn't he?”
“That he has, hun.” you say, pondering your next move. “That he has.”

Well? What do you do?
>Gather everyone and head over immediately via Instant Transmission, the sooner you all arrive the better
>Take the kids and wash the day's workouts off of them, as well as yourself before heading over to Raven for a teleport to Chilli's home

"Hey, before we go, we should go see if King Vegeta wants to come along." you say to your wife, Meloka looking over curiously to you. “Turles is our ambassador to the Tamaraneans, right? So wouldn't that make our son the ambassador to the Crimson Demons?”
“Huh, I hadn't thought of that.” Meloka says, hand going to her chin as she thinks it over. “Yeah, I think that would be a good idea. I'll get the kids ready, if you want to go see if he's free real quick?”
“I'll be right back.” you say, raising your right hand to your head and readying to teleport to the king's side. Focusing on King Vegeta's ki, he's seemingly done with his training and the only ki signature close to him is his bodyguard, the former assassin Emilia Zoldyck. So you focus on his ki, and using your Instant Transmission teleport directly to his side.

One moment you're standing outside in the afternoon sun, the next you find yourself somewhere inside King Vegeta's palace. The king is getting dressed, Emilia holding onto his armor as he pulls his skintight back on. You appear, both Vegeta and Emilia whirling on you with lethal intent. But upon seeing you, both freeze, then lower their hands and dispel their charged-up attacks.

“Afternoon, Karn. What's wrong?” he asks, pulling his clothes on as Emilia picks back up the fallen armor.
“Nothing's wrong, want to head to the Crimson Demon village with us?” you ask, King Vegeta looking to you curiously. “He's got his place set up now, and invited us to come over and check it out. So I figured that you'd want to head over with us. Especially since he's an ambassador for us over there.”
“An amba- You know, I should probably make it official.” he says, as Emilia puts the armor on him. In her “Full Power” form she towers over Vegeta, lifting the armor over his head and putting it on his shoulders. But as she does, you notice something surprising. His knees buckle a bit, as if she'd dropped a heavy weight. His royal armor is weighted? “Guh. Alright, I'll come with you. Emilia, would you watch over everything until I get back?”

“Of course.” she replies, giving him a Saiyan salute. “I'll inform Nappa where you've headed off, and let him handle the evening's business until you return.”
“Thanks Em.” he says, then turns to you. “Shall we?”
“Let's go.” you say, holding out your left hand as you raise your right back to your forehead. He takes your left hand, and together the two of you teleport over to the Guardian of New Salda, Raven. Appearing right by her side, you and King Vegeta see the rest of your family all gathered and ready to go as well.

We should totally steal the weighted armor gimmick if we can.
On the topic of PTO armor though, at our level, does it actually provide any protection?

From glancing slashing blows mostly.

Would making it dense enough to be weighted (to the point where it would actually provide resistance to Karn's Ascended Berserker form) make it any more resistant to damage?
Conversely, would that impact its ability to conform to multiple body types and sizes?

“Hey Chilli, we're ready.” you reach out to your son telepathically. “Are you ready for us all to head on over?”
“Of course, we are waiting beside the usual portal.” he replies, then directly to Raven adds. “Thanks for this!”
“Of course.” she replies, then to your surprise adds. “Thanks for the tour earlier.”
“Wait, what?” you ask aloud, turning to face the Guardian with a curious look. “When did you head over there? I thought you couldn't leave New Salda?”
“My body cannot leave, no. But that doesn't mean I can't go sightseeing from time to time.” she says with a mischevious wink before opening the portal before you all. “Let me know when everyone's ready to head back.”

“Appreciate it as always.” you say, giving her a smile and hair ruffle before striding through. You step through the portal, the gravity immediately dropping by nearly two dozen times intensity. Taking a deep breath you see your son, and his wife both waiting for you in the village square. “Afternoon Chilli, Megumin. I heard you two have a brand new place to show off?”
“Chilli!” Caulifla shouts, blazing past you and tackling her brother. He plants his feet, catching her and keeping his sister from bowling him over.
“Guuuh, hey sis. How've you been?” he asks, hugging her as the rest of your family come through. He then sees King Vegeta walking through, and his eyes widen in surprise. Chilli looks from the king to you, confusion apparent on his face.

“Greetings, ambassador.” King Vegeta says, addressing your oldest born son. “I trust you've been able to handle matters here?”
“Ambassador?” he says aloud, clearly pondering for a moment before realization dawns. “Of course, everything is under control.”
“Good.” he replies, giving a small nod at Chilli's quick understanding. “Now, do you know where the chief of this village is? He and I do have a small matter to discuss.”
“Yes, he's in his manor.” your son says, pointing to the largest home in the village proper. “He's settling a dispute at the moment, if the shouting a minute ago was any indication.”

“Very well, I shall seek his audience.” your king says, striding forward as Caulifla still clings to her brother. Vegeta lays his hand on Chilli's shoulder a moment, the two clearly exchanging words telepathically, then he continues walking past towards Megumin's friend and rival Yunyun's family home. “Farewell.”

“Are you all ready?” Chilli asks, speaking to all of you.
“YEAH!!” Maz and Kayle both shout excitedly, rushing up to Chilli. “Where is it?”
“Haha, alright. Follow us, our house isn't down here in the village proper.” Chilli says as he lets Caulifla down, then holds his hand out to Megumin. She takes it, and then your son takes to the air holding onto her. You all rise and follow him, Chilli flying towards the mountains surrounding the village. As you follow him and his wife up the hills, looking up you begin to see a tower appearing overhead. Then as you all rise to the crest of the highest peak, overlooking the village and the empty plain on the other side, but your eyes are locked on the tower rising up before you. It's seemingly made of solid blocks of Chilli's crystals, rising up several stories before you.

“WOOOAAAH!!” Maz and Kayle shout excitedly as they see your son's fortress of a home. “So coool!”
“You made a castle?” Chaya asks, your eldest daughter sounding genuinely surprised. “That's awesome!”
“It was a lot of hard work, but it's finally finished.” he says, the young couple turning around to face you all. “What do you think?”

Well?

"Nice placement for a tower, gives you a clear advantage against any land-bound enemies approaching the village." you say, turning and looking back over the Crimson Demon Village before turning back to your son. “Looks solid, are those your crystals it's made of?”
“Yes, it's all actually a single powerful crystal.” he says, you feeling your jaw drop a bit. This whole tower is a single crystal? That's quite a lot of power he had to use to make this thing. “And it's almost completely immune to magic.”
“Really?” Caulifla asks, passing her jangling chime from her tail to her hand. “May I?”
“Of course.” he says, stepping aside as Caulifla begins muttering to herself. “Just don't hit the windows, they're a little more fragile than the rest.”

“Sunlight Spear!” she roars as she finishes her chant, and launches a giant lighting bolt directly at the tower. Her magical lance strikes the side of his home, sparks dancing around the area of impact for a couple seconds before they disappear entirely. But once they're gone, there is no sign she even tried anything. “No way, really?”
“Really. It can even withstand a full-power Explosion.” Megumin says proudly. “Now, who wants to go on the tour?”
“I DO!” Maz calls out.
“ME! ME!” Kayle shouts excitedly as well.
“AaaaaaAAAA!” Karn Jr calls from your wife's arms, his little arms waving wildly and excited to be along for the ride.
“Alright, let's go inside.” Chilli says, laying his hand on the crystal wall beside the crystal barred opening. Then, to your surprise, they all begin rising. As if on some sort of hidden mechanism, the bars which are revealed to be heavy spikes buried in the crystal floor begin rising, clearing the way to a pair of large double doors. Which then begin swinging open, revealing a wide open room with an old-fashioned well square in the middle. The walls, floor, and even ceiling are all covered in rugs and carpets of various designs and textures, Chilli not slowing and leading you all to the back, where a round room with a narrow staircase leads up into the building. “Follow me.”

As he heads over you look around, noticing the entire interior is a hexagonal shape, with three circular areas on opposite sides. Each of those circular-looking areas has a doorway that's far too small for you to fit into right now, you're going to have to transform back down into your base form to fit through. Taking a deep breath you focus, and begin powering back down. The room instantly seems a lot larger as your powerlevel plummets, and you see your oldest-born looking over to you questioningly.

“Oh, that's right. I didn't make the staircases with your transformation in mind.” he says to you, rubbing the back of his head almost apologetically. “Sorry they're a little small.”
“Don't worry about it, that's no problem.” you reply with a chuckle. “It's the two of you's house after all, not mine. It should be for your comfort first.”
“Right.” he says, but still seems a little embarrassed. Shaking it off, he then leads you all upstairs, and shows off the different rooms. The second floor, above the entrance is what looks like a lavish dining hall.

“Wow, impressive.” Chaya says, looking around with a critical eye. “It looks bigger in here than the outside would suggest.”
“Looks can be deceiving.” Chilli says, bringing up the rear and closing the bars and doors behind him. You look around, seeing the long crystal table with seats for fourteen people set up in the middle, a black and red carpet hung from the wall behind the head of the table. In fact carpets seemingly line most of the interior, hanging from the walls, covering the floors, and even a few hanging horizontally on the ceiling itself. From the center of the ceiling drops what looks like a chandelier of sorts, made of Chilli's crystals but they're glowing brighter than the few hints of the wall you can see, illuminating the room. “What do you all think?”

“That's a lot of seats for just the two of you.” Meloka notes, then turns her gaze to Megumin with a twinkle in her eye. “Is there something you'd like to tell us, perhaps?”
“What? Whaaa-! Nononono, nothing like that!” Megumin assures your wife, arms flailing as you look over to them, curiously. You wonder for a few moments what that's all about, when Chilli speaks up.
“Let's keep going.” he says, you all following him up to the third floor. And see something quite unexpected. The entire room slopes downwards, almost like a shallow bowl, and in the middle is what can only be described as a bed of pillows strewn about. The entire room looks soft and fluffy, and to nobody's surprise the youngest of your mobile kids all jump right in. “This is our bedroom.”

“You guys sleep like this?” Chaya asks, surprised and clearly contemplating having this for herself. But Maz and Kayle aren't so reserved, immediately asking.
“Mom, Dad! Can we get one of these!” they ask, rolling around atop the pillow pile. Meloka glances over to you, clearly giving you the ball here.

Well?
>Sure, why not? You're sure your ship has enough spares they can make something similar back home

"If you two can find enough to make one when we get back, I don't see why not." you say, to the younger twins' cheers. They roll around another minute or two before climbing back out, and your son leads you all up to the next floor. Which seems to be a workshop of sorts, unfamiliar artifacts and tools strewn about five large crystal tables, and two smaller wooden ones.
“This is our workshop.” he says, he says, gesturing grandly to the room behind him. “It's not much, yet, but we're hopefully going to have some surprises ready for the next time that Demon King's forces appear.”

“Cooking up something special, huh?” Chaya says, lifting a crystal weapon that appears somewhat similar to the Covenant's needle-throwing weapon, spikes all over it's back. “Really making one of these?”
“It was an idea.” he replies, then turns as Tatsu and Tomi lift something strange. “Hold on, be careful with that! Don't touch that trigger, or it'll go off!”
“This is something.” Broly says, you looking over to your adopted son. “It looks like he's been hard at work.”
“That he has.” you reply, and grab your younger twins' hands before they can grab some dangerous-looking spiked orbs off the nearest table absently. You wonder when he's had time to eat, or sleep, or train on top of all this work he's been doing. But then he calls out as you ponder, drawing everyone's attention.

“Come on everyone, I want to show you something.” he says, you all following him up the final staircase. You bring up the rear, making sure none of the kids decide to snatch anything they shouldn't off of any of those tables before leaving. You walk up the final staircase, emerging onto the roof of his small castle to an incredible view. You and your family are all looking down over the Crimson Demon Village situated in the valley, and despite being used to aerial views, the one below is magnificent.
“Wow...” Meloka says softly, capturing how you all feel looking down on your son's adopted home.
“It's such a view, isn't it?” your son says, turning to you. “Well, what do you think?”

"You've built a great place here for you and your family to grow, son." you say, walking over to Chilli and laying your hand on his shoulder. He looks up at you with an odd expression, then gives you an appreciative smile.
“Thanks dad.” he says, the two of you looking out over the Crimson Demon Village down below. Most of the kids have already taken to the air, flying around and around the tower excitedly. But as you are admiring the scenery below, Meloka speaks up.
“Hey, Chilli. Have you seen those before?” your wife asks, you both turning to where she's pointing to. You see what almost look like a pair of birds, before realizing they're far too far away to be birds. Unless they're absolutely massive.

“Oh, great.” he says with a sigh. “More dragons. Give me a few minutes, and I'll take care of them.”
“Sure you don't need any help?” you ask, your son shaking his head.
“I'll take care of this, it shouldn't take too long.” he replies, clenching his fists and in a flash Ascending. His aura surges golden up around him, then he draws his staff from within his robe. “Hey Megu, I'll be back in a bit.”
“Be careful.” she replies, the two sharing a quick kiss before he flies off. Broly and Chaya both immediately ready to follow him, but he calls back to stay put and 'enjoy the show'. You hear Chaya 'heh' as he flies off, but Broly remains quiet.
“Where Chilli goin'?” Kayle asks, turning around confused.
“He's going to put on a show.” Tatsu and Tomi tell her in perfect sync. “Watch and see.”

“A show?” Maz asks, tilting his head comically before turning back towards where Chilli flew off. Then you hear it, the two dragons roaring in challenge at your boy. Then, to your surprise, he roars back.
“GRRROOOOAAAAA!!” Chilli roars, and forms a giant crystal dragon around his glowing body! A pale, crystalline dragon grows up around him, and he roars again in challenge to the same-sized other dragons. You see them both stop, clearly as shocked as you are by his sudden transformation. The two pale dragons turn and share a glance, then together roar at your son once more. He replies in kind, golden glow still emanating from his magic armor's chest. But then he fires his ki, a powerful golden beam blasting out from his crystal magic dragon's maw and completely consuming one of the flying lizards. After a few more seconds his attack ends, and the charred corpse of the winged beast begins plunging towards the ground below.

“Woah. Now THAT'S flashy.” Chaya says, you hearing the awe in your eldest daughter's voice. You can tell she's a little jealous of the technique, but Broly's glaring at it. Hard.
“You okay?” you ask him telepathically, Broly's eye twitching but showing no other outward signs.
“Why didn't he try this in the tournament?” he asks, not necessarily asking you but just asking. “He chose such a risky combination of techniques to fight me, when he could do this?”
“Do you think you couldn't smash such a thing?” you ask, Broly finally turning around to face you as understanding dawns. “It may look impressive, and I'm sure it offers him some protection as well. But something that intricate and big no doubt consumes a lot of power. Against something noticeably stronger than him, it probably wouldn't be all that useful.”

“You're probably right.” he says, also telepathically as he turns back to the fight. The second pale dragon roars and charges in again, Chilli and the creature slamming into each other midair. Their bodies entwine, and begin dropping out of the air like a stone. “Clever.”
“Such a fall will probably break that one's neck.” Meloka says aloud.
“It will. That's how he killed the last one.” Megumin says cheerily, but you notice something behind her eyes as she says this. You recognize the look, it's one Meloka has given you on more than one occasion, each after a near-death experience. She's clearly worried about her husband. “Speaking of, guess what's for lunch?”

“Really? We get to eat that dragon?” Maz asks, Megumin chuckling a bit.
“Not that one.” she says, as you hear the distant 'thud' of Chilli and the other dragon slamming into the ground outside the village. “Your brother got another one the other day, and it's in the cellar. Once he's back, we'll get started fixing it.”

DAD TIME!!!

>“Why didn't he try this in the tournament?” he asks, not necessarily asking you but just asking. “He chose such a risky combination of techniques to fight me, when he could do this?”

Broly obviously still has his fears regarding hurting those he loves (persisting even though he now has good control over his Berserker form); he probably feels quite guilty about Chili being so injured during their fight / was very affected by it psychologically.

Karn should just re-assure Broly that family is always going to feel safer testing riskier shit (like a 'magic form' plus kaio-ken combo) for the first time when fighting/sparring with family (whether with Karn, Broly, or another sibling). Simply because a safety net exists in case something goes wrong; the foe isn't going to seize the opportunity to finish them off for good.

Tell Broly that while that might sometimes mean that something goes wrong and the family member ends up getting hurt / hurting themself while fighting Broly, Broly shouldn't beat himself up over these occurences; it means the sibling trusts him and feels safe enough around him to test that shit in what he/she feels to be a protected environment. He is not a danger to his family, but rather an older sibling they feel safe with.

Very different circumstances than the difficulties of his youth, which his hard work and discipline have resolved. He should feel proud of that, too.
>>
>>5240874
Very good points to be made to him, at some point.
>>
>>5240874
>>5240877
I'll back this Anon's autism the moment it becomes relevant.
>>
>>5240879

I saw it as relevant because of how I interpreted Broly's comment.

It might have just been, "He held back a powerful technique, so I didn't get to experience the full challenge, so my win counts for less, and that's annoying."

Or (as I interpreted it), it might have been resentful; "If he could do something this powerful (and relatively safe), why did he pull such a reckless fucking move against me instead, nearly kill himself in the process, and leave me feeling like shit about it?". And my comment was about how to address this resentment, and explain why the younger siblings might pull that sort of risky shit with him and why he shouldn't feel too guilty if it goes awry.

"Need a hand?" you ask her, holding out your right hand. "Dragons aren't exactly light, and I'm a decent hand at cooking prey with my energy."
"Appreciate it." she replies with a genuine smile and a nod. "It's all down in the freezer, down in the cellar. I would appreciate the help."
"I'll follow you down." you say, Megumin heading back down the stairs. You follow her down flight after flight, emerging back into the ground floor with the well in the center. She then turns to the other staircase, the one that leads down deeper into the tower, and leads you down. You descend down beneath the ground, this stairwell more than twice as long as the other ones, and as you do the air becomes colder and colder. As you reach the bottom your breath is forming clouds before you on each exhale, a shiver running up your spine as Megumin rubs her arms with her hands. “What is this?”

“It's our freezer.” she says, leading you to what could either be an ice or crystal door, with a simple horizontal sliding latch holding it shut. As she grabs a hold of it in both hands, and begins sliding it open, a wave of even colder air blasts you. “Brrr! That's the one good thing about those white dragons, their Ice Glands can really keep a room cold.”
“It's certainly cold.” you say as she opens the sliding crystal door, you both entering the circular freezer. Metal hooks are embedded in the crystal ceiling, and from those hooks hang huge slabs of red meat. But they aren't what draw you eye. On a crystal pedestal in the center of the room rests a small organ the size of your fist, and it absolutely radiates with cold. The closer you get to it the colder the room feels, frost forming on your armor as you get within arm's reach.
“Don't touch it.” she says seriously. “If you touch it, it'll freeze directly to your hand and we'll have to cut it off.”
“Oh, that's good to know.” you reply, carefully pulling your hand back. “So which ones are we taking up?”

Megumin directs you on which of the massive slabs to take up, while she grabs onto a couple of smaller containers hidden in the corner. Hefting the frozen meat slabs onto your shoulder, Megumin directs you to head back up first, the young woman shutting the door back behind you all as you start back up the stairs. Back onto the ground floor you stand aside, waiting to see where she wants you to put it, and she leads you over to the third circular tower area, the one without any stairs. Inside you're surprised to find the ground has metal bars embedded in it, and what looks like burned wood beneath it.

“Is this-?” you ask, Megumin opening a compartment by the outside of this tower and drawing out several cut slabs of wood the size of your forearm one after another.
“Yup, this is our grill.” she says, then after drawing out a dozen logs shuts the door to her wood bin. “Mind opening it up? Just lift it straight up.”
“Sure.” you reply, reaching down with your free hand and grabbing the grate, lifting the entire thing straight up and out. Megumin kicks in the logs, and you set it back down in place. “Now what?”
“Put the meat all on the grill, and stand back.” she says, walking over to where her staff is hanging on the wall beside her hat and taking it. “I'm about to turn up the heat.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERKnkHq-6XA

You set them all down, spacing them apart on the grill to cook, then stand back as Megumin approaches, chanting the words to use her magic.

“Darkness darker than dark and blacker than black.” Megumin begins, having claimed her staff is now pointing it at the grill pit at your feet. “I beseech thee: combine thyself with my deep crimson, and let the flames of eternity burst forth! The fire of life, bless this meal, and sate the appetites of my husband and kin! Burst forth! Grill Explosion!”

A massive blast of fire explodes up from beneath the meat in the fire pit below, the sudden heat causing the frost on your armor to burst into steam. But it seems she's not done yet.

“Hurry and flip them over.” she says, you not questioning or answering. Instead you reach out with your telekinesis, and grabbing them all you raise them off the grill, and quickly flip them. Then she repeats her chant, and once more fires off her magical blast. You and Megumin repeat this process three more times, until the exterior of the meat is charred. She then takes a knife out of her belt, hidden behind her cape, and suddenly you recognize that weapon. A blade of energy springs to life from the ivory handle, the young archmage slicing into the nearest slab of meat with it. A cloud of steam escapes the red and brown meat, the smell of it making your stomach growl. “Medium rare. Perfect.”
“Perfect indeed.” Chilli says, your son walking through the opened front door with a smile. “Now, let's get this all upstairs and eat!”

After a few minutes of preparation, the food is all upstairs on plates and platters on their giant table, your family is all sat down, and you all eat together. Chilli is sitting at the head of the table, with his wife on his right and you seated to his left. Meloka's to your left, Caulifla to Megumin's right, and you all enjoy your first meal together under your son's roof.

“And hopefully not the last, either.” you think to yourself as the meal winds down, everyone talking and smiling as they're all too full to want to get up immediately. You look over your family, Chilli and Megumin just smiling at each other and holding hands while Meloka holds Karn Jr, sleeping peacefully in your wife's arms despite the noise. Everyone seems happy and content, even Broly's usual stone-faced facade cracking as he looks genuinely happy as he looks over at the oblivious couple. It's for days like today that you so often risked your neck, standing up against impossible odds time and time again. Nothing could ruin this moment. Which is, of course, why something tried to ruin it.

KABOOM

The entire hall begins glowing orange around the rugs and carpets everywhere, as the sounds of a massive blast can be heard. You're immediately on your feet, Meloka, Chaya, the oldest twins Tatsu and Tomi, and Caulifla all leap to your feet ready for action. But Chilli seems completely unphased, walking over to one of the curtains covering the window and looking outside.

“Ah, there he is.” your son says, seeming completely relaxed. “Everybody relax, I just have some unfinished business to take care of. But please stay inside, they can't get in here.”
“Chilli, what's going on?” your wife asks, but he doesn't answer her, shaking his head. Your son seems only mildly irritated as he heads down the stairs, you turning a questioning gaze over to Megumin. Who also only seems annoyed, and not really worried. You stride over to the window he'd looked out, and see a lone figure standing on the flat mountaintop across from this castle's entrance. You watch as your son strides out, wielding his staff with the crystal scythe blade already out and marching towards the cloaked form without hesitation or fear.

“It's that damned goddess again, isn't it?” Megumin asks with a sigh, rubbing her temples. And at her words and reaction, you feel your jaw drop. A goddess? What the hell ELSE has Chilli been up to while he's been here?

I know exactly what I'm voting for as soon as the session continues.
We're marching out there and transforming. Family doesn't fight alone.
>>
>>5240996
You could vote for such an option. But it may not be what you choose, after reading the first post back.
>>
>>5241006
Some wild shit would have to go down for me to not cast a vote saying I want to go out there and get ready to rumble with our son.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand now that I say that, I am immensely worried about whatever this Godling is distracting Chilli from.
>>
>>5241010
But would that be what he wants? Or does he want to win this fight again on his own, in his own way?
>>
>>5241045
If he can handle it on his own, that's fine.
I still want to go out there and make it crystal clear that we're always there for him, rain or shine.
>>
Honestly this guy is lucky it isn't Karn coming out to play. Because Karn wouldn't. And a skull removal the speed and efficiency the likes of which this world has never seen would take place.
>>
>>5241056
A nice thought
>>5241066
But would Karn survive?
>>
>>5241386

It's the truth goddamnit.
>>
>>5241431
I meant the going outside was a nice thought. But I wouldn't recommend it. You have no idea what sort of magical attack his house just tanked.

“What do you mean, that goddess?” you ask her, turning your attention back to the window. Your kids all do the same, rushing to other windows to get a view of what's happening. Tatsu and Tomi, along with Broly and Chaya head upstairs, presumably to use the larger windows of your son's bedroom to watch this fight from. “When did he do all this?”
“It was three days ago, last time we went into the city.” Megumin explains as your son stops a good distance away from the figure, the two no doubt sharing words from the gestures both are making. “He took a quest to exorcise a ghost haunting an old church, but in doing so had apparently powered up the blessings given to an undercover Demon King's General who was spying around there. Being the only follower of that abandoned goddess left, apparently she was able to channel a whole lot of magic, and nearly beat him.”

At this she stops, you glancing back to seeing Megumin looking down at her hands, your wife laying a comforting hand on her shoulder and whispering something to her. Your daughter in law looks to your wife, and after a moment and a glance towards you cracks a small smile. You have a feeling you know exactly what Meloka told her, but decide to not say anything and return your attention to the situation evolving outside. The cloaked figure has thrown it aside, revealing a woman wearing a white dress with a hood and long sleeves, arms folded across her chest. She then throws both hands into the air, and both she and he are within a violet glowing magical circle that springs to life on the ground.

“That's it, I'm going out there.” you say, raising your right hand to your forehead. Whatever's about to go down, you're not going to leave your son to face it alone.
“Wait, you can't!” Megumin suddenly shouts, stopping you in place as you turn towards her. She seems genuinely panicked as she rushes towards you, grabbing a hold of your arm as if she can actually physically restrain her. “Please, don't go out there. He has that death magic tome that shields him from others' Death Magic, but if any of us go out there we would be in danger. Zenarith is a goddess of Undeath and Disaster, and especially loves trying to curse Chilli every time she shows up. The only reason it hasn't worked is because of his own Death magic.”

Again you look out the window, and sure enough see he's taken that ancient tome out. But now more than a dozen skeletal warriors have also appeared, brandishing rusty-seeming weapons and rattling their bones menacingly. Yet your son hasn't moved from that spot, not even looking at the bone warriors and keeping his gaze fixated on the so-called goddess before him.

Well? What do you do?
>Ignore Megumin's warning and rush outside, then transform. Magic can't compete with your raw power, right?
>Stay inside, but use your telekinesis to smash the skeletons together, and keep them out of your son's way
>Try and focus on that so-called Goddess' ki, and try for an Instant Transmission assassination before she even knows you're there
>Telepathically reach out to Chilli, and ask him if and how he wants your help. You've got his back
>Stay put for now, but stay ready to teleport out there between her and your son the instant it looks like he's in trouble

For another second or two you contemplate heading outside anyways, despite her warnings, but with a sigh lower your right hand before turning back towards the window. You trust Chilli, he can handle this himself. And if he needs your help, well you're here on standby just in case. You have full confidence in your son and his power. He may not have intended it this way, but you're standing in a monumental testament to his power and skill.

The skeletons all lunge forward suddenly as one, your son swinging his scythe backhanded at the ground as if sweeping a stone. But as he does, an arc of his crystals immediately begin springing up out of the ground, and growing up the skeletons themselves. His magical crystals lock the undead in place, locking their joints and holding them all still. Yet despite making an opening to charge in and attack, at least you'd think so, he still remains standing there in the same spot. The young-seeming woman looks rather upset, stamping her foot and shouting something at him. But your son simply raises his staff and points it at her. The woman leaps aside desperately, then throws both hands out at him. Suddenly a ghostly pale half-dome appears around your son, as his Death Magic no doubt protects him from whatever she's trying to do. Then he simply starts walking forward. The dome stays centered on him as he moves, taking his time as he approaches the so-called goddess.

After a second or two she panics, slapping both hands down on the ground then rising up to her full height, throwing her arms up overhead. And from the ground between them, the earth begins moving. Chilli stops, as the skeleton of a dragon rises up out of the ground!

“RRRAAAAAAAAAA!!” the bones roar, an impressive feat for sure, but your son seems completely unimpressed. Instead he redirects his staff, then the old dragon bones begin glowing golden.
“Cover your ears.” Megumin warns, hands going to hers immediately. “This is going to be-”

KABOOOOOOM

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-Hr3XFJ8FA&

Golden light erupts from the skeletal beast in a massive blast, consuming the skeleton, the smaller humanoid skeletons, Chilli, and the goddess instantly. Immediately you can't hear anything, having not shielded your own ears, and turn worriedly to Meloka. Who's still holding onto Okira and Karn Jr, but her solution wasn't to use her hands. Instead she seemingly stretched out a couple of her Warding Eyes around the youngest two's heads, covering their ears from the blast. Seeing she's got the youngest taken care of, you turn your gaze back outside to see the aftermath of Chilli's attack.

Once the light fades, you see that the skeletons are all simply gone. Disappeared without a trace. And the woman's not looking well either, her body and robes seemingly scorched by your son's attack. Whatever it was. The two exchange words a moment before he swings, decapitating the woman with his staff's scythe blade. However, there isn't the spray of blood you'd expected. Instead, it looked like how those dark phantoms who'd invaded Towa's home perished, disappearing into sparkling motes of light that vanish after a few seconds. Your son looks down at the rapidly-disappearing corpse a moment before turning his back on it, powering back down and heading back towards the front door. Did Chilli do it? Did he really kill a goddess?

“Well done.” you tell him telepathically. “You really did it.”
“Not yet.” he replies, you sensing he's not even satisfied with his victory, and is just annoyed with the entire situation. “That was only an avatar of the deity, she's too cowardly to come fight me herself.”
“Sounds about right.” you reply, sensing his aura approaching quickly as he enters his tower. “Seems that the so-called gods are all cowards, no matter where they live.”
“You're right about that.” he answers, stepping up the stairs into the dining hall. “Too coward to fight me directly, so she sends these avatars that don't have even a tenth of her actual power.”

“You were soooo cool!” Maz shouts, flying over to his older brother. “You were all 'wooosh!' and then 'kabooom!', it was amazing!”
“Thanks.” he says, smiling at his younger brother. Seems that everything's been handled well enough.

But what now?
>Spend the rest of the afternoon just hanging out here, spending time with your oldest son and his wife at their new home
>Stay for a little longer then head on back, and fill Chilli in on the situation with the Mindslayers and ask for his help when it's time. His magic could prove invaluable

"Hey, Chilli. We need to talk." you think to him, your son looking over to you curiously. “When everything calms back down, just the two of us.”
“Oh, alright.” he replies, also telepathically while still talking with the excited youngest twin Maz. You can feel his confusion at your sudden request before ending the telepathic link, but you know he'll want to know what you want to talk about. So, in the meantime you walk over to Meloka, and offer to take Okira from her. She gladly accepts, you taking your silent daughter from your wife's arms and holding onto her. As you take her, you Summon Divine Dragon Force, and her own Stand emerges from between her lips.

“This place.... It's incredible.” your daughter's Stand Imagine Dragon says to yours, looking around. “There is so much energy embedded in this place, it's wonderful.”
“You can perceive magical energy?” your Stands asks hers, your own eyes widening in surprise. You want to learn more of this, so you start heading back down the staircase to the ground floor. “Since when?”
“Always, as far as I can tell.” Imagine Dragon replies, looking over towards the fire pit. “There was a lot of magic used, just recently here. Not as much as was used outside, but a considerable amount.”
“Interesting.” you say, suddenly thinking of the dragon organ in the tower's basement that's radiating cold and wonder what it would think of that. But then Chilli steps down the stairs, his expression cautiously worried.
“A lot of magic approaching.” Imagine Dragon says, but your eyes are focused exclusively on your son.
“We can talk here.” he says, stepping over to an area between the well and the front door. You walk over, and realize that the area has a slightly lowered circle inlaid in the ground. Stepping into the ring, walls of crystal shoot up around you both, forming a cylinder as you feel it suddenly descending down for a second before stopping. “What is it?”

“Are you okay?” you ask him, Chilli's brow immediately furrowing.
“What do you mean?” he replies neutrally, face becoming an expressionless mask. “Is something wrong?”
“No, no. Nothing's wrong, necessarily.” you say, struggling to find the right words. “I'm just worried about you, kiddo.”
“Why? Do you think that I'm not strong enough to take care of myself?” he asks, a hard, accusatory edge in his tone as he raises his voice. “You think I can't take care of myself?”

“What? No, no Chilli.” you reply, shaking your head. The Stands are both silent now, observing this conversation. “It's not that I doubt you, son. You're strong in ways that I can't even comprehend. But you've been through a lot, son. A whole lot more than even I had, by your age. When I was your age, I was fighting those Tuffle weaklings. Yet here you are, battling gods, dragons, and who knows what else? I'm not doubting that you're capable, son. You've proved that time and time again, even before you built this testament to your strength.”

“Oh, I, uhh.... Sorry.” he replies, a lot of his earlier heat gone from his voice. “Sorry. Been through a lot the past couple of days.”
“It shows.” you reply with a chuckle, then to your son's surprise you step forward, and hug him. He's shocked stiff by the gesture, standing there frozen for several seconds before returning the gesture. “If you ever need a break, where everyone isn't relying on you, you're more than welcome to come home son. I will always be here for you, Chilli. No matter what happens.”

“.....Thank you.” he says after nearly a minute of complete silence, you feeling his body tremble for a moment. You hold your son in the privacy of this isolated place, and only now he lets his guard down around you. You hold onto him, not saying a word and allow him to be vulnerable for as long as he needs. You may not be the best father, and are still figuring it all out, but you'll always try your best for each and every one of your kids. No matter what.

-Saiyan Conqueror Quest 173 Intermission II-

AGE 750, NEW SALDA

“Thank you so much for heading over here so quickly.” the Jiralhanae Chief Tiveus says, holding onto the young boy's hand who you've just healed. He'd been injured in training, his right arm nearly severed in two at the elbow. Fortunately your Stand, Triumph was able to fix him with just a few tears, restoring his limb like new. But the boy hasn't looked down at his arm since you arrived, no doubt scared of looking at it and seeing the damage again. “If you hadn't come, he may have lost that arm.”
“Always happy to help!” you say with a practiced cheery smile, then turn your attention from the man to the kid, who's not much older than you by the looks of it. “How are you feeling? That was a really nasty injury, can you move your hand for me?”

“I...I dunno.” the kid says, sounding nervous and still too afraid to actually look down at his arm. A minute ago the boy's arm had been nearly severed, no doubt from the bladed back end of that giant hammer weapon they and your father use. When it'd happened Tiveus had immediately sent you a telepathic message asking for help, you'd dropped training and waved to your dad while blasting off. He hadn't tried to stop you, instead simply reaching out to you telepathically.
“Hey kiddo, where are you off to?” he asked, not accusingly but just curious. “Someone need help?”
“Tiveus said one of his students got hurt real bad, I'm off to heal him up!” you'd replied as you flew, rapidly leaving the training area behind and flying over the forest towards the Jiralhanae village.
“Alright, take good care of 'em kiddo.” he replied as you flew away. “I know you'll get them all right as rain in moments.”

“Don't worry, let's start with something easy.” you say to the scared, worried child, keeping your voice comforting and relaxed while taking his hand up in both of yours. “How's this? Can you feel my hands, Harsium?”
“Y-Yes, I can. I can!” he says, excitement growing as his eyes light up. He immediately grabs your hand in his, squeezing tight as you flex your hand a bit to keep him from possibly crushing you. “I can feel my hand again! Thank you, thank you!”
“Of cour-oof!” you say as he lets go, lunging upright and hugging you tight. You return his hug with a genuine smile on your face, seeing Tiveus grinning at you. Smiling back you pat the kid on his back, him hugging you tight for several seconds before starting to push back against you. Letting him go, the kid runs back towards his friends, waving his newly-healed limb.

You hear the kid's friends and fellow Jiralhanae all cheering him excitedly, Tiveus offering you a hand up which you graciously take. He helps pull you back up to your feet, then thanks you with a smile.

“I can't thank you enough, for all you do.” he says, giving you a small nodding bow. “I appreciate it.”
“Don't worry about it, anytime!” you reply with a smile, shaking his hand. “It's what I do.”

But then you feel it, a familiar pulse of magical energy radiating out from the Darkmoon Pendant. You realize immediately what that means, and letting go of Tiveus immediately transform up into your Ascended Super Saiyan state.

“Sorry, gotta go!” you tell him, and kick off the ground flying back towards the house as fast as you can go. When the pendant starts pulsing, you only have a few seconds at most before you're sucked into another world to hunt down those terrible Darkwraiths. So you fly back to the ship, and see it! Right where you'd planted it in the sand outside your house, the golden haft of the dragon-slaying spear resting just outside the ramp. You dash down, flying past the ramp and snagging the weapon. Yes, you got it! “Gotcha!”

With your weapon secured you immediately power back down, landing in a roll to burn off that momentum. Rolling over several times you finally get your feet under you, sliding to a stop just before you'd have gone in the water, spraying it with a wave of sand.

“Alright you Darkwraith jerks, time to-!” you start saying, then everything goes dark. You drift aimlessly through a dark limbo for several seconds before you feel your essence rising, and you're drawn into the invaded world.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mo3nDUA3KWs

Rising up out of the æther, you find yourself in somewhere quite unexpected. Not the snowy city of Anor Londo that Gwyndolin resides in, or the molten keep of the so called Iron King, but rather a very, very foggy forest. Looking around, you realize immediately that you can't see for more than a few yards, past the nearest trees. You look to the largest one, and surprisingly see what looks like a face on it. The face looks like it's in pain, you walking up towards it curiously. It looks like a person's face, Reaching out hesitantly with your left hand, you gently touch it on the cheek.

“GRROOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAA!” the tree moans loudly, startling you so badly that you take several steps back. Your foot catches on what could be a root, stumbling and falling onto your rear.
“Waaah! I-I'm sorry!” you apologize to the tree, waving your arms wildly as it's moaning shout just keeps getting louder and louder. “I didn't mean to upse-!”

As you're apologizing to the tree, suddenly you hear an all-too-familiar 'twang'ing sound. A couple seconds later, two giant spear-like metal arrows are fired directly at you from different directions! Immediately you leap back and up to dodge them, the two arrows striking each other with a resounding 'clang'. Their impact sends one crashing down into the ground, the other right at you!

“Whaa-!?” you shout, twisting with the Su Ma technique to try and avoid the ricochet. But you aren't quite fast enough, the edge of the arrowhead slashing across your armored chest. Fortunately it wasn't deep enough to actually cut you as it sails past, slamming into what sounds like another tree behind you. “H-HEY! You missed me! HYAAA!”

As you roar, you reach into that golden power locked deep in your heart, and unleash it. Golden ki blazes as you transform, your aura blazing wildly up around you. Shrouded in your aura's brilliant glow, the heavy fog around you seemingly retreats another dozen or so yards back. And now that you can see further, you find two glowing red phantoms with the massive weapons raised, and arrows drawn back. Immediately they both fire once more, but this time you're ready. Instead of backing up you charge back forward, ducking under the lance-like arrows and grabbing your golden spear up off the ground where you'd dropped it. Then before either of the archers can draw another arrow you charge, dashing directly at the one to your right. Before the heavily-armored warrior can recover or switch weapons, you've already fully close the distance.

“GOTCHA!!” you shout, grasping the spear with your left hand as well and stabbing for their head. They try to lean back and dodge, but your heavy spear slams directly into the mossy stone helmet and knocks it clean off that fighter's head. Your blow lands with so much force that it still knocks them off their feet, launching the fighter a few yards before he crashes to the forest floor. Yet before you can finish that one off, the other one fires another shot at your back. “Nice try!”

Whirling around counterclockwise, you raise your left hand and activate the sinister Dark Hand that's become a part of you. It forms that familiar quarter-dome shield of dark energy out from your palm, the heavy spear-arrow glancing off your energy. The force knocks you back a foot or so, your feet digging twin trenches through the ground until you slide to a stop. But the arrow is knocked straight up into the air, and you decide to take the initiative back. So you leap up after it, deactivating your Dark Hand and grabbing the spear-arrow with your free hand in a reverse, javelin grip.

“Let's see how YOU like it! HAAAAA!!” you roar, pitching the metal arrow back down at him. The second warrior isn't nearly as heavily-armored as the first, dropping his massive bow and flipping aside on his hands to dodge the massive arrow. “Aww, I missed. Well then dodge THIS!”

You then focus on the spear in your right hand, and touching it with your energy electricity begins sparking along the weapon's edged blade. Drawing it back, you then thrust it towards the warrior below. From your golden Dragonslayer Spear fires a powerful bolt of lightning, catching the warrior by surprise as they land back on their feet. Your blast of lightning takes them off their feet, sending the down sliding across the ground while spasm-ing as the electricity courses through their body. Realizing that you're not gonna get a better opportunity than this, you immediately stop flying, falling down right at the Darkwraith.

“Begone!” you shout, dropping spear-first directly onto their chest. Standing on the golden crossguard, you fall with your full weight directly onto their robed chest, the stone scale-piercing weapon designed to kill dragons impaling the fleshy person through right up to the cross. The downed fighter lets out a desperate gasp, then begins fading away into swiftly-vanishing motes of crimson light. “That's one down.”

Hopping off your spear you go to yank it free, only to see the stone-armored one just walking towards you without a weapon in either hand. And can't help but feel a smile come to your face.

“You actually want to fight?” you ask, leaving the weapon embedded in the ground and walking forward. Your tail twitches in excitement, the chime held to your side jangling a bit as you begin popping your knuckles. “I'm ready, let's do this!”

But then suddenly you feel a stinging pain in your back, causing you to wince. Reaching back with your right hand as you raise your left hand and create your Dark Hand shield, you feel something protruding from your back. Grasping the wooden handle you jerk it out, and bringing it around see that it was a short-hafted wooden bolt with a wickedly sharp metal tip. Somebody shot you, what a jerk!

“HEY! Who shot this?!” you demand, holding the bolt up and expanding your ki sense back out around you. You sense three, no, four different ki signatures all close enough to have fired it. So you lower your shield, throw the bolt down on the ground before raising your right hand, pointing towards the closest ki signature. “Not gonna fess up? Guess you all are gonna get it then! HAAA!!”

Firing a Death Beam from your pointed finger, you sense the ki signature try moving but take the shot directly. Then you sweep your arm from left to right, your beam cutting through everything in it's path. Cutting down several trees, you feel the ki signatures hiding just beyond your sight all begin plummeting immediately. No doubt cut down by your sweeping attack. Ending your beam, you then turn back to the stone-armored warrior, stepping back towards him.

“Alright, let's do this.” you say, again walking towards the stone knight. He had stopped when you got shot, not getting closer or trying to sneak attack you. Which you appreciate, at least one of these Darkwraiths aren't filthy sneaky assassin-wannabes. The clearly-undead warrior raises his left hand, right held lower, and begins walking towards you once again. You punch your fists together, then start walking towards the stone warrior as well with a smile on your face. This should be good!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N96g6ehwscY

You both walk right towards each other, and after the first couple steps begin walking faster. Your opponent does as well, and after a dozen steps the two of you are running at each other.

“HRRAAA!!” the stone warrior shouts in a deep, masculine voice, leaping off the ground and firing a left flying kick at your chest!
“HAAAA!” you shout, drawing your right fist back and swinging it directly at his kick. Fist and foot collide, the impact so powerful it sends a shock wave out from the point of contact. And in that instant, you realize that this fighter isn't showing off his full power. The force of the blow knocks you sliding back a foot or two, stopping as the warrior lands on both feet. Immediately after he fires off a left jab at your forehead which you narrowly bat aside with your right forearm, just as he then fires off a right kick at your left knee. Raising your leg up off the ground you take the hit on your shin instead, the blow knocking you a bit off-balance as he immediately follows up with a heavy left aimed at your guts.

Fortunately you're fast enough to catch the punch with your right hand, but the force of his blow still knocks you fully off-balance, sending you off your feet into a backwards roll to land back on your feet. However, you've barely regained your footing when you're forced to leap over a backwards low spinning right kick, that's instantly followed up with a straight right to your chest. Once more you're sent flying back, the stone-armored warrior taking a couple running steps after you then again launching into a flying kick! But this time you're ready.

Using the Su Ma technique, you twist counterclockwise around past him and drive your elbow into his armored spine. You hear the mossy stone crack, yet feel the warrior's ki not declining in the slightest as your blow sends him tumbling to the ground. He rolls over several times until landing back on his feet, sliding to a stop facing you. He then throws his arms wide, and to your surprise begins gathering ki into both closed fists. They shine blue, the fighter throwing them together and throwing them towards you. Which fires a surprisingly-powerful blast of ki towards you.

“HAAAA!!” you retort, firing a golden orb of ki from your right hand at the incoming blast. Energies clash, detonating in a massive burst. But the other fighter doesn't slow down, instead leaping through the explosion, shielded by his armor, and launches another flying kick at you. This time it's with his left, and again you Su Ma around it. Instead of trying to strike him on his heavy armor again, this time you go for his head with a heavy left hammer-fist. The warrior brings his left arm up just in time, blocking his face from the hit but is still send crashing down to the ground.

“Grrrrr.” you grumble, glancing back as you hear another phantom fighter being summoned somewhere off in the fog. But this moment of distraction allows the stone knight to roll away, getting his feet back underneath him and rising back upright.
“Haaaa!” he shouts, firing a high right at your head that you block with your left forearm. He then tries a rising left knee that you slap down with your right hand then fires off a left of his own. But you easily deflect that blow up and over your head with your right forearm, then seize your opening. Before the stone knight can recover you leap into a rising left uppercut, your fist catching him on the chin and launching him. The man is sent flying into the air, tumbling uncontrollably as it becomes clear he can't fly. You've got him now!

“This was fun, let's do it again some time.” you say, gathering your ki into your right hand and drawing it back. Then as the fighter falls, you throw your hand forward, firing off a golden wave of ki. “HAAAAA!!”

Your energy consumes the stone knight, erasing the crimson phantom completely after only a second or two. You end the beam, sighing out and wishing you could have played around with him a bit longer. He was the first guy you've fought who actually fought with his own hands. But you can't ponder that for long, as you hear that damned noise AGAIN!

“Awww, c'mon! How are so many of these jerks are invading?” you complain, again focusing your ki sense. You can sense two ki signatures approaching from behind you, and two more from further in the forest ahead of you. So instead of turning towards the two approaching from behind, you focus on the two stationary ki signatures and start walking their way.

Your golden aura still blazing up around you, the mist seemingly keeps it's distance from you as you start heading towards the stronger of the two ki signatures. The ground begins sloping upwards, you increasing your pace to rush up. And as you crest the hill, suddenly you see the land immediately drop off.

“Woah!” you say, sliding to a stop right at the cliff's edge. But then you see a guy with no aura up around him, seemingly standing on nothing well off the edge of the cliff. As if he just walked off, and instead of falling just....kept walking. He sees you and waves, then makes the taunting arms-spread gesture you've learned is called “Well what is it?” But most familiar is the heavy brass armor, with the copper-like old bearded man mask while holding the named sword Zweihander in their right hand. So you wave back, calling out to the warrior. “HEY! Are you the guy I'm here to help out?”

The 'Giant Dad' warrior gestures for you to come towards him, so without hesitation you do. Stepping off the edge you fly over, stopping right in front of him and tilting your head curiously.

“So, you can fly too? Cool.” you say, then notice that he's holding a bell that looks similar to your own in his left hand. However, it is upside down. The little bell is held suspended over his hand instead of below, and you hear the warrior murmur something. Curious, you drift a little closer, but as you begin hearing what he's saying you understand it. You recognize the words of one of the most powerful miracles you know, eyes widening in surprise. You're now in range for the Wrath of the Gods! “Oh n-!”

“HAAA!” the 'Giant Dad' knight roars upon completing his incantation, and a wave of unstoppable divine force crashes into you. You try resisting the blast of divine wrath, but it's impossible to stand against. The wave sends you flying back, flipping backwards through the air until you crash back-first against something solid enough to stop you.
“Okay. Oww.” you say, looking to the side and find you've been embedded in the cliff wall by the force. “Alright, jerk. Now it's my turn! HAAAAAA!!”

With a shout your golden aura blazes up around you, shattering the rocky wall you'd been sent into. The warrior raises his left arm, golden lightning bolt forming, but you're already done with him. You raise your power to it's peak, then launch yourself directly at him. The man throws his attack down at you, but he's far too slow. You easily evade the crackling bolt, dashing past it and under the knight, stopping right behind him back-to-back with a smirk. You've seen these guys before, and know how they've been trained to attack. He swings predictably, whirling clockwise sword-first trying to bisect you, he only hits empty air. The moment he'd started swinging you'd backflipped up and over him, leaving the fighter wide open.

“Bye! HYAAAAAA!!” you roar, firing off a powerful right bicycle kick directly down on his head. Your hard body slams against his armored collarbone, sending him straight down into the mist. After a second he vanishes from sight, then another few seconds later his ki vanishes entirely as well. That's another one down, how many of these Darkwraiths are here anyways?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mo3nDUA3KWs

“Another one?” you say with a sigh, flying back over to the cliff edge and focusing your ki sense as you wonder just how many of them are here. You can sense another ki signature not too far away, the second one you'd sensed when approaching the Giant Dad knight, and the two further signatures have spread out, no doubt looking for you. But you don't sense the one who'd just been summoned. So you figure the other close-by ki signature is the one you're here to protect, so you fly directly over to them. And on your way through the mist, you wonder just who's the one you're here to help.

When you finally find that person, you see a cloaked figure holding a pitch black, two-handed great sword with two, interlocked twisting metal blades forming a truly sinister-looking weapon resting on their shoulder. However, the figure isn't even looking towards you. Instead they're looking at the ground, reaching down and touching something. Oh, they probably found a summoning sign for a helpful phantom, one that can help against these seemingly-endless dark hordes.

“Hey! Are you who I'm here to-?” you ask, question catching in your throat as the figure turns around. You recognize her! And so does your Dark Hand, it squirming in your palm almost as if it wants to escape you and return to it's original host. “No way, it's you?!”
“Finally, I caught the right rat.” the woman replies, throwing the cloak off and revealing her skeletal Darkwraith armor beneath. “I've been hunting for you, bitch. That Dark Hand you stole is MINE!”
“Wait, but YOU'RE a Darkwraith too?” you ask, confused. “So why are they coming here trying to hunt you?”

“Hmph. You stupid child, you know nothing!” the woman snarls, and with a flourish, Abyssal flames shroud the blade while you take a worried step back. In this phantom form, Abyssal magic hits incredibly hard and you can't really defend against it. So if she hits you, you'll be in serious trouble. “I summoned them here, with this!”

As she says this she draws what looks like the soapstone that sun-adorned, jolly knight you'd helped weeks ago gave you, except this one is red. Just like those stupid Darkwraiths' phantom forms.

“I can summon killers by touching their signs written by these, and lure stupid Blades like you here to die.” she says, putting the stone away and taking up her weapon in both hands. “And now, that you're here, it's time to take back what's mine! Get her!”
“Huh?” you say, confused, then you hear it! At least two people are sprinting up from behind you, and you realize that she's been stalling! Distracting you, and allowing her fellow Darkwraiths to get the drop on you! You sense they're only a couple steps away, no doubt within weapon ranges, so you do the only thing you can. “HAAAAAA!!”

Unleashing your ki out in all directions with an Explosive Wave, you blast the three Darkwraiths back from you. Then before any of them can recover you whirl, spear-first and thrust it at the strongest ki. You see a familiar suit of armor, the heavy stone suit of the Havel knights, and realize immediately that a one-handed thrust won't penetrate that heavily-armored warrior. So you change the direction of your attack, instead of glancing off his armor you instead stab down into the ground between his legs, the blade missing him easily. You then grabbing the crossbar with your left hand before he can get up, and with this grip on the weapon heave and throw the knight straight up into the air!

“Out of my WAY!” you shout, throwing your left hand forward and firing off a powerful wave of golden ki directly into their chest. Your attack isn't strong enough to pierce that armor, but that's exactly what you were hoping for. Instead of damaging him directly, your wave instead sends the heavily-armored warrior flying far, far away.
“Got you!” the Darkwraith woman shouts, you looking back over your right shoulder in time to see a line of black flames bursting up out of the ground towards you! So you leap aside to your left, narrowly dodging the Abyssal flames just as the other fully-skeletal Darkwraith swings his Dark Hand at your head!
“Haaa!” you shout, desperately back flipping up and over the crimson phantom to barely dodge the life-draining attack. Then before the fighter can recover you swing your right knee into the back of their head, bone shattering with a crunch.

Soundlessly the phantom drops, ki signature disappearing as their phantom body begins dissolving into crimson motes of light. You land lightly on your feet, facing the Abyssal flame-shrouded blade and taking your ready stance with the golden lance. She doesn't say a word, and instead lets go of her blade with her left hand. And to your surprise Abyssal flames sprout out of her hand, the woman drawing it back as if to throw it at you. Bending your knees a bit you ready yourself to leap in any direction to dodge whatever she's about to do, when suddenly you feel a stinging pain in your guts. Looking down, you see a few inches of steel protruding from your gut, wreathed in the crimson glow of a Darkwraith.

“It's done.” the assassin behind you says, planting a foot on your back and jerking the weapon free with a tearing motion that opens the wound in your back wider. You drop limply to the ground as your body simply refuses to respond, flopping face-down to the forest floor as you feel your strength leaving your body.
“Excellent work. Hold her down, while I take back what's mine.” the woman says, her voice sounding far away for some reason. You feel the assassin's boot stomp down on your left forearm, and looking over realize what's about to happen as she steps up, sword held overhead. She's going to take your hand!! And the Dark Hand, but that's a much lesser concern. The sudden panic of realizing that you're about to be disarmed galvanizes you, and focusing your mind quickly murmur the words to the powerful miracle Wrath of the Gods. You speak the old words quickly, making feeble attempts to lift yourself off the ground but that injury messed with your body badly. “This is for stealing what's-!”

“HRRAAAA!!” you roar as you finish the words to the miracle, and with a twitch of your tail jangle the bell it's holding to you like a belt. The woman and assassin both realize what's about to happen, but just as with you earlier they're far too slow to stop it. A wave of unstoppable force blasts out from you, centered on your chime, and blasts the assassin off your back and sends him flying. However, the Darkwraith woman cuts through the shock wave with her black flame-clad blade, and remains standing. It didn't work!?
“Hmph. Nice try, you slave.” she retorts, again raising the weapon overhead to take your arm off. “But you're not getting awaaay!!”
“TRIUMPH!” you call out, summoning your Stand to protect you from her sword's Abyssal flames.
“KIIIIIIIIIIII!” Triumph caws, immediately shielding you beneath it's golden wings as the woman swings.

Golden sparks and black flames fly as her blade strikes your Stand's wing, and to your surprise actually feel that attack in your own shoulder. But you don't let it distract you, quickly reciting the words to one of the restorative miracles to heal your grievous injury. As you finish speaking again you ring your chime, the familiar warmth of the golden magic flows into your body, fixing the injury in seconds.

“That's better.” you say, and now fully-healed rise back up to your feet to face the furious woman, this time with Triumph hovering close behind you to protect against that assassin doing it again. She looks equal parts furious and afraid, taking a step back and holding her sword up between the two of you almost like a shield.
“N-No way. That's impossible!” she says, voice sounding on the verge of tears. “All these years I spent planning, and gathering these tools, for THIS?!”
“You can't win.” you reply, again taking your ready stance with the golden spear. This time you focus on it, and begin charging the blade with electricity. She takes an unsteady step back, and then another.
“No, not like this. This, this ISN'T how this ends!” she roars, again gathering Abyssal flames in her left hand and raising it overhead. “I REFUSE!”

She then swings her left fist down, striking the ground, and it immediately begins rumbling beneath your feet. Then pillars of Abyssal fire begin sprouting up out of the ground, you leaping back and taking to the air to avoid the dark firestorm. Pillars of dark fire explode up out of the ground, one after another for several seconds before the attack ends, the woman remaining on her knees on the ground. Perhaps that attack took everything she had left? Either way you refuse to get close again, instead focusing on your spear and once more summoning it's dragon-slaying lighting along the blade.

You don't say anything, and thrusting your weapon down at her fire that dragon-slaying burst of lighting. She doesn't move or even react, your lightning lance slamming down directly into her back and piercing through the woman. She groans in pain as the sparks arc throughout her body, causing her to spasm for a second, but then it's over and she begins dissolving into white mist as her ki vanishes. Now, where'd that assassin go? You look around but can't see or sense him, then feel the familiar tug of your Darkmoon Pendant drawing you home. You may have 'won', but as everything goes dark this doesn't feel much like a victory. And as you return back home, you look down at your left hand where that dark energy resides, watching it swirl and writhe idly, and a dark thought springs up in your mind: could you have SAVED her? Or did you just let her die too, just like...
