/qst/ - Quests

Summary: You are Arpanet, the goddess of the internet. One day you were invited to compete in the goddess tournament, only to discover that the king gods of each pantheon were planning to test your will since you were a naturally born version of pandora’s box. After escaping the gods you traveled the world, unsure of what would come next. You are now in the realm of the Japanese pantheon. You learned that to have your arm healed you need to seek your closest kin, the Olympians.

The sakura petals scattered, carried by the warm wind. Despite the comfy atmosphere uneasiness stirred within you.

“Wander the forests where the deers are, the more rural it is the better chance you will find Artemis. But I’m afraid she is too elusive to find so easily. It may take days until she even rests between her hunts”

“Then what should I do? There are so many forests on earth too!”

Inari set her cup down so mechanically, turning the cup then placing her hands on her lap while she was in a seiza sitting position.

“I’m afraid I can’t give you any answers that will work,” Inari said regretfully.

“Going to every forest and wandering for how long sounds like it’s not worth it.” You grumble, sipping the sake cup. “How do I know Artemis is even someone I can trust.”

“I assure you, Artemis is a woman of noble heart,” Inari said, she lightly frowned. “You may not see them as family, and it is understandable why you would see it as such. But they are the closest you will have as kins.”
“Kins that almost had me killed.”

You couldn’t help but feel that you didn’t emphasize that part enough, or maybe the standard taboo of the humans were just not the same as the gods...

“But kins nonetheless.” Inari said. “One cannot walk a path alone. You will need guidance, protection.”

“I’m still not joining your pantheon not after that Susan bitch.”

The small tea session goes on and you see the servants glancing at one another in a mild panic. You sip on the sake cup and cut the yokan and eat it. Inari sighed, one of the foxed jumped to her lap and snuggled in.

“He does not represent us, I hope you are aware of that.” Inari said.

“But all of you are fine with watching it.” You said with a scoff. “Wouldn’t you do the same if it was one of your servants?”

“It is not simple as that.” Inari said sternly. “Susanoo-sama is a powerful god, I am only among the elite because of my relevance with humanity. You are a guest here, Arpanet-san. Tread lightly now.”

The tea session ended soon after that. You were led to another room where they dressed you in a simpler kimono, house rule and all that. With Amaterasu, you followed her to-

>a wide room with array of weapons
I wonder, we can create anything human made, can we replicate god weapons?
(I think the trick is like enchantment or something, but a magic rifle would be overkill maybe)

Also, good to have you back OP.

>a wide room with array of weapons
Good idea to learn some things so that we could better alter and improve our own arsenal, maybe practice in our room with the monitors and experiment with concepts and designs
Still wondering if we can just find our arm again, no need to have one regened when we can do some surgery and reattach it potentially
I mean we have humanity's medical knowledge bo reason to have someone else do the surgery

A wide array of weapons adorned the walls. Form the simple katana to scythes to a fuck off huge studded bats. Amaterasu’s robe disappeared in the flames that surrounded her, replaced by an armor. It was like being in a movie prop room, Amaterasu picked up a nearby katana, examining the blade.

“You will learn discipline through sparring,”

One of the servants handed you a katana with a red sheath and black handle. You drew the sword and shove the sheat between the kimono and the sash. Amaterasu looked at you as if you have committed a cultural crime. Amaterasu sighed, then took the katana from your hand and sheathed it.

“Perhaps the katana is too much for you for now.”

She instead gave you a wooden version of it, along with taking 99% of your enthusiasm.

“But… my rule of nature.” You muttered.

“Rule of what?”

“Nevermind. So you’re just going to teach me how to hold a katana?”

“Yes, now, keep your back straight, yes like that.”

Little did you know, this would take the whole day and you didn’t get to learn to even swing the sword.

“Now that your posture is acceptable, you will learn how to swing tomorrow after calligraphy lesson.” Amaterasu said. “You have done well. The servants will come with a meal, my servants will guide you to the bath.”

You were brought to the bathing area, you wrapped yourself with a towel and soaked shoulder deep into the hot water in the open air.

The hot water soaking your body was a bliss, sweat was shed and you could not help but sigh. The Japanese pantheon at least knew how good a hot bath is. You stretch your arms- arm… and rest in the water. Admist the silence, save for the running water, the memory of the tournament crept up. Hel’s cruel attack was shocking to be sure. But it was Bastet’s cold cruelty that made her shiver.
You dump your head in the water, trying your best to forget it. When you pulled your head out you hear whispers, fear etched into their voices and… arguing.

“I’m not going you go! She was the one that saved you!”

“You’re the senior here!”

“One of you just go!”

You continued to wait until all three approached you.

“Pardon us for bothering your rest, Arpanet-sama. But we wanted to give this to you.”

They laid a basket of simple fruits and vegetables. Sliced daikons, raw sweet potatoes, apples, peaches, strawberries. It was a humble yet thankful gift basket. The servants went on their knees, gazing with you with desperate pleading eyes.

“We have a request- no, a plea, Arpanet-sama.” The servant whispered.

“I can’t make any promises, but what is it?”

“Us servants… we are tired of being treated like some animals! You saw what happened with Susanoo, if it were not for your intervention poor Aya would have died.”

“What do you want me to do, I can’t fight a pantheon.”

“No, but you can protect us when we all make our demand. Please Arpanet-sama. You are our only hope!”

Helping them would certainly make an enemy… but you couldn’t just let them be treated like garbage. What do you do?

Let's try to not be too hostile, we're primarily trying to help them get treated better here. Our power is also not very good if we need to actually protect people or fight, we can't exactly flood the entire room with lethal agents if the servants are still there so we'll only have our wind blades to rely on...whose strength leave a bit to be desired apparently. Still, be ready to turn into our gas form at any moment or better yet, do it before hand. Those people are stronger and faster than us so being harder to it will be an advantage we need. Don't count on us being untouchable however.

>Write-in: Introduce them to the mortal concept of Unionization. Whatever punishments Susanoo might want to level in the short term, and you will protect them from it, surely the pantheon has little or not interest in handling all the drudgery and mundanity of housekeeping themselves. It simply requires unanimous intent and action on the part of the servants. If they can form a proper Union, complete with charter, you will defend them, and ensure their voices are heard.

Fuck it. You couldn’t help but feel sorry for those servants, being pushed around like and being treated like shit. In a way, they were like you.

“Fine. But I need to know what’s going down.”

The three servants cheered, bouncing up and down as they hollered.

“Thank you! Oh thank you Arpanet-sama!”

“My name is Ichi!”

The first had bobbed hair, fair skin and black eyes. She appeared human, no real characteristic to speak of.

“I’m Nimi!”

The second one had a hair bun with one eye covered by hair bang, she had an uneven horn protruding from each side of her head.

“And I’m Set!”

The final one was a cyclops, with short bangs and rough hair, the most energetic one.

“We will contact you when we can.” Ichi said.

You woke from your peaceful sleep, desptie the rising sun you snuggled inside your bed like a mole rat. The warm light, the right amount of darkness, and the blanket made for a simply divine awakening. You dug into the blankets, until the sliding door slammed open. Your salvation, the blanket, was ripped away from you. Now that sunlight, reigning against you without the blanket it became a crime against divitniy.

“A goddess does not sleep in lazily.”

It was Amaterasu, dressed in a light white and red robe. The servants circled you and pounced. A changing screen was set and the servants quickly dressed you in another kimono and wash your face with a wet towel. It was like being in an assembly line.

One servant combed your hair while the other brought your meal, scooping the rice with the side dish on top. You push the servants off gently with an aggravated frown.

“I can feed myself.” You said.

The servants scurried off, though the servants that was combing your hair which you also gently pushed her away.

Your feet were already getting jittery, the way Inari sat was not easy as you thought. With a shamisen in your hands you watched Amaterasu play it so effortlessly. She motioned you to try it now. The fingers moved to the strings but the sound of the strum did not come out.

“Not like that.” Amaterasu said sternly.

She knelt beside you and placed the fingers into the right place.

“Now try it.”

You strum the shamisen, a small but victorious smile spread on your lips. Amaterasu nodded with an approving smile. What you didn’t expect was her hand stroking your head, like some mother-daughter play time.

“There. See how posture makes everything beautiful?”

“Mm hmm…”

You resisted the urge to roll your eyes to the back of your skull. For about an hour or so you continued the long lesson. Eventually you did get the strum right, even learn how to play some songs. All in all, it could have been worse. You walk along side Amaterasu with a procession behind. Even a simple walk in the garden was an event with her around.

“To be a divinity, a goddess, is to be above expectations. Above in beauty, elegance, grace, femininity, and strength. I suppose for us it is, not so much for the other pantheons.” Amaterasu said. “In strength, is where we make a difference. For the goddesses of our pantheon must learn to place elegance and grace in our strength.”

You eventually end up in the dojo, now dressed in a dark blue robe with a white sash at the waist, it was much easier to move in. You catch the wooden sword, and go into the same position.

“Back straight, shoulders back, and strike.”

The same movement, over and over. It was so agonizingly boring. An hour and a break, then another hour later Amaterasu dismissed you.

“That is all for today. You did well.”

Once you cleaned yourself up, the day was soon turning into an evening. You found a note by your futon, it spoke of a meeting place which was the basement of the palace through the servant’s quarter.

When the sun began to dip you make for the servant’s quarter.

You walk down the hall and you hear the busy sounds of the palace. The servants scurried the halls, the gods stomped to wherever they were going. Out of all gods you ran into Inari in the halls.

“Oh hey Inari.”

“Arpanet-san, I didn’t expect you to be around this late.” Inari said. “What brings you at this late hour?”

“Just taking a walk?”

“Without any attendants?”

“I don’t need one.” You said with your arms crossed. “That’s not really my style.”

Some servants walked by, bowing their heads.

“You are a goddess, some kind of servants should accompany you.” Inari said reluctantly. “However, it is not much in my place to judge another goddess that is not part of my pantheon. You said you were taking a walk?”

“Something like that.” You said with a shrug. “I gotta go, I’ll see you later.”

You quickly walk off after that. When there was no gods around, you change into the clothes of a servant, after that no gods even looked at you twice or not at all.

The servants quarter was cramped and damp, not to mention cold thanks to being a basement. As you went through the halls, you got a peek in the servant’s “room.” A cramped room for two, no tables, some candles, and an old cabinet for clothes and blankets. It was as if you were in a slum rather than the basement of a grand palace. At the end of the servant’s quarter you saw a familiar face.

“Ah! Arpanet-sama!”

“Hey Ichi.”

“You’re here!” Ichi said joyly. “No wonder no one told me you’ve come to the servant’s quarter.”

“By the way, I think you told me basement was through the servant’s quarter when the servant’s quarter is the basement…”

“Oh… did I? I’m sorry for the confusion Arpanet-sama. I can guide you to the basement, that’s where the exit is for us.” Ichi said.

You pass through some of the other places in the servant’s quarter. A small bath house, resting area, and the dining hall, all need of a complete renovation. Cracked beams, old wooden tables, moldy spots… it’s like where crackheads would consider luxurious.

“This place isn’t much, but for some of us is home.” Ichi said sadly.

“Exactly where are we going?”
>>
>>5215051
“The lower realm of the gods, where we, the youkais, spirits and alike reside in.”

The lower realm, it was basically a slum, except creatures of mythology flew and scurried around. If the realm of the gods were clean, quiet, and elegant, the slums were loud, boisterous, (frankly more entertaining), and freeer. Though cleanliness wasn’t high on their priority list. Stall owners advertised, many haggled, and some were drunken out of their minds.

“It’s quite festive here.”

“With no gods we can act however we like.” Ichi said. “But that means there can be youkais who isn’t so friendly.”

“So if there’s a lower realm and high realm, is there a middle one?”

Ichi nodded.

“Something like that, humans who have achieved something great or a higher being of a youkais and spirit live there. Most serve the gods, but not all are terrible.” Ichi said. “We’re here!”

You found yourself to a large mansion, hobbled up by improvised fixes and ropes that held the building together. Inside was… surprisingly comforting. Warm candles emitted a soft glow of organe hue, food abound, and plenty of hammocks strapped on the ceiling. The furnitures also had a touch of their own fixes. Most of all, they were smiling amongst one another.

“Us servants take turns between living here and the palace quarters. We can’t house everyone after all so this is what we could agree on.” Ichi said.

“Better than the palace. No one has a stick up their ass.”

Ichi giggled.

“I’m glad you think so. We can discuss the details later. How about some meal, or a bath perhaps? Then again, it might be best if we announce you properly first, though I'm guessing you're not the kind of goddess that likes that.”

The meal was simple. Rice and some side dishes. Seeing that none of the servants realized who you were you decided to pretend to be one of them for now. A part of you couldn’t help but wonder how they could not notice your divinity when some gods had to go through a transformation to be unnoticed. Well, it made you life easier at least.

You shoved a spoonful of rice and a vegetable side dish. Unlike the palace, there was so much noise that it felt more like a party than a regular dinner. The voices of the background was full of laughter, some arguing and others simply talking about their work in the palace. It was loud, but this was much preferable than some gods who looked a you from a pedestal they made themselves.

“You mean it’s like this every time?”.

Ichi nodded as Nimi and Set fought over the side dish.

“I apologize if this isn’t something you’re used to.” Ichi said.

“No, I think this is better than some quiet and ‘elegant’ gathering.” You said.

Ichi, Nimi, and Set leaned close, all spoke in unison.

“What’s it like to be with gods and goddesses?”

“They’re assholes, most of them at least.” You said as you chewed. “Don’t you hang around them?”

“We do… we were hoping other gods are kinder, like Inari-sama.”

“There are, but not that many of them. So about this plan, how are you going to do it?”

“Us and the senior members will simply not attend, they will come to us. They will have to come to us. Then we will make our demand.” Ichi said.

“No more treating us like trash!” Nimi said.

“And no more dead servants…” Set said.

You choked, then quickly shoved water down your throat.

“What?”

“Some servants get killed because the gods need to vent their anger. Sometimes… it’s us, knowingly or unknowingly.” Set said. “I was there when Shi was killed because Amaerasu-sama’s flames burst when she got angry with her brother.”

Set shivered, eyes staring at the table and refusing to look up. Nimi stroked her head to calm her.

“Or when Susanoo and Fujin was sparring in the outside the palace… the falling debris killed at least twenty of us.” Ichi’s grip on her bowl tightened.

Your appetite was gone, replaced with utter disgust.

Yeah this seems like they'll probably just get angry and smite happy and while we might be able to help against one or two gods there's no way we can take on a pantheon alone
>>

I just had a thought for an alternate plan: If the servants know somwhere(s) they could hide from the gods then we could help evacuate all but a representative or two as we could probably spirit away one ot two people if things get violent

Combine these two together, worst comes to shove we've got a sanctuary we can send them to.

Additionally, it would be better if they could compose a list of incidences, as well as as many signatures as possible. If it becomes apparent that all, or nearly all, of their servants harbor such feelings enough to actually make demands of the pantheon, the more self-righteous among them might think twice before reflexively 'crushing' this whole shindig.

Actually, sorry for doubleposting but I had a thought.

Could we make a forum specifically for Servant use and provide a discreet means for the servants to access it? One where they could voice their opinions and keep eachother updated without fear of any Gods or Goddesses learning what they're saying?

I mean, could just establish a ritual? We bless the first, say, 10 to be moderators of the forum, then give them a ritual that would "bless" the others in question with access.

We're the god of Networks, among other things. Building a magical one that can only be used and detected by those we approve of can't be THAT hard.
>>
>>5219536
You know, that would actually be a good idea. The thing is that we don't really know any magics or even how to bless things. Hell we barely know anything about our own divinity in general.
>>
>>5219553
It all comes down to Permissions and Ports, don't it?

Making a visual screen that can reference a text-based section of the internet we've divvied off, as well as a simple interface for interacting with the database based on modern keyboard designs, should be something we can just, ya know, DO. The ritual of access might be a bit trickier, but those usually revolve around a 'sacred' artifact anyways. We can give a stamp that'll mark people in a way that lets them ping and query the forum, and wi-fi won't be an issue because it'll operate off of M A G I C.
>>
>>5218405
So along with this vote, just give me the explanation of how that's gonna be done for the ritual then I'll get writing. If you want to chalk it up to magic or Arpanet's ultra wifi ability I'll make that happen kek
>>
>>5219579
>>5219600
Well... we can either build it ourselves using modern technology or we can learn how to use our divinity. If we're going with the latter we can just make it telepathic. We're in the near future after all, neuralink should be a thing, so going from "holographic screen" to "basically mind internet" shouldn't be much of a stretch, and it's way more efficient than spending your time typing away. If we need an artifact let's just use the stamp like >>5219579 suggested or a smooth metal sphere for that sci-fi aesthetic.
>>
>>5219612
I'm worried about Mind Internet being TOO easy to use. I don't want people's errant thoughts ending up on the forum, and going full telepathy makes it a vulnerability for everyone involved. The holographic screen is meant to serve as a buffer, in that people can always just turn the forum off if they don't want to participate.

As for the ritual itself, it'd be pretty simple. One would have to create a handle, have it approved by two or more moderators, then interact with the artifact while reciting the Oath of Fair Conduct (no harassing individuals, no attempting to interact with the forum in a manner beyond what it was meant for, no revealing the forum to the Gods in any deliberate way, etc.)

The only things that would really need a vote are determining the ten moderators, the nature of the Artifact (stamp still seems like the easiest to use, imo) and the exact wording of the Oath. The Oath would also amount to terms of service, and should really only regard people's conduct on the forum itself.

Civil conduct would be regulated by the mods themselves, who would be instructed in the finer intricacies in the forum's use, and the board-to-board rules would be set by the moderators. We'd only get involved and revoke people's access to the forum if they break the Oath of Usage.

>>5219643
Alright to prevent it from making it unnecessarily complex, I'll just give Arpanet the ability to be a walking source of wifi and the ability to make item that connects to her like a phone. Sounds simple enough anons?
>>
>>5219643
I'd still go with a Mind Internet, especially if somebody needs to communicate in a position where they can't just whip out a holographic screen in front of them. If you're worried about errant thoughts you can just add a mental "interface" or some sort of mnemonic so that you don't accidentally upload something you didn't want there.

As for the vulnerability, what's really gonna happen here? You think somebody will hack it? Because I doubt they even remotely have the technical know-how to do that, and we're also the one who created this thing so we should have more than enough authority and power to deal with any potential issue with it. Or you know, we could give our moderators that power too, maintaining it in our absence is gonna be their job after all. Worst comes to shove we can design a neural firewall in case of metaphysical bullshit traveling through it, though if it gets to that point we'll probably have to pay attention to it, telepathy or not.
>>
>>5219651
Or we could just do that.
>>
>>5219651
Sounds good, now the question is if the glowies will figure out how to access it, they already got that bureau of occult affairs so they might learn of it, still want to go and mess with the glowies eventually for fun.
>>
>>5219651
>>5220138
Only issue I see with that is that it kind of defeats >>5219169's idea, which is a private forum that can only be accessed with a ritual on the servants' part. Anybody can just use a phone.

Well the way I see it, range probably wouldn't be an issue because of magic. But it does need to be connected to *something* right? Well that something would just be us, we'd essentially function as a server for their little section of the Internet because we're, well, the Internet.

I'll go with >>5219643, but if this is complex I'll settle for >>5219651.

“Look I’m going to be honest with you, this is going to be an uphill battle.”

“Of course… I understand.”

You nodded. You put the bowl on the tray where some servants were taking back. As the meal ended you and the three sisters head for a private room. You lie on the floor on the soft but old futon. Another servant arrived with a cup of tea and moderate snacks. The plan was made that few representative of the servants would be with you during their demands.

“Surely you can at least hold them back.”

“Listen, if we’re going to go against jackasses like that, we need more people to protect you all. I don’t thnk I can do much by myself. Even if you’re all hidden, there’s no guarantee that you will be protected.” You sighed. “If you really want… I can find you a new gods to work with?”

Ichi, Nimi, and Set all looked at one another.

“Well…” Ichi said.

“Not all of us maybe.” Nimi shrugged. “You’d have to ask the other servants.”

“And incase a fight breaks out, I need all of you to run away from me far as you can. The gods don’t understand how my powers work and so do I. If they’re that reckless I don’t want any of you to be around. I don’t even know how my power works fully, got it?”

They all nodded. You bring up the idea of a “phone” and gave Ichi, Nimi, and Set, along with some other senior members of the servants. For now, this would serve as a trial.

“When do you plan to do it?”

“Tomorrow, night. The servants living in the quarter will leave after their work is over, and the servants on night shift will find a place to hide on their own.” Nimi said.

“What about servants around the gods?”

“They’ll know how to get out.” Set aid.

It was then you noticed the servants gathering around the door, all in awe now that your disguise was gone. They all silently stared at you. Some with curiosity, some with uncertainty, and some with fear. Then the door was slammed wide open and the servants flood in. All manners of questions were fired, from the simplest of questions.

“Are you really going to help us Arpanet-sama?”

“Can you really fight the gods?”

Then to inquiries that even you didn’t know. The younger servants tugged at your sleeves, beckoning you to play with them.

“Alright girls that’s enough!” Ichi said. “Arpanet-sama is our guest be more polite to her!”

Ichi’s reprimand fell deaf to the servants, who were too excited to have be in your presence. It was a night of long questioning. Your origins, home, and most definitely, your time in the “tournament.” But what they really was curious was your abilities.

“Come on Arpanet-sama can we see some of your powers?”

“I don’t really think that’s safe…”

“Pleeeeeeeease?”

Among many ideas you had, the best idea was showing cat videos. After all, they were your first few memories before you came into existence. You open up a window, and show the cats doing cat things. Being scared by a cucumber and water bottles, keyboard cat, and the grumpy cat. Before you knew it they were all over it.

“Look at the cats!”

“They’re so cute!”

“Can we see another one?”

“Sure.”

You play the next video and after that. The girls push one another to get a better view, almost descending into chaos until Ichi brought everyone out into the living area. You and Ichi were on the side, happily watching the younger servants’ eyes glow as they continued to watch.

“They’re all good kids, aren’t they?” Ichi said.

“They are.”

“Tomorrow they’ll wake up early in the morning before the gods will, and work knowing that they could be killed at any time because of the gods’ recklessness and disregard of their lives.” Ichi’s hand tightly balled into a fist. “They’ll know of our anger tomorrow.”

An hour later, the servants were told to return to their rooms and sleep. Tomorrow would arrive, but not before you saw Pandora, you looked around into a white nothingness save for you and Pandora.

“You!” Pandora said. “What do you think you’re doing!”

“I’m doing what’s right. What do you want me to do, ignore them?”

“Yes!” Pandora said. “You can’t just expect things to change. This is going to end with people being dead. Are you really ready for that? Are you? You can’t protect everyone and all it’s going to do is bring you despair!”

Your jaws clenched, you had no answer for that. Pandora sighed.

“I get that you want to help. I do. But this isn’t going to end well for everyone. It’s just how it is. The servants don’t know what they’re getting into, you have to stop them during the negotiation so they don’t get ahead of themselves.”

“Then nothing is going to be changed.”

“They’ll have their voices heard, and Amaterasu is a reasonable goddess. Sure their lives won’t get better tremendously, but it’s better than being massacre for their impudence.”

You live with Dean Yarrick, so you’d have to wait until his shift was or you get picked up by his secretary. You wait by the gate as you watched the other students enter a fancy car or aerial vehicle. Lucky bastards, children of all ages too. You knew your anger should not be aimed at what they were born with.

“Max~!”

You saw your siblings, Aldous and Catherine running toward you with their pristine uniforms. You run toward them and squat down, they basically tackle you into a hug. They were fraternal twins and looked pretty similar. But they were in synch as if they were twin psykers.

“Hey you two!”

They giggled in your arms. It was hard to believe they were such bright children compared to years ago. You held both of their hands with your backpack slung on your shoulders. While the norm was you’d be given a ride, you thought taking a walk to see the upper scale area would be fun for your siblings. And it was. Their eyes darted everywhere, pointing and cheering on everything they saw.

“Max look at that lady’s funny hair!”

“Woah look at that servitor’s fancy hat!”
“Aldous! Catherine! Stop saying that!” You chided them quickly.

Though it didn’t really stop their enthusiasm.

>Without much of an incident you returned to Dean Yarrick’s mansion.
>You heard a loud roar of an engine, it was an assault bike, but smaller and without weapons. You lift your siblings in your arms and get to the furthest side of the sidewalk just in case. What was strange was the bike stopped, toward where you were.

>A considerable crowd followed a tall girl, like Roberta, even had the same blond hair save it was longer than Roberta’s. You met her eyes and she begin to approach you with graceful steps.

“They have the right to speak their minds.” You growled out.

“I’m not saying they don’t, but they’ll get killed!” Pandora said.

“They’re not monsters Pandora!”

Pandora grabbed by your collar.

“I’m doing this for you!” Pandora screamed. “Don’t you remember how I died? If you fail, which you will, it’s going to make it harder for you to contain it.”

“I can handle it.”

“No, you can’t. You’re being a child.” Pandora said annoyedly.

“Go fuck yourself Pandora.”

You woke up, the big day was here. The current plan was to have the servants stop working at the change of the night shift, since most gods go on to drink or ask for more food in their own small parties. When night arrived, you, the three sisters, and other senior members stood outside the little home. The current locations of servants were plenty scattered.

“They’re here…”

You see a procession of the gods, all equally pissed off. However, you couldn’t find Inari in the crowds. Save for Ichi, the rest slightly stepped back to be behind you. The very grand procession made all youkais and spirits flee. The procession ended, they were standing in thin air above you. Amaterasu looked down, her glare already intimidated Ichi and her sisters.

“So… what is this you’re planning?”

Ichi bit her lips, gripped on your sleeve tight.

“U-Us servants are demanding better treatment!” Ichi said.

“You and the others walk in the great hall of the palace. What ‘better treatment’ are there?” Amaterasu said.

“The recklessness of gods killed many servants that’s what!” Set said. “Last time one of the god’s hound ripped… ripped… poor Setsuna because the hounds got out of that flimsy gate during feeding!”

Nimi wrapped her arm around Set’s trembling shoulders.

“We are fed rice gruels and work everyday without proper rest.” Ichi said. “The servants will from here on stop working until the gods meet our demands!”

>There was silence. Even for Susanoo. “Very well, then we will also discuss how to go forward with your impudent demands.”

Susanoo shoved Amaterasu aside and jumped down from the procession. In his hand was a giant iron club, studded with spikes. Amaterasu, seemingly offended by the shove did not do anything, she merely rolled her eyes.

“Demands you say? Maybe after you’re all beaten thoroughly LET’S SEE IF YOU HAVE MORE DEMANDS!”

Susanoo went for an overhand chop as he descended. Your body became light, enveloped by the wind. The first thing you did was shove Ichi and her sisters and others out of the way in a quick gust of wind. It wasn’t a gentle ladning but they seemed fine. The club simply went through your body, it was like you were playing a vr and the weapon clipped on you instead of damaging you.

“Where is she?” Susanoo growled out.

Susanoo’s hair swished as he looked around with his fangs gritting and lips pursed up. You hid behind him. His lips spread into a frightening grin, then looked behind you.

“That’s quite the trick. Since you can’t be hit, then they’ll suffer my wrath.”

You could turn into a nerve gas, but you weren’t sure if it could spread around the others. Fighting him weapon to weapon was impossible as well. He was a god of war, and you were just… you. No matter what you originally were. You were purely outclassed.

Do a huge blast of air as a warning so that the servants start running, that way we'll be able to actually use something like VX nerve gas without killing everybody. Try to launch blades out of it if we can. Aim for weak spots such as joints, motor nerves and eyes. Maybe the throat if it comes to that. Watch Susanoo extremely carefully, we all remember how ridiculously fast Hel could move so let's not get surprised again, hopefully.

One thing was clear, you needed him away from the servant’s home. Your guns might as well be pellets, and they were .75 explosive bullets. It only annoyed him, a tickle from how he was laughing. The ground trembled, with each missed hit. The building surrounding you crumbled. The denizen screamed, some merely let out a gurgle as the debris crushed their innards.

Bodies were strewn in the debris. Some… were just reddish-pink paste, blown into obliteration by Susanoo’s wild strike. It was pure horror, a war scene, something you’ve seen countless times on wikipedia or movies. It never said anything about the smell and the sounds, their cries… it was slithering inside your ears. You had to get away, somewhere in an open field so no one else would be-

Susanoo struck a building, then stomped on it several times into dust.

“Do these suffering frighten you, girl?” Susanoo laughed. “You are far out of your reach.”

He saw a family of kappa running away. He grinned again, he raised his club, but you were just fast enough with your wind form to push them out of the way.

“You’re fast.”

“For you. Come on you pint sized faggot. Why don’t you fight someone that can fight back?”

“Oh, you were fighting, is this what we were doing?” Susanoo said. “Do you truly think I wasn’t aware of you distracting me so the servants can escape?”

It was too late, Susanoo’s thrown club couldn’t be stopped. You tried to redirect it with the strongest gust of wind you could conjure but it didn’t work either, then in a split second decision you returned to your physical form.

White searing pain sunk its fangs. A burning sensation as the studded spikes ripped into your skin. You saw darkness for mere seconds, until you woke up again, in a field of sharpnels and splintered wood. You saw a hand sticking out, in the last shreds of energ you got you crawled to the servant and pulled on the hand…

Only to pull out the hand itself.

Kind of walked into that one. This piece of shit is evil but we're trying to protect people right now, and we don't have what it takes to fight against one of the top gods of the pantheon like this. We're also out of energy, so there's not much else we can do. If we're gonna be fighting for people like this in the future we need to actually be able to fight in the first place, we'll take care of care of whatever effects it has on us later since we're not taking all of it in.

To be fair, I'm not sure there's really much we can do here, Susanoo is literally one of the top three, and he seems pretty hellbent on killing everyone here. The other gods also haven't interfered, so I wouldn't count on their help too much.

True but we should be able to find out some way out of this without the door, from the way Pandora first described it it sounded like a permanent thing to even open it a little, we should be able to just turn into like mustard gas or some shit and fuck over Susanoo like we did in our fight against Zeus and the other Gods.
>>
>>5234058
>from the way Pandora first described it it sounded like a permanent thing to even open it a little

I thought that too until I looked at the last /qtg/ and saw QM posting about how it was just an option to rage out. Shape of Wrath mentions that we're not taking enough to take hold of us before closing the gate, it also seeps out when we're very emotive(like when we beat the shit out of Zeus) so the gate doesn't even stop it entirely. Honestly I think QM might've overdid it a bit and it's actually more of a very volatile power than some super evil mega corruption thing, which is why I'm still voting for it because if we were actually going to turn out evil I wouldn't bother. I think we'll at least have a chance of controlling it afterwards unless QM is a massive asshole(Remember that we also have a very special friend who is shunned by his pantheon and basically chained because they're scared of him, I'm sure he has no love for the gods and would help us).

>we should be able to just turn into like mustard gas or some shit and fuck over Susanoo like we did in our fight against Zeus and the other Gods

I thought that was kind of implied by the "attack him with everything you got" option. Given that Susanoo is one of the big three of the Japanese pantheon, and that he's supremely ignored whatever we threw at him in favor of killing servants, I'd say having a way to fight him more directly would be beneficial.

[bold]New Ability: Shape Of Malice:[/bold] You waited long enough, and you did your best to hold it back. But humanity is nothing without malice and it goes same for the gods, so why reject your nature? With this ability, the shapeless malice is yours to control. Armor, weapon, even as a wing, your imagination is its limit, it is yours to control. After all, patience has its rewards. But be warned, it isn't a god killer ability and you are not invincible.

Advice: Best way to use the ability is to focus it into a form. Using it as a gun or ranged weapon will only have weak results as Malice is spread out thin. Think of it as a putty, if you pull some off to make more stuff there won't be much mass in it.

You could taste the dirt in your mouth. The ash and the metallic flavor of blood. Above, you saw Amaterasu watching, along with Inari and the rest of the pantheon. You grab the nearest debris to stand.

“You know… I thought you were different.” You coughed out blood, and it trailed down your chin to your throat. “But you’re just the same, all this bulshit about a goddess, don’t fuck with me.”

Amaterasu did not answer, merely gestured toward Susanoo, and with glee he began to stomp toward you. With each step, you saw the door beckoning you. You saw Pandora, screaming, but it was all but silent, you saw her lips move but you heard nothing. Just a little, a tiny crevice, then you’d close the door.

And you did.

The red amalgamous form squirmed, latching on to you as it squeezed out through the crevice of the door. Its warm slime slithered unto your skin, soft and malleable, and oozing with seeping malice. It wasn’t disgusting, not at all, it was… comforting, as if a piece of you returned to you, a missing piece of puzzle. Malice, it was something to fear, or that’s what Pandora told you. Yet, why did it feel so normal? Wasn’t malice the source of all evil? Why did it feel so… right?

It was euphoric.

You opened your eyes, and there was Susanoo, eyes wide. For the first time, you had the power. You granned the oncoming club and simply caught the blow.

“That’s a big club you got, compensating for your tiny dick?”

[Advice: Be fucked up as you want, but not enough to kill him/incapacitate him]

Shape it into the nanosuit, strength and armor mode, with whatever color scheme the Malice comes with. Maybe a super prosthetic too while we're at it.

Don't know how much we'll be able to actually do, but since we commented on his dick we might as well go for that. Also, rip his liver straight from his body and crush it, should be Japanese enough. Turn whatever bones we can to fucking dust with brute force(especially the spine) and obliterate his entire dentition. Give him some nice ,traumatic concussions while we're at it and turn his eyes(at least one) into goddamn pulp.

All of that? Do it gradually, taunt him and keep at it the more scared he gets. If he tries to defend himself, we punch him down immediately, just like he's punched down on all those servants for god knows how long. Make him feel like a little bitch.

Also, nice art QM, reminds me of prototype

The Gods took our arm, let's return the favor on at least one of them, and let's also make him a eunuch for how much of an ass he's been to the servants.

“DIE!”

Susanoo went for another strike, in which you simply side stepped it away. In a matter of second, the shadow passed through his arm, then, in the silence, his arm fell. Susanoo simply stared at his arm, then a bloody scream echoed in the silent rubbles upon realization. You simply stood there watching in glee. This was power. Your new left arm picked up the dismembered limb, then played it like a puppet, you made it a middle finger.

“Aww what’s wrong? Scared that someone is finally at your- no, beyond your level?”

You saw Susanoo looking up, and wheen you followed his eyes you noticed the Japanese pantheon watching indifferently, none were willing to fight for him. The fear in his face, the power, the absolute control, it was pure dopamine rush.

“Ar-Arpanet-sama… is that truly you?”

“Oh Ichi, you’re alive.” You said indifferently. “Get out my way.”

“But what about helping us?”

“I'm working on it aren't I?"

“Are you going to… kill him?”

You shrugged, then thought about for a few seconds.

“Meh.”

Susanoo was still on the ground, writhing. His eyes was lit ablaze with pure rage. What a retard, now he’s trying to hit you with his only arm.

“YOU’RE GOING TO SUFFER FOR THIS!”

“Sure buddy.”
>>
You’re nice, so you used your shadow to cut off his fingers. You jumped out of the way to let him fall. He was writhing like a worm. Heh.

“You whore! Olympian bitch!”

“Now that’s not so nice is it?”

For a giant, he screamed like a bitch. With your new limb holding him down, you walked over to where his crotch was then take a few steps back.

“Hey, how many servants did you kill?”

“DIE IN A DITCH YOU OLYMPIAN WHOR-”

And now, with great surgical precision, he was a eunich. The scream he had this time was much more satisfying, especially since he was still being kept down.

If he kept screaming, his vocal cord would rip, so you gagged him quick. Instead of writhing like a worm, he was a flopping fish. You took a selfie, it’d make for a nice timeline background. You look around the destruction. The dead, the living, just about everything, you just couldn’t give a shit anymore. You form a heavy cleaver above Susanoo’s head.

“Enough!”

Amaterasu descended, with the most hateful scowl there was but you smelled the fear like a pungent odor. The malice surrounding you dissipated, sae for your new left arm.

“What’s your demand?” Amaterasu said.

“You can talk to Ichi.”

“And what’s yours?” Amaterasu asked.

“Mine?”

You grab Amaterasu by the neck with your left arm, squeezing it real tight.

“It’s real simple. Tell every gods to fuck off. You got that? I’m not interested in any pantheons, any bullshit. Go tell that to your circlejerk, got it?”

She nodded.

“Repeat it.” You commanded.

“You want to be left alone.”

“Now say my name.”

“Wh-what?”

“Say. My. Name.”

“Arpanet.” Amaterasu said sincerely. “You’re Arpanet, Goddess Of Internet.”

“You’re god damn right.”

Well then, guess nobody is gonna fuck with us anymore now. Surely nobody would be so stupid as to do that.

Good stuff QM, looking forward to seeing you again.

So, I was thinking... How does the gods divinity work? We sliced up Susanoo but it didn't kill him. I supose Even if we decapitate him he still survive? Does the arm that has been cut off rot away? Are they able to regrow limbs or just reattach the severed limb and heal it?
I'm just asking beacuse I want to keep Susanoo's nutsack and balls as a trophy...just to remind everyone what awaits them if they fuck with Arpanet, goddess of the internet.

If what I know about mythology is anything to go by, my guess would be that it depends on the pantheon. Shinto gods can 100% be killed if you're violent enough, while Sumerian gods have the tendency to come back to life on their own after a while iirc.

As for the healing part, Inari mentionned that each Pantheons had healing powers that they kept guarded away from each other, though obviously we don't kow if full-limb regen is possible.

Actually it was the Canaanites that could resurrect.

Looking forward to the next time we speak with Pandora, we did tell her we could handle it.

Liking the quest so far, but anyone feel like the gods were a bit too evil? I get that the gods are assholes but ai remember some of them admiring us at the beginning, and you'd think at least somebody would intervene with a massacre like this.

Eh, maybe a little, in the original myths Amaterasu is supposed to basically be the epitome of a good deity with absolutely zero malice. Susanoo meanwhile is a huge piece of shit that gets cast out of heaven but apparently redeems himself and is accepted back into heaven with his wife after he murders a huge god eating serpent and gifts Kusanagi to Amaterasu. Obviously we kind of need antagonists so this was probably bound to happen.

Personally I'm more confused about the fact that he hasn't even used electric powers or some shit considering he's a storm deity
