Summary for new people:
You are Anon, you got summoned into a fantasy world where the creatures in it are very sure you are a Demon.
After escaping a bunker filled with undead and dodging the inquisition, you ended in a city.
Further investigation revealed you are a demon by their standards and humanity was mass summoned 450 years ago as an army.
It ended with The Great War and the death of a god.

You have been getting confusing signals from Gaia (A goddess who is supposed to be asleep) and its annoying,
soon you realize everyone in power is a form of asshole.

Now you have enrolled into another expedition into the wasteland, aiming for the Demon capital, all in the name of… Profit? Answers? Not sure.
There is also a guy impersonating you and trying to cause a war, and magic is a broken system similar to programing.

(TLDR: You are playing as a McGuffin)

GAME OF DISTORSION (1/3 road events)

The wind carried the smells of the coming summer.
You followed the dirt path on horseback, the expedition had left the city earlier in that day.
As a member of the scouting team, it was your job was to make sure the road was safe.
It was a quiet job for the most part, barely doing anything other than advancing in silence.

You heard Ghal coming up to you, while eyeing the two people he didn’t know.
He leaned a bit closer to speak, fearful others could hear him.
“Master, should you not get further away? These men might see through your disguise.” He said whispering

You looked back that the other riders.

The lanky one was giving a blank stare to infinity, you were pretty sure he had fallen asleep with his eyes open.
The only reason it hadn’t gotten lost was because his horse was following the others.

The other was talking with Emilia, or more precisely, Emilia was weathering his rant on the best way to kill ferals.
He had an extremely long hair that had several leaves and sticks stuck in it.

“I don’t think that will be a problem.”
Ghal did not argue back, but tried to position himself between you and them as an extra measure.
“You could eat them and hide the bodies in the forest.” Potato chirped from his new hiding place inside your jacket.
The spriggan solution to everything was not worth considering.
“We are not doing that.”
“I could make the roots hide them, why don’t you want their sweet flesh?”
“We already had this conversation, no.”

It grumbled and went back to chewing a pinecone he had.
The rest of the journey went without incident until you spotted a fallen wagon.
Taking a slow approach, the group dismounted the horses and sneakily approached.
It was a fancy carriage that had fallen on its side and a body laid face down in the middle of the road.
The person was wearing a gold trim dress.
The thing smelled like a trap, and it was.

A group of bandits had poorly hidden itself in the bushes nearby, counting them was a bit hard but they were at least seven…

You started looking at their equipment and immediately realize they were the same idiots that had tried to mug you a few days prior.
They were had some better armor but they were still just villagers with farming equipment.

Your companions debated on what to do.
“Let’s heal the wound of society and erase the bandits!” Said the maniac, who you had learned was named David
“What? That’s not our job, let the mercenaries deal with this.” Emilia argued.
“The truth carries no words. I must cleanse their lives from sinful existence with a conflagration!”
The sleepy looking stayed quiet while his stomach grumbled.

You dismounted you horse and told the rest to wait a bit behind while you talked to them.
The group looked at you confused but they did have the time to stop you.

Walking up to the trap you waved at the bushes you saw them.
"Hey, remember me? We are off to investigate more ruins, and this time with a company of mercs, including a religious zealot who wants to murder you all.

There is a moment of silence
>[ Roll 18 + 6 ; DC 18 (they are getting bolder); Result: Success ]
And it was interrupted by the body lying in the middle of the road speaking up.
“Hey boss, do you know this guy?”

You looked at the fat man wearing a dress that was pretending to be dead.
This guy is new.

Another voice them came from the bushes as the rest of the bandit group got out of hiding
“God dammit fat ass! Your only job is to pretend to be dead.”
“Yeah, boss, because he was going to fall for it when he knew where you were.”

They kept arguing over whose fault was it the ambush failed.
When they got that out their system, they turned to you.
“Sorry about this, it was not professional on our part. We will try to aim for a better mugging experience next time.”
The leader said, you were unsure if he was serious.

“You should quit this bandit business, there will be more mercs, soldiers and inquisitors on the roads soon.”
“Yes, that’s why we are planning on recycling our brand and becoming pirates. They are classier.”
“They are not. Just stop robbing people.”
“Your suggestion is noted, well pack up boys, we are stealing a boat!”
After that comment the wander off, discussing how to increase their brand value.

Emila step close to you once they were gone.
“That was odd…do you want to loot the carriage.”
The thing was empty with the exception of a suitcase the bandits had ignored.
It had a few silk clothes, the lucky find being a coin pouch they had missed.

[+10 coins]
[Silk attire; no practical use but it can reach a good price on the market.]

After that the rest of the journey was quiet.

….

After making sure the way was clear, the expedition caught up to you without incident.

They made camp on a clearing next to the road by the time the sun was setting.
It was nice atmosphere. The mercenaries played cards while betting and the eggheads kept to themselves in small groups.
Everything was kept in check by the mercenary commander, Nhave, silently eating alone and glaring to whoever started making a ruckus.

You grabbed dinner from the assigned cook, a sort of brown stew .
With your grub in your hand, you had some time socialize, or just eat quickly and rest for the next day.

What will you do?

As you weight your options a hand was placed on your shoulder.
“HI! I forgot your name, but where do we eat.” It was David, the maniac
He gave you a toothy smile with several missing teeth in it.
You were going to answer but he quickly began to wander off.
“Diya! I haven’t seen you since morning, how are you?” He said, approaching a group of dwarven woman that gave him a confused look.

I doubt the bandits know magic, but they may know a few dirty tricks.
If we manage to get a few bonus to our hit chance, we can mitigate the downside of the chad polearm

Dirty Tricks is just the thing we need, and we did learn that flashbang spell from their leader. With any luck we might learn a think or two from these pumped up farm boys.
Honestly a (-3 to hit) isn't the worst, and thanks to our Basic weapon training the penalty is mitigated down to a -1. With our strength of 6 we'll be rolling 20+5 to attack on average which is where we started I think. Not bad all things considered.

You decided not to mingle for now. Eating your food quickly you got to the "tent" first.
It was a waterproof fabric roof tied between several trees.
There were no walls.
Thanks to being one of the first to arrive, you were able to choose one of the hammocks that were set up.
It wasn't ideal but better than the floor with a blanket.

The noises of your companions were drowned out by howling wind and sleep.
[Well rested bonus: +2 to your next roll]

...

GAME OF DISTORTION (2/3 road events)

You woke up to the sounds of Nhave screaming orders.
“Wake up ladies! You have to pack up all this before the sun rises or you will walk all the way to the next camp!"

A few minutes later you were on your horse and riding away from the camp.
The best way not to be dragged into chores.

The trail was clear, giving you time to get to know those around you a little better.

David was… enthusiastic when explaining his quest to kill at least one of each creature in existence.
It was an immature goal but you were not going to tell him that, it was surprising he had managed to make it this far.

The quiet one was called Ihlist, you weren't sure how to pronounce it or what its sex was.
The only thing it shared was that it was a northern elf, which explained some differences with your other companions.
Like the tail and the fangs.

>>5198450
You also tried to flirt with Emilia.

"If you were a vegetable, you'd be a cutecumber!"
She looked at you for a while processing your sentence.
"What is a cutecumber? Are you trying to insult me?"
You panic slightly when you realize they don't have that here.
"If I were a door...i would...uhh."

She didn't try to hold back her laughter, which hurt your feelings a bit.
she patted you on the back while she calmed down.
"You're bad at this, charmer. You can practice your swearing with me, maybe I will teach you."

...

You were a bit distracted by the conversation when you were forced to stop.
You had arrived at the stone bridge you were supposed to cross.
All of you stood in silence observing the pile of rubble that remained.

"We'll have to turn around."
"Knocks and bells will not impede the passage!"
"David, shut up." Emilia said as she checked a map.
"We can take a detour here and go through this village. That way we will reach another bridge.
Although one of us has to go back to the group and report the detour."

Who will you send back to notify the change?

Your little group advanced through the forest.
You had found the detour but it felt strange, the monotonous undergrowth felt more repetitive than usual.
And the road became a dirt path the snaked is way around massive trees.

You finally reached the village you had to cross.
Decrepit moss-roofed buildings leaned toward the newcomers.
The only indication that this place was not abandoned was the smoke from the chimneys.

You advanced to the center of the village when you realized that the road ended here.
"Wait, the map says we have to continue forward." one of you said.
You were standing there for a few minutes, trying to figure out where you had gotten lost.
Meanwhile the figures at the windows increased in number.

I was expecting the group to split up and do their investigation but since the vote is:
>Go to the Inn, see who you find.

I will asume you all go there.
>>
>Go to the Inn, see who you find.

You decided to go into the Inn to see if you can ask for directions.
It is a large stone building with a small sign reading "The Golden Hog"

Opening the door you were greeted by a large dimly lit room with three empty tables and a bar.
There are no decorations, it’s the bare bones of what you would consider a tavern.
Behind it was a pale man drinking from a bottle.
"morning, what can i serve you?"

"Yes, I think we've gotten lost. Which way to the village of Rozas." Emilia said while showing him the map.
"You're in it. I would recommend the mead."
"No, we're just passing through, but what happened to the road? We are supposed to cross the village."

The man staid quiet for a minute.
He looked like he was going to cry at one point but he took a drink from his bottle.
"It's gone, what can I serve you?"
"We know it's not there, but why?" Emilia insisted, getting irritated by him.
"If you're not going to drink anything, I'll ask you to leave." He said turning back and picking up a new bottle.
“It’s not even noon, do you seriously expect us to start drinking?”
“Then I recommend you try to leave our little town. After that you will want a drink.”

You were interrupted by the sound of the door closing and the sound of small footsteps running away.
"Shit. That's the kid, it's the first time he sees travelers. Forgive him." The man said.

“Speak devil’s harlot! Where is the path!? I will fill you eye sockets with iron!”
You tried to restrain David, but he was halfway up the counter.
The bartender ducked trying to escape him.
“I don’t know, just leave me alone.”

You pulled David off the counter and tried to calm him down.
“David, calm yourself, your targets are the monsters, not the one terrorized by them.”
“The harlot is aligned to them, let me bleed his truth out. I shall read his entrails if necessary.”
“Sure, but let me try first.”
He seemed to calm down a bit after that so you began your interrogation.
“Look at my friend David here. He's practically frothing at the mouth at the chance to purge monsters and such.
Deny such zealotry will do you nothing but harm, so why don't you tell us what happened?”
The man sighted, then looked out the window to something you could not see.

“I don’t know how it started, I was just a traveler that got stuck in this town.
If you try to leave you will walk in circles and end up back here.
As far as I know, the Witch in the woods did this.”
He took another gulp from his bottle.

“And as you can imagine, a town without good crops or trade can’t survive, so we make deals with her.
Offering what we can scrape by in exchange of essentials.
She accepts everything. If you offer enough to her she will let you leave this cursed place.”
“How did she do it? And why?” you asked a bit intrigued.
“How? No one is sure. The why… I think she just wants to be entertained, the only one that has spoken to her is the priest.
and he won’t tell anything. He is the worst of us, but it’s not personal, we just want to escape.”

“I understand, we are here on an expedition, we are simply ahead of our escorts.
I'm sure they will want drinks, and will be strong enough to lend a hand.”
“I’m sorry.” He said looking down.
[“Soulless” trait activated, there’s been an attempt to put you to sleep by magical means.]

You suddenly feel nauseous; the world spins for a few seconds.
When you return to your senses you see David out cold on the floor.
Emilia was helping Ghal up.

“Please, we don’t want to kill you. Just let us offer you to her.” The bartender said.
You looked back at him.

He was holding a mace and you could hear people come inside the bar.
Looking around there are only four of them, all equipped with leather armor and swords.
They seem frail but experienced.
The priest is among them, with a serious expression and holding a book in his hands.

If the witch is potato's mother, then common sense indicates that her powers are only "Illusions but more believable" and therefore is fucked bigtime if we see through her illusions and turn her into a punching bag.
Being brought to the witch doesn't sound that bad since it saves us on some time and we can leave earlier if we defeat her.

We could convince them to fight the witch and give us some extra time before going to the witch so we can make a flamethrower spell (sticky napalm kind) just in case. It doesn't matter anyways, if we fail to convince them just tell them that we will comply and go visit the witch.

>Try to talk them out of this (speech)

"You dicks! I had just offered to go deal with the problem, and my friend there was practically jumping at the opportunity.
We are scouts for a party to venture into demon lands, we are prepared to handle witches, that's literally our job.
All you had to do was to point us in the right direction and we would have offered ourselves without you doing all of this, we fight Rot Eaters for a living.
So how about you put your weapons down, let my friends get better and we go deal with this witch our own terms, we can all pretend that you got overwhelmed and neither party here gets hurt?"

[Roll; 13 + 6 DC; 20 Result; failure.]

The priest had a severe expression when he began to speak.
"And what is your master plan? What are you going to be able to do that we can't? Are you going to go into the woods and scream until she comes for you? The only time we see her is when she comes to us.
We have tried to burn the trees, poison the land and at one point twenty people entered together hoping to kill it.
Nothing has worked, and I will not allow everyone to die here.”
He turned his gaze to the other villagers. None disputed what he had said, so he continued.

“The fact that more people are coming is terrible. Supplies will begin to run low eventually and she will tempt the weakest and we will end up having to cannibalize each other to survive.
So put down your weapons and let the family escape.”

*Well shit, it didn’t work* you thought taking out the flash rune you had been searching for in your pocket while the priest ranted.

[Improvised flash used] 1d4 - >>5200340 You are not blinded.

Raising your arm up in the air, you poured energy into the rune, creating a white sterile light.
The villagers cursed while Emilia picked up David and run out with you.

As you bolted out the front door you startled the onlookers that had gathered there.
An old couple and a woman with her child.
Once they saw you, they all began to run back into hiding.

What will you do now?
>Go hide/barricade yourself in, wait for the rest of the expedition. (>>5198884 Where?)

>Escape into the woods
>”Come into the woods, ALONE, demon.”

“Lets hide on the edge of the forest. If they say the truth they won’t dare to go near it.”
You said that with enough confidence to convince the others, but you knew this was not your best plan.
But you didnt have many options left and staying in the town would lead to violence.

You only looked back once while running to the trees.
And to your delight you had been right, a few of the villagers had gotten outside of the bar but didn’t pursue.
Wait… is that a good thing?

You didn’t have much time to ponder it as you started going through the thick undergrowth of the forest.
After a few seconds of relocating to a place where you can still see the town but are hidden, you can breathe easily.
“Master, I propose we abandon this town to its fate.
With your skills we could attempt a real escape, we would have to be quick in returning to the expedition, there must be other paths.”
Ghal said very plainly while Emilia woke up David by slapping him repeatedly.
“It’s a option, let me think about it, I need to do one thing so stay here.”

Taking out you pole arm you began to make the most absurd breadcrumb trail possible.
Chopping down the young trees as you went deeper into the woods.
You will definitely find you way back, illusions or not.

The trail of destruction you made grew, and the forest became wilder, less tidy.
Looking back you realize that the forest surrounding the town had been grown on purpose with a pattern.

Then you heard laughter.
“When I saw a demon fall into my web I expected a few things, but not that you would run away from creatures weaker than you.
And definitely not that path you made, it’s hilarious! Are you pretending to be an elf? Oh my, that’s even funnier! Such a proud monster reduce to pretending to be prey.”

You turned to see a topless elf emerging from the dark.
“I assume you are the witch.”
“And you are going to spoil my pantry with your antics.”
She kept a cheery smile
“your pantry? Is that the reason you have a town hostage?”

She burst out laughing at that
"Well, more of a slow cooker. Hopelessness gives a special flavor, if you behave I might be willing to share…
Well no, I have been preparing this batch for some time, if you want a bite you would need to help.”

You were stuck in silence, unable to speak as you searched for ideas on what to do.

[You have been exposed to the illusions of the forest for some time.]
[“Soulless” 2/3 now, 1 more for next level]

What will you do?
>Cast Anti-magic sphere (and then what?)
>Use Potato as a hostage, (and demand what?)
>Ask some more questions (what?)

>I ran away because I would rather NOT kill the townsfolk. You seem to know of humanity only as much as the normal people do, we are much more than mere monsters.
>No wonder Potato can't understand morals, if that's how his mother behaves. Do you just sow them randomly, letting them the weak be culled, like an animal would?

>>
>>5201319
By the way, if this is too many actions OP, could you just count my original plan?
>>
>>5201321
Ah right, I forgot that Devolved Vodka (Potato) ate people.
I still want to tie her up, drag her around the ground, parade her around the village, and steal her spells before killing her though. It may also be useful to keep her around as a slave, or we could also give her to the townspeople for some sweet revenge.
>>
>>5201339
Keeping her as a slave sounds found, like a turret we can use for additional firepower.
>>
>>5201339
>>5201344
But how would we keep her contained? Potato is small and weak enough we can bully him around, but she seems to be way more of a hassle for anyone that isn't soulless.

Anyway, one thing I look foward is talking to someone about how our home is Earth, not Averno (a entry to hell in Dante's Inferno), and that name comes from Terra in latin, and more importantly, Gaia in greek.
We only have Emelia to talk about that though, since she is the one that knows who we are.

>Can't bully her around because she's an adult
Yeah but we are a demigod from her POV. Also we probably have enough spells to back our claims up.
>she seems to be way more of a hassle for anyone that isn't soulless.
I dunno how she casts magic but it is unlikely that she would be able to cast anything if we put a blindfold on her eyes.
If she tries to flee, just tie her up and have Ghal watch her over while we sleep.
There's also no reason why we couldn't also use the same box as we did with potato but bigger.

>>
>>5201321
>>5201303
Do we even have enough magic to do all of that after using the flash spell?

>>5201339
I think it would be cooler if we kept her as a servant.

>>5201360
>But how would we keep her contained?
We can't contain her, but what we can do is leash her. Remember when the elves tried to make us sign a contract? We can do the exact same thin on her, except we can kill her with or without a contract.

>find someone to talk about home.
Me too anon, me too.

>>5201371
>>5201374
Remember the first few posts when we were presented a contract, buy we "ayyy lmao" out of the circle? We could do the same to her, but better.

>>5201295
Actually, are we able to make Patato and his milf moment sign contracts with us?
>>
>>5201374
The bullying I was talking about phisically dragging potato around, she is probably weaker than us due to the whole demonic thing, but there is still a size sifference between a woman and a pocket size thing.
And hiding her might be way harder, we could disquise her as a normal elf, but if we shove her into a cage it will draw attention.
>>5201397
>Forcing her into a contract
Holy shit, I forgot about that, and it might actually work in making her cooperate. We will probably need to beat her up a little first, and convince David to not go monster hunter on them.

I just realized, the villagers are going to tattle us to the inquistion when they pass by aren't they?
>>
>>5201412
>hiding her
Both her and Patato are adept at illusion magic, her more so than her son. She could easily hide among people if she wanted to, and even if her magic disguise failed we can give her a psychical disguise as a backup.

beating her up is the easier part. David is going to require a strong speech check, maybe we just need to bullshit him hard enough. We could whip out the amulet and say we're part of the inquisition, and the dryad only thought we were a demon because of a demon artifact we were carrying.

>I just realized, the villagers are going to tattle us to the inquistion when they pass by aren't they?
They don't know that we're human, so we're still safe.
>>
>>5201397
I still don’t know what aberrance is
>>5201412
Contract actually sounds quite good but we will need to weaken her first. Also we can totally bully her what are you talking about? Just kill more trees.
>>
>>5201419
Of course, we would only need to hide her if we put her in the no magic cage or another method to stop her spells, if we got her to a contract it would not be nescessary.
Also, I think David does not know we are a demon since he got knocked out by the sleep spell, while Emilia and Ghal didn't, but convincing him is going to be hard anyway.

The villagers will definatly talk about the group that stopped the evil witch though, unless the priest tries to cover up the story so he doesn't get backlash for cooperating with her.
>>
>>5201427
That's still a different kind of bully though, threats and hurting things someone cares about, while effective, is on another level as being able to hold them like a squeaky toy. Actually, does Spriggans even care about trees that are not part of their territory?

So what's the new plan? Pop the anti-magic field, beat her up and them try to make a biding circle and contract?
>>
>>5201442
I wanted to do some pro wrestling moves. If you want a different type of bullying though why don't we tickle her till she cries? Or just verbally abuse her. We have decades of media with bullies, we can figure something out.
>>
>>5201459
I think we have a misunderstanding, the bullying I meant was in a continued kind of thing to keep her under control, before the contract idea was raised.
Because right now I'm all in for giving a suplex followed by the People's Elbow
>>
>>5201470
Tickling still works. Though remember, we are a 'demon' so using that to scare the shit out of her can probably do it.

I got no idea if she beat us or not so according to your reaction we beat her ass

You decided that neutralizing the witch was your best option for now.
You weren't really sure how you were going to do it, but you could buy time.
"It can't be just to have them despair, with your illusions you could have done that in mere days. You are obliviously toying with the town for more than that. Is it merely boredom?"

"Flattery? Well done. But no, it takes longer to make a lasting impression, although I'll grant you it's quite entertaining. This skin suit was actually the priest sister, it’s been amazing torturing him with it since she volunteered to sacrifice herself so they could get through a winter."

As she started to tell you about the things she's been up to, you took the opportunity to grab the aberration battery from your backpack.
You didn't know how to use it but luckily it was intuitive, so you were able to cast the spell.

Soul battery; (Contains 1/5 Aberrance)
[Anti-magic sphere is in effect]

You didn't notice anything when the spell took effect, the only difference was the dust motes increasing in quantity in the air.
"You motherfucker! You want to take me out so you don't have to share!"
She started coughing, spewing some golden liquid onto the forest floor.

You both looked at the amber stain.
Realizing what you had done, she lunged at you.

[Roll 20 + 5 (the Bo5) DC 16 + 3 Result: success; 6 damage]

You're not sure why she did that.
Dodging her first attack you easily moved your polearm over her and hit her on the head.
Without magic her body wasn't that different from an ordinary person.
Maybe it was her ego, but she pounced on you again and this time your swing cut her open.

You both stared as the blood began to come out of her body.
The golden liquid ran down your weapon, reminding you more of tree sap than blood.
At first she was in shock, but she quickly calmed down.
"I'm a fucking idiot, but had a good run." She said between chuckles.
She collapsed on the floor, letting more of her blood spill out in the process.
She was still conscious, but not for long.

"What? Are you going to just stare at me while I die?"
You hesitated, she was still dangerous, probably.
"Afraid I will bite? I won't do it if you don't offer a chance."
You still had the contract Niven tried to get you to sign.
Why you hold on to it, you're not sure.
Maybe you could get her to sign, although you had doubts if it was a good idea.

While you decided Potato decided to peek out.
"Hi mom!"
The witch looked at her offspring in surprise.
"Look at you, so much potential reduced to so little. You were supposed to be better."
"I'm sorry mom. Are you alright?"
"Yes, of course" she lied

Weeeeell the original contract was pretty darn strict. We could give her a quick look at the contract (like 10 seconds to look at it) before taking it away and offer to rework the contract to give her some wiggle room. Within reason. That's only a suggestion if she finds the original contract less enticing than death.

At least this way she might be more willing to accept the deal of signing the contract know, with the cavate of signing another contract that's less suffocating at an undisclosed date down the line. Eventually.

Hey OP, do we get the chance to customize the contract, or is it the one Nieven was going to make us sign?

Anyway, the deal is simple: Sign the contract and live, refuse and become kindle

If we can customize the contract, make it as follow
1 - She must obey us, and whoever else we give the title of companion
2 - Our order superceed the ones of a companion
3 - She may not reveal our nature, not allowed to refer to us a human or demon, obly our name or as an elf.

>>
>>5202656
We should also add punishments for breaching the contract, like rapidly intensifying pain followed by death for disobeying an order. Or we could replace "must" by "will" so she is physically unable of breaching the contract and freezes or something every time she tries to.

Ok, contract mk 2

If you meant number 4, it seems I miscounted (tree times), if you meant the attack clause, I reworded it to cause harm, so it's even more restrictive.

Here's my third (fifth if you count the two deleted post) attempts

1 - She must obey the contract holder, and whoever else is given the title of companion, and stay within communication range to at least one of them at all times

6 - She is prohibited from intentionally harming the contract holder or a companion, directly or indirectly
7 - She is prohibited from causing harm to anyone, directly or indirectly, unless in self-defense, ordered to by the contract holder or a companion, or to fulfill clause 5
8 - She is prohibited from using any magic, unless in self-defense, ordered to by the contract holder or a companion, or to fulfill clause 5 or 4
9 - She is prohibited from stealing or causing damage to any object or property, unless ordered by the contract holder or a companion, or to fulfill clause 5
10 - She is prohibited from to eating people, draining their energy/soul/aberrance, unless ordered by the contract holder
11 - She must always directly tell the truth to us or a companion, unless ordered otherwise by the contract holder
12 – In case of the contract holder’s incapacitation, she is to prioritize the orders of our companions following the inheritance order
13 - In case of the contract holder’s death, a companion will become the new the contract holder, following the inheritance order
14 - The contract holder is allowed to add or remove companions and change the inheritance order as they please
15 - Possession of the contract does not make on the contract holder, they must either be the original, or have inherited it
16 - If the contract holder and all companions die, she is bound to never cause harm to others, eat people, take their skin or trick anyone, by lies or illusion, ever again.

>Make a deal with her. (She may accept or reject it)
>Full obedience or death.

You changed the contract quickly.
Comparing it with the original, your version was much stricter.
But you had a lot more leverage than Niven had on you.
Ironic that you are the one binding other creatures now.

You presented the contract to her.
"If you submit to these conditions I will save your life. There is no possible negotiation."
She studied it for a bit.
As she was reading, she changed her expression of to show frustration.
"You really are a demon, forcing me to decide between dying or living like a dog."
"Do you think your son lives like a dog?"
"Yes."

You were silent a little longer.
The bloodstain below her body continued to grow.
With tears in her eyes, she accepted her defeat.
"Fine, I will do it. But get me the Priest soul, you have a nice container where you can put it."
"I said I wouldn't negotiate. I won't kill an innocent man."
"But he isn't! He has sacrificed far more than he needs trying to fuel his vendetta."
"Don’t try to pin this on him, you killed a lot of people."
"You can't… take it away from me."
Her voice began to fail her.
“You don’t have much time left.” You said.

“If she dies, can I eat her soul?” Potato asked
You stared at him in disbelieve, what kind of relation did this two have?
“Of course honey.” She responded before you.

What will you do?

Lmao if she dies we still get the +1 to a stat.
Mind if I throw in my two cents? In addition to her signing our contract, we can make an alibi. We heal her up, she uses her magic to make a life like replica of her corpse plus slathering a bunch of blood all over it for that extra authenticity.
She then disguises herself as a different elf but appearing wounded. We could say she was fleeing from a forest monster that talked about "flavors of fear" or something. Honestly we can work out a better alibi with her if she tells us more about her hunting methods.

Since I've had time to mull over this contract I'll exercise my power and add this.
"Impossible orders can be ignored."
You can complain but it's fair.

>Sign or die (Speech)

"Am I really going to die here?"
"That depends, all you did to that village was force them to choose how much they were willing to sacrifice to continue living.
Now I'm asking that question of you.
Are you going to leave behind the life you had or be a hypocrite and let your pride kill you?

[Roll 20 + 6 DC 11 Result: Critical success]
[Crit: your standing of her with her will be neutral, instead of hostile]
[New companion/slave acquired]

Your frankness caught her by surprise, and she gave you a smile.
"I'm afraid you're right. It's the same test I gave them.
Does that mean you're going to eat me?"
She tried to laugh at her joke but coughed up more amber blood.

Extending her arm, I sign the paper in blood.
You turned it out of curiosity, to see what her name was.
"The witch" was the only thing you could read.
"You don't have a name?" you asked him, remembering that Potato didn't have it either until you gave it to him.
When you looked up from the paper, she had fallen unconscious.

"Oh shit!" you yelled taking out your first-aid kit
beginning to heal her wounds with a mixture of surgery and esoteric ointments.

After half an hour of work you managed to stabilize her.
she would be unconscious for a couple more hours... if she was lucky.
so you carried her on your shoulders and headed back to the group.
This was going to be a little difficult to explain to David.
Lucky for you, he wasn't there.
>>
The first to see you was Emilia.
"Anon, what the hell have you been doing!? And who is that?"
"Master, please tell me you haven't collected another parasite?" Ghal appeared, making the situation a little more awkward.
"Let's just say she's not going to be a problem anymore... it's quiet, where's David?"
Emilia pointed to a path of felled trees that you were not responsible for.
"He really liked your idea and wanted to beat you to it by killing the witch first."

Emilia circled around you, seeing the body of the witch.
"There are times when I forget that you are a demon. What are you going to do with her? Maybe-"
"Preferably kill her." Ghal interrupted Emilia before she started talking about her fantasies.
"Master, this creature is very dangerous, you have the right to ignore me but I ask you to get rid of it."

"You always say the same thing, so I'm going to put you in charge of Potato."
You took the little spriggan out of your pocket and put it in his hands.
"I need you to go destroying the illusions that prevent us from passing. With the witch is bound so it wont be dangerous."
Ghal looked with some revulsion at the creature saying goodbye to you in its hands.
"it will be done." he said he before setting to work.

Only you and Emilia remained.
"And we still have to think about how to hide your new pet, right?" she asked you
"First we have to tell the village that the witch is dead... but yes."
"This is going to be fun."

What will you tell the village?

Wait, is the +4 on top of the +3? Or is it the same, but with one point more for some reason?
Anyway, this one we have to tell, because the moment we start ordering her around or she cast powerful magic, they will get really suspicious. And they will either think that we have been tricked and try to kill her, or be angry that we tried to lie to them, making us even more suspicious.

>Tell them the witch is dead, the blood on your weapon will be proof enough.

Was it wrong to lie to them, maybe? But when you told them you had killed the witch you confirmed it was probably the best course of action.
At first they didn’t believe you, and the excuse of needing to burn the body so the forest would be cleansed was meet with skepticism.
But Ghal and Potato had been doing their job so the illusions placed on the missing road fell.
The townsfolk weren’t really sure what to do after that.
A silent panic settled when they realized the implications.

After an apology and giving you some random trinkets and spells, they quickly began packing their stuff.
Always wanting, but never planning on leaving this cursed place, now they rushed.
Most of them left before the expedition arrived.

> Say she is a victim of the witch (+2 Group suspicion)

A couple of hours passed after that.
Emilia and Ghal kept going down the road to check that the path was clear.
Meanwhile you waited for the witch to regain consciousness and for David’s return.
It was a quiet wait, until he appeared.

David had come back from his adventure covered in blood and announcing that he had killed the witch.
You weren't sure what the blood was from, but you decided not to argue with him.
You hopped it would be easier to introduce him to the spriggan that way.

But when he saw her, he began to howl and proclaim that the beasts wanted her guts.
He couldn't elaborate beyond that.
You distracted him with the alcohol the barkeep had left behind in his rush to leave.

An hour later you were sitting before the three leaders of the expedition with the witch sitting next to you.
Trying to bullshit your way out of this.

It was a familiar situation.
Sat at a table, being judged by the people in front of you.
Now it remained to convince them.

"Assuming what you report is true, why should we accept the presence of this woman? She is not prepared to enter the demon lands."
"Leaving her in this village would be a death sentence and she needs help"

They considered your point and turned their attention from her to her.
“Apologies, we have been a bit rude, what is your name?” The woman said.
“The Witch didn’t need one, so I do neither.”
“I’m not buying that, but what do you think of this situation?" another of your bosses said.
"I should stay with him because I’m his sex slave."
It was the first time she had spoken at this meeting and you were already regretting bringing her here.

"Excuse me?!"
"Since Master defeated the Witch now I belong to him!"
"Okay, I won’t buy that either, Is that the extent of your relationship with him?"
"He was also my first time. I felt as if he was going to split me in two ~"
There was silence in the room

"JOHN, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!" The bearded elf looked like he was going to burst a vein.
"She attacked me and I stabbed her!" You tried to explain, even though the truth was just as bad.
They stared at you in disbelief, deciding whether to believe you.
"It's true, I jumped on him and Master touched my heart~" she said, you didn't know if she was helping you.
But she enjoyed their reactions.

"John, she obviously has some mental problems and I don't want to deal with them.
We will assign her kitchen duty and her actions will be your responsibility. Now please go away." The bearded man said.

“Wait! We need to talk more about this.” Another one said.
>>
After leaving the tent two hours later you sighed.
Somehow you had made it, but you were exhausted.

You had a lot of things to do.
And the first one would be to get some clothes for the witch.
“Why do you want to put cloth over me, master? Do you dislike my peltry?”
“Are talking about the skin. Don’t refer to it that way.”
“Fine, I can change if you ask me.”

You were going to respond, but then you realized what she was trying to make you say.
“You are not changing into anything, just cover yourself further. Here put this on.”
You passed her a shirt one of the mercenaries had donated to the cause.
Apparently Nhave didn’t like how the “new recruit” was distracting her girls, so you had plenty of cloth.
All of them were too large her, and the elves were not keen on sharing so you ended up recruiting Hildra to the effort.
In her words “If you end up sewing your own wounds a piece of cloth is not that hard.”

The result was a modest dress reminiscent of a toga.
The witch seemed to like it a lot, she twirled around in it for a bit.
And then she whispered something into Hildra’s ear before you could stop her.
Hildra laughed awkwardly and moved away.
“Hey Anon, your friend is disturbingly straightforward. Not even dwarven gals are this blunt.”
You sighted, knowing she was probably talking about eating her soul.

(-1 to group suspicion)

The second thing on the to do list was talk with Emilia and Ghal about the contract.
You gave them a explanation on what was happening.
Ghal wished you luck and ordered the witch to avoid him if possible.
Then he wandered off.
Meanwhile Emilia was excited.
The power went immediately to her head.

She played a few rounds of Simon says to see if you were serious.
Then asked about the tribute the villagers had been paying her.
You learned it was either throw away or used to lure people.
When she was satisfied she ordered the witch to address her as “your grace”.
(-0 to group suspicion, you have been with her all day)
>>
Rolled 3 (1d8)

After that you went alone to talk to David, trying to learn what exactly he had killed.
“The witch was standing on all fours and had many eyes. She judged me insane and I drew steel.”
You decided to not ask further.
[Note: this was a deus ex machina so David does not do something reckless, if you want tell him the “truth” I will allow it, but he is unstable enough at it is.]..

...

After dinner you were able to have a real conversation with the spriggan.
“You are a wicked creature, Master. Putting me to serve food to the other mammals, it’s a waste of my power.”
“Yes, sure. Tell me you name, your real one.”
“Spriggans have no need for them.”
“Well, I do, so I’m calling you Flora. And here we do the standard test to judge your character.”

>What is Lucy’s reaction to the spriggan?
1-4 Lucy attacked her
5-7 Lucy ignored her
8 they actually get along fine.

With that done you start your questions.
>Can Flora add runes to our poleaxe to make it stronger?
“Best I could do is adding runic circles to the handle of the weapon.
Most of my magic is centered on illusions so don’t expect anything grandiose.
And if you gave me enough souls I could pour a lot of aberrance into the metal, the result would be random and possibly worthless.
but it would be something permanent.”

> Can she teach us more about the art of life drain?

“oh, are you finally going to listen to common sense and take the power you should have?”
“I’m interested in the theoretical knowledge for now.”
She blew a kiss you way.

“They all say something like that at the start.
Anyway, it’s not a life drain. Everything has a “soul” if you want to be technical.
That includes stones, trees and water, but organic life serves as something of a magnet so it gathers more.
What we call a soul is just the imbalance produce by the accumulation of aberrance in one place.
To take that aberrance the guy must be dead or you are going to spend a lot of energy ripping it out.
>>
she continued
"Why does that happen? Don’t know, don’t care.

Next you will ask about the flavor. This imbalance is not equal, there are different types of aberrance.
That’s why some people are better at some types of magic, they physically attract one type more suited to produce certain effects.

In the village I created a certain state of mind that would affect their bodies, and so attracting certain type of aberrance.
If you want to learn how to do it I could teach you, but what will you give me in return?”

“An order to do it.” you said
“Oh fuck you!”

> She has to teach us her spells, and explain how Spriggans work

“Spells, that’s easy. But you won’t be as proficient as me when applying them since I have them build into my body.”
< Invisibility = [3 Aberrance] (self or other) (+15 to stealth rolls for 15 min)>
<Illusion = [X Aberrance] (range: long) (create a visual or auditory effect of your choice, realism depends on the aberrance put into it and the spell) (1 h duration)>

“How? And did you do that to yourself?”
“Think of a book, its pages have different information stacked. Now imagine that pages are living tissue.
That is a spriggan, we should technically be considered constructs.
To the second question… yes and no. Spriggans don’t reproduce sexually, we build more.
Once a spriggan has enough technical knowledge and magic it can create offspring, I build “Potato” from scratch.
The body I inhabit was built when I wanted something better.”

“What about food, Potato is doing fine without souls.”
“Spriggans bodies need more aberrance that what they naturally absorb.
Potato is an infant, I made his body so he could survive starvation. But if you don’t give him any, not even animals ones, he will die in… two years?
If you don’t make him cast any large magic maybe three.

And until I find a new stream of souls I will need to drain trees from time to time, that will kill them but I won’t diminish in strength… but I won’t be able to recover quickly.”

You started thinking about your next question when she surprised you with one.
“Your other slave, uh, Ghal? Where did you find him?”
“Why?”
“Most of his body is build similar to a spriggan, and I would like to study it.”
“is there a way to turn him back?”
“HA! No , no, no. that’s very permanent.”

[Group suspicion = 1]

>>5205108
> Can we turn Lucy into a big cat? Like say a Bobcat or Lynx?

“Well, he is a mammal with spriggan parts while I’m a spriggan with mammal skin.
I’m kind of curious to see how much we share in common and how long will it take till his body collapses.
Plus, maybe I could learn something. ”

OP responds:
>Have been petting and feeding our horsies?
Yes, and there are several horses on the expedition so they are meeting new friends

>On absorbing aberrance.
When I said everything has a soul I don’t mean they have useful one.
A elf might give you 5-9 aberrance, a tree might give you 0,1 and a stone 0,005. Animals can give you 0.1 – 2.
Nothing will give you absolute 0 but well damn near it, I spent a lot of time making this world a big unfair mess. There are no easy choices.

>If we absorb enough, can we increase aberrance to 2?
The aberrance stat is not how much you can have is how much you can hold.
You could absorb the soul from someone and have 8 aberrance but by the end of the day it will have trickled back to 1.

>Can we attempt to drain a tree away from camp if we have the chance?
Yes, in future down time you can spend it training and learning how to do it.

>On a similar vein of thought, do rot eaters give aberrance?

….

GAME OF DISTORSION (3/3 road events); the crash, the blood and the monster.
You woke up and got ready for the last part of the journey.
Having presented Flora as a victim of the witch bit you in the ass when you realized you had to leave her behind with the expedition.
You ordered her to behave and asked Hildra to keep an eye on her since she could wrestle her out of any situation.

The road was peaceful for the most part.
Emilia had the brilliant plan on challenging David to a push up contest and exhausted himself, that way he would spend the rest of the trip quietly resting.

And when the forest ended and the path between the mountains began, you expected something.
a military blockade, some ruins, some grand structure that parted the stone.
Something that would make a transition between the ash desert and the green that you have been traveling for so long.

You only found a well-defined line where the barren land began.
And a ravine opening that was the only way forward.
It's been about a week since you escaped from this place, and it seemed like it had gotten more hostile since then.
But the land had not changed, you had just become unaccustomed it.
“The demons call to us, I can hear their churches.” David was the first to notice.
Once the blue sky was left behind, you could all hear the faint sound of bells in the eerie silence.
You all agreed to ignore it.
It was better to not think of it.
You also ignored the tire tracks in the soil, you prayed they were something else.

Once you exited the ravine you saw the wasteland in all its barren glory.
And a kilometer down the road you could see something not so gray.
Ihlist took out a spyglass that wouldn’t look out of place in a pirate’s movie.
“We have a problem.” It said, passing it to you.

Looking yourself you saw what looked like a modern era truck flip over.
There was a bit of smoke coming from the engine and three figures around it.
“Those are chimeras.” Ihlist explained “Demon creations used as infantry by their dark masters.”
David was not very thrill at the prospect, as he kept very quiet.
You passed the spyglass to Emilia.
“They seem to have come back from a raid.” Your ranger said.
“If we don’t want the expedition to deal with them we will need to find a detour.”
You took one good look at them before stating your opinion.

Heck if I know but here goes? Is the Question what Gaia or the All Mother has a similar name and role as the Gaia from greek mythos? Both sort of helped made mortals, or made the means to which mortals were eventually made i.e. she made gods that would then make mortals?

Thread 1: Metis
"I fear that humanity are considered demons.
But I know the truth, you were chosen by the All Mother.” he says with confidence
“The All Mother?” you begin to have suspicions that he has some lose screws
.
“Your people called it Mother Nature or Gaia, I suppose.
Do you really think we just, one day for no reason, started summoning demons?
No, the only logical explanation is that she whispered the rituals of invocation.”

Maybe this world's Gaia is the moon sister equivalent to our earth gaia or something?

Hmmm. Yeah, maybe it's part of something to do with the External God that died of old age and humans? Heck maybe she only called herself Gaia because of her husband.
>>
>>5206232
>Sneak closer and take down the big guy

Well, I have a few ideas:
Collective human uncouncious psyque may be controlling this world, after all we are soulless and still can have aberrance, everything is distorted like a dream, and the universe follows the rule of programming, which is basically math + languagez the 2 most basic concepts of human understanding.

Another one is that earth is Gaia, and we live in her body. Humans are untouchable by the gods because we are not demons, but on the same powerlevek as them. Kind of like evangelion were all of humanity is an angel.

Last one is that humans are indeed demons - but the greek concept of Daemon - minor spirit and divinities, and that animism, ancestor worship and polytheism was right. Perhaps even kabalistic doctrine with math as magic as well.

On another note Metis is the name of a greek titan, daughter of Thetys and Oceanus, who in turn are children of Gaia and Uranus. I find it intresting the the madman servant of Gaia can see the future and shapeshift is named like that - and had the wrong gender. We need to be on the lookout for a character named Theia - the titan of vision - because if this naming convention continue, they will be the ones that supply Metis with the prophecies.

I'm on the fence about the sprrigans, and if they are closer to dryads, which were forst nymphs, than the cornish tomb monters. Then being children of Gaia makes then more dryad like, but being monsters and not nescessarily bound to nature also makes them more like the cornish ones.

We need to check the dates, humans were defeat 500 years ago, but they may have been brought even earlier.

Daimon were minor tutelary gods and mistery cults that were imported to greece from asia through their colonies at asia minor and alexander's conquest.
More or less like muses, spirit animal, totems or guardian angels, everyone got one, every house has one, every family ahs one.
Socrates was big on them, putting them above the dorian pantheon. The whole ideas things was because of Plato, his student, and the guy who rote about him.
In this case the daimon would be from the realm of perfect idea, how things are really syposed to be. Our realm is the real one and they live in the cave seeing shadows.

More aberrance mean we can recharge the batteries without having to kill something.
>>
>>5206564
Come on man, that baterry can hold more aberrance than what we could have received from all prior stat bonuses combined. Don't you think we could find some more?
I think that OP means (please clarify if I'm wrong) the aberrance stat just refers to the internal aberrance capacity. And even if increasing aberrance gives us 1 aberrance for free, that's still around a cow's worth of aberrance.
>>
>>5206572
Aberrance is the maximum we can hold, and so far it seems that it passively regenerates.
The only way to recharge the battery is to put our own aberrance in it, or kill something while holding it, so having more is a way to rechrage the battery faster, without having to go off to chop off 50 trees, hunt 15 deers or wait a week.
Perhaps one day we will find more, stick in a power armor and be able to cast that 20 points spell, but until then we fot to make due with what we have.

Well, if we do regain max aberrance every rest, than it's a good choice, since we can recharge the battery in half the time.
Could we make so we automatically recharge the battery after every rest, until it's full? Appologies if we already asked to do it and I forgot.

I would recommend having double her current strength (7 so 14) before trying to dominate her, just to play safe.
I.e. spending them all in strength is retarded because it still wouldn't be enough.

To be sincere, with how bullshit spells are and how scarce the opportunities to raise aberrance seem to be, not raising it every time we get a chance to do so would be a waste. Always remember that Wizards are the long term bullshit (and mid term bullshit too).

Now what's really got me wondering is why they knocked over a truck. No empire besides man probably has one of these, so I suspect some infighting is going on, possible some dead or alive human remains inside the vehicle.

Would it be possible for us to flip over the truck with some help and make off with it?

> Use Potato so he cast invisibility on you (then what?)
>Sneak closer (Instinct) (Try to knock one out and pull off the beaten path. Disarm it and question it for answers.)

You dismount from the horse and tell the group to wait here, they don’t take it well.
Emilia tries to convince you out of whatever plan you have come up with without listening to it.
David claims “you can’t talk to a sword”, whatever that means.
And Ihlist, after hearing your plan, just says “good luck.”

You ask Potato to cast invisibility on you, and he does.
The spell takes hold and you feel itchy all across your body, similar sensation to a wool sweater.
The spell works, you are invisible.
“Neat”

The arid wind blows, covering your foots steps in the ashen land.
You near the convoy, appreciating a bit batter what these creatures are doing.
Two of them are patrolling, while the other is trying to fix the engine.

You want to knock one out, so you pick the one that’s walking around the truck, since the other two are near one another.

[ ROLL: 15 + 9(bonus) + 15(magic) DC; 20 +5 Result: Critical success]
[crit; he falls unconscious]

You begin following from begging.
The creature emits the sound of radio static and the smell of gasoline.
It seems he is able to hear you, as he turns several times to look at your direction.
But the invisibility saves you.

Once you found your chance, you jump at it.
You invisibility flickered while you grappled with the soldier.
“Stop! YY0-ou arrree 2 violaTIon offfff law//www 121-D, 02-A and brrrrrrels-“
You ended up hitting it in the head and making it pass out.
You then dragged its heavy body into the ditch and took it away to a more secluded area.

Several minutes later, you managed to have him far away from the other two and tie it down.
The group is with you and the invisibility wore off.
You also tried disarming the bastard, but its gun is attached to its arm.

“So what now? Do we kill it and repeat with the others?”
It’s definitely a option, but you want some answers.
The creature looks monstrous with a bony armor, but there’s something that screams human.
And it’s getting on your nerves
A few slaps later it wakes up.
>>
When it sees all of you it opens its mouth.
It does not articulate, its mouth is just open while it begins to speak a prerecorded message.
“You are in violation of CURFEW, return to your home immediately. Martial law has been declared.”
Okay, that’s odd. But you still want answers.
“What are you?”
“Stop! You are in violation of law // 121-D. 02-A. and. BREAKING CURFEW.” The voice that spoke now was that of a woman,
solidifying the theory that these were prerecorded messages.

The group was confused.
Then you heard the faint sound of radio static below the things spoken.
“Stop that! What are you?!?”
“You are under arrest, submit to this: SQUAD. And await processing by the: MILITARY COURT. At the capital.”
Well shit, this was going nowhere.

They are operating under martial law, the human lands were under attack and the capital itself must have been under siege. We should be glad they are treating us as citizens instead of enemies and demanding our surrender.

>argue with the chimera about the legality of the situation

You looked at the eyes of the monster.
From what you could gather it was trying to follow a code of law set by the humans.
And you could bullshit your way through it and get more information out of him.

“If you want to arrest me, you must identify yourself first.”
It was a simple request.
“UNIT: 842 -Soldier class.” It responded in a man’s voice while it struggled against its bindings.
“On who’s authority have you been granted permission to arrest people.”
“Edict set by: Coronel Cedalion.”
*That was a very low rank to be setting laws* you thought to yourself.
“On what legal bases are you arresting me?”
“Edict 121-D; All organics found on national territory are to be arrested and brought to: MILITARY COURT.” A monotone robotic voice sounded.

You thought about it, that law made no sense, they would have arrested everyone in the demon confederacy if that was in place.
So you asked the correct question.
“When did this law get passed?”
“Date: 3-8 of the 94 year after summoning. 419 years ago.” It responded.
You all stared at him for a second, doing the math in your heads.
Ihlist was the first to point the problem out.
“The Demon confederacy collapsed 450 years ago… this was passed after… “
“Does that mean there are still demons?” Emilia asked
Nobody was sure.
So you asked the chimera.
“What are you supposed to do if you find a human breaking law 121-D?”
The chimera stood still for a second, processing you question.
“Edict 121-C; All human found on national territory are to be escorted and brought to: MILITARY COURT.”
Okay, that was… something
Then the chimera stood up, the ropes you had bound him with fell to the sides.

A blade had emerged from its forearm like a wolverine rip off and he had freed himself.
It stood a head taller than all of you.
“Do not resist arrest.” It said, but the way it moved gave you the impression you were all going to be killed in the process.

You considered talking to it and maybe getting arrested but you were not alone.
Your companions were around you and they could get hurt.
And they would not run away while you got dragged away by this creature, if you were taken conscious that is.

You all expected this to a difficult fight, and yet it ended before it started.
The tension cracks when Emilia begins laughing at the absurdity of the situation.
Ihlist congratulates you while Ghal checks on the other two chimeras.
They have notice their missing companion but aren’t sure what happen to it.

You sit down on the ground and begin pulling apart the remains of the creature.

There were other organs you could actually recognize, heart, lungs and the likes.

But there was no sign of a digestive track, there was a stomach, but no intestines.
“What do these things eat?” you ask yourself
Emilia was just as confused by these creatures’ entrails as you, but was to concentrated to respond.
Following the arteries from the gun you found they were connected to the corrosive sacks.
So the gun shots the acid goo? And judging from the position of the growing liquefaction of the creature, there were supposed to be more.

You wanted to keep prying into the monster but your time run out.
The last pockets of acid were breached and the rest of the creature went to waste.
Emilia managed to safely extract one of the sacks, but its unsure what to do with it.

“Are you guys done playing doctor? Because those two have become agitated and I would rather prefer the mercenaries deal with them.”
Ihlist commented, looking down at both of you.
You stood up to see what she… he… it was talking about.
Looking over the dune you had performed the improvised dissection you could see the two remaining chimeras search for their missing companion in an agitated state.
Sadly they didn’t want to wander away from the truck.
So if you wanted to know what was inside you would need to deal with them.

“Master, please tell me you are not considering attacking those two? We have no need.” Ghal tried to reason with you.
“NO, we must charge! If they can fall this easily we must burn their bones! These bug imitators must pay.”
David was at it again, seeing you kill one with one strike had warped his perception of the monsters, seeing them now as easy prey.

"David, I'll take care of the one on top of the truck, you take care of the other one. We'll attack when Ghal gives the signal and distracts them."

Give humans of this world the flesh armor set you get from Mass Effect 2 and 3. The weird flashie ones that look like Collectors. It'd probably eat the souls of whatever you feed it, or you can passively feed it Aberrance like what we've been doing for our coins.

I only realized til now that Potato is technically like a soul batter for us, but can cast spells. What's his Aberrance?

This one? It does look cool, and oddly fitting with the chimeras and demontech.

That's true, Flora would get angry to power the batteries wothout sacrifices, but Potato has been well behaved so far.
But even if both of them reguse, we could see if Emilia or Hildra would be willing to help fill, since as long it's just their natural daily refill it shouldn't go wrong.

I also found this other biotech armor while looking for an image of the collector. The wiki says it's the Kett armor from Andromeda, never played that one since I was burned out from the ending of 3, but I remember people said it sucked.
>>
>>5211527
I think it's for people who actually have Aberrance. If a personal doesnt have any Aberrance I think it'll just eat their soul.

>>5211531
Lots of memes from Andromeda, and yeah that was the armor I was talking about in your earlier post. Collector armor looks "cleaner," but this Kett armor looks like what the humans here might wear.
>>
>>5211527
This one looks like it's just living tissue and doesn't offer much protection apart from some chitin.
>>5211531
This other one barely looks like it is alive.
I feel like human power armor should use steel/porcelain plating for protection, and rely on flesh matter for movemet and other function. So basically a fleshy mess encased within thick armor plating, with the fleshy bits showing at the joints.

>>5211559
I really like the this one.
Maybe we should make it look similar to a chimera, but bulkier since it must house a human apart from its own organs and tissue. don't like power armor that is too form fitting for this same reason.
>>
>>5211575
If we had the choice to make any kind of power armor, we should make it look like your standard heavy infantry Tyr or elven soldier armor so no one in either society questions it when we wear it. It'll look cosmetically clean on the outside, and can have all the weird stuff on the inside.
>>
>>5211582
Now I realize that I messed up my syntax.
I meant that setting consistency wise, power armor should probably look like a chimera but bigger.
If we were to make some power armor, there is no way we could get several kilograms of flesh and a few centimeters thick plating to look remotely like your standard medieval armor, especially on the joints, unless we used illusion magic.
>>
>>5211598
Bot with that attitude. We just need to cover it with skin or synthetic skin so it looks like flesh.
>>
>>5211598
The flashier parts not the solid armor plates. Just bolt steel plates over it.
>>

“GHAL! Take care of David!” You screamed while charging, making the chimera aware of your presence.
The creature turned, you were getting to close to safely shot, so it took out its knife.
The more you saw it the more it looked it was purposefully ripping off wolverine.
You strike with your weapon, the creature blocking it and then trying to kick it out of your hand.

[Roll 16 + 6 DC 7 +7 Result: Success]
[Your min damage is 5, it will die.]

You manage to hold your grip and trust with the polearm.
The blade of the creature only managing to divert the blow from the head to the torso.
Quickly stepping back, you leave a hole the monster, the acidic blood pouring out.
After a brief moment to look at its wounds, the creature falls.

After a few seconds to regain your breath, you check on the rest of the team.
Ghal is quietly tending to the wounds of David, praying he can be saved.
You were going to leave them be, but David regained consciousness.
“Mr tree, Am I going to die here?”
“No.”
“Don’t lie! Answer me, why was it never enough?” He said, grabbing Ghal by the neck and pulling him uncomfortably close to his face.
“Stay still for fuck sake.”
You decide to leave after helping Ghal physically restrain David so he can properly heal him.

After that you gave a short sprint to check on the other two.

And finally the truck, you climbed on top to be able to open the metallic door.
Looking at it up close, you could see the wear and tear of this thing.
A cold breathe of air and the smell of blood greets you.
Stepping inside, this place could be divided in two parts.
A general storage and transportation area, and a cold room.

The cold room was filled to the brim with dead farm animals and some farmers.
They were a red goopy mass stored without care.
*So this is a chimera raid* you though to yourself,
you were a bit disappointed that it was just as a normal raid for resources and not the eternal skirmishes of the troops of a dead nation.
You decided to not open the door, the only thing there was unusable meat.

In the general storage are you had a bit more luck.
Most of the things there were empty containers and rusted objects.
But you did find something worthwhile.

>Choose 1
-An acid mist container (1 use) (create a cloud of mist over a large area, for every 20s a creature is inside, it receives 1 acid damage.) ( it remains there for 1d4 +1 days)

-A pupal bomb (set a date, the bomb will explode at that time. The more time since being set and left to feed and grow, the larger the explosion. Max amount of time: 1 year)

-Demon rations (8 of them) (a ration that restores 1 aberrance)

-Toolbox (+5 to tinkering rolls)

- Soul battery (Contains 2/5 Aberrance) can be recharged pouring Aberrance into it or killing a creature equip with it

Thinking about it, you should probably have this:

Flora= Strength-[5] /Aberrance-[12/18] /Instinct-[6] /Speech-[5] / Corporeality – [4] /Insight – [6]
Runic flesh; No need for runes when casting spells.
Born illusionist: Can create and maintain illusions with less aberrance.
Master illusionist: All pure visual spells take -3 aberrance to cast
Forest walker: Double the walking speed of this creature in forest
Ancient; Insight and instinct rolls can have a +5 if you have 5 min preparation.
Unstable construct: Every 4 days you need to spend 1 aberrance or die
Construct: you do not regenerate aberrance or corporality. This creature cannot die of old age.
Soul scrapping (advance): can absorb the aberrance+2 from a corpse.

Ghal had managed to save David’s life.
And the fucker immediately started talking about how he was planning on killing a chimera, since this plan failed him.
Ghal tried to convince him to at least stop moving and let the wounds rest.
David refused, making all his damaged skin bleed at the same time.
Quite impressive.

>Kill it, refill the battery.
You place the battery on top of him and a quick stab to the neck is enough to kill it.
The battery refills and that’s done.

>Soul battery.
A lucky find, these things are rare. You ended up needing to pull it out of some cables that connected it to injectors.
Probably it was being used as a refill station by the chimeras.
They won’t need it anymore.

>Fix the truck (yes) [ 3 votes against 1 ]
[Roll 17 + 6 DC 15 Result: Success]
Fixing the truck was a bit tricky, you never were a car guy.
But after looking at the work the chimeras was performing on the busted parts you understood.
The suspension had been unaligned by the road and the truck would lean on the side.
After a quick fix that should do the trick you encountered the problem.

How to lift it up and set it back on its wheels.
Using an absurdly big car jack the chimeras had and some creative rope pulling you got yourself a big nice truck.
One filled with disgusting meat on the freezer .

[I like to simplify, so 1 unit of fuel can last 4 days’ worth of travel during daytime.]
[The truck has 1d4 + 2 fuel]

[Group suspicion = 8 ]

After making sure this was the only obstacle ahead of the expedition, you returned.
The bell sounds could once again be heard in the distance, now more clearly.
You could now tell it was the direction of the city, but that was about it.
You hopped into the new vehicle and drove at the speed of the horses to not leave them behind.
>>
An hour or so later you arrived.
The truck might have been a bad idea, everyone panicked as they saw the chimera vehicle approach them.
You almost got attacked, but thanks to going slowly and having the horses by your side they didn’t immediately try to blow you up.
Forty minutes later and some explaining done to Nhave and the situation was mostly defused.
Mostly.

The mercenary leader looked at you with a stern expression.
“Are you trying to prove me you are not weak?” she asked you out of the blue
“What? Why?”
“Because, you took care of the chimeras without calling for backup. I have seen my girls do similarly stupid shit so they could brag about it.
I would be impressed, BUT, repeat me what was your job.”

“The scouting team?”

“Yes, and you almost got your team killed. Your job is to tell me what is ahead and then find a way to deal with them, you disobeyed orders.
You are lucky the eggheads are busy jacking off at the demontech you somehow acquired
You are a reckless soldier and I’m not endangering any of the people of this expedition on your bullshit.
I will make sure you are not in fucking charge of any teams sent to the city. Dismissed.”
She waved you off and left to check on, and probably scold, David for getting shot in such a stupid way.

Well, with that out of the way you wandered back into camp.
Then you were grabbed by the arm by Emilia. She seemed worried.
“I need to talk to you about something.” She whispered, guiding you behind one of the caravans.
“Look, it about what happen with the chimeras, I-“
“It’s not that, we both know how you are different. And I understand if you don’t realize how fragile life is, its your nature I suppose.
But I need your opinion on something.”
Once you were out of sight of the others she pulled you inside.
You were going to ask question but she shushed you.
The interior of the place was very normal, carrying several barrels and boxes of rations.

She pried open one of them and to show you her discovery.
The box was filled to the brim with explosives, the classical dynamite stick stacked.
“All these are the same.” She whispered while pointing at five more.
That was a lot, more than what would be needed for some archeological expedition.
or even a minning one at that.
It was concerning because if they brought so much, it meant they were planning on using it.

“How did you find these?”
“ah, well, everyone was gawking at the demon vehicle, so I thought it would be a good time to borrow things.
But I’m not sure what to think of this, am I crossing some line if I pocket some of this?”

More weapons = better.
They probably want to demolish the city because "the technology is too dangerous" or some other stupid excuse.
Standard, old style dynamite sticks are made out of unwaxed cardboard, and will shit the bed if you dump a bucket of water into them. We should probably do that so they don't blow up the city.
We should also replace the dynamite at the bottom of the boxes with rocks so they have even less explosives to work with and don't realize until it is too late.

> Confront Nhave
>Steal some of them
You look up from the dynamite back to Emilia.

"I've already pulled some stuff that you guys consider shady on this expedition,
and if we take them I would possibly be the prime suspect. But…”
“Its very tempting.” Emilia finished you sentence.
“Yes, and we should learn what these are for.”
“You are going to do something stupid, right?”
“Maybe.”
You stood up and searched for Nhave, you had question and it would require extreme amounts of bullshit to not get kicked out.

A few minutes later you found her, she had finished scolding David and whas giving the orders to set camp.
You casually approach as best you could while she stared daggers at you.
“So, Nhave, since when is the seeker clan in business of blowing up their archeological finds?”

She looked down at you, mainly because she was a head taller than you.
“What are you talking about now?”
“The dynamite, Is it some DeBeers monopoly deal where you control the flow of the findings to inflate the price?”
“What is DeBeers? And how did you find it?” she was growing suspicious.
“Oh, I smelled it…?” you said in a panic, she would not look too kindly if she knew you were snooping around.
“You smelled the explosives?” she said with a smirk.
“Yes, I can also smell you snuck booze into the expedition.”
“Piss off, everyone did that.”
Shit, she is on to you.
“Well yes, but, you hid it… with the medical supplies?”
She stared at you in silence for a second.

[Roll 18 + 7 DC 15 Result: success]

“Lucky guess, but fine.
Yes, Clan Seeker has brought a crate of explosives.
They will collapse the mountain pass and block it.
No more raids from there. Now make yourself useful, weirdo.”

So she knows about the crates, but thinks there is only one.
That’s something, you are not sure what it means.
Does clan seeker plan to use them in secret?
You wandered back to Emilia to see what she thought of it.
>>
“You know what that means? They won’t miss a few going missing if we take one or two from each crate.”
And you listened to her and stole a few explosives for yourself.
[4 explosives (1 use) (2d10 damage on small area)( *2 damage to structures)]

As you discreetly celebrated your new acquisitions the church’s bells rang again in the distance.
Everybody pretended not to hear them.

You decided to check on the group before committing to something.
David and Ihlist were with the medics, getting their wounds disinfected.
Niven was with the archeologist, gawking at the truck.
Ghal was maybe getting hit on by a scientist. It was a maybe because she was taking notes so she had probably learned he was half tree.
Hildra was playing cards with the mercs and Emilia
And Flora was hating every second of being a lunch lady.
Good times.

>Help the nerds with their truck investigation (-1d2 to group suspicion)
While it would be suspicious if you started explaining what the different parts of an engine do,
it would be beneficial to play a bit dumb and help the archeologist open up the truck without breaking it.
There were ten of them.
Five demon-tech specialist, four rune-crafters and Niven, who welcomed you warmly and thank you for the opportunity to study.

The truck was surprisingly mundane, not a single rune in its craft.
That was a letdown for some of the eggheads, but they persisted, and began studying the english texts scattered along the cabin.
Since these people used runes for writing, a writing that had no true meaning without its language was interesting on its own.
They had some words nailed down but not that many, the amount fluctuated with how many inquisitorial visits they had in a year.
You limited yourself to opening the different compartments and explaining what the pedals did.
[Group suspicion = 7]

In the meantime you had time to talk to Niven.
He knew little of the purpose of the expedition, is orders were to serve as a consultant for Rot eater behavior and demon tech.
He confessed he knew little of the first and nothing of the second, but he wasn’t going to pass an opportunity like this.
You then asked about the other people here, he called most of them mind-numbingly slow.

Very dumb scholars, he guessed it was done on purpose so they would be expendable.
And the three leaders were not all from clan seeker, one came from the Law-bringer clan and the other was part of the military.
Then he forced you to teach him to drive, after almost running over a scholar, Nhave banned driving inside the camp.

Then you had a conversation with Hildra, explaining the whole Flora situation.
“Okay, that’s worrying. Because I have been seeing her flirt with… almost everyone. Should we worry?”
“Maybe.” You said, trying to figure out if this was a scheme to escape or to entertain herself.
“I’ll try to keep an eye on her then. Thanks for telling me, I was considering taking her offer up.
Wait, is she a she?” she asked worried.
“More of an It.”
“Never been with an it. Wait, no, bad idea.”

The sun had elready set and the fire was put out. No need to bring attention to the camp.
But in that pure darkness created by the clouded sky, you saw the city burning with life.
Well, maybe not life, but it had light across different parts.

Morning came and everyone woke up to the sounds of the church’s bells going off.
The three expedition leaders gathered everyone and began explaining what will be done.

“Three teams will enter the demon city from different sides. They have a set course in order to explore certain parts we consider relevant.
When they finish they can shoot a flare into the sky.
Red is that they need an extraction team, green means they will stay within the city confines during the night.

If I remember correctly (I know nothing about this subject), men on the real world usually don't like pairing up with gals stronger than them, since ooga booga rules indicate that the weaker person stays inside the house, and therefore that would invert gender roles, when most men don't like to sit in their houses baking cookies all day long.

Technically, theoretically, hypothetically. If we were to attach a soul battery to a weapon to make it one item, or if we turn a weapon into a soul battery, or if we insert a soul battery inside of the blade/head of the weapon, so the offending creature technically be equipped with a soul battery for but a moment if it's embedded in them?

Like can we combine our Poleaxe with our batteries so we can refill them as we kill? If not, what if we get a fuck off huge maul, and stuff thr inside of it with as many soul batteries as structurally reasonable?

>Team C
You were assigned to team C, a group of 9 people that included, Ghal and Ihlist.
Your mission was to escort the group of religious rune crafters into what they suspected was the place the god of law was struck down.
That seemed like a poor idea to you, but you had no say on the charted path.
So you set to the city with no horses, as they would be useless with the blocked streets and the amount of rubble.
Another poor decision in your mind, since while it made the team more agile, it also made it slower.

The sky was still grey while the wind had stopped, the only sound was of the ash cracking beneath each step.
There was no entrance to the city, only a transition of gravel in the outskirts to the ruins that stood above you and finally decayed buildings that leaned into each other.
Several of which collapsed under the strain and blocked streets with their carcasses.
The buildings themselves were covered in a thin layer of soot and rust, some partially deconstructed.
The unwanted materials teared out and thrown into the street.

While traveling you saw a few things that picked your interest, like a old rusted car that looked fairly modern,
the skyscrapers in the distance with some kind of jury rigged platforms connecting them and that despite all the ruble, some paths were cleared.
And by the tracks it was done recently, so there was at least a group of twelve moving around.
More confusingly, the footprints were of significantly different sizes.
Some looked like children’s footgear while one set was absurdly large.

[game of distortion: >>5215207 You wanted a space station right? ]
The group kept advancing, finally reaching their destination.
A crater so large you could barely see the other side, the surface was burned and the scattered ruins decorating the expanse didn’t match the city.
Jagged stone obelisks covered in runes were scattered across the place.

“Here it is, the possible site Qothos was shattered by the demon lord. Prepare yourselves, we are going in. “ The expedition leader exclaimed.

*Oh no* you thought to yourself, if the group started walking in such an open space it would be very easy to spot you from the rim of the crater.
And with the little cover this place had you would be sitting ducks, counting that they would even bother to stop you from going inside and not wait for you hidden in the buildings.

You looked at the group, Ghal seemed to have realize the same thing, while Ihlist didn’t care and just stayed a bit closer to the dwarven mercenaries.

What will you do? [Roll 1d20 Bo3]

all images of undead are a bitch becouse by the magic principles of this world, zombies and the like are not posible.
Dead matter can hold aberrance but aberrance cannot hold sentience.
so that is going to have to be a very important dead person.

I think we should cast an illusion of ourselves and Ghal to accompany the group so we don't have to go into the obvious meat grinder.
Now, would medium range spells reach the center of the crater from the edge?

I dont know I think thats all of it. I need my coffee though.

How much would it cost to fit soul batteries into our battle axe, and how many batteries could we fit in it? Would it be possible to install some anti-theft precaution in out weapon? Maybe make it out of tyr or spriggan like wood stuff so it's kinda alive?

Rot eaters are cursed humans, not undead.
they are alive in a sense.

>>5216414

>and how many batteries could we fit in it?
as many as you can stand, as there will be a weight penalty.

>Would it be possible to install some anti-theft precaution in out weapon?
probably not, I havent thought of a good way of doing it.

>Maybe make it out of tyr or spriggan like wood stuff so it's kinda alive?
A soul eating weapon thats alive?
Like potato but braindead and a sword? With enough resources Flora clould make one.
.
But the best part is that this is the kind of stuff humans did, it’s good to know i predicted human behavior correctly.
This is what led the humans to transform Ghal into a file cabinet. How useful and convenient it is.
>>
>>5216451
>Like potato but braindead and a sword? With enough resources Flora clould make one.
depends on what the resources are
do we have to lobotomize a living being for this?
if so then I don't think it'd win a vote
>>
>>5216457
I'd still be down for making a soul eating weapon. Spriggans are by nature and construction soul sucking monsters who gradually need more abberance to sustain themselves, ergo eat people. Weather it's their fault or not, ya gotta kill em. Maybe not right now, but definitely when they get too old where they're a detriment to everyone.

>Follow, but be sure to prioritize protecting Ghal and Ilhist.
>Cast illusion magic on yourself. (minor visual illusion, 1 aberrance)

You stayed behind with Ghal, the priest casting some shield spell and entering.
You decided to cast a spell of your own, a minor illusion to blur the general shape around you.
You would not be invisible, but it would be easier to mistake you for a rock.

You would have cover Ihlist, but she had gotten so close to the mercenaries that it would have not matter.
You talk a bit about the situation with Ghal, you both agree this fuckers are overconfident.
And it probably has to do with the fact they are not very bright, but why bring them here if that was the case?
You cannot understand it, so you concentrate on the surroundings.
It’s a barren place, and the stone pillars look familiar but you don’t know from where.
The other pieces of ruins are pearly while structures with metallic veins, fragments of something larger.

[Group stealth roll: 19 + 5 (bonus- open field + magic) DC: 16 + ? Result: ?]

You look out into the edge of the crater, if someone has spotted you it would be impossible to know.
After a few minutes of walking, the group reaches the center.
after a step the slope descends abruptly.
In the center of the crater, partially buried under the ground, is a cluster of pillars and a piece of the hollow structure.

The leaders seem disappointed with the result, but still give the order to descend.
You lost sight of the city when you enter the hole.
And with a revelation you decided to keep your mouth shut in the descend, because you finally recognized what the hell this was.
They were lunar shards, similar to the ones you saw in your visions when you emerged from the bunker.

There was a single gigantic fragment the size of a small house and its interior, covered with carved pictograms.
Something the religious eggheads loved, but you found suspicious.
The mercenaries stood guard outside while the rest entered the rock.
As you inspected, you were bothered by the idea that someone had carved this.
The crater was a clear sign that it had crashed into this place.
So how did it survive the impact, and where did it come from?
Who had carved those images clearly in a humanoid way?
Did this mean someone had carved the stone after it crashed into the city?

You were going to ask out loud when the stone changed shape in front of your eyes.
As if someone drew in the sand, it formed an English word, "Quiet."
You looked around but nobody else saw it.
When you looked again they were gone.

What will you do?
>Exit the structure, investigate the surroundings.
>Ignore the message, ask your questions.

This is small enough I can do it quickly.

>Ask "why" to the rock.
You are stunned for a second, a rock spoke to you.
So you step outside to take a fresh breath of air, giving you a bit of time to think what to do.
You decide to talk back to the rock, what could go wrong.
You move away from the sight of the mercs and write in the ground a “Why?”
You wait for a couple of second until the smooth surface creates new words.
“They will free me. Help their endeavor, Human.”

You were going to keep asking questions when the priestly lot emerged from the structure.
“This is a monument to lies! Damn demons and all their works.”
He points at one of the mercenaries “Take you warhammers or anything of use and destroy this place. I want no rock standing!”
The mercenaries looked at each other, unsure if he is being serious.
His continued barking of orders set them to work, and while the pearly white stone did not sufer a single scrach,
the stone pillars cracked a bit more with each hit.

What will you do? [Roll 1d20 Bo3]

You aproach the leader of the team and try to convince them of your point.

"If we start breaking it, it will cause noise, and if a chimera force or any other monsters decides to attack us from the top of the of the hole, we will be without cover, without a way to retreat.
Maybe come back when we have more manpower to work with, or instead use explosives with long fuses. Being in close proximity to demon artifacts when they break open could be dangerous. What if there are dark energies here?"

[Roll 17 + 7 +3 (argument) DC 20 Result: Success]

The priest considered for a moment, and in a second of lucidity he came back to his senses.
He ordered everyone to stop.
“If we die here, we might not find the fragments of Qorthos. That is unacceptable. This place will burn later.”

You left the crater without incident, but the priest still insisted that there had to be a fragment of their god in this city.
So they traced a new path on the map and resume the dangerous endeavor of traveling through the city.

- Fedora; (-1 to speech, +1 to corporality) [EQUIPED]
>A protected reliquary (>>5215431)

The sun was at its highest point when you left the crater far behind.
And the streets you passed through were in no better condition than before.
Random destruction and semi deconstructed buildings.
Luckily you found a store that had been preserved.
The food and clothing had gone to waste, but a fedora had managed to survive with only a couple of holes in the brim.
Made it seem cooler.

You put it on and enjoyed goofing around for a while
"Is it a rancher's hat or something?" asked one of the elves.
You decided not to explain it.
> Fedora [EQUIPED] : Confirm?

Your little distraction managed to lift the spirits of the group, since the almost absolute silence of the streets did not help.
You had the impression of being followed, but every time you turned around there was nothing.
The mercenaries assured you that it was normal.
So you continued climbing mountains of rubble and avoiding clouds of smoke that had taken over some streets.
No one was sure what it was and no one wanted to risk it.

The priests followed you in a meandering and almost random way through the streets.
Occasionally casting some guidance spell to confirm direction.
After a couple of attempts you reached the destination.
A cluster of welded iron in the shape of a flower about to bloom.
It was in the middle of an area of collapsed buildings with a small path to the door.
There was a slight murmur in the group.

The leader of the expedition raised his voice
"Here lies an artifact." He turned to the mercenaries "Secure the ground, there seems to be no traps but better safe than sorry."
You and the others did a light inspection of the ground, you found nothing except stones.
This gave you a little time to poke around.

Two of the eggheads were inspecting the structure while another tried to open the door.
it was electronic with a curious mixture of circuits and runes.
The entire mechanism was operated from a button.
Seeing you look, the rune-crafter explained to you what he had learned.
"It goes with a timer and you can't try to open until that time,
But I don't know when that will be."

>Confirming fedora

I'll leave the game to smarter anons who aren't on moble.

As far as incorporating memes goes, I don't think you're being a dick. If chainswords don't work in this setting, it is what it is. We can always find and dick around with a nonfunctional replica if it comes down to it.
>>
>>5220239
Something worth noting about this is that it seems to deactivate or activate a chimera with the Signal function. Not even sure if 1.chimera even properly sets X to a chimera but its best to be safe and comment out the code that turns it on.
>>
>>5220253
seems like its supposed to open the door for 5 minutes upon pressing the button at 6:00 PM then close it after that. It seems to always be running the code afterwards apparently though so the only reason a chimera might not have activated is because of the while loop preventing it from executing.
I'm not really sure how the hell the variable declaration is going on and opencount seems kinda pointless from what I can tell.
>>
>>5220239
Confirm the Fedora.
Also I don't know shit about programing, so I can't really help.
I have not even done the Hello World bit.
>>5220241
Having a fake katana would honestly make the meme even better. We don't even need to use it, just carry it around as a joke that no-one else understands
>>
>>5220258
Could we try to remove the 18:00 requirement as well, so we only need to press the button?
>>
>>5220277
Yeah thats my intent with rewriting it. Not really sure what the hell its doing with data types though since Open doesn't seem like a boolean that a String would have.

import time;

d = "Door";
d.Open = false;
while (true)
{
X = 1.chimera;
Signal( “Off” ; X);
User = int(input(1 OR 0)); //Press the button
if (User == 1)
{
if (d.Open == false)
{
d.Open = true;
print(“Opening”);
}
else
{
d.Open = false;
print(“Closing”);
}
}
}
>>
>>5220277
Also, maybe we should increase the timer just in case we need more than just 5 minutes.
>>
>>5220280
Why even have the timer? Just check for the button input being 1 (pressed?) and open/close it accordingly.
>>
>>5220278
Oh, you removed the timer althougher, that's even better.
>>
>>5220283
My first instinct was trying to do it with the fewer changes as possible for some reason.
I will now blame it on puzzles in videogames having a move limit instead of me being a brainlet.
>>
heres my attempt at it, I have no clue what the data types are for some of the stuff here or why Open is a boolean of d (which is a regular String that is just "Door" from what I can tell) but some anon smarter than me can prob figure it out.

updated the code to check if the button has been released before executing the code since I forgot to do that. No clue on the previous issues I brought up, maybe ask the runecrafter but he probably is clueless about it.

Yes

I think we should leave the door locked and come back to open it later so we get to keep everything.

>>5220278
Oh no
>>
>>5220320
If we want to keep the door closed, it'd probably be as simple as just adding a bunch of random shitcode like division by zero and assigning things to the wrong data types. If you really want to fuck with the dudes trying to open the door, replace the semicolons with greek question marks so nobody can tell what the fuck is causing the code to not work.
We probably could use one of our spells or have Hildra bust the door open later but the chimera has me somewhat worried since theres no way of knowing if its active or not.
I'd say if we want to keep it closed, try to deactivate the chimera with the signal code and remove the rest of it so they don't get themselves killed unless thats the plan
>>
>>5220239
>Try to fix the door or leave it closed.
Can we do both? Think of the solution to repairing the door, but come back for it later when the expedition is gone?

>>5220335
>replace the semicolons with greek question marks so nobody can tell what the fuck is causing the code to not work.
lmao this. We should save a copy of the code incase we fubar it too hard so we don't completely lock ourselves out later.
>>
also, since this code seemingly implies that a chimera can be deactivated/activated by just calling Signal( “Off” ; chimeraVar)/Signal( “On” ; chimeraVar) on them, it'd be worthwhile to see if we could code a spell that lets us fire a signal at them to turn them on/off at will.
The potential for us to weaponize a chimera with that is really tempting.

>Fix it but add some garbage code so it does not open.

You made some heavy modifications to the code to make it work.
You had to rewrite in a couple of times but you got a version you were satisfied with.
And then you removed the semicolons at the start of the code.
Its was just greed that made you do it, not wanting to share whatever was inside.
You could sneak here in the future and have it all for yourself.

The rune-crafter that sat beside you, he could not understand what the hell you were doing.
You pressed the button and nothing happened.
The elf tried to comfort you.
“I don’t know what you were trying to do, but don’t worry, its normal to not get how this works.”

When the leader of the expedition came back, disappointed that the door was still closed.
“We must retrieve the artifact, so we breach the shrine.”
On shit.

All the elves, including you, were ordered to pour mana into a rune they had drawn into the metal.
You pretended to give, but it did not made a difference since three of them were giving their all.
[Roll 6 +6;DC 18 ; Result: Half damage]
[Damage;( 6 +8)/2 = 7
Breach point = 12

The spell was not very effective, some type of corrosive magic that rusted the first layer of iron.
Leaving the rest intact.
It left them exhausted and resulted in a hole the size of a tennis ball being made.
Then something emerged from it and shot one of the egg heads.

[Roll 15 + 5 ; DC 17 + 0 (Lose bonus by surprise) ; Result: success]
[4 damage, damn, god must really be protecting them.]

A blast of acid hit one of them square in the chest , and he somehow survived!
The chimera inside tried to hit more people, but with an order of retreat from the leader the group quickly got out of range.

The incident had made the leaders more cautious, and with their exhaustion and the sun on descent, they considered what to do.

I give it maybe a week or something before the chimeras clean up the rubble and proceed as usual again.

And if that's no good, than maybe how the world works, we know the Tyr have an emperor woth an inquisition, and the elfs have an clan oligarchic republic, but about the dwarfs? Are there other ssentient races? Other minor nations? How many gods there are and how their churches are structured, things like that. After mending the wounds that one of the elves had received, they decided on a new path.
One moving away from the busiest areas of the city, following the trail of buildings less damaged by the war and the inhabitants of the city.
And yet you found only ruins.
the most intact houses only contained rotten furniture and objects too rusty to be identifiable.
The runecrafter elf stayed looking inside some houses longer than the rest.
so you decided to ask him.

"There are frames but no photos, they had time to run away. It's not what I expected."
"Anything else you've seen?" You asked him
"Some loose details, look at that furniture. Too small, it has to be for kobolds."
"This wasn't just a city of hum... demons."
"Strange to think about it, isn't it?"

During the journey, Ihlist also found something inside one of the buildings.
The remains of a campfire, cold but not yet dusty.
so they was from this week at least.
The footprint marks pointed that they were Tyr.
Why? the leaders weren't sure, though the mercenaries joked that the Empire had sent them to try to get the artifacts before you did.
Theis numbers was around six people.
Something to have in mind.

The expedition continued until you finally found something of interest.
A gigantic shingle building that had been relatively well preserved.
The leader decided it was worth investigating.
before entering he gave you time to read the dirty sign at the entrance.
"Internal Revenue Service"
*uh, they really are everywhere* you thought to yourself

The interior of the building was worn.
Bare walls and uneven floors.
there were three paths, up the stairs, to the cafeteria and to what looked like cubicles but were too worn.
the biggest surprise was finding a worker at the reception.
It was just a robotic torso with two arms and a camera for a head, but he waved.
"Greetings, do you have an appointment?"
The leader of the expedition was the first to speak.
"What kind of demon contraption are you?"
"Automatic receptionist number 38."
>>
The priest suggested asking questions, but did not get good answers.
just a bunch of requests for him to fill in forms.

The only time the machine took its attention away from him was when one of the mercenaries started walking towards the cubicles.
"Sorry, you can't walk in without an appointment. If you persist I'll have to alert the authorities."
"But if there is, there is nothing." She complained
"Sorry, you can't walk in without an appointment."
The priest intervened.
"Tell us where is your master abomination!"
"Contact protocol for: The administrator; Please identify yourself."
"Bishop Argus Jahm."
"Enter your citizenship number."
"I do not have one."
"If you want to apply your citizenship to our process you will have to apply form 2.1 to the Ministry of Borders and Immigration."

Big brain thinking time. There were genuine homes in the human capital. Not slave pens, HOMES, for kobolds. But then Ghal was a slave/experiment to humans. Time is... complicated,
the big spoiler about summoning is that is summons humans from one place and time.
as in, random people from Earth at a specific date, down to the second.
tecnically, every human ever summoned was brought "at the same time".
everyone was brought from the 1/6/22 at 13:30

still tinkering with the whole nomad society and how does their homelife work.
Its on the to do list.

apart from the "vanila" , giants and ferals?
in the other continent and port cities, but i dont know what they are.
maybe crab people? not relevant yet so i have no rush.

>Other minor nations?
The kobold conglomerate, one tyr nation in the south and a few elf secessionist ones in islands.

>How many gods there are and how their churches are structured, things like that.
are there very powerfull things in the untame wilds that sometimes gather worshipers? yes
are there other proper gods? no, not pure sons fo Gaia
all of these races know that they were created and by who.
so they have saints and maybe local minor dieties, but not true gods.
The why, you will need to ask a god or a civilitation that was made by Gaia.

>Try to get the robot alone and tell him you're human.
>Show him your documents from your wallet.
>Hack into the android. (to do what?)

You reached into your pocket and grasped your wallet.
You had been carrying it since the beginning, and while it could have been dangerous if someone found it now it proved useful.
So you just needed to get some time to speak with the android alone.
The mercenaries had gotten bored and wandered into the cafeteria.
And after letting the expedition leader tire himself out with the robot you proposed to him to try to sneak upstairs while you tried to distract it.

And when they were finally far enough you handed the android your documentation.
“Look, Can I get a speed meeting with the administrator? Or at least priority on the citizenship? I'm a new arrival from the human home after someone tried to summon and enslave me.”
The robot remained silent for a second, looking at your driver’s license and library card.

"If you want to apply your citizenship to our process you will have to apply form 2.1 to the Ministry of Borders and Immigration. But by Edict 121-A the administrator has been contacted, please expect a response in two weeks’ time. In the meantime please fill out papers 2.3 and 4.5, you will be given the documentation in cubicle C-16 inside, our employee Satur will accommodate you."
*Well fuck* almost, but bureaucracy stopped you.

At least you were given access to the cubicles.
Entering inside and finding the cubicle you were supposed to go you found a pile of bones resting over a table.
You asumed this was Satur.
The skull had an bullet hole and a rusted gun laid not far on the floor.

Unusable but the bullets seemed fine.
(gain 4 pistol ammunition )
You wondered what else you would find around here.

3- Long distance radio. (a bit bulky, but you can send and receive messages over large distances.)
4- A guitar and leather boots (not much to explain, the leather boots give +1 to movement related rolls)

After snooping around and finding a not a single other skeleton you decided this was enough.
Nothing more could be taken from here since all the paper work was too deteriorated.
You stepped outside and the android spoke to you.
"Greetings, you have been responded by the substitute administrator. Please await upstairs in conference room 2."
“ Who is he?” you asked
“Coronel Cedalion. Please await upstairs in conference room 2."

How do you plan on telling the group to do that?
or are you planing on staying behind and go solo.
>>
>>5222088
I dont know I didnt vote for fortifying. We can just go up there right now. Instead of fortifying anything we can just cast another illusion spell to sneak out.
>>
>>5222088
I suppose illusion will do, as >>5222097 said... But we could also tell them that the robot said a demon leader is on the way to speak with us.
>>
>>5222117
>to speak with us
That is, very suspicious? Would they not grow suspecious if we say that a demon leader wants to directly speak to us? Maybe we should say something like we fear a large number od demons are coming, and we'll stay to delay them. We can say some bullshit that we're good with illusions and sneaking and that we'll rendezvous later if we're not dead.
>>

>>5221956
>>5221960
I'm this anon by the way.
>>
>>5222124
To make it less suspecious, what we can do is destroy the door to the conference room so they cant close the door on us. We make ourself close to invisible in a corner or right next to the doorfram, while we make an illusion of us sitting in a chair. Preferable an illusion that's animated an can make noise. If things looks like they might turn sour we can quietly slip on by and leave. If this turns into a fire fight some flipped over tavled will do little to protect us since we lack higher end armor and a gun.
>>
>>5222130
Maybe we should see if we can prepare an extra exit on the room just in cae, like knock down a wall or break a window.
Just so we can escape without being funelled where they want us to go if shit goes down.
>>
>>5222137
If the window is on a second or third floor it might not be viable, and knocking down a wall will be noisy, in addition to be structurally hazardous depending on how much this place looks like its gonna fall apart.
>>
>>5221953
>Wait for him
If we get good enough at magic and learning tyr + spriggan anatomy, can we help restore Ghal to what he once was, in addition to giving him his eye.
If magic is incapable of doing that, can we try looking for a hospital, or asking the secretary bot for directions to one? Maybe we can give our friend eyes again.
>>
>>5222383
That would be nice. I support the train of thought.
>>
>>5222123
It may not be suspicious if we simply say the robot summoned a leader, without saying that he specifically wants to see us, or why.

By the time this guy arrives, we may have to blow our cover, but so be it..these guys got us where we needed to be.
>>
>>5222445
We can say we were curious and actually applied for citizenship like they offered.
The excuse is that we must have skipped to the front of the line due to being the only one left.
If we don't come back, then they can leave because it was a chimera that showed up instead of an office worker.
Actually, maybe we should take Ghal with us, he knows who we are.

We shouldnt 100% abandon the expedition, we wont get payed if we leave. What we need to do is go meet with the guy, talk a bit, and ask to see if we can schedule another meet up two weeks from now so we can settle our affairs and come back. The situation was complicated, if the chimeras came here and started asking for a human your cover would be blown.
But leaving meant not getting your answers until who knows when.
You asked the android in case you had a way out.
“hey, can we schedule the meeting for another day so we can settle our affairs?”
“Please await upstairs in conference room 2."
“How long till he arrives?”
“Please await upstairs in conference room 2."

Leaving the unhelpful android behind you quickly went to the expedition leader and told him some half truths about speaking to the robot and some “administrator” coming with many chimeras.
Your proposal was simple, get everyone far away and leave Ghal and yourself here to see what came and then escape without being seen.
Not the best way to sell it but there were no good ways to tell him.
>Roll 1d6

The leader calls for everyone and orders a retreat.
As the group prepares he approaches you and hands you the red flare.
“If you see yourself about to die or trapped use this, I won’t give you the green one since I expect you back at camp. Good luck and don’t confront them.”
Ihlist tells you to not drag Ghal into your suicidal plans.
He affirms he is needed here, so she tells both of you to fuck off.

So you began to work, setting up an illusion, invisibility and escape route.
The escape route was easy to set up thanks to the two entrances to the conference room
That leaves a straight line to a window in which you had placed a rope ladder to escapes to the alleyways.
You place Ghal there, making sure no soldiers block the path of retreat.
[5 aberrance spend, 4 from a battery]

10 minutes later the sounds of an engine could be heard echoing all around the ruins.
Marking the coronels arrival.
The sound stop and was soon replaced by heavy footsteps going up the stairs.
You hid with your spells far away from the entrance, leaving you decoy to whatever fate had planned for you.

(>>5215461, well, now prewar chimeras are a thing.)

A group of bulky monsters came flanking a spindly machine that resembled an upright spider.
The large creatures looked like chimeras, their armor was old and very damaged.
Two flanked the spider as he entered to conference room to face your illusion.

“Hello human, I’m Cedalion. I have come to collect you.” The spider said from a speaker
You responded in king and use a bit of magic to make the illusion talk.
“I expected a human, are there any left?” you said, with a bit of curiosity.
“No. You are the last.” even with his artificial voice he sounded sad when he said that.

“And what is your plan now?” Even this illusionary voice cracked with that question.
“Your preservation, you must be safeguarded until the war ends. Please come with us peacefully, you must be saved.”
He said, fully entering the room and positioning himself in front of your ilusion.

What will you do?

What are chimeras?
How come there are chimeras, but no more humans left?
There was a caravan of chimeras that were transporting dead bodies in a truck. For what purpose?
Do you hold animosity towards the native races of this work?
Had the remnants of humanity managed to achieve space flight or establish satellites?
What do you know about Gaia? I had a dream once about pillars in her keeping her "asleep". Something weird is going on.
What does my preservation and safeguarding entail exactly? Could that be put on hold for a time? I would like to get my affairs settled before coming back here.

>>5222893
>>5222899
The [Quest change: Skirmish game] option gives me the impression that he wants to help in some capacity. Like, we'll change from trying to help people into raising people, instead of Cedalion keeping us locked up on a room. I think.

>>5222914
>By the way you talk you sound like you are capable of thought instead of being just a war machine. Are other chimeras also capable of it?
Oh fuck uh. Let's keep this between ourselves and not bring up the fact we killed some chimeras.
>>
>>5223000
That's a fair point, we might be put into a command position inside a bunker, like what would happen with the goverment if there was a nuclear war.
>>
>>5223005
I dont even think, or haven't really considered the possibility that we'll be put into a position of power, rather than being a high valued V.I.P. they'll try to protect. Seems a beet far fetch really. We've been only here for less than a month, and Cedalion has been existing for significantly longer. If Cedalion isnt completely 100% subservient to all humans, new or old, and has some degree of ego to him than he'll want to keep control of his coronel status, or at least remain the main big boss of his faction. Not out of spite or greed or anything, but probably out of a sense of pride, or possibly because he doesnt think we're capable of leading them, yet? I don't know, it just seems really weird and out the left field to ask to be the boss of these guys immediately. If we had a say in the matter, I think it would be real swell if we could continue discussion over some snacks and rations we brought with us.
>>
>>5222914
You know what, let me change that past port about the rescue and instead ask another question.
>And what does that preservation that you are offering me mean? Unless you plan to extend my life, we have a time limit, and if you do, I would be losing part of what make me human anyway.
Because if he plans to do what they did to Ghal, that would suck, but if it means becoming the dark lord 2: humanity boogalo, than it wouldn't be so bad since we could order the chimeras not commit war crimes.
>>
>>5223018
Yeah, I also thought they would just freeze us to save humanity. But when you mentioned the transition to skirmsih, it would only made sense if we would be put in some sort of leadership role.
>>
>>5223019
>And what does that preservation that you are offering me mean?
That's good to ask, but the rest seem excessive, as in foot in mouth "how dare you Mr. Cedalion try to take away my humanity while you have yet to say you would do suck a thing." He hasnt stated anything like that happening. We can't nor should start throwing around accusations. We're better than those racist elves and tyr's from their churches.

>>5223022
In some capacity, yes. But this begs the question for the necessity for the skirmishes game. This brings back the mass of meat that was in the back of our recently acquired truck, and the encounter...
>A disassembly crew ending their shift.
I think OP explained it to us already and I've just forgotten, but the chimeras raid people to use them for parts and food or something, right?
>>
>>5222914
>support
>>
>>5223046
I meant it more of noting a flaw with the two only two ways their plan could go, to try and convince him to put more value on my sugestion to let us explore around, since if we just get put on a bunker as a VIP they will only have around 80 years to win their war, or extend our life using magic. Or maybe try to clone us, but thay one we haven't seem before so we don't even know if it's possible.
If it gave the impression it was an accusation maybe it would be better to rewrite it, put I can't think how.

Asking for confirmation on what the raids are how much they depend on them is a good question actually.
>>
>>5223000
Actually, all of these questions are good, specially on how much they know of the other sites and if they mantain comunication or control over them.

>“We have time and I have questions.” (What to ask?)

Before anything, you made your illusion drop its disguise.
“It’s been so long, since I have seen a uncorrupted human. Glad we could talk face to face.”

You had many serious questions for him but there was something that had occurred to you some time ago and you had to try it.
"If I'm the last human, does that mean I'm in charge? We should hold a general election. All in favor for me to be president?" You raise hand.
"Oh wow, one hundred percent voter turnout and I won in a landslide."
The coronel stood in silence.
“Mildly amusing and I think you didn’t mean it as a joke. But I understand you had to try, I would be disappointed if you didn’t.”
“Very serious aren’t you?”
“I’m the last protector of humanity, I have to.”

“Fine, serious talk then Cedalion, I need to know more. What are chimeras? What is the military council that took over?
How come there are chimeras, but no more humans left?” your illusion took an appropriate posture to the situation.
“Humans and their endless curiosity, but I guess you have earned the answers.
Chimeras are just biological machines grown for war or labor, nothing more nothing less.
The military council is the only branch of government that has survived, and its form by me and two other degenerates, all the others were defective.
They could not carry the burden of leadership so they went mad or terminated themselves.”
He stopped.

“You didn’t answer the last one.”
“Its… difficult, I failed my prime directive. I would prefer not to open old wounds, but chimeras stand because we have a true purpose and we could keep the birthing factories operatives.
Plus, we don’t die of old age.”

“What do you know of Gaia? Gaia wants me as a pawn, and her cultist already-“
“I must interrupt you, I know nothing of her, all information is blocked for higher authority officials.
My only experience with her has been her possessing a few of my soldiers that wandered to close to her crater and having to give the order to shoot them down.”
Well, that was a bit worrying since you were carrying a small fragment of her. But since it was very small it could do nothing.
>>
“Do you hold animosity towards the native races of this work?”
“Yes, a deep hatred distilled over centuries. Did you know we once had grass here?
345 years, 5 months and 3 days ago they turned our land into a wasteland in the hopes of starving us. I endure.”

“I plan to find a way to recuperate the land, recover lost technology and reactivate facilities.
I come here to the capital first so I could find out if there were others, and if not, more about the other sites? I found a map of a few human cities and research facilities.
I was summoned from the magical research one, but not living humans there. Have you kept in contact with the other cities/settlements?”

The chimera sighted with a deep electronic voice.
“the Hephaestus mine is still operational and we hold port Victoria. All others were destroyed by the enemy or ourselves so the tech would not fall on enemy hands.
The research station was a stated secret so I do not know its location.
And the city outside the continent has been deemed lost, I have no information on it.”

“I get the impression by the way you talk you sound like you are capable of thought instead of being just a war machine. Are other chimeras also capable of it?”
“No, I was created to be an officer. These ones around me are as intelligent as a dog, I'm alone. ”

And now came the difficult question.
“There was a caravan of chimeras that were transporting dead bodies in a truck. For what purpose?”
“Two, first is to feed my troops, the second is to feed the rot eaters.”
“WHY? You could use any other food source and why feed the rot eaters!? They are monsters!”
“Rot eaters are still human by my standards. We have them contained and I will not allow harm come to the remnants humanity.”
“But why feed them? They don’t need to.”
“They need little food. But I look at their suffering, they want to feed and this war is as just as any other. I won’t fail them twice.”
“And why not an alternative food source?”
“Petty revenge on my part, I will admit that.”

“Had humanity managed to achieve space flight or establish satellites?”
“No, we had some planes but magic proved very efficient in taking them down.”

“Is there an actual endpoint to your war? You have been fighting for centuries and if I’m lucky I will live 80 more years.
What does my preservation and safeguarding entail exactly? I have a disguise and have been trying to stop others from destroying the relics.
If I'm put in a gilded cage, we are going to continue a slow decline instead of having a chance to have a comeback.”

“I don’t believe I can win this war. But I will take revenge for humanity, no matter the cost.
When you come with us you will be brought to the Bastion. I would prefer to put you in crio-sleep but we can’t do that safely.
And other alternatives are no good, so I don’t have a plan. A new human was never part of the equation.”
>>
“Well, I would like to get my affairs settled before coming back here.
So work with me while I try to achieve my goals. Perhaps a radio or a way for us to coordinate?
If we can avoid the chimeras from attacking me, you can warn me of dangerous areas, or I can warn you of the expedition attempts, we can be more efficient.”

“I’m afraid I must refuse, now that we know they are in the area we will exterminate them.
We just need to find their camp, that way you will need to stay with us. You will be safe.”
“Dude, I got friends there.”
“Then you are force to work with me so they can be spared. I won’t lose another human, so please come out of hiding. I know I’m talking to an illusion, I just needed time to have the building surrounded.“

Well fuck.

I think that we should criticize Cedalion for his obvious incompetence.
In 345 years he could have rebuilt the city thrice over, yet it looks barely better than if it was left to rot. Even if the grounds were salted, he could have restored them. Even if the grounds couldn't be restored, he could have rebuilt elsewhere.
All so he could wallow on his own misery.
His only plan is to prove everyone that thinks humans are evil right, by trying to exterminate everyone, to then obviously fail and destroy all of human legacy.
True vengeance would be to rebuild, repair the world, and prosper more than everyone else, proving that human virtue is so supreme even whispers of it are above anything a crude empire could achieve.

Anon was forcefully taken from his world, separated from his parents, his friends, everyone and everything he knew and then was put into this horror show of a world and STILL hasn't given up. To live in an omnicidal empire of rubble and ash would be an insult to ALL of that, to us and humanity. As you said, true vengeance would be to prosper so much that everyone else looks like shit in comparison.
