Welcome to ASTHYIREA, a planet around an anomalously green star and with a moon that glows orange at night, itself producing its own light as well.
Since the last time it was introduce, ASTHYIREA has gone through some changes. Much of the water has disappeared, leaving behind more heavily sugary, and carbonated oceans. The soda-like oceans gave way to large pores in the planet, letting the creatures get access to caves and underwater aquafers, and the most water-drained bodies of water have become a syrup-like consistency.

How to play:
• Open an image of a species in MS Paint, or your image editor of choice.
• Make one evolutionary change to that species, though you can have multiple branches to a species in one image.
• Save as .PNG!
• Post your new species in the thread with a description of what evolution you've added and why.
• Please name your creature. If the creature is replacing its predecessor, it can keep its name, though if creating a new species, give it a new name. Makes it easier to keep track of.
• Details regarding a creature’s size or name are encouraged, but not required.
• Nothing too outlandish. Anything silly or derailing will not be considered a canon species 95% of the time.

Notes:
• Unless stated explicitly, no species is extinct, unless it's been replaced by a descendant. If two users posted an evo to the same base creature around the same time, they'll both be added, though one may get a name change.
• Try to make your evolutions gradual, it gives more options for speciation, even if this evogame is a bit soft.
• I'll provide an EvoWeb which will include the extant and extinct organisms semi-regularly. They take a bit of time so please be patient
• Expect a Random World Event at least once per thread to shake up the world and game.
• Have fun

New to the Game?:
• Don't be shy. If you have an idea for an organism and want to spend the time making it, please by all means do so.
• We also have a Discord to keep you up to date on EvoGame activities, and chat with other folks and myself. https://discord.gg/82nhT6f
• Just a note, while it doesn't matter how intertwined your organism is with the rest of the ecosystem, the more dependent it is on the existence of other creatures, the more potential your organism has to survive into future threads.

I'll post the rest of the information in subsequent posts.

By day the planet is bathed in the green light of its star, the skies turning a teal to pink gradient, and illuminating white sands, white rubble, and turquoise oceans.
By night the planet is illuminated by the orange glow of its moon, turning the oceans a deep maroon and giving an ashen complexion to the sand. The blue grid becomes apparent, and all of the statues become pink, also gaining a chromatic aberration effect, and those with faces get a glitchy censor bar over their eyes.

Here's the current cladogram. The image is a bit compressed due to size, but luckily, we have a archive of the old thread here, if you want to find any of the creatures shown: https://lws.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2022/5117226/

To help you guys with your evolutions, here's the font I use for everything and the current environments I have marked out as of now. We can expand on the typings as the game continues forwards.

And a small guide on making an evolution from an old evogame I was a part of.

As an addendum, feel free to share any vaporwave, or vaporwave-adjecent music or images on the discord linked above. Or in this thread if you don't have discord, but try to compress your message to avoid this just becoming /mu/

Happy evolving!

evolving from the inhoro
they hunt and survive by mimicking blocked characteristic around there body they induce the bar effect during night acting as disruptive camouflage and even complete camo in the right low light conditions blending in body parts completely
during the day they hide inside caves as jumbles of parts sometimes jostling awake quickly moving the most brightly colored part as a surprise tactic as a defense

Huh it grids all natural stones so strippes

evolving from the wedge clofi is the LANCER these cool guys origin is the fact a group of the clofi woke up a mindfreak while trying to eat it that then ran full speed out into the desert wastes until it died of exhaustion resulting in them getting hopelessly lost. this first generation had to adapt to the sweltering heat and lack of mindfreaks and open water sources by hiding in the sand trying not to die from heatstroke and waterloss with there dark colors only coming out in the middle of the night. they struggled on until they encountered a wounded wabush.
these cool fellas keep cool during the day under the sand digging down with there limbs they walk upon and too feed on wabush descendants they CHARGE running feeding appendage first penetrating the skin drinking in water and sap enjoying a cool drink even if they sometimes get hopelessly stuck

evolving from the tasty +COREc Coming NOW TO YOUR TIMELINE is the +HORctE or the posh fruit tree there fruits look like posh agitating predators that are less able to digest plant matter.
as a sideffect of sucking in soda that can be found in the ocean gas bubbles form and build up pressure inside the calloused pigmented shell of the fruit when a predator manages to puncture its shell if shaken enough they violently spray there seeds and juice in a foam of spray coating them with seeds for those that dont end up in guts

the banb may be small due to its roots being unable to transport water up but it fucking hurts as it waves in the wind wildly lashing lacerating flesh and cutting the stringy tosh hands off
>>

another ban variant is this flaky fella by having a central specialized central leaf the mineralized berries grows in square segments layered around the central strand .
the square pyramid bowl shape of the berries allows them to travel further by catching the wind when they break off and lightening there weight by increasing surface area while decreasing volume.
and too make it all whole is the fat root that cant really transport water just soaking it up like a sponge

The Syrupite measures millimeters in diameter as an egg and up to 3 inches across as an adult, typically bloblike in form with a penchant to "puff up". An entirely female clone colony species; the Syrupite is a sugar-based opportunistic parasite which thrives in syrup-heavy areas. Though it tolerates neutral areas, and is able to draw sugar compounds from the air, the Syrupite mainly feeds through attaching to a substrate that is rich in the compounds, and using its telltale "root", actually a modified foot-mouth, to attach to the organism or surface. When a host creature is unable to sever Syrupites from it's body, it has a high chance of a slow death, taking place over weeks. However, if it can access the Syrupite, there is likely nothing stopping it from eating a nutritious, sugary meal. When submerged in Syrup, Syrupites can be nearly impossible to detect visually, but a creature may start to notice it is being weighed down by adults Syrupites, which can weigh up to 1 ounce each, as well as feeling their energy being drained. On land, the species is noticeably wet and shiny looking, and tends to attract attention to itself easily. When Syrupites prosper in their habitat, they are known to partake in mitosis, the speed of the process depending on a few variables. They feed and reproduce most prolifically in the dusk-to-dawn times. The apex moment for their reproduction is known as the Sugar Bloom. Unfortunately, many species make quick work of the nigh-defenseless and nigh-immobile Syrupites, some species able to survive entirely off of Syrupite colonies, sometimes wiping them off entirely, causing their own population to swell, and consequently dwindle, when their main food supply is gone. Syrupites tend to die to quickly due to environmental pressures, but are observed to have a lifespan of 1 to 2 months in ideal conditions, 2 weeks being the time it takes for a baby to reach adulthood. It's wild population bursts leave many habitats in distress, trying to balance the sticky invaders with the nascent stasis of Asthyirea. Most notable is the method of mobility of the Syrupite: there is none. It just hopes to be taken by the wind or wave or travelling creature. Syrupites can move up to 1 meter per week on their own if needed, slowly rotating their sticky body over most surfaces, but they prefer to not expend energy on motion, as it takes away from their abilities to feed and reproduce.

pound dash variant breeds rarely working on a principle of being a rare predator making itself a outside of context issue where there are not enough of them to really cause a evolutionary pressure and even counter intuitive to evolve against them as they spend most of there time partially hibernating being just another part of the landscape but as there are so few of them they have a special focus on health where they pluck off any vegetation, stains, or creatures on them meticulously with there radial limbs
