It is cold and wet, where ever you might be, yet somehow it also burns. This slimy sensation is not a pleasant one for any sane person. Surrounding you is nothing but utter darkness and what feels like walls made of flesh, pulsating toward and away from you. Breathing feels nigh impossible in the thick air you're inhaling, and shortly after this realization, your consciousness fades. . .
--------------------------------------------------------------
Rules are simple
1. you get decisions to vote on | majority rule passes | tie-breakers work on seniority
2. actions require rolls | all rolls are d20 unless stated otherwise | action-decisions are marked as such
3. you die, you lose, quest over
--------------------------------------------------------------
You hear a familiar voice, asking you a simple question:

"WHO ARE YOU?"

>"I'm just a normal girl, but not like the others"
>"I'm a demilesbiangenderfluid...."
>"I'm just a normal guy"
>"I'm based, is what I am"

As you regain consciousness, you notice the scenery has changed. For one, you can breathe again, and the air here smells quite salty, fishy even. You're lying on a floor much harder than before, no soft, moving parts. While you do feel damp still, the burning sensation is gone.
Your eyes are yet closed, but people are talking around you, talking about you, until one of them decides to gently kick your head.

quick rundown of how democratic rolling works

you all make your roll
I take the arithmetic average
If it's between 5 and 16 I count the roll closest to the average
if it's 5 or below, I grab the lowest roll
if it's 16 or above, I grab the highest roll

After a bunch of kicking, the people around you notice that you don't respond in the slightest, you're seemingly not even taking a breath.
In your state of utter concentration to keep up the charade, you overhear one of them saying
"Well, more food for the fishes"
believing you to be genuinely dead.
after a little bit of a commotion following this statement, at least two of them grab you by your head and feet, carrying you someplace else.
The smell of salt and fish persists.

After ensuring you have been presumed dead, you finally let down your guard enough to consider rising. You get up and take a closer look at the scenery around you.
While it felt like it before, it would be fairly safe to assume that you are in some kind of storage room.
There's some crates here and a couple of barrels, the fishy smell of the place could be in indicator of their contents, or it's just the place smelling like that in general.
The walls and floor alike, seem to be made out of wooden planks, and there's a lantern overhead.
Either way, you are up and about, ready to do something, anything, really.

You search around, trying to pry open some of the containers you see before you. Starting with the crates, they turn out to be a mixed bag, you can't open half of them, and the others are empty.
You move onto the Barrels and find you can open them with ease, their lids have convenient handles.
Looking inside, you find nothing but fish, embedded in salt.
Touching a few of them, it appears they're raw, probably all of them.
You don't know what you were expecting, and close the containers again.

You look around the room for a bit, and sure enough, opposite side of the crates, practically behind you, was a door this whole time.
You enter, or rather exit the door, finding yourself on the outside. Fresh, salty air, a clear blue sky and more wooden floor.
You're probably on some sort of ship, just what kind you don't know.
A tanned stickfigure with some funny clothes on, spots you and screams their ... lungs?...out, jumping overboard, panicked.

You hold out your arms and place your right hand above your left.
With a quick gesture you apparently "remove" the tip of your left index finger from your hand and shortly after place it back where it belongs.

After being so helpful, you return the favor and ask the mate what you could do to help him.
He hands you the mop and points you to the bucket next to him. "You can do this."
You accept the task given to you and proceed to clean the deck for the remainder of the journey.

Partway through, one of the sailors shares his tack with you, another gives you his almost empty rum bottle, there's maybe a sip and a half in there still.

Before long, you arrive at the port town, you didn't really get a good look at it, since you were focusing on the floor, but now you're off-ship and a friendly sailor proudly introduces you to his home town.

"Well, Mr Fish Meal, we's here at last. This be Malkun, me hometown. Port ain't much to look at, but once you's inside the the walls, you'll never want to leave, that is if you can find the gates, haha. Don't get lost, Mr."

(sorry for the delay, work killed me)

Since you're new to the place, you figure it's a good idea to just explore for a bit. This is just the port after all.
Walking around, you notice just how busy the place is, there are more docks than you can count, and more flamboyantly dressed people than just the two from earlier. Aside from that, the sheer mass of people going in and out of the place captures your attention as well. Thousands of people, going about their business in this gigantic port.
The port itself however, isn't much to look at, it's just a flat surface with docks on one side and a never-ending wall on the other.
Occasionally there's a small hut in front of a couple of docks, where people seem to wait in line for something, while carrying barrels and crates.
In such a busy place, you experience a cacophony of different conversations as you pass by.
A few of them seem so outlandish to you that you remember what little you could hear.
A conversation about a missing ghost.
A big burly man threatening people with flexes.
A little girl insisting she didn't destroy some place.
A crusade of some sort going on nearby.
A disease that makes you black.
And a revolution happening somewhere.
Okay that last one is pretty normal, actually, but you heard it a lot and weirdly, the ghost thing too.

Hooked by the ghost king story, you make your way into the city to learn more about him.
After locating the gate leading from the port to the inside, you find yourself in a deep darkness.
It's not just the gate house that's this dark, the whole city is.
The roofs of circular skyscrapers form a ceiling above the city, with only a small, continuous slit of daylight shining through, along the middle of the street.
The residents all seem to avoid direct contact with daylight, safe for one person dressed like those sailors.
Come to think of it, humans don't have long, pointy ears like those people. Maybe that's why they stay out of the sun?

In any case, this place looks pretty bleak, and not just for the fact it's dark in here.

Based as you are, your first instinct is to approach the f*male for information, surely all that overthinking and jumping to conclusions helps her with collecting gossip and the like.
As you approach however, the ambient noise around you gets quieter, or so it seems at least.
With every step, the conversation between the w*man and her better is getting louder and clearer, they are definitely yelling at each other.
Upon your arrival, the last line you hear is "well, then I'll get myself a 'fuck buddy' too, asshole!"
You approach her casually, and as she takes notice of your presence, grabs your arm and says "hey, Sailor Boy, you ever did it with an Ash Elf?" with a mix of seductiveness and malice.

the man stares daggers at you for your willingness to participate, the f*male meanwhile, gives him a smug grimace in response.

"oh is that what we're doing now, yeah, bitch?"
the agitated man takes off his shirt and gets into a fighting stance
"I'll show you a 'good' husband"
the woman eeks and hides behind you
"hey, protect me, sailor boy! you're strong, right?"

a small crowd has already formed around the scene and the people up in the windows are whistling and jeering in anticipation of a fight.

While they lift you up in celebration, the girl that cowered behind you at the start of the this brawl, is now tending to her man, who you've kicked unconscious.

You approach the unconscious man, as you do the woman, squatting by his side, looks up at you and says "Hey Sailor Boy, I'm sorry to say this now, but I didn't actually want to....ya know, it was just a heat of the moment thing I-"
you raise your hand in a silencing gesture, and give her a slow blink with a minute nod. Picking up the body of her husband, you ask where to take him; She guides you to one of those skyscrapers, just a few minute's walk from here.
She opens the door and walks up to a door-sized hole in the wall, in which appears to be an extremely slow elevator that never stops.
You wonder whether this contraption is entirely mechanical or if these people know electricity.
In any case, you enter the elevator with her, and after a 5 minute ride, you reach the 8th floor.
Here, the elf lady opens the right-most door and waves you inside.
"The bed is on the left side, you can put him down there."
Which is precisely what you do.
You watch as she walks over to what looks like a kitchen, and starts pumping water into a bucket.
She carries the bucket to the bed, along with a pewter cup and a piece of cloth.
You standby and watch as she wets the cloth and puts it on his forehead.
Out of courtesy, you ask if there's anything else you can do before leaving.
"You could open the window and stay for a while"
As requested, you open the window, giving you the opportunity to get a good look at the streets down below. You take a seat afterward and wait for the husband to awaken.

A few hours pass, and the light of the sun in the middle of the street is no longer there.
The woman has fallen asleep on the bedside.
In this time, what little damage you had taken during the fight, has healed.

Upon the elf man's regaining of consciousness, he appears far more amicable than he did before. He wakes his woman and together they come to the table to announce that, for dragging you into their domestic conflict, they'll cook you a good meal as an apology.

You take a bite of the spinach thing, and despite its looks, it tastes like fruit salad.

The man picks up from there "It's the biggest city in the world, I guess."
"But what about Fredricksburg?" his wife interjects.
"When's the last time you've seen someone FROM fredricksburg?"
"That's easy uh....I...actually...never...huh"
"Yeah, that's why they don't count. So uh... yeah Malkun is pretty big"
"How big?" you ask
"Well, far as I'm aware, entire kingdoms have fewer people than this city."
"That's pretty big" you say
"Yeah, and look at us, all crammed up in these tower dwellings, I hate it here."
"Told you we should have stayed in the desert." his wife quips
"Very funny."

"Does the whole city look like this?" you ask
"Oh no" the woman replies "that's just where us normal folk live, the rich and the nobles have most of the city for themselves."
"Yeah, rent there is so obscene, they wage over apartments." the man adds
"Aside from this, we don't really know much. she continues "we've only moved in recently when the war back home got out of hand."
"I wish father made it too" the man sobs.
"Don't worry, we'll be able to go back soon" she consoles him
"Go back where?" you blurt out
"Underground?" she says, confused
"Underground?" you ask
"Oh you're not from the isles, Sailor Boy?"
"I'm not a sailor"
"But your uniform"
"A sailor gave me his spare pants"
"Why would he do that?"
"I didn't have anything else"
"Oh you poor thi-"
"So, what are you, an addict, a vagabond?"
You blank on the question and shrug, you frankly don't know what you are.
You explain that you've simply woken up on a ship the other day and haven't slept since

You ask it what that means exactly, but receive no answer. You introspect to find your own answer, what does being a man of god mean?

You shake your head, of course you've got nothing else to do, so you let Bylon guide you to a library.
Instead of waiting in the elevator, the two of you take the stairs winding around the elevator shaft. Once outside, you follow the street ahead. While it winds many times, you only turn right once, then to the left, across an open space, and to the right again. After that, you simply continue to follow the road along until you reach another, smaller, open space and are greeted by a large triangular building.

"This is it, that's the nearest library. Have fun while you're there."

You push open the enormous doors to enter, once inside you are met with towers upon towers of books, conveniently accessible with ladders, stairs and bridges.

You begin your search by trying to locate the section about contemporary events, politics and the like. While searching for that, you happen upon a chance find in a section titled "Mystery and Folklore", a book that mentions a Ghost Warrior, that sounds related enough.
Upon locating several sections about contemporary going-ons, a thick book within the "Recent History" tower strikes you, this one outright mentions the Ghost King on the cover, it's heavy, but you'll deal with it for now.
Now that you've reached "Contemporary & Politics" you sift through heaps of trash, political treatises, poetry, news articles, shit that nobody reads.
You almost gave up hope, but in the end, you found another book relating to your interests, this one is an interview apparently. While, yes, this is the kind of trash you just went through, it relates to a Lich who is a King, and that sounds like what you're looking for.

With your entire day ahead of you still, you decide to tackle the big bad history book right in front of you.
As you begin to read, you're starting to realize just what you've gotten yourself into here.
It starts in the middle of a series of events you find no relation to, which apparently happened in the preceding century, great.
The first real thing that happens "on its own" as it were, is the reign of a Fredrick XIV.
This Fredrick fellow rules from a place called Fredricksburg, you think you've heard that one before. He did a bunch of boring nerd shit, like taxes and struggling against the clergy. The only cool thing here was something about personally beating the shit out of an entire noble family called the "Mancers" and appropriating their land.

Then he died after like 12 years of doing nothing, and his son took his place one Fredrick XV. Very creative naming system, you have to say.
Fredrick XV isn't much better, actually he's worse, that guy is Stalin levels of retarded. All of this would be a lot more engaging to read if everyone was a maniacal tyrant like that guy.
Turns out he was such a shit ruler, that a big city called "Kuthgirt" just went independent one day and did something that sounds like communism.
Then Malkun, that's this place, if you remember correctly, went independent due to a sailor revolt.
So Fredrick XV brings his army from Fredricksburg to the mainland of his kingdom, to shit on the peasant army in Kuthgirt.
This backfires on him hilariously, to the point that a city called "Xerguthnoba" goes independent, along with the entire eastern quarter of the kingdom, because all the manpower he just wasted, was from there apparently.
After his army ate shit and his Kingdom broke apart even further, the governments in Xerguthnoba, Kuthgirt and Malkun joined a coalition to oust Fredrick XV from Cocoon island, where Fredricksburg is apparently located.
With Fredrick XV exiled, Cocoon became part of the Kingdom of Xerguthim.under a man called Ferdinand of Thylliso
The "Ashlands" - whatever that is - became part of the Kuthgirt Peasant's Republic, which was lead by some Horatio Guntherson
The rest of the Island became part of the Republic of Malkun, ruled by Baldwin II Adonicing

You'd think there'd be peace after this, but no, apparently a Lich showed up in the desert one day and started mind-controlling a bunch of Skeletons that were already there for some reason. Then he used them to build a city out in bumfuck nowhere and the government in Malkun kinda got pissy at his existence, which ya know, fair enough, it's a Lich.
So the Lich gathered his army and sieged down Malkun and appears to be the first person to have successfully won a land battle against the city in 2000 years, which was reason enough for them to surrender.

CUT
>>
CONT

Now you'd think an undead monster would slaughter the shit out of a city like that, but no, he didn't, he actually wrote them a list of demands and they accepted unconditionally.
With that, the Ghost King and his undead army carved out a kingdom for themselves entirely located within the desert, where nobody lives.
Following a decade of peace however, the Republic of Malkun collapsed in on itself when the rest of the country realized that they were separated from their capital by the Ghost Kingdom.
Malkun couldn't really do shit about either, since at the time, Fredrick XV came back with an army from the Empire - where ever that might be - and laid siege to Malkun from the sea.
The other countries really couldn't give less of a shit about a city so far away from the rest of civilization, that the only other entity they could ask for help, was the Ghost King.
And he came, he actually came and repelled the imperial army, killed Fredrick XV and became the official owner of the city.
All the towns that just got their independence from Malkun, as well as Kuthgirt and Xerguthim didn't enjoy the fact that there was a motherfucking Zombie nigga, ruling living people.
So they formed a coalition and attacked the Ghost Kingdom.
As you might expect from a SKELETON ARMY, they kinda won that one. You'd think they did it with sheer numbers, but no, according to this book, it's because the undead were working together with uh...haunted armors and weapons...?
This reads like a shitpost, but it's a history book...
But it looks like the Ghost King then conquered the isles, and turned out to be the best king they had in generations.
Must be a fucked up society if a Lich is considered a good king.

Well, this is certainly a start of sorts.

You feel exhausted after such a long read, though you were not able to tell how long ago this "17th century" was.
At least you now have an idea of what the Ghost King is and a vague sense of where to look for him, should you want to meet him.

[Tie breaker pick]
You get up and go outside, only to find it already night again. Having no actual place to stay, you decide the best course of action is to just talk to random people, maybe they can point you to an inn.
Though it looks like there's not a lot of people around here. You go to the right to see if there's any activity there, but as you turn the corner, there's a river.
It appears quite the sizable river as well, the island in front of you almost reaches the horizon, at the edge of which, the city appears to continue.
You look to the left and to the right. The right side is blocked by a building, the left side, seems to have a street.
You notice that is is significantly brighter here than previously, it appears that this close to the river, there are no overhanging roofs blocking sun- and moonlight.
Shortly after this revelation, a dark-skinned man shambles toward you.

Intimidated by the man's sickly appearance and feral behavior, you turn tail and run away.
Though you stumble and hurt your face, earning you a bleeding nose, you just barely manage to leave that thing behind.

You are back at the library door, last time, you went to the right, coming outside. This time, you go to the left, into the jungle of buildings.
Back in the darkness of the roof shadows, you finally encounter another person.
This elf seems to be homeless, and drunk, though you don't know whether he's belligerent or not.

You ask the homeless elf whether he's ever seen a black person before. He then nonchalantly points you to a corpse with its stomach torn open.
"Ya first time seein' rotgut?"
you ask what on earth that is
"Is when ya become all black, like that guy, ah heard the pain kills ya mind before the body. And when ya body dies, yer gut 'splodes, just like that."
After this terrifying explanation of what was going on back there, you inform the elf that there was one of these black people trying to attack you just a moment ago.
"Right." he says, before getting off the ground.
He puts his hands to his mouth and yells
"PLAGUE, PLAGUE."

Soon, the people in earshot scrambled toward their homes, leaving the streets completely empty.
The elf grabs you by the wrist and drags you somewhere, mumbling something about a shelter.

Despite the initial pull, you voluntarily follow the hobo along the labyrinthine streets to a narrow passage between two buildings, one of which sticks out back, nearly covering the backside of a third. Behind this protrusion, the hobo enters a trapdoor, revealing a stone stairway, leading directly under the building.
Once at the bottom of the stairs, there is a sharp turn to the left and a small, but dark, corridor, leading into a large, well-lit chamber, full of people sitting on bunk beds and gathered around something resembling a fireplace.
"Ah brought a new one"
the crowd cheers, and the hobo lets go of your hand.
After a series of handshakes, you are assigned a bed and invited to the...camp...fire? the middle thing.

As you sit down at the middle-thing with the others, the one sat next to you tells you about the place.

"...and it's been 'round for like a thousand years already."
"Really? how come nobody has found it yet?"
"ah they found it couple o' times, and every time they did, it just up and leaves to another place."
"So how do you keep finding it?"
"It tells us, right 'ere" he points to his head and proceeds to explain that, if the chamber likes you enough, you will be guided there as well in your time of need.
He then asks you a couple of questions, mostly about your sailor get up. You tell him the story of how you got here, and these pants, though it is a rather concise story, he seems nonetheless captivated by the prospect of simply springing into existence in an unspecified location.
When he puts it that way, it sounds like you are some manner of summoned entity, like a demon.
"Well, s'you a demon?"
"Uuuuuuh......"

you blank on the question
you really shouldn't, you're human, right?
....right?

"Ah don't sweat it, Mr Demon, ah'm half elf mahself."

"I'm a quarter gnome" a hobo chimes in
"Mah dad's an orc" one says from across the room
"And I'm half dragon"
"We know, Ted" the other hobos retort
"Oh yeah? Well...did I ever tell you how my mom-"
" -fucked a dragon, yes" the hobos interrupt, in unison.
Ted looks sad....well as sad as a dragon-thing can look.

After a meager, but not-gross meal, the light vanishes.
You ask the hobos what that means, and they tell you that the chamber has gone to sleep, and you should do the same, don't wanna be rude to the magical entity and make noise while it sleeps, right?

You follow the advice of the hobos and crawl into bed. Once there, you whisper to your bunk mate above, asking whether the chamber is alive.
"I don't know...probably" he says, before telling you to stop talking.
"Alright" you say, before closing your eyes.
As you enter the realm of dreams, you feel the words of the chatty hobo ringing through your head. Why couldn't you answer such an obvious question? It's not like those other times, where you legitimately didn't know. Or so you think to yourself.

A familiar voice repeats the words to you
"WELL S'YOU A DEMON?"
silence returns to your mind

>Sure, why not.

the hobos also don't know what that is, since apparently those things are rare, Ted explains how they are real-life angels, kinda the opposite of a Tiefling - whatever that is - and how they are full of holy power.
"Hey, Ted, how do you know all of that?"

The hobos seem pretty convinced that you are however, despite the air of skepticism around them.
As you put your hands on the loudest of the hobos, to get him to quiet down a little bit, the gentle nature of your intent has caused you to involuntarily imbue him with power, curing his hangover.

He expresses amazement at your display of miracles.
Now the hobos are definitely sold on your holiness, they accept you, without a shadow of a doubt, as a legitimate Aasimar.

After this whole ordeal, you share a meal with the hobos at the...let's just call it a stove.

You say goodbye to the hobos and exit the chamber, leaving through the long corridor you came from.
Once outside, you imagine an old man bowing to you, this is not something you did voluntarily, he just appeared before your mind's eye like that.
You slap yourself to make sure you're not hallucinating, the man laughs and disappears from your imagination.

You wander through the streets, looking for the library. Though you don't know the way from where you are at, you have a vague idea.
Before long, you find and enter the enormous gates of the library.

"Ah, Father Josh, welcome ba-..."
The receptionist stares at you in disbelief as you approach his desk.
"Were you always an Aasimar?"
"No." you reply
"Do you mind if I see for myself how that happened?"
"Yes, I do."

You open the book only to be greeted by empty pages. You squint really hard at it and the contents of the book slowly come into view. A text written in pure gold.
Though you cannot read this bizarre script.

"What's wrong, can't read it?" he taunts.

With an indignant look on his face, he comes closer to you and says "Wait, you can actually see the words?"

"Yes, I am the 'okay'-est my faith permits me to be."
"You don't sound very convincing."
"Please, do not press this further."
"Okay, can I get a book now?"
".......Yes, of course."

He brings you an encyclopedia of gods and pantheons, this does include the standard religions, he points out.
But this is the least-biased basic guide to the isles' alien religions, according to him.

You give him an approving nod and pick up the encyclopedia.
As he grabs the weird book and wants to put it away, you stop him and tell him to leave it there.
He seems appeased by this gesture and wishes you well in your studies, before returning to the reception desk.

This encyclopedia contains a great many number of gods, and it appears as though there is no coherent faith in the world. There is a great many number of entities commonly recognized as gods, more than half of which appear to be of a disposition most would call "evil".
The worship of these gods seems to be an individual basis, whereas the pantheon of revered gods is culturally dependent, and an individual then chooses to channel most of their faith unto a single, primary deity of their choice.
This is all quite convoluted.
Though a few local religions in places you know nothing about, appear to be more coherent, but their gods in turn are not accepted as deities. They are considered fake or aspects of existing gods, at worst, and powerful mortals at best.

The gods of the butterfly isles, which is where you are located right now, appear to fall into the latter category - powerful mortals who lived once, for sure, but are now long gone.
The locals of course, disagree with this notion.

The isles appear to be monotheistic, with two conflicting faiths, each denouncing the other as harbingers of doom.

The dominant faith of the surface - whatever that means - is the worship of Garx.
Followers of Garx believe in justice and order, and live to preserve the status-quo. They view Pukka as their analogue to a devil, the polar opposite of Garx.

The dominant faith in the bowels - whatever that means - is the worship of Pukka.
Followers of Pukka believe in freedom and perseverance, and live to challenge tyranny. They view Garx as their analogue to the devil, the polar opposite of Pukka.

Under the forceful peace between the two for the past centuries, a third Religion had emerged, mainly among human worshipers of Garx, who push for a duo-theistic interpretation of their relationship.
These people, often referred to as Reconciliationists, believe Garx to be a blind preserver of order, prone to tyranny in excess, and Pukka to be a blind bringer of freedom, prone to destruction in excess. They live to be moderate in all aspects of life, as to not entice either deity to tip the scales.

While Reconciliationism is popular among humans of the isles, the rift between Garx and Pukka remains in its majority elven population.

You put the encyclopedia down and make your way to the receptionist, with a couple of questions on your mind.
You ask what's up with this weird antagonism between these two gods.
Much like the encyclopedia, he tells you about the reconciliationists and how the Ghost King's intervention in regional politics, has effectively put an end to open hostilities between the two.
Though, now that he's gone, who knows how long it will take before they're at each other's throats again.
All of this, he claims, is exacerbated by the fact that, due to the prolonged peace, many Sun and Ash elves have started to occupy shared spaces, which they previously didn't.
You ask him why they hate it each other so much.
He explains that it stems from some event in a past so distant, that not even his god remembers.
"Frankly, this kind of knowledge is beyond my mortal grasp. But..." he thinks for a moment "I could help you piece it together, IF I had the necessary pieces of the puzzle" He points to the door, with his thumb. "Have you seen the inscriptions on the door before?"
"Yes" you reply
"They're a poor attempt at ancient tropical elf magic.
"Tropical....elf?"
"Yes, that's what we call the ancestors of the Sun and Ash elves. We don't know what they called themselves, unfortunately. They spoke a language that is now extinct and can only be found in the scraps of their civilization's ruins."

"Finding the old city is pretty easy, just keep heading south, or I suppose, if you exit the library, to the right of you. As for the hospital, just ask a few people to point you there, I don't think there's anyone in the city who hasn't been there in the last few weeks since the Rotgut outbreak."

Following his instructions, you make your way toward the Hospital, by asking strangers on the street for its location.
One of them points you across the river without elaborating further.
Following along the shoreline for as long as you can, you are eventually back under the city's roof.
You follow the direction of the river, even though it is no longer on view, and find yourself at a dead-end in an alley way.
There's a pair of humans intensely focused on playing backgammon, while surrounded by children frolicking and play fighting.
You turn back and notice that the street forked where you entered the alley, and simply go the other way, trying hard to stick to the side of the buildings along which the river should be flowing.
After a while, you've noticed that you are on the other side of the buildings now, meaning you went in a circle, but also, you're in a completely different place, while walking forward the entire time.
However, the river is visible again in the distance.
You arrive at the river once more, this time there's a bridge across.
You cross it and notice that the roof of this part of town hangs significantly lower, meaning the buildings are a lot shorter.
It also becomes quite apparent, that the people walking around here, are better dressed than the folks you've seen so far.
You also notice a pair of extravagantly, no, flamboyantly dressed people, surrounded by people in armor, taking up the entire street.

The obviously looking aristocrats might either be offended by us talking to them or get in the way for us being an assimmar or something like that

You ask some rando where you are, and after a minute of trying to process you being half naked and having wings, they tell you you're in Malkun.
A facepalm later, you inform them that you know what city you're in, and reiterate your question.
Thinking on it a little, the rando can't give you a concise answer, but informs you that the market place is around here.

You have a distinct feeling that this is about as good as it gets, and leave it at that.

I'd rather try with someone else.

You ask the rando if he can point you to the hospital, to which he appears to react.
He promptly returns the question, asking you to specify which Hospital you're referring to.
With a hint of defeated disdain, you tell him that you mean the ancient one.
Once again, he'd like to know *which one* since it appears there are multiple.
About to burst an artery, you tell him that you want to go to the ancient hospital on this side of the river, the one where all the poor people go.
"Oh that shithole? why didn't you say so?"
he gives you an autisticly accurate description of the fastest route to the hospital.

After a couple of turns, one left, one right, you walk past what appears to be an enormous market place, another turn to the left and another turn to the right, and all the straight forward in between, a large building, distinctly different in style and color, has come into view along the shore.

You approach it and stare.

(this is the last post for this thread, post will continue in the next thread, see you in a couple days)
