Sixteen men, plucked from their narratives. Thrown into a corner of the mistake of architecture and magic that is Gongalla Gaol by forces unknown to them.Sixteen men enter alive...Only one shall exit as a winner!(Hello and welcome to the hopefully annual contest that showcases some of /qst/'s range of characters, let us hope it will be entertaining, at least.)
>>5090023Our brave contestants, doomed as they are:>Rondo von MetzelerA man of honor, courage, and integrity; who rebelled against his own family to keep his morals; a man who stayed strong in the face of debilitating physical and mental trauma. Gallant, level-headed, unyielding, sharp, courteous, and an excellent swordsman.
>>5090025>LierenHis words, poetry; his heart, gold. Kind towards humanity, and would bring it to prosperity no matter how many enemies he needs to hang.
>>5090030>Jocko MuckfaceBest described as a retarded, hideous bum, covered completely in filth and bodily fluids. Does he have a heart of gold? No, he'll shank you for a sandwich. On the plus side, his retardation and lack of ambition makes him loyal and low-maintenance.
>>5090035>AdministratorAn amnesiac, hopeless wreck of a man who is also bound to his duty. Loves coffee, paperwork, and leaks acidic black tar from his body.
>>5090038>Quattro del PettoHe has no style, he has no grace, this competitor has a funny face-Oops, wrong text. Well, this alcoholic skeleton knows his kung-fu, and despite suffering the low of the lows, he's still loyal to his friends, to the end. Always chill in the face of adversity.
>>5090041>Hotspur/Eric MillerA brash teenage hothead delivering some two-fisted justice on the mean streets of Chicago. But with an alcoholic dad and a troubled home life, balancing responsibilities as a superhero and home life is difficult. He tries hard to be a good friend and a good student, and a decent athlete in his school's basketball team - but seeing the ugly side of humanity every night can bring one to the brink of a mental breakdown.
>>5090043>John MartinsA former lab technician turned coporate superhero, he will not hesitate to put others before himself, even at his own detriment. Cares very dearly for his siblings, despite having no clue what they're doing behind his back.
>>5090046>BossA robot who once lead a gang of other robots, but had a change of heart and detonated them all. He seeks a way to transfer his consciousness into a real body. Also a bit of a showoff.
>>5090048>Emille AndreiA pious knight with more sense of right and wrong than survival instincts, a man whose foolish ego had led him into a regrettable duel, but also guided his principles towards the peasantry. Somewhat of a chick magnet, despite him not being the sharpest knife in socializing or politics. Will have the back of his friends and allies in the pit, even if it meant destruction. His shield is as lethal as any sword.
>>5090049>Kinja DuolianAn eugenically perfected yet reclutant supreme ruler, he was initially passed over for leadership - but still he became an expert filmmaker and his world's richest monke. Pragmatic but merciful, brilliant and charismatic. His exploits include successfully leading his civilization into a golden age, averting a race war with a racy propaganda film, and then marrying the super-monke actress of that film later in life.
>>5090050>GilHe's mostly confused and in a shitty beetle situation, and that's before this tournament. Now, he's even more confused than ever. Will he survive this? We just don't know.
>>5090053>Boris PonderosaHighschool heartthrob, star quarterback, and also savior of the Skeleton Apocalypse! Despite an injury that ended his football career, he bounced back and entered the Good Boy Doggie Bone sanitation team. He is a dyed-in-the-wool leader and a true protagonist.
>>5090054>The MessengerA man of the cloth, merchant of advanced pharmaceuticals, the true successor to the Papal throne! Definitely not a warlord of a meth cult, nope. Selfless and brave, he leads a crusade to bring the glory of his religion in a desolated continent.
>>5090056>Edwin of EngelA wealthy and jobless son of a storehouse company owner, he is an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and sadly inept, self-taught student of the arcane arts. A nerdy boytoy, rumor has it that he has a big dick.
>>5090058>ThingThe youngest of our contender, a true survivalist whose savagery is held in check by his (its?) regard for life. Technically could be a male.
>>5090061>Ungluck the God of EvilHe might have been all-powerful, but in this unhallowed ground, he is as mortal as his fellow competitors. Let's see how he'll guile his way out of this one, hm?
>>5090070Goddamnit, forgot the pic.>>5090067Thank you for the bump and poster count!
>>5090038>nearly 5 1/4 ftUhh, I forgot to add that he's at least 7 ft tall as well (probably bigger). Oops.

>>5090072STAGE ONE: HUNGER GAMESAnd thusly introduced, our sixteen contestants enter a circular coliseum. In the center, five weapon caches lie buried just under the surface, helpfully marked as such - but what they don't know is that there are traps, hidden and unmarked, scattered about the arena.>HOW THIS WORKSThis is /qst/, and we don't do simple grabs of popularity here. When you vote for your chosen contestant, also roll 1d100 - we will tally all of the roll results made in the name of a contestant, and that will determine how they fared in the current stage.**rules may change per stage, but rolling is required. And with that out of the way,>VOTE>AND>ROLL!

Alright, since the voting's lulled, it's time to gather 'round the proverbial fire and gimme some of that sweet, sweet lore. I'll start off with a question:>What's the toughest thing your contestant could fight and win against?
>>5090821Had an ultra bitch wife. Just the worst.
>>5090821>What's the toughest thing the Messenger could fight and win against?Martin Luther.
>>5090821For Ungluck, he could beat and kill pretty much anything, mortals, gods, unholy monsters and giant autistic space robots. The only time he was truly defeated was when he tried to overthrow his dad, the Demiurge. But it's all good, that battle was a non canon simulation made as a joke by said Demiurge. For my own OC, the Thing, at the moment it could stand toe to toe with a squad of well armed and trained soldiers, and anything it kill and eats or Communes with he gains their adaptations and mutations, as well as absorbing their "soul" into his own mindhive. So theoretically, if he could even just lick up the blood of a god or say, a Primarch, he would gain their abilities and mutations/adaptations, which basically means that the tougher things he kills and eats, the stronger he becomes so he can kill and eat more things to become stronger and so on into fleshy infinity. Just don't hit him with a flamethrower.
dice+1d100Kinja DuolianI really wish I knew what character belongs to what quest.
>>5090827>can become ultra infinite flesh god>still cannot develop fire retardance to save his pitiful biomassI suppose his retardance is of a different sort, innit?
>>5090821>What's the toughest thing Edwin of Engel could fight and win against? His big titty waifu, a Reptilian Infiltrator with knowledge, combat and magical prowess, and a succubus that eats the souls of her victims. He'd accomplish this by giving her some puppy dog eyes. Big dick not required (though very useful).

>>5090821>What's the toughest thing the Administrator could fight and win against? The literal embodiment of Nothing, to which his forced repeated exposure cause an anomalous reaction in his body, which is causing an immune response of acidic black tar to leak from his body. And he kept going back in that cell because someone had to do it.
>>5090855A job is a job. Bound by Duty.
>>5090821>What's the toughest thing Quattro del Petto could fight and win against?>winLol, he can't even fight himself and win.
>>5090821>What's the toughest thing your contestant could fight and win against? In theory, Gil could win against about any normal moderate-sized creature by biting out their eyes and clogging their nose and throat until they suffocate. In practice, he's not quite psychologically prepared to do this... if he has to be involved in combat at all, he'd much rather play a support role. His sense of self-preservation (or impolitely his cowardice) is too strong to pick fights unless it's a desperate situation. >what do you mean "biting out their eyes and clogging their nose and throat" he looks like this >>5090053That's his weird robot skin suit. >>5090821>What's the toughest thing your Lieren could fight and win against?Shit I don't know yet man. Dude is only ten or some years old now. He got his ass rolled on by Be'lakor, but to be fair to him he was the first Chaos undivided daemon prince. My big china man is at least good enough to crunch greater daemons and demon champions. He used to handle some of the more dangerous anomalies before becoming what he is today (up and including fighting a giant tree beast spreading throughout the whole facility with nothing but molotovs), so he's used to fighting things way stronger and way bigger than him.
>>5090339Yeah, but I (>>5090325) meant the fact my IP is changing :>
The gates of voting are closing, rataplan, rataplan.Tallying and counting now. It seems using the average method is better and fairer than just a total tally.
>>5090821Well it goes without saying that if anyone can take down the nefarious lich holding Clearwater, California hostage, it's BORIS PONDEROSA. Having already taken down the nefarious skeleton pirate Captain Mendoza with his bare hands along with countless other bony baddies, the real question to ask here is what CAN'T he win against? This is a man who has killed all doubts--a man who keeps getting back up even in the rare case he gets knocked down! Even with a career-ending injury, Boris bounced back, damn it, and using the magical mask bestowed upon him and the help of his stalwart allies Curt and Bea, there's no mountain this font of confidence can't move!Dude totally lifts, too.

>>5091401Quattro you actual fucking loser dingus how could you be this bad.
>>5091401The quarterfinal stage, Red Light Green Light, starts in about 12 hours while the survivors recuperate. >counting the average result as the winning result>10 votes / rolls for one character averaging 50 would still lose against a single vote / roll for a different character that scored higherOh boy, I sense a shitstorm coming
>>5091410>□ Set a number to roll against, count the number of times the roll passes (roll over)Incentivizes more votes while still keeping it somewhat random.
>>5091410>mechanicsI'll take some time to think on this one. I still think average should be considered here cause if a player gets a lot of votes and gets critfail while someone gets like a bunch of 85<x tier votes, then you know that the guy that rolled a lot of crits is the loser.>>5091411Shitstorm indeed.
>>5091410>Best of 3 per competitorThis current method is actually detrimental to people rolling for the character they want to win. Lieren for example had the overwhelmingly largest vote share, which caused him to lose because his average was lower than some of the other characters who was only voted for two or three times. The current system gives advantages to less popular characters since there are less rolls to dilute the average dice roll if you manage a high roll.>Set a number to roll against, count the number of times the roll passes (roll over)>Use the roll tally method (vote + roll, sort by sum of roll result)These two incentivices samefaggotry because the more people roll, the higher the chance of passing the neccessary check to win.Best of 3 and then combining that with the voteshare to determine a winner is probably the least bad system.
Yeah, taking an average of votes is a really bad idea. It just means the least popular character with the best roll wins.
>>5091401>□ Set a number to roll against, count the number of times the roll passes (roll over)Otherwise it's just a poll. This option however still makes more votes = more chances.I'm just happy Gil got further than Charlotte because that's a gonna be some good art fuel.
>>5091422Just require people to use the same IDs, or linkback.> Implying people haven't alrrady samefagged.TBF the averaging did make samefagging actually worse for the character, if anyone samefagged the last vote.
>>5091429It didn't just make samefagging worse, it made voting worse. A character with 1 vote passed and a character with 8 votes didn't.
>>5091401Thank God Lieren lost, now I don't have to have another bookmarked thread to keep checking.Good luck to Boris though, Bones Quest is based.

Poor Quattro, I would have voted for you if I didn't know for a fact you would job again.>>5091440What if it were the sum of the votes for a character divided by the total votes for all characters. That way if one character gets a lucky roll, it still gets affected by characters with more votes.
>>5091517Guess you'll have to read and find out, anon. :^) Glad you're reading the archives, though--no small feat there!>>5091440The unholy triumvirate of Boris, Gil, and Ungluck will not be stopped
>>5091433People could have not rolled if they had a good enough number.
>>5091454Not gonna lie, I'm shocked either of em' made it past round one. Can't say I'm not pleasantly surprised. Also good crap how strong was Boris' stone mask again?! Must be very strong if he was going toe-to-toe with John and I cannot wait until he kills the next two skele-bosses and Tim as is his true destiny.I would imagine John would find Stan no different than handling a very rabidthirstyraccoon, but I don't even think his mutation would prepare him for an encounter with the unholy being that is Stan. Dammit now I have to draw something hopefully before this tournament ends.
>>5091531This seems mathematical.
>>5090821>What's the toughest thing your contestant could fight and win against?Probably his own coding which makes him go schizo mode sometimes. For something actually physical, he could probably handle anything that can't pierce through his metal exoskeleton, but even if he had no chance of winning against something he'd still act like a cocky asshole and go all out.

A nostalgic, heart-rending sunset. "To survive this stage, you simply just have to reach this boundariment near me. Caveat, you must absolutely not move when I turn my head like this, else suffer the consequences. A word cautionwise: this room is not so keen on the exactitude of its dimensions, so it may seem that this is a short distance you have to traverse. Wait for the horn to begin, please."All the while, the sunset burns with longing.>HOW THIS STAGE WORKSPick a contestant you root for, and roll. Best of 3 rolls per contestant will be compared against the average of the rolls I'm making in this post. Four contestants will proceed, and four contestants will fall...And the horn blows! >>5096726Our finalists have a traditional staredown, the all-encompassing silence broken only by the soft crackling of Boss' sword and the slow drip of Administrator's rapier. Time seem to freeze into eternities here at The Fingers...But then! In a sparkling explosion, Boss propels himself into the air! Utilizing directed blasts behind his sword, he aims to launch an aerial vertical slice! The Administrator's rapier moves fluidly, and the darkness of the deep ceiling seem to flow with him...
>>5096779And there! A singular strike! The Administrator's rapier flows across the air, narrowly dodging Boss' blow and simulaneously delivers a counter-attack!
