Welcome back.

Rules are simple: Votes are tallied every hour, with whatever course of action being the most popular being the course of action taken. Write ins are encouraged and non-mutually exclusive votes will be combined if possible.

When a roll is called for, roll a D100 unless otherwise specified.

For a short summary for the new and to recap:

You are Alex. A newly minted trainer and camping enthusiast just starting out on your journey at the age of Seventeen after your father lost his job in order to help pay the bills.

Last time, you made it to Newport City, encountered Team Green and defeated the local Gym Leader, Ethan. On your way to Lake Clarity however, you encountered Mike again, who has set up a roadblock and toll booth.

"We're not battling you. We'd wreck your shit so hard, it's not funny." You hear Martha say slowly, as if to a particularly dim child. "We're not paying this phony fee either. So, either get out of our way, or get ready to get bent into a pretzle."

"Sure, sure. Now pay up. Twenty bucks each now." Mike dismisses, before sitting straighter and grinning evilly as he spies you and your group. "Well, well. Welcome to my toll booth, faggot." He says mockingly, striding arrogantly past Martha and pushing Judy out of his way, using the shove as an excuse to grope her on his way to shove you.

Not really.
Let's just keep the high ground on him both morally and legally while pissing him of into taking action against us and then flooring him regardless.

On an unrelated note, I might add 'miniature\cold cyclone' to my table of potentially dangerous weather. Because while it was fucking terrifying to wake up to at 5.30 in the morning, it'd make for a neat 'encounter'. Especially after the way everyone handled the rainstorm.

You side-step Mike's attempt to push you and walk through his shitty roadblock without a backward glance.

"If you don't give him the time of day, he'll give up and go away." You say, addressing the girls as you look back.

Mike looks like he's about to pop a vein.

"You can't just-" He splutters as everyone follows your lead.

"I just did, Mike." You reply. "Either stop acting like a smartass child or go home." You add, before turning your back on him. "C'mon. Road's not getting any shorter wasting time on this dickhead." Youadd.

"Don't you turn your back on me!" Mike says. "Coward!"

"Whatever." You reply, waving a hand dismissively, not looking back.

Mike stares at you as you walk away, growing redder and redder, before he gives an incoherent yell and runs at your back.

You fall back on training, checking your shoulder, then sidestep Mike's wild swing, turning it into a wind-up for a kick in response.

You catch him in the guts with a round-house kick square in the guts while he's off balance and there's an audible 'oof' as you knock the breath out of him. He collapses like a house of cards gasping for breath and clutching his midriff, before curling into a ball with a pathetic groan.

You watch him to make sure he doesn't try anything stupid for a minute as the others look on, before you turn and walk away.

Your response stunned Mike and you get the impression he just, finally, learnt an important lesson he should've picked up on years ago.

"C'mon." You say to everyone, turning your back on him. "Let's go."

You start on your way while Kathryn stays back, releasing an Alakazam to psychically dismantle the roadblock and checkpoint before she hurries to catch up.

"So, how did things go in Newport?" Martha asks curiously.

"I beat Ethan." You say.

"Pay up." Judy says, nudging Martha smugly.

Martha just rolls her eyes as she pulls out her trainer card and transfers money to apparently everyone else.

"Last time I take a long shot." She grumbles as Judy drifts back to begin chatting with Holly.

"And this is Holly." You add as Holly is immediately overwhelmed by Judy's energy as she is made friends with.

"Hi." She manages, giving a little wave before returning to answering what questions of Judy's she can, although once the discussion turns to fashion, she finds her feet and the conversation becomes an actual conversation rather than one way.

"So, are you coming hiking with us, or are you going to just be staying the night on the way to Silveridge Town?" Kathryn asks.

You've been giving this some thought.

From the point of view of training and catching some more pokemon it's a good idea, especially with Jean, Kathryn, Martha and Judy around. At the same time, you have to wonder about Fie getting back to her Gym.

"I made a couple of calls while you were getting your head stitched up." Fie says pointedly when you look her way. "Emma's fine covering for the time being." She smiles wryly. You get the impression she had a bit more to say on the subject with regards to her 'covering' for Fie, but it's neither here nor there.

"I'm not missing out on that hike for all the money in the world." You reply. "It's always been on the to-do list, but I've never had the opportunity." You admit.

"Um... h-how far around is the lake?" Holly asks, sounding faint at the proposition of all that walking.

"Two or three days." Martha says, unconcerned.

Holly looks alarmed at this.

"Don't worry, if you get tired, we've got members of our teams who you can ride on." Judy assures.

Holly sighs in relief.

"You'll get used to all the walking eventually." Martha says. "Just stick with it." She adds.

"If you say so..." Holly says.

It's cloudy today, but it doesn't look like the weather is going to turn bad, so there's no reason to hurry along.

Sd you walk, you decide to check your pokedex to see what sort of pokemon can be found at the lake. Once again, it's frustratingly undifferentiated, but at least in this case you can tell what you can probably expect to find where:

Magikarp
Oddish
Basculin
Cottonee
Feebas
Buizel
Applin
Poliwag
Cherubi
Tympole
Clauncher
Psyduck
Taillow
Pidgey
Lotad
Starly
Swablu
Gyarados
Milotic

There're also unconfirmed reports of legendary pokemon being seen at the lake, though the few photos provided are blurry and indistinct.

Still, by the looks of it you should be able to fill a lot of gaps in your team if the list of pokemon found at the lake is anything to go by and there's also a note attached to the unconfirmed sightings of a reward for any conclusive proof as to the presence of any legendaries.

"Is there anything you think I should catch at the lake?" Holly asks you.

>That's up to you.

Applin and Lotad are cool, too. But again, all up to her at the end of the day.

>>
>>5042968
>>5042974
>>5042982

"Ultimately, that's up to you." You say. "But, if you want my opinion, out of this list, Swablu and Feebas would be the go." You opine. "Personally, I'm hoping to find a Clauncher. Feebas and Swablu are on the list as well, but I kind of want a Clauncher."

"Why those two?" Holly asks.

"Because if you care for a Feebas properly, they evolve into Milotic." You reply. "As for Swablu, they love cleaning up. Also they like to pretend they're hats." You add.

"You're joking." Holly accuses.

"Nope, they really do." Judy chimes in, fishing out her own pokedex and bringing up some pictures of herself, much younger, with a Swablu perched on her head as she laughed and grinned.

"Huh..." Holly says as she studies the picture.

"Applin or Lotad wouldn't be bad either." You note as Judy puts her pokedex away.

"Or Cherubi." Judy adds.

"I guess I'll have to see what we find." Holly says, looking thoughtful.

It's getting on towards mid day now and the clouds aren't showing any sign of breaking just yet, but it's nice enough.

You decide to train Sage, first and foremost. You've barely spent any time with her, but a quick glance in the pokedex shows she's not far off evolving already and she can learn some pretty decent moves.

She would've been a big help in Newport Gym as well if Rusty had've somehow not been able to cut it.

Only question is, what to train her on?

If you weren't in the middle of grassland like this, you'd probably go for Flame Charge first, but as it stands, Psybeam seems like the more prudent choice.

Both so you don't go starting a fire and because there's no reason not to get a head start on the psychic training.

You find a good sized rock and set it up as a target, then release Sage.

"You'd better not be thinking of doing any practice with fire moves." Martha notes as she sees what you're up to.

"Nope, Psybeam." You reply.

"Huh, alright let's see how you do." She says, sitting down to watch. Not patronisingly, but apparently with genuine interest in what you plan to do.

For now, we can try focusing on the outcome - visualize what one wants (shooting the rock), make it a reality, all that.

For future sessions, though, we could look into into how other people train both their aura and PSI abilities - I'm not sure how much they ultimately differ (both in the quest and actual canon), but I'd think they're both in the same general realm, and both sets of techniques could have use for our own aura training and any psychic training for our team.

You're struck by a sudden bout of stage fright and fumble for a moment as you realise you don't know how to put into words as esoteric an attack as Psybeam.

"Alright, Sage..." You begin. "Focus on your psychic power. Focus it into a single ray and direct it towards that rock." You say, indicating your makeshift target.

She looks up at you, not quite blankly, but she tilts her head in a manner that you think means she hasn't quite understood.

"...focus on thinking of that rock over there growing really, really hot like it was hit by a hot beam." You try after watching a couple of demonstration videos.

She blinks and nods, yips excitedly, then braces herself, glares at the rock and then her eyes flash and the rock is suddenly gone. In its place is a smoking crater and a psychedelic afterimage of a beam of energy.

"Holy shit..." You hear Martha breathe as she, like you, blinks spots out of her vision while Sage jumps excitedly.

"...Good job, Sage." You say weakly as you kneel down to pet her and congratulate her on the effort.

Martha stands up and returns with another rock.

"I don't think there's any worry in her having difficulty with this." She says. "But just to be sure, maybe get her to do it a few more times?" She suggests. "Just to make sure she can do it consistently and that wasn't a fluke."

"That's a good idea." You agree, before letting Sage go. "Same deal again, Psybeam on the rock." You order.

This time, Sage doesn't have to think so hard, she simply blasts the rock happily and then a third time when you ask her to do it again.

"Great work, Sage." You say, ruffling her ears again as she beams at you.

It's been all of five minutes and you're already making progress.

"Going to teach her anything else?" Martha asks.

>Yes, that was pretty easy, so maybe Flame Charge this time. That is, if you've got a water pokemon.

"Sure, if you don't mind helping me with a bit of training." He replies.

You keep at it for about half an hour with Gareth and Geodude and by the end of it, you're reasonably sure all Rusty needs to get Rock Polish down, is practice.

"Good job." You say, returning him.

"Lunch is ready." Holly calls, which more or less puts paid to any more training for the time being.

"Self-deprecation and being humble is a good trait to have, but don't belittle yourself." You say. "You've got a talent. Be proud of it." You tell her.

She squirms in embarrassment, still blushing but nods.

Once you're all finished eating, you pack up again and set off.

Lunch was actually interesting, from the perspective of getting to see what pokemon Jean, Judy, Kathryn and Martha have:

Asides from her Alakazam, Kathryn has a Lopunny and a Lucario, along with an Absol, an Arcanine and a Vaporeon.

Jean, as you expected given her interest in fossils, has a few Fossil pokemon with her. You recognise Aerodactyl, an Armaldo and Rampardos, though she also has an Inteleon, Bellossom and Salazzle as well.

Martha meanwhile, has a bit of a mix: She also has a Lucario, though much like herself, it seems to be a lot more stern than Kathryn's. She also has a Medicham. That's about where her team diverges from your expectations however, as she has a Sylveon and a Dragonair, which somehow don't fit your image of her. You took her for the sort who'd go for an all-Fighting team. Rounding things out, she's also got a Rapidash and a Swanna, which is somehow a lot more cutesy than you expected.

Finally, Judy's team is about what you were expecting: well-groomed, dressed up and with a very definite lean towards pokemon with a particular aesthetic: She has a Gardevoir and a Gallade, a Braviary, a Swoobat, an Altaria and a Sawsbuck.

After seeing their teams, you're very glad that they have a 'six-badges or no battle' rule, because any one of them would've taken you to the cleaners.

(Part 1)

"You okay, Alex?" Judy asks as you set off. "You're looking a bit pale." She notes after you've been walking for a little bit.

"It's no big deal. Just thinking about how hard you'd have taken me to the cleaners if I had've battled any of you." You explain.

She smiles sheepishly.

"Yeah, that's sort of why we made that rule." She admits. "There's no fun in just stomping all over inexperienced trainers and taking their money." She says. "You just feel like a bully. Some people do it anyway and don't care, but you can generally tell, because they're the dicks showing off you can spot a mile away." She explains.

"Thanks for the tip."

It's starting to clear a little now. You're not sure if Martha's Dragonair had anything to do with that, but the late-autumn sun is nice, so you're not complaining.

The road goes on ahead, straight and empty for a long way.

You don't see another soul until mid-afternoon and in that case, it's a farmer way off in the distance herding sheep.

"Arceus, that's a hard job." Martha says, shaking her head.

"Yeah." You agree, following her gaze.

You're distracted as you spot a Rufflet settling in a ghost gum not far distant and Martha follows your gaze, before looking to your arm.

"Got an admirer, huh?" She asks, with a note of surprise.

"Stalker, more like, by the looks of it." You reply.

"I wouldn't hold it against that Rufflet." She advises. "They normally sulk after getting beaten. That one must like you if it's following you."

"If you say so." You reply dubiously.

You keep an eye out for the next hour for any other pokemon.

You spy a Ducklett and a Spearow a way off in the grass, along with a Sandshrew and an Alolan Geodude in amongst a jumble of rocks off on the other side of the road towards the end of it.

The whole time though, Rufflet is never far out of sight, hopping from tree to tree or vantage to vantage, not even attempting to hide from you.

You sigh in defeat.

You really can't help but hand it to Rufflet: He's stubborn and committed. And you've got to admire that.

You wave to him and in short order, he's flapping along beside you excitedly.

"Huh, he really does like you." Martha observes.

"Aw, he's so earnest." Judy says as Rufflet beams at you.

"Alright, look." You say tiredly. "I'm still trying to make up my mind if I want to catch you or not, but if you're going to follow us and hang around, you might as well help out." You say. "So, if that idiot who was blocking the road comes anywhere near us again and we don't realise, you let us know."

Rufflet caws and nods enthusiastically.

"In exchange, you don't need to stalk me, you can just stick close and eat with us and whatnot."

The look Rufflet gives you is one of adoration, before he starts circling overhead.

"I wonder if he's had a trainer before?" Kathryn says, looking up at him.

"Maybe." Martha says. "He's sure got a lot more stamina than I'd expect out of a wild Rufflet."

"He understood that pretty readily as well." Jean agrees.

"I guess that's a question for some other time." You say, though you check your pokedex and it doesn't ping Rufflet as registered to anyone.

It's starting to get towards late afternoon now and a sign up ahead at a junction indicates that Lake Clarity is another hour's walk to the east.

"How're you doing, Holly?" You ask.

"You sure you're okay?" You press.

Holly nods again.

"Lunch helped." She replies.

You nod, accepting her answer as you continue on.

It's getting dark when you reach the camp grounds and it takes you a bit to find a site that isn't occupied. Evidently, people are here for the weekend.

Each campsite in the camping ground is clear and features a fire pit and a place to hook up electonics, which some people have used as an opportunity to set up big, portable lamps for their campsites, mini-fridges or other appliances.

There're a few trees in the middle of the campground, but from what you can make out in the gloom, they're very carefully managed and the campsites have been placed to account for them.

It feels good to be setting up camp again and once you've got your tent set up, you get the fire going in record time.

"Huh. You are good at this." Kathryn says, startled as you move on to helping Fie and Holly set up Fie's tent.

"That tent looks big enough for everyone." Judy adds, staring at it somewhat incredulously. Next to it, you abruptly realise that she's actually really short. You could probably sit her on your shoulders and carry her no problem.

"It'd be super-cramped. It's only supposed to be a six-man tent. And that's a theory rather than a fact." You reply as you finish with Fie's tent.

"If you want, I can handle the tents." You offer. "It's a good opportunity for Holly to get some practice in." You add.

"That's not a half-bad idea." Martha concedes, indicating for you to go ahead as the others gravitate towards the fire to start on dinner and set things up.

You spend the next ten minutes working with Holly to put the tents up. By the time you're done, you're confident she'll be able to do it herself in the future, though you make a mental note to keep tabs on her tomorrow night to make sure that she doesn't forget.

"You still up for some training?" You ask Gareth when you join the others around the fire.

"Absolutely." He confirms. "You got any ideas for what to train?" He asks.

"That's reasonable." You admit. "Do the Aura Guardians have any sort of shrine or relationships with the lakes?" You ask. "Or just the major caves?"

"There are shrines at the lakes." Gareth confrims. "There's meant to be one on an island in the middle of the lake here." He adds. "In memory of a Guardian who spent their whole life protecting the area and the Legendaries that are supposed to call this lake home."

"Huh. Might be worth checking out if we can find some way to the island." You say, before you both turn your attention to your respective dragons.

"Alright, Kay O-o, we're going to start work on Dragon Dance." You say, showing him the reference video you found. It actually reminds you a lot of Capoeira. It might be tricky to teach Kay O-o right now, but if you manage it, you think you might be able to wring some extra benefit from it, or maybe combo some other move into it.

That's in the future though. For now, you've got to teach Kay O-o the base move.

You keep at it for the better part of an hour while dinner cooks, going through the forms with Kay O-o. It's slow going, but by the time Holly announces that dinner is ready, you're satisfied that Kay O-o is making good progress towards learning Dragon Dance. It's making you feel energised as well. And strangely lucid and aware of your surroundings as well.

Gareth and Druddigon meanwhile aren't nearly as successful. You offer input where you can and he lets you know his own observations of your own training, but by the time you pause for dinner, he and Druddigon haven't made much progress.

"You and Kay O-o are doing really well." Gareth says as the two of you sit down to eat. "Also, do you feel okay?" He asks.

Gareth tilts his head and blinks.

"I should think so." He says. "Your aura is blazing right now."

"Really?" you ask, startled.

"I mean, it makes sense." Jean notes. "Dragon Dance increases the Speed and Attack of a pokemon, so if your aura is active and you were performing it that much, I guess it stands to reason that you'd see some effect from it."

"You up for doing push-ups?" Fie asks. "That'd be a good way to burn that energy off."

You shake your head.

"No, my arm is still healing." You reply as you focus on your meal and find to your complete lack of surprise that Holly's cooking remains excellent.

"What happened with your arm, anyway?" Martha asks curiously.

"Rufflet happened." You reply.

"Aaaah." Martha nods as the pieces fall into place for her. "That explains a lot." She admits.

You practically vibrate through the whole meal and when Gareth stands up and you go to join him and Jean, he holds up a hand.

"I think you'll be better served with keeping going with training with Kay O-o." He says. "He can help ground you. I'm not confident I could actually help you right now." He admits.

"No, go right ahead." You reply, indicating for her to come on over.

She nods and releases her Dragonair as she comes.

"Might as well take the opportunity to start Dragonair on Dragon Dance as well." She explains. "In exchange, we'll help you out with another move. Sound fair?" She asks.

You keep at it for a while more, demonstrating for Martha's Dragonair.

It's not long before Kay O-o is matching you step for step and soon enough, Dragonair seems to be getting the hang of it as well.

"You're pretty good at this." Martha admits after she's had Dragonair use Dragon Dance a few times by itself to confirm that it has indeed picked up the move to her satisfaction. "Anyway, guess it's our turn to demonstrate." She says, before indicating for you and Kay O-o to stand clear. "Dragonair, use Aqua Tail." She orders. "Nice and slow, so Kay O-o can watch." She adds.

Dragonair obliges and you and Kay O-o watch as Dragonair winds up, its tail glows a deep blue, then it whips its body and tail around.

"You still feel like a kid on red cordial?" Martha asks.

"No, training must've tired me out." You reply.

"Well, that's good." Martha says. "We should have plenty of time to do more of this while we hike around the lake." She says. "Dragonair and Kay O-o don't have much move overlap, but we can probably figure out something if you want to do this again." She adds.

"Yeah..." You yawn. "Kay's not the only one of my pokemon I couldstand to train more." You add.

"Well, in any case, night." Martha says, waving as she heads for her tent. "Don't let Fie keep you up." She adds with a wink.

She's gone before you can reply.

Left with nothing else to do, you head over to your tent to where Fie is standing she ushers you in, handing you the bottle of lotion, then shrugs out of her shirt, turns away and unhooks her bra before laying down on her sleeping bag.

"So, how'd training go?" She asks.

"Really well." You reply as you squeeze a good helping of lotion into your hands and start working it into her scars, taking the opportunity to practice the massage techniques Gareth showed you a little. You're not as firm as you could be, owing to how tired you feel just now, but with how Fie sighs in contentment, it seems you're doing something right. "Kay O-o's got Dragon Dance figured out and Martha taught him Aqua Tail in exchange for helping her with Dragon Dance." You explain.

"I thought you two might get along." Fie admits, with a yawn.

You're both quiet for a while as you work and Fie gradually grows more relaxed, to the point you think that maybe she's fallen asleep before she speaks again.

"If the others asked, would you do this for them?" Fie asks.

"Huh?" You ask, blinking as you realise you'd zoned out.

"Massage like this. Would you be cool doing this for Jean or Kathryn or the others?" Fie clarifies. "Not for scars or anything, just aches and pains." She adds. "They take really good care of their pokemon, but they're not always as thorough with themselves." She explains.

"I mean, if they ask, sure." You reply. "Gareth might be better for the job though." You add, suppressing another yawn. "He knows a lot more about this sort of thing than I do." You admit. "I asked him about how to do proper massage." You add.

"Well, I'll let 'em know." Fie replies. "And don't sell yourself short." She adds. You get the sense she's smiling at using the turn of phrase you used on Holly earlier. "If you asked him about this, then you're a real fast learner." She adds, before sitting up.

You look away with a cough.

You hear her shift before she tilts your chin up so you're nose to nose.

"Did you ask him so you could do massage for me?" She asks. There's a hint of mischief in her eyes. She's still completely topless and you dare not look away from her eyes in case the way you look is down again. And it would seem she knows that.

A while later, Fie break's the kiss.

"I did indeed like my massage." She replies, smiling. "Thanks."

"A-anytime." You reply, trying not to squirm as reality comes crashing back in.

You fall asleep to Fie's smile and comfortable weight on top of you, in a state of disbelief as to the fact that just happened.

Sure, Fie's been a major tease pretty much since you met her, but with how she's been trying to push you at the others, you just chalked it up to her being her.

And while she did say she drew the line at making out, the fact that she more or less threw you down to initiate it, sans top, says something rather telling about her feelings on the subject of the both of you.

"Wait, is that actually you or is this a proper dream?" You ask.

Fie blinks and recoils, surprised.

"...I... guess it's actually me." She says, non-plussed. "Since, if this were a proper dream, I don't think you'd be asking that sort of question." She adds. "Is this something to do with that aura training?" She asks.

"I don't know." You admit.

Now that you actually look at yourself and Fie, you notice that there's no detail around her chest or either of your groins.

"Sure hope you don't have a massive white blur there IRL." Fie says drily as she frowns. "Let's see if we can't change details." She suggests.

You concentrate on a fireplace, in the wall, but nothing happens.

"Hm. Worth a shot. But what the hell?" Fie says. "If neither of us are the source of this, then who...?"

"Um..." You both turn and by the door, standing in a similarly conveniently and comically censored manner to yourself and Fie and blushing furiously, is Holly. "S-sorry." She stammers. "I... th-this j-just... happens sometimes." She says. "I can't do anything about it. It's why I..." She trails off.

"Wait, Holly, are you a Psychic?" You ask as Holly shrinks in on herself, close to tears.

"I don't know." She sobs.

"It'd make sense as to why the International Police set a Psychic investigator to look for her." Fie notes.

You shake your head. You can unpack that later.

Holly looks up.

"Wait... if you're here... are the others here too?" She wonders.

"I suppose we can go look..." You concede.

With that, the three of you exit the bedroom out into an oppulent hallway with more doors down its length. If it wasn't for the continuing theme of red light everywhere, it'd probably look ritzy as hell. As it stands, it looks gloomy and kind of creepy.

"Is this your home, Holly?" Fie asks.

"No." She replies, shaking her head vehemently. "It's just where I used to live." She explains as she starts checking doors. She checks two, only to find them locked, then opens the third and immediately closes it again, immediately flushing a brighter red. "Let's... check somewhere else." She says, hastily heading down the halls, ignoring the other doors now.

You frown and go put your ear to the door curiously.

You hear muttered giggling on the other side.

You can take a fair guess as to what's happening on the other side and frankly, you tend to agree with Holly's suggestion.

"Moving on, if this has happened before, is it a dream or a nightmare?" You ask.

"It's..." She shakes her head. "I don't know." She admits. "Sometimes, it's like... what I wish my life was like. And sometimes, it's like every bad memory of life at home is happening all at once in here." She says.

"There any good way to wake up from it?" Fie asks.

Holly shakes her head.

"I don't know." She admits in a small voice. "Arceus, I'm useless." She adds.

The light seems to dim further and the hallway suddenly seems far more sinister.

"And, you're tough." Fie adds. "You've been keeping up with us since we left Newport." She adds. "And I haven't heard so much as a request for a break, nevermind a complaint from you." She adds.

The light brightens back up.

"R-really?" Holly asks.

"Really." You and Fie say together.

"Okay... Let's... let's go see if we can't find anyone else. Gareth and Jean seem to be..." She trails off and blushes.

Fie grins evilly.

I wonder if we should encourage them to continue that for real while awake? Jean's the girl we played Seven Minutes with, in case anybody forgot. Went through all that trouble and apprehension to vet us thoroughly in Seven Minutes, and then immediately goes and gets railed by Gareth. Sounds realistic enough though, congrats on that QM.
>"No way, you met an Aura Guardian?" Jean asks, clearly startled.
>"A novice anyway. His name is Gareth. And he's the third member of our group." You explain.
>"You'll have to introduce me." She says. "I've always wanted to know more about Aura, but most books on the subject are crap written by posers from the cities spouting whatever they find on the internet." She adds.
And then later, near the thread's end
>"You got anything going on with anyone else?" You ask.
>He shakes his head.
>"No. Nothing like that." Gareth replies. "The apprentice I did the aura sharing with was a friend. He and I practically grew up as brothers. Aura Guardians aren't ascetic or celibate or anything, but the sort of girls who tend to frequent Coralview City are... a bit much, you could say, for someone who's used to discipline and modesty as a matter of course." He explains awkwardly. "So, there's never been anyone. Maybe if there'd been any female novices within a year or two of me, but that's not the case."
>"Well, I'll make sure to warn Fie's friends not to go overboard." You assure. "But don't stress about it. You'll meet someone eventually."
Well congrats, he found that someone.
>"Mostly, wait for Kathryn to come back and get caught in a 'compromising' position." You admit.
>Jean nods.
>"Yeah, that would work." She agrees. "She's not got the most overactive imagination in our little group, but she's been trying to hook me up."
We can tell Kathryn that she has Holly to thank for what's going on in that room right now.

"Maybe we should try and find Kathryn?" You suggest.

"Didn't you just say Judy would best be able to help me?" Holly asks.

"No, Kathryn's pretty down-to-earth." Fie says. "She's the sort who picks apart all the reasons why movies are stupid and zeroes in on plot-holes." She adds. "If this dream gets as bad as you said, she's exactly the person we want around."

"I was thinking because she seems to know a bit of everthing, but that still works." You agree.

"Do you know where she might gravitate to in a mansion?" Holly asks, sounding not doubtful, per se, but apprehensive.

"The kitchen." Fie says instantly. "Food is a hobby of hers."

Holly brightens.

The hallway is almost at a normal level of light now and looks thoroughly mundane as Holly leads the way to a landing and down the stairs, then through a small door underneath into a large kitchen, fit for a restaurant, where, sure enough, Kathryn is cooking away, humming to herself. "Emergent." Kathryn corrects absently. "And, I guess that makes sense. Is anyone else here?" She asks.

"Uh... um... Jean and Gareth are, but..." Holly trails off, blushing and fidgeting.

Kathryn perks up and grins.

"They've not realised this isn't a ah, 'normal' dream?" She guesses.

Holly nods, not looking up as Kathryn does a miniature cheer.

"Well, I guess that kind of explains why we're all wearing clouds." She concedes after she's stopped celebrating. "If you're the originator of this dream, your perceptions and insecurities must be colouring it, but I don't really get the correlation." She admits.

"Is there anything you can do to help me wake up?" Holly asks anxiously.

Kathryn thinks for a minute.

"No... not as of right now..." She admits. "Alli might look in to get Accalia or Patch to take a watch and notice what's going on, but that's going to take a while." She shrugs. "I mean, you're welcome to hang around here and cook." She says. "Or, talk. Or make out. I won't judge." She adds as Holly blushes crimson at Kathryn's bluntness.

"Tempting as that sounds, Holly's got some..."

"I... I've got some bad memories associated with this place." She says in a small voice. "Can you please come with us?" She asks.

Kathryn studies Holly for a minute, then shrugs.

"This is a recurring nightmare for you, huh?" Kathryn asks.

"It can turn into one easily." Holly confirms.

Holly leads the way back down the hall to a seemingly random room and opens it, before entering cautiously, before her face goes stark white at the interior:

It's a bedroom. And it'd be a very nice one if it wasn't ransacked and there wasn't presently a twelve-foot tall man in his late thirties in a grey suit presently scowling darkly in the middle of the destruction.

He reaches out and grabs Holly as she stands frozen before hurling her at the opposite wall.

Dream or not, this isn't flying.

You rush in at the giant's back and punch it in the back of the knee, putting it off balance and drawing its attention to you. It's like punching a tree, but it seems to have had some small effect.

"This thing's not real, Holly. This is your dream. It doesn't have to be huge and threatening!" You say as she sits up and you duck under an attempt to grab you.

Holly shakes her head and sits up as you side step another grab and strike back. It doesn't seem to do much, but you keep dodging and striking, falling into an easy rhythm as the giant screams something about guests and strange boys.

You ignore it and keep fighting and as you do, you can feel yourself getting faster and hitting harder as the giant starts to shrink and your blows start having an appreciable effect.

"You've got this." Kathryn shouts from where she's helping Holly up. She's no longer white with fear and seems to be almost in awe of you right now as you start putting this 'man' on the back foot, then proceed to beat about seven different kinds of shit out of him, before shattering the apparition into motes of light with a final left hook.

You hold position for a second more out of shock than anything, before Holly has sprinted across the distance between the two of you and hugged you so fiercely that if this were real, you're sure she'd have crushed the breath out of you.

She's not crying, but it's clear that you've had an effect on her. How exactly it'll manifest itself in the waking world remains to be seen, but it's definitely there.

The room has grown brighter and rights itself before your eyes.

A door creaks open to reveal a wardrobe, out of which steps Judy, accompanied by her Gardevoir.

"What's all the shouting about?" She asks, looking at everyone, before pausing and frowning. "Wait..."

She winks out of existence.

A few moments later, Kathryn follows.

You don't see Holly wink out as there's the sound of the zipper working, before you're abruptly jerked back to wakefulness, along with Fie, by Judy.

"Sorry." She says sheepishly at Fie's disapproving look. "I'll um... I'll let you get a shirt on."

In the gloom, Fie does just that as you untangle yourselves before making your way out into the pre-dawn gloom to the fire where everyone else is converging, more or less all wide awake.

"Sorry about that." Judy says. "So... who here's a Psychic?" She asks.

"How are you going to do that?" Holly asks.

"Easy." Judy says. "Gardevoir can teach you the basics."

You feel like this is skipping a lot of details, but it's not like you really have that many other options.

You could try asking Officer Winters her opinion, but there's no guarantee she'll have any better ideas.

"In the meantime though..." Kathryn begins. "It's a bit early, but it's not really worth going back to bed."

>Yeah, good point. I'll make breakfast.

You stand up, close your eyes and take a deep breath.

Aura is still new to you, but you're starting to get the hang of getting in touch with it.

After a few moments, you 'look' around:

Close at hand, you can see the auras of the others as they stoke the fire, get ready for breakfast, start training and in the case of Judy and Holly, start on Psychic lessons with Judy's Gardevoir.

More further afield, you can make out the dim auras of other, sleeping campers, but there's no sign of Gareth and Jean.

Then you look towards the toilet block and see a roiling mess of blue and yellow.

The blue, you recognise as Gareth.

You're not sure about the yellow, but it could be Jean.

It's difficult to tell from this far what, exactly is going on over there, but you at least now know where they are.

You're just letting go of the aura when you notice a variegated aura off in the same direction, but more towards the lake: It's purple and red, more like that of a pokemon than a person and steadily radiates power.

>Go see what Jean and Gareth are doing.

"Where're you off to?" She asks.

"I just saw a strange aura by the lake." You reply.

"While you were looking for Jean and Gareth?" She asks.

"Yeah. I think they're over in the showers though." You explain.

"Hm." Martha says. "If it turns out to be that Legendary that's supposed to live around here, it'll wear you like a towel." She notes. "I'm coming with you.

"Sure." You say, shrugging.

She hurries off to retrieve her team, then you both head off in the direction you saw the aura.

"Those vegan freaks?" Martha asks incredulously. "What the hell..." She shakes her head. "Well, if they've got an axe to grind, we better get back to camp." She says.

You nod, before looking around to see, sure enough, Rufflet has followed you.

"Go over to the shower block and watch for Gareth and Jean." You tell him. "Make sure they don't get jumped by anyone like that guy."

Rufflet caws, before fluttering off into the predawn gloom.

You hurry back to the camp and hear the sounds of battle going on.

"Looks like they do have it out for you." Martha says, reaching for her pokedex. "Dragonair, keep watch." She orders. "I'll call the police. If there's any stragglers, this would be a good opportunity to get some experience for your team." She adds.

You nod and hurry towards the fighting.

You're keenly aware of Syurm and Fluffy's respective absences after how well they did in Newport, but it can't be helped. Sage might be out for the moment, but Rusty is still relatively fresh. Kay O-o and Volta meanwhile are both fully rested and have more training. You could also release Queenie and use this as an opportunity to see what she can do.

You skirt around the edge of the camp until you see Fie and Kathryn battling four more Team Green grunts while Judy is battling another two and looking after Holly, who is apparently having Checkers support her via the use of Reflect, Light Screen and Safeguard.

Thus furnished with the location of Team Green, you creep around them, releasing Kay O-o and Rusty as you get in position.

Normally, Fie and Kathryn should be steamrolling these jokers, but their usual tactic of releasing multiple pokemon is slowing things down and you can see another few Grunts hurrying over behind the present batch. You find yourself wishing that Rusty knew stealth Rock or Spikes. You could give those reinforcements one hell of a surprise if he did, before you make a not to look into it later.

You've got to wonder where they all even came from and why they're here, but you assume you were a target of opportunity rather than their primary reason for coming out here.

You watch Rusty closely, but you needn't have worried.

Shortly, the both of them have finished and you order them to use Rock Polish and Dragon Dance respectively again twice more as the reinforcements get closer.

"Alright, show time." You say as the reinforcements start releasing their own pokemon:

There're three of them, one of whom doesn't look like the Grunts. For one thing, he's not wearing a bandana across his face. Instead he's died his hair an offensively bright shade of green. It also looks like he tried to style it in a mohawk, but the mohawk looks like it's given up on life.

He's released a Lileep, while his backup have released a Houndour and a Poochyena.

It's probably a fair guess that this guy is some sort of leader within Team Green.

You've got the drop on them though and with the element of surprise, you're sure you can mess these guys up.

The pair spring into action, Rusty launching a barrage of rocks that catches Houndour as it's bounding in from the side at Kathryn's Alakazam, while Kay O-o intercepts Poochyena, tripping it up and sending it tumbling, fetching up in a dazed heap just short of the melee with Fie and Kathryn.

"Come out and fight me." The neon-green haired man challenges as hinds recall their fainted pokemon. "Unless you're more cowardly than a girl." He taunts into the predawn gloom, apparently having no idea where you are for the time being.

You don't reply and let Rusty and Kay O-o handle this.

The green-haired man's Lileep doesn't have a chance to move before Rusty has hit it with a Metal Claw and Kay O-o has come in and slammed into it with a Dragon Tail. It doesn't move, but with how it keels over and slams into the ground, you're pretty sure it's firmly knocked out.

"You cowardly bitch." The green haired man says to the surrounding area as he recalls his Lileep. Kay O-o takes the opportunity to perform another Dragon Dance and Rusty's armour shimmers as he Hardens.

"Go, Tropius. Whirlwind." He orders, releasing the large sauropod-esque pokemon.

You can't let this one stand. If Rusty and Kay O-o get switched, you'll lose a major advantage.

"Rusty, Rock Tomb. Kay O-o, Dragon Tail!" You call, before you move, to find a new vantage point as they move.

You don't see what happens, but you hear Tropius bellow in outrage.

You duck into a bush in time to see Kay O-o slam tail-first into Tropius's chest and send it tumbling back at the Team Green boss.

He swears as he recalls Tropius while another pokemon appears: a small, low-to-the ground, black and brown pokemon you don't immediately recognise.

Well, shit. This is pretty much what it does.

Rusty glitters as he Hardens and hunkers down, while Kay O-o's tail glows blue in preparation.

He's launched high into the air, then starts coming back down, you recall him as he does and you hear Sandile give a high-pitched shriek of its own as Kay O-o clubs it out of the ground, leaving a large divot as it tumbles back at its trainer, who recalls it and swaps a very battered Tropius back in, then rushes at the bush you're sheltering in.

"Kay O-o, Headbutt!" You order as you deftly clamber out of the bush into a Dragon Dance.

You immediately feel that heady rush of energy as you release Volta.

"Volta, Fire Fang Tropius!" You order.

She growls, then bounds at Tropius as Kay O-o knocks it off balance with a Headbutt.

She leaps, grabs Tropius by the neck and knocks it over onto its side as it bellows from shock and pain, as much from the impact and Volta's needle sharp teeth as the burn its taken.

It slumps over, fainted as Volta releases it.

"You know you're supposed to plant vegetables in ground, not your head right?" You ask as the Team Green boss, whom you identify as a few years older than you, stops cold and glares pure venom at you. "It looks like it's taken root against your brain and it shows. You've got to have the smoothest pebble brain going."

The man goes nearly purple with anger and swings wildly at you.

This wasn't how you intended to get a Capoeira workout in today, but it'll do.

You run rings around the Team Green boss as he tries to punch or kick you and summarily fails at it as you almost literally dance around him, growing quicker and quicker as the minutes pass until Martha's Dragonair slithers in front of you and wraps the man up, effectively immobilising him.

"Police are on their way." Martha tells you. "That was pretty well handled." She admits. The others are all tied up as well." She adds as the man continues to struggle.

She inclines her head back to the camp and you follow her as her Dragonair shuffles along after you, being met half way by Kathryn's Alakazam, which wastes no time in using Hypnosis on the hapless Team Green boss, before he's dumped with another seven of them, all neatly tied up.

(Part 1)

"What's going on?"

The question is followed by Gareth and Jean, who both look to be fresh from the showers and escorted by Rufflet, who caws at you, slearly looking for approval.

"Good job." You acknowledge.

"Team Green showed up while we were getting breakfast ready." Judy explains. "And tried to ambush us." She glances at the tied up thugs. "It didn't really go well for them."

"Where've you two been?" Holly asks.

"Just taking an early shower." Gareth replies.

You get an overwhelming impression of embarrassment from both of them. You put it at 50/50 that there's more to it than just the dream.

"I take it you didn't make it to the showers then?" Kathryn asks, addressing you and Martha.

"No, we didn't." Martha confirms. "He." she gestures to you, "decided to blunder through the camp ground with his eyes shut to the lake shore." She said. "And found this." She opens her pokedex so the others can all see the photo of you petting the strange red and white pokemon.

Everyone looks at you with eyes as round as coins and mouths agape.

"Well, you do you and I'll forget about it." You say.

"Thanks." Jean says, though she doesn't sound particularly enthused.

"For what it's worth though, Gareth's a great guy. And I think you'd make a cute couple." You add.

"You think so?" Jean asks.

"Yeah. He mentioned he hasn't got anyone waiting back home, so, why not give it a try?"

Jean's silent in reply and you can see her blushing again, before she stands and hurries off, leaving you to focus on breakfast.

It's nearly done when the police arrive, accompanied by Detective Winters.

"Seems like these guys really have it out for you." She notes as the eight thugs are handcuffed and packed into a divvy van.

"Yeah, though it seems kind of unlikely that they came all this way just for me." You note.

"I think you already have a pretty good idea what they're here for." Winters says knowingly.

I think you might get a track on one of them with this. I managed to trash his phone in the fight so he's probably going to buy a new one. If you find him in time he could prove to be an useful unwitting insider.

"Well, there was this pokemon by the lake this morning..." You begin, before beckoning Martha over so she can show Winters the picture she took.

"...Huh." Winters says. "Latias would be a tempting target." She agrees.

"Latias?" You ask.

Winters nods.

"The counterpart of Latios in their specific duo of Legends." She says. "They're very rarely seen, thanks to their ability to turn invisible, so practically nothing is known about them. Hence their designation of Legendary." She explains. "Capturing one would be a big bargaining chip for Team Green, nevermind Latias's strength." She adds. "How d'you know they were trying to catch it?" She asks.

"Because, I stopped them." You reply modestly as you fish out the Quick Ball.

"He's being modest. He pulled a one-eighty and caught that out of the air single-handed." Martha adds.

"Nice catch. We should be able to back-trace the digital serial number off this. The physical one's probably been filed, but they probably haven't jail-broken this." Winters adds.

"Sage also destroyed the phone of the grunt who threw this." You add. "So, if you identify them, you might be able to bug their replacement."

"Probably going to need a warrant for that, but that's my problem." Winters says. "In the meantime, we've got your statements and our perps, so we'll get out of your hair.

Keep up the good work with 'Holly'.

You blink. Detective Winters gives you a wink over Martha's head, then turns her back and heads out of the campsite.

With that, you all settle down to breakfast.

Judy and Holly return not long after and once you've eaten and cleaned up, you pack up and set off for the trail around the lake.

Ok so detective lady set us up with Holly. So we WILL be dealing with whatever her father is involved with at some point. So taking all bets on
A) The dad is an evil mega-tycoon using Team Green to further his evil operations.
B) The dad is a Chairman Rose type trying to steal/control Legendary Pokemon to take over the world. Team Green is unrelated, or is at best a front for this goal.
C) The dad is/was using his daughter as some kind of pawn to seize control of the Government, maybe she has bullshit OP Godlike Psychic powers or something.

You keep an eye out for pokemon as you walk.

As it happens, it's pretty lively this morning:

There's the expected Magikarp leaping out of the water in the lake and you can see Clauncher in the shallows closer to the bank through the clear water, in amongst the roots of trees and fallen branches.

You spy a Swablu in the branches of one and around the foot of a wild apple tree, you also see one that doesn't seem quite... right.

The air is also full of the sound of Tympole chirping.

"Hey Holly, see that bird over there?" You ask, indicating the Swablu in the tree.

"Oh, that's a cute one." Holly says after a second as she spots it.

"That's a Swablu. They're the ones that like to pretend they're a hat." You say.

"I'm going to catch it." She says, before heading over.

"You see a pokemon?" Fie asks.

"Yeah, there's a Swablu over there." You confirm as Holly releases Checkers.

"Let's see how she does." Judy suggests as you all come to a halt.

Holly opens well, having Checkers spook Swablu out of the tree with Fake Out, before using Safeguard.

This turns out to be something of a wasted effort as Swablu retaliates with a Fury Attack. Holly counters with Swift, before pulling out another of those elegant-looking black and red poke balls and throwing it.

It hits and the ball drops, before rocking once, twice, three times... then clicks.

There's a moment's silence before Holly picks up the ball and returns Checker's before hurrying back towards you, eyes shining with elation.

"I did it!" She says as she releases both her pokemon, healing Checkers before coaxing Swablu over and tending to its injuries as well. "I'm going to call you Cotton." She says, offering it a poke treat and coaxing it onto her shoulder.

You grin and congratulate her before going to check out the weird apple you noticed.

You hiss, grit your teeth and fumble for an empty poke ball, before tapping the tenacious little bugger that's biting you.

It disappears in a flash and you hastily put the ball down before stepping back.

It rocks once, twice, three times... then bursts open as the weird apple-creature snaps and hisses and leaps, trying to grab you again.

"Ah. Got fooled by that Applin, huh?" Kathryn asks sagely.

"That what it's called?" You ask as you back pedal to gain some distance.

"Yeah, they hollow out apples and Leppa Berries to shelter in from bird pokemon when they hatch." Kathryn explains. "You going to catch it?" She asks.

"Queenie, use Silver Wind." You order.

Queenie beats her wings and sends a stream of fine, glittering dust at the Applin, which is still leaping and biting, trying to close in on you. It's sent shooting back away from you as it sneezes in the cloud of powder, propelling itself back almost to it's starting position.

You throw a poke ball and once again, Applin disappears.

The ball rocks again, once... twice... thrice... then clicks as Applin is caught.

"Great job, Queenie." You congratulate as you go and retrieve the ball.

"Not bad." Kathryn says. "What do you think you'll evolve it into?" She asks.

"Good question." You admit, before checking your pokedex.

Both evolutions look weird as all getout, if you're honest, but since you have to pick.
