"And So, the great hero plunged his blade into the dark kings daemonic head, silencing his earth shaking roars and slaying the man turned dark beast." Said the village elder to the assorted children that had gathered in their short period of free time. You watched on from the back, no longer a child yourself but allowing yourself the small simple pleasure, though now you regretted the decision as the elder wrapped up the story of the "Hero of Time", a common and popular Hylian tale, and one you found to never sit well with you. "With the Dark King Slain, the Hero brought light back to the lands, and with the Princess, rebuilt all that had been damaged by the Dark King during his malicious rule, and the kingdom live on in peace and happiness."

The children cheered, and you smiled at the endearing display, before lifting up your bag of goods, adjusting your face covering and your thick clothing before moving on through the market. You watched the everyday events of your village play by, a village near the border of what were once the independent Gerudo that found itself to be a melting pot of Hylian and Gerudo culture . Many statuesque woman marched along the lanes of the city, their Hylian companions dwarfed by the impressive race of women. Many hybrids could be seen, all of course female and all bearing strong Gerudo features, the blood of their mothers overpowering their father's.

However, you were far more covered than anyone else, hidden beneath layers and cloth as you walked on under the lie of some form of injury that you wished to hide. When really, you hid something you were born with. You were male, a once in a century born Gerudo male that in ancient times would have been vaunted as King of his people, but you were here the child of a farmer. here you were a reclusive female hybrid who hid away on her parent's distant farm, known as Esi. A name chosen for the ease you would have remembered it as a youth, one you could not mistakenly forget and reveal your true name.

Your parents were not ashamed of you, and in your home you were free to be yourself, be the son who shared his father's name. However, a Male Gerudo was something that would not be allowed to exist. An ancient edict, enacted centuries before by the Queen of Hylia and enforced by her fearless knight when they had struck down the Demon King Ganondorf, avatar of Malice that had nearly ushered in an age of destruction.

No, your parents did not feel shame for you. They feared for you, and all of their life was dedicated to seeing your grow safely and happily. Stories of mothers of male Gerudo willingly handing their children away had kept you up at night when you were younger, soothed by your mother's care and promises, your father's valiant claims to protect his kin.

But valiant as the Senior Rabali was, you the junior did your part to avoid bringing the blade of the Queen to your home's doorstep. You had few friends amongst the village, and none that knew your true self and thus none you could trust to call true friends. You performed your chores in disguise, an activity you had to fight with your parents as they feared your discovery, but you could not be a mere leach upon our family. Especially as the prospect of continuing the family line felt more like a fantasy than a possibility...

But it was one you had worked to accept, finding solace in the simple joys of your life. The peace of your life, the humble work of a farm hand, the idea that one day you would inherit a land held by your father's family for generations. All this, along with your own personal pursuits...

>In your free time, far from the eyes of your family and the village, you practiced your hand at swordsmanship. Using a blade found in the shade of the forest, it should have been too large to be usable as a weapon, but in your hands it felt light and natural.

>Whenever you have the chance, during your visits to the village, you sneak a session of reading and lessons with the local sage. While magical teaching was, according to the law, meant to only happen in the halls of the Hylian Academy, in practice local sage would teach minor spells to those gifted with the ability. You were seen as a prodigy, and your teacher had one more than one occasion pleaded with you to further pursuit the career of a practitioner of magic, but you had thus far refused.

>In the wilds beyond the village and your farm, there lied a quarry of stone long abandoned where you trained your body. With pure strength and will, you practiced to crush and lift great stones and walls of rock, effectively attempting to mine the quarry with your very body. The fact that on occasion you are able to sell ore and gems at the village serves as a good gauge of your strength.

>Unknown to all, you have made contact with a clan of creatures commonly treated as Vermin at the best of times, dangerous beasts at the worst. You however find them interesting, living simple lives with simple tools, and making trade with you on occasion. You find their traditions odd, their use of boar iconography particularly note worthy, but the amateur anthropology serves as a cherished hobby of yours.

I feel we would have a sense of kinship with these unfortunate creatures, as we too are an existence disdained by society

We hold the triforce of POWER, even if we do not know it yet. Skill will come with time, and allies( or friends) as well, but strength such as this requires work to cultivate and is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain.

Besides, it helps the family. We can live better with more money.

Among your father’s people, they are called Bokoblins, and though they possess the cunning to fashion weapons, traps, and structures, their lifestyle remains remarkably humble in comparison to other races. Whether this was due to an inferior intelligence, baser desires, or simply a lack of need for anything greater you had yet to figure out. While hylians farmed, their Bokoblin neighbors would hunt and forage, occasionally growing bold enough to raid nearby villages or solitary farmsteads for the plentiful food and goods that they saw as easy pickings. You liked to think this was not out of malice for the Hylians, rather a rival tribe of Bokoblins possessed food and goods in the quantity of hylian villages, while also being as comparatively lightly defended, the Bokoblins would raid such a target. However, the Bokoblins did practice some things that leant evidence towards their supposed evil nature. They chose to cook and eat their catch alive, seemingly finding entertainment in the sounds made in the action as they imitate them in mocking manner later to elicit laughter from the compatriots. They also had a notable hatred for Hylians outside their raids, making crude facsimiles out of woodland debris to train against and fill with arrows. Though that last one could be done for good reason with how greatly Hylians hate the Bokoblin race.

As you mused on the various facets of the complex problem, a sparrow flew down and nearly scratched your face, swooping close and missing only thanks to you flinching back. It tweeted at you angrily, swooping again but this time as a warning. You held up your hands and took a few steps away from it, until it grew calm and flew back to a nest high in a tree, glaring at you from up high as you slowly made your way past, making sure to not appear threatening or make any loud noises as you passed through its territory.

While you seemed to do well with Bokoblins, you had plenty of experiences where the more ‘peaceful’ creatures of the land did not take a liking to you. A squirrel attack when you were just a tot, dogs barking at your presence, and on occasion, an angry mother bird who would be overly protective of her nest with you around. You found you could still befriend these creatures, just that they took a very initial disliking to you. It had caused no end of gentle natured barbs from your parents. Just another facet of your life you decided, turning from the mother bird when she did the same, and moving on down the road.

...Only, there was no road, at least not one as you remembered. Instead stretched out a collection of stone platforms, archways that were flat for form a path to walk upon whose supports stretched on into a seemingly endless void below. In the Void, you sensed something, something familiar, more so than your mother or father. It made a chill run down your spine, which both angered and pleased the abyss below. Looking back up to the path, it had shifted once more, now you stood before the mouth of a cave carved into the maw of a boar. It felt as if this porcine feature could breath, air that nearly burned you blasting across your skin. Something called for you within, something primal, hidden in the bowels of this cave.

A sword swings down, a streak of light flies by, the tune of an ocarina plays, and the roar of a monster shakes the world, before you fall to the abyss. You fall and fall, beyond reason and possibility, you sank further and further from the light. Three suns held up in the sky high above becoming dimmer and further from you, their warmth replaced with a burn that began to grow across your back. This feeling, this fall, it was not the first. You looked to your side, and saw hundreds of human shapes falling into the abyss like you. A look to your right mirrored the left. All around you, you fell. All felt the burn of the abyss, a raging force so ancient and familiar that you could almost forget the feeling of your flesh coming undone, your mind could almost ignore the invasion of fire into its folds.

But then, while the rest continued to fall, while you and all the other yous in this hell fell, one stopped. You felt the light of the three suns reach you, and you saw something reach out to you, a voice accompanying it that acted as cooling rain for the blaze at your back.

>A feminine hand of dark complexion. Its fingers are covered in calluses, particularly between the middle and pointer finger. Claw-like scars decorated their arm, and the smell of the wilds heralded its arrival “Esi! Come on, you have to wake up!”

>A youthful hand, bearing flesh the same color as your father’s. It was small, not yet damaged by life and work, yet it earnestly reached for you all the same as the smell of old books accompanied it “Esi, come on you can’t nap here. Wake up.”

>An armored hand, wrapped in leather with metal studs. The smell of the wilds ran a stampede with it, and the sound of elk sang a chorus as he spoke “Esi, are you alright? Wake up!”

>A wrinkled old hand, aged to venerability and wielded with a grace reserved for the wise. The smell of the wind caressed you as it reached out, a jovial voice carried along the jet stream “Why young lady, you’ll catch a cold like this. Wake up.”

You felt yourself ascend from the dark, back into the land of gentle warmth and calming light. A wave of rage and desperation claws its way from the dark, but as you were pulled away you saw its rage falter and back to whence it came, an ageless patience calming the black sea as whatever lied within watched you. Then, the world flooded with light.

____

A large man of muscle and stone fell, his bone charms and dark inscriptions burning away at the surrounding heat. A blue light landed on his brow, providing him a gentle glow to accompany his final moments before his breathing ceased. With the sound of heavy footsteps, the blue light flew away from the fallen Goron master of ash, and towards its fellow fairy lights that danced in the presence of man covered in armor, and wielding arms of ancient quality and power. Silently, the man bowed his head at the fallen foe, and paid respect to the dead as the lights danced around him searching for anything that remained to be burned or destroyed.

Then, the man flinched, first stumbling forward then stabbing his blade into the ground to support himself. His eyes opened wide as he looked around the cave sanctuary, looking to every shadow and crevice as his eyes grew wide with terror. The lights swarmed to their master’s aide, not knowing what to do as the elder warrior’s breathing hastened at some unseen threat. Soon, the breathing calmed to a steady rhythm, the warriors stood straight against the flickering darkness around him, and all terror left his eyes. Resolution, an iron will replace what had once been weak with strength of spirit as the warrior gently held his hand out and let a fairy land on his waiting finger. He leaned forward and whispered to it a message, one he had never hoped to utter. The glowing creature of light stuttered in surprise, then flew off as fast as it could, leaving no word to its companions who watched on in frightened confusion.

Reaching for his belt, the warrior pulled out a rod whose end was decorated with a red lotus shaped flame, heat rolling off of it enough to rival that of the volcanic mountain air, and he aimed it at the corpse before him. The Queen’s Eternal blade set fire to all the dark knowledge and items held within, and as a golden triangle bared its light against the darkness from his hand, the Hero of Hyrule turned and began his next hunt.

You rolled your eyes and weathered the assault on your pride, the laughter of your ‘savior’ having only now weakened after a few minutes. Your blithe companion stood straight and continued to walk alongside you, an escort to your home against ‘fell winged nest mothers’ according to her.

“Really Imena, you’re overreacting.” You say in a practiced voice, adding femininity to it as you strolled along with one of the few you could call a friend. She strode along, a Gerudo woman of cultivated strength that kept watch over the village’s territory, a bow taller than her already great gerudo height on her back. Her hair was tied into a tight bun to keep it from her eyes, decorated with small colored baubles and a few jewels, received by admirers both romantic and platonic. She carried herself with sharp features, through her eyes would give away the mischief maker within.

Imena shook her head, calming her fits of humor as she took control of herself again, unleashing a centering sigh as she smiled towards you “I’d beg to differ Esi, with you acting like a Damsel from a creature no bigger than a field mouse to you. And you ‘descent into a rageful abyss’ is by far the most decorative way I've heard someone say ‘I fainted in fear’.” She said, letting out a laugh as you shoved her shoulder partly out of anger and partly as a good natured retaliation. “You had me worried there, I thought something had decided to try and claim your life when I found you lying on the road, glad to see the great beasts of this world had their prey stolen by a sparrow.”

“And like I have explained, the sparrow was not the cause! I had bravely navigated her treacherous lands completely before I succumbed to...whatever that was.” you say, your voice growing quiet as the images from before flashed in your mind, and the confusion and fear returned. You had known those images, seen them before countless times, but you knew the eyes you were born with had never been witness to anything like you had been forced to be an audience to.

A hand was placed on your shoulder, and you looked to see Imena smiling at you genuinely, giving you a firm shake of support “Hey, it was just a bad dream. A trick of the mind, like a moving shadow in the night. Don’t pay it too much mind alright, Rabaldi?” She said, whispering your true name so none would overhear.

You smiled at your Sister’s support, and after letting what you saw play again across your mind, you nodded and let out a sigh “Yes, You’re probably right. PerhapsI should take a break from studying those carvings I found.” You say with a sheepish grin hidden beneath your covering but one your sister could easily imagine as she rolled her eyes.

“What you find so fascinating about those creatures is a mystery to me, they’re nothing but uncivilized monsters.” She said, shielding her eyes as the two of you exited the forest to the open field owned by your family. At the top of a hill that dominated the clearing, a two story house painted with blues, oranges, and browns sat like a king upon its throne, dominating its domain as from its chimney smoke gently rose to mix with the open sky. As you descended into a knowledgeable rant about the various discoveries and theories you had concerning the Bokoblins tribes, a decent revenge against Imena’s earlier laughter at your expense, you passed by carefully curated fields of wheat, barley, and many other forms of produce. With the harvest season beginning in only a few more days, it seemed that a lake of gold rested in the valley between your home and the surrounding forest.

As your sister tried to politely disconnect her senses from the world and stare into the void of the sky to escape your lectures, you heard in the distance the sounds of animals large and small, all plump and prepared to give to their owners a bountiful harvest weather it be in milk, eggs, or meat if their number had grown to large to sustain. You did not look forward to that part of the harvest, having helped tend to many of those animals until they had fully grown, but you were used to the chore by now.

Doubling down on the counter attack you sent your sister’s way, you began to speak on the bartering practices of the local Skull Stone tribe and the effect of Bokoblin color on prices, going into excruciating detail as you saw the strength of leaving your siblings body.

_____
Sat in a solitary room, gently caressing an old tome as eyes were cast to a large glass sphere, within which lay the moving image of a port town, an ancient Queen watched for signs of darkness. It was all she really did nowadays, her people enjoying plentiful food and peace, her kingdom curated by highly trained advisors and beauracrates, and the few children she had left off on their own adventures of life in their own elderly years. She had seen a descendent of hers today, a great great great granddaughter that had looked so much like the queens own first born. It has been a tiring experience, but one that held its own treasures the Queen could find solace with.

She lifted a hand to be illuminated in the dull light of the magical study, and found that despite the ages past and the family she had left behind, the spells and Magic that kept her ready for the calamity still held back time’s gentle gifts. She wondered what her children’s children must think when they see her, when they imagine an old crone and are instead met with a woman that, while not a young maiden, still stood with her back unbent and her skin only slightly weathered.

It was a surreal topic to consider, one she always found herself visiting when a new child is born to the line and introduced to her, one tinged with fear that her family held anger towards her because of it. But, in the end it did not matter what they felt, whether they thought they were betrayed or abandoned. They could not stand in the way of her mission, and if they scorned her they would still live in peace.

A blue light flew in through her window, and she raised a brow as she gently caught the exhausted light. She had expected word from her knight of the Master of Ash’s demise, but not so quickly and not so indirectly. She held her ear close, and let the small creature speak.

All color left the Queen’s face, all sound left her world, save for the words that she had partially hoped never to hear.

In a frenzy she placed the fairy down so it could rest, then began to shout orders, slamming open the great doors to her study as she sought out every warrior and advisor she could find. She shouted orders to prepare defenses, to rally the warriors, to break open the ancient armories, all while the words rang in her head and brought with them a dread she had not felt since she was so very young.

“Demise has awakened.”

Darkness had fallen outside, but within your home the warmth of the fire provided enough illumination for you and your family to simply enjoy the last few relaxing days before a return to the heavy work, your mother helped to weave new cloths for the eventual winter while your father work on new furniture that would more comfortably fit his family of much larger people.

How do you spend your time before you head to bed?

>Help your father with his wood carving, as it is an invaluable skill to have when you take over the farmstead, and can serve as a trade on its own.

>help your mother to create clothing, using practiced hands to spin yarn and silk to create durable and appealing clothing

The night stretches on with your family, you helping your mother with the fabrics, sewing, and stitching of clothing through the evening. You manage to create rather comfortable parka for yourself that would keep you warm, lined with wool and fur and it reaching down to your waist to help hide your features and body while not restricting your movement uncomfortably. You also helped fix up some of the old boots from last year that had taken a decent beating, helping to reenforce the leather and pad the soles in order to make them comfortable and usable for the wetter months. While it wasn’t yet winter, it was always good to be prepared and to have things ready well in advance. You also took some time to help your father with the insulation of the house, backing the walls with material and dirt in order to make them more effective at retaining heat. Your father wanted to get more done, but neither of you had the time before it was time to sleep.

As everyone paarted to sleep in their own beds, your father left mumbling about getting supplies to replace the door and some of the furniture. Though with a quick promise to help him in the morning, you left for bed followed by everyone else. Tomorrow would see the beginning of your family getting everything ready for the harvest season, and eventually, the harsh winter months that will bring the world to a slow and cold stop until the spring came again.

A squad of 8 young men and women stood ready on a stone platform placed high on a tower built north of the capital. The tower was constructed in the ancient times, and made stronger since the Queen’s ascension. It served as a launching point for the Glide Sloops the Hylian Knights used to quickly move across the kingdom through the air. Using a combination of Sheikah technology and wind magic, the Sloops effectively fell gracefully through the sky at a speed that could surpass most common horses. Strong weather would make the journey difficult, with storms making it impossible to use, but for most of the year it was by far the best means of getting around the kingdom, reserved solely for the Hylian Knights and those rare few who the Queen had given special permission to use the system.

The young knights stood at the ready as they waited for their leader to arrive, each sporting a set of full plate made from the finest steel, decorated with blue and green to represent the kingdom and their order. Most carried a shield and a longsword, the standard for the order and what they were famous for, but one knight (a gerudo woman) Towered over the group and held a great sword. While their armor was made of steel, of the highest quality, their weaponry was much more ancient. With the threat of the great enemy returning, the old armories had been opened, and the Hylian knights had been allowed access to their most venerable of arms.

Ancient Blades woven from Sheikah technology, their blades ready to wink into exist and cut through the enemy with sharpened light. They had to be trained in their use before being allowed to venture out, something done late in their training before becoming true knights, and that training was then refreshed when the time came to actually hold the weapon. To be given these weapons was to not only be granted a great honor, but also a suffocating responsibility for weapons that could not be replaced.

As the young knights tried to keep their nerves under control with careful conversation, they all became silent as their captain approached. A woman trained by the Blade of the Queen himself, she was one of the few in the order who received direct training from the master of their Order. Sporting armor of the ancient Sheikah, motes of light glew along its surface as a gran and blue cape bellowed in her wake. With nary a word, she motioned forward and the Knight began to load up into the Glide Sloop, with nearly a dozen other squads doing the same across the tower. Theirs was but a single team being sent out across the kingdom, ordered to search and hunt where the normal authorities had failed.

They would search sites of power, tribal territories of monsters, ancient ruins, and villages of the citizenry for anything that could be related to the return of the Calamity. Their authority would be absolute, and their mission was to destroy the source of the enemy whatever form it took. Ths mission came with the risk of being forced to commit an evil act, the slaying of a child. They all knew this, and all thought they would have the will to do it, but the Queen did not leave such a risk unaccounted for. Should a child be found to be the source of the Calamity, the Captain would personally handle it, as was their duty to their squad.

The Queen would watch her knights spread out across the kingdom, and despite all the preparations, all the weapons and training, and all the effort placed into this system, she feared it would fail. She feared fire being brought to her land, feared monsters casting down her works, and she feared a demon ordering the deaths of her people once again. It had been a few centuries by now since she ascended to the throne, and yet still, she felt like a little girl fearing the dark and the monster hidden within.

_______

You walked through the village with your father, back in your disguise unfortunately, but it was a small price to pay to help the elder Rabaldi. He had a long day ahead of him, which extended to you as well due to your volunteering, filled with carpentry of all kinds. Fences needed to be rebuilt, doors were relined, furniture repaired or replaced, structural supports added, and even plans to begin to put in extension for the house. Your father had no idea what would go into that extension, but he was like your mother in that he was always preparing for the future just in case. You half thought that he was doing it for the off chance you would eventually find a wife, but it could be that it was just something he wanted for whatever ever need arose in the future.

You followed your father, towering over him as you pulled along a cart full of supplies and lumber. When your father was distracted by conversation or his shopping, you took the time to look to the skies and ponder on your theories for the bokoblins. That when your entire body grew cold, and your breath grew still,

Floating across the sky, heading towards a landing pad that hadn’t ever been used to your memory, a Sloop was gliding through the sky. It Bore the symbol of the Hylia Knights, three triangles with the wings of the goddess placed on its hull. The Knights only handled threats to the kingdom, leaving common threats to the guards and the people unless called upon. And here they were, landing in your village.

>Tell your father and try to leave the village as quickly as possible, you had to make yourself scarce.

>Lay low, leaving suddenly might draw attention to yourself as someone suspicious, for only a criminal would run and hide from Hylia’s defenders.

>try to catch a look at the knights, and discover why they are here. Information is key to any endeavor, and if you did nothing, you would be acting in ignorance.

The site of the crest of your childhood nightmares gave you pause, but you had gone over this situation plenty of times across your life, and new that to panic now would only have your hunters on your trail faster. So you do not react, continuing to act the dutiful child of the elder Rabaldi as he kept on as if nothing of note had occurred. However, you knew deep down he had the panic only a father could have, his tone tense and his penchant for conversation now set aside as he sought to get what they needed at a casual pace and leave the village as regularly as possible. A grim aura fell over your father that, despite his attempts, he could not hide as the day continued, more than once having to find alternate sources of supplies when the shopkeeper left their stall or shop to gawk at the Hylian Knight’s arrival.

When pressed, your father merely said that his farm wouldn’t get ready for winter while he was off watching, and that he’d be able to see them later since they would likely be here more than a single day if they came so far from the capital. This satisfied most, and allowed you to avoid having to go where the knights themselves would be. You would be lacking in information, but it was too early to take risks when you could gather information through the villagers later on, after the Knights have either left or settled in somewhere.

Eventually, your father and you left the village, walking calmly as the sound of festivities were heard, any reason to celebrate a welcome one amongst the people you thought with a half smile, even as you left what were possibly your hunters behind. Your return to the farm was a tense one as your father explained the situation to your mother and your sister. Your sister and father were both ready to defend you against anyone, but your mother, despite being an experienced warrior herself, knew that a hunter, a retired warrior, and a farmer that sometimes helped fend off Bokoblins would stand no chance against the Elite of Hyrule. Especially with the fact that you yourself were both untrained and ill prepared for a fight, having devoted yourself to learning and craftsmanship rather than Martial skill. Should the Knight come with the intent to take you, nothing your family or you could do would suffice in stopping them.

“Damn the Queen!” Said your father, earning a few surprised glances from your family “The hag sits in her castle, fearing some long dead boogiman. She condemns children to death just for possibility.” he said, spitting into the dirt out of disgust, his hand wresting on the hilt of his old blade. It shook slightly, as he spoke “Well if fighting them off isn’t an option, what ‘s the plan? No one is taking my boy from me.”

>Your sister is supposed to be going out on a hunting trip for a few days. You could go with her, spending a few days to maybe a few weeks in the woods hunting game and gathering pelt. You would be expected to physically exert yourself, and it would be hard work, but you were be out of sight for a time and may learn a few things.

>the Bokoblin tribe nearby could possibly give you refuge if you provide suitable payment in animals or goods. You would find protection there, be away from people, and be allowed to directly learn about the tribe, offering you a means of passing the days away while you gained a deeper understanding of the monsters' ways.

>Your Mother has family nearby, nomadic by choice that could possibly take you in for a time. It would involve revealing your nature to them, a risky move, but you would be amongst family and be spirited far from the region as they went along their circuit. You would not see home again for at least a year, but you would get to see more of the country, learn more of the people, and perhaps be able to learn some magic from your mother’s sister.

>You would march off to the mountains on your own, choosing total isolation to avoid all risk of discovery. Packing enough supplies for a few months, you would fend for yourself far from prying eyes and be left to your own devices. Here, you could use your skills at crafts and carpentry to make yourself shelter and clothing, and perhaps train your body in the harsh situation so that you did not have a scholar's frame.

I know that bokoblins are the more popular choice, but I really want Ganon to choose this option since this is the choice with the biggest possible boons, it's the mystery box where we might meet allies and learn independence and strength that are nesecarry for a future king

While I would love to begin the Bokoblin Civilization Project go to the Tribe, That is the one place being found by these knights would immediately give up our identity
And also being a Self-Sufficient king is always a big big plus

Ishe stood guard outside of the latest home targeted by the captain and her squad, the home of a pair of Gerudo sisters and their niece. The captain was currently off questioning the village elders, while they were going door to door trying to get as much information as possible. So far, it seemed like they were lucky and managed to get a village that had no connection with the Calamity, whatever form it took. They had made it a point to visit every household with a Gerudo, to speak with them and ask them questions, but to confirm they were female. It never sat right with Ishe that the Gerudo were targeted so often, but the Queen had said multiple times that it was not the gerudo who were to be punished, that they were just unfortunate in being one possible source of the calamity.

Ishe took a peek through the window, and saw her comrades being calm and as respectful as they could while in the gerudo home, and was happy that the Knights were not simply the town guard or a militia. She had heard of villages going nuts if a male gerudo was born, or something related to the Calamity was discovered. Witch hunts, lynch mobs, and chaos followed soon after that the Hylian knights would have to clean up. Her order were well trained, and carefully chosen by the Hero so that they could act as he does, Protectors of Hyrule and her peoples.

After this house, they’d have one more, and then they could start doing a sweep of the territory to see if any dark magic had been uncovered, or some ancient artifact tampered with. Most were well known, discovered by either the hero or the scouts of the kingdom, but there was always more to be discovered. Ishe turned to watch her comrades exit the house, and nodded to them “Next house?”

They shook their head, looking to ishe with a hard gaze “get the captain, we have a possible lead. A family on the edge of town with two daughters, one of which is always covered in heavy fabric. Apparently due to burns, no one has ever seen her face.” He said, turning to head to the next house.

“And what if it’s just some poor girl with burns?” ishe asked, not doubting the lead but still questioning the seriousness.

“Then we apologize and compensate for the trouble. No stone left unturned.” Said the knight as he knocked on the next door, and Ishe ran off to get the captain.

_______

You had last seen your family but a few days ago, wasting no time in your exodus from the home to the mountains, where you would be spending the next few months at best on your own. Your sister had given you one of her bows (One easier for your less developed muscles to pull and use). Your father had handed you a blade, one handed down to him by his father Rabaldi, and his father Rabaldi, and so on and so forth. Your mother had nothing more to give than supplies, a heavy cloak, and a hug that was soon shared by your whole family. Your body had lost the warmth you had felt from the embrace, but you still held onto it in your heart, pulling the cloak tighter to your body as a cool wind blew against you, the rise of the hill soon to give way to the mountain path you would be forced to take, one discovered by your sister in one of her expeditions.

She said that it would lead, after a few days, to an abandoned hunter’s lodge, one that hadn’t seen use for decades from the looks of it. Sure enough, after spending a few nights huddled near a fire set up in the crevices of the mountain path to avoid being seen, you came upon it. It was rotted and brittle, rain and wind having wounded the once useful structure to near non functionality. You say near however, because the Hunting lodge was built into the side of the mountain, the interior opening up into a sizable cave. All the wood inside was rotted, a harsh gust of wind away from collapsing.

Your supplies would last you perhaps three weeks, before you would have to rely on what you could hunt and gather. Your body was sore from the journey, the exertion and mountain air taking more out of you than you could admit without shame. Even your father’s sword, which had been forged for a small Hylian man, was heavy in your arms and almost unwieldable. The few days you had spent traveling to this location told you how ill equipped you were to defend yourself, and how much of a burden you would have been had you stayed to fight with your family.

You sent a prayer to the goddesses to protect your family, then tried to decide where to begin on your survival. When your foot fell through the flooring and made you trip through a wall, ripping through like it was paper, you decided that fixing up your shelter would be required.

______

Ishe watched as the captain stood before the large Gerudo woman, the mother of the household that sat upon a hill like a throne. The captain spoke with authority and power, and Ishe could tell the Gerudo was staying strong but still felt intimidated by the smaller woman. “For the last time, my other daughter went off with my sister, to go back home to connect with her culture. That girl, too much time spent around Hylians, all she does is read books and chores. She needed to get in touched with her history.” The Gerudo mother said, annoyed at having to defend her claim.

The captain was annoyed, pursuing the investigation further “And do you know what road your sister was taking, or perhaps what town they’d stop in along the way?”

The woman shook her head “I never ask my sister what path she plans to take, she always changes it half way there. I just trust her enough to know she’ll make it and keep my Esi safe. Now, any other questions, or can I go back to my work? Winter will come whether you knights are here or not.”

Ishe stood on edge, not comfortable with someone being so curt with the captain, but when the Lead Knight nodded and turned to leave, Ishe was surprised enough to simply follow dumbly. When they reached the forest at the edge of the farms territory, the captain looked to her assembled troops and said “Something is off. Keep an eye on this family. Either they’re hiding something, or protecting someone. Either way, it’s something we can’t ignore if it’s related to the calamity.” She said, then pointed to Ishe and male knight named Dolom “You two, once we leave the village to investigate the territory, return in disguise and settle into the village. You’ll keep an eye on the villagers, and this family especially, and watch for any odd behavior or changes. For all we know, the entire village could be lying to us.”

Ishe and Dolom saluted, understanding the plan, then as they walked off, they looked at each other a bit surprised, Ishe smiling and extending her hand “We better come up with a convincing cover story huh?”

________

Two weeks had passed, the first two weeks on your own, and though the homesickness had come and gone in waves, you felt it was at its weakest as you looked over your renovations to the hunting lodge. It wasn’t anything to be too proud of, infact your father would likely have burned it down rather than congratulate you, but it would stay standing, keep you warm and dry, and serve to keep unwanted attention away.

With shelter secured, you now had to worry about your dwindling supplies, and what you would do the pass the long period of self isolation that you now were forced to experience.

>Focus on your skills as a hunter, learning how to master your sister’s bow and the stealth of a hunter. You would need to work on how you carry your weight, how to track your pray, and remain unseen and unheard as you wait for the proper kill. You would also familiarize yourself with the beasts of the natural world, but mundane and monstrous, by sheer virtue of exposure.

>Focus on your strength and martial skill, using your Father;’s blade to develop the body of a warrior to take on greater beasts that would provide you greater ustennace, that could not be taken down by mere bow and arrow. You would train your strength and stamina, and be forced to familiarize yourself with the pain of battle as you took on those creatures that hunters could not claim as their prey.

>using the resources within the natural world and within the mountain, and your growing skills as a craftsmen, begin to create traps and tools, perhaps even weapons and armor to allow you to weild your greater intelligence against the natural world. In time, you could learn to master the craftsmen’s ability to forge an answer to any problem, and your body will naturally grow harder alongside your cleverness.

>You managed to take a single page of reading with you in your mad dash to escape to the mountains, a rune that you had seen used by the Bokoblin shamans to call upon primal and unrefined magics. Given time, you could decipher its meaning and use, and from there, use it as a foundation to expand your knowledge of the more primitive magics that still stood free of the Queen’s grasp and control. With such spells, you could perhaps create food from the earth, and even have the creature of the wild provide for you, as well as find means of keeping yourself warm with magical flame.

With sword in hand, and magical script emblazoned on the other, you set to work on your journey of obtaining power. Initially, you had reasoned that focusing on purely magical ability would be enough for your purposes, as with it you could bend the will of the natural world to your own, with the path to greater feats of magical aptitude leading to the possibility of great manifestations of fire, the summoning of storms, and the creation of constructs. However, such mastery and ability would never be achieved on your own, isolated without the knowledge of masters and the learned to guide you. So in addition to your magical studies and experiments, you would train your body, forge your muscle and skill into potent weapons that could be relied upon when magic alone was insufficient or too slow for your desires. As you studied and pondered the symbol you had discovered from the Bokoblin tribe, you moved rubble and stones back and forth, training muscle groups and carefully developing your stamina to allow for longer and more potent workouts over time.

As you expanded the runes available to you, using the first to coax out and reveal the runes hidden within the natural world and its phenomena, you practiced with the blade, learning how best to wield it with your stature and growing strength. Dummies made of dead wood soon turn to carved targets, wrapped in armor of leaves then soon leathers, all facing your growing skill and power with steel. Alongside all of this, you hunted the creature of the night, first beginning with the wild boar that marched along the mountain paths and the forest valleys. They were for the most part, easy to hunt, but each provided a decent enemy to fight if attacked directly. They were beasts of muscle and power, focused into their frontal charge that brought the danger of their tusks to anything unfortunate to be in their way. Your first few attempts at combat had ended with an injured leg, and nearly a torn open stomach. You had slain the boar, but for a few weeks you were unable to go out and attempt such combat, relying on magic and what you knew of hunting to take down the prey. However, it was these few weeks that gave you the greatest breakthrough in your attempts of growing more powerful, as you began to truly experiment with your runes.

Use them, you could create elemental effects to shroud your weapons in ice, fire, wind, or earth. Each had a use, and only allowed you more experimentation. Soon you were slaying the simple boars in direct combat with ease, at first merely shrouding your father’s blade in magical power, but then enhancing your own physical abilities for brief instances. Soon, you became able to strike down the boars with a single blow of your fist when weaved in the elemental power of earth. You moved on to greater prey, the mblin of the forest. These creatures did treat you as the Bokoblins did, and struck out at you just like any creature that entered their territory. They were dangerous, and had you not discovered how to harden your skin by weaving it in ice or stone, you would have been more seriously hurt. However, it was no easy fight, and your first encounter with the creature took everything you had to claim victory, but you did indeed win. You did not slay it though, as it was still a thinking creature, you instead left after the duel. You would fight that same Moblin six more times, the last being a fight thrust upon you as it invaded your camp, but after its loss, it no longer challenged you, and instead began to leave you offerings from its own hunting trips.

In exchange, you built it a shelter, a simple one, but one that it greatly appreciated. It acknowledged your strength as its superior, but soon came to appreciate what gifts you could provide for it, eliminating the lingering urges of revenge that you had sensed lingering in its heart. Three more Moblin soon followed, all cowed and all shown the benefits of having you as a neighbor and as the alpha of the territory. You did not particularly care for the effect you were having on their commonly solitary society, but you felt that the benefit it provided you and the time it granted you was worth the breach of anthropological ethics. Besides, you never taught them the means in which you created the structures, and they already possessed a rudimentary knowledge of either trade or weapons crafting themselves, so your interference would have been minimal at worst.

By the time the cold winter winds began to approach, your body had grown much more muscular, and you had managed to create a comfortable and sustainable life within the mountains. You felt confident in your ability, your swordsmanship able to easily handle the moblins, and your spells and strength making the fights now a trivial affair. Even when a powerful breed of moblin arrived, one of black skin that all the other moblin cowered from. I had come from a completely different region, having heard of you somehow and come to challenge you for the region. It did not accept defeat, and in a conflict that nearly saw you thrown to your death from the top of a cliff, you had slain the Black Moblin, and claimed the thick leather bracers decorated with Bokoblin runes as your own, finding they increased your strength through magical means. Studying these runes proved difficult however, as they functioned on a set you had never seen before and that were unrelated to the elemental runes you had mastered, but you were sure in time you would master these as well.

As the first snow began to fall, you had grown even stronger, your youthful body sporting a chiseled frame, a short red beard decorated your face, and your hair having grown so long that it required you tie it in a bun in order to ensure it did not hamper you in any way. Free from your disguise, you felt unrestricted, and would sometimes enjoy the act of simply listening to your own voice echo off the cave walls. In the wake of the victory against the black Moblin, you had unleashed a deep resonant roar, and felt a surge of joy at not having to worry about the other villagers, about the reveal of your nature, to stand truly as yourself. You felt a surge of pride and a growing desire to continue your climb towards greater strengths, the rush of victory and discovery calling to you more than any of the simple joys on your family farm had ever done.

But you had conquered all the common foes within your territory, nothing could stand in your way. However, in your time, you had heard of greater prey… No, not prey, greater combatants that claimed the position of great beasts or true apex predators in the local biosphere that none could face. You had even been forced to hide while one hunted you, an act that humbled you early on. But now, heart racing on the high of your accomplishments, you thought it time to claim your place amongst the strongest in this region, and to truly challenge yourself.

It demanded respect, and it seemed able to command the swine of the valley through some instinctual fealty. You would hunt this creature, claim this land as your own, and where others failed, you would succeed in slaying it, reclaiming the skeleton of some fallen warrior decorating it's back to be properly buried.

>Awakening as the season changes, a mass of muscle and brutish power exited from a cave you had found blocked off by stone and rock until in an explosive exit, a young Hinox marching out to devour as much as it could so that it could build up a supply of fat so it could return what it loved to do most, sleep. No other creature in the forest could claim the raw physical power it wielded, and it threatened even your Moblin subordinates. However, it was a stupid creature that lacked any true combat experience. You would slay this invader, warning all other such creatures to heed your borders, and claim the necklaces of equipment that it wore as decoration.

You would hunt this creature, claim this land as your own, and where others failed, you would succeed in slaying it, reclaiming the skeleton of some fallen warrior decorating it's back to be properly buried.
I think there may be some insight to gain from burying that warrior. Perhaps it's spirit could thank us? If not, we'll have done a good deed still.

Ishe let out a grown as she settled back into the room, letting herself be warmed by the fireplace. Dolom and her home was a recent vacancy, a house settled in the village itself, where they had spent the last season living simple lives as traveling merchants that would stay until the winter months passed. And Ishe was already done, unable to stomach much more of this simple village life while her comrades searched the countryside for any signs of the calamity. More than once Dolom and her had talked about the possibility that the entire expedition to this village was a waste of time, a waste of their training and efforts, but without the captain's word they couldn’t go home to the capital.

So, they waited. They kept their ears to the village gossip, infiltrated the social circles, slowly sinking into the daily life of the people as they waited for them to accept their false identities, and for hints of any lies spoken to them in the initial investigation. Ishe had luckily been taught how to sew early on in life, and after some time shaking off the rust, she seamlessly found herself in a sewing circle. Dolom had an easier time, joining the guard and dealing with minor irritations like Bokoblin scouts. The worst he had to deal with was pretending to be as well trained and competent as the locals, a skill that was admittedly difficult with how long they had trained.

Keeping her own skills fresh was what truly concerned Ishe, having to train in the basement of their home during the knight when she found the chance to avoid breaking their cover and avoid discovery. It had all grown tiresome, especially as she heard her comrades had recently cleared out a Bokoblin tribe, burning down their temple to some swine deity that shared to many traits with the calamity to be left alone. A not very glorious victory, with how simple Bokoblins were to fight, but more exciting than feigning interest in which of the villages were involved with some mundane controversy.

When Dolom came rushing in, he did not look to her as he locked the door, ignoring the fact Ishe had raised a crossbow and leveled it at his heart when he had suddenly arrived. As she put it down, he turned and closed the windows, cutting off the outside village so they would not hear his report. “Remember that gerudo girl who was sent out with their aunt when we arrived?” he asked, in a whisper to avoid any eavesdroppers from hearing this talk. He continued as ishe quietly nodded “Well, according to the guard, she had a weird interest in the Bokoblins. Apparently would study their culture, and even interact with them peacefully on occasion, trading and being allowed in their territory.

This waved red flags in ishe’s mind, as she remembered her education. While bokoblins mostly attacked due to the relatively under defended nature of Human villages compared to equivalent bokoblin settlements, they were fiercely territorial and always attacked outsiders, either seeing them as potential scouts or potential sources of sadistic entertainment. They never traded or welcomed Humans, save for a few rare instances and exceptions. Ishe stood up and felt a rush of excitement that was tainted with dread. Excitement that her boring assignment was over, dread as to the reason why.

You carried yourself up the face of the mountain, using the carved path as merely a guide as you climbed the sheer cliff and found the odd perch to rest when needed. The path up to the Lynel’s den was where the creature would expect an enemy to come from, and would very quikly become aware of your approach if you used it. While you were more powerful both physically and magically, you did not want to simply tackle a powerful foe head on like that. Seeing the Lynel’s interactions with other beasts made it quite clear that it did not hold back, and its power outclassed anything else that lived in this area, save for perhaps the two other great beasts that had recently arrived. You knew that, had you waited, the Lynel would have come into conflict with one or both of the new creatures, either hunting the great boar as a means of reestablishing its place above the swine species, or attacking the great cyclopean brute to eliminate a rival apex predator.

A roar tore through the sky, one that shook you to your bones, as you peeked your head over the edge of the valet claimed by your target. There it stood, a great muscular beast of feral power holding suggestions of humanity atop of a great platform of a quadruped beast. Fire red decorated its neck like a great plume of an inferno, framing a scarred and fierce face that looked down upon its latest fallen rival, a Silver Moblin that had foolishly come up in a likely bid to prove its power to the world. Now however it was a mere corpse, soon to be food for the true king of this field.

Held in its hand, hoisted like it weighed nothing to the great beast, was a great cudgel that had crushed the torso of the moblin into a thin bag of jellied organs and powdered bone. It was a large clump of metal, as if the beast had seen the art of metallurgy and found the concept of shaping and sharpening the purified iron as a waste of time and merely pulled the mass from the forge as a singular piece. The stains of blood and lack of relevant structural damage supported this feeling you thought, as the Lynel dropped its weapon to begin tearing apart its food, the weapon shaking the earth and sending dirt exploding out in all directions.

One of the beast's horns was broken, while the other tipped in what looked to be a gold cap with a feather hanging from it, an oddly gentle decoration for such a barbaric creature that showed just what kind of intelligence lay within the beast's head. This would not be a mere hunt, nor would it be like facing the undisciplined Moblins whose intelligence was only the barest of sapience. This was a warrior, born in a body that nature had forged to be great and powerful. The fact that, according to rumor and written accounts, that there were even stronger Lynels of differing hues seemed impossible, as the display in front of you spoke the language of power so fluently you could believe it to be the one who first spoke such words.

The awe of your opponent though only made you more adamant in your plan to conquer it, not merely to prove your strength and further improve, but to also secure your future from a creature that would eventually decide to hunt you down for the threat you posed. Had you waited another month or so, this beast would have attacked you in your sleep, or ambuhed you in the midst of your hunt, in order to secure its position as the master of the realm. At this point, before it registered you as a true threat, you held the greatest advantage you could possess against the creature, its complacence.

But you would fight this warrior as a warrior, and thus you had to create a plan of attack that would secure your victory. You needed to enact your first move.

>Attempt to sneak up behind the creature, and taking advantage of its anatomy, mount its back and strike at its body in a flurry before it has time to adjust and retaliate.

>March into the open and honor this creature’s might, first meeting its gaze, then entering open conflict with it. The creature deserves your respect, and when it charged to attack, you would hold the advantage thanks to your smaller stature and training, allowing you a chance at a grievous counter attack.

>Distract the beast with a diversionary stone, then attempt to set it ablaze with your runic fire, beginning your assault without warning and with an opening strike that would disorent and hopefully inhibit the actions of the beast.

>wait for the beast to fall asleep, then sneak into its territory quietly. When you had the chance, you would strike it with all your strength, to open the fight with a devastating attack that paid no respect or consideration to this beasts prowess and ability.

It's no easy task to take it down, I'd say this seems like the most reasonable option.

Honor aside, the others might not let us spare it. It may very well fight to the death, should we choose any other options.

This beast was a warrior, a being of great power and will that had seen the conquest of countless other opponents and prey that had found themselves in its path. It was a storm forged into the shape of muscle and leonid features that had likely lived longer than yourself, streaks of gray being seen in its hairs that served to add an intimidating venerability to it rather than suggest weakness or no longer being in its prime. This was an opponent, not the target of a hunt or a mundane threat to be silenced, and you would honor this noble scholar of power in the only way you could.

Hopping down into the valley without trying to hide yourself, the creature’s eyes immediately shot to you, and almost before you could register its eye on you it had already grasped its cudgel and prepared to lift it for the fight, until you held up your hands, and sat down. It paused, meeting your eyes with a warrior’s concentration as it watched you cross your legs and sit upon its grass. You nodded to the moblin, and sat patiently, looking at it with respect but defiance. The creature seemed to hold itself, slowly considering things as a low growl was heard deep within it, a rumble felt in your stomach from its resonance. Just when it seemed ready to charge at you to attack, it seemed to look deeper into your eyes, and as you felt something stir in your heart, the Lynel warrior dropped its cudgel and nodded towards you, lowing itself so it was resting on the grass, and continued to devour it feast calmly.

Despite the sound of tearing flesh and breaking bones, it ate with a dignity and silent authority that reminded you of the stories told of kings, even as he punctured the shifting torso of the Moblin to release the pulverized innards onto the grass. It ate without hurry, without caution or paranoia, as it knew nothing would interrupt its earned meal. It was a lord breaking bread in his castle, a great conqueror partaking in its spoils, and despite your presence as a challenger it did not pay you any mind now that it had returned to eating. You had earned acknowledgement from this King of Beasts, and while in its court it treated you as not a pest, but a true presence. Yet it felt no fear towards you, even as it could smell the magic that rolled off your body or could see the iron cords of muscle beneath your clothing, because it held more magic and more muscle than you by a simple magnitude or more.

You made to eat as well, breaking bread to consume preserved meat, cooked boar, along with what little bread and jam you had left. While your feast was much smaller than its own, the smell of bread and jam, along with preserved food earned you your own small victory. For you consumed luxury items, items that caught the interest of the Lynel, if only passingly. It would not beg or even consider the items, but you knew that it did have a passing fancy to the processed goods seemingly only created by the Hylian peoples.

The self-exiled Scholar broke bread with the King of the Valley, both eating their fill and basking in the sun as future opponents but temporary acquaintances. Once both of your meals were done and gone, you both had time to digest to ensure the meal would not hamper your abilities in the fight, a silent agreement made when you began to eat. You knew that had you not eaten, the Beast would have begun to fight as soon as it had finished, but it now simply basked in the sun, its eyes closed as it let the wind blow through its mane and the distant sounds of life play around it. You did much the same, looking up to the sky to watch the distant clouds shift and flow along their paths, a sense of peace surrounding you that you had thought only possible in the company of your family or in contemplative isolation.

However, you had come here to challenge this great warrior, and eventually you stood up and began to stretch. Seeing this, the Lynel rose from its resting position, and began to masterfully loosen and prepare its body for the fight. Snaps of metal wire were heard, the reverberation of its great musculature snapping and shifting like the rumble of an oncoming storm. Every inch of the King of the valley was a carefully maintained weapon, and now as it readied for a duel with you, you could tell that it held no fear of losing to you. Though it paid you the courtesy of treating you like a warrior rather than suicidal prey, it held no ounce of doubt that you would soon be its next meal.

Finally it lifted its great cudgel, and you lifted your sword, and locked eyes with you once more. It bowed its head with you doing the same, both it and you holding this for but a second, before rising and taking a starting position for the fight. There was a deathly quiet the surrounded you and it, then with the rising sound of the earth quaking coming from its chest, it let out a great and mighty roar that you thought may have killed you were you a weaker man as it charged forward, paws leaving great scars in the dirt and its great metal weapon cutting through the air.

>Call upon the earth, creating great pillars of stone to take away the Lynels ability to charge and allow you the benefit of cover from both its vision and immediate attack. Use this to attack and fade away, using your smaller size to your advantage as you try to whittle away at the beast.

>Call upon the wind, shrouding yourself in a cloak of flowing air to increase your speed and slip between the attacks of the great beast. Weave and dodge, and have your blade move like the wind, cutting in graceful movements as you maneuvered around the mountain of muscle.

>Call upon the fires, sending a rolling inferno forward with you in its wake to meet the beast head on like a raging wildfire. The fire and heat would force it to pay head to both the consuming flames and your brave charge, and might catch the great warrior of guard that a small opponent would fight like a beast of its size.

>Call upon the waters, and slink into the fog and mist to combat this great engine of battle as a fading ghost. Limit its vision and ability to track your motions, as you wait to deliver a single powerful strike to cut through its defenses like a great wave crushing a defiant stone.

Like a crashing mountain or a war god’s fist, the cudgel came down with killing intent once the shadow of the lynel had fully engulfed you. A few months ago you would have been left a simple smear across the grass, but now you rolled from the attack that went on to brutalize the earth and left a deep cut that sent a cascade of rock and dirt flying. Before you were even all the way back onto your feet, the Cudgel was swinging back towards you and forced you jumped forward and land in the dirt on your stomach, then roll to the side to avoid getting crushed as the Lynel brought its weapon down like a meteor where your torso had just been a second before. You had but a second of space now between you and death, and you decided to take advantage of it before you were forced once more into a desperate series of acrobatics to merely survive.

Drawing through the air the symbol of earth, you felt the primal magic surge first in the air, then through your heart, then back into the rune as you slammed it into the ground. As the Lynel charged, great pillars of stone punctured through the ground all around you to halt the Lynel’s momentum, the beast crashing through one before being stopped by a second and roaring in frustration. With this chance, you took off in a run, readying your blade as you broke from the King’s vision. As it began to swing its weapon through the stone, sometimes cutting clean through and other times requiring two or three strikes to break the stone pillars, you came from behind and flicked your blade out at its back leg. As your blade cut into its flesh, you found it to be like trying to slice a tree’s truck, thick and powerful flesh and muscle resisting your attack beyond what simple flesh should be able to. Still, you heard a grunt of pain from the beast, and as its metal maul crashed through the stone pillars behind it, you ran and took cover, before running forward at its unprotected stomach and sending the point straight for it.

Your blade would have found its home within the innards of the beast, but your opponent was also a warrior, and shifted its weight to the side, sending the tip of your blade through its side, but piercing nothing of importance. Blood poured from the wound, but you knew the attack did not critically wound your enemy, so you were forced to pull the blade out and rolled beneath the quadruped body of the Lynel to avoid its front paws. Sending your blade out for a quick slash at its legs, then one at its stomach, you were forced to sprint from under your enemy to avoid its rending claws.

On instinct, you summoned the power of the earth and caused a boulder to grow to your right, then saw it explode from the impact of the great iron Cudgel sending debris and shrapnel towards you, sending you rolling to the side and decorating your exposed skin with cuts and marks from being struck. However, you managed to once more disappear into your summoned terrain, gaining distance from the Lynel and more importantly time to think. However, then the shadows began to shift, casting at angles that did not make sense for the time of day. At first, you thought perhaps the day was ending but the sun had barely moved in the flurry of action, and realization hit you.

With a challenging roar, the Lynel began to gather magical energies above it, spark and flames spewing forth as it charged its spell. It spoke no words, and there was no runic symbol to be seen. The Lynel used raw magic power for this spell, and felt the area drown in this arcane ability as it’s eyes focused on you, threatening light bleeding off like smoke from its pupils as it readied to bring down its power like a flowing star.

As a great orb of fire fell towards you, roaring its own battle cry of infernal holocaust as it cut through the stone pillars like there were made of sand, you brought up your own magical power. Drawing runes of earth and water, you poured your will into spells you needed to survive, forging a layered shell of rock and ore between you and the spell as a spear of water shot forth to pierce the heart of the artificial sun that sought your end. You had no time to watch, as you maintained both spells for but a second longer, before opening a fissure in the earth to engulf you. As the spell collided, you felt a wave of heat crash onto your shield and begin to melt through it, before you closed the fissure and sank deeper into the earth, escaping the roar of death that would have likely killed you even beneath the earth had you not sent the magical water to destroy its core.

Above you, you heard the crash of the Lynel, crushing the area you had once been and now searching for you. You had maybe a few seconds before it would figure out where you were and focus its anger towards the earth itself.

>Attempt to create a pit beneath the Lynel, trapping it for a brief time. With its movements restricted, you may be able to bring your blade to bear on its upper body and more vital areas.

>Use this time to begin the construction of a much larger spell, moving through the earth to carve the rune of your own fire spell that would rival your enemies. While you had not the raw magical power, you had the focus and technique to perhaps reach its level.

>Using wind and earth, find a strong piece of earth made of stone and ore to give it the illusion of life. It would function like a golem, but be only capable of a single order upon creation, which would be to attack the Lynel. With two attackers, you would find more openings to exploit.

>Your enemy’s cudgel was a great threat, one you had to eliminate. With a concentrated use of wind and fire, you could send a spell out to encase the weapon with fire and heat it to the point of forcing the Lynel to drop it. If this worked, the enemy would be forced to rely on their natural weapons, and you may be able to use the Cudgel later should you survive.

Fighting its raw magic power with ours seems risky, as he doesn't even need to cast it like we do. He'd probably shatter the golem really easily, too, so this option feels like the best to me.

No time to lose and with very little space for error, your hands cut through the air as you willed the runic magics of the natural world to form and become empowered by the base elements of existence. First came fire, element of creation, destruction, and energy. You first called forth the licking tendrils of the inferno before you, the creation sucking at the oxygen around you in this confined space as it gluttonously sought to forever fuel itself without regard to anything around it. As you heard the earth be struck, and sensed the Lynel having already discovered your location, you grabbed hold of the fire and pressed it down, compressing it into a star of barely contained energy that baked the flesh of your hands. Next, you drew upon the air its runic symbol, calling forth the element of motion, freedom, and renewal. Weaving a sphere of wind stretched into a current around the compressed star, the air soon ignited and you held a swirling mass of fire that fed into itself and burned with a greater heat and intensity.

Just as a chunk of the earth tore away with the strength of the Lynel, you unleashed the spell directly at the enemy's face, then smiled as you saq it bring its weapon up to guard just as you desired. The fire collided with the metal of the Cudgel, seeming to anchor itself to the weapon ,and then began to surround and spin around and along its length. As soon as the spell dissipated however, the Lynel’s free hand shot forward into your underground respite, grabbed hold of your leg and pulled you free of the earth. Before you could bring your sword to bear onto its hand, you were thrown up into the air, flying high like a stone tossed by a child. Weightlessness soon came for you, and the false hope that you may have learned to fly, as ridiculous as it was, briefly formed in your head before you began to fall, victim to the world gravity like all other things as you fell towards the dangerous beast below.

The King of the Valley prepared for your return, hefting its weapon with the intent to strike you as you came down. It reminded you of the game played in your village by the young children, where one would lob a stone or ball made of reeds at another, and the target would then attempt to strike it away as far as possible. A pang of homesickness formed in your mind as you imagined summer days and grassy fields filled with the laughter of children, until a roar of pain came from the beast and refocused your mind.

It now held its hand, whose flesh had melted and begun to adhere to one another along the fingers due to the intense and powerful heat of the weapon. WHile the beast seemed barely damaged by this, it had been forced to drop its white hot weapon and had lost its focus. Focus that had once prevented you from escaping this one way trip to the next life, and that had prevented you from turning this unfortunate end into a powerful advantage. Readying your sword, you aimed it straight at the neck of the creature below you and angled your entire body so that the full weight of your fall would press against the hilt of your blade, sending its tip as deep as could be possible into the body of the Lynel.

You partially thought that perhaps this would be the end, that through your own cleverness you had pulled out a victory. When your sword impaled the open palm of the beast, rather than its neck flesh, you chastised yourself for such a foolish idea as an easy victory. Your blade had come down and been caught by the open palm of the beast, your blade stabbing through the palm and out the other end and was effectively halted from causing truly lethal damage to your enemy. However, you turned this to your advantage, and placing your feet against its arm, you used all your strength to turn and push the blade. With the sound of cutting flesh and pained roar, your blade was freed and took with it three of the Lynels fingers on that hand, leaving on its pointer finger and thumb, along with only enough hand to support those said extremities. You did not escape with your slight unpunished however, and felt the crashing of a fist against your back that sent you first flying through a stone pillar, then tumbling and rolling through the open territory where your opponent had cleared the area of all obstacles.

Your body screamed for respite but you could not not grant that request as your rolled back onto your feet, and brought your blade up to block the follow up attack of claws, sent to cleave your flesh from your body. Like a knight from the childhood tales told by your father, you met the beast in a contest of sharpened blades, his claws versus your sword, as sparks flew in all directions. Here your small size was a great boon, as while far more powerful the Lynel’s attacks require the movement of much longer and heavier arms, while you had far less distance and mass to reposition. It still taxed your skill and mind to meet and divert each strike that would have seen your head removed from your shoulders, but you did not falter as you kept your mind focused and your eyes scanning your enemy for any change.

When an opening arrived, a longer than average lull in the storm of ripping and tearing claws, you surged forward with an attack of your own, slashing at the shoulder of the Beast’s front leg. Metal cut into flesh, and you felt your sword cut deep and long into the meat of the muscle whose mass and depth likely exceeded your body. The beast seemed to stumble on the now weaker side, but its roar soon came back and it once more sent a hurricane of chopping and rending claws your way, forcing you back onto the defensive.

You had raked its stomach, you had burned its hand, you had removed the fingers of the other hand, and now you had stolen a piece of its foreleg. However still the beast was seemingly insurmountable. Where would you send your next attack, where would you have your blade attempt to cut and further hamper the enemy assaulting you.

>Attempt to fully take its melted hand, removing its dominate manipulator and leaving it with only two claws to attack you with, besides its legs of course. Without its hands, you could finally gain an advantage that would stick throughout the fight rather than a momentary one.

> Send your blade to the weakened leg of the Lynel, focusing on taking away its ability to move as easily and limit its ability to reposition and chase you down. You would be able to gain distance far easier, and could perhaps maneuver around the beast with less worry to its expert footwork

>Your blade must strike with the intent to kill, not maim. While skill could show this enemy your threat as a rival, it chose to show only killing intent, so you must do the same and cast your blade to its unprotected gut. Without its cudgel to keep you away, it would find itself unable to properly react to your viscous attack at its innards.

>You must destroy its ability to perceive the world, and thus react to it. Using both blade and fire, you would risk an attempt at the beast's own face and eyes. Cutting blade and cauterizing fire would find those soft organs, soft even on such a powerful beast, easy targets to damage or destroy.

Going for the leg seems more accessible, and will allow us to strike more efficiently, whether to wound, or to kill, if we choose to.

Alright, I got super distracted today. I’ll work to have to post out tomorrow.
>>
Sword met raking claws as you met each attack with a parry of your own, your self taught style now being shown its many inadequacies when brought to bear against a living and intelligent opponent. You attempted to adjust as the fight went on, to adapt and learned as rapidly as you could, but your opponent would not mercifully allow such on the fly adjustments to go unpunished, and you felt a chunk of your shoulder be torn open as a set of claws first hooked into the flesh then yanked strips of its away. You roared out in pain yet did not allow it to fully distract you, using the brief opening after your opponent's attack to send your own straight at the wound you had already created. Once more metal separated flesh, and you heard a snap so deep that it shook you and the earth around you, the muscle in the leg shuddering as something within was cut. The great beast fell to its knees as its leg could no longer support its weight, a crucial tendon cut and rendered unusable, a titan brought low.

You would have possibly taken a second to bask in the achievement, but the beast would not allow such a thing to occur unpunished. Forming a single mass with its fists, it swung with its full power in an attack that left hurricane winds in its wake that collided with you. First it struck your sword that you had brought to bear expecting a clawed strike, then it pressed that blade against your body where it cut into your flesh as it was pressed into it. Then the feeling of being struck by an avalanche was felt against your chest as you heard a crack within your core shake you, then you once more felt gravity briefly let go of you as you went flying many meters away, choking on the air forced from your body as you made every attempt to breathe. As you struck the earth leaving a scar as your body tore through it, you attempted to keep from thrashing in your tumble to prevent further pain, but regardless of your attempts you still felt rocks and stones strike your body and back in particular as you came to a slow stop.

You felt pain all over your body, a collection of screams from every nerve as you pushed yourself up from the dirt as you knew the fight was not over. You stumbled as you felt your consciousness wane from the overload of sensory input, but you focused and stood thanks to your sword, which had been bent noticeably from the impact. The fact it had not shattered was fortunate, but now you would have to spend time if you survived the fight fixing the blade for it to be properly useful. For now, it still had a sharp edge despite the scratches and chips so it would have to do, you looking upon your enemy as you felt your wounded arm go limp from pain and damage.

The Lynel was suffering from the attack you had managed to make against it, its heavy body attempting to balance only on three legs and seeming to almost be incapable of the action either due to the great weight or due to it having no idea how to accomplish such a feat. You saw it get close, but then gave up as it let out a panting breath then glared at you. It was now maimed, and it knew that very few things could see this wound heal properly. Its claws dug into the earth as it adjust its position, then it seemed ready to continue the fight, a silent understanding that it would fight to the death in this confrontation of Apex predators.

You however, felt something within you. Another stirring of your heart, that whispered to you that not all things need end in death.

>Make to end the fight, both you and the Lynel had received grievous wounds that need to be cared for, and any further might see one of your die while the survivor is left grossly weakened to the world.

>Charge forward to face the Lynel in close combat once more, meet this brave warrior face to face and on his terms so that no matter how this battle ends, it will be as equals.

>Call upon the earth to form around the Lynel, creating a cage of stone and rock to limit its ability to resist and counter attack, and go in for the kill now. The practical move of a predator.

>Call upon the fires to assault the Lynel from a range, staying beyond its effective range of counter attack, whittle down the beast until it finally falls.

Let's try and lay down our weapon, so it may understand we don't wish to fight further. It might be really pissed at us and attack us, or want a warrior's death, so let's stay alert and ready to protect ourselves with earth magic.

The Lynel straightened its posture, baring claw and fang at you in defiance as it readied itself for whatever final charge you would bring against it, spirit unbroken and with power to spare until the fires within either your heart or his own sputtered out and died with the beating of its tender’s heart. It wanted you to charge back into the fray, it wanted to face your blade and magic until its bones were dust and its flesh reduced to fertilizer in the fields. No thought of stopping went through its mind, not a single second of hesitation or consideration was made as it helds its arms out wide, welcoming your attack like one would a lost friend. All it wished to do was fight, and for either you to die and further prove its right of rule over the valley as the epitome of strength, or to do the same for you in respect to the natural order of the wild. Here there was no politics, there was no diplomacy, no advisors or courtiers, no nobles or lineages, only the primal means of conquest. Your soul resonated with this beast as it met your eyes, the sight of this mighty warrior king undaunted by fate or death touching something deep within your soul on a level you could not compare to any other experience you had personally had. You had read of it though, read of explorers climbing to the tops of mountains only to look upon the mountains tops piercing the clouds, of sailors caught in the fury of a hurricane that pulled the waves high enough to block the skies, of men who could only watch as the primordial fury of a volcano was unleashed indiscriminately across the land in a single thunderous detonation. They had described the feeling of being caught in such circumstances, how it shook the foundations of their very being to bear witness to them, that something within these natural shows of power and majesty held within them some ephemeral ability to touch the very core of humanity's soul.

You felt true, undiluted, divine awe. The awe that simultaneously filled your heart with fire but made your body cold, one that made you feel mighty yet seemed to surround you in fathomless dread, a mixture of euphoria and terror that played upon the simple instincts of your baser mind, and in turn had those instincts calm the conscience thoughts and voice of your consciousness until only this singular moment could be appreciated. Without a second thought, you dropped your sword to the ground and locked eyes with the Lynel, who stared back at you confused and with a rising anger. This fight was more than a test of strength now you think, more than two beasts debating territory through claw and metallic edge, more than a meeting of those rare scholars of power.
(Cont)

>>5053511
On this day, you were met with a creature of truly awe inspiring strength, of tenacity and determination that could not be replicated by mere chance. As the Lynel grew to be near enraged at your apparent mocking of its desire to fight, you focused your gaze on its own, placing your hand on the open wound upon your shoulder that decorated your left side in red. A spark was felt in your core, that soon shot through your entire body before settling behind your eyes, where for a brief moment you thought you could see the very aura of power that still came from the beast king. As it seemed ready to roar, it’s eyes met yours, then looked past them to the spark resting behind your eyes...And then everything felt different.

No longer did you look at this warrior king as an intelligent beast, as a monstrous example of primal power and might, but as a peer, a fellow traveler on the road of power, a surprising comrade. In its eyes, where once there was a deadly respect, one that spoke of a desire to cut you down in recognition of your ability, now there was an understanding. It lifted its claws to its right shoulder, then dug them into its own flesh and dragged them down, mirroring your scar almost perfectly. It looked to you, a calm arising from beyond the storm of combat and battle lust, that spoke to you that reminded you of your family. A bond was formed, how you did not know, but you knew on some instinctual level that had anyone else, or even a slightly different version of you, attempted this they would have been slain for dishonoring the Lynel.

With this bond, there was no longer any hostility in the air. There was no need for it, not when the two fighters had silently agreed upon an equal tie born of equal skill and equal power. There was no need to taint it with foolish displays of pride, not between these two practitioners of battle. The Lionel lowered its claws and relaxed, magical energy forming around its hand as it placed it upon leg wound and began to focus the energies to knit its flesh and pull taut its now slack tendons so they could once more bear its weight. The logical thought to ask for it to share this power crossed your mind, a logical idea but one you quickly set aside as you laid yourself upon the grass, as it would not even entertain such an idea. You two would heal through your own means, through your own tools and tricks, and asking the other to use their magic on you would have merely weakened the still drying foundation of respect that had formed between the two of you. Instead you laid upon the grass and stared into the clear blue sky, breathing in the thinner air calmly and deeply so that you could recover your strength. You let your body relax in this period of peace, and with trust your brother in arms would not be so cowardly as to attack you in your sleep, you close your eyes and let exhaustion and the gentle breeze carry you into a dream.

Ishe rolled to the side and, seeing her enemy’s charge and the path it would take in her mind’s eye, brought her blade down on instinct and slew the charging bokoblin. Standing up, she flicked the blood off her blade and looked around the camp, seeing the rest of her comrades finishing up their purge. The captain had been quick to meet up with them once she had received their intel, and they had decided to investigate the tribe their target had apparently interacted with. What they found was a standard bokoblin tribe, save for a few things that confirmed the rumors. For one, the Bokoblins had access to crafts that were clearly human made, and second they had a highly organized system of storage where any other tribe would have left it piled to rot in the open. These Bokoblins had not only traded with this mystery Gerudo, but also learned and changed because of it, and this was a massive warning sign. Bokoblins never adapted like this, never grew more organized, save during the times of calamity.

The clap of thunder was heard, and Ishe looked out to the center of the village, seeing twelve Bokoblins with scrap iron armor and weapon being relieved of their heads, the captain standing in the middle of them, before she charged off again towards the center tent, where even Ishe could feel the twisting energies of primal magic shifting and forming. The shaman must be in there, and with no more targets for her to engage, she ran after the captain to provide backup that she reasoned would likely be unnecessary.

When she entered the tent, this was confirmed as the captain had already begun looking upon a great mural that had recently ben painted on a flat piece of stone within the large tent. As the Bokoblin shaman bled out on the floor, Ishe felt a chill of instinctual fear run down her spine as the contents of the mural were fully recognized. Crude images of bokoblins warriors slaughtering humans, Gorons, gerudo, and Zora who ran towards a feminine figure of light. Above the display of butchery, there were images of torture and sadistic play as monsters of all kinds came down on human warriors wielding weapons of light. However, in the center of it all, drawn in a crimson red with a hateful moon behind it, was the image of a giant boar demon lifting up a warrior above its head. The warrior's blood rained down onto the fleeing peoples, and his sword was broken in his hand, and the boar guard seemed ready to rip the fallen warrior into.

>>5053514
Swirling energies of shamanistic magic swirled in the room, and seemed to interact with the mural in a last second sadistic desire to cause fear and pain by the now dead Shaman, and the Mural began to move, incense smoke surrounding Ishe as she heard screams and smelt blood. The images moved, slaughter became real, and as she saw her comrades be cut down by great and powerful beasts, as she knelt in the blood soaked earth and looked up, a fear like she had neve felt before took hold of her mind. The calamity stood over her, great muscle looking as if one had forged the greatest of steels into the shape of a man and encased it in leather. She watched as it tore the hero in two, the scream of agony suddenly cut short as all ability to make sound was stolen from the guardian of everything Ishe fought to uphold.

Blood fell upon her, the boar demon throwing the two halves away with no more care than one would have for a broken toy. It looked down at her like she would a broken insect, and displayed to her a depth of hatred, sadism, bloodthirst, all mixed with mirth that told her everything she needed to know about this ancient evil before her. She knew she should simply crumble before it, her instincts told her to bow before this embodiment of tyranny and power in hopes it would deign to ignore her and let her live another day. Instead, she focused on the stories of the Hero and grabbed her blade, standing before the great devourer of peace, the shatterer of realms, the calamitous end. She leveled her sword at the beast, feeling fear fill her being like it was water within a thin clay pot. But it was held, and it was contained and formed into resolve by her will. She was a knight of Hyrule, and she would not buckle now or ever. She let out a scream that shifted into a roar of defiance, and charged at the Calamity as it laughed, then surged forward with all the violence and hatred of a war contained in a single strike.

Before it connected, Ishe found herself staring up at the tent’s ceiling. She almost shot right up in a battle haze, but was shoved right back down by the captain, who looked at her quietly until Ishe calmed down. The mural had been destroyed, smashed to pieces and the rubble burned until the surface of the stone was ashen black and made of cracked glass. Despite what she thought should be the case, Ishe did not feel relief at this. She looked up to the captain’s eyes, still shaking from her vision, and saw the captain nod to her. Whatever the captain had seen, and whatever Ishe had done in the haze of that vision, she knew the captain had gained some respect for the lower ranked knight.

This discovery was a cold comfort, as the roar of the Calamity rang in Ishe’s mind as if it was in the distance.

~~~~~~~
You woke from your dream with a start, rising from the grass and breathing deep as you felt whatever darkness that you had seen fade away. Already the memory of the dream fell away from your consciousness, the events disappearing into nothing, save a single pair of dark red eyes in the shadows staring at you, demanding something of you. You let out a sigh and looked around the field, hoping that image would fade with the rest of the dream. You were alone in the field, the Moblin now nothing more than a skeleton picked clean and left as a pile of bones that would likely serve as nothing more than decoration or trash. It was likely the Lynel had left, either to hunt, or merely exercise its body. You pushed to stand, feeling soreness in your body but knowing that it would have been far worse had you and the Lynel fought to the death.
Immediately, the entrance to the ruins caught your eye, a set of stairs that sank into the earth to a door that would lead to some chamber beneath the ground. From your brief time underground during the fight, you knew that the ruins must either be small or be very deep. Without thinking, you walked towards the ruins and down its steps, some desire to explore felt within your mind even as the action to do so happened without your direct will. On the heavy stone doors was the image of three goddesses, who you quickly bowed your head to in respect, before pushing the door open.
Within, there was a single hall that led to a large chamber lit by a hole in the furthest wall, an opening into the cliff side that you would not have been able to see from below or during your ascent. Along the walls of the halls, you saw mural after mural depicting similar events, but with different details. A hero facing a dark evil. Most times this evil was a boar shaped demon, though some looked to be dark shamans or some other creature of unknown origin. Most times there was a single hero, sometimes they were accompanied by a bow wielding ally, and there was even one where four heroes of different colors stood before their enemy.
Some lands were great oceans, others depicted great engines, and one depicted the hero was a wolf ridden by an impish creature. However they all shared the same theme, of the hero beating and casting down the dark enemy. Again and again, it seemed all these stories told the same tale, but merely altered in a few ways or details. For some reason, irritation rose in your heart even though you thought that you should appreciate the stories. It was good conquering evil, but at the same time you felt your pride had been harmed in some unseen way.
The hall of heroic tales soon passed by, and you were brought to a room that had a raised dais in the center. Upon this higher platform, there was an altar that was wrapped in ancient fabric. And resting upon that, lied a close box of stone, whose lid was cracked and was ready to be opened. Like how you were drawn into the temple, you were drawn to this stone cask, and before you could consider otherwise, you moved to open it.
You found something within.
>A pair of gauntlets made of Silver metal and plates of stone, that exude a power that makes you for some reason almost too quick and placing them upon your hands.
>A blade that looks more like a complex device with blue shining glass as its edge. It releases a low hum, and seems to burn the dust that touches its blade.
>An old tome that was once locked, but whose lock was broken by time. It seemed to breathe out magical energy, feeling the room fill with it as it was no longer contained by the stone.
>A Boar Skull made of black glass, it was large enough to fit as a helmet or as a shoulder guard. Dark energies surged around it, but you felt a resonance within your soul, felt it touch that same place you felt when you and the Lynel had formed your bond.
>A statue wrapped in what looked like a paper seal, depicting two feminine figures. One was wreathed in fire, the other bore a crown of ice. They bore gerudo features, and a wave of familiarity hit you hard, as if you had found your family again.
alrighty, statuette was chosen, i'll start writing
You lifted the statuette from the stone box, the already sundered lid cracking and breaking apart into even smaller chunks and pieces as you moved it aside. The seal affixed to the statue was written in a text you did not recognize, in a format and style that was also alien to you. You weren’t even sure that what it had been written on was even paper or leather, as it did not feel like either with its almost smooth yet waxy texture. Even odder than the seal was the statue itself, made of a type of stone that acted as if light was inverted upon it. Its surface was a smooth glass like black, with its shadows and darkest areas shiny as if all light was attracted to those locations, creating an odd visual experience to witness as you moved it various angles and positions in the room.
A feeling of magical power surrounded you though, and your mind played images of two beings, or perhaps a single being of two natures? In either case, this entity or entities taught their ways to something that shared your shadow but was not you, and the images repeated and shifted like the murals lining the halls in these ruins. By the time the images ceased, you found yourself standing cold and hungry. The battle from before had drained much from you, and by now you had been standing at perhaps one of the highest points of this mountain for most of the day, an easy victim for its biting wind and the thin air.
Looking over the seal before placing it into your ouch, you found the seal was almost fused to the statue itself, formed in some way as to require more than clumsy fingers to break apart and remove. It would be for later, for now you turned and left for your camp, eager to warm yourself and eat your dinner.
The captain was crouched in the grass, searching for some trail or evidence of their target Ishe reasoned as she leaned against a tree, still trying to recover from the terrible vision from hours before. She hadn’t shared what she had seen to the others, both fearing their pity and the effect it might have on them.It had nearly broken her, had pushed her to depths of fear she didn’t think possible for a trained warrior, and their mission was to important to risk their performance on needlessly sharing her dream. Not when they could stop it all before it could come to pass.
Ishe’s eyes shifted from the captains, into the trees of the valley they had come, and spotted a moblin in the distance ineffectually hiding behind a tree, watching their group. More odd behavior from these monsters, more signs the calamity was active and messing with the natural order. How many creatures had it affected by now, what variety of monsters could Ishe expect to see and face on their journey to wipe this monster out.
The captain stood and began to run deeper into the forest valley, and so ishe and her fellow knights did the same without question. They were drawing close to something, and she hoped that it would prove undeveloped enough to slay, to end the crisis before the hero himself would be ever necessary.
~~~~~~~~

You sat in your home, the cave resting behind the wooden walls and door that covered its entrance having been heavily furbished with furs and simple furniture you yourself had crafted in your time in self imposed exile. Resting on the deer hide seat you kept near your heat source, a fire pit whose smoke would be guided out of the cave safely to prevent your suffocation, you basked in the warmth as you digested your meal of dried meat, fruit, and the first loaf of bread you managed to create from the wild wheat. While you knew the bread from your family's farm was superior, it was still a luxury you let yourself enjoy.

However, your attention fell now to the statue in your possession, the odd model of two unfamiliar individuals that held a presence in your mind like a lost family.

How would you remove the seal?

>Attempt to use both the rune for fire and water to remove the wax like seal, freezing the seal then rapidly heating it in order to weaken the material.

>Place the statue in the fire for a time to melt the seal, as its waxy texture may hint at its true composition.

>Study the writing on the seal and attempt to divine its meaning and perhaps find an answer in your quest to remove it.

>Shatter the statue across the cave wall, as you sense a sizable magical power within beckoning you to take it.
