The Grail War is pointless. It has always been pointless. But you knew that. You always knew that.

You are Shinji Makiri. You were Truth Given Form. An Outsider.

You sought to change the world. To give it hope.

You will only bring despair.

"Then please..." You looked the knight in the eyes. "Defeat Archer. But do not kill him. We need every ally that we can get for the upcoming battles." If there was a doppelganger of you running around and your powers had been weakened... the implication was terrifying. Could... Manaka have really managed to imbue something not just with a conceptual application of Truth, but... with Truth itself? Could she really have managed to reach a level where she was capable of doing things like that? Things that you had always assumed to be impossible? You were an existence that should have been impossible to copy. Truth was a power that was supposed to have been yours and yours alone to command. Just how much had Manaka managed to accomplish that you had thought impossible? How much... how much had you been holding yourself back? What could you have really done with Truth if you had really wished it? It was a power that had shown itself to have no true limits, but you... you squandered it. You squandered it and allowed a situation to arise where it could be taken from you.

"You're quite confident in the power of your Servant, aren't you, boy?!" The voice of the enemy Servant echoed through the clearing, and Lancelot got into a combat stance before arrows started flying from every direction with a time delay of almost nothing. In the span of seconds, hundreds of arrows had been fired towards Lancelot, who had either dodged, parried or blocked each and every one of the attacks sent his way, Impressive, considering that his only weapon was a stick. A battle between two entities on the level of these two was still an incredible spectacle to behold, though Lancelot was mostly fighting defensively in blocking and dodging the arrows. It was surprising that Archer had not targeted you once, he must've simply been the sort of person to be honorable enough not to try to win through such a cheap method.

"Archer, you must've figured out by now that these arrows are no threat to me. You may keep firing that bow of yours as much as you wish, but you will never defeat me with such cowardly tactics." Lancelot yelled at his foe, clearly annoyed at Archer's decision to remain in the shadows to fight.

"Cowardly tactics...?" The Archer's attacks ceased as he burst into laughter, his deep voice booming around you as he lost his composure entirely. "You believe that I'm doing this to win this battle?" He stopped laughing, and a single arrow was fired towards Lancelot once more. The powerful knight moved to cut the arrow down before he stopped his blade in mid air and instead leaped backwards just in time to avoid the point of a huge halberd piercing his chest. It was a feint! The true attack was Archer behind the arrow?
>>
The ground shook as the attacker hit the ground, spinning his weapon in his hand with a dangerous smile on his face before he pointed it at Lancelot. "I was just testing you to see if you were truly a worthy opponent, but you've given me my answer already." Your eyes widened as you got a good look at the Servant in question, and you immediately realized who it was from his distinctive appearance alone.

"L-Lu Bu!?" Flat's Servant was Lu Bu of all people?! How the hell had he managed to avoid getting betrayed? More to the point, he was... strong! Way too strong for a simple Archer! How had Flat managed to get Archer to such a level of strength?!

"Lu Bu...?" Lancelot repeated the name of the Servant with a frown on his face, you didn't know if Lancelot would be aware of who Lu Bu was as a result of his current status as a living being with no real connections to the Throne, but he at least seemed to understand the threat his opponent presented. "You know, for an Archer, that sure doesn't look like a bow in your hand there." Lancelot decided to question his foe, but Lu Bu simply spit on the ground.

"Now's not the time for talking, knight!" He charged towards Lancelot, and his sudden burst of speed took Lancelot off guard for a moment as he thrust his halberd towards his opponent multiple times in a row. Lancelot only just managed to avoid the strikes, though it was clear that he still held an advantage, as even though he only just managed to avoid the attacks, he still managed to avoid them without using his full power.

"Fine." Lancelot suddenly stepped to the side of one of Lu Bu's piercing strikes and lashed out with the stick in his hand, though his enemy was too quick to adapt to his attacks and rather than allow himself to be hit, he plunged his halberd into the ground and used the speed he had been attacking with as a pivot point for him to spin himself around his own weapon in order to land a kick on Lancelot's face. But again, this attack failed when Lancelot quickly raised his free arm up to deflect the attack with the intent to send Lu Bu off-balance.

Instead of allowing himself to fall to the ground, Archer kicked his leg higher into the air and did a back-flip away from Lancelot. Grabbing his Halberd from the ground as he did and having it transform into a bow to launch arrows at Lancelot with before he even hit the ground once again. That must be his Noble Phantasm, God Force. A tremendously powerful variable weapon that could take all sorts of different forms to use in a fight, and Lu Bu was a master with all of them.
>>
Lancelot leaped from the path of the arrows and some distance was gained between the two battling warriors. Neither had taken any sort of damaging blow from the other yet, and you were astonished at how powerful Lu Bu actually was, to be able to pressure Lancelot even though Lancelot had been empowered by such a great deal. "I can tell that I won't be able to beat you like this..." Lancelot seemed to be quite confident still despite his worrying statement, but you understood why when he used his foot to kick a branch up into the air which he grasped a hold of with his free hand, transforming the mundane stick into a deadly weapon capable of matching Noble Phantasms in an instant.

"Two weapons?" Lu Bu commented on Lancelot's choice of style before his bow rapidly transformed back into the form of a halberd. The clashes between the two were about to start once more, and you found your attention shifting over to Flat. You could try to focus your energy into your Pure Eye in order to get more information about either Lu Bu or Flat, but... it was something you didn't want to rely upon. The power of Truth was not your ally right now. You couldn't determine who would win the fight between the two right now either, they were seemingly equally matched. Should you get involved in the fight somehow?

>Use your Pure Eye on Lu Bu.
>Use your Pure Eye on Flat.
>Attack Flat while the battle between Lancelot and Lu Bu rages on.
>Attack Lu Bu while his back is turned and he is fighting Lancelot.
>Have Gray deal with Lu Bu while his back is turned.

We need to know if Obiethion has buffed him or not. If she's made Flat stronger it would be safe to assume she would have buffed Lu Bu as well.

Ahhh its good to be back. So WhatIs, you got things sorted out right?

>Do nothing. Just watch the battle. Be ready to intervene if it looks like one is about to kill the other.
We don't actually need to see Flat's stats immediately, and Truth is a limited resource until we've dealt with Manaka. We should ration its usage carefully. Flat will tell us everything when the battle is finished, no matter who wins. We just need to make sure the battletards don't get carried away here.
>>
>>5003253
>Flat will tell us everything when the battle is finished, no matter who wins
Flat will just kill us if he wins. He's a fucking moron with Threat to Humanity level potential. He will just kill us.
>>
>>5003255
He may be a moron, but he is not a killer, and he is only a Threat to Humanity if he doesn't meet Waver. What makes you think he'll go against his word and kill us if Lu Bu wins?

Holding off on voting for a sec because feel the need to ask;
>What makes you think he'll go against his word and kill us if Lu Bu wins?
While Flat might not be clever enough to think of it, what makes you certain Lu Bu won't kill us if Lu Bu wins?
>>
>>5003431
Lu Bu might kill Lancelot, but I don't think he'd kill Shinji specifically.
>>
>>5003441
Perhaps but in which case they'd have even less reason to cooperate with us because despite having the goal of saving the world we allowed half our firepower to be taken out for being too trusting of our opponent.

I'm not advocating backstabbing them just to have a win, but if we can trust Flat not to go against his word I'd say keep the pure eye on Lu Bu if for no other reason than to make sure this doesn't go too far.
>>
>>5003431
What makes you think Lu Bu is an evil psychotic killer? Because that's what he'd need to be to murder everyone if he wins a duel thar he requested to test Lancelot's resolve.

>>5003465
And why we want to cooperate with then if we can't trust them not to kill half our firepower for no reason? If you really believe them to be so untrustworthy, shouldn't yoh be advocating to backstab them immediately?

Besides, we are already watching the battle. I don't see how activating the eye to scan Lu Bu would help.

Upfront because I like a discussion and overanalyzing. Aside from that what we know about Flat and archer Lu Bu comes from OOC knowledge for the former and memes and speculation for the latter while Flat barely knew us and Lu Bu even less. Since already doubt if we're not just another fake who came in with backup and don't completely trust either of them not to do something stupid.
Despite my misgivings, 'backstabbing them first' just because of they might is even more moronic but would like to have something to do damage control even if its just a more filled out character sheet.
Aside from that I don't really have an issue with the vote, more characterization and bonding with the non-harem cast is always welcome.

Anyway, hate sounding like one of those guys since you know how much those things are worth in hindsight; better to use as a reminder to bring it up and get proven wrong.

Started playing Genshin recently…sadly did not get Raiden.

Speaking of….honestly I wonder if anyone will do a Genshin or Honkai quest. I think both could make fun quests and both have plenty of lore and worldbuilding to keep things legitimately interesting (Honkai especially).

You decide it would be best not to get involved in the battle, Lancelot probably had a handle on things. He wasn't using his full power just yet, and though Lu Bu was a tremendously powerful adversary when he had access to his actual martial skill, Lancelot was arguably the most powerful Knight of the Round Table, with only Galahad being arguably more powerful than him traditionally.

Instead of getting involved in the battle, you resolved to simply observe things. You had enough faith in Lancelot that he wouldn't fall to somebody like Lu Bu even before he had been empowered as he had been, you knew just how powerful that Lancelot was supposed to be, after all. Lu Bu's might was also legendary, and the battle seemingly was all going to come down to who was the most skilled opponent. Lancelot's weapons of choice were... well, two sticks weren't exactly going to do him much good against God Force, even if they had been transformed into Noble Phantasms by his abilities. They'd hold up, sure, but he'd really need to start getting serious if he wanted to actually do anything to Lu Bu in the fight other than have a battle to see who could force the other to run out of magical energy first, and Lu Bu was an Archer with Independent Action and a powerful Master as his supply... but at the same time, Lancelot was actually alive and capable of creating his magical energy entirely by himself, so theoretically he should be able to outlast Lu Bu. Of course, that would just be ridiculous. Even if the two of them could fight for that long, it just wouldn't be feasible.

You watched as the two powerful Servants clashed with each other. Neither being able to get a substantial advantage over the other for more than a few seconds before their efforts were invalidated by a clever move or counter that was able to turn the tide in their favor temporarily. It was like watching a deadly game of tennis between two incredibly deadly warriors. Lu Bu had given up on trying to disarm Lancelot too, because every single time that he managed to knock a stick out of Lancelot's hand, all the knight had to do to make up for the lost weapon was simply... pick up another stick. It was a tremendously unfair ability to be able to transform whatever you were holding into a powerful weapon, it meant that you would never be disarmed. Though for Lancelot's case, if he had his original weapon, Arondight... then he probably would've already managed to defeat Lu Bu through the enhancement that the blade gave him. That he's still not drawing whatever his new Noble Phantasm is despite the stalemate is some pretty clear evidence that he wasn't lying when he spoke of the power it held.
>>
As you watched the two continue their fight, you shuffled a little closer to Gray, who was watching the fight with great interest for some reason. "Hey, Gray... you're... feeling alright, aren't you? Did seeing Flat here jog any of your memories?" You decide to ask the obvious first. She did know Flat after all, so as slight as the hope might be, there was still a chance that seeing his face and hearing his voice would unlock Gray's missing memories, but the lack of any recognition in her expressions was enough to tell you that it was a vain hope to have.

"No... I don't recall his face." She shook her head sadly. "I don't know who that person is. But... they feel like something that I need to kill." Her gaze suddenly hardened as she kept looking at Flat, who was trying his hardest to keep track of Lu Bu fighting Lancelot. In fact, it looked like he was so distracted by the battle between the two Servants that he had completely failed to pay any attention to you or Gray, completely lost in a world of his own as he was like to do.

"Kill...? Gray... you can't kill him. He's your friend!" You were alarmed by Gray's willingness to kill Flat. A lingering feeling left over from the spirits that once inhabited her...? But why would they want to kill Flat of all people? He clearly hadn't switched over to his other personality where he was an actual threat, he just seemed to be more inclined to take revenge on you for... something that you didn't do.

"If he's my friend, then why is he trying to stop you? Aren't you trying to save the world?" Gray sounded genuinely confused by your reaction to her feeling that way. Though you could theorize a reason. If the spirits that were once within her body were aware of Flat's true nature as a potential threat to humanity, it's only natural that some of those feelings would end up rubbing off on her.

"A case of mistaken identity. You of all people should know what that feels like." You crack a joke, but the lack of any sort of smile or even reaction from Gray tells you that she didn't get it. Probably a good thing too, you don't know if she would enjoy being reminded of her facial similarity to Arturia in a situation like this, even if the existence of multiple other people who shared Arturia's face should've been able to assuage her concerns about losing herself as an individual. Though with her memories currently lost, both her fears and any acceptance she might've had about them were gone entirely.
>>
You took your eyes off of Gray for a moment in order to look at the fight again, and you saw that there hadn't been any real progress on either front. Lancelot and Lu Bu were still trapped in a deadly stalemate of stick with spear. That Lu Bu was mostly fighting Lancelot in close quarters despite being an Archer spoke volumes as to his power and skill. That he match a being as powerful as Lancelot in a class as broken as Ruler without struggle. "Why... why don't they just use their full powers to kill the other just yet? I've... I've been watching, and neither of them look like they're using all their power... don't they want to win?" Gray asked you a question as you watched them battle it out, and you sighed.

"Well, I asked... Saber..." You decide to use an incorrect class for Lancelot just in case Flat was paying attention, it might be dangerous to spill the secret that he was actually a Ruler, after all. "I asked Saber to keep Archer alive. We're going to need him to help us against my doppelganger." Or at least you felt you might need the assistance of the powerful Master-Servant Duo that was Flat and Lu Bu. It was a terribly strange combination of people, and you really wondered how come Lu Bu hadn't betrayed Flat yet. As far as Servants went, Lu Bu wasn't exactly the most... well, loyal historical figure. In fact, he was one of the most treacherous! So why had he chosen not to betray Flat? Could he have just not been given an opportunity to betray him just yet? Or was there something more to their relationship? Flat was the sort of person who could form the most unlikely of friendships, after all. It wasn't... impossible, that he had managed to make Lu Bu of all people decide to actually accept him as his Master, as ridiculous as that sounds. Flat was just the sort of ridiculous person who did things like that.

"Well... unless Saber stops playing around, he's not going to win." Gray shook her head. "You can tell as well. The person who uses their full power first is going to be the winner, they are too evenly matched for this battle to end in any way other than a fatal strike when their guard is down." Gray calmly analyzed the battle and came to a morbid conclusion, but not one that you could argue with. It was true that if Lancelot wasn't careful, he'd fall victim to the full power of God Force and be slain by the Noble Phantasm if he was just planning on using two sticks for the entire fight. He was simply lucky that Lu Bu hadn't actually used the full power of his weapon and seemed content to merely using it as a variable weapon right now, or... maybe it was calculated? Lu Bu was certainly enjoying himself battling Lancelot, so maybe he simply didn't want to use his Noble Phantasm to cut their fight short?
>>

This fight is clearly going absolutely nowhere, and if the two can't come to a conclusion by themselves, then you may as well just step in and try to call things off yourself. It's obvious that neither Lu Bu nor Lancelot are the sorts of warriors to just offer a draw to their opponent. Especially not when neither of them are going all out in their battle. But... at the same time you couldn't really afford to allow the two of them the time that they needed to have the long drawn out battle that they seemed to seek. It was clear that Lu Bu was enjoying being able to face an opponent on his level, and while Lancelot was a little more reserved about things, it was quite clear that he too was enjoying the fight. One that wasn't laden down with betrayal or sorrow, but a simple fight against a strange enemy from another land who was his martial equal when it came to skill. For Lancelot as he was now, this was a rare opportunity. To be able to simply fight as a knight for a greater cause.

"OK!" You took a step forwards. "We're sort of in a hurry here, so... can you two just agree to a draw or something? We can't exactly spend all day just watching you two fight when reality itself is at stake. Can you two not resolve this battle at a later date? Have you not tested my Servant's resolve through his skill yet, Archer?" Flat was too obsessed with things that he found cool to intervene in the battle, and Lancelot and Lu Bu were both simply having too much fun with an enemy that they could actually fight against without necessarily needing to hold back their true power.

"Huh?" Flat tilted his head in surprise at you as you suggested bringing the fight to an end. "But why...? The good part is just getting started!" He sounded annoyed at the suggestion, but you shook your head at Flat. This battle couldn't be allowed to continue if you actually wanted there to be a positive outcome to all this. Even if you had faith in Lancelot, you didn't know if he could defeat Lu Bu without actually killing him or injuring him to the degree that he'd be... less useful in the battles to come.

"Because, Flat. Your Servant said he merely wanted to cross blades with mine in order to test him, did he not? Surely by now the great Lu Bu would've been able to get a read on my Servant to determine what drives him, no?" Flat shut up pretty fast at that, but you didn't want to stop talking just yet. "I don't want to fight you. I'm not who you think I am. I am the real Shinji, as cliche as that sounds. Think about it like this, what would the villain gain from continually impersonating me now that you're already cautious around me? Wouldn't it have made more sense for them to appear to you as somebody like Gray who you already trusted?" You pointed to Gray who looked up at your words.
>>
"Well... I..." Flat seemed flustered, as if he didn't know what to say in response to your words, and you grinned at him. "Archer...! Do you... do you have any ideas yet?" He called out to his Servant, who instead of entering into the fray with Lancelot once more, leaped back to his side and transformed his spear back into a bow.

"I do. I've managed to determine that this enemy isn't one who fights for himself or on the orders of another out of simple loyalty." He crossed his arms and frowned with annoyance as Lancelot stared towards him and Flat with his two weapons still at the ready. "I've seen others with his face before. He fights because he believes himself to be serving a great cause. He thinks he is serving something greater than he is." Archer correctly managed to derive Lancelot's motivations from their brief battle.

"That's because I am. I am not Shinji's Servant." Lancelot threw one of his two sticks aside and pointed at Flat and Lu Bu with a gauntleted hand. "I, despite still being alive, have been granted the class and powers of a Ruler. My mission is to aid Shinji here in order to prevent a total collapse of all reality, and in doing so... in doing so I will find my own redemption, even if I won't exist to enjoy it." Lancelot had come to terms with the fate that he must suffer, and you honestly felt bad for the guy. The one time he would be allowed to redeem his actions in life, doing so would actually end up erasing him entirely anyway. What a cruel fate.

"Then... you really are the real Shinji?" Flat seemed to finally be on the verge of accepting the truth, and you just sighed.

"Of course I am. The sooner that you got that through your industrial-grade thick skull, the sooner we can get to figuring out just who the hell is impersonating me, or if I actually have evil twins or evil clones or something."

"Then... if you have an evil clone, should we call them Dark Shinji? Nega-Shinji? Ijnihs?" A switch in Flat's head seemed to have finally been switched, and he didn't seem to be hostile at all to you anymore. What the hell? You weren't sure if he was naive or bipolar or what, but... why would he suddenly trust you so much to just joke around after being convinced that you were trying to kill him just moments before?

"No." You sternly told the boy that you wouldn't be giving the doppelganger a silly name like that. If it really was some sort of evil clone, you'd call him Shinji Alter, as normal naming convention would dictate. "So, do you trust me now?" You ask the boy for one last time, and he shrugs.
>>
"Either you got better at acting, or you're the real Shinji. You're not exactly giving off the same vibe that the you who attacked me gave off." The boy turned around and Archer begrudgingly followed. "You shouldn't follow me just yet though. In fact, I'd suggest that you stay exactly where you are instead of getting yourselves lost in this forest. You'll never make it to the Queen without her permission." He walked into the clearing and you thought about following for a moment before you shook your head.

Flat and Archer disappeared out of the clearing, leaving you Gray and Lancelot by yourselves. Lancelot didn't seem to be too fussed with the fight being called off either, though he did look worried about something else as he approached you.

"Are you sure that waiting for them to return is the best idea?" Lancelot didn't seem to be happy with what he was saying, but he voiced his concerns anyway.

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"I mean that they may just be intending to return with a great force to wipe us all out. While I could get a read on the Servant, I couldn't get a read on the Master... and for as powerful as I am compared to who I once was now, I can't safely say that I can fight off whatever the Queen of this Forest has at her disposal. At least not if they throw everything they have at us." Lancelot was right. For as powerful as he and Gray were, you couldn't afford to underestimate fairies. Especially not with your own powers diminished.

Leaks have been out for more than a month.
The actual reason she's in is because French Bread were making a prototype Fate game, and made Saber first as a proof of concept.
Then Tsukihime remake came out, so they changed to Melty, and asked to use what they'd already made, since they like Saber.
But yeah, I'm sure the increase in sales didn't hurt either.

I was holding out hope that the leaks were fake.
Also that sounds like total bullshit.

Flat was... acting a little stranger than you'd have expected of him, but... his usual eccentricity was something that you felt like you could rely upon. You didn't think that he'd betray you like that. Especially because Lu Bu's code as a warrior almost certainly wouldn't allow him to flee from a fight only to return with more soldiers for a one on one duel. To somebody like Lu Bu, that would likely feel more like an admission of defeat than even meeting his end at the point of his enemies blade. "I think... I think that we can trust Flat, Lancelot. He's not the sort of person who'd lie like that, and even if it would be a simple task for him to return with reinforcements, don't tell me that you're afraid of a little bit of fighting." You smirked at the knight. "Aren't you supposed to be the most powerful of the Round Table Knights? Surely you wouldn't shy away from combat with a few fairies, hmm?"

"I do not relish the idea of doing battle with true fairies. Not least because they were... my benefactors, before I became an instrument of the Lord." Lancelot did seem to have a strange relationship with fairies, of course, his relationship with his adoptive mother would be to blame for that one. He was raised by fairies, after all... it was really a wonder how Lancelot actually ended up turning out as well as he did as a result of that. Of course, he had his flaws, considering his actions could arguably be blamed for the downfall of Camelot when he and Guinevere had their affair, but to blame the downfall of Camelot on a single person like that was just... foolish. The fall of Camelot was not only the fault of many involved, but it was something that could not be averted as the world itself was against Camelot at that point. Honestly, the only person who realistically had the power to avert the fall of Camelot was Merlin himself, but his hands were pretty much tied even if he might've wanted to save Arturia from the suffering she would be forced to go through. This world... this world that had been created through Manaka's power was only possible thanks to that very power. A world where Camelot survived even after Arturia's death. It couldn't exist. Yet... the power of Truth that had been usurped from you specialized in the impossible, and it looked as if Manaka had no issue with using those impossibilities to even create worlds such as this one.
>>
"Well then, I guess that we're just going to have to wait to see if Flat is going to keep his word." You had no guarantee that he would other than your own knowledge about the boy's personality. He wasn't really the sort of person to maliciously lie like that though, so it was probably safe to just... not go anywhere. Besides, even if it was an ambush, what were they going to do, really? You had both Gray and Lancelot with you, and even if your own powers were diminished due to your current inability to wield Truth, you were still on the level of a Servant thanks to your Dragon Core and Rhongomyniad. Of course, Rhongomyniad was the sort of weapon that would almost certainly kill any opponent that it was used upon, and it was... somewhat unwieldy to be used as a weapon without using it's activated effect.

'I heard that.' The voice of Rhongomyniad echoed inside your head as you lamented the unwieldy nature of the lance. Your eyes involuntarily opened wide with surprise at the reminder that she is very much still conscious and sentient within the spear, and it looks like thinking about her has managed to provoke a reaction from the link you share with her. 'Perhaps if you practiced with me more, you'd uncover ways to have me change my form, as the Mystic Code that once contained me did."

'Wait... is that possible?' You try to ask Rhongomyniad for clarification, but the spirit of the spear seemed to have gone quiet, still apparently annoyed at being called unwieldy. What a nuisance, it's not like you could really use her for every situation, it's not like you could solve all of your problems with the magical equivalent of a nuclear bomb, really. Hell, even if you condensed the energy into a fine point instead of a huge explosive blast, it would still prove lethal to whatever you aimed it at thanks to the property of endlessness. A beam that could pierce anything and would perpetually follow its target without fail wasn't... exactly something that you wanted to use on anybody that you weren't absolutely sure was an enemy.

You spent some time waiting around for Flat to return. You thought about making idle conversation with Lancelot, but... it felt too awkward to even make the attempt. The same was true with Gray as well. Idle conversation with somebody who had lost all of their memories and as a direct consequence, their ability to actually talk in any depth about... practically anything felt more like a way for you to make the agonizing wait in the clearing even longer than a way to pass the time.
>>
So you waited. You waited for Flat to return for what felt like an awfully long time, but in truth you were just being impatient. It had been fifteen minutes now, and... Flat didn't return, but... something else happened instead. A clear pathway opened up in the trees before the three of you, and you looked at Gray and Lancelot for a moment before you shrugged. "Looks like they're rolling out the red carpet for us." It occurred to you at that moment that neither Lancelot nor Gray would have any idea as to what you would be referring to, so you just decided to forge on ahead into the pathway that had been opened than wait for whatever confused responses you would've received as a result of the comment.

The path was surprisingly brightly lit, despite the fact that it felt like the trees were growing denser and the canopy above you was getting thicker and thicker, the natural light never seemed to diminish as you kept moving deeper and deeper into the forest. After about five minutes of walking, you realized you had to be near the heart of the forest, the magical energy in the area was so dense that you could almost tangibly feel it across your body. There was no doubt in your mind that whoever this fairy queen was, they were both incredibly powerful, and possibly even the person who would allow you to move on from this world. It was a great burden on your soul that this world would require destruction in order to prevent the destruction of absolutely everything. This world would be destroyed regardless of the outcome, but... at the same time... it felt wrong. Had Manaka intended for you to feel this way? Could this have just been some elaborate scheme to weaken your willpower? Because it wasn't going to work. These worlds... even if you were the one who was responsible for unmaking them... you couldn't allow yourself to be consumed by any form of guilt. This world... this fake of Camelot... it never had a chance.

"I've got a bad feeling about this one." Lancelot frowned as he kept his hand loosely on the sheathe of his apparent ultimate weapon that he had been gifted with. A weapon of such power that he seemed to be hesitant to wield it. You wondered for a brief moment just what it could be that Lancelot was so terrified of the power of the blade. A weapon of greater power than Excalibur, clearly, but... by how much?

"It's not like you to be... jumpy." You still didn't know if it was a good idea to really refer to Lancelot by his name or his class, so you were avoiding doing so. Lancelot was apparently a name that he no longer went by anyway, even if that wasn't going to stop you from referring to him as Lancelot at every given opportunity... at least in your head.
>>
"Years of experience leads you to being... jumpy, when you get yourself involved in situations like this one." Lancelot gave you a quick response, and you frowned. You continued the rest of the walk into the heart of the forest in silence, until you were finally blocked by a tiny winged girl standing in front of a large gate that seemed to have grown entirely out of interlocked tree-branches.

"S-stop! Trespassers! You are... You are entering the Forest Palace of the Majestic Fairy Queen, the true queen of Britain! I'm under strict orders not to let any... humans like you in!" The girl was barely a third your size and her wings were fluttering frantically in order to keep her afloat. In her hands she held a pointy stick.

>"Ah, good thing I'm not a human, I'm obviously a dragon, so is my hooded colleague here, and uh... he's an adoptive fairy."
>"Yeah, I have an appointment. Did you forget to look at the scheduled meetings today? The Queen isn't going to like that."

"My name is Shinji Makiri, I'm a trusted confidant of the fairy queen and I am here to meet with Obeithion. If you need assurance that I'm not an enemy, then I would suggest that you get in contact with Flat Escardos, one of the queen's generals." You were working on the assumption that Obeithion was in this forest somewhere as one of the fairies, a few of your other allies seemed to have made their way to this world, so the likelihood of Obeithion also being here was... well it was almost a certainty.

The little fairy suddenly clutched her spear with intent as she looked at you in surprised anger "Obeithion...? You... you can't use that name!" Looks like the very mention of the name of the woman who was once Manaka's incomplete copy of Saber had managed to rile up the tiny fairy.

"Excuse me?" You raised a hand to keep Gray from taking any action against the non-threat. You didn't exactly have much faith in her ability to hold herself back from combat now, the changes wrought upon her by being the host of Rhongomyniad and then the host of thousands of vengeful spirits had transformed her into a bringer of death, and so you needed to ensure that she realized this was not to be a fight. Lancelot didn't seem all that bothered by the presence of the fairy though.

"The name of the fairy queen is one that... that humans like you shouldn't utter! You should... you should refer to her only by her title!" You tilted your head in surprise at the small fairy's commanding tone, before you began to laugh.

Your chuckling gave way to roaring laughter as you flung your head back in unrestricted mirth. "Can't... use it?" You eventually got over your fit of laughter and looked the fairy in the eye, deadly serious. "I gave her that name. Who are you to tell me that I can't use it, fairy?" You had more of a threatening tone than you intended to have in your voice, and the fairy shrunk backwards a little in momentary fear of you.

"You... you're telling me that... you're the Hero of Legend? The one who the queen... speaks of...? The... The Bringer of Hope?" Wait... did Obeithion actually start a legend about you? How long has she even been the queen of this place for? How long had this place even existed for? It hadn't been that long since Arturia was defeated at the battle of Camlann, from what you gathered, but... could the flow of time in this forest be slower...? You had read tales of the fairies being able to mess with time in such a manner in a book at some point, but you had never really gave it much thought.

"Yeah, sure, whatever. Can I see the queen now?" You shrugged as the fairy looked star-struck for some reason.
>>
"I... I was informed by General Escardos that we were to expect an important guest, but... I thought he was talking about one of the remaining fairy lords! Please forgive me for not noticing you were somebody of such great importance!" The gate that blocked your way quickly opened up and the fairy disappeared inside, almost as if she was running away from you.

"What... was that all about?" Lancelot seemed bewildered. "I'm used to fairies being... unpredictable, but... that was just strange." The holy knight didn't look like he knew what to make of the scene of the fairy suddenly fleeing from your presence, or that you were somehow the legendary hero of the fairies... somehow.

"It looks like I'm being expected by somebody." Obeithion must've been awaiting your arrival, to the point she had managed to make the local fairies believe you to be some sort of legendary hero. Well, it was a useful title to have, but... Flat didn't mention anything about that... then again, he wasn't really in that talkative a mood considering that he thought you were the doppelganger that almost killed him. You sighed as you remembered that you were eventually going to need to deal with your own doppelganger. Of course, what sort of being would be the best to put up against somebody who had the capability to overwrite the power of their enemy... than a copy of that person? Though to think that Manaka had reached a point where she was using the power she had stolen from you to do things that you had always considered to be impossible... it was proof that those things were never impossible in the first place, but were instead simply lines that you subconsciously never wanted to cross. Truth was... at the end of the day, a power that could do anything. Yet just because it could do anything, it didn't mean that it should be used as Manaka was using it. Creating entire worlds and duplicates of you... and for what? What could she possibly hope to gain from all this? You wouldn't get your answer till you finally confronted her.

You entered the inner sanctum of the fairies through the gate, and you remarkably didn't see a single fairy on the path. In fact, the forest was dead silent as you continued to walk down the path. You didn't like it, but the path eventually lead you to a large building that had been grown out of the branches of trees, there was no door, so you walked straight inside and saw an empty throne room.

"What's going on? Where is everyone?" Lancelot had his hand on the hilt of his blade.
>>
"I asked them not to interfere with this reunion." A voice echoed from behind you, and you turned to see Obeithion standing in the doorway to the throne room, dressed in a regal white dress with a circlet of platinum atop her head. Her wings fluttered softly as she looked at you. "I was hoping that the one who attacked Flat was a doppelganger... I do not know what I would've done if it had truly been you who had sided with... my creator." She could only be talking about Manaka. "Flat has already told me about what happened during his confrontation with you, and... he also told me that he believed you to be the true version of... well, of yourself, as strange as that might be to say... especially coming from me." Obeithion gave a half-smile as she clearly referred to her own existence as a copy of Saber that had been given true individuality through the power of Truth. "Lancelot. Gray. Please leave us." Lancelot looked at you for a moment and you nodded, and soon you were left along in the room with Obeithion.

"I knew that I'd find you here, Obeithion... look at you! You're a real fairy queen now, aren't you?" You gave the woman a smile, but she only frowned in response to your smile.

"It is... not a role I enjoy. Acting as the queen to the fairies. I... unlike almost every single one of the fairies... I have the ability to comprehend morality... most fairies though... they operate solely off of their own whimsy. I have... had to imprison or execute a great deal of fairies who refused my rule, though for the average fairy, I like to believe that things are better now... my ability to comprehend human morality and emotions... I wish to act as the shining light... an example for fairies to follow, that they can aim for higher than just wishing to follow their base whimsical impulses." Obeithion seemed to have had a hard time ruling the fairies. "I understand why Morgan has acted as she has towards the fairies... that woman... she is not unlike me. A fairy born with the emotional capacity of a human... perhaps that is why she resents fairies so much." Obeithion walked over to her throne and collapsed into it.

"I... had no idea... that you would be forced to take such actions..." You had no idea just how you were supposed to respond to Obeithion's story, but she just sadly shook her head.

"Do not worry. I have waited for your arrival for almost fifty years within this forest. My creator... she can manipulate time as she wishes now. I am still... linked to her, in my own way. I'm one of her creations, after all, yet one who was freed from her. That's why I know of how powerful she has become."
>>
"Then... in that case... if she has all the time that she needs, then why the hell has she not gone through with whatever her ultimate goal is already? It's obvious that nobody can stop her as she is now! Not even me!" As arrogant as that sounded, it wasn't wrong to refer to yourself as about the only person who might have a shot at stopping Manaka as she existed now. Truth as a power was infallible and irresistible, especially in the hands of somebody who had no compunctions about using the full strength of the power, even at threat to the fabric of reality itself.

"It's... because of you. You may already be aware, but... she has linked her power to you. Though it may feel like Truth has been stolen from you... that is not the case. I have had long to ponder the reason, and I came to a conclusion as to how my creator has gained your power..." She looked deep into your eyes. "You share a link with her. She has connected herself to you... you may have found yourself unable to wield your power... but that doesn't mean that it is gone... it is more that my creator... that she is siphoning your power from you at every moment. This requires you to be conscious... and crucially, it also means that her time is also linked to your own. For anybody else, she could make it so an eternity passes for them in a second, but... she is incapable of altering your time. Time can only move forwards for Manaka Sajyou, when the origin of her power moves forwards.

"Origin of her power...? But... isn't that supposed to be the Root?" You knew that she was using your power, but... you hadn't expected this.

"You are correct. That was the case before, but... the Root is a perfect record of all that is native to this reality. Everything that has happened, can happen and will happen... she has always had access to that record. But... that is why she needs you... you are an existence that even the Root cannot truly record. Your true existence comes from outside this reality and exists on a higher dimension than anything of this reality.

"How... how do you know all of this?"

"I already told you, I've had half a century to ponder on this. I've had half a century to figure out my powers, and of my connection to my creator and... to you. Thanks to you, I am the incarnated form of Hope itself. You filled the empty vessel that was the copy that my Creator formed with a new purpose. I had no purpose at the time, I was simply an empty vessel to be commanded, but... being infused with the concept of Hope... it changed me. My purposeless existence was obliterated by your power, and I found myself with a new goal." She looked to the ceiling. "This world... it's impossible to save this world. But... it's not impossible to save the memory of this place... however... in doing so... in saving this world, created by Manaka's theft of your power... you will need to track down the incarnated form of one of the stolen fractions of your power and..." She sighed. "Destroy it."
>>
"Destroy it? Is that any different from what I'm currently planning on doing?" This sounded kind of like a win-win situation for you, if you were going to be honest.

"Yes. In destroying the incarnated form of your stolen power... you will infuse that power into this world. It will allow for the continued indefinite existence of this world... but you will never be able to reclaim that part of your power... the alternative is to absorb the power of Truth back into yourself after besting it, and... in doing so, you would have more power to face off against Manaka with. Either way... Manaka is weakened, but... you might not have enough power to defeat her if you do this." Obeithion, having grown into her role as the embodiment of hope, had managed to kindle a fire in your soul. But... was it truly worth the risk if it weakened you enough to cause you to be unable to stop Manaka?

>"I'll do it. Even if it means I'll lose my power."

Morgan told us destroying this world is necessary when she shot down Shinji's self-sacrificing stupidity. We recruited Lancelot based on the premise that destroying this world was necessary, with God himself asking him to help us in that grim task and earn a hollow redemption. Besides, Shinji has always viewed NPCs as literally subhuman. Just yesterday we were more than willing to write Fuyuki off and let it burn if it proved necessary to defeat Manaka and save the people we love. And Fuyuki is our home. Why do we insist so much on risking everything for the sake of strangers that didn't even exist a few hours ago from our perspective? We used to try and discourage Shirou from adopting this stupid "try to save everyone at any cost" mentality. Why did we suddenly decide to turn Shinji into Shirou at his most retarded?

We are not shirou. We should have not gone along with niggerman's plot to save everyone and everything. The inhabitants of this world and others (beside named characters) don't matter, the sooner people come to understand that the better we will be off in our fight against Manaka.
I still want to go for the Saverchad Shinji route but not like this.

While we'd be denying her the use of our power it does nothing about what she already had. As established fey are a mixed bag of assorted dicks and aside from keeping the fairy knights and Ruler Lancelot we haven't seen anyone worth saving.
>>
>>5016298
>aside from keeping the fairy knights and Ruler Lancelot we haven't seen anyone worth saving
The Fairy Knights here are fakers and Rulesalot is on an a Christian Suicide Quest. We can't save them.
The only reason I can think of to keep this place is that Obeithion's Mastery of Self deal might end when this place dies.
>>
>>5016302
Another reason to save this place is that saving it will decrease our power level and re-balance us a little, because we are fucking broken as shit right now.
>>
>>5016305
>re-balance us
Considered this too and really only reason I can think of to support it right now.
My outlook is like this; sure we save it but what then? It took Obetheon 50 years of mass purges to get the fey to be almost respectable. Assuming everything goes well with Manaka are we planning to take responsibility for it, leave some of our followers to keep it in line or just leave it and hope for the best, top of that unless we skip straight to the Manaka fight there we're likely going to see more worlds before this is over, how much of our power can we sacrifice before we can't even take care of them, let alone deal with Manaka?

Isn't this being a power fantasy the whole point? When the idea of this quest was tossed around on the shinji isekai threads on /a/ did we not discuss the idea of obtaining a magical core from the
dragon of colchis? and how'd we would exploit our meta knowledge to become overpowered and shit.

>we are fucking broken as shit right now.
I agree, but I expect we'll have to permanently sacrifice Truth in order to defeat Manaka and save those who are actually important. But it will be a more meaningful sacrifice than this, and it wouldn't be an IC decision to reduce our power just to reduce our power.

>>5016320
>sure we save it but what then?
All valid points, and one more to consider: What happens to Obeithion, Morgan, Flat and our other friends if this world is stabilized? They are not natives, but they are necessary for this world to function smoothly. Will they have to abandon our world and stay here permanently? And will that be the case in the rest of the dreamworlds too?

>>5016324
>did we not discuss the idea of obtaining a magical core from the
>dragon of colchis? and how'd we would exploit our meta knowledge to become overpowered and shit.
Yes, the Dragon Core, the Reality Marble and the metaknowledge were some of the core ideas from the /a/ threads. But things have gotten way, way out of hand. There's a difference between power and UNLIMITED POWER.

Me? What are you talking about anon?

I started touching on it but got lost in editing, on one hand dimensional feudatories gives us more options for 'map painting' but its not like we ooc don't already know we can make our own and on top of what you already said once we leave will we or the people we leave here even be able to come and go after we depower and continue to depower ourselves.
After giving a night to think on less I like it, sure we might get an army of npcs but by giving up our power to save these worlds would just leave us dealing with Manaka's original powerset when Obetheon confirmed truth has been our only means of resisting time/space shenanigans. It'd be one thing if we in character knew if there was something to make it worth it, but as is it just feels like we'd just end up repeating Ishtar's descent into Kur.

Alitheia was born from a magical ritual involving our blood, Medea's magic, and the Colchis dragon. Genetics didn't really play a part.

But it is certainly possible Alitheia will play a part. Her mastery of Truth is second only to our own, with far more destructive potential, and limited mostly by her age (literally 2 days old) and her mentality (she wields Truth, but doesn't know THE Truth and that's for the best).

Other than Alitheia, Ourobora was also born through Truth, if not from it, and her powers are completely unknown to us. And Sakura and Medea both carry our children, the children of Truth. That might have been what saved Sakura from getting paged when she encountered and steadfastly rejected Manaka.

We wasted our time with Morgan pursuing this train of thought and she had to kick us out before she could tell us what we actually needed to know. But she did tell us the natives couldn't be saved and our friends would be safe. Lancelot, and God through him, also told us there was no other way. We don't have unlimited time here. Manaka might decide to interfere at any moment, and even if she doesn't, she is writing her book as we speak. We'll be completely fucked if she finishes. We can't afford to waste more time. We asked Lancelot if he was prepared to do what needs to be done. He gave us the answer. The sooner we accept it ourselves the better.

"I... I can't Obeithion." You felt your heart harden slightly as you refused the possibility to save this world. As much as it pained you, you... couldn't do it. "I can't risk everything for the sake of one world. Even if that... makes me a heartless monster. I can't take the risk of becoming too weak to stop Manaka in the first place. Even if this world will have to be sacrificed for that... if I fall against Manaka... then it becomes meaningless what is saved before that point." It was a heartbreaking decision to make. Though you had managed to convince yourself that the normal person on the street was an irrelevant nobody, a form of life not much greater than an actual NPC... you had slowly found yourself losing that mindset with the more attached you grew to the people around you. You would of course always prioritize those that you loved over those that you didn't know, but... even that affection had a limit to it. That you were consigning so many to oblivion to help ensure the continued existence of those that you cared about was... a difficult choice to make. Especially when there was an alternative being offered to you.

A long moment of silence passes as Obeithion gives you a scrutinizing look, almost as if judging you for the sins you have committed in deciding that you couldn't save this world, but after a few seconds of her looking at you as if she was looking into your very soul, she smiled warmly and nodded her head. "I see... it is... unfortunate. But... even after all this time... I cannot stop myself from optimistically hoping for the best outcome for all that occurs... I am the personification of Hope, after all." She sounded a little bit disappointed, though there was clear understanding in her voice as well. "You are right. Sacrificing your own power would prove to be a worthless decision if you end up sacrificing it only to create a world that is doomed regardless of what happens... but even so... it will sadden me to see this world disappear. I have... not had a great time in this world. My time here was filled with hardship and hard choices. Of being called a traitor by some of my own kind before I executed them with my blade. Of waiting for you to finally appear in this world to bring me liberation... Despite all this... I seem to have grown attached." The faint smile on her face faltered a little bit, and her eyes started to gloss over.
>>
"Obeithion... you..." You reach a hand out to try to touch the girl, but she takes a step backwards, her sad expression not faltering. This really wasn't making things easier on you, and though you knew that Obeithion wasn't trying any sort of emotional blackmail or something like that, it was hard not to already regret the choice that you had made. As illogical as the alternative would be, seeing Obeithion like this caused your heart to swell with pain. You wanted to be able to save everyone, but... it simply wasn't possible. You had always known that. Deep down, you had always known that the dream of being able to save everyone was impossible for a human to achieve.

"I'm fine. If this place is to disappear, then I would rather recall it as a fond memory than dwell on it any further... the destiny of all dreams is to one day disappear, is it not?" She shook her head, and her sorrow seemed to vanish. "I will simply treat this place as a... long dream. I... I do not belong in this world, it is not my duty to serve this... fake world." She seemed to be trying to convince herself that what you were doing was morally right, and this time, when you put a hand on her arm, she didn't shrink back.

"Obeithion... this... this isn't a righteous thing. This is... wrong. We both know that allowing this world to disappear is wrong, but... we can't defeat Manaka without making sacrifices. Do you really think I want to live with the knowledge that billions of people are dead... no, that billions of people simply no longer exist because I was worried?" You give her your own pained smile now. "But... at the same time, I can't risk it. I can't risk letting everyone I care about disappear just to save this world. I need to reclaim my power, Obeithion... what if Manaka purposely set this up?" It was a bizarre thought that you had, but... you couldn't discount it.

"What...?" Obeithion sounded shocked by your suggestion, as if she hadn't even considered it.

"What if Manaka purposely set this up for the sake of me discarding my own power. This world... this world is a world she created, isn't it?" You already knew that it was, so the question was more for confirmation than anything.

"I... well... yes, that's true, but..." Obeithion confirmed that which you already knew, but you didn't allow her the time to keep talking.
>>
"Who's to say that your theory about using Truth to make this world a real world is correct? I know that you have been here for an awfully long time, and you were receiving information through your link to Manaka, but... how do you know that what information you ended up receiving wasn't a purposeful choice by Manaka herself? How... how do you know that she isn't simply tricking us both into having me slay one of these... Manifestations of Truth so that their power can be absorbed by this world... by this world that she created? What if she was simply counting on me surrendering that power to this world so that she could claim it for herself?" It was a dark thought, but... Manaka had shown herself to be cunning when she wanted to be. You couldn't discount that this was all part of her plan. Perhaps she was incapable of slaying these Manifestations herself, and was hoping to trick you into doing it for her? If that was the case, then it really was a genius plan. To attempt to exploit your weaknesses so that she got her own way.

"That... no... that can't be... she... she couldn't have tricked me like that! She... she couldn't have... could she?" Obeithion once again sounded legitimately stunned by your theory, as if she had never stopped to consider the possibility that perhaps slaying the Manifestation of Truth of this world could be a bad idea.

"I don't know. In fact, we might never know. It's just something to think about." It was mostly just you trying to think of a reason that would make you not feel so bad about allowing this world to be erased. Whether it was true or not... it didn't really matter to you. At the end of the day, you had a job to do, and you couldn't afford to fall into any of Manaka's traps, no matter how cleverly they might have been set up to deceive you. In truth, there was no telling if this was a trap or not, but... it sounded more suspicious by the moment when you thought about it. In fact, this could even have been Manaka's way to claim Truth for herself for real by having you renounce the power to save her creations. Could she really be that ruthlessly manipulative...?

"Well... if that is the case, then there is no question. You must reclaim the Manifestation of Truth of this world for yourself. We... cannot afford to take the chance that this isn't some elaborate scheme by my original creator." Obeithion seemed to have been convinced by your observations, though there was no concrete evidence about them, it wasn't something that could be risked at all now. "Now... do you feel ready to confront the manifestation yet? Myself, Flat and Lu Bu will assist you, but... there is another person who... may be of some use." Obeithion asked a question, and you looked at her for a moment before responding.

>"Another person? Who are you talking about?"

We were unable to contact Medea, but Obeithion is special. She might be able to tell us something about her Master. That other person is almost certainly Timechad Mordred. She wouldn't be on board Morgan's plot to pretend to serve Manaka, and we could use her help now. I wonder why Obeithion seems reluctant to contact her.

And Morgan warned us that Manaka created these worlds specifically as a trap for us. She didn't have time to elaborate before she had to kick us out, but the trap is now obvious, just like Shinji thinks.

Tbh I said before but I look at it like this, I don't think Whatis is going to lock us into a decision without a vote later over the vote here and we're still missing a hard confirmation on what Manaka created these worlds for. If we said we were going to save it and end up backing out and deleting, it would've been worse than if we never promised. Meanwhile if circumstances lead to us changing our minds it won't do nearly as much harm to our relationships.
For now just hope a new option becomes available.

Reminder Obeithion is
>initially a creation of Manaka
>was altered by Truth to be her own person
>is on our side in all this
>yet still connected to Manaka
>able to receive "information" from Manaka, which may or may not be true
>has a cruicial figurehead/leadership position in this world fabricated by Manaka

Now consider the following ideas, as building on these prior facts:

>IF any (creation of Manaka) can (receive infomation from Manaka)
>THEN does (being directly hijacked or fed false stimuli to cause the creation of Manaka to sabotage us) be considered a form of (receiving information from Manaka)?

>IF (Obeithion) is a (creation of Manaka)
>AND is (altered by Truth)
>AND is (on our side)
>AND can (receive information from Manaka)
>THEN which other individuals (on our side) fit these stated criteria?
>AND who we can reasonably expect to encounter in the next worlds to come?
>AND what are the possibilities of them having a crucial figurehead/leadership in these worlds to come?

Looks halfway to programming code for me, but it sounds like bot-anon is saying:

If Obetheon can receive information from Manaka, can she be given false information or possessed by Manaka through her former connection.

Whether this also applies to our companions who were also modified by both us and Manaka (Shuten, Monica, etc) and if we can predict future worlds by the assumption they might've ended up in similar leadership roles too.

If they are on our side can these companions feed Manaka false information/steal power from Manaka like she's doing to us (hers or ours), or if Manaka can siphon Truth from them like she's doing to us and undue the concepts we applied to them.

If i'm reading right got to give credit, they're very good questions i'm surprised haven't really been brought up sooner.
>>
>>5020482
I feel like manaka can't suck out the truth of the people we changed, if so she would already have done that.
But i may be wrong.
I wonder how would the "give manaka wrong info" would work.
>>
>>5020482
very based.
However, I'm a little wary of this idea for one main reason.
In the event that we can feed false info to Manaka through a proxy, would opening that channel also open the proxy up to possession or subconscious suggestion by Manaka?
>>
>>5020482
Thanks for clearing up my post for me, whoever you are.
>>
>>5020933
Consider:
If what Obeithion knows about the Manifestation of Truth that we need to confront is a lie
And killing it is what Manaka wants us to do to successfully steal that part of our power, as Shinji pointed out IC
Then doesn't that mean that this "channel" allowing possession or subconscious suggestion by Manaka, between Manaka and Obeithion, is already open?
And if it is, why aren't we trying to exploit or counter that?
>>
>>5020955
If the channel is open, then could we potentially steal some truth back from Manaka, or would that be too risky for Obeithion?

No problem mate, you had a good point and if I was off base on anything blame the translator.
The important thing to consider is if this channel is still open/whether she is able to reopen it and whether it's one way or two way/to what degree. Truth should insulate them to some degree since it's established to be the only thing that protects us from her powers but the longer we take the more time she'll have to find a workaround since we do know she's able to directly interact with our companions to try and bait those she didn't influence before we concepted them through Sakura and Morgan, esp if she's capable of draining it like you speculate.

"Obeithion... are you... still Sakura's Servant? Are you still linked to your original Master, as you maintain a link to Manaka?" You had a brief spark of hope, but it was rapidly extinguished by Obeithion sadly shaking her head. Of course it wasn't going to be that easy. If you actually had Sakura by your side with all of her power, then you had no doubt that even defeating a manifested form of your power would be possible. You weren't going to doubt the power that she held... but at the same time, you couldn't help but feel worried about her.

"Sadly not. The links held between Servants and Master who were separated were cut, and those who found themselves in these worlds without their Masters... have been provided with the energy they require to continue their existence by the world itself." Obeithion revealed, her tone not betraying any emotion anymore. She was clearly trying to operate without showing her true emotions on things, emulating how the once stoic Saber Alter acted. Though there was of course a maelstrom of emotions whirling just beneath the serene surface.

"By the world itself...?" It sounded strange, as these worlds had been created by Manaka, it could only mean one thing. For whatever reason, Manaka had deemed to let your Servant allies continue existing, when it would've been as simple as just allowing them to disappear without a Master if she was truly trying to kill them. "But... why? Wouldn't it make more sense if Manaka just allowed my allies to disappear? Why would she go out of her way to prevent them from disappearing?"

"I... cannot say. Perhaps she sees more worth in them remaining alive? She certainly doesn't see any sort of Servant as a threat to her at this point... or perhaps the worlds of her creation are simply dense enough in magical energy that a being such as myself can survive comfortably without any difficulty." Obeithion shook her head. "It is best not to dwell on the methods of one who has disregarded her sanity. She is cunning and ruthless, true... but at the same time, she acts almost as if... she is sabotaging herself." She said in an uncertain tone, as if she wasn't certain of her own words.

"Why would you say that?" Regardless of how uncertain she might've been, you still wanted to know where this feeling was coming from.

"It's difficult to say, but... I am aware of just how much power that she holds. She could spread a great shadow over everything within these worlds of her creation and corrupt their very minds to serve only her." Obeithion looks up at the sky. "Only those who had already been granted a fragment of Truth would be able to resist her now, but... instead of doing that, she installed Morgan as the ruler of this place... and what's more, she even gave Morgan tremendous power to wield for herself."
>>
"So what are you getting at?" You pushed Obeithion to explain further, and it was clear that she felt some indescribable emotions towards Manaka, an emotion floating in the void between admiration for her creator and hatred for the bringer of her ruination. Manaka and Obeithion's relationship was... odd, to say the least. The twisted relationship between a creator who didn't care and a creation who resented what the creator had intended for them.

"I believe that for as insane and destructive that my Creator may act... there is a tiny sliver of her soul that still yearns for the light." She seemed genuinely upset as she spoke about Manaka, was she equating the shortsightedness of Manaka for mercy? Or some desire to lose? Could... that really be the case? You didn't want to believe it.

"You've got to be kidding. How could you believe that?" You find yourself baffled by Obeithion's apparent belief in Manaka, even though she had gone through so much as a direct result of Manaka's actions, that she had any belief in Manaka having a better side was... incredible. You had been operating under the premise that there were two Manaka opposed with one another. A 'Good' Manaka, and an 'Evil' Manaka, but... it probably wasn't as clear-cut as that anymore. Not least because the 'Good' Manaka had almost certainly met her end at the hand of her counterpart.

"I am the manifestation of Hope. If I do not believe these things, who shall? I regret that I am... unable to avoid seeing the best in people, or trying to find it, if it doesn't seem to exist..." She looks away, almost shamefully. "It is but... a sincere wish of mine, that my Creator isn't totally stained with evil, as terrible as she might seem... she may very well have created these worlds to try to break your spirit, but... there was no reason for her not to have had everyone you cared about simply... disappear, was there?"

"If her aim is to emotionally destroy me, then she wouldn't want me to become driven by revenge. Even she should be intelligent enough to realize that much." You crossed your arms, unconvinced by Obeithion's ideas about Manaka. You wouldn't know what she was truly after until you actually had the chance to confront her without any deception.

"Maybe..." Obeithion didn't sound as if she was going to argue any further, but she did give you a few things to think about. First though, there was something else you needed to ask anyway.

"So... who exactly are you talking about when you mention this other person?" You were of course interested in knowing who Obeithion was talking about, and she smiled weakly.
>>
"How would you feel about..." She looked away guiltily, trying not to make eye contact until she took a deep breath and continued. "...rescuing Merlin from Avalon?" Her expression betrayed nothing, but you almost felt as if there was a tinge of amusement in her eyes.

Merlin? That certainly wasn't what I was expecting, but the futamancer's help will be invaluable. He'll have to do. We could really use Mordred's help too, if Obeithion knows where she is.

It was a long-shot to ask her about Sakura, but we still learned something invaluable. All contracts being severed between Masters and Servants in different dreamworlds is big. Flat with Lu Bu and Shirou with Artoria are the only pairs we know for sure haven't been severed. And Manaka's actions really are strange. Eliminating those who Shinji cares about and then offering to bring them back if he works with her would have been the obvious play for her. Did we really figure out her only trap? I imagine she'd have more aces up her sleeve.

Shinji is right to worry about Sakura too. Obeithion spent 50 years here. For all he knows, Sakura might be 80 years old when he next sees her, having spent her entire life alone waiting for the love of her life to come back to her. Manaka knows about HF Normal now, after all.

Between being concepted with nullification, indomitability and becoming the host of Tiamat, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she was immune to Manaka's time fuckery like us or simply stopped aging when she became an immortal milf, but robbing us of 65 years together would still be unforgivable wouldn't it?

Yes, it would be. But Sakura is the one Shinji loves the most, so if Manaka really wanted to hurt him that's where she would strike. Not at Shiki and Waver. And she could do a lot of damage if she really wanted, even without killing anyone. Rob us of a lifetime with Sakura, age up our daughters into adulthood and beyond, etc. I can think of two explanations for why she hasn't:
A) She can't. Her control over Truth is more precarious than we had assumed. She was able to accelerate Obeithion's time only because Obeithion is one of her creations, and that affords her more control than with the people from our world.
B) She doesn't want to. As you said, it would be unforgivable, which means she still plans on trying to convince us to help her. But what will be her pitch? She was omniscient even before she learned the Truth, so she has to know apotheosis doesn't interest us. We have already rejected Nyarly's offer. What can she possibly say to try and convince us if she doesn't go for the obvious blackmail?

I suppose we'll have to wait and see. We don't have enough pieces of the puzzle yet. Merlin might know more. Otherwise, getting to the second dreamworld will give us more info to speculate with.
>>
>>5022103
Don't get me wrong I agree with you here, I'm just saying that I'm still a bit concerned that our companions we didn't concept will either end up like the temple raid party if we take too long or get screwed by the time shenanigans whether out of malice, carelessness or apathy. Even if it's unlikely if WhatIs would offscreen a bunch of our companions just because they had the misfortune of not being immortal or able to control their aging.
It's still too early to say whether she wants us to work with her or out of the picture, to usurp our power, or to just make us waste our time until she accomplishes whatever her goal with these worlds is. Either way I'm looking forward to seeing where things go from here and how anons will answer this situation.
>>
>>5022132
>It's still too early to say whether she wants us to work with her or out of the picture, to usurp our power, or to just make us waste our time until she accomplishes whatever her goal with these worlds is.
I think the answer is "all of the above". Nyarly told us that reality would get destabilized when she began writing her book, as it happened, and she would reach apotheosis when she finishes. Wasting our time suits her purposes just fine. Stealing our power through these incarnations will either allow her to accelerate the book, or bypass the need for it entirely. And she immediately wins if she convinces us to work with her, so she has to try that too even if it's the least likely path to victory she has. She probably doesn't want us dead though, unless it's under specific circumstances that would disable the Dojo. If she wanted us dead, she probably could have overwhelmed us with brute force when we were alone and powerless after Morgan kicked us out and before we recruited Gray and Lancelot. I am inclined to believe Obeithion when she says Manaka loses access to Truth if we die, even if she was mislead about the rest.

tl;dr
My guesses:
Plan A: Waste our time until the book is finished
Plan B: Usurp our power through these incarnations
Plan C: Convince us to help her.

"Well that certainly wasn't what I was expecting." You don't exactly know who or what you were expecting, but it hadn't been Merlin. Though... you might personally not like the guy all that much, but you couldn't afford to turn down his help. You couldn't possibly afford to turn down the help of a Grand Caster, even if he had lost some of that power as a result of Manaka's actions already, he was still a tremendously powerful ally to have, and not one that you'd turn down in the coming battles. "Aren't you the fairy queen? Can't you enter Avalon whenever you feel like it?" It was quite puzzling that Obeithion seemed to need your assistance in saving Merlin from a place she could freely enter.

"I am a fairy, and I am recognized as their queen, yes. I can enter Avalon, but... my power alone is not enough to free Merlin from the Tower of Avalon. I am sure that you are aware of his entrapment and of the enchantment that not even a spellcaster of his caliber can break. I tried myself, but... the enchantment is one made by ancient primordial fairies. Even with the full power of the Fairy Queen, I cannot wield the raw power I need to shatter the spell." So she needed your help for something? You didn't exactly know what she was expecting that you'd be able to do, if she was hoping that you'd be able to use your Truth to break the lock, then she was very sadly mistaken. You didn't even want to risk attempting to use Truth right now, for fear of completely losing what little grasp you still maintained on your power. A part of you thought it impossible to completely lose your power, but... if Manaka was capable of siphoning it from you, then using what little you may still be able to summon might lead to her snatching that away as well somehow.

"Then what exactly is it that you wish me to do? How do you expect me to free Merlin if even you can't do it?" Obeithion smiled, a warm smile, looks like she was expecting that question, and she prodded a finger at your chest and looked deep into your eyes.

"The power to free Merlin exists within you, and I'm not talking about your heart." She chuckled. "I'm talking about Rhongomyniad, of course. The spear that can pierce and destroy anything endlessly. While you could of course have used your Truth to break the spell as well, it is not something I would risk having you do in your current state." Obeithion did seem concerned about your current state, your inability to properly wield truth was a tremendous detriment, but... when you reclaimed your power, you were certain that you would be able to use your power to rapidly regain control of the rest of it.
>>
'She's right, you know.' Rhongomyniad's voice echoed in your mind. 'No fairy magic is going to be able to block me, I'm quite certain of that' the woman's voice was smug and self assured, and for good reason. Her power was great enough to overwhelm even a god at the height of his power, a god who alone was powerful enough to challenge and defeat Tiamat who was herself at the height of her power. In fact, if you had aimed for Marduk's head with Rhongomyniad and struck true, the odds that the blow would've been a fatal one were indeed very high. That was the amount of power that was held by Rhongomyniad now, the Spear of the End Without End.

You felt a warm and fuzzy feeling emanating from within you as Rhongomyniad realized that you were actually complimenting her strength, and you smiled a little, happy that the spirit within the weapon was happy. "Then... what do we need to do? Just... go to Avalon, and... bust Merlin out? That sounds pretty easy, honestly."

"Well, upon reaching Avalon... we may run into trouble. Avalon as it was in the world before my creator's rise was a place beyond time and dimensions, but even that did not protect it from her reach." She sighed. "I have reason to believe that we may run into... opposition, if we enter Avalon." Obeithion looked worried about something, and you weren't quite sure what, Avalon may have been affected by Manaka's power, but... why would that mean you'd run into opposition?

"What do you mean?" You wondered aloud what Obeithion meant, and the fairy decided to explain.

"As a place that should exist on the border of existence itself, Avalon... is a place that I believe my creator may turn her attention to us." Obeithion spoke of Manaka as if Manaka was some sort of all-powerful god... which when you thought about it, may not be that far from the Truth given her rapid ascent in power. What was once a girl who could accomplish anything she wanted had become something far far more dangerous, and she was already a nightmare on the level of controlling a Beast by herself.

"You really think she'd intervene personally if we went to Avalon?" You weren't so sure of that, she's had chances to intervene personally many times already, and she had yet chosen not to, it was more likely that whatever she was doing was taking up all of her attention to the degree that she couldn't even spend a few moments to spy upon you.

"I don't know what she may or may not do, all I know is that she is very likely to take personal interest in the two of us if we enter Avalon... what's more, your allies will have to remain here while we attempt to rescue Merlin... even with my power as the Queen of the Fairies, I am unable to transfer more than one person over to the Land of the Fairies with myself... with that in mind, are you ready?"

"Wait... one more question before I decide." There was a very small chance of your next question actually receiving a positive answer, but you wanted the answer even so.
>>
"What's that?" Obeithion tilted her head, prompting you to continue.

"Your uh... big sister, Mordred. Do you know if she's in this world as well?" You really wanted to make sure that Mordred was safe. In a way, you felt responsible for her safety, having been chosen as her advisor... well, you felt responsible for a lot of people that you wanted to make sure were safe. Sakura, Medea, Alítheia, Betty, Abigail... if you thought of everyone you wanted to keep safe, it would take far too long. But what mattered was that Mordred was somebody near to the top of that list.

"Ah... Mordred... That depends on what you mean by Mordred..." Obeithion looked away awkwardly. "The Mordred of this world and the Mordred you know are two different people, as you may have already figured out. In all my time in this world, I have not met the one I was familiar with, as unfortunate as that might be... I can only hope that she is safe... she is... my sister, as strange as it is to think that, and I would've liked to have gotten to know her better." You imagine that the two would've gotten along quite well if they had more time with each other, Mordred was somebody that was very easy to get along with, especially after her ascension as a king. "But... we can't dwell on the past now. The sooner we enter Avalon, the sooner we can get Merlin, and the sooner we can get to making things go back to the way things were... the way things should be. So... are you ready?"

That may be it, even i don't like it as much, would prefer just a direct final battle with manaka then maybe this lostbelt stuff.
>>
>>5026209
My biggest issue with the Pseudo-Lostbelt/Lostbelts is they kinda seem like padding. Like it's a filler arc that's happening between what should the last two episodes of a series.
>>
>>5026213
It also seems like an excuse for WhatIs to "cull the herd", so to speak. We really have a bloated cast-list, and the Pseudo-Lostbelts would be a good way to get rid of some of them.

desu probably not in the final battle, but it's pretty cheap to just use psuedo-lostbelts to off them.
WhatIs could have just pulled the same strat he used with Orochi and seperated the gang.
Either way, I agree with the "filler arc" feel. This just doesn't feel like a HGW gone wrong anymore, it's some weird looping side quest.
>>
>>5026242

I don't mean in the battle with Manaka, I mean use them at all. Our group is fucking busted just going off of the F/SN and Tsuki crew, we really don't need anyone else.

Fuck, we barely need anyone other than Sakura, because of her connection to Tiamat.

Whatis used to update this quest 2 times a day that was one of the reasons this quest was the best in this board. Nowadays Whatis only updates the quest once every 2 days. We slowly bled players during the one month of SOL hell we had and that was before the shitstorm that is the harem arguments. That's how i see it also this quest became concept hell when i stopped being an active participant in it. That's probably a factor as well.

Yeah, the over-use of the Concepts clearly got on a lot of people's nerves, especially once we started doing more "esoteric" ones like with Vritra and our Maid.

"Wait a second, right now? Don't I even get to tell Lancelot and Gray where I'm going?" You were wondering just what the hurry was for Obeithion, they had a right to know where you were going, and honestly, they could be a great help to you in retrieving Merlin if you had Obeithion ferry them over to Avalon to assist you.

"No. I will send a messenger to inform them that you have gone on a mission to retrieve something, but the more that we speak of our mission, the more it is possible that our aims will be discovered." Obeithion looked away from you as she paced around the room. "Even those who are totally loyal to you may not be people you can trust... remember what I told you. The only barrier to my creator's power is the existence of Truth... Lancelot... Gray... neither of which were granted a fragment of your power, so... for as powerful as they are. You cannot trust them without caution. I am sorry." Obeithion seemed genuinely apologetic as she explained her reasons for wanting to leave immediately, and also likely why she had Lancelot and Gray lead away from you.

"Wait... so you're telling me that... at any moment..." The revelation made your heart freeze over, your heartbeat ceasing as you stared at Obeithion with shaking eyes.

"At any moment, my creator could have those you consider your allies turn on you with her power, yes." Obeithion gave you a sad look as she stopped pacing around the room. "I understand that it might be difficult to accept, but... the sooner you gain control over your power again, the sooner that this nightmare can end... I was... wrong to allow myself to feel sympathetic to the people of this world. I was wrong not to see them as anything other than puppets that could be turned against the two of us at any time." Obeithion was saying some dangerous things now, but you decided to ignore that for now. "Even Flat... even he is at risk of betraying me."

"Then I suppose I don't really have a choice, do I?" Knowing that even Gray or Lancelot could be made to betray you at any time through Manaka's apparently limitless control over Truth was heartbreaking, but... there's one problem... "If Manaka can control anybody through her use of Truth... what makes you so confident that meeting Merlin will be a good idea? I don't remember ever granting him the ability to wield a fraction of my power." If you were tracking down Merlin only to be ambushed by a puppet of Manaka, then things would quickly take a turn for the worse.

"I... cannot tell you why we should seek Merlin. Not yet." Obeithion refused to give you the answer you were looking for, but you had no choice but to accept that as well. Though her hope might blind her to the truth sometimes, she had a good heart, and you felt that you could trust her.
>>
"Alright. Then I have no more questions." You'd just have to trust Obeithion now. You hoped that she had a good reason to see Merlin, because even if he was a powerful ally to have, and an incredible user of magic... it's not like he'd have much of a use against somebody like Manaka, who is orders of magnitude his superior in magic... maybe even greater than that now that she has gained access to the greatest form of magic at all. The power of Truth itself. It's odd to think that Truth was all along a power greater than even that which could be brought forth by somebody with a perfect connection to the Root itself, but... it made sense. You had seemingly become the target of a multitude of beings that wished to use your power for their own benefit. Nyarlathotep, Alaya, Gaia, and even God! Though God didn't seem too bothered by whatever you would choose to use your powers for. Perhaps he simply already knew, and had ended up approving of them regardless... or perhaps not, and his intervention was to steer you onto a new course. Trying to second-guess nigh-omnipotent beings like this wouldn't get you anywhere.

"Very well." Obeithion raised her hand and strings of green energy emerged, forming a large butterfly that fluttered out of her hand and out of the room. "That will ensure that Gray and Lancelot get the message that there is nothing to worry about." Obeithion turned away from you and towards her throne, before she swiped her arm downwards and a portal in space split open. "This is a gateway to Avalon. Hurry, this portal drains a great deal of my energy to maintain... normally we would've had to have ventured to the depths of the earth to reach Avalon." Obeithion explained things as you quickly made your way through the opening onto what seemed to be a great meadow of flowers on the other side.

"So this is Avalon, huh?" You looked around the idyllic looking utopia, the very energy of the place was uplifting, a gentle breeze caused the flowers of the meadow to sway in the wind, and you could see for miles around, not another soul in sight. It was almost eerily quiet.

"Yes... this is the place where King Arthur was fated to end up, but... in this world, she didn't... though at the same time, she didn't end up here in the world we came from either, did she? Destiny is a fickle thing, is it not? A prophecy is naught but a glimpse at the future, to a future that may end up being changed." Obeithion spoke calmly as she surveyed the area. You were both looking for something in particular, and it didn't take long to find it, nestled dozens of miles away from your view, the tiny speck that could only be the prison of Merlin. The Tower of Avalon. The place in which Merlin has remained trapped for... well, in this world, maybe a few years? Having spotted the tower, you suddenly felt something was... wrong. Like the world's peace was some sort of facade for something else happening, so you finally decided to ask...
>>
"Obeithion... shouldn't there be fairies in this place? I can't see a single soul around other than us." It was odd that the land of the fairies seemed to be devoid of life, and it couldn't just be that they were too shy to meet either of you. Especially not when Obeithion is the Queen of the Fairies, so what gives?

"I... do not know." Obeithion sounded worried. "We should hurry. This feels wrong."

>"Yeah, we need to hurry and get to Merlin as fast as we can."

We were just talking about the forest, and this update makes me feel properly paranoid like the good old times back then. I mean, we have reason to distrust everyone:
>Obeithion
Crackpot already explained some of the reasons. And also, what makes her so certain Merlin is trustworthy when he should be as susceptible as the rest of them? It SEEMS that Manaka was subtly manipulating Obeithion to convince us to try and save this world so she could steal that part of our power and Obeithion is looking at things clearly now that it was pointed out, but what if we're still playing into Manaka's hands? Besides, she says that concepts protect against Manaka's powers, but we know OOC that Manaka was able to render Sakura powerless when she made her offer.
>Flat
What actually happened between him and the doppelganger? Why is Lu Bu so loyal to him? Is he really an idiot or something worse?
>Lancelot
Did he actually speak to God, or was it a certain other omniscient being masquerading as God?
>Gray
Is she really nothing more than an amnesiac, or is the amnesia a cover to make deceiving us easier?
>Morgan
Why didn't she tell us about the doppelganger? Did she really just run out of time? Why didn't she send Shirou and Saber with us? And let's not forget she took Manaka's deal. We've seen how Manaka deals with traitors when she paged the other Manaka and when she tried to delete Rhongomyniad. Was she really that careless this time?

"Yeah, we need to hurry and get to Merlin as fast as we can." there was obviously something terribly wrong about all this, and you didn't want to stick around and find out just what it was that was giving you the creeps. It was strange that Obeithion had changed her tune so quickly about the world now that her original wish to save this world had been denied, but you supposed that she must've simply hardened her heart to the inhabitants of the false world. There was no sense in doing anything but moving forwards, now that she had been convinced that this world wasn't one that could be saved. Her sudden change in outlook could be seen as suspicious, you supposed, but it was more likely that she simply didn't want you to be any more conflicted about your choice than you already had been by having to make it in the first place.

"You won't find an objection with me, Avalon should not be so... lifeless. I do not sense the presence of any enemies, or of any life around us at all, but we should definitely tread with caution as we move." Obeithion had no issues with speeding up, and you partially activated your Dragon Core in order to give yourself the burst of speed that you required in order to keep up with her. She was incredibly fast, but you still didn't have a read on her true capabilities just yet, though it was very obvious that there was no comparison between the Obeithion who you knew and the Obeithion you saw now. The years of experience she had had as the Queen of the Fairies had clearly allowed her to reach the peak of her strength as the manifested form of Hope itself. Though you didn't yet know just how much power that truly allowed her to wield.

The two of you traveled at speeds far eclipsing the speed of sound, so as to make attempting to make conversation on the way to Merlin's Tower an impossibility, and with no telepathic link to Obeithion, you had no way of speaking to her while traveling at all. You instead chose to focus, not allowing yourself to suffer from any distractions as you kept moving forwards. There was clearly something wrong in Avalon, and you didn't want to be off-guard for when it finally showed itself.

Finally, after about ten minutes of travel, Merlin's Tower was close, just a short dash to the entrance, and you'd be able to meet up with Merlin and find out just why Obeithion wanted to meet him. You weren't worried about entering the Tower yourself, even if the enchantment upon it would theoretically be able to seal you within just as it had sealed Merlin inside, you had Rhongomyniad with you. You'd likely sooner destroy all of Avalon with the power of the endless spear than you would allow yourself to be imprisoned by the power of some fairies.
>>
Just as you were about to cross the threshold that lead to the enchantment of the Tower, you heard something from behind you, and you froze in your tracks. The sound of clapping, of the slow and sarcastic variety. You slowly turned around to see the origin of the clapping, and your eyes widened as you saw the source, Morgan le Fay, flanked by each of her Fairy Knights.

"Wow, I really didn't think you'd take this path." Morgan spoke with a smirk on her face as she stared directly into your eyes. "Really, I thought that you'd try to save this world after Obeithion gave you the idea to sacrifice the fragment of Truth to this world, but..." She shrugged. "I suppose that I shouldn't have relied on being able to predict just what you'd do. You always were hard to read, even for somebody connected to the Root." The smirk on her face widened, and your eyes narrowed.

"Manaka." You clenched your fists at the realization that Manaka was puppeteering Morgan around without any shame.

"In the flesh!" She then proceeded to look down at her body before her smirk grew ever wider. "Well, not quite, but you get the point."

"How... how long have you been manipulating her?" You demanded answers from the girl, her insufferably smug expression was being made with Morgan's face, and it was infuriating you.

"Since the moment you arrived in this world, obviously. You think I'd leave anything to chance? You just had to go find Little Miss Fairy Queen though, didn't you?" She pointed a finger in Obeithion's direction. "You always were a disappointment. A doll that doesn't know her place."

"But... what are you doing here? Aren't you in the middle of some sort of ritual that will allow you to-"

"To do what? Take control of the world? Of the universe and of reality itself?" She yawned. "You know how rituals are, I'm just... waiting for the right moment." Damn it! How could she always be one step ahead of you? How the hell were you supposed to defeat an enemy that always knew the right move to make? Who would exploit your own weaknesses against you without mercy?

"So, what is this then? The part where we fight to the death? Because that's a terrible cliche. Didn't you make 6 more worlds for me to struggle my way through?" You tried to get more information out of the girl, but it looked like the time to question her was over.

"Ha! Me? Fight you to the death?" Manaka chuckled, before her chuckling gave way to a maniacal laughter. "Don't be ridiculous, I'm going to make Morgan and her Fairy Knights fight you to the death. Goodbye." Morgan smirked one final time before her eyes glossed over and she stared blankly at you and Obeithion, at her side were each of her knights, and you knew that this could only end poorly. Even if you and Obeithion were powerful, you couldn't defeat all of them at once.
>>
"Shinji." Obeithion drew her blade as the two of you faced off against Morgan and the Knights that were readying themselves for combat themselves. "What do we do?"

>"Run! Through the Threshold!"
>"Fight, we'll think of something!"
>"I've got a plan, but... I'm going to need you to distract the rest while I go after Morgan."

"Run! Through the threshold! They shouldn't follow us if it means they too will get trapped!" Well, that was your hope, and even if it didn't work out like that, you could still simply keep running away from Morgan and her group of knights.

As you turned and raced towards the threshold that separated the outside of the Tower of Avalon from the inside, you heard the rumbling of the earth beneath your feet, you needed to hurry! You and Obeithion managed to cross the threshold before any of the Fairy Knights or indeed Morgan herself had the chance to attack, but just as you were about to continue your retreat, a tremendous wall of stone erupted right in front of you, blocking all forms of escape and forcing you to turn to confront Morgan and her troops.

"Shinji..." Morgan said your name softly as she didn't simply cross the threshold to the Tower of Avalon, but held out a hand and had the entire magical barrier unmake itself, the protective blue lights of the wards that bound Merlin in his eternal prison glowed red before burning away like cinders in an inferno. "I've become the Sovereign of Fairytales..." Morgan's voice was sad. "You've... been lead to Avalon, for it... is the place in which my power is at its peak." Now you knew that she was simply trying to give you information, even if she had cornered you and prevented any hope of escape. "She's been... playing with you from the start." With that last comment, Morgan suddenly flicked her arm upwards, and it was only through your instincts that you managed to avoid the spikes of earth that were sent upwards to impale you.

"I'm really not a fan of this whole brainwashing thing, Morgan." You crossed your arms as you landed atop one of the spikes of earth, which were rendered mostly harmless now that they had lost their momentum. It was a pain balancing on such a small surface, but your martial arts training had taught you to master you inner balance, so it was quite simple. Obeithion meanwhile was simply flying in the air, her stark white copy of Excalibur drawn as she looked down upon her foes. "If you can keep revealing information like this though, would you mind telling me what I have to do to save you and your knights?"
>>
"Save us...?" Morgan held a hand up in the air and your instincts screamed at you to move, barely getting out of the way of a bolt of lightning that crashed down from the sky, and then another, and another. Dozens of bolts of lightning that were barely dodged through the usage of your Dragon Core and your instincts screaming at you to just keep moving, until eventually, the onslaught of magical power ended. "That's where your priorities are all wrong, Shinji." Morgan manifested a staff in her hand before pointing it towards you. "You're trying to save me still, when you should be more concerned about saving yourself!" Suddenly, every single one of the Fairy Knights under Morgan's command leapt, and you prepared yourself to fight back, manifesting Rhongomyniad in order to defend yourself. But... before they reached you, each of the knights froze in mid-air, and you blinked in bewilderment. It was as if they had simply... stopped.

"And that's where you're wrong, mother!" A voice called out from a distance away, and you could feel your spirit begin to raise simply from hearing her voice. "I don't know what you think you're doing with my advisor, or with this imagination world that bitch little girl made for you, but aren't you a little too old to be playing pretend?" You turned around, to the source of the voice, and standing there triumphantly above all others, was Mordred, wearing armor of silver and gold, with a heavy red cloak triumphantly draped around her shoulders. She must've changed her armor at some point, though she was looking more like a ruler than ever.

"Daughter." Morgan looked at her daughter with a cold gaze. Whatever Manaka had done to Morgan, it had clearly removed whatever emotions she might've had towards her daughter. Manaka might have been toying with you before, but this was a very cruel reminder of just what she was capable of doing to the people you cared about. Even if you weren't particularly close to Morgan before all of this, she was still somebody you didn't want to see harmed, especially as she had actually truly seemed to have been sincere about her wish for redemption.

"What's all this I've been told about you making some replacement version of me, anyway?" Mordred hopped down off the rocky wall that had been erected by Morgan, and as she did, Morgan's constructs crumbled to dust before she even hit the ground, as if they had been washed away by a torrential downpour. You barely managed to remain on your feet as you dropped to the ground, the spikes of earth having been destroyed, with all that remained being dust. It was clear that Mordred wasn't playing around with her own powers now. "Oh, is it that one?" Mordred pointed to one of the knights that had been frozen in the air. Wearing armor that was similar to the armor she had worn back in her own life. "No... that's not me, is it?"
>>
Morgan had her mouth clamped shut as she looked up at Mordred in annoyance. What was Mordred playing at? What could her endgame possibly be here? Did she not know that Morgan was being controlled?

"Come on, mom! Don't you wanna talk? It's been a while since we last spoke, hasn't it? A couple of weeks? Ah, I dunno. Time is wonky here, even for me." It was nice to see that Mordred was oozing confidence at least, despite how dire the situation might appear. "Oh! I know! It's the little one with the wings dressed like King Arthur, isn't it!" Mordred singled another of the knights out that you hadn't paid much attention to, one that was wearing an outfit similar to Arturia's though clearly a great deal smaller. You were still trying to figure out what Mordred was doing though. "Aren't you even going to attack me? You should know that your Pretend Knights aren't exactly going to be a threat to me." Mordred wasn't wrong. She had clearly gotten stronger since the last time you saw her too, to be able to so casually wield her powers.

"I... wouldn't..." another voice entered the conversation, and your eyes widened as you heard the voice. "Be so sure!" A sound of shattering echoed around you as the Fairy Knight Agravain dropped down from the sky, leaping towards Mordred in some sort of pounce, though Mordred managed to get out of the way of the attack in time.

"Huh, guess I was wrong after all." She drew Clarent and pointed it at the knight. "Maybe some of your Pretend Knights aren't complete pushovers after all."

"Agravain. You have my permission to reveal your True Name." Morgan spoke calmly and without emotion, and the masked foe cackled in delight.

"Sorry, Mordred." The white armor wearing girl spoke sincerely. "But... you should already know that you can't defeat me." She pulled off her helmet to confirm your fears. That the Fairy Knight Agravain was none other than Arcueid Brunestud, the Princess of the True Ancestors and the mightiest 'Fairy' of all.

[Status Updated!]

"What, you think this is a surprise? Merlin already figured out all of your fairies a while back." Mordred seemed to be relaxed about things still. "Which is why I bought some back-up." Arcueid's eyes widened and she leapt backwards, just in time to avoid an explosion of force just where she had been standing, the source was a figure that was clearly shrouded by some form of illusion, that even the Eye of Truth in its passive state could barely see their presence, though just as you were about to send your magical energy into your eye to see them properly, the illusion dispelled itself, and you saw that the attacker was none other than...

"Lancelot?!" You called out the name of the man who you had left behind and nearly choked in surprise at the sword he was wielding, and Mordred laughed.
>>
"Honestly, while it's good that you were being cautious, sis... couldn't you at least tell that Lancelot was somebody we could trust?" She chuckled a little more before she continued. "Maybe I shouldn't be too harsh on you... Merlin was the one who realized that he wasn't at risk of Her control after all... he even gave him Excalibur on loan!" Morgan was eerily quiet as she observed the situation, of Arcueid being temporarily beaten back by Lancelot. Obeithion looked ashamed at her decision to leave Lancelot behind, but a friendly, if savage, smile from her elder sister seemed to reassure her. Family reunions aside though, you needed to talk to Mordred now.

"You have no idea how happy I am to see you, Mordred, but... what's the plan here?" For once, Mordred was the one who held all the cards, and you, her advisor, were ironically asking her for advise. You would've greeted Lancelot, but... he was a little preoccupied.

"The plan? The plan is for you to get your ass moving, Advisor. Merlin is waiting for you, and he's about the only person who seems to really know what's going on." Really? Merlin is? You were surprised that he was somehow the most informed person in this situation, but then again... he did have a high rank of Independent Manifestation... could that have provided him resistance to Manaka's powers? Or perhaps allowed him to even traverse the other worlds? You nearly cursed at having ignored that possibility. "Come on, even my powers won't hold all those Pretend Knights forever. Arcueid already broke out." Mordred's confident facade slipped a little bit as her vision tracked upwards.

It's not that I don't trust Mordred and Lancelot to kick their asses, it's moreso that I think clearing out the Faeniggers and getting Arcuid back would probably make life easier for us in the long haul.
Also, based WhatIs, listening to his audience of spoiled brats.

We need Merlin to help us break the hold Manaka/Morgan has over Arcueid without wasting any Truth.
Do you really think that Arc is serving Morgan of her own free will?

We all miss WitchWife and the Easy Mode Knife she could poke with at will.
we could break the Manaka bond on our own without wasting truth, it would just cost some mana that we can regain in ~5 minutes bc Avalon has fucktons of ambient mana.
Basically, assert dominance, mindlove Arc and co, then take a deep breath of magic fairy air.

"Alright, good luck, Mordred." You decided that it would probably be wise to heed the words of the rightful king of Britain, she did seem to have this handled, and you got the feeling that Merlin was about the only person who might've figured out a way to overcome Manaka. He might've devised some method to overcome the nigh-omnipotent brat's power... or at least that was what you were being lead to believe, anyway.

"Ha! Luck? Advisor, I don't need luck to deal with a bunch of fakers!" You briefly wondered if she somehow picked up that term from Gilgamesh somehow, but you decided it didn't matter. "Just get going!" She turned to face her mother as you took off towards the Tower of Avalon. You needed to get to Merlin as quickly as you possibly could, if he had a way to solve all this, then it was your only chance!

Leaving Mordred, Lancelot and Obeithion behind to face off against Morgan and Arcueid, you sprinted towards the tower, fortunately, there was no more opposition as you approached the base of the tower. There was no ambush that had somehow been laid for you by Manaka or Morgan, and you probably had Merlin himself to thank for that. Even if he acted otherwise most of the time, Merlin was still a ludicrously powerful spellcaster when he needed to be, though you were worried about Merlin too. Especially considering that he had never been granted a fragment of Truth to protect him from Manaka's influence. How could he have resisted her power without Truth?

You prepared yourself for a fight as you entered the Tower of Avalon through a huge ornate doorway, ascending up a long spiral of stairs as you climbed the skyscraper sized tower. The place which Merlin knew as his prison... though as far as prisons went, it wasn't exactly uncomfortable, it really gave an impression that was opposite to that which a prison should give somebody. Then again, seeing as it was constructed originally by fairies, you supposed that it being terrible at conveying its own purpose was something to be expected. There were plenty of side rooms that branched off of the spiraling stairs, but you ignored each of them. Somehow you knew that you needed to get to the top of the tower.

Eventually, after climbing up what must've been two hundred floors worth of stairs, you found yourself approaching the pinnacle of the tower. The peak of the ginormous building, and no doubt the place in which Merlin currently was. You drew Rhongomyniad as a precaution, not knowing just what you might encounter on the final floor of the tower.

You crashed through the set of doors at the top of the set of stairs, and you found yourself in what was obviously the workshop of a magus... you could even feel yourself enter through the bounded field as you crashed through the door, and you looked around cautiously. It was to be expected that this floor was Merlin's workshop, and you weren't safe yet...
>>
"Oh! Shinji! I'm so happy to meet you... again!" Suddenly, an unfamiliar female voice called out, startling you. That certainly wasn't Merlin, but... who? Your question was answered when you turned around and saw a short white haired woman wearing robes similar to Merlin's, and you immediately understood just what was going on. The... other version of Merlin? That certainly wasn't what you were expecting. "What's wrong? Confused? I turned myself into a woman to..."

"Yeah, you aren't going to trick me with this, Merlin. I know that you're the other Merlin... from Arthur's world, right?" Considering that Manaka had taken control of Arthur before becoming a threat to all of reality, it was obvious as to why this Merlin had gotten herself involved in all of this, and with her Independant Manifestation, it's not like she couldn't reach this place, either.

"..." Merlin huffed before she leaned against a wall. "That's right. Hey! Why didn't you tell me he already knew about me?" Merlin called out to another in the workshop, and received an irritating chuckle as her response. There was no doubt about the identity of the source of the chuckle. The male Merlin.

"Because I thought it would be more amusing if I let you try to trick him that I'd turned into a woman... unfortunately for him, that's one similarity that the two of us don't share."

"Yeah, whatever you say, Magi Mari." You glowered at Merlin at the reminder of one of the... things that you'd really prefer to be able to forget. Merlin didn't seem to care about your use of the name of the idol persona that he used to catfish Solomon... or could use in a different set of circumstances to the one that you were in. "Regardless of everything else... how can I be sure that the two of you won't betray me? You don't have a source of Truth to protect you like everyone else does."

"I can answer that one, friend." A voice came from right next to you, and you nearly leapt out of your skin as you saw Alan Y.T Thorpe put an arm around your shoulder. Where the hell did he come from?! "Truth... while it does give people protection from that little Usurper's powers, you shouldn't think of yourself as the only being capable of bestowing that protection." The avatar of Nyarlathotep strode over to the two Merlins with a smirk on his face. "I needed some pieces in the game, so I provided these two my protection so that they could provide me some... assistance... in destroying this world."

"Wait... you want to destroy this world now? Why... why don't you?" If you remembered correctly, Nyarlathotep's true form could easily destroy the entire planet if he so chose, but Alan shook his head.
>>
"I can't risk exposing my true form to the girl as she is now. Her power is enough that if she was given a good shot at me, I couldn't be certain I would be able to survive her attack." Nyarlathotep himself was now wary of the power that Manaka held. "Which is why I'm here. I need your help to destroy the worlds that the Usurper has created, this avatar... while it is powerful, does not have the capacity to destroy that which serves as this world's Linchpin alone..." Alan frowned. "It's about all I can do to ensure that this place is hidden from the Usurper's view. Even if she should observe us right now, she would simply see you and Merlin conversing about the creation of a means to undo her control, though that's not the goal here." Alan shook his head and looked at you with a dangerous smirk.

"So... what do I need to do then?" You were getting worried by that smirk of his... also, wasn't he supposed to have his own Servant? Then again, he likely wasn't here himself, you'd be stupid to believe that Nyarlathotep wouldn't be capable of giving his vessel Independent Manifestation of the highest grade.

Alan turned away from you and started to pace around the room. "You're going to need to go after the Linchpin of the world. It's childish and pretty utterly predictable, but the Usurper, in addition to stealing a great deal of your power for herself, separated the parts of your power that she was unable to retain for herself into seven manifestations of living power."

The female Merlin cut into the conversation, elaborating on what Alan had already spoken about "Predictable and childish in that she modeled them after the original seven sins of humanity, each being of Truth representing one such evil of humanity... you can think of them as... I suppose Neo-Beasts would be a good term for them. Beasts of Humanity that were spawned of one who is beyond Humanity... because of that nature, and the nature of Beasts needing to be overcome by Humanity, only you are capable of dealing a deathblow to the Neo-Beast of this world and reclaiming your power from it." A startling revelation, but not one that you weren't prepared for.

"Personally, I like to call them 'Sin'-jis." the male Merlin had his arms crossed and a serene expression on his face as he told a stupid joke, which earned him an annoyed glare from his female counterpart. You decided it would be best to ignore Merlin and focus on the matter at hand.

"I already knew what I had to do, so while I do appreciate the added context to my goal, it hasn't changed. Please tell me that there was a reason for me coming here." While the information was useful, it didn't change what you had to do.
>>
"Don't be so ungrateful, Shinji." Alan shook his head. "Haven't you been reunited with Mordred thanks to coming here? Besides, that was only the half of it." Alan suddenly reached into his pocket and revealed a short pure black knife, it seemed to drip with shadows that weren't actually there. "I've had these two help me create this, and I've infused it with as much power as I could."

"What... is it?" You knew that whatever it was that Alan was holding, it was something that made any weapon to be forged by humans or their gods seem like a joke in comparison.

"I call it the Truthbane Knife. From your perspective, it would've taken me several trillion years to create this, but the name should speak for itself." He threw the knife towards you and you grabbed it out of the air, looking at it in amazement. The eldritch power contained within the knife was the absolute anathema to Truth, the unassailable power of Truth had finally met an equal, it seemed. "Of course, it's a dagger that can destroy Truth, if the name didn't already make that obvious."

"But... that shouldn't be possible." You marveled as you looked at the blade, and Alan shrugged in response.

"Normally, it wouldn't be. Against you with the full power of Truth at your disposal, this dagger would crumble to nothingness, I'm sure. But as the power of Truth is fragmented between many, the Truthbane Knife is capable of destabilizing and destroying Truth." You didn't really know if you wanted to ask Alan if he started the creation of this weapon before or after you lost control of Truth to Manaka, but you supposed it didn't matter. "The only reason I haven't taken care of things myself is because of what Merlin said. The beings born of your power can only be truly defeated by that which spawned them, meaning that even if I were to use this weapon on them myself, they would simply reoccur the moment their form was obliterated." What a pain in the ass.

"Right, unless you have any more questions, me and female me are going to have you teleported directly to the current location of the Linchpin... I ought to thank Morgan for destroying the enchantment..." Merlin briefly smirked as he looked at you.

>"Can this be used to sever Manaka's control over people too?"

>"Can you send me back to help against Morgan now?"

This knife has suddenly become our most useful and dangerous tool, due to the consequences of losing it to an enemy.
That said, we can probably use it on Manaka if we ever get the chance in order to nerf her ass back down to normal.

Even if the Truthbane Knife can't sever Manaka's control over people, it's still be a good idea to use it on Morgan and Arcueid to deal with the concepts that Manaka applied to them.

Taking away Morgan's ability to control Fairytales will make dealing with the Sin-ji of this world much easier, and knocking out Arcueid's Magic Destruction means that the Merlins can send her to GBJ until we actually can sever Manaka's control over her.

We might not get another chance to ask about the knife. We should ask questions. If destroying the sinji frees Morgan and Arcueid, then we don't actually need to fight them. Manaka doesn't know we have it yet, but this changes when we use it for the first time. We should make it count.

"I have a few questions before I decide on anything, actually." Even though you were in a hurry, it was clear that these three had information that could quite literally mean the difference between life and death, so you had to ask these questions, you didn't have a choice. The first such question was of course... "This dagger... can it be used to sever Manaka's control over people as well as destroy Truth?"

"It should be possible, yes... though the one problem is that the magic that binds those you might wish to save is that the spell is connected to their heart." Nyarlathotep looked at the dagger in your hand with cold eyes. "I shouldn't need to tell you why plunging a dagger like that into the heart of anybody might... not have the intended result." So... it could do it, but it was just likely going to be lethal? "It's not like the dagger your witch bride carries about, the Truthbane Knife was designed above all else as a weapon, and not a tool... but... I can't say for certain. You might find a way to use it to rescue your friends, even with that in mind."

"Sadly, Alan is correct." The female Merlin spoke now. "While that weapon might be your best hope of cutting the bonds that bind your friends, unless you can somehow reach their hearts with it, you're never going to do more than lethally wound them."

"Wait... reach... their heart..." Then it was possible! But... was it possible? Could you still find a way to enter somebody's inner world without having Truth freely available to you? You decided to bring up the possibility. "Reaching their heart physically with the dagger might be an impossibility, but... what if I could do it conceptually? 'Alan' you've shown the ability to enter the inner worlds of other people before, so... there must be a way to do it, right?"

"Sometimes I forget just how sharp you can be." Alan smirks. "That's right, I did meet you within Betty's inner world one time... I'm surprised that you haven't inquired about her well-being, honestly." You immediately frowned at the eldritch being, who shrugged. "I assure you, her link to my father has protected her from the Usurper, though even I cannot determine her current position." You frowned, but were happy for what little that you managed to find out regardless. "As for entering the Inner World of another... it is something that can be done... on a conceptual level. This World, Inner Worlds, Dream Worlds, Reality Marbles, Secret Gardens... all function on similar principles to one such as myself..." He held out a hand. "Here, pass me back Truthbane for a moment."

You do as Alan bids, and he studies the weapon intently for a moment before tossing it back to you. "What... did you just do?" You were concerned, but it was his construct in the first place.
>>
"Take a look." You looked at the pitch black dagger in your hand, and nearly took a step back when an eyeball opened up on it, staring directly into your soul before you flipped the dagger around to force the eye to stare at the floor. You look at Alan again, but the smile doesn't leave his face. "I might've needed some help to create something that could counteract Truth, but entering the worlds of other people is child's play." A reminder of just how powerful Nyarlathotep was, that he so casually modified the weapon he just gave you.

"What exactly did you do, anyway?"

"I made it so it can drag you into the inner worlds of other people. All you need to do is will that eye to open and stab somebody with the blade... while it will still hurt them a great deal, it won't be lethal... after that, you'll be dragged into their inner world through my power. But even so you should be careful, without Truth, there's no telling whether you'd actually be able to escape after being dragged in, and I'm not going to be able to personally fish you out of the damn places." Alan's change to the weapon was useful, though you really weren't a fan of still having to stab your friends if you wanted to save them. "Remember, you don't have Truth readily available right now, so all you'll be able to do is destroy things within the Inner Worlds you see with Truthbane. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it." Despite giving you the tool to do such a thing, Alan was warning you off of it. Some of his true nature shining through?

"Right..." Alan had given you a means to save Morgan that you hadn't been expecting, though that wasn't to say that it wasn't still ridiculously dangerous, considering you had no idea what the Inner Worlds of those corrupted by Manaka will even look like, nor if they were even places that you could survive in at all. It was more than possible that entering such a world would prove immediately fatal. You wouldn't put it past Manaka to have booby trapped the Inner Worlds of your friends somehow. "Let's move on to something else... related to that last question... what happens if I use it on Manaka, or myself?"

"That depends, are you or Manaka actually Truth given form? I know that's what you both like to say, but... until the day comes when either of you decide to cast off the trappings of humanity in order to ascend into the form of a being made of Pure Truth, you'd just get cut as if it were a regular knife... of course, a regular knife that cleaves through any defense that you could put up, but a regular knife all the same. You think if I had a weapon that could instantly kill the Usurper, I wouldn't just use it on her myself?" Alan sounded frustrated with you, and you kind of understood his frustration.
>>
"...Good point." It wouldn't make sense if he could simply kill Manaka in a single strike with the weapon he made, he was still clearly relying on you at least to some degree, and... wait... what was that he said about Manaka saying she was Truth given form? That had... very dangerous implications. "Alright, another question then... what happens to everyone in the world when I destroy the Linchpin?"

"Ah, now there's a mystery even I haven't observed! What would happen to those of a false world when the keystone of their reality was taken? Would they die? Cease to exist? Have never existed in the first place? Or perhaps they would be banished to a realm outside of this one?" Alan suddenly looked at you seriously. "I've never observed a set of events like this in countless aeons, so I have no more idea as to what the fate of these people will be than you do. Perhaps in some way they will continue to exist on, within Truth itself? Though that would be the optimist's approach, the realist would say they would cease existing." It wasn't a good answer, but it wasn't a totally hopeless one, which was odd, considering who you were dealing with here. If they existed on somehow, then that meant that it wasn't completely hopeless, right? "Or if you're asking about those who aren't native to this world, then I'm afraid I still don't know, so you'll have to refer to my first answer."

"Hmmph." You crossed your arms now, not entirely satisfied with the answer that you had received, but having to accept it regardless. If he didn't know, he didn't know, and you couldn't exactly change that. "Then finally... my last question is... well, Manaka wanted me to destroy the... Sinji..." You decided to try to inject some of Merlin's light-hearted humor into the situation, but it didn't work. "She wanted me to destroy them too, so how is using this knife to slay them any different?"

"Ah! This question. Right, well let's say that there are... three outcomes that are likely to occur when a manifestation of Truth is slain. The first outcome is that you, the originator of Truth, reclaim the lost power, absorbing the fragment of Truth back into yourself... the second outcome is that the manifestation is allowed to disperse, and the dispersal of Truth makes 'Reality' a little bit more 'Real'... though that's not likely to happen, because of the third outcome. Wherein the power of the fragment, now without a mind of its own, is stolen by the Usurper once again, which is what would happen if you attempted to allow the power to disperse into the world."

"But... didn't you say that this weapon destroyed Truth? Wouldn't a single strike be enough to erase it entirely?" You really hoped that Nyarlathotep wasn't trying to trick you here, but he shook his head.

"That really depends... the Fragments of Truth... they aren't exactly made of Pure Truth either... despite what it may sound like, they are based on you, after all. At their base, they are Shinji Makiri... though with none of your memories or powers other than their own, gleamed from the sin they represent... now, if you were to stab them in their core, then yes, it may end up destroying the Truth making them up, but... I have faith in your ability not to do that." Weird having an Outer God tell you that he has faith in you, but you supposed you'd just have to accept that this insanity was your life now. "Now, I take it you want to go and try to save Morgan?"

"But... there's no time! We don't even know if what Shinji suggested could even work!" the male Merlin tried to interject, but Alan turned to look at him with a dangerous gaze.

"Shut it, wizard. I'll remind you that the only reason you're not dancing on strings right now is because of me." Alan spoke to Merlin with venom in his tone, and Merlin shivered a little at the command. Looks like even for somebody like Merlin, being threatened by an Outer God was a threat that their body simply couldn't ignore. "If my friend wants to do something, it's not your place to tell him otherwise, understood?" You were stunned at Alan's opinion of you, and Merlin just nodded in response. "Good. Now, Shinji?"

>"Of course I want to try to save Morgan."
>"Actually, I'd rather bring things to a close here. Send me to the Fragment of Truth."
>"Hey, I've got an idea! Why don't you bring everyone here instead?"
>Write-in...

>"Of course I want to try to save Morgan."
I really want to go "You know Nyarles, you're a good friend too. You should go human avatar more often." or something at him. He's been nonstop based to us... but then, that's his schtick as Crawling Chaos, isn't it? Be as based as possible while being an underhanded unpredictable bastard the entire time. God is against us being on his side, but you can still be friends with somebody without being on their side, can't you?
>>
>>5033673
>"Actually, I'd rather bring things to a close here. Send me to the Fragment of Truth."
Nyarly is a good friend. A knife that can cut through Truth and can know be used to enter Inner Worlds. Those Worlds will certainly be made as dangerous as possible by Manaka, since concepting people was our favourite trick.More dangerous than the Shapeless Isles, I'd guess. In there, we'll just have to destroy things and hope we don't accidentally destroy something important. And as he said, without Truth we don't even know if we'll be able to leave. Hell, he doesn't even recommend it himself. But the choice is ours, and it's very tempting. We do want to save Morgan, just probably not like this. A masterful temptation by the Crawling Chaos. Manaka should be taking notes if she wants to sell us on helping her when we meet.

Good to know that Betty is alright. She's probably keeping Abby safe as well. Alitheia and Ourobora are definitely fine due to their connection to the Truth, but I'm worried about the rest. I don't see an obvious way they could be protected.

We can't save Morgan as we are now. We AT LEAST a single fragment of our power back.

As is, we -Might- be able to get Arc back the conventional way without killing her, but that's going to be much easier said than done.

Having never played Kingdom Hearts, What are the similarities here?

Also, the vote is tied by my count, and I'd like to ask you guys why you want to ask the Merlins if they fucked in the situation we're in? They, or Morgan or anyone else might get brutally killed in the next few minutes while attempting to help us save everything we care about. It really doesn't seem appropriate now. It reminds me of meme votes past.

If we really want to ask them a last minute question before the boss fight, the only one I can think of that would be appropriate is to ask if Olga is ok. Merlin was the one who dragged her into this mess, after all, and it would make sense that Shinji worries about her right after being chastised by our pal Nyarly for not asking about Betty and being told that she (and probably Abby with her) are safe.

Yeah, asking the Merlins if they fucked is totally on par with Padoru Padoru, you fucking faggot.

It has a lot of "heart" as conceptual stuff/soul and having to fix that and the big bad made copies of himself and added himself to make more of himself until there were 13 of himself.
And he can also time travel to tell himself from the past about his plans.
>>
>>5035220
>meme vote
Nah, the padoru retardation caused us to lose a unholy amount of time, this will at most cause the merlins to blush and nyarly to laugh.
>>
>>5035274
And yet, those arguing for Padoru didn't know what effects it would have. It was just a silly dance, what was the worst that could happen. Not to mention that the situation was different as well. It was AFTER we had killed the bad guy and most of our friends were safe, AFTER a very long a stressful day, not right at the start of it, and right before a pivotal battle with everything on the line and while the lives of everyone we know and care about are at stake.

Why are you not taking Crawling Chaos seriously at all?
You do realize he probably just gave you an avatar of himself in that knife? Literally trillions or more of years worth of energy in it too.
Or that using it can potentially risk unreality and horror that follows with it?
It's not your friend.

Just because either it or God said something doesn't mean a damn thing.
Entities of their level plot on time frames beyond your intellectual conceptions, the sheer idea that there's anything incomprehensible to it is mockery of your intelligence, barring atypical situations.
They may very well have been responsible for the entire event from the start.

Shinji literally could pick up a Mythos book in a bookstore, call God and Frenchman for a talk and play some board games or watch movies.
Most of concerns Shinji has are irrelevant given his situation and multi meta perspective.
Personally I'd advise sealing Manaka.
>>
>>5035643
>You'd be foolish to trust a known deceiver.
Trust is the greatest weapon of any half decent deceiver and the farthest i'm willing to give old Nyarly is that we know he's more interested in tormenting humanity than he is in outright destruction and probably won't directly screw us over at least until after Manaka's removed as a threat but at the same time I fully expect him to betray us if only because while she's too much of a destabilizing force we're far too much of a stabilizing force.
Frankly I'd be almost disappointed if the second she's gone he doesn't try something like sticking a second knife in our spine after we're courteous enough to field-test its effectiveness for him.
>>
>>5035663
And he expects you to expect him to betray you, naturally, and can know about what you know about him by virtue of providing information about himself in meta sense.
After all, that name came to Lovecraft in his dreams, right?
The problem isn't in expectation, but in not falling for the plot.
Given the interest in Manaka all of them have, it stands to reason that her removal will have immediate consequences and a direct threat to survival, of Shinji himself and all worlds, people and everything that was involved with him.
There may be simply not enough time or resources for a counter attack.
A bad end is rather close.
>>
>>5035663
A second knife sounds too unsophisticated for his tentacles.
>>
>>5035665
>A bad end is rather close
The only way to prevent that possible Bad End is to go all the way back to before the Pseudo-Lostbelts even happened.
Face it, buddy. Nyarly is actually on our side right now.
>>
>>5035676
And it can be done, too.
Nyarly is on his own side, always. I'm not saying to be rude to him, but do consider a possibility that once you deal with Manaka, all those worlds and Shinji himself shall get axed off, much like a concept art piece that doesn't make it.
Amongst one of many goals of his, is a return of the world to its original state, without human order, which doesn't bode well for humanity at all.
>>
>>5035681
And there's no need to be rude to him at all, if for no other reason than pity he displayed in earliest threads, when he said how no one will understand Shinji.
>>
>>5035666
Poor wording but nothing new from me; meant it as an example but as I see it can only trust to work with us in as far as Manaka winning here even in the best case for them would likely result in the birth of another, more active, Azathoth. The knife probably works as intended at least for what he wants us to know but do note that were desperate enough he can tip his hand that he's working on countermeasures to us and it seems more interested in removing Truth from the board.
May not know exactly what plotting but his fundamental nature is that of a malicious deceiving manipulator, goodwill isn't in his nature unless it benefits him and at least for the moment it does.
>>
>>5035686
He doesn't have a fundamental nature, ostensibly. He can take any nature.
>>
>>5035686
Manaka winning will probably result in reality being rewritten, which may cause incompatibility with other structures of reality and accelerating total entropy, but that's just a presumption.

Seriously, it's like they forgot half of 5chins' schtick is in being a faceless mass of retarded mooks who band together for miracles. Cuts down significantly on the us vs. them stupidity. I will say though that without them the Quest is a lot slower, hope Lovecraft's Cat gets the balls to come back around again. When we actually cooperated and weren't just going at each other's throats, shit was good. Working out the haremshit was a rough patch and a half, though I made sure to never skip. Just glad we're finally over the DBZ powerups and can get back to my favorite program, watching Wakame-kun fight and overcome great obstacles with every fiber of his being. I doubt this quest is dead but lets presume that for some reason it is.

If this quest were to be revived I would do the following.

Retcon literally everything starting with the point of us deciding to announce our harem and go back to that point in time to before we announced it aka when we voted to announce it.

Then give the users two options.

A: No Harem, we must choose one and ONLY one girl (would probably devolve into Medea v Sakura)

B: A harem of no more than THREE people. No more no less and one of the choices is already locked as Tamamo. Users have to choose the other two (Medea and Sakura would probably win out).

After this is decided the quest continues on as normal from that point in time. Now mind you this is what I would personally do but I am not the QM. WhatIs probably wouldn’t do this.

TLDR;
If the quest is dead (it isn’t), if revived retcon everything that happened after a certain point and make people choose between if they want to go for a single girl or if they want to go for a three person only harem with Tamamo locked in.

Sorry for the autism here I’m tired as all hell and my brain just wanted to write this shit out.

Heh. It's funny. It's really funny. The quest is dead, killed by retarded cooming, retarded autism and retarded memes. Standing on its corpse, some of you want to turn the clock back, before things became too bad (and when exactly was that, I wonder). Some of you still want to make things worse. And almost all of you blame me, the guy who was against EVERY SINGLE ONE of those things.

Being a namefag was a pain. I'm never doing that again. But namefaggotry has one massive advantage, now at the end: anyone can look back and see what I voted for, what I argued for, what I raged for. You can see what I wanted to happen and what ended up happening instead. What about you anons? What did you vote for? Did you vote to make Sakura cry? Did you vote to turn Shinji into a schizo? Did you vote for memes, again and again? Well, did you?

>>5051419
It did. Congratulations, Illyafren. I argued with you in the vote that made Sakura almost cry, and more than once since then. Now you have the unique distinction of writing the Quest's final write-in. To you, and all like you, sincerely, omedetou!

Look at this fagguette and laugh
>>
>>5051569
your speech would have more merit, had you not raged so hard for Sakura, who we were only ever meant to help have a better life.
Your insistence that we plant our seed in her has helped lead us down this path. You claim that you tried to stop this path, yet you were one of the ones who set us on it in the first place.
>>
>>5051574
No more laughter,
Only tears now.
Maybe one day I'll come back to questing.
But now, this quest is on indefinite hiatus.
I'm just not having fun writing anymore.

I still stand by my stament that decision killed quest since it worsened the cooming and attracted retarded posters like the saiyan. Whatis and nigger probably said that opening the harem too early would make things worse and they were right since this SOL cooming hell killed half of us. You can blame it on the ilya guy all you want but you're still the major reason why most of the playerbase died. Ilya guy might be the nail in the coffin. Seeing you seethe on that padoru vote is still too funny. At the end of day no one won maybe the geoff fags nigger got the right idea and fucked off.

It's been a blast WhatIs those 3 months during the orochi arc was the best i hope whatever quest you write next can reach that same level of writing and excitement. I'll miss most of you guys especially batman you were annoying and retarded but seeing you post dead quest along with a coom pic is too funny and for being ash ketchum's only fan. Later nerds maybe we can meet again some other time in some quest and have fun.
>>
>>5051591
Next time let the coom win.

Batman is always lurking in the shadows. I'll be there when you need me most.

So, does this mean she wins?

Yep, best waifu won in the end.

Whatever you decide to do, can you announce it on your twitter, WhatIsAQM?

You haven't used it since January, and it really is the easiest way to see updates.

I feel no regrets about the vote, i see nothing wrong with it.

Next time we should do this without namefagging.

Just get an AI to write xD

Sure, I will.

wow what a shock
you've blamed your players in the past but this feels like a trend with whatis' inability to control his players as a common thread

In the meantime if you guys want a fun isekai quest

>>5044492

This KH Isekai quest has been great so far, though fair warning. No metaknowledge so you cant metagame this shit.

Until we meet again anons. Until we meet again.
>>
>>5051569

I have no regrets. When I voted, it was for the best possible outcome for everyone involved and to enable graceful partings where possible.

I just hope WhatIs learned their lesson in writing romance. Then again, the setting he worked off is rather poor reference point to begin with.

Well well well. Its on FFN now. Just the first chapter for now but thats a surprise. Don’t expect any changes, it’ll probably just be the exact same as whats here on /qst/. Hell I’ll be surprised if there ARE any changes (barring small insignificant things like fixes to grammar when needed that is)

This has actually given me an idea, however.
I may rewrite Fate/Paradox Reincarnator as a fanfic with major divergences and changes.

Look out for it.

Posting this here for the last time
>I want this Shinji to use his Truth manipulation of reality to permanently make Betty able to be impregnated by himself, while in the middle of passionate lovey-dovey soul-enriching lovemaking sex (a Servant being able to conceive an factual inability only defied by lust-ridden doujins) followed by pumping her now-fertile loli womb full of life-creating otherworldly-mana-level S+ rank semen for as long as possible, hugging her soft cute yet inherently-alien body tightly to his efficiently-toned muscular self honed over a decade of martial arts training, gently caressing her silken hair that smells of nice yet unnatural things that appeal to this Shinji on a level he cannot describe but only comprehend, hearing Betty sigh in a pure bliss and ecstasy that echoes this Shinji's, both of them content in their hearts and minds that a blessed child is assured of their union, and all three of this Shinji's Origins acting in full concert with this most pure and yet most defiling act - Creating new life by passing on foreign (via his outer isekai state), magical (via his crests and mana), and biological (genes and others) parts of himself; Changing and Destroying a fundamental irreconcilability irreversibly (allowing a Heroic Spirit from outside time and space to conceive in the present) to make way for a beautiful Truth to be born.

Imagine finding out about the demise of Shinjiquest via a twitter notification of all things. Such is life.

Best of luck with the fanfic redux of the storyline though, WhatIs.

>>5053507
Also, to the Anons that were still after Fate/ content on /qst/, I've been putting the limited spare time I had in between wageslaving into planning out more of my own quest. At this stage its got more than enough characters and plot scenarios to function like a decent length VN with multiple routes among other things. So I guess if I get around to actually publishing it I should be able to start in the coming weeks as work dies down for the year. It's a "traditional" grail war with a lot of OC and autism as people would have expected from me.

Credit to WhatIs for the image mock-up he made for me a few months ago, along with the other edits he's made for me in the past.
