You didn't want to have to deal with this at all, and the two men were so much weaker than you were that there wasn't much point in not just knocking them out, so without any further delay, you used your far greater speed to disable both of the men with one rapid hit to the neck each. You only needed two quick strikes and then it was done. The two newly suspicious soldiers were completely unconscious.

"Everyone. We have a little bit of time before the Gurus will finish creating the portal to the Ocean Palace. Does anybody have any ideas on how we're actually going to defeat the Queen?" Crono seemed to have taken the lead, at least when it came to asking questions of the rest of his allies.

"The best way to defeat Zeal is to either overpower her or kill her before she can defend herself. She can't be negotiated with... not at this point." Magus responded to Crono, but he got a lot of looks for his own suggestion, not that you can really blame everyone else for reacting to Magus like that. He wouldn't exactly be very popular among everyone else after all that he has done, who you were thankful wasn't currently here.

"You might be fine with it, Magus. But... The rest of us obviously have issues when it comes to killing other people." Lucca frowned at Magus, who just shrugged. He obviously didn't care about Lucca's moral issues with his suggestions. Why would he? This is a man who led an army of demons just for the power that doing such a thing would grant him and how helpful it would be in achieving his long-term goals. Honestly? You were also in support of Magus. While Lucca and her friends were all obviously very idealistic, Magus was incredibly cynical, and you were a realist. You understood that against somebody like Zeal, the only way to resolve things was likely to kill her, and that Magus was right.

"You'll regret thinking like that." Magus just shook his head, irritated at the resistance he was getting from Lucca. "There are some people who you can't negotiate with. Zeal is one such person. You've shown no issue with killing monsters up to this point, and I can assure you that Zeal is a far more terrible monster than any mere beast you've dealt with in the past."

"That might be the case, but thinking like you do isn't healthy, Magus. Can't you have a little bit of hope?" Magus scowled as Lucca asked him that, but before he got an opportunity to respond, one of the Gurus stepped forward to talk instead.
>>
"I regret to say but... while Melchior, Gaspar and I can open up a portal to the Ocean Palace, the portal itself will only be able to take three people at once, and the location you will appear in the Ocean Palace will each be different. The Gurus will all go together as the last group, but the rest of you will be required to go in groups. I suggest you decide who will go together now, be warned that the Ocean Palace contains the greatest monsters of Zeal as guards. You will not reach the queen without conflict." The Guru of Reason informed you all that you once again were required to split up.

>Does anyone know where any Time Rifts are? It might be a good idea to grab two more of the others, so we have full teams.

I want each team to have a healer, but Marle isn't here, so that can't happen.
I also want Ayla on our team, but that'd leave Chrono's team too weakened without a third member.
And leaving Magus alone is shown to be a bad idea.
And with all the actual people here, having everyone with the allies they started with just makes sense, for strategy, it's harder to plan a fight with an unknown Hero Unit's abilities at our side.

"OK, then in that case, Magus, you'll go with me and Khive, while Lucca, Crono and Ayla will go as a group of 3 as well." You decided yourself, you were the person who had the most experience with stuff like this here with the exception of maybe Magus, and... well, you doubted that the others would trust Magus enough to actually allow him to form the groups... or at least they wouldn't happily go along with whatever he suggested. No, it was best for you to decide these things.

"And what about me?" Flea tilted his head at you, surprised that you hadn't included him in your team organization, but you shook your head in response.

"You'll be going by yourself, Flea. You're a shapeshifter, right? I have faith in you that you'll be able to remain both undetected and out of trouble within the Ocean Palace thanks to your skills. Can I count on that?"

"Of... of course you can!" Flea seemed happy that you were taking into account his own abilities, and with that out of the way, you turned to the Gurus. You didn't want to wait any longer to get going now. Flea seemed happy to have been given a task that relied upon his special skill, even though you were uncertain of just how much usage you would be able to get from the shapeshifter within the Ocean Palace. It would feel like a complete waste for you not to take the most use you could get from his skill set, and he did seem pretty damn loyal to you after he had agreed to become your familiar or whatever the hell ended up happening that made him so loyal to you.

"We've all decided now, is the portal almost done?" You asked the three Gurus, and Balthazar nodded his head. The three gurus clapped their hands together a single time as they stood in a triangle formation apart from one another, and in the exact middle point of the three gurus, a portal opened up.

"It is indeed ready. Be careful within the Ocean Palace. Even for a warrior of your caliber, there are horrors within that place that even we Gurus shudder to imagine." Melchior spoke calmly, before he handed Crono a dagger that seemed to be forged out of a sparkling red rock. "Should you end up confronting Lavos, I forged this weapon that ought to weaken him should you strike him with it. It will not be much, but it might provide you all the opportunity you need to fatally wound the monster." It was a short unfamiliar looking blade, but it seemed to contain a great deal of power, you could tell that just from the way it shimmered in Crono's hand.
>>
"Alright, Melchior. I'll do my best." Crono nodded as he looked at the Guru in the eye. "Rettace! Good luck! Come on, Ayla, Lucca! We're going!" Bravely, Crono leaped through the portal and disappeared from sight with his allies following directly behind him. That boy might not have spoken much, but he sure was courageous. He was a fine ally to have, and you knew that even though you had barely known him for a day, he would likely risk his life for you. A loyal and brave ally dedicated to saving his own world. You're glad that Kami sent you to this planet. Not only did it give you the opportunity to grow stronger than ever before, but it has also allowed you to meet a whole bunch of incredible people. This planet was the home to some pretty amazing people.

"Alright, Flea. You go next." You ordered the annoyingly cute looking man, who simply shrugged before he jumped through the portal, disappearing from sight immediately and leaving you alone with only the gurus and your own group. "Khive, Magus. You ready for this?"

"Of course, Rettace!" Khive gave you a thumbs up, while Magus just grunted, though he was obviously prepared for whatever was on the other side of that portal.

"Then let's go!" You didn't want to waste any more time now anyway. For every second that you spent here, that was a second that Zeal could use to awaken Lavos and render your entire goal of stopping the terrible beast from destroying the world hopeless. The potential that you might've already managed to change the future to one where the apocalypse occurred in the distant past was quite the terrible one indeed.

You stepped through the portal with the rest of your group, and immediately you realized you had stepped into a dangerous situation. The three of you were standing on what looked to be some sort of elevated pillar rising out of a great shining white energy from below. Could... that be the energy of Lavos?

The pillar was connected to more pillars by rigid looking bridges and those led to doors that would lead you out of the room, but the presence of a man wearing a hood that completely covered his face gave you reason to believe that things might be about to get a little violent.

"Hey! You aren't supposed to be in here!" Lightning crackled around his hands as he started to prepare a spell!

egh, The lack of killing is beginning to grow irksome.

The strong I get, they provide a worthy challenge. But the weaklings who raise a hand against us and can make our lives difficult makes no sense.
>>
You don't have the time to waste in fighting this guy, and while you didn't want to pointlessly kill somebody so much weaker than you, you didn't want to risk the possibility that he had powerful magic that would be able to harm or hinder your efforts to stop Lavos!

So with that thought in mind, you generated a ball of Ki in your hand, the green energy natural to your body glowing brightly for a moment before you shaped it within your hand and launched the resulting flechettes towards the mage looking in your direction, aimed at his hands to prevent him from casting anything that might be able to be a nuisance to you.

Of course, the effect is obvious. You are many times more powerful than the mage, and he doesn't even get the chance to dodge away from your attack before the sharp spikes of Ki pierce his skin deeply. He screams in pain as the energy sinks into his flesh before exploding, and you follow up the brutal attack by quickly dashing behind him and taking him out with a single chop to the throat, sending him reeling into unconsciousness with very little effort on your part.

You watch unimpressed as the body of the spellcaster falls to the ground. You were really expecting more from the magic user than just that much, but you supposed that when you had already pitted yourself against both Magus as well as Dalton, a more average magic user of this planet wasn't going to be impressive at all. Had he not insisted on trying to flee from you, you can't help but imagine that Dalton would've been capable of putting up a far better fight against you. Hell, he might've even been able to defeat you if he actually used half of the terrifyingly powerful looking spells he had access to wisely. But it was quite clear that Dalton had never really had to struggle against an opponent close to his own level, and as a result of that, he grew lazy and complacent, not knowing at all how to deal with a genuine threat and instead choking and fleeing like a fool.

"Was that really called for? You could've just killed him, you know." Magus crossed his arms, seemingly unimpressed with your decision to cripple the man, but you just shrugged.

"I dislike killing the weak, but I know for a fact that this civilization is one that has access to the sort of medical treatments that would allow for even a wound as terrible as the one I dealt that man to be fully recovered from." You weren't going to mess around anymore. You were on a time limit here.
>>
"Well, letting him scream... it may have been a mistake." Magus pointed to one of the doors leading into the room and you immediately noticed the sheer quantity of beasts about to flood into the room. "You've brought us company." A quick scan of the beasts revealed that each only had a power level of 10,000. There were at least a few dozen of them, and all you could think of is what excellent training that these monsters would be.

The lumbering monsters crawling their way into the room were of no real threat to you, if you had fought against them when you had first awoken from your pod, then you would've had no choice but to flee from them, but your strength had increased a great deal since your awakening. Now these enemies that would've previously caused you to flee without even thinking about it were nothing more than training for you.

You looked at the monsters as they filtered into the room with disinterest. They were purple skinned four legged beasts with sharp claws. Likely genetically modified... or perhaps magically modified. "It's not a problem, Magus. These beasts pose no threat to any of us here." If anything this was just an opportunity to test out the effectiveness of your Ki Mine field on a large group of enemies that you had no qualms about killing. It's hardly like these beasts were capable of any serious level of thought other than maybe how they wanted to kill the three of you.

"I suppose you might be right. I'm certainly not troubled by foes of their caliber, at least." Magus shrugged as he conceded the point to you, while at that very same moment you were charging your attack. Both of your hands began to glow green with your energy before you lobbed dozens of energy balls into the distance between you and the encroaching horde of beasts. Actually aiming to avoid hitting any of them directly as you did. Soon enough, there were forty of the charged balls of your Ki floating listlessly in the center of the room, and at this point the horde of enemies had only just managed to reach the halfway point. They certainly weren't hurrying.

"Uhm... Rettace? I can deal with these things, but... shouldn't you let your attack go off now?" The girl was clearly concerned with the idea that you'd allow yourself to be distracted and allow your attack to be for nothing, but that was simply an impossibility. For you, precise timing and ensuring that your attacks would be as effective as they could possibly be was crucial.

"Oh? Your timing is all wrong, Khive. I was simply ensuring that as many of those foul creatures as possible would've been caught up in the blast radius." You give her a toothy grin as you turn around to look at her, taking your eyes off the approaching enemies without a single care. "And as a matter of fact, the amount of creatures caught up in the radius of my attack is... well, all of them." You clench your fist as you casually speak to Khive and you feel the burst of heat from behind you before the sound of the explosion reaches your ears.

"I... guess I've still got a lot to learn about fighting... this is why you're the leader..." Khive sounded genuinely disappointed in herself for not knowing what you were plotting to do against the monsters, but you just placed a hand on one of her shoulders.
>>
"You shouldn't worry about it too much, Khive. We just have different fighting styles, so you not understanding what I was plotting to do is understandable. I appreciate that you'd keep an eye out for me in battle like that anyway. As comrades, it's our job to look out for each other, right?" You flashed her a happy smile, and she smiled back.

"R-right!" She nodded enthusiastically before you turned around to survey the damage of your minefield. The weren't many remaining pieces of the horde of monsters that you had just obliterated. The majority of the beasts had been completely evaporated by your attack, but there were a few pieces of evidence of their now terminated existences lying around the room on the pillars. Carbonized organs, pieces of charred skeletons, that sort of stuff. The difference in power between you and the creatures was so great that you didn't even have to really try in order to inflict such destruction upon them.

"Now, let's get moving, we need to..."

"We need to find Queen Zeal. I have faith in everyone else in being able to make their way to her in order to support us, we don't have the time to look for them though." Well, you couldn't entirely be certain that Crono would be able to find the queen in time, but Flea shouldn't have any problems with reuniting with your group thanks to his magic.

"Agreed. Stopping Zeal is the most important part of all of this. We can't let her awaken Lavos completely otherwise we won't be able to do anything. We must destroy Lavos while it remains dormant from its millions of years of slumber, otherwise none of us will even stand a chance." Magus's certainty that none of you could pose a threat to Lavos was concerning, but that was exactly the reason that you needed to hurry.

"Right, well. I'll use my scouter to locate her, it shouldn't take l-" You were about to press the button on the device to try to determine Zeal's position, but Magus grabbed your arm to prevent you from activating your scouter. You looked at him in surprise and he shook his head.

"There's no time. I'm familiar with the layout of this place, so I'll take the lead. While your device might be able to locate Queen Zeal, it might also provide a false positive and cause us to head in the wrong direction entirely." You suppose that he wasn't wrong, even though you had faith in the device, especially after Lucca's upgrades, it wasn't infallible. It was slightly more accurate than simply using your physical ability to sense Ki, but that was something that you'd be able to work on after you had dealt with the situation on this planet. While you had grown in strength by a great deal because of your experiences here already, there was always the opportunity to grow more powerful through training. Through the continued confrontation against powerful enemies, you and your squad had become more powerful than any Saiyans in the recorded history of your race.
>>
You followed Magus through the halls of the Ocean Palace as the three of you raced towards the Throne Room. You occupied your mind with thoughts of how powerful you had become, with only myths and legends like the Legendary Super Saiyan or the Super Saiyan God that spoke of the ancient powers of the Saiyan Race giving you reason to believe that there had been stronger Saiyans than you before your time. Of course, you didn't really know if you could count on those tales having even an ounce of truth to them, you weren't a fanatic who believed that the only way to gain power would be relying on some ancient transformation or some ridiculous notion. You were a Saiyan. Your race had developed to be some of the greatest warriors in the entire universe. You got more powerful simply from fighting more powerful opponents than yourself! The only reason that the Saiyans hadn't attained power levels of the range you were currently at was because they were simply too prepared to die in combat even if escape was a possibility. The self-destructive impulse of a Saiyan to wish to die in battle was probably one of the only things that had prevented them from growing powerful enough to establish a galactic empire of their own.

You continued following Magus through the halls of the Ocean Palace, dispatching various monsters that got in your way with very little difficulty. You, Khive and Magus together were simply too strong for any of the monsters that roamed the halls of the Ocean Palace to touch, you didn't even need to expend any energy in killing off the creatures as they appeared. One punch was enough for most of the enemies that revealed themselves to you.
>>
The halls of the Ocean Palace were long and many, but Magus seemed to have a pretty comprehensive grasp on the layout of the underwater stronghold, guiding you and Khive through the many halls with no difficulty whatsoever. After a few minutes of rapid movement and progress, you came up to a colossal pitch black door with an odd symbol emblazoned upon it. "Here it is. The door to the throne room." Magus attempted to force open the doors with a burst of magical wind through an incantationless spell, but it didn't budge. "Figures. Looks like Zeal decided to lock the door... and it looks like she's attuned it only the energy of herself and the princess." Magus turned to look at you. "We can try to see if your own magical power can simulate the energy that is required to open this door, it worked on the amulet, so..." Magus stopped, as if in deep thought. "I will warn you though, when we go through that door, I don't know what will happen. As much as I hate to admit it, we might want to wait for the others to catch up with us before we do this... but that may just give Zeal the time she needs to have completed the resurrection of Lavos." Magus seemed to be having difficulty coming to a decision over what should be done.

"Wait. Before we go ahead and enter. We should wait for the others to catch up. I know there's a risk that Lavos will be awoken, but... it's a risk we'll have to take. There's no point in rushing ahead to try to stop Zeal if together we can't defeat her, is there?" You decided against storming in without everyone else to support you. "Well, we should wait for them so long as they aren't too far away." You decided to correct yourself, you couldn't wait for too long for them to arrive. Otherwise you really would lose any hope that you might have of preventing Queen Zeal from resurrecting Lavos! "Give me a second, Khive, try and see if you can sense their energy while I do the same." You were of course going to use your scouter as well. You weren't in too much of a hurry that you couldn't just use both.

You pressed the button on the side of your scouter, immediately you got a read-out on the area around you, but curiously, nothing within the Throne Room itself. Could there be some sort of barrier blocking you from sensing the energy from within? It seemed to have applied to both your scouter as well as your natural ability to sense Ki too. You were getting kind of annoyed with how magic wielders were capable of creating these shields that could block the transmission of any sort of energy signature, but you suppose it was to be expected. This Throne Room was likely Queen Zeal's ultimate creation. The place in which she would summon Lavos and destroy the world... or at least ensure that it would be doomed in the future.

Upon pressing the scouter, there was a pretty tremendous amount of energy signatures dotting the underwater palace, and it took you some time to scan through each of them, even when you were using your natural ability to sense energy in conjunction with your scouter, you considered whether it might be worth trying to attune the scouter to only higher power levels, but that wouldn't be much help either. There were actually a few monsters prowling the Ocean Palace with powers that could rival you or Magus' own strength! No, the only way you'd be able to find your allies was to determine them by their exact strengths and whether they were headed towards you or not... though you worried that Crono's group would be unable to find you, it seemed that there was a group of three with power levels that matched up with what you remember them having headed straight for you! Assuming that was them for a moment, you turned to look for Flea instead, it would be harder for you to pick out Flea among the many monsters of the Ocean Palace, but you managed to get an exact read on the power level of something fast approaching you as well!
>>
Of course! Flea had his searching magic! Of course he'd be able to detect where you had gone and make his way to you! "Alright, they should be here in a few minutes. Both Flea and Crono's group seem to have managed to get a read on our current location." You didn't mind waiting if they were going to arrive soon. The Ocean Palace, while large, wasn't exactly a challenge to get through for people who were as powerful and fast as you and the allies you had made. Even the monsters that were serving as guardians could simply be avoided if they didn't want to bother fighting such enemies and wanted to focus on getting back to you.

"Good." Magus crossed his arms and tapped his foot impatiently as you all waited in silence for the rest of your allies to show up. It was an agonizing wait, and the tension was so thick that nobody really felt like making conversation either. Khive looked like she wanted to ask a question or two, but she didn't seem to be able to muster the courage to ask in such a tense situation, so whatever she wanted to say would need to be addressed later on.

Eventually, both Flea and Crono's group arrived at almost the exact same time, with Flea zipping through the corridors, still in the form of a bat before he took on his usual form upon spotting you. "That was a pain." He frowned. "Some of the people in this place are just way too suspicious for no reason. Honestly!" He stomped his foot in irritation. "I appeared as one of those soldiers and they still wanted me to confirm who I actually was! So annoying!" Well, you suppose that explains the brief delay. "Luckily, they weren't expecting some good old fashioned sleeping magic!" Flea put the back of his hand up to his mouth before daintily laughing. It unnerved you.

With Flea back with you, you turned to face the rapidly approaching group of three. Crono had taken the lead and Lucca was... wearing a scouter that looked eerily similar to your own. Had she made a copy from scratch?! Once again, the genius of the girl astounded you, but you couldn't allow that to distract you. "It's good that you're all here. This may very well be the last battle to save the world, so prepare yourselves. Be ready for anything, and do not let your guard down under any circumstances." They were simple orders, but before you approached the door, you decided that it would be best to go in with a plan.

>>What plan will Rettace use?
>You, Khive and Magus together will focus on dealing with Zeal. Everyone else focuses on preventing the resurrection of Lavos.
>You'll use haste on yourself to grab Schala and her brother and then you'll use a Supercharged Mirror Wave to destroy the entire room. Then you'll go after Zeal together.

"OK, everyone, here's the plan. I'm going to use Haste on myself before we open the door, then I'll go in and grab Schala and her brother before Zeal can stop me before I use a Ki attack to destroy the room and hopefully prevent Lavos' resurrection." It was a spur of the moment plan, but you needed to emphasize your speed here so you could save Schala from Zeal. The girl might've had powerful magic, but her physical abilities left a great deal to be desired. She wouldn't have a hope of surviving if you opened by simply trying to destroy the room.

"I have no opposition to such a plan. But be prepared. The Mammon Machine itself has been granted the greatest defensive countermeasures that Zeal can install onto something, including enchanted metal armor that will likely be able to shrug even an attack with our full powers off. Just... don't be caught off of your guard." Magus informed you that things weren't going to be as easy as you had hoped, but you had expected as much.

"Understood, Magus." You nodded as you approached the door while you formed four balls of magic energy that orbited around you. "The currents of time shall flow faster for me. Haste!" You activated Haste with a quick incantation as you approached the door and one of the balls of energy disappeared. You felt the world around you slow by half. You had been given the ability to use the Haste spell for only a short time, and yet already you felt as if it had rapidly become one of your greatest techniques. Not only did it double your actual physical ability to move your body, but it also acted as a complete enhancement to every aspect of your fighting style. You could move twice as fast as before. You could think twice as fast as before. You could hit twice as fast and twice as much as before. Doubling not only the number of strikes you'd otherwise land, but also the amount of force that they would be striking with.

With the second ball of your magic energy, you commanded it to fly into the door sealing the Throne Room, and it was absorbed into the shiny black surface of the strange magical material that was blocking your path. A few seconds after your magic collided with the door, strange patterns began to light up upon the door and it eventually started to open, the huge door sliding smoothly into the floor and leaving you free to enter the large room in front of you. You couldn't waste a single moment of time. As soon as the door had finished opening, you rushed forwards, barreling into the room at max speed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5SWRUhgcN8

Under the effects of haste, it was simply more effective for you to use your ability to sense energy than it was for you to use the scouter, immediately, you felt Zeal, Schala and her brother's energy, and... in that moment you felt something odd. While you couldn't normally determine qualities of Ki simply by sensing all too well at all, there was something that was very familiar about Schala's brother.
>>
You kept running as you burst into the room, you saw Zeal was clearly surprised at your entrance, but you didn't care. You grabbed Schala and her brother by the collars of their robes and started to make your way out of the room with great speed. Though you had to slow yourself somewhat to ensure that neither of the two would be hurt by the force of the sudden flight, you were still fast enough to escape without Zeal even managing to respond!

...Or so you thought.

"Not so fast." Zeal spoke with a smile on her face as two golden chains of energy suddenly materialized around your feet, causing you to let go of the two people you were rescuing and making them hurtle forwards in an uncontrolled motion through the door with enough speed that they'd surely die if they weren't stopped.

Fortunately, Magus was fast to act, catching the two of them by dashing forwards before setting them down and drawing his scythe. "What the hell do you think you're doing, Zeal?! You could have killed Schala and Janus! You could've killed your own children!" He pointed an accusatory finger at the woman, who just shrugged.

"What do I think I'm doing? Dealing with pests, clearly. I have no need for either my failure of a son nor my now unnecessary daughter. They'd likely just try to get in the way of my plans for this world. I'm not foolish enough to not have realized that Schala was already plotting against me." The queen laughed as she reclined on her throne, clearly not taking any of this seriously. "I'm afraid that you're much too late. anyway." She gloated as Magus used his scythe to slash through the magical chains that were wrapped around your legs.

"You really are a foolish woman, driven mad by her lust for power." He pointed his blade at the woman as you got into a combat stance, ignoring the Mammon Machine in the center of the room to focus on the woman sitting on her throne behind it. "Prepare to die. Queen Zeal. May your insane legacy be put to a stop today."

"You seem quite confident in your abilities after you were humiliated the last time you raised that ridiculous weapon against me, False Prophet." The woman began to laugh manically. "But I do not see the need to do battle with such a hopeless fool once again. Mammon Machine!" She called out to the machine in the center of the room. "Convert these fools into power for Lavos!" She commanded the machine, and a pulse of energy caused you to stumble backwards. It was... sapping your power?!

"No you don't!" Crono ran into the room and threw the red knife he had been given possession of directly into the center of the Mammon Machine, the blade started to glow brightly with power as it put a stop to the energy draining effect of the machine. Two glowing blue lights started to orbit around the knife, which eventually metamorphosed into a longer looking sword... Wait, that's... the Grandleon! Frog's sword?!
>>
"You fool! Do you have any idea what you've just done?!" Zeal didn't seem to be happy at the sudden damage to the Mammon Machine, so you decided to capitalize on her surprise.

"He's not done any more than I'm about to do! Prepare to be obliterated along with your idiotic machine, Zeal!" You spoke slowly so that the rest of the room could understand you before you allowed the full power of Haste to infuse you once more, and you rapidly formed two balls of energy in your hands before you thrust your arms out. "Reflecting Mirror Wave!" You called the name of the attack as the two beams shot forth. Coiling around one another for a moment before splitting off and smashing into the malfunctioning Mammon Machine with a great explosion of power. So much for the greatest defensive countermeasures, huh?

The smoke eventually cleared, and the Mammon Machine had been destroyed. Between the knife disrupting the systems and your raw power crashing into it, it was too much for the power draining device to take. You looked at the smoldering wreck of the Mammon Machine with a frown on your face. "Was... that it? I gotta admit, after everything that we were told about the Mammon Machine, I was expecting... well, a little more of a fight." You scratched your head as Khive, Flea, Ayla and Lucca all caught up and faced off against Zeal along with you, Crono and Magus.

"A little more of a fight...?" Zeal had a smile on her face, unconcerned with the destruction of the machine she was using to harvest Lavos' energy. "Oh, I can assure you that you'll get the fight you were looking for. You all may have wrongly assumed that I required the Mammon Machine to actually use the energy of Lavos, but..." Her smile grew ever wider. "Lavos and I... we came to an understanding. Do you understand? I would assist Lavos in awakening and conquering the stars, and... in return, he would grant me eternal life and power beyond the wildest dreams of foolish mortals like you!" The room began to shake and warp, and you stumbled as you felt a tremendous power approaching once again. "Now! Behold the might of Lavos!"
>>
"What?! How?! The past... I thought that we had managed to change it!" Magus looked around as the throne room vanished and you all found yourselves standing on a formless pool of ever changing energy. In front of you was a truly colossal scaled beaked creature that radiated a terrifying amount of power. This... was Lavos?!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dfb_n7wjb5k

The creature screeched, the terrible power of the monstrous beast immediately brought all seven of you to your knees. It was as if gravity itself had begun to crush you. Queen Zeal was standing atop the beaked head of the monster, laughing. The Scouter was blaring all sorts of warnings as the power level it was reading from Lavos kept increasing continuously. When it went beyond a million you stopped focusing on the number.

Looks like this is it. You're going to have to use the Power Ball. You certainly didn't expect that you'd ever be faced with a foe with power as overwhelming as Lavos' was when you designed the technique, but that doesn't matter now. The point was that you could use it to access the full power of a Saiyan, and that's exactly what you were going to do now.

You struggled to stand as the unbearable pressure of Lavos' power pushed down on you. "Zeal... you think... that Lavos... is the only being in this universe with power as overwhelming as that...?" You grit your teeth as you forced the words out, and the woman stopped for a moment to stare at you in surprise.

"Oho? And what, are you telling me that you're aware of beings of greater power than the Almighty Lavos?" She laughed with glee as she stared at you.

You began to gather the energy from the surroundings into your palm as well as your own energy in order to activate the technique. "Not... exactly." You cracked a smile as you felt the energy within your palm finish gathering. "I'm telling you... that I am such a being!" You launched the ball of energy into the sky. "Burst into light and mix!" The ball of energy exploded into a pure white orb that immediately began to radiate power. "Everyone! Get as far as possible as you can away from me and Khive! Now!" You could already feel the Blutz Waves beginning to enter your body and activate the biological processes that caused a Saiyan to enter the Oozaru state, and while you could control yourself in the state, the same was not currently true of Khive. "Now!" They started to back off now. Good.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lm77VCkf_do

"What a pointless attack. Is that pathetic ball of energy supposed to be a threat to Lavos? Such a shame, it seems that you've gone mad with fear." Zeal didn't seem to be bothered by the Power Ball, her attention was too focused on your attack to realize what you and Khive's bodies were doing. "Overwhelming power indeed." She laughed. "Now, Lavo-" She looked down from your attack and back to you and took a step back in surprise at your partial transformation. "W-what's this!?" She was clearly surprised by your transformation. She hadn't been expecting this at all, it seems.
>>
You grew huge as your transformation finished, and though you were still quite a bit smaller than Lavos itself, the difference was nowhere near as monumental as it was before. Khive had also finished her own transformation too, though she was nowhere near as calm as you were as you looked down at the queen, though she hadn't yet gone berserk either. Her natural instincts had seemingly managed to keep her in a non-attacking state as she looked at her fellow Oozaru. "A pointless attack, was it?" You spoke down to Queen Zeal now, who was forced to look up at you, even from her perch atop Lavos. "Behold, the true power of the Saiyan race!" You opened your mouth and let loose a gigantic energy beam down at Zeal and Lavos, the woman quickly had to raise her hands in order to conjure a magical shield to protect herself, a magical barrier with a dozen layers quickly intercepted your attack.

But layer after layer of the barrier was shattered as the beam clashed against it. Each layer only lasting for a few seconds before shattering. "Impossible! Lavos! Aid me!" The woman pleaded with the beast she was standing upon for assistance, and in that moment, you felt the crushing power of Lavos once again, but this time it was in the form of a great deal of energy gathering inside the bizarre beak of the monster, which looked up in order to fire the attack. You somehow knew that allowing yourself to be hit by that beam would quickly prove to be fatal even in the form of an Oozaru. You shouldn't have been able to get out of the way of the attack in time, but...

"Teleport!" You cut off the beam attack you were trying to hit Zeal with in order to speak so you could use your magic to avoid the attack, which carried on into the featureless pulsating void of energy. You teleported right next to Khive, who had just started to begin her rampage as her eyes settled on Lavos, and she began to charge up her own mouth cannon attack. You realized that you had forgotten to take your scouter off again and it had fallen off, but... you didn't exactly have the time to consider the device. You could always grab it later. Your Haste spell had worn off now, but you still had the spare energy left to use one more spell.

Lavos screeched again as it looked up at you and Khive. Despite the size of the monstrous beast, it didn't quite stand as tall as you or Khive did, and its head was close down to the floor. It was clear the beak of the beast was a weak point. The chitinous looking shell of Lavos looked as if it would be able to easily withstand even your greatest attacks with ease. But... Zeal was also still a problem...

>Use your teleport in order to surprise stomp Zeal and get her out of the way.

Archive reader here, just wanted to post because I came up with a twist.
What if Rettace father was a Truffle? He never knew his father, his mother refused to speak about him, he is smarter than the average sayan, his first instict was to adopt a truffle name as a alias, he looks up to the truffle's tech and ways of life, and his strength could be because of being a half-sayan.
I needed to get this out of my head, I will go back to lurking now
>>
>>5003560
Eh, he isn't really Tuffle smart, his smartness was something we came up with at the start and his likeness with tuffles seems out of nurture, not nature. And he isn't that much stronger than his teammates.
Tho I do think he might be the Legendary Super Saiyan of his generation, since there's a lot of emphasis in his ki being green.
>>
>>5003565
Of course he wouldn’t be tuffle smart if he was only half tuffle
And smart is a matter of education
He has cunning in spades, but saiyans don’t get educated in anything other than combat, so it could be that his genius is focused on that as a result

Or maybe he’s just the rare smart saiyan that doesn’t go full retard
>>
>>5003581
It'd be a little bullshit if being Half-Saiyan makes you stronger than Full Saiyan but being Half-Tuffle makes you dumber than Full Tuffle, but I guess it doesn't matter.
>>
>>5003607
He may be just as smart, but uneducated, like anon said.
>>
>>5003177
>Use your teleport in order to surprise stomp Zeal and get her out of the way.

Take out Zeal we don't want Lavos absorbing her and going all Dream Devourer on us
>>
>>5003581
I disagree with smart being a matter of education, but I get what you mean.
It'd be a neat twist though

With your Oozaru form, you felt as if you actually had a shot at winning this battle. Though Lavos was still far more powerful than you were in raw power, it was clear that the monster had no real knowledge of how to best apply the power that it had access to. Despite being some terrible planet devouring abomination and some sort of God of Magic, Lavos... really didn't appear to be that intelligent. Especially not when it came to wielding the power that it had at its disposal. That was the difference between you and this creature that was born with an overwhelming power. Even if you were born stronger than the other people at your age. It was always through hard work and perseverance that you managed to maintain your lead on every other Saiyan. You had earned your power. You had earned your right to be called the most powerful Saiyan of your generation, and you were going to use the skills you had learned in order to wield your power to the best of your abilities here. You'd use every trick you had at your disposal to win, and that included...

You looked at the Queen, who was clearly still recovering from nearly having her shields overwhelmed by your beam attack. It seemed that despite her powerful magic, she still had no real way of overcoming somebody who was far stronger than she was. But... she was still incredibly dangerous. You didn't want to take any chances with this woman and her magic, so you wouldn't. You weren't the only one who had access to magic, after all, and a truly devilish thought had formed in your mind. You raised your foot in the air for a moment while you savagely grinned at Lavos and Zeal, both of whom seemed to be in the process of preparing their next attacks. Little did either of these idiots realize that in a real fight, you always had to be on the look-out for sudden death!

You brought your foot down as hard as you could and spoke at the same time. "Teleport!" You roared the spell and you could feel the last of the magic energy you had prepared get used up simply as a result of having to carry your massively increased mass and size through space instantly. The Queen never saw the attack coming, and you could hear the sound of shattering as your foot collided with her personal barrier and obliterated it, leaving the woman herself smashed against the head of Lavos. You did lose quite a bit of your momentum when you had to smash through her barrier, but you knew that you put enough force into the attack that she wouldn't be getting up any time soon. If ever again. You know that you heard more than just her barrier shattering as a result of your attack. You'd be surprised if she managed to get out of the attack without at least a few of her bones having been reduced to basically powder.
>>
Annoyingly, the stomp, while super effective on Zeal herself, didn't actually do much damage if any to Lavos itself. The beast was now angrily screeching at the defeat of Zeal. You wanted to finish her off by smashing her unconscious body, but Lavos had been properly spurred into action now, and the spikes of its body moved about as they attempted to stab into you, and before you could crush Zeal for good, she had been completely surrounded by a cocoon of those spikes.

With another screech, you saw the void of shifting energy above you start to glow red with power. Before you realized just why it had done so. Dozens if not hundreds of large meteorites were speeding towards you and Khive. Destruction was raining from the heavens. Khive had taken to uselessly pounding on Lavos' tough shell with her fists, the body of the creature was seemingly indestructible, even to the raw physical power that was possessed by a Saiyan in the Oozaru state. You needed to deal with the meteorites before anything else. If they were allowed to impact the ground, then it wouldn't just be you and Khive in danger, but the resulting explosion caused by the release of energy from the celestial objects would surely endanger everyone else too.

>Try to make an energy barrier using the massive Ki Reserves of the Oozaru.

You look to the sky and at the tremendous amount of meteorites falling from the heavens, and you realize that you don't have much time. You need to act now if you're going to survive this attack. This wasn't something that even the incredible durability of the Oozaru was able to protect against. This was the sort of attack that could destroy an entire planet and then some! Had Lavos started to truly throw its weight around as a result of the bizarre realm you had found yourself in to fight Lavos. Of course, the planet being destroyed wasn't one of your concerns right now. What was of greater importance to you was actually surviving the attack in the first place. Lavos was clearly confident enough in the durability of its shell to protect itself from the storm of meteors it had summoned.

You roared as you gathered a great deal of energy and started to launch large balls of Ki into the air, each ten times the size of the normal Ki Mine as a result of the increased size and power of the Oozaru state, and before long you had three dozen of the large balls of Ki scattered about in the air. Lavos thankfully seemed to be too focused on directing the meteors to follow up with another attack, whatever power it had exerted upon this place in order to summon the attack in the first place was keeping it too busy to punish you for attempting to intercept the attack with one of your own.

The dozens of Ki balls frozen within the sky formed a mighty barrier between you and the meteorites, and you smirked wildly as the first of the meteorites made contact with the ki mines, and the devastation in the sky was immense, the shockwave nearly blew you off your feet as all the energy contained within both the meteorites and the Ki mines was released all at once, you knew for a fact that the shockwave of the released energy had definitely blown Crono and the others away without a question. Even though the actual explosion itself was far away, it was colossal enough that you knew just from looking at it that had you not attempted to block the meteorites with a minefield, you would've taken immense damage.

Eventually, the cloud of dust that had formed from the obliteration of the meteorites cleared, and you nearly choked as you looked upwards to see yet more meteorites falling through the clearing cloud of dust. "What!? But...! That's not possible!" You didn't have time to set up another minefield to block the follow-up attack, and it was all that you could do to put your arms up in an attempt to shield yourself from the explosive impact of the cataclysmic destruction that Lavos had unleashed upon you. The meteorites detonated with a cosmic amount of energy upon striking your body, and you grit your teeth to prevent yourself from screaming as you felt your fur burning and your flesh searing from the power of the strikes.
>>
But fortunately, the attack didn't go on forever, and the power of an Oozaru was far too great to be done in by something like that. While you had been badly damaged, you managed to protect your tail from the meteorites impact, as had Khive, who had managed to spare herself the brunt of the attack simply by being atop Lavos itself when the meteorites impacted. While Lavos was clearly confident in the durability of its shell, it obviously wasn't going to drop meteorites on itself to rid itself of the ape that was climbing on it. Not when the total sum of all the damage that Khive had actually managed to do to Lavos was a number infinitely close to zero, at least.

You stood tall as you looked at the monstrous opponent you faced. It was quite clear that it overpowered you even now, but... you didn't have a choice in the matter. You'd revealed your trump card in the form of the Oozaru state, and it wasn't like you really had a way to flee from Lavos anyway. Not unless everyone else uncovered a time rift that was large enough for two Oozaru to fit through, at least.

You could feel your adrenaline pumping, your heart was racing. Despite the damage that Lavos' attack had done to you, and despite the fact that for a moment, you felt as if you might've died, you couldn't have felt more alive. This was a foe that should be beyond you, yet at the same time, you don't feel as if you've been beaten just yet.

This is it. This is your last shot at doing well... anything. You knew that Lavos as an adversary was beyond you. You wouldn't be able to defeat Lavos with just the power of the Oozaru. That was clear enough. Even if you targeted the obvious weak-point of the monstrous creature, there was no way to tell that you even had enough power to take Lavos out if you got a direct hit with all your power formed into one mighty beam. Even with your scouter currently unusable thanks to your colossal size, you could sense Lavos' power well enough in your current state, and you knew that the monster was still at least four times more powerful than you were. That... that even the power of the Oozaru was not enough to overcome this monstrosity... the power of Lavos was unreal!

But you had one last trick up your sleeve. A power that you had only just learned, but one that had already proven to be incredibly powerful in its own right. That is... the power of magic. In some ways, relying on such a strange power didn't feel right for a Saiyan, as it didn't really feel as if the power was coming entirely from you, and instead called upon some abstract concept of the universe itself. Lavos... may have brought magic to this world, but you highly doubted that the creature was the originator of the power itself. It was worshiped as a god by the people of this era for bringing them magic, but... would a god really be something that could be fought against with power that it apparently created? You... weren't sure.

You could feel the energy of the Oozaru coursing through your body as you faced off against Lavos, and you started to convert every single remaining piece of your body's energy into Ki and then into magic, leaving you with just enough life-force that you wouldn't end up dying after this last resort... but then again, if it didn't work you were as good as dead anyway. It came to your immediate notice that you had severely underestimated just how powerful Lavos truly was, and the same was likely true of Magus as well. For all his plotting and scheming to defeat the extraterrestrial being, you highly doubt that he would've been able to match against Lavos even if all of his plans went off without a hitch. Even his scheme to bind Lavos likely would've failed if the beast had been summoned in his castle. Lavos was simply that strong.
>>
You raised your fist to the sky and allowed the energy of your body to explode outwards before you drew it back in and converted it to magic energy. Specifically imbuing every single bit of the magic energy that you had converted into the energy that ran through your own body. The energy of space and time condensed entirely into your fist. Your eyes locked onto Lavos' head and you roared with all of your might as you raced towards the beast one last time. It was all or nothing now, if this didn't work, then you'd surely die. You... didn't actually know what would happen as a result of hitting Lavos with the attack regardless, but you were hoping that the massive amount of space-time energy would be enough to at least deal some major damage to Lavos, if not kill it entirely.

"Die!" Space and time shifted around your fist as you slammed it into the large beak-like head of Lavos, and the creature shrieked in agony as the energy in your punch was transferred into a destructive energy that tore into the fabric of space itself. The already unstable dimension that Lavos had created to do battle in was being shredded as a result of the release of your magical energy coming into contact with a beast that was in many ways composed of that same magic energy. While Lavos may or may not have been the force that magic originated from, there was no denying that it was absolutely suffused in magic energy, to the point where an entire civilization could use just the excess magical energy emitted by Lavos as a power source for eternity.

You were witnessing something quite wondrous as you watched the unaligned energy that was infused into Lavos' being collide with your own magical energy, not fashioned into an attack and simply brought forth in a chaotic state of energy, the space-time aligned energy was perpetuating itself with Lavos' own power, your own magical energy had been enough to start a terrifying chain reaction that would surely destroy you all if you were to remain. Lavos shrieked again as you backed away from it, and out of the corner of your eye you saw a crack in space open up through the Power Ball that was still supplying you with the Blutz Waves you needed to maintain the Oozaru state.
>>
You yelled in horror as you felt the warm glow of the Blutz Waves vanish, you looked around, trying to ascertain the current locations of your allies, you had lost track of everything when you struck Lavos, and you didn't even see what happened to Khive. You gasped as you saw that she had somehow already returned to human form, and that the rest of your allies were surrounding her, a barrier that was being maintained by Magus was protecting them from the temporal chaos that you had accidentally brought forth, and you rushed towards them while you still had the form of an Oozaru. Even now you could feel your body getting weaker and smaller as the transformation was reverted, and it was all that you could do to avoid the chaotic energy and rifts in space that were opening up all around you as you raced towards your allies once more. Somehow, Lavos felt like it wasn't really the big problem right now. You could see that even the creature was startled by the effect that you had managed to bring about. A completely unexpected and impossibly destructive reaction.

By the time you had finally reached your allies again, you had returned back to your normal state, a little battered up and worse for wear, but you weren't hurt that badly. You'd expended all of your energy in causing this disaster.

The shield being held up by Magus opened for a split second to allow you access, and you looked to see everyone clearly worried about what was happening. Crono had a determined look in his eyes as he glared at Lavos from inside the force barrier, Both Ayla and Flea just looked perplexed by everything, Lucca looked intrigued by the effect of your magic and Magus himself had his eyes locked on the princess, who was seemingly healing the injured Khive. Your heart nearly leapt out of your throat when you saw why she had returned to her base form before the Power Ball was destroyed. About two thirds of her tail had been cut off, she must've lost it to warps and cracks in space that the reaction of your magic caused.
>>
"Everyone." Schala stood up as she addressed everyone, before she sighed. "If this disaster is allowed to escape from this dimension, then it will unleash a horror even greater than the Lavos we currently see onto this world." She looked at Lavos before she shook her head and looked directly at you. "When you unleashed your energy upon Lavos... Lavos' body managed to somewhat adapt to the pressures being placed upon it, the undiluted pure Time-Space magic that you attempted to destroy Lavos with then mixed with the energy of the monster itself, and while it is currently still being harmed by the power that it cannot control... I fear that if Lavos manages to gain a mastery over this power, then it will make the creature it was before look like a joke." She clenched her fists. "I can't allow that to happen." She suddenly stepped out of the portal as if it wasn't even there, and both Janus and Magus reacted in the same way as they looked at the blue haired girl leaving, both reaching out a hand to try to stop her.

""Schala, wait!"" The two called out, but the girl kept walking, intent on facing off against the monster. Curiously, when the chaotic energy struck her, she was completely unfazed, and the rifts in space seemed to dissolve before even reaching her whenever they got close.

"Not again!" Magus sprinted forwards outside of his own barrier, but before he could reach Schala, an invisible force pushed him back and he was sent straight back into the protective field. As you watched Schala start to conjure a spell, a larger rift opened up right in front of you, somehow having pierced through the portal itself, and out strode the three Gurus, the three old men were clearly horrified by the current situation, and Balthazar spoke first.

"This... this is a disaster! If something isn't done about this, then the entire localized timestream of this planet will cease to be! All life that has ever existed on this world... it will simply not have happened!" Had... your attack against Lavos really been that bad? That it might somehow cause the unmaking of a planet's entire history?

"That's right. But... we three Gurus hold the power to rectify this situation, and...!" One of the other Gurus spoke up, you think he was called... Gaspar? He went silent when he noticed that Schala was standing directly in front of Lavos, and spoke coldly. "Oh. We are... too late to be of aid."

A pulse emanated from Schala, a pulse of dark blue energy that seemed to consume everything it touched. Spreading too quickly for you to even begin to dodge, you could only watch in horror as you were engulfed by the massively spreading dome of energy that had emanated from the girl, and the moment you touched the magic, you felt yourself being dragged through time once again.
>>
Your body was wracked with pain when you woke up, and you found yourself surrounded by... Flea, Magus, Lucca, Crono, Khive and Ayla. They had seemingly made the trip with you, but... Schala was nowhere to be seen, neither were Janus or the Gurus, for that matter. You groaned as you pushed yourself off the ground and looked around. You were at the End of Time once again, and you could see Marle, Robo and Frog waiting around the central platform. Everyone else was slowly coming to their senses, but it looks like you were the first one to recover.

You looked at your currently recovering allies, and quickly came to a decision...

You stand there, looking upwards into the infinite expanse of the End of Time. An infinite void of nothingness spreads out before you. In this place at the end of all of time, nothing remains of any traces of the world, nor of the universe itself, except for this small section of land, nothing lies beyond the End of Time except... well, nothing. If this truly was the end of time itself, you imagined that going too far from the constructed portion of the End of Time would be... a terrible idea. Still, the vastness of this incredible space wasn't enough to dampen your spirits. While the battle you had could only be called a defeat, even with the surprising effects of your Space-Time Magic going haywire when exposed to the ambient pure magic that was exuded by Lavos, you still couldn't help but smile at the memory. The memory of a truly difficult fight, of an opponent that was still leagues more powerful than you were. While Spekkio's power was overwhelming to the point of frustration, you... oddly didn't get the same feeling from Lavos anymore.

Perhaps it was the enhanced strength of the Oozaru state that was still affecting your personality, but... You couldn't compare Lavos' power to Spekkio's power. Even though Spekkio had claimed that Lavos was more powerful than himself, you... didn't quite buy that. Whereas Spekkio defeated you with the greatest of ease, you actually felt as if you had a chance of victory when you entered the Oozaru state, and the massive increase in your reserves of energy allowed you to do some pretty incredible magic. The transformation into an Oozaru doesn't simply increase your strength, durability, size, speed and energy output, but also your energy reserves. By entering the Oozaru state, your capacity to use Magic is increased tenfold, which was probably one of the reasons you were capable of starting that uncontrolled magical reaction in the first place. Like a reaction that needs a certain amount of power to get going and then fuels itself on the surrounding energy sources. Not unlike a mighty blaze engulfing a forest, a single spark likely wouldn't start a tremendous blaze, but a burning stick could easily cause such an event.
>>
You had to stop yourself from roaring to the sky in satisfaction at the fight. You might be a Saiyan, but... you were in the company of people who really wouldn't appreciate your... enthusiasm. To them, this would only be counted as a crushing defeat that they barely survived. But... to you, it was something more. It was yet more definitive proof that you could grow more and more powerful. The idea of being able to control that storm of space warping energy and even weaponizing was something that truly appealed to you. No amount of durability would be able to protect somebody from an attack that didn't target them, but the space that they occupied. Even those seemingly indestructible scales of Lavos were being sundered by the rifts and warps caused by the ongoing reaction, and even though Lavos was a creature that you believed to be far too mighty to be defeated by your attack, it was a sign to you that the magic you found yourself able to use was truly your greatest weapon. Perhaps even greater than even your Ki. For as versatile and useful that Ki was, being able to do things like double your speed, teleport with but a word, and create space-time vortexes that could tear anything asunder was ridiculous. The most ridiculous part however, was that you had only just started to tap into the true extent of what you might be able to accomplish with magic. Perhaps with some more practice, you too would even be able to create portals in space and perhaps even time, as Schala was capable of doing.
>>
You stopped thinking about the dramatic battle against Lavos, and of the implications that your ever growing strength might have. It was actually kind of a miracle that you were still standing at all after what you pulled off. A testament to the incredible endurance of your race, you supposed. That you could remain standing after receiving damage that might've just killed a member of a less hardy species. But as a Saiyan, even after being beaten half to death, so long as you didn't take any truly fatal wounds, your body would be able to recover on its own given the time to heal. Saiyans really were a race that was suited for battle, being able to recover from practically any wound short of missing body parts and coming back stronger after the fact? It really was only thanks to the general war-like nature and infighting of the Saiyans that they had yet to conquer the galaxy. If Saiyans placed more importance on survival rather than just dying in battle, you'd have no doubt that the Saiyans would likely have a multi-system spanning empire by now, especially with the assistance of the Tuffles... though you somehow doubted that the Tuffles would accept the idea of a system spanning empire forged by the conquest of the weak... once again, the greatest weakness of the Saiyans seemed to be the lack of intelligence that the race had in general. The more of the universe that you saw and the more that you uncovered the seemingly limitless depths of the strength you could attain, the more you grew frustrated with Saiyan Society as it had been when you had left it... and indeed as it likely still was. Saiyans weren't exactly the sort of people who changed their ways very often... or ever, really.

You realized that it would probably be a good idea for you to actually get everyone healed. You were in a pretty bad way yourself, and everyone else was still out cold as a result of being dragged through the time portal that was created for you all to escape through. You grunted in pain as you forced yourself to move, walking the short distance to the center of the End of Time and being greeted by the worried faces of Marle and... well, you couldn't exactly tell what Frog or Robo were feeling based on their facial expressions alone. Frog's ability to emote was... heavily limited as a result of his physical appearance, and Robo was... well, a robot.

"Rettace! What happened? Why are you so... hurt? Where is everyone else?" Marle immediately moved to your side and started to use her healing magic on you, and you could rapidly feel your injuries starting to disappear as she did, allowing for you to actually converse with her.
>>
"Don't... worry about my injuries. Everyone else is... hurt worse." You stopped her from healing you any more than was enough for you to not be on the absolute verge of collapse. "We... tried to fight Lavos..." You beckoned for Marle to follow you back to everyone else, and she quickly did, working her healing magic on everyone while you explained what had happened. "We were forced into a confrontation with Queen Zeal, and... she successfully summoned Lavos. I managed to... hold Lavos off for a time, but its power was too great, and I ended up being forced into doing something stupid that we barely all escaped alive from. But... at least we all made it out alive." Seriously, it was a miracle that nobody ended up dying, though everyone had been hurt pretty bad, against a foe like Lavos, it was incredible that there had been no casualties.

"It is... worse than you believe, young Rettace." Suddenly, the old gentleman that usually appeared leaning against the lamppost appeared at the entrance to the portal room. "Your actions, while they saved the life of young Crono here, who would've instead sacrificed his life to ensure that you could get away, have... caused a great disturbance in the time-space continuum of this world." The old man sounded panicked, and you tilted your head. Out of the corner of your eye, you could see that Marle's magic was thankfully regenerating the lost portions of Khive's tail, and you were revealed.

"What... what does that mean?"

"It means that the temporal seal placed upon this planet is at risk of shattering. You see... This planet... was to serve as a prison for Lavos."

"What... what does that mean?"

"Eons ago, long before my time or your own,a powerful god intervened in Lavos' rampage across the cosmos, and exterminated all but one of the spawn of the being that would come to be known as Lavos. However, this God... was not one who could not bring themselves to commit genocide, even against a race as terrible and destructive as Lavos." A god? An actual god had something to do with this? Like Kami, or Spekkio?

"What are you talking about. How do you know all of this?" It was suspicious just how much that this man knew, in fact, you were incredibly curious about him.
>>
"When you have lived for both an eternity and for no time at all at the End of Time... things start to become more clear to you. From your perspective, I, Gaspar, the Guru of Time, disappeared just a few minutes ago, but... in truth I have been in this place for tens of millions of years... or so I think. I stopped keeping track after the first million years. It's not like it's possible to age in a realm without time... nor does time pass at all for the inhabitants of this place." Wait... he's Gaspar? But... you only just saw Gaspar! How could he have not been aware of what was about to happen? Shouldn't he have warned you? "Your actions... though they ended up saving Crono's life, have caused an even greater threat than Lavos would've ever naturally become in this timeline."

"What... what happened?!" You were starting to get sick of the old man's cryptic bullshit, but Gaspar simply shook his head.

"When you created those rifts in space-time, they undoubtedly did a great deal of damage to Lavos, and had you better control over your abilities, you would've been able to capitalize on the opportunity and deal a killing blow to Lavos once and for all, without needing to destroy the core of the beast." Gaspar turned away to look out among the bleak void of the End of Time. "However, thanks to your actions, Lavos has been... defeated. Erased from this world."

"Wait... then... doesn't that mean we won? Lavos is defeated?"

"No. Lavos might be defeated, but... thanks to the actions you took to defeat him, a greater threat has emerged. The partial awakening of Lavos in the past destroyed the floating Kingdom of Zeal as it was supposed to, and the flow of time itself should be safe, but... at the same time... time ceases to exist after the year 1999. After the Day of Lavos."

"What?!" That didn't make sense. You knew that Lavos was supposed to wake up on that day, but... there was supposedly an apocalyptic future still! There must be! You looked upon it! Not just that, but... that was where your ship was meant to have crashlanded! How could you leave this planet if your ship hadn't simply been destroyed, but instead utterly erased from existence?!

"Upon seeing the pure destructive power of your... Space-Time Magic, and then the similar magic that was exhibited by the Princess of Zeal, Lavos... rejected his current herald... and chose another... no to say that he simply made her his herald is incorrect. Princess Schala would've never been willing to serve Lavos, so... Lavos took another route to controlling her. Lavos instead absorbed Schala, gaining access to her Time-Space Magic as well as... the ability to feed on Time-Space itself."
>>
"No. That...! That can't be!" Magus suddenly rose to his feet, yelling at Gaspar in anger. "After all I did...! I refuse to believe that my actions have contributed nothing but making things worse! I... refuse to believe it!" Magus clearly wasn't willing to contribute anything meaningful to the conversation other than being upset that everything he did was for naught.

"Wait... something doesn't add up. If the future no longer exists, then... how does Robo still exist?" You wanted answers, and Gaspar seemed to have them for you in spades in spades.

"As time travelers who have visited the End of Time, you are all afforded a... certain degree of resistance to paradoxes. Thanks to being within the End of Time when the change was made however, Robo was instead rendered completely immune to the effects of the future where he originated being erased from time. He has become...something like a living paradox. An existence unconnected to even the events of his own past... for his past doesn't exist." Gaspar looked sad for a moment, before he seemed to cheer up a bit. "But not to worry! Just because everything seems hopeless, doesn't mean that it truly is!" Gaspar suddenly held his hand out and in it was...

"An... egg?" You looked at the large black spotted egg in Gaspar's hand. The egg seemed to glow softly with power.

"Not just any egg. That is a... well, it is something that I have worked on for a very very long time. I call it a Time Egg... or a Chrono Trigger." He seemed satisfied with himself when he revealed that.

"A Chrono Trigger?" The name sounded... odd. Did he name it after Crono? Perhaps it was just a coincidence?

"Yes, it is an object of immense power that can be used in dire circumstances to hatch it. It is... a device that allows for the changing of an unchangeable past by calling upon a divine source of power to alter history itself. In... the original past. I had worked on it to allow you to save Crono, who as I previously mentioned, would lose his life to Lavos as he sacrificed himself to save us all." As you took the egg and held it delicately in your hands, Gaspar crossed his arms. "However, that has not happened, so now... the Chrono Trigger is free to be used in another way... so I would suggest you use it to return to the moment just after you flee from Lavos... the moment before the Devourer of Planets reaches the larval state of the Time Devourer, the Devourer of Dreams... the power of the Time Egg will even stabilize the storm of energy you caused"

"So... you're saying that we can return to a moment that we've already passed with this thing? Then... is there anything stopping us from just... training for as long as it takes for us to all surpass Lavos in strength?
>>
"Sadly, there is." Gaspar sighed. "Even though Lavos' awakening occurs in the year 1999 and it will lay waste to time itself after that point... the power of Lavos has become so great that it spreads even backwards in time. Even now, rifts have begun to open up in every other era, and... I don't believe we have any more than a month before Lavos' power spreads fully to the past... for if Lavos manages to reach his own origin point... the temporal lock placed upon this planet will shatter, and the entire universe will be at the mercy of the Devourer of Time, even the Gods themselves would be powerless to stop such an entity, I am sure." Gaspar looked at you again, speaking softly as he revealed the dire situation you were now in. "I estimate that you have about a month before you will need to act. A month before the rifts get to a point where they will corrupt the past itself."

"So... you're saying that we have a month to get strong enough to beat Lavos?" It sounded like a difficult task, but... not impossible.

"Indeed. A month to save existence itself. Do you feel up to it?"

"I'd never back down from a fight. Especially not when there's so much on the line." You wouldn't just be fighting for yourself, but for everyone you cared about... for your entire race. For the planet you were born on. You couldn't allow yourself to lose. But... you were going to need to train. You were going to need to train harder than you had ever trained in your entire life.

He said it himself: If we had more magic and more magic control, we'd have been able to deal a killing blow.
So let's go the training route that gets us the most refined magic, and the most ki to convert into magic. Or at least more control over that ki, which will help with compression.
Everyone else learning to use Ki will be unbelievably helpful, and leaving three of our party members in the past is unacceptable (and to be honest they'd be a great help in training anyways, given their respective power levels and their own experiences with magic).

>>
>>5021774
That just means we need another couple (or maybe dozen) of big zenkais. The queen's power doesn't grow at a particularly fast pace, and at some point experience just won't bridge the gap. More than that, we're getting experience of our own against a variety of enemies while she isn't seeing a lot of combat on her planet right now.

Unless she has a Magic Glock™ or something equivalent, which is not something we can exclude a priori, then the point is moot.
It would be weird in a DB setting, but stranger things have happened.

Maybe. But she can no longer curb stomp us, and I'm less intimidated by her than by Magnus or Lavos.
We are quick and cunning and the brightest spark of our warrior cultures generations, she has experience by the centuries. With our squad, excluding her kids, shes manageable. Especially since she once lost to our inferior, in both strategy, strength and martial skill.
>>
The first thing that you needed to do was recover your missing allies, you'd need the help of Sycam, Euca and Parzlee if you were to defeat Lavos, you felt. The three of them had a huge amount of potential, and not giving them the same time to train as everyone else would just be an idiotic decision. Especially when you actually knew where the three of them still were.

After spending a few hours giving everyone the basic rundown of Ki if they hadn't received it before, you left to the era you had fought Magus in originally and raced to Magus' old castle, which was still in a pretty good shape, despite almost having been the location in which Lavos had been awoken. You had no interest in playing around with whatever was in the castle, so you simply used your scouter in order to pin-point the energy levels of your three missing allies and smashed your way through the castle from the outside until you reached them. The upgrades that your scouter had received really did make the thing retain a use even though theoretically your own ability to sense energy should have completely made it redundant. Though your own ability to sense energy depends on you actually paying attention, while a scouter has the ability to simply passively track any targeted power levels. Though it was weak to somebody hiding their power level, it's not like the same didn't hold true of sensing Ki by yourself.

Euca, Sycam and Parzlee were obviously surprised to see you, and Parzlee was dressed in a ridiculous outfit. Black Platemail and a red cloak. She was happy to see both you and Khive and revealed that she had been unanimously elected as the new Demon Queen... after you and Khive failed to suppress your laughter, you returned with the three of them to the End of Time. Parzlee had no problem with abandoning her role as the Demon Queen, and was very much glad to be out of the uniform. You have no idea why she even went along with the idea, did Sycam or Euca put her up to it? Ah well, the three of them had all grown somewhat stronger even in your absence, and now you'd be able to make sure that they got the full advantage out of training for the month you had until you needed to face Lavos.
>>
After you had everyone together, you spent a great deal of time teaching everyone all that you could about the usage of Ki. With both Parzlee and Khive assisting you where needed. The growth that everyone went through thanks to being able to utilize Ki better was once again incredible, those who could already use it grew stronger, and those who couldn't also gained a great deal of power. In fact, Magus was likely still stronger than you were thanks to now being able to use Ki in addition to all of his other magic. The constant sparring and training sessions that everyone was put through really did wonders to increase everyone's strength. If you had more time or better training facilities, you might've been able to make everyone even more powerful, but the training arena in the End of Time would have to suffice. Even for Lucca, making something like a training arena that could simulate hostile conditions to facilitate strength gain would take her too long to be of any use. If you had your ship still you might've been able to fiddle with the artificial gravity in order to create a gravitational environment similar to your home planet's gravity, or perhaps even greater.

However, even though everyone spent the majority of their time training with you, Crono and his friends did occasionally leave the End of Time in order to deal with some things in the past. You don't know what they got up to in the past, too focused on training everyone who didn't travel with them, but they did seem to come back stronger than they were before. Especially Crono and Frog.

When you weren't training everyone in the usage of Ki and sparring with everyone though, you were busy training your magic with Gaspar, who had a lot of tips and pointers for you when it came to actually uncovering what your magic was capable of...

Also how does magic energy unit generation work again? Do we generate some when we convert ki into them that can be spent during combat, and the amount generated is somewhat RNG dependent? Can we get a range on our generation rate?

And to beat the fuck outta Lavos, though it uses more than our Max Innate reserve, if it gets in.
>>
In the end, you ended up learning two new things from Gaspar, the first was something incredibly useful that you didn't expect to be able to acquire in the form of an innate reserve of magical energy, it turns out that Gaspar was able to teach you a great deal about magic that even Magus was unaware of, including just how to actually build up a permanent innate reservoir of magical energy, so that you no longer had to convert your Ki to magic energy if you wanted to use any of your spells. In learning how to do this, you erased a key step in the usage of your magic, and made yourself that much deadlier in combat. Now that you could simply use Haste at the very start of a battle without needing any preparation, your effective speed was practically doubled at all times. Haste was a ridiculously overpowered spell, especially in that it was seemingly possible to layer it atop itself, if you didn't mind paying the exponentially higher cost of doing such a thing. Of course, becoming twice as fast while already being twice as fast would make you four times faster! But... the cost was even higher than the second technique that you had been taught by Gaspar...

That technique of course was the Spacial Warping Fist, something that could truly be called an ultimate technique. By imbuing your fist with as much magical energy as you could that was aligned to the quality of Time-Space, you had created a technique that was sure to kill anything it hit, or if not kill, at least deal a tremendous amount of damage that was able to ignore the durability of whatever it was being used against. Instead of the attack being directed at the target who it is used at, it would be more accurate to say that the attack was one targeted at the space that they are within, creating tiny ruptures and rifts in space that last for only a fraction of an instant. Though those fractures last for a span of time that is almost equal to nothing, their presence isn't the aim of the attack. The effect they have in actually being generated however, is. The attack isn't one that relies on conventional energies or damage to harm an opponent, but instead relies on them being torn apart by the rending of the area they are within. Imperceptibly small rifts in space opening within them for just a moment before vanishing as if they were never there in the first place. To the unaware, it would appear to just be a powerful attack that caused cracks and ruptures in an opponent, but to those with a keener eye, they would realize that it was an attack that was capable of striking a target no matter how well the were shielded against damage. The only way to avoid taking tremendous damage from the Spacial Warping Fist was through dodging it entirely!
>>
"...And that concludes today's lesson, Rettace." Gaspar spoke tiredly as he leaned against the lamp post. The old man had countless eons of time to practice and master his magic, which was supposedly the reason he was capable of creating the Chrono Trigger, an object that during your training he compared to a tool of the gods themselves, and not the gods appointed to watch over singular planets, known as Guardians, but of the true gods overseeing the universe. Though he didn't have much more information than that about these so called supreme gods whom oversaw reality itself, other than the myth goes that each were a hundred times greater in power than any mortals. Though you weren't sure if you bought that. What if the strongest mortal grew more powerful? Would they simply become more powerful automatically to match? That was a ridiculous prospect. "And my... would you look at the time?" Gaspar smirked as he looked over to the portals. "It seems that we are... well, out of it, in more ways than we already were."

"Right. It's been a month, has it?" Time had really flown, but you had grown in strength by a good deal. Even so, you weren't quite sure if you were ready to defeat Lavos just yet. While you had become more powerful, defeating Lavos was still quite the terrifying prospect. To tell the truth you could've probably dealt with a little bit more time to prepare yourself to do battle with Lavos, but the rifts in time-space were already growing, according to Gaspar, you simply had no time left to train up any more than you already had.

"Indeed, a month has passed all throughout the connected times..." Gaspar sighed. "Now you must choose which path you wish to take to face Lavos... you have busied yourself with your training, but I ensured that Balthazar's efforts were not in vain before you battled Lavos. While you were training here at the End of Time, one of their aims was to retrieve the Epoch... that is, the time machine that Balthazar created, from the time of Zeal's fall. Their success is what gives you these options..." Hold on a second, they had a time machine? That's news to you.

Of course, you were more interested in the so-called options that you had laid out before you than discussing the presence of this time machine. "Options? What are you talking about?" You asked the old man, who chuckled as he leaned on his walking stick.
>>
"The first of your options is to travel to the time of Zeal's fall, seek out the ruins of the Ocean Palace, and activate the Chrono Trigger there, which will bring you directly to the moment you vanished. The second of your options is to traverse the dimensional rifts, facing all sorts of abberant dangers on your way to Lavos... and the final way is to install the Crono Trigger to the Epoch in order to override the limitations it has in targeting eras directly... though that will likely end with the machine's destruction."

"We'll traverse the Dimensional Rift, who knows, we might get some good training in at the same time!" Despite having grown in strength, you still didn't know if you had grown powerful enough to defeat Lavos just yet, and some powerful opposition before the big finale might be just what you need in order to grow strong enough to defeat Lavos once and for all! With your new ultimate technique, you had a way to bust through Lavos' shell, but... something told you that wouldn't be the end of it.

"Yes... you might just. The Dimensional Rift... I cannot fully tell just what lies within it, only that at the source of it all lies Lavos. Though I am sure that within it you are certain to find creatures more powerful than any within the eras you have traversed already." Well, that wasn't much of a threat honestly, outside of Lavos himself, you hadn't really met much in the way of a true threat on this planet. Not that you weren't capable of instantly turning the tables on them with your Oozaru form, at least. Magus was strong of course, as was Queen Zeal, but they were both adversaries that were both easily defeatable if you relied upon the true power of a Saiyan... Lavos was still an enemy that you still weren't sure that you could defeat, even with your new technique. After all, not only had Lavos survived the uncontrolled storm of time-space energy that you inadvertently unleashed, but had even used it to become more powerful than ever. You were unsure of just what sort of intellect Lavos held. Was it truly the brainless force of destruction that it appeared to be...? Or was it something more malevolent? Was there a purpose to the actions that it took? You couldn't tell.

"Then it's settled. Growing more powerful fighting whatever gets in our path on the way to Lavos might just make the difference when we actually get to Lavos himself. I don't want to take any chances..." You grit your teeth. "I already lost to Lavos once, and I have no intention of allowing that loss to go unrectified." You were a Saiyan, to allow yourself to be beaten by an enemy a single time was humiliating, but in this case, unavoidable, but to be beaten by the same foe twice was something that a Saiyan would be incapable of tolerating. You might've fought with more pragmatism than the rest of your race, but you still had your pride as a warrior on the line, and being defeated by some space parasite despite giving it your all was intolerable to you!
>>
You turned away from Gaspar. "Good luck, Rettace. Remember, that the fate of this world... no, the fate of time itself rests with you and your allies. If Lavos successfully breaks the lock upon this world and overwrites the origin point of its arrival on this world, then no force in this universe will be able to stop him." No pressure then? You smirked. You were a Saiyan, it wasn't in your nature to fight for others, your entire race was selfish and driven by self-interest and a lust for battle, but... at the same time, you wanted to protect the people you cared about. Khive, Parzlee, Euca, Sycam... even Crono and the people you had met on this planet. You had grown to think of them as your comrades too, you weren't going to allow their planet to be destroyed by some monster who had no right even being on their planet, and if you met the brainless god who decided that it would be a good idea to imprison Lavos here instead of simply killing the beast, you'd kick their ass too, god or not!

You approached Khive and Parzlee, who were still sparring with each other while waiting for you to take care of your business with Gaspar, and you smiled at the two girls when they noticed you. "Good news, girls. It's time." You kept your words brief, and the two girls nodded.

"So, I'm finally going to get to see this Lavos thing myself, huh?" Parzlee cracked her knuckles. "I should've known that you wouldn't have been able to defeat it without my help, boss." She smirked at you, despite being a fair bit weaker than you were right now, she had confidence in spades. That was the Parzlee you knew, overflowing with enthusiasm for battle and raring for a fight, even against an enemy that was powerful enough to overcome even the might of an Oozaru...
>>
Of course, thinking on the power of the Oozaru, you hadn't found the time to train Khive to properly be able to control herself as a Great Ape, and you didn't want to risk her getting out of control if you were forced to use your Power Ball once again to fight with Lavos. So... you had actually petitioned Lucca for help, asking her for something that allowed for the blocking of Blutz waves in order to prevent the transformation from occurring. While originally, Lucca seemed to think it would only be possible through the creation of a full body forcefield projector that blocked Blutz Waves, when she discovered that the transformation was normally triggered through looking at a source of Blutz Waves directly, she concluded that Saiyans absorb the majority of the energy through their eyes, which turned out to be excellent conductors of the energy, or so she said. Because of this, it was a simple matter of her whipping up three sets of contact lenses that blocked 99.9 percent of Blutz Waves, thereby preventing the transformation entirely. What was more impressive was the fact that she mentioned that it would be possible to accomplish the opposite through similar principles, creating a set of contact lenses which instead stored Blutz Waves and allowed for a transformation at any time without either moon-light or the creation of artificial Blutz Waves like through your Power Ball, once again establishing herself as a brilliant scientist and easily the most intelligent person that you knew.

Of course, such things would be a creation for the future, after you had dealt with Lavos. The ability to undergo the transformation into a Great Ape without needing to use the somewhat costly Power Ball was a very tempting prospect of course, but not really one that you had much of a reason to pursue right now. Your training to defeat Lavos obviously took precedence over such things, and that included Lucca's own training too.

"I wouldn't be so excited if I were you, Parzlee. You're not that much stronger than I was when I fought Lavos myself as you are right now, and trust me... it is not a fun opponent to battle." Whereas against an opponent of humanoid size, even a defeat could teach you a lot and be enjoyable in a sense, against Lavos, a defeat only taught you that you simply needed to be more powerful. There was nothing to learn from battling Lavos other than a lesson of pure power. No matter how much more skilled or experienced you are compared to your opponent, if they were a hundred times stronger than you were, then there was simply nothing you could do against them. It was unfair, but you had already learned that lesson against Spekkio. Sometimes against an overwhelming difference in power, there was nothing that could be done. An infuriating prospect to you, somebody who had spent his entire life training and growing stronger, but the solution was as simple as it was obvious. You just had to get stronger. That was all there was to it.
>>
"Come on, with all three of us fighting together, nothing can stop us!" Parzlee still sounded confident in your ability to work as a team, and... well, she wasn't wrong. Fighting as a team was certainly more effective, especially against somebody like Lavos. In fact, had it not been for Khive's inability to control herself as an Oozaru, or the comparative weakness of your allies compared to you at the time, you may have actually been able to defeat Lavos! It was just unfortunate that they didn't have any sort of transformation available to them which could increase their power as you did, or even as Euca did... Sycam however didn't seem to be capable of using the same transformation that his sister could wield, but... the two of them had tails now, so they too could likely access the form of the Oozaru... though it would require actually testing the two to see if their tails were more than just vestigial limbs inherited from their father... a terrifying thought struck you at that moment. What if Euca was capable of utilizing her horned state at the same time as her Oozaru transformation?! She'd be... terrifyingly powerful!

"Well, you're not wrong, but I wouldn't leave out Sycam and Euca in that assessment." The five of you together worked well as a team, and their father would be proud of both of them, you thought. Speaking of the two though, you decided it was about time you caught up with Euca and Sycam before the big battle. "Be prepared for the most difficult fight of your life, regardless. You may have been informed of just how powerful Lavos is, but that much isn't enough to truly make you ready for seeing it in person." You warned Parzlee as you turned away and started walking towards Euca, Sycam, Magus and Flea, who had seemingly started some sort of demon-blood based friendship group. How nice.

"Hah, well, we'll see just how strong this Lavos is, boss. I've been working on something special that I haven't shown you yet." Parzlee was still confident despite your warning, but you decided to let it go, she'd understand the threat that Lavos presented when you faced off against the beast, until then, it was fine that she was confident. She was a Saiyan after all, and expecting a Saiyan not to be excited to fight against a strong opponent was folly. The only reason you and Khive were wary about fighting Lavos was because you had born witness to the power of the monster first hand, and were aware that Lavos wasn't an enemy that even a Saiyan could afford to take lightly.
>>
Approaching your more... demonic allies, Flea was the first to notice your presence, and waved happily at you as you approached. "Oh, there you are, master!" You really wished that he'd call you by your name, or preferably anything other than 'master' but you didn't really have much of a choice in the matter. Demons were mercurial beings who usually did what they wanted unless they were bound to servitude, and even then, things like what they called the one who they had been contracted to were entirely of their own choice. "We were just talking about how much progress we've all made in wielding Ki! Check this out!" Flea smiled as he held out a hand and generated five balls of Ki that formed the shape of a pentagon before they started to spin in his hand, slowly accelerating until they turned into spinning rings of Ki, which they then threw at the lamppost Gaspar was standing under.

Instead of exploding upon impacting the lamppost, the ring of energy sliced straight through it, and you were left in awe at Flea's rapid progress in the manipulation of Ki and the application of it, turning the energy they were previously unfamiliar with into a deadly weapon that even you hadn't thought of. Of course you knew that it was possible to create blades of Ki, and even that it was possible to use such blades as projectile weapons, but it was usually such an energy intensive attack that it wasn't worth the energy to create them... what Flea had done was seemingly remove that limitation by applying a spinning force to his Ki instead, using the rotation to increase the destructive power of his attacks to such a degree that they cut instead of blasted! It was... genius!

However, speaking of the lamppost, a cursory glance at the man standing underneath it showed a very upset looking Gaspar... though there was no damage evident to the lamppost itself, had he fixed it somehow? Interesting...

"That's very impressive, Flea." You gave the demon some deserved praise before you turned to look at the rest of your demonic allies. "But... that alone will not be enough to overcome Lavos, I'm going to need the four of you at the top of your game for this coming fight, understand?"

"At the top of my game?" Magus repeated after you, before he laughed. "I've been training for my entire life for this moment, and I will not allow the chance to defeat Lavos pass me by once again. I cannot allow myself to be defeated a second time. Not when I still have the chance to save Schala... not when I still have the chance to make everything right." Magus sounded serious, and you nodded, before looking at Sycam and Euca.
>>
"Well, it's not like I really have that much personal investment in this planet, but... it was pretty cool being a demon general, so I guess it would suck if it was destroyed." Euca sounded relatively non-committal. "But we need to go kill the big monster so it doesn't explode time or something, right?" She clearly hadn't been paying attention, and Sycam sighed, exasperated at his sister's lack of proper attention for the direness of the situation.

"That's right, Euca. If we don't stop Lavos now, then from what I understand, the world will... wait a second, really? That's your reason for wanting to protect the world?!" Something seemed to strike a chord with Sycam as he started to berate his sister. "Sis, you... you held a more important position back home!" He wasn't wrong, wasn't she some sort of princess? You didn't really familiarize yourself with how their royal family worked.

"Yeah, but... mom isn't around on this planet to tell me what to do, so..." She just shrugged, and Sycam covered his face with a palm.

"You're impossible." You felt a twinge of sorrow for Sycam, having to put up with his sister's whims like he did, but... he didn't seem to hate it. The two were siblings, and it was very obvious that they had a very different dynamic to Parzlee and Khive. Euca was very clearly impossibly irresponsible, and the more you think about it, the more it seems that Sycam was likely sent with her to make sure that she didn't end up doing anything too idiotic... though considering that she clearly just went with whatever her whims were anyway, it was pretty clear that he wasn't doing a very good job at it. "But yeah, I'd say that we're both ready for whatever this Lavos can throw at us." You didn't want to dampen their spirits, and you were sure that Magus had already given the two of them plenty of warnings about Lavos already, so you held your tongue when it came to further warnings.

"Well, just don't underestimate Lavos." You broke away from the four and headed towards the last group, which just so happened to be the largest group. Crono, Lucca, Ayla, Marle, Robo and Frog, the six were having some sort of conversation as you approached, and you overheard some of it.

"I understand that Sir Cyrus wished me to let go of my righteous indignation towards the foul misdeeds of Magus' past and work with him to defeat Lavos, but... I shalt be honest, I still do not trust him." Frog was speaking, and speaking of his lack of trust for Magus of all things, but surprisingly, it was Crono who spoke up in Magus' defense.
>>
"What he did in the past was terrible, there's no doubt about that, but... all this time, he's been working towards something like defeating Lavos. It doesn't justify what he did, but... I think we can trust him... at least as far as it comes to fighting Lavos." Crono was right about that much, at least. Even if Magus did turn out to be an enemy after all, which you strongly doubted at this point, you shared the goal of defeating Lavos with him.

"You know, he's not all that bad, Frog. In fact, I'm pretty sure that the only reason that he hasn't broken the curse he placed upon you is because you haven't asked him to do so." Marle spoke up in Magus' defense now as well, and the amphibian seemed perplexed by the support that his allies had for his oldest enemy, though he clearly understood their points.

"Affirmative. My Analysis of your Magical Ailment confirms that there is a 90 percent certainty that Magus is capable of reverting your current condition, and a Socio-emotional analysis confirms a 95 percent certainty that Magus would reverse your condition." Robo had apparently received a great deal of upgrades courtesy of Lucca and her Father while the rest of you trained, and had become quite a bit more powerful as a result, in addition to having additional systems built onto him by the girl genius. It was unbelievable that she was capable of not only repairing tech that was nearly a millennium beyond her, but that she was capable of upgrading it too! She had managed the same thing with your scouter and your armor too, so you shouldn't have been so surprised, but it was still amazing. Robo had an odd existence now, according to Gaspar. He'd been removed from his own origin point due to being at the End of Time when the erasure of the apocalyptic future took place, no longer was he at risk of being erased through the meddling of time. If it was some god's duty to ensure that time flowed properly, you're pretty certain that the existence of Robo would displease them. Even if the future were to be restored as it was before, then all that would end up happening would be the creation of a second Robo. He was now totally detached from the timestream, immune to any changes of the past, the future or the present.
>>
"Magus strong. But Ayla think he good person, but hide it. Shouldn't hide it." Ayla crossed her arms, nodding with her eyes closed, agreeing with everyone else. Even Ayla had managed to see that deep down, Magus was a good person. Everything he had done, he had done to try to stop Lavos. He was a man who had never lived for himself, but had devoted himself to a singular purpose, one of revenge, but of revenge that as a direct consequence would save the world. There was no doubt that Lavos needed to be stopped, and who cared if Magus had a personal investment in the destruction of the monster? Lavos had destroyed his entire life and killed everyone that he had ever known, stranding him in another era as a result, it was pretty obvious that Magus was actually the young prince Janus, but you didn't know if anybody else had figured that one out just yet... when you thought about it, you knew a lot of princes and princesses.

"I'm in agreement with everyone else, of course. Magus has shown himself to be nothing but an ally since joining our cause... he might be abrasive, but... he is our ally. We're going to have to trust him if we want to beat Lavos." Lucca gave her view of the situation, and Frog sighed. Clearly not entirely happy about having to work with his greatest enemy like this, but at the same time, his hatred for Magus had seemed to have mostly dried up anyway, seemed like he found some closure in the time you were busy training.

"For the record, I'm in agreement with everyone else too." You chimed in. "Magus hasn't given me any reason not to trust him." In fact, he'd given you every reason to do the opposite. Magus was fighting for the sake of his family here... or at least for the sake of his sister. In fact, if things go well with the Chrono Trigger, it might even be possible to rescue Schala from the clutches of Lavos! Though you doubted that the Kingdom of Zeal could be saved at this point, not that it would be worth it to save it anyway, not unless you wanted to completely change the worlds that Crono and his friends would go back to.

"I suppose I shall have to put my grievance with Magus aside then." Frog finally accepted Magus as his ally, before he shook his head and ribbeted. "Magus can revert this condition of mine after he has helped us slay Lavos. I would not give up this form when I still require the strength it grants me. Lavos will fall to the power of the Grandleon!" He raised his sword to the sky and it glowed softly, lightning crackling around it faintly. The weapon held a terrifying amount of power even when Frog wasn't calling upon it truly! Had it grown even stronger than the last time you saw it, or was it a result of Frog's own growth in strength?!
>>
"Well, that's good. I get the feeling that we'll need both of you in the final battle." You nodded. "Speaking of which, it's about time for us to depart. We're going to be traversing one of the dimensional rifts that has opened up in order to reach Lavos through that. So if there's anything else you want to do before we enter, now is the Point of No Return." You looked at the six of them, and received determined gazes in response. Looks like everyone was ready. Now you just had to determine how you wanted to go about this.

After a few minutes of getting everyone together, the entirety of your group had found themselves standing around the center of the End of Time, gathered mostly around Gaspar's lamppost. The old man seemed to be slightly frustrated at how he was being cramped by the overabundance of people in the small outpost that he had created, but he didn't complain.

When everyone was together, you decided to speak up, deciding to take the role of the leader here, considering that you were the most experienced person that you could be sure that everyone would actually listen to. "Alright, everyone! Today's the day we take the fight to Lavos!" You kept the trepidation out of your voice as you addressed your allies. "We've been training for this long in order to ensure that we can take revenge on the monster, and that's what I intend to do!" You held the Chrono Trigger in your hand as you looked at each of them. "We'll be using the Chrono Trigger that was given to us by Gaspar in order to open up the pathway to being able to defeat Lavos in the past, just after we fled him originally, and before he has a chance to become too powerful for us!"

Everyone seemed to be in agreement so far, so you kept talking. "To do that, we're going to enter into the Dimensional Rift that has formed in 1000AD and traverse it as two groups!" There were a few murmurs at the idea of splitting the group up before the fight with Lavos, but again, no real complaints, it was just clear that there was some concern about not taking Lavos on with the full power of the group... not that you could blame them. "At the end of the Dimensional Rift lies Lavos, the source of the disturbances within this world's space and time, and... should we fail, a threat to the entire universe." It was strange that so much was relying upon your victory now. Not just the fate of this single planet, but the universe itself was seemingly at risk from the terror of Lavos. You just had to make sure that you didn't fail.

"The two groups will consist of two sub-leaders, I'll be the leader for the group consisting of myself, Khive, Parzlee, Euca, Sycam, Flea and Magus." It made sense that you'd lead the Saiyans as well as Magus and Flea, considering that even though Crono's group were reluctantly willing to trust Magus, he was first and foremost your ally. The rest meanwhile were givens that they'd prefer to have you in charge. "The second group will have Crono as their leader, and will consist of Crono, Marle, Lucca, Frog, Ayla and Robo." It just seemed... right, to have Crono act as the leader of his own group of allies that he had amassed, you were certain that they'd already decided to consider him their unofficial leader anyway, even if he didn't speak all that much.
>>
"Alright, that sounds fine by me." Crono nodded, accepting the role you gave him. "This time, we won't be beaten by Lavos." He sounded determined, excellent. Truth was, outside of their Ki Training, you didn't actually know how much stronger that Crono and everyone else had gotten outside of their energy signature, but you already knew that Magic could be used to partially deceive such readings anyway, just from how much versatility that it had. Whether it was possible to create a scouter that could take magical potential into account when it came to read-outs, you didn't know. But... it sure would be a useful feature to have added onto your scouter. You imagined that Lucca could further upgrade it if she had access to more examples of the tech in addition to other examples of space technology. Being able to repair and improve on technology centuries beyond her with a bunch of scraps and primitive tools still stunned you in just how impressive it was. "Everyone ready?" Crono called out to his own squad, who responded positively, seems that everyone had prepared themselves as best they could.

"Excellent." You turned away from Crono and his group to face those who you had chosen to be on your squad. "Everyone is ready then, no last minute requests, nothing anybody wants to do before we leave for the rift?" Your question was met with silence, everyone seemed to be prepared for what lied ahead. Well, as prepared as they could be, to tell the truth, aside from Lavos itself, nobody knew just what might be lurking within the Dimensional Rift, though you were confident that you could handle whatever was in the strange anomalous region of space, especially with the back-up of your allies.

But just as you were about to go, a voice called out from directly behind you, and you stopped in your tracks. "How about... a rematch, hmm? To test your skills against me before you set out to defeat Lavos?" You hadn't even noticed his approach, but it seems that Spekkio wished to fight you once again. Though his small horned form apparently wasn't his true form, considering that everyone else saw something different when they looked at him, it was the form you had grown to associate with him. "I'd wager that you might be able to defeat me as you currently are, even without relying on your ape transformation!" Spekkio praised your abilities, and you stopped and thought for a moment. It was obvious that you'd be outclassed in terms of pure power and speed against Spekkio, but at the same time, you had grown a lot stronger since the last time you fought against the shapeshifting god.

"Alright, I accept your challenge." You weren't going to walk away without battling Spekkio again, and this may well be the last chance you get to face off against this opponent. "Crono, take your group and go on ahead, this shouldn't take long." You asked Crono to go on ahead without you and your group, the benefits of having the group split up is that you could afford a minor distraction like this. This would prove to be your last test to ensure that you were ready for the Dimensional Rift.

"Confident in yourself, are you?" Spekkio laughed, causing you to frown in annoyance. "Try not to forget what happened in our last fight, please." There was something about his current form that seemed to rub you up the wrong way. That form of his... it was the same form as had sometimes appeared in your visions of the future, yet at the same time, you knew that Spekkio and the owner of that body had to be different entities. Could it be... that Spekkio had taken the form of the small horned alien... because of your vision of him? It was a strange thought, but... it might just be the case!

"I'm not going to lose this time, trust me. I'm going to go all out from the start!"

"Then I too, shall not hold back the power of this body." Spekkio's words were dangerous, but even though that body undoubtedly overpowered you, you were still a Saiyan, which meant that not only wouldn't you back down from his challenge now that you had grown stronger, but that you'd endeavor to defeat him too. You were confident that you'd find a solution to defeating Spekkio, and while you could have your allies help you in the fight, that wouldn't do. Spekkio was an opponent that you needed to defeat by yourself.

Soon enough, the two of you found yourself facing off in the small fighting area at the End of Time, and you knew that you couldn't afford to play around at all. But you had a plan already. You were planning on saving this for Lavos himself, but... you supposed that it wouldn't hurt to use it here. "I'm ready whenever you are, Rettace. I shall... allow you the first hit."

"Oh, that's very generous of you." You smirked at Spekkio, before you began to concentrate on your innate magic reserves. "Now, let's see if you can deal with me at my fastest! Haste!" You use a single one of your reserve Magic Energy Units for the spell, but then your grin grew ever wider. It cost you thirty five percent of your total reserve of Ki in order to get the additional energy that you needed, but it was worth it. The conversion to Magic Energy was rapid, and it allowed you to do something you... had yet to actually use, before now, it was entirely a thought experiment. "Double Haste!" You called out the name of the enhanced version of the spell you had already cast upon yourself, increasing your speed once again, doubling your already doubled speed and making yourself four times faster than you normally were. You had left yourself a single Magic Unit in reserve, just in case.
>>
"Interes-" Spekkio didn't get to finish his sentence, as before he could, you rocketed towards him with an uppercut, sending him flying upwards before you leapt up to follow him, grabbed a leg, and smashed him down into the ground like he was a hammer and the floor was your anvil. Even with your massively increased speed, Spekkio didn't seem to be all that fazed by the attack, picking himself up from the crater that his own impact had formed and dusting himself off. "It seems that in your current state, your speed exceeds my own. Though your power... it still leaves much to be desired." Spekkio gave an assessment of your attack, and you frowned. It looks like velocity alone might not cut it in this case. You were hoping that the increased speed of your strikes would allow for them to be damaging enough to harm Spekkio, but you were obviously going to need more than just speed here.

"Come on, step up your game, Spekkio!" You had figured out how to keep the physical enhancements to your speed, but prevent your sense of hearing and your speech from being accelerated. It was all well and good being able to see faster than normal, but all that accelerating your hearing and speaking did was make you both incapable of understanding people, as well as incapable of talking to them unless you spoke incredibly slowly, and you really didn't feel like doing that.

"Step up my game?" Spekkio laughed, a regal arrogant laugh that was no doubt inherent to his current form. "I have yet to even show you the game that we're playing! Behold!" Spekkio suddenly pointed at you, and a beam of piercing purple light shot forth at speeds that would've been impossible to dodge for the you of about fifteen seconds ago, but at your current level of speed, while dodging was still difficult, it was not impossible, and you slipped to the side of the attack, even though it had been aimed with deadly accuracy.

"That was it? A laser? If I wanted a laser, I'd have asked Lucca to build me one." You kept your response cool and smug as Spekkio fired another of those deadly beams at you, and you leapt over it. But you couldn't keep dodging forever, Double Haste was a spell that only lasted for about a minute, all together, and spending all your time in the enhanced form playing around and dodging attacks wasn't a good use of your time. "Let me show you a real beam attack!"

You began to charge the energy in your palms as you fell to the ground, the time you spent charging the attack only a quarter of what it would normally be thanks to the power of Double Haste, and in both of your hands you had charged an attack that was far greater than a normal Mirror Wave was.
>>
"Spiral Mirror Wave!" You let loose the attack, sending the two beams of energy streaming towards Spekkio while they spiraled around each other. The constant rotation of the attack increasing the piercing strength and making for a far deadlier attack than usual, not to mention that the spiraling nature of the attacks meant that they could reflect off of each other if a target dodged the initial strike, allowing for near instantaneous corrective action to be taken to hit even an opponent who managed to get out of the way of the initial attack!

Spekkio however, had fallen directly for the trick of the Spiral Mirror Wave, as though he didn't attempt to dodge away from the attack, he attempted to block it head on, just for the two spiraling projectiles to separate from each other in order to miss him entirely before reversing backwards to blast into his back! But... that alone still wasn't enough to put him down, nor was it enough to really even damage him. Despite your growth, you were still incapable of defeating Spekkio with your own attacks, but... then an idea formed in your head. If your own attacks weren't enough to defeat Spekkio... then what if you hit him with one of his own?

"I was really expecting more, Rettace. Is this all that you have accomplished in a month? You've not even doubled your strength! Your speed is impressive, I will admit, but... speed alone will never allow you to overcome somebody that you can't hurt!" Spekkio was clearly trying to give you a lesson here, but... you knew how to deal with him now.

"Yeah yeah, whatever. Just hit me with your stupid beam attack." You taunted Spekkio, acting as if you were bored, and fortunately, the god didn't seem to notice that you actually had a plan. While you could choose to slow down your own rate of speech in order to be comprehensible to others, it wasn't like you actually had to speak slowly.

"As you wish! Death beam!" Spekkio pointed at you once again, and in the moment that you saw the flash of purple light appear from the fingertip of your enemy, you acted. Speaking as quickly as you possibly could.

"Teleport!" You appeared to the side of Spekkio before the attack had even reached the halfway point to striking you, and in that moment when Spekkio's eyes widened, you realized that he understood just what you were planning, but was simply too slow to stop you as you grabbed his shoulder and traced the path of the beam that he was still in the process of shooting with your eyes. You didn't have a lot of time left, so you once again spoke as quickly as you could manage, and... "Teleport!"
>>
You appeared back in front of the now interrupted Death Beam with Spekkio held out in front of his own attack, the beam gouged a hole straight through his shoulder, and you dropped the Master of War, letting him fall to the ground, defeated. While he could almost certainly keep fighting, after an injury like that, he should've realized that you could've easily made the attack a fatal one.

"Impressive. You really have grown in power and skill as well." Spekkio congratulated you as you came back to the ground. "I believe that you are ready to face Lavos."

"Now, I suppose that I should give you some sort of reward for defeating me... hmm..." Spekkio seemed to be deep in thought for a moment, but then he seemed to have an idea. "Ah! I know, how about I give you something that will help you to become stronger?" Something about the way Spekkio said that made you think that was what he was actually planning from the start.

"In... what way? Not that it isn't appreciated, but you should know that our time is pretty limited here." While you knew that Crono and his friends would probably be fine, you were still apprehensive about them being able to defeat Lavos all by themselves. They had gotten stronger, but at the same time, Lavos was capable of defeating you even when you were using the full power of an Oozaru, and you somehow doubted that they'd gotten stronger than you as you were back then.

"I know, I know, though I do have the ability to manifest a few things for you as a result of you defeating me at my best that will be of immediate help to you... it's just that through the nature of my power, I couldn't give them to you without you defeating me, otherwise I would have simply given you all that I could immediately, with what is at stake." As annoying as that sounds, the fact that you managed to defeat Spekkio regardless and without knowing there was going to be a reward for it made it so you didn't really care. It's not like he was holding out on you when the fate of the universe was on the line.

"So what is it that you have for me?" Every second that passed was one that you weren't spending getting to Lavos, but you supposed that a few more minutes couldn't hurt. You'd just have to have faith in Crono's group for now.
>>
"Medicine... or rather pills... of the empowering variety. You already found a Strength Tab, correct?" You wondered just how Spekkio knew that, but you nodded to confirm anyway, and Spekkio laughed. Though in his current form, the laugh was shrill and horrible, and you really didn't enjoy that. "You did well enough that I can grant you a few of these tablets... there are... three varieties..."

>You can take 17 in total, Rettace can take all the tablets for himself or give some to his teammates.

>Strength Tab: A pill that focuses entirely on the rapid growth of strength as a whole. Each Strength Tab grants an additional 4000 to your total power level. As something focused entirely on strength, these tablets do nothing other than that.
>Speed Tab: A pill that focuses on speed over anything else. By taking a Speed Tab, you gain a boost of 1000 to your total power level as well as the ability to focus in order to enter a mode of intense concentration in which you gain a boost in your speed, taking one Speed Tab would make you 20 percent faster than normal in this mode, while two would make you 40 percent faster. It is unsafe for a regular person to consume more than 15 of these in total. Due to the intense focus needed, this mode cannot be used with any transformation that increases your rage.
>Magic Tab: A pill that focuses on magical power. By taking a Magic Tab, you don't gain any sort of boost to your total power level, but your ability to handle magic increases. Each tablet increases your innate magic reserve by 3 points.

Remember it was said in the fight with Spekkio that it didn't matter if we outsped the opponent, if we didn't have power to back it up.

>>

>3 Strength

I get the impression well-roundedness is effective here. A Magic reserve of 20 (so a free space-distortion punch right off the bat with change), a +100% (no magic needed) speed buff, and a bonus 15k to overall power should be sufficient. Buff-stacking might get crazy. We also still have precognition though we haven't used it in a while.
We can then give each of our Onisthenia team one tablet to pick, their choice on which.
>>
So I did some math, 15 Speed Tabs equals one Double haste which equals 3.3 Magic tabs and gives a +15000 pl boost which equals 3.75 Strength Tabs. So it's kind of a net loss if you don´t count we might be able to stack it with Haste, in which case it's worth about 33 magic tabs?
>>
>>5032980
>17 Magic Tab
It's not a direct power boost, but it DRASTICALLY increases how much magical energy we can pump into our special attack that literally rips space apart around what we hit.
And it lets us use magic in general way more often.
And if Ki can be converted into Mana, then maybe the opposite could hold true with some testing.

I'd say hold onto most of them, maybe chug 5 Str Tabs ourself, and leave the rest for Lucca to study and re-create.
>>
Whatever we do, we should try and keep 1 or 2 magic tabs since they give an innate magic pool and we don't know if this style of magic is teachable or hereditary.
>>
>>5033553
Keeping at least 1 Speed Tab is also needed, to make sure that she can make them all. Having all 3 tabs available for production for our group would be INSANE, and any that we sell would go for LUDICROUS amounts
>>
>>5033393
What about something like this:
Rettace - 4 Power Tabs, 1 Speed Tabs, 1 Magic Tab.
Parzlee - 2 Power Tabs, 1 Magic Tab
Euca - 2 Power Tabs, 1 Magic Tab
Sycam - 2 Power Tabs, 1 Magic Tab.

That should leave us with 1 of each tab for future use, whatever it may be and gives a boost to the three members of our squad who didn't get to fight Lavos the first time. It should also give them an innate magic pool, allowing them to awaken their magic hopefully.
>>
>>5033569
Honestly? I like it, good idea, supporting.
>>
>>5033569
Pretty sure Euca and Sycam already have magic pools.

Fine enough, if only to make a consensus.

Leaving a speed and magic tab for Lucca re re-invent will be fine too

"Alright, then I want... 10 Strength Tabs, 2 Speed Tabs and 5 Magic tabs." You make your request, and almost immediately after having said the words, they all appear in your hand at once. Just how powerful was Spekkio anyway? Was the form he took to fight you the absolute limit of his power? Or was he possibly even stronger than that? You didn't know, and honestly, considering how you barely defeated him through trickery, you didn't know if you even wanted to know.

"And there you have it. Use them wisely!" Spekkio turned away from you to look out into the void of the End of Time. "And... good luck against Lavos. Even now, you're going to need it." While you could've taken Spekkio's words as a taunting insult to your strength, you knew that he was very much being genuine with his words. You had fought Lavos before, and even though you had grown more powerful, you knew that Lavos was still a tremendously powerful enemy, one that you had yet to grasp the full power of, even. While you may have now had the means to defeat it with your new technique, you couldn't afford to allow yourself to succumb to overconfidence. Not when Lavos still held an overwhelming power advantage over you, though... you might be able to close that gap somewhat...

You handed Parzlee, Euca and Sycam 2 Strength Tablets and a Magic Tablet each, keeping the rest to yourself as you looked at the three of them. "Alright, you three. Take those tablets now... Khive, I don't think you're going to need any of them, right? You can already use magic can't you?"

"That's right, I can." Khive nodded, and you nodded in turn. She didn't need the tablets after all, and she was already plenty strong enough anyway, even if the tablets would once again make Parzlee more powerful than her.

"Good, everyone else, take those tablets and you'll get stronger." You kept one of each in reserve, hoping that you might be able to have Lucca reverse engineer their composition so as to have an everlasting supply of the medicine. The idea of there being a tablet that existed that could immediately bring somebody up to the level of a Mid-Class Saiyan warrior was something that could completely turn the order of the entire galaxy on its head. That's why if it was possible to recreate these and possibly even mass produce them, you would endeavor to do so! Even if you felt it was somewhat cheap to use artificial means like those tablets to increase your power like that, considering the power of Lavos and whatever else might exist out there in the universe, you couldn't afford to let your pride blind you.
>>
You punctuated your point by shoving the six tablets in your hand into your mouth and swallowing them all at once, and immediately you could feel a new power welling up in you, the tablets taking immediate effect on your body and granting you the power that they promised without any sort of drawbacks. These things were just completely unfair. What if somebody got their hands on hundreds of Strength Tablets? Would they simply gain a power level in the millions? You supposed that you'd just have to answer that question yourself if you ever did manage to get them mass produced.

You involuntarily powered up a little as the newfound strength coursed through you, and your aura flared up around you, the energy was mostly clear and colorless, but there was the occasional streak of green there too. Odd, your energy was normally green, so what could've spurred the changed? It probably wasn't important.

Upon seeing you power up, everyone else takes their tablets and power up in kind, and you nod towards Spekkio as you head towards the exit. "Alright everyone. We're done here." You beckoned for Magus and Flea to follow you, the two of them had chosen to discuss matters related to Lavos rather than observe your fight against Spekkio, not that you cared all that much, it's not like they had Saiyan Blood that made them attracted to fights like the rest of your group did.

A few minutes later, and after traversing through the time portals for what might be the final time ever, you found yourself face to face with the rift in space. Positioned directly above a mountain and floating in the air was the crack in reality that lead to the Dimensional Rift, the place through which you could reach Lavos and use the Chrono Trigger to change the past, and in return, change the future once and for all! You were really invested in this now, you didn't know if it was right for a Saiyan to care so much about something like this, about saving a planet that wasn't even his own. But... at the same time, you had grown to like the company of at least a few of the people who called this planet their home... so that was good enough for you. Besides, you were here doing a favor for Kami, and you still hadn't paid him back for helping you get stronger. You had to suppress a chuckle as you looked at the rift, looking at the void behind it shimmer. You had gotten so much stronger in such a short period of time, it was ridiculous, where did the limits of your strength lie? You were at least dozens of times more powerful than you once were with the combination of the general growth of your strength and the new techniques you had available to you... not least of which being your control over magic.
>>
"This is it everyone! You ready?" Everyone was in agreement after you asked the question. Khive, Parzlee, Flea and Euca cheering in anticipation, whereas Magus and Sycam just nodded their heads calmly, both seemingly considering themselves above getting excited by the prospect of finally resolving things. Though deep down, you knew that the anticipation had to be gnawing away at Magus' heart. This was likely going to be the last chance he got to change things.

With any luck, you'd catch up to Crono's group quickly, thanks to you having possession of the Chrono Trigger, you sort of needed to be the one to reach Lavos first. Though with Lucca on Crono's team, you imagined that she'd not allow them to just go and confront Lavos now that the monster had reached a level far beyond what you faced before, the battle against Lavos would almost certainly be impossible without the power of the Chrono Trigger. You considered yourself powerful, you could even destroy a planet if you aimed an attack with a great deal of power at the core! But... a threat to the entire Universe, like what Lavos was metamorphosing into... well that was something you had no hope of defeating at all.

You entered through the portal finally, not knowing just what you might find on the other side, and immediately upon entering the rift, you found yourself blasted by unbearable heat! You looked around for a moment, noticing that you seemed to have come out in some sort of... magma filled cave. Cracks in the rock were visible all around the cave and through them molten rock was very clearly visible. "I'll take care of this." Magus was quick to act, and as soon as he entered through the portal, he had placed a shimmering red barrier around the party, protecting everyone from the heat of the cave. Magus' magical knowledge was still ridiculously expansive, you on the contrary knew three spells. Though those spells could all be put use extremely effectively, and you could always learn more.

As you wandered through the super-heated volcanic tunnels, you noticed the approach of some energy signatures, and informed everyone else to get ready. The enemies were all strong... far stronger than you were expecting, but... unlikely to be a threat to you. You activated your scouter, and the read-out confirmed that they were in a range of 35000-45000 in terms of their power level. They then came into view, bounding down the tunnels towards you, large red skinned beasts... almost dinosaur-like in appearance, but far more freakish. The skin on their face seemed to drape down off of their face in strips, and their eyes were sunken into their skull to a level that was disturbing.

"Alright, everyone. These guys aren't a threat. You all ought to know the drill by now." You held out a hand and lazily charged an energy wave, not even bothering to put the effort into the attack to make it one of your Mirror Waves. This much ought to do the trick.

"Right. No sense wasting energy on this fodder." Magus seemed to concur, and he too began to charge up an attack using his Ki. "Begone!" Magus fired a wave at the first of the approaching creatures, and his attack was swiftly followed by your own, then Flea's wave, then Khive and Parzlee's wave, and finally, the last waves to join in on the group attack belonged to Sycam and Euca,

There was a great explosion of power as the seven beams collided with the monsters, and you covered your eyes to protect yourself from the negative effects of looking into such a bright light. While it wouldn't have done much more than unfocus your eyes for a brief time, you didn't really see much of a point in dealing with that at all. You were far too pragmatic to allow yourself to be partially blinded like that, though you did realize something... if these energy beams could create such bright lights as a side-effect from detonating, couldn't the same principle be applied in reverse, to form an attack that directly targeted eyesight? Something to think about for later, an attack like that obviously wouldn't come in useful against Lavos. You weren't even sure if Lavos even had eyes in the first place. Still, something told you that it might be a worthy technique to develop in the future.

When the light and smoke cleared from the aftermath of the explosion, there was nothing left of the beasts other than a few stray smoking organs, all of them had been wiped out in a single attack from the seven of you. It didn't feel fair to have this many people with you, really. If there were less of you, this might've been a fight that could've actually posed a threat to you, but with so many powerful allies, all that you had to do to deal with them was to put forth a single attack and that would be the end of it. It wasn't really fair, but you knew that Lavos simply wasn't a fair enemy. You couldn't afford to go into this final battle without using every bit of combat potential you had available to you. There was too much at stake, and you'd been effectively defeated once already, even if it was more a result of your own unstable power that you had to flee, it's not like you actually had the means to defeat Lavos. It was lucky that your power did what it did, otherwise somebody definitely would've ended up dying in that battle... hell, you might've all ended up dying if you didn't escape when you were given the opportunity. But now... this time things were going to be different.
>>
"Just as expected. Animals like that can't possibly pose a threat to us as a group." Magus remarked as he inspected the remains of what would've once been incredible formidable foes to you before he shook his head. "If this is what we were told to worry about encountering in this strange place, then it was clear that Gaspar was vastly underestimating us."

"Maybe, or maybe there's stronger enemies that we've just yet to encounter." You didn't think doubting Gaspar was a wise move, the mysterious sage had already proven himself to be a pretty excellent source of information, and you had no reason to doubt his words of caution. This place was undoubtedly dangerous. The space between time, where all those that don't belong within time itself end up as a sort of limbo before disappearing to a place that cannot be observed. That was what this rift was... or at least that was what Gaspar had told you once during your training. That the dimensional rift is the space between time... if that made sense. Just as time affected space, so too does space affect time. The dimensional rift was a physical manifestation of that concept, of time and space interlocking with one another in an inversion of the natural order, where it is time dominating space rather than space dominating time. That was one of the reasons Gaspar warned you of the dangers of this place. The foes that could show up within this rift were... well, effectively infinite. You had in truth gotten lucky by stumbling into those strange red dinosaur-like monsters, considering just what you might've had to do battle with.

"I suppose we'll see about that." Magus spoke without much certainty, clearly, he wasn't entirely sure what to expect of this place either, even if that first battle was an easy one, that was only relative to your own power. Those monsters would've been able to overpower any Saiyan back on your home planet back in your time, with the only hope of victory for the Saiyans to be relying upon the form of the Oozaru. It was in a way terrifying just how powerful that simple beasts could become, that they would pose such a massive threat to even Saiyans considered Super-Elite!

"Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but personally, I'm hoping that we get a worthwhile fight or two in before we get to Lavos." Parzlee did some stretches as she walked behind you. She'd really been acting overconfident as of late, and you were wondering just why that might've been. Had she developed some sort of technique that would put her above you in strength or something? It was odd that she was acting so confident now.
>>
After a few more effortless battles against the resident monsters of this strange lava cave, the group came across a strange opening that seemed to lead out of the lava cave and to a different place entirely, a world wreathed in darkness, almost as if light had no place in area composed of shadows. It was strange, but you had no choice but to forge on. But something felt... wrong, a few seconds after you stepped into the shadowy realm, and you swore you felt a familiar power... and then you heard him.

"Oh, well look at this! I wasn't expecting I'd get to see you again, you damn rat!" Immediately, the voice put you on edge. How the hell?!

"Damn it, not this asshole again." You sighed as you pinpointed the signature of energy, locating the man walking slowly towards you and the group. "How did you even get here, Dalton? No... a better question... why the hell are you alive?!"

"Why am I alive? Ha! Did you really think that you could deal with the strongest warrior of Zeal with such ease? Compared to you, I am a god walking among the-"

"Look, I get that you want to gloat or do whatever it is that you think will make you feel better about being kicked off of your own aircraft, but... can you not? I'm sort of in a hurry here, and I'd much rather just kill you and move on." You weren't in the mood for any of this coward's games or tricks. You'd make sure that he died for real this time, and you moved to get into position to attack. He hadn't gotten stronger at all, so this should be over in an instant.
>>
"Not so fast!" Dalton pointed at you. "If you think that this battle is going to be anything like our last one, you can think again!" Dalton suddenly raised his hand to the sky, allowing you to get a brief glimpse of what he was holding before be shoved everything into his mouth. Strength and Magic Tabs?! And... more than two dozen of the damn things!

The area around you shook as Dalton powered up immensely, energy radiating off of his body as his Power-Level leaped upwards by sixty thousand points. Did he... really just take that many tabs?! How did he even get all of them?!

"Yeah! This is the sort of power I'm talking about! Damn that Zeal, keeping power like this hidden from everyone else! But now... Now I have no need for Zeal! No! I'll return to the Kingdom of Zeal with this power, and then I'll conquer it, I'll depose that imbecile woman and become the undisputed ruler of Zeal! But that's not all... with this power, and this rift between worlds... I can become the Emperor of Time Itself! I'll make all civilization throughout time bend the knee... to Emperor Dalton!"

"Alright everyone! We're taking him on together!" You yelled out a command to your allies, but Dalton laughed like a madman as you did.

"You'll do no such thing! Behold my power and feel fear! Plasma Hurricane!" Dalton suddenly screamed the name of a magic spell, and yellow lightning sparked from his hands towards you and your allies, but it was reinforced with a terribly strong wind! You blocked the forceful winds by putting a barrier of Ki around yourself in time, but everyone else had been blown back a great deal by the powerful attack, everyone except Euca, who was smiling.

"Huh, that stung a bit." The lightning from the attack crackled around her, but her smile grew savage and unrestrained as she looked at Dalton. "Guess I don't need to hold back against somebody like you, do I?" She suddenly started to power-up, a dark aura forming around her before... "Hrah!" A single horn appeared on the side of her head, and she smiled. "There we go. This ought to be enough to deal with you." Her power had doubled, and had put her easily on Dalton's current level of strength. You weren't one to be outdone though, so you focused and first entered your speed boosting mode before casting Haste. An increase of 20 percent might not seem like much right now, but used in combination with Double Haste, it would give you an increase of 80 percent! Double Haste wasn't exactly necessary to deal with somebody like Dalton though, even if he had managed to get the drop on everyone else with that spell of his.

"Ah! So two of you are still standing, even after that much? Well, don't fret, for I have merely begun to show you the power of an Emperor!" Dalton was absolutely full of himself, but...

"As if I'd let you!" Euca had moved with incredible pace, faster than Dalton was expecting, and had slammed her fist right into his face... or at least she would have, if her fist didn't stop a few inches from his face with a crashing sound, as if her fist had instead slammed into something hard.

"I don't need to ask for permission from a low-life like you!" He held out a hand towards the surprised Euca, and began to charge up yet another attack. "Inferno Pi-" You didn't let him finish his attack as you rushed forwards and slammed a palm into him, getting stopped by his barrier, but not before you managed to use the brief moment of distraction to grab Euca and drag her away from him. "Ha! Shouldn't you have realized by now? It's useless! You can't hope to break this shield with your pathetic attacks!"
>>
"Shut up." You clenched your hand and allowed the Ki Mine you had left on Dalton's barrier to explode, and as you had expected, the energy passed through the barrier and damaged him directly, though the damage done was relatively minor regardless. "As I expected, you can't make a barrier to protect you against something you can't understand, can you?"

"Can't understand...? How dare you even imply that?! I am Dalton! The mightiest warrior of the Kingdom of Zeal, the greatest magic wielder in a generation! As if there could be something that I, the Great Emperor Dalton couldn't understand! I'll teach you a lesson! Icicle Storm!" Another High Level spell started to form, and the temperature of your surroundings began to rapidly drop.

Damn it! You can't get out of the way of this one! "Euca! Use your Ki to defend yourself!" You shielded yourself with a barrier made out of your Ki, holding your arms forming a sphere around yourself that flickered slightly as the blizzard of deadly sharp icicle spears smashed into the energy. Hundreds if not thousands of the icicles battered against the shield and you could feel your Ki beginning to start to drain, it was quite energy intensive to keep active. You were just lucky that you managed to get the concept of an energy barrier down that quickly... though it was strange, it was quite the complex technique, but you figured out how to do it almost instinctively! Could it have something to do with the similarities behind this barrier and the shields that were utilized by magic users such as Magus? Regardless, it was holding.

"Damn it! How much energy does this asshole have?!" You cursed as you kept attempting to outlast the attack, being surrounded in the blizzard of icicles, you couldn't even see Euca, but... you could feel her. Her power was... rising? Not to mention that she didn't seem to have moved a muscle!

"You call this a storm?!" Euca's voice roared out as the icicles began to fade as the spell started to end. "I've felt breezes worse than this!" She sounded completely unaffected by the storm, and when the storm finally cleared and you could see again, you could see the girl standing there with her arms crossed and a smirk on her face. She hadn't managed to get away completely undamaged from the attack, but at the same time, the damage she had taken was incredibly minor, small cuts from the icicle spears that had been smashing into her. "You think that you're strong?" She took a step towards Dalton, who seemed shocked that she hadn't even attempted to defend herself from his attack.

"How... are you still standing after that? That attack should've been enough to kill the entire Zeal Armed Forces! Even the Blackbird should've..." Dalton was just as surprised as you were at Euca being so resistant to damage.

"I'm still standing because you're weak. You want to see what REAL power is?" Dark energy began to swirl around Euca as she started to charge, and your eyes widened in surprise at her gaining strength. "This is the power of the Onisthenians!" A second horn appeared on her head, and her power skyrocketed to an incredible level, doubling once again and making her far stronger than you currently were without relying on the Oozaru transformation.
>>
"Transform all you like, it won't make a difference to- eh?" Euca disappeared, far too fast for Dalton to see and at a speed that you could only barely follow thanks to having cast Haste on yourself. She rapidly moved behind the man and waited for him to realize that she had disappeared before making any other actions, apparently enjoying his confusion before slamming her fist right into his back, sending him flying into the air as a tumbling confused heap with a sound of shattering as his powerful barrier shattered from the force of the blow!

"Weaklings should know when to shut up." Euca began to charge an energy attack in her hand before pointing it at Dalton, and a great black beam of consuming light shot upwards.

"And fools should know when to kneel to their superiors! Flight! Haste!" Wait a second, he... he could use Haste too?! "That's right, you're not the only one who can make use of this power, idiot!" He looked down at you with a smirk on his face as he rushed out of the way of the huge beam of energy that Euca had intended to fry him with. "I didn't want to actually be forced to use my full power against the likes of you, but I suppose you've forced my hand! Heal II! Barrier II! Protect II! Shell II!" He rapidly cast four spells in a row, sparkling with energy as he used his magic to both heal and shield himself from further attacks. "Behold the power of an Emperor!"

Alright, this definitely wasn't the time to be messing around, Dalton was WAY more dangerous than you had been giving him credit for. No more messing about. "Double Haste!" You cast your most powerful spell and doubled your speed once again, you now had a massive speed edge over Dalton, and you raced forwards to attack him, but before you could reach him, Euca had made her next move! Using her own beam of energy to mask her approach as she traveled alongside it after breaking off the attack, she crashed through her own attack and landed a nasty uppercut square on Dalton's chin, but...

"Was that supposed to hurt me? While I'm like this, I'm invincible! You took me by surprise earlier, but I can assure you that it won't happen again! This is the greatest barrier I can create! Nothing can pass it! Don't you get it! There's no way to win! Just lay down and die like the-"

"Man, you never shut the hell up, do you?" Euca crossed her arms as the man raved at her. "I already know your weakness, and Rettace's technique... well, it's not difficult to replicate if you give it enough thought." Wait a minute... did she?
>>
"W-what?" A small sparkling purple light that had been planted on Dalton's chin drew your eye, and Euca gave a savage grin as she raised her hand and clenched her fist, causing a purple explosion to consume Dalton. The man soared backwards through the sky before he righted himself once more, he was burned badly, and it was a surprise that he'd even managed to survive that explosion so close to his face at all. "You've not won yet, you imbeciles! I'll kill you both! I'll-!

"Dispel." Magus finally rejoined you, a little worse for wear, and obviously annoyed, but apparently undamaged by the opening attack. As he spoke his spell, Dalton started to plummet out of the air, his limbs flailing wildly as he realized that he had just been stripped of all protections as well as his enhanced speed.

"Wait! Wait! No!" Dalton was panicking as he fell downwards, and you shared a quick look with Euca, both grinning as you charged your energy up for an dual energy attack.

"Spiral Mirror Wave!"

"Crushing Demon Wave!"

You called forth the Spiral Mirror Wave and had the two beams twist around each other whilst Euca let loose her attack, which was like an unstoppable torrent of fiery darkness that would consume all that it touched as it streaked towards Dalton.

"No! Nooooo!!!!" Dalton screamed as he was hit by the two attacks, and a mighty explosion occurred as they both made contact with the man. When the smoke cleared, nothing remained of the once General of the Kingdom of Zeal and would-be Emperor of Time and Space, nothing except for an eye-patch, which floated softly to the ground.

"Glad that's over with." You stretched a little bit. It had been decent exercise, but Euca clearly got the most out of this fight. "You know, if you had just fought like that the first time we met, you probably would've killed me." You spoke to the now obviously deceased Dalton, lamenting his original cowardice.

"Whatever. He's dead now, and everyone else is already back on their feet. Can we get going?" Magus decided to remind you of the mission, and you nodded, deciding that it was time to go. You could see a speck of light that seemed to be a great deal of distance from where you currently were, and decided that you probably needed to head towards it.

After what felt like about ten minutes of flying, you were finally approaching the source of light, it appeared to be some sort of... crack? This must be where you needed to go to reach Lavos to stop it once and for all. As you got close to the crack though, you hesitated for some reason, and suddenly, a voice called out from the crack.

"Hello? Is anybody there? If you can hear me, I'm going to need to ask for your help." An unfamiliar female voice called through the crack, and you tilted your head.
>>
"Wait, I can feel something! There's an energy signature through the crack!" Another voice called out, this time obviously a male's voice. What the hell was this crack, even?

"Oh good! Whoever you are, I need your help! The whole of time is in danger, and you're the only one who can stop it right now! I'm using all the power I can muster to keep this link open, this crack in reality is a link to a threat to all of time!" Yeah, you... already knew that.

>>What will Rettace do?
>Ignore the voice, just enter the crack, it was large enough for you to fly through.
>"I can hear you. What do you want?"
>"No soliciting." Fly through the crack.
>"Who are you?"
>"What do you think I'm here for?" Fly through the crack.

Nah, it's not lavos

I mean, even if it ain't Lavos, it'll be a good warm-up and practice.

I dunno man, it's how Dragonball always goes.

I'd genuinely be unsurprised to find that this link is to a BIGGER threat than Lavos who is himself, the biggest threat to time at present.
>>
>>5042431
It's way too early to pull a Cell arc, we are barely at the end of our first major arc.
>>
>>5042471
This, no way is this gonna be worse than Lavos, it'll be a different thing that's still way strong, but weaker than Lavos, and leaving it is just asking for it to show up later, even stronger than Lavos is now.
>>
>>5042498
That's still something we have to leave to deal with Lavos, since it's imperative we deal with this shit within the next few hours.
>>
"Who are you?" You called to the crack in the world, wanting to know just who the hell that you were dealing with here before you gave any conclusive answer as to what you would do about their request. You got the feeling that whoever you were dealing with here, they were almost definitely some kind of big shot, maybe the most important person you've talked to so far in your life, even!

"Who am I? Well, that's obvious! I'm the Supr-

"Ahem! Remember, no revealing who you are to people in the past!" The voice of an old man called out, interrupting the girl's voice before she could finish telling you who she was. "All that you need to understand is that this girl here is one of the only reasons that the Time Devourer hasn't escaped from your world yet!" Really, you had that girl to thank for the universe still being intact? Gaspar seemed to think that it was because Lavos had yet to overcome... what did he call it, an origin point?

"The Time Devourer... you mean Lavos, right?" You'd heard that name be used for Lavos by Gaspar before, hadn't you?

"If that's what you call the evolved Planet-Eater, then yes! I knew it was a bad idea to not just get the big cheese to destroy it all those years ago, but of course nobody ever listens to the junior Ka-"

"Who's revealing who you are now, old man?" The girl's voice interrupted the Old Man this time.

"Ngh..." The old man's voice sounded weak and dejected as they seemingly realized that the girl had them dead to rights.

"Regardless, the old-fogey here is right. It's only because of the power of my uh... station, that the temporal lock on the planet you're currently on is being upheld. I hadn't noticed it before, but... recently, things started to get really bad on the planet Terempus, and the sudden drain on my powers alerted me to it..." Drain on her powers... could she be talking about what you unknowingly set off through the... well, through the improper usage of your magic?

"So you're... the gods responsible for the seal?" It wasn't hard to piece together who these people were. Even if they were lazily attempting to keep their true identities sealed.

"Eh... something like that." The girl's voice answered. "What's going on in this planet... it's not something that should be happening in the first place, in a situation like this one, I'd normally send um... Time Patrollers to resolve the issues without getting involved with any of the people on the planet itself. But... I can't send anybody to the eras of time locked away inside the cage of time that this world has been locked in."

"What? What do you mean?" What was the girl talking about?
>>
"Well, because of the way that this planet has been sealed, it should never have reached past a certain point of time and the Planet-Eater, as the old-fogey called it, should've been sealed away forever, never to threaten another world... but unfortunately, something has gone terribly wrong. The cage of time is now close to cracking and... the Planet-Eater is stronger than ever... strong enough that it has nearly evolved into a being known as the Time Devourer." The girl took a deep breath. "Long ago, before life had begun to flourish in the universe, and before even the gods had begun their long duty of watching over creation... there were a race of beings that existed in the primordial state of the universe... these beings mainly fed on the raw energy that was available at great quantities at that time..." You listened to the story intently. "However, on the whims of their superiors, the gods of the universe were informed it would be their duty to create life... to nurture it... and so they set to work on creating the first planets. They created the first lives in the universe other than the primordial beings and themselves, but as you probably already guessed, not all went to plan." Another pause. "The worlds flourished at first, and the people living on them rapidly grew more advanced, until... one of the beings stumbled across their world... and that was how they first came to be known as Planet-Eaters. The Planet-Eater that found the first world destroyed it utterly... and the rest of the worlds that had been created would soon follow, unless the gods stepped in... and so they did, and a great extinction of the Planet-Eaters occurred, they attempted to burrow deep into the cores of planets in order to hide from the gods, only emerging millennia or even hundreds of millennia later to consume all the energy of the planet without drawing the eye of the gods."

"Good grief, so you're saying that..."
>>
"That's right, this Lavos you're talking about is one of these creatures too, but... Lavos is different. There was only one other Planet-Eater that realized what Lavos is in the process of discovering... that the energy of life and planets was not the only type of energy that could be consumed... and that for them, even the fabric of space and time was something that their species could transform into their own energy... at the time, it took a combined effort of gods, both good and evil, to defeat the Time Devourer, and it was only barely managed after a long battle." It sounded like the Time Devourer was a truly terrifying existence, far beyond what Lavos was when you last saw it. "After the Time Devourer was defeated, it was found that the monster could not be slain. Even though it had been weakened greatly by its defeat, it refused to die. It had seemingly used the last of its power as the Time Devourer to make it so that its own death could never occur... which is why in the end, the decision to seal it on a small planet that was far out of the way was made, not a physical seal... but a seal made out of time itself." The girl's voice kept talking. "It had been assumed that the seal would last forever, but... reading the history of this world, I see that for millions of years, Lavos bided its time, slowly and subtly manipulating the course of the world in order to create a situation in which it could once again reclaim the power it once had over time."

"Then... Schala!" Magus suddenly called out, having heard the whole story about Lavos and the Time Devourer. "Are you telling me that... all of this happened... everything was set up just so that monster could claim Schala's power?!" Magus angrily yelled at the rift, which remained silent for some time.

"It's... possible, that Lavos was merely biding its time for somebody with a talent like hers... yes." The rift confirmed, and you could see Magus' fists clench, his hatred for Lavos doubling in that moment.

"But... back to the matter at hand!" The voice was clearly addressing you again. "I don't do this often, or... well, ever... but I'm going to offer you a special job!" Wait, what was she trying to offer here? "Seeing as I can't send any Patrollers to take care of this disaster, I'm offering you the role of Temporary Sheriff! Or... should that be Temporal Deputy...? It doesn't matter, either way, I guess. The job is simple enough, too! Destroy Lavos before he can reclaim his full power and start a universe collapsing war once again!" Wow, sounded super simple. Luckily you still had the Chrono Trigger to help you out. "So, what do you say?"

If we survive, the gains would be enormous...
But so would the gains from having Euca repeatedly punch us directly in the ballsack for 24 hours straight, and the latter would be less painful.
>>
Wouldn't it make more sense to ask if there's anything they can do from their end right now to increase our chance of victory? Send weapons, equipment, or tell us what Lavos' weaknesses are?
Becoming a deputy on short-notice should get some kind of perks.
>>
>>5044705
We got the Chrono Trigger, it doesn't get much better than that.
>>
>>5044733
But these are guys who have living memory of fighting Lavos and others of his kind in the past. Surely they could at least provide useful information/confirmation on what does and doesn't work before we enter combat.
Plus, aren't we just using the Chrono Trigger to nerf Lavos back to before he became stupidly overpowered?

[I also have to wonder if Chrono and his group have had any odd encounters like this so far...]
>>
>>5045451
Lavos is probably a unique member of his kind for reasons that will become clear soon.
The Chrono Trigger requires actions of great difficulty to power it, besting Lavos in a fight might be what takes to use it.
>>
>>5044491
>by forcing yourself to eat the loli's cooking, you suffer 100d69 raw damage. Roll a con save to not instantly die. And a wisdom save to not go catatonic.
Truly, the gains would be legendary.
