Last time, you had a chat with Esperanza, took Oliver out of prison, learned some interesting facts about the Orphanage of the Blue’s felonies, formed an alliance with Yareli, and got free fruit and cheese! Delicious fruit and cheese!

You really need to find a spot to hide to turn invisible so you can sneak inside the Garden Shop to aid Yareli in her investigation without her knowing! Making sure she’s fine and all. There shouldn’t be any more strangely friendly shop vendors ready to give you free stuff so they can earn your loyalty, right? You mean, everyone is giving you a warm welcome, so it’s unnecessary at this point!

You’re more or less near the Marketplace’s exit where you find a convenient alley and no inconvenient people!

As you approach the alley, you feel like you’re carrying less weight than before. That’s odd. There is no way that’s possible, no matter how much some of the girls you know wish it was. But that’s not the kind of weight you’re thinking of…

Now you realize a bag snatcher has snatched your bag full of cheese and fruity goodness! The criminal is running away! Your hard-earned supplies are all gone thanks to this skulking evildoer unless you do something!

You wonder why Philonune didn’t say anything. He’s usually alert… Wait, he’s helping Naiad with something.

“Sorry, partner.” Philonune apologises as Naiad is testing something on his flameness inside your hoodie.

What do you do?

>Easy comes, Easy goes… You need to turn invisible and forget about the food… The delicious food those kind ladies gave to you.
>Go after that evildoer! Nobody will steal your damn Cheese and Fruit! They were given to you by very nice people and you won’t take their friendliness for granted!
>Turn Invisible… But go after that thief instead of sneaking inside the Garden Shop! You’ll have your revenge.

Votes:

Votes are counted until 25 minutes have passed. This rule doesn't apply to the last reply of the day.
Votes that require a dice roll are counted until 15 minutes have passed, so we can speed up the process. Rolls are counted until 10 minutes have passed, so be prepared!

(NEW) Dice Mechanic:

We always roll 1d100s!
Since most people weren’t happy with the system of averaging top four rolls, we’re using best of 2/3/4 depending on the attribute a prompt requires. If Johnny is a genius and it’s a Knowledge based roll, he gets more rolls (Max. 7)! If he sucks, he gets less dice (Min. 2)!

When asked for rolls, I will specify how many you’re going to get. Rolling begins after it’s asked.

Rolling 100 is a critical and ignores all other rolls! In the same vein, rolling 1 means a critical failure (only for Very Hard rolls and above).

The difficulty of the roll is tied with the effectiveness of the action. In other words, the harder the option the better the result!

Don’t forget that at the end of the day, this is a story-driven quest! What the prompts are describing is more important than the difficulty of the rolls, for results in a fight.

Again, rolls are only counted when they are posted within ten minutes of being asked, so watch out!

Well, easy comes, easy goes… Just like your sister said when you confronted her about the cookies years ago, maybe the reason you’re still bitter was because of her reaction. You really need to let this go now or you’ll become a passive aggressive asshole like Joel. Yeah, you should reframe this thought to something more fitting! Easy comes, easy goes just like Yu Yan says anytime Nariko gets her hands on your food! That’s more fitting! Unlike Nariko’s clothes! Sheesh, maybe having Yu Yan in your mind has some side-effects…

Anyway, you’ll miss your wonderful cheese. You wonder if Pascaline would give you more. Not possible, she’s a nice lady and all, but she’s no charity. Maybe you can call Annette and order food from both of them later. You still have their numbers since you put the little papers in your pocket, your mom said that it’s always better to keep the receipts and the like out of the bags of food. You have no idea if that actually does something, and you feel like you should if you’re turning into the de facto chef in every place you go, but you think this habit found itself to be useful for once.

…You should just turn invisible and stop going into tangents. You hide in the spot you were planning to hide and make your veil cover your body. It’s not an actual veil, it’s just easier to picture it in your head. You need to be swift about it since you already used it for a little while earlier, you didn’t get a short rest or anything to recharge. You feel Naiad acting skittish as the effects were being applied, but you pet her head and told her it’s fine, so she relaxes. She already knew about your abilities, but it’s different when you experience it.

Now you make your way to the Garden Shop, hoping it isn’t too late at this point. You were away for a while after all. You sneak inside without issues, there was a stupid bell signaling that you entered, but nobody even cared to look your way.

Place is bigger than your regular shop, it’s an old wooden building, maybe part of the original shops that the Marketplace was built around. It’s just conjecture, but you remember some of the shops near your apartment being like that. There are some people window shopping, but nothing of interest, you spot Yareli almost immediately, she’s at the counter talking with the store clerk, notepad out and writing stuff, while the lady looks nervous and intimidated by Yareli’s questioning.

What do you do?

>Sneak deeper into the shop. There must be some storage room.
>Get closer to the counter and listen to the conversation between Yareli and the Shop Clerk.
>Leave. It seems Yareli has this and there isn’t much trouble anymore.

Since you’re here, maybe you should listen to what these two are talking about, mainly to see how Yareli is handling stuff. You quietly get there to eavesdrop…

“W-What’s the issue? I-Is there anything I should know about him, Officer?” The Store Clerk wonders.

“Like I said, please don’t call me an officer right now, I’m off duty.” Yareli writes down more stuff on her notepad.

“You don’t look like you are... Oh sorry, that came out a little snarky. Huhuhuh…” Store clerk tries to chuckle it off but this is Yareli we’re talking about, she doesn’t show any emotion back, making the poor lady feel more awkward!

“It’s all good.” Yareli responds with disinterest.

“Please, share it with me!” Store clerk gets a little pushy.

“Hmm?” Yareli stops writing on her notepad.

“What’s going on! What else?” The curiosity of this woman knows no bounds! “I thought the only troubles around town are that petty little thief and the drunks during the night! But now, hmhmhm!” The woman wiggles her eyebrows.

“Ms. Chewnette, I would advise you to refrain from digging deeper into this non-issue.” Yareli waves her hand in front of the vendor. Chewnette? Is that even a name…?

“Non-issue? A non-issue that made you insist on seeing what items Mr. Seib’s acquired here? If this is dangerous, I must know. I swear on my mother’s grave that I’m not going to tell a soul.”

“Your mother is not dead, Ms. Chewnette.” Yareli shakes her head.

“I have her gravestone ready.” Chewnette shouldn’t say stuff like that…

“Delightful news.” Yareli doesn’t give a damn.

“Trust me! Pretty please!” The store clerk will do anything!

“I don’t need the whole Marketplace to know about a non-issue.” Yareli shakes her head. “I know you have trouble keeping your lips sealed.”

Hmmm?! A-Are you accusing me of something?!” The lady covers her mouth as she stares daggers at Yareli. “If that’s the case, you know it’s too late for you to stop the rumors from circulating. This is far too juicy to not speculate.”

“Terrific.” Yareli already knew this was going to be the case.

Hmhmhm… T-There is something Mr. Seib told me that I didn’t share with you. Maybe if you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.”

“Please, do not try to sound like a criminal in front of me. Don’t make me get a warrant.” Yareli isn’t here to play games.

“I-I’m just trying to be subtle!” Chewnette is in shock. “I think this might help you.”

Seems like Yareli is handling the situation wonderfully.

Since you believe Yareli is doing a good job here, you take the initiative to look around, mainly in the storage room that’s behind the counter. You just need to be a lil’ sneaky here like you’re getting accustomed to. Both the store clerk and Yareli are too distracted with each other to notice the sound of your steps. The door is a little bit open, probably from Chewnette checking something Yareli asked at one point. You go through the crack without even touching the door...

Welp, you didn’t know what to expect from a Garden Shop’s storage room, but you kinda expected some plants, fruits, or stuff like that. Here are just boxes neatly arranged, like it’s some kind of tech shop. All of them seem to have gardening tools and the like, some seeds too from the look of it. It’s not really as spacious as the rest of the shop. Still, not what you expected. You start walking around in hopes of finding something interesting…

In one of the shelfs you see an object of interest. It’s a freshly impressed Wilma wanted sign! You… You’re not used to her hair looking straight. Messy hair suits her so much better after all! Sieb might have given the shop one. Perhaps this is the little information the store clerk was hiding from Yareli? You’re no detective but it doesn’t seem like something easy to mention. Well, if she’s as gossipy as Yareli made her out to be, you could be wrong. Under it there is a box with peppers seeds. Maybe she left this here while selling some of these to Sieb. All speculation, and not really important…

You continue delving in this place, just to find the end of the hallway, at the right corner there is a desk full of papers, a couple of empty beer cans, some pens randomly lying around, a lamp and a calculator. Behind it is a closed exit with only a latch to secure it. The owner needs to be tidier… You’re sounding like Matilda, err, Sugar. Why did you mentally correct yourself? Nobody is listening to your rambling!

“I am, partner.” Philonune informs you. Hey, you weren’t sharing that stuff with him!

You glance over the messy desk to gather more intel…

The Store clerk isn’t just a clerk, she’s the owner! Her full name is Chewnette Barker. What a surprise. Also, you’re no accountant like Lise, but here are the store’s finances. They don’t look good… She has 2 employees. You can’t see their names but you can infer it from the amounts of the wages.

Oh, and she’s getting divorced! No, wait, she’s divorced already! Her husband broke up with her because she cheated on him. You’re no lawyer like, ehm, Double J? But it’s clear that’s the case. You didn’t know it was this explicit, you assume that it was written like a consensus between both parties, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Maybe it is in present times? Who knows?

Welp, that’s as much information as you can get! None of this shit was useful…

What a strange resemblance...you know, if the Orphanage has someone that can manipulate memories such that Sieb doesn't pick up on the abuse going on (or the children trust and like Sieb even though he does) then they could also kidnap just about any kid with talent they wanted from the local township...

You’re not happy with what you have found! You believe there must be something around that you haven’t noticed. Maybe an important paper? A secret key? A mystery box with cheese? Who knows?! But your instincts haven’t failed you since the last time they did! Which is long ago, you think! Time to dig up more information.

Hmm? You found a phone number list with some interesting names on it, including Sieb, Hubbard, Ronda, Annette, Pascaline, other shop related people, the Local Bar, a lawyer firm, the Orphanage of the Blue itself, multiple CotF apartment blocks, and more! One of the numbers has some hearts around it. But the most surprising one is a direct line with the town’s Police Captain. You rip a paper from a random notepad, and start writing everything on it. You don’t want to steal the list in case she needs it, maybe it won’t help like the marital counselling she spent a good amount for, but you can be optimistic about the gossipy lady’s future, right? With the list done and in your pocket, you continue overviewing the place…

You just noticed a strangely placed package. What makes it strange? The shelves are meticulously arranged to hold as many boxes piled up and the boxes are designed to not waste any space, except for this one, which makes you believe it’s going to be delivered somewhere.

Before you could inspect it, you hear the sound of the storage room opening at the end of the hallway, a woman enters and it’s not the one you expect… It’s your teacher, Ronda! Should you call her your teacher? Technically you’re part of the school in this timeline, right? So she’s totally your teacher! Anyway, she’s wearing the store’s uniform. She works here?! Are teachers that underpaid? Well, you remember that in present times it is still the same! Poor Nina… in more ways than one!

You put yourself against the wall in the little gap between the shelves and the exit. Ronda makes a straight line towards the box you were about to examine. Suspicious. She cleans the little dust that it has, and puts it on the desk’s chair – you think she’s planning on opening the back door! And If she does, the door could bounce on you…

You need to think quickly or something awkward is bound to happen!

What do you do?

>Stay put and pray.

You need a game plan! Well, there is something you can do to psyche the enemy out!

I know what you did…” You try to sound like a ghost! You try to channel Amelia’s voice after doing any decent amount of exercise.

“Not now.” Ronda gives you a sensible chuckle as she freezes in place. “Can’t you tell that I’m busy?” Yeah, she’s willing to talk. But now you’re the one being a little creeped out.

Welp, that’s new… And by new, you don’t know how to respond to that!

How do you respond?

>“If you keep running away you’ll get… it.” Try to be more cryptic!
>“Are you sure we’re talking about the same thing? I’m just a storage room ghost, lady.” Play a part and confuse her.

“Busy doing what exactly? Mmm?” You inquire.

“Taking this package to the children outside.” Ronda pats the box behind her. “Your voice is such an enchanting melody now, I’m a fan. Fufufu…

“Kids? What kids?”

“The ones from the order, are you forgetting stuff again?” Ronda giggles. “Or am I talking to another spirit? Or maybe you’re no spirit at all? I doubt it.”

“What order?” You need to confirm it’s the orphanage.

“The Order of the Blue.” Ronda isn’t impressed. “Spirit, I’ll be delighted if you concocted more extensive questions. The only gratification I have is listening to your alluring words. But first, I humbly request of you to let me deliver this package or will that cause your ire?” Ronda bows her head…

How do you respond?

>“Yeah, don’t.” You won’t give her permission yet!
>“It causes great offense to me that you think you can interrupt our conversation as you see please!” Shake the shelf right next to you to show your otherworldly rage!

My first instinct is to start making our moves on the cult and
>Knock Ronda out. See what’s in the package.

But I don't know, maybe having a girl who's infatuated with us as a ghost-voice inside the cult will come in handy later. For now I'll vote for
>“It causes great offense to me that you think you can interrupt our conversation as you see please!” Shake the shelf right next to you to show your otherworldly rage!
Actually try to make something fall and make a noise, maybe it will tip off Yareli up front and make her investigate.

Either way we need to make sure that we control the flow of information out of this situation. As soon as the cult gets tipped off that Yareli is doing anything other than obeying their orders hostage-kid's life gets put on a very short timer as a best case scenario.
>>
>>4984923
I feel like there's something clever we could say or do here to turn the situation to a big advantage, but it's too late at night for me to come up with it.

One thing's for sure, we should stop acting so carefree when Yareli, Kobashi, Oliver, Wilma, and hostageboi who's name escapes me are all in varying degrees of danger if anything goes south with this game we're playing.

“It causes great offense to me that you think you can interrupt our conversation as you see please!” You start shaking the shelf right next to you in otherworldly rage! Hell, you’re going to push something off too! Yeah, take that box! Right into the ground! “I’m the one in charge here!”

Ooooh, quite aggressive, aren’t you? I like it.” Ronda starts fufufuing again. “Indeed, you’re not the same spirit I’m acquainted with, you’re far more powerful than any that I’ve seen. I implore you to forgive me, I didn’t intend to cause any offense…”

Before you can even reply, you hear the door to the main shop opening, Chewnette and Yareli are looking inside to see what’s going on. The box you dropped made them aware that something is going on.

“Ronda, dear, what’s going on? Did you drop something?” Chewnette shows concern.

“Do not move a muscle, we’re in the presence of a powerful spirit, and he doesn’t take interruptions kindly.” Ronda warns both of them before they can step in. “You mustn’t put not even one finger inside his territory.”

“You mean a ghost? Aren’t you too old to believe in that baloney?” Chewnette doesn’t sound impressed.

“Strange activities have happened around town lately; I advise you to be careful.” Yareli has seen enough weird events to know something is up.

“I-I heard about that! But I thought those were aliens!” Chewnette looks uncomfortable. “No, wait, you’re trying to skip work again, aren’t you, Ronda? Hmhmhm! I got you!”

“You can try your luck if you want, but don’t say I didn’t warn you, fufufu.” Ronda is not too upset about putting her boss in danger.

“You CotF never want to put in real work, do you?” Chewnette rolls her eyes.

Maybe it’s the moment to act now!

“Like you with your marriage, lady?” You go for the jugular; something tells you that upsetting Chewnette is the best course of action.

“W-Wha-Wha-What!?!” Chewnette acts like she got hit by a truck. The truck of truth!

“Is that why he’s not around anymore? Fufufu…” Ronda finds this delightful.

“…” Yareli has realized that’s your voice. She’s unsure of what to do.

“I-It’s all false! A hoax! A ruse!” Chewnette denies the charges. “D-Don’t stare at me like I’m lying!” She shouts upon seeing Yareli’s inexpressive face.

“You have no reason to lie, right?” Yareli’s response doesn’t calm the overwrought woman.

“Enough! W-What’s that voice!?” Chewnette wants an explanation.

“That’s the spirit I mentioned. Quite charming, isn’t he?” Ronda is all giggly.

“L-Lousy ghost! Leave my property!” Chewnette wants to dispel you from this realm! “I kicked my husband out, I can do the same with you!”

“Let me handle it, Barker. I have the experience.” Ronda raises her hand like she has nothing to hide.

“This isn’t a farce, is it? You’re a policewoman! You can tell, right?” Chewnette is looking for a second opinion.

Yareli puts her hand on her chin, pondering how to respond. She’s waiting for a signal.

What do you do?

>“I don’t want that lousy untrustworthy woman here. But the other one interests me…” You need to somehow give the box to Yareli.

“I don’t want that lousy untrustworthy woman here.” You want Chewnette out of here! “But the other one interests me…”

“Don’t employ my insults against me, you unimaginative ghost!” Chewnette hates you! Hey, you always call things ‘lousy’, it is as much a catchphrase of yours as What’s Good?™ is! “Why her?!”

“The whims of specters are as confusing as our own, we all come from the same place of desire.” Ronda chuckles yet again. She wasn’t this happy during classes!

“Y-You can have a playdate somewhere else!” Chewnette doesn’t want a reunion behind her back.

“I’ll deal with this.” Yareli is up to the challenge.

“Hold on a moment.” Ronda doesn’t want Yareli inside the perimeter, she seems a little worried about her safety. “Spirit, is it prudent to bring more mortals to this gathering? I’m sure I’m enough company for thee.”

“Are you challenging me once again?!” You start shaking the shelf once again to show your mildly inconvenient wrath!

“B-Be careful with my merchandise!” Chewnette feels like she’s being hit by another truck!

“I would never challenge your judgment, spirit!” Ronda is really enjoying this. “But I don’t think our guest knows the risks…”

“I’m a police officer, putting my life at risk is part of my duty.” Yareli stands tall.

“Listen to me, you lousy ghost, if anything happens to th—”

Enough. He’s irritated enough.” Ronda interrupts Chewnette to shut her up!

“R-Ronda, if anything breaks, you’ll have to cover it with your salary!” Chewnette leaves, all upset.

Yareli walks in as casually as always and closes the door behind her.

“Don’t move anymore. You’re in his dominion now.” Ronda stops Yareli in her tracks!

“…” Yareli nods. She’s playing along, that’s good.

What now?

“I heard you’re a law enforcer. How do you know about this Order of the Blue?” You steer the conversation to get to Ronda to spill the beans!

“And I was concerned you were laying your eyes on another girl, fufufu…” Ronda jokes around. It’s difficult for you to gauge if she really thinks she’s in danger or not. Your best guess is that she believes she can handle this, but knows you’re powerful.

“I apologize, but I don’t have the faintest idea of what you’re talking about.” Yareli plays dumb. You think it’s better that she does, she shouldn’t appear like she’s conspiring against them for her own safety.

“So you spoke of this order lightly before, but it doesn’t appear to be a matter of public opinion.” You turn to Ronda to make her explain herself.

“My apologies, spirit! I wasn’t trying to act conceited; I merely mistook you for someone else. I can explain it if you like, even if it pains my heart to not listen to your tender voice for long.” Ronda clasps her hands.

“Do it.” You exclaim.

“Oh dear spirit, I implore you to rephrase your request before I indulge you.” Ronda really really likes the sound of your voice.

“Do as I tell you, you disrespectful woman!” You shake the shelf once again!

“Yes, spirit, yes I will! Pardon my selfishness!” Ronda loves it, she doesn’t mind what you say as long as you talk... “Do you know the name of Angra Mainyu?”

“…” You don’t know how to respond. You kinda know, but you really don’t know. Saying that you don’t know might raise some red flags, but...

“I beg of you, Spirit! Please answer my query! I don’t want to offend you any longer! Or is it an insult in of itself that I ask such a trivial question? Without an answer, I’m left in the dark!” Ronda wants to hear your answer. Keyword here is hear

“I believe he wants you to get on with it.” Yareli interrupts the big-nosed woman.

“Do not speak on his behalf!” Ronda didn’t like that! “Y-You’re going to get us hurt.”

“Your actions will lead us to the same results.” Yareli is one upfront gal… “Just continue speaking for our own safety, we’re in this together.”

“Without wanting to offend you again, I’ll do as she says.” Ronda apologetically continues talking. “The Order of the Blue are the last remnants of the human disciples of Angra Mainyu. Their sole objective is to bring their guardian goddess to this world by any means necessary, to unleash their vengeance against those who opposed them, those who exterminated them centuries ago... May I ask if you witnessed it? I imagine a spirit with your capabilities should be centuries old, right? The amount of knowledge you carry must be unbelievable… fufufufu…” Ronda gets all excited out of nowhere.

“Continue talking.” You demand like a mad king.

“Oh spirit, how cruel can you be? Giving me a minuscule taste then leaving me wanting more! Your gallant voice is nectar to the soul, yet you share so little! Spare a thought! Give me a line!” Ronda can’t continue like this… “I beg of thee! I’ll become your disciple! I’ll lend this vessel! I’ll be yours! Just indulge me once in a while, it is all I ask!”

“…” Yareli must be feeling second-hand embarrassment because she’s showing very little of it…

How do you respond?

>“I don’t want any of that, I just want you to continue the tale you were so keen to interrupt! I’ll speak when I want, and that’s as much as you’ll get!” You won’t negotiate with her but you’ll talk a little more to appease her for now.
>“Will you show complete devotion to me and my cause?” This is getting weird, but you’ll play along...
>“No.” You won’t give her anything! Anything!
>“Lady, you’re weird. I don’t like you.” You have enough oddballs around as it is…

“Will you show complete devotion to me and my cause?” This is becoming really weird, but you’ll play along to get as much information as you can. After all, you’re not playing around! You need this!

“Oh the devil! Such a macabre deal we are going to be bound to. This is so enthralling…” Ronda has a creepy smile going from ear to ear.

“I will advise you against your own idea.” Yareli won’t let a lady get corrupted in her presence.

“Don’t be concerned, your safety is guaranteed. His alluring speech only affected me, which I’m grateful for.” Ronda tries to calm Yareli down.

“I must insist, you shouldn’t throw your life away.” Yareli really doesn’t want her to fall for this hoax.

“Enough. This accursed life of mine belongs to you and your cause, Milord.” Ronda accepts as creepily as envisioned. “But before it’s truly yours, you must vanquish those damned souls around me! They are fickle, they aren’t around me all the time. I shall notify you if one shows up! I apologize for this mild inconvenience!”

“…” Yareli doesn’t know what to say.

“But before we continue, Milord, what is your name?” Ronda wants to know all about you.

“You aren’t worthy to know my name, you need to pass this trial run first and you must tell me everything you know.” You don’t think you can do what she asked… But it works in the meantime!

“Such a gentle voice being so harsh, the dichotomy is… exquisite.” Ronda fawns over you yet again. You sound like two ducks playing tongue twisters, what’s up with her?

“My orders were clear, weren’t they?” You’re just tired of her ramblings at this point…

“I apologize once again; I just picture you getting rid of those megalomaniac phantoms and I can’t help but be exhilarated…” There is more to Ronda than it seems. Not that it’s going to be interesting to listen to… “I must implore you first to pardon the officer’s life and let her go, I feel for her… It has nothing to do with her status as a law enforcer and the possible ramifications of what I’m about to say in my personal life. No, not at all.”

…So it is just that, right…?

Anyway, you have conflicted feelings Ronda, you can tell there is something sad about her, but if she works for the Order/Orphanage of the Blue, you should feel less sympathy.

Should Yareli stay?

Let's just turn Yareli invisible, it's not that much more straining to have two people invisible when we're standing still right? Oh and send Philo or Naiad through the door to check and see if Chewnette is on the other side of the door.

"The officer will not leave but I will not harm her for now. She will remain in my domain until you finish your tale."

If Chewette's eavesdropping then smack the door and add

"But if a certain cheating shop manager continues to eavesdrop then I won't be as kind to her."

>What the package has and why are the kids involved
>Her personal life
>The Order of the Blue

In that order, then the other two topics if we don't get interrupted by then.

I mean, all the Order of the Blue's minions we've met and gotten to know so far have had some sort of leverage applied against them to get them to do what the Blue bids them to. Wilma was exactly the same in a sense. It's fine to feel sympathetic we just can't let it stop us from doing what needs to be done in order to Do Our Best!

People really take for granted just how much energy Johnny is using, why make him strain himself more and possibly ruin everything when it would just be infinitely easier to just tell Yareli what we heard? Especially when we haven't really trained with this at all and could have a repeat of the stupid zoom vision fiasco. Like seriously, even he has a limit
>>
>>4987105
We've trained taking other people and things invisible with us plenty though.
>>
>>4987117
Like when?
>>
>>4987129
When we carried Ajna back to the hospital on/just after Judgment Day, yesterday when we were with Matilda and snuck around the school holding hands and invisible, when we picked up modern-day Hubbard's laptop while invisible to turn it invisible and sneak out with it, when we picked up the box outside Yareli's door to turn it invisible and sneak away with it...
>>
>>4987149
I was talking about people, I know we can make objects invisible or else we would have to get naked every time we use our power

>When we carried Ajna back to the hospital on/just after Judgment Day
It was after judgement day and we did not turn invisible during this

>yesterday when we were with Matilda and snuck around the school holding hands and invisible
This is the one time we did it and it's not training. Johnny even talks about how he shouldn't stay invisible for long periods of time. Like, you know, an infodump would be. I don't see what we gain out of this except for wasting energy
>>
>>4987158
We gain twice as much fun as being invisible solo nets us
>>
>>4987160
I don't know man, I just really hope we don't miss a good chance or mess up later on cause we wasted our energy on this

“The officer will not leave, but I will not harm her… for now.” You discretely walk towards Yareli near the exit to the store. You grab the policewoman’s hand and turn her invisible!

“Huh?” Yareli gasps a tiny bit upon being touched. Is she scared? All you know is that those sunglasses cheated you out of seeing any emotion on her.

“Agh, officer…!” Ronda actually looks really concerned now.

“She will remain in my domain until you finish your tale.” You inform with the utmost seriousness. You gently scratch Yareli’s hand with one finger to somehow make her understand that everything is fine.

“…” Yareli wisely decides to stay quiet as she responds in kind with her own scratching. The fact she can maintain her cool in this situation speaks volumes about her! But your actions provoked some noise, you need to make sure the gossipy lady isn’t in pursuit of a new story to divulge. You tell Philonune to check the door behind you in case Chewnette is eavesdropping.

“She’s there, partner. Looking through a tiny gap in the door.” Philonune gives his report.

“…But if a certain cheating shop manager continues to eavesdrop then I won’t be as kind to her.” With your freehand you close the door violently without looking back! What a statement!

“W-WOOAH…!” Chewnette fell on her ass from the shock outside. “Uggh…”

“Barker, you okay?!” Ronda shouts. You hear the shopkeeper mildly complaining, so you assume she’s fine. You don’t want to hurt anyone here…

“There are more pressing matters than that woman.” You remind Ronda of the situation she’s in.

“Y-Yes, milord…” Ronda is doing what she can to ease her nerves.

“Now, prove yourself to me and satiate my curiosity.” You demand like the powerful being you portray yourself as! This doesn’t fit you at all.

“I’ll do anything to be worthy of hearing thee name...” Ronda bows and commences to respond to your queries.

>First you asked what the package was and why the kids were involved.

Ronda says it contains 4 shovels that can be disassembled in 3 parts, an ordinary product from the shop. This is the 2nd package they have to deliver, the only difference from the first are some ordinary seeds Ronda can’t remember. She was supposed to embezzle them for the orphanage, but Chewnette came one day all anxious and ordered her to secretly do it before she pulled it off. From that day onwards, Ronda has taken care of all underground deals in the shop, she says it’s more common than you think and the clients go beyond the Order of the Blue, she has no idea why these transactions are secret. Going back to the main topic, the kids are the recipients for the order, nothing more, nothing less. What goes beyond that, Ronda has no idea.

>Second, you asked about Ronda's personal life.

Ronda is flattered that you asked. She’s a CotF, her parents worked in the medical field but she doesn’t know much more than that. Her CotF mandated job is being a High School Teacher, which she enjoys despite being an introvert. She says she has a cursed existence; specters have been following her entire life and they’ve brought bad luck to her and those around her. She says that her favorite part of her job is watching these phantoms pull pranks on the kids. She loves seeing them trip…

This solitude plus the otherworldly happenings manifested an interest in the occult. She enjoys the company of the spirits so much, she lost interest in mortals. In her words, there is nothing interesting about a being who hasn’t lived for long, they are so immature in comparison. She tried to join one of the Monasteries/Temples around to learn more about the spirits and how to communicate with them, but she was dismissed because she had no blood relation with any of the present or past members. She heard the knowledge she was seeking is lost anyway, and the temples stand tall these days more as a cultural sighting than anything.

One night, months ago, Ronda felt something odd happening in the fields and went to investigate, finding out about the Order of the Blue and their activities. Their leader, Ophelia Bruun, made a deal with her, she does the Order some favors, and in return Ophelia teaches her what the Monasteries denied her. Now she has an easier time communicating with the spirits. But since yesterday she hasn’t been able to contact any of the souls she’s used to talking to. So your presence made her day in more ways than one…

>Third and final, you asked about The Order of the Blue.

Like Ronda mentioned before, the Order of the Blue is the last remnant of the disciples of Angra Mainyu. They want to bring her to this world to enact revenge on those who exterminated them. Way back then, there were 5 important temples, each one with their own deity, one for each region in Prancijan. As you can easily tell, there are 4 regions, so legends say that the house of Angra Mainyu was built on stolen knowledge from the other four, and their members were killed.

Ronda says she will learn more tonight if she delivers the package!

….

“There, milord, have I honored you with my ramblings? Am I worthy to hear thee name? If you want me to keep entertaining you, you understand how important it is for me to deliver this package!” Ronda smiles, all satisfied. “But above all that… I request once again to bring the officer back.” Ronda bows again. She’s really adamant about helping Yareli, huh?
>>
>>4987773

You feel like you’ve been sweating for a while, a tiny headache is developing. But nothing too bad for now…

What do you do now?

>“Aren’t you a teacher? Your ramblings were a chore! This is it for us… for now.” Make Yareli visible and get the hell out of here! Yareli will stop her from delivering the package, right?
>“Bring the Cheating Shop Manager. I need to know more about her involvement at once!” You need to know this tidbit!
>“My name is Philonune… Write down your address and go back home… I’ll contact you later! You’ll serve me well…” Trial run is over, she’s in!
>“Give the package to the kids! Your ramblings weren’t enough. I need to know more.” Trial run ain’t over yet!
>Write In.

(Only reply of the day, I'm not feeling good, but we'll return tomorrow!)
>>

So it might be a bit overcomplicated, but I think we should take Ronda's suppositions about things and run with them.

>Uncloak Yareli
>Invoke Philonune such that he is between us and Ronda, so she can't see us. We ought to be able to gauge if she actually sees him or not.
>(Have Philo say this part I gues, but if she can't hear him we will) “My name is Philonune…and you will be my third servant in this world. If you obey my minion you have been talking to so far then I will take care of your problem when it arises again."
>Uncloak ourselves (well I guess this happened when we invoked Philo, so step out from behind him instead I guess).

If Ronda can't see Philonune invoked then we still follow the same basic plan, we just play it off like Philo was possessing us and he released his hold.

This lets us uncloak ourselves so we're no longer accumulating fatigue, and lets us boss her around without maintaining a pretense, this also will allow us to gauge whether or not the children and adults at the orphanage will be able to see Philo if we manifest him which is valuable intel to have. Also this gives us a pawn to use who is already familiar to and with the orphanage staff.

Accordingly I'm not sure that sending her home is the right idea, so before we decide anything let's confer with Yareli. She can just be Philo's 1st/2nd servant or whatever, and if Ronda questions it we'll just point out that if Yareli wasn't Philo's servan...it would be an awfully big coincidence she had just happened to show up at this random garden shop at the same time as us and Philo.

“Bring the Cheating Shop Manager. I need to know more about her involvement at once!” You need to know this tidbit! You drag Yareli with you towards the desk, so you are out of the way from the shop’s door.

“In an instant, Milord. But I urge you to reconsider my request…” Ronda won’t do it just yet.

“I’ll consider it… Now bring that lousy untrustworthy woman back.” You acknowledge what Ronda said, but decide to ignore it anyway.

“Is it required for her to cross the threshold of your domain?” Ronda asks beforehand.

“That’s up to you, I only seek answers.” You don’t want to trouble Ronda more than necessary.

“Very well, it shall be done.” Ronda bows at a direction nowhere near where you're standing at this moment, and leaves the storage room; worth noting that she hesitated to leave for a second, then as soon as she went out, she smiled full of relief as she closed the door. You have no idea how she didn’t manage to touch you, but you’re in luck!

Now with Ronda gone for a brief moment, you walk towards the back exit dragging Yareli with you, the place where you were originally standing…

“You’re doing good, Yareli. Thanks for trusting me.” You whisper to the policewoman. You think she nodded, but you can’t tell because she’s invisible too! You just felt it, if that makes sense…

Good thing you kept things brief because they’re back! Chewnette enters first, fuming! Ronda has a “why do I even bother?” kind of look on her face as she closes the door behind you.

“You know for how long you have kept my wares hostage, you lousy ghost? I’m losing sales!” Chewnette complains as she wiggles her pointy finger everywhere! “Where is Officer Yareli…?”

“The Spirit has her hostage.” Ronda shrugs.

“…” Chewnette reacts by going to the door with the intention of escaping!

“It’s far too late for that. You’re already in his domain...” Ronda shrugs and sighs. “And before you start your incessant blather, I did warn you beforehand... And if you’re thinking about shouting for help, well, you can express all those bottled-up feelings to him as a ghost yourself. I recommend you indulge him. Fufufu…

“…H-How can I help you, dear Spirit?” Chewnette changed the tone of her song rather abruptly.

“Tell me what this package deal is about and how it came to be.” You ask first.

“Package? What package? I don’t have the faintest idea what you’re talking about!” Chewnette has no qualms about lying despite the situation.

“The package on the chair, Barker.” Ronda rolls her eye.

“This thing? I’ve never seen it before. But yes, it’s one of our store’s boxes. Did Ronda lie about it?” Chewnette is really stubborn... “Are you stealing from the store again? Hmhmhm, You CotF lot are shameless! Your lower salary is not worth keeping you around!”

“You were the one who told me to assemble it, Barker.” Ronda facepalms. “He won’t take lying kindly, so retract your statement.”

“Yes, we make deals off the record. And yes, we keep them confidential. And yes, you’ve stolen goods from this store, don’t try to deny it now!” Ms. Barker barks in response. “Some clients want to hide some expenditures from their papers, ones that look out of place, I’m happy to oblige. Just a favor, that’s all. It’s just a hand-to-hand exchange like everyone does! These deals are commonplace, I can’t remember every single one.”

“This one is for the Orphanage—” Ronda tries to clarify.

“It’s tragic, but there are many Orphanages around!” An anxious Chewnette interrupts.

“Of the Blue.” Ronda ends her sentence.

“Like I said, many dealings! Even if I know the client, I don’t keep track of any details! These dealings are off the book, for them and myself as well. You have no idea how much money you end up losing with these policies!” Chewnette tries to laugh it off.

“Tell me, what’s your involvement with the Order of the Blue.” You ask next. Chewnette practically evaded the question but you believe if you ask details on this, she’ll corner herself and expose what really is happening.

“Order of the Blue? What is that? You mean the Orphanage? You need to clean your ears, Mr. Spirit. Do you want me to do it? I’ll be happy to be of assistance. A happily married woman knows how to attend to her man.” Chewnette is genuinely confused by what you said.

“It’s a Spirit, Barker. Just answer the question.” Ronda is smoothing out the process for you. What a good lackey…

“Ms. Bruun, uhm, Ophelia is a close friend of mine! Really close! Ever since she moved to town we took a liking to each other. And if my dear friend needs some shovels, I’ll provide her some shovels! And Mr. Sieb is one of my favorite customers! He loves gardening! T-That’s as far as it goes! I swear!” Chewnette just confessed about the shovels… She’s clearly hiding something. Perhaps she thinks she can trick you with lies because you’re just a random stupid ghost…

But you’re not stupid! Or a ghost! Or random…

Headache is still not bad, but it is still there…

“You’re lying to me!” You need to start shaking more stuff! Yeah, you’ll drop another box like a cat! You’ve never seen Bradford Jr. do that though, he’s a good boy, you miss him.

“Barker, I’ve warned you enough… you’re putting yourself in harm’s way here, and there is nothing I can do to stop it.” Ronda is getting exasperated.

“Y-You think this is easy…?!” Chewnette won’t ever tell her secrets! “No! I’m looking at this wrong! H-How do I know this isn’t an act? A trick? A sham? I know you would stoop that low. The officer left through the back door, and you’re trying to deceive me! I have no idea what magic act you’re pulling, but it’s always the same shelf and—”

You drop stuff from the desk…

“It’s not the time.” Ronda wants Chewnette to answer you at last.

“It never is, IS IT?!” Chewnette shouts in impotent rage. “…I’m the one under a curse.” Now she’s committing character infringement…

“Let me hear the truth now.” You feel like if you don’t say something, Chewnette will keep going in circles.

“The box? Those shovels? Ophelia requested them. They are reassembling shovels. You can separate them into 3 parts, great for transport and convenience, they can be assembled any way you want. Yeah, you can make the shovel shorter, perfect for little people and kids. “And about your involvement with the Order of the Blue.” You ask again.

“That’s the Orphanage, right? Tch, it’s such a long story, even before I met Ophelia, I’ve never told anyone but… it’s going to be therapeutic in a sense, right, Mr. Spirit?” Chewnette’s barking changes to a sadder tone. “12 years ago, I gave birth to a wonderful baby boy. My husband and I were so happy. His little hand touched his finger and he couldn’t be happier. He just had that smile, he smiled at him the same way he smiled at me during our wedding. And my little boy, he was so cute, so handsome, so little and frail. My dear son…” Ms. Barker’s eyes start getting watery. “The nurse that was with us took him away for whatever reason, I was exhausted and so was my husband. We were separated for an hour from our child and I got anxious. I demanded to see him. I barked, screamed, and threw the biggest fit. The same nurse came back, a somber look on her face and told me… she told me my baby is dead…”

“I asked her how it was possible. She looked away and said he stopped breathing, and he was pronounced dead. I demanded to see him. His body. My baby. My baby couldn’t be gone. I grabbed her by the collar, stood up, and shouted to her to bring him back. My husband, amidst my fit, ran away, searching for him. Then as the rage consumed my body, my mind went dark… and I fainted.”

“When I woke up, I had my husband by my side, looking somber as a ghost, eyes red, and his face full of bruises. I asked what happened. He said he couldn’t find him, and they beat him up for going through security. The hospital gave us the bad news again. My little boy was pronounced dead, but we never saw his body… We never knew what happened… My son…”

“Years passed, and months ago, the Orphanage of the Blue was built. Seib became a regular customer for a while, we got along well, then Ophelia showed up on her own before closing and said I was trustworthy in Seib’s words, and asked if I could make a special deal with her. She needed some special seeds, and a bunch of shovels, all of them require permits to buy. She wanted to bypass it all… I, of course, denied making a shady deal. She smiled, bought something else, and asked me to not tell a soul about what she said. “Hmhmhm, how suspicious.” I said to myself, I was ready to talk about it with everyone during my lunch break tomorrow.”

“Next morning, she comes back, and says she found out about my son… She told me she worked for the government and has her own orphanage, so she had access to government files regarding children. She gave me a little tidbit… My son was alive. She offered to do the deal again, but in exchange, she would tell me everything she found out. I, of course, accepted.”

“After the first deal was done, she gave me a secret report about stolen babies, my name was among the victims. I was never informed about this. She told me I can verify the seal and everything if I didn’t think it was real. So I did, I called Captain van Zullekom, showed him the document, and he told me it was legit.”

“I showed it to my husband. He got angry as a mule and told me he didn’t want to go through this again, we spent years trying to find him and got nothing. He almost got killed twice for it, but that’s another story. I told him he was an idiot for abandoning our son again, so we fought. And… that doesn’t matter anymore now.”

“As I continued working for Ophelia Bruun, she continued digging for information… One report showed that part of that hospital’s staff stole babies to sell them abroad under the guise of humanitarian work. My boy was among them. Next report, that the operation was stopped midway, and the children were saved from going abroad. Next report, the government decided to send the kids to orphanages instead of returning them to their parents to avoid any scandals. And the next… and the next report… the next report she told me… she told me it says where my boy is! I just need to comply… I just need to comply with the next row of packages, and I’ll find my son. After all of these years, I’ll find my son! But now, a stupid ghost is going to ruin everything…

You feel Yareli’s grasp tightening… Ronda isn’t complaining anymore.

Your knowledge is high enough to tell you, to give the hunch, that perhaps you know her son. It’s a massive coincidence, but, maybe…

Sadly, this is all we have for this thread, thanks for playing! And see you very soon!

Well, now I'm sad...

Thanks for running anyway!

Well Chewnette's a bit of a dumbass to think that someone uninvolved in such a ring could get access to government documents about it, but I guess you take any lead you can get when you're desperate.

But why does Ophelia have to have a rack like that along with her evil overlord vibes! Why do good things happen to bad people...

We must seduce her to the side of good.
